Washed Up - Chapter 3
Pairing: Kim Taehyung x Reader; Angsty Fic
Summary: You finally come face to face with the man you once loved, lets just say, it doesn't go how you expected.
Author's Note: Short chapter, sorry. It just felt like the right place to end it for now. I will be working on writing more, and longer chapters from here on out.
Warnings: mentions of alcoholism, mental health issues, swearing, general angst.
(previous chapter)
Rina had picked what you wore, a blue cardigan with a silk camisole and light wash jeans, to give you a mature look, like the character. You were thankful that your makeup and hair had been professionally done as well, because Taehyung looked really fucking amazing. When you first saw him, your breath hitched. He looked so different from how you knew him.
His hair was had grown out and styled messy and in his face, he was wearing a fitted jean with a black t-shirt and a long black overcoat with several necklaces. He had a much colder appearance to himself, he used to be silly and smiley, and now he looked like he could kill somebody with his stare alone.
He bowed to and nodded to people as we walked in and took his seat across from you. You kept your eyes locked on your friend, fearing that if you looked at him that you'd break your composure somehow. But you feel his eyes come around to you, you start to mess with a bracelet on your hand, pretending that you don't feel his stare boring into you.
"Ok, ready when you guys are." Yoongi says from behind the camera guy. You finally give in and look at Taehyung, as much as he had changed, you could still see the man you loved in his eyes. No matter how cold he made them seem, there was still this boyish wonder behind them that just reminded you of the times you had together.
You inhale, exhale, and without looking away from your old lover, you release a small "ready..."
They counted you down and you waited for Tae to start.
"You never loved me back, did you?" He says with his face softened, looking so much weaker than he had a minute ago. Wow this scene is going to be harder than you thought. It was one thing to do this scene with a guy you had never met before, but hearing that come from the only man you've ever loved, hit like a ton of bricks.
But you have to keep going so you don't have time to sit with your feelings, you have to use them to make this scene better.
"Not in the way that you want me to." you say, trying to sell the fact that the character is meant to be older, mature, and is a lot more put together than you are.
"I just don't understand why I'm not enough for you" Your heartbeat quickened from how he was looking at you. You never gave him this conversation. In all honesty, you ghosted him after your company told you to end things. One of the many mistakes you made regarding your relationship with him.
"It's not that you're not enough, it's that I can't give you the love you deserve. You're such a beautiful person, inside and out, and you deserve a girl your age, without any baggage. I have so much going on in my life, all I bring is drama." You feel like you're finally getting this moment to have with him, even if it isn't your own words.
"But I can help you with it, I can handle it." Wow, Taehyung has gotten very good at acting. You thought about watching some of his projects before, but you couldn't bring yourself to. You told yourself you'd force yourself to if you got the role.
"But what I'm saying, is that you shouldn't have to." you notice something flicker in his eyes.
"I'm so tired of people always deciding what's best for me." This shocked you, this was not in the script. "Isn't what's best for me to decide and to learn from it? I'm an adult, I can make my own goddamn decisions, fuck!" He stands up suddenly, covering his face. You just stare at him, blinking, that definitely seemed like what he's wanted to say to you.
Somebody else starts talking to him, you can't pay attention because you're trying to hold back tears. You feel somebody touch your back and guide you outside, you realize it's Rina. She guides you to the bathroom and wraps you in a hug, that opens the floodgates, you start sobbing into her shoulder.
A few minutes pass and you stop crying. She rubs your back while your body shudders, you look into the mirror and all of your makeup has fun. To put it kindly, you looked like shit.
"I'm going to go and talk to some people, you stay here as long as you need to." She says, leaving a kiss on your forehead before stepping out. You find yourself sitting on the floor for a few minutes, trying to catch your breath. Finally, you stand up and clean yourself up, to the best of your abilities.
When you step out of the bathroom, you see Taehyung leaning against a wall in the hallway. He looks up at you and shakes his head, before looking down again. He looked at you with such hate in his eyes, not that you could judge him.
"Are you okay?" you ask, not knowing what else to say. He scoffs.
"Am I okay? That's what you're going to say to me after all this time. A I okay?!" He glares at you, you refuse to let yourself look away, you don't deserve to be uncomfortable about this.
"I know it probably won't mean much to you, but I am sorry for how things went down." You say, trying to hold yourself together. He laughs again, backing off the wall and walking toward you, he's a lot taller than you remember, but you hold your ground.
"You're right, it means nothing to me. You mean nothing to me." he says before walking back into the studio.
What. The. Fuck.

Forget Me Not
Summary: “Your spiralling psyche combined both of those motivational quotes into your own, that you did not know then would dictate the tone of all your convoluted breakups. If someone made you feel as if you were easily forgettable, then you would easily forget them. And you, being you, took that quite literally. That day you looked straight into your ex-boyfriend’s eyes and with an unflinching, stone cold face said “I’m sorry, do we know each other?”
OR
The one where everytime you get dumped you pretend that you never met the guy before to mess with their heads. To the point that if you run into them somewhere you reintroduce yourself and act like you never seen each other before.
Enters fuckboy Jungkook who disappears after your night together, leaving in the middle of the night with no idea of how much he was about to regret that choice.

(Fanfic masterlist) (support me on my ko-fi <3 )
Boys loved to forget about you, but hated finding out they were just as easily forgettable.
You learned this very early in your life, one of the many lessons your older sisters had passed on to you. You were barely a teenager back then but you remembered as if it was just yesterday, the memory of your sister Jane, with her glorious cocktail of middle child anger and a borderline anarchical emotional stance, placing her ringing phone in the freezer. Although you did not ask, she said “He ghosted me for like a week”.
“That does not explain the IPhonesicle you just made” you told her.
Jane shrugged “I texted his best friend and he did not like that” the noise kept coming from the refrigerator, muffled but still shrill “men do not like when you treat them the same way they treat you” she hummed, as if she had not just dropped a pearl of wisdom in your marker stained hands “go figure.”
At that time, you didn’t think much of it. You kept those words in the back pocket of your mind, not knowing then how much they would resonate in the future
There were many other things that your sisters said that subconsciously stuck with you - people say that older siblings are the blueprint and they couldn’t be more right. If Jane and Lizzie were blueprints, you were the unhinged engineer that took those plans and ran with it and whatever those two did it was guaranteed that you would take it to an unwarranted level. Your first heartbreak proved it true.
You were just sixteen and he was older, the perfect recipe for disaster. He filled your head with rehearsed lies about how mature you were for your age and how you were not like the other girls (he was right, you were worse). It was all fine and well and you basked in your ingenue stupidity up until you saw him in a deep examination of a senior cheerleader`s tongue at a random house party.
Oh, that tore you apart, the pain setting its claws deep in your heart. Hearing for so long how different you were made the realization of how replaceable you actually were to the male gaze much more hurtful. You climbed into Lizzie’s bed that night with mascara running down your face from all the crying you did, a couple of chocolate bars on one hand and hatred on the other. Lizzie - the oldest, less prone to dramatic affairs, much more prone to dangerous ones - listened quietly, as she always did. In the end, she cleaned your face with a makeup wipe, poured you a tiny glass of your mom’s wine that you should not be drinking and said “You are not replaceable and you are not stupid. You are young” she sipped from her own glass, much fuller than yours “Don’t think of that man as your ex. Think of him as a lesson learn. A mistake not to be repeated.”
At that age, sometimes your sisters seemed bigger than life. Sometimes it felt like they had been through everything and carried all the answers forward - it would be stupid not to listen to the life’s cheat sheet they carried.
So when Lizzie finished her night of advice (a rare occurrence, those nights, as Lizzie was not a talker) with the next few words, you listened and made them your own. “Remember, Y/N” she said “in this house, we do not forgive. Sometimes we forget. If someone reminds you, make them wish they didn’t”.
The next day, when your human shaped lesson of an ex showed up to your school to see you, your heart filled you with an overflowing amount of anger, threatening to drip from your eyes. He came up to you as if nothing had happened and the sight of him made you feel just as bad as when you saw him with that cheerleader - replaceable, forgettable. Frozen in your place, you didn’t move as he kissed your face. His touch made you feel sick and you wished you could erase the memory of it from your mind.
As if you had an epiphany or a spontaneous acid trip, your mind conjured collections of your sisters’ words and actions, mixing the things they taught and the things you watched them do for years. Elizabeth had told you to forget sometimes, but never forgive. Jane had told you how much reciprocity could be a bitch. Your spiralling psyche combined both of those motivational quotes into your own, that you did not know then would dictate the tone of all your convoluted breakups.
If someone made you feel as if you were easily forgettable, then you would easily forget them.
And you, being you, took that quite literally. That day you looked straight into your ex-boyfriend’s eyes and with an unflinching, stone cold face said “I’m sorry, do we know each other?”
Oh, that made him mad. After the initial confusion, he made a fuss and called you every name in the book. Everytime you assured him he never met you before he would call you crazy while having no idea of how right he was. But you kept your lie with your head held high, putting all the acting skills you had mastered in your years as the youngest sister to good use. And it just so happened that destiny and his lack of principles were on your side because in all the months you were a couple, you hadn’t told anyone. He spewed shit about how your love was a secret that it would be better kept, that people wouldn’t understand and would be way too jealous, that you didn’t have to prove your feelings to anyone. Of course you figured out that all those words were just his way of keeping himself single but at that moment those words were his demise.
And so he walked away and you added a new strategy to your playbook of how to make men lose their shit.
And it worked perfectly fine until you girlbossed a bit too close to the sun.
And the sun’s name was Jeon Jungkook.

Bad Friends
Pairing: Jeon Jungkook x Reader
Summary: After your friends abandon you on your birthday your forced to interact with your ex for the first time since you broke up with him.
Author's Note: this was very therapeutic to me >_<
This is heavily based on situations from my life, and I kind of went crazy while writing this. So enjoy :)
Warnings: angst, lack of communication, as the title says... bad friendships.
You swam through the sea of drunk people looking for a familiar face. Your efforts were useless, it would seem that your friends have abandoned you while you were 4 drinks in. And it was your birthday. You check your phone to see if they have responded, but there’s no notifications. You check their location on snapchat and it tells you that they are at another club on the other side of the city.
'Some friends you guys are' you think to yourself.
You start to tear up, you felt like your friends had been growing away from you lately, but this cements that feeling. They were the ones that insisted on doing something for your birthday and then they stranded you at the club.
As much as you don’t want to you call your brother, knowing he told you not to go out with these girls, but you have no other way of getting home, your friends had your wallet in their car and they had been paying for your drinks prior to this. You dial your brothers number.
“Hello? What's up? I thought you were out with Ashley and Witney? Are you okay?” Your brother, Taehyung, asks and just like that you can’t hold back your tears. You had missed being this close with him. You guys used to talk all the time, but when you moved away you ghosted him and his girlfriend, Minji, who was like a sister to you.
“I went to the bathroom and they were gone, *sob* I’ve looked all over, they didn’t even text me. I think they left me to go to another club and I have no money and my phone is almost dead and I’m way too *hic* drunk for this.” You say while sobbing.
“Calm down, ____, I’m out of town with Minji but I’ll send somebody to come and get you, just send me your location.” He said calmly.
“Send who?” you ask weakly, fearing that you may already know the answer.
“I’ll ask some of my friends in the city, but most likely it will be Jungkook, I just got off the phone with him and I know he’s not doing anything.” You groaned at his response.
'Fucking great.'
“I know, but you need a ride home and we don’t have a lot of options. Send me your location quick so I can get you home, loser.” He said with a chuckle. You send him your location and 2 minutes later you receive the text
“Sorry dude, Jungkook was the only person who could come and get you right away.” You put your head in your hands and leaned up against the side of the building.
Jungkook was your brother's best friend, but also your ex.
They had been friends since they were preteens and you had dated him for 4 years in high school and college, but you ended things with him because you guys had been fighting constantly. Then you suddenly got a job in another state.
The break up was part of the reason you lost touch with Tae and Minji, you didn't want to make them choose between you and JK. You were scared that they wouldn't choose you, so you left before they could disappoint you.
Unfortunately, things didn’t work out there and you had recently moved back. You started talking to your brother again, you apologized to them both, realizing it was stupid to think that they wouldn't move heaven and earth for you.
but... you haven’t seen Jungkook since you broke up with him. But of course you were so unlucky that you were going to have to see him tonight... while you're drunk... and crying... and completely alone...
Fifteen minutes pass before you see a car that you know too well roll up. You see Jungkook in the driver’s side of the car. He stares at you for a second before giving you a small wave. You give an awkward smile and a head nod before you make your way to his car.
‘God. This is going to be awkward.’
When you step into the car it immediately smells like him, his cologne mixed with his natural smell. There was many times where you smelled something similar that would make you think of him while you were away. Now here you are and it's actually him.
Neither of you speak besides small a small 'hi" and when you briefly asked if it was okay to plug your phone into his charger.
You stare at your lap, twiddling your thumbs. He focuses on the road, eventually your phone turns on and you see decide to go check social media. You open up instagram and you see Witney’s story, and her and Ashley are at a bar with two guys you had seen them talking to earlier. You scoff at the idea of your only friends ditching you on your birthday for men that were strangers. You were beyond pissed.
“Are you okay?” Jungkook asks, putting a hand on one of yours and rubbing his thumb on the back of it. You thought this would make it awkward, but it didn't it felt almost normal. Like this is how it always should have been.
“Maybe, I’m just really drunk right now." You paused. Unsure if you should ask this question. But again, you're too drunk to make normal decisions, so you just do it. "I’m going to ask you a question and I want an honest answer, don’t use kid gloves for me." You stare at him until he gives a small nod, his eyes darting between you and the road.
"Am I really that unlovable?” You say while you feel the tears start to well in your eyes again. You saw his hands tighten around the steering wheel while so hard his knuckles were turning white.
“Now, what in the fuck makes you think that?” He said, obviously trying to not make me feel bad but also wanting to yell at me.
“If I was a lovable person wouldn’t my friends WANT to hang out with me on my birthday? I just feel like I’m such a fucking failure, I couldn’t even make it work at my job and I can’t make friends. And the only person, that’s not my brother, who made me feel safe and comfortable, I pushed away.” You hide your face in your hands as you start to cry. You really must be drunk because somehow this turned into you venting about your feeling to your ex… including your feelings about him.
Jungkook pulls his car over onto the side of the rode and he turns to you and grabs your hands. “You are one of the people in this whole wide world who deserves to be loved. You are one of the kindest people I know and you are beautiful inside and out.” He used one hand to grab yours and the other to hold your face and to make you look at him. “You are not a failure. Sometimes jobs just don’t work out, its okay, you’ll get a new one, and eventually you will find the place that you are meant to be at."
You stare into each other's eyes for awhile. For the first time in awhile, you realize how much you missed this. how much you missed him. He always brought you so much comfort back then, and then you broke his heart. Why couldn't you have just made it work? Why did you feel you had to leave?
"Also your friends suck, that not on you, that’s on them to let you slip away.” he says, breaking the spiral that you had been falling into.
It made you think about why you left back then. You pull your hand from his and turned to look out the window. "Well they always leave anyways, so there's never a reason to get too attached." you say solemnly.
"That's sad that you think that." you turn to see him staring at you, eyebrows furrowed, you look away again, not wanting to see his pity for you. "And also, very untrue."
Your head snaps to look at him. "Excuse me?" you ask, getting defensive.
"it's not true. I think on some level it might be, but at some point you started pushing people away before they could leave you. You pushed me away, I know you're getting close to your brother and Minji again, but when you moved away you ignored them the whole time."
You stare at him, slack jawed. "I'm not the only one at fault here. Not in this car at least. I will admit that I ignored Tae and Minji, and I have apologized to both of them and made my amends. But, need I remind you about what happened between us? We had issues long before I decided to move away. You were distant, you know you were." You start to tear up. This was a constant fight between the two of you back then.
~ flashback - 3 years ago ~
You were sitting on the couch, seething. It was your anniversary and he was going to take you on a date to celebrate the 4 years you have been together. You had been sitting on the couch, ready, for the past three hours. No messages from him, for why he might be late.
Normally, you wouldn't be mad about this, but recently it's become a real problem with him. He never used to be late, but now he always was. You fought with him about it last week, when he was going to help you prepare for a big presentation at your job, but he never showed up.
He called you the day after, apologizing, claiming he got caught up at work, and passed out as soon as he got home. You told him that it hurt that you were "forgettable" to him. This presentation was a big deal for your career, and that you couldn't focus on it because you were wondering if something bad had happened to him. You left a million messages and got nothing back from him.
You still did well on the presentation, but you had stayed up most of the night worrying about him and had forgotten your lunch at home and was going to have to skip it because you were in such a rush to get to work that morning. You fought with him for a while longer and then hung up, needing to get back to work.
An hour later, Jungkook showed up with food from your favorite restaurant and a promise to make it up to you this weekend for your anniversary. You chat with him for a bit, pushing aside your anger, because he's here, right now. putting in the work.
When you return from your lunch you get called into your bosses office. "____, you did amazing in our meeting this morning." You give a smile and a a small nod in thanks. "There's an opening in one of our other city locations. It's quite far away, but I think you might be just the right fit for it."
You sit there, slack jawed for a second. You heard about the position opening in the Chicago location, but you never dreamed of getting it. It's a higher position than you are currently and its highly coveted. "oh, um, thank you, I appreciate the offer, when would I need to go by?" You ask, there are so many details you'd need to know, I mean what about your friends and family here?
"As soon as possible, we have housing that we can provide, and we will pay for your transition there." She says, with a smile. She's been your boss for 5 years now, and you've always gotten along.
"Can I have a couple days to think about it? I just have a lot of things up in the air in my personal life right now, and I don't want to make any decisions without really thinking about it first." She gives you a comforting smile again.
"Of course, take the time you need. We will need to know by next week Friday if we need to find somebody else for the position though." You give a small nod and thanks. "Ok, now tell me about your anniversary, that's today isn't it?" she says, you laugh and tell her about your plans with Jungkook.
You think about her offer all day, deciding to talk about it with Jungkook tonight. Chicago is halfway across the country and it would be really hard for you guys, and you aren't in the most stable place right now.
You get dressed up, you guys always go to the restaurant you had your first date at for your anniversary and then a walk in the park. But instead, here you are, alone on the couch. You sit there for another hour, trying to get in touch with your boyfriend.
Once it hits hour four you decide to go take a shower and have a good cry. You were used to this kind of stuff from your friends, but never your boyfriend. And he knew how insecure you were about being an afterthought to most people.
You woke up the next morning with dozens of missed calls from Jungkook and various texts apologizing and asking for you to call him back. You don't. Honestly, you're tired of it all. You thought you'd wake up today feeling better, but you just feel a pit in your stomach.
It was the weekend and you decided not to leave your apartment and do a deep cleaning of your home. Maybe if you could get a clean house, you could also clear your head. You talk to your brother on the phone while you clean.
"Maybe something came up again, I know he's been working really hard lately." Tae offers. For some reason this made you mad. Tae was your brother, he shouldn't be defending Jungkook. He should be mad with you, or at least pretend to be.
"You know, I don't really care, he should still communicate with me. It's one thing to miss a date, even though it's actually been several dates that he's missed, but he's not showing up, and then when I'm worried about where he is... he's not answering. It's not usually until the day after when I finally hear from him." You rant for awhile.
Tae stays pretty silent and you feel like he's staying quiet because he doesn't agree with you. You abruptly stop your rant to say "Okay, well I guess I have stuff to do and I'd rather talk to a wall, they might actually give me something to work off of" you say, giving more attitude to your brother than he probably deserved, but you were angry right now and his silence was just making it worse.
You blast your music when you get a text from Minji.
"Hey, I heard you were having a rough go of it." she texted.
"yeah, I'm angry cleaning my whole apartment right now." you respond.
"Yeah, I saw on my laptop that you have been listening to your punch that fucker in the face playlist. Pretty intense name btw."
"yeah well, i feel pretty intense right now. if the grout on my bathroom floor was a person, I would want to punch it in the face."
"Are you sure that it's grout that you want to punch in the face or a certain boyfriend that has been flakey...?"
"maybe both. i have the capabilities to be angry at multiple things at once, i'm talented in that way."
"I'm sure you are, but is that good for you?"
"maybe it's not, but it's the way i feel right now."
"I'm just worried that you are letting this anger seep into your other relationships... like the one with your brother..."
You roll your eyes. of course, now you're the bad guy. You just wish, literally, anybody would be on your side. But instead you're the unlovable one, and nobody is every going to put you first.
You leave Minji on read the rest of the day. No longer answering any messages, you turn your phone off. You start to feel better after you're done and take a shower. You do a full care routine and come out with a clear head.
You turn your phone on to see your boyfriend has been trying to get in touch with you again. You ignore his messages to start making dinner instead. You're almost done cooking when you hear your doorbell ring. The pit in your stomach that you spent all day trying to get rid of comes back.
You look in the security camera to see Jungkook at the door. You start to walk away from the door when you hear him say "____, I know you're in there. I can hear the music from out here." You sigh and open the door.
"What do you want?" You say, holding the door open enough so that only you can fit into the crack.
"Can we talk? Like actually talk, not fight." He asks. You want to get angry at the way he says it, but you can see he meant it genuinely and not in a backhanded way. You open the door all the way to let him in.
"Fine. Talk." You say after you both step in to your home.
"I'm sorry." He says and you immediately want to forgive him, but you know you won't forgive yourself if you give it to him that easily.
"Sorry about what?" You say, not letting up.
"I'm sorry about missing our dates. I've just been working so much lately, I've-" You start to feel the anger bubbling to the surface, you cut him off before he can make you any more upset.
"You think I'm mad because you're missing dates? I don't care about going to dinner. I care that you aren't communicating with me where you are. I wait up into the night and I worry about you, whether you got into an accident, if you're eating okay, if you're getting enough sleep. That is what I care about."
He stares at you, obviously not sure what to say to you. He finally says a small, quiet "I'm sorry." and you stare at him. You want to forgive, you so want to just hug him and be over all of this, but you just don't trust him anymore. You've been in this situation with other guys and you're not about to have your heartbroken again.
"I think we need to take a break." You say, he looks away from you.
"If that's what you think is best."
"it is."
"Okay then." he gets up and walks out the door. You let yourself cry and then finish making your dinner. You keep your phone off the rest of the weekend, you make some decisions.
On Monday morning you walk into your boss's office and accept the position. You vacate your home in the next week and move as much as you can to Chicago.
You tell your brother and Minji, they agree to send you some of your harder to pack things, and house some of the other valuables until you can figure out what to do with them. They seem upset with you about your sudden break up and sudden move, so you contact them less and less. You've only spoken to Jungkook a handful of times and it's mainly short, one-word messages.
You grow so depressed while you're in Chicago, your personal and professional life suffer as a consequence to it. You essentially go to work, bide your time there, come home, maybe eat if you have it in you to make a meal, and go to bed.
One day, you get a call from your old boss. "____, I haven't heard from you in forever, how are you?" she says with that warm voice. It's been months since you've let yourself talk to somebody who cares and it immediately brings you to tears. You cry and tell her about everything your break up, your isolation, your depression, everything you've been feeling for the past 8 months.
"I see, well I'm very sorry to hear that ____. Would it help if I could get you transferred back to here?" She offers, that immediately eases the pit in your stomach that you've been feeling for weeks.
"Would that be possible?" you ask, your voice small with embarrassment.
"Of course that would be possible, Your position here is filled but there is an opening in the higher ups, let me see what strings I can pull."
You immediately feel at ease. You might be able to go home! Then realization hits you. You've spent the last couple months isolating yourself from all of your loved ones, and now you're going to have to make amends.
You immediately call your brother and you both have a long talk over the phone. You open up about how you felt like they were judging the decisions you made and that you were scared that if he had to pick you or his friend, that he would pick his friend.
"____, there is literally nobody in this world that I would choose over you." he says.
"Hey, what the fuck." Minji says in the background, this being her first time speaking up.
"Obviously it's a tie between you guys and I would never have to choose between you guys... right?" he says and you both mumble a yes, obviously.
You all continue to talk through everything you've been feeling with each other, them feeling hurt by you pushing them away, but you work through things, you all cry, and you start to feel better about it all.
You get notice that you are being transferred back home, its not a hard transition, as you never fully moved here and you didn't really make any new friends. but about 2 weeks before your move, you get a message from two girls you went to college with.
"OMG, ____ we heard you're moving back, it's been forever, we should do something, right?" texted Ashley.
You ponder it, you had been best friends with them in high school and then when you moved on to your jobs you'd only really meet with them once a year. But, you are trying to fix your relationships, and don't hang out with many people besides your brother and his partner (and you used to hang out with you boyfriend...)
You decide to just do it. "for sure, lets get dinner when I get back :) "
You talk with them a lot before and after your move. They're a lot different to you now, but you make the effort to understand their interests. They really want to take you out clubbing for your birthday, but you tell them that it's not really your scene anymore.
"So how's your relationship status?" Witney asks, taking a sip of her espresso martini.
"ah, non-existent right now." you say while avoiding eye contact.
"I thought you were dating that hot tattooed guy. What was his name?" Ashley offers, sharing a look and a smirk with Witney that isn't lost on you.
"Ah well, we broke up a while ago." You say with a sad smile while raising your cocktail to your lips.
"You should totally reach out to him!" Witney says suddenly, making you choke on your drink.
"Why would I do that?"
"Because you don't know what could happen, maybe he's still into you." Ashley throws out. You forgot how much they loved drama, and how if they don't get it, they'll cause it.
"Yeah, it wouldn't really matter if he did still like me, we just didn't work. We couldn't communicate with each other the way we should." you say, hoping that's the end of it.
"But he's hot, isn't that enough. at least you could get one or two good, hot nights with him." Witney says with a sly smirk.
"Yeah, I'm over this conversation. I'm not going to hook up with him, we are done and that it." You say, letting your mask slip a bit.
"Geez, sorry. We were just trying to get you some." Witney says while Ashley rolls her eyes at you. They stay silent. They're mad at you.
You inhale. "I was thinking," They look up at you. "Maybe we should go out for my birthday." They both perk up immediately and start talking over each other about which bars we should go to, what events are going down, is there any parties going on, what we should wear.
Hey, maybe this won't be that bad.
~ present day ~
"You're right. I was distant. I was so focused on work, and I just thought you'd stay there for me, even though I was neglecting you. You leaving was a big wake up call for me. I had to really change the way I thought about my work and personal life and make them separate." He says, looking at you. You give him a small smile, his hand reaches your face and wipes of a tear. You put your hand over his and lean into it.
"I know I haven't said it. But is missed you. So much." You say, not breaking eye contact, not wanting to ruin this moment with the man you once loved.
"I missed you too." he says quietly. You stare up at him and you begin to smile through your tears and you can feel his breath getting closer as his hand stays on your face, you take this time to hold his face and kiss him. You passionately kiss while his hands make his way into your hair and your arms are wrapped around his neck. It’s like the two of you were trying to get closer, but there was no physical way for that to happen.
When you both finally come up for air and you both are out of breath, your foreheads touch as you look into his eyes.
“You didn’t push me away. I’m right here, I’ve always been here, and I always will be.” He whispers to you and you feel tears slide down your face again as he kisses them away.
~ time jump - a year and four months later ~
You are trying to buckle your heel when you get a knock on the door. You open it to find your handsome boyfriend wearing a nice suit, but with no tie. If you didn't know him, you'd think he was a mafia boss from a romance novel with his tattoos and jewelry. But you know that he could never hurt anybody.
"You look stunning." He says, giving you a bouquet of your favorite flowers and a kiss. The kisses go on for awhile, neither of you coming up for air before he goes "Are you ready to go?" finally breaking your brief make out. You nod in response.
You go to your the fine dining restaurant you always go to on this day. The food was great, as always, and you take a walk in the park. You arms are linked together as you both people watch and and chat about your day.
You come up on a bench and you both have a seat. You see somebody hiding behind a tree. You go to point it out to your boyfriend, but when you turn to him, he is no longer sitting next to you. Instead, he is on the ground, down on one knee. Your hands fly to cover your mouth in shock.
"____, We've had some ups and downs, but we've come out of them all stronger and better than before. In our time apart, I realized, I never want to not have you in my life. Will you please do me the honor of marrying me?" You fly into his arms, toppling him to the ground.
"Of course I will." You say while picking yourselves up and kissing him over and over. Out, from behind the tree, comes Tae and Minji, recording and taking photos. You hug them and cry, Minji compliments the beautiful ring that now sits on your finger.
You thank yourself for the people you've surrounded yourself with, and you thank them for sticking by you, even when you're being unreasonable. People who actually love you aren't easily pushed away, and you're so thankful for that.

Tumblr media
Two weeks passed by and you and Jia pretended as if absolutely nothing happened. It was simply the quiet before the storm.
Your days seemed to blend into nights, you felt yourself slipping into a bad place mentally. Always feeling distant and fatigued.
The emotional turmoil of having your trust broken and your privacy invaded caused you to miss out on much needed sleep.
While on the outside, everything seemed pretty much the usual except for a few painfully obvious differences.
You had stopped (publicly) obsessing over Jungkook, and it initially invited a lot of concern from Yoongi and Namjoon. But they didn’t push you too much when you blatantly ignored their questions about him. You also avoided Jia as much as you could. She didn’t seem to have noticed.
Despite your crush on Jungkook, you had come to accept the boundaries of your non-friendship with him and the fact that he was deeply committed to Jia.
You had no intention of causing any harm to their relationship, as you had already shared your support with Jungkook for their secret.
It was difficult to not think of them. It often made you break into tears of anger and frustration. You had to mourn your loss.
Every night, thoughts of Jungkook would continue to consume you. You’d still imagine him to be yours. Images of him smiling at you and his voice calling you cute would linger in your mind.
It’s just pretend. There’s no harm in it.
You knew that Jia had described you as a ‘creep’ to Jungkook, but the label bothered you. You were not a creep, and you wanted to understand why Jia had portrayed you that way. No matter what you came up with in your head, nothing was a good enough reason to call you such a gross name. Sure, she hadn’t revealed to Jungkook your identity but that baffled you more.
Also, had Jungkook never wondered about this ‘creep’?
Too many things kept you up at night and you couldn’t stand being on the other side of the truth. You could no longer afford to let these things bother you. You were too fucking old for this shit.
With the final week before your course evaluations being right around the corner, you had subconsciously come to some harsh unanimous decisions. They weren’t impulsive or unreasonable. You really had thought this through. These decisions may be a risky, or bitchy, or just as sneaky as Jia was, but they’d still be within reason.
He needed to know the truth about you, Jia, and what she told him.
You wanted to tell Jia that you knew about them. It probably wasn’t going to come out of Jungkook, so it had to be you.
Why must you continue to suffer?
You didn’t want to wait around and anticipate Jia’s next move.
You’re not the type of person who sits around and ignores things like these. You had held it in for a while now.
You understood that your actions would have consequences and you were more than ready to face them. You hoped.
While you pretended nothing ever happened, Jia and you saw way less of each other.
You could count the times you interacted, or even passed by, or saw each other over the weeks on one hand.
Still, every time you’d think about your interaction with Jungkook, you were reminded of Jia too. Him and Jia. You couldn't help but notice his annoyingly deep feelings for Jia. He was so… considerate of her. It probably is just the bare minimum but it doesn’t matter. You could tell he was a great boyfriend to her. No wonder she kept him hidden.
Sometimes, it felt so wrong and scandalous to fantasize about the man. Maybe it even is so. But you weren’t just infatuated with Jungkook. You really liked him. Emotions like these don’t disappear overnight.
You longed to be loved and held by him too.
The campus shuttle came to an abrupt halt, indicating that it was the last stop. You had missed yours.
*
As the semester continued, Jungkook found himself missing the moments he had shared with you before everything became so complicated. Jia completely stopped mentioning you. Whenever he’d ask, she’d pout and demand his attention to be back on her. While he’d give into her, you still remained in the back of his mind.
It was late in the evening, and Jungkook had decided to take a break from his hectic study schedule, opting to go for a walk around his dorm on campus.
As he neared the drop-off point for the shuttle, he couldn't help but think about you, remembering the first time you had met at a bus stand.
He stood there, lost in thought, when he suddenly saw a figure leaning against the street light.
An involuntary smile crossed his face as he couldn't believe the coincidence.
"_____, is that you?" Jungkook called out, waving to get your attention. He jogs to where you now stood upright.
You turned towards him, your eyes widening in surprise as you recognized him. "Jungkook? What are you doing here?"
He chuckled and motioned to the bus station. "Well, it seems like the bus stands are our special spot. I thought I'd take a break and enjoy the nostalgia."
You let out a mix of a sigh and an awkward laugh, feeling a mixture of nostalgia and uncertainty. "It's been a while, hasn't it?"
Jungkook nodded, and he noticed the hesitation in your eyes. "Would you like to grab some dinner? We can catch up?"
You were caught off-guard.
"Right now? It's not late enough for dinner." You attempt to find an excuse.
"Sure it is. There's a new Chinese fusion restaurant right off the road outside." Jungkook urged.
"Fusion? What is it fused with?" You wondered.
Jungkook paused. "I... Actually don't know. Want to find out?" He smiled, invitingly.
Not used to the attention he was giving you just now, you found it difficult to tell him 'no'.
Especially when you really wanted to 'catch up' with him.
So, you reluctantly agreed, and the two of you were headed to the nearby restaurant.
Jungkook smiled back at you as he led the way, "Do you want me to hold your hand? It looks heavy."
WHAT?
Your mouth slightly parted open.
Oh, my god? What was his deal?
You're malfunctioning.
"No. I'd rather not..." You hesitantly refuse. Jungkook slows down to let to catch up to him. "Are you sure? You look like you've been carrying that around for a while. And, I really wouldn't mind it."
More confused than ever, "Well, it is attached to me. I'm okay."
"Well, un-attach it! I'll hold it for you." Jungkook's hands graze your shoulder.
Your brows furrow. Finally, you just ask him. "What?"
"Let me hold your bag. Unbuckle, un-attach, relax." Jungkook blabbered as he switched positions to walk behind you, gently taking your backpack off your shoulders.
Oh.
Oh, no. Did you really think he was asking to hold your hand? Really now?
You big dummy with a capital 'D'.
You sigh. "Okay. Thanks, but let me just-" You cut yourself off by unzipping your backpack and pulling out a white sweater with pearls for buttons.
The two of you pause mid-way so you can comfortably wear your sweater. The temperature was dropping my the hour.
Although you don't have your matching mittens and earmuffs, it should be fine.
"That's pretty, _____." Jungkook complimented you.
"Where'd you get that?" He asked, thinking about how much Jia would like this kind of clothing.
You shyly blush and look down at your glossy, red pointed toe heels, "Thanks. I made it myself with the yarn my mother spun for me."
Jungkook looked genuinely impressed. "No way. That's got to be worth a lot then."
You stared up at him with big eyes. Nobody had ever said such sweet things to you.
(That's a lie. Your other friends have always praised your clothes and outfits. But this is different, so it's ok!)
You wordlessly, softly smile at him. Jungkook stares back at you.
Suddenly, his expression changes. His eyes grow big and his mouth forms a smile, "Ah! Could I commission you to make something just like that for Jia? She loves stuff like that!"
And just like that, your heart shattered. Again.
Your kind smile turned into a forced one. "Maybe if I have time."
You noted that he didn't demand or suggest you to make a sweater for Jia, but rather requested it and offered to compensate for it. That just tells you more about how considerate and present he is.
Every time you've talked to people about your handmade clothes, they'd beg you to make them one or jokingly ask about it so that if you do end up making something for them, they wouldn't have to pay you for your efforts. This doesn't include your friends, obviously. And, even if your friends were to act this way, you'd gladly gift them your handiwork.
Well, even though he's somewhat of a stranger to you, if Jungkook ever asked you for something, you'd probably just do it for him too. No questions asked.
Jungkook asked you about your day and your classes. And, you him.
As you were walking on the snow covered sidewalk, you mentally cuss yourself out for picking these shoes. Not only were your feet partially frozen and numb, but also you were ruining very expensive shoes.
"Oh! Puddle, watch out." Jungkook swiftly skipped over a puddle of water that horizontally covered a significant portion of the walkway from one end to the other.
You watched him regain his footing and turn back to you.
Does he expect you to leap like that? Your legs aren't as long as his! But, you don't gave a choice.
You can't step in it, it could very well be a hole of icy water. That'd be risking a potential amputation.
You can't walk around it because there's nowhere to go. And, you can't switch to walking on the road because, well it's dangerous, and there's a metal partition placed specifically to avoid mixing people on wheels and people on foot.
Jungkook puts his hand out for you to grab.
"Just put one foot out to this side and I'll pull you up. Don't worry! I've always done this with Jia." He mentions Jia, hoping to reassure you that he wouldn't let you slip.
All it does is make you more uneasy. Just the thought of Jia. It has an odd effect on you. Your body feels colder. You shudder briefly.
Your only goal now is to get past this stupid puddle without humiliating yourself. You realize that delaying this makes you look more cowardly, hence humiliating you.
So, you grab hold of Jungkook's surprisingly warm hand. Not going to lie, you faked some uncertainty just so you could keep holding his hand.
Someone has got to get you in check.
Jungkook urged you to trust him yet again. His stance showed he was prepared to pull you through.
You lift your left foot and somehow land it on the other side of the puddle. Not even a second after, Jungkook roughly pulls you to him with all his strength.
Not expecting this amount of force, you clumsily collide into his chest, immediately wrapping your arms around his torso to avoid falling back into the very puddle you were trying to get across from.
Jungkook reciprocates by circling his arms around your shoulders and head.
How you wished he held you elsewhere, but he was so respectful.
Everything happened so quickly.
Embarrassed, your breath hitched and you suddenly pushed him to the side.
"Sorry." You whisper. You don't know if he could even hear you.
You fix your sweater and continue staring at your feet, eyeing the little droplets of water on your pants.
Your tummy and nether regions were blazing fire and you felt your nipples slowly hardening. You clench your hands into fists, desperately praying nothing is visible. I mean, you were wearing white.
You wanted so badly for Jungkook to reach out, just stick his hand up your top and soothe your pretty, sensitive nips. Your breathing has become unstable for a few seconds.
You should be beaten up for having these thoughts about a taken man.
Jungkook suddenly places his hand on your arm, making you jolt. "We're close. Look, it's there." He smiles and points to the establishment.
"Great. I'm so cold." You try to play it off, just in case he noticed something.
You then cover your chest by flipping your hair back over it.
This time, he let you walk ahead of him.
On reaching the restaurant, Jungkook skipped ahead of you and pulled the door open for you. "After you." He smiled, goofily.
You blush and instantly shake it off, "Why, thank you. My fragile hands could never."
Jungkook and you were immediately hit by the warmth and coziness of the home style, Chinese fusion restaurant.
"Huh. This is not at all what I expected." Jungkook looked around, pleased with himself.
You replicated that action.
The restaurant was designed to replicate someone's home, or garage. It had unique tables and chairs. No two items were the same. Even most of cutlery was different.
You appreciated the dedication to this concept.
"Good evening! Table for two?" A very familiar voice interrupted you.
Your head abruptly turned towards the direction of the voice.
"Joon!" You exclaimed, rushing over to throwing yourself into his personal space.
Surprised by your sudden enthusiasm, Jungkook raised a brow. This was the most chipper he'd ever seen you.
Jungkook and Namjoon knew each other.
Other than from your constant yapping, Namjoon knew of Jungkook because Jungkook was actively trying to pursue Namjoon, pleading for him to be Jungkook's musical mentor. However, Namjoon wouldn't budge.
Namjoon instantaneously engulfs your whole body with his arms, rubbing your back.
When Namjoon clearly looked at the man stood behind you, his eyes widened.
No way.
Is this why you went off-grid? Had you finally managed to bag Jeon Jungkook? Namjoon was too stunned to move.
Namjoon was just about to ask you about it when Jungkook speaks instead. "Table for two is right. Thanks."
You let go off Namjoon, confirming Jungkook's words.
Whatever. Namjoon will be blowing your phone up later either way. So, he decided to let you off the hook for the rest of the evening.
Namjoon cheekily smiles at the two of you as he leads you into an isolated booth.
It was a space behind some beaded curtains, giving the illusion of the space being more private.
The table was relatively smaller and surrounding it were three chairs; two regular wooden ones with soft cushions, and one loveseat.
Then, Namjoon abruptly left.
You didn't realize what Namjoon was doing until he returned with two menus and something that looked like a candle and a lighter.
Oh, no.
No. This was NOT happening.
You frown and awkwardly wait for him to set the table up and leave.
What? There's nothing you can do or say without overreacting! It's not like you WANT to wine and dine your friend's boyfriend.
(You totally do, but you would not pull something like that purposely.)
Jungkook seemed to just go with the flow, unbothered.
You promptly sat yourself on one of the wooden chairs and Jungkook opted to sit on the comfortable loveseat.
"So, how do you know Namjoon?" Jungkook wasted no time.
"We've been friends for a while." You continue, "Jia too. She knows him."
At that, Jungkook raises a brow. Jia knows Namjoon? Jungkook has mentioned Namjoon many times before. Jia never indicated that she knew him.
Still, he brushed it off.
"How do you know him?" You ask.
"Oh, he's like rhythm and poetry royalty. I've been sending this man emails for months begging him to mentor me... I can't believe Jia- It's so weird, finally seeing the guy who kept rejecting me." He cut himself off towards the end.
He can't believe Jia WHAT? Tell me. PLEASE.
You painstakingly push your annoyance away.
Instead you laugh, "I had no idea he was being pursued by students, wow."
"Yeah..." Jungkook giggled, somewhat embarrassed.
As the evening went on, you talked quite a bit. If he noticed, he didn't mind your awkwardness.
As if you were suddenly remembering something, you hummed. "I take it you didn't tell Jia about the... thing?" You struggled to find the right words to describe it.
Jungkook slowly nodded and repeated, "The... Thing."
"Yeah. You know, about you guys? Dating?" You press your legs together, a little anxious.
"Oh! Right!" He smiled in realization, "I actually did end up telling her about it that same night." He nodded, this time, positively.
You froze and your face dropped.
Had you been drinking something at that moment, you'd have spat that out. If you were eating at that moment, you'd have dropped your utensils on the floor.
"And then we talked about you for a while. I told her you gave me your word. I mean, I'm sure she already told you..." He continued.
Jia. She knows you know.
"Because she panicked..." Jungkook kept talking but at that point you had tuned him out.
Your mouth involuntarily formed a sad pout. Your eyes which were drying out from tiredness, slowly began to fill up with tears of... frustration, and anger, and confusion.
She knew.
She didn't even try to talk to you.
You assumed she was just busy.
But, she was actually just avoiding you. Just as you her.
Your eyes were glazed over.
The humiliation, guilt, anger and paranoia set in all at once.
Does this mean... Jungkook knows? Is he toying with you?
No. That's far-fetched. Way off. He'd never do that. He was so nice to you all night.
But, he IS a nice guy. Why wouldn't he be nice?
You're starting to make less sense now.
You don't even blink because if you do, your tears won't hold themselves back.
Jia fucking knew and avoided you on purpose. She couldn't face you. She fucking betray you, and she couldn't handle it. She didn't want to face it.
Jungkook sensed that there was something on your mind. "_____, is something wrong? Should I not have told her? What's going on?" He asked, his curiosity piqued.
You hesitated for a moment. You weren't used to being impulsive. That was never you. But, lately, that streak was becoming increasingly steady.
So, you decided to open up. Like an idiot.
"It's me."
Jungkook nervously smiled, "It's you?"
"The 'creep' with the schoolgirl crush." You added.
Jungkook's eyes widened in surprise, and he leaned in, his expression a mix of shock and curiosity. "You? But... I don't understand."
He shook his head and stared at you, expecting you to keep going.
Great job, idiot.
You didn't have a choice now.
You took a deep breath and began to explain, "I had a crush on you, Jungkook. I have a crush on you. I've never been silent about it." You winced.
The tears. They're coming.
"I mean, I've never been silent about it with my friends. Including Jia."
The knot forming in your throat felt tighter.
Jungkook listened carefully, trying to make sense of this... revelation. "So, it was all a misunderstanding? There was never a 'creep'?" He reasoned.
You kept your eyes trained down at your lap, more embarrassed than ever. "I... No? I don't know." Your eyes were heavy with tears. Your nose began to sting.
You pressed your lips together to hold all the ugly sobs in, and squeezed your eyes shut.
"_____?" Jungkook questioned worriedly.
You furrowed your brows and frantically shook your head, "Jia. Everyone, my friends, everyone knew about it- that I liked you. From the day we met. The- it was like a mixer?" You slouch and let your arms fall to your sides, "I can't remember. I've liked you for so long..." You trail off silently shedding tears.
You inhale before letting out a little squeaky apology.
Jungkook only looks at you. He doesn't understand, or register anything.
"_____..." Jungkook begins.
"I didn't know Jia was your girlfriend. I'd always talk to her about you, and how good you looked on whatever, whenever- and how you, and then she..." Your shoulders begin to shake towards the end of your sentence. You fully began to cry.
Thank goodness you were separated from the rest of the restaurant-goers.
You were clearly unable to hold a conversation.
You wanted to bang your head on the table. Repeatedly.
Jungkook's brows almost touched his hairline.
"I'M the 'creep' she told you about. I'm the reason for... But I didn't know. I SWEAR. Until you told me. I knew then." You sniffle every two seconds. "I was going to tell you how I felt but then you- I'm sorry!" You finally broke down, sobbing into your hands.
"Hey. Just... breathe, okay?" You felt Jungkook shimmy out of his seat and back away from the table. He then walks over to you.
You already knew tomorrow's _____ was going to kill herself.
Jungkook pours you a glass of water.
He has no idea what to tell you.
He can't find the words to even begin to describe what he's feeling right now.
Jungkook's brain had stopped generating new thoughts. All he's thinking about is the crying girl in front of him, half-heartedly confessing her feelings for him.
Frustrated, he ran his hands through his hair. Then he looked down at you.
You are whom his girlfriend was worried about?
The same girl whom he hadn't stopped thinking about the past weeks.
The same girl who's his girlfriend's friend. His girlfriend.
His girlfriend who lied- hid things from him.
Had you planned this? Was Jia right to hide him away?
Jungkook really doesn't know what to think.
Jungkook needed to leave. He felt suffocated.
"_____, I'm sorry for the way things turned out. I... wish I had known the truth earlier." Jungkook solemnly spoke.
He hoped you believed him. He can't tell if you're in the right frame of mind to talk. He knows he sure isn't.
You sniffle harder, still appreciating his understanding. "I honestly just wanted to clear the air and be honestly honest with you...." You sigh deeply, speaking shakily. "I just thought... Maybe Jia would talk to me herself. And when she didn't--- I'm sorry I made you uncomfortable."
Jungkook just stood by you, unmovingly. It was as if he himself was trying to figure out what to say.
After what felt like forever, you hesitantly lift your head up to look at Jungkook, "I understand if you'd want to leave now."
And you meant it. You couldn't force him to watch you cry like an idiot. So, you understandingly told him he had a free will, that he could walk away.
And he really did.
Jungkook stared down at your tear-stained face for a few seconds.
Then without uttering a single word, he slowly blinked at you and walked away.
Now, you stare at the back of his head, wide-eyed.
You didn't expect him to actually leave this instance.
I mean, he didn't owe you anything, but you still felt uneasy.
The rational part of you truly understood his choice. But the emotional part of you was destroyed.
Even though you have no right to feel this way, you're so disappointed. In him. In yourself. In Jia. You think that's well deserved though; your disappointment in Jia.
Did she hate you?
Nothing else mattered.
You don’t know it yet but the biggest burden had just been lifted off your shoulders.
(Until you face Jia. But, more on that later.)
And, as for Jia; Jia had enough time to come clean. This was not on you. It was all her.

“You know, this may sound delusional but I think he’s kind of into me,” you blush, hiding half of your blushing face behind your fingers.
“Oh?” Jia smiles at you.
“Yeah, I mean, I think so?”
“What makes you say that?” Jia tilts her head, asking out of curiosity.
“Well, during the whole ‘Antonio is homosexual’ discourse, he sided with me and he sat next to me for the third time this week--” you pause to take a sip out of your cranberry and lychee juice box, “And he drew in my journal. Roses and bunnies. There’s nothing he can’t do.”
Jia reached forward to play with your braided hair, “_____, is he, like, single?”
Anxiously biting at the paper straw that the café gave you, your response was immediate.
“I think so. Nothing on his social media indicates that he’s, you know, not single. He barely posts!” you pout. “Jungkook’s so pretty, he could easily be a model. Super photogenic.”
“Hm, that’s true.” Jia bit her lip. “But what if he was dating someone? It would change things for you,” - “I mean, yeah sure, but I still think I want to confess when I have the chance to.”
“Even if he wasn’t single? Isn’t that kind of an asshole move?” Jia snapped.
Your eyes momentarily widen at her sudden outburst. What had gotten into her?
You grimace at her. “Um, yes. I wouldn’t-” you shrug, “if he has a girlfriend, I will not try anything, of course. But he doesn’t.”
Jia gave you a pointed look, “It was just hypothetical.”
“I know.” You frown.
It’s been a while since you first set your eyes on Jeon Jungkook. But never has the thought of him having a girlfriend ever crossed your mind. He just seemed like a solo rider. It felt safe to crush on him.
The first time you laid your eyes on Jungkook was at a mutual friend’s freshman mixer. You’d like to think you hit it off but couldn’t figure out how to proceed, with your schedules overlapping. Neither of you made the effort to switch around or make it work. So, you don’t feel too bad about it. You have never really crossed paths after that before he was out in the same class as you this semester.
Most people know him as the secret weapon of the music theory and software development thingy departments. He’s easily the most beautiful man on campus and his smarts and personality somehow match up.
You’re pretty sure if this was some shitty, unoriginal, K-drama, he could be the perfect second lead who never gets the girl he wants.
Naturally, after the night of the mixer, you couldn’t help but garner a small, minuscule, almost insignificant crush on the man; which has grown astronomically since then.
You can’t seem to understand what made Jia even ask you something like that. Unless---
“Why would you ask me that out of nowhere? Have you heard otherwise?” You suddenly interrogate her, startling her. She visibly flinches.
“What? No.” You hear her scoff. “I just realised we never discussed it before, ever.”
She laughed it off while you stared at her, unconvinced.
“I told you. Hypothetical.” She reminds you after taking note of your curious and somewhat frazzled state.
Jia was usually never interested in anything you had to say about Jungkook.
Although, you’re able to catch on to some cues slowly. Jia gets annoyed when you blabber about Jungkook. It’s understandable though. You speak of him almost every single day. If Jia were to gush about someone to you the same way, you couldn’t promise you’d receive it any better than she does.
Attempting to change the subject, you offer her a bite of your red velvet pastry, “I think they’ve stopped using the off-brand cream cheese.”
She opens her mouth, waiting for you to feed her.
You spoon a proper amount of cake to icing ratio and wave it in front of her nose.
“It does smell better,” she hums with a pleased expression on her face. “But, the overly sweet cake and bitter matcha combo was charming in its own way.”
An animated, pink, heart-shaped light bulb goes off in your head.
“Do you think Jungkook would like it if I brought him matcha or another drink? It’s a… you know, a gesture. Might put me on his radar.”
So much for wanting to stop discussing him.
You stare at her, eagerly waiting for her take on your little idea.
She snickered, but you swore it could be mistaken for a scoff, “Just leave him be.”
You quiet down but internally make a note to yourself to buy two cranberry lychee juice boxes instead of one tomorrow. Boys like cranberry, right?
Recently, you’ve been finding Jia more irritable. Not just when you blab about some guy but even in general. You swore you could feel her distancing herself from you and that’s a chance you don’t want to take.
Jia isn’t the only one on the receiving end of your love-foolish chatter.
By now, you’ve most definitely discussed it with almost every friend of yours, excluding the mutual ones you share with Jungkook. Even the friends who don’t go to the same university as you know of your crush on Jungkook. Although, they’re a tad more receptive to your endless chatter than Jia.
It’s embarrassing only if you really, really think about it. But, you generally brush the humiliation off as a secondary, less important issue.
Jia and your relationship started and ended right where it began--- at university. She’s your only friend in university with whom you share most of your classes, precisely six out of nine in total.
During your first year, you decided to stick together out of convenience, sharing a fashion designing and styling major and whatnot. It’s easier to latch onto each other when you’re expected to work in a group than find someone new and socialize at this level. The competition is pretty cutthroat, you wouldn’t want to risk working alongside someone you have no chemistry with. It’s too late for experimentation.
Jia, unlike you, lives off-campus and her bus arrives almost twenty minutes before your college shuttle that goes directly from the cafe to your dorm gate. So, you accompany her to the bus station and wander off for a while.
Remembering to run a small errand, you stop at a stationary store to buy ribbons and envelopes. Just in case.
It was a fifteen-minute walk to the store and back. You swing your fluffy, white bag and trot to your favourite place within a five-mile radius of your campus.
You liked to envision your relationships. It’s most certainly not healthy but Jungkook is just oh, so dreamy, you couldn’t help it even if you tried.
You stare off into the sky, daydreaming of your non-existent relationship with him.
You would write him love notes and letters frequently and decorate them with fresh, red, or pink lipstick stain kisses, maybe a few doodles and stickers as well. And when he’d buy you flowers, you’d do your best to dry them and preserve them so that you can look back at your relationship and swoon.
Maybe he’d take you to watch plays or concerts or maybe he’s the type to win you a stuffed toy at the carnival or to dress up for a theme party. And you could save the tickets and wristbands from those events.
You can’t even bear the thought of actually being able to go to a regular college party with him, being his date, the one who gets to dance on him, hold him and kiss him--- that’d disappoint quite a lot of people, you reckon. He is well-liked. A tiny bit private too. Maybe you could be his little secret. The thought of being his secret girlfriend turns you redder than a plum. Imagining yourself being his anything makes your heart pump blood twice as hard as the normal rate.
“Hey?”
Sigh.
“_____?”
Involuntarily, you respond to your name being called, “Huh?”
“Hey, you’re holding up the line.”
Your eyes focus on the familiar-faced cashier. An embarrassed giggle escapes your lips. You quietly apologised to the customers behind you.
“Joon. Hi, sorry. Spaced out.” You blush. As if he knows what you’re thinking about, he smiles fondly, “I don’t know if it’s cute or creepy that you think of him this often.”
Furrowing your brows, “It’s innocent! I’m not, like, harassing him or sexualizing him or anything.”
Namjoon scans your ribbons and the packet of off-white envelopes, “I’m only messing with you, cloud.”
You hum knowingly. “See you in class.”
You wave him off.
'Cloud' is one of the nicknames lovingly given to you by your seniors, Namjoon and Yoongi.
Yoongi says that you think miles ahead and higher than anyone else he knows and Namjoon agrees. But, you’ve always thought it was because you’ve got your head up in the clouds most of the time. It’s like a permanent state of consciousness. It is your only indulgence. Time goes by way too fast, you’re busy all the time. The only ‘escape’ is your silly little daydreams.
While people find your crush on Jungkook cute, sometimes you can’t help but put yourself in his shoes.
You wouldn’t want someone like you crushing on you, so why would he? It’s one of the things that has stopped you from actually asking him out, or talking to him at all in the past.
Now, on the other hand, you’re nearing the end of the semester and the beginning of your winter break. Soon, you’ll have all the time in the world.
This time, you refuse to get too ahead of yourself and fantasize about your prementioned relationship. Perhaps, it’s ambitious or even egoistical to call it a premonition.
You’re on your way back to the shuttle pick up point when you notice another oddly familiar figure.
Jungkook!
You shake your nerves and walk as casually as you possibly can, to where he stood.
Secretly clearing your throat, you greet him with a shy smile, “Hi.”
When he doesn’t respond, you debate on shifting even closer, but that would be an awkward move and a serious invasion of his personal space. His dark hoodie seemed to interfere with his peripheral vision, too.
So, you tap him gently on the arm. His head swiftly faces yours, making you take a step or two back.
“Hi,” You owlishly stare at him.
Jungkook scrunches his brows, a little embarrassed that he doesn’t recognise you.
“Hey… how are you?” He recovers. “Good! A little cold.” You smile.
It smelt like snow, but you wouldn’t want to creep him out with your odd senses.
Where did he know you from? He’s positive he has seen you before.
“Right, yeah. It smells like snow,” he responds.
t that, your mouth almost drops open. That’s what you were going to say too!
Your enthusiasm shows as you explain, “It does! I thought I’d scare you if I said something like that.”
The corners of Jungkook’s eyes crinkle, complimenting the huge smile that adorned his face.
“I’m Jungkook. Or JK. What’s your name?”
Oh?
Ow, you internally clench your heart.
Your face momentarily falls deep down into the ground, but you almost instantaneously pick it right back up.
The object of your secret affection doesn’t :) even :) know :) you.
“_____.” You shyly brush your hair off your shoulder to your back, “We’re in literary theory studies with-” -  “Carmichael? Right! You’re Jia’s _____.”
You falter but register what he just said to you.
Whose what now?
He nods, “I knew I saw your face before! I remember your elocution thing about Woolf. It left a mark on me!” He pats you on the shoulder. Like you would a child.
But, more importantly, Jia’s _____?
You knew the girl had godly looks and an angelic personality, but- “Hey, is everything okay? I swear I meant it in the best way possible. I didn’t have much interest in literature. But ever since that speech, I’ve been focusing more on figuring out books by myself rather than depending on what the author tries to convey. It’s fun to be rebellious.” Jungkook elaborates when he sees your eyes dim.
You fail to register his compliments for a bit. A million thoughts are racing in your mind at thousands of miles an hour.
“_____?” Jungkook slightly bends his knees to get a better look at you.
“Mhm, right. The correct term is intentional fallacy,” you mutter with a ghost of a smile. “And, thanks.”
Although Jungkook’s a little confused, he nods anyway. “Yeah! I-”
Tilting your head to the side, you blurt, “How do you know Jia?”
Jungkook stares at you.
“Sorry, I mean, I don’t know. She has never… mentioned you before?” you offer.
“Oh. Well, I’m- Jia’s my girlfriend. She has talked about you a few times. Enough to know you’re good friends,” he blushes.
“Oh!” You squeak.
You clutched the bag of accessories tighter. You’re sure your nails have made little, crescent injunctions on your palm because of how tightly you gripped the handle.
“Yeah. She didn’t tell you it was me…?” Jungkook was starting to look worried.
“Huh? No, yeah.” You nervously laugh, “I must’ve glossed over it, I mean- you know.”
You’ve never stuttered so hard in your entire twenty years of living.
“Actually, yes, I believe she did talk about you. The- uh, the candles?” You suddenly, vaguely remembered Jia talking about making candles with an ‘almost boyfriend’ friend.
Talk about quick reflexes.
Just like that, Jungkook lets out a sigh of relief, “Oh, good! You looked like you were about to start crying. Because- well, she tells me about this girl she's friends with who has some kind of a creepy, schoolgirl crush on me or something. And for a hot second, I thought that’d be you.”
You raised a brow. Way too many revelations are being made against your will. And your mind is empty. Null. Nada. Not a thought in that pretty little head of yours.
“Yeah. I know it sounds strange, turns out I don’t even know this girl.” Jungkook looked down at his phone, “The bus is later than usual.”
It’s hard to make sense of everything. Why would he suddenly assume you were the girl even though you’re Jia’s friend?
You press your lips together. “Do you think it’s creepy?”
“The- what?” He looks up from his phone, with his full attention on you.
“The girl. Who crushes on you or whatever.” You reiterate, “Do you find that creepy?”
Jungkook pauses. He tilted his head from side to side, deep in thought.
“Honestly?” He leans in closer to you and raises a brow, “Maybe a little. I mean, I don’t even know her. But, Jia does. They’re friends. Then again, maybe, creepy is an overstatement.”
You hum and stare at your feet.
Sadness and cold do not go well together. This time, actual tears threaten to slide down your cheeks. You shift your weight from one foot to another.
“Why’d you ask?” Jungkook senses a shift in mood.
“Oh, just out of curiosity.” You flash him a small smile. It didn’t reach your eyes. Jungkook slowly nods and goes back to checking his phone for updates.
Part of you wants to admit to him that it was you because suddenly, Jia’s questions from earlier that day made sense.
But then, you don’t want him to think of you as some creepy girl with a creepy crush.
You weren’t creepy.
People would’ve told you off if that were to be the case. They mostly encouraged you or at least didn’t stop you.
With the exception of Jia, of course. Even then, she wasn’t entirely vocal about it.
Is it pity or sadism?
Was everyone hiding this from you? Did everyone but you know about it?
You doubt that Sieun, a mutual friend of yours and Jia, would keep something like this from you if she knew.
But then again, you never expected Jia to turn out to be so… sneaky.
Your sadness outweighs your embarrassment.
“Are you waiting for the shuttle too?” he questions you with a raised brow.
You open your mouth for a second or two before settling on nodding.
“I don’t think the bus will get here anytime soon. It’s already snowed in on the fifth.” Jungkook turns the bright screen towards you. “We can Uber out of here before the snow sets in here. Unless you want to wait?”
“Sure,” you plainly reply.
“Is that a yes to the waiting or?” Jungkook chuckled.
“No. No more waiting. Uber’s good.” you softly spoke.
“Great, I’m on it!” He affirms.
It’s still unsettling for you to have no natural, outward reaction to indirectly being called a creep by someone you admired for so long.
Suddenly, your embarrassment skyrockets.
You can’t comprehend your emotions; you feel like you’ve been punched in the throat with a stone brick.
There are dead butterflies in your tummy--- moths. The wind feels colder, and you shudder.
You stare at the chipped nail polish on your thumb.
A warm jacket suddenly dons on your shoulders. “You need it way more than I do.” Jungkook frowns, “Are you okay?”
You abruptly turn to him, thanking him gently for his jacket, “I was just cold.”
You softly scoff, “You’re awfully kind.”
Jungkook pats you on the shoulder before he says, “Any friend of my girlfriend is a friend of mine! Plus, you’re cute.”
He’s really cheesy. Even though the single mention of Jia struck very thick, large needles in your tummy, you couldn’t help but smile at his words.
Au contraire to your expression, for the first time in a while, you’re not in the clouds but the complete opposite--- grounded, perhaps a more accurate term would be ‘devastated’. You’re absolutely, completely floored. Underground. Downright stumped. Confused. Definitely angry.
You vowed to push your emotions away for the duration of your travel with Jungkook.

The restaurant took twice the amount of time they usually do to deliver your orders. On top of that, they ended up charging you a convenience fee for taking too long.
Taehyung was now on the phone, negotiating a refund or a discount from the place.
Meanwhile, you had tucked yourself in bed. You still had a lot to ask him. Now that you saw Yoongi’s girlfriend on his phone, you’re wondering if Taehyung’s close to her. It’d be awkward if they were.
On the contrary, you do feel a tad better at the idea that your friend was no stranger to the woman. For Nao.
Even though Yoongi would never bring anyone he didn’t trust wholly around your daughter, it’s an extra layer of security for Taehyung to know or know of her.
Taehyung walks into your room with freshly picked peonies in his hand.
“I still can’t believe you’re letting Nao meet her before you do.” He voices.
Still, you skip over the statement, “What is that in your hand?” Taehyung didn’t have those with him when he came.
“They’re flowers.”
“Yeah, they’re peonies. Like the ones Katarina grows. In her garden.” You observed, realisation hitting you slowly.
“Ok, what’s your point?” He pauses and sniffs the petals, “WOW, these are fragrant.”
A little agitated, you prop yourself up on your elbows, “My point is that you stole my neighbour’s flowers?”
It’s hard enough maintaining a flower garden in an apartment complex. You did not want to participate in ruining it for her.
Taehyung took offence to your accusation, “I didn’t steal! I bought them.”
Confused, you ask, “Why?”
“They’re for you. For your room. I thought you liked flowers.” He looks around your room.
Oh.
“Where’s the crystal vase I gave you?” Taehyung walks into your closet in search of it.
“Next to the shoes,” you trail off, “I think…”
You were used to Yoongi bringing your flowers every other week. But because he stopped recently, you put all your flower vases away in storage not wanting to be reminded of Yoongi’s flowers, or rather, the absence thereof.
Reemerging from your closet, he sets up the flowers on your bedside table. And you fall back in bed with a ‘thud.’
“Tae…” You trail off, lazily patting the spot next to you.
He joins you in bed, “Yeah?”
“Are you close with her? Like, are you friends?”
He carefully watches you.
Your eyes were trained to your ceiling but you could tell that his were on you.
“I met her at the gallery a few times. We went clubbing together. That… Do you remember when I invited you that one time?”
With your brows scrunched, you rapidly turn your head to face him, startling him.
“YOU INTRODUCED THEM?” You couldn’t control the way that came out.
“I didn’t intend to! I- I wanted you to meet her, but when you said no…” His voice faded off.
He looked like a kicked puppy. However, you were too riled up to stop.
Suddenly, you jump off the bed, feeling a rush of emotions. This was one of those moments when you could feel the blood pumping through your veins and hear your own heartbeat in your ears, and you couldn’t just lie still.
You run your hands through your hair, “I can’t believe you introduced my ex to his WIFE.”
By enunciating every word, you tried to process this new piece of information in your own way.
You couldn’t help but wonder; Had you not refused to go out with Taehyung because of Yoongi being there too, is it possible that you and Yoongi would’ve ended up together instead?
It wasn’t Taehyung you were angry with. It was yourself. But you were in too deep and couldn’t help the words coming out of your mouth.
Still, you continue, “And you didn’t even TELL me about them.”
“And how long have Yoongi’s ‘other girls’ lasted? And what even was this? Love at first sight or some bull?” You’re pacing around your room. “You could’ve warned me, Taehyung.”
“What? What just happened?” He asks, mostly to himself.
Sitting up, he explains, “_____, I didn’t know. I didn’t know they kept in touch! He didn’t seem that into her!” Taehyung was visibly forcing himself to keep his voice down. His tone of speech still leaned towards comforting.
Holding Taehyung’s full focus now, you almost whine, “I don’t deserve this.” You point a finger at him, “Just answer me.”
After a long pause, he sighs, “What do you want to know?”
“Why did nobody warn me?”
“_____, you’re putting me in a difficult position here.”
“No, I’m not.” You dismiss immediately, “Why did none of you lot tell me about this new girl? Why was I so out of the loop? It’s like you were trying to exclude me because you like Yoongi more or something-”
“_____, YOU told us not to. That’s why nobody ‘warned’ you. You can’t get mad at US for respecting YOUR wishes.”
Flabbergasted, you gasp, “WHAT are you talking about?”
“You don’t remember? YOU told us to never update you about Yoongi.”
You shook your head.
You don’t believe him. “That’s stupid.”
“I agree.” He nods.
“No. I mean, you saying that. That’s not right.” – “_____. You might not remember it, but you weren’t the easiest person to be around after you broke up with Yoongi.”
“I know. I was there,” you spat, spitefully.
Taehyung frowned, “This is why I didn’t want to do this.”
That pauses your train of thought. You don’t understand why he’d bring this up now. You knew you were a mess.
After Yoongi moved out of the home you shared, your break up was actually finalized.
After that, all your time went to your daughter. You were hyper-fixated on her and might’ve neglected other aspects of your life, but you’ve come so far that you don’t understand why he’d remind you of that again.
Mayhaps you should take it down a few notches. But your head was too full of anger to acknowledge his stance.
“Forget about it. Let’s not do this now,” Taehyung kindly suggests. “Why don’t we go down to the bakery?”
Anxiously scratching your neck, you declined, “Taehyung, no. Just… I really don’t remember saying that,” you spoke somewhat apologetically.
You returned to bed, plopping yourself next to him.
Gracefully accepting, Taehyung coos, “I know, angel. But that really is all I can say.”
Yet another moment of silence takes over your space.
You cleared your throat, “Is she a good person?”
Taehyung looked at you awkwardly.
Before he could respond, you add, “She seems to know about me, I want to know her too.”
“She’s okay.” He shrugged, making your smile a little. “Don’t try to flatter me…”
That smile doesn’t last very long though. Taehyung caresses your back as you navigate your emotions. “I want to cry but I can’t and I don’t know why.”
Taehyung opens and shuts his mouth a few times, debating whether or not he should say anything.
You change the topic before he could, “Where’s the food?”
“I traded it for the flowers.” – “That’s nice.”
Taehyung remained by your side, his presence a source of comfort amidst the chaos in your mind.
Wordlessly, he offered a supportive embrace that you eagerly accepted.
As you sat there, grappling with your emotions, your phone abruptly rang, startling both you and Taehyung.
The caller ID displayed Yoongi’s name, and for a moment, your heart stopped.

Washed Up - Chapter 2
Pairing: Kim Taehyung x Reader; Angsty Fic
Summary: You've decided to audition, but will it be that easy?
You run into old acquaintances from the industry and new enemies.
Author's Note: I'm sorry it's taking me so long to write this, but I'm trying to write more lately.
Warnings: mentions of alcoholism, mental health issues, swearing, general angst.
(previous chapter) - (next chapter)
“Sorry! I’m just so proud of you! It doesn’t matter to me if you do the worst acting you’ve ever done. We are going to get through it together! Oh my god, ok. Ok.” Papers shuffle in the background as she mumbles to herself. “ Ok, so I’m sending the script over to you now. Somebody will drop them off in about an hour. Learn them the best you can and I’ll be over tonight to help you. The auditions are next week and we have a lot to work to do. I hear Song Mijoo is also auditioning. She will be tough competition.”
“Song Mijoo? Wasn’t she that rookie idol that wanted to break into acting? I remember just thinking she was okay but she was so stiff whenever she delivered her lines.” You said into the phone, starting to calm down and make yourself a cup of tea.
“Oh, that’s definitely her. But she’s changed a lot over the years, she started working with that one coach, Kim Minji, that worked with your costar on The Star’s Above, Jiwon.” Rina said, keyboard clacking in the background. She’s likely putting everything in motion as fast as she can so that I can’t change my mind. Wise decision on her part.
“Minji is a miracle worker. Anybody who can make Lee Jiwon actually able to cry instead of having to use any artificial tears deserves to win every award.”  You both laugh at that statement. “Ok, tough competition then, so I’ll need to practice as much as a can. I guess it’s a good thing I don’t have a job.” You say with a chuckle, but it’s a bit empty. You can crack jokes all you want but inside you just feel a huge pit in your stomach.
Were you making the right decision? You didn’t want to mess up and embarrass yourself. Again. And this time you would have to be, painfully, sober. God, this was going to really hard.
Over the 4 days, you read the script and practice the lines. Rina was right, this script did speak to you. It’s about a woman, Eunji,  who was trying to get back into her career and life after years of being a wife to a husband who was negligent. While you lost your career due to your own issues with alcoholism and mental health, you can relate to the her feeling of the loss of her youth and the character’s struggles with her own mental health.
The audition scene is a pivotal part of the show where Eunji has realized her husband is having a child with her best friend. She’s extremely hurt, not just because she’s learning the two most important people in her life are betraying her, but also because she’s never been able to have children, which she has always wanted.
It’s a heart wrenching scene and you just hope that you’re able to portray the feelings you have to, you really want this role and so you start to muster up some feelings from your past. You think about the life you had imagined for yourself when you had just begun in this industry.
You were 16, your mom had gotten you into this high school drama, she had gone to school with one of the producers of the show. You were just an extra with one line in one of the episodes. But then they started calling you back to do other small roles in their other shows. By 18, you had landed your first lead. In a high school drama, you were the main character who was in love with your best friend’s brother. It was a very stereotypical romance drama. But there was a scene in it where you got to show of your dramatic work when the male lead left your character to go study in the England.
After that role you started to book more lead roles and by 22 and decided to take a role about a teacher. The show was an easy one to be on. A show about a teacher who was falling in love with a parent of one of her students. That’s where you met Tae, or I guess V now. He was silly and optimistic. He played a recurring character, he was a teacher who would sometimes be comedic relief.
At first you guys weren’t close, but you could definitely tell he was an attractive man. But you couldn’t date, you had to focus on your career. You were on a fast track to be the top actress in Korea at the time. But then one day he bumped into you, and he was so nervous and cute, which normally wouldn’t have affected you, but then you saw his smile. His adorable wide smile. It’s like all dreams for your future flew out the window and all you could think of was how to get this man to smile at you again.
You soon found yourself searching for him in every scene you did together. You even went as far as asking the writers to make his role larger, pretending that it was just because his character was so funny. He was a very good actor too so it wasn’t hard to pull the strings.
Before you knew it he asked you out, and you knew you shouldn’t but you couldn’t help but say yes to him. Especially after how brightly he smiled at you. It wasn’t much longer until you were kissing him and staying over at his apartment most nights a week. You thought you could live forever in his arms, talking about your goals and dreams.
It was peaceful for a couple months, until a paparazzi caught a photo of you guys while you were getting breakfast after a night you had spent together. Your manager at the time was freaking out and your company had decided the best way to deal with it was to have you deny any relationship with him. They said you couldn’t be seen as the type of girl who was unavailable, not at such a young age. They told you if you wanted to make it, then you had to listen to them. They convinced you that if you weren’t viewed as attractive to your fans, they wouldn’t want to watch you. Claiming that your acting was no good unless he public viewed you as fuckable.  And like a stupid, naive young girl, you believed them.
You snap out of it when you hear Rina walk through the door of your home. She’s holding groceries and walks straight to your kitchen counter.
“I got some dinner, which I figure we can eat right now, but I got us some sweets for when we finish running lines. I thought it would be a nice treat –“ She stops suddenly when she looks at you for the first time. For the first time, you realize that you had been crying. Your eyes were puffy and red, cheeks stained with tears. Rina comes towards you quickly.
“Are you okay? Are you having regrets? We can pull out if we have to. You matter more to me than your comeback.” You smile at her as you shake your head.
“No no, I’m fine. I just was trying to muster up some old feelings so I can connect with the character.” You say, wiping the tears from your face. Rina steps closer and holds you in her arms.
“Ok, well if you decide it’s too much, don’t feel like you’ll disappoint me. I don’t think there is anything you could do that would ever disappoint me.” She pats your back as you feel yourself calm down and like that, you feel like yourself again.
You wipe your face and slap your hands down on your knees, making a loud slapping noise. “Ok, let’s eat and then get to work. I still have a long way to go.”
--
Days of working every minute on your craft, Rina had helped you film your audition and send it in. It took a couple takes, but you selected the best one. You didn’t want to look, but you forced yourself to, as Rina sent it off. You felt like a boulder had been lifted off of your chest. You felt relieved, and almost hopeful.
Some days passed and your anxiety began to grow as you waited for a response. You knew this could take some time, but you just wanted it to be done already. Did you make it to the next stage or was all of this a mistake. You had to keep reminding yourself to not get so negative, but after being out all these years, it just doesn’t feel right to be confident.
A week after you had sent in your tape you were cooking lunch for Rina and you were going to bring it to her office. Both of you were single so you did couple things together, like going to paint classes, picking up groceries together, and sometimes you made her lunch. She was an awful cook, so you offered to cook for her most of the time. You guys don’t live that far apart so its easy to pop into each other’s homes. You have keys for her apartment, as does she for your home.
You enter the building through the back entrance they give to celebrities who don’t want to be photographed. I feel the air change as I step into the office. I see the secretary look at me and look away with a grin. Oh no… I didn’t get it and now everybody is laughing at me. My stomach drops. I was so stupid to even try for it. I should’ve known that I lost my touch. I try to avoid contact with the rest of the workers as I make my way to Rina’s office. I take a breath before I open the door, prepping myself to face disappointment.
When I open the door I’m shocked. Rina has a cake and pops the cork on the "champagne" in her hands as she sees me walk in.
“Congratulations you talented bitch! You made it to a chemistry read! You’re this much closer to getting back into the industry!!” Rina shouts while jumping up and down. You feel a smile creep onto your face as you watch the 30 year old toddler. Did you really do it? Is it really happening? What happens now? Will you be able to prove yourself again, or will you fail again in front of everybody? Your smile drops as you start to spiral. Rina immediately senses what’s going through your head and rushes over to you.
“Hey, it’ll be alright.” She pats your back “Just breath in.” You listen to her. “and breath out.” And you do. “It’ll all work out. I have a feeling that you’ll get the role. I wouldn’t have presented it to you if I didn’t think that you’d be able to do it. But ____ so much time has passed, and look how quickly you fell into it again. You’re a natural, and you’ve been doing this for years. It’s like riding a bike.” She says, comforting you.
You wipe your tears and laugh “ That’s not relatable. You know I don’t know how to ride a bike.”
She laughs at your joke. “Ok, that its as easy as breathing. Acting is like breathing for you. I know because I’ve seen it. You are talented, so talented and so strong that I know you can get this role and get back up onto your feet, and even if you don’t get this role, it doesn’t matter because there are so many other projects that you would absolutely kill it in.”
She’s right, this role is everything, but also nothing. Your life wont end if you don’t land this part, this audition is just your first step out the door, your first toe back into the pool and once you make the plunge, there’s no going back.
--
The next week you arrive to the studio where you’ll be doing your chemistry read. Rina asked who you would be doing the read with and they said it would be the second male lead for now. An idol who is making his acting debut names Jungkook. You’re doing one of the scenes where your character has to reject the second male lead, a man who is higher up in the company but younger than your character. Unfortunately for him, at this point in the story the character has started to fall in love with the CEO of the company, who is also her best friend’s older brother that she has known her whole life. But she has gotten very close with the second male lead, as he has helped her transition back into the work place and they have become very close friends. So the scene is very emotional because they both want to be there for each other, but know that they aren’t on the same page.
Makeup artists touch up your makeup and hair before you sit on a stool in front of a camera. Behind the camera is Rina, several producers, writers, assistants, and the director, Min Yoongi. You’ve worked with him before, but he was only an assistant director back then. You’ve remained on good terms with him, the last time you had worked with him was before you became an alcoholic, although it would be hard for anyone in the industry at that time to have not heard what you became.
“____ How have you been?” Yoongi asks while walking up to you, holding his hand out for a hand shake.
“Yoongi, I’ve been doing well.” You say with a slight smile on your face.
“Genuinely?” He says with a concerned look on his face. You know that some people would be offended by this, but you know that he’s a straight forwards guy who just wants to make sure you aren’t going to ruin his project if you land the part.
You draw a deep breath in. “Genuinely. I’ll be candid with you, I’m 6 years sober.” You say, knowing that with him, you have to be honest. It’s probably one of the only things that he truly respects about a person.
With that he offers you one of his signature closed mouth smiles where just the corners go up. “Good, that’s good.” He says giving you a pat on the shoulder. One reason why you guys always got along was that you didn’t have to talk a lot to understand each other. You both were quiet and reserved people who just focused on the work they had to do. “Alright, lets get this started. Taehyung should be here any minute now.”
And like that the breath left your chest. You hear Rina pounce as you feel unable to move.
“I thought she would be doing a read with Jungkook today? That’s what she’s rehearsed for. Why weren’t we notifies of this change?” she says, you see Yoongi withdraw back into himself, clearly intimidated by your best friends protective mama bear side. One of the producers speaks up instead. A younger woman in a classy dress with a neat bob with blunt bangs.
“Jungkook had some idol promotion work that came up and we are running a tight schedule, V was available. Does she want this or not? If she’s truly a good actress like everybody had said she was, then she should be able to read the lines with him.” You can’t help but notice a slight smirk on her face. You can’t help having noticed her ‘was’ when talking about your acting skills. She was challenging you. And you knew you couldn’t disappoint everybody again, you had to prove to everybody that you still have what it takes to be a top star.
Rina starts to respond but you stop her. “You’re absolutely right, Miss…?” you ask.
“LaLisa Manobal, but most people know me as Lisa” she says with an eyebrow raised to you.
“Ah yes, I’ve hear of your work Miss Manobal.” You had heard of her years before. She was an idol from a young age who went solo and had wanted to getting into some of behind the scenes work of making drama. It seems that she’s succeeded now.  “Well, I can assure you that I am still perfectly capable of a simple chemistry read.” You say with fake arrogance. The truth is this wasn’t simple. It was the furthest thing from it. Soon you were going to have to see the only man you have ever loved for the first time since you broke his heart six years ago. ‘
“V’s car just pulled up, they’re bringing him up now.” One of the PAs says to Yoongi. You feel your heart stop, you start to breath faster as you feel your heart beating so loud that you’re scared they can all hear it.
You breathe in. You breathe out. You’ve got this. You practiced this. You worked so hard for this. Breath in. Breathe out.
“You okay?” Rina mouths from behind the camera. You nod. You are okay. Not good, not bad, just okay.
That’s when you hear the door click open, some body guard and managers walk through first and that’s when you see him.
Kim Taehyung. Your Tae. The only man you’ve ever loved.

Cheap Vacations
Pairing: Kim Namjoon x Reader; Angsty Fluff
Summary: You've been in recovery for awhile now, and you're so tired of the people around you coddling you. You ask your boyfriend to come with you on a spontaneous trip, but will he end up disappointing you?
Author's Note: This is based of the song Cheap Vacations by Tobi Lou. He's my second favorite artist after BTS, and I was really depressed in 2020 and I was listening to a lot of sad music. But the song is really good!!! So I suggest listening to the before, during, or after.
Warnings: reader in recovery for a prescription addiction, lot of talk about recovery and mental illness, pretty angsty.
You sit at the window looking at the planes. You look down at your phone to check the time. Your plane to Greece was leaving in 30 minutes. You booked it a week ago when you got home for you and your boyfriend. But he still wasn’t here.
Where is he?! You think to yourself. You told him to be early to the airport but he still wasn’t here. If he’s late you don’t know what you’ll do. Your hands start to shake while you think about getting onto the plane alone. What I would do for a Xanax right now.
You check the time again, just as you pick up your phone it starts to ring. You immediately pick up.
“Namjoon, where are you?” You whisper scream into your phone.
“Baby, I’m not coming.” He said calmly.
“What do you mean? I can’t get onto the plane alone. I need you here with me.” You say starting to tear up and your voice starts to break. Your body starts to shake and you feel the knot in your stomach turn into a rock. You feel weighted down and you feel as though you are about to start sinking into the ground.
“Baby you didn’t ask me if I even wanted to go.” You could hear the guilt in his voice.
“It was supposed to be romantic.” You say weakly. You didn’t understand why he didn’t want to do this with you. To be honest, the break was much needed. Everything in life was always so overwhelming and you just needed some time to take a breath with the love of your life. You needed something new in your life.
“I also don’t think that you should go on this trip. ____, you just got out of rehab. I don’t think that going on a plane, which you find extremely stressful, in a country that doesn’t speak your native language, is a good idea. I missed you so much, can’t we just take a trip here?”
You understood where he was coming from. You had a really rough eight months in rehab to get better. And you were, better that is.
“I just need to get away. I need to get away from everybody treating me like a baby. I need something new for awhile. I want to find a new high. A different high that healthy for me. I just wanted to get a breath of fresh air with you, and when I saw the tickets to Greece I thought it would be good for us. I didn’t get to have alone time with you for eight months and I just wanted to go on this trip. I got a window seat for you and I needed you. I feel like absolute shit all the time and like I'm disappointing everybody all the time. I just wanted to be in a new place with people that don't know me or what I've done.” You sob into the phone. You hated flying alone, your anxiety made it impossible to not have a panic attack on the plane.
“Baby-“ Namjoon begins to speak, but is cut off by the speaker announcing the boarding for your flight.
“I don’t care whether you come or not. I’m going. I need this, and I had hoped you would’ve been here with me, but you weren’t. So I’ll do it on my own. My therapist taught me to be independent, so that’s what I’m going to do.” You say trying to convince him, as well as yourself. “I love you and I’ll contact you when I land. We can talk about how we are going to continue when I get home.”
You end the call and grab your bag and get into the line. You feel yourself starting to shake but you begin to breathe in and out. You didn’t need the Xanax or the Kolonopin. You didn’t do that anymore. You think back to Dr. Rall’s advice and instead of dwelling on all the bad thing, you distract yourself with the good things. While it didn’t cure your state of being, it helped you feel a little more comfortable. You board the plane and sit in your seat, looking at the empty seat next you and you feel the tears welling in your eyes.
Your sadness is interrupted when by a familiar voice.
“I believe that is my seat.”
You look up to see Namjoon with his bag. You smile but tears are still falling. He takes his seat next to you and grabs your hand.
“I thought you weren’t coming…” you say quietly.
“I was already through the check in, but I was hesitant. I wasn’t sure if you were doing this for the right reasons. I had to make sure it wasn’t manic decision. But what you said on the phone. It broke my heart. I’m sorry you feel over crowded, it’s the last thing you need right now.” He said while he grabbed your hand. You see his eyes tear up a bit as well.
You feel comforted while he rubs the back of your hand with his thumb. “I love you and if you need me, I’ll always be there.” He rests his forehead against yours. You stay there for a bit until you are told you have to buckle up and you both are pulled from your little world.
You both take out your own book to read and you share headphones. At first it was rough, but he held your hand again and eventually, using your breathing exercises and stress techniques to calm yourself down. Eventually the eventful morning catches up with you and you feel your eyes become heavy.
You fall asleep at peace with your head on Namjoon’s shoulder. He smiles when he sees the smile on your face. It reminded him of what you were like before the addiction and stress. He loved you then, and he loves you now.
No matter what struggles you went through, he would always be there for you.

Bus Stop Meet Cute
Pairing: Jin X Reader; Fluff
Summary: You're known for always having your head in the clouds, dreaming yourself a better life. One day you try to make your dreams a reality by doing something extremely out of character.
Author's Note: This is my personal favorites of all of my old writings, I also think this is the only one of the old ones that I wrote sober, so that checks out.
Warnings: I don't think any? Let me know if you think there should be. It's mainly just fluff?
Love Story by Suran plays in your headphones while you stare out the window. You watch all the people pass by as you smile. This was your favorite part of the day. You had just gotten off of work at the cafe you work at, and now you get to people watch on the bus ride home.
You often look at the people who are passing by and create little stories of their lives. Your mother always told you that it wasn’t healthy how much you daydream. Maybe she’s right, but it was your escape. You wanted to be a writer, but until you finish your novel, you need to continue to pay your bills. Working a full time job makes it hard to write, so you have to find time when you can.
You see a woman in a beautiful pale blue dress and you start writing a story in your head about how she is about to go on a date with the man of her dreams. You imagine how they met, what may have kept them apart, and how they finally got together. You smile at the nice ending that you gave the stranger, but soon frown, you feel a longing to have your own love story. These things don’t really happen in real life.
You search for your next stranger, when your eyes fall on him. A tall and handsome man sitting at the bus stop. He has headphones in and is reading a book. You note his great sense of fashion, he is wearing a deep greet turtleneck with a houndstooth coat and dark wash jeans. He has hair hangs in his face a little bit, but you can still see that he is extremely attractive.
You feel the bus coming to a stop and your window stops right in front of him. He looks up and makes eye contact with you. He gives a small smile and a nod and continues to stare at you. Your stomach fills with butterflies and your knees feel weak. You give him a wave with a slight smile. He gives a small laugh, goodness, you would pay to hear that laugh. But it doesn’t seem that he is necessarily getting on at this stop. You decide to do something a little risky.
You open your window.
He looks at you and you both take out one of your ear buds.
‘Is this your bus?” You ask him with a nervous smile.
“It can be.” He replies with a raised eyebrow and a grin. He then walks away from the pole he was leaning against and gets on the bus. As he walks towards your seat you begin to feel your heartbeat faster. You put your things away in your bag and make room on the seat next to you. He sits down next to you and you can smell his cologne. He turns to you and holds out his hand.
“Hi, I’m Kim Seokjin, but you can just call me Jin.” He states.
“Hello, I’m ____. Very nice to meet you.” You blush as you shake his hand. It’s very warm and it lights your soul. This isn’t some made up story in your head. This is real. This is happening.
“So where are we headed?” He asks with a small chuckle.
“We are going to a book store actually, then maybe dinner?” You say with a small question mark at the end.
Wow, where is this confidence is suddenly coming from? you ask yourself.
“Sounds great.” He says as he continues to look at you with a smile. You both continue to make conversation. You learn that he runs a publishing company, and he was actually just heading to a book store himself. It was almost like it was fate. You loved the way he laughed, while others may find it weird, you found it cute.
When you both reached the stop you continued on to the bookstore.
You show him your favorite novel, and he shows you a poetry book. You guys could’ve spent hours in that store, getting to know each other and talking about books and stories. He had so many cute little quirks, like when he got really passionate about something he talked quicker. Eventually you guys check out and he surprises you by paying for your books. You thank him and you let him pick the place to eat.
He picked a restaurant that served naengmyeon. You guys eat and talk. You can’t stop smiling. He really is a dream. You have to pinch yourself to tell your self this is real.
“Are you ok?” He asks afterwards.
“Yeah, of course. I just am convincing myself that all of this is real.” You say with a small laugh.
“Do you often find yourself imagining things?” He said poking fun at you. You laugh.
“Well no and yes. I don’t hallucinate or anything, but I do often enjoy creating scenarios in my head. My mom has always told me that my overactive imagination would be bad for me and one day I would begin to believe my stories are real. I guess all of this seems too good to be true… You seem too good to be true.” You say while fiddling with your hands. He rests his hands on yours and you look up at him.
“I can promise you I am as real as it gets.” He says with a comforting smile. You smile back to him and hold his hand. Hoping that this lasts forever.
~ time jump - 5 years later ~
You stand on the podium looking out to the sea of people staring back at you. You begin to read the pages from your book.
“Soft love songs play in her headphones while she lazily daydreams out of the window. She quietly envies the people that pass by. She longed for a life with interest. She longed to shed her tedious job at the cafe. She longed to have romance in her life.
As if she spoke it into the universe her eyes landed on the most handsome man she had ever seen. A man that radiated the confidence she had longed for. While the bus comes to a stop their eyes meet. They can feel the chemistry grow as they continue to stare at each other. Almost as if she had absorbed some of him through this limited contact, she opens the window.
‘Is this your bus?’ She asks with a nervous smile and a tight chest. He looks up at her with a smirk.
‘It can be.’ He replies before getting onto the bus.” You close the book while the crowd claps.
“I want to thank you all for supporting me. This is my third book, and I have been thankful everyday that you guys have enjoyed my stories. They have always been my comfort, my escape from a dull life. Although you may not know, that my most recent novel isn’t just a story. It’s something that happened to me. This novel was inspired by the meeting of my very own partner and publisher, Kim Seokjin.” You say while holding your arm out to the back corner of your room. You make eye contact with your husband, Jin. He smiles and gives small bows as people turn to look at him and clap.
“Of course there are differences, but I had to write a story about how we met. My life changed from dull to exciting the day our eyes connected on that bus. His company was small, and I was an unknown writer, but people were, thankfully, drawn to my novel. I wouldn’t have had the strength to finish that story without him. He has kept me going for so long, and I owe everything I have to him. I love you my darling.” You say with tears welling in your eyes.
He gives you a heartfelt nod and mouths an ‘I Love You’ back. You continue to talk about your book. You take some questions and sometimes making eye contact with Jin and feeling a burst of warmth shoot through your veins.
After the book reading, you were talking one on one with your fans. You feel a hand snake around your waist and look up to see your beautiful husband.
“Excuse me, I don’t mean to interrupt your conversation, but we have a very important meeting to get to.” Your husband says as you both take your leave.
You sit in the car as he drives. You stare at him as you hear a familiar song by Suran play. He rests a hand on your leg facing up, a request for you to hold his hand. You accept of course.
You guys pull up to the very same noodle place you had come to the night you had met. You enjoy a nice bowl of naengmyeon with your husband as you both talk about the current books you are reading. You will always thank fate for that day you had two met at the bus. You will always thank the universe for giving you the courage to open your window and talk to him. You will always thank Kim Seokjin for getting on that bus and never leaving your side since.
“Happy anniversary baby 💕”

Washed Up - Chapter 1
Pairing: Kim Taehyung x Reader; Angsty Series
Summary: you retired from your successful acting career after a dating scandal and breaking your lover's heart. Years have passed and you are considering going back, but you would be working with your ex, Kim Taehyung.
Taehyung harbors a lot of anger and resentment towards and isn't going to make your time on set easy.
You have your work cut out for you, but will you be able to persist without falling into old habits? Will you be reminded why you quit in the first place?
Author's Note: This is a fic that I've been working on and posting on my AO3 account. I write when I have time at work mostly, so I may be slow to post chapters on this.
Warnings: mentions of alcoholism, swearing, angst.
next chapter
“No, no thanks. Not interested.” you say to your ex-manager, Rina, as you both walk through the store.
“____, it’s a really good deal. And they WANT you!” said Rina, she was also your close friend, which is why you still talk even after you retired from the business.
“And I said I’m not interested. I’ve given that shit up. I don’t want to have this conversation again.” You say, only half paying attention, mostly looking at which meat you’d like to eat with your jjigae.
“But I haven’t told you the best part!” Rina says. You roll your eyes. She’s never respected that you’ve seen what fame can make a person into, and that you don’t care to be that way anymore. You no longer care about the money and glory that comes with it. It can cost you your sanity and some close relationships, and you would never fall into that trap again. “Up and coming star, V is going to be in it!” she adds.
“I think you know that I don’t know who that is. I don’t watch tv anymore. ” You say while throwing some pork belly into your cart. She nudges your arm in a playful way.
“He was pretty small actor at the time, but he worked with you on Extraordinary Teacher, but I think he was just a background character though.” She says but it rings no bells in your memory as you continue through the store looking for tofu.
“Yeah, I don’t remember a V. and what kind of a name is that? V, seems like a shitty name, that can’t be his real name.” You say, finally reaching the tofu you want.
You start reaching for the tofu when Rina says while “No, you’re right. That’s not his real name, and actually I think he only started going by V in the past couple years. His real name is Kim Taehyung.”
When she says his name, it makes you drop the food in your hand. No, you must have heard her wrong. That can’t have been right.
“Wha-what did you just say?” you stutter through. She puts back the produce she was inspecting to briefly put a hand on your shoulder.
“Kim Taehyung?” she says, her face filled with concern.
There was that name again. That name took you back 4 years ago. To all the love, and to all the pain that took everything from you. You are fully stopped in your tracks, too stunned to walk, to speak, to even think clearly.
You’re unaware of how much time has passed before Rina goes “Hello? ____? Did I lose you? Hello?”
“Y-yeah. I’m-I’m fine. I’m fine.” You reply. Still feeling a bit shaken, like the ground under your feet has been ripped from underneath you.
“Are you okay? Do you know him?” Rina asks.
“Yeah, you know him too. Remember the dating scandal I was in? Right before I left the industry?” You say, whispering, not wanting to bring up too many old memories.
“When you were dating that… that extra on Extraordinary Teacher…” Realization spreading across her face “No, that wasn’t him. It can’t have been. He didn’t even have a proper agent back then!” Rina yells, quickly covering her own mouth when people start looking at us.
“Well, it was. And if you remember, it ended badly. Me ‘denying anything ever happened between us and then drinking myself into a depression’ badly.” I spit, angry with myself for all the decisions I made all those years ago. You hated to think of how you acted back then. You were awful and greedy. You were drunk so often you couldn’t remember my lines, you hardly slept, nobody wanted to work with you anymore. And then you decided that you no longer wanted that spotlight and all the criticism that came with it.
You had to fight back the tears that were fighting their way through, your throat felt on fire just thinking about everything from back then. You’re finally pulled out of it when Rina puts a hand on your back, comforting you.
“____, that was so long ago. Don’t you think It’s time to try to move on from that pain? It doesn’t have to be with this project, but you used to love acting. And you were very good at it, the best at it some would, and have, said.” She was right. You were good, really good. But could you really move on?
“Would they even want me back? I burned a lot of bridges back then. I did things that aren’t so easily forgotten.” You whisper again, not wanting to show your insecurity to the people around you. Not like they were really paying attention to you at all. It had been so many years since you acted that you tend to just fade into the background.
“Oh, I remember, I’m the one who had to put out a lot of those fires. Like when you vomited in the directors’ wife’s purse.” She says giving you another small nudge. You laugh at the memory.
“To be fair, she was a bitch before I developed a drinking problem, and she shouldn’t have yelled at that extra. She deserved it.” Rina laughs loudly at your excuse. You grab the tofu you dropped and start walking again.
“She did suck to work with. But you’ve been out of the game for too long, He’s been married and divorced 3 times since her!” Rina adds, following behind you.
“It was only 6 years ago! How is that possible?” You exclaim, slack jawed.
“He was scum then and he’s scum now. They’re only getting younger too. I’m sure his next wife will be somebody who won’t even know any of his work.”
“Oh no, then how will she blow smoke up his ass? Or will she just have to pretend, like all the rest of us have had to.” You both giggle. Then there is silence.
While there were definitely hard times at the end, and that’s probably an understatement, you did once love what you did. Getting to tell stories and make people cry when you cried, people laugh when you made a joke, making people feel better when you succeeded. You’d be lying if you said you didn't miss it.
"Can I have some time to think about it?" You ask, there was a lot to consider before jumping into it. Last time you acted, it failed, badly. So, you had to weigh all the options before you dive back into this career.
"Of course, and it doesn't have to be this role either, if you don't want to work with V, then we can find another role. But I have a feeling there's something about this one you're really going to like." You stare at her while she wiggled her eyebrows suggestively. You roll your eyes and walk to the check out.
Were you really going to do this? Could you do this? After everything, did you still have it in you? Not just the acting, but seeing all of the people you had embarrassed yourself in front of. And, worst of all, the people you had hurt.
Days had passed and the thought was still on your mind. While you knew it was going to be hard to move on from the past, and people were likely not going to accept you right away, there was something that you couldn’t shake. It’s like the idea of accepting the role lit some sort of fire inside of you. A fire that couldn’t be doused.
Before you could talk yourself out of it again you dialed Rina’s number. It rang for only a second before she picked up.
“Hey, what’s up?” she asked absentmindedly.
“I’m going to try to do my best, and I can’t make any promises that I’ll be as good as I once was, but I’m willing to try.” You say, your voice shaking.

Best Friend’s Brother
Pairing: Jung Hoseok x Reader; Angsty Fluff
Summary: You've always had a crush on Hobi, but your best friend is his little sister, so nothing could ever happen between the two of you...right?
Author's Note: I mentioned this on my last post, but this is all old writing from when I had an instagram account for these, which is why they're all pretty short too.
Warnings: brief mentions of alcohol, some swearing, some fighting.
You sit on your best friends couch with the both of your legs intertwined. You both were working on your Organic Chemistry homework. You both had an eight page essay on Stereochemistry due in four hours. Your best friend played music as you both sat there typing. Suddenly her roommate walks in.
Eunho comes from a family with money so they pay for her apartment, but their rule was her older brother, Hoseok, had to live with her. They got along well, but lately they had been fighting, she didn’t tell you why, and you weren’t one to stick your nose into personal matters.
You wave and smile at Hoseok but he looks at you, gives you a small nod, and continues to walk into his room. You knew you should try to focus on your homework anyways, but you couldn’t get your mind off of how he brushed you off. Normally he would stop, give you a large smile, and talk to you for a while. You had a little bit of a crush on him, but because you were Eunho’s best friend, you pushed them down. Deep deep down.
After the two of you had finished your homework and finally submitted it, you both stretch.
“I’m kind of hungry, what about you?” Eunho asks while yawning.
“Same, but I’m really just craving a beer” you say while cracking your knuckles.
“We could always just go pick up some and get some fried chicken on the way back.” She offers while she stretches her back.
“Sold.” You say while smiling. You guys were alway on the same wavelength. You guys had been best friends for years, you guys became friends when you kicked a boy in the crotch for taking photos up her skirt when you guys were 16 and you guys have been best friends ever since.
You both collect your coats, but you notice that she doesn’t ask Hobi, which was unusual for her.
“Should we ask your brother?” You hint, not wanting to push her buttons, but to at least try. She shrugs.
“I don’t want to. He can starve for all I care.” she says in a joking tone, but there seems to be a level of seriousness under it all.
You shake your head and walk to his door and give it a light knock. No answer. You try one more time. No answer. ‘Do I open it? I would hate for us to get food and him to be upset we didn’t include him...’ you continue and open his door. When you walk in you see him with his headphones one working on music. You smile and lean up against the door frame. He looks so cute there, working on his music, his head bobbing and his foot tapping. Your attention is snapped away when he turns around. He has a very confused look on his face when he sees you.
“Oh, hey Y/N, what up?” He asks while sliding his headphones to sit on his shoulder. You blush, realizing how weird you must’ve seemed to him.
“Oh, um, so Eunho and I were going to go pick up beer and fried chicken, and I was just wondering if you wanted some.”
“Sure, thank you for offering.” He said with a big smile on his face. You blush harder. He had this vibe around him that would just melt your heart. He was so cute. You give a small nod and you close the door.
Around 45 minutes later you and Eunho return with food. You go and let Hobi know while your friend sets it up on the table. This time when you knock, you get a response.
“Come in.” He calls out. You open the door, he’s still sitting in front of his computer working on his song.
“I just wanted to let you know that the food is here and ready.” “Ok I’ll be right there.” He says while giving you a small smile. You were about to turn around but then you stop yourself. Before you can stop yourself you talk.
“I don’t mean to pry, but I was wondering-“ He turns back to you, you feel a knot in your stomach when you make eye contact with him. “I was just wondering what the music you make sounds like.” He gives out a cute chuckle that makes your knees weak.
“Do you want to listen to it?” He asks while taking his headphones off and gesturing for you to put them on. You slip them on and he presses play. You close your eyes to fully take in the music. It all starts with a fun beat that gets you to bob your head. You are surprised when he starts to sing. His vocals coat your eardrums and it makes you smile. You can’t help but imagine what he looked like while recording this. His singing turns into rapping and you subconsciously bite your lip. You continue to enjoy the music but it’s cut short to a hand touching your face. When you open your eyes you are surprised to Hoseok’s lips on yours.
You fall into the kiss, wrapping your arms around his neck and his hands falling on your waist.
You guys are quickly interrupted when you hear your best friend, his sister, Eunho.
“You have to be fucking kidding me right now.” She scoffs while standing in the door frame. “I thought I had told you I wasn’t comfortable with you dating my best friend. Now here you are practically forcing yourself on her.” She turns around and walks out. That must have been what they had been fighting about. You follow after her, because as much as you like Hobi, your friendship matters more.
“Eunnie!” You yell out to her, but she continues to her room. She furiously sits on her bed, stewing. You sit next to her. You rest your hand on her back. “Eunnie… I think you know that he wasn’t forcing himself on me. I think you know that I’ve liked him for awhile. It also seems that you know he liked me too.” You give her an eyebrow raise.
“I was scared that if you started dating him, you’d stop being my friend. I just figured that if I didn’t intervene, nothing would happen and I wouldn’t have to share you.” Eunho states while sheepishly looking at you. You smile at her lovingly. On one hand you understood where she was coming from, but not the other, you were upset that she didn’t realize that you can love them both and can give both of them attention without neglecting the other.
“I would never leave you behind, you mean too much to me. If you want we can forget about what just happened. I’ll never look at Hobi again if it makes you uncomfortable.” You volunteer, hoping that she turns it down. She cocks her head sideways and gives a small laugh while shaking her head.
“That’s ridiculous, everything is out there now. I’m not going to ask you take back your feelings. But the fact that you offered means a lot to me. Do you promise that you won’t stop being my friend because of him? Even if things don’t work out with you guys? Because if that happens I am so willing to cut him out of my life for you.” She says with a large smirk on her face, looking at the door frame. To your surprise Hobi had been standing there the whole time.
“I can’t believe that I'm so expendable to the both of you.” He says jokingly. All of you laugh, you all continue downstairs to the fried chicken which is probably cold by now. You enjoy your dinner with your two favorite people.
You can’t help but think about how lucky you must be to love and be loved by the two of them.

Jealousy, Jealousy
Pairing: Min Yoongi x Reader; Angsty Fluff
Summary: You and Yoongi are going through a rough patch in your relationship while you guys decide to go out with your friends.
Author's Note: This is actually an old posting from an old instagram account I used to post stories from. I just figured I'd post them on here as I'm getting back into writing again. I wrote these like 3 years ago now and I was usually drunk when I did it (it was during the pandemic, so I was always at least tipsy, sorry about it lol.)
Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that my writing is not always great in these but I still like the stories anyways. I hope ya'll like it, I'm working on a longer fic rn, and trying to get my old work posted on my AO3 account as well.
Warnings: Alcohol mentioned, some fighting, drunk rando non-consensual dancing, implied sex (sorry I didn't really write smut back then. Still don't really.)
You release the last curl in your hair before finishing it with hairspray. You normally wouldn’t go through the trouble of doing your hair this well for the club, but with Min Yoongi as your boyfriend, you knew you weren’t going to dance much. You throw on your heels before leaving the room, you see Yoongi sitting on the couch. He looks up from his phone, you give him a twirl, he just looks at you with confusion.
“Why did you do your hair?” He asks with a scrunched up face.
“Is it a crime for me to curl my hair? Will the world end because I used hair spray?” You ask rhetorically, already annoyed that he’s picking a fight. Yoongi just sighed and grabbed the keys. You follow him out the door and into the car. You both sit there, listening to the radio. You want to say something, you really don’t want to be fighting all night, then you really won’t get to have any fun tonight.
“Listen baby.” You say while grabbing his thigh. “I just wanted to dress up for once, and when your first reaction was to ask me why I had dressed up instead of saying something nice, I got upset. I should’ve stayed calm. I’m sorry.”
Then he grunted a hmph in response. You just apologized for something that was barely your fault, and he can’t even give a response that’s more than a noise? You take your hand off of his thigh and cross your arms. You guys begin to park for the club, when you walk out you immediately see your friends, Yeona, and Seokjin. You run up to them, hugging them both.
“Y/N! Are you ready to party?” Yeona yells excitedly. Being around her cheery self immediately brings your mood up. You laugh in response and you guys continue to chat, Yoongi being quiet this whole time.
You guys finally get into the club and when the music hits your ears you can’t help but sway to it, even if you aren’t on the dance floor yet. You guys find a table and you grab Yoongi’s hand, still wanting to reconcile to have an enjoyable night, he holds your hand back rubbing the back of it. This was as much as you were probably going to get out of him, but that was okay, because at least this meant he might dance a little bit and maybe you to could, you know, make up at home later. Seokjin makes it to the table holding drinks, he hands one to you.
“I got you a vodka cranberry!” He yells over the loud music while sliding into the booth next to you. Yeona follows him setting a beer in front of Yoongi and sipping her own drink while she sits next to Seokjin. They would make such a cute couple if only one of them would back up and make the first move.
“Thank you! It’s my favorite!” You yell trying to lean closer to his ear. You feel Yoongi jerk his hand out of yours. You turn to him and he’s drinking his beer and looking away from you.
“Why are you acting like this” you say into his ear.
“Act like what?” He asks with an attitude. You scoff, he knows what he’s doing.
“Whatever I’m going to go dance.” You chug your drink and you, Yeona, and Seokjin decide to go dance. You close your eyes and try to not think about how angry you are. Yeona and Seokjin drift farther away from you, but you don’t really notice, you were too distracted by the music. You came to the club so that you could dance and have fun with your friends and Yoongi was ruining it. You loved him with all of your heart, but moments like this made you want to walk away. You understood he isn’t always great at communication, but it was still frustrating. Your thoughts are interrupted by somebody dancing behind you. When you realize it’s some random guy, you stop dancing to tell him to back off, but you feel a strong hand grab onto your arm. You look up to see Yoongi, he pushes the guy away from you and drags you to the public restroom.
“What the fuck Y/N?” He yells at you while locking the door.
“What do you mean? I was just about to tell him off! I didn’t do anything wrong.” You yell back. You can’t believe this, he really did just want to fight with you tonight. It doesn’t matter if you did something wrong or not, he would find a reason to be mad or blame it on you.
“You were just asking for attention from other guys tonight. Look at your hair and especially that dress.” He continues to scream while gesturing at the red, formfitting dress you were wearing. You feel fire fill your throat and your eyes begin to water.
“What I wear has nothing to do with impressing random men at a club and everything to do with wanting to look pretty to myself, dickhead. Also if there was any guy I wanted to impress it was you, but you’ve been acting like a jerk all night. You could’ve at least given me a compliment when I came downstairs, but no, you just made assumptions about my fucking hair.” You scoff, knowing your eyes have tears in them and doing your best to continue to look cool and also wipe your face. His look softens at the sight of you crying, realizing that he was being a dickhead. Not just for not believing in you, but also for not standing up for you.
“I’m sorry. I just feel like you dressed up because you wanted to impress Seokjin. I got jealous thinking you were trying to impress him.” Yoongi says, you appreciate him finally apologizing for his behavior, but you were still mad. You were mad that he even thought you would cheat on him, he was your whole world. You were also mad that he couldn’t communicate his insecurities to you. But somehow all of this melted away when he grabbed your arms and gave you a hug. You stood there, originally stiff but slowly melting into the hug. He adds “I really am sorry that I don’t always communicate with you, I will work on it.”
You smile, you pull him from you, he looks sad for a second. You lean in and kiss him. You can feel him smiling as he deepens the kiss. You wrap your arms around his neck as he wraps his arms around your waist. He grabs your bottom and grabs your *CENSORED CENSORED CENSORED*
You walk out of the bathroom, the line of people waiting scowling at the two of you, but you don’t care. The two of you walk back to the booth to see Yeona and Seokjin making out, like really going for it. The two of you decide to order another drink.
While you sip your drink you dance provocatively on Yoongi. Hoping that once you guys get home you can repeat what happened in the bathroom. Yoongi leans in and whispers into your ear “I just want to say you look fantastic. I especially love your hair.” You laugh while turning around to wrap your arms around him again. The two of you continue to dance with your foreheads touching.
I guess your hair did get ruined by the end of the night. Amongst other things.
