Reminder that I need to hear so hopefully other aros benefit too:

You can be aro and still enjoy consuming romantic content. You can be aromantic and still get immense joy from shipping characters. You can be aromatic and maybe want a relationship with romantic elements one day, or unsure exactly what you want, with no deep desire to date and figure it out immediately. It is a spectrum of little to no romantic attraction, and we are valid regardless of where we fall on that spectrum. You are not fake or a poser, you are just a human being using language to better understand and describe your experience. If aromantic is a term that resonates for you, that’s enough. You are valid.

#I've been so giddy lately #actually no clue what giddy means but it feels like a nice word #im literally trembling with stress sometimes and school is killing me #but i wake up in the morning. take a shower. brush my teeth and get nice NICE comfy clothes #and i make breakfast and make my bed #and feed gato and help mom and start the day on time #and enjoy speaking in class and proposing stuff #and every day i have to have lunch in a hurry so i can come home and feed gato and brush my teeth and go back to class #and its awful but i still do it cause i love gato #and i spend some time with friends and maybe i eat a little dessert cause i deserve it #and i do my homework and have dinner and organize the house a bit #and brush my teeth. play with gato. put on pajamas #maybe text some friends and read some fanfics #and i go to sleep and i sleep well even if gato wakes me up at 2am #and im just #living #and i wake up the next day and realize. i couldn't have done this a year ago #and every day i wake up is amazing cause i got so close to giving up #im very glad im still alive #love mom and gato and this small corner of the internet and my friends #and i love myself #couldn't have done this without me #god im crying aksjdjdjdjsk #lukkas rambling nonsense #They said 'TrAnsiTiOniNg DoEsnT CuRE dePreSsIon'#AND IT DOESN'T but GOD DOES IT HELP

because sometimes there are invisible tests and invisible rules and you're just supposed to ... know the rule. someone you thought of as a friend asks you for book recommendations, so you give her a list of like 30 books, each with a brief blurb and why you like it. later, you find out she screenshotted the list and send it out to a group chat with the note: what an absolute freak can you believe this. you saw the responses: emojis where people are rolling over laughing. too much and obsessive and actually kind of creepy in the comments. you thought you'd been doing the right thing. she'd asked, right? an invisible rule: this is what happens when you get too excited.

you aren't supposed to laugh at your own jokes, so you don't, but then you're too serious. you're not supposed to be too loud, but then people say you're too quiet. you aren't supposed to get passionate about things, but then you're shy, boring. you aren't supposed to talk too much, but then people are mad when you're not good at replying.

you fold yourself into a prettier paper crane. since you never know what is "selfish" and what is "charity," you give yourself over, fully. you'd rather be empty and over-generous - you'd rather eat your own boundaries than have even one person believe that you're mean. since you don't know what the thing is that will make them hate you, you simply scrub yourself clean of any form of roughness. if you are perfect and smiling and funny, they can love you. if you are always there for them and never admit what's happening and never mention your past and never make them uncomfortable - you can make up for it. you can earn it.

don't fuck up. they're all testing you, always. they're tolerating you. whatever secret club happened, over a summer somewhere - during some activity you didn't get to attend - everyone else just... figured it out. like they got some kind of award or examination that allowed them to know how-to-be-normal. how to fit. and for the rest of your life, you've been playing catch-up. you've been trying to prove that - haha! you get it! that the joke they're telling, the people they are, the manual they got- yeah, you've totally read it.

if you can just divide yourself in two - the lovable one, and the one that is you - you can do this. you can walk the line. they can laugh and accept you. if you are always-balanced, never burdensome, a delight to have in class, champagne and glittering and never gawky or florescent or god-forbid cringe: you can get away with it.

you stare at your therapist, whom you can make jokes with, and who laughs at your jokes, because you are so fucking good at people-pleasing. you smile at her, and she asks you how you're doing, and you automatically say i'm good, thanks, how are you? while the answer swims somewhere in your little lizard brain:

how long have you been doing this now? mastering the art of your body and mind like you're piloting a puppet. has it worked? what do you mean that all you feel is... just exhausted. pick yourself up, the tightrope has no net. after all, you're cheating, somehow, but nobody seems to know you actually flunked the test. it's working!

so my apartment building got a notice board to post fire alarm tests and maintenance announcements and such. the building is pretty well-maintained, so we rarely get notices. the board is big and grey and to think it would be empty like that 99% of the time was a bland boring sin i just couldn't bear, so i vandalized the corner of its empty canvas with a teeny tiny Guy

and within a few days, there was a sudden addition from my one of my neighbors along with a Bunch of thumbtacks. this was an unexpected, but welcome surprise!

well there was still so much space, i figured i'd add another crumb to the art hoard. i'd been playing genshin that day so i drew my favorite grandpa

and like clockwork, new art manifested!! this person is gonna grow to be a great artist i know it. the detail in those stones? hell yeah that's cool.

we're two weeks into it. more neighbors have joined in with their artwork. who knew there were so many artists in my building?? we're onto somethin great here i just know it.

I am simultaneously deliriously in love with the ending of Loki season 2 and absolutely loathe it

On one hand…Shakespearean tragedy at its finest, essentially circling back to Loki’s original Thor 2011 character arc by reversing it, and Loki has literally ascended to godhood. In the end, Loki’s ultimate selfless sacrifice was to sit upon the highest throne in the multiverse, and that to me is tragically ironically beautiful

On the other hand…Loki being alone makes me want to burn Marvel studios to the ground and do other unspeakable things

bitch literally not that long ago an aroace youtuber animator was insulted by almost half of its community for being it
