Luffy's type is tall muscular edgy swordsmen with epithets about death, golden earrings on one side, marks on their chest, heads that look like plants, who like cute animals and always talk to one whom they treat as a son or smth, rarely smile but if they do run, consider one for the (former) 7 warlords a lifelong enemy of theirs, are hated by Sanji, almost had a limb cut off, are dumbasses despite everything, little shits, little spoons, don't believe in god, have a dead sister, love onigiri, and have great tits.

I've never really liked Ace being overprotective of Luffy as a trope in fanfic? Ofc people can write what they want, and I don't mind Sabo being mildly protective or concerned at all because I think it works well for his character, but I think Ace would hear about Luffy being interested in someone and immediately respond with "Don't listen to Sabo, go get em" and tease Luffy relentlessly about his relationship. Ace and Luffy's dynamic has always been one of enabling each other's shenanigans and I definitely think that would extend to their love lives.
