Book’s often portray love as butterflies in your stomach, flattering body that gets weak when you see someone, and a high feeling. Eloise hated the books about love because she didn’t care for it, thinking it was all a lie.

And now she wished she read more.

How was she supposed to get over her feelings of being near you, or seeing your smile or hearing your laugh. The pain she felt from holding herself back from the urge to kissing you was horrible. All she could ever think about was you and she was becoming crazy.

“Dear, are you alright?” Violet asked her daughter who was lost in her thoughts, standing still at the window as rain poured down on the ground. Eloise snapped out of it and grabbed the book that was now in her lap back up and gave a reassuring smile.

“No need to worry, it’s just a beautiful day.” A mother knows much about her children and violet knew her daughter well. Eloise was often to push away when she was going through things. But she could push her to talk about it, so she just smiled and nodded her head.

Just as the sun rises and breakfast was done, the routine of visiting you for morning walks was the thing that woke her up. Her head went fussy when you grabbed ahold of her arm and her heart spiked like crazy.

“There isn’t much my mama has been telling me lately. Each gentleman walking up to door is all the same and non have half the wits they think themselves to have.” rolling your eyes annoyingly, Eloise laughs at your remark.

“Thank the heavens I have no callers, the one thing whistledown gave me was keeping them away.” you glance at her, there was still spite in her voice.

“It’s their lose anyway, you’re a Bridgerton. Pretty and smart sounds like a amazing catch.” you giggle. her cheeks flush red and look away at the compliment you gave her.

Pretty? You think she’s pretty and smart.

“Might I ask you something?” Her mouth speaks on its own before she could stop herself. you humming in agreement and focus on the ground as you walk. ears ready to hear.

could you ever love her? the lump in her throat tighten as her stomach dropped. all she wanted to do was confess or give you a hint. why was it so hard? she shouldn’t be afraid of it. but looking at you and the way the sun cased it’s golden light on you, the beautiful smile on your lips. she couldn’t find the courage.

“Purple?” the excuse didn’t work out as she wanted. you turn your head in confusion to what she meant.

she was a fool. “Purple or Blue? A dress for me tonight.”

“Purple, I like that color on you.”

then she shall wear it for the rest of her days.

a/n: definitely taking inspiration from "an offer from my gentleman" and made the reader not from the ton. this feels rather rushed, but I was trying to keep it a 'blurb' and get it posted since it has been so delayed. anyway, please enjoy and have a fabulous day!

Benedict had been in a mood all morning, sulking and sighing to himself as the rest of his family broke their fast together. Though he tried his best to hide it, there was little that could get past his mother and all seven of his siblings' watchful eyes.

"What has got you all in a twist this morning?" Eloise probed with furrowed eyebrows.

He simply offered her a stern glare before going back to pushing his breakfast around his plate like a small child. He was not about to share with his entire family that he had gotten into an argument with you - his secret romance - and how he was positive you wanted nothing to do with him anymore.

"Nothing that concerns you. If you'll excuse me." he muttered, pushing his chair back rather harshly before exiting the dining room.

Before he could leave entirely, his mother's voice stopped Benedict in his tracks. "Benedict, do not deny yourself the chance to be happy. Follow your heart and it will never lead you astray." she offered with a warm and knowing smile. How was it that nothing escaped her notice?

It took a moment, but Violet's words washing over him and soon enough Benedict burst out of Bridgerton House, and ran down the streets, pushing himself to run further and faster. He knew he must look a spectacle to the rest of the ton, and Lady Whistledown would most certainly comment on it in her next column. Despite all that, all that Benedict could focus on was you and being with you for the rest of his life.

He knocked rapidly at your door, heart threatening to burst out of his chest with each second that passed without you opening the door. When you finally appeared before him, Benedict sighed with relief.

"Benedict!" you gasped. "What are you doing here? What if somebody saw you? And why are you breathing so heavily?" you questioned, pulling him inside and shutting the door behind you.

"I've been an idiot, y/n." Benedict admitted the moment he caught his breath. "I'm sorry for my words and my actions. I have hurt you when I vowed to myself I would never."

Shifting on your feet, you crossed your arms. "Well thank you for the apologize, Mr. Bridgerton. But you ran all the way across town just to tell me what I already knew?" you probed, not willing to give in so easily.

To his credit, Benedict looked rather ashamed before he continued on. "No, I came here because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.” he confessed.

Your breath hitched at his words, but you reigned yourself in before you could get too caught up in the romance of it all. "Last night you made it quite clear that the only association between us would be behind closed doors and under the cover of the night. What changed?"

"I let my fears of what the ton would say about me, about us, I admit that. But I don't care, y/n. Someone helped to remind that I need to allow myself to be happy and follow my heart." he explained before dropping to one knee and taking your hand.

"I know this is not the grandest of proposals, but what do you say, darling? Will you give me another chance and stay by my side through whatever comes our way, the rest of our lives?" he asks, smiling nervously up at you.

There would be so many reasons to say no. To push him away and argue that it would never work between the two of you. But, like Benedict put it, you knew you needed to allow yourself to be happy. So, there was nothing you could say but, "Yes!"

Did anyone else catch the Easter Egg / nod to Benedict's story in 3.02?

When Penelope is talking to Lord Remington, he is discussing how Lady Whistledown wrote in her most recent column about how Lady Carter's housekeeper was stolen by Lady Houghton.

In the books (up until Lady Whistledown retires in Romancing Mister Bridgerton), the chapters all start with blurbs from Lady Whistledown's most recent column that relate to the story.

In An Offer From a Gentleman, Lady Whistledown is often writing about how Lady Penwood (Sophie's stepmother) keeps stealing servants and treating them like garbage, which all started when she stole Lady Featherington's servant. In fact, Sophie only was able to work in the Bridgerton Household because Eloise and Francescas maid left to work at Penwood.

So not sure if this is a clue, a setup, or just a nod to the original "3rd story", but I found it interesting.

an entp gryffindor screams the type of woman he would be into. he’s always known he’d have to marry, if not for love then for his family. he’d understand his duty, just like you understand yours. i think he’d really appreciate how much you value family, and how you wouldn’t pressure him to marry you. loving him and wanting a future with him is enough, you don’t have to marry to know you love each other. of course, he probably would push for it anyways just because he’d realize how much he loves you and likes having you around. his family would like you too just because of how you make him act around you.

he’d love a woman with a lot of bite. he’d never feel like he has to guard or protect you, at least verbally. you’re more than capable of doing that yourself. he needs someone to stimulate him, someone capable of banter. he’d love talking to you and showing you off at gatherings. he does really enjoy some social gatherings, but there’s times where he wants to go home and be alone too. he’d understand you feeling the same, and be happy to tell people that he’s going home to spend some alone time with you. whatever you chose to do together, he’d be happy. whether that be reading to yourself, our out loud to him. sitting in the gardens, going horseback riding. it wouldn’t matter, as long as he was with you.

i think anthony would really understand mental illness. after his fathers death, and the treatment from his mother, as well as the new pressures of becoming the lord of the family, he’d have so many new burdens. there’d be moments where he felt like he was drowning, unable to pull himself up to the surface. but you’d always be there to pull him back up, and he’s of course do the same for you.

maybe one day, either you or him weren’t having a great day. but there was a ball that evening, and you both begrudgingly got dressed. that night, you’d head downstairs in your finest to see there was no carriage awaiting you.

“anthony?” you’d call, and he’d waltz in from the back door. “where’s the carriage?”

he’d grin, holding out his hand for you. “we’re not going.”

“what? your mother will be furious, you know we’re expected to be there. for eloise at the very least, we can’t leave her there alone.”

“mother is more than capable of chaperoning,” he’d say, pulling you into the backyard. “and if not, benedict is there as well. i think they can survive one night without us, don’t you think?”

you’d sigh, letting him pull you. “and what are we to do tonight, then?”

“other things…” he’d grin, kicking of his shoes. you’d fall his lead, kicking off your heels.

hand in hand, you’d run through the gardens, laughing as you traipsed through the flowers. he’d huff as he chased you, laughing until he couldn’t breathe. he’d sit down on the swing, looking up at you with a toothy grin.

“push me, darling.”

you’d laugh, rolling your eyes. “as you wish, my lord. as you wish.”

A/n: A soaking wet Anthony will forever be seared in my brain 😂.

You did not witness it happen, you were to busy chatting with your friend. You when you finally turned your attention to the lake you were wishing that you did. You always knew that Anthony had a good body that was hidden under those stuffy suits of his but you did not think he looked that good.

You found yourself unable to remove your gaze away from his body. Sinking your teeth into your lip you did your best to listen to Eloise but it was becoming harder to do so as you watched Anthony tug off the cravat. You did your best to push away the warmth, you tried you calm your racing heart but seeing him like that was making you feel things, things a young woman should not be feeling.

While the amount of poc rep in Bridgerton was excellent, the lgbtq rep definitely left something to be desired. I really hope next season there's more queer rep. Obviously that won't follow the books (have not read them, but based on what I've seen), however, it's my understanding they've already taken creative liberties, so, yeah, basically, please more lgbtq rep, give Eloise a female love interest, confirm Benedict's heavily implied bi-ness, thank you
