Old Timeline Raiden

ADHD was a new concept to him, at least in terms of being named- but he’s seen a few people before with the same behaviors.

It takes him some time to learn all your little quirks and routines, or lack thereof.

May sometimes become impatient, but always apologizes for his behavior- which over time gets better.

You were asked about by just about everyone, and it seemed to frustrate him more than it did you. Resting off in a room away from everyone else, Raiden takes the brunt of most of everyone’s curiosity for you.

“Y/N needs rest- there is too much going on right now.”

He made sure his voice was stern enough to make his stance clear, “No one is needed that badly right now.”

Though a bit later he catches Johnny going towards your room, stopping him before he gets to the door, “What did I say, Johnny?”

“I was just tryin’ to bring some water!”

“I will take the water. Go on.”

Current Timeline Raiden

When you first brought it up to him he joked about how Kung Lao must have it too.

He’s more open to your needs, learning what you need to get things done and feel more comfortable.

Quite patient and understands you’ll have times of being overwhelmed, and tries to help you in those moments.

“Hey, you alright?” he asks you, seeing you utterly spaced out at all the noise.

When you shake your head “no” he sighs, offering you his hand and giving a reassuring smile. Once he’s got you to your feet he brings you out of sight of everyone else, letting you pick a spot to calm down.

“Johnny can be a little loud, I know…”

Sitting next to you he uses himself as a comforting barrier between you and the group, “You stay here as long as you need, okay? There’s no rush.”

Fujin

He has a better understanding of it than you’d expect considering his time among humans.

By far the most patient and open about things, offering to help remind you of things.

Will help create routines to help curb bad habits, and steer you away from getting too distracted.

You felt a gentle nudge on your shoulder, breaking you out of your disconnected daze.

“You seem distracted, did something cross your mind?”

His voice was sweet, face just as sweet as he leaned over to see yours more. When you shook your head “no” he gave a soft smile, “Overworked yourself? Maybe we should take a minute to refresh you?”

He opened the windows in the room to let fresh air in and brought you something to drink.

“Have this to start, but let me know if you need anything else…”

Erron

Not the most knowledgeable about the subject, but granted he’s never had to think too hard about things like this before.

Willing to learn however, albeit a little slow when it comes to getting used to new routines.

He will leave little notes around the house for you though, little reminders for things either of you need to do or get.

He’d left a note on the dining table telling you he’d be home later than usual because he’d be swinging by the market. Which really you didn’t notice until it was almost an hour after he’d normally have been home that it caught your eye.

Though it seemed like only a minute later he was home, putting things away before coming over to you to give you a friendly little pinch, “Sorry for bein’ out so long…”

Looking at the clock out of curiosity you realize it was 2 hours ahead of when you last looked at it. He chuckled as he realized you must’ve gotten distracted given your mildly confused expression, “Least you didn’t miss me too bad?” he teased.

Behold: Zoot's cousins!! (in order from oldest to youngest minus Liv, who is the same age as Scooter and is the youngest overall)

Thank you everybody for your patience! I've spent a long time thinking about these characters and their personalities and my goodness does it feel good to have their refs finished!

Sum extra facts: -Zee had relatives down in New Orleans, where she'd often spend her summers with them. She has always been a big fan of music and her family in particular have always strived in the disco genre. Zee liked to explore different musics so became a frequent at Jerrys' Tunes - the shop in which Floyd worked in when he was younger. Zee and Floyd became close friends over the summer when Zee would visit, and it was through that very same shop that Zee would meet Teeth.

-Raph's parents where big sport enthusiasts and Raph never felt like he clicked with any of the sports they did, but he took up boxing to try to fit in, hoping that he'd grow to like it overtime. The boxing did help him get fitter, but it also sucked, and eventually he quit, left home, and went to Uni as an act of rebellion. After graduating he spent a few years homeless with no where to go before he stumbled upon a younger Janice and her travelling band of hipsters that had become her family. Raph spends his time with Janice and the peaceful community of hippies learning about himself and the positivity a little mediating and music can bring. After settling and finding a home Raph begins to work at a chiropractors and becomes much happier (he and Janice spoke over the spiritual plane while meditating. They have in depth talks about crystals, auras and trees)

-Penny has OCD and likes things to be organised in a certain way and for events to be planned, if they're not this can lead to her become stressed and heavily irritated. When she was younger and when Raph had started working as an official chiropractor Raph suggested she try meditating to ease stress, which didn't work (Penny: Sitting and being at one with nature isn't enough Raph. I need to punch thing-). Though hesitant, Raph suggested boxing, and shockingly it works. Penny finds her relief in boxing and other physical exercises. While Raph isn't as fond of sports as Penny is he is more or less her coach who advices her to stay hydrated and to not push herself. Penny trusts Raph a lot thanks to their close bond

-Lazer's ADHD shows in him having bouts of energy at random and impulsiveness. In his early years of his career when he started to become famous this led to a lot of people, especially fans and people wanting to do business, taking advantage of him. Lazer is a friendly person at heart, he had a habit of sometimes overlooking red flags in favour if believing everybody was chill like him. This led to a lot of heartbreaks which Penny often had to deal with the aftermath of, and while at times it was tiring seeing her brother get himself into similar situations over and over again it did led to her becoming very protective of him. Lazer, in turn, views Penny as his best friend. He trusts her whole heartedly and she's the first family member he'll tell good news to (he probably cried more then Penny did when she got her top surgery)

Megaman Battle Network but I went back in time and moved a chair (headcanons/musings under the cut)

Everything else is the same but Lan was the one who had HBD, died, and was brought back by Dr. Hikari as Megaman.EXE (anything relating to this concept will be tagged "MegaLan AU" but otherwise he's called Megaman.EXE here)

Hub is a humble, polite, and diligent 5th grader. Greatly admires his dad and wants to work in navi development just like him, but is still a mama's boy. He always goes to bed, wakes up, and gets to school on time. He studies just enough to maintain decent grades, does all his chores, and gets around by skateboarding. Hub has a pretty happy and peaceful life, but something feels...missing. His dad's long work hours and mom's fussing have led him to feel somewhat sheltered and lacking in excitement, and his parents have noticed. So, for Hub's 10th birthday, Dr. Hikari surprised his son with his own custom netnavi: Megaman.EXE.

"Why did Dad name you 'Megaman'?" "Because I'm mega cool! 👉😎👉" [Or if you prefer the Japanese names: "Why did Dad name you 'Rockman'?" "Because I rock! 👉😎👉"]

This Megaman is very cocky and proud of his skills, but not to the point of delusion (he is not immune to fucking around and finding out lmao). It's more a case of him hyping himself up because A) he can do things as a navi that he could never do as a human, and B) he got a second chance at life and wants to live it to the fullest. He hates that he's separated from his family and the rest of the world by a screen, but he's still really happy that he got to know his twin brother at all. Someone's gotta drag Hub out of the classroom to see all the exciting things the world has to offer!!!

Unlike Hub with school and chores, this Megaman has to be prodded into doing navi tasks like file cleanup, software maintainance, etc. He's also not the most reliable alarm clock lmao

This Megaman has a bad habit of leaving the joke program running in the background. Hub keeps turning it off and even tried deleting it but somehow Megaman still has it running most of the time (he knows when to dial it back tho)

Despite slacking on most other navi tasks, this Megaman is still without a doubt very powerful, excels at netbattling, and is very eager to tackle net crimes (he begged Hub to jack him into the oven when it caught fire). He also loves to tease opponents, he keeps it lighthearted when battling friendly navis like Roll or Gutsman but can get pretty sassy against enemies. It's not smart, especially where Bass is concerned, but then again this is still Lan we're talking about. And SPEAKING OF

There were more than a few times where he almost gave away his real identity, whether it be because he made a comment about craving curry or called Hub "big bro" without thinking and tried to laugh it off ("It's because we're so close and you act all responsible and stuffy like an older brother!! No other reason hAHAHAHA ;;")

Once Dr. Hikari gives Hub "Lan.BAT" to save Megaman from deletion and tells him the truth, Hub is definitely still surprised but not as much as he could be ("Man, Hub, you're taking this whole 'dead twin reborn as a navi' thing pretty casually..." "You weren't exactly subtle about it, little bro.")

During the big climax in BN5, Megaman-channeling-the-spirit-of-Lan is mostly serious and focused, but he still can't help but be like "Heh, I look SO cool right now!!" and then the second the powerup wears off he crumples to the ground like he has glass bones and paper skin but it was SO worth it

Megaman is the only one who takes the rivalry with Chaud and Protoman seriously; poor Hub just wants to be friends and not cause problems but alas his navi got the Shounen Protagonist ADHD

Since the dynamic is flipped around, Maylu and Roll don't have the same feelings for the boys that they normally would, Maylu might've had a crush on Hub when they were little but she got over it (also: my house, my aroace Hub)

Also just in general, because he was a little more sheltered than canon Lan, Hub didn't have many friends for most of his life. He still grew up with Maylu as his next-door neighbor and childhood friend, but they weren't as close as Maylu and Lan. Hub avoided Dex b/c he saw Dex as a bully and wanted to stay as far from trouble as possible, and Yai he just didn't interact with due to shyness. But once Megaman entered the picture, Hub became much more social and outgoing. He became closer to Maylu, befriended Dex and Yai, and actively wants to befriend Chaud because he sees that same sense of loneliness in Chaud.

"I know how we can save Chaud!! First I need you to throw me--" "I AM NOT DOING THAT FOR SEVERAL REASONS"

When I was ten, I was an absolute nightmare for one single, specific school year.

I was fine with my parents and friends, but in class I was disruptive and low-achieving, I cheated constantly, and I was generally a pain in the ass. I was in a progressive school where I’d been for two years without any issues, so everyone was bewildered by this, understandably so.

I hadn’t thought about it for decades until recently, with the ADHD diagnosis. Not that I’m blaming my behavior on ADHD; I did what I did deliberately, consciously, and it set a pattern for later acting out as a teen -- self-sabotage as a method of getting attention. If I’d had different family or different teachers later on it might have worked and I’d still be doing it, but in high school it never got me an ounce more attention, good or bad, so eventually I stopped. And I got through high school and got two college degrees, so I guess in a screwed-up way, ignoring me worked.

When I was ten I was a genuinely smart and good-natured kid. I was doing fine in most subjects, but I began to fail in math. And when I began to be told I must be doing it on purpose because it wasn’t like it was hard math (multiplication), I thought, if you want to see failure, let’s go.

I bombed on everything from biology to music appreciation. That’s how bad it got. Because fuck you, that’s why! I couldn’t verbalize that yet but that’s what it was. You want me to do one thing I’m not capable of doing and you won’t believe me when I say I can’t? Fine. I won’t do anything you want me to do. What a little shit! I'm kind of proud of him, even as fucked up as it was.

I keep thinking about it now because above and beyond anyone else, that teacher is the one who should have seen it, who should have comprehended that this was not just a behavioral problem. I don't know if anyone was truly capable of catching my learning disability but if anyone was going to, it was going to be her. That teacher should have seen this bright, friendly little kid throwing himself at a brick wall -- and then throwing himself off a cliff -- and said, “There’s something truly wrong here. He can’t do this. Let’s find out why.”

Instead she gave me a poster with a fucked up poem on it.

She told my parents I was at a difficult age, and they also had a kid with autism and not a lot of emotional resources to spare for me, who had never needed it before. So it was easy to believe her, send me to my room (which was full of books, so I went quite happily) and beg the school to move me up a grade with my cohort so I wouldn’t continue to be poorly socialized. They said I was smart, I’d catch up, and the school agreed. And I did. Mostly. Still can’t do multiplication, but it’s remarkable how infrequently I need to. Partly I caught up because the next teacher looked at my record and said, “It seems like you’re not very into math. Just do what you can,” never gave me a math test, and graded me on my own personal curve when it came to numbers. Crisis averted for the moment.

I’m not angry with my parents or the therapists they sent me to or the educational system. But I’m still a little mad at that one teacher who told me I was too smart to fail unless I was doing it deliberately. She might not even deserve it; she had 20 kids to manage and I’m sure she was angry with me and thought I was a liar. In her place I might not have worked it out either, though I think I would have been less of a sanctimonious dickhead about it.

But that’s the thing about this kind of journey. You don’t really get to choose who you’re mad at or why. You only ever get to choose what to do about it.

She has since passed, and the school combined with another school a few years ago so it doesn’t exist. I could reach out to one of my other early teachers, who I think would remember me, and ask him about it, but I don’t know what the point would be. I’ve dealt with the habit I had of fucking up my own life worse than anyone else could fuck it up for me, I don’t do that and haven’t in a long time, so there’s nothing...lingering, I suppose. I’m not traumatized by it. I think the word is annoyed. I’m annoyed by it.

So I guess I just think about it until I come up with something to do or until I've thought about it enough.

They turned into a Piplup because their mom (Empoleon) always dressed them as one to avoid Dialga's detection.

They "evolved" by switching to a Prinplup disguise shortly before travelling back to the past.

[pjo series thoughts - spoilers ep. 1]

First note is a biggie: When Sally starts describing the story of Perseus in the museum, I had to pause. It starts with Perseus and his mother thrown into a box and cast out to sea, to be forgotten about, to die basically. It made me think about how Sally and Percy basically grew up alone, how that situation mirrors Perseus in the myths, and the fact that in the myths the mother-son pair were 'surrounded by sea' (the exact words Sally uses to tell the story, btw) just adds to the parallel.

In the books, Sally describes Poseidon essentially going to the sea and never coming back. In the show, we meet her properly at the apartment and she's standing in the rain, surrounded by water. In short, the 'surrounded by' part of that story is equivalent to 'being shaped by'. Their lives – both Sally-Percy and Perseus and his mom in the myths – had a large part of their lives determined by Poseidon, determined by the sea.

• Bobofit? just makes me think of Boba Fett and now I'm picturing Nancy fanart as a star wars clone XD

• Eddie the Super is a bro in this adaptation. I agree with what I've heard some other folks saying around these fandom parts, I like this change from Eddie being one of the poker buddies to being at odds with Gabe, too.

• Sally Jackson listening to 'logical' by Olivia Rodrigo. Sally Jackson being an Olivia fan!!!!

• Gabe and Sally's relationship here... it's not good sure, but in this adaptation, I can see sort of how they could have started, maybe at first it not being about 'protecting Percy', as they sort of have a banter here that doesn't just seem like a watered-down/kid-friendly version of a dysfunctional marriage but also like the remnants of some sort of clicking. Of course, I want to believe that Gabe is still an awful human being, and yeah, the show portrays that he's a slum, a verbal dick towards everyone in his life, has abusive habits like checking Sally's phone without permission, so I still don't like him here. But, there's a difference between series!Gabe and book!Gabe in which book!Gabe was just painted as cut and dry, black and white awful, like the worlds slimiest, grimiest old fool. Maybe it's the act of seeing it instead of reading about it since in the book we ARE the narrator – a twelve-year-old boy with a limited worldview and seeing things more as cut-dry/black-white – and here we're more on the outside looking in, so we can approach the world with a more objective viewpoint, and see details not as 'good' or 'bad' but as just details. Just something like 'life just be like that sometimes' kind of way.

• 'Like a puzzle with have the wrong pieces' hit home for me. Also, describing Percy's attention slips through the mist as 'daydreaming' is such a good way to relate ADHD to his demigodness. I like how the series described Percy's mind and disabilities better so far than the books.

• 'Something that felt real to you that no one else can see?' The way Sally delivers this line... UGH so good at being very subtle in suggesting that she can relate to Percy personally here, hinting at her ability to see through the mist as well despite being 100% mortal. Or maybe that's just me knowing things revealed later in the series and subplanting that onto the now.

• It's hard explaining greek gods being real to your son. LOL undercut perfectly with Walker's comedy ("like– like Jesus?"). Also, Walker's acting? 10/10

• putting Percy and Grover at odds in the series just like in the books but each do it differently – in the books, Percy ditches Grover bc he's acting weird and it's stressing Percy out. In the series, Grover is the one that does the dirty deed and makes sure Percy gets expelled from Yancy. Either case, they both put tension in the relationship (to be repaired later in the narrative). So, before you say anything bad about the differences between book and series, think about the emotional part of it. The series speaks to the HEART of the scene, of the story, even if it's not a word-for-word retelling with visuals.

• "He is brutal, he is relentless, he–" "He is still wearing underpants." Classic Percy comedy akdjfhgklsjdfg I'm in love

• Sally setting Grover up for his emotional journey on the quest by making him swear to protect Percy against all monsters/threats that come his way.

• Oh god, it's even more heartwrenching the second time watching Percy watch his mom "die" – the silence that encompasses the moment, all sounds drowning away, the rain so crystal clear on his face, and his eyes... god. so good.

• I love the last scene. The campers' voices coming out of the blackness, the blackness fading into a hazy purple sunset as Percy's vision come to. Annabeth's voice saying "he must be the one,' as she so wants him to be the one that will bring her along on a quest. just the way the framing lands at the end, with the subtle movement of camper silhouettes shifting away and Chiron front and centre, welcoming Percy (and thus the audience) into the world (into the series). Such a good introduction. So, so good.

Cove Holden x Neurodivergent MC headcanons

I said I'd do this kind of post days ago, and finally, here it is!

First of all, a little reminder that "neurodivergent" is an umbrella term to talk about a large variety of "disorders", of divergencies. It doesn't stop to autism or adhd.

• If the MC have been early diagnosed, they will 100% spot Cove's autism, but will probably keep their suspicions for themselves because naaaah, it can't be that, maybe neurotypicals' brains are just not as weird as you though they were. But once Cove starts his researches on neurodivergency and autism, and talks to you about the possibility of him being autistic, it just... Make sense to you. You can't imagine him being anything else than a fellow neurodivergent. It was just obvious the whole time. And during the official diagnosis journey, your moms will definitely help by explaining to Cove how to contact a good professional, who he needs to be searching for, what are the papers he'll need to pass the test, etc... And will also comfort and reassure Clifford while he does his best to accept and understand his son's autism, and how he's not a bad father for not noticing the signs before.

• But if instead, the MC is late diagnosed, they will either understand they are neurodivergent while doing researches to understand Cove, or Cove will understand he's autistic while doing researches right after your diagnosis. There's no other scenarios, you two just want to understand each others so bad, when really you aren't that different. But once both of you are aware of your neurodivergency, it just makes sense that you've always understood each others so well and ended up together.

• Both of you forget stuffs constantly. Either it is dates, anniversaries, chores, or just objects everywhere in the house. The worst is when Cove looses his glasses. The two of you can spend hours circling around the house, looking everywhere and anywhere, even in the weirdest places of the house (like the fridge that you'll probably open quite a few times during the treasure hunt), before you look at Cove long enough to realize that his glasses are, in fact, on his head.

• You also have a big board in the house to prevent you both from forgetting important meetings, outputs or medical appointments. It works, but only half of the time.

• Both of you do chores whenever they remember to do them. You aren't asking to the other to do it and don't care much about who did the most chores in the day/week, since you both know that if you're waiting for the other to do it, there's great chances that you'll both forget it right away and it'll never be done.

• After spending so much time with one another, you took the habit to include the other in your stimming. Echolalia of course, but also especially hand stimming. It can be clapping each other's hand, tangling and untangling your fingers, or playing with them... The thing is, it now looks like you are both unable to function without each other. And of course it isn't really true, but you must admit that whenever you're apart from your partner, you feel a pinch in the heart when you start stimming and you have to do it all alone without someone's hand to play with.

• Over the years you ended up being able to follow each other's train of thoughts while you both zone out during a conversation, which makes it incredibly weird to others when you just stay silent for a moment, and then suddenly start to talk about a completely different and unrelated topic, as if it was the most natural sequel to the precedent conversation.

(some of these will be a little vague, so my bad. will be embarrassed about how obvious my preference for high/light voices will be too lmao)

robin: noticably... soft. like, rarely gets much louder than normal talking voice too. i picture f!robin having an almost whispery quality to her voice in a subtle relaxing kind of way.

whitney: bastard (gn) edgelord energy through and through. f!whitney's voice is low and m!whitney's voice has an almost forced-sounding constant growl to it.

eden: might be the only one besides bailey that i picture to have such a deep voice tbh. not very expressive, but can get very growly in bed sometimes and you will get a bit of a rise out of them if you catch them off guard or make them smile.

kylar: f!kylar's voice is kind of light and m!kylar's voice is VERY light. someone mentioned kylar slightly trying to sound like an anime character with their voice and i wholeheartedly agree lmao. their voice gets very quivery at times under stress rather than much louder until they reach a breaking point. the only thing that is able to make them significantly loud on no special occasion outside of mental breakdowns is.................. well.

sydney: tired sounding, but strangely calming. i picture m!syd with a kind of androgynous voice and f! with a slightly more cheerful airy sounding voice. really doesn't change from pure to corrupt, corrupt may have a habit of slipping into a bit more vocal fry maybe but it's barely noticable.

avery: standard middle aged person voice, m!avery sounding a bit older maybe. laughing a lot and usually sounding like they have a grin on their face, with a hint of hollow fakeness.

great hawk: not actual bird in my playthroughs so they sound like just a weird human that squawks every now and then lol. mid-range with a pleasant and smooth voice, and when they get excited their voice raises but they sometimes sound weirdly neutral, as if their instincts don't always trigger them to emote like a human would.

alex: mid-low with the expected southern drawl. will get a bit on the louder side sometimes without realizing it. how much this has to do with my adhd hc for them im unsure.

bailey: very low and deep. will get suddenly very loud when they snap. not a hint of a smile in their voice outside of when they're teasing someone or saying something particularly dark.

harper: usually high-ish and interested sounding, like they're trying to bring your mood up or get you out of your shell by listening to them, if that makes sense. very relaxed sounding though, has a calming effect. gets a bit breathy sounding when something gets them particularly flustered/horny, and anything past that that gets their facade to slip makes their voice quiver. when the mask is completely off and they're being a full on creep there are rare moments where their voice will drop very low for a moment, sometimes mid sentence. honestly a little scary.

jordan: very airy and pretty. a bit awkward-sounding in tone sometimes though. it seems like they don't get out much.

briar: also bastard energy. a bit of a husky voice, but still too attractive-sounding for how scummy they are.

leighton: not sure what to say tbh. just an occasionally sleazy sounding older person. i know theres a lot of old man fuckers but nothing quite stands out to me about leighton.

sirris: maybe it's because theyre the only one known to be an actual parent but mid-range with dorky dad/mom energy. very friendly sounding!

doren: low and kinda deep. strikes me as being a little brief and quiet in one on one interactions outside of teaching.

mason: a strong voice, especially when teaching. really has that hustle motivation kind of vibe.

morgan: mid-high register and constantly shaky, maybe a little hoarse at times. growly when they're pissed off.

niki: mid range, fast talking and a little cold sounding but unintentionally.

remy: low and projected loud a good amount of the time, like they're reading off orders.

wren: mid-deep and a bit raspy. noticable when you can hear a smirk on their lips.

I don't know if I have any helpful advice, but I'll try!

I think what's worked best for me is to meet people in contexts that are related to specific, niche interests. I'm not entirely sure I have any IRL friends anymore who are only autistic, I do have a bunch who are both autistic and have ADHD though. And all of them, I've met through various kinds of special interests.

For example, several people in my TTRPG group are neurodiverse. How did I meet them? I happened to sit next to a guy I'd never spoken to before while at a work lunch, and we got to talking fantasy books (... I don't really remember how), which got us into RPG talk, which eventually led to him asking me by the end of the lunch whether I'd like to join the TTRPG group that he and some of his friends were starting up soon. That was 3,5 years ago, and we're still playing together to this day!

Another, I met through Magic: The Gathering - we were going to the same weekend event (not related to MtG) and I saw him post in a thread about looking for people to play some games with, so I replied to him, and we pretty much clicked right away because it turned out we had lots of other similar interests as well.

A third, I got to know through playing social deception games at yet another event, in which we sort of fell into a banter-y jargon while trying to convince everyone else to vote out the other. (We were both the wild cards in every game, because I had a habit of grinning wildly and looking generally untrustworthy regardless of which role I was given, and he had an absolutely straight face regardless and was really hard to read, so we pretty quickly identified each other as friendly rivals.) Then I figured out he lived in the same city as I did, and my train was cancelled, so I used my Charisma™ to hitch a ride with him and his dad back home :D

... So based on my own experiences, it seems I've mostly met other neurodiverse people through various kinds of games, which is one of my great passions in life! Depending on what your interests are, maybe there are events, groups or such that you could be on the lookout for? Sort of like it usually happens on Tumblr I guess, but IRL it's a bit harder since you have to do more work and research to find those places and communities.

The thing is though, it will always be scary. The first time I went to play with the TTRPG group, I was super scared. I barely said anything during the first hour or so, and even after several sessions, it still took some time each time to get back into it and relax. But I always have a lot of fun while playing, and I know they appreciate having me there, so that makes it easier to relax and not worry so much. It was the same thing with the MtG friend - I rewrote that first message sooo many times, and then had a racing heart by the time I went to meet up with him. The trick for me has been to recognise when it's worth pushing through that discomfort, and try to be accepting of the fact that sometimes it won't work out, but sometimes it will; sometimes it will lead to amazing friendships, but sometimes it will fizzle out or face plant before it could even start. And that's fine.

It gets easier with time in my experience, but it never gets easy. I've sort of had to accept that I usually don't make a great first impression. It's not that I make a bad impression, I just don't think I make much of an impression at all - I probably seem more shy than I really am, and sometimes my fears make me behave really awkwardly. But after a couple times, as I start to relax and get more comfortable being myself, I think I can make a really really good impression! And I stress a little less about first impressions when I remind myself of that.

Oh, and one more thing: I've personally found that it's a lot easier to meet new people if they are there by themselves. People who already hang out in groups are much harder to approach. Because of this reason, actually, I tend to avoid going to places together with my friends if my aim is to meet new people. It means I won't have the comfort and safety of my friends with me, but it increases the likelihood that I'll approach people I wouldn't have talked to others - or that they will approach me! (The friend I met through social deception games is the opposite, though. He says the comfort of having friends with him makes him more relaxed and confident, which makes it easier for him to meet new people.)

hi so i think i may or may not have autism and ADHD but i'm really scared to get diagnosed because my family isn't supportive of the neurodivergent community and i'm pretty sure my parents would flip if i asked them to get diagnosed since they're alr toxic af and put down my ass every day but my life's become a living hell because i'm 95% sure that all of my "bad habits" and "tics" are just adhd and autism things and they've really manifested over the last few months and i have no clue what to do because it's a lose lose situation either way and please PLEASE tell me you have advice or at least tips on how to deal with this

Please prioritise your safety first. You can get to formal diagnosis later when you are more financially stable and in better place.

I would like to let you know that self-diagnosis is valid. Your ADHD and Autism are valid even if you have no means to get official diagnosis, because there are a lot of barriers to getting one.

WARNING: I do talk about how mental health issues affect the following character.

Ymoghelanus Vjekuslowa-Bisevozurka Grostalphen is an independent and fierce cybernetic mercenary who was originally a human, but a terrible accident left her original body paralyzed. Luckily for her, her younger brother managed to install her consciousness and DNA into an unused Tier Unidentifiable Azhelowin body. Similar to her father, she possesses dyscalculia and PTSD, but she also has sensory processing disorder (SPD) and mild ADHD. As an individual with mild ADHD, she has a tendency to be lost in her thoughts and forget certain things a lot. Ymoghelanus is also quite talkative and has a habit of taking unnecessary risks or making careless mistakes. SPD makes her feel uncoordinated in her surrounding environments, which intensifies her clumsiness such as bumping into walls or accidentally dropping items. PTSD makes it difficult for her to experience positive emotions as she’s plagued with overwhelming guilt and the occasional emotional numbness. She also feels detached from those close to her and has a fairly pessimistic view on the future. As a result of her trauma, she’ll become triggered if people throw sexual remarks at her and try to sensually touch her without consent, and she witnesses bullying. Due to her accountability, she’s capable of answering for her own conduct and obligation. However, she has experienced moments where she has forgotten to consider the consequences of her actions. She’s mostly reliable and trustworthy, but her mental health issues can tamper with her trustability. Generosity allows her to be friendly, helpful, and willing to see the good qualities in many people. She views the needs, wishes, and interests of other individuals as more important than hers.

She sees it as one of her many responsibilities to uphold the safety of others and help them during a difficult or unhappy time in their life. However, she forgets that her own personal safety and well-being is also important to maintain. She’s somewhat eager for new knowledge and is intellectually curious, always asking questions and searching for answers to further her understanding. Ymoghelanus usually shows her consideration and regard towards those she’s personally comfortable with. She tries to treat her peers and family with utmost politeness, but her slight impatience can get the best of her. She possesses the moral strength to face dangerous situations, fear, and the difficulties of life headfirst without easily stopping her unless it’s related to her trauma. She carefully looks out for the comfort and welfare of others, notices many details that most don’t, and devises clear solutions to any problem. She’s mostly easygoing, but can be somewhat hot-tempered towards those she adamantly despises or views as annoying pests. She can even be quite destructive and violent when pushed over the edge. Due to unfortunate past incidents, she has a sneering disbelief in integrity and believes that most people are interested in satisfying their egos and desires. Ymoghelanus has a tendency to feel uncomfortable and out of place in many social situations, which is made more difficult because of her somewhat low self-esteem. As a result of this, she sometimes has trouble understanding certain social norms and clearly communicating with others.

She’s noticeably taller than the average height of a human woman, being approximately 5' 8” (172.72 cm). During her human years, she had a triangular body with her shoulders and bust being narrower than her hips. Ymoghelanus had sandy blonde shoulder-length beachy waves and her skin was limestone. She had hazel eyes that sport a yellow-brownish hue with green specks around the centre. She had a claw mark on her right cheek, which she received from her mother’s Cornish Rex. Now that she's an Azhelowin, her body has gone through numerous and noticeable changes. Her body type is now spoon-shaped with a defined waist and carries some weight in her upper arms and thighs. She has red blonde hair in a voluminous bob with a wavy right side bang. Her eyes are now a tangerine with each one possessing an iris, a crosshair, and two concentric circles that are all gleaming pyrite. She has a tattoo on her left arm and it depicts a koi trying to jump over a waterfall. Ymoghelanus has another tattoo on her right outer thigh, which shows a green heron standing before a sunrise. As an Azhelowin, her pale ivory skin is made from an unknown liquid that's virtually indestructible. Her body is made up of various technological parts, Æylphitus organs, and a biomechanical brain that contains her downloaded consciousness.

When she was 17-years-old, she often wore a sky magenta crop top that exposes her abdomen with either an eerie black T-shirt or a long-sleeved, white shirt that has vertical blue and yellow stripes. The crop top depicts a red skull with a burning candle and the line “The Masque of the Red Death”, which is a reference to a Edgar Allan Poe short story of the same name. Ymoghelanus often wears jorts that reach at her knees with pelorus blue over-the-calf socks, but she sometimes opts for shiny mahogany leggings and lavenderblush quarter socks with tapestry purple stripes. She wears a pair of rose quartz sneakers and three bracelets on both wrists: a beagle and two braided bracelets on her left wrist; and a charm bracelet with star, horseshoe, four-leaf clover, and key charms on her right wrist. Now that she’s 38-years-old and after becoming an Azhelowin, she sports a completely different attire, but she still has the bracelets and crop top. She has a dolphin bites piercing below her lower lip and a left vertical eyebrow piercing with a cone ball type. Her biker jacket is made from expensive cowhide that’s dyed gunmetal and the inside has been perfectly crafted with blizzard blue sheepskin. The back of her jacket depicts the health hazard pictogram in aquamarine with an aureole of deep blue kyanite flames. On top and below the health hazard pictogram is the Latin phrase “fundamenta inconcussa” (unshakeable foundation) in reflective gold. Underneath her jacket is an amaranth purple shoulder holster and a platinum T-shirt with bismark Raglan-sleeves. A silver pendant necklace with the Celtic cross hangs around Ymoghelanus’ neck, which was given to her by her father. She wears combat pants with 8 pockets and the camouflage hues consist of cosmic purple, fresh eggplant, sky magenta, and pompadour. Her pants are held up by a studded belt of varnished leather that’s been dyed an amaranth purple.

Ymoghelanus wears a M50 protective mask whenever she uses her flamethrower, biochemical rocket launcher, and hand grenades infused with psychopharmacological chemicals or an incapacitating agent. The second aforementioned weapon is a shoulder-fired, break action, anti-tank launcher that fires biochemical rockets. It appears to be a unique hybrid between the M79 grenade launcher and M20A1B1 super bazooka. Besides the flamethrower, rocket launcher, and hand grenades, she wields one other weapon. This one is a six-shot, carbon steel framed revolver with a silencer and it’s partially based off of the Smith & Wesson Model 36. The biochemical rocket launcher is called the Shrieking Nucleolus WJ58 and the revolver is named the Circumhorizontal Sunburst 6T-240. Ymoghelanus also carries around her father’s brass knuckles, butterfly knife, and lucky rabbit’s foot. She possesses a photograph with her, her mother, her father, and little brother during her younger years. She also has a pack of mint gum, her phone with a case that has a subtle, metallic finish and a hint of neon blue, purple-tinted sunglasses, and an epinephrine autoinjector. She often carries around a navy blue backpack adorned with a couple of kawaii pins and keychains, which helps to store most of her items.

She has inherited most of her father’s psychic abilities, but she has a bit of trouble controlling them. She can manipulate various forms of energy and matter by utilising her mental effort. Like her father, she is capable of lifting cars, trucks, buses, moderate-to-large sized rocks, trains, and massive trees. However, she does become exhausted after using her psychokinesis and enhanced strength. Besides her superior physical strength, she is quite agile and has much better control of her limbs, muscles, and digits. Her blood can produce eldritch beings that only listen to her commands, and she can read the thoughts and feelings of mortal beings. As a result of dermo-optical perception, Ymoghelanus can feel a variety of colours and brightnesses through her skin. She can obtain specific pieces of information about someone's or something's past and present by touching them. She can transport herself and one other person deep within her subconsciousness, entering a bleak corridor. This place is filled with multiple coloured doors and it spans on almost infinitely. While in this dream area, she and the person she brought with her can telepathically communicate with other people or supernatural beings. They can also catch numerous glimpses of near future events.
