Cult of the Bat

Story Start-Batman isn’t just beaten, he’s been publicly humiliated. Solomon Grundy, Poison Ivy (with supersized virtually indestructible Venus Mantraps aiding her), and a new villain who calls himself Prometheus (and dresses similar-ish to the original) blitz Wayne manor right after Bruce disowns the bat family for unknown reasons. He’s beaten to a bloody pulp, at which point Grundy is “switched off” by another new villain, The Answer. The Answer then broadcasts to the world Batman’s defeat, true identity, and list of crimes. Embezzlement, tax fraud, Child Soldierization, stealing tax payer’s dollars as well as their personal information, corruption and sedition (keeping the cops, politicians, etc. in his pocket), accessory to a multitude of murders, withholding key evidence from the appropriate authorities, oh yea! the child endangerment and abuse thing, radicalizing people with potentially self/publicly destructive extremist ideals, being OBJECTIVELY a terrorist, nearly CREATING Armageddon-level catastrophes himself…

“…and the list, it doth go oooon aand oooooon, mah friends.” The Answer chuckled sarcastically.

Detailed evidence of these crimes is spread across the internet. Despite A.R.G.U.S.’s best efforts, they are unable to contain the very public information leak (much of the evidence also incriminates them 😑).

Dick Grayson is the first to return and rushes headlong into the fray. Finds Bruce’s still living body unmonitored and descends into the Bat Cave. There he finds The Answer waiting in Bruce’s chair. When Nightwing attacks, he’s stopped by the new Prometheus, who is a physical and tactical match for him (and roughly the same age). As they fight, The Answer reveals that they did all this simply to force Mr. Grayson to evolve. Essentially, The Answer is about to start testing both heroes and villains alike, “ya know, trials by fire and whatnot”. Those who survive would prove they were ready to evolve and face the horrifying future of earth.

“And those who don’t*cough*well, ya know….” The Answer smirked widely.

Nightwing is flung into a rage and nearly kills new Prometheus, but is incapacitated by an unknown source. The Answer then slings that red jacket over their shoulder and puts that annoying fedora on. Lights Cigar using Nightwing’s taser baton and bids Dick adieu.

Mr. Grayson is then FORCED to don the mantle of the Bat and must solve the mystery of who The Answer is before he rips the superpowered community of earth to shreds whilst simultaneously daring Darkseid to take advantage of the opening.

List of Suspects:

The Question- OG is currently busy being MIA. Although he has been replaced by nearly 1000 Questions spread across the globe who don’t seem to have memory of who they are or why they’re compelled to find and fight crime. Good luck gettin answers outa that lot.

Prometheus- Nightwing quickly discovers that old Prometheus had recently committed suicide. Based on the slovenly way he was living, it seems unlikely that he could have been The Answer, even if he was involved in the growing plot somehow.

Vandal Savage- It is revealed that one of Savage’s many progeny recently found him, chopped his body into seven pieces, placed them in rockets and launched them into space. Seems unlikely it was him. Not ruled out, though. The Child of Savage is nowhere to be found.

Ra’s Al Ghul- Talia finds Nightwing first and just tells him flat out that her father was murdered by The Answer. Shot through the heart with a Walter PPK. When they attempted to resurrect him via the Lazarus Pit, it triggered a flesh eating virus fueled by the life-replenishing effects of the pit itself. No one can even retrieve his corpse, as simply stepping into the pit is enough to instantly kill you. So yea, she wants revenge.

Amanda Waller- Is currently under investigation by the combined and legally empowered CIA/FBI. They’ve had her locked up in a top secret facility since long before Bruce’s demise. The Answer undoubtedly has high ranking allies planted within the U.S. government.

Lex Luthor- In a catatonic state that seems to have been induced by overexposure to kryptonite. According to J’onn J’onzz, he did seem to know about The Answer, but his mind is currently too fragmented to retrieve any more information than that.

Mr. Grayson must become The Batman in a world that has quickly grown to despise him, where even members of the Bat Family prove to be more enemy than ally.

Tim Drake- Takes it the hardest and makes by far the most absurd choice due to an increasingly worrisome mental state. Willingly marries Talia Al Ghul’s scar-covered and bloodthirsty granddaughter, Anastasia Al Ghul, and takes Ra’s place as head of the League of Assassins. Devotes the resources of the League to hunting down The Answer and eliminating them. Is assisted by Raven for unknown reasons.

Jason Todd- Ironically, remains the most stable amidst the chaos. Chooses to retain his Red Hood persona while trying his best to support Dick during his “trial”. Perhaps…he gets a liiittle more violent in his methods. Slade is forced offworld for a variety of offenses (mainly that he’s bad at his job and way too destructive in his methods, so the criminal underworld wants him gone), but he leaves the Deathstroke Estate split between Jason and his daughter. His version of a funny joke/meet cute. So Jason be rich as hell and has access to all of Slade’s contacts in all the criminal circles that matter. Rose is fine with this cuz she hated her old man and everything that reminds her of him anyways, so the two of them go on a buddy cop quest to track The Answer down. Maybe a few Teen Titan’s alumni join the squad along the way. Along with a veritable army of Questions.

Damian Wayne- sinks into depression. Leaves Gotham without warning and without objective. Wanders the world, seeking purpose. Finds that he doesn’t really care what happens now that Bruce is gone. Eventually, he comes across Catwoman in his travels and they bond over their shared edginess. Soooo the Batchild goes on a series of misadventures with his surrogate mother. And Harley Quinn is there. Because you can’t stop her from being there. And she brings hell and clowns with her.

Harley Quinn- Desperately searching for Ivy. Her poisonous love vanished after the night she helped pulp Bats. Depending on what she discovers, she might have to murder The Answer herself. Stumbles across pretty much everyone in their separate journeys, but they’re all too busy to help. Except for the Batchild and Catwoman.

Katherine Kane- Is framed for the Joker’s murder by new Prometheus, Countess Vertigone and The Savageborn. Recovering from a brutal duel with The Savageborn, an unparalleled sword master, she seeks revenge against the mastermind of her demise, Prometheus. In so doing, she stumbles into the maddening world of freewheeling, psychotic supervillains. It is there she meets legendary assassin Shiva and they stumble upon a much larger villainous conspiracy than they had anticipated. And some Questions are there, too.

Dick Grayson must become master and commander of this Army of Bats if he is to survive The Answer’s relentless onslaught and the coming Future.

Grayson’s new costume would be a combination of the Nightwing suit and the traditional Batman suit, keeping his iconic blue symbol whilst gaining the bat cape & cowl. His identity is known by pretty much everyone, so they all refer to him by name and Nightwing throughout. Villains come to fear him more than Bruce, though, because he’s completely unfazed by this. Where Bruce would’ve grown obviously angry, Grayson just laughs in their faces. The point is that he’s the opposite in every way. Like if Batman was played by Han Solo. Much more audacity, more of a gambler, with a smirking confidence that throws his enemies off their game and gives him the upper hand. He doesn’t hesitate to utilize all the allies who will dare to help him, even adding supervillains to the Bat Family if that’s what it takes. Where Bruce was rigid and unchanging in his Ideals, Dick is fluid, adaptable and much MUCH more empathetic to the plights of even those he fights. His ability to get inside The Answers (and the Bat Family’s) mind(s) proves to be his ultimate asset. The focus would be on his inventiveness and ability to think outside the box.

The Answer’s mannerisms and speech patterns are based ENTIRELY on Peter Falk as Columbo (the grandpa from princess bride).

He always looks and acts comically confused by what’s going on around him. His bright red three-piece suit is always rumpled and his tie loose. Fedora looks like it’s been sat on multiple times and he’s always smokin a stogey. His face has a similar mask to that of The Question or Rorschach, but it seems to be made from some sort of liquid that clings to his head.

The liquid will peel back and reveal his heavily scarred mouth whenever he talks or smokes, which makes him look like a gloopy version of the Pale Man from Pan’s Labyrinth.

Not the nostrils, just the mouth portion. The liquid mask would move aside, but strands of it would remain connected in front of his mouth. It closes immediately when his mouth stops moving. The juxtaposition between his bumbling, lighthearted way of addressing the situation and his somewhat horrifying appearance is intentionally off putting (to most). He acts as if he is just a simple-minded, regular Joe-shmoe P.I. Who’s accidentally solving this “big case”. He’ll then shift suddenly to a version of his persona that’s much closer to Batman than anything else, brutally and sarcastically revealing that there was never any chance for you to beat him. Physically, he can punch on with the bat family, but is closer in martial arts skill to a Green Arrow. Good but not great. His list of gadgetry, however, is enormous. He has stolen and repurposed tech from any number of superheroes/villains and can use it all very effectively. He is purposefully annoying, goading his enemies into attacking, which generally bears some manner of horrific consequence. The assumption that Grayson quickly comes to is, “if he shows up on scene, don’t attack cuz he definitely has the exact tool he needs to beat you or has brought someone who has that tool with him.”

Examples:

Anti-Flash Field- The Answer always has on his person a device that rejects the Speedforce, repelling it away from the device. The closer any speedster gets, the slower they get. If they run directly at the Answer at full speed, they’ll smack into the repulsive field and blast their own body to pieces.

An assortment of stolen Lexcorp kryptonite weapons- he’s got one or two at all times, including a Kryptoscanner. It automatically detects Kryptonians’ unique energy signature about 1.75 miles out. The A.I. within can react at the same speed as Superman’s well recorded average flight speed, firing off a dampening pulse which will greatly weaken them. Not fully de-powered, but enough that armor piercing rounds will actually hurt them. Eventually, Prometheus just tricks all earth kryptonians into returning to earth’s surface to catch The Answer, only then activating a series of satellites that filter the light of the sun to have the same effect as a red sun on them. They’re trapped on a hostile earth, powerless.

Perfect Refrigeration Unit- based on Captain Cold’s ray gun, this Fanny pack-like device absorbs all excessive heat that gets too close to The Answer’s bod and repurposes it to charge his various electronic devices.

Starr-o-Launcher- wrist mounted, gas powered grenade launcher. Technically, The Answer uses it to fire a bunch of different grenades he makes, but it’s most useful round is the synthetic clones of Starro’s spawn that he whipped up in a lab. Even if they don’t hit your face, they’ll be able to gain partial control over your body.

Dr. Fate in a Bottle- Uno reverse card for Magic.

The Blue Rose- A genetically engineered telepathic rose that releases a constant command to not attack The Answer. This will play upon the way a person thinks, so if they are fearless, they just won’t feel like he’s worth attacking. This combined with the unaggressive, laughable way he acts makes people constantly underestimate him, a running theme. It also disrupts telepathic attacks and prevents the manipulation of flora or fauna anywhere near The Answer.

And so on and so forth….I’m tired for now.

"Sleep."

"With the fishes?"

"What? No, I mean--"

"Ohh" hero said, "Then perhaps you want me to sleep with you~" they threw a wink at Villain's direction.

Shockingly, Villain's voice turned into a squeak, "No! I mean literal. Sleeping. By yourself."

Sadly for them, they were met with utter confusion.

"That isn't what you are supposed to say."

Aand there we go again.

"For the last time" Villain was practically chasing hero around the room by that point.

"There is no script that I have to follow."

"Yes, there is", Hero said as they hopped over a stray shirt on the floor.

"First, you threaten to blow something up."

"I don't have to-- Just come here!"

Hero dodged, causing Villain to chocke down a frustrated scream. Two days. Two freaking days and the hero was still standing, having gotten no wink of sleep and now Villain- Villain of all people- had to chase them around so they would go to bed.

Villain did not get nearly enough credit.

"Then i stop you." Hero went on explaining the proper procedure. "And after that--"

"Don't touch my stuff."

"Kay" hero replied, only for them to start poking at every single thing on Villain's desk.

"Anyway, I stop you and then you start flirting with me", they ignored Villain's protests, "and then I swoon but try to hide it, but you see my blush anyway so you purr seductive things at me." A pause, "and maybe pin me down, that is a classic."

Villain opened their mouth. Closed it. Opened it again.

They had no clue where to start.

About Hero supposedly wining against Villain, Villain needing to resort to flirting of all things, or the fact that it would make the hero swoon, apparently, or-

Villain nearly tackled them. "Don't touch my things!"

Hero yelped as they both hit the ground but at least that way they were too distracted to notice Villain's retreating blush.

"Why? What are you hiding??"

"My socks hero. Dear God. Do you think I have a bomb in my drawers or something? In case you haven't noticed, this is my own fucking room!"

In a matter of seconds Hero had Villain pinned to the floor. Villain didn't give a damn; They reached for the lamp cause if a hit to the head was what it took, then so be it. Hero was going to rest whether they wanted to or not.

Only that before they could reach it, Hero shoved Villain's wrists further onto the carpet, making their skin tingle. It was just because of the friction though, obviously.

"You know" they said, as some strands of honey blond hair slid from behind their ears, "you should be the one doing this."

"Th-this?" Villain asked, disoriented. What, did they have to be the one to pass out from exhaustion just because they disobeyed the law? Was that some ridiculous form of punishment they weren't informed about?

Hero squeezed their wrists and Villain acted as if their breath didn't hitch.

Then, slowly but surely, Hero leaned close enough for their breath to ghost over their opponent's lips.

"Seducing me."

Villain's heart aggressively bumped against their ribcage, but they remained perfectly still. Even if they wanted to move, their body refused to cooperate. Not that being under Hero was as bad as Villain initially thought.

"Ah. I see. But, you should still head to bed though."

"Make me" they purred.

"Hero, I swear-" Villain would have a heart attack at this rate.

Hero chuckled brightly, dazedly, head tilting a bit to the side.

"I know, I know."

And then there was a lack of a warm, comforting body against their own and Villain had half a mind not to pull them back in.

"Fine" Villain huffed, trying not to think of their ancestors booing from the heavens. "I'll sleep with you."

"Yay!"

"I mean it literally" Villain started to say, only that Hero had already began snuggling against their shoulder.

"W-what are you doing?"

Big, pure eyes lifted to meet theirs and Villain couldn't help inhaling sharply at the sight.

"Sleeping."

"You're supposed to sleep on a bed."

"Why?"

"Because!" What kind of question was that?? "Do I really have to explain why people sleep on beds?"

Hero hummed while leaving more and more of their weight on their sworn enemy.

Their eyelids fluttered closed.

"Well, i'll tell you why since you are that stupid."

"Mhm."

"Your back will be sore in the morning."

Hero responded by grabbing fistfulls of Villain's shirt and releasing, grabbing and releasing. Suddenly, all Villain could see was a sleepy kitten searching for warmth, and there was no going back from that.

They shut their mouth when they realised nonsensical sounds came pouring out, and with as much grace as possible they stretched out their hand. Hero moaned in complaint. Even though Villain's heart flat out died, they managed to keep their voice even and soft. It only seemed to relax Hero further.

"Good, just a bit more."

Once they had the blanket, they used it to cover the vulnerable Hero's sleeping form. Not that Villain would ever, not even in a million years admit, but Hero putting their trust in Villain made their insides turn to mush. It made Villain want to hold them, snuggle them, keep them safe for as long as they could. Maybe even forever.

There was no way Villain approved of Hero's antics, but maybe, just maybe, staying awake for this long had its perks. Gently, they pulled hero closer and run their hand through their ruffled, blond hair.

They were still scolding the heck out of Hero when this was over, but for now they got comfortable and let themself fall asleep.

Are you going to elaborate more on the constructor story? Is such a original take in the whole Hero/Villan concept. It feels like Wicked but with a DC take to it! The origin hero story but with a twist.

I am! I am slowly trying to write my way through all of the asks (I have gotten 1/3 of the way through a bunch of different snippets I am writing, basically :’D). Aand since you ask... here, have this:

A first draft of a text in progress, tentatively titled “Constructor to Destructor: A Biography of The World’s Greatest Villain”” by R. J. Stevenson.

Even after the prison break, it took a while for Constructor to be labelled a villain at all, much less the “World’s Greatest.”

Mind control was the dominant theory for a while. At least a dozen articles brought up the case of The United States vs. Peter “Ice-Shot” O’Reilly. O’Reilly was acquitted for treason due to psychic influence in a landmark case that brought the dangers of psych-based powersets to the public consciousness. More relevant to Constructor’s case: O’Reilly was successfully deradicalized.

Another popular theory was that it was a mental health issue. There were thinkpieces on the mental health strain placed on heroes, profiles about how many had broken down and been institutionalized. A lot of these pointed to the scant-yet-tragic details we knew about Constructor’s own childhood and speculation about the cumulative effect that repeated trauma of working on disaster sites.

Point is: everyone thought that Constructor was going to snap out of it eventually.

Yes, many had been disappointed by Constructor’s recent political screeds. Yes, the public breakdown at the stadium had garnered mockery and scolding. Yes, there had been scathing media backlash.

But even so, no one could believe that America’s golden child had turned on them. No one could believe a pacifist who had worked 24 hour shifts rebuilding homes would break down a prison. No one could accept that was the end of the story, that the prodigal son would not return.

It had to be Constructor that disabused the public of the notion. In a speech broadcast to the entire country, no less (thanks to tech-based villain Cyberscout hijacking all public communication.)

I have been told, repeatedly, that we live in a democracy. That any power they have over us is a power that the people have to agree to. If that is true, then why do we tacitly agree to let them force people out of their homes? Why do we tacitly agree to let corporations profit from selling clean water while poisoning our

Why can we agree on “expropriation” to build a stadium, but not to house people? Not to feed starving children? Not to save lives?

If I have to be insane to understand this, then I don’t want to become sane!

After that, people slowly stopped believing Constructor was brainwashed or delusional. A small but growing part of the population traded that belief out for one much, much more dangerous.

They started to believe Constructor was right.

Emile leapt back as the hand shot forward and tried to grab his face. He narrowly avoided the fingertips of his enemy - the hero known as Sleep - touching his skin. If that did happen, Emile would be put to sleep, and it would be a little difficult to escape with the stolen money if he was unconscious.

He held the sac tightly in his gloved hand, squeezing it slightly, knowing that one wrong move would have it slipping through his fingers and tumbling to the ground, spilling stacks of cash everywhere.

Emile moved backwards, getting further away from his enemy, and then gave Sleep a friendly smile, as if they were old friends, not sworn enemies. He let out a laugh.

"You're not gonna touch me, Sleep. I won't let you! I need this cash for something."

"What for?" Sleep asked, momentarily pausing his approach.

Emile laughed, swinging his sac over his shoulder and taking another single step back, which Sleep matched in an instant.

"Oh, I can't tell you that! It's a secret." Emile held his finger to his lips. "If I told you, you'd just stop me! And I can't have that."

Of course, maybe telling Sleep that he was going to give the stolen money to various charities would make him more inclined to side with him. But Emile doubted it. Heroes were just so... strict.

Therefore, Emile had decided that he'd do more good as a villain.

Sleep stared at Emile for a few seconds, as if carefully choosing his next words. And Emile was polite, so he figured he might as well stay long enough to here them.

Just as long as Sleep didn't attack him again, of course.

Then, a smile slowly spread across Sleep's face, and Emile bit his lip, pushing down the giggle that rose in his throat. Sleep placed one hand on his own hip.

"Oh, now, come on, Doc," Sleep said flirtatiously. "Wouldn't you rather spend time with me, than take that money back to your dusty, old hideout?"

Emile finally let out that giggle, his free hand moving up and covering his mouth.

He had to admit - even with that mask disguising his face - Sleep was quite handsome. Maybe if life was different, Emile would have chosen to pursue him.

"I'll have you know, my hideout is pristine."

Sleep hummed, tilting his head to one side and continuing to smile at Emile.

"Maybe you'll have to show me sometime."

Emile laughed. "Maybe someday." He then took a couple steps back. "But that day is not today, Sleep."

Sleep pouted, and began to walk towards Emile again.

"Aww, come on, Doc," Sleep said. "Will you at least let me give you a kiss, first?"

Emile laughed. "And let you put me to sleep? No, thank you." He raised his hand, giving Sleep a little salute.

He then spun around, and began to sprint away from Sleep. Footsteps followed behind him; Sleep was fast, but Emile was faster. He lost Sleep quickly, and once he was certain that Sleep would no longer find him, he ducked into an alleyway. Inside of it, he found the bag he'd stashed, and he quickly changed out of his supersuit and mask, and into his spare clothes.

Then, he stuffed the supersuit and the sac of money into his bag, and zipped it shut, slinging it over his shoulder. He then strolled out of the alleyway, and walked right into Sleep.

"Oh, gosh, I'm so sorry!" Emile apologised immediately, squeezing the strap of his bag, just in case Sleep tried to grab it.

Sleep stared at him for a few seconds, surprised - and Emile was just the slightest bit worried that he'd recognise him - but then he shook his head.

"No, no, it's my fault. I was the one not looking where I was going." Sleep cracked a small smile. "I mean, I'm a hero. I'm supposed to be taking care of this city's civilians, not knocking them over."

Emile laughed. "It's fine. I mean, I wasn't looking where I was going, either."

Sleep paused. "Are you sure you're alright?"

"Yup! I'm perfect," Emile said with a smile.

Sleep watched him for a few moments, as if determining his sincerity, before he spoke again. "Well, be careful. There's a villain on the loose. I don't think he's going to hurt anyone, but you should still, like, be careful and stuff." Sleep paused. "I need to go catch him! I'll see you around, civilian."

Just before he was about to go, his eyes flicked downwards, looking over Emile's body, like he was trying to subtly check him out. And then, as Sleep left, Emile bit back a smile.

It seemed that Sleep was unable to resist him, in or out of costume.

If you don't mind me asking, who are your favorite “villains” (or antagonists) in all of MXTX novels? (Whether you want to do a ranking or just write out in no particular order)...Sorry if you've answered this question before....Thanks....

part of me wants to do a full ranking but I feel like that's the devil talking. so I'll just name off some of my favorites.

Su Minshan is the obvious one, because he's basically taking THREE types of character i usually like a lot (villain with Failed/Gone Wrong Hero vibes; sneaky cursing & poisoning bastard energy; devoted subordinate of other villain I like) and combining them into one package.

Jin Guangyao is a close followup, tho. I'm also a huge fan of villains with incongruous personalities to their main role in the story, and appreciate that he's a genuinely well done 'villain with some good points'--genuine good balanced against genuine bad, and a lot of crunchy neutral and gray stuff in between. Also it's so common to have villains that are trying to get High In Society look down on or plan to discard of any villainous connections they have, but JGY eschews that to have genuine relationships with both XY and SMS. we stan.

...Fuck I'm gonna have to put Xue Yang third. MDZS just knocked it out of the park with its villains for me, lol. I've mentioned in the past that I've been very fond of 'slightly childish ~crazy~ murderer' character types in the past and were always disappointed with how little depth they had, so XY is a gift in that way. And every other way. The Yi City arc is one of the, if not the, best MXTX subplot of all time, and it couldn't be the way it is without XY.

Tianlang-Jun and Zhuzhi-Lang from SVSSS are right up there as well, just because they're so entertaining. A friend described Zhuzhi-Lang as being like a fairy that decides it owes you a favor so it keeps trying to help you out, but it just does it in the worst and most unhelpful ways possible. Tianlang-jun is just... such a creep, but in such a straightforward way it's hilarious instead of offputting (him dragging up a chair to (presumably) watch SQQ and ZZL fuck is one of my top funny moments from SVSSS as a whole) and both of them have an entertaining Blue and Orange Morality vibe to them I enjoy. Not to mention ZZL's extra chapters killed me emotionally 😢

Aand last but not least, can we call the Three Tumors villains? I feel like at least Ling Wen can count as an antagonist, considering that she acts as one for a chunk of the book. Ling Wen, and Shi Wudu if we can stretch the definition. (I feel like General Pei, with his extremely tenuous Token Good Teammate qualities, doesn't quite make the grade but rest assured I love him too). I just *points at top of list* love horrible people that care about each other! The truest of friendship is knowing where each other's bodies are buried, metaphorically, and Pei Ming and Ling Wen both reacting in a way that indicates they KNOW about the He Xuan business really speaks to the depth of theirs. Shi Wudu kind of hits me where it hurts as someone who came from a bad family and got out with one sibling, and Ling Wen just. Has my heart. 10/10 would bring her tea every morning and never ask about her murky past.

Prompt #8 (?) Sidekick

Hero stared at the seated villain in front of them. Hero had taken villain in their quarters to inquire about certain things, and they weren't sure if villain is going to make this easy. Of course they aren't.

"You're going to expect me," the villain scoffed, "to tell you the truth? Without a fight? Without considering that I'm not a trustworthy person, hero?"

Hero sighed. "It's just... Let's get this over with, villain. Just say some truthful words, and I'll let you leave, okay?"

Villain smirked. "What made you think I'm not gonna stay to annoy your ass?"

Before hero got to reply the doorbell rang. Oh no. Hero thought. Not now.

"Pizza delivery" a voice said from the door.

Villain laughed. Of course who wouldn't? Getting kidnapped by your enemy just to have them get interrupted by a pizza delivery?

"You can come in."

Hero eyed villain steadily, something villain could've squirmed in if they weren't looking at hero's actions. Why did they touch their earpiece? Does some delivery man have a secret earphone connected to hero's? Plus, why did hero let anyone in when they're having secret work? Why let some civillian get involved in this?

Villain's thoughts were interrupted as someone peered through the door. "Hero, I've had a plan for— oh."

"Sidekick, uh, yeah we're in the middle of a... talk here. Would you mind staying in the other room for a second?"

Odd. All odd. These actions and interactions seemed odd to villain. I mean, first of all, hero now has a sidekick, and the sidekick's not even known! They've successfuly hidden the fact that they have a partner in all these ideas! What's even more unsettling is that hero asked sidekick to stay in the other room, instead of staying with them to help hero manage villain. Villain decided to be the one asking the questions.

"My, hero, you didn't tell me you have a sidekick!" Villain tilted their head to have a better look at the sidekick, now hiding behind hero. "You didn't even mention they were adorable. Some people are worthy of being praised, y'know?"

Hero placed their hand in front of sidekick, protectively hiding them from villain. "I said please go to the other room." Hero whispered to them.

Sidekick could only look at the wall. Hero's request... The whole room's awkwardness... Their interruption... not to mention with the code pizza... villain observing their appearance... their role now exposed... their life in danger... It was too much for sidekick to process or react to and all they can do is look sideways.

"What, I haven't done you any wrong and now you're scared of me. I haven't done anything scary now, have I?" Villain said teasingly.

Sidekick found their voice back.

"No... just... I'm scared of new people... That's why I don't go around risking myself in the whole hero thing... Don't take it personal though," they quickly added, concerned if they hurt the villain.

Hero seemed to catch up on sidekick's fear of hurting other people, and yet still had the same question as villain. Hero has a loss of words, apparently.

"Why do you care about other people's emotions, especially if they're hurt? Ah, don't worry, you didn't hurt me." Villain gave sidekick a toothy grin.

Sidekick looked at villain and back at hero. "I see why you wanted me in the other room." Villain widened their eyes in surprise. Who they thought was small, sweet, and adorable was now indirectly roasting them, implying they're not one to be pleasant with. Sidekick didn't even think about hurting villain with that.

"Yeah." Hero led sidekick out the room and went back to asking— or attempting to ask— villain some questions. It was hard for them not to give villain over to the police.

But before hero could ask about villain's next plans and evidences of a problem villain interrupted them.

"So, you're not gonna tell me you have a sidekick??" Hero looked at villain annoyingly. To their surprise villain was more upset with not being told of a secret than being asked of their secrets.

"And as mentioned, an adorable one?? Who just used pizza as a code to get inside??"

Hero furrowed their eyebrows in annoyance. It was true though, hero did also find sidekick cute... No, focus on the main thing here! Villain's jsut trying to distracy you! Sure, your sidekick's cute, but you shouldnt linger on that idea!

"Hero you've been bowing your head this entire time I've been rambling..."

Hero looked at villain, successfully stopping their thoughts. They really need to focus.

"–And you're being really red right now." Villain stated, as a matter-of-factly.

"You need to fix yourself though, seeing you like that is uncomfortable for me."

Hero turned around and tried to set their thoughts and heart straight. They were here to ask questions, they were here to ask questions, they were here to ask questions—

A knock on the door was heard. Hero opened the door, blocking villain from sidekick's view. Hero did it to annoy villain and it worked.

"Um, sidekick, what do you need to say?"

"Not like 'need' actually. Just wanted to say I really bought you pizza. The code's already pizza and I thought why not get an actual pizza— hero? Why? Why are you blushing so hard?" Sidekick looked over hero's shoulder. "Uh... did villain make your heart flutter or something?"

"No it's... I... I can't explain it..."

Why is it hard for someone to express their words when their feelings are a mess? How can someone express what they're feeling when their words are a mess?

"It's fine, I believe you. You can tell me afterwards." Sidekick tiptoed to have a good look at villain. "In case you want some pizza, too, I give you permission to grab some slices."

Villain spoke to themselves while turning their head to the side. "They even share pizza—"

Sidekick took a look at the two most powerful people in the city. Villain was closing their eyes, muttering to themselves. Hero was covering their face with one hand and the other placed on the wall like it's supporting them...

Sidekick just sighed. It's gonna take hero some explaining to do. For the meantime, just let them be with their business.

"... I'm just gonna leave y'all with some pizza. Hero, next time I'm gonna bring in some drinks. I'll ask you about this later." Hero just nodded in response, not even able to close the door when sidekick just did. After a few footsteps fading, the two people finally breathed and spoke.

"You're gonna tell me, that you have a sidekick, and they're—" villain gestured vaguely "like that??? How dare you withheld a treausre from me hero, how dare—" villain sighed dramatically.

"Just for safety purposes, villain. You could take them and—"

"And take them from you?" Villain smiled and nodded in understanding. "So that's why you were so protective of them."

"What— no! Am not!"

"You are."

"Am not."

"Definitely jealous now~"

"If you're not gonna shut up I'm not gonna give you any pizza."

"As long as you tell me about sidekick then I'll tell you everything you want to hear."

"...Deal."

Aand the next minutes after eating sidekick's pizza (it was remarkably good, they noted), hero told about the little things sidekick did that hero appreciates, all the while villain was snacking at the table.

It was after villain went home when they realized they were the one talking and no questioning the villain happened. They've messed up for sure.

there are so many. i cannot give descriptions of all of them, but i will try to run over my unpublished ones briefly based on how they’re organized in my google docs :’

- i have about 2 set in the antarctic empire, and another royalty oneshot set in newfoundland

- there are 3 vague concepts for time travel aus centered around sbi, and two more for karl. there’s also a magic au that doesn’t involve time travel exactly, but definitely time fuckery

- an au where i adapt the jedi fallen order game, as well as one where i adapt tgcf for beeduo (with plenty of crimeboys thrown in)

- about four unpublished superhero aus, and some uncounted oneshots with similar settings- a crack vigilante au, a reluctant supervillain wilbur au, a twinsduo hero/villain au, and the catbur au

- there’s also the graceland au, which i’ve talked a bit about previously, and an urban fantasy au where psychic detective wilbur goes to solve a missing persons case and ends up uncovering a conspiracy with roots in his own home and consequences for magic society in general

- aand finally a bunch of oneshots ^^ there’s the sam nook gaining sentience one, a crimeboys time loop au, one about wilbur’s death, a fundy 2nd person pov character study, one where grian shows up during new l’manberg, a modern au where wilbur dies and tommy has to figure out how to live without his brother, one where dream breaks out of prison and ranboo fucking ends him, a dnd-esque injury-sharing one i’ve shared snippets of, what i fondly refer to as my butcher army ace attorney au, one where tubbo confronts techno about everything, one where i project my shit memory and optimistic nihilism onto karl, one i started but never finished for the 16th that was wilbur reflecting on what happened, and finally one that’s just 5+1 wilbur biting people affectionately but the +1 is him biting dream with intent to maim so

Yandere Batgirl/Barbara Gordon

Barbara is a protective, no doubt about it. If you're a hero, she's gonna openly voice her displeasure. She'll hassle you to quit and live a normal life.

She always want to know where you are and what you're doing. She's not overbearing by any means, she just likes to be close by just in case. She won't usually step in or intervene in anything she knows you can handle.

She'd only step in if she saw that you were getting your ass seriously kicked or if things were taking a turn. And boy would she kick the living hell out of any and everyone involved.

Speaking of which, she's always on patrol with you. It's the only way she'd let you keep doing you hero work, was if you two patroled the same territory. It's not too bad, actually being kinda fun.

I think the boiling point for her to seriously stop you from being a hero would be if you got severely injured or almost died.

When she does get shot by Joker, you're always by her side. She won't ever admit it, wanting to look strong and independent (like she already is), but she really likes having you around. You coddle and baby her, and that's something she's never really had. She's still determined and headstrong, but she likes the extra attention you put into her.

As Oracle, Barbara know everything about where you are, what you're doing and who you've been around. You're probably still out being a hero while she's manning the computers and everything else. She's still keeping a very watchful eye on you.

Even though Barbara can be kind of a hard ass, she still has her loving and soft moments, as rare as they are since the two of you aren't always together.

She likes to cuddle, her being the big spoon, but she won't admit to liking being the small spoon sometimes. She finds it really relaxing when you play with her hair. And in a Romantic relationship, I personally think she'd really enjoy taking baths with you. She just likes to overall relax with you. No hero work, no villains or criminals, just you and her. She lives for quiet moments like those.

In a Platonic relationship, she'd be the epitome of a mother hen. She already is but it'd be much worse. She'd really push for a younger platonic darling to quit being a hero or to never start.

If you really wanna help out she'd teach you to become the new Oracle. You can take care of all the elctronical, computer base stuff but you won't be allowed out into the field, so to speak. Over her dead body, and she means it.

Yandere Spoiler/Stephanie Brown

I wouldn't really say that Stephanie is delusional, but she has moments. She's self aware enough to realize her behavior isn't right but she'll give in sooner or later.

Stephanie can be pretty reckless and this is a common denominator in her obsessive behavior, too. She'll stalk you, that goes without saying, but she'll get so tunnel visioned that she'll come close to giving herself away.

There are a handful of times she's almost gotten caught by you or someone else, but she can't help herself. She just wants to get closer and closer to you. She just wants to be close with you.

She'd totally break into your house or apartment to look around your room, making herself comfortable. Throwing herself on to your bed, taking in your scent and everything else.

I could see her stealing some of your clothes, like hoodies or shirts, just to be able to feel close with you. She'd probably steal one of your perfumes or see what kind of shampoo or body wash you use, so she can get the same thing.

She will definitely look at all your stuff, taking note of what you like and what not. She'd really love you more if you had anything purple in your room.

She'd really try to become your friend outside of her vigilante persona. She really wants a full in person connection with you. She doesn't want it all to be one sided.

I feel like the more time goes on, the more delusional she'd get. Like the more she gets invested in you, the cloudier her rational thinking becomes.

She wants to do everything with you. Go shopping, hangout, sleep, eat, bathe, just everything. I could see her wanting to take baths and showers with a romantic or platonic darling. She just wants to bask in your existence, is that wrong?

She would get you gifts and wrap them up in anything purple. Her gifts are probably purple too. You'll probably have a lot of purple in your life with her around, and she's not planning on going anywhere any time soon.

Will totally aand utterly fight for you and alongside you. Whether or a hero or a civilian, if someone picks a fight, Stephanie will always have your back.

She'd be pretty clingy but not suffocatingly. She'll leave you enough space to be comfortable, but she's always by your side. No one would be able to separate her from you, and she wouldn't let them anyhow.

In the end, it all comes down to being close with you and she won't let anyone come between that, between your relationship.
