I’ve found absolutely no source saying they’re the “largest satanist group in the world” though, and I’d be highly skeptical of such a claim. Scientology does something similar (we have Millions of members and you can’t prove otherwise!) so I’d take that with a grain of salt.

They seem pretty cool, if a bit rude to other religions(to be fair, most religions are). They definitely seem to be realistic and to the point, not dithering on and with clear phrasing, but I don't think I'm qualified to have much more of an opinion than that, seeing as I hadn't heard about them before your ask.

Hey friends! This is a spam message. If you type in that URL, it takes you to a website full of antisemitism, Holocaust denial, and other neo-nazi rhetoric. It's a cult using a warped version of satanic philosophy to justify white supremacy.
They use bots to send these asks out in massive numbers because if more people go to the website, the engagement pushes the site to the top of search engines.
So fuck joyofsatan and fuck all nazis everywhere. Antisemitic bullshit is not welcome on my blog.

Well, I did some reading on their website. I am generally not a fan of organizations who ask for money without explaining exactly where that money is going, nor am I fan of religions with goal to “advance” past other religions. That being said, they seem to be about on parr with most other organized religions. I’m not particularly concerned about anything they’re doing, just from what I’ve seen. They denounce any kind of cruelty or law-breaking, and seem to just be doing their own thing. That thing is diametrically opposed to my thing, but as far as I know they’re not hurting anyone so I don’t really care.
As far as I can tell they don’t claim to worship anyone besides Satan, and I’m not sure where you got the statistic of them being the largest pagan group in the world. To my knowledge that’s Wicca.

If you get a message or ask like this, don't engage and just block! This is a nazi hate group that has nothing whatsoever to do with paganism or actual pagan gods of any kind, sumerian or otherwise. Don't interact, they're trying to use you to spread propaganda and recruit. I also suggest turning off anon asks as they seem to mostly prefer to send asks anonymously.
The site they are advertising is disgusting:
- They are incredibly misinformed about a ridiculous number of topics (history, Lilith, and Judaism for example)
- They are antisemitic, racists, and white supremacists
- They have been affiliated with neo-Nazi groups and were founded by someone married to a neo-Nazi leader
- They are not the largest Satanic group as claimed by them, as theistic Satanists (like JoS) are far outnumbered by atheistic Satanists (ie Church of Satan)

To be honest, Anon, I have never heard of the site before. It appears from a skim over that it is a literal worship of Satan unlike ‘regular’ Satanism that I am familiar with. Joy of Satan is a group that combines theistic Satanism and Nazi occultism. okay i could give a very convoluted and long explanation of my thoughts on this (edit: after finishing writing this post i realised i did exactly that) but that is better suited to audio/video format so here are my quick and dirty takes (i am coming at this from the perspective of a hellenic polytheist and also as someone who had not really dived deep into this organisation prior to research for responding to this comment):
my first instinct when looking into any satanic/ satanist org. is to deduce whether or not they're laveyan in nature. anton lavey was not only a misogynistic and racist nut job but he also just had pretty bad, one-dimensional, poorly thought out philosophies regarding his paradigm that seem almost sophomoric when you compare them to the writings and philosophies of other prominent occultists like israel regardie, ithell colquhoun, moina mathers and aleister crowley (among many others). this organisation claims "satanism is not a creation of anton lavey," and, although it's good that lavey is denounced, this statement isn't exactly accurate. prior to laveyan satanism's rise in the 1960s, "satanism" was really only a term used by christians to accuse groups of people they didn't like (pagans, women, people of conquerable nations, other christians) of ungodliness-- for profit, control, etc. the closest relic of pre-laveyan "satanism" i could find were the cathars of southern europe circa 1100-1300 a.d, who considered themselves christians but believed in two gods; one good, and one evil. the catholics took this to mean the cathars believed satan was a god, but in reality, the "evil god" that the cathars talked about was the god of the biblical old testament who created the physical world. this gets muddy because some cathars sort of equated the old testament god with satan, but not the normal catholic satan, but that's a tangent i don't see pertinent right now.
one of the bigger red flags i immediately stumbled upon was the repeated accusation of this organisation that the christian bible was an insidious "subliminal tool" filled with hidden messages intended to brainwash and "control the masses." the idea of various pieces of mainstream culture/media/etc being a threat to spiritual awakeness as weapons of brainwashing is unfortunately one that is way too prominent in both ceremonial and new age occult circles alike. these conspiracy theories are not only baseless, but also incredibly harmful as they spread paranoia and prey on vulnerable people (often, again, for power, profit, and/or control). in this case, this message is extremely effective in causing believers to isolate themselves from their christian friends and family (isolation from the outside world being a telltale sign of a cult, might i add) and potentially even go so far as to fear their christian loved ones because they see them as brainwashed slaves to... i'm not exactly sure, actually.
which brings me to my next point, which is that a lot of this stuff just seems poorly researched at best and a very lazy attempt at creating a conspiracy theory at worst. the website keeps on drilling down this idea of the bible being a brainwashing tool to control the masses, but, at least from my searching, i was never able to find any claims as to who's doing the brainwashing. the writers of this site state "the agenda here is to create a one-world slave state with the "chosen" few ruling at the top," which sort of implies that the brainwashers are some sort of government, but it's never elaborated on enough to convince me that this was intentional and not just an assumption i made myself. other ways that these brainwashers are referred to include: "the perpetrators," and "they." neither of these helped me in figuring out what this idea was actually about.
one of this organization's biggest selling points is the idea that the entire bible was stolen from religions that predated christianity. again, this isn't entirely true, but for the sake of maintaining some level of conciseness i will speak only to the parts of this idea that are, technically, true. the author of this site (and i really do think it's one author due to the fact that they speak in the first person at several points using "i" to refer to themself) is not incorrect in saying that parts of the bible were "stolen" from other religions. but, for lack of a more eloquent way of saying this, that is already really fucking obvious and borderline common knowledge for anyone interested in religion at all. yes, organised christianity was oppressive and often violent towards pagans and other religions. yes, the catholic church worked hard to destroy relics of pagan worship in rome (and elsewhere) as catholicism gained popularity and political power. i resent organised christianity as much as the next raised-evangelical-pagan out there, but the idea that simply creating a religion out of other religions is in and of itself insidious almost makes me laugh. all religions, all subcultures, all moral paradigms are created from those that predated them. i'm actually having trouble articulating this idea better because i just don't know how to break it down further than this is how things have always been for all religions, what are you on? practitioners of stregheria worship and venerate both roman gods and catholic saints. hermeticists, thelemites, and jews all use a version of kabbalah/ qabala. the fucking hellenic pantheon is based heavily on the kemetic pantheon that predated it, and hesiod himself even uses the egyptian names to refer to the gods at points in the theogony. i'm getting mad and derailed, but tl;dr this is a bad take and one of the most hilarious attempts at anti-christian rhetoric i have ever seen in my entire life.
a slight sidenote, but this goddamn site claims that, and i fucking quote: "the number four was stolen and corrupted in the judeo/christian bible as with the number seven, the most blatant example being the four gospels." in case you needed a laugh.
regarding op's initial question: this is definitely a super fringe organization (i'm hesitant to even call it a group), and it is certainly not the "largest pagan group in the world." that would be wicca, followed by druidry, or if you wanted to count all the various paths of heathenry, that would be right up there too. the JoS probably doesn't even rank top 100. i'd be interested to see where you got the info that this organization was the largest pagan group just out of my own curiosity (no hate to you though because i've totally reposted absolutely dogshit occult takes online in my heyday so this is nothing compared to that)
i also couldn't find any evidence that they worship the greek pantheon. they reference the hellenic religion, likening it to christianity in that both religions view their deities as "good" and "perfect" (again, i'm confused as to how someone can just say facts that are so obviously false like this. they had enough technological skill to build an eyesore of a website but not to google the first thing about greek mythology?), and they reference odin once too, but i never found anything saying they believed in or worshipped any pagan pantheon outside of the "gods of hell" and satan (and other demons).
after digging deeper into outside sources on this organization i've realised my suspicions were correct and the JoS is a smorgasbord of early 2000s conspiracy theories, neo-nazi rhetoric and anti-semetic ramblings founded by, as i suspected, one person.
overall this was a fun rabbit hole to go down but in the end it was just nazi occultists doing nazi occultist things once again. what differentiates the JoS from other evolian abominations however would have to be the blatant stupidity and laziness of the author of this site. most occultists, even the scummy nazi ones, at least have a basic understanding of magickal theory, popular mythologies and religious history, but this lady fully just said "fuck it" and then posted the worst takes on the ugliest website and called it religion.
tl;dr: JoS is just a nazi edgelord's y2k blog, and i need to go to bed.

Joyofsatan.org (JoS) is ran by people of color, they aren’t white supremacists. JoS follows non-white Pagan Gods. JoS has a black high priestess, Asian high priest, Hispanic High Priestess, etc. Josafrica.com was created by Shannon Outlaw whom is a black woman and the high priestess of JoS.
The JoS websites have repeatedly stated that people of any race can join them. According to ancient-forums.com which is the official JoS forums, there’s thousands upon thousands of non-white and mixed race JoS members that have their own spaces on the forum.
The Abrahamic religions are anti-Satanic, anti-Pagan, anti-women and anti-gay so why can’t JoS be anti-Abrahamic? JoS supports women’s rights and gay rights. JoS was founded by a woman and worships Pagan Goddesses.
Disclaimer to anyone reading: I am going to attempt to address this response with all of the patience and researched nuance I can. This response has been sitting in my drafts for a month or so, because I did not have enough energy to fully tackle this subject up until this moment in time.
If I do have any information mistaken regarding any mentioned cultures, feel free to correct me with credible sources and links. But, not YOU Nazi. You can kick rocks. I don't take criticism from bigots and manipulators.
First of all, the person who originally founded Joy Of Satan is a white, European man by the name of Clifford Herrington.
He was part of the NVM (National Socialist Movement) and his wife is Andrea Herrington aka Andrea Maxine Dietrich.
She has since his passing used different online aliases in addition to altering info on who the original founder of JOS is; but, it was him.
This is a picture that was discovered online of your cult’s founders. You can see clear as day they’re white. JOS is not and has never been founded/owned by a priest or priestess. They do not have that level of authority. They are only tasked with teaching sermons.
Going forward this is straight from the JOS site:
Anyone coming into this practice from a negative background may look at this kind of sentimentality and think, "wow, they're so open-minded and enlightened!"
But they’re not.
Of course, if you're coming from a religion of strict tenets, you'll think of this as a breath of fresh air. They're promising you everything the old religion didn’t offer you, "self expression," "freedom of thought," "self-betterment" it is all buzzwords to draw your attention. You must look at it from this perspective: if it's offered along with "we believe in the self expression of everyone EXCEPT a specific demographic of people" it's not factually based or empathetic to what is needed. This isn’t liberty. It’s just more oppression with an aesthetic label.
"For a hoax to succeed there has to be a lack of knowledge on the part of the victim" is a red flag when it is accompanying disparaging racial-fueled rhetoric and isn't backed by facts/credible sources. Yes, it is racial fueled. It's not progressive or inclusive behavior.
These groups don't want you to see Jewish people as a race of people. They hide by the generalized sentiment that it is only about the animosity for the Abrahamic practice that they potentially follow, but not every Jewish person adheres to Judeo/Christian faith.
You might think, well "I'm not Jewish, so this doesn't concern or bother me," but, you need to realize this type of racism goes beyond just hating Jewish people. It's just the starting point and back-bone of the problem. These oppressive groups never stay satisfied with hating and controlling just one group of people--it transfers to other people over time, because it's ultimately about power for the race they believe to be ideological.
Jewish people were not the only victims of the Holocaust--that the Nazi's were massively responsible for--it became other marginalized people and their cultures, the LGBTQ+ community, women, children, the disabled, etc. // These people are part of the same ideology that once saw new born babies killed in concentration camps.
And where the HELL do you see mention of a Pagan Goddess being worshipped? It wasn’t bad enough y’all are trying to make Satanism into Scientology 2.0 mixed with Nazism, but you are trying to imply that it is something akin to the appropriating practices and white-lighting energy of Wicca? How hysterical. You are accepting and non-judgmental of everyone EXCEPT Jewish people and anyone else you desire the mass genocide of. Admit it. You are not better than any type of Abrahamic religion. You're not just more of the same negativity that tarnishes these faiths, but you're worse.
JOS have mentioned it plenty: they worship Satan. It’s all over their site and forums. Maxine herself preaches about Satan being blonde-haired, blue eyed with Nordic features (not biased 🙄).
She alleges that he is referred to as being one of the Greys (omfg); for anyone else reading and wondering what she means by the Greys—aliens. Most of what she writes about sounds like the excerpts of a disturbed teenager’s dream diary. She's treating an entire branch of religion with the same sympathy as fanfiction.
I’m rolling my eyes into the void at the very superificial tale about deceased souls, too. Good news everybody! We get to go to the bar and destroy our lungs in the afterlife. Why would be need to smoke in Hell? Aren't we supposed to be breathing in the flames of damnation? She needs to admit she is a chain smoker who needs reassurance about her addiction along with her repressed sexuality. That's her damage right there. She needs professional, medical attention.
I don’t even think she knows what plane or dimension she is talking about being in, to be frank. She is that non-committed to her own insanity. She’s afraid of her own shadow talking back.
And yes, I’m mentioning Wicca because they’re the Neo-Pagan religion that likes to appropriate the worship of Gods belonging to many closed off religions. I’ve done some dumpster diving and see that y’all like to include appropriation of other God’s, but not in the context that you are trying to imply in this ask.
Don’t think I don’t know about your groups appropriation of the Yezidi and their practices. They’re a closed community and do not want people touching their beliefs! You are appropriating Melek Taûs who is a Yezidi God. He is not Satanic!! He is not Satan. He is a semite God and angel associated with peacocks.
As for Enki, that’s an ancient Sumerian God associated with water and fertility. He has nothing to do with Satan or Satanism.
Lucifer is not Satan, either. He is Roman/Greek predominantly and associated with enlightenment and marriage. He is known by other titles like Phosphorus and Vesperus. If we want to get technical there is also some separate mythologies that point him to being the Pagan God of the Fair Ones (aka Fairies). He is the dawn bringer or evening star depending on who you ask. All of these Gods are separate forces with differing origins.
I am not surprised by Maxine and her follower’s ignorance since the very usage of the swastika is appropriated from other cultures. It’s origins are tied to Indian, Chinese and Egyptian cultures. I don’t really expect Nazi’s to have education or respect for that.

And please, if you're reading this, do not assume all Japanese people think or behave like this, because they DON'T. There is accounts of Latinos and other groups being involved as well. Most of them did not do it to be evil. They didn't get involved necessarily with the logic that many White people did--they were under illusions of military ideologies and amenities until they realized they weren't genuine, or that's how I'm observing it.

aka “Please help us scam you.” Like...for real...you guys are trying to dodge properly filing taxes with Bitcoin, huh? It's too bad the IRS is starting to track that, now. It's probably not even a reputable Bitcoin company or safe link, though. It could be a p*** or phishing site. A lot of them are staged to appear as real businesses when they're really stealing people's money and identities. I just think it's peculiar there are no links to charity or any type of alternative payments being offered. Sounds very on brand to the rest of your unethical mentality.
Satanism doesn’t need money to advance; because that is not how religion works, and insinuating so suggests it exists purely for the benefit of extortion, which you may as well be saying it's a fake belief system that thousands before you didn't really die believing in. Not saying extortion doesn't often happen within dogmatic systems, because that is too often the case and it is a real problem--but, the practice itself doesn't dictate the faith.
Satanism and Luciferianism in their own ways date no later than the 1800's, but really go back to the middle ages. Mind you, you'll have to do extended research on this topic.
Devil Worship, outside of any religions, dates itself back to the Late Paleolithic era in addition. It's taken me 22 years and counting of fact-checking and I'm still learning--so if it's not easy for me, don't expect the knowledge to arrive to you on a silver platter.
I'm already self-conscious I could be leaving out data or spreading my own misinformation and that's not my intention. I always tell people they need to read everything with a grain of salt and to use their own discernment on everything they study. Information does not need to be absorbed indiscriminately like a sponge. Don't believe me that I'm some authority of power or knowledge, and least of all, they shouldn't believe that the JOS are ideal and honorable and should be given it.
Just admit y'all don't really respect Satanism and and only use it as a distraction to hate on an entire culture like the edge lords you are.
You know Satanism already gets a bad rep and exploit it to your convenience--because, I've seen it too many times when one of you gets legally apprehended by the authorities for crimes like murder, it's always with the reasoning that it's your religious right or some other variant of argument. No...it isn't.
Before you guide others about self-improvement, put your bitcoin where your mouth is or fall into a pit of fire.
