Chag Pesach Kasher Vesameach.
I would like to wish everyone a Chag Kasher V’sameach. May we all merit to celebrate in rebuilt Jerusalem as we say in the Seder.
As we sit down with family and friends this Pesach, our thoughts turn to those who are unable to do so, please remember them and leave an empty chair.
חג פסח כשר ושמח לכל בית ישראל באשר הם.

WHY FOUR CUPS?
One of the most famous - and enjoyable - parts of the seder is the four glasses of wine we are commanded to drink that night. Why four cups? As with everything Jewish, there are multiple answers. Here are a few:
When God promised to deliver the Jews from slavery in Egypt, He used four terms to describe the redemption (Exodus 6:6-8): a)“I shall take you out…” b) “I shall rescue you” c) “I shall redeem you….” d) “I shall bring you….”
The four cups represent our four exiles from the Holy Land: the Egyptian, Babylonian and Greek exiles, and our current exile which we pray will end very soon with the coming of Moshiach (Messiah)!
The words “cups of wine” are mentioned four times in Pharaoh’s butler’s dream (Genesis 40: 11-13). Just as the butler was liberated from prison in Egypt, these cups of wine allude to the Jews’ liberation from slavery in Egypt.
Wine helps us celebrate the holiday with joy!

Arab Israeli buys state’s chametz for $150b Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich authorized the chief rabbis to carry out the transaction.
At the instruction of Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, the chief rabbis of Israel sold all of the chametz (leavened foods) owned by the state to an Arab Israeli businessman in accordance with the laws of Passover, the Chief Rabbinate of Israel announced on Sunday. Halachah, or Jewish religious law, forbids the eating or ownership of leavened products during the seven-day holiday, in keeping with the story of the Exodus from Egypt. Passover starts at sundown on Monday. The sale has “halachic and legal validity and allows the citizens of Israel to properly observe the commandments of Passover without the fear of chametz remaining in their possession,” the Chief Rabbinate said. Hussein Jabar, 64, from the Arab town of Abu Ghosh west of Israel’s capital, paid a deposit of 20,000 shekels ($5,300). After the holiday, he will be offered the possibility of completing the transaction, which has an estimated total value of $150 billion. “The ceremony took place at 11 a.m. at the Chief Rabbinate of Israel in Jerusalem. It felt very dignified. It made me proud and it was moving,” Jabar told JNS on Sunday night after signing the agreement. “I put together a team of experts in the food and catering business from Abu Ghosh. We are about 10 people, and we designed a plan to raise the money. Hopefully, this year, we will make it happen,” Jabar said.

If Jabar and his partners fail to raise the total amount before the end of Passover on the night of April 30, the ownership will revert to the state. Jabar took over the task some 28 years ago after the previous buyer, also from Abu Ghosh, was relieved of his duties when it was discovered his maternal grandmother may have been Jewish. At Jerusalem’s Ramada Hotel, where he has worked for about 40 years, Jabar met with Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, then-Ashkenazi chief rabbi of Israel, who suggested he take the job. Jabar said on Sunday, “My family is really happy for me. They love it. By doing this, I feel that I am creating a connection between the Jews and the Arabs in Israel, bridging the gap between both communities.” As Israel enters its seventh month of war in Gaza triggered by Hamas’s Oct. 7 massacre of some 1,200 people, Jabar expressed a wish for quieter times. “I hope we will soon have peace and only good news for everyone. I wish the people of Israel a kosher and happy Passover,” he told JNS. As part of the ceremony, Smotrich authorized the chief rabbis, Rabbi David Lau and Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, to carry out the transaction on behalf of the state. “Since the holiday of Simchat Torah, when the terrible disaster happened to us, we have been praying for the success of the security forces,” said Yosef. “We need to continue to pray for our soldiers, who give their lives and fight on the northern and southern borders and wherever they are.” Lau said, “Our neighbors want to destroy us and make us forget the joy, but the entire nation of Israel has stood up to fight for its home, for our essence as the Jewish people— we are not ready to give up on that.

PASSOVER 🐑🐑 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 🐏🐏 for those in ISRAEL
Chief Rabbinute instructions with Risk Adjustments
🐑What’s Passover about?  -> https://www.chabad.org/holidays/passover/default_cdo/jewish/Passover.htm
🐑Find a Passover Seder near you! -> https://www.chabad.org/holidays/passover/seders_cdo/aid/110005/jewish/Find-a-Passover-Seder-Near-You.htm
🔅Holiday Times here -> https://www.myzmanim.com/search.aspx
⚠️RISK - WHOLE COUNTRY - MEDIUM-HIGH, noting that our enemies have specifically targeted attacks on holidays including Simchat Torah Oct. 7.  Precautions REQUIRED, know your shelter options at synagogue, school, work and home - and at the store or mall or what actions to take if out in the open, at the beach or park.
➡️ MAMAD LIGHTS ON… leave the lights on, on Shabbat,  so if there is an alert you don’t have to turn them on.
➡️ TAKE A PHONE WITH YOU… when sheltering or leave one on in the shelter.  If you must call for help, have a way to do so quickly.
➡️ LEAVE ON AN ALERT METHOD… Leave on silent channel or stream on computer or phone, or alert app.
➡️ SAFE TO GO TO SYNAGOGUE? - Follow instructions of Homefront Command and your City!
— HIGH Risk - only go to a synagogue that has, or preferably is in, a shelter.  Otherwise pray at home.
— MEDIUM Risk - best to only go to a synagogue that has or is near a shelter. Where is it?  Have a ‘when there is a siren’ plan in mind.
— LOW Risk - there will possibly be sirens, what’s your plan?  Have one or choose another synagogue.
➡️ PLAN YOUR SHELTER PATH TO/FROM SYNAGOGUE - If an alert goes off en route, where will you go to be protected if on the way?
➡️ IN SYNAGOGUE, WHERE IS THE SHELTER?  Does it have capacity? - If an alert goes off in synagogue, KNOW where you will go.  Walk over and check the path and capacity.
➡️ ARE YOU SLOW?  - In High Risk areas, stay home.  Medium and Low risk, have a plan if there is a siren.
➡️ CHILDREN?  Discuss with your children what to do in case there is a siren.  Leave young children at home in High risk areas.
➡️ CARRY YOUR WEAPON.
— If you have a gun license, it is a MITZVAH to carry your gun on Shabbat, even without an eruv.
— Try to have AT LEAST one armed person in every synagogue.
— Have Pepper spray? Or a Knife (small size, approx. width of palm, as allowed by law)? Carry it - we all remain at risk of terror attacks. (Note pepper spray, knives etc will not be allowed to enter govt offices, hospitals, malls or any security controlled site, and your workplace may require you to register.)
➡️ IF SIRENS, SHELTER EVEN IF IN AMIDAH
— If sirens are heard in the middle of the Amidah, one must go to the shelter.  After, restart Amidah from the beginning (others rule to start from where you stopped).
— Can’t get to shelter, LAY DOWN, all the way, hands on head (reduces risk by 80%).
— As per Homefront Command, wait AT LEAST 5 minutes (Homefront says 10) before exiting shelter or getting up.
➡️ HAVE A PHONE AVAILABLE
— Every synagogue needs a PHONE ON for immediate use on Shabbat.  And with a red alert app in case it is hard to hear sirens.
— You may carry and keep a cell phone on in your pocket.  Set to silent, and set red alert apps to “override silent mode”.
➡️ DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL POLICE !! - If anything suspicious, CALL POLICE immediately!  Dial 100
➡️ ALL INSTRUCTIONS FROM HOME FRONT COMMAND and your City must be strictly obeyed.  If instructed to shut yourself in, do not leave the house even for prayer.
It is a mitzvah to take actions to protect and save and preserve life on Shabbat, not a violation.  But ONLY actions which do so.
❗️This is a LIFE and DEATH WAR - due to Pikuach Nefesh you MUST have a way to receive alerts on Shabbat and Holy-days!  Here’s how…
SILENT CHANNELS - Radio & TV stations go “silent broadcast” for Shabbat, ONLY alerts.
No TV or Radio?  STREAM IT on phone or computer.
➡️ SILENT TV -  Channel 14 - stream https://www.now14.co.il/live/ (doesn’t work with adblocker)
➡️ SILENT RADIO -
• Kol Chai radio - on radio 92.8, 93 and 102.5. - stream https://www.93fm.co.il/radio/players/%d7%a9%d7%99%d7%93%d7%95%d7%a8-%d7%97%d7%99/
• Kol Barama Radio - on radio 92.1, 104.3, 105.7 and 107.6. - stream https://kol-barama.co.il/live/
• Galei Israel - on radio 89.3, 94 and 106.5. - https://www.rlive.co.il/station/galey-israel
➡️ ON COMPUTER - leave a computer open to https://www.oref.org.il/en (only in Israel) - alerts will display and sound on the screen. Turn OFF screen saver, sleep and hibernate so the computer doesn’t turn off.
➡️ VIA APP - leave on phone with red alert app.  Set app to YOUR area so it only alerts for your area.  We suggest Tzofar Red Alert or Homefront Command - available in Play Store and App Store.  IF an alert goes off for your area CLICK THE PHONE TO VERIFY ALERT TYPE - to see if infiltration!   Yes, on Shabbat - this is Pikuach Nefesh!
⁉️ ENGLISH SILENT CHANNEL - is there a silent channel in English?  NO.  But you can use Pikud HaOref ON SCREEN in English, see “ON COMPUTER” option above.

There was a terrorist car ramming attack in Jerusalem this morning.
The terrorists drove their car into a group of ultra Orthodox Jews and wounded them slightly and then got out the car and tried to shoot them but the gun jammed
They then dropped the weapon and ran.
Tumblr media
Here is the Carlo type weapon that was found which the terrorist dropped after it jammed.
Tumblr media
The car of the terrorists had an axe in it which they luckily did not take out and use.
Three people are lightly hurt in the car-ramming attack in Jerusalem, police say.
Thanks to the jamming of the terrorists' weapons, a major disaster was avoided.
