I follow a couple of Larry accounts on twitter and they're all going crazy about what's going on (AFHF, FEQW, Harry's bua, Liam potentially being with Louis for "support" in the babygate narrative,...) I don't see anyone talking about all this on tumblr so I fear I might be delusional thinking something big is coming but these Larris bring solid arguments (imo) so it's hard not to get hopeful and excited, what do you think ? xx
I think you're new, and that's usually how new people feel in the fandom. Twitter and tumblr are basically completely different fandoms and worlds apart. I’ve noticed that people who are new to this usually are concentrated on twitter, while most people on tumblr have been here for a long time— some of us since the very beginning of 1D. So yeah, to me, it sounds absolutely delusional hahaha. I don't even see the connection between any of these things. Nothing big is coming, stunts aren’t going to end, and they’re not going to come out. I’m sorry if this sounds harsh, but I watch this happen over and over every six months on twitter. And honestly, it's quite sad to see people getting all worked up and excited, only to be extremely disappointed a few weeks later...
It’s good to have fun, try to connect things, and create theories, enjoy the experience. There's nothing wrong with that! But just make sure it’s not causing you actual anxiety or unrealistic expectations, you know? This is a big concern because I’ve seen way too many people get really messed up for creating scenarios that never happened and developing severe anxiety over it. So just take care :)

Any recommendations for beginners? I recently binged seasons 1 and 2 and I'm looking for fic recs. I typically use ao3 but other sites are fine. I looking for something to ease myself into this fandom, so possibly canon compliant and fluffy.
Yes @prettypunkgeek , we have some suggestions for you. We got the most famous ones (however some of the most famous are Human AU, which we avoided. But if you want to know some of them, just ask us). Another thing that was avoided were 18+ fics, the ones in the list were mostly Teen and General Audiences.

Crowley was still as stone beside him. His ears were cherry-red. “So...if we pretend we’re in a relationship, we’ll be safe.”
“I believe so.”
“And that would, that would involve, what?” he spoke hesitantly, softly. “Holding your hand, telling you that you mean a lot to me, kissing you for them to see?”
Two great hands were constricting Aziraphale’s lungs. He fought back an undignified wheeze. “Yes, I think so.”
“I can do that,” he croaked.

In a panic, Aziraphale tells the archangels he survived hellfire due to his soul mixing with Crowley's because they're in a romantic and sexual relationship. They want him to prove it. Cue a fake relationship.

It also could have started like this: Once upon a time, the angel told the demon he went too fast. The demon took it to heart.
Aziraphale and Crowley find themselves somehow married. Crowley fears going too fast. Aziraphale forges ahead. Neither know how to ask questions of each other.

After everything, Aziraphale and Crowley, by unspoken agreement, begin sharing their lives.
---
Why? Aziraphale wanted to ask him, why millennia of the way things were, and now this?
But while Crowley seemed to have little issue upending every unspoken rule they’d ever written for themselves, Aziraphale was not so flexible, and they had spent thousands of years never quite addressing whatever it was this had stemmed from. Words, Aziraphale had always felt, were for bickering about where to eat for lunch, or hashing out ontological debates, or other trivial nonsense; there was no need to trifle with the imprecision of language, with phrasing and the possibility of being misconstrued, when it came to important matters if the other person simply understood, without needing it said. Six thousand years ago, when Aziraphale had met Crowley on the wall of Eden, watching the first two humans set out to begin the rest of history, something deep within him, more central even than his Grace, had thought, oh, it’s you, and that had been enough for him--for both of them, he assumed--for three millennia.
However much he wanted to ask, he didn’t know how. The words simply weren’t there.

Closed Practices
Tumblr media
Please make sure that you do additional research, this post is just the basics of closed practices! - if you arent part of the culture that practices or you arent invited to practice a practice listed, then dont practice it! - it is not for you and can be considered cultural appropriation
Tumblr media
What is a closed practice? There have been many damaging misconceptions regarding what constituted a "closed practice" in spirituality. Simply described, a closed practice in witchcraft and the occult is one in which you can only participate if you were born into it or underwent an initiation procedure. One of the most popular misconceptions about closed practices is that if you were not born into the group, you would never be allowed to practise. This can be true in a number of situations, but there are certain exceptions. It is critical to remember that these practices remain locked until the individual has been verified and the authorised start process has been completed.
There is always a cause for some religions to be closed. Some reasons may include that it is founded on specific cultural values and beliefs that would never be understood by outsiders who were not truly immersed in the community. Brujería and Santería are examples of this.
Tumblr media
Closed Communities and Race Locked Spirituality:
While it is critical to analyze specific practices within some religions, it is even more vital to address, on a larger scale, how entire communities can be closed. Differentiating between closed communities and closed practices reduces the likelihood of gatekeeping and reinforced marginalization. Some closed communities include the Amish, the Roma, Judaism (along with their type of mysticism, Kabbalah), Hoodoo, and Haitian Vodou. A reason a variety of communities may close their practices is that they are deemed as “race locked”, indicating that these communities were created as an attempt to unify together during times of hardship, with their beliefs formed around their shared experiences.
Tumblr media
Region Locked religion: While some religions are closed because they are "race locked," others are closed because they are "region locked". This indicates they are closed since they are based on variables unique to the place. Many of these numbers are based on local factors that would make little sense to someone from another place. This is why some (but not all!) minor Shintō sects are considered closed.
Tumblr media
Poached practices:
Because of the huge quantity of misinformation propagated by uneducated internet users, there has been a significant surge in Native cultural appropriation and improper usage of Indigenous spirituality. There are other holy Indigenous rituals that are considered closed, like white sage smudging and the usage of palo santo. To survive, marginalised groups were traditionally mistreated and even punished for their beliefs, therefore these communities had to keep their religion hidden from outsiders. As restricted practices such as smudging gain popularity, the quantity of holy plants intended for Indigenous groups gets depleted. The colonizer's economic gains harm not just the environment, but also the purity of Native practices. Exploring safe, effective, and courteous alternatives to smoke cleaning are an excellent method to express direct gratitude to people who sacrificed their livelihood for spiritual freedom
Tumblr media
Closed cultures:
Many Native American cultures
Many African cultures
Saami (in Finland)
Closed religions:
Shinto (Some branches of Shinto practice are open, although they should be approached with caution, while some are completely closed. Jinja Shinto would be the most visible example of an open denomination.
Druidism (proper not neo)
Gardnerian and Alexandrian Wicca
Haitian Vodou
Hawaiian
 African Vodou
Hinduism (There are open and accessible Hindu denominations, as well as closed sects. Some "open sects" are quite troublesome, thus one should proceed with caution when considering joining a Hindu sect. Dharmic law is part of what makes this difficult to traverse, so proceed with caution.
Hopi
Inuit
Judaism (You must earn the right to be called Jewish)
Raastafari Movement
Tribal (almost all)
Voodoo (Dependent on the group which you decide to learn from)
Voudon
Zoroastrianism *some of these you can be invited to practice, but please research into which ones you can and can't. I as the author do not know much about these practices, as I don't personally practice them. People who do practices will have more correct answers*

I really want to get into wargames and minis, but I realized that scale is kicking my ass, because it just doesn't "click" with me. How "small" is a 28mm miniature supposed to be? Stylization from different manufacturers aside, do I just literally take out a ruler and measure if it's 28 mm tall? That simple? I just want to kit bash and have fun. I also live in a place that could be called a "miniature wargames desert" but a few swap meets exists where I could get extremely cheap little toys. Also, I found you by looking at the Turnip28 tag and I'm really loving your stuff.
Admittedly it’s sometimes really hard to gauge that, both with miniature photography and on stores. I’ve bought miniatures from some obscure ranges and the scale is completely not what I expected at all.
However, to give a better sense of scale, here is some different mini ranges with some normal common day items that a tumblrina might have around;
Tumblr media
A Warhammer 40,000 Skitarii, Noise Marine, and Sister of Battle next to a standard English crumpet (dated 2024, for shrinkflation purposes).
Tumblr media
Forge World minis in front of a Windows 10 compatible original Xbox controller nicknamed “The Duke”
Tumblr media
A pair of Gun Wizards made from Northstar Games’ Frostgrave kits, next to some anti-depressants I forgot to take and you possibly did too.
Tumblr media
Necromunda miniatures next to another miniature, this one is a sculpt of one of Queen Elizabeth II’s corgis.
Tumblr media
Age of Sigmar-sub game miniatures next to an omniscient floating piece of LEGO, a 2x2 specifically I do believe is the technical designation.
Tumblr media
And finally some BadsquiddoGames minis next to an old science-fiction book nerds will insist is the best thing they read despite not actually reading any real books, bookmarked on page 152.
If these images do not help, then here is a video of a bunch of minis on an A4 piece of paper, with United Kingdom currency and some cheap dice scattered around;
As you see, they’re small. Most only standing 5 or 6cm in height. Bout an inch or so.

really love your art style! Do you have any tips for beginners who want to go in that direction of drawing? How did you learn?
Aaww thank you so much, anon!💖
Tumblr media
Okay, my suuuppeer generic answer would be to "draw everyday". It doesn't has to be a masterpiece everytime, but as long as you draw something it'll train your muscle memory.
I know as a beginner, you might be blocked by "idk what to draw" which eventually ruins "the mood". Welp- my mentor once told me "that mood is just a myth", so get out there, grab your drawing kit and just draw. (Unless you're burnt out, then you need to rest.)
As for what to draw, (for me at least) i always draw what i like. For example, i love drawing pretty men/boys and i love drawing portraits. So i just grab my fav pics of said pretty men pics and draw them. My goal was to draw them as identical as possible, but different hands have different results, so your "art style" will come out naturally.
Also, another imporant note, it is not a sin to use references! Drawing from memory is cool and all if you developed enough visual data, but as a beginner i HIGHLY recommend you to use references (yes, plural).
Hope that helps! If there's anymore question, feel free to ask. And good luck on your art journey, i believe in you!💖

Paste the above code into your bio, replacing the link section with the full link and the text section with your desired text. Be sure not to leave a space when copying over.
If it's breaking, or you're lost, check this post here.
*note: these links will only appear in your mobile/automatic theme. if you have a desktop theme with a custom description this method will still work.

If you want to watch Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro, should you have seen the series first?
It's from a convo on twitter but what the heck
Tumblr media
I wish someone explained it to me like this before I watched it, and then with no warning tried to start from green jacket series, then woman named Fujiko, then secret of mamo.... Each time being confused more and more deeply until I finally stumbled upon blue jacket and it helped me to get a more general feel on the franchise, and then with that base be ready to whatever the first three seasons would throw at me

If you’re looking to get into journaling
Here’s some stuff I wish I would’ve known or been told when I was first starting out
1) Pretty journals make everything better. I never feel motivated to do anything in 25-cent spiral-bound notebooks (those are usually reserved for schoolwork and stuff I write or doodle when bored in class). I have three journals right now, and none of them have spiral binding. One is a hardcover lined journal with book-style binding and gilded pages, one is similar but softcover without gilding and with dots instead of lines, and one is a lined leather hardcover with a ribbon bookmark and an elastic strap to keep it shut.
2) It doesn’t have to be expensive. I got my fancy hardcover journal from Target. The leather one was a gift from my dad, who got it free from some promotional event. The softcover journal was a splurge on a museum trip.
3) Either put everything in one journal, or figure out a theme. Putting everything in one journal works for some people. I like to have specific purposes for my journals. The fancy one is a poetry journal, the leather one is a survival/crisis notebook, and the softcover is a movie journal. I have a list on my phone of possible future journal topics: herbalism and natural remedy notes, quotes, stickers, books, music, calligraphy, scrapbooking, recipes, beauty stuff, food and drink reviews, travel, theatre reviews, etc.
4) Figure out what routine you want. This will involve trial and error, and it could be different for every journal. I work in my movie journal when I want to take an analytical look at a movie I like. I copy things down in the crisis notebook when I find something that could be useful in a survival situation. I work on my poetry journal when I find a short poem I like and a podcast I want to listen to. When I’m done, I flip back to the start and reread every poem I’ve done so far and look at my progress up until the one I just finished. Some people like to set a specific time each day, week, or month to journal, but my ADHD brain doesn’t like being told what to do.
5) Choose your materials. Some people will use anything available, and I salute them for it, but I try to keep my journals internally consistent by using the same materials every time. For my survival notebook, I use Sharpie pens (since they don’t bleed), mostly the black one, but I use other colors for emphasis and readability. Where there’s room, I like to put stickers in—the goal is for the journal to help me if I’m ever in a crisis, so I might as well put in something that will alleviate the stress of a bad situation. For my movie journal, I also use Sharpie pens, but my default is blue instead of black, and I use every color except for black. For my poetry journal, I use my trusty Fantasia Blendable Colour Set colored pencils for the background, a gold Sharpie for writing the text, and a white paint pen for decorations.
6) Pack it full. One day you’ll look back at it with satisfaction. I plan to eventually fill every page of my poetry and movie journals. My crisis notebook is stuffed full of phone numbers, first aid info, directions to navigate dangerous situations, codes, tips for surviving homelessness, wilderness survival info, etc. Anything I might find useful in an emergency. There’s medical info written on a sticky note in the inside cover in case a paramedic needs it. (If you do this, include your name, birthdate, conditions, medications, allergies, height, and weight. This will help a paramedic ID and medicate you if necessary.) Update the info every so often and write the date on the sticky note, especially if you write down your weight, since it fluctuates so often.
7) Be careful with your information! If there’s a spot in the front cover or on the first few pages for contact information in case the journal is lost or stolen, only fill out what’s necessary. Maybe just a phone number, so a Good Samaritan can arrange a return, but a random creep looking through your stuff won’t find out your address. My crisis notebook has a mini directory in the front, but there are no names, just titles: mother, father, grandfather (with a note to call him if the incident involves anything LGBTQ+. Stay safe!). The rest of the directory is all numbers for crisis lines, mental health facilities, homeless resources, and how to code a police call or hold a 911 call in silence.
8) Have fun with it! There’s no point in keeping a hobby you hate. Add stickers, or don’t! Use washi tape, or don’t! Use it to practice fancy lettering, or just write in scrawl! Write in code, or don’t! Fill it with useful stuff, or stuff that just makes you happy! Use it to refine your art skills, or don’t! Draw in it, or don’t! The world of journaling is yours!
