Thinking about how in Heroes' Gauntlet we see that Magnus and the boys (with the help of Chai-Nuzz, we later learn) have gotten some Talos up and running, having presumably found more leonine now that they have access to more mines, but we know it had to be slow going

But they send those Talos to help the Warrior of Darkness and the Scions without a second thought; like these things are not built for combat, so they had to know the Talos were just going to break down after even moderate fighting/punching boulders out of the way

And they do it anyway

Because they know we need the help, and they want to help

Like, they don't even know what's going on; we don't exactly have time to stop and tell them why there are spectral phantoms and a starshower happening. They might've even been affected by the Echo like a lot of the people we saw in Eulmore were, for all we know.

And they still!! Jump right to our aid!!

Enough of the trope where memory loss undoes the damage or the corruption or whatever. More content where removing memories just removes the context.

The tragedy of needing to grieve and not knowing what or who you lost or why. The angst of having trauma and being denied the awareness that it's trauma. The suspense of being different somehow and left to wonder how and when. The tension of knowing that something is off and you can't find where it hurts. The Adventure Zone gets it. Kingdom Hearts gets it.

There is an aching inside you and you don't know how it got there.

just. what a profoundly intense thing to confess to someone.

like, just these six months of newfound happiness with you exerts a force on his heart equal and in direct opposition to two centuries of endless torment, the gnawing hunger and exploitation. this flashbulb-bright fraction of his long life holds the same gravity to him as years upon years of darkness and suffering.

in all likelihood, he hasn’t even known his lover for as long as his worst memory lasted, that year sealed away to go mad from starvation and sensory deprivation, yet he still tells them this brief time has been so fundamentally and powerfully important that the weight of even that unimaginable hell is vanishingly small compared to this present he has now and the future ahead of them both.
