The Summer We Changed

So apparently I had some very specific thoughts about Jeno for the glitch mode comeback that I needed to get out of my system. I thought it would be about 2000 words but like y/n and Jeno's relationship things escalated 🤩 I've split it into three chapters just to make reading easier, but you can just read it all in one. Please take this for the silly bit of mental escape that it is.

Chapter 1: The House by the Lake

Thank god that’s over.

Despite the sun doing its best to make you smile the long drive from the city with nothing but your thoughts for company had left you sweaty and, quite frankly, completely shattered. This week could absolutely do one.

It had all started that Monday. You had been on your way to the publisher when your editor called to postpone. Some palaver to do with a printers strike. This was annoying but not exactly life changing. Except it did mean you got home two hours earlier. Two hours in which your boyfriend, who shall only be known henceforth as that F. B. (aka Fucking Bastard), had apparently been planning to spend burying his cock between his secretary’s thighs. It was humiliating enough to be cheated on in your own home after seven years, but as an author you found it even more galling that it was so cliché. Oh well, at least he wasn’t shacking up with my best friend.

In the days that followed there had been a fair bit of shouting and apologising and some throwing of heavy objects and then some more shouting and apologising. All of which ended up in you packing the car and making arrangements to spend the next two months at the only sanctuary you had left.

Now that you stood in the driveway, the Lake House was smaller than you remembered. It belonged to a close friend of your mother’s: Auntie Lee. When you were a child both families would come and stay for much of the summer, spending idle days swimming in the lake or playing games in the meadow beyond. You remembered one year when the fireflies were so numerous it was like a galaxy spread out over the water. You and your sister and the Lee kids had crept out from your bedroom and onto the dock in the dark to watch them. It had felt like you were at the centre of your own universe.

How old had you been then? Fourteen, fifteen? That had been at least twenty years ago, if not more. You’d been back a few times but probably not since you had gone off to university. And yet for some reason it was the first place you’d thought of when being faced with homelessness. When the news broke of that FB’s infidelity, your mom had wanted you to move back in with them. It was tempting but you had a manuscript to finish and now you were over thirty you really valued your privacy. When you’d called Auntie she’d been really happy for you to stay, saying the house had been empty too long and refusing all but a bit of cash to pay for bills.

Dragging your suitcase up to the porch, over the dodgy third step, you go to unlock the door and step back into your past. It really hasn’t changed. Sure, the walls have been painted. Didn’t they used to be green? And that looks like a new couch, but apart from some cosmetic updates it is still the same open-plan downstairs with the view through the back of the house to the lake itself. You stand there for a moment, soaking in the tranquil moment the sun begins to mellow as it moves towards the water, and take a breath. I can do this.

That’s the moment you hear a bang coming from upstairs.

Shit, what was that?

Despite your usual disdain for the idiot in the horror movie who walks towards the eerie noise you do just that. Grabbing the retro glass paper weight from the sideboard as a makeshift weapon, you begin to creep up the stairs. The sounds seem to be coming from the bathroom. You clutch the paper weight tighter as you sneak down the hall, as if you had the upper body strength to take someone down.

Holy shit.

You don’t have time to think of a better plan as the bathroom door opens to reveal a strange man wrapped in only a towel, obviously fresh out the shower. Before he can react you rush at him, hitting him hard on the shoulders.

“OW, HEY WHAT THE FUCK?”

“GET OUT THIS HOUSE YOU PERVERT”

“OUCH, HEY, STOP! STOP! NOONA, STOP IT’S ME”

Noona?

You pause, confused, and the guy seizes the moment to grab your arms and pin them to your sides. He’s strong and now you aren’t attacking him you have time to register his biceps and six pack. Not the time, woman.

“Noona, what are you doing here?”

For the first time you stop struggling and take a good look at his face. The fight drains out of you.

No it can’t be… “Jeno?”

I think SCoTUS and the hearings are enough of a shock 2 the status quo like dems do have room to moderate if they're smart and stop announcing that theyre the adultsin the room all the time lol. I live in TN and this stuff IS penetrating like there is some room to make gains and. Ok i know this is going to sound incredibly disgusting and callous but. A LOT of local news/fb posts have been going around abt those poor kids who dont have access to abortion and if that stays relentless thru the summer there's room to twist GQP talking points abt children and safety but itll HAVE to come from candidates who pose as "outsiders" to the ~~radical left socialist agenda~~. This is going to sound like a psyop but now that primaries are over dems CAN win if they tea party from closer 2 center. People here are groomed to respond to that energy only and block out any attempt to be reasonable or campaign on policies. And they are NOT happy w the Republican party either btw like the rifts in that party CAN be exploited (and im gratified 2 see that they were in a couple of races).

Of course the true believers in social conservatism are celebrating but like the country club Republicans in places like Louisville or Nashville or Indianapolis who always thought Roe was settled law are panicking. Even people who identify as pro-life like Rep.Nancy Mace for instance don't want little 10-year-old girls to be forced to bear a child or young mothers to die of ectopic pregnancies, and in a lot of states, there aren't exceptions! And, even if there exceptions in some states, it's really hard to prove rape under the eyes of the law and oftentimes, doctors don't know the life of the mother is in danger until she's already dead like most doctors aren't going to risk their careers if the punishment is $100,000 or 10 years in prison or whatever.

A lot of people on Twitter are claiming that normies don't notice stuff like NARAL and Planned Parenthood, the two biggest reproductive rights organizations, refusing to use the word "women" but like, who do you think donates the most to those orgs? It's suburban cishet white women, who possibly even voted Republican in the past! I don't personally care about gender-neutral language one way or another (I often say "people who can get pregnant") but for one reason or another, it's really making a lot of otherwise very liberal people mad.

Like, I hate to break it to people on Twitter but the NYT may be anti-democracy and partially responsible for Hillary Clinton's 2016 loss because of his fixation on her emails or whatever, but it's not a socially conservative newspaper like I'd say 95% of op-ed writers for the NYT voted for Biden (minus like Liz Bruenig lol) and the majority of the paper's readers are liberals as well! The title and framing of this article is horrific since of course the people who use gender-neutral language aren't responsible for Roe being overturned, that would be conservatives, but like, if you look at the comments, a lot of people are agreeing with the actual content of the article, and they aren't Republicans. Just some food for thought.

What really matter is...

There’s an awful lot of chatter this time of year about things that, ultimately, don’t matter. The third QB, the 6th or 7th WR, the 4th tight end. Yes, these are real position and roster battles, but do they matter? Your 6th or 7th wide receiver won’t be active most weeks and if they are, they’ll only see playing time on special teams. Plus, let’s be real, if our third QB gets any game action, that means things have gone off the rails.

Invest in rookies

It’s possible the Packers will opt to carry only 3 tight-ends. At this point, rookies Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave are roster locks based on their draft status. That means veterans Josiah Deguara and Tyler Davis may be fighting for one job, depending on if they call Deguara a TE or a FB. What really matters: is getting Musgrave and Kraft as much playing time as possible. Tight end is one of the toughest positions to step into in the NFL. We already know the potential upside of Deguara and Davis is fairly limited.

RB Tyler Goodson continues to make plays in camp. Rookie Lew Nichols is a 7th round draft pick, and Brian Gutekunst is known for keeping his draft picks. What really matters is: a healthy Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon so Goodson and Nichols don’t become primary players this year.

We still don’t know a realistic return date for Eric Stokes due to his foot and knee injury. What really matters is 7th round draft pick Carrington Valentine reminds some of us of a rookie free agent who once started a Super Bowl for the Packers. How happy would the Packers be if Valentine is even close to as good as Sam Shields?

Elgetron & Bak

The Packers have enviable depth on the offensive line. Yosh Nijman, Josh Myers and Zach Tom are battling for two starting jobs. Caleb Jones, Rasheed Walker and Luke Tenuta are solid tackle prospects who could make many NFL rosters. Even Sean Rhyan, who, like me, many had written off, should make the final roster. What really matters is: good health from left guard Elgton Jenkins and maximizing the playing time of David Bakhtiari, clearly the teams’ best lineman.

What really matters is: Jordan Love, Jordan Love and Jordan Love. Like most NFL teams, the Packers odds of success drop through the floor if they lose their starter for more than a game or two.

Let the man kick

Rookie kicker Anders Carlson has had some rough days. He’s also shown a strong leg, with some reporters saying the ball “explodes off his foot.” What really matters is: do the Packers have the patience and the stomach to deal with rough days from Carlson? As with Jordan Love, Carlson needs a long leash. Don’t repeat the Vikings mistake by panicking and cutting a legit talent like they did with his brother Daniel. Worst case scenario, there are free agent kickers out there.

Lukas Van Ness, Kingsley Enagbare, Preston Smith and Rashan Gary fresh off the PUP list can give the Packers a formidable pass rush. What really matters is caution with Rashan Gary. Players rarely perform at their peak ability until 18 months past an ACL surgery. I’ll be just fine if Gary isn’t active for the first few games.

Jordan Love has had an up and down camp. Sometimes he’s wowed with great passes. Other times he’s misses a big throw or hits defenders in the numbers with interceptions. What really matters is patience and progress. By the time the Packers visit Detroit on Thanksgiving, we should have a pretty good idea of what’s possible for the first-time starter.

Birthday Celebrations

The weather cooperated by the late afternoon for a beach day 🏖️ on my birthday 🥰 This Cancer-Scorpio-Scorpio ♋️☀️♏️🌜♏️🌅was literally in her element to ring in her 45th year 🎂

My mom and I got mani-pedis on Thursday (her treat 🥰) and delicious savory crepes on Friday at a Victorian coffee house in Franklin, MA. Then I headed to Charlestown RI for my first dunk in the ocean 🌊 (finally!) & a super indulgent peanut butter cup sundae—balanced out later by a plate full of sautéed garden veggies for dinner.

I gifted to myself 3 new-to-me books on Surrealism (as a poet, I'm on a Joyce Mansour kick these days) that I bought from Better World Books 📚 PLUS I got a plethora of perfect presents including an owl vase, mug, & crystal statue, #TedLasso candies, a Wicked Plants coloring book (to go with the original book, which my sister gave me for Xmas a while back), the cutest little cat shaped gum holder, and that hilarious candle 🕯️

And, most importantly, I heard from so many people with texts, pics, Snaps, FB posts, & DMs — I felt the love 💗 for sure 🥰 It was a very happy birthday indeed! Plus, there's more to come during my birthday staycation. More beach trips and meetups in the coming days 💕🙏😊 Thank you all!

I refuse to explain my actions anymore. I refuse to wait on anyone anymore. After lies, deceit, and having blame put on me…I am rising from the ashes and choosing me. I’m choosing my happiness. I choose who I put my energy into.

“Isn’t that too fast?” Well I’ll be damned….wasn’t it fast for the other individual to be acting sneaky and keeping hush hush and blaming their actions on me for the past idk 5 months? Isn’t it sneaky that they decided to show their colors when I decided to rise above?

Yes I’m still bitter. Yes I still hurt. Yes my partner is aware as I show him what I post. I’m done sitting here and always taking blame for someone else’s actions. Do not blame me for your mental status that was there long before I came along. (I respect mental health. You obviously don’t care/understand mine) Do not blame my mother on your actions. I know my mother can be difficult sometimes (Sorry mom) but aren’t all parents difficult at times especially when serious traumatic loss occurs? Do not accuse me of cheating again, because yes I accepted my mistakes 5 years ago. I was honest and open and I will be open with my fb friends and those who like to look/stalk. I cheated on them with another female. BUT I was OPEN with what I did. I did not hide it, I did not blame you. I did however blame it on the circumstances at hand but I still accepted what I did and admitted to it. Knowing what I COULD potentially LOSE. Knowing what was at risk. But I knew HONESTY was right and the way to set some of my guilt and my pain free. No Im not perfect. No it does NOT make excuse for my actions. But I will be damned to be told I’m the same girl from highschool. I AM NOT!

I refuse to water myself down to make another person comfortable! I refuse to change my dreams for my dad ( I love you dad And I know you always meant well) I refuse to change my dreams for any man who thinks I am flawed. You may call me stubborn but you CLEARLY do NOT know the journey I have gone through. Your CLEARLY do not know who I am and what I am CAPABLE of!

So as I type this, it has weighed on me since you decided to hop ship. You can tell all your friends and our mutuals how I am the reason you decided to sneak around behind my back and blame me for your actions. You leave out all the details and twist your words to make yourself seem so well presented while you dirty my name. You have not only done this to me once but twice. You hop ship when some one gets a new best friend and you MUST have a taste! I promise you Karma will present themselves to you with my pain 10x fold. I promise you.

Do not leave me your string of hope. Telling me that we were meant to be and will eventually become ”one.” I don’t need your false hope. I don’t need your comfort. Your words are false and your actions speak loud and clear. I wanted to be your friend but with a catch. If it was who I thought then I want nothing from you. You go ahead and stay in your comfortable cocoon.

5. RE: BJD Divaz

I’ve been a customer of BJD Divaz since they first started, when it was only run by Chart3rline. I even contacted other BJD companies trying to persuade them to work with Divaz as their US representative. Most declined because they didnt like D's commission fee, but I was able to persuade a few of them.

I asked them to purchase a doll off DOA because I couldnt afford the asking price, and while they did, I found out later that instead of agreeing to purchase the seller's price, they negotiated the price to be lower. This significantly cheaper price was not passed down to me. I paid the full price +the commission fee based on that full price. I am disappointed I was not told this. This is when I stopped viewing them as a "friend" and instead, as a business. I dont hold this against them, it’s context to what Im going to say later.

I’ve stopped purchasing from D after my recent order from them. This company usually takes 3 or less months to make a doll. I’ve ordered the doll from D and it took 11 months. They let me know it arrived to them in March and that it will be shipped soon, except it only shipped on July, and only after I sent them several "reminder" emails. Before people in the comments try to put the blame on me for not sending a reminder soon, please keep in mind that I acknowledged the email in March and confirmed everything and they keep stressing to not send them emails because they are busy, I’ve emailed once every month since. I’ve since switched to ACBJD and Ive been happy with communication and the dolls ordered. I imagine ACBJD gets the same amount of emails, but they dont berate their customers if they email more than once.

I regret when people wanted a D0llshe, but not deal with him, I always recommended D. I would warn people of ordering directly and instead go through D. They assured buyers they would be handling communication and all the efforts so they wouldnt worry, except they didn’t. A person that I’ve recommended D to, who surpassed 2 years, keeps messaging me for help because D wouldnt reply to their emails. She is respectful, sweet and a timid person, not a Karen. This person, emailed D without a reply so would email a week later, only to be told that their email would be pushed down to the bottom if emailed again. No response, so she goes to FB and IG, who both tell her to email because they arent the person running orders. Finally got a response that they would get their refund, after D0llshe sends D's payment, but minus the PP fees. 3 months later and theres no refund, only a promise of them getting it later. Why is the customer missing out on fees when they have no doll? Customer emails d0llshe and he says he cant offer refund, because they didn’t order through them, which is understandable, but when all options are out for a customer, do you blame them for chargebacks?

If anyone files a chargeback, D will be blacklisting them from every company they rep, as in blacklisting you from buying direct from those companies. I urge everyone who has negative experiences with D to email the companies they rep instead of venting on confession blogs, and writing your experiences on social media. Make it count and send letters to the companies they represent, and please provide proof because they will try to make you out to be a liar.

Speaking of, they made vague posts on cl0ver singing for charging paypal fees, and that they offer guarantees as an official dealer, except when offering refunds, to non delivered products I might add, they are keeping the fees, and offered no help with d0llshe, even before they ended their dealership with them. Someone on DOA was told to not email them unless the wait time surpassed 1.5 years. They are even so petty that they post screenshots with the full name and address (dox) of the customer on purpose and then delete it out a day later as if they just realized their "mistake".

Before you try to make excuses for them about the fires, keep in mind, I am dealing with a business. The lower price negotiation with the DOA sale, I am in no way obligated to give them a pass or treat them as a friend when they made it clear that our relationship is strictly business. Their issues, are not my issues. D0lk got dragged for not shipping in time, others, including artisans, got dragged for being so late with communication and sending back refunds for cancelled orders. Why does D get to be exempt?

The supporters are the worst part of this, because of instead of being honest so D can improve, they support them for being "real". For example, look how micemage words it, to make it seem like this criticism is from one person, when there are people on addicts who didn’t have good experience. Check the bjd dealers tag here, you will see the supporters in the comments going off on any and all criticism of D. Some have sane comments, but the majority are cult like and try to identify the person venting as if it’s one person. Addicts deletes threads with criticism asking people to instead direct it to their feedback group; which lets be honest, no one is going to do because its "not that bad", and most dont want to join a new group, which is mostly dead.

This is my first and last confession on D, I’ve emailed each company they rep and told them my experience as well as contacting the 3 month wait company, with screenshots of my order, how they handled it, and the excuse they used to put blame on the company for being so late (package arrived march to D, 4 months to be shipped is on D, not the company). I’m not using company or order details because I know they are petty enough to try to identify me and publicly shame me like they have to others. This and the threat of suing is why not many people like to go public with their experience. They just keep feedback neutral, move on and never deal with again.

6. Listen, I can't take you seriously in regards to BJD!vas because you're posting on a confession blog. If you were serious, you would have posted in buyer beware groups, DoA reviews or the board to get things resolved, or you would have made a complaint to the BBB. And your language makes you come off more as someone with an agenda rather than someone who is trying to warn people. If shipping is the issue, stop buying with standard shipping and pay the extra price for express shipping. I saw one of you complain that it sat with them for 20 days; that's probably because you're not the only one and they more than likely have a queue to check and then ship out. Do mistakes happen? Yes, because we're human. I've been in this hobby for a few years now and it seems like most people know you're going to have to wait, sometimes even outside the expected wait time. And shipping something as big as a doll is a timely endeavor. I shouldn't have to say that.

My point is simply to stop complaining on an confession board and either take it to the places previously mentioned. Posting here behind the anonymous mask makes you sound like a petulant child who didn't get their way right away.

7.My only issue with BJD Divaz is how I never get any updates. Every email, they tell me to join their facebook page for status updates. I dont have a FB and I dont want to create one. I bought my doll through their website, updates should be posted on their website, or they could send me an email. That isnt asking much.

8. Since there seems to be a lot of either "completely negative everything sucks" or "everything was sunshine and rainbows" confessions about bjd!vaz I thought I'd chime in with a neutral review.

PROS

-They were always polite and professional in their emails, and gave me very detailed answers to my questions.

-I got exactly what I ordered, so no mix ups or missing parts or anything like that.

-I think them being forthcoming about personal issues (only one person on staff, illness, the flooding isue etc.) on social media is good, since it keeps customers updated as to why there might be delays.

-If you live in the US their shipping is very reasonable.

CONS

-Reply times were varied. Sometimes it could take over a week, sometimes a couple hours.

-My order took about 10mo which, when comparing to other people who ordered through the same company around the same time, was about 3x as long as if I bought it direct and 2x as long if I had gone through a different dealer. I get some of the waiting time is out of their control, but it was kind of ridiculous.

-They dont necessarily ship the same day they send you a tracking number. I wish they said something like, "Here's your tracking number, our pickup is Xday so it should start moving after that" just so I could be aware.

All in all no major complaints. I got my doll and all that. Their lone employee is clearly overwhelmed. I hope they hire another person, if only to give the one a break.

Truthfully, I most likely won't buy through them again. I'd rather pay the international shipping and go direct, than deal with the extensive wait time. I'd still recommend them to someone looking for a very long layaway, though. I paid in full, but if I had a 12mo layaway I would've never known they weren't ready to ship my doll until month 10.

What anime shops do you usually order from? I wanna get a Malleus, but I’m not sure about ordering straight from the site. If I can find any of the anime shops in my area, I’d be much happier ordering through there.

I'm not US or EU based, I really don't know if I can help you in this front ó v ò

What I can tell you is more less how I found my shops:

There's two popular plazas/malls here that are known for the otaku-weeb-gamer crowds that frequent them. You could ask around in shops specialized in figures and figurines to see if they could order the one you're interested in

If these plazas have Facebook or web pages, try and search if they tag or share posts made by individual shops, so you can then go to those shop pages and ask if they can get the products you want

Local anime-comic conventions can also be a place to know local or in-country shops. Many of them have business cards, phone number or emails to share with you

Lastly, Facebook has been very useful to me these last 3 years for merch buying. There are pages who constantly update their catalogues with in-season anime & game merch that was just released or announced, and all of the shop pages I've ordered from are open to get you the products you like.

With all of these, there are some things I can advise:

See if they have a nice influx of customers, and how "up to date" their merchandise is

[If they have a page] Search for reviews left by other people, read comments left in posts, see if they actively interact and update the status of shipments to their customers. Many of these shops rely on their buyers' opinions, see if they have albums titled "Satisfied Customers" or something similar.

Along with this, see if they have albums titled "New Arrivals" / "Products with Owner, still" - These allow you to see which articles have been picked up from delivery and are now with your seller, don't be afraid to ask if something you see there is yours (of course, if you order said product. Doing this even helps the seller know who to notify about their stuff being with them, update any taxes that were added, etc.)

[For online FB shops, pages & physical stores] Ask/search if they've been to events and conventions, this can speak well of a store, as those events aren't easy to get organized in.

DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK IF THEY ALLOW EASIER FORMS FOR YOU TO PAY FOR YOUR STUFF!!!! My most liked shops allow you to gradually pay stuff until the item's release month arrives or the article physically gets to the shop. Normally, they upload the item you wish to order and with it the ways you can pay (XX monthly payments of $YYY amounts; 50% to place order and the other 50% after it ships/arrives to them, etc.)

This is more of a little something to keep in mind, it varies from store to store: Carefully watch if their catalogues include international shipping costs. Sometimes they are, sometimes they are not, and this can be a put off to some... Do keep this in mind

COMPARE PRICES!!!!

Keep a notebook or spreadsheet with the information of your products, when you ordered them, payments you've done and need to do in next months, release dates, if they include international shipping or not, so on and so forth. PUT OF YOUR PART!! Be responsible with your purchases!

Don't be afraid to ask and clear up ANY doubts you have, neither to ask if your stuff has arrived yet after release date has gone by

And always ALWAYS READ THEIR RULES AND ANALYZE THEM OVER AND OVER UNTIL YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND THEM BEFORE BUYING!!!!! I've seen time and time again people leave terrible review and start up beef with seller BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T READ RULES and try to put the blame on others instead of themselves. Don't be like that, be responsible

BONUS!!!

Sometimes shops have "left behind" and in stock products from where other buyers failed to keep up with their payments or forgot about their products and never asked to get them (IT HAPPENS, believe me)

They may have little sales and special events from time to time to make space for new shipments. Keep your eyes peeled for nice bargains for items of months/years gone by you were and still are interested in~

If you join itabag groups, otaku shopping groups, anime trade groups on FB... keep your eyes peeled bc People will sometimes recommend shops to buy from!
