A Complete Encyclopedia of the Lore of Every Witcher School
This is a project I've been working on for a long time. The Witcher Schools in general have lore spread across 3 or 4 different sources, so it's very easy to find inaccurate details about each school due to a person only going off of one source without even knowing of the others. Hell, I've been guilty of this in the past. So I've gone out of my way to find every source available for the various Witcher Schools and compile it into one master post, mostly pulling from the standalone Gwent game, and the Witcher TRPG. Without further ado, let's start out with the original school, the Order of Witchers.
Tumblr media
Witcher schools are like the Clans of Skellige, subtly different, but largely united by their common ground, and that common ground is the Order of Witchers.
The Order of Witchers began as an experiment by the rogue mages Alzur and his mentor Cosimo Malaspina. They "recruited" tests subjects from orphanages, buying them from neglectful parents, or outright kidnapping street kids.
From Cosimo's Gwent Card:
"Children keep asking him for gifts. He doesn’t know why, but it really helps with finding subjects for his experiments."
The main goal of this project was to create an order of knights artificially mutated and imbued with extreme levels of magic to protect people from a world where, at the time, monsters were often literally around every corner.
The mutation experiments were grueling, and most early candidates died horribly, the girls especially, as the mutagenic compounds the mages were working with at the time were better suited for a boys physiology, and they quickly stopped trying to find a mixture that worked well with women, instead refining the more successful candidate pool. Even with these refinements, however, the Witchers couldn't actually generate much in the way of magical power, at least not nearly as much as those funding the project had hoped for.
These early candidates were encouraged to stick to political neutrality, were told of their duty to protect the common people, and their sword instructor tried to encourage them to take on knightly virtues to live their lives by, though only a few candidates actually bought fully into these particular knightly ideals.
The school developed a training regimen that all later Witcher schools would put their own small twists on. They perfected the whirling sword style, practiced on the Pendulum and Gauntlet training courses. They learned the Witcher Sign magic, created by Cosimo. They were taught hunting and monster lore from experts hired from across the world, and master alchemists crafted the famous Witcher potions.
Ultimately, funding from this school would be pulled due to the Witcher candidates lack of truly powerful magic ability, and the order would start to fracture. Witchers dissatisfied with their lot in life after being forcibly mutated, and railing against the Order's enforced ideals began getting combatative with other Witchers over petty contracts. At this time, contracts were so plentiful that there was no real need to fight over them, but these dissident Witchers did so anyway out of a desire for autonomy and to be free of the Order's code, which they saw as having no practical purpose to prepare new Witchers for the road ahead. This culminated in one such outspoken Witcher, Arnaghad, attacking another Witcher who poached a contract from him.
After being forced into the painful life of a Witcher, Arnaghad loathed anyone who imposed their will upon him, the Order and it's codes especially. He led an attack on the Order proper, aided by fellow Witchers who respected his defiance towards authority. Once they were beaten back, these dissidents fled to the Amell mountain range to start the next Witcher school, the School of the Bear.
Tumblr media
The School of the Bear is one of the most misunderstood schools of them all, owing to the first major lore drop about them being largely in-universe rumors and conjecture surrounding the school, and as such I may need to go more in depth. The two major misconceptions stemming from this is the rumor about their armor, which claims that they don't bother dodging like the other Witchers and instead take blows head on (generally a bad idea, according to Geralt in the books), and the rumor about them attacking most Witchers they meet.
I contacted Cody Pondsmith, who wrote a great deal of this lore, and he mentioned that Bears do often threaten or even fight other Witchers, but in a very Skellige way, only to ward off the other Witcher from contracts they want. The Bears just want to live lives where they aren't commanded by others, and were trained especially brutally, and so will fight for what contracts they want. However they will NEVER kill another Witcher, just draw first blood (outside of duels to decide who runs the school, which occasionally turn deadly. It's unknown if Arnaghad has ever lost these duels) and if that other Witcher stands up to the Bear, they'll let them have the contract and if they meet up and work together enough even maybe become a lifelong friend.
To quote Cody himself: "I like to think of the Witcher Order as a big family in which the Bear School is the blunt, no-nonsense brother. He can be prickly and a bit of a bully sometimes but he takes his job seriously and he can be a good drinking buddy if you get to know him. Not the friendliest of people but far from evil. If you stand up to him and show him you're not afraid of him, he'll respect you."
The other rumor is also an exaggeration. The Witcher TRPG mentions that the Bear armor was designed with flexibility in mind, and while they trained to take on weaker blows with their armor and "mastery of the Quen sign", they also trained how to move quickly in their armor if they needed to dodge a fatal blow. The Bears also still trained on the gauntlet and pendulum like the other schools. Cody Pondsmith also confirmed that the Bears are just as agile as the other Witchers.
The Bears' core philosophy is almost very Lambert like, viewing Witcher's work not as a duty, or knightly virtue, but as difficult, brutal work. The only reason they stick to this work is to do a job where no one else commands them and they're left in peace. They focus only on the practical aspects of their profession, and as such discourage their students from working together in training, since Witchers work alone. As Arnaghad said, "We pass through life alone, better get used to it!" As a result, Bears are very isolated, preferring their own company to that of other Witchers, and were encouraged to value their autonomy and self care above all else. The Bears' final trial involved climbing to the top of Mt. Gorgon and back, and any who died from the cold were left "as a sobering reminder of the dangers of their trade". Despite this, the TRPG has a list of random early training events Witchers from all schools can have, and Bears could sometimes make friends amongst their fellow witchers in training just like members of every other school.
Once the new Bear students left their keep of Haern Caduch, most wouldn't return to winter there, unlike the other schools. They developed a reputation as being terrible to fight, and for being firebrands, often speaking very bluntly, not matter who they spoke to, authority included. Once such Witcher, named Gerd, was asked by a Duchess to help kill her father. He insulted her so badly he got a warrant for his death placed on him, though all the peasants he met spoke rather highly of him. As a result, Bears found it easiest to make friends amongst the similarly minded Dwarves and Gnomes of the Amell mountains, and people of the Skellige Isles. According to Cody Pondsmith, this is the main reason the Bears stayed together as a group at all. They valued autonomy above all else and so long as they functioned as a Witcher school, they were left alone and no rulers would try and command them. They also take their ideals of free will and apply it to others, never seeking to rule over others. They simply wish to live their lives free.
One of the original Witchers to side with Arnaghad, Ivar Evil-Eye, had extra mutations done to him by the Order of Witchers during his trial, allowing him to see into other worlds. In these visions he saw the Wild Hunt rampaging across them, conquering them. Ivar became obsessed with stopping them, and tried to kill Arnaghad to take command and lead the Bear school against the Hunt. This failed, so he and his supporters left to form the Viper School.
Tumblr media
The Witchers of the Viper school, based in Gorthur Gvaed, were said to be the most secretive, taking contracts as both assassins and witchers. They at first dedicated themselves finding a way to stop the Wild Hunt, amassing a massive library on the subject. Fighting with an unpredictable, ambushed based variant of the Witcher fighting style, Viper Witchers employed poisons, brewed by skilled Viper alchemists, on both their swords, and a dagger in their offhand, their biggest deviation from typical Witcher combat techniques.
Vipers, for an unknown reason, eventually forgot their purpose. In his time, Letho of Gullet could only guess at why the school had been founded. Instead, they became famous for their skill at political killings, dealing with the nobility of the southern countries before Nilfgaard had even become a large-scale power.
Viper students had a different type of trial, after more grueling than typical training. Instead of any physical task like the other schools, the Viper students were given a pet at their induction to the school. And to graduate, they simply had to hunt it down and kill it, showing their lack of mercy.
While most of those who supported Ivar followed him to the Viper school, one group broke off and west east, across the Korath desert, to Zerikania, founding the School of the Manticore.
Tumblr media
The School of the Manticore was founded by the Witcher Iwan, from the School of the Bear, following Ivar's assassination attempt on Arnaghad. They got work in the Korath desert as caravan guards, earning the attention of the Zerrikanian Queen after a deadly battle with a manticore. The Queen sponsored the Witchers of the Manticore, making them the only school to be officially backed by any government. They were experts on potions and anti-toxins, a necessity of dealing with the poisonous creatures of the Korath desert.
A unique adaptation to the monsters of the desert also had Manticore Witchers employ shields into the whirling combat of their Witcher training. Given their extra support, the Manticores held two keeps, Behelt Nar and Bailsuf Alsarea, on opposite sides of the desert, so that they might better patrol and guard those within it.
The Manticore is the final school to come from the schism Arnaghad had led. The other voices of dissent against the ideals of the Order would soon hear of these new schools and decide to break off as well to form the School of the Cat.
Tumblr media
The School of the Cat was founded out of a response to the hatred and distrust Witchers received. They desired to be seen in a better, more respectful light. Ironically, they would end up doing the opposite. The Cat School stole away with several of the mutagens needed to make more Witchers and headed to Ebbing, and Stygga Citadel, where they would begin to experiment on human-elf children in an attempt to perfect the mutations. Its possible that the mages at this time furthered experiments on making women Witchers, but this is not confirmed yet.
Attempting to make a name for themselves, the Cats hired themselves out as spies, assassins, and mercenaries, genuinely earning them some respect from common folk for killing bandits.
In their attempts to perfect the mutations and further dull the emotions of their Witchers, the Cat school experimented harshly on a group of children that resulted in the opposite, giving these Witchers hightened emotional responses instead. These students, cast aside and left for dead, fled into the arms of a group of elves, who agreed to support them if this branch of the Cat School supported the elves' fight for freedom.
This branch, led by Gezras of Leyda, attached itself to the Dyn Marv caravan and traveled the continent, lending their services mostly to those nonhumans who could pay, while the main Cats at Stygga ended up getting assaulted by angry royals incited by their political maneuvering. This left the Dyn Marv branch as the only functional element of the School of the Cat. These Cats would train students' agility in a light, fast Elven take on Witcher fighting style, and would train their balance by making students walk a tightrope, starting low to the ground at first, but getting higher and higher each attempt.
The Cat school's breaking of Witcher neutrality and reputation for bloodlust earned Witchers such a bad name that those in the Order who most cherished their old swordmaster's knightly virtues would leave to form the School of the Griffin.
Tumblr media
The School of the Griffin, led by Erland of Larvik, wished to truly achieve the dream of the original Order, and Gryphon, the Order's sword instructor. They traveled north to Kaer y Saren, an old fortress the Order once used, and cleansed it of the spirits of those who died in the first Witcher mutations. From there, they began a Witcher school focused on respectability and honor, believing in their knightly duties. And it worked, somewhat. The Griffins were sometimes advisors to nobility, and seen as honorable, but the prejudice against Witchers would never leave, and most would never see a Griffin Witcher as anything more than a monster playing at being a knight.
These Witchers tried their best to cushion their students against the pain of their lives on the Witcher's path, and were more brotherly than the other schools, though their knightly virtues and brotherhood were oftentimes cold comfort to Griffin students.
From the Witcher TRPG Sourcebook:
"Witcher I knew couldn’t really remember much ‘bout his past. Heh, too young to really form a lotta memories when they took him to Kaer Y Seren. Told me that the memory he did have made the mutations easier. Poor bastard clung to a memory of his pa takin’ him on a horse for a ride in the fields. Don’t know why he chose that one. Probably the only normal memory he had."
The Griffins amassed a huge library of magical knowledge, though they could only push sign magic so far, and the books were likely wasted being in a Witcher library. The library held several incredibly famous tomes on magic within, and was the envy of full mages across the Northern Realms. Despite all their efforts, they never could achieve their goal of bringing about the Order of Witcher's vision. The Griffins even had their own breaches of Witcher tradition in pursuit of their knightly heroics. An often said mantra of the Griffin school in Gwent is "To slay dragons! Tis our knightly duty!" despite dragons being largely innocent, intelligent beings who mostly wish to be left in peace.
Code Pondsmith had this to say about the Griffins:
"The Griffins stuck to the knightly traditions that the original witcher order tried to uphold. As a result it's safe to say that the Griffin school taught that monsters were the enemy of mankind and must be defeated. I don't think they would all be blindly overzealous but they wouldn't have any qualms about slaying sapient monsters if they believed it was for the good of mankind. Similarly, it's likely that they would side with humans in any conflict between monsters and humans. In a way, the Griffins' knightly virtues made them easier to manipulate than the other witcher schools. They were bound to protect humanity and thus were more likely to be convinced to hunt a monster if a local noble or alderman claimed it would be for the good of the people. This is the case with the dragons. The kingdoms and jewelers guilds of the North convinced the Griffin School that dragons were a blight upon humanity and the Griffins started slaying dragons regardless of whether all of the dragons they slew deserved it. Additionally, the knightly values might make Griffin school witchers more likely to take pity on desperate humans and work for free."
Those few Witchers remaining in the Order by now traveled to northern Kaedwyn, and started a school based on their tempered, traditionalist, and realistic view on the Order's goals. They based themselves in Kaer Morhen and dubbed themselves the School of the Wolf.
Tumblr media
The School of the Wolf is the most famous Witcher school, known for their professionalism and efficiency. They don't kill humans like the Viper or Cat. Aren't bold or brash like the Bear, or put Knightly virtues above Witcher ideals like the Griffin. I mean, anyone reading far this knows who the Wolf Witchers are, so I'm not going to get into to much detail. They're Geralt's school. Ciri's school.
They took a balanced approached to Witcher life and as such trained Witchers who were the best adjusted out of the schools, with neither the Bear's harshness nor the Griffin's egocentrism. For this, Wolf Witchers were lauded all across the Continent.
With all Schools formed, the Golden Age of Witchers began, at first with the Bears and Griffins making peace. From Erland of Larvik's Journal (The TRPG's monster manual):
"Surprisingly enough the fracturing of the witcher order had lead to a more effective organization for us witchers. Spread across the Continent and each making more witchers independently, it was no longer the task of 60 or 70 witchers to patrol the entire Continent from Nilfgaard to Kovir. Each school patrolled their own path and when a Gryphon met with a Bear each knew they had their territory and any infighting wouldn’t be worth the bloodshed. We managed to broker peace and live as somewhat estranged brothers rather than bitter enemies"
Witchers at this time were seen largely as heroes, with their detractors' voices largely simmering underneath. With Witchers around to kill monsters, people felt safe and so ignored any misgivings they might have.
Witchers, no matter the school, aren't too dissimilar from each other, and so the Cintinent at large formed an overall opinion of the Witchers based on the traits they all shared. From the TRPG:
"In the heyday of witchers there were many many seperate schools, which all mutated new witchers and taught them the neccesary skills to hunt monsters and lift curses. While it’s generally agreed that there is a core set of skills required to a be a witcher,
each school taught its students differently and focused on different aspects of witcher training. Thus, witchers from different schools often act differently and go about their jobs in similar but varied ways."
During this time, the Schools all produced hundreds of Witchers, and each was their own person, With their own preferences and personality, despite the schools themselves having reputations for Witchers with only a few certain traits. For instance, the Bear Witcher Ivo of Belhaven fought like a Viper or Cat Witcher, but in personality was a perfect fit for the Bear School with how standoffish he could be.
They also all customized their gear in different ways, usually keeping their gear in similar fashion to their school's, as its what they trained in an were used to. For example, Bear Witcher Junod of Belhaven wore what appears to be a set of Wolf School armor he had modified to fit Bear Witcher style.
Tumblr media
Witchers also at this time experimented with signs. The Griffins obviously focused on making them more powerful, and the Bears pushed Quen to a level beyond any other school. But the most interesting case is that of Warrit, a blind Viper Witcher who used the lesser known Somne sign as a form of echolocation.
Tumblr media
The Golden age lasted for around 150-200 years or so, ending around 1160 when the monster populations had been hunted down enough that people's main concern stopped being the monsters, and became the Witchers themselves.
The Griffin School, refusing to share the knowledge of its library, was destroyed by jealous mages. A group of peasants and mages attacked the Wolves' keep out of nowhere. The Bears failed to destroy a powerful cabal of vampires and, when peasants rioted and came for their keep, chose to disband rather than engage in needless slaughter. The Cat's keep of Stygga is destroyed, but the Dyn Marv chapter may still be alive and well. The Manticore School failed to protect an important prince from a fire elemental, and so lost their funding and closed. The Viper refused to support the Nilfgaardian usurper and were destroyed.
If you've made it this far, holy shit, thank you! I hope you have a great day!

Ivar Evil-Eye
Chest: The Witcher School of the Viper made their home in the stronghold of Gorthur Gvaed. Guarded by a remarkable tower adorned by a frighteningly ominous spiral coiled around its contours. Yet it held not a candle to the terrifying moat that surrounded it—deep by several hundred feet and truly… breathtaking. No one could tell if what was filling it should still be called water. The smells above the moat were, to put it mildly, hard to forget. Viper witchers, who survived the fall of the stronghold, later joked that it was the stench that led the Usurper’s army to find Gorthur Gvaed. Countless soldiers died in this gutter. According to legends, so many perished that one could have made their way to the other side of the moat on a bridge composed entirely of their corpses. And the odour grew even worse.
Scroll 1: Ivar founded the Viper School having a great purpose in mind—contrary to rumours that its sole reason for existence was to offer less savoury services. The grandmaster understood that he would not be able to achieve his true goal alone—he intended to find and defeat the Wild Hunt.
Scroll 2: You see, Ivar was one of the unfortunate few who endured the mutations extremely well, and so was selected for further, more complicated experiments. Of those subjected to these enhancements, only he survived—perhaps due to the mages only managing to partially complete the trial.
Scroll 3: As a result of these experiments, Ivar gained his moniker, as well as a new sight. His so-called “Evil Eye” saw a different world. Many other worlds, really. With his eye, he watched as ghostly riders dashed along the Spiral, and observed how they’d kidnap, kill, and conquer. Forever haunting Ivar’s special vision, these specters became his obsession.
Scroll 4: Unfortunately, while he managed to get to know his enemy extremely well, he never got close enough to do much about it. Though he could glimpse their rampage from afar, he shared not their mobility, and found himself endlessly chasing shadows. When the Wild Hunt was finally defeated, Ivar was long dead.
Additional lore from The Manticore School Expansion from R. Talsorian Games explaining in more detail of how Ivar left Haern Caduch (because I find it interesting and actually expanding Ivar and Vipers’ lore)
The School of the Manticore was founded not long after the School of the Viper, by a small cadre of witchers who did not share the high-minded goals of their brothers.Their leader, a witcher named Iwan, left Haern Caduch with Ivar Evil Eye when the second fracturing formed the School of the Viper. Iwan had never cared for Arnaghad or his brutal philosophy and when the falling out between Arnaghad and Ivar reached its head, he had no qualms about leaving. But as the witchers who would come to be called the Vipers traveled in search of a new home, Iwan learned more of Ivar Evil Eye’s dark prophecy and his grim resolution. The young witcher did not share his Grandmaster’s ambition nor his sense of duty and so as the group climbed into the Tir Tochair Mountains, heading for a rumored fortress that could house them, Iwan gathered all of the witchers who doubted Ivar’s plan and split from the Vipers.

And just when I thought I’d seen everything...
YES I see that this is an &-tag, still! Ivar is only MENTIONED in Witcher 3. He’s not in the books, as far as I know – please correct me if I’m wrong –because the books don’t mention the Viper school. Also he’s a Gwent card. You sure are creative, folks.

Imaginary fic title: Endless Sea (preferably for Encanto or Witcher)
Love you, Bee ♥︎
Awww, love you too! And how can this be anything but Ivar/Keldar?? Let’s throw in some classic fairy tale elements, like the little mermaid, and we’re good to go.
Ivar has been oh so careful, but he’s caught in a net during one of his patrols. Warritt, the hypocrite, always said his curiosity would be his downfall, but Ivar always just shrugged it off.
He can’t shrug the net off though, not without considerable damage being done to his tail, where hooks sunk into the meat and the delicate part of his fins. Humiliating is one word for the situation. Scary would be another, if an understatement. He manages to get to shore, undignified and in pain. He fully expects to die there.
That expectation triples when he wakes up thirsty, famished, with a pair of yellow eyes watching him. A witcher, if the sirens are correct - they usually are, the pests, hunting humans like game -, and that can only mean one thing. Ivar bears sharp rows of teeth. The witcher, calm and collected, and cool as a sea cucumber, pulls out a feather and a book, and starts to sketch. When they're finished, they show the result: a perfectly drawn realistic picture of Ivar, with notations by the side. The witcher flips the page and Ivar grunts in surprise. He recognizes the tongue of vodyanoi, fishpeople, worshippers of Dagon, though he himself doesn’t speak it fluently. It takes a moment to decipher the writing (Dool Bool tohl grool?), but when he does, he ends up rolling his eyes. Yes, he speaks Common. And the witcher smiles, shuts the book and says, “I’m here to help.”

Ok but the things that’s sad is that the original Witchers and the breaking into different factions and the moral dilemmas that caused that are like. Really interesting. And we’re not gonna get that. Instead we have this.

Never In A Thousand Years
Tumblr media
Summary: Camille, younger sister to princess Gisla of France, you thought you would have time to choose a suitor but once your sister is married to the wild Viking Rollo, your father wishes to speed up the process and Rollo comes up with an idea that could possibly join the two kingdoms...
This will have more than one chapter I don't know how many yet I will probably come up with that as I go but expect more than five so far. This will also contain smut but in a few chapters so be patient. 😉
Warnings: violence, language, arranged marriage.
Chapter 1
I was not opposed to marrying a Viking, though Rollo had set my standards high by converting his religion, and dedicating his life to Paris. I knew I would struggle to find a man as good as he turned out to be, but I did not know I would have to marry such a vile man.
The conversation arose one month ago during dinner, everything was normal, Gisla was smitten and father was proud of his judgement, he must have thought himself to be a matchmaker of some sort when he came up with this brilliant sentence; "Gisla, as a woman I'm sure you have needs."
I could have spat my wine in his face to such a statement, how dare he say that, I was doing well on my own thank you. I would then go on to say, "Why do you ask father?" (I am much better at keeping my temper than Gisla.)
"Well, you are near twenty and have not had as much as one suitor that you are interested in," he started and I quirked a brow, insisting he go on. "don't you want a husband?"
"Father," Gisla interrupted and gave me a shocked look. He put his hands up in defense, "I just want my last heir to be happy." I scoffed, "And I assure you I am." I put down my fork and stood up. "Now if you'll excuse me-"
"You are not excused, please sit down." Father said, my mouth hung open and I stood there for a moment, before slowly lowering myself onto the hard wooden chair.
"Forgive me, if this suggestion is wrong but, what if Camille, were to marry one of my nephews?" Rollo questioned from his high horse, who on earth do these men think they are? My father raised his eyebrows and nodded his head.
"That is not an awful idea Rollo." He says and taps his chin, "of course you remember Hvitserk, Camille." The third born child of Ragnar Lothbrok. "He came to request Aid from Rollo-"
"Yes, I remember him." I said through gritted teeth, the boy was just as stubborn as a mule and flirtatious, he acted like a child when he reaches maturity and sees his first woman.
"No, my king, he would not be a good suit for Camille." Rollo said and shook his head. My father turned his head in curiosity, "Then who, pray tell, would be?" Rollo smirked, twirling his fork in his fingers and glancing up at me. "Ivar."
My eyes widened and I shot Rollo a fierce look, "Never, that man is pure evil!" I shouted, father silenced me and took Rollo's suggestion into great consideration. No more than a week later Ivar showed up at the gates.
How he got here so quickly I have no idea, but he stayed for longer. Him and his chosen men occupied the great hall with boisterous dinners and rambunctious games, he had yet won me over, to say the least.
A couple times he had shown up at my chamber step, requesting entrance so we could talk and he could get to know me better, but I had denied many times, all but one.
It was a month before today, our wedding day. He came walking to my room, no crutch, only with the help of his braces which impressed me. He said the same thing as always.
"Hello Camille," he'd give me a longing look, "I was hoping you would let me in tonight." His french was getting very good, I hesitated for a moment and looked him up and down, pulling my robe closer and nodding my head.
"You may come in, Ivar." I said politely and he stepped in as I turned and walked to my balcony. His eyes wandered over my room, my bed, and then slowly up me.
He followed me to the balcony, leaning in the doorway as I rested my hands on the railing, I felt his eyes on me. I will my cheeks to keep their normal color, but his glowing blue eyes make it hard for me to not blush and I look at him angrily.
"What do you want Viking." I pestered and his eyes widened, "I only wanted you to know how beautiful you are," he stated and his lips kept slightly parted. I rolled my eyes, straightening my back and fixing my gaze at the town below us.
"I think you are even more beautiful than Freya." He added, I did not know a lot about the Norsemen's beliefs but I believe Freya was important when it came to how he compared me to her.
"Your words do not fool me." I replied blankly and narrowed my eyes at the moon. He stared confusedly at me for a moment, blinking and trying to piece together the foreign words I had used.
He shook his head, slightly jumping on his braces as he adjusted his stance and hummed for a moment. He lifted a hand and waved a finger, "I only know so much of your language,"
My face contorted in confusion this time and I turned to look at him, "And I will try my hardest to be a good husband to you." He shuffled closer, hesitantly placing a shaky but firm hand on top of mine.
"When we are wed, I will never force anything on you." His face was certain and I could tell he was being truthful, my expression softened my lips tightened together in a sort of awkward smile as I nodded my head.
I took him to my desk, pulling out parchment and pencils. I taught him many words and phrases, and he in return did the same. I learned a chant that many shield maidens call out before wars, and I learned of his triumph against a town called York.
I was impressed to learn that my future husbands victories were earned with his smarts and not his savageness. Eventually the conversation lingered to his legs, he quieted as he spoke and he knocked on the metal braces.
His face would twitch in pain at moments he adjusted to be able to sit more comfortably, my eyebrows twisted in worry as I watched him struggle and I interrupted his sentence.
"Is there a way I might help you? Or ease the pain?" My hand found its way onto his and his head snapped up from the desk, a shocked look as he swallowed, glancing at the braces and then nodding.
"it will only extend my time being here," he said, almost expecting me to immediately change my mind but I persisted and finally got him to seat himself on my bed.
He leaned on the back board and extended one leg, "Please, be careful." He said as he guided my hands onto several latches and knobs that I had to pry and twist.
I finished the first leg and he grunted in pain as it pinched his leg as it opened, I quickly moved the metal aside so his legs could rest comfortably and I finished with the left leg suit.
He leaned forward, rubbing his hands gently over his thighs and calves over his rough pants. I hovered my hands over the other leg, waiting for approval and then putting my hands to work.
I sat next to his legs, my legs folded together modestly in my robe so my slip would not show. After a few minutes he stopped, and I followed. He leaned his head on the back board, sighing and flicking his eyes towards me.
I smiled at him, his lips curling back at me in a sort of childlike smile. We sat there staring at each other for a moment, his hands fidgeting with his straps on his clothes and before I knew it his hands were on my neck.
Not in a demanding, grabby way, in a soft and wanting manner and his lips pressed mine as I leaned in. His nose brushed against mine I smiled against his lips, wrapping my arms around his neck as his fell to my waist and he laid me down on my back, laying on top of me and not breaking our kiss.
His hands now traveled up my clothed sides, gripping at the soft material as though he wished it to be my flesh. He bit down on my lip, causing me to grunt and part my lips, allowing his tongue to be pushed inside to explore my mouth.
I tugged at his leather straps over his chest, it puzzled me why Vikings wore such tough material all the time. I kissed him back hungrily, holding my eyes shut as I sunk into the bed with his weight on top of me, it was a comforting and incredibly intimate feeling.
Feeling a man's body holding mine down like a weighted blanket, so much warmth being shared between our bodies that I reached for the tie of my robe, tugging it apart and revealing my thin night gown to air to cool me off.
He seemed to notice the absence of my hands as his face parted from mine and his eyes wandered down my body, the low cut neck and silk material hugged my body like a glove that he seemed to appreciate very much.
He bit his lip, gazing over my body and then pinching his eyes shut, pressing his body against mine again and interlocking our lips. One of his hands now gripped my side, rubbing over the silk and then adjusting his kisses to my jaw and my neck.
I tangled my fingers in his braids, tugging them as he sucked at the flesh of my neck feverishly and harshly. "Ivar..." I moaned and my back arched into him, suddenly so content in the feeling of his warmth on me, I jolted when he rolled over so abruptly.
I sat up quickly, watching as he crawled to his braces on the floor, an angry look on his face as he laid his leg on top. I quickly sat next to him, "let me help-" I tried but was met with his hand on my chest, pushing me away and a firm no shot from his lips.
I stared for a second in shock, waiting for a look or an apology but when he kept his eyes trained on his legs I stood, tying my robe again and sitting on my bed against the back board with my legs tucked to my chest.
I sat there and watched as he snapped the braces onto his legs, it hurt me to see him in so much pain as he rushed it but I knew if I tried to help him again he would push me away.
He hauled himself to his feet and strode out of my room, leaving me sniveling and tucking under my covers, trying to forget the new found bad memory.
That was last night, and today, on top of those frustrating feelings, I was supposed to leave my home forever.

I am LOVING the Ivar/Keldar fics. I never thought I'd think of *Ivar Evil-Eye* as adorable, but I am loving their dynamic. Are they an item in AWAU as well? 👀
You know, I don't know. If they are, they're keeping it quiet. I'm glad you like my fics for them!

Summary: After your Lokis death and have moved on and joined the Avengers. After the aftermath of Endgame you and the other remaining Avengers all seek shelter in the new Avengers Warehouse Pepper Potts bought as a temporary replacement while the Avengers mansion is being renovated. What happened after a very tired mission. Well, you're speechless, to say the least.
a/n: I added a few more chapters because you know dreams lmao so enjoy this one !! Tell me if yall want smut soon. CuZ ye im feeling a smut scene some time soon.
You walked around the Avengers warehouse and got to the medic bay. The push the doors open, "How are her vitals."
"Well for one thin they don't make any sense."
"Ive been trying to heal her but, I can't get a signature on the dark magic... I need your magic to track it." Wanda says as her hands float above the blonde girl.
"She really does look like Loki its scary.... Like put a blonde wig make her shorter and put some eyelashes boom you got blondie here."
You rolled your eyes as your eyes traveled towards Ivars dark matter dagger. A strong dark force gutted your stomach, you could feel the evil from a mile away. You saw the veins around the stab wound as they turned black and spreaded around her stomach.
The only thing that could kill an Asgardian God. With its rusted blade and messily bandanged handle. Just as the myths say, the dagger was made for Odin the allfather but Ivar and his dagger were defetead and casted away before he could use it on him.
You closed your eyes and took a deep breathe to cast a simple healing spell.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Alright, enchantments are more than just casting especially when your doing a healing spell." Loki circled around you. You closed your book as you groaned, bored of slow paced lessons set by the prince.
"A healing spell I think we can do something more challenging than that Loki."
Loki stopped in his steps as he brought out his dagger and striked your leg.
"LOKI... AARGH.... YOU MISBIGOTTEN SON OF A LEPPERS GOAT. YOU DAFT ARSE" YOU SCREAMED AT HIM. He chuckled and tipped your chin to look at him with the bloodied dagger.
"Careful, if we go on legal terms thats treason against the prince and queen..." He grinned. "On more serious terms you need to learn how to cast the spell on yourself, this way casting it on others will come naturally."
You tried to hold the cut on your thigh, blood was seeping out continously as you winced when you tried to move your leg. "How am I to focus when im bleeding to death." the words gritting through your teeth.
"Close your eyes and breathe..." Loki sat behind you whispering to your ear. He placed his hands on yours and led them to your wound. "The spell only works when your calm." You took a deep breath and out as your shaky hand lay above your wound. "Feel the energy from your body, allow it to flow through your to your hands down to your wound."
You did as he said. Your enchantments extended to the wound as the blood started to lessen but the wound didn't close. "Now the difficult part. Closing the wound, you can't just imagine it to close, you know the spell."
You said aloud through your teeth holding in your pain. "Rense helbrede såret." Nothing happened, the blood lessen but the wound was still wide open. You were confused and irritated to say the least.
Loki nudged his nose towards the crook of your neck, sending shivers down your spine. "A spells power is through its whisper, to be a true master you must not only say it but think it."
Relaxing your hands as Loki slithered his to your shoulders, you casted in a whisper focusing on the spell imagining the wound closing and the energy flowing towards your wound. "Rense helbrede såret." your eyes glew orange as your enchantment casted on your leg closed the wound slowly from one end to the other. The stinging pain you felt a few seconds ago was gone. There was no mark no scar where there was once blood and torn muscle. You laughed aloud and jumped up from your seat cheering.
"I- I did it no way, I just casted a healing spell on my first try... Loki you are magnificent." You turned to the man who raised an eye brow. The unimpressed look which gutted you stomach and stopped yur cheering as you felt shameful.
"Are you proud of such a small spell I mastered long before I was 16 years old." You blushed in shame as you brough your head down. Looking away from him, you could still feel him walk closer to you. "Charms are not something you can play aroudn on the side either you take it seriously and master it or I never teach you again. Do you wish to be great or nothing...."
He was now merely inches from your as he pinched your chin and brought him to look towards him, "So tell me little girl..." At this point you could feel your heart about to jump out your heart at any moment.
"Great or nothing." he whispered
"Great..." you mumbled.
"Perfect." he leaned down as he placed your lips on yours.
--------------------------------------
"Perfect-
You snap back to reality.
"Perfect, I have the signature of the spell.... You can take the spear out whenever your ready Y/N..." Wanda smiled.
You blanked out as you saw the wound still corrupted but not as bloodied as it was before.
"Careful, won't asgardians burn or disintegrate when you touch the handle or something." Peter stopped your hand.
"It is merely a myth Peter." You held his. "It'll sting slightly but I'll be fine."
"Wow even asgardians have myths. It's like inception a myth in a myth." Ant man said chewing on his chips in the corner of the med bay on a spare bed.
You hold the dagger and it burned your hand the moment you wrapped your hand around it. You winced and pulled back your hand and shook off the heat. Everyone had their eyes on you as you tried again. You wrapped your fingers around the handle, the burning sensation started as you focused on absorbing the heat but it didn't work.
"Teya, your hand it's turning the same colour as the wound." Sam pointed out
Your hand was corrupted. You casted a healing spell on your hand as you held the dagger handle tighter ignoring the warnings from your teamates.
Only one of asgardian strength can pull out the dagger. But anyone who lays in the hand on the dagger, will meet death.
It was a phrase, a warning actually, you remembered like the back of your hand from your favourite tale.
You pulled the dagger out with some force as the wound on the body closed. You dropped the dagger on the ground as you did too.
You were on your knees as your hand turned black and you wrapped your other hand on it trying to heal it. The room felt like it was a million degrees as you felt the darkness travel through your veins.
"Y/N whats going on..." Sam said kneeling down beside you. "FRIDAY RADIO STRANGE FOR AN SOS."
"Yelena, get Thor, Parker make sure Barnes does not know about this make sure they stay with Loki."
"Don't tell James." You whispered to Sam
"Not a chance princess."
"Wanda hows the wound." You looked up in pain.
"Closing in. But old Asgardian magic is complicated, I need time to find a way for it to not spread."
"Sam, I'm fine." you groaned through the pain still trying to cast the healing spell on your arm.
"Ya say that to your black hand. And..... woah." Sam started to let your hand go when your hand to elbow was turning black
"I'm here..." Stephen walked through a portal.
"Her eyes." Sam said concerened as there was no white left in your eyes just pitch black.
You forced yourself to stand up. Your shaking right hand corrupted as you projected your powers towards the dagger on the ground. Focusing the dark energy to leave your body. You groaned as you saw Stephen observe the situation and walk towards your arm.
"Keep focusing project any corrupted magic into the dagger."
Strange got to position and casted a cleansing spell on you. Helping to slip the dark energy off you. You felt your powers slipping away from you as the dark matter did.
When you felt no more corrupted magic you stopped as there was no more magic to give. Your knees felt weak and you tried to walk towards the closest bed but crumble and fell like a new born baby giraffe.
"I got you gurl." Sam caught you before you hit the ground.
"That was very stupid of you..." Strange said as he walked towards the sword glowing red and black. He formed a shield around it as it levitated towards you. "Here this won't get your hand burnt."
"Y/N, your hand. It.... it, that looks like a raisin." Thor winced.
"Thank you Thor, for that obvious comment." your groaned standing up, carrying the bubble with the dagger with your undwounded hand you walked towards the blonde girl. Who seemed to be breathing better as her vitals improved. You took a deep breathe to feel her aura and her health. Which was improving slowly, slower than it must, you looked up towards the body 2 beds down. "Strange what can be evaluated of this mans vitals..."
Strange walked over to the white haired man and hovered over him. Levitating his file to his hands and read through it. "This man is, hm...."
"Check the jacket , TVA ever heard of anything like it." Sam said tossing the jacket towards Strange. Strange looked at the jacket spread wide open hovering infront of him. "Yes the TVA, yes...... I- I actually never heard of them is this made up?"
"Well there goes our backup." Sam groaned plopping himself back on the bed.
"Well there isn't anything we can do. I'll take the dagger back to my room and we'll recon with Loki tomorow... Everyone eat, the food is here get some sleep, meet up first thing tomorow morning 7 am." You said walking out the medbay. "Friday keep an eye on our guest... update us if anything."
"Yes boss." the loud speaker said before the doors closed.
"A bit random but shes can be very attractive when she gets all demanding and stern." Yelena smirked.
----------------------------------------------------
You placed the sphere down on your tv table plopping down on your bed. You winced as your injured hand grazed against the sheets, clenching it with your other hand forcing down another healing spell, nothing, the redness seemed to fade away for a moment but it still looked bad.
There came a sudden knock on the door. "Y/N??" "Go away strange..."
"Actually." Thor opened the door and gave you a sympathetic smile.
"Thor... Hows-
"Your hand, does it hurt- is it corrupted- how are you do you feel well?" Thor rushed over to your side and sat down on your bed. "Let me see maybe I can be of an assistance.'
"If I remembered correctly you failed enchantment and healing lessons set by your own mother." you pulled your hand away.
"I have improved..." Thor said crossing his arms.
"Of course you have." You stood up and walked to your closet to change into something more comfortable.
"I'm sorry..."
"What?"
"I can't go through this again."
"No one is forcing you to be on this assingment. You may return to new asgard and take a break."
"You should be as well."
"Thor the team needs atleast 1 person who knows Loki."
"What if they didn't." Thor said plainly. You turned towards him confused, but you knew where he was getting to. " What if but for one moment we were selfish , what if we were not heroes, mere asgardians who simply needs to be born, live, then die."
"Thor-."
"You were right..." Thor sobbed, tears forming around his eyes. "It's just like Ragnarok all over again." He stared at the ground.
You walk towards Thor and lifted his chin up. "What can I say to the brother who has been my strength for centuries ..." You sighed "I know with Asgard gone, our duties blur with the destinies we thought we could have lived. For once... I really have nothing to say."
"He looks so much like him." Thor laid his head against your stomach. "I couldn't bear myself to get to know him."
You sighed and stroked his hair back. "You need not talk to him unless absolutely necesarry."
"Falling inlove with him... Loving my brother seems to be the one thing I cannot prevent myself from doing." Thor choked out. "Even though I know the outcome I can't help a part of myself to hope."
"Lets eat... you always feel better after we eat. We shouldn't think about this right now." You brought Thor up. As he leaned forward and embraced you.
"I miss him."
"Me too."
"It's been hard..."
"I know." You sniffled as you stopped the moment and stared out your window. You looked up to him. "Shall we join the others for dinner? "
"We shall." he smiled down as you placed a soft kiss on his cheek.

i'll forever find it funny how Ivar Evil-Eye started the entire viper school because of the spam emails about wild hunt he's been getting directly into his frontal lobe, but never lived to see Letho, Serrit and Auckes unknowingly fulfill his desire to fight the hunt. What more, Letho does it again just few years later. You could say that for a brief moment, the viper school went full circle, mayhaps even a circle represented by a snake biting its tail...
gwent lorekeeper had a moment of brightness with that one is what i'm saying
