I've graduated to tablet weaving, which is inkle weaving but with a bunch of cards that you twist around to make patterns. It's a little fussy, but the results are completely worth it.

Working on the band that I'll use to make a collar for my parents' dog, Archie, and I feel like my weaving has leveled up. I've done this pattern before, but this one definitely is turning out much smoother and with the actual pattern more visible.

I don't know if my reply went through since I'm not seeing it on my end, but I wanted to ask, for the tablet weaving band you did, did you have a pattern you used for it?
Oh I totally missed your reply, sorry!
And yes I used the Avema design from this little group of patterns, they're all so pretty

this page (https://www.stringpage.com/tw/twtheory.html) has been helpful wrapping my head around the mechanics of tablet weaving
in general, i want a good feel of why you would turn forward vs back or why a given tablet should be S or Z threaded
so far on my practice weave (4 cards, going blue-blue-black-black) i can do:
lines
checkerboards
chevrons
large patches of one color
(and knowing to balance the s & z directions so it doesnt twist on itself)

Made an Imperial Aquila cross stich, because why not? Actually made the pattern quite a while ago, but didn't test it until now. Now I did while procrastinating other projects.
Pattern is here
I also have a smaller version here

Guess who got an inkle loom! This is as far as I've gotten weaving on it, but it's so much fun. So fast! So satisfying! I picked a really simple pattern for my first one, but I can already tell there will be more.
Since the place I get my supplies (and this loom) from also had a sale on discontinued cotton..thread? yarn? Whatever it's called, it was half price and I now have 20,000 metres of it (about 12.5 miles), so oh yes, there will be more.

My partner (@it-is-no-use) got me some new tablets to try, which just arrived today, so I warped up my loom with a short band to try them out, and to try out the swivels. They both worked great!

Tablet wove me some deer backpack strap decorations! I hand sewed them on which was a pain- not sure what to do about the tassels on the top. I made them too long accidentally but it kind of works bc I sewed a loop onto each strap to keep it with the dangly part of my backpack straps.
My next project probably won’t be finished for ages 😑

i GOT to get a backstrap loom going one of these days too. i want to weave. i crave it. i loved making that strip of woven fabric that i now use as hand towels but i want more possibilities. the strip of fabric can only be so wide with the loom i have. but i CAN steal the shuttles from it for backstrap weaving. i could even steal the heddle if i want to do something that thin or thinner. but the point is kind of to. not do that.
