To be honest, the reason that I'm mostly excited about "The Idea of You" is because of Anne Hathaway. The edits that would be made are what I'm more excited about.
Also, the scene packs would help me create more scenarios/story ideas about Mirandy or Emily and Andy.

Lady Cassidy's Lover
Tumblr media
Summary: 1919 England, Emma Cassidy, wife of a baronet, finds herself trapped in a loveless marriage after the war leaves her husband, Neal, paralyzed from the waist down and unable to produce an heir.
Despite the obstacles, she sticks by her husband's side at Goldby Hall, his family's estate, but when she meets former army lieutenant and Neal's aloof gamekeeper, Killian Jones, she feels curiously drawn to his distant blue eyes and quiet demeanor.
At first, she seeks him out for reprieve from her soulless, mundane existence at Goldby Hall, but what starts out as purely physical quickly turns into more than either of them expects.
But Emma is a baronetess, wife of an aristocrat and Killian is a working class servant. Their love affair is frowned upon, and she risks losing her title, her wealth and her position in the world by being with him. But she is determined to get her happy ending with the man she loves. Even if it means losing everything else in the process.
A/N: Despite Emma's last name and marriage to Neal, this NOT a swanfire fic! This definitely ends with Captain Swan so if you're expecting swanfire, this is not for you.
This is the Lady Chatterley's Lover au no one asked for. I had never read the novel but when I watched the newest movie adaptation (there are 4 that I know of), I simply had to write this for CS even though I already have a mountain of wips in my doc. This fic will mostly be following the 1981 and 2022 versions. If you haven't watched the 2022 version, I highly recommend it, if no other reason than to watch Jack O'Connell.
This fic deals with mature themes (some of which the book was banned for back when it was written), adultery, postwar, language, smut.
Hope you enjoy!

We've got to live, no matter how many skies have fallen—D. H. Lawrence, Lady Chatterley's Lover
Chapter One
Emma releases a heavy sigh as she slumps down onto the sofa, relieved the ceremony is over with. If only the day were done too, so she wouldn't have to be subjected to dancing and all the other useless traditions of a wedding reception. Now she has to listen to dreadful toasts and her and Neal's family drone on about how perfect she and her new doting husband are together.
"So, how does it feel?" One by one, her sister, Mary Margaret unbuckles Emma's shoes and pulls them off her tired feet.
Emma shakes her head. "I don't know. Ask me tomorrow." Perhaps then she'll feel differently about exchanging vows with a man she barely knows.
She and Neal had met and courted shortly before he was shipped off to war, and during his leave, he had confessed he'd hated being without her and asked her to marry him. She had said yes and they were quick to get married before he returns to the front. Their fathers may have had a hand in rushing things along as well. Britain declared war with Germany three years ago, heightening Sir Rumpelstiltskin's long-held desire to see his only son marry and produce heirs to their fortune.
Emma's father, Sir Leopold, wants her to have a stable husband, and who better than a man with a hereditary rank and title? She and Mary Margaret were raised in Kensington by Sir Leopold, a royal academician and their mother, Eva, a well-educated socialist, and had what one might call an aesthetically unorthodox childhood. They had been taken to Paris, Florence and Rome to breathe in art, and to the Hague and Berlin for socialist conventions where the speakers spoke in every civilized tongue.
Emma comes from wealth and Neal from aristocracy, so some could say it's the perfect match, except for the fact she has not known him long enough to truly love him. But from her perspective, this marriage is the perfect arrangement. The perfect way to get her father off her back about finding a suitable husband like her sister's. Furthermore, she does not have to worry about getting hurt by someone she does not love. She has experienced what it's like to lose someone she loves. She lost her mother ten years ago to illness and had to witness her father almost become a shell of a man without her. Emma made up her mind long ago she would never give her heart to a man. She would never submit to him emotionally.
She has been with men before, of course, but none she had loved.
A man is like a child, and if he doesn't get what he wants, he whines and fusses, exposing an unpleasant side of himself. But a woman can yield to a man without yielding her inner, free self. A woman can take a man without truly giving herself away. Certainly, she can take him without giving herself into his power. Rather, she can wield the power over him.
"You need to eat something."
"I need to get out of this dress first." She doesn't quite care for the high-waisted empire line, the tiered skirt made of dreadful lace or the sleeves that fall to her elbows. It reminds her of a tablecloth rather than a dress. Don't get her started on the extravagantly large bouquet of flowers that nearly touched the ground when she held it. And she'd tossed away the Juliet veil as soon as she had returned to the bridal suite.
Mary Margaret agrees as she takes her hand and pulls her up, helping Emma out of her wedding gown and into a simpler dress for the reception.
"How do I look?" Emma asks once she's in it, twirling around in the green dress to give her sister the full effect.
Mary Margaret smirks. "Well, I doubt Neal will want to stay long at the reception."
Emma's cheeks warm as she stands in front of the mirror and removes her earrings, replacing them with emerald ones that will match her dress. She and Neal have not even had sex yet, so tonight will be their first time. "You don't think his mother would've approved?" Neal's mother was the daughter of a viscount before she died.
"Well, I'm not entirely sure I do."
Emma rolls her eyes at her sister as she recoats her lips in red lipstick. "Are we talking about the dress...or the wedding?" Not everyone can find their prince charming as she did. Mary Margaret's marriage to David was definitely not forced or rushed. They are true love, as she always likes to boast. "We had to marry quickly before he returns to the front in the morning."
"Yes, but couldn't you have just had sex with him instead of marrying him?"
Emma laughs. "Mary Margaret! Be serious." She studies herself in the mirror, turning and running her hand over her dress, deciding to leave her blonde hair braided into a crown atop her head. She looks like herself, but somehow different now that she's married. She had honestly never thought this day would come.
"I am. It's much less commitment, and it's all Neal will want anyway."
"Neal's not like that. He's kind and thoughtful. He makes me feel safe."
"You mean safe from getting hurt?"
Emma looks up to see Mary Margaret's reflection in the mirror as the brunette narrows her eyes. But Emma knows she can't lie to her sister. Mary Margaret would see right through her. Emma stands and turns around to face her. "Precisely."
Mary Margaret places her hands on Emma's shoulders. "See, that's just it. If you never open that heart of yours up to anyone, you'll grow old and gray without ever experiencing the wonderful things life has to offer."
"I do experience the wonderful things life has to offer." Not that sex is really that wonderful. It has always been merely a way to let off some steam.
Mary Margaret tilts her head. "I'm not talking about sex. I'm talking about love."
The clearing of a throat interrupts their conversation when Neal steps into the room with a tray of three wine glasses. "I brought reinforcements."
The two women blush when they realize he must have heard the tail end of their conversation.
Mary Margaret goes over to Neal and grabs one of the glasses, taking a sip. "You read my mind."
"I nearly drank yours on the way up," he tells her, chuckling as he hands one to Emma and takes the other one for himself. Setting down the tray, he clinks his and Emma's glasses together. "Cheers."
"Cheers." Emma smiles at her new husband and takes a sip.
"Our fathers are preparing their toasts."
Emma groans, not looking forward to going downstairs. "Can we face them together?"
"Of course." He smiles at her, and she has to admit, Neal is not the worst man she could've chosen for a husband. He's handsome and charming, his eyes crinkling at the corners when he smiles. She can tell he cares for her. "You look beautiful, Ems."
She offers a smile in return. "Thanks."
After they finish their wine, she takes his offered hand, allowing him to lead her downstairs, where their fathers give speeches and announce their hope for a new heir to Goldby.
~*~
Two years later
Dearest Mary Margaret,
I knew the war would change us all, I just didn't know how much. It feels as though it ended half a lifetime ago, not half a year. Neal and I have already moved away from London, and we've just arrived at Goldby, his family estate. Once we get settled in, I expect to write to you often.
Your loving sister,
Emma
Lady Cassidy gazes vacantly through the window as the motor-car winds through the park of oak trees. The sky is about as gray and murky as the future, for who knows what tragedies it may hold. Clouds of smoke rise from the chimney of the pit in the distance where Misthaven village struggles to stay afloat beyond the park gates.
The car pulls up in front of the eighteenth century home made of brown stone that sits on the top of a knoll, overlooking the park. This is her new home in the smoky Midlands where she and Neal will finally begin their married life at Goldby Hall, the family seat. His father had died of heart failure, and Neal is now baronet. But he claims his father died of chagrin since he and Emma are without a child. And they most likely will be childless forever. Not only did they never get the chance to consummate their marriage the night of their honeymoon since she had been too exhausted and he had been too anxious about returning to war, they never will.
The chauffeur opens Emma's car door and grabs her luggage.
"Thank you." She steps out, taking in her new home. This place is nothing like her childhood house in London. Goldby certainly needs a lot of work.
The housekeeper, Mrs. Potts, who worked for Rumpelstiltskin, approaches with her husband to greet them. "Welcome, Sir Neal. We've been praying for you."
Mr. Potts helps him out of the car, picking him up and placing him into his wheelchair. An explosion during the war left Neal paralyzed from the waist down, and the doctor said he may never be able to walk again.
Emma tries not to think about that, however. She tries not to think about how she may never get pregnant or be able to give birth to a child as long as she's with Neal. She will never get to raise children or watch them grow up and run around the park at Goldby. She can't think of herself anymore though. She is married to a baronet, whom she vowed to have and to hold, for better and for worse, for richer and for poorer, in sickness and in health until they are parted by death. After he returned from war, he told her he could never lose her, and she promised he never would.
She will spend the rest of her life keeping that promise.
"Mr. and Mrs. Potts, this is my wife, the new Lady Cassidy."
Mrs. Potts turns around to greet her with a curtsy. "It's so nice to meet you, milady."
Emma smiles, bows her head and steps toward her. "Nice to meet you."
Neal wheels himself over to his wife, and the four of them avert their attention to the worn-looking house towering over them. "There's plenty of work to be done," Neal comments. "Hire back all the workers we can, Mrs. Potts. Old girl's seen better days."
Emma places a hand on the back of his chair and tries to be optimistic. "We'll bring her back to life."
~*~
"Killian Jones." Sir Neal looks up from the application in his hand from where he sits at the other side of the desk. "You, uh, worked for my father before the war?"
"Aye, sir. For two years." When he returned, he heard Rumpelstiltskin had passed and that Neal would be taking over and hiring new staff.
"And you were an army lieutenant?"
Killian nods. "I was very sorry to hear about your father. My condolences, sir." He wishes he could say Sir Rumpelstiltskin was a good man, but that would be a lie. He was ridiculous, chopping down trees in the forest and weeding men out of his colliery to shove them into the war while he, himself, was a coward who stayed safe at home and buried his country in heaps of debt while claiming to be patriotic.
"Thank you." Neal looks at him skeptically. "Do you honestly believe returning to gamekeeping will be satisfying after your time as an officer?"
Killian shrugs, his fingers drumming along his wool cap. If he could, he would leave. Every night, he dreams of escaping to a new place where a new voice says his name with warmth, where eyes filled with love look at him instead of ones filled with hatred and betrayal, where he is not dismissed. There is no freedom here, there never will be. Milah doesn't love him, but nevertheless she holds him close. One more possession.
"Bit of quiet would do me good. I've seen enough of what war does to men." Not only had he seen men brutally die in battle, but his brother had been one of them. Every day, he tries to push away the horrific images that have plagued him since the war. Every day he tries to forget. About the war, about her. Being a gamekeeper, tending to the animals, breeding them, enjoying the quiet of the forest while protecting it will be therapeutic for him.
"Hmm. As have I." Sir Neal has learned firsthand what war can do to men. He himself was paralyzed from the waist down.
Rumors about his injury had spread before Neal came to Goldby.
Neal sets the application down and joins his hands on the desk. "Very well then. Welcome back, Mr. Jones."
"Thank you, Sir." Killian turns around and heads out of Neal's study, moving past the long line of men seeking employment. He was lucky the baronet had hired him so quickly, and he is grateful. Killian receives a monthly war pension, but since he and Milah are still legally married, she's entitled to half of it. So now he is stuck in Misthaven, barely skimming by to make ends meet while Milah prances around with various menfolk of the village, spending the money he had earned by going to battle and risking his life.
Now he spends restless, lonely nights in his cottage, thinking about his brother and the war and everyone else he has lost.
But at least he has Jolly to keep him company.
He returns home to his cottage, where she's waiting for him at the door. His lips crack into a big smile when he sees her. "There's my good lass." He kneels down to ruffle a hand through her fur as she yaps, wagging her tail excitedly.
She truly is a good dog and the best companion he could hope for. She's loyal and trustworthy and always appreciates his affections, unlike his wife who betrayed him to be with other men.
After everything that's happened, Jolly is the one good thing in his life.
All he has left.

Sunday, February 13th
2:37 PM
Ethan settles into an armchair, in the inn’s common room, watching the falling snow outside. He’s waiting for Genevieve to come down from their room, so he can fulfill his promise of taking her to the beach just down the street.
He’s not excited about the idea, especially with the snowstorm getting stronger, but he’s going to do it. If only for the smile he knows will be on his wife’s face the minute her feet hit the sand.
They agreed Friday night, after Leland had given them a few days off, to go away for Valentine’s Day. Escape Boston and the drama that lived there.
He and Gen had resolved their fight, discussed the issues they were facing, last night. After a day of quiet contemplation with each other. But he still feels uneasy, his mind still troubled. He still doesn’t exactly understand why Gen felt the way she did, but what he does know is that he’ll do whatever it takes to make the sorrow, fear and pain he unknowingly bestowed upon her go away.
So here they were in Maine, an hour and a half away from home, getting some much needed quality time together.
She’s already signed them up for a variety of themed activities that the inn is offering for their Valentine’s Day Retreat. Ethan isn’t too keen on any of them, but he’ll do it, no questions asked, because he knows it will make Genevieve happy. And maybe, like the inn’s brochure for the retreat says, they’ll rekindle their romance and get back on the same page.
Even if, in Ethan’s mind, they were never off it to begin with.
“Oh, a look like that on Valentine’s Day Eve can’t be good.” An older man stirs Ethan from his thoughts, sitting in the armchair across from him. “I didn’t mean to disturb, but it looked like you could use some company.”
“It’s alright, I’m just waiting for my wife. For some reason I agreed to take her to the beach in the middle of a snowstorm.”
“You know, my wife is the same way. Love the beach, no matter the season.” The man smiles, eyes drifting to the ring on Ethan’s left hand.
They agreed to wear their wedding bands on the trip. Gen had asked after apologizing for saying they weren’t truly married.
Although she was right, in a sense. While their elopement was real in their hearts and minds, in the grand scheme of things, it wasn’t.
Genevieve wasn’t legally his wife, yet, and Ethan was counting the days until she is. Even during the last month, when it may have seemed like he was disinterested, he was anxiously awaiting the day where he can openly call her his wife, and himself her husband.
“How long have you two been married? Is it your first Valentine’s Day as husband and wife?”
“That is actually a complicated answer.” Ethan chuckles, sitting up in his seat. “We eloped, secretly, I’m Paris six months ago. Though that had no legality to it. Our official wedding as she calls it, is three months from tomorrow.”
“Where’s the wedding?”
“Codman Estate, about thirty minutes outside Boston. Our theme is ‘rustic chic’, which means absolutely nothing to me. But as long as Gen is happy, I could care less what the theme is.”
“A wise man.” He smiles again, the wrinkles on his face exaggerated. “I’m Edmond, by the way.” He reaches across the small space, extending his hand.
“Ethan.”
“So, Ethan, what had you looking so troubled? If you don’t mind my asking.”
“Another complicated answer I’m afraid.”
“Oh, nothing can ever be too complicated. Have you apologized?”
Ethan shakes his head, laughing quietly. “Yes. I did.”
“Good, that’s the first step. The second is making sure you make the loaf out of Valentine’s Day.”
“That is the plan, which is honestly the reason I agreed to take her to the beach.”
“Mm,” Edmond smiles, fondly. “There’s nothing better than seeing the woman you love happy.”
“You’re right.”
3:22 PM
He watches her from his spot on the cold sand, collecting shells and rocks. Inspecting one meticulously before either placing it back gently on the shore, or stuffing it in her coat pocket. She did the same thing in Miami, almost a year ago, when they’d taken a midnight stroll along the deserted beach. In fact, Gen does it on every beach they go to. A fact he once deemed childish, now one of the most endearing things about her.
Every shell she takes home gets put in the vase on their mantle, a visual memory she can look at every day. Much like the box she keeps under their bed, the one filled with memories of their life together.
She shrieks from her new spot, quickly picking up something he can’t see.
“Babe, look!” Gen skips back to him, a tiny bolt of pure happiness. “Sea glass! We barely get it up here.”
“Exciting, love.” Ethan stands, brushing away the sand. “Are you ready to go? We should head back before the snow gets worse.”
“Yeah okay.”
Ethan offers her his hand, smiling when she takes it without hesitation. Walking back to the car in comfortable silence.
He’s always loved the quiet, and now his favorite version is the one that comes with Genevieve. The comfort and security she offers unlike anything he’s had before.
Ethan looks over at his wife, a soft smile as he takes her in. The redness on her cheeks, the snowflakes collecting in her hair and on her lashes. She’s a snow angel brought to life. Her effortless beauty somehow magnified by the winter storm.
He already planned to make the most out of the weekend, but seeing her in this moment - so happy and unburdened - Ethan’s more determined than ever to ensure his wife has the Valentine’s Day she deserves.
Make sure that when they return to Boston on Tuesday, there’s no longer a single doubt in her mind that he is completely and unquestionably devoted to her, and only her for the rest of his life.
“Thank you for indulging me.” Gen turns to him when they make it to the car.
“You’re welcome. You know I’d do just about anything for you.” Ethan leans down, pressing a soft kiss to her ever inviting lips.
When her arms come around his neck, he pushes her against the side of the car. His kisses turning more passionate.
“We’re in public.” Gen whispers, eyes still closed.
“No one’s around.”
“Who are you and what have you done with my PDA hating husband?”
“Perhaps I’m simply feeling the affects of the holiday, Rookie.”
“I don’t know if I believe that, but I’ll take it.” She closes the space between them, smiling into the kiss.
Monday, February 14th (Valentine’s Day)
4:39 AM
They’re all just standing there, watching her. A dark wave of sorrow engulfing the small trauma bay.
“Gen.”
There’s a hand on her shoulder, one that tries to pull her away from Ethan, extract her hand from his.
“Gen, you have to let him go.”
“No.” She does even recognize her own voice, so hoarse from crying that it can barely be heard over the commotion of the E.R.
“That isn’t Ethan, he’s gone. Let him go.” It’s then she realizes who the voice belongs to, Harper is beside hee. Looking almost as devastated as she does.
“I can’t.” Her eyes well with tears again, as she looks at Ethan’s pale face, the now dried blood that dropped onto the gurney.
“You have to. Let him go and hold onto me.” Harper gently pulls her away, both watching as Ethan’s hand slips from Genevieve’s.
She wakes with a start, heart racing as she sits up. Frantically scanning the room for Ethan and quickly getting up when she sees him in the chair by the fireplace in their suite, reading quietly.
“The nightmare again?” He looks up when she’s in front of him, taking off his glasses and closing his book.
“Yeah.” Gen settling in his lap, sniffling back tears when he kisses the side of her head. “I’m sure it’ll go away in a few more days.”
“Most likely.” He can feel her trembling slightly, his hand on her cheek. “I’m right here, G.”
“I know.”
Gen takes a deep breath, moving to snuggle closer until Ethan winces in pain. Her eyes going wide, leaping off Ethan’s lap, guilt on her face. Stupidly forgetting that he’s still injured from the accident.
“Did I hurt you? I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay.” He reaches for her hand, his voice tender.
“No. I totally forgot like an idiot, I —“
“Gen,” Ethan pulls her to stand in front of him. “I’m fine. They’re just bruises. You and I both know they’ll heal in a week or two. I’m a little sore but that’s it. Come back and sit with me, love.”
“Are you sure? I don’t want to hurt you.”
“I’m sure.”
Gen nods, settling back on his lap cautiously. She closes her eyes, gingerly placing her head on his shoulder.
She can almost feel and hear his heartbeat from her position, and it’s all she needs to make the shadows of the nightmare go away.
“So, out of curiosity, had we not gotten the PTO, what were our original Valentine’s Day plans?” Gen tilts her head back, just barely catching the smile on Ethan’s face.
“Do you remember that drive-in I took you to on our second date?”
“Of course. They were playing Grease that night.”
“Well, they’re showing it tonight, and my plan was to take you and recreate our second date.”
“Seriously? That’s incredibly romantic of you.”
“It was also going to serve as my apology date for canceling all our plans from last month.”
“Oh.” Her face drops, feeling guilty again. “So, if I hadn’t blown up at you, —“
“Hey,” Ethan smiles, softly, taking her face in his hand. “None of that. Remember what I said yesterday, you’ve no reason to feel guilty. We talked about it, apologized and moved on.”
“I know that, but I still… I still feel terrible about the whole thing.”
“G, you can’t exactly help the way your mind interprets and reacts to changes.”
“Except you kinda can, it’s called therapy.” She sighs, “I just don’t understand why. It wasn’t about you being busy, you have been since the day we met. I married a workaholic. How dedicated you are to our work and medicine, it’s one of the things I love about you. And it’s never been a thing for me before, you know? So why now?… I feel so stupid for letting myself get so worked up because you canceled a few dates and we didn’t get the usual amount of romance and intimacy we had before. I don’t get it.”
“So, we take the steps necessary to find out why, and ways to make sure you never feel that way again. Especially the part where you were too afraid to tell me in the first place.”
“We?” The smallest semblance of a smile graces her face, Gen’s eyes filled with unshed tears.
“Yes. What happened wasn’t entirely your fault, I played a part in it, too. So, yes, we.”
She nods, a single tear running down her cheek as she leans in to kiss him.
They’ve always been a team, since that very first day, and Genevieve had somehow lost sight of that. But sitting here with him, on a romantic getaway, she’s reminded.
Ethan is her husband, her support system.
“I love you, you know. A lot.” Gen whispers as they pull apart, resting her forehead against his.
“I do know, sweetheart, and I love you, too. Now and always.”
Tuesday, February 15th
The elevator dings as they make it to their floor, Ethan leaning down to take her bag along with his own.
“You know, I’m more than capable of carrying my own luggage.” She turns as they walk down the hall to their front door, reaching for her bag. Only to have Ethan move away from her hand.
“I’m being chivalrous, G. A gentleman carries his wife’s luggage.”
“It’s 2022, old man, chivalry is dead.”
“In this house it isn’t.”
Gen laughs, the sound echoing in the empty corridor. “Oh, Nat and Bryce dropped Jenner off this morning. So be prepared to be assaulted by our golden retriever.”
“He was never this rambunctious before you came into our lives.”
“That, babe, is just proof that I brought joy and happiness into your sad and lonely lives.”
Ethan laughs, rolling his eyes with a smile. He drops the bags to unlock the door and opens it. Gen’s about to walk in when Ethan stops her, blocking the doorway with his arm.
“What?”
“Hang on.” He leans down, picking her up bridal style.
“Are you about to carry me over the threshold? It’s not our wedding night.”
“I’m practicing. We only have three months until the big day.”
They laugh, faces illuminated by the light from the large windows. He puts her down in the living room, before walking back to the door.
“Knowing us, though, it’ll happen exactly the way it did when we eloped; the two of us stumbling into our hotel room tipsy and making out.”
“Nothing wrong with that.” Ethan winks at her from the doorway, carrying their bags in from the hall. “Do we even have a room booked for the night?”
“Babe, Hanna and I booked the hotels for us and the guests, like, six months ago. We have one room for you and the boys to get ready in, and the bridal suite for me and the girls, that will also be our room after the wedding, at The Celestial and a bunch blocked out at the cheaper hotels.”
“Oh. Did I know that?”
“You did. But it’s okay.”
Gen plops down on the couch, pulling out her phone; Ethan and Jenner joining her a moment later, one on either side.
“Oh my god!” Gen gasps, excitedly. “Hanna emailed me, guess what’s ready to be sent out!”
“What?”
“Our invites!”

A/N: Next chapter is short, just a peak at Gen’s bridal shower. And then we jump ahead to April - March doesn’t have a chapter for it. Since it’s an uneventful month.
Thanks for being so patient, I love you all a lot.

pre-series/season 1-3*
a turn of the earth by microcomets (time travel, 95k, standford era, m)
i think everyone’s read this at this point but if u haven't. what are u doing. go read it. it’s absolutely everything i reread it in the week before the finale without remembering half of the stuff it talked about and i was a WRECK. if u think about standford era dean every day read this. cas punches john winchester in the FACE.
geography by aeli_kindara (3k, teen and up, warnings for discussion of rape/non-con and prostitution)
not dean/cas but a really wonderful and needed conversation with sam and dean during 2x02.
season 4
so says the sword by komodobits (85k, e)
yeah. i dont need to say anything.
consequences of falling by fayjay (37k, e, background samruby, warnings for rape/non-con)
THISSSS FIC. pls it’s perfect literally everything i wanted when i was watching s4 and obsessed with love as an act of worship + ruby and cas parallels. ruby and cas get drunk together! ruby says this: “dean and castiel sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. First comes love, then comes the fall from grace, then comes battling the hosts of hell and wishing that you’d managed to get your skinny ass laid before the freaking apocalypse”! what more could u want!
named by rc_machlan (94k, m)
literally the best fic in the world i am not going to say Anything if you love dean and angels and the mythology of s4-s5 that was promptly dropped, you absolutely have to read this.
four people ruby seduced & one she actually fell for (or: ruby's epic love affair with humanity in general and sam in specific) by tuesday (3.7k, e, samruby, ruby/jo)
this is more background deancas than anything else and does contain brief, not romantic in any way dean/ruby and dean/cas, but like. if u love ruby (which i do) u have to read this.
season 5
final fantasy by orange_crushed (1.9k, m)
endverse.....this made me want to die
the (mostly accidental) courtship of dean winchester by tuesday (11k, m)
a classic for a reason. really cute and soft and the handprint and cas beating dean up in 5x18 are angelic marriage rites. what more could you ask for.
the girlfriend experience by rageprufrock (15k, explicit)
of Course i mean of COURSE. thee s5 deancas fic.
strike me down and i’ll come back more powerful than you can possibly imagine by trinityofone (10k, gen)
post 5x22 dean and cas rescue sam from hell with the help of some special guests. PERFECT. the only valid good omens crossover.
season 6**
something stupid by zatnikatel (20k, e)
this broke my heart and put it back together. one of my favourite cas characterizations, takes place over s5-s6 and it’s just stunning.
a crash course in someone else’s history by annie d (11k, teen and up)
s4 cas ends up in the body of cas in 6x20. fucking life-ruining.
season 7
make known by domesticadventures (16k, teen and up)
this is a really heartbreaking look at dean’s headspace near the end of s6 and throughout s7, and it’s really wonderful with a hopeful ending.
redemption road by a whole bunch of people (652k, virtual season, explicit)
oh boy. ok. know ur herstory ! this was written from 2011 to 2012 and it is thee s7 fic, a virtual season written by 17 fans all together. it’s very very long and it suffers sometimes from having being written a decade ago, but im making my way through it right now and it still fucking holds up. i really do recommend reading at least some of it, you can stop around halfway through and you should be fine.
season 8***
rinse, repeat by ias (3k, teen and up)
exploration of cas when naomi forces him to kill copies of dean and then his perspective in goodbye stranger.
my keeper by whelvenwings (5k, gen)
another goodbye stranger fic, this time with bonus artist cas!
though the course may change by imogenbynight (51k, e)
au after 8x23. i love this fic so much. dean accidentally ends up making himself have to go undercover with cas and pretend to be fake engaged. also, charlie and kevin. do i need to say more.
apres by imogenbynight (24k, e)
au after 8x23 where dean goes to find cas after the angels fall in paris 🥺
*i have found exactly one bela fic that i loved, and zero henriksen fics that i loved, so IF u have recs for those. i would appreciate that.
**mostly the s6 fics i read were uh...vampire dean fics...
***have found one (1) good dean/aaron fic but im still searching for the perfect purgatory crew fics

Ooh I’ve got one for the pairing and AU HC ask game! How about Adstrade and Victorian AU? 😯
OMG that is a wonderful one!! Hmm, let's see...I think I'll go TABverse for this one, shall I?
1. Having never encountered La Adler before, Lestrade first catches a glimpse of her image in Holmes' pocket watch. He's instantly smitten but of course says nothing at the time. Later, when the photo has been replaced by one of Molly Hooper, he ventures to question what happened to it. Holmes being Holmes, deduces his friends' interest. Later that week Lestrade receives a message with an enclosed tintype - the full photo from which the one in Holmes' watch had been made. Scrawled on the back in Holmes' distinctive handwriting is a name: Irene Adler. And an address in Paris, along with the cryptic words "presumed dead".
2. Lestrade takes his annual leave and heads to Paris, where he discovers the only resident of the address (per the maid) is Madame Norton. Disappointed that it's either a) she’s actually dead or b) that Madame Norton is Irene's married name, he starts to leave, but then the maid casually mentions that she's a widow and hope rises up (tempered with respect for her status). Casual questioning of the girl reveals that Madame has been widowed for just over a year, has no children, and is currently employed as an artist's model, Monsieur Norton's death having left her in some financial difficulties.
3. After some comical miscommunication regarding his presumed intentions (yes, he's romantically interested but no, he isn't trying to set her up as his mistress!), he and Irene strike up a cautious friendship that involves many months of mutual correspondence after his return to London. Lestrade struggles with his end but Irene is captivated by his dogged determination not to lost contact with her.
4. The following year she makes a clandestine appearance in London in male persona, startling Lestrade (who doesn't recognize her at all but to be fair, he never recognized Molly as Hooper from the morgue). She finally explains why she's persona non grata in the British Empire (dodgy doings with the King of Bohemia she isn't very proud of), and he vows to do his best to get her reinstated as an opera singer (she sings for him for the first time and he falls even more desperately in love with her).
5. Sherlock, who to be fair has been wrapped up in his own courtship of Molly Hooper, is taken somewhat by surprise when Lestrade demands his help and that of "that arrogant brother of yours who claims to be just a 'minor government official', which if he is I'll eat my hat!" in getting Irene repatriated. Sherlock realizes the depths of Lestrade's feelings and feels honour bound to caution him regarding Irene's character. Lestrade insists he knows her better than either Holmes brother.
6. Sherlock goes to Paris, determines that Irene is actually enamored with Lestrade and that she had no hand in the inspector's attempts to clear her name. She strongly insists that Sherlock encourage him not to hitch his wagon to hers because she's no good for him. All of this convinces him of her sincerity (but he has Mycroft interview her at some point just to be sure, since he's been taken in by her and his brother never has).
7. Ultimately Irene is allowed back to London in her own persona, where she and Lestrade continue their courtship (did I mention this is a slow burn lol) for another six months or so before she accepts his proposal of marriage. (Somewhere in there they discuss her first marriage and what happened to Godfrey Norton, which could either turn out to be murder by person or persons unknown, or else a terrible accident, depending on how long I'd like this fic to go on if it ever existed outside of this post).
8. There is definitely at least one Sherlock & Irene scene where they reminisce about their shared past and how it shaped their current relationships with Lestrade and Molly.
9. Lestrade and Irene have a small, quiet wedding suitable for her second marriage, she resumes her career as an opera singer, and they settle happily into married life.

across our great divide, there is a glorious sunrise
Summary: Once Hawkmoth is defeated, Ladybug rushes back to find her partner, to confess her love for him once and for all now that nothing was standing in their way. However, Chat Noir, one of the two halves of Paris' superhero team had vanished into thin air, nowhere to be found despite the sleepless nights of his lady combing an entire city to find him.Two months later, Ladybug meets Adrien in front of his mother's grave for the first time, and  apologizes to him for ruining his life at the expense of her duty to Paris.
Note:  this is an AU taking place after Hawkmoth was defeated where Adrien was homeschooled and therefore never met Marinette or Nino or any of his classmates, but was Chat Noir and only knew Ladybug as her superhero self.
Read in AO3:
Chapter 1:
Growing up, Adrien Agreste had gotten accustomed to silence. The silence in his lonely bedroom; the quiet, stern face Nathalie would put on while reviewing his work, the silence on his part that would follow a direct order he would inevitably obey.
The glare on his father wore when he slipped up in his fencing classes, or when he dared to ask what actually became of his mother spoke a lot more eloquently than any of his curt orders ever could.
And then one day, his life was surrounded by noise. One day, in return for his first and last attempt at going to public school, a chaotic kwami named Plagg flew out of a ring on his table, and his life had never been the same since. Plagg was the complete antithesis of his controlled life. He was chaotic, marked his territory wherever he went with cheese, and yowled and grumbled for it 10 times a day, but Adrien had never been happier. He had been given a responsibility to protect his city from a maniac who sent monsters every day to destroy it and to get his ring, and though he took it very very seriously, Plagg wasn’t just his friend, he was also his gateway to the outside world, and to Ladybug. In his head, Paris was a priority, but in his heart...Ladybug was.
Who he had desperately loved for the past 5 years.
Who he hadn’t really seen or talked to for the past 2 months.
Turns out finding that he lived with the maniac sending monsters every week to destroy him and his partner can change everything.
“Are we there yet?” Plagg bemoaned in his coat pocket. “How far away is it? You shouldn't let your bodyguard take the car with him.”
Despite his gloomy mood, Adrien smiled to himself. “You know I like to walk. And besides, I let you eat three wheels of cheese this morning, now that we’re on our own you can’t be eating every single minute like you used to.”
Plagg let out a grumpy snort, but didn’t say much after that.
Adrien gripped the white roses in his hand as he greeted the older security guard in the graveyard’s entrance, who tipped his hat and gave him a sympathetic smile in return.
Sympathy. That was all people seemed to spare for him these days.
Not that he was complaining, sympathy was what had gotten his Aunt Amelie to take over the Gabriel brand from London, and not leave several people’s livelihoods under his responsibility. Sympathy was when his cousin, who he generally knew to be someone who kept to himself, gave him a rare hug.
Sympathy was what he got when an entire city looked at him and saw a victim, and not a perpetrator in association with his father and Nathalie. Sympathy was what Officer Roger offered in the form of a cup of tea when he stormed out of his father’s prison that day.
Companionship was far and in between. Chloe visited him every week, left him with several applications for universities and a demand to look into them at least. Plagg was always there, no matter what, through the sleepless nights and lonely meals.
But they weren’t her.
He stopped when he saw his mother’s gravestone, the usual lump in his throat thickening. He had no one to blame but himself. Chat Noir was the one who walked away after seeing Gabriel Agreste carted away to prison by the authorities. Chat Noir was the one who ghosted Ladybug. And Chat Noir was the one who read Ladyblog updates about Ladybug’s solo, yet superficially useless patrols every single day and did nothing to fix it.
He had no right to complain about missing Ladybug when that was his doing.
Not that she’d be better off with him around.
“Hey again, mom.” Adrien managed to say as he placed the bouquet on his mother’s grave. “I-I know I said I wouldn’t be able to visit this week.” he stuttered stupidly, like a block of stone could resent him for interloping. “But yeah, I didn’t have much to do today so….” he trailed off, squatting in front of the gravestone. “Chloe dropped off a therapist’s number.” he managed to chuckle. “Pretty rich of her, don’t you think? She hates the very idea of therapy and doesn’t want to admit that she needs it too. She’s the most caring hypocrite ever.”
He couldn’t really find anything else to say. Which was even dumber, it wasn’t like there was anyone here who would get up and say that he was wasting away his life instead of getting it together.
He sat down on the grass, and twiddled with his thumbs for a while. Plagg, for his benefit, stayed hidden in his coat, letting out soft purrs every once in a while. He didn’t know what was worse: slowly coming to terms with the fact that his mother was dead, then finding out that she was in a coma and losing her all over again, or never really being able to understand why she had died, because his father was still being an asshole and refusing to answer him.
“You wouldn’t understand, Adrien.”
“If you didn’t understand why I became Hawkmoth, you’ll never be able to understand why your mother became sick.”
He realised then and there that his father would never know that he had spent the better part of his teenage years fighting against him. He didn’t deserve to know. Adrien didn’t want him to know, not someone as stubborn and…evil like him. He had practiced saying that word to describe his father after Plagg suggested it. It was like a bandaid for his bullet wounds for a while.
He started a little when he heard a familiar ‘whip’ behind him.
He’d know that sound anywhere. It was Ladybug’s yo-yo.
It couldn’t possibly be. He was just missing her so much it was starting to get to his head. Yeah. That was a reasonable explanation.
“H-hello.”
Adrien yelped as he stood up and spun around.
It was her.
Ladybug, his partner, his other half, was standing there, her hands raised up in peace.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to frighten you!” She stammered.
“It’s okay.” Adrien managed to squeak out. This was the first time he was seeing her in 8 weeks.
His heart thumped heavily as he got ready to fold into himself in guilt at leaving her high and dry. Imagine his surprise when he found out that she was doing the same.
“I can leave if you want me to.” She said in a small voice, and that reminded him that he wasn’t suited up as Chat Noir at the moment. “I don’t want to impose, I didn’t realise you were in the middle of-” she gulped audibly, then bowed and took out her yoyo. “Never mind, please forgive me, I’ll get going now-”
“Wait!” Adrien cut her off before she left and deprived him of his chance to see her again.
Ladybug stiffened and did as he said. His tongue felt dry as he gave the love of his life a once over. The voice that came out of her mouth was indeed hers, but it certainly didn’t sound anything like her. He had heard her loudly denounce his jokes and his attempts at flirting, he had heard her talk gently and kindly to confused akuma victims, he had seen her doubt herself and worry if they were going to make it. This was none of those instances.
“May I ask what you are doing here?” He remembered to sound polite somehow. He was Adrien Agreste now, the son of her worst enemy, not her partner Chat Noir, who had abandoned her.
He remembered with a painful pang how he used to tease her about her height, but she couldn’t have looked any smaller than she did then. Her eyes held fear, like she was expecting him to lash out at her.
“I...I was just in the neighbourhood.” she said. “And I saw you here, and I was hoping to talk to you- have been hoping to talk to you for a while now - not that I was stalking you!”
Something warm in Adrien’s chest bloomed, but it wasn’t enough to make him crack a smile. “No, it’s alright. I understand what you meant. What can I do for you, Ladybug?”
She opened her mouth, but nothing came out.
Was she going to ask him for an update on the status of his father? His heart sank. Ladybug was never a malicious person, but he supposed she was practical enough to do this.
“Do you want to know about any suspicious activity from my father?”
Ladybug’s eyes went round as saucers. “No! No, not at all! I didn’t- I would never- I mean, I wanted to- I came here to apologize?” she finished off awkwardly.
“Apologize?” Adrien echoed.
She nodded mutely. “I know that this will never make up for what happened, but -” she fisted her palms and exhaled. “I am so sorry Adrien. What happened to you, what he did to you - I can’t imagine what it is like to be in your situation right now and I have been kicking myself every day for being the one to put you in this position. I wanted to come and see you at your mother’s funeral, have been wanting to do it for a while actually but...with everything that was going on I didn’t think you’d really want to see the girl who put your father behind bars right?” she awkwardly laughed, rubbing the back of her neck.
Adrien blinked in confusion.
She was blaming herself for defeating Hawkmoth?
Why should she?
‘A-anyway! I just wanted to tell you that, and if you need any help with anything you need, please, just give the Ladyblog a buzz and I’ll be right there! If you want to. No pressure. If you want me to steer clear of you I can understand that too. The last thing I want to do is offend you-”
“Ladybug.” he interrupted her gently. “It’s okay.”
She blinked right back at him.
“I do not blame you for that. At all.” He crossed his arms as he gave her a reassuring smile. It was very much like her to go out and take responsibility if she felt like she did something wrong. Doesn’t mean he’d actually let her do it. “My father...he was a terrible man. He put several people’s lives in danger and kept on doing it for years, and you are the reason this city isn’t burning to the ground right now. You should be really proud.” he said sincerely. “Paris owes everything to you. You don’t have to feel bad for doing the right thing.”
Ladybug’s shoulders slumped, even though her expression looked less pained now. “You can still be angry with me, you know.”
“I’m not.” he insisted. “Believe me, I’m not. Thank you for coming here to talk to me though.” he twisted his ring nervously. “I greatly appreciate it.”
“Of course.” Ladybug nodded, giving him a small smile. “Will you let me know if you need anything? I’d be happy to help.”
‘What if I told you that I needed you?’ he thought helplessly.
Adrien nodded, without saying anything.
“Have a good day, Adrien.” Ladybug said with a shy wave, before pulling out her yo yo and swinging away.
Adrien walked up to the nearest bench and collapsed into a heap.
“Sooooooo.” Plagg popped out of his collar. “When are you going to tell her?”
“Shut up.”

AU where Douxie attended Arcadia Oaks High instead of the Academy?
Okay, so first off, I’m using my revised backstory for Douxie for this AU. Therefore, no time travel, and Douxie is literally only 17 years old. (However, he was born 1491 years ago.) Also, I’m only putting the first five fun facts above the cut because this is getting long.
1. Douxie got cast as Paris in the school play. He recognizes that Jim is using the Daylight sword, and Douxie knows that the Daylight sword is extremely dangerous. (Douxie also spies on Jim to be sure that yes, this is the real Amulet of Daylight.) One day, when Douxie and Jim are alone, Douxie reveals that he is a wizard and he helped make Jim’s amulet, and Jim needs to make a fake version of the sword or else Jim will kill Douxie and whomever is playing Tybalt. From there on, Douxie becomes an ally to the trollhunters. Archie does as well, though he’s far more cautious because he does not want to become lunch. The Hex Tech wizards might get involved as well?
2. A running gag is that Douxie keeps on flirting with girls/women... except according to him, he is not flirting. He is being chivalrous and it’s not his fault that in modern times American society believes that being chivalrous to someone of the opposite sex is flirting.
3. Douxie has a very warm perception to Claire joining the team right up until Claire claims the Shadow Staff. Not because it’s dark magic and it was Morgana’s staff once, but because it’s a staff.
Douxie: no you can’t use a staff yet you aren’t trained enough
Archie: Wow you sound just like another wizard we know
Douxie: Who?
Archie: Merlin.
Douxie: 😣 I hate to say it but maybe the old man had a point... but I was trained and she isn’t! 😣
Eventually Douxie comes around and starts training Claire in magic. Due to this, she has powers beyond shadowmancy.
4. Douxie’s worst fear in the pixie episode is of abandonment.
5. Ash Dispersal Pattern only has members from Arcadia Oaks Academy, so Douxie would either be teaming up with Claire or he’d be a solo guitarist for the Battle of the Bands
6. After Toby tries to give Jim flirting tips, Jim tries to go to Douxie for advice. After all, Douxie knows how to be flirtatious and charming. In a frustrated tone of voice he tells Jim that not only does he not intend to flirt with girls he also never learned how to speak to a potential romantic interest because wizards weren’t allowed to ever marry back in Camelot.
7. Douxie is not the waiter for the double date, specifically because Jlaire+Darby do not go to Benoit’s. They know that depending on how the conversation goes, there’s a chance that either Douxie will be awkwardly fifth-wheeling the date or Darci will be unknowingly fifth-wheeling trollhunting conversations.
8. The exorcism is tense. Douxie uses the shadow staff, plugging in his earbuds/headphones and listening to loud emo/rock music in order to block out Morgana. However, she tries to convince Strickler that he could have Barbara if he took the staff from Douxie, and Douxie ends up pulling out an earbud as he yells at Strickler about how Morgana is an illusionist. Afterwards, Morgana focuses on tormenting Douxie, calling him out on every single thing that he has feared since his childhood, as well as offering to give him power if he betrayed Merlin. Eventually, he tells her that he hates her. Morgana tries to claim that his loyalty to a master who never cared for him is blinding Douxie (untrue, Morgana was the one person other than Merlin who knew just how much Merlin loved Douxie.) Douxie then yells that he loved Morgana like family, and she threw that away. And by throwing that away, she ruined his life because her war with Merlin made Merlin decide to send Douxie and Archie away. Realizing that there was nothing she could do to make Douxie join her side, Morgana creates an illusion of Douxie’s hands being covered in black cracks, like those of a corrupted shadowmancer. She sneers about how he’s corrupted himself, and Douxie drops the Shadow Staff in shock. Douxie is on the side of “no let’s not stab Claire”.
9. Douxie isn’t around when Barbara, Ophelia, Javier, and Nancy first interrogate the kids. After all, he’s a year older than them, and thus he has different finals to study for.
10. When Douxie comes to the house, Barbara asks where his parents are. Before Douxie can make a snide comment about how he’s been asking himself that since he was an abandoned two year old, Archie tactfully reveals that he raised Douxie.
11. Douxie is very quiet when he learns that Claire found Merlin’s tomb. He never thought that Merlin could have died. He pulls his hood up and wraps his arms around himself.
“He promised he’d come back for me,” Douxie says.
“It’s been a millenium and a half,” someone else says, tone gentle but with a face of “dude people don’t live that long”
“I know of wizards who’ve lived twice that long” Archie says, glaring at everyone while wrapping himself protectively around his wizard.
12. Douxie fixes the amulet while everyone else is exploring the tomb. Jim is able to use the amulet to fight Gunmar. Draal lives.
13. Merlin has enough sense not to make the “Jim I’m your father” joke, not when his actual son is standing right next to Jim, overjoyed by how Merlin wasn’t actually dead.
14. In a total reverse of the “Douxie stop flirting”/“I’m not flirting” gag, Douxie starts acting weird and awkward around Krel. Jim, Toby, and Claire ask him what he’s doing, and Douxie tells them that he’s flirting with Krel. Or at least, trying to. When Krel sets up a rave in the Janus Order, Douxie ends up putting a hand over his chest and saying, “Be still my beating heart.”
15. Merlin gives the kids their armor, including Douxie. However, he accidentally made Douxie think he was going to finally get that staff. Douxie, trying to prove that he’s useful, enchants the armor so the three of them can put it on/take it off quickly. (Merlin is a little mean about how no, Douxie has not yet proven that he can have a staff, but also Merlin can’t make a staff for Douxie until he has his magic back.)
16. I’m not sure how Douxie would react to the whole troll!Jim thing aside from complaining that now Jim’s taller than him. But, I don’t know if this would make his relationship with Merlin more tense or not.
17. I feel like it makes a lot more sense for Douxie to go with Merlin and the trolls to New Jersey, plus it would be mean for Merlin to make him stay in Arcadia Oaks. In character, but mean. On the other hand, if Douxie were to stick around for 3Below, he would call Eli out on the “wizards and aliens hide among us” thing because hiding is a safety thing, possibly also joking that “oh no, what next, are the gays going to invade our humble town”. Also, Douxie slowly gets better at talking to Krel. Krel doesn’t seem to show any romantic interest in Douxie, but he also doesn’t do anything to indicate that he doesn’t like the idea of Douxie being romantically interested in him. At least, not until Krel gets concussed/knocked out (again) and put on pain killers. While high on pain killers, Krel tells Douxie, “Don’t tell Douxie but I might be in love with him.”

Maribat Winx Club AU Part 1
It was a beautiful day on the planet of Miracul
The planet Miracul was a beautiful planet full of magic and energy
The planet was home to the most powerful magical artifacts in all of magix (the magic dimension)
These artifacts were call the miraculous each held the ability to call powerful spirits to help the one who possess their artifact
The miraculous were guarded by the royal family generation after generation, it was their duty to make sure that the miraculous never fell into the wrong hands
It was to this family that Princess Marinette was born into with King Roland, Queen Clarisse, and the 5 year old Prince Jason
All loved the newest member of the family especially the young prince Jason
Jason: Is she going to be a fairy like you are mommy?
Clarisse: Yes dear, she most likely will. She'll be the fairy of energy like me
Roland: And if she's not a fairy you and I will teach her everything we know about fighting, right son?
Jason: Right dad! But until then I promise I'll protect her! Together we're going to be the best guardians of the miraculous yet! Right Marinette?
Marinette let out a giggle in response which Jason took as a yes
In the next months Jason was practically glued to his sister if not in lessons
He could always get her to stop crying and was always able to calm her down
The people also loved their prince and princess they knew that the future of Miracul was in good hands with those two
The kingdom was at peace for 6 months after Marinette was born, but then the Dark Ones attacked
The Dark Ones was a group of evil witches and wizards who want to take the powers of the miraculous for themselves and use that power to take over the magix dimension
Roland and Clarisse fought bravely with their allies, friends, and people of Miracul, but it was not enough
So with a heavy heart they sent their two children away
The hallway of the castle was in chaos as Queen Clarisse lead her son through the castle trying to get him to the magic portal
The palace shook as another attack hit their home
They were almost to the portal when Clarisse heard screams from down the hall
She knew what that meant. It meant that the Dark Ones had gotten into the palace and that she needed to protect her children at all cost
Queen Clarisse bent down so she was eye level with her son
Clarisse: Jason I need you to take Marinette to the portal room. You two need to go through the portal to somewhere safe. Do you understand?
Jason: Yes mommy
Clarisse: Good, take your sister and keep her safe
Clarisse hand Marinette, wrapped in her baby blanket that had her name stitched on it, over the Jason
Clarisse: I love you my children, I will always love you
Jason: I love you too mommy
The mother and son took off in opposite directions, Clarisse going to defend her home and Jason going to save his sister
As Jason made it to the portal room he ran to the portal
Jason *whispering*: Please send us somewhere safe
As Jason was about to step into the portal one of the Dark Ones blasted their way into the room. The shock wave sent Jason flying to the side of the room
Dark One: Well well lucky me I can take care of both royal brats with one blow
Jason shakily stood up: I will never let you hurt my sister
Dark One: We'll see about that
The Dark one shot a blast at the twin children but Jason dodge desperate to get back to the portal and get his sister to safety
Jason was just about the jump through the portal when he felt something wrap around his waist. Jason looked down to see and energy rop wrapped around him
At that moment Jason knew what he had to do
Jason looking down at Marinette: I love you Marinette
With that Jason gently put Marinette into the portal
Dark One: NO!! WHERE IS SHE?!? WHERE DID YOU SEND HER?!?
Jason turning around: Some where you'll never find her!
The Dark One let out a scream in frustration letting the energy rope disperse and sent a energy blast at Jason that hit him in the head and sent him flying through the portal
Dark One: NO!!!
It was then that the damage to the castle was too much and the portal was crushed by the falling ceiling making it so the Dark Ones would not be able to follow the young siblings
That day the kingdom of Miracul fell its people and royal family seemed to disappear in a single day
Only a small group of the King and Queen closest allies were able to escape, but none were able to say how
The kingdom of Miracul and the Miraculous themselves were lost, but the Dark Ones were also destroyed in the attack
It was a rainy day in Gotham, one of the biggest cities in the Magix dimension and a major hub of travel with all the major schools located around or near the city when Bruce Wayne, a teacher for Red Fountain a school for hero's, and his 8 year old adopted son Dick Grayson, found Jason in and ally way with a new white streak in his hair
Jason was taken into the family after an extensive search for his family
Made harder because Jason couldn't remember anything except for his own name
The Wayne's could only find out one thing about Jason that he was from the planet Miracul and as far as anyone knew the only survivor from that dark day
On a planet far from the others of the magix dimension named Earth in the city of Paris Marinette was found on a pile of flour sacks by a pair of bakers named Tom and Sabine Dupen-Cheng
The two bakers fell instantly in love with the young baby girl and her big blue eyes
They did everything they could to find the girl's family but it seemed they just didn't exist
So they took in Marinette, keeping her name the same
As Marinette grew older she developed a love for fashion and design
Marinette was always so energetic and whenever her parents' machines would die all Marinette had to do was touch them and it was like a new life would be put in them
Everything seemed perfectly normal until one night when Marinette was 16 she found a dark skinned girl fight what could only be described as a ogre and a group of nasty looking bugs in the park across from her home
Marinette could tell that the girl was in trouble so she grabbed a near by branch and ran into the battle
Marinette: How about you pick on somebody your own size
Marinette ran up to the ogre and smashed the branch over his head
The branch broke in two on impact
Ogre turning to face Marinette: Hey that hurt!
The girl: Well this is going to hurt a lot more
The girl shot what looked to be a orange energy beam at the ogre
The big bug like creatures started to surround Marinette
Marinette: Hey get away from me!
Suddenly a pink, electricity like, energy shot from Marinette hands zapping the monsters away
Ogre: Oh no not another fairy I got to get out of here!
The ogre opened what looked like a portal and he and the remaining bug like creatures ran through it
The girl: Wow girl you have some major winx
Marinette: What are you talking about what were those things
The girl introduced herself as Alya daughter to a noble family on a planet called Zenith
Marinette invited the girl to stay with her family so she could rest up a bit
Marinette explains to her parents that her friend just needed a place to stay for the night
Of course they agreed not having the heart to turn away the girl
Alya told Marinette everything she new about magic and the magix dimension
She even told Marinette about the school she was going to called Alfea, one of the best schools for fairies
As the girl's talked Alya convinced Marinette to come with her and train her powers
Marinette felt like she was in a dream
But there was only one problem
How was they going to convince her parents to let her attend a school on another planet, or at least the magic actually exists
It took a lot of effort but once Alya actually took them to Alfea they had no choice but to believe the girls
They didn't want to hold their daughter back from her full potential
They tried to go in to talk to the headmistress, Ms. Faragonda, to get Marinette registered but because they were not magical beings they couldn't enter the campus
Marinette promise her parents she would talk to the headmistress and be out as soon as possible with her
Ms. Faragonda did not know what to think of this small girl who claim to be from Earth and a fairy
There hadn't been fairies on Earth for hundreds of years, so how could Marinette be one
Faragonda could sense the magic radiating off Marinette
She hadn't felt this much energy since Clar-
No it was better not to go there, even the thought was impossible
But Faragonda couldn't get the thought out of her head especially after meeting Marinette's "birth parents" and sensing absolutely no magical energy in either of them
But either way Marinette was accepted into the school with all the other first year fairies
Marinette was in the same dorm room as Alya along with three other girls
Alix a Fairy of the Wind, Rose a Fairy of Nature, and Julika a Fairy of Music
The girls soon became close friends
Marinette made another close friend with one of the teacher's, Ms. Graham de Vanily, nephews Adrien
Adrien was studying at Red Fountain, but really wanted to be a sorcerer, but his father would never let him transfer to a different school
Marinette believed that people should be able to follow their dreams so she offer to teach him everything she learned about magic
Adrien agreed immediately and soon the two became closer than ever
Alya and Rose loved to tease Marinette that her and Adrien would end up together but Marinette didn't have those types of feeling for Adrien
Marinette took her studies very seriously
She was determined to show everybody that she belonged at the school
One the hardest tasks was getting her wings
It like it came second nature to her friends
Alya would transform into an orange and white crop top and skirt combo with oval shaped white wings
Alix would transform into a blue and white romper with sharp looking blue wings
Julika transformed into a lavender dress with darker shade of purple wings that were cresent shape
And Rose would transform into a pink dress with white capti leggings with a lighter shade of pink wings that were shaped like leaves
Marinette wasn't able to transform until she and Adrien ran into a pushy witch who wouldn't leave Adrien alone until Marinette stepped in
That seemed to anger the witch who turned all her negative attention onto Marinette
With the incentive of staying alive and Marinette was able to transform into red dress with little black sparkles with pale blue wings
A couple of good energy blast from Marinette scared the witch away in no time
Marinette did meet somebody she was very much interested in when Adrien introduced her and her friends to his friends at Red Fountain
They were all able to meet up on a school holiday called Founders Day
Adrien waving his arms to get the girls' attention: Hey over here you guys
Marinette seeing Adrien: Look guys there's Adrien
Marinette ran over to Adrien wrapping him up in a hug
Adrien: I'm glad I can finally introduce you girls to my friends.
Alya: And we can't wait to meet your friends
Adrien: Guys I would like to introduce Nino, my best friend besides Marinette, Jon, and Damian they are go to Red Fountain with
Rose: It's very nice to meet you guys!
Marinette: Adrien has told me so much about you all
Jon jumping in to shake Marinette's hand: And Adrien has told us so much about you!
Damian stepping in: Jon leave the poor girl alone. Hello I'm Damian Wayne it's a pleasure to meet you
Damian grabbed Marinette's hand and place a kiss on her knuckles
Marinette could fell heat rush to her cheeks
Marinette could hear Rose squeal about how romantic the gesture was
Alya: So are y'all going to be participating in the big race
Nino: Jon and Damian are I'm actually going to be the DJ of the event
Alya: Oh really? Can I interview for my blog? I'm doing a big piece about the event
Nino: Sure dudette! How about you come with me while I set up, you can ask all the questions you want and still be able to watch the race
Alya: Sounds great! I'll see y'all later!
Adrien: So are any of you going to be participating in the race?
Marinette: Alix is, she's on the practice track right now
Jon: Oh really should we be worried
Rose: Well she is a Fairy of the Wind so I'd say yes
Julika: Speed is literally part of her powers
Rose spotting some flowers: Oh look at this flowers! Let's go check it out Julika!
Rose grabbed Julika's arm and dragged her away
Marinette laughing: Rose in a nature fairy so she is very into plants
Adrien: I hope she doesn't get too distracted Alix would hate if they missed the race
Marinette: Julika wouldn't let her miss it! We all know how much this means to Alix
Damian with a faux look of hurt on his face: Oh does that mean you won't be cheering for us
Jason popping up beside Damian: and why would she cheer for you Demon Spawn when she could be cheering me on
Damian: Oh no
Marinette giggling: Demon Spawn?
Damain: That is my idiot brothers' awful attempt at as a joke
Dick popping up on the other side of Damian: Aww that hurts Baby Bird
Damian: Will you stop with the nicknames
Tim popping up behind Marinette and putting his hands on her shoulders: Yeah guys your embarrassing him in front of this lovely lady.
Damian: Don't you have a wall to crash into or something
Jason: Well that's not very nice. How about you introduce us to your lovely lady friend
Damian just glared at his intruding brothers
Adrien stepping in: Actually this is Marinette, she's the fairy that's been teaching me magic
Adrien: Marinette, these are the Wayne boys they're all adopted by are hand to hand combat teacher, Bruce Wayne, well all except Damian. He's Bruce's birth son. That's Dick Grayson he's the oldest and right now he's a student teacher at Red Fountain. Jason Todd and Tim Drake, they're both juniors.
Jason: The best Juniors!
A horn was blown over the speaker system
Jon: That's the signal for the racers to get ready we better go
Jason grabbing Damian in a headlock: Come on Demon Spawn let's go
Damian: Release me Todd!!!
Jon blushing: I guess I better be going
Adrien also blushing: I'll be rooting for you Jon
As the boys walked away Marinette looked and Adrien with a smug smile on her face
Marinette: So does the little sorcerer in training have a crush on a hero?
Adrien: Oh shut up! Don't think I didn't see you blushing at Damian back there
The race was one of the most exciting things Marinette had ever seen
Alix won the race which she promptly rubbed into the Wayne boys' faces
They took it in good stride and demanded a rematch
After the race there was a dance
Damain and Marinette spent the whole dance together, dancing and talking about anything and everything
As the school year went on the girls got closer to the Red Fountain boys
Soon they were spending every weekend in Gotham hanging out together as one big group
Marinette never missed and opportunity to tease Adrien about Jon
And Adrien made sure to return the favor by teasing Marinette about Damian
It was nearing the end of the school year and that meant finals were coming up
The Red Fountain boys had to do an obstacle course with different teams depending on which grade the boys were in
The girls were able to watch the boys finales and they all did very well
Damian was determined to impress Marinette with his skills
He wanted to make a lasting impression on her and maybe ask her out when he and the rest of their friends go to Earth to visit
Sadly Alfea did not allow the boys to watch their friends' finals
For the girls they had to enter a virtual reality chamber and bring and a "dead" planet back to life
The planet was chosen randomly by the chamber itself
Marinette was the last one to go and much to Faragonda's surprise planet chosen for Marinette was Miracul
Miracul was never chosen by the chamber before
Marinette didn't know what to think of the planet that was chosen for her
It was cold and dark frozen waste land
Marinette started by spreading seeds around that only needed magic to grow
With the plants growing Marinette started to try and warm the planet by parting the clouds and letting sunshine in
It was a lot of work, but Marinette was able to do it
She was almost complete when she started to hear a voice calling her name
The Voice: Marinette, Marinette. Come to me Marinette!
Marinette followed the strange voice as it beckoned her into a cave
The Voice: Marinette come fulfill your duty. Protect the Miraculous
Marinette: What's a Miraculous?
The Voice: Come Marinette
As Marinette drew closer to the voice she found was a black ring with a green paw on it.
The Voice: Take this and keep it safe. Don't let anybody know you have this.
Marinette couldn't explain it but she followed the voice's comands
She hid the ring in her pocket and complete her exam
Which she passed with flying colors
As Marinette said goodbye to her friends the ring still sat in her pocket safe from any prying eyes
As Marinette stepped through the portal back to Earth she couldn't help but feel like something big was about to begin
In a dark cave somewhere in the Magix universe the spirits of the Dark Ones gathered
Dark One: Do you feel that?
Dark One: It's a Miraculous!
Dark One: the Miraculous were lost along with Miracul!
Dark One: They must have only been hidden!
Dark Ones: Only somebody from Miracul's royal line could bring a Miraculous out of hiding!
Dark One: We must find this person and get them to bring us all the Miraculous!
Dark One: And we'll do that with some help from our coven
As the Dark One said that a light is shined silhouetting the still alive members of the Dark Ones coven
Lila: Dont worry ancient ones we'll get the Miraculous and destroy whoever the remaining member of the Miracul royal line is!

The Ranch {8}
An A Court of Thorns and Roses, Nesta x Cassian, Modern AU, fanfiction.
Collaboration: @throne-of-ashes-and-beauty x @tacmc
Summary: Nesta had spent years in Paris, living her dream and drowning in riches as a gourmet chef, capturing the hearts of the city and its people. But, after her father passes away unexpectedly and leaves his cozy, countryside B&B to his oldest daughter, Nesta is moving back home to the tiny town of Velaris, where the ranch, her sisters, and her father’s unfulfilled dream, awaits.
Sidenote: Being posted between two blogs, it is too chaotic to keep up with a tags list, so all chapters will be tagged with “#TheRanchNessian” & “#SharaCollab”.
A/N: We love that you guys have been loving this so much! Please continue to let us know what you’re thinking. We loved writing this fic, and your love means the world to us.
The Ranch Masterlist
Tumblr media
Cassian didn’t see or hear from Nesta for the rest of the day. He saw her in the main house around dinner time, but decided he would let her cook in peace. He didn’t know what kind of demons had reared their ugly heads at her today, but whatever had happened between Nesta and Tomas Motherfucking Mandray had screwed with her so badly that he barely recognized the woman he found in the paint department today.
He remembered Nesta from high school, had known that she had dated Tomas then. But, he didn’t know much. At least, not about Nesta. As for Tomas, however, he and Cassian went way back, and none of their interactions had ever been pleasant. Tomas had always been a self-absorbed little bitch. He hated Tomas.
And he had hated him even more when he walked into the paint aisle and saw how fucking terrified Nesta had been.
Yet, he wasn’t going to push her to talk about it. She would come to him when she was ready. Maybe. Hopefully. Either way, Cassian had convinced himself that it was none of his business.
Even if he really, really wanted it to be his business.
As night approached, Cassian made sure all the horses were ready for bed, and all the cattle were where they were meant to be. He whistled for Beau to follow him into the cabin and, the good pup he was, Beau obeyed. Once inside, he slumped into the recliner and checked his phone.
There was a text from Rhys that read, Being engaged is fucking awesome. It ended with three flame emojis. Cassian found the text as a whole repulsive and unnecessary.
There was a text from Azriel, too, that read, Drinks on Friday? Elain is working all night.
Cassian dismissed it, making a mental note to reply in the morning.
Then, he had one last text.
From Nesta.
Thanks for today. Sorry I spaced out.
He read the text once, twice, three times before finding the nerve to reply. Anytime, he wrote. He wanted to write something else, anything else, wanted to add a fucking speech at the end of the one-worded text, but he decided against it.
He pressed send.
It wasn’t two minutes later that he got a reply. You should be sleeping. You’ll have to wake up early to get on the stables, won’t you?
Cassian chuckled to himself. Maybe. But you have to be up early to do your makeup before you finish the landscaping, he replied.
Her reply wasn’t as quick this time, the dancing dots disappearing every so often. But when his phone finally vibrated while he was brushing his teeth, he laughed out loud.
Don’t act like it takes me more time to do my hair than it takes you to do yours. Don’t think I haven’t noticed those man buns are a little TOO perfect sometimes.
He replied with no hesitation. Glad to know you’re looking at my man buns.
He swore that he could feel her eyes roll from across the property. Goodnight, Sexy Ranch Hand.
Goodnight, beautiful.
He sent the text, hoping it would bring her a little bit of joy, a little bit of comfort, but then, when she didn’t reply, he grew nervous.
He felt he was walking a fine line with Nesta, ever since she scolded him for being his boss.
His hesitation didn’t last too long, though, because his phone vibrated the minute he climbed into his bed. The text was short, but it gave him comfort.
A smiley face emoji greeted him as Beau climbed up on the bed beside him.
He slept good that night, smiling stupidly to himself as he snuggled up next to Beau. And when morning came, he felt completely refreshed.
He was up and getting dressed with a cup of coffee at four, and as sunrise approached, Cassian grabbed a bag by the door and he and Beau were walking out into the cool, muggy summer morning. It wouldn’t be long until the sun was beating down, drenching him in sweat.
Instead of heading toward the stables, Cassian went across the grass and the gravel driveway, and up the steps of the tiny, modern house that sat there.
He pounded on the door and Beau stayed in the yard, chasing his tail.
No answer.
He pounded his fist on the wood once more.
Nothing.
With a sigh, Cassian kept knocking, and didn’t stop. He pounded repeatedly on the door for at least thirty seconds when the door was thrown open, and Nesta stood there, looking like she wanted to set him on fire.
“What the hell?” She asked, voice raspy, hair a mess, body wrapped in a crocheted blanket.
“Rise and shine,” Cassian grinned. “Go on. Get dressed.”
Her eyes narrowed as she flipped on the porch light. Cassian lit up as she groaned from the brightness of it.
“You wanted to learn how things are done around here,” Cassian laughed. “Well, I start at sunrise, ever day.”
Nesta rubbed her eyes and snorted. “Unless you’re hungover.”
Cassian grinned. “Fair enough. Alright, go on, get dressed, I’ll wait.”
Nesta sighed but didn’t protest as she took a step back.
“Oh,” Cassian said, before she could close the door on him. “Here.”
He held out the bag.
She blinked. “What is that?”
“I kept telling you,” he said, shaking the bag until she took it. “You own a ranch. You need a pair of boots.”
“You...bought me boots?”
Cassian shrugged as she took the bag and shoved his hands into his pockets. “With your sisters’ help. Consider it your welcome home gift.”
Nesta was speechless as she slowly went back into her little house.
She didn’t bother closing the door, so Cassian stepped inside as she went back into her bedroom.
He looked around, although there wasn’t much inside. He noticed Elain’s old furniture, that he had helped move in upon Nesta’s arrival.
“Hopefully they fit,” Cassian said as he went to the little fridge in the kitchen and looked at the pictures that covered it. “I may have snuck a glance at your sneakers the other day when you weren’t looking to check for size.”
Nesta’s quiet laughter flooded through the hall. “Creep.”
Cassian grinned to himself as he studied a picture of the girls when they were young, smiling with their mother. Cassian had never met her. She died years before Isaac had hired him.
Nesta came out a minute later, and even in the dim lamplight, Cassian was breathless.
Her hair was pulled back in a high point tail. She wore jeans, a tank top, and an old flannel shirt, which remained open.
And her boots, which fit nicely.
“Okay, stop staring,” Nesta muttered. “I realize you’ve never seen me in boots and it’s shocking.”
Cassian cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his neck as he nodded. “They look nice.”
Nesta rolled her eyes and her boots thumped toward the front door. “Yeah, yeah. Alright, let’s do this.”
Cassian allowed himself to watch her walk out the door and down the steps before he followed her out.
————
“Harder.”
Cassian grunted.
“Harder.”
He groaned, but did as he was told.
“Harder!”
Cassian was out of breath, but he said, “This is as hard as it gets, I don’t know what else you want from me.”
Nesta gritted her teeth, but still managed to roll her eyes. “I want you to try harder.”
He grunted and said, “Okay, okay, put it down. Stop pushing.”
They both moved away from the enormous roll of hay they’d been trying to roll through the south pasture. It had rained overnight, nearly doubling the weight of the hay and Cassian had suspected he needed a little more muscle than what Nesta had to offer.
“I’ll have to call Rhys,” Cassian said, lifting the hem of his shirt to wipe his brow. Nesta was folded at the waist, her hands braced on her knees.
“No, we can-.” She stopped to breathe. “We can do it. We got this”
He chuckled, “Nes, that hay weighs over 5 times your weight. We absolutely do not got this.”
Her lips tightened as she sized up the roll of hay. “We-.”
“Nesta,” Cassian breathed, laughing quietly. “It’s not a big deal. Your ability to move a roll of hay doesn’t dictate your ability to run a ranch. Well, own it, I run it.”
Nesta couldn’t help the smile that tugged on the corner of her mouth. “You’re incredibly annoying.”
“I know,” he grinned, wiping his face with the hem of his shirt, once more. Nesta’s eyes lingered a little bit too long on his abdomen, just above the waistband of his jeans, which were hanging loosely on his hips. He didn’t seem to notice as he pulled his phone out of his pocket and sent a text to Rhys. “Rhys will be over soon, I’m sure, he has the day off. Unless your sister kept him up all night.”
Nesta scrunched her nose. “No need to reference my sister’s sex life.”
Cassian’s grin widened as he put his phone back into his pocket. “You wanna go for a ride?”
Nesta stilled, and her hesitation made him howl.
“I meant on a horse, Nesta,” he said, unable to control his laughter. “Calm down.”
“Asshole,” she mumbled. Her cheeks were red, both from the sun they’d been in all day and the blush now tipping her ears as well. She wrinkled her nose and shook her head. “I don’t have a horse. I’m okay.”
Cassian had an eyebrow raised. “You actually have eight.”
“I have-.” Nesta paused. “Oh. You’re right.”
 But not Phoenix.
“Hey.” Cassian’s voice was soft and she looked up, not expecting him to be so close. His hazel eyes were the color of the forest floor. As if he could read her thoughts, he said, “You’ll never be able to replace him, Nes. You’ll never get back that bond with him. But that doesn’t mean you can’t build another bond with another horse.”
He was right, of course, but she hadn’t been on a horse in nearly a decade. The thought alone terrified her. Yes, she was beginning not to mind being back in Velaris, had even started enjoying herself while working on the B&B, but to ride again? She wasn’t sure if she was ready for such a huge step.
And it was.
A massive step.
Yet, Cassian’s eyes were so full of hope, and the way they watched her, so softly, Nesta couldn’t say no.
Didn’t want to say no.
“Okay,”  she breathed. “Fine.”
Cassian slowly shook his head. “I need to hear you say it with a little more enthusiasm.”
Nesta pursed her lips and shoved him in the shoulder, which only made his cocky ass grin return.
“Come on,” she said, heading in the direction of the dilapidated stalls the horses stayed in. She walked about twenty feet before she realized he wasn’t walking with her. “What?”
Cassian chuckled. “You really were tired this morning, weren’t you?”
Nesta blinked. “You banged on my door at, like, three in the morning. Of course I was tired.”
“Okay, first of all, it was four thirty,” he said, laughing. “Second, follow me.”
Nesta wasn’t sure exactly how she’d missed it. He was right, she must have been half asleep to miss the framework nestled back into the trees between their two houses.
But this was not the basic stable and tack room she’d described to him.
No, this building was going to be massive.
“There are going to be sixteen stalls,” Cassian said, sticking his hands in his pockets. “The tack room is going to be on that side,” he indicated to the right. “And the lodge, will be to the left.”
“The lodge?” Nesta asked, turning to look at him. “Figured it might be nice to have a little getaway out here. If you don’t like it, I can scrap it from the plans, make this a second tack room or storage area.”
But Nesta wasn’t listening, she’d turned back to the massive framework of beams in front of her.
She breathed, “Cassian, it’s perfect.”
He scratched at the back of his neck. “It’s going to take me a while to finish-.”
“Tell me what you need and it’s yours.” There was no hesitation to her words. “We can even hire someone to help, if you want.”
Cassian chuckled, softly. “That’s okay. I got it. If I need help, I’ll ask Rhys and Az. They’ll be more than happy to help when they can.”
“I can’t believe you…” Nesta shook her head, and looked at him. “Put so much thought into it.”
He shrugged. “You asked for updated stables. I just did what I’m told.”
“You really do love this place, don’t you?” Nesta asked quietly.
“Yeah,” Cassian said, meeting her gaze. “I had a bad reputation, from a lot of stupid shit I did when I was younger. Your dad really took a chance on hiring me, but I’m grateful every day that he did. He gave me a sense of purpose, when I thought I didn’t have one.”
Nesta nodded, slowly, and did not back down from his gaze as she said, “I’m grateful, too. That you’re here. I’d be completely lost without you.”
Cassian’s eyes softened, and she thought he was going to say something sweet, but then he said, “Yeah...all the other ranchers in this town aren’t as sexy as me, so, you really did luck out.”
“Oh, cauldron boil me,” Nesta groaned and Cassian put his arm around her shoulder and steered her towards the house, towards the shed where the saddles and other tack was kept.
“Ahhh, I didn’t want it to get too sappy.” He said, grinning down at her. “But now, we’re gonna see if you’re really worth your salt on this ranch.” He stopped in front of the shed and unlocked the padlock.
“And what exactly does that mean?” Nesta asked, not so subtly watching the way his back muscles moved under the blue t-shirt he wore.
He turned and Nesta cleared her throat and looked at him. He had a lead rope in his hand.
“Time to go catch you a horse, Nesta Archeron.”
——————
As the sun was setting, Nesta and Cassian walked back from the pasture, laughing.
“I had no idea that you were the one that released the dissection frogs!” Nesta said, locking the gate behind them. “Was it in protest of animal cruelty or something?”
Cassian thought for a second. “No, but if I had gotten caught, that probably would have been a better excuse than the one I would have gone with.”
Nesta chuckled. “Which was?”
He smirked and said, “Because I got bored.”
Nesta froze and watched him walk the rest of the way to the shed. “You let over four hundred frogs loose because you were bored?”
He put the ropes back in their place and locked the shed up. “Yup.” The grin on his face told her he, indeed, was proud of himself. And she was grinning, too.
Before she could stop herself, she asked, “Do you want to come have dinner with me?”
Cassian’s eyebrows raised. “Tonight?”
“Tonight, tomorrow night, whenever.” She shrugged, trying to play it off as a casual offer, and not that asking had filled her stomach with butterflies as strongly as it had when she had her first kiss. “We can meet for dinner in the main house every night. There’s no need for us to both cook.”
His smile returned, but it was softer. “I’d like that.”
They headed back around the front of the house, Cassian rattling off his favorite foods, most of which consisted of red meat and starches. When they came around the corner, Nesta froze.
Cassian’s words trailed off as he stopped beside her. A little black truck had pulled up, old and rusty. But the girl that came out of that little, rusty truck was stunning.
Nesta looked over at Cassian, to see if he recognized the young woman.
And, oh, he definitely did.
“Emerie,” he said, uncomfortably, clearing his throat. “What are you doing here?”
“Thought I’d come by to say hello,” she crooned, grin wide. Then, she seemed to notice Nesta for the first time. “Oh. Who are you?”
Nesta blinked, then realized she was being spoken to. “I own this property.”
“Oh,” she breathed, eyes growing wide with recognition. “Your Isaac’s oldest? Wow.” She looked Nesta up and down, and the gesture had Nesta seeing red. “Well, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Emerie.”
“I’ve heard,” Nesta muttered.
Cassian was fiddling with the hem of his shirt when he said, “You know, we’re a little busy, Em, why don’t you come back later?”
“Later works,” she said, sliding her hands in her back pockets. “I was going to see if you wanted to have dinner, too, but it seems like you’re...taken care of.”
Cassian cleared his throat and said, “Nesta and I were just-.”
“Just finishing up for the day,” Nesta interrupted. She turned to Cassian and the warm, playful nature he’d seen emerging earlier had gone cold. “Thanks for showing me the ropes. I really appreciate it.” She began up the porch steps and Cassian reached for her hand. He gently gripped her fingers.
“Nesta, wait, let me explain. It’s-,” he dragged his hand down his face, the callouses catching on his stubble. “It’s not what it looks like.”
“I fell for that once before,” she whispered, her fingers tightening in his. “I won’t fall for it again.”
A look of confusion crossed Cassian's face, but his hand dropped. Emerie had gotten the hint, had gotten back up into her truck and was backing out.
“Are you jealous?” He asked, and it was almost anger that replaced the spark in his hazel eyes. “Are you fucking kidding me?”
“I’m not jealous,” Nesta snapped. “But it’s really inappropriate-“
“If you say that word one more time, Nesta, I swear on the fucking cauldron-.” Cassian’s words faded away and he raked his fingers through his long, tangled hair. “Must I remind you that you didn’t want me?”
There it was.
The words hung between them as complete silence consumed them, Emerie’s old truck driving away the only thing to be heard.
Nesta stared down at him, hurt written plainly across her face.
Hurt.
He had expected her to be jealous of Emerie, but he didn’t expect to see pain roiling in the depths of her eyes.
“Nesta, I-.”
She cut him off. “Did you lie to me?”
He blinked up at her, the sunset making her hair glow. “What?”
“That night, I asked you point blank if you had a girlfriend,” Nesta said, voice wavering. “You said no.”
“No,” Cassian said, eyes growing hard. “I have never lied to you, Nesta, I’m not a fucking liar. Emerie’s just a friend. She comes by every now and then. I haven’t seen her in months. She only comes by when she wants something.”
“Sex?” Nesta asked, before she could stop the word from tumbling out of her mouth.
Cassian shook his head, ignoring the short question altogether. “It doesn’t fucking matter. But, I’ve never lied to you. And, if you think I would lie to you….fuck.”
She could see the anger brewing inside of him, could see the frustration, but Nesta didn’t care, because she was pissed. And yet, she had no reason to be. He was right. She had turned him down. She had no right to care.
She was hurt, though.
And that hurt grew when she saw the hurt, saw the anguish, in his own eyes.
“I didn’t lie,” he repeated, looking away from her, out toward the pastures. “I’m a lot of things, Nesta, but I’m not a liar.”
She knew he wasn’t, knew it in every fiber of her being.
She hadn’t even been back in Velaris for a month, had just started to open up to the complicated man in front of her. Day and night, he always found a way to creep into her thoughts, into her dreams. But she couldn’t afford to be vulnerable, couldn’t afford to get tangled up with the man she couldn’t get off of her mind, no matter what she may want.
Not when her father's dream was on the line.
So Nesta closed her eyes, trying to hide the tears that has silently started slipping down her cheeks.
She turned her back to him, and hurried up the stairs of the main house.
Cassian was calling her name, but she forced herself to keep walking, to open the door, enter the house, shut herself inside.
She leaned against the slab of wood, stayed their as her eyes filled with tears, even as Cassian knocked on the other side.
“Nesta,” he said, voice calm, quiet, broken. “Hey, open up, come on.” He knocked again.
Nesta didn’t move.
She stayed there, leaning against the door, listening to him knock, listening to him beg.
But no matter what he said, Nesta didn’t open the door.

@tsuki-chibi / SailorChibi(AO3)
Ok, so after several months of radio silence, it was time for me to come back to work and post one of my “fic of the month”, but since I literally read everything Miraculous Ladybug written by Sailor/TsukiChibi, I decided to make an author special. This is my first one; the template may change with time.
As I’m writing this, Chibi has 76 works on her AO3 for the Miraculous Ladybug fandom. She has also many fics related to the MCU, Sherlock TV series and Supernatural. Kudos for so much inspiration!
Warning: Long post ahead!
Her fics are ALL worth reading, but here are some of my favorites:
Duststorm: Words:2960 - Chapters:1/1 Summary: Sandboy shows Ladybug one of her worst nightmares. It affects Ladybug far more than she would've expected, and Chat Noir is doing no better.
What I liked: The emotional comfort, The way Ladybug’s resolution to keep their identities secret is just thrown through the window
Black and White and Red All Over: Words:5222 - Chapters:1/1 Summary: Ladybug didn't know that Chat Noir had a sibling. She finds out in the worst way possible.
What I liked: Chat Noir not being Chat Blanc, Adrien having a sibling, Bridgette’s cameo, an akuma with enough control to team up with Ladybug
Shared Characteristics: Words:2895 - Chapters:1/1 Summary :Out of all the things Nino and Alya could've inherited from their kwamis, it would be a heat.
What I liked: DJWifi and the fun factor, really. Imagining them in heat and how they deal with it is just hilarious.
Miraculous Online:  Words:2619 - Chapters:1/1 Summary: What do you do when you're freed after having been trapped inside of an online game for over two years? Adrien finds his partner.
What I liked: It made me watch Sword Art Online and, re-reading it after, I could even more appreciate the fic!
Tripped at Fencing:  Words:5326 - Chapters:1/1 Summary: Of the all the ways for Ladybug to figure out his identity, Adrien never thought it would be because his father had slapped him.
What I liked: The hurt to comfort and Gabriel A+ parenting. Seriously, this is a sweet fic where you just want to give Adrien a hug or adopt him.
Kitten-ing Around: Words:959 - Chapters:1/1 Summary: Chat had a bad habit of making too many puns. Ladybug had a bad habit of pushing him off rooftops. Technically, that meant they were both to blame.
What I liked: the easy reveal. There’s no drama, no fight, just kids kitten-ing around and messing up their secret identities.
Miraculous Hive (series):  Works:5 - Complete: No Summary:  Following Chameleon, Chloe figures out who Ladybug and Chat Noir. Her bee instincts then set off a chain of events that change everything.
What I liked: Chloe POV (I haven’t read a lot of fics written from another POV outside of Adrien’s and Marinette’s) and Chloe’s redemption. I’m pro Chloe’s redemption. She’s just a kid who does what she does because of the way she has been brought to see the world (contrarily to Lila who’s genuinely bad imo)
And I’d give up Forever: Words:26829 - Chapters:13/13 Summary: Marinette and Adrien were hiding out in a motel room. Paris knew they were Ladybug and Chat Noir and hated them, and they in turn knew that Gabriel was Hawkmoth. This is one situation that they can't fix alone.
What I liked: I actually dreaded to read this one. I was trying to avoid angsty fics, but the summary about “Paris hating them” made me think they hated them for, idk, being bad at what they do. I was relieved when I understood this was caused by an akuma. The hurt to comfort, the fight against Hakwmoth and how Marinette and Adrien end up so attached to each other made me love this fic.
The Butterfly Effect:  Words:22632 - Chapters:8/8 Summary: When Hawkmoth wins and wishes for a new timeline where Emilie Agreste is alive, Marinette and Adrien are the only other ones who remember everything about the old timeline. But Ladybug and Chat Noir don't know each other's identities, and coming together to beat Hawkmoth once and for all may not be as easy as it seems.
What I liked: Adrien seeing his mother again (and finally having the chance to say properly goodbye to her), Marinette’s proof of love for Adrien by giving him the chance to keep his mother, and when Marinette and Adrien find each other. Reading Adrien snapping at his overworked life was nice too :) He needs vacations...
Guess Who:  Words:13142 - Chapters:31/31 Summary: Marinette thought a Halloween party with her friends would be fun. That was before someone died. In this choose your own ending story, can you help Marinette make it to the end alive? Reader beware... you’re in for a scare!
What I liked: Where do I actually start?! This fic is a crack and is so fun to read. It’s in the format “Choose Your Own Adventure”. I read it on my phone, set on “Chapter by Chapter” and the links from a chapter to another makes it like a RPG. I was reading it during my breaks at work and just couldn’t stop thinking about it, about who was guilty. I actually guessed right and couldn’t stop laughing.
Fruitful (series):  Works:3 - Complete: Yes Summary:  Adrien and Marinette are telepathic soulmates. That’s not always a good thing, but neither of them would give up their deep bond for anything.
What I liked: I love soulmate AUs, Marinette being there for Adrien when he’s alone, how losing the other affects them, Chloe playing the game for their sake
By my Side (When the Rain Comes Pouring in): Words:81938 - Chapters:28/28 Summary: Two years after Marinette got her miraculous, she meets Adrien Agreste for the first time. In spite of an initial gum-related bump in the road, they become fast friends thanks to their shared interest in fashion and design. But there's something funny about Adrien. He seems to suffer from terminal clumsiness just like Marinette, frequently sporting sprained wrists and ankles, new bruises, and other injuries. Injuries which look suspiciously similar to the ones that Ladybug's beloved partner has...
What I liked: Adrien’s heartbreaking situation at home, Hawkmoth’s reveal, Marinette and Plagg’s complicity

4. Patrol
“Our dates will be in broad daylight?”
“Yep,” Ladybug replied, popping the P. “Under the disguise of patrols.”
“So we are continuing ‘patrols’,” Chat indicated with air quotes. “I don’t think it’s very wise, my lady. Doesn’t it feel like we are hiding something from them?”
“So, you’re saying Parisians will be fine with us just going out and about on dates—”
“Yes.”
“—as long as we ‘update’ them about our relationship status.”
“Yes.”
“But we’re in the ‘dating phase’ and not ‘officially together’,” she indicated with air quotes too. “Also, you don’t want to date in the open, so there is no way we can ‘update’ and let them know we’re trying to be an official couple.” She sagged further down.
They were currently lounging on a random rooftop. Despite her best efforts at proposing counteroffers, she just fell short sometimes.
“I’m sorry.”
“Chaton, if you say sorry one more time, I’ll make sure I don’t turn up for our dates, then you’ll really be sorry.”
Chat widened his eyes in fear. No, anything but that, please! “No, no, please! I’m sor— I mean, please don’t.”
Ladybug sometimes also fell short at lifting the atmosphere around them.
“I’m just kidding, Minou.” She affirmed as she realised she might have taken it too far. “I plan on sticking with you for aeons.”
She slowly moved towards him and reached for his hands. “You know that, right?”
He pulled her into an embrace, her whole body lying on top of his. Ladybug rested her head on his shoulders and ran her hands through his hair, scratching behind his ears to reassure him.
“But,” she tried again. “Don’t you think Parisians will appreciate it even more if we appear as always? It’s like we aren’t forgetting about them, you know?”
Perhaps this wasn’t her brightest idea as of late, but she was still pretty insistent on it. She can’t help but feel that the pseudo reason would benefit them in the future.
“I guess,” he replied after a few beats.
“So can we?” Her body oozed excitement as she pulled back. “We’ll go on dates, but if anyone else asks, we’ll just tell them it’s a patrol!”
“As long as we take action when something happens.”
She became all giddy when Chat finally agreed.
“So, what do you have in mind for our ‘patrol’ today?”
Ladybug scanned their surroundings before her eyes landed on where she wanted to go. She grabbed his hand, pointed at the location and beamed at him. “Let's go to the fair over there!”
“Sure,” he smiled contently and agreed without even paying attention to where the fair was. “You’re so cute when you’re excited.”
“Am I now?” Smugness overtook her features.
He blushed, “You’re cute whenever, just especially so when you’re elated.”
“You know what’ll make me even more elated?” She leaned in.
“W-what?” Chat could feel the rhythms in his chest. She’s getting closer, so close that he could feel her warmth coming from her face. He swallowed, eyes flickering from her eyes to her lips, and then back again. Those eyes and lips were calling out to him, and he very much wanted to give in. If he could just move towards her a slight bit, her alluring pink lips would touch his.
Her face was millimetres from his, before she paused and booped his nose. “If you smiled more.”
He froze as she withdrew from him, took hold of his hand and pulled him up. “Come on! Let’s go before the cotton candy sells out!”
And she took off leaving Chat in a daze at her words. He shook out of his trance and followed her before he lost sight of where she went.
.
After they got their cotton candy, they stayed away from the centre of the fair, strolling at the borders.
“Do you know why I really wanted the cotton candy?”
“Because it’s a must-have when you visit a fair?”
“Well, you’re not wrong, but I get to do this too!” Ladybug tore a portion of her cotton candy and hovered it over Chat’s chin.
“Now you have a pink beard!” She giggled. “I’ve got to say, it does look good on you.”
“Oh? And why’s that?”
“It’s my favourite colour,” she reddened.
She felt his hands nearing her face and she looked down to see his blue cotton candy over her chin.
“What a coincidence, blue beard suits you too,” he smiled teasingly.
5. Milk
“Let’s sit here!”
They were at Jardin des Plantes and Ladybug had found a good spot that had adequate shade from the afternoon sun.
“You sure? There are plenty of flowers falling, won’t they get into our food?” Chat asked despite preparing to unroll the pink picnic mat.
“It’s fine! Besides, it’s romantic isn’t it?”
Chat chuckled and laid down the picnic mat on the grass before Ladybug put their picnic baskets on it.
As they sat down, Ladybug opened her basket and began taking out plates and wipes before taking out the sandwiches, cakes, and biscuits she had prepared earlier that day.
Chat was about to take out what he had brought when a cherry blossom flower landed on the back of his hand. Not the petals, but a full cherry blossom flower.
He seized it before it fell and placed it on Ladybug’s ear when she set down the containers before him.
She vaguely saw the light pink flower by the side of her eyes and narrowed her eyes at him. “Did you just pick this flower up from the ground and put it in my hair?”
Chat brought his hand to his chest in mock offence. “No, of course not! It landed on my hand.”
She raised an eyebrow.
“What?”
“I want to see it happen again.”
“My lady, I'm literally bad luck! What just happened won’t happen again for another million years!”
“Well, then it’s really good luck for it to land on your hand, isn’t it?"
He puffed out his chest and nodded.
Ladybug then lifted her gaze to see if she could get any flowers. Chat took out his baton and aimed his camera towards her.
“Buguinette.”
By this time she already had a flower in her hands and she focused her attention on him.
*snap*
“Hey!”
“Come on my lady, you look beautiful!” He showed his screen to her.
“Well, I'm glad we’re on the same page then.” Her arms reached for him and snaked around his neck to bring him in closer. Then, she placed the flower in his hair.
“Let’s take a selfie,” she pushed his hand that was holding the baton up into the air and changed the camera setting.
*snap*
“Now we both look beautiful now, don't we?” She said cheekily as they viewed the image. They seemed inseparable, Ladybug had both her hands around Chat’s neck and Chat had his arm resting on her shoulder. Bright smiles on their faces, Ladybug was leaning her head on Chat’s, their flowers visible by the side of their faces. They both really love how the picture turned out.
“Remember to send it to me,” and they proceeded to take the rest of the items from their baskets.
When she heard the sound of glasses clinking, she thought Chat had brought wine, which was why she eyed him incredulously when she saw a carton of milk on the picnic mat.
“Are you serious? Who brings milk to picnics?”
“Why not? To each their own!” He defended.
She frowned. “Because!”
He grinned when she gave up. “My lady, did you know I tried to get drunk on milk once?”
“What?”
Chat snickered when he saw the corners of her mouth twitched.
“Well, I don’t mean literally. But it happened enough times for the bartender to pretend that I was there to get drunk like everyone else was, even though the only thing I’ve ever ordered was milk.” He winked.
“You must really love milk, huh?”
“Can’t fault me for that,” he smirked. “I am a cat after all.”
“I wasn’t, but,” she held out a packet of milk biscuits to him. “What were the chances of us bringing something milk-related?”
He glowed.
6. Clown
Notre Dame is good for many things.
It’s good for France’s economy. The historical sites all around Paris are what attracts tourists from all around the world. Although not the sole reason, Notre Dame certainly contributes to the number of tourists who visit Paris.
Climbing to the top of the towers of Notre Dame offers a magnificent view of Paris. It is taller than all other buildings within its vicinity and on a good and sunny day, the Eiffel Tower can be seen clearly. Truly a sight to behold for anyone who wants the full experience as a visitor of Paris.
One downside to that is that wait lines to get to the top of the towers can take 2 to 3 hours. But not for the superhero duo, who can avoid the waiting time just by climbing up the Cathedral with the superpowers they were gifted.
Which was why they were currently at the top of the North Tower.
Notre Dame was also a great place for makeup sessions. There was nothing to block the sun from shining down on them, which gave excellent lighting for Ladybug to do her magic on Chat’s face.
“I was not expecting this for a Saturday date,” he grinned at her as she applied moisturiser on his face.
“Well, I’ve got to steer away from the norm sometimes.”
Once she was done, Ladybug picked up her makeup pouch from her side. “Is there any makeup you want me to do? Winged eyes, Smoky eyes, Visual-kei?”
“Make me a clown,” he said without missing a beat.
“Sorry, what?”
“You heard what I said. Make me a clown.”
“Wait, you’re serious?” Disbelief painted her face. “But doesn’t that defeat the purpose of makeup?”
“Excuse you, I don't need makeup to beautify me further, I'm pretty handsome myself. Now, make me ugly.”
“But—”
“Oh you can’t do it, can you?” He quipped.
Fire lit in her eyes. “And what do you know about makeup?”
“Why my lady, I happen to be very good at makeup myself,” he smirked.
“Oh, so we’re turning this into a challenge now?”
“Only if you want it to be,” he replied with a teasing smile.
“Alright. It’ll be one. And since I've already started on your face, I’ll continue. I’ll do the clown makeup you so desire.” She emphasised it by shaking her pouch. “Then we’ll switch. But you can’t look at your own face until you’re done with mine.” She took out a mirror from her pouch. “And we’ll look at ourselves in the mirror at the same time, and whoever laughs will be the winner.”
“Aw man, I can't do the scary clown makeup from IT on your face,” he pouted.
“Course not.”
“Works fine for me.” And he proceeded to close his eyes.
Despite Ladybug’s display of confidence earlier, she's panicking right now. She didn’t know how to work on clown makeup, she doesn't even know what they look like just because she normally avoids them. Her only impression of them was that the faces were white. She's totally clueless as to how the eyes and mouth should appear to be. She really wanted to win, but with her current skill sets, probably not. She’d consider it a win if he so much as to release a small ‘pfft’ from his lips.
“I’m waiting, Buguinette.”
“Have you actually done this before?”
“Of course.” Dammit.
The only thing she could do now was to wing it, and she settled on applying white all over his face, before doing half of his face with her colours and the other half with his own.
She visibly cringed as she took a step back and saw her creation as a whole.
Chat grinned and walked up to her to push her down back to where he was sitting before.
And he began his magic, applying moisturiser before the white all over her face as well. But that’s where the similarities ended. He applied something on her lips first. Then, he drew something on both of her eyes before going to her mouth again. And he repeated this process at least three times before he finished.
Once he was done, Ladybug could hear her own heartbeat in her ears and she took out a mirror from her pouch. They sat side by side and Ladybug faced her mirror downwards.
“Three,” she started.
“Two,” he took over and grinned.
And together. “One!”
She flipped her mirror up and it didn’t even take a second before the both of them tumbled onto the floor, trying to save the mirror. Their laughter filled the air. It was so loud that tourists from the South Tower had to stop and search where the sound was coming from.
Chat was clutching his stomach, howling at the sheer ridiculousness of the makeup she had applied on his face. “Y-you don’t know h-how a c-cl-clown looks like!” And he bellowed further.
Ladybug was still trying to make sure the mirror didn’t fall from her grip, cackling at how she was so off the mark for the makeup she’s done on his face. “S-shut up!”
7. Height Difference
Checking out Marché Bastille was honestly not what they had planned for the day. It wasn’t even on their list of date ideas. But they couldn’t resist the amora that invaded their nostrils as they jumped across the market. They were greeted with vibrant colours and rows and rows of stores as they entered the market and decided to just roam around the market as their date for the day.
“Chaton, do you smell something?”
“Huh? I’m surrounded by the aroma of many things, which exactly are you talking about?”
“Aroma? Not odour?”
“Aroma.”
“Man it stinks so bad, do you really not smell it?”
“I really don’t.” He saw her face scrunched up. “That bad?”
She looked adorable though.
“Yes! Oh my gosh, I can’t believe you can’t smell it at all!” She grasped his hand. “Let’s go before I faint from this.”
Ladybug walked ahead and pulled him forward, but he stood rooted to the ground.
“Chaton?” She turned back.
Chat continued sniffing the air, and when he realised that she was watching him, he bent his knees and inhaled.
“Oh.”
He had caught a whiff of camembert.
Ladybug gawked at him as though he had offended generations of her family.
He gave her a teasing smile. “I smell it now, it’s camembert.”
She was still staring at him.
He moved towards her, arms circling her waist before jumping away from the open market to a rooftop nearby.
When they landed, she let go and stomped her feet. “Tell me you did not just do that!”
“I did,” he taunted.
“I can’t believe you!” She marched away from him.
He snorted.
“I get it. You're tall and I’m tiny.”
“Aw Buguinette, you’re a pretty tall lady yourself.”
“No, no I’m not. After you did that to emphasise our height difference, I don’t think I am!” She crossed her arms, puffed her cheeks, and looked away from him.
“I’m sorry my lady, I really couldn’t smell the odour you were complaining about.” He strolled towards her. “And admit it, you secretly like it too.”
“N-no, your long-ass limbs are always in the way.” She’s still not looking at him.
“Oh? In the way of what?” He brought his face to hers.
Ladybug bloomed a brilliant red. “I-In… in the way of…”
”Yes?” His eyes glinted.
“Ki— I mean, hugging!”
He caged her within his arms. “Is that an invitation for a kiss?” He smirked.
Her cheeks were burning. “N-no.”
“Okay,” he let her go.
“W-wait!” She grabbed his arms and wrapped them around her again.
“So you want a kiss?”
Her heartbeat raced upon hearing that. Ladybug didn’t trust her voice, so she simply nodded.
Chat leaned in, and Ladybug closed her eyes. A feathery light kiss brushed against her forehead before the warmth around her vanished. She opened her eyes and found that she was all alone on the rooftop.

Although most of us aren’t able to go on vacation at the moment, we hope this rec list will make everyone feel a bit better than that. Upon request, here is a rec list of bottom Louis fics where Harry, Louis, or both boys go on vacation at some point during the fic. Happy reading!
1) This Is Where I Sleep | Explicit | 3678 words
Harry and Louis go camping while on break and make some memories.
2) Under the Vanilla Sky | Explicit | 8006 words
Who the hell wears a hat like that on a yacht?  That's one of the things Louis thinks when he sees Harry from across the deck of the most expensive, ridiculous boat he's ever been on.  He also thinks he'd like to get closer.  Just to see what's under those aviators.  Just to verify that, yes, in fact, those white swim trunks might be a little see-through when wet.  Just to see if someone could really be that hot in real life.  On a yacht.  In the Caribbean sea just off the coast of St. Barts.
Here's what really happened on that yacht.
Or, my opinion, at least.
3) Rather This Than Live Without You | Explicit | 10715 words
Harry decides to give it all up. Louis refuses to be left behind.
4) Ready To Run | Explicit | 11940 words
After being left at the alter by his boyfriend of five years, Louis goes on a vacation to try and clear his head and fill the empty spaces in his heart. On the way, he meets a new group of life-long friends, and maybe a little more than that.
5) I Know You Have A Heavy Heart (I Can Feel It When We Kiss) | Explicit | 14489 words | Sequel
In which Louis is spending New Year’s alone in France but he’s definitely not running away, and Harry is a french florist with an ever present smile who cares a lot. They meet a cold night in the outskirts of Paris.
6) Don’t Put Out The Glow | Not Rated | 15007 words
"He fists out a pair of skinny jeans and a plain black tee. Nothing wrong there. Then he sees an atrocious Hawaiian shirt in Zayn’s hand and he starts digging through the bag urgently, pulling out more and more items that don’t belong to him."
7) Pleasure Over Matter | Explicit | 152014 words
Harry is a bit out of his element, and an unsuspecting stranger provides him temporary relief.
8) All I Want Is To Fall With You | Mature | 16254 words
The weekend ski trip where omega Louis discovers that he can’t change a tire and his skiing skills are debatable but still manages to find the alpha who will change his life.
9) Some Flowers In Your Hair | Explicit | 23015 words
A magical camping AU in which Louis is jealous of Harry's magic, Liam's a little too enthusiastic about surviving in the wilderness, and Niall might have misunderstood the rules.
10) Force of Nature | Mature | 25672 words
Louis is a shy, young musician who doesn't want to go to Harvard.
Harry is a confident,  second year athlete who likes to have a good time.
When their paths cross while their families are vacationing at the same lake resort, what begins as a summer of fun becomes a defining journey that might just change everything.
11) A Trail Of Honey Through It All | Explicit | 27085 words
The boy in front of him, well really, the man in front of him, was like something out of a confusing wet dream. Built, tall, tan and muscular, his skin glistened with sweat after a long day of working outdoors with his hands. He was wearing a cut up old American football shirt, the bottom hem was torn and the sleeves were cut off to the point where the t-shirt was really just a loose tank top. The shorts he had on had clearly been full length jeans at one point, and were now just crudely cut off above the knee. His white socks were pulled up too high on his calves, and the brown work boots he had on were old as fuck, the leather peeling along the edges of the soles. Curly brown hair stuck out from the edges of his backwards snapback, and there was a smudge of grease wiped along his brow bone. The smattering of hair along his jaw proved that he hadn’t shaved in a week or two, the hair growing in thicker across his upper lip and around his chin. His sinfully bowed mouth was pink and plump, and Louis was suddenly hyper-focused on the way that he chewed at the toothpick stuck between his lips. He looked like he needed a shower. Louis wanted to lick him.
12) Rivers ‘Til I Reach You | Explicit | 29315 words
AU. Louis studies astronomy; Harry studies Louis. They spend their summers on the water and it shouldn't be complicated (spoiler: it is).
13) The List | Mature | 32094 words
'In the weeks that follow, Harry opens his old journal more than he has in the past two years each time he remembers Venice or thinks about Louis. He always flips to the same random page in the middle of the book, marked by the picture of himself that Louis sent him a few days after they got home. There’s a message on the back that says, ‘Spontaneous looks good on you! See you soon,’ and it makes Harry’s chest warm each time he reads it. "Yeah. Let me walk you home." He huffed out.
"It's fine. It's just 10 mins away. I can go." She insisted.
"I know. But it's 1 am and it's dark. And we haven't talked alone even once. Please. Let me." He whispered the last part and she stared at him for a long minute.
It gave him butterflies. He hadn't been alone with her since he came back and now she was with him, close like this and staring at him. He couldn't help but be reminded of how much this was like before. Like 10 years ago.
"Alright. Let's go."
She was walking a step in front of him and he was walking behind, kind of concerned with how she was wavering slightly.
Suddenly she turned around and looked at him.
"You wanted to talk." She said and he nodded.
"I heard from Seungsik Hyung that you work at the publishing company he works at. But you're a cover design? Why not an editor?" He asked and she sighed.
"I majored in arts and design. So I'm working in that field." She said and she slowed down her pace to walk with him.
"Weren't you going to major in literature?" He asked, puzzled. She wanted to be a writer when they were in highschool. What went wrong?
She shrugged. "I couldn't write."
"And that book you started with me?" He asked again, dreading the answer.
"I stopped writing when you left Sejun. I couldn't. It reminded me of you. Eventually I just couldn't write at all so I changed my major from literature to arts." She said and he looked away.
"You never thought of completing it?"
"I tried. I tried after I left work after Jiah was born. I was going to stay at home and take care of her and start working again on writing. But then he died and everything fell apart." She said and he could feel she was trying to stop herself from crying. He wanted to console her but she looked up at him and smiled.
"I had Seungyoun with me and he helped me so much. After he died, I couldn't even move from my room for a week. Seungyoun and Jimin took care of Jiah and eventually helped me get out. I started working again as a freelancer and Seungsik helped me work from home at the same company. I still have to go to the office sometimes for meetings but I couldn't have done it without them."
He smiled at her words. She really had gone through so much but was happy now and Jiah was so lucky to have such a mother. He understood now why Seungyoun was so precious to her, made sense. Maybe he can understand now where she comes from and where Seungyoun comes from. Obviously he's overprotective.
"Enough about me Sejun. What about you? How was Paris?" She asked and gave him a big smile and he couldn't help smiling himself.
He talked about how he got into the patisserie school he wanted and got to work under the baker he had always looked upto. She couldn't stop herself from smiling with how happy Sejun sounded and he felt butterflies.
It was 1am in the morning, some of the stars were shining in the sky and the rest were in her eyes, and she was laughing with him. The world was alright and he felt like he could overcome anything as long as he could see that smile on her face.
And as soon as that thought came to his mind, she stopped walking.
"Here I am." She said, pointing to the apartment building behind her and he looked up. It was pretty close to his house too.
"That loft was a nice place. And pretty near. The party was beautiful too. I'll help you clean up?" He said and she laughed.
"It's fine. No hurry. We can do it anytime we want."
"Why? Wouldn't the owner be mad?" He asked and she smiled at him.
"It's mine. My husband gifted me that loft. He said it was small enough to be affordable but big enough for me to display my arts if i ever feel like doing it." She said and wow she married a rich guy.
"It was nice of the guys though. Although it might not be too far, they always compromise for places to go since I get worried about Jiah if she's not with us. I like to stay close to her and they understand it and I love them all so much for it." She said and he smiled. Seeing her so happy made him blissful. God he missed her.
She waved then and turned around to enter her building when he grabbed her hand and stopped her.
"Hey, You wanna grab something to eat?" He asked and she looked at him, perplexed.
"At this hour?" She asked and nodded.
She looked up at the building and he tugged at her arm. "Jiah is probably asleep and so must be Jimin. Come on, let's go eat!"
And she finally gave in. Who could resist those dimples?
"Is that diner still open? Where we used to go?" He asked her and she nodded.
"Then lead the way!" He said.
 ~
The next day Subin walked in the bakery and smiled at Taesong and took a seat on the stools near the counter.
"Is Sejun hyung inside?" And Taesong nodded. Subin asked him to call him and he went in and a few seconds later, Sejun walked out.
"Subin-ah. What's up?" He asked.
"How did it go yesterday, hyung?" Subin asked.
They walked in the diner they used to frequent when in highschool. The same lady was still the owner and she smiled at Jinae.
Jinae told him she comes here frequently with Jiah who loves the food. They took a seat in the booth and the lady came over to them, holding a menu.
"What would you like today kid? Isn't it too late for you? Where's Jiah?" She asked and Jinae smiled.
"She's home, probably asleep, with Jimin. I would like.. pancakes! Strawberry and cream pancakes!" She said and looked at Sejun.
Pancakes. That was what they always used to have there. Pancakes and waffles. Each of them would take different things and then split.
"I'll have waffles then. Chocolate waffles." He said and smiled back at her.
The lady smiled and then stared at Sejun for a while.
"I almost didn't recognize you but I could never forget those dimples. It's been a while since I have last seen you. It's nice to see you both together again." She said the last part smiling down at them and Sejun saw Jinae looking down and..was she turning pink?
"It was.. something." Sejun said, smiling to himself.
Subin nodded and took out his laptop and started working and asked for a coffee.
When Sejun got him his coffee, Subin thanked him and started working again but Sejun kept staring at him.
"Subin-ah. Can I ask you something?" Sejun asked and Subin nodded, looking up at him.
"We kissed yesterday." He confessed and Subin stared at him, eyes wide.
"Seriously?" He asked with so much happiness that Sejun blushed slightly.
"Yeah. But she hadn't messaged me yet. Nor replied when I messaged her at Least 4 hours ago."
Subin looked at him, unimpressed, and said,"You know the address. Go to her."
Sejun leaned back. "I should, right? Should I take something too?" He asked and Subin nodded.
"Of Course! Taesong, Can you pack a few cupcakes? Especially the Oreo ones? I have to leave, take care of the bakery while I'm gone." He said, crossing a confused Taesong and walking in the staff room to check his hair and face for any flour stains.

He rang the bell and waited, albeit nervously.
He knew her building and she told him yesterday night her apartment number, saying Jiah would love to have him home someday. So here he was, waiting patiently for her to open the door.
She did just that and he smiled seeing her in her pyjamas with loosely tied hair but her eyes looked panicked and she came out of the apartment and closed the door behind her.
"Hey Sejun. What are you doing here?" She asked and he raised an eyebrow at her.
"I wanted to see you. And I got cupcakes for Jiah!" He said, lifting up the box to show her.
"Umm bad timing Sejun."
"Why?" He asked but then they both heard someone Calling her name from the inside of her apartment and then the door opened and someone peeked out to see them.
"Wooseok?" Sejun said.
