so there's a couple of pieces of advice i have to give about motivation. disclaimer, writing is ultimately a very individualized process and if you find something else that works better than you - absolutely go for it!
the unfortunate reality that everyone loves to avoid about how to make yourself write is that it is the exact same process as how to do absolutely anything at all: task management. trying to do consistent writing requires determining what motivates you, what timeframe you want to complete a project in (barring special circumstances), and how to set realistic short-term and long-term goals. and that sucks, and nobody wants to do it.
the real key to figuring out how to work with these things is what you want from this project, because that'll affect how strictly you'll need to hold yourself to account. people have an idea that you Need to fulfill a certain writing quota per day for your writing to make Adequate Progress TM, but that's not...really the case. there are circumstances where you want to hold yourself to a schedule, in which case deadlines are a very important part of the process! But if you're just writing for fun? There is literally no reason to try to push yourself. imposing unnecessary deadlines makes it difficult to meet them, since there's no real enforcement; and that makes it harder to write, because of the guilt hanging overhead.
in general, i put any project i make on a scale from 1-5:
I am literally just imagining/writing this to pass time/have fun and will never show it to anyone
this is an idea i want to show people, but i dont want it to be a consistent thing
i want to create for this on a regular schedule so that i can make consistent progress so that others can read it
this is a gift, part of a collaboration, or is something i want to eventually publish, and i need to finish it before the deadline
i am literally being paid to write this in a timeframe/am required to submit this for a class.
(you'll note that 3 has no "i want to create on a consistent schedule just for fun." that's because that's still ultimately a 1, not a 3! this isn't about how fast you WANT to complete a project - its about how strictly you NEED to complete a project.
you'll also notice that the escalation, instead of "for fun" to "for job," is "for fun" to "for others to read" to "for job." for a lot of people, cooperative art is simply more enjoyable than art for the self! receiving validation and feedback is an important motivator and influence to being an artist. i tend to bake whether i want people to view my work directly into the process, and you should never feel like wanting that feedback is something to be ashamed of! just make sure you have at least one person around who will be happy for your work with you, so you don't get burnt out on the no-views blues.)
once ive ranked a project, i'll translate it to a numerical format. this is going to sound silly, but you can really, truly use the numbers in any way you like; the important thing is that the number is in there. if you have a 1, it could be that you want to write for at least one hour a day, or one hour a week, or one minute a week, or just work at all one day a week. or one day a month! you have to integrate it somehow, but you can go as far apart as you like, and you can change it on the fly however you feel like. it's a 1! no one is going to get mad at you for doing whatever you want with a 1. as long as you've got literally anything in there, that's good enough!
the higher a project goes, the more strict outside sources get about it, which means that the more rigidly the bounds you have to work within are. if you have a 5 that's due in a week, you can either spend five hours on it or five days - but you won't be able to do five minutes! generally, for me, i need external motivation to write anyway, so a lot of my projects fall at 2 or 3; as a result, i usually try to get a chapter/update in once every 2-3 weeks.
this is sort of a silly system, because by nature it's wildly inconsistent. but i've found that looseness works for me! within that system, you can use whatever motivators you generally get - giving yourself ice cream, taking a break day, whatever you need. the rewards, for me, usually also vary depending on the intensity, and also tends to be more external; for a 1, i'll give myself 1 hour to chill out and daydream about where the story might go, where for a 5, i usually do writing commissions in $5 increments so that there's monetary motivation.
there's a lot of other things to talk about with how to motivate yourself to write, but this is how i do it! if nothing else, i'd advise stepping back to think about how strict your deadlines need to be with whatever work you're trying to do - it's important to be honest with yourself about what your expectations are, and whether they're more/less intense than they need to be for a given work.

Hi. I'm in school and started classes this week.Before leaving my mom told me to drive safe then she said you're doing better than your mama. I felt awkward. She also told me the same thing a few years ago when I went to school for another certification. We don't have the best relationship because she treats me like she doesn't like me and it sucks because she has cancer and I take care of the majority of things in our house...bills,buy all food etc. My brother lives with us and is soon to be 40. Lazy as hell and does the bare minimum. Just uses everyone and doesn't want to move out but she treats him better than me,always have,and allows him to drive her car that I paid to have fixed so it could run because she doesn't work and he wouldn't pay for it. I'm having car issues myself now and she said I can't even drive her car to go to work or school. SMH.
The whole ... you're doing better than your mama bullshit + her nasty attitude towards me is irritating. She's 70. When I move next year I don't want to just leave them behind but I feel a lot of jealousy towards me from her. Because who says that whenever something good happens to their child? Like she doesn't want me to enjoy the moments that I use to cry for and bust my ass for on my own. And why not let me drive the car so I can get to work and class when if it wasn't for me it wouldn't run and I paid car insurance for her while my brother was like fuck her plus I spend so much money trying to make sure she has healthy foods to eat etc.
I don't get why she basically acts like she doesn't love me. Our family is very small and almost everyone has passed.

Sounds like shes never been emotionally supportive, which is disappointing but not surprising.
Shes just likely used to making *her personal plight* the center of the conversation. Which makes sense for a lot of reasons (even though emotionally it sucks, no questions about that).
Parents usually have favorites. And its common for the boys to be treated differently than the girls. Especially Black boys with single Black mothers.
You can love people without giving them full access to your resources, personal space, time, emotional energy etc.
I hope you find ways to divest yourself emotionally and financially from the draining. And that you accept you're not a limitless resources and start enforcing boundaries. Also, this is one of those situations where reaching out for professional help financially and emotionally will make the world of a diff 🌎.

so the scheme of things
gender and all doesn’t really matter to me. it all comes down to doctors really. I don’t think gender should matter in love or life really. personally i prefer masculine pronouns but i so am not lookin as androg as i used to lol. i seriously think it comes down to self on a public spectrum and i hate others dont feel that way.
like, we really just need to care about eachother. times are getting rough and about to get worse. and although i try to avoid it all i see on any news or broadcasts is people vs people. gay vs straight, black vs white, this that.
um.... the world is old as fuck in a universe that is ever expanding and the plant is new in an already old area of our portion of the expansion. we have been searching outward since we decided to explore and only now have we realized that. we are seeing the death of something we don’t know and we think that fighting and hating some one because of something as small as how they see themselves while walking on the same dying planet?
the sun is showing signs of fucking with us more and its a ticking time bomb literally. 2029 isn’t too far and there is a pretty huge rock we fear has a pretty good chance of taking out a few satellites if it passes up. hoping for it to curve.
we are also making it hard for eachother to survive. have you noticed how stocked places are? is it as stocked as it used to be? notice what they are out of? i work in a tourist town where for the past few months we havent had medicine. literally bare! and we are not the only ones. Part of mine and others jobs are making the shelves look stocked when they aren’t. we have to go back to trade and barter. sharing is caring now. home made goods as well as just doing stuff the old way.
we will struggle and there is going to be something big coming. thing is we will be dead by then and the next generations need to learn that it’s not the labels but the person that matters. how you exist on this earth and use the earth to help others.
i know its hippie ideas, but if we stop thinking about gender and treat eachother as equals i think it would change things a lot. the next generations need the future to be the focus and not the past and things that used to divide humans. focus on connecting instead.
i mean i get laughed at for saying if we start in early gym and instead of having things like “female workout” make it just the “male work out” things for kids as young as kindergarten and then keep doing that for that class for the following years and so on. but keep doing it like that (since the classes prior would have surpassed the timing ya know) then they would see eachother as equals and they would learn to train their muscles the same. girls wouldnt be starting at a ‘weaker’ state. also i cant do female pushups now since i broke my leg lol. it was hard before and some teachers didnt really enforce that. however for runs and most others it was weirdly boy girl and even in sports it’s like that. if you train all little humans to do the same pace and as they grow you will literally see a generation difference and see if women are really weaker or are all humans just the same. i’d like to think we are. if we try this maybe we can see eachother as equals. i may be dead but at least the people living in that kind of future can actually look more into themselves as individuals wanting to help other individuals around them physically not online.
the earth is burning and it isn’t even at the worst point yet, the next generations may deal with even worse food shortages and no more room for them. land is a fighting ground and so are homes. roe v. wade is over turned so theres going to be more and more people on this earth that will be eventually out in the world looking for a home some where. we are running out of room. it’s scary to think of us not trying now to have a society of caring and helping eachother.
the earth is going to stop giving and we won’t have food. we will starve and burn to death. maybe no one reading this but the future generations are looking at the end of the life cycle of a planet orbiting around a dying star. we need to live in peace and start helping eachother because greed in hard times is scary. instead of ripping eachother apart we need to help. trade isn’t that bad and farmers markets are amazing. that might be life again and that is not a bad thing. going out to your community around you isn’t as scary as some make it out to be. and if it is then yes fight back, but by showing kindness and calm not agression. it’s scary where i live but even a small mixed ace chick like me has had to learn how to behave around crazies, lol i’m bpd and behavior is a big focus for me and shit. although it’s scary sometimes just being a cool calm head when some one is screaming in my face helps me settle a situation.
i don’t know maybe i’m just a stoner that looks too into space and thinks weirdly of our meaning of acknowledging our existance as one of many different beings on our planet that we are no diffrent than at this point with our need for sex and violence just in weirder ways

Deconstructing baseless Harry Potter arguments #1: Harmony Edition
There’s a very helpful account on instagram (this instagram page merely gathers toxic harmony shippers, they don’t ship Harmione or hate all Harmione shippers, please don’t send them hate, show them love and support) where you can essentially find stupid fucking bashers who make baseless arguments. I’m all for Harmione shippers, as long as they don’t denounce Romione, bash Ron and just peacefully co-exist. To my pleasure, such people are out there: they just dont seem to be seen as often as the ones that are not nice. Maybe all I see is the mean people and the majority is nice, but in this post, I am attacking those who make baseless claims and bash Ron/Romione/Hinny/Ginny. I don’t myself hate all Harmione shippers. On top of that, as a Romione/Ron fan, i do acknowledge Ron’s character flaws along with Hermione’s and I hold them on the same pedestal.

The weird subreddits and discord servers also seem to have a lot of die-hard Harmione “non-canon” shippers. They bash Ron and Romione (along with Ginny and Hinny) with a burning passion without any objective sense of remorse. They ignore all the merits of Ron’s character and bash him to push their agenda. They can’t even do so much as fucking acknowledge any of Hermione’s character flaws but still somehow manage to fixate on that one time when 11 year old Ron just shit-talked one line while Hermione had just publicly humiliated him in front of the Charms class and practically shouted at him for doing the spell wrong just before. I personally don’t because Hermione was 11 too and wasn’t that good at social cues that early on, which is more than okay. Neither am I.
Only a few people in the Romione fandom bash Hermione. And it’s not like Harmione shippers (most, not all!) don’t bash Ron and Ginny remorselessly, right? The fucking hypocrisy.
If someone considers Ron as the best member of the trio, it is their own opinion and not a fact. I do that. If you consider Harry and Hermione as the best member of the trio or in the whole wizarding world, most people don’t give a flying fuck and probably won’t argue with you because it is simply an opinion. That will only happen when you pass that off as a fact.
Statistically speaking, most (not FUCKING all) Harmione moments are in the movies. The weird dance scene especially. The passionate kiss that happens in Ron’s vision, shit like that. Ron is pushed to the sidelines in the last set of movies while Harry and Hermione show each other endless love and support. “I’ll go with you”. The books on the other hand, describe Harry and Hermione as siblings multiple times, with very little Harmione references.

So you don't want us to fixate on the large majority of Harmione shippers who do the exact same thing, just kissing Hermione's and Harry's ass and hating on Ron. However you will fixate on people who are most likely not EVEN bashing or hating but pointing out a few character flaws in Hermione in a fair and unbiased way. I would know, I'm a huge fan of Hermione as an individual character (in the books). The only criticism I've seen of Hermione to this day has not been bashing. In the comment section of my own fics (shameless plug) I've seen some Hermione bashing. On an ao3 comment section. And I've seen so damn fucking many people bashing Ron, Ginny, the Weasleys etc. and garner tens and thousands of upvotes on quora.
What does Ron even need excusing for? The running away incident and Krum. What does Hermione need excusing for? Canaries, contributing to Ron's insecurities by making him jealous through Cormac and Krum even though she didn't even like them (especially not Cormac, she fucking hated him). Ron wore a locket that literally highlighted his fatal flaw (insecurity) in an echo chamber. Harry kept getting annoyed when Ron wanted to check in on his family. Harry asked Ron to leave; Ron didn't say that shit in the books about Harry's parents being dead: that was plain shock value.
And sorry for repeating myself but I have seen quite a few Harmione shippers bash Ron and Ginny and excuse every single thing Harry and Hermione have done.

37 upvotes on this weird comment that makes no sense? Echo chamber alert! You know what us Romione/Ron fans all have in common? We have never experienced such an echo chamber. I made a pro Ron/Romione post on reddit and got a considerable amount of people who bashed Ron and Romione in the comments.
The amount of Hermione haters is very few compared to Ron bashers. Nobody hates Hermione for being independent, determined, etc. We dislike perfect movie Hermione who’s an unrealistic image of females and seems like some sort of agenda than a real woman. Most Romione shippers/Ron fans and book fans in general (except for you apparently) dislike movie Hermione and still are fans of realistic book Hermione. Most, not all. In general, we do not claim anyone who does the exact same thing to Harry and Hermione that these sorts of Harmione shippers do to Ron, Romione, Hinny and Ginny. I say this on the behalf of all Romione shippers and Ron fans.
Ron's not a bitchy lay-about drama causing loser. That's Steve Kloves's movie Ron. In the books Ron is realistic and simplistic and apologizes whenever he causes problems. He acts up substantially twice in a span of 7 years where he is also a hormone-fuelled teenager.
This is so contradictory and juxtaposed to the point of near delusion. First you talk about how Romione shippers bash Hermione and then you bash Ron as a Harmione shipper. Mate, fighting fire with fire will get you called a hypocrite. Fix yourself.

So the movies are fine when they work according to your agenda? And yes how dare he add such a (fake) chemistry fuelled moment between Harry and Hermione while defeating the entire purpose and groundwork for Romione, the sadness caused by Ron leaving and so many more things? Those Harmione moments you mention seem friendship -esque more than anything else.
Steve Kloves's moments ruined many things while just paying fan service to the Harmione fans he'd birthed through years in the course of 6 movies where he showed Ron as a, how you so eloquently describe it, lay - about drama causing bitchy loser, Harry as one dimensional and Hermione as a zero - dimensional Mary Sue who might as well be the main titular character. Obviously Harmione fans such as yourself don't see the problem with it as it fits your narrative

We do care about Harry and Hermione at large. Most Romione shippers rightfully bash Draco, Pansy, etc. not particularly Harry and Hermione, that's quite rare. Harry and Hermione can get along without Ron as friends. Ron and Harry can also get along without. Hermione as friend. So can Hermione and Ron without Harry as friends or more. I don't understand your point and how what you said is any different than Romione or Ronarry’s friendship.

Constant arguing is not what they do. They bicker, they apologize, and sometimes they just do it for the heck of it. They are argumentative teenager. Opposites attract doesn't work in the sense of fire and ice, it works in the case of Brownie and ice-cream. Ron is passionate, laid back and insecure. Hermione's passionate, a workaholic and not as insecure. Ron can help her get calm and composed and get her to give herself a break. Hermione can motivate Ron and re - enforce his confidence.
It wouldn't be step incest. Harry and Ginny do not regard each other as siblings. They do not look similar whatsoever. And a Harmione shipper also bashes Hinny and Ginny along with Ron and Romione? Checks out

(side note: its kind of the same thing that ends up happening to jean-luc and antonio a bit later on, but thats more because they work well together, and less bc either one of them needed a grounding influence)
anyway black sheep and jules again. do not like each other. but that doesnt mean they dont work well together — julia’s got an eye for patterns, and black sheep has every thieving trick in the book ready and waiting up her sleeves (alongside an instinct for thievery)
slowly, as they are forced to work together more and more, they kind of reach a less tense partnership and then one day black sheep makes a history joke and thats how they become friends
like julia is still very pointedly Not friends with the rest of the vile squad bc they’re still very reckless and immature, etc
but shes sort of seen black sheep when she’s been more grounded and less hyper/feral and she?? kind of doesnt mind??
bc grounded black sheep isnt constantly trying to prove that she’s The Best and grounded black sheep isnt trying to prove that she’s more than just the teacher’s pet — she’s kind of just having fun with julia and julia’s been so serious about her training that she hasnt really made any other friends and…. its nice
its nice to have black sheep loudly slip into the seat next to her and and tease julia about whatever recent historical discovery she’s researching and pull her out of her own head once in a while
and its nice to have black sheep glance over in the middle of class when sheena — sorry tigress — whines about something or the other and roll her eyes in the same way julia feels like doing, even if something strange sticks in her throat when carmen does the same with gray
she can’t pinpoint the exact moment, but at some point, she starts thinking of black sheep as her friend and it’s an exciting enough thought that she’s got a little smile on her face next time black sheep slips into the seat next to her in professor maelstrom’s class
and at some point julia stops being just julia to black sheep, and starts being jules because we’re in a school for thieves, but we’ve already got plenty of ~jules~ right here and thats sincerely the worst joke i’ve ever heard and oh really ~jules~? bet i could find an even worse one
and like all the usual stuff is still happening in the background — shadowsan-black sheep rivalry, gray and the Squad being black sheep’s friends, the phone and player, etc.
its just that now, black sheep has a bit of a calming influence and that does help!
and they work well enough that most people assume that julia and black sheep will be partners after graduation
even crackle acknowledges it — despite the jealousy he feels at the knowledge
so things continue and all this happens, but then comes finals.
things go the same. black sheep gets perfect scores in all of her exams, except stealth 101
julia — now the historian — can’t help but check for whether black sheep graduated too and just as she does, she hears crackle say it: she didn’t pass
and she wants to go to black sheep and ask if she’s okay because everyone knows how much black sheep’s wanted this, how much she’s been working for it, but by the time gray’s been dragged off by tigress, black sheep has disappeared and julia has no idea where she’s gone
so she waits for a bit in the cafeteria and in the dorms and anywhere else she thinks that black sheep would be and she sees… nothing
and about twelve hours after the results, the faculty pulls her for her first mission (for context, this is before the whole,,, hear the true name of vile thing) which is basically being a plant for the morocco mission, by pretending to be an archaeology phd student from oxford who’s come to study the findings in the excavation
and she’s busy enough with that that she barely gets to think about black sheep or graduation or anything other than the near-overwhelming anxiety that comes with the horrifying ordeal of potentially being Known but she just manages to figure out like,,, guard rotations, as well as the exact objects that are at the site for the vile squad to steal
and then she’s out before they even get there — julia’s pattern recognition and historical knowledge made her pretty useful when it comes to planning capers so it meant that she’s always travelling around the world ahead of each caper, but would also make her a pretty invaluable asset to vile, so they can’t afford to get her caught
julia doesnt hear about black sheep nearly messing up morocco until much later, and even then, she doesn’t have all the info
all she can do is wonder why the hell the faculty would fail someone who somehow managed to sneak out of vile island without anyone realising until much later
and yes, maybe a part of her misses her old partner, but she knows that it wouldn’t matter anyway — she was the mole, and she’d barely get to work directly with carmen so.
but then cut to a year later, when a vile counterfeit operation in boston is suddenly sabotaged
cut to the moment when, julia, despite not having seen her in a year, is still able to somehow recognise black sheep’s work
its Slick. its the Slickness that tips her off, and part of her is reluctant to tell the faculty who it is, but her allegiance demands it and she tells the faculty and she hates herself for it when she sees the murderous rage on each of their faces
and somehow, that — her ability to recognise this carmen sandiego — gets her in a new position, as a mole in interpol, passing on the information they get as they try to track the scarlet super thief as well
and then one day, in poitiers, julia sees her
its black sheep. it’s undeniably black sheep under that red trench coat and julia wants to go and talk to her capture her and bring her in to vile but her new partner ~chase devineaux~ is everything that once made her turn away from her interest in law enforcement and he orders her to call for backup while he tries to stroke his own ego
she does, of course, but maybe she delays it a bit, if only because she’d rather let carmen sandiego get away than have devineaux’s ego get any bigger
and the rest of the season goes much the same except after julia ends up in acme, she reports to vile about everything that’s going on, and they no longer suspect devineaux of helping carmen etc etc
and she can’t help but somewhat sympathise with what carmen’s doing — she’s returning invaluable historical artefacts and julia’s always loved history and- it’s just… altruistic. and that’s admirable. and that’s the only reason i feel so torn about helping vile. that’s it, that’s the only reason.
and then comes the chasing paper caper
what was originally the first real conversation between julia and carmen goes completely differently
(note that most vile operative outside of jules’ graduating class do not know of her existence bc she barely interacts with most of them since she’s more a spy/mole who’s out of the picture by the time anyone else gets on the scene)
carmen still needs to be able to spy on paper star without anyone noticing, so she still goes for the seat right in front of the cute short-haired girl sitting alo- and oh my god jules?
and its the first time julia has heard that nickname in over a year and oh God they were just friends this should Not hit this hard what the Heck
and carmen still sits down and just quietly grills her as to what the hell is going on bc she Knows that jules is a always a mole and never an active part of a caper and she doesn’t?? understand??
and jules is kind of in a daze, but she’s been Trained so she feeds carmen her cover story:
she defected from vile when she saw how they were treating historical artefacts — melting down gold, selling priceless works of art to the highest bidder, etc. etc. — and that since then she’s been silently helping interpol with taking down vile ops, etc.
and it takes a bit but carmen kind of starts to believe it — she knows julia loves history with all her heart, and she’s… well, she’s never been the kind of recruit that carmen’s expected to see in vile anyway, so. it’s not out of the realm of possibility, is it, for julia to be a defector working against vile? after all, isn’t she the same?
so she starts looking around, while waiting for paper star to make a move, and she ends up noticing the briefcase in the seat next to her, and for some reason, those initials — clearly chase devineaux — make her want to scowl
“new partner?” “oh… its… well, work. work... partner” “oh.”

Why “people with DID are violent and dangerous” is harmful rhetoric
I was kicked out of college for having DID. Not expelled, but I was threatened to have the cops called on me whenever I experienced dissociation. And I regret ever confiding my condition to the disability center on campus. The dean ordered all my professors to phone them if I ever experienced dissociation and they wouldnt elaborate to me what that criteria was fully, but gave me examples such as not recognizing names. My professors didnt know they were going to call the cops, they just knew I’d be taken down to the counseling office. Then whatever poor alter got stuck fronting was confused and scared to death that these people were taking us into a room and threatening to call law enforcement, which I explained to them was a trigger. I also explained it put an easy suicide by cop situation before me. I also explained some alters are children and they may fight back because they dont know any better. I also explained being tazed would retraumatize me bc electric shocks were part of my past trauma. I also explained dissociating isnt inherently dangerous. But they got away with it all by claiming me dissociating put myself and others at risk of harm.
One time it almost happened but my professor walked me down personally and Im forever grateful she did bc when she realized they were going to call the cops she said “Um that seems very unreasonable and dangerous for her dont you think?” and they couldnt be persuaded, but she argued with them to at least let her watch over me so I could call a friend to pick me up (I didn’t have a car and took the bus to class). Oh and I only had 30 minutes for anyone within radius to come get me. And yeah that wasnt even an option before it was call the cops and get fucked they never mentioned letting me just go home. So this woman took time off work, got her assistant to help with class, and watched over me for 20 minutes before my friend got me.
So anyways. Depicting people with DID as violent and perpetuating that bullshit actually becomes a reality for us when people with incorrect perceptions of us act on these ideas. And we could have been shot, traumatized, switched to a suicidal alter, anything, so many things could have happened that day. Im lucky none of that came to pass. But I had to quit college because of this kind of intimidation. So stop treating us like monsters. These ideas have real life effects on real life people. The people that did this to us are the real monsters.

It seems that the entire print and cable pundit class, not to mention every legal “expert” I’ve seen interviewed, has thrown up its collective hands in surrender to the enormity of the cleverness of the Texas legislature.
You know what I’m talking about: the brand new Texas anti-abortion law that forbids abortions after a fetal heartbeat is present, about six weeks after a woman becomes pregnant. Everyone agrees that the law is unconstitutional on its face, but the reason everyone seems to be in a state of retreat is because the way the law was written appears not to leave anyone to sue to stop the law from taking effect.
In fact, to my knowledge, no lawsuit has yet been filed seeking an injunction to stop the law beyond the one the Supreme Court just smacked down in a 5-4 “shadow docket” decision that was a single paragraph in length. This is apparently because of the allegedly “clever” way the Texas legislature wrote the law.
The way every other anti-abortion law has been written in Texas and elsewhere, enforcement has been the job of the senior legal officials of the state – normally the governor and/or attorney general of whatever state has enacted the anti-abortion statute. To enjoin the law from going into effect, these legal officials are sued in federal court, and the federal courts almost without exception have given injunctive relief to the plaintiffs because the 1973 Supreme Court decision making abortion legal, Roe v Wade, is and has been for nearly 50 years the law of the land.
Most state laws attempting to restrict access to abortion or make it effectively illegal have run afoul of the Roe decision in one way or another. Because the court classified the right of a woman to choose to have an abortion as “fundamental,” all laws seeking to limit that right must be evaluated under the so-called “strict scrutiny” standard, the highest standard of judicial review and the most difficult to overcome. This is why, for example, a Texas law passed in 2016 requiring abortion doctors to have hospital admitting privileges, and abortion clinics to meet strict hospital standards such as the width of hallways and medical equipment required to be on hand, was found unconstitutional. The court found the Texas restrictions imposed an “undue burden” on the fundamental right of a woman to choose to have an abortion. The lawsuit resulting in this decision was filed against the senior law enforcement officials in Texas, the governor and attorney general.
The new Texas law restricting abortions to the six-week limit specifically commands that enforcement of the law must not be carried out by the officials traditionally charged with that duty. Instead, the law leaves enforcement of the six-week abortion rule up to “members of the public” who are allowed to sue anyone who participates in an abortion after a fetal heartbeat can be detected at about six weeks. The law allows suits against abortion doctors, clinics, staff, counselors who provide information, lawyers, people helping to pay for an abortion, and even persons providing transportation to the clinic where the allegedly illegal abortion is performed. The only person who cannot be sued is the woman on whom the allegedly illegal abortion is performed.
The law allows pay-outs of $10,000 plus court costs and lawyers fees to anyone who wins such a lawsuit against an abortion provider or anyone who assists with the abortion. The new law specifically forbids courts from ordering that the lawyers fees of defendants be paid by plaintiffs who lose their cases. Anyone is permitted to file one of these lawsuits, including people who do not know the woman seeking the abortion or have any interest in her pregnancy. The law even goes so far as to permit lawsuits by persons not residing in Texas.
See how “clever” those wily Texas legislators were? You can’t sue to stop the new Texas law because there is no Texas official to sue! You can’t sue the governor, or the attorney general of the state, or even local district attorneys because they are not charged with enforcing the law.
There’s the alleged dilemma that’s causing all the consternation, folks. With no one to sue, what are people to do who seek to protect a woman’s right to choose?
Well, I’m here to offer a modest suggestion. The Texas law is being called the “vigilante” law because the private citizens empowered to file law suits against abortion providers are the vigilantes seeking the $10,000 award if they win. The $10,000 is even being called a “bounty.”
A vigilante is a private citizen who attempts to enforce laws or customs by punishing the offender outside the boundaries of the law. I say these people are not vigilantes; they are agents of the state empowered to enforce the Texas “heartbeat” law by the legislature of the state which authored the law and by the Texas governor who signed the law. In effect, they have been deputized by the state of Texas as individual law enforcement officers. The governor and the legislature may as well go around and hand out Texas Ranger badges, because that’s what they have effectively turned the citizenry into.
So who can you file a lawsuit against to stop the law? Anyone who acts in the capacity of a law enforcement official by filing a lawsuit seeking to stop an abortion or punish a person aiding and abetting one. The lawsuits can be filed in federal court against these mock-deputies of the state of Texas for conspiring to violate the constitutional right of the woman who decided to have the abortion, and for violating the civil rights of anyone who assisted in the abortion.
Among the rights being violated might be, in the case of the proverbial “Uber driver” the right to carry out the free and fair trade of his or her business. The right to privacy of others may be said to have been violated by the plaintiff filing the suit who would have had to conduct surveillance in order to prove that a defendant was involved in the abortion. The right to free speech of a counselor would be violated by a plaintiff alleging that he or she had provided perfectly legal information to a woman seeking an abortion under Roe v Wade. The right to privacy of the woman who is alleged to have received an illegal abortion would be violated by anyone who gained access to private medical information that would purport to “prove” that a heartbeat could be detected and thus the woman had passed the six-week limit imposed by the law.
The collection of proof involved in these vigilante lawsuits is the biggest problem they face. How are they going to prove there is or isn’t a heartbeat? With an ultrasound? Who is going to order this procedure, which in order to listen to a very new fetus is usually performed vaginally, thus becoming an invasive procedure. Are they going to get a court order to insert an ultrasound wand inside the vagina of a woman? Blood tests using needles are similarly invasive. Who is going to order these tests? Who is going to conduct them? How are they going to provide a plaintiff with private medical information that is protected as private by federal laws?
As many federal lawsuits could be filed as there are so-called “vigilantes” suing abortion providers and those who assist them. Perhaps if those seeking the big $10,000 pot of gold at the end of the vigilante rainbow are faced with the prospect of a judgement against them of $1 million or more a federal court finding that they have violated civil and constitutional rights of abortion providers, staff, assistants, counselors, “Uber drivers” and others, they will think twice before they give a yank on the shiny new one-arm-bandit of the Texas legislature.
I’m not a highly-paid legal “expert” on MSNBC, but unless I miss my guess, the federal courts in Texas and elsewhere will not be happy if they are suddenly deluged with lawsuits seeking relief from the yahoos trying to game the system in Texas by filing suits in state courts under the new Texas anti-abortion law. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the Supreme Court itself got a little perturbed if suddenly their precious “shadow docket” were buried under a pile of appeals from federal suits against the Texas “vigilantes.” Judges don’t like messy dockets. They especially don’t like being forced to work the extra hours that would be necessary to deal with the massive quantity of federal lawsuits which might result from this madness.
Until the Supreme Court hears the Mississippi abortion case seeking to overturn Roe v Wade and decides whether or not to accept their arguments and overturn Roe, that decision stands as the law of the land. The Texas “vigilante” anti-abortion law is a naked attempt to get around that decision and deny women a right found to be “fundamental” under Roe. It’s not even a very smart naked attempt.
The way you fight bad people with bad ideas is with good people and good ideas. The ACLU and the Center for Reproductive Rights and Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro Choice America and the National Organization for Women and any number of other liberal organizations must have a whole passel of lawyers as “clever” as those in the Texas legislature. The faster they get busy, the better.

Accidental Family Man Au
remember that one ask where I talked about some projects? This is one of them. Enjoy dad franky!
So it begins with Franky – a back alley repair in the illustrious mechanic city of Water 7 – a miracle engineering city, they call it, with intertwining roads of cars and rivers. Venice, if Venice was made of concrete and had a road system above its water system, twisting above houses and everything.
Franky used to be one of those engineers that created those miracles, but an accident later, and he’s the scourge of the city and half bionic, making his living in back alley repair shops where you either pay with cash or your life.
He never said he was a good guy, did he Ice Burg?
He still has connections though – and these connections lead to Iceburg, and to the Straw Hats.
Iceburg’s the mayor, of course, and while he doesn’t care much for his public image, he knows that if he starts accepting money from shady kids who showed up to his doorstep possibly covered in blood with a woman who he swears he’s seen before beside him, that maybe Water 7’s people will take a hit for harboring criminals.
But hey, He knows a guy already doesn’t he?
So he sends these kids and their broken van down to the Franky House to see if he would fix their beloved, broken, van.
The Straw Hats never reach it, because the woman (Robin) gets kidnapped and a fight breaks out, leading to the separation of the group,
So the story really begins with Franky and the little broken down RV called The Going Merry, previously belonging to the kid who’s standing in front of him, begging him to fix it.
More Hcs Below cut including actual dad Franky stuff lol
That kid is Usopp, and he’s asking because Franky’s the only repair man in the illustrious city of Water 7 that will possibly accept the cash that Usopp has to offer.
He doesn’t.
Instead, he attempts to kick the kid out and gets kidnapped in return.
Oops
So, Franky’s introduced to Ennies Lobby one of the worst places this side of the country – where people go and never come back, and hey, whats this kid doing kicking down the door?
Safe to say, Franky is rescued, and learns a little more of their story.
And Safe to say, Franky sees the woman they are going to save (him, and a bunch of teenagers and some 12 year old brat) and he near damn falls in love with her on sight and definitely does when he actually talks to her.
They save Robin, and start running – of course, Merry the van is just barely struggling to save all their added weight but they make it but also merry’s totaled.
So Franky shows them his pet project, The Thousand Sunny, supposed to be his super get away, home a way from home rv but with a few modifcations… the Straw Hat Gang has a new home. And a new crew member.
Franky learns everyone’s stories and about all the absolutely shady shit they are into. He learns he fits right in.
And then… then the moments start happening.
He helps Usopp fix up the Sunny, and teachers him about cars and such.
He and Chopper start bonding over bionics and medical shit that went into building his body.
Zoro and him geek out over comic heroes (this, at least in zoro’s part, is canon the big nerd.)
He helps Nami out with some headings and listens to her troubles.
Sanji and him go fishing one day and it’s the most surreal experience of Franky’s life because this teen is in a three-piece suit and catching giant fish out on the shore of some lake? What?
Franky gives Luffy advice and pulls him out of fights and shows him cool robot things.
And its two months in when Franky realizes – here is it actually typed out lmao
“In all honesty, Franky doesn’t know how it happens.
Well.
He has a vague idea.
(Can you save her? Please? Merry’s the best.)
But still – tracing the events that led up to him frantically calling Ice-for-brains at one am in the morning at a near abandoned gas station on the west coast was a hard task.
“Hello?”
Finally.
“Ice-for-brains,” He starts using the familiar name.
“Flunky? The hell? What are you calling me now?”
“Iceberg.” The use of his real name quiets him. He knows this is serious. Franky takes a deep breath, and exhales, saying the next words in a single breath. “I accidently became a dad to six crazy teenagers. Help.”
…
“Goddamnit bastard-berg this is no time to laugh!””
AND THEN HE GOES ON TO HAVE MORE DAD ADVENTURES INCLUDING:
Organizing the kids at Sabaody Park
being emotional support for all these kids trauma please world, give them a break
doing his best to say no to allowing luffy to swim with sharks but giving in anyway
being a component (aka fierce menacing bodyguard) in his daughter’s nami’s schemes
breaking up fights
Attempting to ground known criminals who may or may not be stronger than him
Modifying the RV so that they can have Brook and Jimbe on it as well
“MCDONALDS! MCDONALDS! MCDONALDS!”
Overthrowing the government in at least three different countries because his kids wanted to
Doing experiments with illegal fireworks on Usopp’s behest
“Do you want to play catch” “Franky that’s dynamite that we found in the stach what the fuck- “Do you want to play catch” “…Yes.”
Explaining Safe Sex to teenagers who have biggers worries such as the government
Teaching them all how to drive. He thinks hius heart has popped out of his chest.
Snoring loudly on their tiny couch and everyone just dogpiling on him

Uh anyway uh PART TWO – THE OTHER FCKING STRAWHATS
Note: Everyone is aged down three years from pre TS ages to enforce the fact that 1) the government is fucking nuts for assigning bounties to these kids in this au 2) give more dad moments as while we all need a dad in our lives at any age it gives me more plausible reason here 3) plot related issues and the fact that this story takes place over several years and 4) the image of a 14 year old taking down the government is hilarious to me.
So.
Moving on.
Luffy – 14 years old and an absolute bastard
Luffy grew up in the port city of Fuusha as a way for Garp to keep an eye on him because of his family connections and make sure nothing bad happened to him - didn’t quite work out.
dads a terrorist, his brothers a world class criminal, his gramps is an abusive piece of shit but also weirdly protective marine officer, his family’s complicated.
he grew up in the seedy underbelly of the city and made friends with a lot of criminals (who helped him get out because hey that five year old who used to steal our food is a brat and maybe we should help him get out before he becomes to chaotic (too late) and becomes our friend (also too late) )
Among these criminals are Shanks, who wanders through once in a while, Buggy, begrudging friend, Jimbe, because he has connections, Crocodile, because this brats a bastard, and Rayleigh, among others.
Annoys them to make him his friend, continues annoying them afterwards.
He just thinks they’re neat.
Luffy leaves two months after Ace, his brother under Dadan’s, the local gang leaders, roof, leaves because Ace can’t tell him to stay behind anymore
but the govt got word now he’s on the run – Coby helps him escape
As such, Luffy grows up with a very very skewed moral compass as in canon but a bit more, and now literally is almost ten times more feral as he should be.
His goal is now to do whatever he wants, without people telling him what to do or that he can’t do that – He’s going to be free, damnit.
Franky understands and learns over time to adjust his Parenting Skills accordingly
Zoro – 16 and illegally owning a motorcycle because he thought the best way to improve his skill was to go out and hunt down people to fight, and of course he needs a motorcycle to do that, doesn’t he?
He was pulled over for speeding then taken in for being underage
He is also caught up in some bad stuff (fight circles, bounty’s, etc. this kids 16 and breaking grown men’s spines.)
Then comes Luffy who was also arrested for dine and dashing and is in the back seat.
Luffy, who after the police car pulls over, punches out the police officer, unlocks Zoros cuffs and tells him “Drive”
So they drive
“Hey, hey Zoro. Join my crew. It’ll be fun.”
“Anything you say captain”
knows Luffy for three seconds and is immediately down to murder with him
Its great
He wants to become the greatest sword fighter still, which is still a thing in my fantasy modern world, so anyway, picture this 16 year old going up to you and tell you to fight but he has a sword in his mouth and in both hands and the most dangerous look in his eye.
He and Luffy immediately rob a sword shop to find him new swords after they meet, it becomes a thing later on where they will steal (horribly, they literally crash in through the window every time because they have no subtly) something small from each city they visit.
Nami - 15 year old pick pocket in the city where luffy and zoro stop, just trying to scrap up some money to pay off her family’s debt.
Bellmere’s still alive damnit.
Nami thought Zoro and Luffy were police originally (because they are driving around in stolen police car) and tried to pull the ‘oh officer help me’ card when the people she stole from chased after her
To her surprise, it was two kids her age in the front seat.
Luffy: “get in”
she gets in
they dont talk about it
The people who were chasing her was Buggy’s gang who Luffy waves at as he goes by
Buggy sends a message to Shanks which is essentially “hey that brat u liked is still alive”
And Shanks is like “oh thank god” not knowing the terror he has unleashed upon the world
A month later Arlong has mysteriously disappeared and the Bell-mere farm is flourishing while the second daughter becomes a world class criminal.
Bell’meres never been prouder and it gives Nojiko a great conversation starter.
Usopp’s 14 and lives in a trailer park called syrup alone
Has a business where he sells odd herbs and such, passing them off as anything that will get him some money – think of it as Toad Oil from Wano but with some popgreens and such mixed in.
His goal is get enough money to stand on his own and leave the park but its slow going. And then…
Luffy punches the heck outta the creep that was creeping on the owner of the park, kaya, and think’s Usopp’s stories are super cool.

At this point, the Straw Hats have realized that driving a stolen police car around is a bad idea
so they take the huge van - a gift from Kaya named The Going Merry, and set off, using Nami’s stolen funds to get them by.
Sanji - 16 year old who longs to be a chef with the best food and just wants to feed people who need it
He hates government cause they don’t feed people and has a lot of petty grudges and helps Zeff run a lot of kitchens to help people.
He’s still the Sous chef of the Baratie and still has a penchant for kicking unruly customers around. Baratie has a less then stellar reputation for service but the food? The best in the land.
He feeds Luffy the food.
Luffy likes the food.
Luffy kidnaps Sanji
Zeff worries about it but he can’t do jack since he actually is not Sanjis legal guardian (he kidnapped the kid first on accident after they both were stranded. He still tries to call anyway, and is proud of the change his son is making in the world. He’s currently working to get suspicious government people off his back about his missing Sous chef with the unique curly eyebrow…
Anyway, Sanji becomes the cook for the strawhats and is really happy because everyone likes his food and he can help anyone along the way and send business to the baratie
Its a good deal for him, and with all the places he visits his skill grows as a chef.
Chopper - 12 year old prodigy who really wants to be a doctor but both his legal guardians are out of the way
Hiruluks dead and Kureha, against her will because she’s still beautiful at 100 dammnit, is in a nursing home trying to break out
Chopper has nowhere to go but still tries to pursue his medical career, and this fucking twelve year old does so by patching up people from bar and gang fights.
The Straw Hats pick him up and Usopp hacks into a govt control thing to sign him up for online medical course
Kureha’s proud and gives him a book of pressed cherry blossoms that was Hiruluk’s
He cries
Chopper gets lots of practice for medical stuff with Luffy and Zoro who like to fight in fighting rings just for the heck of it, and for the money that Nami wants.
Robin – 25 year old depressed archeologist (and assassin) they found in a mafia in the next country over (Vivi’s)
Crocodile’s running it, aka Luffy’s criminal uncle number 500
Luffy’s pissed about it and smacks him into the dust because it’s his friends country, and then drags Robin along because she needs to have some adventure, and hey, they are checking out the ruin’s next, wont that be cool?
So robin comes along as the ‘adult super vision’, at least in Nami and Usopp and Chopper’s mind.
She learns that these kids have some how been able to dodge school, and starts teaching them the basics of what they would need to know, and then any thing else they want to know. (Zoro, she finds, is extremely good at math while Sanji enjoys chemistry. Nami and Usopp catch on quick, while Chopper has his own studies already but enjoys talking to her. Luffy dislikes learning, but if the promise of pirates or foods or letters that wont spin in his head is involved, he’ll gladly sit down for a bit. He especially loves the stories however.)
Robin finds herself inching dangerously into mom territory, and accepts it whole heartedly after meeting Franky, who she finds handsomely hilarious.
She has a shady past but is slowly opening up about it, and knows she will watch the world burn for this crew.
Y’all know about Franky already so im gonna move on.
Brook – super fucking Old musician they found on the street looking for his dog Laboon
He used to be a star but lost his fame but doesn’t care – he only wants to make people happy with his music.
Luffy just straight up just drags him into the sunny, its becoming a habit of him kidnapping people, that’s not how you make friends Luffy (or at least it shouldn’t be – he always seems to make it work.)
Everyone just goes with it at this point while Franky sighs and triie sto figure out how to make a giant RV even bigger
The Crew find out his dog is living in luffy’s home town and used to play with Luffy when his friends weren’t around. They vow to go back once everything dies down, but in the mean time Dadan gets a new guard dog in her house hold
Usopp posts one (1) video of Brook (on Halloween in skeleton make up) and he instantly becomes a revived star, thriving on the mytery of the Skeleton Soul King.
He now posts videos from around the world of him singing but its impossible to predict where he will be next, and he’s invisible with out his make up to the internet, so its good for the whole criminal thing.

No one knows exactly how he knows luffy beyond luffy himself but they are 90% sure its something to do with the underground warlord system that Luffy has connections too
He gives the best hugs, Uncle Iroh but without the well-meaning manipulation.
He’s tired of responsibility that he has in his underground position and kinda wants to fuck off to the Caribbean but then he meets luffy again and is like this is better
He Leaves the fishman gang behind with subordinate in charge and joins strawhats
He becomes stressed - “Why did you choose an archeologist and a man who wears speedos for adult supervision, how are you alive, do you need a hug, do you know basic math, have you even gone to school, oh thank god Robin is here - ”
Two minutes later
“Do you have code names, can I have one,”
He’s a big faker the dummy everyone can see right through you, you’re aren’t on this crew if you have common sense
Between dad moments, essentially its just the Straw hats breaking in and causing havoc where ever they go, building their bounties and being a found family.

"Thats the symbol of rebirth if i recall my college classes correctly" Adrian's assistant said and to be honest it was the first time Kamilah noticed her and she is indeed impressed, but more importantly drawn to her eyes, that she feelt like they are familiar.
"What's your name?" Kamilah asked casually, trying to learn more about her
"Amy, and you are that successful CEO of Ahmanet Financial" Amy added smiling "i was inspired by your work"

After the meeting with Lester, Adrian and Amy, Kamilah was completely focused on the mysterious girl and how magnetic she was. She knew better so she excused herself to talk privately with Adrian to express her concerns.
"Did you notice something odd with your new assistant?" Kamilah said crossing her arms
"Not at all, you dont like her?" Adrian smirked "you couldn't take your eyes off her"
"Please, thats my suspicion, she is to magnetic even for me" she scoffed

He invited Amy in and she awkwardly stood next to him, her eyes on the floor
"Dont be so shy darling i dont bite..much" Kamilah said teasingly but that only made it worse, Amy blushed and felt more embarrassed than ever.
"You make my assistant uncomfortable" Adrian pointed out to soothe the situation
"Did i do something wrong? Did i fail your test Mr Raines?" Amy asked confused on why she invited her into the conversation.
"Adrian is just fine and no everything was perfect, i am just checking after you saw me and Nicole--"
"Sucking her blood? Yes that's.. yea" Amy looked terrified but then the realisation hit her
"That means you are--"
"A vampire yes" Kamilah finished her sentence rolling her eyes
But the girl gasped feeling more uneasy than before. But Adrian touched her shoulder reassuring her with his smile
Kamilah scanned at her curiously. She reached to stroke her arm for support but a wave of electricity hit her so hard that it brought her to her knees.
"Kamilah!!" Adrian held her as she closed her eyes going far, far away.

Being a polemarch was never easy, especially leading wars, watching homes burn and people die. It was so strange, falling in love in those circumstances will always be a mystery to Kamilah but the woman was so magnetic and her energy only pulled her closer to her.
"Evelyn" the woman said, she fought on Kamilah's command but she never had a chance to have a talk. She was so good that she invited her on her tent to discuss the details of their next attack.
"Right Evelyn, so you will take 10 men and go South while we will go sneak behind the re-enforcements to weaken them" Kamilah said demandingly but that didn't stop the woman from protesting.
"Thats dangerous, are you sure you can pull this off?" Evelyn warned her and it surprised her. No one questioned her leading skills or warn her, it was fascinating.
"Are you doubting me?" she approached closer pointing her finger on the woman's chest "never doubt me"
Evelyn smiled "dont play it so tough" she dared to tease the Kamilah Sayeed
"You are different aren't you?" Kamilah gave her a faint smile

2 months passed and today was the night before they would put Kamilah's plan into work.
Her and Evelyn spent an awful amount of time together discussing the attack and surprisingly stuff about their life.
"And so i decided to fight on wars, because they took my family away from me" Evelyn said looking at the stars on the sky melancholically
Kamilah knew that pain to well, her brother was taken away from her and she wasn't in control of the situation. She is angry, sad and leading wars brought her peace, revenge, relief.
She dared to stroke her arm sympathetically
"I know what you mean" she signed considering her next words "i never wanted to lead wars, but when my brother didn't come back i needed to get all that range out, i wanted revenge"
Evelyn squeezed her hand tightly "i am here for you" and before Kamilah could do anything she felt a pair of lips on hers.
She pulled away stunned "Evelyn.." but then she shut her up again with a kiss, and another one and another.

Kamilah was fixing her armor when she felt two strong arms around her "Think about it, its dangerous" Evelyn said with a pleading tone
Kamilah signed, she turned around to face the woman but it made it worse. Her green eyes were teary and her normal confident posture was replaced by fear and stress
"I promise everything will be just fine" to reassure her she pecked her lips "now get ready to go to your position, and remember if something go wrong send one of your men to us"
Evelyn nodded, trying to pray to gods for Kamilah to be alright.

Hiding in their positions Evelyn paced back and forth in stress. Kamilah would ambush the enemies in the time being and she couldn't imagine losing her.
One of the men ran trying to get everyone's attention.
"Eve.. Evelyn..the.. ambush..failed..they knew it..they..they" the man tried to take a deep breath "they attacked us first" everyone gasped but most importantly panicked since they didn't discuss what will happen if the plan fail.
Evelyn's hands became fists in the thought of Kamilah being hurt so she ran to her horse without a word, going alone straight to the lion's den.

When she was nearby she could hear metal clicking violently on another, men screaming in pain, bones breaking, smoke filling the air.
But then there she was, Kamilah in the front row protecting her men giving them quick orders. Without hesitation Evelyn took her sword out and ran towards the battle field.
A soldier smirking tried to sneak behind Kamilah but Evelyn's sword dove deep into his chest making him scream.
When Kamilah turned around she gasped seeing Evelyn but she was glad she was there with her. "What are you doing??" she asked as chaos involved around them
"Less talking more surviving" Evelyn pointed out at two men lurching towards them but failing completely.

The fight was going successfully that until bolts filled the night sky making a cloud above them. Everyone ran to take cover but Kamilah was far from finding a place to protect herself so she accepted her fate.
Evelyn looked behind her to make sure Kamilah was right there with her but she saw her hopelessly waiting for the bolts to take her life.
Closing her eyes she said a prayer, that until two strong arms pushed her to the ground covering her body. Evelyn gasped in pain, her eyes filled with tears.
Kamilah's eyes widened at the sight. Fresh blood ran from many parts of her body making her scream in pain. The soldiers ran to kill the remain enemies as Kamilah held Evelyn close to her chest, her hand hovering uselessly over her wounds.
"Evelyn why.." she tried to speak but for the first time she was speechless.
"I.. couldn't.. watch you..die" she said winching as the pain became more and more unbearable.
Kamilah pressed her forehead to Evelyn's, tears forming in her eyes. She wanted to say something but she couldn't, she felt powerless
"The great Kamilah Sayeed..never..cries..i am just..a soldier" she said with a faint smile on her lips, trying desperately to keep her eyes open
"No dont say that..you are special..we..we had a connection..i.." Kamilah couldn't possibly put into words that she fell in love with her because she didn't want to admit it
Before she could say anything else Evelyn closed her eyes murmuring something that sounded like i am coming mother.
Kamilah sat there, unconscious Evelyn was to far gone for her to try to save her. Fresh tears ran down her cheeks as the chaos around her faded, the screams echoed on her mind.

Kamilah gasped coming back to reality only to see Amy's green eyes. Her eyes widened in recognition, her arm reaching to stroke her cheek "Evelyn.." she whispered making both Adrian and Amy confused.
"I am Amy, remember? Oh my god Adrian what if she forgot everything what--" but Kamilah stood up waving her hand dismissively "none of that, i just didn't feed for a week" she lied, not wanting to talk about her painful past.
Amy approached while Adrian went to fetch a blood bag from his office.
"Why did..why did you call me Evelyn?" She asked curiously but she was hesitant, knowing that Kamilah is cynical.
"Long story" she admitted looking at her eyes again, they were indeed like Evelyn's, she was just as magnetic as her.
Life is giving me a second chance.. Evelyn is reincarnated.. impossible Kamilah thought but then she smiled at Amy "do you want to have dinner with me?" her question sounded forward but she didn't care, life gave her a second chance to love
Amy nodded, her cheeks bright scarlet "Why not" she finally said smiling.
Kamilah felt a warm feeling in her heart after centuries, she finally smiled and felt happy. They both exited the building going for dinner, Kamilah promised to herself to do anything to protect Amy, just the way she wanted to protect Evelyn.

so. basically. tl;dr i ffuucking hate school it sucks and it doesnt. do ANYTHING but make things worse . anyway.
the schooling system like. it sucks for me specifically in a few ways idk abt anyone else. for starters; neurodivergency literally at all makes it so hard to function in a classroom environment. its so loud? idk if anyone else gets that in their classrooms but you can hear my class of 23~ from the bottom floor of the 3 story building and that’s considered quiet. as well as like, i cannot function in a classroom without my friends? im out at school and like.... everyones.. transphobic obv why wouldnt they be, and its not in like a..any avoidable way. if i sit with the guys they’ll refuse to talk to me and deadname me all period adn if i sit with the girls theyll laugh at me every time i fucking breathe idk, but the school still thinks putting me in a classroom with kids that visibly hate me and see me as a CRINGE ENTERTAINMENT IRONY MACHINE is like a good idea? and a good way for me to make friends? i dont know if its my luck or if they’re deliberately doing it, but, next term for example i have drama and cooking as classes. two of my friends also have cooking ....but they dont have me in their class. they’re together. but im not in their class. im on my own because other than them and the girl who already did cooking these past two terms (so she cant do it next term) i have.... no other friends. so im definitely in a class of complete strangers! and the way they have this school, you have no choice but to work with someone else in a cooking class...... you are paired with someone in the same mini kitchen and its a disaster but i digress.
also, like. school goes for 6 hours. by the time you get home and get changed and get settled, its sunset so you can’t go out and do anything. you can’t go to the park or climb a tree. youre stuck inside. your family is like groggy from work or whatever and doesnt want to talk to you. you have no energy to get online and talk to your friends online. or theyre asleep. so basically at least for me i get... no time to actually talk to my friends, for example i havent had an actual conversation with piper in like... two months i swear. we’ve forgotten how to talk to eachother and that actually goes with all of my friends. by the weekend we’re still awkward because we havent spoken in months so we can’t really even talk. and because of this rigid like, routine you have to have to actually be able to go to school at all (wake up 7. eat. get dressed. go to school. come home. get changed. eat. shower. go to bed. repeat), i actually like.... find myself. forgetting Everything. i dont know what it is about strict routine where i cannot be myself (my school has a strict and ugly uniform), but it makes me ... completely forget everything slowly and my memory decays. my time blindness gets worse to the point where i dont know what month it is on a regular basis and like... i ditch a lot? because of this? maybe if the schedule didnt make me dissociate and forget everything i wouldnt ditch constantly and like. actually go to school. but like my attendance is... im not at school 25% of the time because i physically cannot go every single day and attend to that rigid and exact cycle that doesnt even teach me anything
doesnt even teach me anything? i dont ... learn anything from school. they like. reteach the same meaningless part of a subject every single year. every year in religious studies in october i learn about the rosary and we spend a lot of the period praying the rosary and i like. ok. cool. its a religious school yeah but what am i actually learning from this. and every year in social studies we learn abt the waitangi treaty but the way they teach it is so whitewashed and utopian and its fucked and they teach it the same way every year around the same time. and anzac day. and in math im not going to use any of those skills you teach me, i dont care about algebra or anything because thats not really going to actually help me in my life im an artist for fucks sake teach me about managing my own finances! teach me how to do taxes! teach me how to function in the society i live in! teach me the important things that ill sink under or die without knowing i want to actually know important things but by cramming so many unimportant things in my brain all the time i forget the actual important things, i fucking failed basic addition and subtraction last year, i’ve forgotten division and multiplication past the 10 times table, but i can vaguely read an algebra equasion BUT FUCKING ALGEBRA EQUASIONS WILL NEVER UFCKING GET ME ANYWJERE!!!!! and it makes me so fucking angry i want to learn and function and KNOW
and the way they tightly bundle everyone to being one conforming individual who dresses like everyone else, is at the same intelligence level as everyone else, is a catholic like everyone else, does not question authority as everyone else or does not question themselves like everyone else or think like anyone else OR BE DIFFERENT THAN ANYONE ELSE makes me want to FUCKING THROW UP. there are so many hopes and dreams that i remember watching from primary school to now sink into a hopeless pit of stereotypes and basic conformity, people who used to be nice are suffocated into being horrible people so that theyre liked by their peers or get anny attention from the school at all, guys who used to respect women (god forbid) suddenly becoming horrible to anyone of any slightly different gender identity but you can actually see on their face how weird it is to them, waves of 11-14 year olds getting nose studs that get infected and they’re forced to have them taken out by the school, kids trying to do their makeup to look like SOMEONE to BE AT ALL DIFFERENT FROM ANYONE ELSE are put right back in their place and told to take it all off and their parents are called and if youre caught with the wrong jacket your parents are called and youre told youre too poor to wear what the school provides yet THEY DONT EVEN LET YOU WEAR WHAT THE SCHOOL PROVIDES WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS 70 DOLLAR HOODIE FOR WHEN YOU WONT LET ME WEAR IT WHILE IM SHIVERING I DONT SEE THE POINT OF ENFORCING SUCH TIGHT POINTLESS SMALL BOUNDARIES OF WHAT A PERSON CAN BE WHY IS IT SO LIMITED? are we not allowed to do anything? you cant even have one strip of hair dye yet a teacher can have a full head of bright purple hair what’s that about? you can have antisemetic pins on your senior year blazer jacket but the second you put a pride pin on there youre called to the principals office and asked why youre promoting this to kids
you try a speech on trans rights and they dont even pass you and pretend its because you got over the time limit but you didnt, you timed it yourself for your friends you didnt get over the time limit and you know it but you didnt even place in fourth you placed last out of 6 or 8 and you wonder why that is because every year in the past you soared into first so whats that about???? in my speech i said be yourself and dont be afraid to experiment with your gender lightly and they told me to take it out because its seen as too much and i said what the fuck? that’s the most important part of my speech, i want to promote acceptance in others and the self and they said take it out or you cant present your speech. they actively suffocate any sort of self expression or nonconformity of any sort you have to be a plain cookiecutter boy or girl and thats it you cannot be anything else, for nearly 6 months theyve fought me and my mom about my hair but if anyones being hurt by it its me because it draws more attention to the kid you can call slurs, are you hurt because im actually expressing myself? are you hurt by my little sharp stud earrings and my industrial piercing and the embroidered cuff on my shirt? are you offended by the heart on my belt or the platforms on my school shoes because the last time i checked none of these were illegal things to have at school
this kind of got a lot angrier than i meant to make it but ive been . really angry abt this for the past year idk. i really just wanted to write this because i ahvent spoken to piper properly in months and the way we talk now seems like when we just met but i cannot carry a conversation anymore because school knocked the wind out of me all over again and the sudden inability to talk to any of my friends online makes me want to scream until my lungs give out im so tired

Chapter 8
Easter was this weekend. You never celebrated in a religious sense but liked the preparation for it in school, like the crafting of egg baskets or drawing on eggshells. Still, you didn't like the thought of it passing without your dad by your side. The thought of him not hiding a few sweets around the house was saddening.
It's been almost three months without him, and while you weren't losing hope, clinging to the thought of him being alive, you really wanted him to be home for Easter so you could give him the egg you had colored in art class. It had the easter bunny on it. Or rather your best impression of it. You really didn't know what a humanoid rabbit had to do with jesus coming back from the dead, but you liked to think it had some connection. And now you had no smart ass dad who would answer your question with an outrageous and funny story exactly why the Easter-bunny and Jesus were connected before telling you the real truth an hour or so later. It bummed you out. And researching it yourself didn't have the same feeling to it.
Tuesday evening you were unaware what was just happening on a continent miles and miles from home. While you were falling asleep in his bed that was barely holding his scent anymore, a certain someone had just escaped his captors. Miles and miles away from home. And was now lost in a seemingly endless desert.
So you fell asleep feeling secure surrounded by the faint smell of your father still lingering deep within his unchanged sheets.
The dream you were having was hectic. It had slides, fireworks, a gameshow with ghosts and much more seemingly senseless themes that made complete sense within the dream.
Around 3am, maybe later, you were woken up by your uncle. He was shaking you a bit. Gently whispering for you to wake up, that he had good news and such.
You, half asleep, sat up yawning and were handed a phone by an ecstatic looking uncle Happy.
"Hello?" You mumbled as you rubbed the sleep out of your eyes. Still exhausted from the early wake up.
"Hey, Stark Jr. Good morning. I have someone here who desperately wants to talk to you. He said it can't wait. Should I let him?" Rhodey's voice came through the speaker sounding as if he was speaking through a smile.
In your tired confusion you just said "Yeah?" not really thinking about anything but how tired you were.
"Hey Bug. How are you?" The tired familiar voice sounded through the phone and awoke you suddenly.
You paused for a second, your still half sleeping brain processing the voice that was ringing through the phones speaker. Your stomach had reacted before you and was giving you a ton of happy little kicks.
"Daddy?" You asked in a shushed tone almost afraid it wasn't true. That your mind was just playing a cruel trick on you. But smiling nonetheless.
"Yeah Bug, how've you been?" A voice that clearly belonged to your father said softly with a smile you wouldn't be able to see.
"Daddy!" you said as your grin grew.
"Yeah I think we went over that."
"I'm great! Are you okay? When are you coming home?" you said basically bouncing up and down in his bed.
"I'm fine now. We're boarding the plane in a few minutes so about, a handful of hours? I'll be home soon don't worry. What's the time over there? Did Happy wake you up?"
"I don't know, yes. Come home soon daddy. Can I pick you up at the airport?"
"Of course, you and Pepper and Happy will all come to the airport later okay?"
"Okay!"
There was a short pause.
"I have to hang up now sweetie, see you soon. I love you."
"I love you too daddy. See you later."
And with that the call ended and your cheeks were starting to hurt from smiling so brightly, happy tears were rolling down your cheeks. You sniffles as you said the next words.
"Uncle Happy, Daddy's coming home!" You jumped around the bed full of energy you didn't know what to do with before engulfing you uncle in a hug. Happy smiled and returned the bear hug.
"I have to show daddy what I've done while he was gone! Where is my diary? I need to check it." Happy handed you your diary together with your pen knowing full well you wouldn't go back to sleep now. You began flipping through it perfecting everything so your dad would know in full detail what you did the last three months. Happy left you to it and began making breakfast. Really early breakfast.
You ate and went to school like normal but today you were telling everyone about why you were so happy. The fatigue from being woken up so early hadn't set in at all.
Back home you prepared your diary some more and put the timeline you had crafted in school with your pictures in the back.
"Daddy will like this." you said to yourself and put it in your backpack ready to go pick him up. Though you were gonna have to wait one more hour for that.
You just bounced around the mansion making sure all your craftsmanship was still intact so your dad would be able to see them and be proud. Knowing that if you sit down for too long you'll fall asleep.
You also couldn't wait to show him the egg you had painted in school. You couldn't wait for all the things you had planned with him to happen.
When Happy had called you to get going you basically sprinted into the car. Your legs where bouncing up and down so fast that your didn't see them clearly.
On your way to pick up your dad you picked up Pepper too. She seemed like she had been crying so you gave her a hug, hers always made you feel better. So you returned the favour basically.
You talked the whole drive there about all the things you were going to do together. The amusement park being highest on your list, followed by going camping, and the zoo and playing together. And not to forget showing him all the progress you had made with the force.
As soon as the car was parked you jumped out and looked around yourself only to see nobody. That was a bit of a downer but you could live through a few more minutes of wait. You passed your time by talking to the strangers present at the site. Some paramedics gave you a lollipop. So you stuck with them for almost 20 minutes just talking about everything and nothing.
A plane soon landed and rolled up to you all. When the ramp opened you were basically vibrating with excitement. As soon as it touched the ground you said screw waiting and ran up to your dad. The impact of your hug almost sending him backwards if Rhodes hadn't been there to grab onto his arm.
"Good to see you again Bug. I hope you didn't miss me too much." You just held onto him for a few minutes until you were certain that this was your father and that he was actually back. When you looked up at him you were crying.
"Come here buddy." Rhodey said and stretched out his arms. As you went to him he picked you up and carried you down the ramp.
"I missed you too, you know? It's not like I have seen you either in the past months." Rhodey commented and tickled you.
"Where's my hug huh? Where's my hug?" He said grinning as you squirmed and laughed from being tickled.
Rhodey sat you down while your dad was talking to Pepper. You gave him a quick hug and ran away, not wanting to get tickled again.
Once you all were in the car Pepper was in the front seat first making phone calls, after bickering with your dad, while you were ranting to your dad about all the things you had done and learned while he was away.
"I can crush a spoon now!"
"Oh really? Show me ."
"But I dont have one."
"You can show me once we're home alright?"
You nodded and continued your rambling and how you had some gifts for him so he would know what you did while he was away.
When you stopped at Burger king you got some chicken nuggets from them, then it was off to the press conference Pepper had organized short term. She seemed really stressed.
You walked into the building walking next to your father, still eating your nuggets while the press people took pictures. You smiled and waved at some of them but didn't answer them as your mouth was full. It was bad to talk with your mouth full, you could choke and it was rude.
Inside a man named AGENT Coulson grabbed your attention and you decided to stick with Pepper and him instead of your dad and Obie. You still had a clear view of your father so all was fine.
"Is your name really Agent?" You asked him before he could even say hello.
"...No, uh my name is Phil Coulson, agent is like a title. Cool shirt by the way." he answered pointing at your Captain Magic shirt.
"That's sad, agent would be a cool name. And thank you Daddy bought it." You said, Phil just nodded.
You were about to ask another question when your father started talking. You listened a bit but decided to just look at the agent instead trying to figure him out. That seemed much more interesting.
You stayed standing since you weren't paying attention and a few people chuckled when your father was telling you directly to sit down. Embarrassed you did as told.
Once your dad was done with his announcement all hell broke lose, people were taking pictures and asking questions but your dad just went off the stage and out of the room with Obie.
You were confused about the ruckus so you stayed with Phil, he seemed nice and Pepper and Rhodes were close by so you felt safe. Also it looked like they were going to argue and you really didn't like it when they did.
"So, are you like a spy?" You asked him picking the crumbs out of you chicken nuggets box.
"No, I mean kind of? I'm an Agent, I'm working with the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division."
"Thats a long name. What are you doing here? Spying?"
"No," he chuckled "We need to ask your father about the circumstances of his escape. I already made out a date with miss Potts. So I think I will see you again soon," Escape? So he was kidnapped? You shrugged off the thought.
"Cool... So do you have a gun then, like in the movies?"
"I do have a gun from time to time but not currently."
"What do you do with it? Kill people?"
"I try not to."
You were stunned, there was a person who claimed that he was an agent for a Division you had never heard of and he was telling you how he had probably killed a few people. Your mouth was hanging open.
Before you could ask any other questions he was gone and so was everybody else besides Pepper who was waiting for you.
At home, once you two were alone, you told Tony all about what you've been up to while he read your diary. You talked and talked and talked until you were finally tired. You fell asleep on the couch with a piece of Pizza still in your hand.
Tony smiled down fondly at you, despite you being torn away from him for almost three months you didn't treat him much differently than before.
You were still the rambling mess of a little boy he remembered. And very inquisitive about the arc reactor in his chest.
He put down your diary, took the pizza piece, and covered your body with a blanket.
Well you might have become a bit more clingy. He thought while stroking your hair softly. He had been so afraid of what might happen to you if he doesn't come back. He didn't want you to end up like him. He wants you to grow up knowing that you can rely on him, that you always have his support. And he cant do that when he's dead.
He shuddered out a sigh and put you to bed.

True Life: I worked for a Sociopath
In early 2013, I started a journey with a company that I loved. I was hired on as a sales associate by a strong, powerful and amazing store manager who literally taught me everything I know. She promoted me 6 months in to a lower level management role, and when she got an offer to move onto bigger things in the company, she helped push me into a fulltime management role. Her assistant manager at the time ultimately ended up filling her position as she left, and to be honest, I had no idea what I was in for. I hadn't worked too much with this particular manager prior, and didn't have much of a real raport with her at all. I truly was excited about the change, and everything felt like a new beginning. The first year was pretty rocky in general, but we just chalked it up to us all being new in our roles, and pushed through it until we got onto a schedule. The assistant manager at the time and I were incredibly close, and it was pretty clear to me at the time that she was being bullied and demonized by our store manager, but I thought maybe it was just some kind of personal bad blood between them. The store manager (we will call her Sarah) would talk to associates and other managers behind her back, calling her names, and pointing her fingers at her for anything going awry in the store. Finally, our ASM snapped, and left the company. Sarah told us all that things would be SO Much better without her there "creating hostility". Most of us knew that the former ASM wasn't the problem.
With the separation of our ASM, I was then ushered into the role as a replacement. I was excited. I was excited about a raise, about more responsibility and the growth that I had worked SO hard for. To give you just a little information on my character: I'm a fiery personality, but I'm also incredibly compassionate. I'm a giant mama bear, and I looked at all my employees as my little cubs. With that being said, I was always doing everything with theirs and the stores' best interest in mind. Now at this time, Sarah had A LOT of personal stuff going on. She always did, to be honest. The personal shit never stopped. But, unlike most people who put themselves in a store management position, she used her power to work everything in HER favor so it didn't conflict with her super dramatic life. This meant breaking every rule along the way. She scheduled herself only opening shifts, on a consistent schedule. Every single Sunday off. And when any small thing happened in her life, she just wouldn't show up to her shifts. She would expect me to come in on my days off to cover her shifts on a monthly basis. She made me work doubles covering her shifts more than a few times. If you were not flexible with her, she would tell you that you just needed to take one for the team and would punish you with a cold attitude and talk shit about you behind your back to the rest of the staff. She bullied everyone in the store, but especially the management team. On the other hand, if you were sick and tried to call out... she'd refuse to cover your shift and make you come in anyways. When she wouldn't come in for a scheduled shift, she would just code in PTO for herself and move on with her day. When she was there, she didnt do anything at all. One time she passed out in the back room from pills while our sales lead was on the floor by herself. As fulltime managers we were assigned DORs (departments of responsibility). There was Operations, Talent and Merchandising and they were split between the 3 fulltime managers. My last year with the company, I was working 2 of the 3 while Sarah was doing none. I took more than half of the conference calls. I planned our entire fiscal year. I made ever schedule, did every interview and every new hire onboarding. I was training our keyholder in the merch DOR. When I say that I was literally running a 1.6 million dollar store with no help from my SM, while only making $13hr I AM NOT KIDDING. All the while, anytime I tried to initiate positive change, and enforce standards I was immediately shot down and told "I am not the Store Manger". So essentially - we were failing. At this point I learned that on top of everything I was doing, she was telling everyone else in the store than I was a horrible manager and did nothing. She called me names to people, and even lied to them about crazy shit she claims I did. When I confronted her, she would tell me it never happened. All our employees were quitting left and right because she was literally crazy. She would yell at them on the sales floor and make them cry, force them to stay past their scheduled shifts and the few times she did make the schedule she would schedule them outside of their availability and fuck us over with coverage on the weekend. She manipulated every single person on staff. I left work crying every day.
Now here's where things got fucking psychotic. My keyholder and I had to drive to Tampa for a training certification class, and one thing led to another that ended with us spilling only a small portion of the crazy shit going on in our store. The manager training us empowered us to go to our DM. I spent the night writing and incredibly detailed list of everything she had been doing with help of the rest of the store staff and management team. The next day I called our DM and she was floored. She told me that she was going through HR to get it figured out (this was in august) and while she got in a small amount of "trouble"for a few small things, Sarah was still our store manager and she was bullying us worse than ever. Sarah immediately assumed that I was the one that got her in trouble (even though every single person on staff contributed) and she took it out on me in the worst ways. She denied all of my request offs and had my working every single weekend. Things hit rock bottom after Hurricane Irma hit us on October 2018. We had an emergency close the day before the hurricane touched down because our entire staff was living in evacuation zones and were running out of the state to stay safe from the storm. The night we closed it was me, Sarah and an associate who we will call Ashley. Things were totally normal, low stress and went fairly smoothly. When we arrived back after the storm everything seemed normal. Another week passed, and my husband and I were driving down south to his parents house when I received a call from my DM. In this call she Informed me that my CRAZY BITCH SM told her that on the night of the emergency closing I told her that if we didn't close the store I was going to KILL HER AND HER FAMILY.
WHAT THE FUCK.
She also made the mistake of telling the DM that the associate was a witness. And the DM told her that she needed to have a conversation with me and ask me why I said that. The DM (thankfully) warned me that this conversation might happen, but neither of us thought this bitch was crazy enough to actually lie about something so serious that she claims I said TO MY FACE.
BOY WERE WE WRONG!
She called out of her next shift with me, but then proceeded to come in before hours at 8:30 AM as I was opening the systems, cornered me alone in the stock room, and this bitch looks at me and says "Kianna, do you remember saying anything inappropriate to me during the emergency close?"
Me: No...
Her: Nothing... at all?
Me: Nope. Nothing at all, why?
Her *yelling*: SO YOU DONT REMEMBER THREATENING TO KILL ME AND MY FAMILY??!
ME*completely shocked that she literally said it*: No, Sarah. Seriously? We both know I would never say something like that. I literally dont even use that kind of language jokingly.
Her: Just admit you said it and apologize.
Me: I'm not going to admit to something I didnt say.
Her: Ashley was working she heard you!
Me: Oh really? Ashley happens to be my opener. Let's ask her! If she heard me say that, I will apologize and just accept that I somehow said this horrible thing and blocked it out.
Her *hesitantly*: oh... okay.
When Ashley arrived, we sat her down and Sarah asked her the same uncomfortable question. "Do you remember Kianna saying something incredibly inappropriate and threatening the night we emergency closed?"
Ashley: Uhh... no?
Sarah: So you don't remember her threatening my family's life?
Ashley: UHM, DEFINITELY NOT?!
Sarah: UGH, WELL I HOPE YOU ARE HAPPY, ASHLEY, THAT SINCE YOU WON'T ADMIT THAT SHE THREATENED ME THAT I WILL LOOK LIKE A LIAR TO MY BOSS!
Turns out she then tried to groom Ashley into lying for her by offering her a raise if she lied. Ashley told our DM this. SARAH WAS STILL OUR STORE MANAGER. By the end of October, 3 MONTHS AFTER TURNING HER IN, I was done waiting. I turned in my notice, found a better paying job and left that toxic situation. I left because I felt unsafe in my work environment and despite all my evidence and her threats and her literally lying in hopes to get me fired and arrested I WAS STILL BEING FORCED TO WORK WITH HER.
The day I turned in my notice, I found out I was pregnant with my son. Leaving that toxic environment was the best decision I ever made. KNOW YOUR WORTH, GUYS.
