And GODSDAMN that is a funny musical with some surprisingly hard-hitting musical numbers. Especially this one.

Hey hello! I literally can't remember the last time somebody sent me an ask that wasn't a bot lol I got T, and honestly there were a few I tossed around. Tiger seemed an obvious choice, and tarantula or toad could have been fun- I heavily considered the Thorny Devil on account of the fact they look like dragons.... But I had to stay true to my heart. So I went with Turritopsis dohrnii, also known as the immortal jellyfish. They look like weird little space ships with a little orange guy in the middle to me.

I'm also assuming that this wizard can make him Big Size, and also, like, float out of water...because otherwise this will absolutely not work. So assuming that, on a scale of 1-10 for how things are going for me? Probably like.......... a 2? Pros: they have stinging tentacles, and are biologically immortal. Cons: basically everything else. They don't exactly have brains, so it's not gonna be the brightest little guy, and they kind of just mindlessly float around, so even steering it would be pretty bad probably. Also, even though it's biologically immortal, it can still be killed, and the "immortality" bit basically just means if it's in bad conditions, like if they're starving, or injured, or the temperature changes to fast, it can change back into a polyp, restarting its life cycle. They can also make clones of themselves?? So I guess I could add that to the pros. But all in all? Terrible steed, absolutely not doing a good job at anything other than maybe zapping anyone that gets too close. However, I think they're neat, so I'm keeping him.

(Yes this was also an excuse to draw this... yes that background is a CSP asset I have work in the morning)

The fun, underlying challenge of abstract art is: How far can depiction of a subject be pushed before it stops being recognizable as that subject? Like, as an example, this sculpture is very much *not* a cat; no part of it, taken in isolation, ressembles a body part from a cat, because it's just curves and curls. AND YET, when taken as a whole, my brain immediately goes "Kitty!" and "Ohhh, big stretch!"

And that mindset encapuslates the corruption at the very heart of Instagram, I reckon. Art as a process, art as a dialogue, art as an expression of humanity in all its variety and messiness ... isn't valued on Instagram; everything is just an aesthetic product to be consumed and then forgotten. Like mass-produced cupcakes.

We have to work hard to not let that corrupted mindset spread to Tumblr. We have to not let ourselves slip into thinking of art as "content" meant to please us, the viewer.

saw someone on instagram say “you shouldn’t post your art until it’s good” and that comment filled me with rage so i want to say to every beginner artist or artist who feels their art is not improving no matter how long they’ve been at it. i love you and i love your art and everything you post bears part of you and that is so beautiful. block everyone who says otherwise they are not entitled to freely consume what they rag on.

i hope that the discussion about student protests does not get reduced to "privileged rich kids faffing around at an ivy league school." setting aside that tenuous claim, over the last week, protests have erupted over the entire country. a few days ago, riot police beat, pepper-sprayed, and arrested NYU faculty shielding students; protests started at the university of southern california when the admin cancelled the valedictorian's speech; encampments appeared at the university of southern carolina, UT dallas, the university of maryland, the university of new mexico, IUPUI, virginia tech, the university of virginia, the university of illinois, the university of north carolina — chapel hill, the university of pittsburgh, uc berkeley, the university of michigan — ann arbor, MIT, emerson, tufts, the university of rochester, rice, swarthmore, the new school, vanderbilt university, with students arrested; students protested or walked out at miami university, northwestern, temple, the 5 claremont colleges: pomona, pitzer, scripps, harvey mudd, and claremont mckenna, stanford, washington university in st louis, students were arrested at ohio state, students were confronted by riot police at cal poly humboldt, after which they occupied campus, students were arrested at the university of minnesota — twin cities, after which faculty walked out; and yes, there are protests at the other ivies, most notably yale, with students facing mass arests after encampments, but there is also an encampment at brown, protests appeared at cornell, princeton faculty issued a statement of solidarity while students are preparing an encampment, and harvard banned the undergraduate palestine solidarity committee. there are thousands of students who are protesting for palestine across the entire country, facing harassment, arrest, and suspension in return

The Israeli military denies any involvement with the mass graves outside the hospitals they assaulted and seized while wounded refugees were still trapped inside. Since they've lied about literally every other atrocity they've committed, we can once again safely dismiss everything they say and go with the evidence. Meaning: The Israeli military killed those helpless, defenseless people (while some of them were bound) and didn't even bother to hide the evidence effectively. This is like a serial killer tossing a rug over their victim's body. How did they not think the mass graves would be discovered?

I think I'll take in some local color (markets and a restaurant) in Chittagong. Then go explore around the forest parklands near Kaptai Lake. From there, going (thirdly) to the Buddha Dhatu Jadi temple.

Looks really cool and historically/culturally significant.
