Oh my god, exactly. That kind of thing is so hot. Belly churning, visibly distended with kicks and movement, constantly uneasy, and so heavily pregnant. It's obvious to anyone even looking in that direction that something's going on. And all you can do is rub it and pray it calms down before you garner more attention.

Unless, of course, you can't. And you're stuck with eyes all over, tracing over every twitch. Turning heads any time they hear your stomach gurgle, or your little huffs of exertion. Better hope it's not contractions. ;)

Linguistic and anthropology major student Virgil being invited to a science lab due to a new species [vaguely reminiscent of mermaids, is included in the email, so he's fascinated] that was found in the ocean and that needs its language and culture to be studied. He's met by a Mr Conroy (.. Logan-) who shows him the creature — an about human sized creature with, rather than lower legs or a fish tail, eight inky black and green tentacles that writhe and seep out a liquid that remains separated from the water in its tank. This is the biggest thing that Virgil has ever done but damn, will it make one hell of a thesis.

[Virgil figures out Remus' language quicker than any other linguist brought in because Remus has just aggressively been using slang and Virgil is a Gen Z so they clicked. Also Remus only liked him and was being difficult to the others on purpose. Remus is so fond of Virgil's everything and his sass and Virgil finds himself falling for the mer as well.]

[The first person Remus ever touches on purpose is Virgil and it's in front of a room full of other scientists who are absolutely gobsmacked that he's running his webbed fingers through the emo's hair and clicking about it.]

I think Virgil’s the only reason remus will get in the shower

He hates being alone with his thoughts so either Virgil will sit outside the shower to talk to him or be in with him

So if Remus feels unmotivated to do it but understands he needs to, he’ll ask Virgil if he’s okay with helping him. And ofc Virgil’s gonna help him! Remus wants to try and take care of himself and Vee loves that! So if he has to help remus, he’s sure as hell gonna do it!

Plus it’s a positive for both of them! The obvious and Virgil gets to help Remus take better care of himself and Remus gets to be close to Virgil!!

Remus will also try and do the same for Virgil, like running him a bubble bath with a bit of wine
