You were on Nami and Zoro’s side when it came to whatever was going on in Syrup Village. Kaya’s mansion made you feel vaguely unsettled, and stepping into the building made your heart pound quicker than you would like to admit. But if there was one thing that piqued your interest, it was the order of changing clothes for dinner. You’d been stuck in the same few outfits for weeks now, and the promise of something new—and formal—was nearly exciting, although you’d never admit it in front of Nami and her disapproving gaze.
Kaya’s kindness combined with the private guest room and bath you were treated to helped soothe your nerves. Soon you found yourself being led to the giant closet the rest of the Straw Hats were already in—Nami was trying on various different pieces, and Zoro seemed to have something in hand too.
“Ah, there you are!” Luffy said, swiveling on his heel and giving you a big grin as you entered the room. You stared in disbelief at all of the racks around you. Hell, there were even clothes hanging from the ceiling.
“Well, we certainly have a lot of options,” you said, skimming a hand over a nearby rack. There were a variety of different fabrics, but they all felt expensive: silk and velvet, damasks and brocades. “I don’t even know where to start.”
“I’m just trying on anything,” Nami called from where she was, before stepping out from the room divider she’d been changing behind. She wore an emerald dress with a plunging neckline, the patterned silk clinging to her curves, and did a little spin. “What do you think?”
Luffy shrugged. Zoro wrinkled his nose, barely glancing up from the armchair he was lounging on. “I think it looks nice,” you offered, but Nami still seemed dissuaded.
“Ugh, these two are impossible. What are you going to wear?”
“Uh, I’m getting there,” you said with a little laugh. “It’s a bit overwhelming; I’d rather help you guys pick first. Luffy, have you found something yet?” You turned towards the man in the center of the room, who nodded enthusiastically.
“Yeah, I found this!” He raised up a black waistcoat. You frowned at it.
“Um, Luffy, waistcoats are supposed to be worn with a suit,” you said, then paused, seeing his blank look. “...Never mind.”
“And I’m wearing black,” Zoro added, despite the piece of clothing slung along his lap definitely not being black. You exchanged a glance with Nami, who just rolled her eyes. They’re stupid, she mouthed, then returned to the rack she was glancing through. She worked quickly, pulling out various numbers that she scrutinized before either setting on the couch beside her or putting back.
“Okay,” you said slowly. “Need me to find you some pants with that, Cap?” Nami and Zoro let out identical groans as you spoke the pet name, both turning to give you exasperated looks. You suppressed your laugh.
“Stop calling him that,” Zoro said with a tired sigh. “You’re encouraging him.”
“Kind of the point, yeah,” you said cheerfully. While Zoro and Nami were both still largely unconvinced about the whole pirate crew thing, you’d joined the bandwagon rather quickly. Zoro rolled his eyes, and you turned towards the racks to find Luffy some slacks. “Assumedly you need something other than that shirt too?”
“I’ll look later,” Zoro said passively. You watched him out of your peripheral vision. He was outfitted in a patterned kimono, his three swords slung along his lap. He didn’t seem too interested in his surroundings, though what he was doing, you weren’t sure. You let him be, turning to page through the racks of clothes again. Finally you found a pair of slacks that seemed like they’d fit Luffy.
“Here,” you said, passing them over to him. “And find some shoes while you’re at it.”
“Why does she even have clothes that don’t fit her?” Zoro murmured, sounding as baffled as he could get. “What, she just casually has clothes in all four of our sizes hanging around?”
“Rich people own things just to own them,” Nami called. She’d changed again; this dress had a halter neckline and was blush pink. Zoro motioned with a hand at it, and Nami frowned, glancing down at the dress. “You don’t like it?”
“Eh,” Zoro said. Nami made a face.
“At this point I think you’re hating just to hate.” She pulled up a few more options, narrowing her eyes as she surveyed them. Luffy was seemingly satisfied with what you’d given him, because he took the pieces off of their hangers and slung them over his shoulder.
“I’m off,” he announced. “Gonna go change in my room and do some exploring before dinner. Have fun!” With that, he left, and Nami sighed, turning towards you. She held up her final two options—a red cheongsam with delicate gold embroidery and a pastel blue dress with an a-line skirt. You gnawed on your bottom lip as you studied the two.
“I think the blue one might wash you out a bit,” you said eventually; it’d clash with her hair no doubt, and make her skin look even paler. The shade wasn’t a right match with her eyes, either. “I like the cheongsam; I think you should go with that one. It contrasts nicely with your hair.”
Nami raised up the dress again, inspecting it. “You’re right,” she said, ducking back behind the room divider to change. You started pursuing the racks again; Nami stepped out a few moments later, successfully outfitted in her new dress. “Okay, I’m going to go do my hair in my guest room. Good luck.”
“Bye,” you called, watching as she left the room. You clicked your tongue, almost alone now and with absolutely zero options of clothing. As much as you liked the idea of new clothes, the abundance of options was starting to seem a little daunting. “Okay, now that Nami’s done, it’s my turn to play dress-up.”
Zoro laughed from where he sat, and you startled, almost having forgotten he was there. He was watching you attentively, his attention having diverted from whatever it was he’d been thinking about earlier. “You like this kind of thing?”
“Well, I mean.” You shrugged, peering at a few of the pieces on the rack in front of you. You pulled out a deep green dress, eyeing the lace by the neckline before setting it back. “It’s kind of fun, isn’t it?”
“Not really what I’m into.”
“You wear jewelry, so clearly you have some fashionable instinct,” you pointed out, bending over to glance at the clothes hiding by your knees. These were all skirts or unreasonably short dresses, with so little fabric you were uncertain they would cover anything at all. “Unless the earrings are for another reason…?”
“Three swords, three earrings.”
“Makes sense. What are you wearing with your shirt?” You glanced back to see Zoro’s answer, but he merely shrugged. “Do you want me to find you some trousers? A suit?”
“You don’t need to find clothes for me. I can do that myself.” Still, Zoro made absolutely no move to do so. You rolled your eyes, but turned your attention back on what you’d be wearing for the dinner. Vaguely you wondered how Zoro would look wearing a suit. You flushed almost as soon as the thought popped into your head, shoving it into the very back of your skull and banishing it from seeing the light of day.
“If you say so,” you said instead, mostly to distract yourself from the beyond inappropriate thoughts starting to run through your head. Honestly, you barely knew your crew mates—the four of you were close to tearing each other’s throats out before you ran into Buggy, after all. And the fact that Zoro was, well, conventionally attractive—and you tried to keep your thoughts on that and that alone, anything emotional was strictly out of the question—shouldn’t be something your mind lingered on.
You picked out the first dress that looked to be your size. It was dark purple, backless with a tight trumpet skirt. Ducking behind the room divider Nami had used, you stripped off your clothes, donning the dress. There was a mirror along the other side of the divider, and you turned, trying to appraise the dress on your figure. The color didn’t look entirely right, and you were uneasy about the lack of mobility the skirt might have—Kaya’s staff were still extremely suspicious, after all, and you’d rather be safe than sorry.
“Let me see,” Zoro called from outside. You tugged at the dress, suddenly nervous, but stepped out after you couldn’t find a good enough excuse not to. Zoro’s eyes ran up and down your figure, and you did a slow circle, showing off the dress. The bare skin of your back prickled.
“You’re not going to be able to move in it,” he eventually said.
You huffed out a breath, the nervous energy that had accumulated in your chest leaving with the action. Something in your belly stirred; disappointment, maybe, that Zoro had only commented on the practicality of the dress, not how you looked in it. But you pushed those thoughts away with an angry shove. Not the time, and definitely not the person to be thinking those sorts of things about. “Yeah, that’s what I was worried about. Let me find something else.”
Zoro’s gaze didn’t flicker from your body as you started across the room, ducking between more racks to find something. “You dead-set on a dress?”
“I haven’t worn a dress in a while,” you answered, picking out a red one before remembering Nami’s choice and setting it back. “Might as well take the opportunity.” The next one you pulled was blue, all shiny and soft. The material looked like some kind of tender silk. You set it aside to try on. “Why?”
“Haven’t seen either you or Nami in a dress before.”
“Actually, you have. I’m wearing one right now and Nami tried like five on earlier,” you said, glancing over your shoulder to shoot Zoro an unimpressed look. He scoffed, though there was a smile at the edges of his mouth as he turned his head away. Your next choice was soft pink, and made of tulle that vaguely resembled a puff pastry. You pulled it up. “Think I should try it?”
“I mean, pick whatever,” Zoro said, though he seemed mildly disgusted by the amount of fabric the skirt had, all bunched up with layers like something a ballerina might wear. “What are you trying to achieve with the dress?”
“What am I—I’m trying to look nice, Zoro,” you said, stifling your laughter. You set the pink dress back, replacing it with a sage green number instead. “Not everything has ulterior motives.”
“You always look nice.”
You froze, a soft chill curling around the back of your neck. Carefully, you straightened up from where’d you been bent over yet another rack of clothes, turning to look Zoro in the eye. His eyes hadn’t moved. “Oh,” you managed out, throat all dry and tongue like sandpaper in your mouth. “Well, thank you.”
Zoro cleared his throat, a dull noise he made in the hollow of his throat without even parting his lips. His gaze flickered away. “Yeah. Go try those on.”
Wordlessly, you stepped back behind the room divider and slipped on the blue dress. It had a texture like water—it was some kind of high-end silk, flexible enough that it was near liquid in movement. The dress itself fell to your ankles, and had a simple square neckline. You stepped outside, doing another slow twirl. “Better,” Zoro said.
“Better how?”
“You can probably run in it.”
You twisted your lips, trying to suppress the urge to turn them down into a frown. “Okay. It’s not doing it for me.” You ducked back behind the divider to change yet again; the sage green one was satin, with long sleeves and a neckline you hadn’t anticipated would be that deep.
Still, upon exiting the divider and turning for Zoro again, he didn’t have any worthwhile feedback. “It’s kind of plain,” he said eventually, not meeting your eyes.
You huffed, crossing your arms over your chest; you had to almost resist stomping over to the racks to find something more, and spent another few minutes gathering dresses and trying them on.
To your immense disappointment, each one garnered little to no reaction from Zoro. You even shoved on one of the tiny, too-little fabric dresses you’d disapproved of earlier, but all Zoro did was scan you from head to toe and say, rather flatly, “you’d get stabbed pretty easily in that.”
Frustration bled into your nerves as you hid behind the divider again. You glared at yourself in the mirror—your skin had started flushing with how annoyed you were getting, which might’ve been funny had you not been so ticked off. Men, you thought, irritated. Was it really so hard to tell you that you looked pretty?
He’s a bounty hunter, you had to remind yourself. He doesn’t care about this kind of thing. Besides, he was the last person you should be setting your sights on anyway. You tugged at the short dress, the hem just barely grazing the tops of your thighs.
You heard footsteps approaching from outside the divider, suddenly too close as you snapped yourself out of the reverie of thoughts you’d been lost in. Zoro turned the corner, arm propped up against the divider edge as he peered in, brows furrowed. “You stopped coming out,” he said. He was still in his kimono, swords tossed over one shoulder. The shirt he had was, assumedly, left on the couch he’d finally stood up from.
“I’m frustrated,” you told him blandly. His frown deepened.
“Because of… clothing?”
You suppressed the sigh that threatened to escape your lungs. “Never mind. I’m fresh out of ideas.” You pushed past Zoro, opting to stand in the center of the room as if analyzing it from a different view would magically give you more options. Zoro turned to stare, still looking perplexed. “With so many options, it’s hard to make up my mind, that’s all.”
“Uh huh.” Zoro was still studying you. “Did I do something?”
“What? No,” you said hastily. Too hastily. The words had ripped out of your throat like a hiccup, and you seriously needed to learn how to lie a bit better because now Zoro’s expression was even more confused. “No. Why would I be mad at you?”
“I don’t know. That’s why I’m asking.”
“It’s nothing,” you insisted, turning away from Zoro to stare at some of the clothes hanging on the wall above his head. These were too high up to properly look at, and as you stepped back, you glanced through the dresses hanging off the arch of the ceiling. You perused them without too much interest, eyes glancing over the various colors and fabrics until—
Zoro stepped next to you. “Hey,” he said, and you jolted, head snapping down to look at him. You let out a noise of irritation, then turned your focus back on the ceiling.
Your gaze flickered through the racks until finally falling on one particular dress hanging by the mouth of the room. It was somewhat hidden, tucked in a little corner beside a few other pieces, but from your vantage point it seemed about your size.
You took a step closer to it, surveying it with your neck craned. The material looked soft and comfortable but it still retained shape, and the color—even in the dim lighting of the closet—was one of your favorites. The undertone would suit your skin perfectly. And, well, you didn’t want to put all your bets on one dress you hadn’t even touched, but it was certainly promising.
Zoro stepped past you, barely exerting any effort to reach up and bring the dress down from where it hung up high. “This one, right?” he asked, and you swallowed, some of the annoyances you had towards him dissolving as he extended the dress hanger towards you. You nodded wordlessly, taking it. You stood there for a second before Zoro gestured with his head towards the divider. “Go try it on.”
You did so, retreating safely behind your wall and stepping out of the little dress. You surveyed the one Zoro had grabbed for you again, heart lodged in your throat. It really was beautiful, and exactly your style; now that you saw it up close, you could safely affirm it was your size too, but nervousness still pulsed through your veins at it.
Carefully, you slipped it on, adjusting the fabric around your hips and fixing up the neckline to rest evenly on your skin.
Zoro spoke out from the rest of the room. “So why are you mad at me?”
“I’m not—” you sighed, dropping your arms before returning to fiddle with the dress. “I’m not mad at you.”
“Is it because I wasn’t being helpful with the clothes? Because I already said that’s not exactly my area of expertise—”
“It’s not because of the clothes, Zoro,” you said sharply, cutting him off. Zoro clicked his tongue, the sound reverberating around the room and thudding in time with your heartbeat. You turned your attention back onto your reflection. “It’s just me being silly. Don’t worry about it.”
‘I’m worrying about it,” Zoro deadpanned. You sighed, adjusting the dress one final time before arranging your hair and staring at yourself in the mirror. It fit you perfectly, emphasizing all the right places and hiding all the parts of your body you were more insecure about. “Changed yet?”
“Yeah,” you said, voice limp.
“Let me see.”
You bit your lip, suddenly nervous about how he’d react. Knowing him, it’d be something like it’s okay or the color’s fine; perhaps can you even walk in that? or weird shape if he was feeling a little more critical. Still, you stepped out anyway, not meeting Zoro’s eyes as you spun for him, letting him look at the dress from all angles. When you’d finished posing you glanced up, eyes meeting him tentatively.
“It’s…” Zoro cleared his throat, ripping his gaze away from the dress on your figure to flicker up to your face. His gaze dropped again nearly as fast, like he couldn’t bear to keep eye contact. “Uh.”
“It’s what?” you prompted, turning to face the nearest mirror. Your lips twisted into a worried frown, turning to glance at the dress again. Was it really not as perfect as you’d thought originally? “Do you like it? It’s my favorite so far, I think, but if you don’t like it—”
“You look pretty in that,” Zoro blurted, cutting your rambles off with the strident, too-loud sentence. You froze, eyes flickering to meet him in the mirror. Carefully, he glanced up at you, and you could see his Adam’s apple bob as he swallowed hard.
“Oh.”
Zoro coughed, averting his gaze as you slowly turned around to face him. You couldn’t see properly with the less-than-ideal lighting of the room, but his face seemed to have taken on a ruddier complexion. “I like it,” he said, words softer than they’d been before. “It’s the one.”
There was a little rush of something through your veins, and you felt vaguely lightheaded. “Okay,” you barely managed to squeak out. “Thanks.” You stumbled back behind the divider, sucking in a deep breath and trying to regulate your breathing. God, this was actually shameful at this point.
You composed yourself quickly, gathering all the dresses you’d tried on and abandoned to return to their proper places. Zoro was still watching you attentively, and you glanced over your shoulder at him. Sparks prickled along your skin as your eyes met. “What?” you asked.
“You’re acting weird.”
“Am not.”
Zoro stood up, rolling back his shoulders and stretching his head from side to side. He glanced through the racks and, without even a minute’s hesitation, plucked a suit jacket and matching pants out from beside him. “Yeah, you are. What’s up?”
“You’re just grabbing those without thinking about it?” you demanded, eager to change the subject. Zoro rolled his eyes.
“I picked them like fifteen minutes ago,” he said. “Just didn’t grab them until you were done your whole… thing. Now spill it. You’re all red again.”
You swiveled towards the closest mirror, unable to suppress your gape as you saw that your skin had indeed turned a distinctive shade of scarlet, flushed undertones creeping their way up your skin. It was entirely recognizable even in the terrible lighting. Even your skin was treacherous, now. “Nothing,” you muttered, unable to meet Zoro’s eyes as you spit it out. “I was annoyed because you weren’t telling me what you thought of the dresses.”
“I… did, though?” Zoro said, perplexed. You let out a grating sigh, cheeks flaring even hotter now that he was forcing you to confess the entire extent of your sins.
“Yeah, like, practically,” you said, wrapping your arms defensively over your chest. “You’ll get stabbed in that so easily. You won’t be able to walk. I just wanted you to tell me that—” you cut yourself off with another groan. “Don’t make me say it.”
Zoro blinked. “I have no idea what you’re edging towards, so you’re going to have to say it.”
“I just wanted you to tell me I looked nice!” you finally burst out, turning so you wouldn’t have to look at Zoro’s face. God, you were going to have to quit the Straw Hats after this. It was so entirely stupid.
“But—” There was a laugh in Zoro’s voice, and you glared down at the floor, all of your dignity having left you by this point. You had no shame left to feel anymore. “I said ‘you always look nice’. Doesn’t that insinuate—”
“That’s not the point,” you said hotly, tone almost argumentative now. “I wanted you to think I looked pretty in a dress, Zoro.”
Zoro didn’t respond for a moment, brows creasing and face taking on a baffled expression. “But why—” Zoro cut himself off, and you turned even redder, holding your breath as he finally connected the dots. A single word fell from his lips, like a soft breath of air as he spoke. “Oh.”
“Oh,” you muttered under your breath, unable to stop the almost whining tone your voice took on. Zoro stepped closer to you, a hand wrapping around your wrist and forcing you to look up at him.
“I said you looked pretty in this one.”
“I know,” you insisted, still all red, “which is why I’m not totally mad at you, but—”
“You looked pretty in all of them,” Zoro said. He didn’t look bashful, per se—you didn’t think Zoro could get shy—but his voice was low, all hoarse in a more tentative way rather than one of his grating remarks this time. “For the record.”
Your breath caught.
“This one’s my favorite, though,” Zoro muttered. And then he was leaning down to kiss you, the ghost of his lips just on the corner of your mouth. You gaped up at him in shock as he averted his gaze, staring at some spot about your head. “Was that—” he started, before clearing his throat and trying again with a little more of his dignity this time. “Was that okay?”
“Yes,” you blurted fervently, and before you could fix up the moment with something more, well, suitable, your big mouth ruined it for you. “But I think we’re holding up dinner. You should get changed, and I still need to find shoes.”
You bit your tongue immediately after the words had been said, but it was too late—Zoro coughed, turning away from you. You panicked, and now it was your turn to grab his arm and tug you towards him. “Wait!”
Zoro glanced down at you, perplexed, and then you leaned up to kiss him square on the mouth. He stumbled back, surprised, but adjusted quickly, hand going to cradle the back of your neck and pressing you right to him before you finally broke apart.
“You should steal it,” he started. You stared up at him in question. “The dress, I mean. You should steal it.”
“When am I ever going to need to wear this again?” you asked, perplexed. Zoro shrugged, fingers tugging at the edge of the dress's neckline.
“Dunno. Just take it. She probably won’t even notice.”
“You’re adorable,” you teased; Zoro wrinkled his nose but didn’t complain, opting instead to move away and pick up the clothes he still hadn’t changed into. “Go change. See you at dinner.”
“Yeah,” Zoro said, his eyes not straying from your figure as you ducked out of the room. Before you could fully leave, though, Zoro grabbed your wrist, spinning you around towards him.
You didn’t have enough time to ask what he was doing when he leaned around to kiss you one final time, his hands cradling your face as your lips moved against each other. It was only a moment later that he stepped away, looking rather sheepish but not very apologetic as he finally let you go.
“You look more than pretty,” he murmured, eyes sinking into yours, and your throat dried, any words you might’ve formed dying away within seconds. “You always look more than pretty. You look gorgeous.”
“Thank you,” you whispered, and then he ducked back inside the closet to change.

omg i love this so much. i suck at writing angst but ill try!! a/n: ill be posting three different fics for all three! (i'll add link at the end once the other two are up too!); not proofread! zoro's part sani's part
nine years ft. monkey d luffy!
Tumblr media
luffy outstretched his arms, stifling a yawn. peering through blurry gaze, he tried to sit up. his head felt like it was going to split apart. the headache ravaged the back of his head and he tried to focus his gaze on the people in front of him.
"oi?" a young, sorta squeaky voice called out to him, "who are you?"
"who are you? and why do you look familiar?" another voice asked.
"let him atleast come to his senses." a young woman yelled at the two boys and luffy blinked twice as to take in the scene in front of him. her red hair shone under the sun, catching sunlight that reflected her fiery temperament.
"nami? is that you?" the older man's voice was gruff. he sat up and looked around as if observing the deck of the sunny for the first time.
the red-head was alarmed. with eyes widening, she asked, "is it actually you? luffy?"
"that's not me!!" the younger version quipped up, pouting when he stared at the older version, "i don't look like that."
"what do you mean? i think he's good-looking" another voice kissed the old captain's ears.
"yn?" the older version looked over to your voice.
"yn?" his eyes were frantic, as if taking all of as soon as he could. he sat up so fast, he almost could feel metal on his tongue, he could almost faint again.
but none of that mattered.
his fingers outstretched as if to feel your skin against his palm, as if to reassure himself that you were there.
"hey?" you seemed to chuckle awkwardly, backing off slightly at his sudden intrusion, "do i know you?"
there you were. there was his girl.
alive.
this wasn't one of those dreams that felt realer than life. you were there. so close, he could almost touch you and hold you and sob into you.
except you were nineteen again.
"hey, old man" zoro piped up, threatening the older man with a glare, "do we know you?"
"it's me" his throat was parched and it hurt to speak, "it's luffy."
"no, im luffy, you old man!!" the younger version piped up again, pouting even more now.
that interaction was three days ago and in the meantime, the crew and older version of their captain had both come to accept the strangeness of the situation. it was surreal, seeing his crew-mates young. to see them so full of dreams, their bodies barely beaten and bruised. it was surreal to see them so tiny, so inexperienced to what was about to come.
it was surreal to see you again.
you were nineteen. it would take two years before you and his younger version would get together. it would take seven more years till he asked you to marry him. it would take nine more years till he lost you.
but right now you were nineteen and when you smiled, the sun caught onto your skin, painting you in a golden shade. right now, you still snickered when you found something funny, the laugh sort of airy and hearty. right now, you still offered him a portion of your food as if you didn't want it. right now, the younger version of him didn't even know he loved you.
a part of him wanted to go yell at his younger version. hold him by the collar and threaten him to keep you safe. but all of that would be of no use.
the fates were cruel.
the deck was slightly chilly in the night air and you sat next to him. the aged captain didn't ignore the way you restlessly moved your legs. and he held back from putting his hand on your knee to calm you down.
"so..." you started and he knew that tone too well. you were gonna ask him something meekly, as in unsure if you wanna know the answer. you faced him, "what is future like? do you become the future king of pirates? is the crew together?"
"ah" luffy laughed, hiding this sting you sweet voice inflicted on him, "yes, the crew is still together. we even had some new members."
"really?" you beamed, "and me and you? are we still friends?"
"i-" he snuck in a breath and laughed again, hoping it would ease the pain in his voice, "ofcourse we are. we are the closest of friends. we will always be, till the end of time."
"no way! we're closer than you're with zoro?" your expression turned smug, "ha! i knew it. i am way way funnier than zoro."
luffy just nodded, finding an invisible rope round his throat as he looked at you. he was afraid as if one wrong word and he'd jinx everything, he'd be back in his solemn reality.
you spoke again, "i must say, did growing up make you less energetic? you're so quite luffy." then you corrected yourself, "ah, i mean like ofcourse growing up must make you less energet-"
"yn," luffy cut you off, "i love you"
your eyes widened comically, air stuck in your throat, "huh??"
"as a friend." he smiled at your confused figure, "i thought i should let you know while i was here."
"oh" a blush crept up your face, spreading till your ears, "i mean- i love you too- as a friend ofcourse!"
"i'm glad." luffy gave you a soft smile. his heart ached when you return back the smile with no hesitancy, "i'm glad i got to know you."
then you looked away from the older man and luffy knew it meant you were blushing even more furiously. then through a meek whisper you said, "you're being so sappy. stop it-"
"DINNER'S READY!" the young chef's voice boomed, snapping you two out of the conversation. the aged captain involuntarily jumped up at the name of dinner.
"glad to see you are the same about food still." he looked down at you, laughing. and he laughed with you.
he laughed because he knew in every timeline, he still had those nine years with you.
and he'd love you through them over and over again.

can u write something abt miguel and the reader being childhood best friends but they grew apart and then met again years later and get together?
Of course! I have been planning on making a series based on my childhood friend headcanons
Tumblr media
Art By Shuploc
Pairing: Miguel x F!Reader
Warnings: None, no use of y/n. Warnings will change throughout the series. Each part will have their own warnings
Summary: You and Miguel were childhood bestfriends. You two did everything together, one never without the other. That is, until you both headed off your separate ways. Now, you move back to New York and bump into him. Will your old friendship with him continue? Will you get any closure? Also, who is this Spider-Man you keep running into?
A/N: So I am finally getting around to writing my childhood Miguel fic/series! I don't have a set number of parts this will be. Nor do I have a timeline of when I'm getting each part out as I am also going to be working on requests. But, I will put up a post for when I have a new part coming out a few days prior. This is going to take place in the future when you and Miguel are older. There may be flashbacks and I will be using my headcanons as inspo. POV will change from Miguel and reader. This is the prologue, giving us a little snippet of reader and Miguel when they were teens.

"Hey, remember when we used to play pirates over at the jungle gym?" Miguel asked you as you both swung on the swings of your childhood playground.
You smiled and nodded your head, your mind drifting off to the wonderful memories of when you were both kids, playing with the other neighborhood kids.
“Of course I do. I was only the best thing ever!” You laughed as you continued to swing.
“The slides were our ship and the monkey bars were the only way to get to and from land. It was great, honestly,” you reminisced.
The sun was beginning to set, and Miguel couldn’t help but to stare at you for a moment as the sunlight caught your profile. And Miguel was in complete awe. They way the sun seemed to just glisten your skin, giving you such an angelic glow that he suddenly felt unworthy of. It made his stomach turn a bit.
He had been harboring feelings for you for quite some time, and he knew that if he didn’t confess them to you now, he knew he never would.
“Hey..I know this is gonna sound crazy, but, I want to tell you something,” Miguel started, suddenly feeling very nervous.
You looked over at him, a smile on your fine. “Hmm? What is it?”
God, that smile. It made his heart skip a beat every single time. He could stare at it forever. He wanted to.
So badly.
And yet…
“N-nevermind. It’s nothing,” he shook his head.
You raised a brow at him. “You sure, Miggy?”
Damn, that nickname. Only those closest to him were allowed to call him that. However, hearing you saying it tugged at his heart a certain way.
“Y-yeah. I’m sure,” he assured you, looking down at his feet as he continued to swing. The fact that the swing was able to hold him was a miracle. He had a huge growth spurt in high school that he stuck out like a sore thumb. Many thought that he was a basketball player with how tall he was. However, he was too bulky to be playing basketball, so he took on football instead. Not something he was planning on continuing on with. His passion was science.
“It feels so surreal, doesn’t it? In a few months, we’ll be going off to college. You better text me, Miguel,” you told him, a pout in your face as you looked over at him.
“Me oyes?”
“Yeah, I hear ya,” Miguel chuckled, nodding his head. Of course he would keep contact with you.
He then looked back down as he stilled himself on the swing. He really needed to tell you before it was too late. It was already too late. You two were headings off to different universities. You’d only see each other during holidays and summer break. But, it could still work out, right?
Well, he’d have to tell you first.
And he was already chickening out.
You two had been through so much together. Had done so many things together. You were his best friend and he was yours. Since kindergarten, you two were inseparable. You were both each other’s first in..a lot of things. You had your first kiss with him. You were his first crush, and you both lost your virginity to each other. That..that was an experience.
Miguel didn’t want to say goodbye. He didn’t want to let you go. But, such was life, right? Plus, you both promised to keep in touch.
And you both were good about keeping promises.
Or so Miguel thought.
“Come on, Miggy. We should start heading back home. It’s getting late. And we need to be up early for tomorrow,” you told him as you let your feet touch the ground, putting your swing to a stop before getting off.
Miguel followed suit with a nod of his head, swinging himself as high as he could before jumping off, landing on his feet with a thud.
“You’re gonna mess up your knees,” you tsked at him, shaking your head as you began to make your way along the dirt path that led to the neighborhood sidewalk.
“Eh, I’ll be okay,” Miguel chuckled as he waved you off.
You both walked side by side, hands teasingly brushing against each other. Fingers threatening to intertwine. You looked up at him, and he was already glancing down at you. You never spoke about your relationship. What were you two, exactly? It wasn’t just friendship anymore. But, neither of you managed to bring it up. You wondered what his thoughts were.
Miguel walked you up the steps to your house, standing in front of you, hands stuffed in his pockets as he shuffled a bit.
“I’ll see you tomorrow,” he told you.
“See you tomorrow, Miguel,” you replied with a smile just before Miguel leaned into you, capturingyour lips in a kiss.
Possibly what would be the last kiss you’d ever receive from him.

Tumblr media
You joined a gym— GYMZ (the name was so peculiar that you wanted to check it out). You joined the gym not because someone told you to but because you just wanted to see how much you could lift. All over your social media, you constantly get videos of women lifting and training, and you joined the gym because you wanted to know how much you could lift.
It turns out that you could lift a lot. On bench press, it was 160. Dumbbells: 70. Squat and deadlift were both 270, and shoulder press was 110. You amazed so many people at the gym, which was funny to you because all of those weights didn’t seem so bad.
And so, you committed to GYMZ. The people at the front desk were always really pleasant and nice— usually, it was either Jongho or Yeosang at the front— and there were so many amenities. So many. They had a swimming pool, tennis court, fitness classes, a spa and sauna, and many more. GYMZ was a bit pricey, but it was worth it.
So, you continued going to the gym. You wanted to be able to lift more and more just for the fun of it. Little did you know that you had attracted the attention of a couple regulars at the gym.
Tumblr media
choi san
You didn’t know this when you first joined GYMZ, but one of the regulars— Choi San— was a bit of a pervert. He was notorious for hitting on every single person that grabbed his attention at the gym.
You grabbed his attention when you were just there for a tour of the facilities. Yeosang was showing you around the weights room. San had just finished his reps on the bench press and sat up for a minute to rest before doing another several reps when he saw you. Well, he saw you from behind at first, and he was mainly looking at your ass. He was practically frothing at the mouth as he watched you walk around, your ass jiggling (you found a pair of those leggings that went viral on social media that hugged your curves just right and you wore them for the first time that day). As you and Yeosang walked around, San followed you from a distance where he could see you, but you couldn’t see him spying on you.
When you turned around, San actually drooled. Those leggings were doing you justice, as was the sports bra you found to keep the ladies from flying everywhere— you know, one of your main concerns while doing any sort of work. It took everything in San to not pounce on you that very first day.
“Psst, Yeo.” Right after Yeosang showed you out and went back to his chair behind the front desk, San slinked over and tried to get the man’s attention. “Hey. Hey, Yeo.”
“What, San?” Yeosang, who couldn’t ignore the irritating boy anymore, glared at San.
“What’s her name?”
“Who?”
“You know, the sexy thing that you just showed around,” San said to Yeosang while licking his lower lip.
“Put your tongue back where it came from you perverted monkey,” Yeosang warned. “Why do you need to know her name, anyway?”
“Just tell me!”
“Y/N, her name is Y/N.”
“Y/N… Yeo, dude, you gotta get her to sign up.”
“I mean, that’s the goal because we want more members… But if you want her to join to fulfill your perverted fantasies, then you can get the fuck out.”
San kept his mouth shut for half a second before whispering, “Okay, but, like, can you imagine how nice it would be to just stick your face in between her breasts—”
“Choi San, get the fuck away from me you fucking pervert!” Yeosang screeched and nearly flung a stapler at San.
After that day, San forgot about your existence— well, he remembered you and your ass for sure, but he didn’t think he would ever get to see you at the gym again. So, when he saw you at the gym a couple days later, he was overjoyed. He wanted to immediately waltz up to you and ask you if you wanted someone to spot you while you bench pressed, but Yeosang got there before he could, and he glared at the man to drive him away.
You, meanwhile, were confused as to why Yeosang suddenly got distracted while explaining how to safely lift. “What’s going on?” you asked him.
“Oh, nothing. Just shooing away a monkey.”
“A monkey…?”
“Yes, a monkey.”
“…Okay then.”
San desperately tried to talk to you that day, but you were completely out of reach since Yeosang was guarding you like a goddamn Doberman. He did manage, however, to get you to notice him while he was doing chin ups— and that was the first time you saw San.
Despite how unbelievably perverted and horny the guy was, he was still a sight for sore eyes. The way his muscles would flex as he moved up and down, and the intense focused look on his face was enough to make anyone swoon. Then, when he got down and wiped the sparking sweat off his forehead with a towel, your entire body tingled. That man was fine.
“Hey, uh,” Yeosang snapped you out of your trance. “I wouldn’t go for him if I were you…”
“Huh? What are you talking about?”
“You’re staring at San, right?”
“Who?”
“That guy,” Yeosang pointed to the man you were staring at. “His name is San.”
“I mean, I wasn’t really staring…” you mumbled. “I just happened to watch him do chin ups.”
“Well, regardless. Don’t go for him even if he comes onto you. He’s a full-blown pervert.”
That warning was enough for you to keep away from him.
A couple weeks later, you had adjusted your schedule so that you were going to the gym every other day. San kept track of your schedule, and he noted when you would come into GYMZ and when you would leave and what you would do while you were there. He observed everything you did so that he could use it to his advantage.
San decided to make his move around your 1-month anniversary at GYMZ, and he made his move right when you were going to do squats. Usually, Yeosang was your spotter, but that was the one day he was sick, and Jongho was busy talking to one of the instructors at the gym— Yunho, was it?— so it was the perfect opportunity for San to interact with you.
“Hey,” San waved and approached you.
“Oh, hi,” your heart fluttered upon seeing the beautiful man.
“Do you need someone to spot you?”
“No, it’s okay,” you declined, suddenly remembering Yeosang’s warning.
“Are you sure? I wouldn’t want you to get hurt,” San said, his voice lowering, his body nearing yours as he stood right next to you.
Next thing you knew, San was behind you. He tried his best to keep a respectful distance from you while spotting you, but your ass was so thick that it was impossible for him to do so. When Yeosang spotted you, he always faced you and spotted you, so having San stand behind you was definitely something else. At least he kept his attention on making sure you wouldn’t collapse under the weights.
After your reps, San asked you, “Do you want to add another ten and do another set?”
“Sure!”
During that second set, you looked across in the mirror and saw that San was focused on spotting you, and the look on his face almost made your arms turn to jelly. He was so fucking hot when he was focused, and you desperately wanted to see that face right in front of you and you desperately wanted to kiss that face all over.
You couldn’t focus after that. The only thoughts revolving in your brain were all about San and how San would be with you in different intimate situations. Maybe San’s pervertedness was contagious…
“I think I’m done for the day! Bye!” you told him after setting the weights back.
Before he could respond, you scurried off to the locker room and did your best to calm yourself down; and you did a good job in doing that (okay, you pleasured yourself in the bathroom, but whatever works, right?), only for all of that effort to have been in vain when you walked out of the locker room and saw San walking out of the men’s locker room.
“Oh, wow, you left so fast I thought you were gone already,” he chuckled.
“Ah, um, I…” you had no idea how to respond.
“The name’s San, by the way.”
San held out his hand for you to shake.
“Y/N.”
You shook his hand, and you were immediately surprised. For someone who did a lot of weights and exercised frequently, he had soft hands. You did, too, but you didn’t think someone like San would pay attention to the health of his skin. Not only were his hands soft, but his face was incredibly smooth and clear, which kind of made you jealous.
“Soft…” you whispered without realizing you said that out loud.
“Thanks,” San said with a smile.
Your face got hot— you could not believe you said that out loud, and you could not believe that he heard you. You took your hand back and cleared your throat before saying, “It was nice to meet you. I’ll see you around!”
San, however, did not want the interaction to stop there. For weeks, he had been so pent up just staring at you and wanting to do unspeakable things to you that he could no longer wait. He grabbed your arm and pulled you towards him.
“Let’s get to know each other!” he said cheerily.
He dragged you to his car and drove the two of you to a nearby coffee shop. You were so dazed until he set a cup of coffee in front of you. He sat across from you and smiled, his eyes turning into crescents.
“How are you liking GYMZ so far?” he asked you.
“It’s nice… Fun…”
“Have you tried any of the classes yet?”
“No, I’m only really interested in weight training.”
“Ah, no wonder I see you in the weights room all the time.”
You felt your face flush. San, still noting every single one of your actions and reactions, pushed further.
“You’re crazy strong, you know that? I mean, squatting 300—”
“Wait, I thought it was only 280,” you interrupted.
“No, I added 30 more pounds. I’m surprised you didn’t notice.”
Your jaw dropped. “I— How did— Woah…”
“You’re so impressive, Y/N. Your strength, body, looks,” San, resting his elbows on the table, laced his fingers together and leaned towards you, his eyes narrowing slightly. “You’re so fucking sexy, Y/N.”
Your entire body got hotter and you were rendered mute. How could he just look you in the eye like that and say something so intense?
“You know what I really want?” San asked.
“What is that…?”
“I want to see exactly how sexy you are underneath those workout clothes. Won’t you show me, please?”
With that silver tongue of his, San brought you back to his place. When you got into his car after leaving the coffee shop, he kissed you so intensely that you felt like you were going to pass out, and on the drive to his place, his hand firmly cupped the inside of your thigh and kept rubbing his hand up and down, turning you on to the max with his caress. Then, on your way inside his place, he was kissing you intensely once again, and you had to clutch his shoulders to keep yourself from melting in his embrace.
Upon entering his room, he took your sports bra and leggings off with such ease— normally, you struggled to get the ladies out of your bra, so it slightly annoyed you how easily this man was able to do it— before pinning you down on his bed. In between his tongue filled kisses, he managed to take his own clothes off. When he breathlessly ended the kiss, he hovered above you, giving you the most glorious view of his chiseled body and thick penis. Meanwhile, you were already completely disheveled under him, which just made him all the more horny.
“Oh, shit, Y/N… I don’t think I can wait,” San said before quickly slipping your panties off.
San rolled a condom on his cock quickly— when did he have the time to grab a condom?— and thrust harshly into your sopping wet cunt. You let out a faint cry when you felt his waist slam into you, and San groaned loudly when he felt the tip of his penis hit your cervix.
“Fuck…” San hissed as he slowly withdrew his dick. “I knew you were going to be tight but I didn’t think it would feel this good… I nearly came.”
You thought San just rushing into you was going to be painful, but waiting for him to move faster was so much worse. You wanted him to just fuck you senseless, but he was taking his sweet fucking time. You grabbed at his wrists and whined, “I need you to fuck me faster.”
“You gotta wait, babygirl,” San moved his hand so that he was caressing your waist, his fingers pressing into your love handles. “It’s not fair to you if I cum so fast.”
San calling you babygirl sent your mind spiraling. Still holding onto your waist, San hovered above you and kissed your neck, leaving light marks along your neck and chest. He left you with a new kiss with every thrust, and the stimulation was driving you crazy. You completely lost it when he began to knead and massage your breast, and then the cherry on top was when he twisted your nipple, which he did while his lips were still connected to yours.
You couldn’t even warn him. You moaned in his mouth as you felt your cunt tremble and convulse. Leaning back, San smiled and said, “See, now can I can fuck you senseless.”
Hands pressed on the either side of you on the mattress, San’s hips bucked sharply, his hips slamming hard into yours. You were still recovering from the high of your orgasm, so you felt the pleasure just shoot through the roof as the sound of the wet squelches of his cock moving in and out of you quickly and of his waist slapping against yours filled the room.
Your arms wrapped around his (surprisingly tiny) waist, and your nails dug into you skin as you suppressed your urge to cum so quickly. Blinking several times to refocus your blurry eyes, you looked up to see the same look of concentration San wore on his face when he was spotting you. Seeing his jaw tense, eyes sharp, and with the new addition of him biting his lower lip— he didn’t do that when he was spotting you earlier— you clenched.
“Oh fuck!” San groaned aloud, his dick trembling.
San’s thrusts slowed down as his cum filled the condom, and it was only after he had finished cumming did he pull out. You, meanwhile, had another orgasm the second your pussy tightened up. You laid on his bed, exhausted, as San removed the condom and threw it away. You thought was going to give you a break, but he seemed like he wanted you to go for one more set. From the corner of your eye, you watched as he rolled a fresh condom onto his still erect, large, throbbing penis, his fingers holding the base.
“Y/N, don’t forget to stretch out after you exercise,” San said with a smirk. “Let’s stretch out your hips, shall we?”
Effortlessly, San spun you around so that you were on your hands and knees the second he knelt on the bed. He let out a low whistle as he ran his hand from your calf to your thigh to your ass. You turned your head back to catch a glimpse of the hungry glint in San’s eye, only to immediately look forward again the second you felt his fingertips press hard into your ass cheek.
“Mmm, yes. This is what I wanted to see,” San hummed as he held onto both of your ass cheeks. “Fuck, your pussy is dripping, babygirl… Let me clean you up.”
Spreading your ass cheeks wide, San brought his lips to your cunt, but rather than eat you out, he blew cold air into you, making your ass and thighs tremble.
“Oh my God, San!” you cried as he continued to tease you, his fingers tracing along your folds.
You heard him let out a low chuckle as he sensed your frustration grow. San, finally allowing himself to begin pleasuring you, began by licking your pussy from your clit to the end of your cunt. You felt his nose press lightly into you while his tongue flicked and played around with your clit, your entire lower body trembling at the sensation. You felt an orgasm starting to near when he pulled away. Before you could complain, he licked his fingers and rubbed your pussy up and down before shoving two of his fingers into you.
His fingers, moving in and out of you, grazed your G-spot several times, your orgasm overtaking you and making you squirt all over him (and you really couldn’t believe the technique of the man for him to be able to do that to you so easily when you yourself struggled with it).
“Fuck! Oh, oh wow,” you cried out as your ecstasy faded into reality. “Oh my… Fuck.”
“We still have more stretching to do, Y/N,” San, who had sat up, leaned over you and brought his lips to your ear. “You don’t want to be sore, do you?”
“I have a feeling I’m going to be more sore after this stretch of yours,” you responded airily.
“You might be right…” San acknowledged as he rubbed the tip of his cock against your folds. “Oh well.”
With that, San’s penis shot straight through you, and you went from your hands to your elbows in no time. You cried out moans and profanities as San ruthlessly hit it from behind. For him, the sight of seeing your ass jiggle every time his pelvis slammed into you was everything. But, he couldn’t keep up that intensity for so long if he wanted to last; so, he’s thrusts lightened up a bit, but when he smacked your ass and moved you towards him instead of him to you, your entire body tingled with excitement. Your cries were pretty much only moans at that point, and you had to bite your lower lip to keep from yelping whenever he slapped your ass.
As San continued to fuck you in doggy position, he placed his hand on your lower back to guide you while his other hand clutched your ass (of course). When his fingers grazed upwards along your spine, you arched your back, earning a hiss of delight from the man. He held onto your hips as he began to speed up. His fingers squeezed your waist and hips the closer he got to cumming as if he was holding on to you to keep his sanity.
And with a loud groan, San came harder than he did the first time. Fucking you from behind did a number on him, honestly. San pulled out and got up to throw up the second filled condom. Panting hard, the two of you collapsed on his bed. San’s arm immediately wrapped around you, his hand resting on— you guessed it— your ass. He kissed you lightly and smiled softly, which was nice, but it made you wonder about the duality of this man.
“You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to fuck you,” he said quietly.
“Oh, I know. I was warned about that.”
“What do you mean?”
“I was told not to interact with you because you’re perverted.”
San’s eyes flew wide open as he asked with shock, “Wha— Who told you that?!”
“Yeosang.”
“Goddammit Yeosang…” San cursed the man under his breath.
You had to bite back a laugh as you told him, “But, to be honest, you’re not as perverted as I thought.”
“What did you think?”
“That you would peep into the locker rooms to look at someone’s naked body or steal their clothes and get off on them.”
“Okay, see!” San cheered up. “I’m not a pervert—”
“But you do stare at me a lot. You know, you’re not as subtle as you think you are.”
“Fine, I’m a little bit of a pervert, then. But, how can I not stare when the view is so sexy?”
With a laugh, you pushed him away lightly and said, “Shut the fuck up, pervert.”
“Make me.”
Challenge accepted. You cupped his face and kissed him with such vigor that San moaned into your mouth that time. His tongue toyed around with yours as it dove into your mouth, and after seconds of waltzing around, you leaned away from each other with a light pant and sigh. San had no words. You successfully shut him up… For about five seconds.
“Can I…” he started.
“Can you what?”
“…Can I stick my face in your breasts? Please?”
“You’re really not helping defunct the pervert rumors with that request,” you pointed out to him.
“I don’t care. I’ll be a pervert because your breasts are worth it.”
Without waiting for a response, San really did shove his face in between your breasts, his exhale tickling your bare skin. He hummed lightly and happily before he brought the hand that was on your ass to your breast. He at first caressed it gently, then he began to knead it with his strong grip. The lightest moan slipped out of your mouth the more he massaged, and your hips started shifting slightly— you were getting turned on all over again.
Then, when he began to suck on your nipple, you lost all self control. You whimpered as your hips began to rub against his slowly stiffening penis.
“San,” you said with a sultry whisper. “I want you in me. Right now.”
“Are you sure? Do you really want this pervert’s cock inside you?” San asked cheekily.
“Yes, San. I do. Just fuck me with that fat cock of yours before I lose my mind.”
San held the back of your head and brought you in for another hungry kiss, his pelvis rubbing up against you.
“Alright, anything for you, babygirl.”

jeong yunho
Yunho had seen you around. You came into the gym at the same time every other day, and when his class was done, he would see you walk right past and head towards the sauna with determined resolve. He would always watch you walk briskly with a light smile on his face, and he would always wonder when you were going to take his class so he could see that smile closer to him.
You never had a reason to interact with Yunho because he was one of the sculpt class teachers, and you only ever spent time in two places: the weights room, and the sauna. And, no matter how hard Yeosang and Jongho tried to convince you to take one of the sculpt classes, you could not be bothered. You were only at GYMZ for the weights.
One day, however, Yunho stopped you. It seemed like he was trying to recruit you for the sculpt classes. He was, but it wasn’t because Jongho or Yeosang put him up to it, but because he wanted some excuse to see you as often as he possibly could— well, you and your mouthwatering curves in those TikTok leggings of yours.
“Hey, you’re Y/N, right?” he asked you as he held his hand out to get you to stop walking.
“Uh… Yeah?”
He leaned against the doorframe and crossed his arms over his chest, accentuating his chest muscles. He tilted his head to the side as he asked with a laugh, “What, are you unsure of your own name?”
“I mean, that is my name, but I meant more like what do you want?”
“Well, I noticed that you haven’t signed up for any classes, so I wanted to know if you—”
“Pass,” you immediately interrupted. “I’m only really interested in lifting, and sculpt is definitely not lifting. Thank you, but no thank you.”
You left Yunho with that and made a beeline for the sauna. Yunho watched you disappear with an amused smile on his face, his heart beating the tiniest bit faster. Fuck, he wanted you more now.
And so, Yunho put in more of an effort to see you. If you weren’t going to come to him, then he could go to you, after all. He found himself in the weights room more frequently at that point, but he would never be able to get the timing right because you would always finish your workout when his class ended. One day, though, you came to GYMZ later than you usually did.
Yunho was busy talking to Jongho about the different class packages and whatever else Yunho could think about to bother Jongho about without the man completely tearing him to shreds for wasting his time. Yet, when he saw you enter the gym, he got distracted, so Jongho lectured him anyway.
“Dude, don’t bother me if you’re just going to space out mid-conversation. I have a lot of work to finish,” Jongho said with a huff as he sat at the desk.
“Sorry! Sorry, I just got distracted. Anyway, all of the classes are full? There’s seriously not enough space for one more person?”
“What can I say, Yunho? You’re a popular one.”
Yunho carried on the conversation with Jongho, who was so busy typing at his desk that he didn’t realize Yunho was staring at you. You were doing a couple reps at the leg press. Yunho could see your body from the side, and he watched as your thighs got thicker and your ass got rounder as you brought your knees to your chest. Every rep you did, Yunho just got more and more turned on. He loved the way your belly and ass would become all round and smooth whenever you brought your knees to your chest. It was only when you finished your sets and stretch out your legs and back did Yunho finally look away from you.
“Hey, Jongho?”
“What is it, now?” Jongho replied to the taller man with an exasperating groan.
“I’m not feeling too good,” Yunho lied. “Can you cancel my classes for the rest of the day?”
“You look fine to me,” Jongho eyed the man as he looked him up and down.
Yunho let out the weakest fake cough. Jongho rolled his eyes as he said, “Fine. Knowing you, you’ll be annoying until I say yes. Go home.”
“Okay, bye!”
Yunho quickly shuffled away from an even more agitated Jongho and towards you. You just finished stretching and were about to head out of the weights room and to the sauna when he approached you.
“Hi again,” he greeted with a smile.
“Hello…”
“You heading towards the sauna?”
You eyed him suspiciously. How did he know that you were going there?
“Whenever you leave the weights room, you walk by my room and towards the sauna,” Yunho read your thoughts and answered. “It looked like you were done with the weights for the day, so that’s why I asked.”
You furrowed your eyebrows as you looked at the man— he looked almost like a puppy, standing before you and waiting, an imaginary tail wagging frantically behind him.
“Yeah, I’m done for the day… Heading towards the sauna now…”
“Cool! Can I walk with you?”
Yunho was not going to take no for an answer. You reluctantly nodded and started your trek towards the sauna. As the two of you walked side by side, you kept glancing at him. At first it was because you were worried he was going to try and make you join his sculpt class (and if it was, then you were going to shove him and run away), but then it was to look at him. Yunho was a fine man– tall, muscular, and attractive as fuck. You actually debated joining his sculpt class just so you could gaze as his beauty, but no. You weren’t going to join a sculpt class for that reason.
“Why do you always go to the sauna after you lift?”
“To relax my muscles. Heat is good for alleviating muscle strain.”
“I know that, but why do you always go? You never skip it anytime you’re here.”
“How do you know that?”
“I told you before, you walk past the room on your way to the sauna. I notice things, Y/N.”
The thought of Yunho watching you and noticing the little things made you body flush with heat, a light blush raising to your cheeks as you walked alongside him, embarrassed.
When the two of you arrived at the sauna, you turned to leave, only for Yunho to grab your arm.
“I wanna join you, if you don’t mind,” he stated.
“Uh… Sure?”
You disappeared into the women’s locker room and changed into a towel. The sauna at GYMZ was gender neutral, and in order to use it, you had to be wearing a towel. You had never actually sat in the sauna with anyone before— because of the time of day you chose, you didn’t have to worry about sharing it.
You entered the sauna first and sat down on the bench in the spot that you usually sat. Moments later, Yunho entered the sauna with a white towel wrapped around his waist. You couldn’t tell if it was because of Yunho’s build or what, but the towel seemed really small on him. Luckily, it was able to cover his waist and a good section of his thighs, you noticed as he sat down.
After a moment or two of sitting in silence, Yunho leaned into you, his knee pressing against yours. His voice was sensually low as he said, “I want you to join my class just so that I have a reason to see you more often.”
His knee rubbed against yours slightly more, and you looked at his thigh to see that there was something throbbing beneath the towel. Your voice was barely above a whisper as you brought your eyes up to his, “You want to see me more often, you say?”
“That’s right.”
“We can still make that happen without me joining the class.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Well, we can meet in the sauna like this…”
“Uh huh.”
Yunho got closer to you, his shoulder pressing against yours.
“Or after the gym closes for the day…”
“Yeah?” He reached for your chin and brought his lips dangerously close to yours while continuing, “Where would we meet if the gym is closed?”
“My place… Or yours…”
“And what would we do there?”
You kept glancing at Yunho’s pink lips, your breathing hitching as you controlled your urge to just pounce on him. “Something…” you breathed out. “Physical.”
His lips pressed against yours softly— it was more like a peck than anything.
“Like that?”
“Yes, but more…”
He kissed you twice, his lips getting more intimate with yours.
“That?”
“More.”
He finally delivered. His kisses got way more passionate, his tongue immediately searching for yours. You gripped the bench the second you felt his hand gripping your breast over the towel. He continued to massage your breast and kiss you, both actions becoming more intense by the second.
You were extremely light-headed when Yunho released your lips, the two of you breathing deeply. You licked your lower lip and bit it after whispering, “Wow…”
The look on your face made it impossible for Yunho to suppress his now extremely hard cock. He stood up and held your hand.
“Come with me. I think we can get a little more physical than that, don’t you agree?”
Yunho, being one of the trainers at GYMZ, took you to the trainers’ private locker room. He locked the door behind him, sat you down on the bench in the room, and disappeared, only to emerge seconds later with a water bottle in his hands. He opened it and handed it to you. The water really saved you because making out in the sauna was honestly a horrible idea. You let out a little exhale after drinking a good amount of water, and before you could take another sip, Yunho took the bottle from you. You watched as he sipped but didn’t swallow. Instead, he grabbed your face with his free hand and kissed you.
The water from his mouth went into yours, the sensation of the cool water and his hot tongue sending shivers down your spine. You swallowed the water and continued to desperately kiss Yunho as if he was made of water.
Your hand tugged at his towel, freeing his very large and erect cock. You continued to make out with him as your hand gently began to stroke from the bottom up. Yunho shivered when you ran your nails lightly around the tip of his penis, prompting him to lean away.
“Wait, let me go grab some condoms.
Some? Some? Yunho stood up and helped you to your feet before running off somewhere. When he came back, he pinned you against the lockers, his arm resting above your head. He opened one of the small lockers at the top and threw in a couple condoms, one remaining in his hands.
“Doll, why are you still wearing the towel? We need to get you out of that immediately.”
You had tucked one end of the towel into your cleavage. Yunho’s finger slipped into your cleavage and tugged the towel ever so slightly so, the tucked corner no longer tucked. Your towel fell to the ground. Yunho’s finger continued going down your cleavage, down your stomach until your belly button before his fingers tiptoed around your waist. He ran his fingers along your love handle, past the small of your back, and to the other side of your body. His hand held onto your waist and tugged at you lightly, willing you to turn around for him.
“Mmm, I love the way your back arches,” Yunho whispered as he tore open the condom packet, his other hand gliding down your back.
His hand resting on your back, Yunho rolled the condom onto his cock and began to rub it along your ass crack. You lowered your body and pressed further into the lockers.
“Yes, doll, just like that,” you heard him mumble. “You’re so wet already… Should I hurry, then?”
You nodded eagerly. His held his dick and pushed it into your pussy. Despite how wet you were, Yunho still had to move slowly because you seriously were not ready for his size. You cried out in painful pleasure as you felt his girth stretch you out. You were already panting by the time Yunho’s cock was fully inside you.
“You took me so well, Y/N,” Yunho whispered as he left several kisses on the back of your neck. “Your tight cunt is squeezing my cock just right…”
His waist, already pressed against yours, pushed further, pressing you further against the lockers. You felt your nipples rub along the louvers of the locker, making you tremble all over, and the feeling only intensified as Yunho began actually moving.
At first, Yunho intended to take his time and move slowly, but seeing the way your ass and thighs jiggle when his hips made contact, he couldn’t take it anymore. He moved quickly, and the tip of his dick hit your cervix with every thrust.
“F-fuck! I’m cumming!” you cried.
Yunho pressed his waist into yours completely, his dick filling you up. He didn’t want you to squirt just yet. Your thighs shook as your vaginal fluid built up within you, and it was only when Yunho pulled out entirely did you squirt. You let out a loud, pleasureful moan as your ass and thighs trembled, your arms barely keeping you in place against the lockers.
“Oh my fucking God, that was so fucking hot,” Yunho said as he sharply inhaled.
You were still recovering from the euphoria of your orgasm as Yunho turned you around, pressing your back against the locker once again. He lifted your leg up and had a firm grasp under your thigh before shoving himself back into you. The locker doors rattled as Yunho fucked you hard and fast, grunts leaving his mouth with every thrust.
“Yunho! It feels so good!” you cried, your head tilting upwards to look at his face.
Yunho’s face flinched as he gazed at your face— your tongue was sticking out of your mouth slightly as you panted, your eyes were half-lidded and a little blurry, and there was a light blush running across your cheeks and nose. That face of yours was enough to make him cum. Yunho bent his head down and kissed— more like ravaged— you, his waist slamming into yours one final time as he came hard. You felt his cock tremble and sperm pool up into the condom. His lips only released yours after he pulled out completely.
“That face of yours, doll… Damn, if looks could kill,” Yunho said with a light chuckle.
As he walked away, you did your best to gain strength in your limbs. You picked up the water bottle from earlier and drank some water while walking around the locker room and towards the dressing room. There were mirrors all around and space on the countertops for duffel bags and what not. You stood before one of the mirrors and observed your face and neck, your fingers brushing along the long gone hickeys San left on your neck the week prior.
“What, are you upset that I didn’t leave any marks?”
You watched Yunho through the mirror as he approached you. He trapped you by holding onto the vanity table. He nuzzled his nose against your shoulder before trailing his tongue from your shoulder up your neck.
“I can leave marks if you would like me to,” he whispered into your ear.
Yunho nibbled lightly on your neck, making you moan softly. His hands traced your curves and rested on your hips as his bites turned into hickeys.
“I want you to fuck me again, Yunho,” you whined softly.
“Your wish is my command, doll.”
Yunho was already prepared— he had a fresh condom on. He bent you over on the wood of the table and wasted no time shoving his cock into you. You let out a loud moan when you felt him hit your cervix again.
“Don’t cum yet, Y/N. Wait for me,” Yunho said with a grunt.
“I— I can’t! Feels too fucking good!”
Yunho let out a light laugh with your response. Despite you saying that, you still did your best to hold your orgasm. Luckily, you didn’t have to wait long— Yunho held your hair and pulled your head back slightly so that you could get a clear view of him fucking you from behind (and so that he could also see your face), and seeing the tears well up in your eyes as you struggled to contain your orgasm did it for him. He bit his lower lip and groaned loudly as he came inside, your orgasm following shortly thereafter.
You remained standing there with your upper body resting on the countertop as Yunho pulled out and walked to the other side of the dressing room to clean himself up.
“Don’t you dare join my class, Y/N,” he said.
“You’re changing your mind all of a sudden? Why?” You asked with a laugh— you were glad he wasn’t going to push his propaganda on you anymore.
Yunho turned around and looked you dead in the eye as he said seriously, “I won’t be able to hold myself back if you were in my class.”
Your face got hot immediately. You looked away abruptly to avoid eye contact, so you didn’t see that Yunho had walked back over to you. He hugged you from behind, his arms wrapping around your waist and chest.
“Okay, so the next time…” Yunho drawled out. “Your place or mine?”
Tumblr media
 “So you’re seriously only going to stick to weights?” Yeosang asked as he spotted you one day.
It’d been a week since you fucked Yunho and two since you fooled around with San, and after both experiences, you considered adding a little aerobic exercise to your workouts. Key word: considered.
“For now. We’ll see what happens.”
You finished your set and dropped the barbell to the ground. Yeosang put the weights away as you walked over to your where your water bottle and phone sat. While you drank your water, you checked your phone to see that one of the two gym boys you had sex with texted you.
“Wanna get some cardio in? ;)”

Will you write about Y/N teasing Hero is Back Wukong about basically being Liuer's dad. He's just so protective and fatherly to this little boy and yea, he's still has a sour personality but it always makes me squeal when I see them interact!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm one of those who can't stand how annoying Liuer, but I tried. Hope you enjoy! Thank you so much for the request.
________________________________________________
Tumblr media
You lost count on how long it’s been since your husband, Sun Wukong, was released from The Mountain Of Five Elements, and the events of the mountain trolls went and passed. You never expected anything like it, but the Great Sage Equal to Heaven… had companions. You didn't know why the pig still followed you, but Liuer and his Shifu were more than welcome.
It's not that you hated the pig… well, kind of, but it mostly had to do with the fact that he tried to send your husband to the afterlife.
“Great Sage? How many-” Liuer’s voice snapped you out of your thoughtless daydream and made you focus on the group walking ahead of you.
“A lot,” was Wukong’s lame reply to the boy’s question. Of course that wasn't a satisfactory answer to the overly curious young monk.
“But what about (Y/n)? Isn't she?”
What are they talking about? You wanted to ask, but you knew that once you asked, you’d regret it.
“No, that's different,” he said, which made you even more curious about what Liuer was asking the Monkey King about. “Why are you only asking me? She's right there, go ask her yourself.”
“But she said you would be able to explain things better than she ever could,” Liuer stated, repeating what you had told him… which made your husband look back at you with a glare you smiled at.
You pretended not to hear what was being said, but Wukong knew that when you paid attention, you could hear him whisper from a mile away with your advanced sense of hearing. You thought it was absolutely adorable how the two interacted, like an unexpected father to his newly found adopted son. You had thought many times of how Wukong would be as a father, since you knew him best and saw past his flaws.
As his wife, you knew Sun Wukong like the back of your hand, and you sided with him through everything. You even sided with him when he went against the Heavens, that's how much you loved your Monkey King. As such, you know when he doesn't like something… and you never get that feeling where Liuer is concerned.
Annoyance, sure, of course annoyance. He is often very annoyed by the boy, but you never got that sense that he’d want to hurt or leave the child. Sure… maybe he’s tried to get rid of the kid before, but when he gave up doing that, you could see that was when he started to get attached to the annoying human monk.
“Adorable,” you snickered to yourself.
“Hey,” you looked at Wukong hearing his shout.
How’d they get so far ahead? I need to stop daydreaming before I lose them. You thought to yourself.
“Hm?” you smiled a bit seeing he was looking at you.
“Why are you walking so slow? Hurry up,” he called for you. Translation: ‘He’s talking too much again and I won’t endure this alone.’
“So, so adorable,” you shook your head with a smile, but walked a bit faster in order to catch up with the men and little boy. It was only then that you noticed exactly where you were and you couldn't help but smile at the memories that came back to you.
“Great Sage, have you ever been to the temple before?” Liuer asked as he saw how happy the Monkey King seemed all of a sudden.
“A few times,” Wukong stated as you caught up to him. “It’s an important place,”
“Really?” Liuer looked up at your husband in amazement before he tilted his head curiously. “How come?”
“It’s where I met (Y/n),” he looked at you with a small smile as he subtly held onto your pinky gently and caressed it. This man just knew all the right things to make your heart want to leap out of your chest. “And where we got married.”
“Wow,” Liuer said as he walked between you both. Wukong was quick to lift your hand so he wouldn't have to let you go as the clueless child walked past you both to walk a few feet ahead where Shifu and Pigsy were.
“So, papa Sunny,” you tried to say seriously, but couldn't help but snicker.
“What?” he looked at you with a raised brow, but shook it off.
“Papa Sunny,”
“Stop that,” he looked at you, unamused.
“What do you mean, papa Sunny?” you tilted your head as you gaze at him with an innocent look, but you couldn't help the laugh. Wukong looked at you with narrowed eyes that questioned your sanity.
“Have you been drinking?” He raised a brow.
“No, you idiot. I'm just admiring how good of a dad you are,”
“Dad? What are you talking about? I am nobody's father,” he stated as he walked off, you were quick to follow.
“Of course you are,” you grinned up at the taller primate.
“No, I'm-” he cut himself off as he stopped walking and turned to look at you. You raised a brow, but when he eyed you from head to toe, and stared from your eyes to your stomach, you blushed profusely. “Are you…?”
“Of course not!” you snapped, placing a hand subconsciously on your stomach. “Are you saying I look bloated?” you questioned him, he rolled his eyes and continued walking.
“No, I was just asking because you seem to think I’m a father,” he glanced at you with a small smirk. “And you’re my only wife.” The way he emphasized you were his, made your heart beat even faster than seeing him look at you like that.
“I meant,” you started, jogging a bit to keep pace with him, “since Liuer is technically your kid,”
“What?” he looked at you with narrowed eyes. “You are crazy.”
“Think about it!” you laughed, hugging his arm so he couldn't escape. “He's your mentee, you take care of him and kinda teach him stuff, you feed him-”
“I feed you too,” he looked at you, “does that make you my kid too?”
“Don't get smart,” you huffed. “You're such a good husband and father.”
“I'm not a father,” he said plainly and smirked a bit, “at least not yet.”
“Stop that,” you tried not to be affected, knowing he was just trying to tease you back, but you couldn't help getting flustered. He chuckled, staring ahead at the pig and the child in question.
“You so are, though,” you grinned at him. “There's no shame that you like the kid, why else would the mighty Great Sage take him on in the first place?”
“I wasn't thinking, and I had no choice,” he shook his head, “mostly because he freed me from that mountain.”
“And the journey to get the babies back to their families brought you closer,” you sighed dreamily as you pleased your head against his arm.
“Would you stop that?” he tried to pull away, but you held onto him. “Let go, woman.”
“I don't want to,” you looked up at him with a smart ass smirk, which made him give up with a sigh.
“I am not his father,” he finalized.
“Okay,” you gave up, which made him look at you suspiciously.
“Okay?” He raised a brow.
“Okay,” you gave a nod, looking ahead. He stared at you for a while, not trusting you at that moment. He knew you way better than that, you’d never give up an argument like this so easily… he’ll be keeping a closer eye on you for a while…
Little did he know, that was mostly where he had lost.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It happened when he least expected it, when you guys had just settled down after putting up camp for the night. He couldn't stop caressing your cheek and grooming your hair, things you always thought were absolutely adorable.
“Hey, dad?”
“What is it, Liuer?” he asked before he tensed and looked at Liuer, only to see what looked like Liuer shape-shift back into Pigsy.
“I KNEW IT!” You laughed, holding your stomach as he stared at you with an unamused expression.
“That's not funny,” he said, very unamused.
“Whatever you say,” you couldn't stop snickering at his expense.
“You know what?” you looked at him just as he dropped the logs and moved towards you.
Uh oh… you immediately sobered up.
“What are you doing?” you chuckled nervously as you backed up three times for every step he took towards you.
“If you’re so hung up on me being a father, come here,” that made you stop laughing and start running. “Get back here!” he said as he ran after you.
“Nope!” you yelled, not stopping, but your grin said you were still happy… regardless of him threatening to impregnate you and make himself a dad on purpose.
Should kids sleep in their parents bed? It was always going to be a bone of contention. Eddie was to the core, a clinger, he wanted to be in physical contact with you constantly. So you knew from the get go it would be no better (if not worse) with your children. After reading all the parenting books your brain could handle before imploding, you decided you didn't have a strong opinion either way on whether kids slept with you or not.
However, once you had Sloane, both of you were so besotted, it wasn't even a question. As if meant to be, she fitted perfectly between you and Eddie in bed. Every night you would all get cosy and form the Sloane Sandwich. A perfect recipe with a slice of mom and dad and in between was the filling of Sloaney Bologna (a nickname coined by Eddie that neither you or your daughter were too thrilled about). Both of you were infatuated with the perfect little cherub you made together and just wanted to be near her always. Sloane could happily snuggle against her dad with you being big spoon and still able to keep your arm over her and Eddie's torso. It was ideal.
Then Iris came along aka Eddie's clone and shadow. Naturally, she inherited her dad's clinginess as well as everything else. Unlike Sloane, who just slept happily in the middle enjoying both parents. Iris insisted on clinging to Eddie like a tiny curly headed spider monkey. Now it was a slice of you, Sloaney Bologna and then Iris insisted on being so close to Eddie, she was more like a condiment smeared on top of him rather than an extra filling. For the first time in your relationship, your sleeping position of having your arm draped around Eddie's stomach was no longer possible. Instead he just had a little Iris laying right on top, a mini Munson stack. But, you couldn't be angry, not when they looked so cute. Little duplicates of each other who'd become inseparable.
It worked out that you had two years between each daughter. So by time you were pregnant with Maeve, the bed was full with four year old Sloane and two year old Iris, plus you and Eddie. Realising there's quite a difference between that and just a baby and a two year old in the bed. Iris was now less of a little mini Munson stack on top of Eddie but rather a lump. All of that mixed with your baby bump, meant it was time to have the talk with Eddie.
'Baby, we can't all fit in the same bed anymore,' you broke it to him.
He gasped like you had suggested something outrageously cruel, as if you now wanted your kids to sleep in cages.
'But we're a Munson sandwich?!' He huffed.
'Well, you've overfilled the sandwich,' you raised a finger at him, stopping him from sniggering at the innuendo. 'I am the top piece of bread that can no longer balance on top! Between you, your clinger, Sloaney and now the bump, your beloved wife and carrier of your children is practically falling out of bed.'
Over the years, you had learnt using carrying his children was a sure fire way to win with Eddie. He groaned like a teenager, knowing you'd used the secret weapon.
'Fiiiine. We'll get a bigger mattress, sweetheart!'
Your jaw dropped.
'Eddie! That is not what I was suggesting!'
He held his hand up in protest.
'Well, sweets, you should've known better than to have ever let me have my way and have the girls in the bed. We're a bed sharing family now. Deal with it. We shall be getting a bigger mattress!'
By the end of the week you were the proud owner of a mattress that seemed to be the size of every other one you've owned, stitched together. Yet, Eddie would soon learn it would not be enough. Nothing was a match for the terror of Maeve Munson.
'I don't know how, but I know you've taught her to do this,' he accused, outraged that a baby kicked him so hard he had a black eye.
After you dealt with Iris clinging to your husband for the last two years, he was now getting a taste of his own medicine. Although, Maeve was far more ruthless than her sister, even as a newborn.
'You were in her way,' you smirked, 'she thought you were trying to steal her Mommy.'
'You were mine first,' Eddie grumbled from the other side of the bed, sore eye and all.
Now Sloane was six, she wasn't a permanent feature in the bed but her absence did not create more space. Maeve simply turned it into a buffering zone. If her dad were to encroach on the space, little limbs would kick ferociously to keep him at bay.
One night you had even been awoken by a wail from Eddie.
'AHhh you better be sure that you didn't want anymore kids, Y/N because Cerberus Munson has just crushed all hope of it!!'
To go with his now sore balls, he got a hard shove from yourself.
'Cerberus Munson? Absolutely not. That nickname is vetoed. Far worse than Sloaney Bologna. If Maeve is Cerberus, that means I'm hell!!'
He knew he'd stitched himself up with that one so sulked in silence the rest of the night; bringing you your favourite breakfast in the morning.
As you sat on your bed, eating your apology breakfast, alongside a black eyed and tender balled, Eddie, you strategised. Despite how funny it was, there was no denying your precious, protective Maeve was a health hazard. It would be a real shame to injure him further considering you'd married a man with such a pretty face and balls. So, a new arrangement was made. No longer were you and Eddie the slices of bread in the Munson Sandwich. It now went a slice of Iris, a filling of dad, a filling of mom and then a slice of Maeve. It meant for the first time in four years, you and Eddie could actually fall asleep on each other like you had your whole relationship. Then, on the occasion Sloane joined, she could slip perfectly in between you just as she had when she first arrived.
Even as your children grew older, the Munson Sandwich was still beloved. On sad days or chilly nights, the Sandwich would reassemble. It didn't matter if they were adults with their own children, Eddie and you were going to cuddle your girls like they were still your little babies.
Crowley does not have memory loss.
I very disagree with the Crowley has memory loss from the Fall theory, and I want to enumerate my points.
"He doesn't remember Furfur or Saraqael!" you say. Do you remember everyone you went to high school* with, everyone you ever did group projects with? *or elementary school if you're under 20 He probably worked with a lot of different angels on nebulae, and fought alongside a lot of different demons-to-be in the war. Look at the scene we saw with Aziraphale. You just know she wasn't paying attention to what Aziraphale said his name was and was going to have to ask when they met again. Angel!Crowley has got ADHD hyperfixations and the people around him aren't as interesting. Barely worth acknowledging. Meanwhile, he himself is quite memorable to others. (Not to mention highly-ranked in heaven's hierarchy.) What did Furfur say? "You used to jump on me back, little monkey in the waistcoat." Who's the more memorable being in that encounter? The (literal?) monkey hopping around jumping on people or whatever poor sod he's hopping on? As someone who stood out in school as a weirdo, I myself have more than once had someone hit me up on Facebook years later acting like we'd been friendly in school, and experienced that exact "??? Who are you?"
He remembers creating gravity. Vaguely, you say? Sure, but it was a long time ago. While all told Crowley and Aziraphale have excellent memories, they are not perfect. See them not able to recall who was responsible for the Reign of Terror only ~200 years ago.
"I helped make that nebula" he also recalls.
Crowley easily recognized the Metatron saying he'd last seen him as a floating head. As an angel with a lot of questions for God, he would have talked to the Metatron all the time before the Fall.
Reiterating above point, in Uz, they remember trying to get through to God to ask their questions.
He knows how to sneak into heaven and remembers his passwords.
He remembers going into battle.
He remembers frightening the cherubs with the threat of Extreme Sanctions.
In Eden, Aziraphale didn't know what name they were going by, so had to ask, but note that Crowley neither asked Aziraphale's name nor did Aziraphale introduce himself. "We've been talking for millions of years," he told Maggie and Nina. Perhaps he was being hyperbolic, but perhaps not. Before "the Beginning" when the Earth itself was created there was an untold amount of time where the angels were all getting things ready and then warring amongst themselves. I think it's clear that one scene we saw was not their only encounter before the Fall, and Crowley remembers his prior acquaintance with Aziraphale. Mightn't he have had some hesitation in approaching the Guardian of the Eastern Gate if he didn't already know him? But no, he slithers right up that wall and starts a conversation with a tone of familiarity.
Again, in Uz, they both acknowledge how they knew each other in heaven.
And finally, if you're thinking of Neil Gaiman saying how Crowley is an unreliable narrator regarding the circumstances of his Fall, everything he says that seems contradictory can be just as easily explained by lies, denial, rationalizations, equivocations, half-truths, etc. At no point does he say he doesn't remember falling or even why it happened. He just laments the injustice of it.
ʟᴜꜰꜰʏ’ꜱ ᴀʟᴘʜᴀʙᴇᴛ.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
One Piece Fluff Alphabet: LUFFY.
CW - Luffy being Luffy and a little goofy, nothing serious or demeaning!
A/N - It’s spring break for me! I love spending time with family and friends so I might just be more inactive than I already am. Don’t worry though, Zoro’s is coming soon.
Tumblr media
ʟ - ʟɪᴛᴛʟᴇ ᴏɴᴇꜱ: ʜᴏᴡ ᴀʀᴇ ᴛʜᴇʏ ᴀʀᴏᴜɴᴅ ᴄʜɪʟᴅʀᴇɴ?
Let’s be honest here: Luffy is a child himself. His childlike sense of wonder and massive amount of pure energy already leaving him seem much younger than he actually is.
We’ve already seen how Luffy is around children on different occasions. Whether he’s kind and gentle, loving and reassuring, or his same rambunctious self he can relate to a child pretty easily. The young emperor of the sea won’t treat a child like their some whining creature. Rather, he views everybody the same and won’t discriminate no matter who you are.
All in all, he’s fun and friendly with children! And if their his own in the near future, he’ll do everything in his power to support and protect his children.
ᴜ - ᴜɢʟʏ: ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴀʀᴇ ꜱᴏᴍᴇ ᴏꜰ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ʙᴀᴅ ʜᴀʙɪᴛꜱ?
We all know some of Luffy’s little habits. He tends to get loud at times where it’s no good. He eats whatever he wants, whenever he wants. But, his worst habit is more like a flaw.
Luffy is a selfish person. Ever since the day he proclaimed to his brothers that he was going to be king of the pirates. He’s been taking what he wanted since the beginning of his journey. Yes, it’s safe to say Monkey D. Luffy is a selfish person. But, he’s not a selfish person for selfish reasons.
He does what he wants, but still helps other people. Kingdoms, countries, islands. It doesn’t matter who it is he will help them. Selfishly. And that’s what makes Luffy so great.
Is it a habit? Honestly, I thought this was better than saying he only takes 1 bath per week.
ꜰ - ꜰɪᴀɴᴄE: ʜᴏᴡ ᴅᴏ ᴛʜᴇʏ ꜰᴇᴇʟ ᴀʙᴏᴜᴛ ᴄᴏᴍᴍɪᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ?
How do they feel about commitment?
Luffy is a go with the flow kind of person. He doesn’t do plans all that well, and can barely keep himself from straying off to the other pay. So, having a ring on his finger that’s meant to stay there until the day he dies is not too appealing to him.
Don’t get him wrong, he loves you like crazy! He’d never even consider cheating on you. But being in a relationship, “tied down” he’d say, is something he would have to get used to.
But- in the end- he’d grow to love the simple ring that’s snug on your fingers. A symbol of the love between you two, and the adventure of life you’ll share together.
ꜰ - ꜰɪɢʜᴛ: ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅ ᴛʜᴇʏ ʙᴇ ᴇᴀꜱʏ ᴛᴏ ꜰᴏʀɢɪᴠᴇ?
Luffy is Luffy. He wouldn’t change who he was for a second, even if he was going to die. His emotions are his and he will be who he is without any hesitation.
However… Luffy tends to say and do things when he’s angry that he wouldn’t mean. Remember Water 7? That fight between him and Usopp was powerful. The emotions set free and eventually drove Usopp away.
It might take a while to forgive Luffy. But he really does care about you and regrets what he said in the moment. After he explains himself and proves that he's sorry, I think it’d be pretty to forgive him.
ʏ - ʏᴜᴄᴋ: ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴀʀᴇ ꜱᴏᴍᴇ ᴛʜɪɴɢꜱ ᴛʜᴇʏ ᴡᴏᴜʟᴅɴ’ᴛ ʟɪᴋᴇ, ᴇɪᴛʜᴇʀ ɪɴ ɢᴇɴᴇʀᴀʟ ᴏʀ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ᴘᴀʀᴛɴᴇʀ?
What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in their partner?
In general, I believe that Luffy wouldn’t like someone who’s afraid and cowardly. Maybe just cowardly, seeing as you can be afraid and still be courageous. Thinking back to multiple examples of him saying he doesn’t like people who act like scaredy cats.
In a partner, I think he wouldn’t like- or would either deter them from him in general- would be not pursuing a dream. Luffy takes pride in his dream that he’s been working towards since he was a boy. And he respects those who have a dream that they’re going for, too. So if his partner won’t follow their heart, he would simply feel disappointed and discouraged with them.
Luffy’s goals are very precious. To both him and his crew. He’s willing to sacrifice everything for your dreams, so why not follow them and achieve what you’ve always wanted?
Hey there! Could you please make headcanons of the straw hats with a reader who's a marine admiral who is upset at the corruption of his fellow marines, deserts the marine and immediately accept Luffy offer to join his crew"since your not a marine you should join my crew" "ok sure" I imagine Luffy being over the moon and the others freaking out
Please use either male or gender neutral pronouns
Bye Family, Hello Family (Luffy x brother!reader)
A/N: Here we go! Another Defected Marine joins the dark side (the best side). Am I the only one who feels conflicted about Garp? Idk like he seems paternal and caring but at the same time he let his son die? But at the same time it was his job? But at the same time he did die? But at the same time he warned him? But at the same time he is one of the few good marines XD
“Im tired of this Luffy,”
Both Luffy and his brother sat together at the top of a cliff, the Sunny anchored beneath them as Luffy’s crew explored and entertained themselves around the small island they had rendezvous at; Luffy glanced at the Marine next to him. He turns to look a him, his head tilted, confused at his brother’s words
“Grandpa was wrong; this isn't what he made it out to be, Luffy. I hate it; the Marines are a farse filled with corruption.”
Luffy looks away from Reader slightly while listening to his words
“The offer to join me still stands; Monkey D Reader and Monkey D Luffy on the same crew, Shishishi.”
Reader cracks a smile at his brother’s words
“I don’t know Luffy, what about Grandpa? I wanted to make him proud.”
“You would probably make him more proud by actually doing what you want.”
Reader shrugs
“I’m not sure, Luffy; somehow, it feels like im giving up, but I really can’t take how those assholes treat pirates and others who stand against them. They always say how pirates are nothing but scum, thieves, and murderers, but aren’t we marines the same? The only difference is that they do it for this so-called justice. Pirates can have hearts, and they are living beings just like the next person. You and Ace are some of the kindest people out there with just as kind crews; even Sabo and the revolutionaries are incredibly kind, fighting against how inhumane the government is.”
He listened to Reader speak as a smile spread across his face
“So…You’re thinking of taking me up on my offer then?” He asked, raising a brow, waiting for an answer
Reader huffs out a laugh
“Luffy, all you heard from that was ‘im considering your offer’?”
Luffy laughed as well and nodded
“I also heard that you think im pretty amazing, shishishi.”
“That is just not what I said, Luffy!”Reader exclaimed, swinging at his brothers just for the latter to easily avoid the punch directed at him
“Come on, you’ve always wanted to help people, give freedom to everyone, and that’s what I want too! I want to be the Pirate King because he is the freest of all! You aren’t giving up if you join me! You’ll still be able to achieve your dream!”
He bites his lip, thinking over his brother's words
Luffy stayed silent; his gaze never left your face as he watched you think the possibilities over. He had a soft smile on his face as he waited excitedly for his brother to join him on his adventures
“Is your crew okay with this?”
“Of course they are! They trust my decision-making completely and know how much I care about you. I made them all promise to be nice to you and treat you just like they would me.”
“Luffy! You said that as if you were sure I would say yes!”
“Well, aren't you?” He smirked with his usual bright smile
“Besides, I already told them before I asked you; they’d said you were more than welcome to join us.”
“You are something else, Monkey D Luffy.”
“Shishishi, of course I am. im the next Pirate king,” he exclaims confidently
“So...You joining? You can't leave me waiting for too long, you know; I've already made plans for you and everything.”
Reader smiles, sliding off his Marine jacket and folding it, placing it on the cliff next to them, and turning to face his brother
“Where to next Captain?”
They let out a surprised gasp as, rather than words, Luffy responds by wrapping his rubber hands around him and pulling him off the cliff with him
“H-Hey! Im already regretting this!” Reader screams
Luffy just laughs as he pulls his brother off the cliff
"It's too late now!! You can't back out now!! You accepted my deal, so now you have to stay with the crew! Shishishishi”
Tumblr media
Feel like I made it a bit confusing in between Luffy’s and Reader’s dialogues, I feel like you can’t tell who’s who, what do yall think. Also I keep avoiding using you, and I don’t even know why?? Maybe because I alreadys tarted writing without you but I feel like it would make the stiry writing smoother
Hello Yuurei! Hope you having a good day/night!
Is there any canon indication that Lucius is Treins familiar?
If there is, then can a dog be considered a familiar? I am confused about the animal/pet/familiar/dire beast thing in twisted.
Like, are the bats of Lilia canonically his familiars? I believe you posted that no, it wasn’t. Or it was someone else that records Twst info, I don’t remember the name tho, srry.
Where is the line between Familiar and Pet? Is it because the animal has a certain level of magic or sentience?
Because. Crows as familiars? Makes sense, they are naturally very smart and are scary in their own right. Cats? Yeah makes sense, they are natures human manipulator with their cuteness.
I am willing to bet jumping spiders can be familiars, for their size, they are pretty darn smart. And are just the Cutest!!! Jamil would be terrified if Yuu actually was a beast tamer with many familiars and send spiders to haunt him.
If you are able to respond, thank you very much. If not, it’s okay, I really don’t want to put more questions about info you so carefully craft and analyze.
Because god damn, you make GODS work along side many other blogs to translate and give your own analysis of characters that I just. (⊙_⊙)(°ロ°) ! Cant express with words.
Hello hello!! Thank you so much for this question! You are very much too kind m(_ _)m And I love your amazing ideas!
We do have canonical confirmation that Lucius is Trein's familiar!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Dog familiars might not be mentioned in the game? But they were mentioned by Yana! In a tweet from earlier this year she said,
"In the early stages of (Kalim's) character design he had a small monkey for a familiar. Other students had their own direbeasts or familiars as well, including owls, penguins, puppies, etc."
Tumblr media
And the lines between pets / familiars / direbeasts are a very interesting point!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Trein himself says that Lucius is his familiar, when Rook asks if Lucius is Trein's pet Trein says yes, and then calls himself Lucius' owner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whereas Trein seems devoted to Lucius, Lucius has been bought off at least once, intentionally hiding from Trein in a scheme with Ruggie and getting paid in tuna for his cooperation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Crowley calls Grim a familiar Grim insists he would never serve a human, so it seems the Twst interpretation of a familiar involves a degree of servitude? Perhaps Lucius participating in Animal Linguistics classes for Trein is a part of their familiar/owner arrangement? (not confirmed in game)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Riddle never directly calls Grim a familiar he does say that, without his magic, he is "naught but a pet cat" (Grim denies being anyone's pet anything).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What direbeasts are seems equally vague in the game, and most of what we know possibly comes from Idia in Book 6.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He explains that Grim is a direbeast with high blot density that has been magically fused with "some kind of animal." (In a separate scene he explains that he has heard of "ultra rare cases where (phantoms) manage to blend in with direbeasts," which seems like it may be leading to something? But maybe not!)
Overall the pet/familiar/direbeast borders seem a little blurry, and Grim has been labeled as all three at different times by different people. And that's not all!
Tumblr media
Grim is also referred to as a monster as early as the Prologue, with the characters using the English word "monster" (as can be heard in the audio), which might be connecting back to a theory related to Ortho.
Tumblr media
And in Book 6 Crowley, audibly, calls Grim a monster, but the word "direbeast" has been included as a hidden meaning. So is the game using the words "monster" and "direbeast" interchangeably? Or is this meant to be a reference to how we don't really know what Grim is yet? Or does Crowley actually know he is a direbeast, but is still calling him a monster?
Tumblr media
And another interesting point arose in the official English-language translation of the Heartlabyul manga: Grim originally calls himself "a man who will become a great mage" (in both the manga and the game), but I don't think the kanji used (男) is meant to be confirming that Grim considers himself human. The English language is more limited (man = humankind or male human), which is probably why the EN server had Grim call himself a "spellcaster," instead.
But the manga is being localized by a different company (VIZ Media) and they wrote this line as, "I am a monster who will become a great mage," in what might be the only instance of Grim choosing a label for himself (but I still need to check the rest of his in-game dialogue to be absolutely sure).
3. The "bats = Lilia's familiars" theory was not me! :> This is my first time hearing it, and while it seems entirely possible, I have not come across anything in the game to confirm or deny it yet!
Tumblr media
While Lilia's bat motifs seem to have been largely inspired by a bat-based goon of Malficent's from the animated Sleeping Beauty movie, I occasionally see conversations about why, out of all the motifs available for Yana to choose from, did she go with that one in particular?
The best explanation I have found (and this is unofficial), was: it might be a pun. In Japanese, the word for bat (コウモリ) is pronounced very similarly to 子守, which is close in meaning to "babysitting."
(Yana is a very big fan of puns and wordplay and it comes up a lot in her work, i.e., the Broom/Bloom Birthday series).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. You might be right that the difference between the three has something to do with sentience and magical ability! Idia comments on both after declaring that Grim is a direbeast, but if "pets" are at the lower end of the "sentient/magical" scale, for example, I am not sure how they differentiate between direbeasts and familiars in the Twst universe. Those who are willing to enter into servitude vs. those who are not? (This is purely conjecture)
5. I love your idea about jumping spiders! Spiders seem largely absent from the game, but they also do not really come up in too many Disney movies (I think?), so that might be why!
Thank you again for this question! I apologize for only offering more questions in response--this is all so interesting to think about!
The Moment When Proposing Went Wrong. (Various Strawhats x Reader)
Tumblr media
Characters Featured: Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Nico Robin, Nami, Vinsmoke Sanji, Usopp, Franky Content: SFW!! Fluff, proposals gone wrong (but it all ends up fine in the end), GN Reader. Some angst but mostly fluff and maybe even a bit of crack. Some characters may be a bit OOC. Not edited so there will be grammar mistakes.
Summary: Times with the strawhats where the proposals didn't go as planned. A/N: Took me a bit to write but I'm finallly finished with this. Please tell me if I need to add any other warnings. I'm trying to get back into writing after a year or two of no writing at all. So enjoy these short scenarios with some of the strawhats as well as the reader's mishaps. I'll be making a masterlist soon as well!! Once more, Enjoy!! Scenarios under the cut!
Monkey D. Luffy
It's night time on The Thousand Sunny, there is no sign of any clouds at the moment which makes it the perfect time for Luffy to put his plan into action. Ever since an event from a month ago, Luffy has been wanting to propose to you. At first he didn't really know what marraige was, well he knew of it just not exactly how it worked, and it never really came to his mind in the first place. Upon asking both Robin and Nami about it, he learned more about marraige, specificially about how it worked and how someone normally asks someone to marry them. They also taught him one important aspect of asking for someone's hand in marraige is the usage of a ring and how it is used when proposing to someone. Can you guess what happened next? Well both Nami and Robin dragged Luffy with them in order to search for the ring for him to use though with Luffy still being a bit confused with it all. Was it planned? No. No it wasn't. He just figured it would just happen, he'd do it when he felt as if the time was right, and that time seems too be tonight as you and Luffy are laying down on the deck just stargazing with eachother as well as talking about who knows what. He just gazed at you as you pointed up at the sky pointing out different constellations and telling him facts about them. "Oh!! Look!! There's the Big dipper! That one used to be my favorite when I was a child, but its not anymore." You said, your eyes sparkling as you talked. Luffy shifted and sat up on the dock, not taking his eyes off of you as he gained a wierd feeling within his heart. Just seeing you here beside him, fills himself up with so much love that something within him is telling him that now is the time. You looked beside you and blinked upon realizing that your boyfriend is now sitting up. "Is everything alright Luffy?" You questioned him with a tilt of your head as you sat yourself up. You become worried for him as normally he isn't this silent. He just shook his head saying an "I'm fine." before taking your hands into his, causing a light blush to dust your cheeks. He seemed to stare off into space for a moment, gripping onto your hands as he thought about something. "Are you sure? We can go and head to sleep now if you're tired?" You suggested which gave you a shake of a head in response. "No No, there's just something I need to ask you." You hummed and nodded your head saying "Go on then, take your time and say it." You gave Luffy a gentle smile, never having seen him act like this before. Luffy took a deep breath before he began to talk, saying what he really wanted to say. "Well you see, when we first got into this relationship... I didn't really know what I was doing, but you helped guide me through it and get the ropes of it." He paused for a few moments, never really having been one who does great when it comes to romance but he'd doing his best. "Everyday my love for you continues to grow, and for the past month now I've been thinking about asking you something ever since I learned more about it." He stopped talking and then looked around in his pockets searching for the ring he always brings with him. He then looked at you and showed you the ring before saying a quick "Will you marry me (Y/N)??" as he looked right into your eyes. You sat there for a moment processing everything before letting out a gasp and nodding your head quickly saying "Of course! I'd love to marry you Luffy!" This caused Luffy's eyes to widen as he jumped into the air, throwing his hands into the air as well. As he did so he shouted a "YES!! I'M SO HAPPY!" though as he did so, he felt something fly right out of his hand. What flew out of Luffy's hand? The ring of course! You both turned and froze as you both just watched the ring just fall into the water, never to be seen again. You were just greatful that Luffy didn't try and chase after the ring... wait... you spoke too soon. Luffy did indeed dart over and tried to jump into the water after the ring. Luckily you were fast enough and were able to grab his legs and pull him back onto the deck shouting "LUFFY!! NO!"
Luffy whined as he fell to the ground saying "But the ring! I was told that you needed a ring in order to propose." You chuckled and shook your head as you sat down beside him, running a hand through his hair. "Luffy, I don't need a ring. Just you being here is just fine." You smiled at him as he just turned and pulled you into a hug. "If you say so, but Nami and Robin helped me pick that ring! How am I supposed to tell them that I threw it into the sea?" He questioned as he refused to let you go. You hummed, and looked up seeing Nami and Robin having of walked onto deck after being woken up by screams. You chuckled saying "Well, I guess you can tell them now." Causing Luffy to look behind him and gulp before trying to hide. Let's just say he was scolded a lot that night, and now owes Nami even more money.
Roronoa Zoro
Zoro had it all planned out, go to a specific spot on an island he had learned about and propose. Simple as that. Though, its turning out not to be as simple as he thought it would be. He thought he had learned the path to the area, but he thought wrong. It doesn't help that he had lost the map of the island he was using. So that leads you to the pradicament you two are in now, you just following Zoro as he grumbles walking many different directions in order to hopefully get to the destination before next year. "Where are we even going Zoro?" You had questioned your boyfriend, getting agitated due to the fact you've both been walking for hours. You're pretty sure that the sun is about to rise, but the trees cover so much of the sky that you can't really pinpoint it out as you both traverse through the darkness of the trees, but everything seems to be lighting up the more you walk. "I can't tell you that." He had responded, looking around before turning to the right. "Why can't you?" "I just cant." "Why not." "I can't tell you why?" "How long have we even been walking?" "I don't know." "Are we stuck out here?" ".... Maybe." You both bickered back and forth before Zoro stopped walking. "Damnit... where the fuck is it." Zoro said, crossing his arms over his chest as he seems to be quite annoyed with the fact they havent gotten anywhere. "Maybe we should go back to the ship Zoro, it doesn't seem like we're going to be getting to where you want us to go to." You sighed, at this point you just want to go back to the Thousand Sunny and go to sleep, but who knows if that's going to happen anytime soon. Zoro looked at you and said "No, we're going to find this damn place even if I have to start chopping down these trees in order to do so." You just shook your head and crossed your arms saying "Look Zoro, I'm tired. Can we just go back to the ship? I really need some sleep." There's tension and annoyance in your voice as at this point you just want to head back. Zoro looked at you as if he was thinking for a few moments "Could we walk for a few minutes more? If we don't find it by then, we can go back to the ship. I promise." He said, looking at you just hoping you'd say yes. You just shook your head no before saying "No Zoro, a few minutes with you will turn into a few hours. Why do you want to be out here anyways?" Zoro sighed and begun to scratch the back of his head as he begun to spoke, "It's just... ugh... I want to propose to you properly... and in order to do that I have to do so in the perfect place. I heard of a place on this island and thought it would be the perfect place to propose but I guess I won't get to propose to you in the perfect place I wished to do so. It makes me so angry and disapointed and I fucking hate it." He explained, looking away from you. Your eyes widened in shock at his works before you chuckled and shook your head, walking over to him and placing your hands on his face in order to make him look at you. "Listen Zoro, wherever you are at would be the perfect place. I don't care where you propose to me as long as you're here." You then pecked his nose and waited for a response. Zoro thought for a moment before he sighed and said, "You know I'm not good with words, so will you just marry me please?" Looking at you right in the eyes as he waited for an answer. "Yes, of course Zoro. I'd be glad to marry you. Now let us go back to the ship." You said, humming as you interlocked your hand with his, both heading back to the ship. What you didn't know, is that you've both been walking around the place Zoro wanted to take you to. Only if you turned left and kept going straight and you would of immediately found it.
Nico Robin
Everything seemed to be going to plan. Today was the day you were going to propose to Robin, ask her to be your wife, your forever. You were so excited as you had everything planned out. You'd invite her to have a nice dinner in the aquarium, and after that is dessert. Within the dessert would be a ring, that she'll find while eating and hopefully question about it. Then BAM you'll pop the question and hopefully she'll say yes. With the help of Sanji, the food and the cake had been made. A table has been set up in the aquarium for the dinner diguised as a little date night. Everything will be perfect, you just have to go fetch your girlfriend. So, you go out in search for her somewhere on the ship. It shouldn't take you long to find her, you hope so at least. You had soon found yourself walking around the ship trying to find her, soon finding her in one of the hallways on the ship. "Robin!" You called out, causing her to look over at you a smile on her face upon seeing her partner. You rushed over and gave Robin a quick hug before grabbing her hand and leading her towards the aquarium. "So, where are you taking me all of the sudden?" Robin asked as she let you drag her wherever you're dragging her to. "To the aquarium!! For a date night! We havent had one in a while so I put something together for us." You explained to her, excited yet there still remains a bit of a nervous feeling in your heart. "You didn't have to Y/N." She said, squeezing your hand. You just huffed out a "But I wanted to! I want to have a romantic date with you so I just figured that I'd bring it to the ship." You nodded your head, not noticing the smile on her face as she watches you. Soon you both get into the aquarium seeing the room decorated into a more romantic setting, the food already out and ready to be eaten by you both. You went over and pulled out a seat saying "For you madam." Winking at you as Robin giggled saying a "Thank you." Robin then sat down, scooting her chair in and you did the same on the opposite side of her. "Dig in!!" You said as you both began to eat as well as talk about different topics. Soon enough it was time for dessert, which means its time for her to find the ring and then you'll propose. "Excuse me for one moment, I have to go fetch dessert." You said and swiftly left, grabbing the cake from where you hid it and then you brought it out and placed it on the table between you both. "I made the cake, well with some help from Sanji, but I did most of the work!" You said, cutting the pieces of the cake out and giving her the slice with the ring in it. "It looks lovely, thank you for this." Robin said, causing a blush to appear on your face as you responded with a "No problem, I'd do anything for you." You both begun eating the cake, you nervously eyeing her and the cake every now and again to see if she had found the ring yet as well as any reaction. Though as time went by and you both finished your slices you just sat there for a moment and looked down at your lap. You just thought to yourself "Did I even remember to put the ring in the cake...?" "Did I give her the wrong slice?" "Where did the ring go?" and spaced out in the process. Robin had noticed this and went and grabbed your hand, knocking you out of your thoughts. "Is everything alright? Something on your mind?" You just sat there for a few moments before asking "Did you feel anything in the cake you ate...?" Robin thought for a few moments before saying "Yeah but I just assumed it was a nut or something, why?" Your eyes just widened as you took a deep breath saying "I put a ring in the cake... wanting to propose by you noticing a ring in your slice... but I guess... you ate the ring." There was a silence that fell apon you both as you stared at eachother, eyes wide.
The silence was broke when Robin released a laugh, "Well. I guess we can't do anything about that, but you can still propose to me with or without a ring. We can buy a new one later as I'm pretty sure neither of us wants to fetch it when the time comes." Robin had said, giving you a smile as if telling you it's alright. You sighed, a smile growing on your face saying "I suppose I can, but it disapoints me knowing that it basically went wrong." Robin had gotten up and walked over to you, giving you a hug. "Little bird, don't worry about proposing alright? Just know that I'll marry you and if you want to we can redo this whole thing at a later date." You just nodded your head saying a almost silent "Okay." Robin then stood you up and said "Now then, why don't we go and cuddle." Before leading you back to the bedroom so you both can fall asleep cuddling.
A few weeks later, you were able to redo a proposal. This time you didn't put the ring in the cake, but hey you got to do the proposal you wanted.
Nami
You and your girlfriend, Nami, were out about the town of the island that you and the rest of the strawhats had docked on while Franky worked on getting some repairs done on the ship. It's your third day at the town and it was a bit crowded, but not by much which made shopping as well as looking around go a bit smoother. You grasped onto Nami's hand tightly as you looked around. Though as you did so, you seem to get lost in thought. Lately you've been thinking about something, what is that something? Well it's proposing. You want to propose to your girlfriend but you've never found the right moment or time and you couldn't think about the right way to propose to her. Noticing your spaced out space, Nami tugged on your intertwined hands trying to snap you out of your thoughts. The hand tugging worked as you looked over at her, raising an eyebrow. "Is everything alright? You seemed to be spaced out there. Anything wrong?" You stayed silent for a few moments before speaking up saying "Yeah I'm just thinking about something, no need to worry." You gave her a smile, pulling her in closer as you wrapped an arm around her. "What are you thinking about?" Nami asked, raising her own eyebrow at you. She slightly leaned into you as she gazed at the shops you both passed by. Something about this scene seemed peaceful, calming even. You thought for a few moments, thinking about telling her, but then again you could just ask her now. A proposal doesnt have to be extravagant, it could just be something peaceful. This moment seemed to be peaceful enough. "Well you see, I've been wanting to ask you a question." You admitted, looking to the side at her face, admiring it as you did so. She tilted her head, humming as she motioned for you to ask your question. "Go ahead and ask, no need to be afraid." She said, never taking your eyes off of you. You took a deep breath as you began to talk "I just wanted to ask you to ma-" Then you were interrupted when suddenly two marines showed up, shouting your names. "Do we run or do we fight?" You questioned, looking at your girlfriend with wide eyes. "I say we run and not even bother." Nami said as you both start running off to the ship, and it seems like you're not alone in being found as you can hear chaos across the town from the rest of the crew being found. Well, you got the ship but it was definately a pain in the ass to get back to it. You also did end up fighting the marines, which you didn't really want to do but it had to be done. You and Nami managed to beat their asses though, and now everyone has set sail, heading towards a new island and away from the marines. It took a few hours before you could sit back and relax in peace. Once you were able to, you simply just walked into the library and sat down on the bench and embraced the silence within the room.
Soon enough someone had joined you on the bench, wraping their arm around you causing you to jump up and look beside you, seeing Nami as she laughed at the fact you jumped, "Did I scare you?" She rose her eyebrow as the color red dusted your cheeks, becoming flustered before shaking your head saying a quick "No! I wasn't scared!" in response to her accusation. Nami only hummed and leaned back into the bench, arm still wraped around you, saying "Liar. I don't believe that." You pouted saying "Fine, I did get scared. Just don't do that again." Nami shook her head before leaning over and placing a peck on your nose, "No promises, now tell me what question were you going to ask earlier before we were rudely interupted?"
"Well, I just wanted to ask you-" You paused for a few moments as you looked down at your lap, twiddling your fingers as you suddenly felt a bit bashful now when it comes to asking the question. Nami nudges you, as if saying that you can say it. You took a deep breath before saying "I wanted to ask you if you would marry me, we've been together for a while so I was thinking about tying the knot." You blushed even more as you looked up at her to see her eyes widened in response. "I wanted to do so earlier but... it didn't really go as planned." You said and chuckled to yourself.
Nami soon pulled you into a hug, holding you tightly. "You could of asked me anytime and I would of said yes." She said, you blinked and smiled as you hugged her tightly. "Thank you, it means a lot to me that you said yes." You said, as you both just remained there for a few moments.
Let's just say, even if you didn't get to propose in the moment and way you wanted to but you're glad you got to ask her the question anyway.
Sanji Vinsmoke
Everything is going to plan, Sanji had planned the day out thoroughly, and he is pretty confident that everything is going to work out in the end. He would propose and you will say yes! Simple as that. To begin the day would be a nice breakfast with the crew, then after the chores are done, eat lunch with you after feeding the rest of the crew, sit back and relax for a bit then while you take a bath before dinner he'll feed the crew and then once they're out he'll set up a romanic dining area where you'll both eat and then he will propose and you both will live happily ever after, hopefully at least. So far everything is going to plan, it is now past lunch and with every chore you and Sanji have today finished, you both can relax a bit. So here you are, relaxing against your boyfriend's chest as he ran a hand through your hair. "I love you so much, can we stay like this forever." You said, a peaceful look on your face. At that moment Sanji wanted to propose right then and there, but he has to wait for the dinner. "I'd love that so much my darling (Y/N)-chan, and I love you too." He responded, leaving a kiss upon your lips.
You chuckled and seperated saying a quick "Yeah but sadly, we can't stay like this forever. It's time for me to get a bath before dinner." You began to get up, Sanji relunctantly letting you go. "Alright alright, be sure to relax and enjoy your bath my love." Sanji smiled, kissing your hand before you left with a "I will, don't miss me too much now." Sanji watched you leave before he put the rest of the plan into action.
Sanji had quickly rushed the crew into dinner, quickly serving them dinner and staring at them to rush them into finishing their food. Although it didn't go without a few complaints and whining, especially from Luffy who didn't want to be rushed with his food then proceeded to eat it fast anyways. Soon enough everyone else was out of the room so it was time for him to prepare the dinner for him and his love. Fairy lights, candles, favorite food, you name it it's in there. The perfect setting to propose.
Soon enough you walked in, expecting everything in the kitchen to be looking normal, only to be met with something quite different. You just see the kitchen being decorated, and Sanji standing there, looking at you with a smile. "What is this Sanji?" You questioned him, tilting your head. Sanji walked over to you, taking your hand and walking you over to the table in order to sit you down as he said "Just a simple romantic dinner for the both of us my love."
You chuckled as you both sat down, saying a simple "You didn't have to set this up you know, something simple would of been fine you know." Sanji just shook his head saying "Nope! Only the best for the love of my life." Your face turned red at that saying "Whatever you say darling." You winked at him, making Sanji have to will himself not to have a nosebleed which he somehow succeeded in doing. "Now, madam, will you please dig in." Sanji said as he motioned towards the food.
You nodded your head as you both begun to eat your food, talking between bites and soon enough time went by and you were both finished eating dinner and dessert. Sanji seems a bit oblivious to the fact he is forgetting to do something very important that he has been planning to do. He has been so engrossed in you that everything he was going to do today just, exited his mind. Soon enough you both found yourselves in your bedroom, laying in bed and ready to go to sleep as you cuddle up against eachother, eyes closed.
Soon enough Sanji remembered something, the fact he was supposed to propose to you but forgot to as he sat right up in the bed in the flash of a light. You groaned after having of been woken right after almost falling asleep, as you opened your eyes and looked over at Sanji, asking him a simple, "What's wrong Sanji?" You questioned the man as you slowly sat yourself up. "I forgot to do something." He had muttered, looking away as he seemed to be ashamed of himself. "What did you forget to do? I'm sure it's nothing too big that you can't do tommorow." You had questioned as you brought him to your arms. "I can't do it tommorow, it's not the proper way a gentleman would do it." He responded to you. "Im sure you'll be a gentleman either way, now what did you want to do?" Sanji sat there in silence for a few moments or so "I wanted to propose to you tonight but... I got so caught up that I forgot to do so." You sighed and ran a hand through your hair "Would you like to do so now, or wait til later and do it how you want to do it? Because trust me, in whatever way you want to do propose will be perfect." You spoke to him calmly as you did your best to comfort your now crying boyfriend. You pulled him into your chest as he spoke "I'd rather wait for another time, thank you." You hummed saying "No problem, no need to thank me... I love you, now lets go to sleep okay?" You smiled as you both laid down. Soon enough with you running a hand through his hair, soothing him, you both fell into a peaceful slumber.
A few days later, he had the chance to do the proposal he really wanted to do. Smiling that he got to do it in the way he wished to do so long ago, you said yes.
Usopp
It is no lie that you love Usopp, that can be seen as you gaze at your boyfriend while he messes around with Luffy and Chopper. You smiled and hummed as you then look out into the sea, spotting the fact that you're getting closed to the next island. You leaned back against the railing, closing your eyes and taking a nap as you smiled, knowing you'll be there at the island soon. A few minutes or so of shuteye wouldn't hurt either. It didn't take long to be woken up by your lover, maybe an hour or so had passed since you'd fallen asleep on the deck. You opened your eyes and smiled, seeing Usopp's face above you. "Good morning." You said, releasing a yawn knowing it wasn't morning. "It's the afternoon! And we are finally docked on an island!" He said, seeming to be itching to get off the boat and down onto the island. "I know I know, I'm asuming you want to take me out to eat?" You questioned him, a smirk growing on your face. Usopp just hummed in agreement saying "Of course! It's basically lunch time, might as well try some of the local food here and see how good it is." You kept your eyes on him as you stood up saying "Alright, but lunch was like an hour ago." Only to be responded with a "So? We can still call it lunch." You both then disembarked the ship and went off into the town in order to find something to eat. It took you some time but you both settled on going to a nice cafe that sold a variety of meals and wasn't too crowded or busy. You both sat down and ordered something to eat, you ordered (Food) and Usopp had ordered himself a ham and turkey sandwhich. It didn't take long for the food to arive as well as for you both to finish eating so you ended up paying and leaving soon after, deciding to take a walk and explore the town you and the crew found yourselves in. There seems to be plenty of stores, meaning this is a fairly popular town it might just not be popular during this time of year. You looked looked over at Usopp before saying "We should make sure to try not to draw much attention to ourselves, as we don't really know if there are any marines nearby, plus we should hope that the rest of the crew doesn't attract any trouble either." Usopp nodded enthusiastically saying "I totally agree with you (Y/N)! But don't worry, if anything does happen the great Usopp is here to protect you" As he did so, he puffed his chest out, walking with confidence in his step. You giggled at the display and leaned into his shoulder saying "Of course you will, I can always count on the great Usopp in order to protect me." You nuzzled your cheek into his shoulder as Usopp's eyes went wide and red tinted his cheeks. He chuckled saying "Of course you can! I would never let my precious partner get injured!" You hummed saying "I know, let us go to the beach now okay? I want to walk along the sand and feel the water beneath my feet." Usopp said an "Of course! Let us go to the beach!!" Then you both began walking towards the beach. Soon enough you both got onto the beach. You took off your shoes and held them within your hand as you embraced the feeling of the sand against your feet, and soon enough the sea water as you both begun to walk along the water as well. Everything so peaceful, hearing your lover tell stories as well as hearing and feeling the sea breeze against your skin. It felt as if nothing could go wrong at that moment, as if you could propose to him right then and there, like you've been meaning to do for a few months now. "So have you heard the story about how I defeated ten giant sea creatures at once! Without even breaking a sweat either! It was so easy, I just attacked them and then the next thing I know!! Boom! Boom! Bam! They were all dead!! You should of seen the great Usopp! It was amazing!" He said, adding effects with his hands and body as he dramaticzed the story.
You stopped walking as you watched Usopp continue walking, too engrossed in the story he's telling to notice that you're not beside him anymore as well as the fact that you're also not walking. You fumbled with your pocket for a few moments, thinking about if you should do so or not before you whispered a "Fuck it." under your breath. You got down on one knee, holding the ring out as you hope for him to turn around and look at you. It didn't take long before he noticed you weren't beside him anymore. Usopp looked around saying a startled "(Y/N)?!" Before looking behind him and seeing you down on one knee with the ring in your hand. Usopp's eyes widened as he looked at you, speechless, as you simply said a "Surprise, will you marry me Usopp?" Usopp just stood there for a few moments before his eyes rolled to the back of his head and he fell to the ground, passing out. You said a surprised and startled "Usopp?!?" Then you went over to him and shook him, trying to get your boyfriend to wake up. You did not expect him to pass out when you thought of all of the possibilities of what could happen. After a few moments he woke up, looked up at you as he said "I had the craziest dream a few moments ago (Y/N). I dreampt that you proposed to me on the beach after we had lunch together." You sighed and shook your head saying "It wasn't a dream Usopp, that actually happened. You passed out honey." You smiled down at him as you placed a kiss on his forehead. He about passed out again but you stopped him from doing so before you asked a "So, yes or no?" Usopp stared at you for a few moments before jumping up and hugging you tightly saying an excited "Yes!! Of course I'd marry you! It's one of my dreams!" He smiled before placing kisses all over your face before landing on your lips, his smile never leaving his face. You chuckled saying a "Thank you, I love you so much even if this didn't go exactly as planned." You kept a hold on him as you two just sat on the beach for a few hours before heading back to the ship. You just hope that no one saw what had happened a few moments ago. Well, Brook did and he ended up telling the whole ship during dinner time. Let's just say that the newly engaged couple got teased quite a bit for what enspired down down on the beach.
Franky
You were sitting in Franky's workshop, a comforting silent in the air as you watched your boyfriend work on whatever he is working on. You might not know what he is working on, or know the mechanical aspects of it but you always enjoyed watching him focus on what he was working on despite being clueless about it. You hummed a small tune, looking at him but not noticing the glances he would take at you every now and again. He smiled, making sure to keep what he was working on a secret. He knew that it was a risk to work on it now with you in the room, but he just couldn't resist saying yes when you asked if you could sit in his workshop with him. He just makes sure to keep it covered if you come close enough to be able to see it. You kicked your legs back and forth as you continued to hum the tune, keeping your eyes on your boyfriend. The best time of the week are whenever you and Franky got the chance to relax in his workshop as it felt so calming and refreshing to be able to just sit here in eachother's presence, just the two of you. It made your days better, and if you've had a bad day it helps comfort you and bring you happiness since you're able to do this with eachother even if you just sat in the same room in silence for a couple of hours or just spend it all talking, nothing could make you happier at this very moment in time. "What time is it Franky?" You questioned him, knowing full well you could of checked the clock on the wall but you wanted to ask him instead. Franky looked over at the clock before saying "It seems to be 5:20pm." You nodded your head with a hum responding with a "It's almost time for dinner then I'm pretty sure." Franky just nodded his head saying a quick "It sure is almost time for dinner, I should be finished with what I'm working on by then. Once I'm done I'll show you it. "What are you even working on?" You questioned him, trying to get a peak at what he is currently working on, but he kept moving his body so you wouldn't be able to see it. "It's a secret so you can't see it just yet, not until I'm finished with it." He said, causing you to sit back with a pout on your face. You tsked as you said a "But I want to see it!" Franky just shook his head saying "Nope! You can't see it right now." Then you began to beg for him to show it to you. "Please! Please show it to me! I won't tell anyone about it! Not a peep! Just show me it! Pleaseeee!" You begged only to get a chuckle and a shake of the head in response as he said "Nope! You cannot see this just yet." You went back and forth for a few moments before you huffed and sat back, arms crossed saying a "Fine." You gave up on begging for him to show it, figuring he'll just show it once he's finished.
It took a few moments of waiting til he finished what he was working on. He smiled upon seeing his little project finished as he patted himself on the back. "Alright, it's finished now!" He smiled, gazing at what he made. What did he make exactly? Well he made a ring for you so he can propose to you. He didn't want to buy a ring, he wanted to make it himself as it'll mean much more then something he could buy. As after all, there's a certain happiness that fills him at being able to make his own ring for you.
Seeing him so excited and happy, made you happy and completely forget what he was working on. You've always loved seeing him happy, and often times the best moment to see him happy which is also your favorite moment when he shows his happiness and pride after he finished a project he had been working on. You just stared at him in complete awe and love, soon enough he looked back at you, smiling as you both stared into eachothers eyes for a good few moments. It took a few moments, but it was almost as if you both spoke at the same time as you and Franky both said "Will you marry me?" Right after that you both sat still for a moment, blinking before bursting out into laughter. "Did we... just ask that... at the same time..?" You questioned through your laughter, snorting a bit as you did so. "Yeah, I guess we did. My answer is yes, what about yours?" He questioned you, still laughing his ass off at the chance of you both proposing at the same time. "Yes, my answer is yes." You said, smiling as you both started to calm down. "What is the chance of that happening?" You questioned him as you got up to hug your now fiance, a grin never leaving your face as you whiped away some tears that fell from your eyes after laughing so hard. "I don't know but it was amazing, I guess I'll have to give you the surprise now." He said, picking up the ring and showing you it adding a quick "I made it for you since I was planning to propose to you." You smiled, placing the ring on your finger saying a happy "Thank you Franky, this means everything to me." Franky just smiled, placing a small kiss upon your lips before saying a quick "No problem, now let us get to the kitchen so we can have dinner before Luffy eats it all." You hummed in agreement as you both walked off to have dinner. You had a happy night as everyone seemed to notice your ring, and assuming what happened caused a celebration to happen on the ship of the Thousand Sunny. You and Franky both happy as you both took the chance to party with everyone to celebrate your engagement. You couldn't be happier.
It happens in Paper Street. Tyler is still gone. The building is oozing with monkeys, but on the upper floors where Tyler and I sleep, I am alone.
I am not alone.
There is two of me. I don't have a twin.
If there's two of me, then there might be two of Tyler.
Tyler would probably think killing myself to monopolize him and his clone is a step closer to bottom.
If there's not two Tylers, I have to kill him anyway.
All of this becomes clear to me in the time it takes for my clone to stare at me and shake his head and get his shit together.
I play it cool. I am so ZEN, he will not realize when I reach over to crush his windpipe.
I say, hey. This is weird.
"Yeah," he says, and my voice is way too loud coming from him. I don't like it. He needs to shut the fuck up. "Is Tyler here?"
I ask him, do you think Tyler would know why the universe broke? I ask him like he's asked me if Tyler would like to take a nice little shopping trip through the local designer stores and pay off the companies' tax breaks by giving hundreds to their check out charity.
I think Tyler would know why the universe broke, of course. He'd be the one to break it. Maybe this is another one of Tyler's little tests. This new version of me seems less certain of that fact, more like he's looking for his daddy's coattails, and now I really can't wait to punch his teeth out of his skull. He doesn't have the hole in his cheek, and I can see him watching it wink when I talk. He looks like a jealous rat.
We must both be Joe's Clenching Bowels.
I ask him, do you think we're different? Maybe there's a butterfly effect. Parallel universes. There has to be a reason he's so pathetic.
"I'm sure we are," he says, like he's telling his boss about sawing cross tips into bullets. Touching.
How'd you meet Tyler?
"On the plane. He gave me his number. Called him after my condo blew up."
I smile. I met him on a nude beach. He gave me his number. I called him after my condo blew up. Every word after nude turns my copy's face a bit ruddy, little tectonic nudges to the ring of fire.
"What were you doing on a nude beach?" he spits. "Gargling your boss's balls?"
Watching Tyler. Naked and sweaty, muscles flexing as he pulled around driftwood and pilings to sit in his own hand of perfection. I know I sound like a priest that wants to keep God for himself. I am.
"You're a fag," he says.
I think of my birthmark on my foot. I think of Tyler. I think of Marla. I think of how stupid this version of me is, to pretend he wouldn't get on his knees just for the chance of a taste of Tyler. Is that not how he got the kiss I can see on his hand? His Tyler must have had to lower his standards.
Best not to accuse others of things you're guilty of, I say. I'm willing to face any number of uncomfortable truths if it will get rid of him, I realize.
He's flustered. "No, no, it's not —" he waves his hands. "It's not like that with me and him. No."
Yes it is. It's not love as in caring, sure.
I step closer.
It's property as in ownership.
This must be why Tyler likes it. I see myself wither like a guy kicked in the balls on the first night he attends fight club.
I could be over that table every night for Tyler, I say. You would just be jealous. Just like you're jealous of Marla. Of that one pretty kid you probably pummeled into the ground too. Or did you not even have the balls for that?
Eliminate the competition. Face the truth only to drive it deeper into this jammed copy of myself. Win Tyler's affections. I have already seen the bones in my yard, I can tell, he has not.
One of us is committed. I pull my human sacrifices out of my pocket, throw them at him. One of us wants this. I get in his stupid face.
It's not you.
He swings at me, I'm fighting to the death.
"Tyler isn't here, is he?" he taunts me.
"Tyler left you."
"He doesn't want you anymore."
All things true, but maybe not once I kill you.
I am the abandoned dog, performing tricks so its owner will come home. I am myself, calling my father and telling him about graduating college, like it means fuck all to him. I am myself, pushing onto that next step on his list, anyway. Tyler's my new list, and he wants murder. I've known it. I'll face it.
He gets me in a headlock, hits me over and over, opening up that hole in my cheek. I go limp, drag him down, flip him over myself and grab his throat. I slam his head into the ground. It's soft, moldy wood, not concrete, so I have to start squeezing, instead.
Death will commence in five.
Five, four.
He's gasping, slamming his palm into my nose, breaking it over and over.
Four, three.
Three, two.
His body is shaking under mine. Seizing. He has the primordial strength of a man about to die, and I have the primordial strength of a man about to live.
Death will commence in two.
His eyes are rolling back. I can feel his throat giving in.
No more chance for breaths. It crumbles beneath my hands like the ribcage of a hummingbird.
No chances for evacuation.
Death commences.
Now.
On the upper floors of Paper Street, I am alone.
Hey, bean, would you mind sharing your thoughts on MK’s (semi-)sentient reflections? Very curious to know your thoughts on it 👀
YOU WANNA HEAR ABOUT MY THEORIES??? Okay... Buckle UP!!!
So the first instance I can find of this is in revenge of the spider queen. Okay.. Let me first say that in hindsight.. this was obvious foreshadowing. The image we see here isn't that of Wukong, but most likey MK in his Monkey form. Take into account that the lighting makes it seem like MK's using his gold vision, which reveals a demon's true form... meaning the reflection is most likely Monkey MK.
Tumblr media
Even more so, the trigram furnace was originally used to make the golden pills of immortality and separate the essence of a person into their true consciousness. Which sounds a lot like the furnace is splitting Mk into his true self and their "illusion" self. wink wink
Tumblr media
SO THESE TWO ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON: Mirror Mk is more confident, he seems to have a better grasp on how to handle tough stituations, which the real MK is panicing and seems a bit naive.
Tumblr media
Throughout his whole pep-talk with himself.. he seems disappointed in himself- barley making eye contact with the real mk. At least for the first part. Afterwords, Mirror mk becomes encouraging and helps Mk to seperate himself from Wukong.
The second I rememeber seeing Mk's reflection act seperatly from him is in Minor scale. The leading up to this episode is Wukong telling Mk to trust his guts, which are manifesting in these reflections. The reflections that are flat out warning him to stay away from the furnace and are once again on the furnace. Somehow, Mk's reflection seems to know more than him.
Tumblr media
Personally, I think that these interactive reflections is Mk's Monkey form talking to him. Whether you believe it to be that Mk was seperated from his monkey form when he was recreated again (ancient demon theory) or that the Monkey form was seal away somehow in the first season, both work to show that the Monkey form might be more like a protective entity.
If you want to go even further, the relfection has the opposite coloring from the ink variation of Mk. Yellow and white vs the black and teal.
Ink Mk was a manifestion of Mk's insecuries, what he's bottled up inside and the uncertainty that he's never wanted to face. Ink Mk doesn't give real Mk any answers. Instead he gives him more questions that dance around the answers. The responces are muddy and conviluted. However, Mirror Mk means that he has to face those uncertainties which give him a clearer answer. Mirror Mk's answers are concise and tell him exactly what he needs to hear, but doesn't explain any more than that. Both have the goal of trying to help Mk understand, but due to their nature, they both have to go about it in very different ways.
I'd say I'm becoming a nerd, but that ship sailed a long time ago. I guess I'm just expanding my nerdiness to other areas.
Anyway, MORE MYTHOLOGY!
So in Journey to the West, the Buddha explains that there are 4 'spiritual primates' that don't fit into any categories for immortals or types of creatures. Fans of Lego Monkie Kid are likely familiar with 2, the Stone Monkey Sun Wukong and the Six Eared Macaque. The other 2, the Long-armed Gibbon and the Red-Buttocked Baboon are a lot more obscure. They only get a brief mention in JttW because the focus of the chapter they appear in is Macaque, but the idea of a set of super powerful Immortal monkeys is just too fun to pass up, you know? So I've been thunking my thinker.
What if each primate was associated with a different realm (mortal, heavenly, lunar, and underworld) and element? I know the 4 elements (earth, water, wind, fire) are a western idea rooted in alchemy and eastern mythology has 5 elements (earth, water, fire, metal, wood), but there aren't 5 monkeys and this is just a thought experiment and not me trying to force western ideas onto eastern culture.
Got it? Good.
Now, Sun Wukong is very solidly earth because he's, you know, a rock. No surprise there. He was also born in the mortal realm and spent most of his life there, so we'll call him the celestial primate of the mortal realm while we're at it.
The Six-Eared Macaque is another easy one. A lot of LMK fannon associates him with wind, inferring that his heightened hearing has something to do with wind magic. He's also very closely tied to the moon because of the line in "Shadow Play" where he directly compares the Warrior (himself) to the moon. So Macaque is the celestial primate of wind and the Lunar realm.
Now here's where we get a bit more speculative and start using information creatively. There are 2 monkeys, realms, and elements left I want to use, so let's start with the monkeys so everyone has a baseline understanding.
The Long Armed Gibbon (Gibs, from now on) is described as being able to "seize the sun and moon, shorten a thousand mountains, distinguish auspicious from inauspicious, and manipulate planets and stars."
The Red Buttocked Baboon (Babs for short) has "knowledge of yin and yang, understands human affairs, is adept I'd daily life and can avoid death and lengthen its life."
Starting with the realms because they seem easiest to assign, I would give Gibs the Heavenly realm because of its ability to move around celestial objects like the sun, moon, planets, and stars. This leaves the Underworld to Babs, which I think fits nicely because their "knowledge of yin and yang" and "understand[ing] of human affairs" would make them a good assistant to the 10 Kings of the Underworld.
Next comes the 2 remaining elements, water and fire, which are a bit tricky because it could go both ways.
Gibs could be fire because the sun and stars are giant balls of burning plasma, but also water because the sky/heavens are often associated with an ocean or other bodies of water in several different mythologies. For example, in Egyptian mythology, Ra sailed his boat through the sky every day, while in early Abrahamic belief the sky was a huge dome with water on the other side, and rain happened when floodgates were opened to let the water through. In Chinese myth specifically, the Milky Way is often depicted as a river that is sailed through by various deities.
Babs could fit with fire as well because underworlds and hell-adjacent places are often shown to have fires to torment and punish the sinful dead, no surprise there. But there is surprisingly a lot of water symbolism in the realm of the dead as well. For example, some people may be familiar with the Japanese idea of the Sanzu River, very similar in concept to the Greek River Styx, as well as the Chinese Huang Quan/Yellow springs.
Personally I would pair Babs with fire because he has red in his name, making him the celestial primate of fire and the Underworld.
That leaves Gibs to be the celestial primate of water and the Heavenly realm.
I feel pretty good about this, but if anyone else has other ideas I'd love to hear them.
“Hey, it’s my turn to build the castle!”
You snatched the tiny shovel from your friend, only for him to snatch it right back. Upset, you complained to his mom. “Auntie! Minjae won’t let me build the castle!”
“Minjae, it is Y/N’s turn, so give the shovel back,” Minjae’s mom came in clutch.
“But this is our sandbox, and it’s in our yard. Y/N lives next door,” Minjae said, making somewhat of a valid point.
“Okay, but you suck at building castles. If I do it, then at least we’ll have an actual castle that won’t fall apart in two seconds.”
“I’ll crush your castle in one second, then.”
“Auntie!”
That’s was pretty much how most of your childhood went: playing in the backyard with your next door neighbor, Minjae. The aunties in the neighborhood liked to joke that the two of you would grow up and get married, but they’d immediately take it back when they saw you chase Minjae around the neighborhood with a worm on a stick or a ball of mud. Minjae was also afraid of heights, and you used that to torment him whenever he was being mean or annoying by grabbing one of his shoes then climbing up a tree so that he couldn’t get it, thus earning the nickname of monkey (well, Minjae was the only one who ever called you monkey).
On your way to school, you would never, ever sit next to him on the bus. He was a popular kid, so he sat in the back of the bus. You, on the other hand, wanted to get off the bus as soon as possible, so you sat in the very first seat. Sure, you were neighbors and would play together after school, but that didn’t mean you had to be friends with him in school. Honestly, you wouldn’t even categorize Minjae as being a friend. He was a last resort— someone you tolerated just enough that you would let go of whatever grievances you have with him in order to avoid a boring day at home.
Minjae seemed to be the same way. At school, he wanted nothing to do with you. When it was time for recess, he and his friends would be on the court playing basketball while you and your friends would play on the playground swinging from the monkey bars or going down the slide or just sitting on the swing waiting for the wind to push you. Even if you both were in the same homeroom, you would keep your distance. He didn’t want people knowing he was your neighbor, and likewise you with him.
There were eleven houses on your block, and the families on the block would gather for potlucks every so often. You and Minjae were the oldest out of all the kids. The rest of the kids were younger than you by a year or two difference, but when you’re a kid, a year is such a huge difference. You and Minjae never wanted to interact with the younger kids because they were so young and obnoxious, and the two of you had more experience in life. That being said, you hated that there was no one else for you to really hang out with at those dinners.
Usually, during these dinners, the families would be busy eating and chatting in the dining room while the rest of the kids would sit in the living room, eating and talking or watching TV. The younger kids always wanted to play while the older kids opted to watch TV. The two of you would sit together— but not too close— and just watch whatever was playing in silence.
The running joke during these dinners was that you and Minjae were going to end up together (which wasn’t really refuted by the time you both entered middle school because you stopped chasing Minjae around with bugs), but you and Minjae still got annoyed by the teasing to the point where the two of you stopped hanging out after school— heck, you both had to walk home after school, but you never walked together even though you were next door neighbors. That being said, you would still reluctantly keep each other company at these stupid neighborhood block dinners.
“Dude, you’re breathing so loud. Shut up,” you told Minjae at one of the dinners while kicking his leg.
You both were in your final year of middle school. The other kids were in their own world as per usual, and you and Minjae decided to watch a movie as per usual, but Minjae was breathing too loud for you to watch the movie.
“I’m not breathing loud. You are.”
“Am not!”
“Are too!”
The two of you started kicking each other while yelling insults at each other.
“Do you have a problem with watching a movie silently or something? Just stop breathing for a second!” you said with complete annoyance.
“Your nose is the one that keeps whistling! Remind me to tell auntie to make you get plastic surgery— that should also help fix your ugly monkey face,” Minjae shot back.
“You’re the ugly one, mop head! If you won’t stop breathing, then I’ll make you stop breathing!”
You got Minjae in a headlock and pinned him to the ground, hoping that if you choked him hard enough that he’d stop breathing and you could watch the movie in peace.
“Ew, get a room,” one of the boys commented as he looked at the two of you.
“Shut up, Hyunwoo,” both you and Minjae spat out.
“Aw, you both are synced up and everything. You’re totally meant to be,” Sumin, one of the more chaotic boys of the group, teased.
“Bro, I will make you stop breathing, too,” you warned him.
“Ha, I’d like to see you try!”
Next thing you all knew, everyone worked together to tear you and Sumin apart. You had your hand around his neck while he had your hair bunched up in his fists. Jinsik, Sumin’s best friend, was pulling Sumin away while Yujun, one of the youngest boys, worked on getting his fingers out of your hair. Junghoon, Hyunwoo’s best friend, and Hyunwoo pulled your hands away from Sumin’s neck while Minjae had his arms wrapped around your waist and tried to pull you away that way. Hunter, Seeun, and Yechan, the other younger kids of the group, were busy laughing at the whole scene.
“You both gotta stop before the parents see, guys!” Yujun rationalized.
Reluctantly, the two of you released one another. You glared at Sumin, who responded with a stink eye. You lunged at the annoying-ass boy again, but Minjae was still holding you back.
“F— Minjae! Let go!” you nearly swore as you tried to wriggle out of his grasp.
Immediately, Minjae let go, earning a look of disgust from you.
“See? Meant to be,” Sumin teased once more.
“I’ll kill you!”
The rest of the night consisted of the other eight boys trying desperately to keep you and Sumin away from each other.
One day on your way back from school in the wintertime, it was snowing outside. You, like an idiot, forgot to bring a scarf or a hat to protect yourself from the snow. Snow didn’t bother you like that, but it did make your hair wet, and you always got sick after walking outside in the cold with wet hair. You stood by the exit and sighed deeply before walking outside into the winter wonderland.
After two minutes of walking in the snow, your hair was covered with thick chunks of snowflakes. You brushed the snow out of your hair before it could melt when you suddenly felt something land on your head— a hat. You looked to your side to see Minjae walking right next to you bundled up in his winter jacket, his face buried in a knit scarf.
“Thanks...” you mumbled while you put the hat on properly. “I’ll return it to you later.”
“No, that’s for you. Mom made it for you and told me to give it to you. I kept forgetting,” Minjae said roughly.
“Oh… Tell her I said thanks.”
“Will do.”
After the conversation ended, you thought Minjae was going to walk ahead to maintain some distance between you two, so you were surprised to see that he was walking right next to you. You didn’t want to say anything because, while you didn’t really care for his company, it was nice not walking home alone for once. The entire walk home, you both were completely silent while listening to your own music with your own ears buds in both ears, but you kept each other company.
Tumblr media
High school was pretty much the same as elementary school. You thought you and Minjae had gotten closer since middle school, but he went right back to his old ways after middle school ended, but you weren’t bothered because you had your own friends and the two of you didn’t even have classes together, so you really weren’t upset that the distance between you two grew. Well, that’s how it was freshman year. Sophomore year, however, things changed.
There was a new family that moved into the block. There was an older couple who moved out— they never had a kid, so your group didn’t change— but the new family had a son named Junmin. He was in the same year as you and Minjae. You briefly interacted with Junmin at the first block party that he attended, but other than the parties, you had no real reason to interact with him.
Minjae was already on the school basketball team freshman year, so when Junmin joined the team sophomore year, the two of them immediately befriended each other. They would sit together on the bus ride home (whenever they didn’t have practice) all the time and talk and laugh while you sat elsewhere talking to some of the other kids in the neighborhood. Even when the three of you got down at the same bus stop, you would just walk home without acknowledging either of them, your headphones blasting music in your ears to make you seem like less of a dick. However, that dynamic only lasted the one semester. It was the first day of the spring semester classes that your world changed.
“Good morning, Y/N,” Junmin greeted you one morning.
He plopped into the seat and sat right next to you. Despite the fact that you had headphones in, you could still hear him. It was too early in the morning for you to react in a timely manner, so you sat and stared at him in bewilderment before responding, “Good morning…”
“Is it okay if I sit here?”
Junmin asking that question well after he got comfortable in the seat was kind of pointless, and while you didn’t really want him to sit next to you, the bus was already moving. You had no choice but to nod. You turned away from him and turned up the volume of the song you were listening to, hoping that he would get the hint and not talk to you. Even though you were listening to music on full blast and you were looking out of the window, Junmin wanted to talk.
“Y/N, I have a question,” Junmin patted your shoulder lightly, trying to get your attention.
With a heavy sigh, you paused your music, took your headphones out, and gave him your somewhat complete attention. As much as you didn’t want to talk to him, he wasn’t a bad kid, so you didn’t want to be too rude to him.
“Why don’t you ever sit with us in the back?”
“Who? You and Minjae?”
“Yeah. We’re all neighbors, after all. Sumin, Jinsik, and Hyunwoo also sit with us.”
“First of all, it’s too early in the morning to deal with all of Sumin’s screaming—”
Right on cue, Sumin laughed loudly, giving you a slight headache.
“That’s fair,” Junmin acknowledged while rubbing his ringing ear.
“And second of all, we’re not friends like that. I’ve never been friends with anyone in the group like that,” you explained.
“Is there a reason why?”
“…No. That’s just how our lives unfolded. None of us are too bothered by it.”
“Why don’t you try to be proper friends with us? It’ll be fun,” Junmin encouraged you.
“And talk about what? I don’t play basketball or watch the games, and we don’t even have classes together. There’s nothing to really talk about with all of you,” you sighed, wondering why Junmin was trying so hard to make all of you guys be friends.
“Okay, fine. But I’m sure you and I can find something to talk about.”
“Like what?”
“Um… What song were you listening to just now?”
You showed him the song, and he immediately gushed on and on about the artist. The two of you ended up discussing music the rest of the bus ride to school.
The two of you got off the bus and walked towards the building together, only to see Junmin get whisked away by the boys.
“Bye, Y/N! See you later!” he called while waving as his friends dragged him away.
You waved in response, an amused smile on your face.
Minjae, meanwhile, decided to grill Junmin as they entered the school through a different entrance.
“Why did you sit by Y/N today and not us?” he asked.
“I mean, we all live on the same block, so why not be friends?”
“You barely talk to Y/N at the block parties, what do you mean?” Sumin furrowed his eyebrows.
“I mean, like… Well… I think we—”
“Guys, get the hint. Junmin has a crush on Y/N,” Jinsik pointed out while rolling his eyes.
“Really? On Y/N?” Hyunwoo was shocked.
Junmin couldn’t even deny his feelings— his face was already bright red. He nodded, and the group immediately erupted into debates about you. Minjae, on the other hand, kept quiet. He was baffled. Why did Junmin have a crush on you, the weird kid who chased him around with a bug on a stick, the crazy kid who tried to fight him, the kid who barely talked to him? He just couldn’t imagine anyone having feelings for you of all people.
Tumblr media
You didn’t realize that you, Junmin, and Minjae all had lunch at the same time until you bumped into Junmin— you were with your friends, and the bell rang so you were off to your next class.
“Sorry— Oh! Y/N! You have lunch this period, too?” Junmin was mildly surprised to see you.
“Yeah, you too?”
“Yep.”
“Hey, Y/N,” Minjae put his arm over Junmin’s shoulder, nearly knocking the boy down.
“Hi, Minjae…” you were confused— why was Minjae talking to you?
“Do you still wear that hat my mom gave you?”
You were seriously weirded out. Minjae never talked to you in school, and now he wanted to know about what clothes you wore? “Yeah, I wore it to school today.”
“I thought I saw you wearing it. My mom has another one she made for you. I’ll give it to you later.”
“Okay…? Uh… Bye, Minjae. Bye, Junmin.”
You waved and immediately started walking to class, your friends squealing beside you.
“What’s with you guys?” you asked.
“Junmin is totally into you,” one of your friends said.
“No, Minjae likes Y/N,” another friend stated.
“OMG, what if Y/N is trapped in a love triangle? This is so cute, I’m so jealous!” a third friend added their opinion.
“Stop. Minjae’s just my next door neighbor, and Junmin lives on my block. We’re just neighbors,” you shot down their delusional theories almost immediately.
“Well, if you had to choose between them—”
“No, neither. I’m good. Come on, we’re going to be late for class.”
Tumblr media
The bus rides to and from school confused you. Not only was Junmin sitting by you, but Minjae was as well, which ultimately led to Sumin, Jinsik, and Hyunwoo to sit by you all. You barely talked while the rest of the boys screamed about something or the other, but you did feel a little closer to them. You didn’t know how you felt about that, but it wasn’t so bad being friendly with them.
 When February came around, your friends teased the shit out of you. They kept saying that Junmin or Minjae would bring you something for the most romantic day of the year, and that they both would compete to get you the better present. You kept telling them that no, that was not going to happen, but at lunch, Junmin approached your table.
“Y/N,” he said as he handed a tiny bag of chocolate truffles to you. “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
“Th-thank you…” you mumbled while taking the present from him.
Just as quickly as he arrived, Junmin disappeared, leaving your friends to squeal. You tossed the chocolate into your backpack.
“Alright, ladies. If Minjae also gives Y/N chocolate, then I win the bet,” one of your friends said.
“Well I definitely lost… Can’t believe it… I thought Minjae would give Y/N chocolate first,” another friend said.
“See, I told you Junmin would give Y/N chocolate first, and I still think that Minjae isn’t interested,” the third friend said with a grin.
“Why are you betting on my life?” you asked with a sigh.
“We’re betting on your love life—”
“Nonexistent. I don’t have one, and I don’t want one, so stop it,” you said, hoping that you shut down their betting pool.
The bus ride home that day was quiet. Minjae and Junmin were at practice, and somehow, Sumin, Jinsik, and Hyunwoo all managed to get detention together. You treasured the quiet bus ride and had a peaceful time on your way home.
It was snowing when you got home. Snow in February was a little weird, but global warming messed with everything, so it didn’t surprise you anymore. You watched the snow flutter to the ground as you sat at your desk and finished your homework for the night before heading into your living room to sit and watch TV.
The doorbell from the backyard rang around seven in the evening. Mildly annoyed, you went to the backyard to see Minjae wearing his winter coat and scarf. Before you could even unlock the door, Minjae gestured for you to meet him by the sandbox in his backyard. You, completely annoyed by that point, grumbled to yourself as you wore a jacket and boots— it was still snowing outside, but you didn’t think you’d need a hat because you didn’t plan on being outside for more than two minutes.
“What is it?” you asked Minjae as you trudged through the snow.
“Here,” he held out a bag. “For you.”
“Uh, thanks?”
You took the bag from him and waved, assuming that you were good to leave, but Minjae grabbed your hand. He took the bag back and took out whatever was in it before placing it on your head.
“I told you my mom made you another hat. Try it on.”
He held the bag for you as you put the hat on properly. It fit nicely, and it was a rather cute hat.
“Tell your mom I say thanks, then,” you nodded, a small smile on your face as you appreciated the hat.
Minjae nodded. He handed the bag back to you and uttered a small “bye,” before shuffling back to his house. The bag seemed empty, so you wondered why on Earth he left you with the bag. You realized why he did when you got home— there was a tiny tootsie roll in the bag.
You sat in your room, the two chocolates in front of you. You stared at them in confusion. You were about to overthink the chocolates, but then your mother called you into the kitchen. You tossed them into a random drawer in your desk and made your way to the kitchen, completely forgetting about the chocolates.
The rest of the year was annoying, and as was the fall semester of your junior year. Minjae constantly greeted you in the halls whenever you saw him, but it was never in a, for lack of better terms, normal way. Sometimes, he’d make monkey noises and then say that he was doing his impression of you, or he would intentionally run his shoulder into yours, and sometimes he would slam your locker shut just as you opened it.
Junmin, on the other hand, didn’t get to see you as often. His classes were always on the opposite side of the school, and he didn’t even have lunch with you. Because of this development, all of your friends “flipped to Team Minjae”.
“Y/N, face it. Minjae is totally into you,” your friend said to you while walking through the halls, moments after Minjae rammed his shoulder against yours.
“No, he’s not. He used to do this to me all the time when we were kids. This is how he is,” you said while rubbing your shoulder— the impact hurt a little, not going to lie.
These are things that boys do to their crushes, though. Maybe he liked you when you were kids.”
“Absolutely not. He always destroyed my sand castles and…” you couldn’t think of other things he did to you because you would hold a bug and chase him around before he could do anything to you— preventative measures. “Anyway, we’re childhood friends… No, not even friends. We’re neighbors. That’s all we’ll ever be.”
Junior year meant you could drive home, so you didn’t take the bus anymore. You didn’t see either Minjae or Junmin when you got home, which was always somewhat of a relief because you were tired of seeing Minjae at school. Junmin, on the other hand, wasn’t bad. Seeing him was never irritating.
You shook your head. Why were you thinking about those boys in the first place when they didn’t hold a special place in your heart? They weren’t worth the thought. You had other things to think about, like your grades; not boys, and definitely not the neighbor boys.
Tumblr media
“Y/N!” Minjae called your name while you walked through the halls.
“God…” you muttered under your breath before turning to him and asking loudly, “What do you want, Minjae?”
“Come here,” he walked towards the stairwell.
Reluctantly, you did as he said and joined him in the stairwell. “Okay, what is it?”
He closed the door to the stairwell. You narrowed your eyes. What was he doing?
“I have something I want to tell you.”
“Yeah? What is it?”
Minjae took a step towards you, and you immediately took a step back. He was definitely acting weird. He kept walking towards you, and you kept walking backwards away from him, only for your back to hit the wall. Your eyes darted back and forth as he pinned you against the wall. His face was so close to yours that you felt like you could count each individual, surprisingly gorgeous, eyelash of his.
“I like you, Y/N. Go out with me,” he said quietly but not so quietly that you couldn’t hear him clearly.
“Minjae, stop messing around.”
You tried to push him away and leave, but he grabbed your arms and pinned them above your head to the wall. One hand holding your arms and his other hand pressing against the wall by your hip, Minjae said, “I’m serious, Y/N. I like you. I really fucking like you.”
Your eyes went wide— you’d never heard him say the f word before. Your heart raced as he leaned in, his lips nearly brushing past yours…
Then, your alarm went off. You sat up immediately, your forehead breaking into a cold sweat. What the fuck was that dream?!
Tumblr media
You couldn’t face Minjae normally after that dream ever again. You did you best to avoid him at any given moment in the day to the point where you just carried all your textbooks with you so that you wouldn’t have to stop at your locker. Your friends didn’t realize that you were trying to avoid him, so they just assumed that Minjae lost interest. At least your love life was no longer a topic of discussion within your group.
You did a good job in avoiding him until the block party. You couldn’t believe that you had to face him during the party, and it made you nervous as hell. Your heart was already fluttering before you even saw the guy. How on Earth did one measly dream make you crush on a boy that was mean to you all through your childhood?
The party was at Junmin’s house that time. Your family was the first to arrive at the party, which thankfully meant that it was just you and Junmin.
“Hey, I haven’t seen you in a while,” Junmin greeted you with a smile.
He was sitting in the living room flipping through channels. You took a seat next to him. “I know, right? How’ve you been?”
“Busy. Practice got so much more intense now that we’re on varsity.”
“We?”
“Yeah, me and Minjae.”
Your heart skipped a beat. Even the mere mention of his name freaked you out. You hated that.
“How have the games been?” you asked, desperately trying to return your heart rate to normal.
“We’re doing well this season! You should really come for one of our games. We have a home game next week.”
“I don’t know… I’m not a huge basketball fan…”
“You won’t know if you don’t try. At least come for me? Please?”
Junmin stared at you with the most adorable puppy dog eyes, making your heart flutter. Unable to deal with his cute face, you nodded, his eyes immediately sparkling after.
“Promise?”
He held out his pinky.
“Promise.”
You locked your pinky with his.
Even when Minjae arrived at the party, you didn’t realize, nor were you bothered by it. It had just been so long since you had seen Junmin that the two of you talked the entire night. Minjae didn’t even approach the two of you because he had no idea what you both were talking about.
“They’re so cute together, aren’t they?” Minjae heard the aunties talking.
“They are! It would be so cute if they started dating.”
“Can I tell you ladies a secret?” Junmin’s mom approached the women. Minjae, still within earshot, heard Junmin’s mom say, “Junmin’s liked Y/N for a while. Hyunwoo’s mom told me.”
“Why Hyunwoo’s mom?”
“Because Hyunwoo can’t keep a secret.”
Minjae frowned. He had no idea that Junmin was still into you like that. With a shrug, he walked away from the gossiping aunties and hung out with the other boys, leaving you and Junmin to talk the rest of the night.
And lo and behold, the aunties spoke the ship into existence. After you promised Junmin that you’d go to the home game and followed through with your promise, Junmin was delighted. He asked you out that night after their school won— you both were walking back to your car, and he asked you when you got to your car. He was ecstatic when you said yes, but he didn’t kiss you. No, he hugged you, told you that he’d text you about taking you on a date, and left to get into his own car.
Your relationship with Junmin lasted the rest of your high school lives. You went to every single basketball game, you both took turns driving to and from school, and he even took you to prom. Your first kiss happened during your senior year homecoming, and, well, progressed to be more intimate as time went on.
Junmin made you completely forget about your brief crush on Minjae, so when you met them at the games, you talked to Minjae normally. Minjae, on the other hand, distanced himself, using the excuse that he hated romance as a reason to keep away (not that you cared about the justification).
When the three of you graduated, the aunties wanted the three of you to stand together and take a picture. You wrapped one arm around Junmin’s and leaned into him, Minjae standing awkwardly next to you.
“What are you doing? Come here,” you stretched your arm out for Minjae and linked arms with him.
Minjae ears went red, and his face turned a dusty shade of pink. Nonetheless, he kept his arm linked with yours, and the huge gap that was between the two of you disappeared. The pictures turned out great with all three of you standing near each other with wide smiles on your faces. The pictures were so good, in fact, that you didn’t even notice that in one of the pictures, Minjae was looking at you longingly despite the fact that he was standing right next to you.
After you graduated from college, you decided to go home for a couple of months. You were tired from studying and just wanted a little break before starting to work. Also, living rent free didn’t sound too bad, and you missed your mom’s cooking. So many reasons to go home.
Being home, though, you were worried about running into Junmin. The two of you broke up the first year of college because long distance wasn’t working out for the two of you. There weren’t any hard feelings, but Junmin did find a new significant other, so you didn’t want to interact because you were completely and utterly single.
Since you had nothing to study for and no work to do, you found yourself wondering what to do with yourself. So, one day, you laid down in the grass in your backyard and just stared at the sky. You thought about how simple life used to be and thought about what you did as kids to pass the time. Sure, there was the sandbox, which Minjae’s mom got rid of the second all the kids on the block went to college, and there was a park nearby, but that definitely wasn’t all of it. You were thinking about it so hard that you didn’t even realize someone had approached you, their head moving over you and blocking the view.
“Y/N?”
“Jesus!” you sat up immediately, nearly screaming. “Minjae! You scared the shit outta me!”
“Sorry,” Minjae apologized, although he didn’t sound sorry in the slightest. “Mind if I join you?”
You patted a spot of grass next to you, Minjae promptly sitting there. The two of you sat in complete and utter silence. The sound of the wind and the birds filled the silence, but for some reason, it just made you even more aware of the fact that you didn’t even know what to talk to Minjae about. So, you laid back down in the grass and stared at the sky. Minjae mirrored your actions.
“What are we looking at?” Minjae asked, being the first one to break the silence.
“Well, I was thinking more than looking…”
“Thinking about what?”
“About how we used to the pass time as kids. Like, other than the sand pit and the park, what else did we do?”
“You would steal my shoe and climb up a tree so that I couldn’t get it because you knew I was afraid of heights,” Minjae responded almost immediately.
“Oh, right,” you couldn’t help but laugh. “I did use to do that, didn’t I? Are you still afraid of heights?”
Minjae didn’t respond, making you laugh harder. You sat up and clutched your stomach as you laughed your ass off. Minjae sat up too, a small frown on his face.
“Come on, it’s not easy to get over a fear…” Minjae pouted.
“No, you’re right,” you agreed as you wiped tears from your eyes— you laughed so hard you started crying. “I’m sorry for laughing.”
“That’s okay.”
You stood up and held your hand out to help Minjae up. After dusting your pants off, the two of you walked to the neighborhood park. You sat on the benches near the basketball court and continued talking.
“Do you still play basketball?”
“Not competitively, but for fun, yeah.”
The two of you talked about very surface level things, but your conversation stretched out and kept going and going. You never realized you could talk to Minjae for so long, but the two of you weren’t children anymore. You grew up, and with growing up comes different conversations.
Both of your families ended up having dinner together, his parents grilling you about job prospects and your parents with him. By the end of the exhausting interrogative dinner, you and Minjae stood outside on the deck. It was pretty dark outside, and the only thing to illuminate the area were the porch lights of all the houses.
“Did you hear about Junmin?” Minjae asked tentatively.
“Yeah… I mean, good for him. He’s a nice guy,” you said with a sigh.
“What about you?”
“What about me what?”
“Are you seeing anyone?”
You burst out laughing. Hearing those words from Minjae’s mouth was so foreign, and you never ever thought he would say that phrase to you.
“What’s so funny?” Minjae looked at you with concern.
“No, it’s just— You sounded almost like an ex-boyfriend,” you explained after calming down. “But, no. I’m not. Are you?”
“I mean, I am an ex-friend that is a boy,” Minjae mumbled, but you didn’t hear him. Louder, he answered your question, “No, I’m not either.”
“Why not?” the words flew out of your mouth.
“What do you mean why not?” Minjae asked with a laugh. “I just never found someone that I really liked.”
You nodded— it was the same for you after you broke up with Junmin.
The two of you went silent. The only thing you could hear were the buzzes of grasshoppers and cicadas. From inside the house, your mothers were looking at your backs.
“Remember when we used to say that these two would get together?” your mom whispered to Minjae’s mom.
“Yes, I do… Do you think they will?”
“Maybe… Should we keep watching?”
“I don’t see why not.”
The two of you were unaware that your mothers were watching you— your backs were still facing them as Minjae spoke softly.
“I have something to tell you.”
Your mind immediately flashed back to the dream you had about him, and memories of crushing on Minjae flooded your brain. You felt your face heat up as Minjae turned his entire body to face you. He didn’t take a step towards you like he did in the dream, but he did scoot the tiniest bit closer to you.
“Remember when you and Junmin started dating?”
You were not expecting him to say that. Your heart calmed down slightly, and you nodded in response.
“Well, back then, right before you two started dating, you came to watch our game for the first time. My heart skipped a beat because I thought that you came to see me even though I knew you were there because he asked you to come… And I kept thinking about how nice it would have been if you were there for me and not him…”
Your jaw dropped. Was Minjae… Confessing?
“I don’t even know when I caught feelings for you, Y/N… All I know is that whenever Junmin talked about you, I’d get annoyed, so I’d annoy you. I liked when you gave me your attention, and when you started avoiding me—”
“You knew I was avoiding you?” you interrupted.
“Of course I did. You’re not as subtle as you think. I don’t know why you were, but I decided to lay off because I thought you were upset with me. I didn’t want to upset you…”
Empty noises left your body. You didn’t even know how to respond to that revelation with anything other than the truth.
“Seeing you with Junmin was hard… I kept wishing I was him…”
“Minjae…”
“Tell me something, Y/N. Did you hate me back then?”
You had to tell him the truth. “No...” you bit your lower lip and looked down. “I avoided you because… I had a crush on you… And we grew up together so I thought it was weird and that I shouldn’t have been looking at you like that…”
“So you didn’t avoid me because you hated me?”
“I hated you when we were kids, but I never avoided you when we were kids.”
Minjae bit back a slight laugh. He smiled with relief, and your heart raced. He had the same face he did when you were younger, but he looked so much more attractive now, like he grew into his features. You felt your heartbeat louder when Minjae leaned into you.
“Y/N, I have something I want to tell you.”
God, your dream was happening. Your high school dream was coming to life.
“Yeah? What is it?”
“I like you.”
He reached out and cupped your cheek, your face instantly heating up.
“Can I take you on a date sometime, some place?”
This was so much nicer than your high school dream, to say the least.
“I would like that.”
“And… Would it be okay if I kissed you right now?”
“I would really like that…”
Minjae couldn’t help but smile. You felt his hand snake around your waist and pull you even closer to him. Your hands rested on his shoulders as he brought your face towards his, his lips brushing against yours.
This time, you didn’t wake up— you were awake, and this very real Minjae was actually kissing you. The first kiss was soft, but the second was passionate, desperate. His hold on you got tighter, and he kissed you as if he was trying to make up for lost time. Butterflies filled your stomach. When his lips trapped your lower lip and sucked lightly, you felt the world spinning. He leaned into you and kissed you harder, both of his arms around your waist. Your hold on his shoulders was weakening— the more he kissed you, the more your mind went blank.
Yet, when he released your lips and moved back, you leaned towards him wanting more. You moved your hands so that they held onto his neck and pulled him towards you again. His lips were addicting, and you wanted more of him. But, he kept making little comments in between the kisses.
“I like you, Y/N.” Kiss. “I seriously like you.” Kiss. “I like you so much.”
He tried to kiss you again but you covered his lips with your hand and said, “Shut up. Do you have a problem with kissing without talking or something?”
“No, monkey.”
“Monkey?!” you slapped his shoulder. “If I’m a monkey, then you’re still a mop-head.”
“I’ll be your mop-head,” Minjae rubbed his nose against yours lightly. “And you’re my monkey.”
“Don’t make me put you in a headlock.”
“Kinky.”
“Minjae!” you gasped, your face immediately heating up.
“I’m kidding! Just kidding,” Minjae laughed at your red face and hugged you.
You hugged him back and sunk into his warmth and familiar, natural scent. And when he leaned back to look at your face, you kissed him quickly, smiles blossoming on your face, then his.
You both finally turned towards the house to head back inside, only to see your moms and dads watching the whole scene unfold with popcorn in their hands. The two of you immediately separated, the two of you now completely embarrassed.
“See, we told you that you’d end up together!” Minjae’s mom said with a laugh.
