Blake Gives You a Valentine's Day Gift
[Yandere Bully]
[Here's a short oneshot with Blake which takes place before he claims you! And Happy Valentine's Day!]
Tumblr media
[Yandere! Bad Boy x GN! Nerdy Reader]
·゜·:.。..。.:·☆·゜·:.。..。.:·☆
Valentine’s Day: the day for couples to express their love to one another.
Sometimes you felt a little annoyed about the over-commercialization of a holiday that was meant to celebrate love… but a little part of you also knew deep down that you said that because you were single on Valentine’s Day.
Sighing, you tried your best to ignore the scores of lovey dovey couples walking down the hallways of the crowded school.
All you wanted to do was get home as soon as possible so that you could spend the night just lounging around in bed— binge watching tons of crappy reality TV shows while eating a whole box of parmesan Cheez-Its.
It sounded perfect!
Your locker door slammed shut, jolting you out of your envious stupor and making you jump back.
Standing there, his large hand placed onto the front of your locker door, was Blake: the ultimate school bully, and someone who you tried your hardest to avoid at all costs.
“Here,” Blake grunted as he forcefully shoved something at you.
“Wha—?” you wondered aloud as you examined the stuffed animal that had been thrusted into your hold. It was a classic teddy bear with a cute little red bow around its neck. You looked up at the bully with confused eyes.
A pinkish hue formed on Blake’s face and he averted his gaze from yours for a brief moment.
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” he muttered.
Before you could say anything, Blake turned around and disappeared down the hallway, swallowed up in the crowd of other students.
You examined the teddy bear in your grasp, wondering why on earth Blake would give it to you of all people. You barely even spoke to the guy! Why would he want to give you a gift on Valentine’s Day?
You kept puzzling over it for the rest of the day, and even when you got home.
You placed the teddy bear on your desk in your bedroom, which was positioned across from your bed. You kept eying the teddy bear, still confused to no end.
Blake was the scary school bully who never spoke to people, unless it was to tell them to fuck off. So why would he want to give you a Valentine’s Day present?
It made no sense to you at all.
But still, you couldn’t help but smile the tiniest bit that you had your very first Valentine’s Day gift from a guy… even if that guy was Blake.
Chuckling a little to yourself, you quietly muttered, “Happy Valentine’s Day, Blake” to the teddy bear before returning your attention back to the TV…
·゜·:.。..。.:·☆·゜·:.。..。.:·☆
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Blake,” you said, your audio being caught perfectly by the hidden camera in the teddy bear.
Blake eagerly watched the video feed on his phone, staring hungrily at the image of you sprawled out on your bed. Even though you were clad in a hoodie and sweatpants, Blake was still rock hard as he imagined himself wrapped around your form, securing his arms and legs around you so that you couldn’t leave his side.
His heart raced faster when you said his name, and he grew desperate for you to say it again.
Buying that teddy bear with the hidden camera was the best idea he’s ever had, he truly felt. Now instead of having to wait all night and through the tortuous weekends to see you, Blake could get a glimpse of his darling any time he wanted.
Blake’s been madly in love with you ever since he first laid eyes on you.
He knew from that moment that you were made for him — meant to be his, and his alone.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, my love,” Blake whispered, his fingers caressing your image on the screen. “I love you so, so much. And I promise we’ll be together really soon.”

yumi x gn!reader (sfw) headcanons list: first meet + dating yumi headcanons! requested?: yes, by @marswhyyy
Tumblr media
The two of you met when the boys were out on the town in Austin. You were shopping!
His pick up lines were awful. And I mean awful.
He introduced himself to you as Yumi, but he quickly backtracked and re-introduced himself as Blake.
That's how you learned about what he does, and you fell in love with his videos.
You asked him for his number and he was very happy to accept. You put his contact as Yumi.
You were the one to ask Blake out, and you did it while you visited their big ass house. You made sure not to do it in front of his friends, but he was so happy when you did.
He was immediately a super caring boyfriend as soon as the two of you became exclusive. So many gifts.
It only took a month for him to ask you to move in with him.
Before you moved in, he would bring you treats and flowers and assorted things every single day, and also your favorite drink!
When he'd come over to your place (before you moved in), he'd always put on a show or movie he knew you liked without you even asking.
When you moved in with Blake, he told you if you weren't ready to room with him, he'd sleep on the couch until you were ready and your heart just melted oh my god
When they traveled, Blake would call you every morning and night and sometimes throughout the day, and the group got very annoyed by it. But you didn't mind.
The first time you kissed, it was right after you had asked him out. He got super excited and you leaned in and kissed him, and he just about fainted.
Every step in your relationship, Blake would always ask you ten times before doing anything new. He was so scared to mess up!
You constantly reassured him it was okay, and the two of you grew together.
He said "I love you" three months in. He was way too awkward and rushed when he said it, but you laughed and said it back.
It took about six months into your relationship before you went from "the person in the back of the vlogs" to "the person Yumi's dating" publicly.
The two of you decided that you'd go onto Blake's stream and talk about it. Everything went over pretty well.
Your friends were all supportive of you. Blake posted a photo of the two of you together and every single group member replied to it. It was cute.
Even once you'd moved in with him, Blake would still get you your favorite drink every morning right before you'd wake up so he could surprise you with a big smile on his face.
You forced him to stop cutting his hair like a little boy and to invest more money into his haircuts and keep his hair longer. His audience loved you for it.
Every time he'd stream, and I mean every time, he'd talk about you so much. Constantly babbling on about the things you did that week or what he wanted to do for you (like you weren't watching, but you were).
You'd talk to his chat constantly, whether on stream or just chilling on your computer and typing. They loved you a bunch.

Finally made a reference sheet for the Dim Sun members in my Pokemon Ranger Shadows of Almia Resocialization AU!
The story resumes 4 years after Operation Brighton was successfully completed. Hastings and Erma learn that the higher ranked Ex Team Dim Sun members are supposed to be released into early probabtion time. When they visit the former criminals they realize that while they have recovered from the effects of the Dark Crystal and don't seem to pose a big threat to Almia anymore they aren't quite decent people and useful members of society yet.
So with all of her chivalry Erma decides to get the Union involved in their probabtion time. Together with Hastings she comes up with a program that seeks to reform and resocialize the former villains.
Here's a short preview of the resocialization program document:
Every Ex-Dim-Sun-Member will be assigned a partner and mentor figure from the Union who holds authority over them but also takes responsibility for their actions during probation.
2. Every Ex-Dim-Sun-Member will receive a weekly schedule filled with tasks similar to community service.
3. Every Ex-Dim-Sun-Member has to support their mentor and must contribute to their job in a positive way
4. Criminal activities and prohibited behaviors of the attendants of this program will be penalized with the program and probation time being revoked.
...
The mentorship relations
Wyatt (Blake) Hall - Rhythmi
Kincaid - Kate
Wheeler - Wendy
Ice - Murph
Lavana - Keith
Heath - Sven
Wyatt: A bit self-conscious and still haunted by his past crimes and immense feelings of guilt. But overall he is a pretty facile person and Rhythmi does not have any trouble with him. He is a flagship attendant of the program. Wyatt completes his tasks with honesty and nothing but good intentions for the people of Almia and his mentor. Sometimes he is a bit depressed but learning to be valuable to society and a good person improves his mental state more and more. Wyatt is not sure what he wants to do with his life yet but he feels inspired to help people and Pokemon as much as he can to try and make up for his past mistakes.
Kincaid: While he understands that he had to face prison for the list of crimes he commited he is not happy with the program being forced onto him. He was an independent man before Team Dim Sun and he can find a way to live an honest life by himself. Kincaid still believes that he doesn't need to have faith in other people to achieve his goals, no matter their moral alignment. Kate acting as some sort of mentor is ridiculous to him, what could he learn from a young adult anyway? Kate and Kincaid's partnership is held back by their opposite world views and distrust. They get into arguments a lot to the point it's hindering the program. Hastings decides to cuff them together so they have to learn to work as a team. Kincaid's additionally helping Hastings with strategizing for missions and Kate has to attend every meeting of them being nerds, obviously.
Wheeler: Wendy and Wheeler get along as soon as they realize how much they can learn from each other. She expects him to have his own opinion and view of things and helps him to grow as a person. His biggest weakness was the dependency on his former boss and his approval. Once Wendy learns about his talent for cooking they spend a lot of time doing that together. (Much to the other Union members' delight.) Wheeler tries to be a friendly fella but has his snarky moments anyway. He especially loves annoying Ice and Kincaid as they both seem to be not improving much as people.
Ice: The usually cool ex boss of the Sinis Trio seems to have fallen into some sort of rebellious phase. Murph is trying his best to have Ice do the tasks he is assigned and still be a diligent Union member. But all of his attempts only motivate Ice to be more problematic. If Murph didn't know any better he would say Ice wants to go back to prison because that's easier than trying to improve. It's the path of least resistance and doesn't require Ice to work hard. With some time and lots of stupid pranks he begins to feel guilty for causing Murph so much trouble. Ultimately he is impressed by Murph not giving up on him despite his behavior and really tries to change for the better.
Lavana: Out of all the ex members Lavana for sure is the most ambitious attendant. Shortly after the program starts she announces that she wants to pick up her dream of becoming a Pokemon Ranger again. Despite some protests from Hastings she receives the position as a trainee Ranger at the Union from Erma. She is still a little princess at the start but Keith and her new job help her realize that some things in life are only attainable through hard work and passion. The people and Pokemon of Almia showing gratitude is something new but Lavana feels very accomplished every time she helped someone. However, she gets gradually annoyed with Keith being absent so often, mentally and physically. Somehow he is obsessed with making sure Kate is alright.
Heath: Sven has no trouble with Heath, he may be a slow learner but he is also very patient and obedient. Heath seems to be glad that the Union is taking care of him and sees the program as his 2nd chance in life. It appears that he is more worried about how some of his former colleagues don't take this seriously. Sven does not feel any deeper attachment towards Heath, unlike some of his Ranger colleagues. For him this is just a job that needs to be done. Heath looks up to Sven and admires his confidence and sense of morality. He becomes increasingly helpful on missions and proves to be a gentle giant when it comes to caring about his friends and former colleagues. To him Dim Sun was his family.
Thanks for reading my little introduction post.

I wonder if people realize that it took ND in the early days almost 10 years to get this big. Gwen is a wonderful singer and performer. But even with her in the band, it took a lot of years for their breakthrough!!! And then people think that the guys in DC would get as high with a good singer and them being in their 40’s. No matter if Gwen performs solo and a lot less during the year, she already had her name, she was the frontwoman and totally in the picture. The guys are equally as wonderful, but they form the band, not the vocals and that will always be more difficult to start up something new. Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac went solo and if she did, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and Lindsey Buckingham would do other projects, but never together. Lindsey even did go solo and he is an awesome guitar player, but even he wasn’t able to get as much succes. Lou Gramm (he was the singer) of Foreigner went solo and he had succes. Mick Jones needed another singer and it took years to find Kelly Hansen (after Lou Gramm left for a second and definitive time). But Mick was the owner of the band and was able to keep the name Foreigner. They made one new album, the rest were best of’s and the touring was all about the old songs that Mick wrote together with Lou Gramm. That is why they kept having success. Most bands who fall apart is mostly because of some drama that goes on, but when the singer leaves, it really leaves the rest of the band in loose ends. It would be the same when John Bon Jovi would leave Bon Bovi. Would you really see the rest of this band getting on a new project with a new singer and having success? It was already difficult that Richie Sambora (lead guitar)left, but if John would leave, that would be the end for all the rest of them.
Love all this music trivia. As someone who had the Buckingham Nicks poster on my wall for years even though they weren’t my generation of music, I have to give Lindsey props for Trouble. And of course the equally brilliant and annoying Holiday Road. But points taken.
And Davey Havok is an incredible singer. Really good! It’s just that so few people have the lyrical genius, the iconic looks, the charisma, and the stage skills of Gwen. Mick Jagger does. Sting. Stevie is close but can’t work a stage like Gwen. I saw her a couple months ago and she is still amazing tho! Linda Perry. Rod Stewart. Don Henley. All check so many boxes but Gwen is so elite among them for what she can do. She just chose family over more fame.
Sometimes I think Gwen had more fun when ND was bubbling under and had small time fame. But she was always destined to be a star and this road led her to Blake.

BIG agree. ruby made herself vulnerable to her team and it backfired in the worst way, confirming every fear she'd had about opening up in the first place. the only way they can move from that point productively is for ruby to choose to seek them out again
altho i think wbyj also needs to have a Big Talk and sort some things out among themselves before reuniting
anyway, bets on yang being the most Mad at ruby? i feel like the comment abt her and blake would hit her pretty hard bc it's clearly something yang has wanted for a long time, plus i think in some ways yang still views herself as Ruby's Protector/Big Sister/etc and confronting the way Ruby's feeling would require her to confront the way she's contributed to it which. Is hard.
not yang hate btw i love her i just think it will be more interesting if wbyj is not 100% on the "oh God we fucked up how could we be so mean" train
yeah like. i wouldn't be surprised if this volume ends with all of them together getting back to remnant, but i also wouldn't be surprised if even after that ruby keeps her distance a bit more? as in, ruby is going to seek them out not necessarily bc she's 100% ready but bc it's necessary, cos like. i don't think this should be a thing that gets 'fixed' fully in three episodes. it's going to leave a Mark and that's fine, since things can't go back to way they were before; that's what got them to this point in the first place.
anyway, i am very excited to see everyone's reactions after the initial shock fades away, especially yang's. i think people are way too focused on the whole "she's a good / bad sister!!" when the point is that.. they're just.. sisters. i mean i'm the second youngest out of four, i have two older sisters and i love them very much but they have also pissed me off more times than i can count. that's just what having siblings is like; sometimes you're a good sibling and sometimes you're a bad sibling and sometimes that's intentional and sometimes it's not. that's just life. you can't be a little miss perfect all the time and always know what it is your sibling needs to hear or how to help them. sometimes you try and you fuck it up spectacularly, and if that happens, well. you think about it, figure out what went wrong, and try again if your sibling is ready to accept your help again. if they don't want it, then you respect that, too.
...where was i. oh, right, what comes to my mind is 'risk' and yang's attempted pep talk for ruby after she snaps and runs away for the first time; yang tries to cheer up ruby about her amity plan—'i was being childish' / 'you were being optimistic. look, blind optimism isn't great (lmao if this ain't what ruby has been kind of doing), but no optimism means we already lost. we need hope. we need to take risks. / 'but mine didn't work.' <- ruby pulls away from yang, who then has this look on her face before she sighs and gets up to get some distance before the talk takes a turn back to summer:
Tumblr media
it's taking yang everything not to be frustrated at ruby's behavior and snapping back, and it still leaks through. like i don't think yang really knows how to handle ruby when she's being like this, bc ruby has always been optimistic and smiles all around; this kind of anger and frustration, the complete lack of any optimism, is new from ruby.
yang is definitely going to be concerned—they're in a strange world with unknown dangers, and on top of that neo is hunting down ruby specifically!!—but i can also see her being a little upset / annoyed / frustrated at ruby for... well, many reasons, but one of them being 'clearly she's not okay so why didn't she say anything?'
either way. interesting times ahead.

20 Questions For Fic Writers
I was tagged by @marley-manson and @ofmdmash - so I will tag:
@topshelf2112-blog @remyfire @allcanonisrelative @jaelijn @amrv-5 @mycenaae @muirmarie @thebreakfastgenie @uncomfyfriendly @rescue-ram @blistersonmefingehs @fieryphrazes
(but don't feel obliged unless you want to play, and if you'd like to play, consider yourself tagged!)
How many works do you have on Ao3?
253.
2. What's your total Ao3 word count?
1,393,465.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Primarily (and in more or less chronological order): Blake's 7, Star Trek: TOS, The Professionals, Highlander, Star Trek: tng. MASH, House, and The Fugitive (the film with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones). I have also written fanfic for MacGyver (the 1985 TV series), the West Wing, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Quantum Leap, , and various literary fandoms as an exercise in pastiche.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
The top three are MASHfics: Tuttle, All We Know, Go, tell them in Sparta - and four and five are both Star Trek fics (both Spock/McCoy): A Man of Integrity, and Through A Glass, Darkly.
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oh, that's a difficult question. Possibly it's ""I would not be you for a kingdom" " - my Villette slash story: though in that case I was just using the angst Charlotte Bronte handed me in the novel. Likewise with the Blake's 7 story Cruelty Has A Human Heart, and the Good Omens story Let this cup pass from me, and the Highlander story Day and Night But, even what with stories where the angst is built into the source material, I think the angstiest ending is that of the long series The Games. (I considered MASH in Drabbles and concluded that as I wrote the 80 or so drabbles in the sequence individually and out of order, it doesn't really count.)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
That is an extremely difficult question to answer. I like writing in universes full of angst. Many of my stories have hopeful endings, which make me happy, but I think the unequivocably happy ending is the MASH story Responsible Indefinitely For Each Other’s Welfare. Because there they are, together, at the end of a long life: and Hawkeye is still the same delightfully annoying trickster as ever.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Sometimes. Usually for ridiculous reasons. "I hate that pairing!" Well, don't read it then. "So-and-so isn't gay, he's too masculine!" - Oh, honey, let me introduce you to some big strong bears, you'll love them.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I would say mostly no, but occasionally yes. I believe sex scenes should be essential to the plot and full of character development, so I rarely write just pure smut. But I did write a Stargate Atlantis story, What I Tell You Three Times Is True, which was purely written as a sex scene, after a giggled conversation with a friend who was into Stargate Atlantis.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I love crossovers, both the reading and the writing of them, and have written dozens. I would say the weirdest one I ever wrote was a West Wing / Star Trek:tng / Drop The Dead Donkey crossover, No More Overtime.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I know.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not as far as I know.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, sometimes. It's a fun thing to do with friends. I co-wrote the More Deadly MacGyver/Highlander crossover with Jakrar, sparked out of a paragraph she sent me in an email.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
"All time" - I don't think I have one. I've loved and still love Avon/Vila, Spock/McCoy, Bodie/Cowley, House/Wilson, Holmes/Watson - but right now my favourite ship is definitely Hawkeye/Mulcahy.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
The Buffy/MASH crossover. I just don't see where I'd find the time.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue, perseverance, imagination, angst.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Heterosexuality. Certain words which I always misspell unless I look them up, each time. Not understanding what is going on in people's minds, see 'heterosexuality' - also racism, sexism, and classism.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Mais c'est impossible. I prefer to write in English but signal that this is a different language being spoken. Bene, plerumque. I had to think about this a lot when writing ASL dialogue for All We Know.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Blake's 7.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Usually the one I am writing at the moment, which is to say All We Know - and the one I want to finish: A Hawk Through the Mirror. But I think technically one of my best is Friend and Stranger - a story set three years after the events of the 1993 movie The Fugitive, written in form as much like the movie as I could make it, full of sudden POV changes between Gerard and Kimble and attempting to get the emotional intensity and chemistry between the two of them that we saw on screen, down to a satisfying conclusion.

You are awesome. I love your response to the one anon who talked about Ryan vs. Chris.
I’ve always felt there was a subset of tumblr “fans” or fans of gossip that live to snark and say rude things about Chris. Way before soba noodles came along. There are some popular blogs on here I detest and loathe because they’ve said some truly cruel things due their anger and disappointment in him but since others loved these blogs they would agree with them. I can’t understand the concept of following a fanbase on tumblr for a celeb just to sit there and post negatively about them to other people.
Ryan is a bankable star but are his movies really that quality? Is his acting really quality? I don’t know if I agree because six underground remains one of the worst movies I’ve seen in a while. He also reminds me of Deadpool in literally every movie I’ve seen him. However, I still find him funny and likeable usually so I’ll tune in occasionally to his stuff. He and Blake are cute but also sometimes annoying but it doesn’t bother me.
I agree that CE is going through a bit of a career rough patch but honestly? I think you can kind of say the same about other actors too.
For example, I think Chris pine had a bit of a rough go with his directing debut (panned by critics and audiences alike - roasted by everyone). Dungeons and dragons was well received but didn’t do too much at the box office. Same with WISH. Same with don’t worry darling.
All happened this past year and this year. But are Chris pine fans roasting him 24/7? I mean, I don’t really know but I don’t think to the extent of which Chris E’s fans are doing to him. They probably hope he will get more opportunities to shine and want the best for him. Because they are his FANS.
It’s not really about comparing likeminded actors but I think CE fans and former haters have really crossed serious lines and it sincerely bothers me. The comments they’re left on that ASP post - throwing around the term nazism like it’s NBD. It’s revolting to me and I don’t see how they are pleased with themselves.
Sure I may have an unpopular opinion but I don’t think I’m wrong. I like that you remain positive but also realistic. You’re not a blind Stan and it’s really nice to see some spaces where you are maintaining your peace and giving others that as well.
Chris isn’t perfect, and I have said where I felt he lacks in his acting. But I’d much rather focus on positive things in his career. I see no point in constantly just focusing on the negative. What a miserable way to think.
Ryan can be bankable with the right script and role. But it can be very one note. This is someone who became aware of Ryan in Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place. I enjoy him but he’s not switching up his characters that much either.
I like one Chris Pine character and that’s Rise of the Guardians because I don’t have to see his face. I’m not a fan and that’s why I choose not to mention him. So we’re moving on.
I’m sure there’s a lot going on that most of us will never really know. There’s a lot of trolling, a lot of lying, a lot of distraction, and I just don’t care. I’m going to stay in my attic with fanfics and hopefully a new role real soon.

The School Bully Loves You, Pt. 4:
Yandere Bully Interrupts Your "Date"
Part 0 │ Part 1 │ Part 2 │ Part 3
Tumblr media
[Yandere! Bully x GN Nerd! Reader]
·゜·:.。..。.:·☆·゜·:.。..。.:·☆
Jonathan was a nice guy, you figured.
The quarterback of the football team was always all smiles, and he seemed to never treat you differently despite being way higher up on the social ladder. Therefore, you sort of liked to tutor him. Not only did it feel like you were sometimes hanging out with a close friend, but it also made you feel good deep down that a guy was paying you some attention... even if it was just for school. But still.
And plus, you figured that he could potentially protect you from Blake.
Seriously, it was crystal clear that Jonathan lived in the gym after school, given his large muscles and athletic prowess.
Blake is muscular too, but he tends to hide his bulk underneath his leather jacket.
But still!
You tried your best to force your mind away from Blake as you and Jonathan pulled into the parking lot of a local diner. It was a small place where the two of you could be uninterrupted during your study session. It was one of the few local spots where Jonathan would treat you as payment for tutoring him, and you'd always order something sweet and tasty!
The two of you took your seats at one of the booths near the back, and your eyes stayed glued to the door. The constant fear of Blake finding you kept you on edge, and you found it hard to stay present with your brain always straying back to the bully.
You mentally berated yourself, annoyed that you kept thinking about Blake.
He'd claimed you as his, and you'd gotten three strikes.
Both of those spelt trouble in your mind, and you wanted nothing more than to avoid the guy. Therefore, you figured that being away from school with someone big who could protect you was the best course of action.
Jonathan and you placed your orders and tried to start the tutoring session, but it was close to impossible for you to get your nerves settled.
"Is something on your mind?" the jock finally asked when he'd noticed you staring nervously at the door for the millionth time.
"O-oh!" you mumbled, jerking out of your panicked daze. "I'm sorry, I'm just a little... distracted." You sheepishly smiled at the end of your statement, hoping that the jock wouldn't catch onto you inadvertently using him as protection.
Jonathan pursed his lips into a thin line, deep in thought. "So," he slowly asked, shrugging his broad shoulders, "is it Blake?"
You jerked back in your seat, shocked. "Wh-what do you mean?" you stuttered, trying your best to force an innocent smile onto your face.
Jonathan scrunched up his face in confusion. "Oh, my bad," he muttered. "I just thought that you two were having couple problems."
"'Couple problems'?" you repeated.
Jonathan shrugged again. "Well, yeah," he grunted. "I mean, by the way Blake talks about you, I thought the two of you were dating..."
"The way he talks about me?" you repeated again, feeling yourself go pale at the words you heard.
Never in your life would you have ever expected Blake to talk about you in any sort of positive manner. You always tried to avoid him like the plague, hence you'd preferred if he didn't know that you existed. But if he were to talk about you, you half-expected him to curse your name and call you the scum of the earth given how badly he's beaten people up all around you.
Thinking about it, there were several of Blake's victims you knew personally:
Kyle, the bully who's stolen your lunch money back in the sixth grade. He'd gotten his face beaten to a pulp, causing his nose to be a little crooked now.
Tristan, the guy who'd called you ugly on picture day. Blake had based his face so hard that his front teeth had been knocked out, totally ruining his picture.
Cesar, the douche who'd smashed your science project to smithereens for a YouTube prank. Well, Blake had filmed himself stomping him in the nuts, posting it to Cesar's now defunct account.
Wait...
"Wh-what has Blake said... about me?" you asked, feeling your heart fall to the floor as you thought everything over. It all had to be a coincidence, right?
The waitress delivered your food, distracting the jock for a second as he began to eat his fries. "Oh, um, he says lots of things about you," he mumbled, his mouth full of food.
That didn't really help.
"Like what?" you pressed.
The jock took a loud gulp of his soda. "Well, he says that he--"
He was cut off by the loud slamming of the front door. The both of you were altered to the booming noise, making you both flinch as you turned to see none other than Blake enter the tiny diner.
The bully's eyes scanned the area before landing on you, narrowing in your direction.
Uh-oh...
To be continued...

That blake and blek interactions post was really fun! Can you do one for rwy and jnr for they're modern counterparts?
Sure!
I think that V1-5 Weiss would start out not liking her counterpart very much and that the two of them might develop a rivalry actually, with V1-5 Weiss being like "That imposter is NOT like me. She's less skilled and her attitude is somehow way worse than mine was a year ago!" And the V6-9 Weiss being like "I can't believe I was ever this annoying," and V1-5 Weiss would think her other self is weak and ineffectual while V6-9 Weiss would think HER other self is mean and self-centered. But the changes in Weiss in the show(while bad enough) are still subtle enough that they'd act more like twins and also be on each other's sides sometimes, and both of them have the distinction of being able to be a bit more calm and self-reflective. Also though I think they'd both get possessive over their loved ones and on a funnier note, V1-5 Weiss would be so disgusted and annoyed by V6-9 Weiss's apparent interest in Jaune. XD
If you had asked me about Ruby's reaction to her future counterpart prior to V9, I would've said that V1-5 Ruby would hate her. But I think after V9, while V1-5 Ruby would still probably get very annoyed by her other self, I think she'd be primarily confused and perturbed by the changes, but also like Blake want to help her other self, but V6-9 Ruby would be resistant. I'm imagining V1-5 Ruby smiling and being like "I know things look bleak, and I know you're tired, but you can-" and V6-9 Ruby is like "I know what you’re gonna say" and V1-5 Ruby is like "Eh... What?" And V6-9 Ruby would tell her that SHE'S made those speeches already, a lot, and it hadn't gotten her far, and then V1-5 Ruby would be like "Well... I'm gonna say it again, with MORE passion! Because we're gonna do it, and that's that!" I think it would actually be fun to watch, because post-V9 Ruby just wants someone else to be the leader, and is more cynical and seems to want to think things through and be realistic (and has those weird Torchwickisms) and she's just tired and needs some help, and V1-5 Ruby would literally identify the problem, help, BE THE LEADER, and have all her optimistic ways and determination and drag V6-9 Ruby along with her.... But V6-9 Ruby would literally be able to lean into the realistic ways and be able to be the person telling V1-5 Ruby to think about the cost of things and things like that. It might actually work out for them.
V1-5 Yang I think actually WOULD hate her V6-9 self. I think coming out of V5 (which I still say is Yang at her best,) V5 Yang would be so weirded out and exasperated by her other self, and spend all her time trying to deal with her while trying to stay level-headed. Like, V6-9 Yang would be like "Ruby doesn't need any change, she's never doubted herself" and V1-5 Yang would be like "Well that's not true, Ruby HAS doubted herself." And V6-9 Yang would act like her own teammates are a threat to Blek because they raised their voice a little, and OG Yang would be like "Are you KIDDING me? They weren’t going to attack you, why are you so paranoid?" And just generally argue with her other self all the time. They might even come to blows if it got bad enough!
I think Ren and his other self would mostly be chill, able to just hang out, though I do think that V1-5 Ren would like, crack dry good natured jokes and V6-9 Ren would be like "It isn't the time for that," because he seems generally more serious than his younger self.
V1-5 Nora would ALSO fight with her other self a lot, I think, but she'd spend more of her time trying to ignore V6-9 Nora and trying to befriend and take care of everyone else that she decides her other self 'isn't treating right.' XD She'd like, have her arm around Oscar and be like "Nobody is mean to my boy Oscar OR my boy Oz, you all - Other Ren, come stand behind me. Nobody be mean to them!"
V.1-5 Jaune would ALSO hate his V6-9 self so much. He'd be like "so you're not only telling me that I turned into this weird buff Cardin-haired weird white-streaked weird super weird guy, but he was just a forty year old man with a beard... And I'm like THIS?" And V6-9 Jaune would be like "You don't know what I've suffered alone" and V1-5 Jaune would be like "Ohhh I just bet, vomit boy. See, this is why I hate myself." I think V1-6 Jaune would just be so unable to connect with his alternate that he just kind of blocks him out and refuses to even call him Jaune, and would just be like "Tough guy over there-" and his other self would be like -_-
I'm not saying all these reactions would be totally fair, but it's what I think would probably happen. XD

Here’s a tough question. Top 3 favorite and least favorite things about each RWBY volume?
Sorry for the delay, this is something I've had to really think about.
V1 Faves
The initiation/Nevermore fight. Let's be honest this is where these legends started.
Blake & Yang meeting for the first time
Weiss and Blake coming to terms with each other
V`1 least faves
The animation. I know it was Poser, they had no budget, etc. That doesn't make it any easier to watch
That one line from Yang about boys that has haunted the discourse for nearly a decade.
TBH barely anyone had a character any deeper than surface level
V2 Faves
Yang talking to Blake in Burning The Candle. This is where their relationship became more than partners, deeper than just friendship
The talk between Weiss, Blake and Yang at Mountain Glenn. Something that would be directly referenced much later in V9
"Best Day Ever" - the food fight between RWBY and JNPR is just big dumb fun
V2 least faves
Jaune and his pursuit of Weiss. Obnoxious to the extreme.
Sun - that's it
"Breach" in general was kind of a mess and really was there to have a giant fight scene.
V3 Faves
"Heroes And Monsters" - It feels weird listing something so horrible and tragic as a favorite thing but what happened between Yang, Blake and Adam in this chapter would define these characters going forward all the way until almost the end of V6 and was a significant point in Blake & Yang's relationship
Also from "Heroes And Monsters" - Velvet unleashing Anesidora with "I May Fall" blasting is still so amazing to this day.
Yang being framed for injuring Mercury and Blake deciding to trust in her.
(I really could go on about V3 with many more positives.)
V3 least faves
SSSN vs NDGO - I DON'T CARE
Might be controversial but Pyrrha's death. I understood the narrative need for it but it doesn't mean I liked it
Same for Penny
V4 Faves
Meeting Blake's parents. Ghira and Kali are treasures.
The fight with Tyrian
Yang getting her new arm and starting her healing process
(Honorable mention to Blake, with Sun's help, starting to understand that sometimes you have to let people in and it's THEIR choice to want to be in your life. Also honorable mention to Ruby's letter in "No Safe Haven")
V4 least faves
Tai's "advice" both in "Family" and "One Step Forward..."
Sun. (I didn't start to be able to tolerate him unti V5)
Not nearly enough Yang
V5 Faves
Yang and Ruby reuniting - I always cry
Weiss' talk with Yang in "Alone Together" (which is also when I'm convinced she realized that Yang loved Blake)
"Yang...?" *Dumbfounded stare from Yang
(Honorable mention to Yang reading Raven for filth)
V5 least faves
The pacing wasn't great and yeah the big fight was lackluster
While the animation was fine the colors always felt very muted to me
Lionheart (not that I resented his use in the story, I just hate the dude)
V6 faves:
The Bees Vs Adam (was I gonna say anything else?)
The Brunswick Arc (why is CRWBY so good at horror?)
The fight with the Leviathan.
V6 least faves:
These are mostly really minor complaints
Dee and Dudley - annoying
The big lore dump, while not BAD was a LOT
Oscar vanishing and getting a new set of clothes off camera not that I care that much but I think it could have been handled better
V7 Faves
The makeovers, with the possible exception of Wess I thought everyone looked great and TBH Yang never looked better
The Bees getting ready to go on a date
Nora spilling the tea ABOUT the Bees
(Honorable mention to RBY standing by Weiss when she confronted Jacqass. Also honorable mention to Yang/Blake VS Elm/Vine)
V7 least faves (not writing critical just characters getting on my nerves)
Harriet is annoying
The AceOps being Ironwood's unthinking lapdogs
Ironwood coming out as a complete dumbass.
V8 Faves
Beeunion 2.0
Yang, Jaune and Ren infiltrating Salem's HQ and the fight that ensues. Especially Yang getting to talk smack to Salem and blowing her tits off.
Penny frying Cinder
(Honorable mention to Maria kicking Neo's ass)
V8 least faves
Ironwood continues to be a complete and total dumbass
Ren being a jerk. Thankfully he gets over it
Yang's fall. (not bad on a value level but it HURT)
V9 Faves:
The Bees confession - absolutely perfect. Could not be improved on
The fight scene in Rude, Red and Royal
Ruby getting her groove back and showing CC just how powerful she really is.
V9 least faves: (and I'm allowing for what I know was a difficult production)
We could have used at least another two chapters because some scenes and transitions were way too brief and as a result didn't have the emotional impact they should have
We didn't get the prologue that was shown at RTX
Minor complaint but in Chapter 1 I wish Blake had been shown as being a bit more worried about Yang since she saw her "die"
Wow, this was a LOT!

✣ Blake Wrapped: Author Edition 🖋
According to Storygraph, these were the authors I read most of this year!
V. E. Schwab I’ve read a bunch of her books before (Addie Larue, had problems; Vicious, one of my favorite books ever; This Savage Song, annoyed that she doesn’t write this stuff all the time), but never the Shades of Magic series, which is…weird as someone who almost always goes to fantasy before any other subgenre. So I finally bit the bullet and read the trilogy, as well as the first book of the sequel trilogy, which came out in September. Like always with Schwab, it was hit and miss. The first book I found excruciatingly slow, almost painful to finish. The second book I LOVED since it had a much faster pace and more interesting characters. Book 3 was far too long—not exactly as slow as the first, but there were just pages from the villain’s POV that I skimmed because I couldn’t be bothered. Book 1 of the new trilogy was good—it had a fan service feel, but the two new protagonists seem cool, and I think this series might be more interesting on the whole. The thing with Schwab’s style that I keep coming back to is that she writes morally grey really well. If a character is behaving villainously, the more I’ll like them. Hence the fact that Vicious is my favorite book of hers. Ditto with male characters: many of her female characters’ arcs strike me as weirdly reductive, but her men have a more felt quality to them somehow. I can’t say she’s a beloved author or even a favorite author, but I enjoy picking her brain.
Alix E. Harrow I finally read The Ten Thousand Doors of January earlier this year because its premise is not unlike that of my WIP, and I had avoided it for a while due to like … jealousy and also a desire not to get my own plot derailed from its influence. The book was so good though. I know that Harrow and I share a lot of literary influences, which automatically predisposes me to like her style, but it just ticked a lot of boxes: voice, setting, plot, magic, etc. That being said, I’m not sure if any of her other books quite live up. Her Fractured Fairy Tales were enjoyable but nothing memorable. The Once and Future Witches honestly bored me. Starling House was the best of this year’s heavy spate of “Gothic/House books with far too big a helping of Women Thoughts” that I forced myself through (The Last Tale of the Flower Bride, A Study in Drowning, and The Hacienda were the others), but it still lacked the lush immersion of TTDJ that I was hoping for. I’m definitely going to keep looking out for what she publishes since it’s very much my thing, but I really hope she’ll be able to match the quality of her debut again sometime soon.
Shirley Jackson Where do I begin? I gulped down four books of her in a row and wished I had read them all years before. I’ve posted a bunch of Jackson thoughts before, but I think what I adore most about her work is she reads like a shadow of LM Montgomery. LMM curves toward, but ultimately curves away from, the darkness that waits for the unsuspecting person. Jackson paves a straight road into it and doesn’t come out. But they write around a lot of the same topics: houses as extensions of the self, female individuality, female social identity, the life of the mind, queerness (in the sense of unbelonging as well as being not-straight), landscapes, depression, cats, family dynamics, etc. Even though I came to her late, I’m also not that mad about it since I do think my twenty-something self is a bit more predisposed to get something out of her books than my teen self would have. In any case, I definitely need to fill my shelves with her books.
Marina and Sergey Dyachenko Vita Nostra broke my brain at the beginning of the year, and I haven’t quite put it back together again. I’m not sure if it’s a translation thing, but the prose, the plot structure, the way the entire novel is put together, feels so different from an English-language novel. It was so refreshing, in all senses of the word: it felt like diving into a deep pool of dark water. Naturally, nothing else they would write could come close to that novel, but I still sought out their other works in translation, giddy for more of that experience. The sequel novel was tolerable, though did little to wrap up much of the plot—in fact, it only seemed to complicate it further without much promise of a finale (I do think a Book 3 is on the way, though). Daughter of the Dark was the third book of theirs I read, and it was also fairly interesting—a good speculative literary feel—but altogether lacking in the magic of VN. Which is fine for me, all in all. Sometimes masterpieces need to stand alone.

Do you have any potential fun ideas for interactions between ruby and ren or blake and jaune?
See these are fun questions because I had Blake and Ren and Jaune and Ruby but the swapped dynamics are ones I hadn't considered yet. This was a very fun exercise, I love figuring out friend dynamics.
I did lose the plot a bit in thinking about their dynamics in general but hope it's still a good read.
Going to do a readmore because this'll probably get long:
It's a trickier one because Ruby is someone who plays well of of people when she knows what to talk to them about/can find common ground and Ren is definitely quiet like Blake. But his quiet in early volumes at least is more just comfortable silence where he's fine letting other people talk. I could see them being left alone and Ruby floundering her way through a conversation as she tries to think of something they both have in common and Ren ends up finding this so endearing and sweet that ultimately he warms up to her enough to start having a conversation.
During their time at Beacon they wouldn't interact a whole lot but they'd generally be supportive of each other during successes and the idea of Ruby making supportive signs for team JNPR in the tournament that Ren happens to see and chuckle at is a nice thought. And likewise during her own fights in the arena I could see any approval from Pyrrha and Ren towards Ruby, being viewed as "My cool older friends think I'm neat!"
I'm someone who views Ren and Yang as pretty good friends so I think by close proximity he almost has an older brother dynamic with Ruby where during the gap between 3 and 4, he'd be the one watching Ruby's back and perhaps even sending updates back to Yang every so often to let her know the group is safe even if she's not responding. He doesn't talk much and he's not good at showing he cares, but he can. I imagine he keeps notes on weapons for Ruby, also being the type to speak up when she's doing something more reckless than normal in a very calm "Are you sure?" Way.
Ruby on her end I think would come to trust his judgements similar to yang. If he speaks up to ask for clarification she knows it's done to make sure she's confident in her plans and not leaving something out. I don't know if it's canon but I enjoy the idea of Ren liking plants and flowers so Ruby sometimes will explain plants she sees or take pictures with her scroll to ask Ren what they are since he typically talks most when it's in regards to things he knows.
If there's one thing I'd add to atlas arc Ren it would he him using other characters to avoid spending time with Nora so he doesn't have to confront his feelings. Something Ruby immediately catches into because "You can't seriously want to hang out that bad Ren." Which in turn leads to him avoiding her when she starts getting curious about why he's avoiding Nora.
Overall: caring older brother and younger sister dynamic.
For Blake and Jaune I'm going to be operating based on my rewrite because that's where I've thought about their dynamic the most. For reference Blake works as a double agent for Adam who sent her into Beacon to gather information and assist in bringing it down. Adam being part of Salem's inner circle and faunus racism being removed from the narrative:
I don't actually think they'd interact much before Blake reunites with the group in volume 5. Largely because my handling of Blake is a bit different and she barely interacted with most people preferring to keep to herself. It isn't from lack of trying on Jaune's end, it's just that Beacon Blake was on a specific mission and very prickly around most people with very few exceptions. Unlike Ren who is fine relaxing with people while they talk, Blake would be the type to leave a room if she's annoyed enough and Jaune "I'll talk and be friendly because that's who I am and finding common ground is like a needle in a haystack to me" arc isn't great with befriending people like her. He's willing to give her space even if he's sad she's so unwelcoming.
When Blake shows back up after dipping though Jaune is part of the trio of main characters who aren't keen on her. Weiss, Yang, and Jaune all have different reasons for their feelings. Jaune sort of feels she's responsible for Pyrrha's death because she helped the villains bring down Beacon, leading to Pyrrha and Cinder's face off. It'll be some of the first truly negative feelings Jaunes had about someone because up until that point, Jaune would be a "everyone deserves a chance to change" person.
And then we have Blake who is now very serious about proving to everyone she has changed, that she is doing better and helping. Volume 6 is a cold space for the group, but in the finale when Adam is killed by Blake and she agonizes over it that's when the group starts to mend. Because everyone understands Blake will sacrifice and hurt if it means others can be sparred.
Volume 7 is tentative growth for the group, with Blake being more lively than ever before it allows for a softness. I could see Jaune and her talking about their grief and hugging it out because 1000% Jaune with 7 sisters is a hugger to his core.
Early Atlas is a bit like a catch-up point where Jaune and Blake periodically hang out as a way of trying to mend gaps and understand each other better. Jaune also seems the type to be at least slightly nosy enough to try and encourage Blake and Yang if he happens to notice (which based on volume 9 it seems everyone noticed.)
I could even see them training so that should the groups split up for missions, each unit would still have some level of understanding when working together. I think as time progresses they could be good friends but at least by the time Vacuo hits they're not as close as they are with other characters. Blake trusts in plans he comes up with though, and she's the type to hone in on details to make things go smoothly.
Overall: Platonic Golden Retriever and Black cat dynamic in a way.

Do you think Yang would understand why Jaune had to kill Penny or Will Weiss and Blake be the only ones to understand?
That's such a good question. I never really put thought to how Yang would react. She had the least number of interactions with Penny, but that doesn't mean she doesn't care for her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe she will either be the most neutral on what happened or the one to express anger if Ruby decides to bottle it up.
Yang does tend to be the hot-headed one of the cast. Reacting with anger first towards things. Her hair getting touched, her not understanding things, when she reaches an obstacle, when a loved one is in danger, when she doesn't get the answers she wants, the whole Oz situation, and even her giving Ruby advice she comes off a bit annoyed with her tone.
However, Yang, Jaune, and Blake are the only main cast members to have ended a life in show.
I think for that reason Yang will have an understanding. Death sometimes is unavoidable.
Penny's death is something she and others had to come to terms with at least twice. During the fall of Beacon she died. Everyone had the opportunity to mourn her. The second time was when she got hacked. I'm sure some of our protagonists started preparing for her death once again the moment she started talking about self-terminating and asking for herself to be killed.
This is a show about war, and losses already have been met. Yang understands this. Yang has lost so much. Her mothers, her childhood, her arm, Pyrrha, Penny, her sister and partner left her for a couple of volumes along with another teammate being forcibly taken away. Yang knows loss.
A notable moment in volume 8 is the talk Yang has with Ruby. Which sets out her thought process:
"We need hope. We need to take risks.---- Ruby they're not sure things, they're called risks. And in case you didn't notice, my plan for Mantle didn't work either. But we got Oscar back and did a lot more that was never in the plan. Mom took a risk the day she left, and I don't... I don't think it went the way she wanted it to, but she's still my hero."
She'll view Jaune mercy killing Penny as exactly that, a mercy kill.
They made a risk in order to protect Penny. They did their best but like Yang said, they're not sure things. Penny had the odds against her and in the end fell. Jaune killing Penny sucked but was the best option at the time.
Yang will understand.

top books of 2024 (so far)
unfortunately, school is back on... so in these 4.5 months i've read 19 books!
top book: since this is a collation of 4.5 months and i read i lot of series, i'll pick 2: the house with chicken legs (read march, rated ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐) & i hope this doesn't find you (read may, rated ⭐⭐⭐⭐) both of these books were wonderfully written with an engaging plot and covered some deep themes without it getting heavy or boring. these were a
top series: picking two! nevermoor by jessica townsend (i read all 3 of these books) and the illuminae files (read 2/3 books). both of these series are ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ because. they're just. amazing.
other books i read:
three dark crowns series by kendare blake ⭐⭐⭐⭐. MWAH. DELICIOUS. fantasy lands, murderous sisters and politics? COUNT ME IN. the first book was crazy boring since it was all context but it's IMPORTANT context. also the last 10% of it is INSANE. would recommend!
the legends of eerie-on-sea series by thomas taylor mysterious orphan trope going adventuring done right. the suspense is crazy and even after re-reading these books for like the 3rd time it's still as engaging as ever! ⭐⭐⭐⭐.
the mulberry tree by allison rushby mc is annoying sometimes, but overall a good book with a good plot and i'm ngl i really liked the realistic fantasy element of this! would recommend for younger readers since immy (mc) is 10 turning 11 and i think adults would love it too. ⭐⭐⭐⭐.
before the coffee gets cold by toshikazu kawaguchi sweet, heart touching stories and a cup of time travelling coffee. ⭐⭐⭐⭐.
coraline by neil gaiman a horror story for kids, but i loved it. i'm ngl the concept did creep me out, and it did its job well. would definitely reread. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.
othello by shakespeare it was actually not that bad! iago was characterised really well and the machiavel characterisation used to justify is actions (a machiavel is just someone who justifies morally wrong actions to gain power) was really interesting. watching othello's descent into madness was also well written. ⭐⭐⭐⭐.
demon slayer (kimetsu no yaiba) vol. 1 by koyoharu gotouge how can you NOT like demon slayer. go read it rn. or watch it. whichever. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.
the spanish love deception by elena armas, icebreaker by hannah grace and accidentally amy by lynn painter these are all grouped together bc they're all romances i dnfed. i need some sort of plot in my novels and i need it to be 70% plot 30% romance or i lose interest. this was 90% romance and 10% plot so i really just couldn't. accidentally amy was decent since lynn painter is really good at writing romance, but in both icebreaker and spanish love deception they fell in love really easily. also, i skipped like 80% of icebreaker since it was all smut and i don't really want to read that.
