i tell the sun i love her
and in return
she gives me freckles under my eyes
tans my shoulders
streaks my hair
warms my chest
tells my soul that life is still worth living

when you whispered
can I?
my heart skipped a beat
no one else ever asked
no one else ever cared if I said yes

my love for you lasted the longest
but it was also the saddest
i wish competency
wasn't such a turn on
i wish it wasn't so easy
to romanticize someone
i could never be with
i wish i was satisfied
with just friends
but if i'm being honest
i wasn't
i wish i could be happy
for your wife and kids
but if i'm being honest
i'm not
but most of all
i wish it didn't take all this time to realize
i was too in love with you for far too long

we can just be you and me hand in hand walking nowhere
laughing hard at nothing with no plans of stopping
we can just be car rides where i ask you to drive
if you let me change the station
i'll let you keep the windows open
we can just be the best and worst things
that have happened to each other
we can just be broken pieces glued together
we can just be north star and full moon
we can just be your trust and my fear of letting go
you can just be you
and i can just be me
and we can just be us

I just finished the book "When he leaves you" by Michaela Angemeer.
I'm totally overwhelmed how poetic she talks about her emotions and I can relate in so many points.
Being totally happy about reading this I decided to show you some of the things I felt with my heart, of the self healing process and the most relatable words in this book.
It literally made me cry and go through all these phases again for the time of reading, but that's okay. I loved this book so much.
