how to not get too cold when you have an ED
quick note before i start : i don't pretend to have some miracle solutions for this problem, but i know how hard it is to keep yourself warm when you have an ED and i hope i can help someone to feel better by sharing that. these are things that i do and that work for me, so i don't guarantee that would work for everyone, but maybe you can get some inspo. i'm also making this post because it's starting to get colder here where i live, and i feel like i could become really handy
thermal clothes
i cannot express how these help me. they trap your body temperature, allowing you to warm up more easily. it's quite easy to find, on amazon, or in any sports stores, and not that expensive (you can have one set for 15€/15,81$). this is a really good investment, and you will not regret it.
layering
okay, granted, this one is pretty obvious, but i was a dumbass and refused to layer because i was scared that it would make me look fat. but trust me, being warm is way more important than looking fat, and in reality, you don't look that fat when doing that. what i usually do is :
- putting my thermal clothes first
- wearing a turtle neck or any long sleeves shirt
- wearing a baggy sweater (i really love vintage knitted sweater) or a baggy hoodie
- wearing baggy pants
- wearing thick socks, trust me, it's life saver
when it's a bit colder, i add one or two layers, but this is just my go-to formula, and it works quite well. bonus point because it allows you to make really cute outfits and be creative
cold showers
i know it sounds counterproductive, but hear me out : it's science. when you take cold showers, you basically activate your cardiovascular system, making your blood flows in your body. it will not be a good moment, you will fucking hate it and you will dread this moment, but the combo cold shower and thermal clothes is immaculate. as soon as you get out of the shower, dry yourself and put your thermal clothes on, it's the best feeling in the world.
that being said, please be careful and don't give yourself hypothermia. as i said, it works for me. if you feel like cold shower will not help you, lukewarm showers works too! and also, just know that i don't do that everyday, sometimes, i take really hot showers. do what feels good for you, this is what matter !
hot beverages
coffee, tea, soup, hot water with lemon, anything that will keep you warm. my personal favourite is coffee. also go grab a thermos : it's practical and you can use it in summer too to keep your water cool
hot water bottle
10/10. you place it under your sweater and it keeps you warm ans toasty. only downside is that you can't take it on the go with you
plus look how cute this can look
blankets
another obvious one, but it works
move
at home, every hour, i do a 10-15 min. workout : stretching, abs, squats, plank, russian twists, jumping jacks, etc. at uni, i try to go to the toilet every hour or so, and i go on the first floor, so i can go up and down the stairs. not only you will be warm, but it burns calories, so it's a win-win
these are some of my favourite workout
hand warmers
disposable or reusable. i use them to warm my hands and sometimes i put them on the pocktets of my sweater or pants. not as effective as other solutions but i use that too so maybe it can be useful for some
please remember to stay safe, drink water, take your vitamins and your meds and do stuff that you love :))
