q!Phil will never accept q!Forever's love as it is now (and that's good for many reasons)

so, like, I totally understand why people are upset with Philza's rejection. Especially with how he kept repeating it over and over to Forever. A beating the dead horse kinda situation, it seems, yeah? Unforunately, this has to happen, with how Forever is acting.

He had made this very clear with BadBoyhalo the other day. When Bad asked "You don't like Philza for Philza?". Forever says "No, I never have."

Never, he said. Even if he might be lying a bit (like maybe he's saying this to ease BBH's feelings), for him to say that is... ouch.

And no, Phil wasn't there for that moment, but Phil seems to be aware of this, regardless. And Forever's heart is set on Brunim, not Philza. The references, the requests to imitate Brunim, et cetra. Right from the start, Forever only pursued Philza because of Brunim (that, and he gave him things, but that's still a plastic reason to have affection toward someone).

And Phil knows not to enable that. Imagining looking at someone, and realizing that they see someone else in your eyes. Imagine having moments that are probably genuine, but you can never be quite sure if you're both sharing a moment, because he's probably pretending he's sitting by someone else as the sun sets. That seems like such a shitty feeling, no wonder Philza keeps pushing him away.

Yes, he complimented Philza during the wedding, complimented stuff about Philza specifically (like his laugh), but that doesn't take away the feeling that you're basically just leftovers. Like "is he really saying this about me? or is he saying this so he can pretend I'm him when he has the chance?" Feeling like a replacement creates so much uncertainty, even if Forever acts genuine toward him.

And here's the thing: if Forever stopped obsessing over Brunim, if he accepted Philza fully as his own person, if he were to seek out Philza for Philza, Philza might give him a chance.

I don't know how likely in canon this is, tbh, because Philza, the content creator, has never really done gay rp, and it's clear he's a bit awkward and hesitant about it. Like, at most he'd probably just "give Forever a chance" by doing the whole flirting bit a la Fit. However, there's still some things that make me think that this idea isn't impossible.

For example, even when he rejects him, Phil emphasizes that he cares about Forever as a person; there's a connection there. Most of all, he keeps telling him it's because Forever is only thinking about someone else.

Look at any clip where he's pushing against Forever's advancements. That is pretty much the only thing he ever mentions when rejecting him. That's the huge obstacle here. It's about being projecting onto, and not feeling like you're valued for being you. If Forever were to treat him like his own person entirely, maybe they can have something.

(That, and I believe that q!Phil likes the attention Forever gives him, but this one I also can't be certain as to whether Philza intends it. It doesn't even in a romantic way, just, hey, he likes having someone to flirt around with cause it's fun. Because, like... Philza, why did you take a picture of Forever and then place your hand over your heart right after during Festa Junina? Motherfucker you literally let Forever (and others, granted) sit in your lap while saying "yeah this works" during Tallulah's birthday. You chased after him during the wedding to further rub in the "I'm not him" rejection.)

I'm... I'm just saying.

But overall, I really don't think this 'ship' is dead like others might. If anything I feel like this dynamic might be going in the direction it needs to develop and thrive. Like maybe we'll reach the point of "I like you for you. This is genuine. This is real. Let's have a healthy, balanced relationship." There's just no way they can get there until Brunim isn't a lingering presence.

now for the strategy exercise

I think phil choose that exercise on purpose, believing it could show well the benefits of tommy being a blank slate (just as this phrase isnt getting out of wilburs head, youre not getting away from the unintentional lyric reference)

also the solution tommy gives is pretty simple, it kinda shows how niki and q both tried to go the way they are most familiar with, showing off a bit their capabilities, thinking about more tricky stuff like the psyche of the people, with niki especially

the exercise is about coming up with a super complicated strategy, its more about finding out what APPROACH they would take to this situation

and like I understand the problem with nikis solution but tbf to niki, she came up with a much better solution to the presented problem when you focus just at the result, unlike tommys plan hers was thought thru and didnt have that many loopholes, it just didnt fit phils expectations, like when this happens to me in an exam, im also arguing with the teacher that the fact that it wasnt their answer doesnt mean my answer isnt correct

now im bit saying I think thats the best way to rule a kingdom BUT niki is very rightfully angry about phil praising tommy

and honestly I just think good for niki yk, like yes, go get that power, whatever it takes

I love her standing up against phil but than being scared she messed up, there are so many layers to her it's amazing

you always treat your female characters right and rose!niki is prime example of that, she is everything I adore her so much and I support her rights and her wrongs

and when it comes to q, hes the one that confuses me bc he seems so easy to read and very certain about being chosen as the heir which is very dangerous in court and foolish and first look youd think hes just not good at hiding his opinions which could tie into him being a less likely heir

but like hes been at the court for quite some time and must know how much of a disadvantage being readable is so maybe hes playing is double layered, pretending to be easy to read while actually hiding the important stuff, I mean wilbur calls him really smart and witty

or theres a secret third option where its only wilbur whos able to read him so well and we wouldnt know bc its from wilburs pov but the way its described, compared to how wilbur reading niki is described this is unlikely id say

and the worst is that with the kind of character quackity is he could be either, like he turns out to be super smart and calculative ill be like thats so like him but if he turns out to be actually just that egoistic and easy to be ill be like yeah thats exactly like the train wreck of a man I know and love

I mean quackity knows his strengths and how to play on them, knows it wont be easy getting the throne and so he does stuff like partnering with schlatt, calling the meeting...

but with the strategy exercise it shows that hes putting everything on his strong suits and thats not always gonna be enough

oh yeah phil definitely chose the exercise for a reason. tbh it was a test for all three of them, less to learn their war strategy and more to learn how well they take guidance and criticism. definitely highlights the benefits of tommy being a blank slate.

and that ties into the issue with niki. while her plan had some issues, it was the most realistic of the three. the problem was her reaction to phil's criticism. she had a right to argue with phil regarding the success of her strategy, but that's not what phil wanted.

I'm glad you're enjoying rose!niki so far. like yes, she stood up to phil and was stubborn and angry and ruthless, but she was also scared. she was worried she messed up and regretted speaking out because she deals with so much pressure to always maintain a certain public persona and reputation, because her future is so reliant on it. I'm so happy I get to spend so much time focusing on niki in a long fic like this. rose!niki is so complicated and has so much going on with her, I'm really excited to continue diving into her character.

hmm won't go into detail to what's going on with q, but I'd say there's a mix of things going on from what you said. wilbur's pov definitely plays a role in how well we're able to read him, but also he is very aware of the games being played and knows how to adjust his behavior accordingly.

Dream • Prison Arc

At first he really took it for granted, your kindness and acceptance, the way you care and your tendency to stay beside him no matter the circumstance

Now that he’s locked in an obsidian cage, buried behind lava, he recognizes that

You, at the very least, visit him once a week, but it’s typically three or four times

Sam has gotten quite suspicious of you visiting him so often, labeling you a ‘high risk visitor’ but that still didn’t stop you, you weren’t trying to break Dream out, you were just doing your best at reminding him of who he was before all of this war stuff and that at least one person still loved him

He’d honestly hadn’t realized how touch starved he was really was for positive contact, so when you do something as simple as brush your hand on his arm, he gets goosebumps and melts into the fleeting sensation

Writes you things when you’re away since it’s really one of the only things he can do for you (gets quite frustrated when you can’t take them with you)

On a side note, he’s aware of what people say about you and how they think of you, the sympathizer of the villain, he hates the way your name is dragged through the mud because of him

Ghostbur

If we're being honest here, he thrives off of it all

The way you ask about his day and let him ramble on about his activities and the books he’s collected (him memory journal included)

The way you hold onto his tall, cold frame, pulling him close to your, by comparison, warm body

And most of all, he loves the way you pretend like he’s never been Wilbur, letting him disconnect himself from the man who blew up L’manburg, along with a positive piece of so many people

It’s all very cathartic, he barely needs any blue whenever you're around!

Truthfully, he hates being away from you because you’re so sweet, so he comes of as insanely clingy (or, I mean, is insanely clingy)

Has kind of moved into your house on accident, but you're probably chill about that, yeah?

Generally, though, he finds it endearing that you care about everyone

He also knows that if he ever needs somebody to watch or take care of friend for him, you're always one of the safer bets

Philza

Very happy!

Mainly because he’s just glad that there’s someone else who’s an adult adult, mature enough to look after other people and make sure they’re safe

He finds it exhausting to do it all by himself, so he’s incredibly thankful that you’re able to help

This old man here can actually quite reckless sometimes too, though, but mainly when it comes to flying

Sometimes he’ll race through treacherous ravines, dodging skeletons’ arrows, nearly skimming the surface of the bubbling magma, embers jumping up and touching his clothes and skin

Other times he’ll soar through the great, open winter air around the area where he lives, catching snowflakes on his dark grey wings, sometimes getting too caught up in the freezing winds and flying into an unexpected tree branch or cliff peak that was concealed by dense clouds (probably has broken a few ribs like that tbh)

It doesn’t happen too often, but when it does, he’ll walk in sheepishly, and through labored breathing, explain what happened

Appreciates when you take care of him and will absolutely make it up to you

Technoblade

Your want to care and protect nearly everyone you know is so foreign to him

The way you’re insistent on bandaging him up regardless of the injury, whether it be a small scrape from hitting his hip on a desk corner or a giant gash from an axe is a level of caring that he’s never even given to himself, so someone giving that to him is such a new concept

He has mixed feelings about it all, honestly

On one hand, it’s wonderful to feel cared for

The way you hold his shaking, blood covered hands during an adrenaline drop after a particularly intense fight is one of the most gentle, warm things he’s ever experienced

On the other hand, though, it stresses him out

The voices swirling in his head nearly always bark demands and it seems like he’ll never be able to stop them unless he sheds blood, which means you’re far too good for him

Sometimes, though when the voices die down and all he can hear is your soft breathing and the wind pounding the shutters against the house, he allows himself to be loved and cared for

He feels normal during these times so he, quietly, cherishes them

Dsmp Hogwarts AU, except it’s all the characters and I go into why they are what they are, please reblog this took a long ass time

Man, what a title Huh? Anyways, this will obviously go over the characters and not the content creators, because in some cases those are vastly different

Also, before we start, I will go over an important thing that I will mention probably a few times, and that is the difference between Hufflepuff Loyalty and Slytherin Loyalty.

Both of these houses value loyalty, but in very different ways. Take for example that you’re a spy who has their best friend as their partner, and you’re out on some super important mission. Let’s also say that your partner got shot and is close to death, and the only way to save them would be to abandon the mission entirely.

A Hufflepuff would try to complete the mission because it would be the best for all, while the Slytherin would abandon the mission despite the fact that it could result in countless deaths, just to save their friend.

See it as Selfish Loyalty vs Selfless loyalty. Both are great things to have, but are still different.

Anyways, on with the show

Tomathy Danger Kraken Careful Innit

I have seen people try to argue that this boy is a Hufflepuff because of his loyalty and such, but gosh darnit everyone this child is a god damn Gryffindor. I mean, one of his main character traits is that he’s brash and too brave for his own good. The reason he got fucking exiled is because he burned down George’s house without thinking of the consequences, and then just screamed at Dream without thinking of the consequences. The same goes for Ghostbur’s “death”, it was because he had no real plan except Stab Dream with an axe. So yeah, Gryffindor

Wilbur Soot

Slytherin, 100%. This man has created one and a half nation, one entirely out of spite, he was both a general and a president, he’s a smart lil fella, and he managed to hold his own against the god of the server. I don’t even thing you guys wanna argue with me here

Tuberculosis Underscore

This one is tricky, because it’s really between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw for me. Like, he does possess the Hufflepuff loyalty™ plus he is very kind, but he’s also one of the more logical and observant characters we have in this server (The bar is very low let me tell ya). But I think I will have to go with Ravenclaw, just because like, the boy invented nukes. He built fucking nukes. So yeah, a very chaotic Ravenclaw that will spout bee facts at you, be prepared

Technoblade

My man is a Ravenclaw, no doubt about it. I mean, he started talking about an old greek myth in the middle of a war? Just Ravenclaw things amiright?

Philza Minecraft

I will have to go with Slytherin on this one, simply because of the large amount of Slytherin Loyalty, but also because of his cunningness and resourcefulness, but for real this was very tricky, simply because I don’t like to think about c!Phil too much because as some of you may know, I kinda hate him (Not the cc though, obvs, he’s awesome)

Ranboo My Beloved

Hufflepuff. This boy’s ideology is literally “Choose people, not sides”, he’s an honest and compassionate boy who works hard, and has a very open mind. He’s literally the by the book Hufflepuff

Eret

Honestly, Slytherin. I mean, they are ambitious as fuck, both shown by them betraying L’Manburg for the throne, but also by working hard towards their redemption arc. They are also a good leader of the smp, and in general a great role model to have

Nikki Nihachu

This one is actually difficult, simply because Nikki has gone through quite the character arc the past couple of months. She started out kind, sweet and loyal, a classic Hufflepuff. Then she joined the syndicate and straight up tried to kill a child, which is less Hufflepuff but who am I to judge. But in her core, as seen through her discussion with Jack about Tommy’s revival, she is still a good person that works hard for what she believes in, wants the best for everyone (Despite sometimes working in her best self interest) remains kind through it all. So yeah, Nikki is a Hufflepuff, just a bit of a sadistic one. But we can’t all be perfect ya know?

Fun Jonathan Michael Vincent Georgina James Sus Dy Soot

Ah, my favorite character, and also one of the best examples of a Ravenclaw. And I ain’t saying that just cuz I’m a Ravenclaw, Fundy is one of the most Ravenclaw characters out there. He’s creative, Clever, Spontaneous, Witty, Curious, Sharp, and a real trickster. The idea of Ravenclaws being the goody two shoes kids that always does their school work is just false, we never do our Homework and instead sit and read about things we find interesting, and Fundy is a good example of that. Also he was quite the eager learner during the Dreamon Hunters arc, which again is a good example of a Ravenclaw. So if Ranboo is the by the book Hufflepuff, then Fundy is the by the book Ravenclaw.

Dreamwastaken

I’m pretty sure it’s confirmed that Dream is actually a Slytherin, and I ain’t arguing with that. This boy is cunning, sly, a leader, traditional, Self-Preserving, and a master with words. There is not much more to say here, apart from the fact that Slytherins main colour is literally green, so it all checks out, this boy is a snake.

George Lore

Mr not found over here really is hard to pinpoint down, simply because his main character trait is his apathy, which isn’t really a trait for any of the houses. I was discussing this one with my girlfriend, and both of us were pretty clueless of what to do with him. I was thinking if Hufflepuff since they take the ones that don’t fit anywhere else, but then I was reminded of the most recent Dream XD stream, which showed us one thing, and that is that George is clever, observant, and Sharp Minded, all the traits of a Ravenclaw. Sure, he could also be Slytherin as he was both cunning and sly as well, but I think Ravenclaw fits him more personally.

Sappitus Nappitus Boyhalo

Finally we have another Gryffindor, there’s been a serious lack of them on the list. My man is a fighter, he’s bold, he’s brave, he’s passionate, he’s confident, and he doesn’t really think that much of the consequences of his actions (Cough the pet war cough), so yeah this boy a lion.

Punz

Ah, Punzie, the mercenary themself. Tbh, I know very little about them because Punz don’t get involved that much in lore unless they are hired for something. I mean, they were in the eggpire, but even then they were barely involved, which is sad cuz I like Punz. But what we have seen of Punz is that they are someone who does not care about you or what you want, as long as you pay them. They are power hungry and self preserving, which means that I have to put them in Slytherin.

Jack Thunder1408 TV Manifold

The boy who I can’t help but be sympathetic towards. Jack is also a hard character to pin point because of the reason that he’s gone through quite the development. Jackie boy is a very broken character that has literally been through hell, so it’s hard to properly sort him. He’s quite confident and clever, yet cunning and resourceful, so for me it’s either Slytherin or Gryffindor. But I do lean towards Gryffindor more, partly because of his stubbornness and gullibility, and part because of all the fire imagery that’s associated with him. I mean, the cc described him as burning inside, he’s been through the scape of fire and death, and he burnt his nation to the ground. In case you didn’t know, Fire is the element of Gryffindor, so yeah, another red and gold boy.

JSchlatt

Schlatt is as both charming, charismatic and calm in the early days, using subtle manipulation tactics to get his way and achieve ultimate power. He’s ambitious, narcissistic, cunning, and tyrannical, while still hiding it all behind a facade of smiles and waves. He could also be both cruel and irresponsible at times, aka the time he had an underage child drink during an event, but ya know, mistakes. So all in all, I think it’s pretty clear that he’s a Snakey boy.

QuackityHQ

As much as I love CC!Quackity, I also fucking hate him because of the many, many different directions he’s taken this character which makes it possible for him to fit in literally any of the houses. The duckie is both Chaotic and lawful, he’s both friendly and hostile, he’s a smart cookie and a fucking dumbass, so like bruh. But, I’m gonna have to go with how he is now, which is manipulative, power hungry, cruel, and strong willed. Aka, another Slytherin.

Karl Jacobs

Finally, a character that is not broken down to the point of barely making out a readable personality. Karl is a kind and funny person, who is very open to new people considering how often he gives tours to visitors and new people, and he is quite literally loosing himself traveling through time in an attempt to help people. Hufflepuff

Awesamdude

This one I know will be controversial, but I’m saying Hufflepuff on him. Sam is one of the best cases of the Hufflepuff loyalty, literally letting both Tommy and Ghostbur be stuck and ultimately die in the prison just so he wouldn’t risk Dream breaking out. Before that point he was very kind and gentle towards Tommy, literally building a robot to keep him safe and take care of him. Sam nook is a reflection of Sam’s feelings towards Tommy, and they are kind and gentle.

Dropsbyponk

Ughhhh, another tough one. Ponk is a chaotic being who is mostly neutral in conflicts, but is shown to be very open about their feelings towards those they care about, like Sam or Foolish. They seem to be have strong feelings in what they believe in, and can be a bit brash sometimes, not really caring about the consequences of their actions, which is what makes me say Gryffindor for them.

Badboyhalo

Our favorite muffin demon. I assume, I don’t know what life you live. Anyways, Bad is like the stereotypical Hufflepuff. The kindhearted, well meaning, sweet, responsible Hufflepuff. The Hufflepuff that’s like in all of those incorrect quotes blogs and “Slytherin and Hufflepuff friendships uwu” posts. But for real, Bad is very Hufflepuff. He does however have Slytherin Loyalty, considering he pretty much sacrificed the entire server for Skeppy, but if you would try to convince me that Bad is a Slytherin I will just laugh at you

Skeppy

It was at this point I realized what I’ve gotten myself into with this post, which you know, not fun. Skeppy is both cocky and filled with energy, with a real ambition to cause chaos. He’s also shown to be willing to sacrifice himself for the person he loves, Bad, when he gave himself up to the egg. I’ve seen some people say Slytherin, but I’m kinda getting Gryffindor from the lad, so yeah, another lion.

Antfrost

Frosty here is a kind hearted person that for the most part seem to be along for the ride. He reminds me a bit of a parent of toddlers, with his patience and serenity towards the more chaotic people on the server, so of course my natural instinct is Hufflepuff. Buuuuut, then there’s again the issue with the egg and the Slytherin loyalty, this time towards his boyfriend Velvet who he was willing to join a cult for (relationship goals) but again, you can’t really say Ant is a Slytherin considering how wrecked he was about what he did while in the eggpire when he was released from it’s grasp. So yeah, Puffle boy

Captain Puffy

Oh captain my captain, you are such a Gryffindor. And some of you may disagree on that, stating that she’s a Hufflepuff or something (I did research before this to check what other people think, I know) but naaah, she a lion. Puffy is very motherly and protective towards other people on the server, especially the minors, but in the way that a Bear is protective towards its cub, which is gentle towards them but fierce towards others. Puffy also falls natural in the role of a leader as seen with Pro-Omelette, but that is kinda expected since she’s a past Pirate Captain. But she wasn’t the leader she was supposed to be, as she waited quite a while to act against the eggpire out of fear of hurting her friends, which lead to quite the damage towards the rest of the server. She’s also been shown to act on impulse, killing Antfrost and taking one of his lives after he killed her son. Idk if this is a good explanation of why I believe Puffy to be a Gryffindor, it sounds more like I’m claiming her to be a Slytherin or Hufflepuff, but she is a Gryffindor I promise!

Foolish Gamers

Foolish is a kind and friendly being, if not a bit naive and easily distracted. He’s also not the brightest person, in fact I’d go as far as to call the guy a Himbo, and he can be a bit skittish sometimes if he’s stressed or haven’t taken a break in a while. But despite it all, the guy is someone who’s creative and hard working, with a brilliant mind for his building. The man is an artist who can get grumpy if you suppress his creative aura, and put his heart and soul into his works. He also has a habit of getting wrapped up in big projects, and ignoring sleep or personal care until he’s finished them. This all leads me to say that Mr Gamers is a Ravenclaw, just not the smartest one. But hey, we can’t all be geniuses, can we.

Slimecicle

Slime is very naive and very trusting towards people around him, taking every word they say as a fact. He can also be a bit dark and ominous at times, but quickly shakes it off as nothing important. This all makes him quite childish, which is very hard to sort, so I’m gonna say Hufflepuff for his friendliness and move on.

Purpled Bedwars

I actually started loving this guy the minute I saw him, purely because Purple is my favorite colour, like my man has taste. Purpled, like Punz, is a guy who helps whoever pays him the most. He’s not interested in most things on the server, too busy looking out for number one (And Dogchamp of course). He’s very self reliant and resourceful, but still quite passive. He may not be the most ambitious guy, but Purpled is definitely a Slytherin (It also brings me and my girlfriend Serotonin knowing that the mercenary siblings are both in the same house, we love those two)

Hannahxxrose

I don’t watch Hannah that much, but god I love her voice, it makes my lesbian little heart happy. Hannah is a friendly person who is very naive about the conflicts on the server, thinking it all can can be solved by placing a rose (God I wish). She’s a good decorator and a good hearted person, who unfortunately fell victim to the egg’s influence. I’m going with Hufflepuff on her, but I’m honestly not entirely sure as I don’t know that much about her.

HBomb94

H is a very well meaning person that only really wants people to be friendly towards each other. He had a strict moral code and he keeps to it, as shown where Fundy tried to get his help with blowing shit up. He’s very helpful to those who ask and is willing to back up his friends when it’s needed, which makes me say that the friendly totally not dirty cat maid is a Hufflepuff.

Connoreatspants

I just want you all to know that I’m writing this before Connor’s lore stream that surely will just go against everything I say because fate hates me, just so ya know. Connor is not a person that does stuff on the server with lore and he for the most part keeps to himself, so this is a bit hard. Connor also has this thing where he likes to say things just to confuse him, and also making a bit of cursed lore, but he’s still a fairly humble person. He does lie and steal a bit, and has this habit of moving into other people’s houses, but I digress. I’m actually leaning towards Ravenclaw on him, for some reason, so that’s what I’m going with until I have more of an established character.

ItsAlyssa

I know she has left the server and stuff, but she was one of the original members so it would be a crime not to include her. Alyssa is a bit chaotic, often going on killing sprees, or burning down the trees outside of L’Manburg. So I’m placing Alyssa in Gryffindor, but to be honest I don’t really know at this point.

Callahan

How do you sort a person who does not speak, stream, or show like anything of his personality? The answer is, you don’t. Hufflepuff is the house of those who don’t fit in anywhere else, and that’s where I’m placing him.

Please log onto the server I’m begging you, I didn’t watch you as a kid and honestly know nothing about you. From what I’ve seen of Vik he’s a very humble person that tries to stay out of it all, instead forming a land together with his bro Lazar. Lazar was actually a big part of the exile arc which I realized after already have written his, so now I gotta rewrite it. Lazar is fairly ambitious on the server, and has the goal to obtain the most powerful objects on the server just to rival the other strong members of the smp. He’s especially against Tommy, and aims to do a lot to be the opposite of him, aka well respected and not a war criminal that got exiled (Totally fair goal). Despite that, he was able to show some empathy to the British child, even going as far as to give him a disk during his exile. This all makes me say Slytherin on him.

Michaelmcchill

Newest boy. Michael is a very apathetic person, showing little to no empathy towards most people’s trauma on the server. The person he does feel empathy for however is Dream, who of course did nothing wrong and is locked up in the prison which is just horrible oh no. Michael just truly does not care about what you’ve been through (as of now) which is why I’m gonna say Slytherin, because he does have Slytherin loyalty towards Mr Was Taken.

Honestly I think it was for the best that minecraft monday ended. The general atmosphere of both the participants and viewers, whether intentional or not, was pretty toxic. It had a lot of potential and forged many anticipated collabs and even friendships (aka phil, techno, wilbur etc) but the toxicity killed the hype. It's pretty much universally agreed that the best week was the last week when the event got cancelled. When the best week is the week when there wasn't even a tournament you (1/?)

don’t apologise anon, i live for this sorta stuff. but imma be real...i’m probably not the most impartial person when it comes to minecraft monday. i have a lot of nostalgia for it, and tbh it remains my all time favourite minecraft event even today. that’s for three main reasons:

1) the timing and the roster. it happened right after minecraft started getting massive again, and was organised by a dude who (while a dickhead) has a lot of contacts. as a result, the MCM roster was a really weird mashup of creators from dozens of different areas, very few of whom actually knew each other. it was sort of like throwing a ton of comedians who have never met before into a room and telling them to hang out together every week. compare that to MCC; at this point, all the creators mostly know each other and have inside jokes. this makes it a lot more companiable, sure, but in MCM we got to watch them all forge their own inside jokes in real time. seeing everyone go from having no idea who Technoblade was to running from him in terror, everyone’s collective hatred of Find The Button, making fun of Keemstar, Bajan and Jerome in second, Chris beating Techno, Dolan and Grandayy vibing in last place...we really got to watch these guys get to know each other, and that was nice.

plus, the teams were always a surprise: nowadays we’re used to weird crossovers in mcyt, but back then seeing Pewdiepie and James Charlie’s play minecraft together was bloody strange af. remember how weird it was when Pokimane was thrown into the Wilbur Tommy Tubbo dynamic? yeah, that was literally every week of MCM.

2) the vibe. one of the biggest issues with MCM was that it had the format of a Very Serious Competition while having a roster mostly made out of comedians. there was a cash prize, professional commentators, and it was expected to be a serious event similar to its brother, Fortnite Friday. you know that metaphor of shoving a bunch of comedians who’ve never met together in a room and telling them to go wild? now add the fact that the room has Very Serious Rules and a Very Serious Goal, but the comedians are more interested in fucking around with each other and making fun of the dude who runs the room than they are in reaching that goal. so when they broke the game? it was unexpected, and felt like we were breaking the rules, and so it was a lot more funny.

for example, Laake was the main mod for MCM, and in the beginning he was Very Serious. he very rarely spoke in chat, and when he did it was for the progression of the game. over time, though, we got to see him be worn down; the competitors just kept pestering him until he started joking around with them, and eventually his additions in chat were some of the best parts of the event. especially when he made fun of Keem, who was this sort of omniscient figure that hung over everyone and represented the serious event that MCM was supposed to be, but all the competitors just laughed at. compare that again to MCC; all the mods are friends with Scott, who’s a legitimately good guy and very willing for the event to be laid back and chill. as a result, when the mods banter in chat we don’t get that feeling of ‘sticking it to the man’, and we don’t feel like the rules are being bent. that part of the fun is taken away. watching MCM sorta felt like watching the class clowns screw up a big school assembly while the teacher looked away, and that was fantastic

3) bro, mcm was scuffed as hell. i ain’t gonna argue with that; it was poorly made and poorly maintained, run by a narcissist who had no idea how to play the game, and there were some really toxic competitors. but this just added to the charm. go back to the room metaphor; now the comedians in the Very Serious Room have found a ton of loopholes in the room’s Very Serious Rules, and are just exploiting them and laughing about it. hundreds of thousands of people are watching the Very Serious Room, but now all the competitors are stuck underground and can’t actually complete the goal, or some of the competitors have escaped the Room and are sitting on a nearby wall, and seeing it fail so colossally is funny because it’s supposed to be so Serious. it’s like when Techno broke bingo and build mart in MCC, or Dre in the iron doors, but it literally happened every week and felt like some sorta taboo

as for the toxicity, that was definitely an issue ethically, but no one actually ever took it too seriously. every week you watched you didn’t know if it would go smoothly or if it would get hacked halfway through and blown to pieces. you didn’t know if the underdogs would pull through and everyone would be happy, or if it would end with Ninja rage quitting, a6d beefing with Keem on twitter, or XQC telling Techno to suck his “wrinkly, hairy, smelly nutsack”? every week was a surprise, and expanded on the lore, and MCC can’t really compare there

you mentioned the fact that the last week is considered one of the best, and I agree, but consider this; if MCC was hacked and a few of the competitors went to hang out in Hypixel, would it be nearly as memorable? no, because all the players already know each other, and we like the organisers too much to laugh at the fact they messed up bad enough to have their server blown up, and having the server blown up doesn’t feel like something so bizarrely stupid. but in MCM? it was bloody iconic.

if there’s a season 2? it won’t have the same charm. i already know that. but still...i’d like to see them give it a go

tldr; i love MCC but it’s too competent to compare. MCM was a shit show and that was the best part of it. we all hate the gnome

c!techno and c!wilbur are literal dream apologists

and c!Phil knows dream abused c!Tommy and claims 'he doesn't forgive him or it' but lessss be real, he doesn't give 2 shits about it

c!sbi is kinda fucked

I mean, I'm pretty sure that c!Phil is very sincere in his dislike of c!Dream, but, if it came down to it and c!Techno allied himself with c!Dream, I have a hard time believing that c!Phil wouldn't put aside his personal feelings and follow him. Also he doesn't really know about the abuse, but he does know that he hurt Tommy so there's that.

In regard to the other 2 it's... complicated.

They both know about the abuse to some extent (c!Techno having seen the effects of it right after and having seen c!Dream trying to manipulate c!Tommy in front of him and c!Wilbur through Ghostbur's memories) but c!Techno decidedly doesn't care and c!Wilbur, while angered by it, considers it less important than his own "admiration" for c!Dream.

There is also the fact that c!Techno continues to ignore the fact that c!Dream committed obvious atrocities and hurt way too many people (even in front of him) in favour of considering him "just some guy" and still gives a f*ck about the "favour". So if anything c!Techno is the one I'm most sure about for who of them would work with c!Dream again.

C!Wilbur is different in this regard because I feel like he has a different image of who c!Dream is from the reality of the situation because he saved him from years of isolation, and some gratitude for that is pretty normal tbh. He does still care about Tommy to some extent though, so finding out more may actually dissuade him from teaming up. I'm hoping for it at least... please...

(im gonna be sending a few seperate asks since theyre seperate thoughts/ideas, sorry for any sort of inbox spam!!) ur pet regressor tommy fic led me into a whole wormhole of many different ideas.. esp abt who else is a pet regressor!!

- wilbur (cat regressor!! also very relaxed, he *will* just sleep on phil or techno's lap for hours on end. mostly nonverbal, but will meow every now nd again. mostly communicates through actions. he can purr. doesn't drop often, but when he does, it's due to extreme stress- meaning he can be pretty sensitive while he's in catspace.)

- tubbo (puppy regressor, but definitely more of a relaxed dog aside from the amnt he communicates, especially through barking, whimpering, and soft "awooo!!"'s. loves snuggles. sometimes, he's scared to come of as annoying, so he's hesitant to slip into pupspace, normally needing someone to help him along and tell him that it's ok for him to be a puppy, nd that he's a very very good boy.)

- karl (kitten regressor!!!! he's either really sleepy or really playful/energetic, and he has no in between on that. he meows.. so much.. all he kno is meow meow!! *very* sensitive while dropped, and as such, he needs a lot of validation and love. will get extremely upset with himself if he notices that anyone is even *slightly* mad/irritated by him.)

- nick (sapnap) (PUPPY REGRESSOR 100000%!!! he's very very loud and extremely playful!!! he can be entertained for *hours* w literally anything, especially toys like chew bones. doesn't really drop too often, but when he does, he drops very very far. something that can trigger his drops is when people compare his traits/actions to those of a dog because he just goes yes!! yes me!!!! dog!!! me!!!! also he loves karl *so* much because karl absolutely spoils him rotten when he's in pupspace.)

- ranboo (kitty regressor!! similar to karl, he can be really sensitive while he's dropped. entirely nonverbal, opting for actions instead. he's a mix of both playful and sleepy. when he sleeps, he curls his entire body up into a circle nd kneads at whatever he's sleeping on until he falls asleep.)

- dream (cat regressor!! sleeps a lot when he's dropped, hes just vv tired. mimics patches, and loves to follow her around/act like she does. even bases his catgear around patches, with tabby-colored cat ears and an outfit based off of similar colors. drops very easily, mostly voluntarily.)

those r the ones i can think of now.. id love to know ypur opinions/interpretations of them!! -🌻

OKAY I’M GONNA GO THROUGH THESE ONE BY ONE, AND SHARE MY THOUGHTS+OTHER POSSIBLE HCS/FIC SCENARIOS, SO LONG POST WARNING Y’ALL

1. Cat Regressor! Wilbur

yes yes yes, I wouldn’t of thought of it myself but the idea is absolutely adorable! I’d totally write that, with like handler/cg!niki in addition to those you listed. And the idea of him using it for stress and therefore being sensitive in catspace? like, that’s amazing.

I could imagine a fic where someone pushes him to regress for fun for once, but he feels like it’s stupid to purposely act like a cat when he doesn’t need it? They don’t pressure him, or anything, but he ends up slipping because he feels safe. and he realizes not only does it help with stress, but it just makes him more happy!

also imagine him slipping around tommy for whatever reason, and just wanting to sleep while Tommy’s trying to do something fun. So he’s dragging around a sleepy kitten and waking him up every two seconds, and it’s really soft and adorable and ends up with Wilbur sleeping somewhat on Tommy so that he can’t get up and he’s like ‘you’re so lucky I love you, dude.’ awww I need to write a fic- no promises but y’know

2.Puppy Regressor!Tubbo

someone actually requested a puppy regressors!tubbo and tommy fic that I’m having trouble writing, like it sounds cute but it’s kinda hard bc I’ve never written puppyspace before. I actually decided to start over but I’ma keep trying on that.

anyways, imagine like, Ranboo or Tommy helping him slip over a discord call! Needing help to regress is something that I understand (I age regress, but I haven’t in a while due to this issue), so I could probably write Tubbo in that position well. Needing to be coaxed and told that it’s okay to be a cute lil puppy, like that’s adorable!

3. Kitten Regressor!Karl

tbh I tried to write kitten!karl but I was half asleep and gave up, I need to get back to that hjsiksja. Like I specialize in writing sensitive regressors w/anxiety over someone being mad at them, so I could definitely pull this off.

and the idea of him being a talkative kitty is sooo cute! Like I can imagine something along the lines of this conversation between him and a handler/cg:

“What do you want?”

“Meowww”

“I don’t know what that means!”

“Meow?” (little head tilt and innocent cute eyes)

“Do you want cuddles?”

*excited meows! and he goes and cuddles up in their lap bc yay, they understood him!*

and imagine kitten!karl playing w/Quackity! very very adorable concept

4. Puppy Regressor! Sapnap

okay okay so I don’t watch sapnap really but this is still adorable! Like the whole ‘me, puppy? yes.’ thing is soooo cute! Imagine George or Dream just forgetting that’s a trigger and making a joke about how one of his mannerisms reminds them of a puppy and suddenly! There’s a puppy to take care of!

and karl spoiling him sounds like something he’d do hjsiksjsa. I can’t really add much on here bc idk much about him/his content past the smp but this is so cute! Maybe I’ll watch a few of his videos and attempt writing him bc I keep getting requests for him

5. Kitten Regressor! Ranboo

yes, I was already thinking about this tbh! Like I’ve written him as a little and it’s kinda similar, he’s sensitive, and he’s less verbal the littler he gets. As a kitten, I can easily picture him just being quiet.

I imagine that he’s really pouty because of this, because he doesn’t know how to communicate otherwise, so this might confuse anyone who may take care of him.

“Why are you pouting? Do you want cuddles? Food? Do you wanna play?”

and he just doesn’t reply bc he’s a kitten and he can’t talk so it’s an endless cycle of guess and check until they reach the right answer, and it’s really funny to watch. I can also imagine that he giggles a lot. Like he’s not verbal or anything, and he doesn’t giggle a lot but sometimes it happens! and if you make him giggle while in kittenspace then you did something right!

it makes everyone happy when he giggles and it’s really soft and cute! I definitely think I’ll write a fic with kitten!ranboo in it, at some point eventually, I think!

6. Cat Regressor! Dream

awwwww- I didn’t even consider the possibility of this but awwww. Imagine Wilbur and Dream in catspace together, just sleeping and cuddling while basically all the other kittens are playing and being hyper. And everyone’s trying to get them to play but they’re sleepy! (ofc they end up playing anyways bc their friends are adorable and convincing but y’know)

and I really like the idea of him mimicking patches! I’ve seen a few pet regresors say that they mimick/copy their pets so it kinda feels realistic and likely! and plus, it’s really cute.

and since his regression is voluntary, I can imagine him like one minute, just chillin w/george and sapnap and going ‘what if- what if I just went *cat mode*’ and he tries to hint to his friends that he wants to slip but they’re not getting it so it’s kinda frustrating for him but funny for the readers to see play out bc George and Sapnap are being completely oblivious to everything. Hjsiksja that’d be funny

-Spends most of his free time and breaks in the library reading a book or studying.

-Doesn't like getting involved in conflicts or fights but he will step in and tell them back off if they are making fun of someone or bullying them :(

-His sleeping schedule is messed up.So after staying up all night playing videogames he buys atleast seven cups of coffee in the cafeteria to keep him awake.

-Finds sticky notes his three best friends left behind on his locker.It's either daily reminders or just some dumb shit like an insult or a crappy drawing.He pretends to throw them away but he secretly keeps them all in his room :)

-Gives his friends after school lessons and guides if they are stuck on homework or have a big exam coming up so they don't fail and get a good mark :D

-Doesn't like going to football games or any school games at all,but he will go when it's one of Tommy's basketball games (He even went with him to his tryouts for moral support-)

-Will give both Tommy and Wilbur cheet sheets and answers for bigger and more harder exams or tests :P (But they have to pay him lmfaooo-)

-Agrees to do risky (but fun-) shit with Tommy and Wilbur (They have broken into the school multiple times at night-)

-Sometimes Techno gets these horrible head aches so Phil,Wilbur and Tommy created a little sleeping spot on an old couch in the library where they can all lay down and relax together :D (This shit is so wholesome)

-Drags his friends and talks so much shit about them but in reality he cares for them.He will call them names like loser or idiot but he never truly means it :) (He loves them but he would never admit it out loud- cringee)

-Is in two clubs.He plays the violin in the school band and performs in the theater. (He played a king once and till this day it's by far his favorite performance) :D

-Completely oblivious to the fact that these random two dudes (Squid and Dream) are competing against him for the reputation of the smartest student.

❣︎ ᴘʜɪʟ ᴡᴀᴛsᴏɴ(Third year):

-The parent of the school.He helps out wherever he can so his hands are always full and occupied.It gets hard to catch him sometimes since he's always running around.

-The teachers love him.He will help them with papers and he also volunteers to stay longer and clean up the classroom after everyone leaves.

-Keeps the chaos trio out of trouble and makes sure they don't end up in detention,though he doubts Techno ever will.He can't say the same for the other two though :)

-Helps out the nurses and lunch ladies if they have too much work- (He gets free chocolate milk in the cafeteria as a little thank you :D)

-He basically steals the teachers work.They don't get any more complaints from the students or any type of fight they need to solve since Phil's got it all under control.

-He stops by the bakery and brings breakfast for Tommy and Wilbur,and a coffee for Techno with him.Techno said he doesn't like to eat early so Phil kept that in mind :)

-They think he doesn't know but Phil indeed does recall all the shenanigans the three of his best friends have done. (Yes even the school break ins-)

-Attends ALL of Techno's and Wilbur's shows and performances.And he doesn't forget about Tommy's basketball games :3 (He's probably the loudest in the crowd and hypes them up like a proud father-)

-Gets way too worried over his friends.One time Tommy twisted his ankle during a game and Phil freaked out. Tommy reassured him that it's just a bruise but turns out he broke his ankle so- Yeah trust Phil and get it checked if he says to get it checked :)

-Student council president?- That's Phil for you.

-The students (and teachers) were both very happy that Phil got to be council president since he has proven himself worthy of that title.

-Constantly has to apologize for Tommy's and Wilbur's antics.He can't argue against Techno but these two brainless children get into way too much trouble :(

-Phil keeps the school under control- At first the teacher's were kinda pissed off but now they get to spend more free time and still get payed for doing less work.They always make sure to thank Phil though don't worry :)

-There have been way less fights and stressful situations in school since Phil takes care of them and makes sure everything runs smoothly,the way it's supposed to :D

❣︎ ᴡɪʟʙᴜʀ sᴏᴏᴛ(First year):

-The heartthrob of the school.Cliche definition of Mr.popular.The whole school is either in love with him, jealous of him or they admire him.

-Has the most sick parties over the year.Halloween?Birthdays?Home alone parties? With Wilbur it's like prom every month :D

-Flirts with all the girls,he's never been in a relationship before but he can't help the fact that he's handsome :) He's a huge ass romantic.The reason behind that may be the fact that his favorite movie genre is romance lmao-

-Is in the school band and theater club with Techno.He plays the guitar and sings(Bonus points for the girls) His favorite type of performances have to be musicals :D (Hamilton reference let's go-)

-Fights with Tommy all the time.You could catch the two of them throwing insults at eachother and from time to time even a middle finger (or in Tommy's case both)

-People continously ask him if he's dating Niki but they are just good friends who bond over music :( He would sing and play guitar for her,Niki has so many polaroids of their cute moments together in her room- (Wilbur may or may not have stolen one while he was hanging out with her-)

-Knows everyones dirty secrets and will blackmail others if they fuck with him or his friends.

-Also hates Dream,doesn't know if it's becouse he competes with Techno all the time or that he's a huge wheezing jerk >:(

-He loves sitting next to Techno in the library while he comes up with new song ideas.He would ask Techno for his opinion to <3

-The whole school is behind his back.You start shit with Wilbur and not only are his friends there to back him but every student (Even the janitor lmao)

❣︎ ᴛᴏᴍᴍʏ sɪᴍᴏɴs(First year):

-Seen as a heathen by the whole school.Got himself the nickname troublemaker from pretty much everyone.

-Shit you not he goes around the school and starts fights with people who are way stronger than him but still manages to beat them up like?

-Road his skateboard through the school hallways once and made Tubbo record it while he pulled off some stupid stunt down the stairs- He ended up breaking his leg lmao.

-Legit always goes after the popular kids-(That's how he met Phil,Wilbur and Techno)now he has people who can beat ass with him (except for Phil)

-Calls teachers out on their bullshit.He will literally say they are wrong and what they're saying his complete bullshit

-May or may not have got suspended a few times

-Gets into so many detentions.The teachers are pretty much used to him coming and even have a special seat reserved for him in the back.

-Plays basketball and gets super excited when the Blade comes and picks him up from practice.Feels extremely cool that he's walking away with him while his teammates stare in shock.

-Once spread a rumor about Wilbur to pay him back for pranking him and let's just say Tommy and he had a pretty deep conversation lmao-

-That kid who always couldn't contain his luaghter in class and threw paper balls across the room.Yeah that's Tommy

-Has a gang he hangs out with (Tubbo is his favorite but he loves to annoy Deo lmao)They also have a groupchat,tbh it's mostly just Tommy asking if he can copy homework from one of them

-Tried to hack into the school system with Techno's help atleast five times but after Phil cought them the two of them stopped

-Brings nerf guns into school and jumpscares people with them.He shot the principal once and that was the most terrifying moment of his life (Apart that conversation with Wilbur lmaoooo)

-Loves breaking rules with Wilbur and Techno lol.It was his idea to break into the school the first time so they kinda stuck to doing that (especially during summer break)

AHHHHH- It's finished! This time I tried something different and made it a bunch of short headcanons!This is probably my favorite type of au so I'm really happy with how it turned out! Love y'all <3

Hi! Hope you had a nice nap!

Yeah, it's a bit odd to me as well tbh. I believe it stemmed from Wilbur's discussion of Dream SMP lore on Phil's stream, and some people got the idea that cc!Wilbur was being "controlling" in regards to other people's Dream SMP lore, and he was "ruining it" for some people.

To give my two cents, I honestly couldn't disagree more with this sentiment. cc!Wilbur is very knowledgeable in roleplay, and writing! He knows how to involve other people in a story, how to collaborate and cooperate with others story-wise, and so on. Not to mention, these people are his friends! If he's working on somebody's lore, there is a very very good chance that they ASKED him, like Tubbo or Phil did. He's not going to be forcefully intruding on other people's lore. He's the same person who wrote Season 1, which many of the ccs themselves constantly phrase writing-wise and was pretty darn good as a season!

So, yeah! To be completely honest, anon, I think it was just some people who were slightly misinformed or had a bit of confusion in regards to the Dream SMP writing, that ended up getting a bit worried due to false information spreading around. This has happened before, so I'm hoping it's not gonna be that big of a deal in fandom discourse.

i mean... we're not trying to - being against punitive justice is about the fact punishment is wrong, not just certain types of it. asking me what a "fitting punishment" would be is sort of very not getting the point.

hurting people further is not going to teach them anything and it’s not going to help anyone, why is it necessary?

so the answer is: none. he shouldn’t be punished, actually! he should learn on his own that what he did wasn’t right, and that’s about it. that’s the thing about transformative justice. him becoming a better person who Wouldn’t Do That again because it goes against who he is.

however, there’s also restorative justice, which is working to “make it up” to the victims. to which i propose; dream has the revival book and could literally bring him back once he is out of the prison. give him some powder maybe. md would probably be chill w/ that.

Yknow. In all my time in dsmpblr i can confidently say that the main differnece between c!dream apologist/enthusiants and c!wilbur/sam ones is that the c!wilbur/c!sam ones want their fav to have a breakdown and c!dream ones want theirs to get positive reinforcement /hj /lh

no i’m - i’m pretty sure that’s just how it works. dream still owns the smp, but he himself has said wayy back at the beginning “everyone can build and go wherever they want” and that was that. it was one of his rules on the smp, it was his main problem with l’manberg. being able to build anywhere were the rules that he “had the right” to enforce. and he did, not because he was a god, but because it was his smp, his home that he claimed for his friends. wouldn’t call it a big debate, it’s really that simple.

so like. tw suicide but thats what the entire song is about and bing bang boom i just think it works so so so so so so so well with not only exile tommy (who obviously did try to kill himself) but also wilbur in a slightly more metaphorical way? so like. his self destructive habits leading him to a point where he had no choice other than to kill himself and to take his country down with him. and its all about other characters trying to help them and persuade them not to but also near the end there is a second voice trying to persuade them to go along with it, which im thinking like. if its wilbur, either dream or maybe just himself. his own brain persuading him to continue down the path that would inevitably lead to his and his countries destruction. also it works well with schlatt for the same reasons, except he doesnt want to die. maybe (since the song is so goddamn long) like. one verse for tommy one for wilbur and one for schlatt? dead gang poggg but also like. the verses cover fairly different things which work with one character but not so much the others, for example the first verse would be tommy because its mainly about persuading the person to not kill themself (which tommy did himself but shhh) the second for schlatt because its literally about drinking and smoking away your problems, and the third for wilbur since its more of a fight between the "good" and the "bad" sides, which is obviously what wilbur was experiencing. also obviously i have a soft spot for this song because its string instruments and french, basically my favourite combination ever (also i like his voice idfk lmao)

Then there’s Techno. I’ve already talked a bit about Techno because of the guard thing, but there’s a lot more to say. For one, Techno is King-regent! I was wondering who was going to fill that position. It’s couldn’t be Wilbur. The people on Eldingvegr still hate him (probably) a d he’s too busy with his own new position. Also, while Wilbur is smart a d full of potential, he’s still young and inexperienced. They need someone with experience to temporarily rule Eldingvegr and mentor Tommy at the same time.

So Techno it is. He’s perfect for the role since Eldingvegr is now one of the most important planets under their control. And maybe it’s a little bit of an excuse to be close to Tommy (and Wilbur) too. It’s so clear how fond he is of them both. And again, that lingering trauma. While he definitely trusts their guards, he probably likes to keep an eye on them himself.

It does make me wonder who fills Techno’s position. Is Phil doing both? Did Puffy take over? Does Ranboo do it as Techno’s protege (and while Ranboo take over later when Wilbur becomes emperor?) Or does Techno still do bits on the side?

And then there’s his reaction to Niki. He’s surprised to see her. Probably impressed by her. Still a little suspicious when she wants to make a request. But ultimately he’s glad Wilbur found her. Not only for the brothers and how happy it makes them, but also because he looks forward to working with her and training her.

yeah techno took over the king regent role!! tbh I didn't actually think of who was going to take the position until I was writing the chapter and i was like shit wait who would it be. I knew it couldn't be wilbur 1) because the people of eldingvegr would not be happy about it and 2) wilbur isn't experienced enough to be a regent. techno made the most sense, because while he's still needed on zephys iv, he has more flexibility than phil does. phil is way too busy ruling an empire to take over, so techno just have to juggle two jobs for a few years before he's able to pass the crown over to tommy

(and yeah it's definitely also an excuse to stay close to the brothers and keep an eye on them to make sure they're safe, although wilbur regularly travels between eldingvegr and zephys iv)

techno still does imperator bits on the side, and phil also picks up his duties when he can. puffy helps as well, but there's no one person really filling the imperator's shoes. ranboo is way too inexperienced so he's out of the question. and no, ranboo won't take over the imperator position when wilbur becomes emperor. that's what phil's conversation with wilbur about choosing niki as his right hand was about. when the time comes in many many years, niki is going to take over techno's role as imperator. by then she'll have been an antarctic resident for many years and will have learned a lot by wilbur's side. the emperor gets to choose the imperator, and of course wilbur would choose niki a thousand times over (yes, this also means techno is going to start mentoring niki at some point in the future)

he's definitely surprised wilbur managed to find her. he's also impressed with how boldly she requests protection right off the bat. he's heard a lot about her so he has high expectations, and she meets pretty much every single one of them in their first meeting. he's looking forward to getting to know her quite a bit

Story you wish was more successful:

Well, that’s kind of the curse of writing rare pairs. I want anything with Tony/Quentin or Peter/Quentin to be more successful, lol. Defining the feeling of success in fandoms/pairings like that is tricky, because— do I wish they’d gotten more attention? Of course! Do I consider them fairly successful because they got any attention? Yeah, kinda.

Something like Intent got very little response, but considering the size and age of the fandom, it actually felt successful to get any response?

The entire Old Adages series I really wish had found an audience; I’m very fond of it, and it’s… softer than I usually write? The filthy smutty kinky stuff always outpreforms anything else, and that sort of thing feels easy for me. And I’m extrapolating a lot for young Quentin’s characterization, so I’m a little insecure about that as well.

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story:

You know, there are several stories I feel like should be that? But let’s be honest, considering what I’ve written in the past, they’re not that bad.

So I’m going to have to go with Creepy Crawly. I mean, I get squicked a little if I read it in the wrong mindset. SPIDERS D:

Hardest story to write:

Causality. I just… could not quite connect somehow. I had the image in my head fine, but when I went to write it I felt pretty meh. I think I hadn’t done much (any?)Peter POV at that point, so that was a stretch. And I think I’d been spending so much time in the world of Gotcha that any other version of Peter/Quentin felt strange. I got it done, I have a sequel planned, but it was a struggle.

No Lies was also tricky. I picked the prompt ‘make-up’ because I had this crystal clear mental image of someone kneeling, crying, makeup smeared all over them. But I didn’t know WHO. I tried so many pairings and characters, and even when I figured out that I really wanted that to be Tony… who with? Could I actually make Peter behaving that way believable?? Once I got it sorted out the writing was easy, but getting there - gah.

Easiest story to write:

Indefensible was bizarre to write, because it literally just arrived in my brain in one giant chunk, complete, and I just had to transcribe it over a day or two. Very odd.

Pocket Change was much the same. The idea appeared and that first image of Tony holding the bill was just… there. The rest of it fell into place so easily as I went along.

Most fun story to write:

Just a Bite was a lot of fun to write. It’s a topic I enjoy anyway, and I like trying to focus in on one element like that. Peter discovering a new thing he liiiiikes is always a ton of fun.

11:59 was also surprisingly fun? Like— three characters that have interesting dialogue patterns, a slightly darker Tony, being able to indulge in nasty Quentin without him being quite a villain, the constant shifting of emotions for everyone in the room. Just so much going on in small ways. There are totally at least three more fics set in that universe.

What’s your personal favorite thing you wrote this year?

Tough call, but probably A Perfect Fit. Really, the entire insane little universe that’s expanding into. Definitely not something I would have expected at ALL back in January.

What’s your least favorite thing you wrote this year?

Maybe Can’t, Wont? Idk. I didn’t have a strong enough idea for the prompt to really make something of it, I guess. And writing Peter/Quentin is kind of difficult at the moment. It feels weird because I’ve spent so much time in the world of Gotcha that other takes on the characters are odd.

If you could go back and change something about one of the fics you wrote this year, what would it be?

Probably Want What I Want. I knew what I wanted and I just couldn’t quite make it function. So I went with a slantwise version of it - which isn’t bad, but doesn’t have the focus I wanted it to. It felt like more of a twist on the prompt than I wanted. I’d like to go back and expand it out, dig into the specifics of the prompt a little more.

And tbh, I got a comment on that very point. I’m normally really good about letting go of comments? But it was something I’d questioned myself, so it stuck more.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:

(Just) Waiting Around? Maybe? As much as I love top/experienced!Peter, I had to sit down and figure out how I might be able to actually get him there, convince the reader that this was a Peter that current Peter could become.

And any of the Tony/Quentin fics. There’s not a lot given for Quentin in canon; taking those little bits and trying to follow them back to these younger version of Quentin was really interesting and difficult. How do I make this character the softer, more open, more vulnerable, less confident version of himself from 10/15 years ago, and still keep those sharper edges that will grow and take over? How do I make the reader believe both that this version could have existed and that version could actually become the canon one?

Story that was most different from what you usually write:

I mean, Relief? I’ve never written het before (and probably never will again, lol), but I wasn’t going to let the chance to write redwings pass me by.

In general, all the freaking ABO. Which I’d never written before this fandom, though I’ve read tons of it. Not something I really expected to write? And then suddenly I’m not just writing it, I can’t seem to stop.

Sustain felt pretty different, and it took me a moment to figure out why (don’t laugh at me!). I’ve never written straight up non-sexual kink before. Not just a kink scene that doesn’t have sex, but a kink scene that doesn’t even have the intention or desire for sex. Completely removing that additional layer of tension and complications is fascinating. I’m really interested in expanding that verse.

Most unintentionally telling story:

Oh, other than Gotcha, lol? Um. I don’t know if any really are? Maybe Backhand, or Sustain. Hmm, maybe Getting Started, though it’s not finished.

Now I wonder what conclusions those have people drawing.

What’s your favorite piece of description or narration?

Oh my god, what an impossible question. Uh. This is difficult because I… think of images in words? I feel very odd about the bits I picked, Idk.

It’s so small, and I don’t know if I captured it as well as it is in my head, but I come back to it so often:

Stark sits on the bed, and then seems to get lost, or distracted, not moving again until Phil pushes him gently towards the middle of the bed. He gets Stark curled up on his side, just a sliver of his back touching the sheets.

There's a chair against the wall that doesn't look too modern, so hopefully more comfortable than most of the monstrosities around here; Phil has a feeling he's going to be here a while, watching Stark come back up. He stands, about to walk away when there's a soft touch on his hand. He looks down.

Stark's arm is stretched out, his fingers just barely resting on the back of Phil's hand. He's looking up at Phil out of the corner of his eyes, head just barely turned towards him. It's a clear a request as anything spoken; stay.

"I'm not leaving," Phil tells him. "I'm not even leaving the room. I was just going to get a chair.'

There's a breath, a hesitation, Stark's hand not leaving his, and then it's gone, Stark dragging it back in, turning his face into the pillow. That was the wrong response, something about it was just... wrong.

"Stark," Phil says, leaning onto the bed. "Do you want me to stay here? On the bed? I wasn't sure you'd be comfortable with that." After all, this doesn't seem to be at all sexual for him.

Stark doesn't say anything—Phil's not entirely sure if he's nonverbal or not—but he turns his face back towards Phil a little. Doesn't quite look at him, and doesn't make a move; he's not going to ask again, not after what he obviously took as a rejection. His reactions are odd, not much like Phil had expected.

Beck gets Peter turned around, still kneeling but settled back against Beck's legs, leaning into it. "Toss me his shirt," he says, and Tony throws it at his face, Beck managing to catch it before it connects. Laughs, like this is fucking funny. He slips his hand into Peter's hair and tugs his head back a bit, wiping the come off his face.

"Take five, baby," Beck says, and Peter hums, resting his head on Beck's thigh and staring at Tony. so!! ballum!! an outsider’s rundown. first their individual characters + backstory

ben

- is a mitchell which is one of like the major families in eastenders, one that has been in the show since it started

- son of phil mitchell who used to be like a major gangsta but now he’s just kinda old and wrinkly and tries to be scary

- phil is also an alcoholic and he abused ben when he was a kid, and treated him like shit because he wasn’t overly masculine, is also a bit of a homophobe and was really shitty to ben when he came out

- ben’s hard of hearing, so like he had maningitis when he was a kid and lost some of his hearing and so he’s had a hearing aid all his life (another thing that phil picked on him for cause he’s an ass) and recently lost more of his hearing in an accident

- has been in prison for manslaughter oops

- has a daughter from when he was trying to prove that he was straight but it’s okay because lexi is a little badass and we love her.

- was with this guy paul a while ago who got killed and it was hella sad

callum

- was also abused by an alcoholic homophobic dad for most of his childhood, but his family aren’t very important on the square. he has a brother stuart who used to be kinda creepy but like i like him now so like yeah

- was a cook in the army for a while (because he was trying to prove that he was straight, although that’s not confirmed canon it might as well be, just like his ptsd) but ended up coming home after getting injured, also he was in love with this guy in the army but he’s dead now as well

- was with this nice girl whitney for ages but then he cheated on her with ben (they did it in a park oop) and told her that he cheated on the night before their wedding, so the wedding got called off and unrelated but ben ended up getting shot at the wedding which ended up in a lot of angsty pining (he was fine eventually)

- came out to his dad in front of a whole pub worth of people and it was really badass bc his dad’s an ass

- is now a police offer (EW)

okay so!! general basic storyline stuff (im going to try and restrain myself because ive tried typing this out before and it was 1000 words before i even got to like the start of this year)

ben and callum meet while callum is still pretending to be straight and with whitney, but ben sells him a dodgy car (oh yeah ben’s a criminal kinda) and callum confronts him and ben figures out that he’s gay (that is a really iconic scene if you’re looking for one to watch it’s generally just known as the i smell queer scene). then they’re sort of running around pining for ages until callum cracks, goes to confront ben, and they end up doing it in a park.

yay.

the next day callum then proposes to whitney (sensible move), cue another good few months of pining until callum and whitney’s wedding, where whitney leaves him at the altar, and ben gets shot at the wedding reception. he’s fine tho (those scenes are also really good, if you just look up ben gets shot on yt) and they agree to go on a date.

it then takes them a while to actually go on the date bc idk eastenders is weird, and then a little further along the line comes the scene where callum comes out to his dad and like half the square in the middle of a pub, then gives ben a big ol’ smooch in front of everyone (another amazing scene).

then they’re together!! it’s kinda happy for a while!! callum encourages ben to not be so criminal, he kinda does it for like a couple of weeks

and then christmas comes and oooh boy

essentially, in simple terms- ben breaks up with callum to protect him, because ben’s being forced to kill someone for his dad, and that’s really sad. ben gets someone else to kill said guy (except they dont and THAT’S a whole drama) and callum comes back and they do it on a desk and get back together eventually.

THEN

the guy that ben was supposed to kill comes back and kidnaps callum, and this whole set of episodes is generally considered as some of ee’s best (at least by me) so i won’t say too much about these, because if youre gonna watch any i’d reccomed these episodes, it was the eastenders 35th anniversary, and it was actually so amazing in so many ways (i could write a whole other post about that but like yeah).

essentially, something happens and ben ends up losing a lot more of his hearing, which he really struggles with. callum helps him through it, because he loves him (its so SOFT) and then eventually comes the scene where ben tells callum that he loves him for the first time and my fuck that is probably one of my favourite scenes so thats definitely worth a watch. basically, ben struggles with his hearing and the subsequent treatments for a long time, and ends up doing a robbery with his dad to try and prove that he still can, and this is about when ee went on a break over lockdown.

AND THEN COMES EE SEASON 2

(thats a funny because ee have never been on a break in 35years before the break during lockdown so we’ve termed everything post that ee season 2)

oh and its a whole fucking load of drama. fuckin lot of angst. callum becomes part of the police (ew) and ends up getting blackmailed by his boss over ben, and it’s been really hard on him which is why we’re all anticipating him having a breakdown and it’s gonna be REALLY SAD.

now there’s a lot of debate over the current sl that callum has, and honestly there have been bits of it that i liked?? my favourite episode has been the one in which callums brother gets married (stuart and rainie are fucking amazing), and callum also beat up a guy to defend ben’s honour. which could possibly get him in even more trouble because now he’s being super blackmailed by his boss :(((

anyways thats about the jist of where we’re up to now?? ee season 2 for ballum has pretty much just been back and forth on callum’s storyline, im kinda liking it tbh?? but there’s a lot of questionable choices unfortunately.
