I need to rant about the Fallout show
Because this is the person I am. Full spoilers, so I’m putting it behind a Keep Reading:
I’m a huge sucker for Fallout (yes even 3&4). And I went into the Fallout show with some… trepidation. Amazon has been a mixed bag on adaptations, we could have been blessed with a Good Omens, or cursed by a Rings of Power. But early buzz and reviews seemed positive, so I slammed the whole thing in one night with my spouse (we were staying at my in-laws house and they have Prime. Time was a factor.)
And y’know? I was really enjoying it! The characters were fun, the plot was engaging enough, and the costumes and visual design were extremely on point. There were some minor lore quibbles to be had: Ghouls needing some kind of medicine to not go feral. Really, more Enclave holdouts? Timeline and date whoopsies. Wait are they in California? Where the hell is the NCR?
I made a face at Shady Sands being bombed and the NCR collapsing. But I wasn’t completely out of the story. Based on what I had seen so far, I thought it was building to a reveal that the Brotherhood had done it. That the more zealous turn they took in Fallout 4, which has clearly carried to how they are portrayed in the show, lead them to bombing the NCR. War never changes, as they say. Maximus even says when asked what happened to Shady Sands: “The same thing that always happens.” Yeah, it leans into Bethesda’s weird desire to keep the Fallout world in a state of perpetual wastelands full of raiders and no civilization, but it wasn’t so terrible that I couldn’t still enjoy the show.
But then.
BUT THEN.
Episode 8, and the reveal of Vault-Tec apparently being the ones who dropped the first bomb in the Great War.
I was surprised to hear that some fans have apparently been debating over who fired first? Some even asked Tim Cain about it?
That’s really odd to me because, in the games, there is already a pretty definitive answer to which side sparked the Great War:
Tumblr media
Who fucking cares?
The world ended. What does it matter who shot first?
There is no China, no United States, no communists or capitalists left to fight about it.
It's a powerful little bit of lore.
For all the posturing, all the promises from each nation that their way is the true way, all the nationalism, the militarism, and blind loyalty to flags over humanity, they both lost. Everyone lost. All that remains of the ideologies and nations that were so important to the people of 2077 is faint echoes over vast expanses of radioactive ash.
Who started the end?
No one knows. No one cares.
It only matters that their conflict was so bitter, so all-consuming, that one of them dropped their bombs, and the other dropped theirs in return.
The truest legacy of the old world is the devastation left by their final, most horrific war.
Can we do better?
Then the show says "Nah, Vault-Tec did it. It's not a commentary on human nature and the futility of self-destructive conflict, it was actually these guys, these mustache twirling villains huddled in a darkened room literally plotting to end the whole world so they can rule what's left."
And I can see the attempt to make this a critique of capitalism. I actually paused the show to praise a bit of writing when Coop is talking with Charlie before the war, when Charlie tells him that the “cattle ranchers are in charge” to illustrate how capitalism and corporations hold too much sway over the government, it felt very in line with how in New Vegas one of the recurring critiques of the NCR is that all the real power is in the hands of the “brahmin barons.” Nice parallel, spot on!
But “we’ll set off total thermonuclear war so we can rule the ashes and have a True Monopoly” isn’t capitalism. It’s just dumb “we’re the baddies” writing.
And then Shady Sands was also Vault-Tec?! Forget any meaning in the NCR falling to the same corruption and/or factional fighting that consumed the old world, they were literally just bombed by the evil shadow conspiracy that apparently also killed the old world. Hank gives this speech about factions fighting and the futility of it all while we see the Brotherhood fighting Moldaver’s NCR remnant, and like, no! You can’t say that when you’ve made it so neither the old world or the NCR fell to war with another faction! It was you! You and your band of cryogenic supervillains!
I don't care that they changed it. Timelines and dates and little retcons don’t bother me all that much. I care that they changed it to something so much worse.

Hi! I'm most interested on reading your version of HS extension(?) continuation? re-adaptation? Ever since I first saw your analysis on Dirk and Jake I've considered you with amazing grip of the characters and the HS universe over all, Dirk is one of my fav characters of all time (if not the), and there is nothing I'd want more for him than a happy ending, the epilogues were truly heart breaking for him (even though I was more than willing to see where they were going with him in HS^2 in hopes of seeing him reach a happy end) Homestruck was and still is one of my fav properties ever and I'd love to see more from you, I'm sorry you had a hard time but I'm really glad you're back, here and in a better headspace. That said, I guess I'm just somewhat confused on in you have something written already or if it's in the works or from where in the timeline you're continueing from ? Maybe you have like, a master post with your list of essays and fics?
I also loved your youtube videos btw
Thanks! It means a lot to read this. As to your question:
The main project I've been managing since the Epilogues got posted is Pumpkin Path/Pumpkin Track, a sequel to the Meat and Candy epilogues focused primarily on Pumpkins and Vegetables as an alternative form of fan consumption.
The first installment of this arc is THE APOCRYPHON OF JAKE ENGLISH (2019), which follows Meat Jake immediately following Ultimate Dirk's desertion of Earth C. Brain Ghost Dirk declares Dirkjake cancelled and (trigger warning) self-destructs, unleashing the inner barriers in Jake's psychology that he always used his inner Dirk voice to maintain.
Thus Jake's own mind begins to lead him down a rabbit hole of speculatory metaphysics, esoteric spiritual symbolism, and esoteric magic theory that ultimately leads to his ascension to Ultimate Self as Prince English: Himself wearing Dirk's shades and orange hat and essentially larping as a Prince in imitation of Dirk proper.
Through the power he gains from this, he blasts off from Earth C and tracks down Ultimate Dirk for a no holds barred 8eatdown in which he reclaims their lost love and makes Dirk his prisoner with chains of love and mercy, cancelling his ability to die and comitting to becoming the vill8in of Homestuck, as well as its Her8, if it means he can keep Dirk safe and alive.
In the process he finally establishes Dirkjake as indisputable endgame canon, and becomes the equivalent of the I AM Christian God, the new existential equivalent to Lord English himself, with a will that predominates completely over everything else in Paradox Space. There may be some surprises that happen along the way, too.
Now, That much of the story has been written and published since 2019. You can read it on A03 right now and always could. In fact, I'd encourage you to do so and @ me, as well as maybe tag it with #Pumpkin Path, #Pumpkin Track, or just straight up #Homestuck for all I care. I want eyes on this thing, and I wanted them 4 years ago.
That said:
I am now nearing completion on the follow-up to the Apocryphon as an intermission piece between the Epilogues and Pumpkin Track proper, with what is essentially ACT 1 of Pumpkin Track: W(1)LDSCR1PT-B4R0QU3STUCK, a high-drama spectacle driven continuation of the plot of the Epilogues centering on a confrontation between Ultimate Jake English and Meat Jade Harley, who must duel for the right to decide if Dirk Strider dies.
In the process of their battle and Jade's necessary Ascension to Ultimate Selfhood in order to Rise uP to the level necessary to compete against a being like Prince English, deeply hidden truths will be unveiled; about the lives of Jade and Jake, about the moral logic that rules Earth C, and about the very nature and purpose of Paradox Space itself.
If I have it my way, if all goes as I Hope, then nothing in Homestuck will ever be the same once it's posted. The Apocryphon was setup. Now it's fucking Sh8wt1m3, and I can't w8.
The first half of Wildscript is written and has been being beta'd for several months, and I have a full outline written for the rest. Anyone who gets their eyes on the thing seems to come away pretty excited. Sometime in the near future, I'll post the first four Chapters of Wildscript on Ao3 or some other platform, and update the rest as I go. And once Wildscript is finished, I have future Acts and Intermissions planned for the foreseeable eternity, tackling off the top of my head: Ultimate Ascensions for Rose and Kanaya, Vriska and Terezi, Roxy and Calliope, Jane Crocker, and Nepeta Leijon and Tavros Nitram as they lead the twin charges of Nepetaquest 3033.
There is no endpoint to my ambition for the future of Homestuck save simply: 8. The only question is whether the fandom wants to come along for the ride with me in the long run. I think Hope Remains that we'll have a great time here if they do.
If not, I hope they have even more fun elsewhere.
Let's rise.

The Tarot Sequence - K.D. Edwards
The Last Sun
These have been cropping up on my radar for a while, and they looked like a quick, easy read, which is what I wanted. Well, they're weren't that quick, but they were easy.
When I first started this book, it seemed like exactly the kind of "teen dross" my friend always accuses me of reading. The main character is the most specialist boy who ever did live, he lives in the magical city of Atlantis, and he has glowing orange eyes, and super duper magic powers, and his bodyguard is his bestest friend ever. Almost immediately, I was like... this is not for me.
But then! Then the plot kicked in! It got good, and fast.
I'm pretty sure I guessed who the big bad of the trilogy is like, a couple of chapters in, but I'm super hoping I'm totally wrong, because I'd like to be completely surprised by the ending! I'm also guessing (hoping, praying,) that Max and Quinn get together, because they'd be the cutest couple ever!
The Hanged Man
I think this is going to be one of those series I need to buy physical copies of! I've already ordered a special edition of the first in the spin-off series, but the only editions I can find of the original trilogy are paperback. The covers look cool, though, so I might just get the paperbacks.
This one was absolutely as good as the first - it's incredible how the big climactic finale starts like, halfway through the book, and somehow doesn't lose pace, it just continues to build and build, despite being so long! This is an author who can keep you gripped!
I'm absolutely smitten with Max; and I am now just waiting for the revelation that Brand was involved (unwittingly, unknowingly) in the attack on the Sun Court/Rune, which is definitely coming.
The Hourglass Throne
I start the third book in my trash fantasy trilogy... and they're dealing with Covid. Seriously? I read fantasy specifically to escape the real world! It's supposed to be totally believable that the humans discovered Atlantis sixty years ago and fought a massive world-changing war against them, and now Atlantis is in Nantucket. But it would just be too unrealistic if they just didn't mention the pandemic in this unspecified timeline? His boyfriend has burgundy eyes and a metal prosthetic hand with magic powers, but sure, two metres apart. I just want his problems to be like, fantasy problems, not my problems.
Anyway.
So, it did not end the way I thought it would. In fact... it didn't really end at all. It felt like the book had finished, but not the series. He's still got to get the Tower back. He's still got to fulfil his HUGE new prophecy we've just found out about. He still has six of his nine attackers to discover, hunt down, and brutally murder. Is this... not a trilogy? Maybe there are going to be more books?
I was totally wrong about the person who organised the attack on him/his court. From the very first time he was mentioned, I was convinced that Lord Tower had actually orchestrated it all, and was playing the biggest double cross of all time. And then it turns out to be... well... no, I'm not sure? Was it meant to be Lady Time? Or do we still not know? There has got to be more books, because this really didn't explain anything.
My other guess from the first book was that Max and Quinn would get together. It hasn't happened, but the spin-off series is based around them, I believe, so there's time. I'm also so heartbroken that Quinn lost his powers, and I'm hoping he gets them back in the spin-off. Quinn is, easily, hands down, no question, the best character of the series, I absolutely adore him. I cannot, cannot wait to read his book!
Postscript.
Holy shit, I just looked it up and this isn't even nearly a trilogy! There are NINE books planned for the series, what the actual fuck. I thought I was going into a completed series! I can't believe I'm going to have to wait, what? six? ten? years for the series to be finished?! This will not do, I'm obsessed!

if you got complete control over DC and got to write a Jason solo comic, how would you go about it? or like what would be the story??
you're indulging me!
well, my first preference would probably be writing a jason-never-died elseworld and this is what i'm doing with my series robin vol 2. or something like 80s retroactive but longer, so essentially a robin jay series that we were robbed of.
but i'm presuming you are asking about what i would do with the main timeline... i guess if you've been following me for a while, nothing on this list will come as a surprise, because it's simply a combination of my own meta dressed in plot points... i'm just not sure how i would organise it, since i mostly think about these in terms of fanfiction, so it's a bit fragmented in my head. but i think it would be doable to combine those:
addressing the current mess in canon: unavoidable. i always imagined (and by always i mean i've had that image in my head for at least 5 years now) if i were to write a comicbook script for jay i would start with the classic simple layout showcasing the more sunny (early days robin jay's) version of gotham but with panels shaped like shattered glass imposing on it, displaying different contradicting pieces of canon and culminating with the question of who *the real* jason todd is, as a nod to countdown asking the same. dc actually attempted to do something when the infinite frontier was first introduced, it just wasn't very well executed... (and as far as i know the hypertime is still supposed to be relevant so it would work...)
since i already started talking about countdown it could also contain some multiversal insight into all the other worlds in which jason todd is alive.
or maybe an idea i once dropped here, with the mystical serpentine of magical fog (the one from the lost days and the end of the utrh when jason presumably is brought back to life once again) traveling through the scenes of flashbacks of other characters (perhaps even just a reflections of retcons!) tarnishing jason's memory when he's dead, cut to kid jay literally stirring in the coffin, and finally an adult jason waking up with a jolt in the final scene. so many options.
you get the image. i wish that dc utilised the weirdness of the meta in a serious way, and that the talk of the past was a talk of the history of comics in a sense... as i previously expressed here.
as you all know by now my reading of jason (and batman in general even) is mostly based on the 80s... and so it would be a love letter to this era. i would definitely want to include some robin jay stories there as well, maybe make jason investigate cases that date back to his childhood and are somehow interconnected, creating a bridge between the narratives and reconciling them.
ending what i call the long funeral - jason's era of remaining dead both socially and to the narrative. what i have in mind is an arc in which he is working on a case that seems to have to do with magic/ghosts, but that ultimately turns out to be a case of corruption and plain police brutality. two things here: i would want him to fuck up spectacularly so that he starts questioning his modus operandi and dedication to vigilantism in general. and it would set up the ground for the introduction of abolitionism and link the story to his early ethical framework.
a retirement arc. jason's proper come back to the crime alley and reintroduction to the land of living (the alley might be a graveyard to bruce but it's a home to jason...) and very importantly, a cast of civilians! leslie is definitely back. i would also love to use dana & denise, and maybe even some pre-crisis characters.
i would fridge bruce. put him out of commission basically, death or not. and i'm not saying batman jay era but actually i am saying batman jay era. (i once again can't find a link to the post explaining my bat jay agenda but if it's of your interest i can elaborate.)
a two-face story. about forgiveness or rather about the fact that it never quite passed. and about willis.
the themes... the motifs... you know me. ouroboros and self-mythologization and the sacrifice and catholicism (probably not in a way you think) and family duty. and politics. here you can also guess what i'm thinking about, and it's a revolutionary abolitionist turn.
and to conclude: big words but i would use jason to bring love back to the gotham lore and batman titles in general. he is a character that has always stood in the centre of both values and challenges that the story faced. if he's not treated with consideration and not taken seriously, nothing in it is.

FUNNY YOU SHOULD SAY THAT I was just thinking the other day how I should link you if not my general zero escape playlist that I'm still messing around with at least the zwg one since that has far fewer songs by comparison
I also only unlocked the ability to blorbo playlist like a year and a half ago or something?? Because I enjoy losing my mind mostly over lyrics when it comes to songs right and somehow there is not A SINGLE lyrical cover of any major ze music or even fansongs there's only two I could find and I did not like them so I had to make do somehow my brain learnt to project lol
okay listen. listen. listen.
firstly yes send me the zwg playlist i’ll put it on my tv and play it through my earpods and open my word document and think to myself “god damn it Diana why are you so hard to write dialogue for” (FOR THOSE OF YOU KEEPING TRACK! WE ARE NO LONGER GOD DAMNING SIGMA! SIGMA ANGST SCENES AND SIGMA + AKANE SCENES FLOW SO SMOOTHLY AND I’M SUPER HAPPY ABOUT IT! but Diana’s current vlr timeline characterization is making dialogue. stilted. if it’s not one thing it’s another.)
secondly. i was just thinking about how much of a god damn shame it is that i’ve never used the midi keyboard i got for christmas like two or three years ago and i came to the conclusion that i’m just Not A Musician. love music, very capable of vividly imagining choreography and music videos and my current daydream hyperfixation has me pretending that in another life i’m a successful cover artist (and also fully transitioned—less relevant).
but like. that love doesn’t translate into being able to create music. i don’t know what happened exactly but between me giving my first keyboard to my younger sister when she left for college (the musical theater major graduate who also Actually Composes Music) and getting the tiny midi keyboard with no compatible software i have completely lost the ability to even like, mimic music.
this has just been me ranting about something that makes me sad that i can’t stop focusing on (because NOW whenever i listen to FUCKING ANYTHING i am forced to imagine That Other Universe Kay covering the music and having friends) um. i lost the plot.
OH YEAB this is the part where i say “let’s make our own zero escape fansongs” except the whole lack of musical talent thing. HOWEVER (and i say this with zero evidence but that just means i have zero evidence to the contrary) I Fully Believe that if someone were to write lyrics to Blue Bird Lamentation and you were to sing those lyrics it would be beautiful.

finally made it to VEGAS (actually did ages ago. but i never finished my liveblog. shh)
Tumblr media
------
Tumblr media
this is my new best friend. i love him
Tumblr media
oh my god. they're elvis impersonators. this is an elvis gang. im going to lose my fucking mind
i completely dont understand how the music/timeline works in this world though. the bombs hit in 2077 i think?? so why is all the music from like, the 40s. why doesnt anyone know who elvis was. granted a post apocalyptic elvis gang forming around the reasonable assumption that a whole school dedicated to embodying this guy must've meant he was a religious leader of some kind is very funny. and this is 200 years after the war so its reasonable that people might not know much about pop culture as of like 270 years ago. but they know who dean martin and ella fitzgerald were? i dont get it at all
Tumblr media
yesssssss bring on the tacky neon signs!!! i am HERE for this
Tumblr media
why is this guy just out here dancing on a table in a random back hallway all by himself.... there's nobody here. are you lost
Tumblr media
also uh hi they straight up have women in cages in this casino. are we all just cool with this
i mean they're like, employed sex workers so they probably agreed to this but it's fucking weird. this whole place skeeves me out
Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyway things didn't go very well in the casinos. i forget which one this was because it happened in literally all of them. however i remain in good standing in all of them. theres just a lot going on all the time in new vegas
it looks like gomorrah i think its gomorrah. hate to be the janitor for this place. for a lot of reasons actually. but, moving on
Tumblr media
big fan of these guys and their goofy little dance routine i wish i could get video clips on my steamdeck
Tumblr media
I LITERALLY DIDN'T ASK
Tumblr media
me: hi im new in town
this lady: we are NOT cannibals
me: oh. so you're definitely cannibals, then
(they were)
(well. used to be and stopped but one guy was trying to convince everyone they should totally go back to doing cannibalism but i fucked up his plot and hes dead now) (i think. i actually dont remember if he got away or not but whatever)
Tumblr media
uh
am i. interrupting
Tumblr media
its pretty in here though
anyway so then i found benny, confused the shit out of him bc he did not expect me to be alive, tried to talk things out, didn't really understand anything he was saying to me, he tried to kill me Again, it didn't work Again (i killed all his guys) he made a run for it, im probably supposed to be mad but i just dont really care that much
Tumblr media
:( i know
Tumblr media
huh
who the fuck are you. literally why is caesar randomly deciding to forgive me. for no reason. after he's been sending assassins after me every five minutes for the entire game thus far. you have been a plague on my existence and also seem to be in the business of kidnapping, slavery, and rape, so, fuck you and fuck your forgiveness
i mean, im gonna go, but specifically just to fuck you up. y'all are gonna REGRET letting me in

rating esmp s2 endings
note: opinions are subjective to change in the future
katherine
7/10
wraps up her character arc
but it was Way too sudden at the ending
at least the allays were part of her established lore? which is good – there Is a little foreshadowing there, so it works plot-wise
i just wish katherine physically travelled to the allay forest instead of just being teleported there, and/or had to make Some negotiation with the allays to fix her curse (even if it is just the allays of the forest going “you rescued our people so we will help you”) – it feels like a cop-out to have it be done so fast, or at least even if the negotiation was fast, make it more Explicit
basically add more Show and less Tell to the epilogue and it works out okay, just genuinely wish it had a longer build-up
fwhip
8/10
fwhip has always been lighter on the Character arc, so it works out in the end
it didn’t have much of a build-up, and that was the main Downside
but it ends with everyone being relatively happy, so at least we have that
i just wonder if anyone will succeed fwhip as leader of gobland after this
joey
9/10
wraps up his character arc
i admit i haven’t watched joey’s pov since before the festival of the rift, so i am a few months behind on the lore and what has transpired
i just don’t know if the “sir piggles was secretly evil” plotline was foreshadowed in the episodes i missed, or if it was explained why – it stays 9/10 if it Was foreshadowed, and is dropped to 8/10 if it is Not
the shelby + katherine character relationship resolution Really came in clutch – i just wonder if his admitted envy to shelby was ever discussed in past episodes that i missed, but the plotline can still work without it being discussed Outright
shelby
9/10
wraps up her character arc
resolves most plot threads with adequate foreshadowing – the uncorruption was previously part of sausage’s arc in s1, the demon attack in a previous episode deals with the main antagonist of the arc, a hinted resolution in the romance arc, and an epilogue that segues into the wcsmp
my main issues with it are:
(1) the romance arc resolves with glimmergrove still being split light/dark, which would suggest it being resolved before the glimmergrove curse arc is resolved, which contradicts katherine’s own stance on romance at the festival of the rift – it is admittedly a minor background detail
(2) the timeline of the epilogue doesn’t add up with the wcsmp timeline on joey’s end of the lore – and tbh it works better with the reincarnation timeline imho
joel
5/10
i’m just confused about the established lore and thanking my lucky stars that i never tried to tackle stratos lore in my hc docs because What the Fuck Was That
the hermes plotline resolution was Way sudden and i don’t understand wtf was going on completely – it came pretty much out of nowhere and i feel that it might contradict some established statements?
no tribute to false in lower stratos? i feel robbed
but the lore fountain is plot-relevant, at least? so there Was something
i would still like to contest the whole is-jimmy-a-toy thing because nothing has been confirmed on jimmy’s side so far and i admit i am biased
tbh i have always been a bit confused by joel-lore, so i admit i am likely biased in my judgement
but i guess the rating might be upped to 7/10 with the context of joel-lore being joel-lore (aka confusing as usual)... just wish the hermes plotline wasn’t what Happened and gets explained more
but hey. i’ve seen bad endings before. i’ve seen Way worse endings than this. i can live with this... just need time to comprehend wtf happened here
known fates of the empires
the evermoore: afaik shelby spends more time there imbuing lost gnome souls into wood and eventually moves away to continue her specialized storm studies; presumably the evermoore is doing fine in her absence and shelby is happy, so that is all that matters
eversea: last seen invaded by skeletron’s army, but since joey leaves with katherine and shelby, both of whom are established to return to their empires, it can be presumed eversea is taken back from skeletron’s army, but its fate afterward is unknown, along with joey himself – though we do know joey will eventually die at some point and be reincarnated as the firefrost witch
glimmergrove: ruled over by its royal family, uncursed and happy
gobland: fwhip has stepped down as leader, new leader – if any – is unknown
stratos: joel has ascended to the lore sky to become a “true” god; presumably the lore city just runs itself?? god knows

#     REALWORLD  : when i'm at my wit’s end and i'm losing my head, you remind me of just how lucky i am. stats. playlist. pinterest.
gunhak was adopted by his maternal grandmother. preventative measures. involved in programs similar to 504 plans and ieps. kept a steady pace in primary school, kept to himself. lost to his imagination, often creating worlds with items found around the home. began drawing a little bit.
when he wasn’t in his head, he worked alongside his grandmother in local markets as a young boy / tween. while jinshil was the face and sweet talker, he was her right hand man. kept lists of everything, all the time. excelled in anything that had to do with vocabulary or timelines. would often help aunties and uncles with their stock and inventory. he even made her a logo for each stall!
eventually got into video games and watched a lot of gameplay from different youtubers. pewdiepie and his bpm videos, markiplier with the early oculus rift- he was enamored. kids and their expensive interests. character creation and roleplaying were favorites of his despite the content he consumed. imvu and ourworld were favorites before he got his hands on, or in, kwangya. his holiday / birthday gifts reflected these hobbies. art supplies, journals to write, games to play, currency for some game . . . these characters were always completely different than who he was, though they were always extensions of himself. when he wasnt in school, instead of helping out in markets like he would prior, he was tucked away in his room online
with gunhak not around helping like he had been before, his grandmother injured herself at work and continued to strain with large loads and overextension when she needed rest. he wouldnt know about this until she fell ill in the home from an infection left unattended. this physical and eventual physical struggle startled gunhak into his first job
again, left unattended, jinshil would continue to push too hard and too far. more falls and more injuries created frustration and strain in the home. gunhak needed to work because she could not, but he needed an eye for jinshil. this resulted in him reaching out to his cousin for help.
after layers and layers of his life unfolded for his cousin to learn and understand, all three eventually ended up moving to a new space for work. providing care for their grandmother would become a part time job for the pair.
gunhak never finishes high school, though he never really had any academic drive so this isnt the biggest loss to him. now his grandmother receives disability while he and his cousin work together. they’re more successful than he is, graduated and back in school, a steady job.
he always had his eye on synk but never the money for it. eventually, as a motivator, his cousin says they'll buy him synk if he finishes his ged and continues to work. uh, fuck yeah he’s going to do it.
the pattern of addiction in his family does not end and it shows by how frequently he's online. when he's not working, he's in game. sure, work is completed and courses are attempted- oftentimes cheated through, but gunhak does what's asked of him! maybe just not in the way they expected of him. oh well. #     CONNECTIONS  : kind of floundering here, but i'll update if i think of something! i'll also add to the list established connections for tracking purposes.
HOUSEMATE. zoey is currently living in an apartment that he shares with his cousin and their grandmother. honestly- does not even have to be an actual cousin, just some sort of dynamic along those lines. would not mind tweaking to me a friend from school who wanted to help out. it's a little awkward, they have more money than him, and they're just a tad older. plot#01 something akin to catfishing is what's going on here. zoey takes pride in the way he creates his ae's. they're stunning, like when ashley introduces bella to the cullens kind of alluring. not that he himself isn't handsome, but there's definitely a disconnect between himself and these models. perhaps he and your muse hit it off in some world and agree to meet up! plot#02 zoey is already addicted, like, for real, but this person does not help his case in the slightest. they jump verses together frequently and lose hours to them. when he isn't online, he's thinking of them. he would never label it as a crush, but when he see them with another player... ouch.

Tainted love
I’ve been reading a really fun series, but there’s a recurring element that just... doesn’t sit well with me. The main villain is a man so obsessed with a woman (who doesn’t love him back) that he’s not only willing to kill people to try and “save” her, but will also destroy time itself just for the chance to be with her.
A secondary villain is likewise obsessed with someone who doesn’t love them. She, too, will kill people (specifically the woman she thinks stands in her way), will betray all her friends, and will destroy the timeline to get what she wants. She’ll also kill people and destroy treasured possessions just to spite the woman who got the man she thought of as hers.
A throw-away plot villain was so enraged to learn his wife cheated on him with his brother that he set fire to his own house in an attempt to either burn her and her (illegitimate) child or to wait by the exit to kill them there. And naturally he tried to kill his brother, too.
A hero became so overwrought after losing the woman he loved that he just sort of curled in on himself and retreated, building a life for himself that included pretending she was still there. He made meals for two, he talked to her, etc.
A secondary hero attempted to commit suicide ten years to the day after he lost the woman he loved.
And this is all in one series. The plots themselves are really interesting, but the author’s approach to love is fucking creepy. There may be a few pseudo-healthy relationships mixed in, but they’re so far in the background they’re easy to forget and never take center stage.
It doesn’t seem to be an attempt to illustrate any kind of point. Except maybe “love can drive you to destruction,” but that isn’t really what I’d call useful. There’s basically no balance to be found here; the love stories are all tragic and/or toxic.
There’s nothing wrong with “love gone wrong” as a trope and it can be used very effectively (Miss Havisham, Anakin Skywalker, etc) but having so much concentrated in one place is off-putting. It’s also sort of disheartening in general. I keep thinking of modern US sitcoms where the married couples are so nasty to each other under the guise of being “funny.” Or those scattered articles talking about how it’s “normal” to hate your spouse.
I’m not sure I really have a point to this, beyond finding it all a little sad to see love treated as something dangerous. Or even imaginary. I’m developing even more sympathy for the romance genre which, surprise, is met with derision by a lot of people. I can understand wanting that kind of simplicity. Even when the stories get convoluted they still generally end with A and B getting together and being happy about it.
It’s also kinda funny to be writing this because I am frequently frustrated with otherwise good stories that feel compelled to shove a romance into the plot and keep implying that people are happier when they’re in love. These toxic elements seem to show the opposite of that and holy hells, just have some nice middle ground somewhere. Love is nice, I’m sure, but it isn’t necessary in order for someone to be “complete” and it also doesn’t make people violent and irrationally possessive.

Doctor Who, but Chronologically 8
HAHAHA so it turns out that episode with Tennant and Martha visiting Shakespeare was, in fact, the first of a two-parter! Because it’s now 1612, thirteen years later, and apparently sixty fucktillion Carrionites pretending to be witches and breaking through into London has led to witch hunting hysteria in the UK. Enter the Doctor.
Who is now officially a woman! Well, it’s not a surprise, we’d had two previous references to him being a woman sometimes. This time she complains that if she were still male people would listen to her, which is certainly true, but seems an odd clash with “Just act like you own the place”, which is what Martha did not one hour ago. I don’t know, it’s almost like this two-parter was written over a decade apart by two completely different writers with entirely different agendas for totally separate productions.
Meanwhile, we seem to be rich in companions. Three of them now! All new. Including Ryan, the most beautiful man I have ever seen, because I am bisexual and weak. As is King James, who has fallen wildly in love with him, played to perfection by Alan Cumming. These companions are excellent, though - they all keep proclaiming they have a very flat team structure and loving and supporting each other, which again, is very different from the I-know-best-ness of both Matt “I am the Doctor and I will tell you what to do” Smith and Peter “None of you are worth my time” Capaldi, so the current guess for the timeline is Capaldi-Smith-Tennant-Whittaker. Must be. Stands to reason.
This version of the Doctor also seems to actually enjoy travelling AND is apparently physically incapable of not trying to interfere and help. So far Capaldi’s Doctor has had to be bullied into getting off his ass and helping people by his companions (especially Clara). Whittaker, though, tells her little gaggle of companions not to interfere with history approximately 0.6 seconds before yeeting herself at escape velocity speeds into a lake to try and save a woman who is in the process of being drowned by a cowardly serial killer. I am not convinced her companions could have stopped her even if they’d all sat on her. It would have simply compressed her enthusiasm into a smaller space until she physically manifested snakes into Mistress Savage’s corset.
Also the eventual plot twist is Don’t Cut Down Trees which I am ALL OVER as a plot twist, my god, 12 out of 10. And especially appropriate given that this project is, essentially, Let’s Watch The Show As Though I Am A Tree Observing These Events.
Let’s update the board! Hanging plot threads:
“She” (an unknown person) is returning (perhaps River returned as Missy)
There is something on Donna’s back
An entire planet, Pyrovilia, just... disappeared, somehow. (Maybe because the TARDIS is exploding??? NEW INFO: Saturnine was also lost, and that WAS because of the TARDIS exploding.)
Amy is maybe dead
The Doctor has been cubed (he’s out, but how?)
River is possibly blown up  (unless she’s Missy)
The TARDIS has blown up  (It’s fine now)
The universe appears to have ended  (the universe is back again)
The Doctor has employed(?) Nardole
There’s a vault in the TARDIS and it contains Missy but we don’t know why
What has happened to all these companions and where are the new ones coming from?
There’s an immortal Viking girl now
Who/what is the Half-Faced Man that the Doctor talked about?
Why, when the Doctor saw the ship’s computer set to the Promised Land, did he say “Oh not again”?
What’s With The Silence?
Why was Rory entirely unconcerned by the entire world suddenly going silent when that is Not Normal and should have been, at the very least, extremely disconcerting?
Who is Rose and why is she not here?
What did the Doctor do to Queen Lizzie One?
No new arc, but it’s weird how none of these are getting resolved. I don’t know, it’s almost like this is a fucking stupid way to watch this show.

Soooo
I have finished the timeline for my FNAF Band AU...
Sort of.
I have specified the years when the events take place, I have an estimate of how far away from each other are the events that take place in the same year.
Heck, I had to google yearly school calendars from the USA to make sure I didn't screw up.
I had to go through all of the fnaf lore again just to make sure I didn't miss any important events.
I investigated the differences between an agent and a manager, what they are supposed to act according to the law, and how they actually work because no one gives a damn about laws.
Had to look up the inner workings of Record Labels.
And it's all going great.
I even have a use for Vanessa.
BUT
I have no clue whatsoever on how to include Gregory, the Glamrocks, Sun and Moon, DJ Music Man and Lefty.
I have no clue on how to translate Charlie's murder into the plot.
But, I managed to translate the bite of 83 into Evan suffering of vocal cord paralysis.
Buuuut then again, unfortunately I need to play the your mother died card to make sure the story takes place so, sorry mrs. Afton.
But the important thing here is:
That I have the years from 1963 to 2021 covered.
Although, nothing really interesting happens from 1963 to 1980. Could fill that void with how William and Henry met, OR give William trauma.
Or I could just make him an asshole because yeah.
Have I seen other people trying to make a webseries based on FNAF where no murder takes place, the animatronics are human teenagers entering a band competition and became a goddamn mess because it lost every little thing that connected the show to the actual game and it's actually the reason why I started writing this AU???
Tumblr media
Yes.
Did I learn from the show's mistakes and wrote a storyline instead of going "hey viewer, you get to decide what's next, even if it absolutely trails off from the original plot!" so that it doesn't trail off from the original source material???
Yes.
Am I aware of the fact that the FNAF fandom is going to make fun of it, correct me on the lore and overall be annoying???
Yes.
Do I realize that everyone who knew what FNAFHS was, regardless of whether they are or aren't part of the FNAF fandom will turn me into a laughing stock if I somehow find a way of turning this into an animated web series???
Yes.
Do I myself find FNAFHS cringy but recognize it has a special place in my heart because I loved it back then???
Of course.
Were some of the songs actually amazing???
YES.
Do I realize it was a jukebox series?
Obviously.
Am I going to post lil vids introducing the characters on Tik Tok anyway???
Absolutely.
Just to clarify tho, the original idea was to find a way to fit in the Afton's in fnafhs, but when I was writing Michael's backstory I said "fuck it" and wrote a whole new series so yeah. This isn't a fnafhs remake or reboot, it's a whole different thing.
(do I secretly want people to ask me about my au? yes.)
Because you know, singing competitions are a common trope.
Update:
The AU has a name now All-Star AU or something, it's a placeholder, but who knows, maybe it will stick.
Solved the issues with everyone in Security Breach.
Lefty and Sammy? No, they have ceased to exist.
Εverything prior to the beginning of the story is complete.
The main conlicts have been stablished.
Currently focusing on writing the Τoy and OG animatronics.
But my biggest problem right now is:
I suck at character design.
I know I need to write the character first then focus on design buutttttt I'm not that good at drawing, specially since l've stopped drawing for a really long time.
Can't get in contact with the friend who supposedly wanted to help. And in terms of money: I've got no money.
So paying someone else is impossible.
Why do I need help? Just look at my Michael doodles
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't decide on a design for Michael because somehow they all look different and the same?
Welp, as I said. I'm just going to focus on writing the goddamn protagonists first.
And just to clarify once again; this is not a fnafhs au, remake, fix it, or reboot.
It's a FNAF AU.
FNAF AIl-Star AU.
(I literally have nothing else to say)

Hello !
I was wondering whether you could rate and tell us of your top 5 favourite webnovels/cnovels of all time ?! (Sorry if this has already been answered lol😅)
Thank you, stay safe and have a nice day🖤
Awww, thank you and that is such a lovely ask!!!
From n1 to n5, here they are (they happen to be all danmei.)
1. The Husky and His White Cat Shizun (2ha) - my n1 forever and ever.
Taxian Jun, the horrific cultivation emperor of the world who razed cities and destroyed sects, is surrounded on his mountain. The righteous sects are terrified to confront him but tired of living, Taxian Jun consumes poison and dies by suicide at the age of 32. And opens his eyes as 16 year old Mo Ran, Mo Ran long before he became Taxian Jun, Mo Ran who is excited at a chance to save the one person he loved and lost. Oh, and to deal with his loathed shizun, the unapproachable and strict Chu Wanning, his past life’s biggest enemy.
I have no idea if it’s objectively the best on this list but it hits every trope I love, its bleak worldview (the world will change only incrementally but that’s enough, average person will not appreciate the sacrifice but it’s still worthwhile, and love is worth everything) mirrors mine, and the sheer complexity of the plot and cascade of plot twists each of which is insane and yet completely logical, is amazing (this is a rare novel where it’s even more fun to reread than read for the first time because you keep seeing all the hints and trail crumbs laid out that you did not see the first time.)
And the characters!!! I mean, this novel has multiple universes/timelines, a side trip to the Underworld AND the demon realm, a plot more twisted than a store’s worth of pretzels and yet the thing that hits me the most are the characters. Mo Ran is my favorite web novel character of all time and I love Chu Wanning so. All the secondary characters are wonderfully written (and some of them made me bawl) and they are all complex. My opinion of all of them changed many times over; the novel doesn’t make it easy to love some of them but then you do and it’s so worthwhile! That slow change is one of the delights of the novel - I started out disliking the unpleasant, superior Chu Wanning and cruel, callow Mo Ran and then I loved them so so hard and cried for them so so hard and was in awe of their heroism and sacrifice and selflessness and capacity to love.
Oh, and the fact that this novel does something almost impossible - it has its protagonist start out as so clearly irredeemable and then slowly and painfully and thoroughly redeems him (without ever letting the reader forget what it is he needs redemption for.)
Also, for a novel that made me cry so hard I felt ill, this book is just so damn funny with the most sarcastic sense of humor imaginable (the serious angst doesn’t even kick in until 90+ chapters!)
Anyway I should stop or I will write a dissertation. But this is the one web novel that I would put in my top 5 not just web novels but any novels in any shape or form. The plentiful trigger warnings are there for a reason so stay away if they are an issue, but if not, if anyone hasn’t read it yet, what are you doing with your life?!
2. Stains of Filth (Yuwu) - another novel by the author of 2ha. Clearly she just pushes all my buttons every time. This one is much shorter and has a plot that is twisty but less twisty than 2ha. Still, all that means is that intensity and the pain are more concentrated.
Aristocratic Mo Xi and former slave Gu Mang were both legendary generals of the empire and lovers. But Gu Mang betrayed the country and switched to the enemy. Now he is back as a peace offering by that country and Mo Xi has to deal with the fact that his feelings are as strong as ever.
This novel!!! So much pain and intensity!!! So many amazing plot twists and supporting characters. The same bleak world view, the same unjust society, the same protagonists doing right things despite the cost. Mo Xi’s intensity and inability to let go (he’s imprinted on Gu Mang and that’s it) is romantic, bone-shakingly intense, and tragic all at once. And oh Gu Mang! So many times I just wanted to reach into the book physically to protect him. The novel deals with unjust societies, memory versus personality, what it’s like to be good in a bad universe etc. And it both made me sob and giggle, repeatedly, and sold me on literally death-defying (but not honor-defying!) love.
Oh, and special shout out to the fact that like 2ha, you may start out hating some characters and end up a rabid fangirl (cough Murong Lian!)
3. Qiang Jin Jiu - a dense political tome that takes a while to get going but then it’s a runaway train.
In a fictional dynasty, Shen Zechuan, the only remaining son of a disgraced aristocratic family and Xiao Chiye, the younger son of a family of generals guarding the border join forces (and then something else) to get power and pull down the dysfunctional system.
This is so elegant and smart (a rare web novel I’d recommend to anyone who just loves solid period fiction) and you probably need a notebook to keep track of the politics and military strategy. These characters are very very smart not just because the author says so.
As to the characters, there is a large cast and I love many of them, but for me the novel is made by Shen Zechuan and Xiao Chiye. SZC is gorgeous and delicate and icy and can kill you before you have time to blink. Saddled with the sins of the family he had no pleasant interaction with, he claws his way out of hell (seeing the sinkhole he was trapped in, literally as well) to take down those who wronged him but also to amass power so all the tragedy and corruption won’t happen again and the whole rotten system comes crashing down. XCY is a military genius who is trapped as a hostage in the capital because the court doesn’t trust his family. He longs to return to the plains of home and to take his rightful place. The two men start out as bitter enemies, then reluctant and sniping allies, then as friends and eventually as one of the most gorgeous, tender, swoony OTPs.
Anyway this is one is a bona fide masterpiece, equal parts smart and emotionally intense.
4. Wu Chang Jie - are you an emotional vampire? I am and this novel is a banquet.
In a highly fantastical setting, we meet our protagonists - the sunny Xie Bian and the intense and surly Fan Wushe. Xie Bian is a human who assists his master in conveying souls to the underworld and making sure no mishaps happen. Bian is concentrated sunshine in human form and to meet him is to love him. When the novel opens, his drunk master brings back another human to be his shidi and assist with duties - said human is uncommunicative, intense and surly Wushe. Bian is excited to have a shidi but little does he know that a story dealing with the horrors of past lifetime is about to start.
Anyway, why WCJ? So many reasons. It has such a dark bleak worldview - this world is a horrifying system where powerful cannibalize each other’s cores for an impossible chance to ascend, where gods have sealed off their realm and all that’s left is neverending human misery and hell (the only way you’d see a deity is if they’d been sent down to suffer over and over and over), where even reincarnation doesn’t fix things and bad acts are often unpunished. And the novel then asks - is it worth being a good person in such a world? More, is it worth being a good person in such a world when nothing good has ever happened to you and you have been repeatedly betrayed due to your goodness? And the answer, on Bian’s part, is an uncompromising yes.
Ah yes, the other reason to love this novel - the protagonists and their fucked up fucked up relationship. Bian (who was Prince Ziheng in the past life) is so genuinely good. But he is that rare thing - good but not saintly, noble but not cloying. So much of the novel is his getting taken apart over and over and barely able to put himself back together every time but his soul is still as amazing as ever.
And then there is Wushe (who was Prince Zixiao in past life, Ziheng’s not-bio-related brother.) Wushe is not a good person. He is a monster. And he loves Bian/Ziheng more than his life and his soul and the entire world but he’s also the one who hurt him more than anyone else ever could and did it over and over. His love survived a literal century of torture in the worst kind of hell and refused the usual memory loss of new life. But it also humiliated and broke Ziheng down to his constituent parts.
One of the things that is so fascinating to me about this novel is the question of what can be forgiven/what should be forgiven/what kind of expiation is enough/can you ever love someone who you loved so much and then he hurt you so badly and is now repentant? And it never sweeps trauma under the rug or hand waves it away but deals with it head on.
If you want healthy relationships, you should stay far away from this novel but if intense insane ones with a feral barely human one capable of destroying the world leashed by love and guilt to the sane deeply good one is your bag, come right in.
There is also the world building and the fact that yes, the big fall out between Ziheng x Zixiao is based on not knowing all the facts but it’s not “why can’t you talk?! This is dumb!” But is totally in keeping with both events and their characters. It’s reasonable for Ziheng to do what he does and for Zixiao to misunderstand and decide Ziheng is now his biggest enemy (but still one he’s fixated on) and for Ziheng to never be able to clarify.
Anyway, once again this is trigger warning central so please heed those, but if they are no issue, this one is wonderful.
5. OK, this is hard and switches between Sha Po Lang, Heaven Official’s Blessing and The Golden Stage depending on my mood. So what the hell, I am gonna write about all of them.
Sha Po Lang - so smart and so much clever world building. There is enough politicking to satisfy a Qiang Jin Jiu fan, it’s steampunk, and our two protagonists - Gu Yun, the empire’s most powerful general, who’s loyal to the empire despite being badly wronged by it, and Chang Geng, a cursed prince with barbarian blood and horrifying childhood - are wonderful separately and together. This is a huge slow burn but it’s totally worth it! They fall in love with each other’s hearts and brains and ability as much as anything. (Yes, this is the one with the yifu thing. Gu Yun is made Chang Geng’s foster father when he rescues him and brings him back to the capital as a way to keep CG safe in imperial strife. They are 12 and 19 at the time so clearly it’s never a parental relationship.)
Heaven Official’s Blessing (TCGF) - I love it’s sprawling narrative and cast, I love its inventive setting and picaresque story. It’s hilarious and can make me cry. But the novel’s place on this list is due to Xie Lian who is part Kenshin part drama WWX part pure goodness wrapped in heartbreak and trauma wrapped in sunshine.
The Golden Stage - two smart and principled (yes, they both have principles different though they may be) men navigate their arranged marriage, their past friendship and their past break up, become a super couple (one of the healthiest danmei couples I’ve ever read and proves healthy doesn’t have to be boring), save the country and bring down the emperor or two and just generally this is my rainy day book.
I guess I didn’t write as much for the three n5 candidates as I did for 1-4 but my brain is beginning to curdle so...

no ur right, 0 killed any character growth tucker had, completely changed the relationship between wash and lina, dont get me started on wash's charactertization... it was so clear that they just chose the most popular characters from the og serries to sell the "its still rvb" thingy. like, i watched it too and it wastn bad! i could even grow to like a lot of the characters BUT its not rvb! if they had made it a different show, or at the least made it like the PSAs, then i wouldnt care. but i just cant stand it when they call it rvb, its not! IT ISNT EVEN MADE IN HALO! i hat the stupid walk aniimations and how they never stand and talk and how tucker lost the most iconic thing of the series to fucking plot armor and how none of the plot makes sense! you have every right to be dissapointed and mad at 0
Sorry for such a slow reply - my half-asleep brain opened the ask at 3am, decided to answer it in the morning, but by then I had forgotten all about it.
Yep! I talk about it more in depth in my review, but Wash, Carolina and Tucker just feels like they've been added in to be "proof" of it being RvB - and it's basically the only connection Zero has to the title. But they are used as props at the cost of the character development. It was... ugly to watch, honestly.
I am absolutely *awe* of how someone made the decision to have the opening lines of Zero be the retconning of Wash's brain injury - the thing that has been a main plot focus of the last two seasons.
The iconic "do you ever wonder why we're here?" is nothing against Zero's:
"Hey, what's he doing here?"
"Who? Zander? Oh, I can't stand him. He's one of those guys that says irregardless. So don't get me started."
"No. Major Washington. I thought he was forced to retire because of his, you know, brain."
"One: rude. And two: I heard they fixed that a long time ago using cutting edge robotics and old kitchen appliances. He's got superpowers now."
Those are the opening lines. They opened this season with retconning. This is the grace and respect they treated the original RvB seasons with. This is how they decided to OPEN THE NEW SEASON. This is the first thing we meet.
This is my main issue. Not just the retconning here, but what it comes with it. People are allowed to like Zero and maybe they like the new characters, I don't know, I don't care, but how can this be defended?
The very first lines illustrate that they did not care about the RvB in its title. They had a story - totally disconnected to the rest of RvB - with new super powered characters and they were gonna tell it, no matter what. It doesn't matter if it fit the world building, the timeline, the writing style, the character development, the animation style of RvB - because that's over, baby, this is all new, and better, and oh why don't you like it, why are you haters?
Sorry, I got mean there. But those opening lines... It makes me mad and it makes me sad, and it makes me throw up my hands in frustration. As someone with a master's in literary and media analysis, as a published author, but most importantly, as a fan of RvB.

EDIT: so I started writing this like a week ago, but honestly the finale killed any desire in me to interact with this show in a fannish way. So have these half assed notes. I think it's obvious where I lost steam. These ideas are free for use for anyone who wants them in fic, have at you. As it is, I don't think I'll interact with this show as a fan any further than this.
How I would write a Loki show in bullet points (and a mishmash of short scenes and dialogue, let's be honest) for my sanity!
Presuming some disney exec came down from on high and forced the inclusion of EG!Loki and the TVA (because otherwise it'd be IW!Loki that survived and it'd be all about him finding his best life away from Earth, Asgard, Thor and the whole Thanos/EG situation. Or if I only had to include the TVA, it'd be IW!Loki dealing with the TVA, not EG!Loki):
Fair warning: this will likely be a mess since I'm not entirely motivated to not have it be so.
[cut for length]
Ep1:
- Loki escapes to Nidavelir and uses the tools there to get rid of the chains and muzzle. A CONTROLLED use of the Tesseract, thankyouverymuch
- the TVA comes for him and Loki is wary and on the alert, exhausted from the whole Avengers thing so he immediately makes a clone to interact with the TVA and observes from afar
- the TVA fall for it when they try to bitchslap him like in the show, but immediately regroup when it goes through the illusion and start a search pattern. Their tech can scan for his temporal aura and they close in on Loki quickly (show the TVA as at least somewhat competent or they're shit antagonists for Loki)
- Loki, who still has hold of the Tesseract, portals out of there
- what follows is a quick chase scene across multiple planets and realms, but the TVA are always on his heels. The longest time they take to find him is during an ongoing apocalypse on a random planet that's enough for Loki to get a quick breather. but you know, disaster's on the horizon, so he has to leave eventually. but this is the first clue both we as an audience and Loki get about potential hiding places.
- when an exhausted Loki finally turns to fight, he manages to take several minutemen out  (justifying B-15's hate on for him) before one of them gets in a lucky shot and freezes him
- "Who are you people?" [short flash of Loki's eyes flashing green and the entire scene getting a strange cast, floating energy swirling around everything. It's beautiful, but the TVA people's energy is out of sync, out of touch and strangely jagged compared to their surroundings]
- they slap the collar on him and march him into the TVA
- Loki immediately tries to pull the same illusion trick but it doesn't work cause no magic in the TVA (maybe some visual indication of what he's trying to do, but it doesn't go past his skin. You know, like Sylvie managed in ep 3 -.-)
- he doesn't wildly panic, but we see his breathing speed up and he immediately looks at his left hand and relaxes when he sees it isn't turning blue.
- okay so the TVA have caught him, he's on their shit list, no magic, exhausted, no idea what's going on, who these people are or how powerful they are - he chooses to play nice for now and bide his time
- the whole intake process is spent in quiet observation mode, only speaking when spoken to
- discomfort at being out of his clothes, but maybe only a wry joke about them wanting to strip him naked (making him a participant in all the thirst jokes)
- he doesn't ask if a lot of people don't know they're robots like a child wanting validation and he's not visibly afraid. Instead, we see him look at his hand again and try for wry humor when asking. But he steps into the device without much hesitation. It's death vs certainty and we already know he's chosen death once before.
- the propaganda cartoon is much shorter and plays in the background so we can see Loki's incredulous eyebrow raise at it. the ticket thing gets an eyeroll, but ready compliance since it's not worth it to argue
- when he sees the other guy get "pruned", he immediately reaches for the ticket to reassure himself it's there, but doesn't wave it around triumphantly, just sighs in relief
- trial can stay mostly unchanged, just no stupid magic attempt in the middle
"It's not your story, Mr. Laufeyson, it never was" (AND THIS SHALL BE PROVEN FALSE, you know, unlike in the show where it turned out to be their fucking mission statement) also, Loki gives her murder eyes for calling him that
- in fact, instead of trying magic, Loki holds up the controller he stole from  B-15 as she was escorting him to the trial and waves as he disappears through a door backwards
After that scene is the church scene with bodies, establishing Mobius as a hunter of dangerous variants. Someone is killing TVA officers
Mobius gets called back as in canon, but arrives too late to stop our Loki from leaving
Sidenote: Loki still has the tesseract since it was in his pocket dimension during the fight the TVA nabbed him in
Ep 2:
- it's now a few days/weeks later. Loki is back in his own clothes, a simpler outfit not geared for war. He's in the biggest library in the universe, the depository of almost all knowledge, looking for information about the TVA. there is Nothing, suspiciously so
- once again, the TVA shows up and he has to run yet again. maybe he kills this team too, to buy himself more time. he steals a melt stick and more time pads and reset charges
- he needs more information and the only place he'll get it is at the TVA it seems, so he shapeshifts into his female form, dressed as one of the many paperpushers at the TVA and we see her being relieved that the spelled clothing is holding once she passes through the time door
(another aside, but ideally the female form is more like Eva Green or Katie McGrath. AND NOT BLONDE)
- acting like she belongs, Loki effortlessly manages to snoop around the TVA for a few hours
- there's only one close call with C-20, but Loki manages to deflect suspicion by parroting the motto at her, which Loki reads from a nearby propaganda poster (cause Loki is good at lying, manipulation and flying by the seat of their pants)
- eventually, she ends up at the archive area and begins researching. We see that Loki is competent at this and is quick to pick up the filing system. the variant number from the papers she signed the episode before becomes relevant to finding the appropriate files
- before she can dig too deep into her own life story as laid out by these people, just as she finds the Ragnarok Report, Mobius finds her (maybe there was a silent alarm triggered by unauthorized access or something. Slightly more competent TVA)
- there is a scene where Mobius and Loki play a game of chicken and manipulation, wordplay and lying until it becomes clear Mobius knows who Loki is (actually establishing some camaraderie)
- Loki gets a little hoisted by their own petard since they're enjoying the banter so much, the backup Mobius called for catches them a little off guard, collared again
- since info gathering is still the name of the game, Loki doesn't try to get away just yet
(during this entire scene, Mobius is the same offhandedly condescending prick he is in canon, but it's very obviously framed that way)
(also featuring confirmation of the genderfluidity thing because fuck you disney)
M: "Nice disguise. Really had me fooled for a second there."
L: "It's hardly a disguise. I am always myself."
[Loki shifts back to male, though the clothes remain the same (shifting =/= magic)]
M: "Yeah, well, next time you want to go undercover at the TVA, maybe don't choose a face we already have from several other of your variants."
[Loki twitches a little, since that wasn't a form he openly wore a lot (even when he wanted to) cause Asgard is a dick about shifting genders]
L: "And how does that work exactly?"
M: "Got your entire life on file, buddy. But you know, sometimes Asgard isn't a complete stick in the mud the day you gather enough courage to show up to dinner in a dress. We usually have to prune those timelines quickly."
[Loki's grin is more like a snarl, frozen on his face, since he picks up the implications loud and clear (the implication being that him being too happy is not allowed in the Sacred Timeline)]
M: [picks up the files Loki was looking at] "Come on, I've got something to show you."
-cue time theater scene
-that little scene of looking out at the TVA does not feature Loki being impressed or awed at the TVA's tech. It features him being scared/uneasy because the TVA is completely dead to his senses. Loki's eyes do the same flash as before, but everything is completely dull, no energy anywhere. He can barely see some swirls on his own arms]
-Loki asks why this charade, Mobius tells him the TVA is willing to come to an agreement with Loki for his help
"You're not the only one running around messing up the Sacred Timeline. Come on, job interview time."
(it's really really not)
- Mobius tries the same schtick as before, but it's both less and more effective. Less cause Loki has had a bit more time to collect himself since the invasion, more cause he's more aware of the TVA's power and has been chased by them for a while now
- we see Loki being affected by the Frigga thing BUT he also picks up how edited the reel is
- still, he lets Mobius do the "only thing you're good for" bit until we see him look up with murder in his eyes, even through the tears
- "I am going to burn this place to the ground and I am going to start with you. That is my bargain."
"Yeah, cause your "bargains" [Mobius full on air quotes here] work out so well for you," he says, offering Loki a hand up
-cue alarm and Mobius rushing out
-Loki grabs the files Mobius left behind, and also the tape in the hologram projector and escapes
- no infinity stones scene, cause Loki still has the Tesseract and doesn't go to look for more
- cut to the TVA running around in a panic, multiple branches forming on the displays. It's the same bombing plot as in the show, but now serving as a distraction for Loki to get away
- when they figure this out, Ravonna: "You should have just pruned him when you found him. There's a reason we don't reset Loki variants. Our luck always runs out eventually with them. Fix this, Mobius. Or you'll have to answer to the TimeKeepers."
- back to Loki, he steps out into chaos as something explodes behind him. He's in another apocalypse. During his running from the TVA, he noticed it takes them longer to find him whenever there's a lot of chaos around him, death and destruction. He finds a still intact building, seems high tech. Everyone else has already evacuated
- he takes the Tesseract out and blue and green energy surges around him and engulfs the building. It's suddenly quiet and we see outside the windows are pitch black
- Loki quickly looks away
"Finally, some peace and quiet."
He slumps down to the floor, files scattered around him, tesseract nearby and curls up, dejected and exhausted
Side note: Loki doesn't need to worry about recharging tempads since he has the tesseract, which was established in Avengers as able to provide infinite energy
Ep 3:
- he finds out about the variants in this episode, maybe goes looking for other variants before the TVA finds them
-how Loki finds out the TVA are all variants: he'd knocked out B-15 for a bit to interrogate her
-they're found by another team of minutemen, led by B-16, who is wearing B-15's face. Several of the other minutemen we've seen Loki kill in earlier episodes as well. They attack *both* of them cause they assume B-15 is compromised. Loki and B-15 work together and kill the whole lot, staring at each other incredulously
"You're Variants! You're all Variants!"
[B-15 collapses to her knees in shock]
End episode
EDIT: My basic idea for episodes 4 & 5 were Loki and B-15 working together and travelling through various timelines trying to get to the TimeKeepers, but realizing something was wrong the further they went. Time begins breaking down, paradoxes are all over the place and the TVA keeps pruning some specific place so much that sometimes two teams are on top of each other. Stuff like that.
I also had a few scenes where Loki meets other variants (that aren't him), but who actually like and even love him. Men, women, variations thereupon, and one or two who would mistake Loki for their Loki. So we get bi confirmation without actually including romance in the show itself, because 6 episodes isn't enough to develop that along with everything else that's going on.
Vaguely outlined here:
My "how to include the bi thing without the main story being a romance and also indicating that Loki is able to be liked and loved by people who aren't just variants of himself, please and thank you":
(note to self, rewrite this so it makes sense lol EDIT: lol, don't feel like it so this is all you get, folks!)
a variant significant other, male: kisses Loki
Loki: You are clearly my type, but I'm sorry. I'm not him.
[heartbroken expression on the variant]
from another timeline Loki visits:
woman holding a sword to his head after looking at him suspiciously: Change back!
Loki: Into who?!
woman: Her!
[Loki shapeshifts into his female self]
woman lets go of the sword
"You escaped! When Odin took you away, I thought he would kill you. Why did you never come back to me, my love?"
EDIT: My "twist" ending was that the Time Keepers were dead, not that they never existed. Some sort of mcguffin exists to just break the whole TVA and free the timelines. Idk, maybe the TVA was just a test to see if it'd work, but the system just kept perpetuating itself after the power hungry losers kept it going beyond the bounds of the experiment. Either way:
villain plot twist: the time keepers are long dead. the TVA is a terrible system that perpetuated itself on its own, only a few judges were aware that the timekeepers had ever died. The entire System Has To Go (lol like disney would ever go there)
The system is literally Killing the Universe, since the universe's natural state of being is a multiverse. But the system don't care, system don't give a shit. System only exists to perpetuate itself, system's survival is the most important, catastrophic universal failure need not apply
(this is way too on the nose for disney, but since this rewrite's motto is Fuck Disney, it shall stay)
EDIT: this was how I imagined the climax of the series.
Mobius or Ravonna (i never decided): "All the chaos, all the possibilities? How can you stand the uncertainty? How can you believe the world will be any better than it is now?"
Loki: "Because it has to be!" [smashy smashy TVA]
series ends with the timeline breaking free
we see various scenes of the variants in their former lives, happy
and AU scenes of the previous movies:
Loki gets pulled up on the bridge
Loki accepts Thor's offer during the Avengers
Loki gets up on Svartalfheim, bleeding heavily, but doesn't go to Asgard but to Thor
Loki tricks Thanos during IW
Loki as an Avenger
Loki as a kid
Loki as a girl
Loki on jotunheim, fully jotun
Loki on Asgard, jotun
faster and faster, all sorts of different AU scenes until the screen goes dark and we see our Loki, smirking
"But...well, those are stories for another time."
and he steps back into the shadows.

WHAT IF...? EPISODE THREE THOUGHTS
Tumblr media
GIF CREDIT @lankybrunettepartdeux EPISODE 03: WHAT IF...EARTH LOST ITS MIGHTIEST HEROES? SPOILERS AHEAD! i didn't think phil coulson and i would have the same taste in men.
i’ve missed natasha and fury talking. i didn’t realize how much until the opening scenes of them in the car. love how natasha’s over with fury’s speech about the avengers, i think it hones in that it is a really corny speech. also really loved nat’s animation in this episode like ma’am, please marry me.
seeing tony in the donut again was also awesome. glad we got a little tony before killing him off five minutes later. didn’t think this episode would quickly go dark but it did. and i’m happy it did because i am all for marvel going dark and not having everything be a possible double meaning to something darker. i wanna see that gray areas and the gory stuff every once and a while.
for a second i really thought pierce was going to be the main bad guy due to fury suggesting someone tampered with the antidote. again, completely love nat’s fight sequence in the car. really wish brumlow said fuck cause i would too if i was in his shoes.
phil coulson my beloved. i love love love how we all have collectively agreed that he’s a got a thing for buff blonds with blue eyes. same phil same. thor is gorgeous with or without that long hair but they really made it shine this episode even if it was brief. i think you can actually see the crisis coulson was having upon realizing that the man is basically steve rogers but with long hair and he’s simping. again, phil my dear - same. i’m a simp for steve and thor.
nearly sobbed seeing thor being killed by clint because i’m never gonna be prepared for thor dying on us. i actually can’t fathom it since i love him so much. from promo clips, i figured this would be its own episode like “what if…clint killed thor?” but i’m kind of happy we got to see it in this episode as it makes you believe for a split second barton was the one killing the avengers off one by one.
betty ross? okay, didn’t think we’d ever ever see that woman again especially in the mcu. also, banner? i didn’t know what i thought bruce would look like in this show but it wasn’t like that. don’t get me wrong, i like the animation style of banner, i guess i pictures something closer to looking like mark. either way, was really hoping hulk would be the exception to the plot here since yeah, he really can’t die but boy were we proven dead wrong once more.
loki in this episode was basically if he had no character development and actually got his way with earth under the premise of avenging thor. which i think loki did want. i believe he was hurting that thor was killed but despite this being loki that was still hellbent on being king, he used it as a cover to then actually take over earth. not me thinking he’d change and actually be in the avengers. really thought we were going that route with him as it would’ve been cool to see loki finding purpose being in the avengers in thor’s place and doing a sort of 180 on his whole glorious purpose shtick.
hank pym being revealed as the man behind the killings of all the avengers did take me for a loop because i was wondering who would want to do this. i was going through a whole rolodex of people in the mcu as to who it could possibly be. the fact that hope was working for S.H.I.E.L.D. made me wonder if had she not died, she would be a part of the original avengers lineup like in the comics. also, saw a lot of people pointing to the fact that bucky is the one who killed hope in that mission. odessa, ukraine is the same place natasha said was shot by the winter soldier in captain america: the winter soldier. so this must also mean that nat probably came to work for fury later on in this timeline since she’s usually his go-to agent. anyways, back to hank being the villain. he’s also clearly wearing the yellow jacket armor as he did in the comics. hank has always had disdain for S.H.I.E.L.D. as he didn’t trust them with his pym particles which would be correct to assume since we also know HYDRA is already masking as S.H.I.E.L.D. during this time. i just wonder if HYDRA did influence hank in this timeline to push him to kill everyone.
coulson being the absolute fanboy he is for steve rogers with that password is a mood. like phil my beloved, we’ve all probably had a similar password dedicated to america’s ass one way or another. knowing that HYDRA is posing as S.H.I.E.L.D. by this time, i’m wondering how they still didn’t get to steve or if fury had found him on his own- hence why he’s alone when he wipes some ice from the shield. maybe this was something between fury and a few other trusted agents as maybe he did have an idea that HYDRA was already infiltrating the agency. either way, was pretty happy to see captain marvel appear too when he said “welcome back, captain.” as to say it to both captain america and captain marvel since they’re gonna be co-captains for this new team to take down loki.
overall, i liked this episode and really shocked that they went pretty dark for this third episode. i hope that they have more episodes like this in the season. i figure the dr. strange episode will have a similar tone but i hope there’s more episodes than just these two for darker themes and darker animation.
i know i slipped with the second episode but that was because i got too emotional watching it and was sobbing by the end of the episode. i did love episode two and i think in terms of the fun, adventurous tone, it’s the best episode so far (and i think it really should’ve been the premiere episode instead). looking back on the first episode, it really wasn’t anything spectacular in terms of a new storyline or anything rather creative. it’s just replacing steve with peggy in the first avenger movie. as for the second and third episode, there was a lot changed in storylines and consequences of those changes. ie: thanos being talked out of mass genocide by t’challa and so he joins the ravangers and doesn’t torture nebula to the point of making her fully cybernetic. the most we got from the first episode was that peggy came through the tesseract portal not loki so there’s implications of that but we’re not shown much else. while with this episode and t’challa’s star lord episode, there’s a hell of a lot more changes to the storyline that we’re shown rather than left to guess and it was refreshing to see that.
