First Years with Ash’s Pokemon

Headcanons of the TWST boys with Ash’s Pokemon: First Years Edition!

Sorry they're kind of short, hope you all enjoy!

Ace- Gliscor

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!?!?

vampire-bat scorpion thing :/

Ace is completely confused about Gliscor, and is also low key terrified

I mean, the way the met, Gliscor literally swooped in and picked Ace up and into the air

so while Ash and Gliscor are laughing their butts off, Ace is up in the air, scarred for life

also doesn't help when Ash explains the dex entry about how silent and deadly Gliscor is

let him down!

Ash sorta starts to take pity on him and makes Gliscor put him down, but now whenever Ace shows up, Gliscor will always be there to swoop him into a 'hug'

spare him pls (lmao no)

Deuce- Sceptile

as Sceptile stared at the poor boy, there was only one thought in his head

SO COOL!!!

meanwhile, Sceptile's looking at him like "who's this weird lost child?"

"the one that destroyed the chandelier"

"a h"

Takes a while, but Deuce manages to just barely get Sceptile to warm up to him

the two then have this weird truce, mainly because Sceptile kind of likes him if he ignores the dumbassery

totally has the same "talk shit, get hit" vibes Deuce gets, so there's a sort of unity the two gain when protecting Ash/when they just generally get pissed off

Deuce watches Sceptile use his moves and he's awestruck, lmao

"No Deuce, you can't learn Leaf Blade..." -Ash Ketchum

Sceptile sorta just keeps to himself for the most part though

they can actually coexist in the same room unlike Ace and every single one of Ash's pokemon lmao

Jack- Lycanroc

a wolf, with rocks in it???

doesn’t it hurt?

and he gets his answer when Lycanroc loses its mind when he tries to pet it

"yeah, don't do that, Lycanroc hates it when people or pokemon mess up his fur"

"oh NOW you tell me" meanwhile he's got a rock painfully poking his side

Ash explains how Lycanroc actually went on full rampages whenever he got dirty, and Jack is glad he didn't get an Accelrock to the face

it takes a bit, but Lycanroc does warm up to Jack more than the rest of Ash's pokemon, mainly because wolf solidarity

if Ash is hanging out with Jack, then you best believe that Lycanroc is close by

Epel- Gible

a baby?

A DRAGON BABY!?

watched the baby pull a draco meteor and epel regrets underestimating him

is lowkey concerned when Gible just begins chewing on Ash's head, but she acts like she doesn't feel it, so he sorta just stands there

out of all of Ash's Pokemon, Gible is one of the few to warm up to the guys quite quickly

Gible bites epel too jbksjahjds

Vil, upon seeing the marks, has a heart attack lmao

but in all seriousness, Gible actually really likes Gible, and the dragon is growing on Epel, so if he ever does get bit again, he literally just shrugs it off

it's how Gible shows his affection, VIL

Ortho- Krookodile

this is probably the weirdest pairing

saw Krookodile and thought he was the coolest ever, especially with his sunglasses

enjoys watching Krookodile train with all of Ash's other strong/fully evolved pokemon, especially since he can record data for himself later

with such a wide movepool (knowing Dragon Claw, Aerial Ace, Dig, and Stone Edge) Ortho is in awe

100% the two would power up a death laser/Stone Edge in an attempt to destroy the school together

the amount of pictures he has with Krookodile is astounding, Idia is lowkey jealous

his personal fave is of him with Krookodile and they both have sunglasses on, looking cool

Sebek- Sirfetch’d

A BATTLE OF KNIGHTS

Sirfetch’d does not like Sebek one bit XD

Sebek is too loud for Sirfetch'd, and he insults their trainer any chance he gets

HOW DARE-

i wouldn't be surprised if Sirfetch'd has attacked Sebek on multiple occasions lol

even then, i'm pretty sure Sebek takes it as a challenge and tries to fight back, despite Ash's warnings

every time he gets his ass kicked though, he blames Ash for it, and at one point, homegirl just picks him up and tosses him across the yard

Sirfetch'd is laughing and Sebek would be lying if he said he wasn't scared (because he was)

girl can carry and throw a tree, idk why he wasn't scared before dwbjsksm

slowly learns to respect Ash and her ability to keep up with her Pokemon

grows to tolerate Sirfetch'd, and same is said for the 'mon

but the tensions is definitely still there lmao

A/N: I'm glad you liked it 💕 So sorry this took so long to post, requests will be slow now since I have school.

Contents: Fluff, slight angst on deuce's part but fluff at the end! Me channeling all my dislike for Sebek in the form of crack at the start.

Aᴄᴇ Tʀᴀᴘᴘᴏʟᴀ...the trouble maker

• Ace has experience with dating so she would know that she has feelings for you.

• Once she realizes though she tries to play it off saying that it will wear off in a few days.

• It didn't.

• Her feelings for you just grew, your laugh, your smile, your voice, your eyes, your personality..

• Hell everything about you makes her swoon.

• After weeks she can't take it anymore, she's scared that you might reject her and ruin your friendship but she needs to let these feelings off her chest.

• She starts being a bit more nice and supportive.

• Less teasing, insults to a minimum and she actually starts helping you with errands.

• Even you start getting suspicious with her behavior.

"What? Are you saying I can't be nice that hurts y'know?"

• Deuce doesn't by it, Jack thinks it's strange, Epel is wondering when the old Ace will come back, and Sebek is quiet for once.

• Can't they all have a little faith?

• And besides she's doing all this for you to see her in a better light and hopefully get you to return her feelings.

It's time, today is the day she will confess her feelings to you. She left a letter on your desk earlier telling you to meet her in one of the vacant classrooms. Its been so long since Ace was nervous about something other than getting collared by her dorm leader.

A sudden creak from the classroom door snapped Ace out of her train of thought. There you were, ethereal as ever though she might be exaggerating it's the truth. She'll never say that in your face though, it was her own little secret, just like her feelings but that secret needs to be told or she will regret it.

"So it was you who gave me letter huh Ace? You could have asked me directly y'know?" You tease, Ace was starting to regret giving you that letter and is also very close to chickening out on her feelings but it's too late now "Yeah, yeah I get it, but i need to talk to you about something.." Ace trailed off, you were taken aback for a second before putting your focus solely on Ace "If you called me here alone to say it then it must be important." It truly is, if she had to guts to say anything other than her feelings she would have said that.

"Yeah, so I'm not that good with this stuff but I just wanted to say that I care about you, a lot and I..." Ace trailed off "I..?" you question, your eyebrows raising in curiosity of what the girl will say next. Goddamnit why can't she say it!?

"look I like you more than a friend okay!?" She said it. Your eyes widen before an expression of happiness settled on your features.

You threw yourself on her, wrapping her in a big hug "I like you too Ace." Ace thinks she can die happy now.

Dᴇᴜᴄᴇ Sᴘᴀᴅᴇ...the earnest card soilder

• Unlike Ace, Deuce has absolutely no experience with dating.

• But that doesn't mean she never had a crush before.

• So she would know when she likes you, but she brushes it off thinking you won't like her back, just like the rest.

• and the risk that comes from telling you her feelings is too high.

• But as much as she doesn't want you to know her crush she is unintentionally obvious about it.

• her face turns pink way to much, she starts tripping on her words and she flinches everytime you touch her.

• And the worst part is that she thinks you don't know a thing.

• So unless you are as oblivious as Silver you would definitely know about Deuce's feelings.

• Since Deuce absolutely refuses to tell her feelings, since I'm assuming you like her back you have to take the initiative and confess first.

Deuce was unsure on whether or not she should accept the letter you have been passing her for the nth time now. Sure she was curious about the letter's contents but she needed to listen to the lecture this time, she failed in the last test and needed to get her grades back up.

But that doesn't mean her patience lasts forever.

Deuce sighs as you pass her back the note she had been ignoring for an hour now, enough was enough. She finally took the note from you, your hands slightly touching. Deuce tried to calm down her beating heart but was unsuccessful considering the obvious blush on her face. She opens the note and instantly stops breathing when she reads the first few words.

"I know you like me"

Her heart instantly dropped. You knew, is this the reason for the letter? To cut your friendship? She knew this would happen eventually but it hurts, way more than it should have. Her heart a heavy weight on her chest, her eyes starting to water. Why does it hurt so much?

A hand on her shoulder startled her, successfully dragging her out of her despairing thoughts. There you were attractive as ever, even in her current state you still manage to pull on her heart strings. Just how cruel can you get?

as if you knew exactly what was going through her head you gave her a comforting smile, pointing at the rest of the words she didn't even bother to read.

"But don't worry, I like you too. Wanna go out on a date this saturday?"

Deuce was a bit embarrassed now, mostly due to her ignoring the rest of the letter's contents, but her happiness wins over in the end. Her heart that was once heavy is now light and practically beating out of her chest. Turning to look at you she says her answer to your invitation "Yes!"

Jᴀᴄᴋ ʜᴏᴡʟ...the lone wolf

• Jack has no experience with romantic gestures whatsoever.

• Not only does her straight laced nature prevent her from catching any romantic feelings but her stature is just intimidating.

• I mean, have you seen this woman? Anyone intrested in her is far too scared to approach her and if they do they'll just be met with a dismissive glance.

• So it surprise to everyone including her that she fell for someone and hard.

• Since this is her first crush she's painfully obvious, try as she might she cant hide it and fully blames it on her tail.

• Whenever you approach her face turns a slight pink while her tails wags uncontrollably, even then she still speaks with you as if she isn't overjoyed about being in your presence.

• Wanting to show her interest, as if it already wasn't obvious enough she starts courting you gently.

• Inviting you to her jogs, study dates, lunch dates..

• And after weeks of courting and you showing your interest she confesses in the most "Jack" way possible.

You and Jack are currently in her room taking care of the variety of cacti she owns. You had asked her about it before, but she just said that she simply liked them and soon enough you started to like them too after taking care of them together. You laughed lightly at the first time you were excited about your cactus (Jack let you have one of them, she has too many anyway) that was once a tiny stud growing into a tall cactus!

"What's got you laughing?" You turn to the beast woman beside you, currently holding a small watering can for her cactus "Oh nothing, just remembering the first time I got excited over our little plant babies." Jack's face turned slightly pink at you calling them your babies..

Her tail is wagging now "Awww, so you like being plant parent~" You teased lightly. Jack huffed, her tail really does like betraying her. "But anyway why did you wanna meet? Other than taking care of your little garden." Ah right she forgot about that. Jack was fidgeting now, slightly nervous to tell you the reason she invited you. Jack took a deep breath through her nose, it's now or never.

"Well I wanted to uh tell you something.." Jack reached for a thin box beside her before continuing "I...have liked you for a while now..and I was wondering if you wanted to date..?" Jack looked closely for any sort of reaction but your face was just blank. Jack's courage was wavering now, her ears drooping slightly. But your next few words caught her off guard.

"But aren't we already dating?"

Jack's face instantly heat up, was she really that obvious? So much so that you thought both of you were together? While she is happy that you like her back but she is slightly ashamed for making her feelings for you so obvious. You took Jack's hand in yours "Say how about we make it official."

Eᴘᴇʟ Fᴇɪʟᴍᴇʀ...the fairest queen's protegè

• Epel is familiar with the concept of love, mostly because she has to hear Rook singing her praises on its beauty.

• But just because she's familiar with it doesn't mean she has experience with relationships.

• But she did however have crushes in the past, but they were all just passing interests before she got over those feelings.

• That is until she met you, you captured her heart. Making her unable to get over you.

• Making her feel giddy every second she spends with you, making her want to cherish you for the rest of her life, your marriage...

• To keep it short she is down bad, wanting to see if you share the same feelings she courts you subtly.

• More apple carvings will be gifted to you, some homemade meals, bouquets of the most beautiful flowers! <3

• Epel spends every second she can with you, trying to make her chances with you higher.

• Little does she know that she already captured your heart as well.

In Epel's hometown gifting your beloved a red apple on a spring afternoon makes sure your love lasts forever. It sounded silly to most people but to Epel no matter how silly it is she wants to make sure her love for you lasts forever and she hopes you'll return the gesture.

So here she was in the botanical garden with the most shiny red apple she could get, with a little purple ribbon wrapped in it's middle. She half regrets asking Rook for advice, since the upperclassmen insisted on the bow even if Epel thought it was unnecessary "Hey Epel!" The girl jumped at your voice, but slightly relaxed as you got closer. You were as dazzling as ever with your perfect smile, your hair slightly messy from running here yet you still manage to look so attractive in her eyes.

"So what did you wanna tell me?" Your breath was slightly laboured from running but you still managed to huff out your question. Epel swallowed, she opened her mouth to say something but the only thing that came out was a small squeak, her cheeks burned. How could she do that in front of you!? This was the moment she was gonna confess too goddamnit!

Feeling humiliated Epel just gave you the apple wordlessly. You took it into your hands, caressing it slightly. Epel was waiting in anticipation but as the seconds passed her former confidence is wavering "You know what forget it, just give it back-" "Why did you give me the apple?" Your question caught her off guard with how silent you were previously but it instantly made her realize something important.

She didn't tell you about the tradition...Gah! No wonder you were so confused, Epel quickly tried to fix the miscommunication "Its er a tradition back home to..give apples to your..true love.." Epel gulped before continuing "And if they accept it then your love is guranteed to last forever..." She mumbled the last part but you heard it all loud and clear.

You pulled her into a soft kiss, your lips slotting against each other perfectly. The was gentle but filled with love. You pulled back, a huge smile on your face "Let's make our love last together ey?"

Sᴇʙᴇᴋ Zɪɢᴠᴏʟᴛ...the future queen's loyal knight.

• With how stuck up she is I doubt she had atleast ONE romantic encounter.

• Other than what Lilia and her parents told her about love and maybe a few love novels she secretly read.

• So like any normal person Sebek screams to the top of her lungs when she figures out she likes you thanks for giving her a crisis Lilia while also not letting the whole dorm sleep.

• Sebek is absolutely appalled, how could she fall for a measly human like you!?

• And with a word full of advice from Lilia Sebek confronts you about it.

• Yes she just confronts you, none of that courting jazz you were expecting huh?

• It was your fault for seducing her and now you have to face the consequences!

The loud steps of the first year resounded the hallways, seemingly in a rush to find something or rather someone...and that someone was you. Just where were you!? How dare you not reveal yourself to her! You stole her heart and yet you hide away from your responsibilities! She continued to roam through the halls looking for you, interrogating every poor student she comes across on your whereabouts.

But after searching almost every nook and cranny of NRC she finally found you talking with some friends in the courtyard. "Human! How dare you hide from me!" Your friends winced at Sebek's volume but Sebek didn't care about how loud she was being since when did she ever care? "Oh! Sebek what do you nee-" Before you could finish the first year grabbed you by your wrist and dragged you away from the courtyard to somewhere more private. Sebek's abrupt stop made you bump into her slightly, you had an apology on the tip of your tongue but Sebek spoke before you could "What do you think you're doing human! Using your deceptive human tactics and manipulating me!"

You were practically gaping at her like a fish out of the water, deceptive? Manipulation? What is she even talking about? "Sebek I don't understand what you mean.." At this Sebek stopped with her rant for a quick moment before bursting out in another rant "Don't play dumb with me human! You know what you did, and I'm not going to fall prey to your underhanded tactics!" You were just tuning put anything the (half) fae was saying, eager for this whole thing to end. But the last statement she had said instantly caught your attention.

"How dare you capture my heart and make me fall in love with you!"

While saying this there was a furious blush on her face, suddenly everything she had done previously made so much sense. For someone like her at least "Sebek..I.." You were speechless, how were you going to tell her this? Sebek looked at you intently waiting for what you were going to say next. You gulped "I liked you for a while now..I just thought you were never going to return it.." Sebek was taken aback, you liked her? How could she not have noticed this? You were fidgeting awkwardly at her stare. You were about to take a step back but Sebek grabbed you by the waist, surprising both of you "Well, since we seduced eachother it's only right that we both take responsibility."

Hi, Miss Raven! What're your thoughts on the new characters' designs and the new cards we're getting?

I'll post my general thoughts below! I unfortunately don't know enough about Pinocchio myself to point out all the little easter eggs in their outfits, so I'll leave that to those who are more knowledgeable than me.

***Spoilers below the cut!!***

Regarding the NRC boys' looks overall, I think it's a very fun theme and very fitting for the location of the event. I like that they all still wear masks, just in a different context than in Glorious Masquerade. One thing I did notice is that the masks seem... same-y? Like they all resemble thick tree roots or something like that. So maybe they aren't masks at all, but they're associated with whatever the conflict in the story is. (I previously suggested mind control or the loss of consciousness, so maybe the "roots" play into that???) You can see the marionette theme Yana was going for, as well as some design elements from Black Butler's circus arc, very clearly. The poses for each of the boys, even the R cards, are extremely dynamic and imply a strong sense of movement. The ribbons are such a simple detail that contributes a lot to this sense of whimsy and flow.

Some comments I have on specific designs and poses:

Suspenders are so... Trey 💀 THERE'S REALLY NOTHING ELSE FOR ME TO ADD HERE, THEY JUST SUIT HIM

I like it when Trey makes these kind of slightly sus but plausibly deniable faces... He should make more of them...

I can't see the front of Jack's outfit that well, so I don't know if I can fully comment on it??? But I can see his. Like. Physique... coming through... That chest to waist ratio/j

Seeing Jack's tail like that kinda weirds me out. I think that's the first time we've gotten a "full" view of how the tails look coming out of the pants??? So maybe I'll get more used to it with time...

J WORD MY BELOVED dghgqwktvwukdviu1vdutw1513FR7vuofOTVUofvfaafvfyivs.,bk;mobsdb;ibuafetvuqoffSEythTOTqebivfguovqnafCUtuiUIEtt please ignore my bias 🤡 The way his top hat is angled and how there's a dark blue ribbon around him... It vaguely looks like he's trying to pass as Crowley, LOL

I like how his undershirt is frilled and how he has that sash at his waist it reminds me of the genderbent design for my TWST OC! The fact that both he and Floyd have the eel emblem that resembles a heart is also really cute~

Lilis is my favorite design of the R cards!! There's a very good distribution of ruffles throughout the look, and his knotted skirts fit well with his personal flair.

I'm not a huge fan of the style of hat Cater's wearing (sorry to all the Cay-kun stans out there), but I can appreciate his look. His dress appears more militant than Trey's, and his posing is certainly more aggressive--it's nice to see him in this new light.

Love L*ona-san’s new hairstyle here!! 👀

The way Floyd is posed reminds me of those people that walk around on stilts. I think I much prefer the coloration on Floyd's outfit than on Jade's, but I prefer Floyd's jacket to Jade's. I think Floyd's the best of the SR designs!

Shockingly, Vil's look doesn't stand out to me that much??? I enjoy his sash, but I don't immediately pick up on anything in his illustration that catches my eye.

His pose resembles that of a ballerina, which just makes me think about the time he assigned Epel and Deuce extra (ballet) dance lessons in book 5 ajdbhasivldsadued

Of the SSRs, Ace is definitely my favorite one. He just looks so dramatic soaking up that spotlight and trying to look cool while doing it... Bro's 100% thinking, "heheheheh, I'm SO awesome :))" in his head.

Ace's design also reminds me a lot of Jack Hearts (from Disney Villain Recruiters). Not sure if it was intentional or not, but I'm definitely super into it!

HHNNNNNGNGHGHHGHGNGNGHHGHGHGHGHHHHH I WANNA BITE HIS HEAD OFF AND BULLY HIM SO BAD, I WANNA WIPE THAT SMIRK OF FHIS DUMB FACEe Am I seriously about to revert back to my Brat Loving era for Trappola... Maybe so...

I was pretty much expecting a SSR Ace (because he's a trickster with a brother that works in an amusement park) and Ortho (literally a robot that became a real boy), but Kalim took me by surprise. In hindsight, I guess it makes sense though...? Kalim has a similar immature vibe as the other two (plus I do remember there being this one scene in Aladdin where the Sultan was dressed like a jester that was being maneuvered on puppet strings).

It's great that Kalim gets to be a little out of his usual element and make darker, more mysterious expressions like what we see in his new illustration. I'm not sure if I entirely agree with how he's dressed (the yellow jacket is WAY too bright), but I love his his coattails (???) trail behind him in waves.

OR-KUN MY SON 😭😭😭 As is the case with all of his gears, I adore how the devs creatively adapted clothing into metal parts for Ortho! The half-caplet is easily the best part of the whole look for me (the pattern on it reminds me of stars falling down)--and because Ortho has a smaller stature, the type of hat he's wearing isn't as offputting; it actually looks very cute on him.

ANYWAY, VERY HAPPY THAT ORTHO GETS TO HAVE A HALLOWEEN SSR TO MATCH HIS BROTHER'S HALLOWEEN SSR FROM LAST YEAR... They match!!!

... Is that the fucking cricket on Ortho’s cape... and the goldfish on Kalim’s scarf… AND THE CAT ON ACE’S WAIST… What does this meeeean 🤡

And now for my thoughts on the two new boys!! Honestly?? I don't actually have much to comment on in this regard because I try to reserve my judgment of characters until I've actually seen them in action. I haven't seen Pinocchio either, so I don't have a strong basis for what their personalities would be like based on their original Disney counterpart. I only vaguely understand that Honest John and Gideon trick children into visiting Pleasure Island... That's it, that's the full extent of my knowledge on that pair. I don't have any other expectations going in other than "yeah, these two are going to swindle me".

Gidel looks like a mix of Cheka and Ruggie to me (because of the hair and the eye shape). He seems like he’ll be the other guy’s goon, similar to how Jade and Floyd/Ruggie follow Azul/Leona. Nothing else for me to add, Gidel seems alright… Just a silly lil’ guy!

I have more… mixed thoughts on Ferro. One one hand, he looks like the exact kind of shady bitch I’d love. (You know, the ones that smile and lie and manipulate and drive a knife into your back and—LOOK, HE’S VERY J WORD CORE) On the other hand, I’m beating back the “you like cat/dog boys” allegations from my friends, so 💀 I can’t give in so easily/j

Looks-wise, Ferro’s iteration of the rat tail hair is not as ugly to me as Malleus’s is. (I think it’s because it looks more windswept!) I also really like how he dresses—very dapper 😌 and he can pull off green eyeshadow well!

I’m wondering how they’ll make Ferro different than the other con artists we’ve seen so far *eyes Octavinelle* but I’m keeping my hopes up since the devs did a good job remixing the “I have a dead brother and I feel immense guilt about it” backstory for Rollo (when Idia had a similar one). Looking forward to that~

I’m sure my thoughts will chance once I actually get to see them in the event! ^^ I’ll keep you posted. For now, I’ll keep cautious. (Actually, this fan art basically summarizes my current feelings on the two! I’m Rollo/j)

Tattoo/Soulmate AU People with magic typically get into tattooing because they have the ability to make soulmate tattoos, but it varies depending on romantic, platonic/queerplatonic, familial feelings or other ones. Trey, Vil and Leona run a shop together, Deuce wants to join, Viz accidentally becomes his adoptive sister it's all fun and relatively low on the angst actually lmao

FNAF AU lmao this one has so much angst but you probably knew that already, inspired more by the pizzaplex/security breach than any other FNAF game, but a lot of the same type of lore

Coraline AU in which Viz gets to be Leona's big (half) sister for once. Falena is the eldest and treated with respect, everyone knows Viz isn't the king's biological daughter but they have to put up with her because the queen does, and Leona was the attempt between the king and queen to fix everything - it didn't work and he feels that. Ends up using an escape to another world to try and avoid that feeling, only to realize something much more sinister on the other side.

Biological Sister AU not super intuitive, seeing as above, Viz is Leona's half sister, but in this au she is also related him, just via the king this time. Don't ask me why I named it this, but it is what it is, she's taken in by the royal family early on and tries to bring it together. Idk it was a fun idea at the time.

Genderbent AU I wanted to explore Vizzie's trauma if she was around a bunch of other girls instead of guys and it goes Poorly but it's fun lmao

DnD AU b/c I've never played DnD and wanted to kinda learn so it's DnD inspired but the rules/roles aren't super strict but the worldbuilding is SO MUCH FUN (there are SO many dynamics all going on at the same time its GREAT)

Medieval Fantasy AU This is moreso my S/O's AU than it is mine but I wanted to talk about it because it also has a lot of fun worldbuilding in it that we did together (like the effects of OB and whatnot in this world)(also heavily inspired by DnD)

Arranged Marriage AU Viz and Riddle both have very overbearing, traditional moms and end up together against each others wills and have to unlearn their distaste for each other before they can start really working together to find ways to make each other happy

Greek God/Epic AU In which Viz takes on the Odyssey with Leona as her guide - he wants to prove himself worthy of the title of a God, and she will do anything to protect her people. It gets Complicated fast. (I actually have art I drew for this au lmao)

Poppy Playtime AU Really fucking depressing tbh, again, upon the perfection of Ortho's robotic aids (he never died, just severely incapacitated), all the other children that were used as test subjects were abandoned as half done projects and experiments that resembled toys

Dance AU I throw a bunch of the characters into dance. Vil, Riddle and Neige are on top but all three of them are having Gender Issues but in Big Denial about it.

Fairy AU My S/O also developed this one initially but I have a few different headcanons from them :D

ok so i like rule 63 fanart in general, right? and i was planning on making designs for rule 63 versions of every Twisted Wonderland student (and for those who dont know rule 63 means genderbent)

i just reblogged a great post by @/sebastianthemadlad talking about why they personally don't like the transfem vil headcanon and it makes really good points. and after reading it i was like "cool! how do i recontextualize this with the rule 63 au?" and had a crisis because... how in the world do i flip the script with vil and epel. (decided last minute to put it under a cut bc way too long and ramble-y)

epel is often mistaken as a girl and gets upset by this and wants to be more masculine because of his traditional upbringing. okay.

so if she's a girl instead, would she get mistaken as a boy instead and want to be more feminine? or maybe she is super feminine and still wants to be masculine but thinks its wrong for her to think that? there's not much of a conflict if she's just okay with being a tomboy or being perceived as a masc woman because her upbringing says women aren't supposed to be masc.

and then vil. oh vil oh vil. i love vil a lot. the platonic ideal of a feminine man. like if harry styles actually did what his fans claimed he did.

sebastian's post mentioned that if vil actually was a trans women, she'd be a tomboy, because the whole point of the character is breaking gender norms. and this really stuck out to me because i was gonna make my rule 63 version of schoenheit a trans woman. so what to do about valerie schoenheit.

making her a tomboy doesn't quite sound right to me, because i think of tomboy as a pretty sport-sy archetype, and she doesn't really scream sporty. like, she's an actress and a model, and she's all about being elegant and beautiful. so tomboy might not be the right word to describe her, but "elegant" and "beautiful" is not just for feminine aesthetics. she could just be a masculine woman. i also kind of half tossed out the idea in the tags i left on that post about nonbinary schoenheit and it's still all kind of mush in my brain right now and i might not take that concept with val totally but i might just steal part of that idea to make her more androgynous too? idk. i made this post because i haven't settled on anything yet

right. also something i hate w genderbents is that people FORGET CHANGING THE GENDER OF A CHARACTER CHANGES A LOT IN THEIR STORY 99% OF THE TIMES unless a character is like vil where the way they present means A LOT in their story so if he were genderbent he'd present himself as the opposite gender, or like epel who would strictly force themselves to present themselves as their gender because they're desperate to feel validated because they've been shamed into believing following gender roles is the only way they can be their true gender, the way they dress or act wouldn't change

This blog isn't dedicated to any particular fandom, so don't be fooled by whatever my blog's current theme is. I post what I like. My main criterion to determine whether or not I post a fic here is whether or not I want to reread a fic someday. I'm a simple woman. (This blog is basically my library.)

Most of the fanfictions here are female reader or OC inserts. It's quite rare for me to post character/character fics because it's also rare for me to read character/character fics. Ideas for Au’s i might go into more depth

con artists au where all of them (willingly or not) are trained and forced to go on missions under blackmail and all of them are being trained to constantly be aware of people and surroundings

(ppl being put under surreal VR in Idia’s training with analyzed results of all they did wrong)

Soul song AU where all their magic is based around the tune that their soul produces, and what their soul’s music reacts towards (the beat, hum, whatever gets disorienting) and it’s all based off what they can do with their song to their advantage

littlest pet shop, where unlike the animal shelter au, it’s literally just NRC learning to take care of monsters and familiars cus one grim wasn’t enough

familiar au except it’s objects au, where everyone’s familiar is a random object and they have to carry it around and learn how to make a connection with an inanimate object and then use that connection to morph that object into different things and turn into an animal/some animate object (Trey carries a whisk, while Deuce might carry a cauldron, etc of how the objects can go)

genderbent! au, same thing as regular except it’s all really pretty girls (epel still really wants to be seen as tough and big sister Jackie helps)

coffee shop! au except all the diff dorms are different coffee shops w wildly different themes that gets aggressive over anything and everything

Detective! Au where it’s the exact same thing, except instead of coffee shops, their famous detective groups // the Tweels were involved in criminal activity but they also help/keep escaping anyways

ALTERNATIVE Detective! Au where Royal Sword Academy are the (better) detectives and NRC is a network of criminals all working together for a common goal (riches, comfort, fun, whatever you want)

How do you think a genderbent Savanaclaw would be like? Cuz, personally, I dont think Ruggie and Jack's respective personality and backstory would be changed but given Sunset Savannah's more gender equal society, it begs the question on how Leona wouldve been treated if he were a girl. Would he still have been feared and looked down upon? Would he have been more respected? Would there be different expectations on Leona?

***JUST A QUICK THING:*** I go off on a tangent about some feminist and egalitarian points in this post; I wasn't sure if I should tag them as content warnings or not (since I don't think those topics are too contentious?), but I wanted to at least slap this little message on here for those who may prefer to not read too deeply into that.

In the case of sexual dimorphism in wolves, male ones are larger and more aggressive (some sources I looked at also said males’ fur is fluffier). For hyenas, it is the females who larger and more aggressive than the males. As for lions, the males are larger and stronger (+ they have manes), but it is usually the lionesses that do most of the hunting. (Note that in Twisted Wonderland, lionesses are said to be stronger than lions.)

If those traits were to be carried over to fem!Jack and Ruggie, well 🤔 it’d probably have an impact in how they present themselves and in some behaviors, although I don’t think to such an extent that they come off as totally different characters. I don’t get the sense that these changes in personality and/or minor physical traits would alter their backstories in any significant way either 🤷‍♀️ This is honestly true of most genderbent characters; unless there’s some inherent part of their past, identity, or other lore tied to the concept of their gender, then it doesn’t largely impact the story, their background, or their character. (For example, Epel struggles with having his views of traditional masculinity and femininity challenged by Vil; Epel also has insecurities associated with how naturally feminine he looks despite wanting to be seen as “manly”. How would these issues be perceived and addressed differently if it were fem!Epel wanting to be masculine, given that society more readily accepts a girl wanting to be a tomboy over a guy that presents as feminine?)

I don’t know if I’d call the Afterglow Savanna necessarily more “gender equal” just based on the one bit of lore about how most warriors (especially the high-ranking ones) are women. I guess it’s more “gender equal” if we compared it to some societies in the real world, but different societies differ in their values; there is no set monolith for comparison.

Another thing to think about is that we don’t actually have a lot of information about what it's like to be a woman in that the Afterglow Savanna. We know that women are respected, but I don't know if that's really an indicator of anything since ‘respecting’ is a vague term. It doesn’t automatically mean that women are put on pedestals or that they are treated the same as men. (Consider that we don't know about how women are perceived in other placed in Twisted Wonderland to use as a means for comparison. To say the Afterglow Savanna is "more" gender equal means there is something else that sets the baseline and is being compared to; in this case, we don't have that baseline.) On top of that, we only know a little about a single specific sector (military/the royal guard), which probably makes up only a fraction of the total women in the Afterglow Savanna; we don’t know if women are actually given equal opportunities on a larger scale or how that compares to those of men. (Like… what about women in STEM, art, etc??) It’s premature to suggest their entire society seems more gender equal based on just one area of specialty. Something else I have to wonder is this: if the women of the Afterglow Savanna are mostly expected to be "strong" warrior types, is that truly "equal" if it's basically no different than shoehorning them into any other position in life (for example, stay-at home spouses, or expecting men to also be a certain way)? There tends to be this belief that if women are in a traditionally male dominated role (ie warriors/soldiers), then that's empowerment. That's true to some extent, but that pigeonholes female empowerment into one "type" and leads to looking down on others that don't fit that mold (ie traditionally feminine women). In truth, true female empowerment is when women are free to choose to do whatever they want without repercussions or judgment, whether that means being traditionally feminine, traditionally masculine, or anything inbetween. I can kind of see why you’d come to the conclusion that you did, but 💦 I hesitate to agree with the phrasing. There isn’t a lot of evidence for the Afterglow Savanna being more egalitarian than other societies in the TWST world (or in the real world, for that matter).

fbjswbksksow Okay, back to the topic at hand! While Leona doesn’t have a large struggle that ties in with his gender, there is lore surrounding gender which may have had an impact on his (er, her?) childhood. In Leona’s post-OB flashback, we see a bunch of servants gossiping about Leona’s incredible power and being terrified of him because of it. Because females typically make up the warriors for the Afterglow Savanna and are admired for their strength, it’s possible that fem!Leona wouldn’t have received the same harsh criticisms that OG!Leona did?? As a woman, her powers would be admired as being a trait befitting a powerful and noble warrior. This, however, creates a dilemma and a contradiction for the main story—“How is fem!Leona supposed to be angsty and OB if they don’t get the same kind of childhood trauma as male Leona did?”

First of all, I’m going to avoid the “high expectations are put on Leona to take over the Lion Guard, so she gets stressed out” route because it doesn’t carry the same energy as the original. It gives way too much “hope” for the future when the OG idea is that Leona has none and keeps being beaten down no matter how hard he tries. Here are some alternate proposals for fixes (though, admittedly, none of them are perfect and they’re just ideas I came up with off the top of my head):

Make the servants dislike and fear Leona anyway regardless of gender. chajwjksksdo This is the laziest option in terms of rewrites (and ignores parts of canon lore), but I figured I’d slap it on here anyway 🤡

Make the situation progressive. Maybe everyone praised Leona at first, but then they grew to be fearful of her as she grew up (and her powers along with her). This option lacks the childhood trauma being concentrated in the past and is more of a slow burn. The issue with this one is that I don’t know if Leona’s bitterness would be as intense if the servants were so slow in the development of their apprehension.
