“You Act White”
When Black people display their intelligence they are NOT imitating Whiteness because intelligence is not an inherently White trait. Black excellence is real and has nothing to do with White proximity.
For the people in the back: intelligence is NOT a racial indicator, NOT cultural appropriation, and does NOT have racial significance.

Black history: Did you know?
Phillis Wheatley was only 12 when she became the first female African American author published.
Despite Phyllis Wheatley’s fame, we know surprisingly little about her early life. She was taken from her home in Africa when she was seven or eight, and sold to the Wheatley family in Boston. The family taught her to read and write, and encouraged her to write poetry as soon as they witnessed her talent for it. In 1773, Phyllis published her first poem, making her the first African American to be published. She was only 12 at the time.

In the 1940s, Billie Holiday (#Bi2) faced segregation firsthand while touring the United States. During one particular tour stop in the South, she arrived at a hotel where she was scheduled to perform, only to be turned away because of her race. Undeterred, Holiday refused to let discrimination silence her voice.
Instead of succumbing to defeat, she staged an impromptu concert right on the sidewalk outside the hotel. Gathering her band and a crowd of supporters, Holiday delivered a captivating performance under the stars, defying the oppressive racial barriers that sought to confine her.
Her courageous act not only showcased her resilience in the face of discrimination but also served as a powerful statement against the injustices of segregation. Through her music and actions, Billie Holiday challenged the status quo, leaving an indelible mark on both the history of jazz and the ongoing struggle for equality. #BlackHistoryMonth

I wanna address an issue that I see A LOT!
People think that "Blackwashing" is real.
Let me tell you something....
IT'S NOT!!
Let me explain why.
I know the term blackwashing is inspired by the term whitewashed.
Now let me tell you what whitewashing is.
The cleansing of an item, like clothes or a cloth, or the censoring of a race, culture, or ethnic group.
Whitewashing and blackwashing are not the same.
Your so-called "blackwashing" is not censoring anything, but instead making another version of a character as blasian or of African decent.
This is another form of making an AU, which everyone seems to love so much.
I'd love to hear the statements that people make, trying to tell me why I'm wrong.
Please, go ahead, I don't bite. I promise ☺️

Black History Month: Did you know?
The three-light traffic signal was invented by a Black man named Garrett Morgan.
Garrett Morgan had only an elementary school education and was the son of a formerly enslaved man. Nevertheless, Morgan surmounted these difficulties and is responsible for many important inventions. Most notably, Morgan invented the three-light traffic signal in 1923.
While driving one day, Morgan witnessed a serious car crash at an intersection. This sparked his idea to add a third light to the traffic signal which would warn drivers of an impending red light. His patent was granted in 1924, and after early installments of the three-light traffic signal were successful, they spread throughout the country and became the three-light signal many of us encounter daily.
