Baby olympia stole my hearth, their little family is soo cute 🥹, if it's okay with you love, could you do one where Thena is doing something with baby olympia like feeding her or dressing her (in a super cute outfit 'cause thena is a fashion icon) and Gil is watching them, falling more in love with his girls, feeling grateful that he came back to Thena and that their little her was born. Just Gil being soft for his girls. 🩷

Gil keeps an eye on them - his girls - in the corner of the room.

Thena calls it 'feeding', which it is in some ways. She sits in the rocking chair Phastos constructed for them, and she holds Olympia, and both of them enter a dreamlike state as Cosmic Energy slowly leaves Thena and is absorbed by their little supernova.

Their little miracle--Gil still can't believe it.

He can't even believe that he's alive, for starters. His last memory is of him on his back on the amazon forest floor, looking up at Thena (much to her dismay). But he remembers she was smiling until the moment he closed his eyes.

Next thing he knows, he's alive again, Sersi has saved the world, there's a Celestial sticking out of the ocean and he and Thena have catching up to do. And then Thena is pregnant.

No one saw it coming, of course. No one could have. They all thought of Ajak often during the process of it all, but they were on their own for it. Thank all the stars in the sky for Sersi, and Phastos. All their siblings, of course.

Druig and Sprite are most wary of the baby, no matter how they love her. Sprite excels at entertaining young Olympia, if nothing else. She does seem amused by Druig, as if his constantly reading her young mind has established a somewhat two-way connection.

Kingo says he doesn't like that, because he should be her favourite. He and Phastos argue on that often. But, although Makkari bouncing and jogging her (gently!) around the Domo is fun for them both, Sersi is of course Thena's chosen second mother for their child.

And there could be no better, he agrees. Sersi has always been the most human, and the most connected to the ways of the heart. She's sweet, and warm, and has an awareness of the soul that none of the rest of them possess.

Gil admits this freely; he has only one soul to which his is linked.

It's strange to think that his wife has now lived part of her life without him, and yet to him he has spent not even a day without her. But he can see how she's worn out by what she's endured. He wishes he could take it on for her; it's not fair.

Gil walks into their shared room. It's still just his personal quarters in the Domo--far from luxurious. Phastos did do them the kindness of engineering an expansion, just into the next room, but the extra space was still appreciated.

There is also a small crib for Olympia, mere steps away from the bed.

He chuckles, looking at the little mobile above it. It's a simple thing, but Thena did whittle and paint it herself. There are dinosaurs and pegasi and also regular birds. A whole history's worth of creatures.

They all guessed he would be the one who would be unable to bear being away from Olympia. And they are right, but it's Thena who has the most acute anxiety about it.

Only by his and Sersi's convincing did she allow them to install the crib at all. If it were up to Thena, she would be holding their child in her arms until the day she was Sprite's height.

Gil kneels down in front of his beautiful girls. Olympia is sleeping soundly, absorbing little dewdrops of Cosmic Energy from her mother like a meadow receives the rain. Sersi reasons that human children often need extra vitamins and nutrients besides in just their food; perhaps this is the same.

He brushes his fingers over his daughter's tiny head; she really does look like a tiny Thena, although he thinks her hair is getting a little darker just at the roots. He kisses her little forehead. She scrunches her face. "I'm sorry, my little sunburst."

"You're here."

He smiles up at his wife, her enchanting green eyes affixed to him. She looks even more stunning since bringing Olympia into the world. "I'm here."

It's become a kind of greeting for them. Thena will voice those words as if one day he won't affirm them. But he has no right to worry about that when it's very possible that she has experienced that in some form or another.

He leans up, capturing her lips against his tenderly.

Thena sighs as they part, her head tilting lazily as she relaxes that last little bit. Her eyes shine at him, "she's strong."

The connection between Warrior Eternal and her progeny is one that brings tears to his eyes. He moves the back of his knuckle against his daughter's cheek, "I know. Look who her mother is."

Thena lets him kiss her cheek with reverence. "To say nothing of her father. Two of the galaxy's deadliest--she will be a force to be reckoned with."

"She," Gilgamesh pats the soft of his palm against Olympia's head, "will never have to know battle, so long as we live."

"Yes," Thena sighs, letting herself believe his reassurance. She inhales, adjusting her arms, "here."

It's a simple thing, but it moves him that she trusts him so completely with their daughter. Of course she does, he is her father. But he knows Thena--knows the way she twitches and flinches and watches. She is made to be vigilant, after all, and even with their own family, she is always keenly aware of their daughter's whereabouts.

But with him, she hands her over. Thena has no question about his ability to prioritise and protect their child.

He makes room as she stands from the chair. She wobbles faintly and he moves so she can lean into his side. "Easy."

He isn't entirely sure what takes place during the 'feedings'. Because he also makes her regular old milk and feeds that to her. But Phastos and Druig alike cannot fathom what takes place between mother and child and their connection of energy.

Thena nuzzles her face into his shoulder.

"You're tired," he chuckles, holding their daughter in one arm and his wife in the other. "Nap with me."

Thena mumbles faintly. And while he doesn't hear it, he knows it's because she wants them to have Olympia in the bed in between them, instead of in the crib.

"We talked about this," he reminds her as he oh-so gently lays Olympia down on the little cot within the high walls. "You trust Sersi."

"Of course I trust Sersi," she grumbles, as if she is not grinding her teeth in her head to distract from her separation anxiety.

"She needs to learn to sleep on her own," he says gently, pulling Thena with him to the bed. "You can't hold her forever, sweetheart."

"We live forever."

He chuckles, careful not to be too loud with his little sunflower in the room. But he tucks some of Thena's hair away from her face and kisses the corner of her amazing lips. "As will she. And that's a long time for her to sleep in her own bedroom."

He can practically hear his wife's feelings about their infant daughter sleeping in a completely separate room. He presses his nose to the sculpted hollow of her cheek. "I will want you all to myself again someday, you know."

That makes her smile. She laughs faintly as he kisses her cheek and pulls them to lie down together. She settles into his chest, his arms wrapped around her, their daughter's tiny breaths reaching their inhuman ears. "You have your priorities I see."

"I do," he answers honestly, rubbing Thena's back and burying his nose in the hair at the top of her head. "It's my two girls, always. My new little star and the sun of my galaxy."

"Hm," Thena allows him to relish the contact with her. "I shall pretend that's sweet, instead of you being eager to bed me again."

"I can be a sweet and loving father, and also your husband, y'know."

tuesday lunchbox: prank lunchbox

Thena, Kingo and Ikaris gawk at her lunchbox. She woke up late this morning so she didn’t see what Gil put in the box. And she’s about to have lunch with Kingo and Ikaris so that they can discuss work. Work is the last thing she cares about at the moment.

“Did he make a mistake or something?” Kingo asks.

“Did you two have a fight?” Ikaris eyes her suspiciously.

“We did not fight,” Thena glares at him.

“Then why does your lunchbox only have white rice and dried seaweed?”

“Hold on,” Kingo cuts him off, “Gil would never do this to Thena, even if they were fighting. He’s not that petty. Thena, try digging up the rice.”

They all hold their breath as Thena separates the rice and seaweed with her spoon.

“There they are,” Ikaris chuckles.

“See?” Kingo smiles, “I said he isn’t that kind of person. He’s probably bored and wanted to pull a prank on you.”

“And yet you look quite relieved,” Ikaris snorts.

“I just thought how bad your hangry would be if he actually forgot to put other side food in there.”

“Overtime works bad,” Thena says.

“That would be our situation today anyway,” Ikaris shakes his head.

“Let’s just eat then,” Kingo shrugs.

Thena sighs. She can’t escape work today but at least she can enjoy a real lunch after thinking that she would have to eat only white rice and dried seaweed. Gil hid a lot of side food under a thick layer of rice, undoubtedly on purpose. They are all her favourites; sauté salmon, fried squid with mayonnaise and a pinch of chili powder, asparagus and broccoli stir-fried with oyster sauce. He knows and remembers very well what she likes and doesn’t like. She likes when her meals have something spicy. She loves sweets, but not too sweet. She doesn’t like bitter food, he even remembers her weird grudge against okra.

She devours her lunchbox while Kingo and Ikaris are sharing a box of grilled eel rice and a roasted chicken sandwich they bought at Eternal. They arrived at the shop even earlier than yesterday but again there was only one box left. It seems like more and more people have heard about this impressive lunch set and wanted to try it. Maybe by the end of the summer, Gil would add it to Eternal’s fixed menu and maintain the limited policy so that his coffee shop won’t be turning into an eel restaurant.

“It was shocking, wasn’t it?”

“Yeah, it snapped me out of my grogginess,” she rolls her eyes and pulls her car to a stop at the red light, “I was wide awake for the rest of the day.”

She listens to his laugh on the other end of the phone, “I bet you already thought of quite a few ways to get back at me at the time.”

“Maybe just one or two,” she scrunches her nose, taking a right turn to the familiar street.

“Oh, I think I see your car,” he says. She speeds up a bit and Eternal comes into her view. Her nose stings with emotions when she spots Gil, still wearing his work apron, standing at the front door and waiting for her. It’s been almost two months since the last time she had to stay at the office until past 9 pm. Even though it’s only because they have too much work, even Kingo and Ikaris left at the same time as she did, but it looks like Gil has been worried. She stops her car in front of his shop and jumps to his chest. She can feel his arms around her and he asks:

“Have you eaten?”

“I have,” she rubs her cheeks on his apron, “Me and the guys called pizza.”

Gilgamesh always asks her that question whenever they can’t eat together. Perhaps many people would find it lame, even annoying but Thena finds it incredibly endearing, it’s likely that because it comes from him and he only ever has good intentions. But let’s face it, you usually just ask the question to the ones you love or really care about. You care about their well-being, you always want to know that they eat well, sleep well, those are human’s most basic needs.

“You’ve worked hard,” he nuzzles her hair.

“Thanks for waiting for me,” she closes her eyes, clutching at the back of his shirt.

Inside, the lights are still on, most of the chairs are put upside down on the tables so that he can clean up, except for one table with a cup on top, where he was sitting. The lights in the kitchen are on as well and she can hear the faint sound of a mixer.

“Who’s in the kitchen?”

“It’s Makkari. She took Kingo’s advice and started her baking vlog channel. I stay to prepare tomorrow’s ingredients and help her set up her camera and all,” Gil pulls out another chair and helps her in, “I think she’s making a peach mousse cake.”

“Will we get to try some of it?” Thena smiles, a mention of sweets cheers her up in no time.

“Chances are high. Can I make you a drink first?”

“Any suggestions from my chef?” She puts her elbows on the table, cupping her face with her hands.

“Special latte with lots of love,” Gil winks and Thena giggles, her cheeks flushed.

Gil makes her a cup of hot latte, with his full combo latte art that she thinks it looks like six tortured faces but in fact it’s a “smiling bouquet”, according to him. It’s delicious nevertheless. Gil refills his milk tea cup, then sits down across from her. He gives her an impromptu massage on her left hand while she’s sipping her drink. She starts talking about her day and soon enough, they once again laugh about her lunchbox.

“Very creative, I’ll give you that. But don’t do it again.”

“How about once a month? I’ll leave your favourites beneath the rice each time.”

“I want scallops next time.”

“Consider it’s done,” he presses a kiss to the back of her hand and switches to massage the other.

Thena asks him about his day and he complains to her that this morning he wanted to decorate the menu board at the front door but Sprite demanded that he should never do it.

“I know that’s her job but today is her second exam and I just wanted to help,” Gil pouts, “Instead she yelled at me and shooed me away.”

“Did you use your boss card?”

“No, I didn’t.”

“Use it next time then,” she wants nothing more than to kiss away his pout, “You indulge her too much.”

“Could it be that my drawing skills are bad?”

For the record, he’s looking at her with his puppy eyes, and that affects a lot on her following answer.

“You have a unique style, it’s just that Sprite can’t see it,” She shrugs, “However, you decorate your food like little masterpieces, and no one can deny it.”

Now she’s the one that picks up his hands and gives him a massage. She treats his large, calloused hands as gently as she can, counting every old and new cut and burned mark on them, the hands of a true chef.

“Your hands are precious, don’t let anyone make you believe otherwise,” she says.

“You too,” he grins, nodding at the painting that she gifted him last Christmas.

“I’ll paint you another, it’s summer anyway.”

“Then I’ll hang it on that wall over there,” he squeezes her hands once.

Makkari puts two slices of pink peach mousse cake down in front of them.

Enjoy! the pastry chef/new vlogger smiles, signing at Gil, Thanks for helping me set up my “studio”. I cleaned the kitchen for you.

“Thank you!” He signs back, “Wanna join us?”

Nah, I know you guys miss each other. Just continue your date, I’m going home now.

Gil blushes hard but insists, “At least let me walk you home. You shouldn’t go alone at this time.”

“He’s right,” Thena says, “I know your place isn’t far from here but it would be safer if he went with you.”

Fine, Makkari rolls her eyes, Just so you would stop worrying.

“Yeah,” Gil gets up and Thena helps him untie his apron, “If Druig knew we let you walk home alone late at night, we’d never hear the end of it.”

He bends down to kiss Thena, she lifts a hand to caress his face.

“I’ll be right back.”

“I’ll try to save some cake for you.”

“Well, you can eat both slices if you want to,” he rubs his nose against hers.

“But you love peach cake.”

“I love you more.”

Makkari slaps Gil’s back, Are you going or not?

“Right, sorry, let’s go,” he says, giving Thena one last wave then runs after Makkari, who’s already out of the door. Thena looks out the window until they disappear around the corner before digging her fork into the cake. She sincerely hopes that Makkari would succeed in this vlog thing, and it has very little to do with her getting free pastries on their late-night dates at Gil’s shop.

Concept #1: The nerd in Erik slips once in a while with his friend group and they tease him about it when it happens. Rogers is the only one who defends him (Because he’s secretly also a nerd).

Concept #2: Everyone has a favourite dog but not all will admit it… Loki knows all of these preferences for some reason 🧠 even the ones who never gave any hints out loud. (They start to think he can talk to the dogs).

This is just what I could come up with ;) if it doesn’t match your interpretation of the characters or doesn’t motive you, it’s okay! I thought it was a cute dynamic regardless.

i loooove both of these ideas so much! (this ended up being pretty long, hence the keep reading. enjoy!

concept one: nerd!erik

nerd!erik is a complete gem (see what i did there. he's a geologist... and a gem is a rock... aha)

sometimes he doesn't even realize that he's slipped into a rant about the different types of rocks found in antarctica... or about why penguins, along with five other bird species) don't fly... or about why the empire strikes back is better than a new hope

UNTIL someone (usually wilson) clears their throat to politely interrupt him

and that's when the teasing starts ;) (which loki ends up hearing all the way in the dog kennel)

all light-hearted, of course, but it usually goes on for a while... i mean, what else is there to do down there?

everyone is all smiles as the jokes roll in. even bruce gets in on it.

"i really had no idea penguins couldn't fly. thank you so much, professor almanac."

and pietro. "you know, sometimes i forget that we have an actual yoda down here with us, guys."

and kingo. "your head is a surprisingly normal size for all that smart shit you have tucked away up there."

before it can get too far, m.t. rogers interferes with a light smile.

"alright gentlemen, that's enough. let's get back to work."

he's up before anyone can say anything else. but before he marches down the hallway, "oh, and erik? i don't know who you've been talking to, but they're completing wrong. new hope over empire any day of the week..."

cue raised eyebrows between m'baku and barnes; loud cackles from wilson and rhodey; even a smile from druig.

concept two: everyone's favorite dogs

as we all know, pietro is quite the menace. sometimes it's on purpose... other times he can't help it. much like now, as he passes pass the open and unlocked door of loki's room. he knows that the last thing he should do is sneak in. curiosity killed the cat, after all. however, curiosity brought him back, no?

pietro enters as quietly is he can, afraid that all he's done is called into a trap. when loki doesn't jump out from behind the door or from under the bed, pietro lets out a breath.

he's in.

a slew of questions fill his head in record time. how is it so clean? why does it look like his bed hasn't been slept in?

BUT all of these questions leave his head when he spots a small journal on the small desk in the corner of loki's room. pietro smiles before rushing and flipping it open. his eyebrows furrow when he comes across a page titled favorite dogs.

m'baku -

his favorite is definitely ghost, who likes to keep him company when he's outside cleaning the helicopter before a trip

sometimes, ghost blends in to well with the snow, giving m'baku an occasional heart attack

but ghost is too busy playing to notice

erik, rogers -

chase is erik's pick

he's sweet and loves to sit with erik while he works

chase sometimes ends up spending the night in erik's room, having fallen asleep to his rambles

however, erik couldn't care less. at least chase actually listens to him

and rogers can't help but be fondest of this dog as well

he knows the most tricks out of the rest of the dogs

(most of which rogers taught him)

rogers even has a few sketches of chase in his leather book

druig, barnes -

druig absolutely loves bea, as she's the calmest out of the bunch

and likes it when druig reads to her

barnes secretly loves her too

(with those big blue eyes, how could he not)

but don't think he's telling anyone that

thor, wilson, kingo -

mishka is thor's taste tester, loves everything he giver her. except for bananas. for some reason, she hates those.

she also ended up being wilson's support buddy when an injury to his leg put him on bed rest for a couple of days

(now, when he thinks no one is paying attention, wilson likes to sneak her out of the kennel and lay with her during his naps)

and kingo's the only one who doesn't care that the only game she ever wants to play is tug-of-war

(too bad it's usually one of his slippers she ends up playing with)

rhodes, pietro -

rhodes wouldn't say he's a dog person

but luna's really gotten on his good side

she's very affectionate but knows that he's most comfortable with just scratching her head

however, loki thinks it's all just an act

given that last week he found rhodey down on his knees, gifting luna what looked to be the greatest tummy tub of all time

and pietro? a big luna fan

probably because of the way she follows him around with stars in her eyes

(loki has no idea for the reason behind it. because it's pietro.

but alas

the dog dotes on him, so he can't not like her right?

banner -

dogs are one of the (many) things that make banner nervous

this leads to banner not visiting the dogs much

milo, however, is different

he's patient

and somehow seems to understand banner's apprehension

this leads to milo being banner's favorite

whenever he's around banner, he doesn't bombard him with nose bumps like most of the dogs do

he just sits back and gives him some room

which banner appreciates more than he will ever know

after than, pietro is fully convinced that loki can (literally) speak to the dogs. how else would he know all of this? and when they disclose the theory to the rest of the group, they can't help but wonder what else loki has in the book of his

Finally got around to watching the Eternals, so spoilers I guess if you haven’t seen it.

First of all, the quizzes I took that say I’m a mixture of Dan Whitman and Sersi… accurate as fuck. I adore them both very much.

Gotta say, I’m kinda jealous of whatever gender Sprite has going on. But in all honesty I feel bad for them. Kingo’s whole Peter Pan speech actually made me feel bad. When Sprite said “Why did Arishem make me this way?” I actually choked up a bit. Like I’m so sorry he failed you kiddo. I’ve thought about it many times when I think about vampire lore, but imagine how much it would suck to be seen as a child for all eternity. When you’re literally thousands of years older than anyone currently around you.

Fucking Gilgamesh was the light of my fucking life. He is the best part of this movie and I will die on that fucking hill. It’s bullshit what they did to him. Ajax didn’t hit me that hard because we don’t get to know her nearly as much. But god fucking Damn it, give me my boy back.

Side note, I don’t really like Kingo that much. I just don’t think our personalities gel well. In all honestly, despite how much talent he clearly has, I’m not really a fan of any of that actors characters. I just don’t like the way his character didn’t take anything seriously.

Thena killed me. I’m a sucker for all Angelina Jolie characters. But imagine slowly loosing your mind and being forced to try and kill the people you love most in the world. Especially after she lost Gil, like what the duck, can she live? Can she fucking live? I wanna give my baby girl a hug.

I don’t think I have to say much about Druig, I think we all knew I’d love him. I wanna it’s Barry Keoghan. I’ve been mimicking his stupid adorable accent this whole movie! I think mind control is always one of those powers I’d be truly terrified to have. Like he tried to use them to protect people, and do the right thing. But talking away free will isn’t right. Also the way he flirts with Makkari 🥺 I want that.

I’ll make Phatos and Sersi quick. They are Both adorable and I love them and I wish them nothing but happiness. Like Phatos and his husband and his loiter boy were so cute. God I could watch a whole movie just of them interacting. I love to see POC characters being in the main action!

Least favorite is Ikaris. I hate his stupid smug face, and that silly little hair cut. White boy coming in here and ruining the vibes. Sure his power is kinda cool or whatever. But like even before the twist of the movie, I didn’t like him from the second he showed up. Sersi and Dan are perfect, and Ikaris needs to keep his nose out of their business. Get over her man. Gross.

Now to my favourite character ever. MAKKARI! My sweet baby girl. One she’s literally the hottest person I’ve ever seen, both physically and in personality. Oh my god and the way she signs is mesmerising. I kept reminding the movie just to watch her hands move. I will always love a character who knows sign language, and I think the representation is super important.

If you guys would like any Eternal fics or headcannons let me know. Because I feel cool writing them now that I have seen their cannon interpretations outside of the comics alone.

How I feel about this character

I mean- I love her, your honour? She's my favourite Eternal, one of my favourite MCU characters, I worship the ground she walks on etc etc. She took her scraps of screen time and was charming and compelling from the word go. Love of my life.

All the people I ship romantically with this character

Y'all know its Druig lmao

My non-romantic OTP for this character

Kingo! I think she and Kingo had great sibling vibes, he was usually the person catching her up on events and signing with her, and they were a great team in battle. I think they stay up after everyone else has gone to bed and gossip about the others - Makkari is observant and Kingo is dramatic so I bet they figure out everybody's business lol

My unpopular opinion about this character

Ooh do I have one?? It's not really about the character, but I wish there'd been more signing in the film in general; it would have been nice if more characters signed when talking with Makkari or if Ajak did it during the team meetings when addressing them all.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.

I reject the canon that Makkari stayed on the Domo all those years, girly had treasures to find and vendors to haggle with; I want to know what she got up to during the Eternals split!

I watched the Eternals the other day and I’ve been letting it simmer for a bit

My honest option was that it was a 7.5/10. I can’t rank it any higher though bc it was just a lot that they tried to pack into one thing. Like there were so many characters with individual lives and stories and shoving that all into one movie with a plot and a ton of lore made kind of a mess.

That being said, it was enjoyable. I liked a lot of the characters and felt some sort of emotional connection to them. At the end of the day they also managed to tell a decent enough story that made sense within the already established one.

You were currently on your shared bedroom with Druig at the dome. Laying side by side and game consoles in hands. You were having a blast with the new game you just got. Although it did cause some minor arguments about who did the mission wrong or whatever. The both of you knew you didn't mean it when you argued over games.

You were playing "It Takes Two", resuming a lot the history, it is about a couple that was getting a divorce. Very ironical, to say the bare minimum, since the game and the consoles were your anniversary gift for him, for one of your hundreds (literally) of anniversaries.

You never hoped that Druig would become so found of such a human/modern thing. But he was. He loved games, specially the ones he could play with you. You both would spend hours playing and laughing together, those turned to be one of his favourite moments with you.

The moment at the game now was one of those phases you both had to cooperate to get by. It was turning out to be more stressful than fun. But you both were still smiling at each other every time one of you did a stupid thing that made you loose and have to start over. After you made him fail at one of his tasks he stared at you doing the same expression his character had at the game and said, playfully at you "And that is why we're getting a divorce".

What neither him, or you, could ever imagine, was that a very unaware Kingo was walking by the door of your room and overheard the hole thing. This can't be happening. He thought. Without y/n Druig is going to be unbearable again. He rolled his eyes just by the tough of it. I have to do something.

While you were literally all fun and games. The eternals were crushed at the living room thinking about how would they try to convince you to get back together.

Kingo and Sprite were pure despair. Makkari and Sersi were both feeling offended you didn't talk to them about it before you made your decision, while Ikaris would never admit he cared about the both of you as much as he did, and he did think Druig was more bearable with you so he wasn't exactly happy either. Gilgamesh, Thena and Ajak were being reasonable and saying they would support whatever decision you made. But also sad.

When Ajak came to call the both of you for dinner you could tell something was off, she has a frown on her face and you looked at eachother very confused. You nod at her and say you two are coming soon, just need a little bit more time alone, tho you didn't mention it was for a game. Poor ones. She thought. They're thinking about a way to tell us.

"They're coming" she said now sitting at the table with everyone else. "Don't act all crazy about it. Let them have their own time." Everyone at the table nodded at her statement, ready for the two of you to come and spill the news. Witch got them very confused when the two of you walked at the room holding hands and smiling.

They're good at pretending. Kingo thought. They're so good together. He let out a tear he was quick on wiping out. But not before you noticed it and ask him what was wrong. Y/n's so strong. He thinks. Going through all of this and still concerned about me. "I'm alright" he says giving you a very-clearly-fake kinda smile "Are you alright?" He asks squeezing his eyes giving you a creepy look.

"I am," you say laughing at his weirdness "thanks for asking, kings" with that said you took your place at your seat next to your lover and acted normal trough the whole thing. Obviously. But for your other fellow eternals it was starting to get weird. You two were saying nothing?

By the end of the meal, Kingo was getting tired of the both of you hiding it, constantly exchanging looks with Sprite every time you showed affection towards Druig and, in his head, faking it for them. When you were about to seat up with the help of the mind controller hands. Kingo got up suddenly before you and yelled, very offended "So you two were planning on telling us when?"

You look at your lover shooting him a very confused gaze and he gives you a shrug and a frown, showing he also had no idea what was the subject in question, witch is what you decided to say. "What are you talking about?"

"ABOUT THE TWO OF YOU!" he says pointing his finger at you intertwined hands with your partner. Okay, now you were confused.

"About us?? You do know we're together, Kingo. You were literally at our marriage. 'the hell are you talking about?"

"YES. AT. THE. MARRIAGE. I WAS THERE. AND YOU TWO WERE NOT GOING TO TELL US ABOUT YOUR DIVORCE?" he yells and you look your other friends looking for answers, but for your surprise, they were all agreeing with him.

You look at Druig and start laughing. "What kind of joke is this?" you say unable to control your laugh and almost out of breath.

"Us," Druig points at you and him repeatedly "getting a divorce" he even leans on you now to support himself, the laugh also getting the air out of him.

You stop once you see the two of you were the only ones who where laughing. Now with the two of you in silence, you hear Sersi's voice. "Wait, so you two are not getting divorced?"

"Of course not, why on earth would we do that?" You ask her "And if I was, witch I'm not, you really thought I would do this without talking to you first" you sign to Makkari while verbalising it to Sersi. They both shrug, embarrassed. "Unbelievable, the two of you, unbelievable"

"Why did you think we were getting divorced, anyways?" you hear now the lovely accent of your partner behind you say while he places his hands on your waist, as someone who's reassuring everyone in the room you're still his.

"Well, I heard you say it" Kingo reveals waiting for the both of you to be shocked. You just laugh again.

"Kingo, have you ever heard of privacy? We were playing a video game, that's all, man." Druig shoots him a disapproval glance. "And also," before Kingo answers to him, he's now turned towards Ikaris "was that a sad look on your face when you thought y/n and I were breaking up?" Ikaris blushed

"No, it was not"

"Sure thing sweetie," now it was Sersi's turn to speak as she cupped the face of her husband. "let's pretend you didn't just asked me at dinner 'what would be of our double dates now?'" she air quoted his words while the eternals now turned their attention to him to make fun out of it.

"That's adorable, Ikaris" you mock while hugging your husband and looking at your family gathered at the table laughing at Ikaris. It may not be true you two were parting, but heavens did it feel good to see how much every single one of those cared about the two of you that much. You look at Druig cupping his face with your small hands and smile at him. "I love you, handsome."

"Love you more, my beautiful"

angsty eternals scenarios

warnings: heavy heavy angst, main character (reader) death and spoilers

characters: thena, ikarus, druig, gilgamesh, kingo, sersi and makkari

thena leaving you because she's scared that she'll hurt you, but she just can't cope with completely leaving your life, so she watches over you for the rest of it. she watches you move on and fall in love all over again, wishing it were her. she never lost that love for you and she likes to think that you never lost it for her either, but she'll never know. she missed her chance.

ikarus' last wish to sersi being to watch over you and break the news gently of his death. he can't bear the thought of you being alone and he knows how much the greif will affect you, but he hopes someone like sersi will be your new rock in life and help you through the situation. his last words being a shaky "thank you" as sersi vows to fulfil his wish

druig loosing you on a mission so he locks himself away and mourns you alone, everyone tries to help and get through to him, but no one is successful, not even makkari. for a very long time all he can do is think about you and blame himself for your loss. when he eventually starts letting down his walls, everyone tries their absolute best to comfort him, but the terrifying images from his nightmares overpower their words.

you leaving gilgamesh because he's too wrapped up in missions, he feels as if he has no right to fight back and try to win your heart again because you're completely right and justified, but he can't do anything about it because he's forced to put being an eternals first, no matter how much he wants you to be his number one priority. even after a year, he still accidentally lays a place for you in the table and makes your favourite drinks to just sit on the side, untouched, hoping one day you'll come back and drink the entire glass again, with a small smile and a blissful expression on yohr face.

kingo loving you from afar, his love probably unrequited, but he's too scared and hesitant to find out. he sticks with you through thick and thin. the shame seeping through his veins causing hom to always kick himself, longing for a future that was always too far out of his reach

sersi leaving all sorts of hand written notes, including poems, letters, and stories based on your relationship, behind for the scenario that she doesn't return. she instructs every single eternal to make sure that you get them, no matter the cost. she just cannot bear the thought of not being able to say goodbye on her own terms. she cries everytime while writing them, but it's better than imagining the pain you'd go through if your beloved didn't say goodbye

you being put at risk because makkari is an eternal, so she tearfully breaks the news to you that you can't be together anymore because she's too scared for your safety, you cry in eachother's arms for hours and say your final goodbyes, neither of you wanting to let go of the other's hand. sue promises she'll visit from time to time, but she never does, or at least not that you know of. she's saved you from harm on four seperate occasions, the sudden blur flashing past the corner of your eye going unnoticed all times except for one. but that's all makkari could be to you anymore, an unnoticed rush of motion in the corner of your eye

I watched eternals and ok I have THOUGHTS so I’m putting it here and I’m in a cab frantically typing this so it’s basically unfiltered thoughts kay thanks

- it’s different. It got a very obvious mainstream look. It is still a high budget, heavy CGI or like “comic book hero’s” movie but the more I think about it, the less I find a movie from the last few movies in the MCU to compare it to. So, it’s still very super hero movie, just not like the MCU.

- it’s felt a bit like watching Captain America Civil War. We know all of them, and we know they’ve interacted with each other.

- Something felt incomplete, I think it’s the limited amount we know about each of the eternals on their own? But it’s not really a problem

- seeing Kit Harrington and Richard Madden interact, with a sersi involved? The GoT/SOIAF fan in my has died. KINGS OF THE NORTH BABY!!!

SPOILERS-ish AHEAD

- Ikaris’s storyline was somewhat unpredictable, but also if the fate of his character is sealed, I just need to see what they do.

He’s also hilarious and Richard Madden has wonderful comedic timing

Also, seeing a super hero cry. Shed tears. Kill him self because he loves Sersi too much to kill her, but I’m not killing her is going against everything he believes in? I love Ikaris he is my favourite idiot boy.

- as a desi, everything about Kingo just… worked. PROPER HINDI BEING SPOKEN HAS SAVED ME AND I DONT EVEN LIKE HINDI!!!??? & THE dance sequence, the BHARATNATAYAM?? 12 year old me would learn that choreography in 5 min flat. 22 year old me will need an hour but I know I can do it.

- Sprite is such a fucking mood. Her relationship with Dane??? With Kingo?? Kingo and Dane need to meet now too, properly.

The illusions

Also when Kingo said he worked in the movies because he missed Sprite’s story telling

- Thena, my moon and stars and my favourite goddess of war. I want to hug u and hold ur hand and kiss ur knuckles baby you are loved. She can do no wrong and will do no wrong

- GILGAMESH DESERVES BETTER. I’ve concluded that Gilgamesh is a fun house husband who would make the best dad jokes. Also thena and Gil are my only OTP from the eternals. When he dies, the fkn crying.

- When Thena killed the Deviant, everyone in the room felt so much fkn relief. She’s so cool

- I really love Gilgamesh and thena so much. On their own and together

- Salma Hayek did such a WONDERFUL job, the mothering and the nurturing. GOD

- PHASTOS!!! Hilarious & romantic and a good father!! Dude just seeing him KISS A MAN on the big screen?? A MAN OF COLOUR!! GAY MEN KISS IS A MARVEL FILM GODDAMN IT. and the way he talks about his HUSBAND BEN? Wonderful. This is essentially the exchange between him and other eternals

“They remind me that there’s good left”

- Druig is a himbo I think. I like him. If I could control the minds of people, I too would contemplate taking over humanity to get rid of greed and violence etc etc

- Makkari and Druig are cute. I want more Makkari content because She is so fun. She is every quirky incorrect Marvel quote but in actuality. Also something about her signing her words brings in so much personality to her whole character

- HARRY STYLES IS EROS CONFIRMED

- MY BABY MANS DANE WHITMORE IS BACK

Overall? Imma need to watch it again to decide how much I love it but it’s a 3/5.

got the idea of sprite and kingo sneaking into gils room at night because of a recipe or something and they don't know thena is sleeping there too watching them and in the end thena scares the shit out of them

"Shut up!"

"I wasn't saying anything!" Kingo whispered back to his very cranky sister as they continued down the hall.

"You're doing this," she hissed at him, waving her arms around. "Cut it out."

"Hey, I'm just being ready for a fight," he argued in his own defense. "You never know who might be wandering around."

"Relax dude," Sprite rolled her eyes, although she wasn't moving much faster than Kingo at this point. "Ikaris is on watch, and I haven't seen Thena since dinner."

"Right," Kingo sighed, shuffling along with their grey robes swaying gently around them. "It was probably a long day for her. With any luck she'll actually be asleep."

Sprite grinned, "and Gil made her favourite. You know how his food knocks her right out."

It was true, dinner had been hearty and filling, even Thena having more than one serving. Although maybe that had more to do with Gil eagerly refilling her bowl before she could even ask.

Kingo exhaled as they finally arrived at the door they were after. It was identical to all the others, but this one surely had the recipe they were after. "Ready?"

Sprite merely rolled her eyes at him, engaging the door and holding her breath as it slid open silently. They walked through and she idly left an illusion of it in the empty doorway (just in case they needed a quick escape).

"Hm," Kingo noted gently as they walked into Gil's room. It was identical to all their personal quarters: small and underwhelming. He turned to Sprite, "if there were less of us do you think we'd get bigger rooms?"

"No, there'd just be more room for ship stuff," she whispered back as they took in the books Gil had accumulated. They mostly seemed to be journals, probably about food--maybe some booze recipes.

Everyone had their own personal affects, even as eternal beings who had no need for physical keepsakes of life. Sersi was actually the most notorious for it, with her little human trinkets. Druig had the occasional thing that Makkari would give him from her own covetous stash of stolen goods.

Kingo and Sprite jumped slightly as Gil grunted and adjusted in the bed. They both looked, checking to see if he was still asleep, and froze.

Thena was sleeping with him, her forehead pressed to his chest, her arms pinned close. One of her hands was slipping into the collar of his robes to touch the side of his neck!

Kingo eyed Sprite, lowering his voice to an even quieter whisper, "what do we do?"

Sprite pressed her finger to her lips with a glare.

Kingo made a face. What do we do?!

I don't know! Sprite signed back, also frozen on the spot in the face of the great predator. If they woke her, it would be trouble enough, and that was outside of what she would do if she knew they were trying to pilfer something from poor Gil.

Kingo pointed to the book in Sprite's hand, leave it. Time to bail.

Sprite shook her head, beginning the process of tiptoeing out of the room. They had gotten what they came for, there was no abandoning it now.

Kingo followed suit, never taking his eyes off the bed with the Strongest and Warrior Eternal in it. It was kind of gross, but also kind of cute, seeing them all cuddled up. They got pretty small beds for their quarters, so it made sense that they were practically on top of one another.

Sprite turned within the threshold of her illusion and waved her hand for him to hurry up.

"Leave it."

Both Eternals flinched. Kingo straightened, hiding his hands behind his back.

"Save it," Thena murmured from the cocoon of Gilgamesh's arms. There were no signs that she was awake other than her clear and sharp speech. "I was awake as soon as the door opened."

They should have known. Sprite and Kingo traded a defeated look between them. Their mission was always doomed. "We didn't-"

"Out."

"Right, right," Kingo sighed, tiptoeing a little more quickly the rest of the way out. "Sorry, T."

"Put the recipe back."

Sprite rolled her eyes at her bossy sister but slumped back into the room to do just that. "Snitch."

"If you so desire it, ask him," Thena argued, still frighteningly still whether asleep or awake. She added, "nicely."

Sprite flipped her middle finger at Thena, but her eyes were still closed. If anything, Gil tightened his arms around her, pulling the blonde closer and nestling his head in a better position against hers. Sprite made a silent face of gagging.

Kingo rolled his eyes, "come on, Sprite. We've been caught fair and square."

Sprite huffed but joined him in the hall again. Of course he would take Thena's side. And she did have to admit, she had never seen Thena actually...relaxed, like this. Sprite dispelled her illusion, preparing to close the door again.

"Who was that?"

"No one," Thena whispered back to Gil, whose voice was bleary and faint. She paused, and the distinct sound of lips on lips was heard, "go back to sleep."

Sprite's eyes went wide. She made half a step to go back inside and see for herself what was happening, but Kingo caught the neck of her robes and dragged her away kicking and whispering. "Dude! That's-"

"Really going to get us killed?--I agree," he hissed at her, dragging her off and away from their sister and her lover.

Drukkari + physical touch headcanons because I’m bored and touch starved :)))

Druig traces things on Makkari’s back!! Whenever they’re just in a peaceful, relaxed state he’ll trace little drawings on her back or arms and she guesses at what he’s drawing. And they both do it, taking turns and seeing who can guess the most right. But the competitiveness isn’t the main part of it. It’s just that they get to have that little bit of physical contact that’s soothing.

That’s also how he tells her he loves her for the first time: by tracing out the letters on the fabric of her clothing

I’m sorry but the story about Chloe Zhao constantly fixing Barry’s bangs on set is too good so this is now canon: Makkari ruffles Druig’s bangs whenever she’s trying to goof around with him

Apart from Makkari, Sersi is Druig’s favourite (meaning the one he finds easiest to tolerate) so he brings her in on the secret when he decides to propose to Makkari

They play footsies under every single dinner table they sit at— and not leisurely either, like they’re smiling adoringly at each other the whole time but still, it gets COMPETITIVE. So much so the table rattles and all of the other Eternals hate it

Druig and Makkari are not overtly affectionate when they’re around people but when they do feel the urge to be physically affectionate, Thena is surprisingly the one they feel most comfortable doing it around. Kingo and Phastos roll their eyes or pretend to barf, Sprite’s a human and she doesn’t keep in touch, and they always feel the slightest bit guilty about doing anything in front of Sersi because of what happened with her and Ikaris (and then her and Dane too). But Thena? Thena does not give a flying fuck about what they do and is super chill about any PDA they do (which is not a lot and very subtle if at all

I like to think that Eros at some point on the Domo calls Makkari beautiful (not just Thena) and Druig isn’t the possessive type but he is DEFINITELY jealous at that so he just puts his hand on the small of Makkari’s back

Makkari likes speeding places and sometimes gets restless walking but when they absolutely HAVE to walk, Druig offers her piggybacks

Speculation on the Eternals team dynamics:

Sersi the Kind. the heart of the team, the peacemaker, the caretaker. everyone loves her and she loves everyone

Ikaris the Bold (Ikaris the Brave). the strongest fighter they have, the one who leads the charge into battle every time, with no sense of self-preservation whatsoever.

Ajak, the Healing Hands. the team leader and main decision maker, the mother, the one who patches everyone up after they come home from a fight, who soothes their hurts and calls them 'my dear' and 'cariño'/'mi querida'

Phastos the Builder. the dad figure to all the younger Eternals. the one they go to whenever they need a magical device constructed, or a hug and some life (love?) advice. long-suffering but cares about every member of the team so much

Gilgamesh the Strong. the giant who's the team's strength and protection, who can be so gentle when he chooses to.

Thena, the Goddess of War, Thena the Wise. the reserved strategist and the maker of weapons. together with Gilgamesh, form the brawn of the team. they have an old married couple dynamic that comes of having been friends for millennia, and have excellent cohesion and teamwork in battle.

Sprite the Nimble. nimble in body - dainty little spells and charms, and delicate and slight in figure. nimble in mind - she's the snarky little sibling of the team, always coming up with quippy remarks and witty clapbacks. ikaris has a soft spot for her, and he's secretly her favourite older brother. she pretends to hate it when he talks to her like a kid sister and calls her 'little fairy' (cause, you know, a sprite) but actually loves it

Makkari Light-Foot. the speedster. together with Sprite, she keeps the atmosphere light and diffuses tensions, with her comedy mostly being conveyed through facial expressions and suggestive hand gestures. has terrible taste in men but everyone tries hard to respect that until her boyfriend goes around mind-controlling people. fiercely loyal and protective of her teammates.

Druig the Sullen. doesn't approve of the Eternals' methods, only sticks around for Makkari. loves her very much but hates that she stands by the others. hates Kingo and doesn't get along well with Ikaris. later has immense conflict with the others, leading to them having to capture him to stop his mind controlling rampage

Kingo the Charismatic. resident narcissist and fashion icon. ever the celebrity, always concerned about his image and appearance. will tell anyone who is willing to listen about his entire acting career and the things he's worn to the Met Galas over the years

All Too Well - Chapter Six

A/N: This is my favourite chapter. For good reason. Enjoy it.

Chapter Six

By the late evening, festivities were underway. It was only right for stories to be recalled as anecdotes after such a strange few days. You hated to admit it, but after so long without your fellow Eternals, it was nice to be around them like this.

You’d always enjoyed their grand parties before, the after battle libations and celebrations. They’d been in short supply over the past thousand years, but now—sat around a table with your family, jogging memories of the past and actually talking to each other was a welcomed change to what you’d used to encounter.

You were all the same age, but your looks definitely proved that to be subjective. Sprite got it the worst, that was for certain. With the looks of a child, but the mind of someone much more ancient, you couldn’t imagine the struggle it’d been.

She seemed to take the jokes well.

“At Gil’s, he didn’t even give her alcohol,” Kingo quipped, sparking chuckles around the table.

“It’s not like any of us can get drunk, anyway,” Sprite said bitterly, sipping at a beer. You sent her an amused smile.

“Still fun, though,” Kingo began. “Being alongside drunk humans is always an adventure. You know, it’s somewhat of an aphrodisiac,”

The table went quiet immediately, but smug smiles were littered everywhere. You were trying everything within your power not to broadcast the word sex in your mind when Druig was sat right next to you.

Phastos coughed awkwardly, prompting Kingo to slam his glass on the table. “Oh, come on, people. Eight thousand years and we can’t talk about sex?”

“We’re all more than capable, Kingo,” you spoke up, taking a sip of your drink. “Maybe certain things should go unsaid,” Kingo huffed immediately, sending you wide eyes with raised brows.

“Well, maybe that’s just you,” he hit back with, and you knew exactly what he was thinking without needing Druig’s power. You opened your mouth slowly, trying to find the words, as your gaze skimmed the other entertained Eternals.

You turned to Druig. “Is he...?”

“Calling you a virgin? Yes, he is,” Druig smirked, and the table erupted into giggles. Ikaris almost spat his drink out, prompting Sprite to grab a handful of napkins. Sersi was holding in her laughter, her cheeks red from beer. Phastos was biting down on his tongue and Thena pursed her lips in amusement, but the open faces of Kingo and Druig lit a fire in your gut.

It’s like we’ve just been born, Arishem.

You turned back to Kingo, tongue tied but raging. “Kingo—,”

“Oh, come on! I’m just teasing, I don’t actually believe that,” he tried to defend himself.

“He’s lying,” Druig said immediately, swilling his drink in amusement.

“Kingo!” you snapped. He raised his hands in defence.

“Hey! Hey—I’m sorry. It’s just, you’ve always come across so sweet and naïve,” you sent him a death stare. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry,”

“Unbelievable,” you muttered.

“Look, even goody-two-shoes’ Sersi and Ikaris did it in the dirt—,”

“Kingo,” Ikaris warned.

“Hey!” Sersi yelled simultaneously.

“Did it? What are you, twelve?” you said, scowling, but you couldn’t deny you were finding the entire ordeal funny. “You all believe this?” you asked suddenly, looking round at the red faces of your fellows. “You all believe I haven’t? After eight thousand years?” you hated that word.

Their sudden silence was enough of an answer.

You stood abruptly. “You assholes!” you yelled, slamming your hands down on the table. Their laughter was probably the best sound you’d ever heard. The real kind—the kind that made your chest tight and your breath stutter, the pain of trying to hold it in, only to have it pour out in cackles and waves and redness.

You smiled down at them all, laughing alongside them despite you being the brunt of the joke. The only person not laughing—

Druig.

“Druig’s not laughing,” Phastos said quickly, pointing to the Eternal in question. Druig raised his beer to his lips mysteriously.

“Don’t bring me into this,” Druig protested, shooting a smirk at Phastos.

“You brought yourself into this well before now, pretty boy,” Phastos explained. You finally sat down, tucking your chair in questioningly.

“What do you mean?” you urged.

“Phastos is right,” Sprite said mischievously. “How do you think we found you in New York?”

Your heart dropped suddenly, but not badly—you were intrigued.

“You Eternals and your blabbering mouths,” Druig said, leaning forward and running a hand through his hair. His face was still unbothered, but you could feel the tension coming off him in waves. “So trivial,” he turned to you, sending you an intimate stare.

“We came to Druig after Sersi and I realised you left London,” Sprite continued, talking only to you. Druig let her speak, not trying to stop her, as if he’d accepted that this was going to be told to you at some point.

“What’s your point, Sprite?” you said flatly.

“You really think it’d be that easy to find you without Druig?” Sprite said with a smile. You sent a questioning stare at Druig, asking for confirmation. He raised his hands up lazily.

“Guilty,” he said forwardly. “Your thoughts are like a beacon to me. I could find you anywhere in the universe,”

“Couldn’t have said no to finding you even if he’d tried, either,” Ikaris chimed in lowly.

“Now now, Ikaris,” Druig said in warning. “Don’t forget I can spill your darkest secrets, right here, right now,” Ikaris’s jaw clenched.

“Can you also spill whether or not she’s a virgin, too—,” Kingo interrupted.

“Kingo!” you screeched, whacking him around the head.

“Proof or it never happened!” he joked back, fighting against your slaps.

All tension was resolved back to normal, despite the way Ikaris’s stare lingered on Druig’s for just a tad too long. It was covered by the laughter though, and by the smiles and subtle mutterings of your family.

You downed the rest of your beer as Druig sat back in his chair. His eyes immediately found yours. In your mind, a wall was erected. There was part of you that didn’t want him to know what you’d done, but part of you that wanted to see the satisfaction on Kingo’s face wiped away.

Who cares. We all know each other.

“Evidence? Fine,” you said, with a finality that made Kingo almost freeze. You kept your gaze on Druig. “Druig, just this once, I give you permission,”

“What?” he perked up, sitting up straight in his chair and widening his eyes.

“I give you permission to rifle around my mind,” you said plainly.

“You gotta be jokin’,” he let out breathily, alongside a few chuckles.

“I’m not,” you confirmed.

Phastos leaned into Sersi’s ear. “I’ve never seen him this excited,” he whispered to her, but it wasn’t exactly a quiet transaction. Sprite’s giggles echoed Phastos’ words, and Druig took the comment on the chin. Perhaps, his cheeks rouged just the tiniest bit.

“You wanted evidence, Kingo,” you reiterated. “Druig can get it,”

A calculating silence followed your statement. You were secure in your decision, and the wandering gazes of the Eternals showed their curiosity as well, now that Kingo had brought it up.

“You men and your wilds, just like children,” Thena mused, cutting through the silence, but there was a glint in her eye. “But still—I’d quite like to know,”

“See?” Kingo said, prompting nods of approval from Sprite and Phastos in Druig’s direction.

“Collectively, we have the power to potentially take down a Celestial, but you all want me to look into her mind to see whether or not she’s shagged someone?” Druig asked for confirmation. You almost laughed. Kingo was the first to nod.

“Absolutely,”

“Yeah,” Phastos joined in.

Druig turned to you then, sending you a soft look. He angled his face down, as if to ask are you sure?

I’m secure in myself now, Druig, you thought.

He nodded in response. “Fine,” he said lowly.

You waited for the feeling of his fingers filing through your thoughts. You waited for the sensation of another, rifling through your every thought and quip and memory—waited for him to let himself into your skull and close the door behind him.

But he never did.

The silence was deafening once more; Eternals were slipping on the edge of their seats. You only had eyes for him though, as he paused for dramatic effect, as he lied to a room full of the oldest people on this planet.

“No,” he said softly, croaking out the words gently and swallowing down a feeling in his gut. “She’s not a damn virgin,”

“I knew it,” Sprite said with crossed arms. “Sweet and naïve my ass, Kingo,”

“I stand corrected,” he admitted, sitting back in his chair and finally dropping the subject.

Only yourself and Druig knew that he hadn’t looked though. You were having a silent conversation with him then, as everyone else went back to different conversations. His eyes were scanning your entire face, your cheeks, your nose, your lips.

You liar.

He tipped his head to the side, sending a smirk your way. “Didn’t need to see it to believe it,” he whispered. “Didn’t want to, either,”

You sent him a quizzical look. “Why?” you whispered back.

He let out a long breath, smiling to himself. He shrugged. “Rather see it in person,”

Your heart skipped. Druig stood, picking up his glass. “Who needs a refill?” he asked, leaving you sat there; speechless; and maybe—

A tad turned on.

Review of The Eternals | SPOILERS |

THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS BELOW - Go watch this film!!!!

The Main Characters | 10/10

The main characters are obviously, as the title would suggests, the eternals:

- Ikaris: Ikaris is the strongest Eternal, which works well for his character. Which is arrogant, hard-headed and what you would expect from a man who thinks he is unbeatable. But he isn't the full stereotypical character you would expect. He allows himself to show emotion, and even cry in remorse, throughout the film which shows that he is well rounded and, arguably, human-like. His love for Sersi is his biggest strength and his greatest weakness.

- Sersi: Sersi is the newfound leader of the Eternals after Ajax's demise. Gemma Chan plays her beautifully, she is strong, smart, and respectful: all qualities of a great leader. Throughout the film we see her build her powers and strengths to achieve what she thought was impossible and take on challenges that she thought that she could never achieve. Her love for Ikaris isn't one of her defining traits which is refreshing to see in film.

- Ajax: Ajax was once the leader of the Eternals. We only see her character through flashbacks. We don't learn much about her, but he does know that she is trusting to a fault, which leads to Ikaris murdering her, and that she is secretive to her teammates. She was made to be a leader and that is what she excels at.

- Thena: Thena is played by Angelina Jolie, and she plays the role excellently. We see Thena maddened by her own memories by instead of her being tossed aside like so many other characters may have been in other films, we see her taken care of by the Eternals, more specifically Gilgamesh. Even after she is maddened, she is still one fo the strongest fighters, especially after she learns she was never insane but rather held knowledge she was never meant to know.

- Gilgamesh: Gilgamesh is the second of the Eternals to die, and his death is heart-breaking as he dies saving one of the people he loved: Thena. He is kind, warm and loving, stereotypical feminine traits but he isn't those things ironically and they do not take away from the fact that Gilgamesh is an amazing fighter.

- Sprite: Sprite is the youngest Eternal and my personal favourite as we see her burdened by her youngest and eventually set free from her immortality so she can be human and grow old and have a family, something she had always wished for with Ikaris, even if he didn't return those feelings. Sprite is one of the comic-reliefs of the film, along with Kingo, but it isn't a defining trait which makes Sprite, like every other character, very well rounded.

- Makkari: Makkari is the first (and I saw first because Hawkeye, although deaf in the comics, hasn't been comfier deaf in the MCU, much to mine, and many others dismay) deaf character in the MCU and it isn't one of her defining traits. She also a funny, quick witted and kind character. She is the second speedster we have seen in the MCU, yet she is nothing like Pietro Maximoff. She is very defined in her own right.

- Druig:- Druig: Druig is one morally grey Eternals. He has the ability of mind control and uses that it to both help, and hinder, the human race. He is also the love interest of Makkari, although we don't see him explore his feelings beyond anything somewhat romantic (but nothing explicitly mentioned like Sersi and Ikaris), his love for Makkari is, like Ikaris his on of his biggest strengths which I hope to explore in a later film.

- Kingo: Kingo, like Sprite, is one of the comic-reliefs o the film and it is one of his defining traits. I don’t think this is a bad thing as it is part of his character. Kingo isn't comically all the time which shows, like every other Eternal, he is a well-wounded character. He has a moment of doubt of what will happen, but he carries on which shows his strength and his determination.

Overall, these characters work well together, and all have different strengths and weakness. They all have a rapport with each other which resembles one of a family, because that is what they are in their own way: a family. They all have different relationships which each other such as Ikaris and Sersi & Druig and Makkari having a romantic relationship and semi-romantic relationship respectively whilst Ajax has a parental bond with all the Eternals. These relationships between each character is the best thing in the film.

The Plot | 8/10

The Eternals synopsis, according to google.com: The Eternals, a race of immortal beings with superhuman powers who have secretly lived on Earth for thousands of years, reunite to battle the evil Deviants.

The Credit Scenes | 10/10

There are two credit scenes in Eternals:

The first one reveals Harry Styles to be Eros, or Starfox, the brother of Thanos (who as we know killed half the universe). Eros offers the Eternals his help in finding their other Eternals which were taken by Arishem after they betrayed his plan.

The second one shows Dane Whitman (who will become Black Knight) to be looking a sword when a voice speaks to him. This voice was said to be Mahershala Ali by Chloé Zhao who directed the film. Mahershala Ali. is going to be playing Blade in an upcoming MCU film which is said to be released on October 7, 2022.

Overall | 8.75/10

This film defines found family. The rapport between the characters is amazing, and if anything, you should watch the film for the rapport alone.

It’s one of the most beautiful film I’ve seen in a while. The CGI is impeccable and just visually alone it is a good watch.

I would highly recommend that you go see this film as it builds for the future of the MCU

Also that any avid marvel fans to go watch this but anyone else too. It’s excellent and it establishes itself without much needed from the other MCU properties.

This film is great and most certainly worth a watch <3

Okay so, thoughts on Eternals:

SPOILERS UNDER CUT

I loved the family dynamic they all seemed to have with one another. The teasing, Ajak’s mom energy, it was everything to me

DANEEEE. When I found out he was going to be in the film I was so excited, little bit upset at the lack of screen time he got but I understand why since he isn’t one of the Eternals and his role was mainly introducing him into the MCU. Really excited to see where he goes as Black Knight tho

Makkari, Druig and Thena were hands down my favourites. Love them

GILGAMESH’S DEATH. I had a feeling it was coming because of the lack of footage of him there was in the trailers but it hit harder than I expected it to.

Felt like Ajak was gonna die for pretty much the same reason

Sersi and Ikaris’ relationship was a bit meh for me. Didn’t really see the point of it other than to cause Sersi issues when he showed back up in her life after a couple centuries

Ikaris’ betrayal came as a shock to me. As someone who read some of the comics before seeing the film I was expecting Druig to betray them if anything

Also Ikaris flying into the sun had me dying

Kingo and Karun were so funny omfg. Loved how even though Kingo thought the emergence should happen he was unwilling to harm the rest of them. Also where tf were all Karun’s cameras coming from?

Drukkari is my new otp

Loved the little bit with Phastos and his family. Gives me hope for when the Young Avengers inevitably show up

Arishem was fucking terrifying, especially at the end

Speaking of the end, I’m so fucking excited for a sequel after that cliffhanger. Omfg I have so many thoughts and theories that I might post but I am very excited

Sprite’s character was a bit meh as well. Her decision at the end seemed a bit sudden. It’s probably so that they can still use the character as the actor ages but maybe if they’d at least hinted at it a few times throughout the film it would’ve seemed a bit less out of nowhere.

Deviants were pretty weak antagonists ngl and it was kinda a waste that they killed off Kro immediately

Also I doubt the three Eternals who died are really dead or will be dead for long but I’ll probably talk about that in a different post

The Post Credit Scene. I bet that Makkari, Druig, Thena and probably Eros will be the main characters in a sequel based off of that and I am all for it. Harry Styles casting confused me a little at first but the more I think about it the more it kinda makes sense
