Hello, as we head in an unprecedented third Tory leadership crisis in the UK (lol), could you pretty please do a round-up of likely candidates? Oooh or even a round-up of candidates if it goes to general election - I know it's so unlikely but a gals gotta dream!
I've started compiling sources for a Rishi Sunak masterpost, because it's definitely going to be him (assuming I get round to it - you're all at the whims of my ADHD-riddled hyperfixating bowl of sweets that I call a brain, soz about that.) But, what's happening this week (I am writing this on Monday the 24th October) is basically Tory Leadership: Speedrun Edition.
Last time it took several months after it was narrowed to the top two. This time, they'll have it done by Friday and then maybe we'll know if fracking is back on the table or not lol.
So it's Rishi Sunak vs Penny Mordaunt. To spare me wasting too many more of my worthless man-hours, I will super-briefly summarise them:
Rishi Sunak
It's going to be him. He was Big Dog's Chancellor and conspicuously absent from Partygate photos, except for Boris' surprise birthday party; almost like, if one were of a suspicious mindset, he had a long term plan to keep his nose clean.
He is, and I want you to think about all the competition he has for this accolade and then really think about what it means, possibly the single most financially corrupt Tory in the party's history.
The amount of money he openly and blatantly stole and gave to his family and friends during the pandemic is well into the billions. The billions. He is part of the reason the UK was hit so very badly by covid - between him, Boris, Dominic Cummings and Matt Hancock, we had no chance. Rishi took BILLIONS of pounds for covid and gave the contracts to the companies of family and friends, who pocketed the vast majority and then utterly failed to deliver any covid relief resources back. He is literally a billionaire, to my knowledge. He also paid to bail out his wife after she broke some law or other and bankrupted a company (I cannot remember the details of that one offhand mind, so don't quote me there - it'll be in the full post if I write it.)
This man is a hateful gargoyle.
Penny Mordaunt
Possibly the best option, although admittedly that's like saying "Out of all the turds in the turd collection this one is the least offensive in smell."
She's hyper nationalistic to a horrifying and gross degree. However, she isn't a transphobe (or at the very least she is openly Fine With Trans People, which is what we ask for.) This actually makes her enormously unusual for a Tory. In the last leadership round, the main talking points every candidate had to address were
Did they support Boris Johnson
What will they do about the economy
What will they do about the energy crisis
How much do they hate trans people
It's probably the thing that cost her the vote last time, in fact.
She won't get it.
However, if she somehow does, that gives the Tories a very small chance of subsequently winning another GE. Rishi, on the other hand, is a hated man, by both the party and the public. The chance of him reforming them enough to win a GE against Starmer is slim to none (if he even stays in post that long). So, ultimately, if Penny gets it it's better in the short term; if Rishi gets it, it's better in the medium to long term, depending on when the next GE comes.

a collection of my personal spin/au on grimmchild and ghost they're all also super old drawings but maybe one day i'll go back and revisit this? 🤔 i don't know if people wanna read my rambling thoughts about this, so under the cut it goes 😂
in terms of which ending this is based off of, i think it's safe to say it's after godmaster (although, specifically, the delicate flower route) 🙂 THOUGH if we want to make things interesting, it could technically be BEFORE the godmaster events too! i like to think that after the events of the delicate flower route, ghost (or shade lord) lowkey misses travelling and little grimm jr? grimmothy?? so they just. come back in their vessel again and takes grimm jr under their wing again and travel the world once more. a comment on grimmothy's little flower ribbon; i imagined ghost going to hornet and requesting if she could make a little ribbon with the delicate flower for grimmothy and thus, came forth this drawing. so it's also p safe to say it was hornet tying on that little thing.
Tumblr media
so the chronological order of the events taking place could possibly go like this: ghost completes the troupe's ritual and takes grimm jr under their wing → they accept the grey mourner's request → at some point after making some flower deliveries, ghost goes, "why not one for grimm jr?" and hence goes to hornet to request for an accessory → the entirety of godmaster → aforementioned ghost's yearning → searching and meeting up with hornet and grimm jr and thk → takes grimmothy under their wing again → they exchange their pleasantries and whatever plans with each other and eventually go their separate ways → potential time skip where the duo have basically seen some growth and have developed a mentor(or guardian/caretaker)/student relationship it's all really loosely based off of how my own personal playthrough went so that's roughly how i like to think what happened. to be completely honest, i didn't put too much thought into the exact details so it's all quite messy and rough around the edges.
also sorry for the long babble, i'm bad with words and explaining and my thoughts are going all over the place so that's all i'll have to say for now

In Puritianverse, Omegas do have an easier time giving birth vs. Betas. Still, complications can arise like in any labor…especially if the Omega is on the smaller side, like Daniel. So when his Omega gets with child, Terry is very excited and proud (of them both—himself for having such a strong seed, and Danny for being so fertile.) Daniel is very happy too, and is increasingly excited (though fatigued) as the pregnancy goes on. But when Daniel is heavily pregnant, Terry feels a sense of unease and nervousness. After all, Daniel is very young, and he’s tiny. Terry’s little mate doesn’t seem to understand what could go wrong, and he innocently says that the Lord and his Alpha will make sure nothing happens! Plus, his little Omega is very pleased at how protective Terry’s gotten of him as of late, especially all the extra snuggles and cuddles he’s been getting. And all the nice, slow sex too, though Daniel falls asleep halfway through it, nowadays. But there is only so much Terry can do for him once the labor actually begins, let alone God. And the day of the birth, Terry drives all the hospital staff insane with his anxiousness. The typical terrified Alpha—the only time they get scared.
Terry hires the best doctors - he has a new maternity wing built and Daniel gets the entire floor.
Also, maybe Daniel has to have a c-section - which was planned before time as they knew well in advance - that’s a possibility. An interesting concept.
The birth, although easier than a beta, was more than Daniel was excepting. It was the only part about being blessed by his alpha he’s not overly enthused about - in terms of having to go through it again when his alpha places another blessing inside him. But with Sam in his arms, making contented noises as she nurses quietly at his chest - he’ll gladly do it again.
Besides, he does love the process of getting heavy with child and he did take to pregnancy exceptionally well. Some sickness at the beginning, and he needed to nap more but other than that, he loved the experience and can’t wait to do it again. Even though his lovely daughter is in his arms, he feels strangely empty - wrong almost.
His Ma and Mr. Miyagi have come by for visits - Dankle proudly showing off their creation - and Terry hasn’t left his side the entire time.
It’s after the baby arrives though - that Terry has been preparing for although in entirely different ways than Daniel.
Mostly SFW but long
An entire staff has already been hired just for help with the baby - Nannies for both the day and night to lighten the load on his little omega and to make sure he is supported, so he can rest and heal - anything to ensure Daniel and their daughter thrive.
Terry also insisted on having a nurse there when they got home - for his own piece of mind in regards to his mate’s health and healing. He’s taking no chances.
He also hired some of the best lactation consultants to help the process along, and they’d already been working with Daniel to help induce his milk before the baby arrived which helped tremendously with his first feeding after Sam was born. They will be there, as well, to ensure Daniel has an easy time when he has to start nursing their pup regularly at home. He wants his little omega to be nothing but successful in his new role.
Daniel had first thought it was an affront to his ability to care for their pups and had taken great offence when Terry had told him, actually yelling at his Alpha in anger - the first time he had done so. But then, realizing what he was doing, promptly burst into tears at his behaviour. Knowing how seriously Daniel took his role as omega and mate, Terry had tried not to laugh at his irrational outburst, gathering the little omega in his arms to calm him - and eventually, along with Father O’Brien’s help, he came to understand that it wasn’t any kind of commentary on his ability as an omega. “If I didn’t trust you to care for my pups, I wouldn’t have put one inside you … I wouldn’t already be thinking about the ones I’m going to put inside you.” Father O’Brien gently reminding him that a good omega accepts that their alpha knows what is best for them and their family. So he accepted the help and has already been grateful for one of them being their at the hospital to help when Sam first needed to feed.
Terry too is a very hands on alpha - helping massage his full chest before feeding - cradling Daniel - his omega’s back against his chest while he pumps. He likes to help Daniel feed the baby in the same position - his arms wrapped around them holding her up - guiding her to Daniel’s nipple.
In the middle of the night when Daniel wakes - shirt soaked through from leaking, he helps clean the sleepy little omega in the shower. Terry knows he dislikes the feeling if he doesn’t clean himself up.
Terry feeds their pup too - Daniel pumps through the day when Terry can’t help with the excess. Also, the alpha can’t have it all as they need supplies for the nurses at night - as Terry insists Daniel try to get his rest then, and Terry discovers that he likes to feeds her himself.
During the day, if they go out, he tries to get Daniel used to feeding her - something he expressed reservations about - a shyness.
Terry tells his mate it’s only natural and when their daughter is hungry, she’s hungry and must be fed regardless of where they are. Something he is insistent on. And Daniel, well, he’s never one to disobey his alpha and wants nothing more than be a good husband and the best omega possible to his daughter.
Plus - when they get the approval from the doctor, Terry already sets about giving Sam a brother or a sister ….
Daniel is producing so much, it would be shame not to have another mouth for him to feed.
He took so well to the pregnancy and birth as well - he really was made for it.
Not that his little omega is putting up any sort of protest. His hormones are all over the place, making him quite eager for the idea of being fucked full again.
Irish twins definitely happen ….
Imagining a scenario, as well, where Terry knocks him up before their marriage - maybe he convinced Daniel that as they were to be married it was okay for him to touch him there and that nothing would happen as pups only come about when an omega is married and mated.
But Daniel gives birth shortly after their official union - Terry Could have sped up the marriage no problem but he wanted Daniel showing - and of course, a month after Sam comes into the world - Daniel finds he’s with child again.
Two blessings in such a short time.
Two babies within the first year of marriage - tongues wag about whether Daniel does anything except spend all his time with his legs spread for his alpha.
It seems all Terry has to do is look at his little omega or think about impregnating him and he’s suddenly with child.
Doesn’t help that the next breeding after Robby, their second, is born that results in twins.

chapter 1064—we got ourselves a name
Got ourselves a snow goose!
Tumblr media
Oda running with the marine life theme so many of us have exploited for our fics and head canons, and it feels so damn good.
Tumblr media
Alan D. Wilson, CC 表示-継承 2.5, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=5175665による
It's cold up north. Cold, cold, cold, cold. So, not only can Law do this:
Tumblr media
(cut Stronger in half using Amputate, thereby dislodging Blackbeard and Doc)
to Blackbeard's under-prepared crew on their only slightly upgraded raft boat, Law's crew (namely Shachi)
Tumblr media
can do
Tumblr media
this! Blowing poison apple bombs right back at Doc. I guess that's the equivalent of an Orca's blowhole.
Tumblr media
And, I guess that maybe Oda got tired of the power scalers too. Like, Law's got his high bounty for a reason and it's nice for Oda to show
his crew in action.
Tumblr media
Captain. Must protec!
Tumblr media
(though surely Jean Bart would be a very easy target). So, Law does pull out what was his awakened power (it wasn't Amputate, Teach), and Blackbeard gets pierced (and shocked)
Tumblr media
with Shock Wille, causing Van Augur to chastise him
Tumblr media
and to cause him to use his Law-like powers to rescue Blackbeard. (Blackbeard's downfall will be his carelessness, even though he's obviously doing okay. Master planner up against master impulsive?).
Also, the effects of Shock Wille look a little like directions of some of Doflamingo's attacks.
Van Augur thinks they're under-prepared enough to ask:
Tumblr media
if they should return to the ship, and he elegantly uses his passengers to make his own journey more comfortable too, it looks like. Also, so long as he doesn't fall in the water, he's a good match for Law in terms of being able to find solid ground (with his warp warp fruit).
So, I didn't know Blackbeard had such dedication (we finish what we start! But his crew doesn't have the same conviction). Also, like Big Mom, Blackbeard's going to be a villain that Oda will have fun making look ridiculous (then again, there was that Kaidou skipping rope thing).
Tumblr media
I'm guessing that "Blackbeard's here!" is Bepo or someone else from his crew. Law's getting his Room ready already. He's tactical. BUT, like Blackbeard, maybe a little too much hubris. Law's pulling his Lenin face again.
Tumblr media
Law's crew really is the wrong one to deal with on the ocean, huh? Makes sense. And there were a few meta last week that said that sinking all the devil fruit users wold be the way to go, and what a perfect plan it would be except for
Tumblr media
it doesn't seem that Law knows about Blackbeard's power (which seems unlike Law), or he doesn't know how it works. (As an aside, did he take Boa's power, or did Rayleigh step in just in time?). Or he's just, really, really, worried, cos his big willy just ain't gonna cut it if Blackbeard gets his power or absorbs Law himself. Ahhh. **(Law's powers that spread shock waves and threads and radiation might be able to counter something?)
Tumblr media
And back a few frames—Pudding's on board and just as she doesn't seem to realise about Law and Kid bringing about Big Mom's death (although she said "if" she's alive), Law doesn't seem to know about Black Vortex (Black Gravity?), and Blackbeard doesn't seem to know even the most basic of Law's powers (although, maybe he does and that's why he's got all those devil fruit users (and Pudding) on the boat currently under attack from the Hearts. Devil Fruits are Teach's speciality, after all).
And
Tumblr media
cover page. Kuzan confirmed! Ah, I don't think he's part of SWORD, cos then Punk Hazard probably wouldn't have happened. I read such a good OC/Law story back in the day (2016/17?) on FFN that had Kuzan undercover in the Blackbeard Pirates, and I don't read OC fics much. Loved it. So, Sanji will have to come, because two of his loves will probably end up captured (Pudding already is, but Law, too).
Tumblr media
What do you make of Akainu's words? I can't find mention of Winner Island in the Wiki, but I didn't search too thoroughly. I don't think Law's SWORD either, but might be (the theory's gone out there). Could they be waiting for that? Or Akainu wanted to sweep in on Kuzan? (Guess I should call Akainu, Sakazuki). But there'd be no reason to wait then. Anyhoo, other exciting development is this from the end:
Tumblr media
Vegapunk working with the Revolutionaries. Kuma's backstory (and Bonney's and Vegapunk's and Dragon's get more and more entwined and intriguing). Also!
Tumblr media
stuff like this (Punk Records...or Vegapunk...or why is the first part hidden?) makes me thing that Kid will definitely be relevant some time soon.
Tumblr media
I just love that Oda is utilising all of his SBS drawings and inventing a few more
Tumblr media
(70 year old Luffy—A glimpse at a possible future!). And the other kids
Tumblr media
are alright (@lorillee said that Oda's going boob-crazy cos he had to flatten them for all of Wano in the traditional kimonos, however, I will say, he's not gone as OTT on them as he has in the past. And, yeah, Franky's got on more clothes than Robin.
The pervevication (made up word) really isn't equal for folks that randomly say it is. Put Sanji, Usopp (and later Zoro, Luffy, etc.) in jockey briefs and the equivalent to what Robin and Nami are wearing and then you might have something.
Tumblr media
The other two kids are watching the ship and will rescue someone when the menace becomes apparent (more apparent) later in the arc.
Loved the chapter.

Capricorns are so Aquarius ♒
So, I did a reading for Capricorn and Aquarius and Saturn both came out which I love because in derivative astrology, Capricorns place value in Aquarian things. We know that Aquarius is independence and freedom with minimal limitations. If you're curious to the message I got:
📰Capricorns are on a mission to have freedom in an aspect of their life, but they are facing some challenges with certain goals. They're not as free as they truly want to be or things just aren't going according to their plan, but they are protected. If you guys are facing any irritation behind things not going as fast or exact as you want, know it's for your own good and that it's better late than never. There's always something explanatory when everything does fall into place.
I have personally met many Capricorn individuals who are so fun and their spirit is so free although they are the sign of work and business when it comes to stereotyping. They're actually very easy going unless there's more earth or Capricorn placements to harden then, but I've had the blessings of meeting multiple Capricorn placements and the patterns as well.
Capricorn moons seems to be the most intimidating Capricorn placement to be honest or maybe that's my water ♋ ♓ talking 🤷🏾‍♀️
Capricorn suns are fun and exciting. I used to be friends with a Capricorn sun Aries moon and she is a jolly person overall. Always a sisterly remembrance when we run into each other.
Capricorn Mars: Mind you, I'm Taurus Mars. My most notable Capricorn Mars experience was in the bedroom with my first love. The hours behind that "deed" is nonstop. I love that for us. I could use that as a workout regimen 😅😁 But seriously, aside from that, Capricorn Mars are just naturally tenacious and focused. They know how to put themselves aside when needed. It's beautiful, actually. They will place importance on practical proof 🧾. Their work ethic is impeccable and they know how to focus solely on their task at hand. Nothing have to matter while they are focusing on what's important.
Capricorn Rising happens to be the placement of my child's Father and I seen people talk about possible balding and certain things with this placement. It's true. They are very initiating for sure. They have a direct approach when they have their decision made. It's notable, but it may change because that's the initial approach, but with a Cancer 7th house, things will definitely feel different for them eventually. They can learn to make less mistakes by using logic from the get go and thinking long-term as in how something will impact them in the long haul. They should go after things that is aligned with their genuine goals.

Hi!
First of all, thank you for everything you do for the fandom. I always love your screenshots + meaningful text combinations, they are so good! Thanks to you I have also added some new amazing songs to my playlists (Dark Horse and Anti-hero included).
I have a question and a song to share. First goes the question: do you happen to know any, just ANY tdp fanfiction which explores the what-if scenario where team Zym loses the Battle of the Storm Spire? If not, it would be great if you shared your own thoughts about it. Like, what if Viren & Aaravos succeeded in draining power from Zym? What would happen then? I tried to find something on Ao3 but all I got was a couple of works focused entirely on Viravos or something about reincarnation. Which is fine but not exactly what I am looking for.
I'd also like to share a song with you. It's Storm by Blackmore's Night. As the title suggests, it's about the storm and I've been fascinated with this song for a few years now. Maybe you'll like it too :)
Aww thank you so much, that is so sweet!! I can't think of any fics or headcanon posts I've seen like that along those regards, but I do have a tag for canon divergences in general and one for my specific explorations.
I think the biggest thing to consider would be if Zym was successfully killed or not.
1. Zym lives
This means the kids can potentially, if frantically, flee, with Janai and Amaya and any other surviving Sunfire elves being captured. Soren and co. could go looking for other archdragons (I'm sure Rayla would've heard of Rex Igneous) or Earthblood allies who would either worry about the encroaching invasion and/or recognize Zym as the future heir and advocate for his sovereignty. The biggest change here is that Lux Aurea is like, even more devastated, and I could see Janai being executed bc she's the next heir, but who knows
Kids come back six months later with an Earthblood army (also don't think the monster-humans would survive or thrive well long term, so that depletion could be over time) but it may not even matter, depending on what Aaravos' endgame (release?) was for harvesting Zym in the first place
2. Zym dies
This one is trickier, as it leaves us with a very heartbroken Ezran (the mind/soul link so recently formed and so brutally severed) and with no draconic heir. As long as Zym was alive, the kids would have hope, so with him gone I think they'd be very dejected (and of course, grieving their friend). I could see Ezran falling into a depression of sorts, just because he'd probably blame himself for his handling of the kingdom's troops, and he was the closest to Zym. Callum would delegate more time/thought to his brother as a result, leaving Soren and Rayla to maybe bond a bit more in terms of leading the group and figuring out what to do next, bound by the goal of keeping the remaining princes alive until they can figure out a plan. (Callum would also probably get his hands on a dark magic book, Just In Case, because I don't think he'd been willing to hold anything back now that he and particularly Ezran are Viren + Aaravos' #1 targets, in terms of eliminating any kind of uprising).
I could see Rayla bringing everyone back to the Silvergrove, as it is cloaked by illusions, and they can still interact with objects even if no one can see them, so it's kind of the perfect place to hide. Then maybe Callum and Rayla would go look for again, arch dragons or possible reinforcements, leaving Soren to look after Ezran when they'd do reconnaissance, since Rayla is their Xadian guide and Callum doesn't want her to go alone
This would probably be more of a slow build, and I could see them travelling to Duren as well (which, I suppose Aanya would be captured and executed for treason against the Pentarchy, just because Viren could - although I could see Claudia feeling bad/awkward about executing a girl who's not much younger than herself? Unexpected imprisoned Aanya and sympathetic conflicted Claudia bonding? Opeli gets executed, hopefully Corvus escapes). But yeah, two years before they can come back and take the throne, and I could see Callum and Rayla both becoming a bit more cut throat because they've had two years of like, protecting Ezran at the forefront, and surviving in the wild long term when you're hunted fugitives is just a different kind of experience. Ezran, because of their sheltering, remains just as kind, but he's much much Sadder in his day to day presentation, and that never entirely goes away
Depending on whether the Illusion stabbing happened - and let's just say that it didn't - I could see Claudia trying to reach out to and track down Soren, convinced she can get him to come home now that 'his side lost' and 'there's nothing left for him there anymore, can you get over your identity crisis and come home'. So I feel like Soren would actually probably be Angrier at Claudia in his scenario here than he is in canon, just because he sees more of the long lasting destruction and doesn't have victory to make him worried about his sister
Feel free to send in other asks and thoughts about this lil scenario (either one), it's definitely an interesting one to consider! Or any other canon divergences, really - I have a tiny list of ones I know I want to write drabbles for at the very least

This morning I left a long comment on a Facebook post by my dead friend's mom where she said she isn't ready to arrange a life celebration yet, and she urges people to keep sharing her daughter's memory. I had been meaning to do this for a month, but I often find Facebook too annoying to use just in UI/UX terms, and I had developed some sort of ridiculous paranoia that people would find out that I might have been the last person to speak to my friend, and that I was standing outside her apartment expecting her to let me in while she was dying. I fantasized that I would have to account for that somehow, to comb through details that I'm sure wouldn't be useful to anyone, and explain why I didn't do more when she strangely didn't come to the door or answer my texts. I still don't know what happened to her.
I reached out to the only acquaintance we shared in common, who was one of her roommates when we were neighbors. He regarded her as his best friend and has been completely shattered by this, especially as it came a year after the death of his ex-girlfriend, who who acted as their kind-of third musketeer. Privately I got a pretty good impression that he drove my dead friend nuts, but I wouldn't know if that was just a part of their "old married couple" dynamic or if they had a truly one-sided relationship. I guess you just don't always get to know how your dearest loved ones really think of you, and in fact maybe you shouldn't. He was the person I had asked to check up on her the day that she died, and he was the only person I could think to ask what happened to her, although I was afraid to. He texted me a detailed download of all the sad things that have happened to him since she died in September, and then he said he would have to wait until his day off to answer my question. I haven't heard from him and I don't think I'm going to. I'm sort of sorry I asked.
Tangentially: It struck me recently that cause of death has become the final frontier of privacy. This is fascinating to me, considering the constant state of overexposure in which most of us live. I've had several experiences in the past few years of someone dying--a casual acquaintance, a friend more than 3 degrees of separation away, a minor celebrity with a cult following in which I participate--and I just had no way of finding out what happened. These have been rare cases in which Google had nothing, not even a rumor; in the present case I was able to unearth the record of an arrest I had never heard about, but nothing about the death. Obviously if you're Michael Jackson or Prince or something then all bets are off, but below that line, if the bereaved don't choose to broadcast the cause or manner of death, then you'll just never find out what those things could have been. I'm thinking right now of another friend of mine who, we all tended to agree, had committed suicide, which was absolutely in-character for her as far as I was concerned...but at the same time, there were compounding factors that made her true level of deliberation ambiguous. I sometimes wish I could talk to someone about it, but I'm afraid it would just hurt her survivors pointlessly to hash it out. In her case, I just have to choose what I want to believe.
Anyway.
My plan that day had been to get a quick haircut before I went to London to record a commentary track for a new release of THE AMITYVILLE HORROR, based on my research into the creation of its mythology. This opportunity had come by way of a strange coincidence, and it seemed to justify the grueling self-directed project I had made out of it for the past several years. As I was preparing for my trip, which felt like the climax of a long journey with this subject, I started to feel silly about never having gone to Amityville to see the house. It's not an easy thing to justify; I'd basically be traveling for a total of 5 hours just to stand in front of the house long enough to annoy whoever lives there. But it felt like something I ought to do, as part of my devotion to the topic, so my plan was to see my friend for a quick trim, get on the Long Island Rail Road to do the thing, then return as fast as possible to pack in time to leave the house at 4am the following day. When my friend didn't let me in, only an hour and a half after we'd texted, and I waited around for 25 minutes in the boiling heat in case she had stepped out for coffee or something, before finally coming to terms with the fact that she flaked on me while I was preparing for a stressful international trip, I got all agitated and couldn't bring myself to do the rest of my plan. I've still never seen the Amityville house.
But later, after I found out what had happened, I was glad I didn't go. I imagined the alternative timeline: I went to my friend's apartment for a trim, couldn't make contact with her, went to see the legendary house where six people were brutally murdered and where, according to countless books and movies and podcasts etc, demonic possession took hold--and then I came home to discover that my friend had suddenly and mysteriously died. It would have been impossible for me not to connect these things. Not that I'm so eager to believe in curses; in fact my work has mostly focused on why belief in the supernatural has been easier to achieve than the availability of help for sufferers of mental illness, drug addiction, and domestic violence. But I'm not a hardcore skeptic either, which is exactly why this story has been so meaningful to me. We can't identify true mysteries if we don't train ourselves to analyze real-world events, and the reasons why certain events attract certain monstrous interpretations. For me this kind of training is urgently important, because I'm given to certain strains of magical thinking and I have to be vigilantly aware of what motivates my behavior and convictions. The circumstantial connection between my friend's unexpected death, and my plans for that day, could have proven irresistible to me.
Even now, obviously, I am connecting my plan to visit the cursed house at 112 Ocean Avenue to my friend's abrupt passing. The connection isn't as corrupting as it would be if I had put my feet on Amityville soil that day, but the experience I am currently having tells me exactly how potent this influence could have been at maximum. All my work has been about belief, where beliefs come from, what they do to us personally, even neurologically. I'm haunted by things I used to believe and where those beliefs came from, why I was so vulnerable to them, to the point of complicity in my own destruction. I'm sympathetic to people who believe in things that seem dicey, or in things that offer a seductive reward that outstrips the need to weigh evidence and consequences. But I believe that in many, perhaps most cases, skepticism is just as much of a belief system as faith. Hard evidence always looks that way as long as hard evidence is what you're looking for, an impression that seduces you away from noticing what personal choices you are making in the curation of your worldview. And at the risk of being overly cryptic, I have come to believe that people are only capable of perceiving that which they already believe in, whatever that might consist of. In any case, if you are really paying attention, you begin to notice that you find true proof of things less often than you simply have to prejudicially choose what you believe. These days I have tried to make agnosticism into a discipline, but at the moment I am consciously choosing to believe that my friend did not die in connection with a curse. And I am consciously acknowledging the fact that if that day of my life had gone as originally planned, it could have had a much graver impact on my experience of the death.

Cloudtail/Swiftpaw/Brightpaw, and the tension caused when Cloudtail becomes a warrior and the others don't.
Bright/Cloud/Swift(/Thorn?) is one I've been trying to figure out for a while in terms of what their pfurr dynamic would be like. Because I've already committed to Lionheart/Frostfur/Tigerclaw/Goldenflower. Which means that rather than first cousins Bright and Swift would be raised as myempfurr, father siblings. Although from a legal perspective, so to speak, they'd stop being so when Frostfur declares her two litters were sired by Lionheart, therefore stripping Tigerclaw AND Goldenflower from the pipfurr, father, role.
(Is she telling the truth? Maybe. Maybe not. I won't tell you either way, but if you wanna feel free to speculate.)
I've also been mulling over the specifics of the chronology of births of the three litters born from that particular pfurr before it falls apart. I have the order down, I believe, Brackenfur + Cinderheart -> Swiftpaw + Lynxkit -> Brightheart + Thornclaw. But I still struggle to really conceptualize what would be the ideal age difference between them and the timeframe during which they are born for it to be a) believable, and b) keeping mostly to canon.
Maybe I shouldn't sweat that detail too much but when writing young characters, as WC tends to focus on, I find it particularly important to have a clear idea of development stage and relative maturity. Hence why the brainstorming/pre-planning section of my docs very often has a timeline plotting births and relevant life milestones of key characters relative to plot beats.
Anyway not too much of this is going to be super relevant to the one-shot because these are meant to be very quick-and-dirty, mostly a means to train discipline and get the writing muscles working, but I still wanted to get my thoughts out. (Not to mention writing all this prologue is excellent for procrastrinating!)
(Wanna see me ramble a whole bunch before getting to your damn prompt? Check out my guidelines and submit one. I'm taking submissions all November long. I have enough to last me the month but I always appreciate having more than needed so I can have my pick. Plus we are rather lacking in the female-character centric prompts I wanted to do more of, so ya know. If you want a higher chance of getting chosen.)
“Swift,” Brightpaw said, reaching a paw out to his shoulder from her place in their shared nest. “I’m sure it’s nothing like what you are imagining. Cloudtail is a warrior now. It’s only appropriate of him to not interact with us the way he used to.”
“When has he cared one bit about what’s proper?” he retorted. “When have we for that matter?”
Brightpaw’s ears burned. It was true that she wasn’t supposed to sleep on a nest with anyone other than Thornpaw’s. It could be tolerated if it was a close myem, a sibling, who was close in age but it’d been a long time since the two had stopped being myempfurr in the eyes of Clan customs. And from there to have done so not only with him but with another tom that were they all warriors would be considered a suitable sire for her kits.
“This is more serious,” Brightpaw continued to insist. “Can you imagine the kind of scandal it’d be? Especially with the kind of history Cloudtail has? You’d want him to risk all of that just for us?”
“It’s no excuse to leave us forgotten like crowfood,” Swiftpaw snarled. “Besides, not only is he Bluestar’s newest darling, you’re forgetting we’re older than him, that everyone knows just how much of an unfair promotion that was, that we are just as skilled and just as strong, if not more! Anyone who took issue would be better off picking the thorns out of their nest.”
“Swift!” Brightheart scolded. “You know the Clan is not going to be like that. Not towards him, especially. Just let it go. When we’re warriors he can just court us and it’ll all be like nothing happened.”
“And when exactly is that going to be, Brightpaw?” Swiftpaw challenged. “A moon? A season? A year? Do you really expect us to just sit here idly by until the situation with Bluestar blows over? Do you think that while he has us forgotten and thrown to the wayside he is not going to be getting to know his fellow warriors? That he may not have fully forgotten us?”
“Oh, now you’re just assuming the worst possible outcome without any real proof,” Brightpaw complained.
“You said it yourself, possible outcome,” Swiftpaw retorted. “With what’s been happening do you really think that the worst one won’t be the one happening? How many times does it have to happen before you realize? How many times before you take it to heart?”
Brightpaw went silent.
“If Cloudtail will leave us forgotten, so be it, we will too,” Swiftpaw declared. “And if both of us want to stay as empf we need to do something. Something that will prove beyong anyone’s doubts that we are ready, that Bluestar’s judgement was warped, that we can do something to turn this Clan around.”
“What do you even want us to do?” Brightpaw asked.
The whiplash in what he was saying was just palpable. Wouldn’t he more than anyone be aware that even with a hundred assessments passed it ultimately rested in Bluestar whether or not to promote them? Wouldn’t he understand deeply that a cat set in his ways like her be would be unlikely to listen to his concerns? Wasn’t he the one wanting to sever from her ‘newest darling’ as he put it?
“We need to fight those dogs,” Swiftpaw declared.
Brightpaw’s eyes opened and she rose to her feet to stand in front of her empf. “No.” She stomped a foot down for emphasis. “No, no, and no. I’m not going to be agreeing to this. You’ve just got to forget this idea. Even with an expertly organized patrol this would be a risky mission but as an apprentice to put on this--”
“Brightpaw do we have another choice?” Swiftpaw challenged. “We’re practically warriors and we need to act like it. Moreso with such a paralyzed leadership over us. If a brat like Cloudtail can just strut around with respect by putting the shallowest act, imagine what we could obtain by actually doing an act of service to the warrior code.”
Brightpaw once again went silent and Swiftpaw rubbed across her neck in reassurance. “You’re more capable than you give yourself credit for, Brightpaw. Let’s prove that to everyone.”
It was a conversation that was forever burned into Brightheart’s memory.

Any headcanons for Delphi? :)
Mmmhh, this is a tough one since I don't really like the idea of Bella and Voldemort having kids (for various reasons, maybe I'll do a separate post about why).
Also, I read CC a long time ago and while I remember what happens, I also remember that the part about Delphi made my blood boil from the injustice that was her life. It irks me and irritates me to even think about it, both from the waste of the character and how she was treated. Also, I don't think she was a very well-written character at all (but none of them was in that play, so...)
For these reasons, and also because I try to not diverge too much from what we know in the canon, my HCs are about Delphi's conception and birth. If you want some about how the story actually went or about some AU where Bella and Vold live, I can do a part 2.
Delphi was a mistake. I don't care what anyone thinks or says, there is no way Voldemort planned her unless he wanted to cut her up and use her for some dark magic ritual where he needed his own flesh (sorry for the extremely gruesome image, but it's the truth). I think that both Voldemort and Bellatrix had just assumed it was impossible for them to conceive: a post-rebirth humanoid body couldn't possibly produce fertile sperm in Voldemort's mind, just like a battered, beaten body, put through fourteen years of torture in Azkaban couldn't possibly be fertile, let alone carry to term safely, in Bellatrix's mind. Ironically, they never had doubts about the other, although they were convinced the other had doubts about them.
It happens when they are not being careful, especially Bellatrix (who was the one that took contraceptives during the first war) since she isn't having regular periods and is very weak. Normally, witches at her age are still perfectly capable of having kids, but she had had problems in the past.
Neither of them takes it very well, at first.
Bellatrix does not want to become a mother. No, sir, she does not. She is Bellatrix, a female warrior, who wants to go into battle and bring the wrath of the gods, fire and blood, down upon her enemies. She never wanted kids, she doesn't want this one.
Bellatrix also doesn't want to be a mother. And the two are different. You see, I headcanon Bella as having a difficult relationship with her sex. Not because she doesn't like being a woman, but because she feels constrained in the stereotypical roles of womanhood, which she sought always to break from.
Once, when Druella was expecting her fourth and last child (a boy, who died a few days after birth), she had a conversation similar to that of Aemma and Rhaenyra in the first episode of HOTD. She told her eldest daughter, who was nine at the time, that sooner or later she would be laying in the birthing bed as that was her duty as a pureblood woman.
Bellatrix replied that she would rather be a warrior, destined for battles and glory. When Druella told her, half-scandalised half-worried, that warriors often died in battle, Bella answered that ladies died in childbirth, which to her was much worse.
Bellatrix has a series of crises and doubts regarding (in no particular order): her role as a mother, her relationship with the dark lord, her place in the DE ranks, the birth itself, her marriage with Rodolphus, her life after that, the sex of the baby, and much much more. The fact that no one explores them in fanfiction in the proper, deep, correct way irks me.
She concealed her pregnancy in the first months when it could still be done, and then she just disappeared for a while.
Bellatrix was the most pretentious mother-to-be in the world, with the most difficult cravings to satisfy. She accepted nothing but the best.
Bellatrix was sure her feelings towards the child wouldn't change whether it was a boy or a girl. With that being said, she hoped for a boy. The thought of a little Dark Lord, who was just like his father but who truly loved her and was devoted to her, was one of the main ideas that led her to accept the pregnancy. I think she thought raising a boy would be much easier, and something she would have more help with (Rodolphus & Rabastan, the DL himself, Narcissa who had already raised a son albeit a weakly one). There was also the idea of the Black inheritance. With a son who turned out stronger than Draco, she could provide an actual heir to the House of Black, something her parents had failed to do.
Also, Bella spent most of her adult life around men. She probably would have an idea of how to raise a son, how she would want him to be, and very few on how to raise a girl.
Of course, she would want a warrior for a daughter. Except what if her daughter didn't want to be? What if this daughter turned out like Narcissa, a housewife who barely uses complex magic these days? (I feel that Bella has some ingrained sexism inside of her, which I particularly like because it makes her even more complex). What if she marries an idiot like Lucius? Even worse, what if she runs away with a Mudblood like Andromeda? Oh, Bella would kill her with her own hands if that were the case! Her own mother had wanted someone more like Narcissa, someone less involved in the bloodshed and more in the politics. Bellatrix had suffered because her mother just wouldn't understand what the right choice was! What if her daughter was the same? What if her daughter felt the same about her? What if her daughter broke her heart the same way Andromeda had broken her mother's? What if she broke her daughter's heart?
Bellatrix wants a boy. Boys are more simple. (They're really not, but Bellatrix doesn't realize that).
On the other hand, Voldemort despises the idea of having a son. What if the child looks like Tom Riddle? What if the child tries to usurp him? Nope. He wants a daughter that looks like Bellatrix and has her loyalty.
He gets a daughter that looks like Bellatrix.
Bellatrix is also overjoyed because LV tells her he was hoping for a girl and that she has made him proud.
The moment she holds her daughter in her arms, she feels pride and love like never before because that is the blood of Salazar Slytherin and her Lord and her family all together and she is absolutely perfect.
She got to name the child and she respected the Black Family traditions (Voldemort doesn't concern himself with baby names, and definitely didn't have a family name he wished to bestow upon his child).
I have no idea why she chose Delphini, since dolphins are intelligent, playful, and friendly creatures (not the primary qualities Bella would have wanted for her child), and both the myths about the birth of this constellation do not fit these characters' stories at all. So, I think she did it because of another reason. The two main stars in the Delphinus constellation are Sualocin and Rotanev. When read backwards they give the name Nicolaus Venator, the Latin translation of the name Nicolò Cacciatore. He was an astronomer (and I headcanon him as a wizard, at this point) and the only man who ever got away with naming not one, but two stars after himself. I think Bellatrix would have been fascinated with this story, with this man who literally wrote his name in the stars. That's why she chose it.
The labour was difficult, and so was the pregnancy.
The child could understand her father speaking to her in Parseltongue, in the womb. Voldemort sometimes did that, just to make sure the child inherited that ability of his.
Voldemort was not present for the birth. He was in the room farthest from it and still, he could hear the screams and they reminded him of Wool's (where sometimes unfortunate girls like his mother turned up pregnant and in need of help; most died). He hated it.
Rodolphus, however, paced up and down outside of the room, and he still hadn't made up his mind on how to feel about the whole situation. (I find the whole thought of them being one big happy family a bit too fluffy and unrealistic).
LV was genuinely worried that Bellatrix would die and steeled himself by thinking there was no woman in the world more different from his mother.
There were also other worries: what if it was born dead, sick, deformed, slow... a squib, like his mother?
But it was the most perfect, healthy, baby girl.
She was NOT blonde.
Like Harry Potter, she too had her mother's eyes.

Ok so I thought we were all in agreement that the third was the worst Hokage??
Like he literally left baby Naruto to live on his own and went on to forbid ever telling him about the nine-tails incident, so he didn't even know why people hated him. Also, I'm not even sure all of them (the civilians mostly) knew what really happened that night since they all called him "the demon fox" and whatnot, but Hiruzen did nothing about that even when Minato wanted Naruto to be recognised as a hero. (Although Hiruzen doesn't take all the blame, Kakashi & Jiraiya didn't do shit either)
Also, he basically let Danzo do all the things he did without consequences? For instance: the uchiha clan massacre. No matter what some of yall say, it could have been avoided.
How so? Well, first, they started to feel more rejected by/suspicious of the village because they were pushed out in one corner of the village after the kyuubi's attack and were being watched by Anbus 24/7. That was after they were given the orders not to engage in the fight against the kyuubi.(which made them look suspicious in the eyes of the village cuz they didn't do asscrack). Who proposed that? Danzo and the council. And who let it happen? You guessed it, sarutobi. Yeah, sure, he was against it, but he is the Hokage. He is the one making the big decision in the end. (Tsunade literally showed that when she was the hokage)
Even after, it could still have been avoided if they talked to the Uchiha or Fugaku (the clan head) about everything and came to an agreement. Asking for their terms would show his willingness to right the wrongs against them and they surely would've been able to negotiate. Like, I know the uchihas were mad, but they're not stupid, and none of them wanted a full-blown war. They were just pushed into it because they didn't see any other option. If the talking didn't do anything, there was still Shisui. His plan would've worked, maybe not permanently, but it still would've bought them some time to think about a long-term solution. But Danzo killed him, so yeah.
ALSO DANZO LITERALLY TRIED TO KILL HIM??????
All to say that he was a bad Hokage because he repeatedly made the worst decisions, and I'm just saying that if any other hokage was in his position, they would've done better.

Safir Reactions 1x07
I previously wrote a review of the show up until episode 1x06, please reference that to see my initial impressions.
Welp... the latest episode dropped... I had to take a minute to really process all that. See SPOILERS below.
It was an episode filled with Yaman and Feraya.
Plot: Where the last episodes left off with a resolution that Feraya was ready to run away to Istanbul with her friend and raise her baby alone, because of all the harassment from Yaman, it kind of goes to shit when Yaman chases after her. He's holding onto some last hope that maybe Feraya didn't cheat on him (which she didn't) and that he can confront her about it (I don't know why he thought this time would be different when she hadn't told him before but...). They go to the vineyard where they shared a lot of special moments during their relationship (also where she tried to kill herself in the first episode, but they didn't put flashbacks of that in there, or of him confronting her with a gun when he broke up with her... do I sound bitter?) and have this moment of longing. Where I had hoped for some closure in this encounter, there was none. After she basically reaffirms her previous excuse that she's marrying Ates because they're in love, Yaman becomes very morose, calls Ates and leaves. Ates and Feraya speak (you know, because she dipped after taking money from his mom, leaving him in an uncomfortable position of having to explain and make excuses for her, and also getting blamed by her dad). He offers her an out, basically telling her that if she wants to leave for Istanbul, he'd make excuses for her and she can disappear. Feraya doesn't take the out, and decides to go through with the marriage, although she looks miserable the entire time. Yaman in the meantime makes plans to go to London (which the viewers can clearly tell is not what the actual plan is). Ates threatens everyone (mainly his mom) to stay out of his and Feraya's business and he looks hot doing so. Okan, having seen some liaisons, blackmails his way into learning about Feraya's pregnancy through one of the other characters (Bade), and the reason for her marriage to Ates, but he does not tell this to anyone.
The day of the wedding arrives, Ates gets a text from an ex (who learned of his wedding from his mother), Yaman takes a last look at Feraya and leaves a letter confessing everything for Ates in his room. Then he goes and drives himself into a wall. Feraya, who is his emergency contact, gets called about it and immediately runs to go to him. He's in critical condition when she arrives, flatlining and everything. She's in so much stress that she also collapses.
Some other shenanigans happen but that's secondary plot that I'm not going to get into at the moment.
Characters:
Feraye: I honestly don't have much to say about Feraye right now. She's an emotional mess. The girl is stressed. She's been having cramps the entire episode because of the stress she's under. I'm very sympathetic towards her feelings, but at the same time, this 'bond' that she apparently shares with Yaman is starting to piss me off. Also, I'm super pissed that she decided to go through with the wedding when she so clearly didn't want to. And f*ck Cemile's threats, because that woman does not have the reach she pretends she does. She's so clearly dreading this wedding, although I don't know why because she's marrying a GOAT, and she knows she's marrying a really sweet guy but she's acting like she's being led to her execution. And the way she clutched her chest like she 'felt' Yaman's crash... SPARE. ME! so freaking dramatic. Gross. But I'm being very harsh. The girl, as I've said previously, is still mourning her long term relationship with a guy that has been emotionally (and physically) abusing her since it ended. And now that he's 'backing off' apparently, it's like being abandoned all over again. It's like going through withdrawal almost. And rushing to his side when he's had an accident is also understandable. This is a guy that she's been with for years, has so much history with, is about to have his baby, and now he's on death's door. So I'm not going to be pissed at her for going to him. I will be pissed if she forgives him, stays with him after he's stable, and decides to trust him again, but that's future episodes problem.
Ates: Poor boy was done dirty this episode. Like he says, they are really pushing the limits of his patience here. First he gets scolded by Feraye's father who acts like he did something wrong for her to leave, and he has to find excuses for her family, then he has to deal with his own mother so she doesn't spill the beans to his grandfather that Feraye can be bought off, then he has to deal with Bade who's got some sort of snooping thing in his personal life right now. He's also got to console and reassure Feraye, when any mortal would be super pissed at this point, he is still very patient and kind to her. Now, I'm still firmly on his side, but if he turns out to be a sociopath, I wouldn't be surprised because he's getting remarkably threatening to others. I really want to see what he'd do once he's pushed off the edge of his patience. And we get a little insight into his backstory... he left a girl (Melis) at the altar. So I'm excited to see what drama will emerge with that character when she appears.
Yaman: I have a lot to say about Yaman, and a lot of it won't be good, so don't come at me, I'm giving you a warning. ... ready? okay. This LITTLE SHIT! no. I'm not sympathetic that he tried to kill himself. This jack*ss knew exactly what he was doing. He was being so manipulative, and so selfish. This is an abuser tactic. This mentally that, 'I'm thinking about you and I'm filled with you, so you have to be filled with me.' He tried to kill himself ON HER WEDDING DAY!! Forever, that day will be stained with his death. It's exactly the same thing he did with the wedding rings during the coffee ceremony (telling her "Whenever you see this ring you'll think of me") Yes, as an audience we know that this wedding means nothing to her, but he thought she was moving on, and he believed that his brother honestly loved her. He did this as a way to ruin that for them. And, I'm sorry, but are we even sure this was an honest suicide attempt? The ambulance got there awfully fast for him to be in the middle of no where crashing his car. Did he call them first? I wouldn't be surprised because this guy is an honest sh*t stain. And when did he decide to 'kill himself.'? When he didn't get the answer he wanted out of her. When she said that she is marrying his brother because she was 'caught' with him. (a lie but whatever). He did this specifically to make her feel guilty. This was entirely an abusive move on his part. Abusers do this! They say, 'if you leave me I'll die' (and wasn't that the whole point of the gun in the first episode as well). They have such an unhealthy dynamic where they are so dependent on each other and the minute she tries to move on, he's basically saying, 'look what happens when you try to move away from me. I can't live without you.' IT'S DISGUSTING! He did this just to hurt her. And as for what he's doing to his brother is also gross. He's not thinking about how he's hurting Ates by doing this on his wedding day. It's entirely a statement of 'I had her first and this day (your wedding day) is going to be mine now.' Also, he's having his older brother clean up his mess, after all the sh*t. UGGGH. Now I'm not saying the he wasn't overwhelmed. Yes, the situation is very stressful and he was likely very tired and exhausted of having his life turned upside down, and not getting any respite anywhere he goes. But he had a plan to go to London. He literally could have gone to London and just lived his life free of all of it. His wife would never have to join him or even if she did, he could ditch her anywhere in London. This suicide attempt was entirely about Feraye, not the situation with Okan and Cemile and Aleyna. This was about making Feraye see that he can't live without her. And I'm so grossed out. Massive ick. I hope he lives in the next episode and I hope he gets a massive dose of BOUNDARIES.
Okan: Maybe the real villain of this story is the childlike Okan. He's kind of a sh*t. Actually, scratch the kind of. He is a sh*t. Now, I didn't want him to tell Yaman about Feraye's pregnancy, but the fact that he didn't is a real dick move to the brother he owes a lot to. Also, I'm getting major, it's a creep, vibes from the kid.
Conclusion:
What a frustrating episode. I can't wait for the next one. I really need to see what happens next.

Fic: Alive, Part 23
Summary: Aidan traced the thin chain around his neck, rubbing the infinity pendant between his fingers. No longer a symbol of their everlasting love, it was something he touched in anger when he thought of Sage. It was the only thing of hers that still remained with him after eight years, the last possession which still connected them together. When he 4did find Sage again, and he would no matter how long it took, he planned to destroy the pendant - and her.
Taking place across two timelines, Alive tells the story of Aidan and Sage, high school sweethearts driven apart by who they are and where they come from. Once enemies then lovers, their relationship runs full circle when they meet again in the present, now prepared to destroy each other.

Now...
Later that evening after putting Ziyah to bed, Sage poured herself a glass of wine and headed into the den. Usually this was her time to relax but that was the farthest thing from her mind tonight. David was watching a movie and she took the seat beside him, offering a small smile when he reached for her glass. After an unsuccessful attempt at watching the movie, she finally gave up. "I don't think Aidan's leaving."
David took a sip of the wine. "What changed your mind? The other night you were so convinced he'd be jetting out of here."
"I was wrong."
"You mentioned he showed up at your office?"
"Yup. To tell me he bought the penthouse suite in this building. So now I have to worry about running into him everywhere."
"Jackass doesn't do things halfway, does he?"
"Nope."
"What exactly did he say?"
"That he's not going anywhere and he's willing to do things my way to make it easier on Ziyah. Blah, blah, blah."
"If I say something will you swear not to bite my head off?" David asked.
"No."
"I'm going to say it anyway."
"It's your head."
"Fighting with him is obviously taking a toll on you. You're stressed out, pissed off. Is it really worth it?"
"What should I do then? Just hand him my daughter?"
"That's not what I meant," David griped. "He said he's willing to do things your way, right?"
"Yeah."
"Then use that to your advantage! Give him a chance to get to know Ziyah but you be the one to dictate the terms."
"I don't want him near us."
"Yeah well, he's not going anywhere until he meets Ziyah. So you can either compromise with him and gain some control over the situation or let him ruin what you've worked so hard to protect. You have every reason to hate him and his family. I get that. After everything that happened, who can blame you for wanting to protect Ziyah from them?" David wrapped his arm around her shoulder. "Maybe the key to getting what you want isn't to keep fighting but to give him just enough rope to hang himself. He wants to play daddy, right? Let him. Show him all the work that goes into it, how hard the whole thing is, and maybe that'll be enough for him to give up on that idea. Once he sees how difficult it is, he'll go back to L.A and do whatever the fuck he does, and you'll never have to worry about him again."
"And how do you think Ziyah will feel about that, huh? Do you think it's easy for a kid to be rejected by a parent?” Her mind raced, her heart pulsed. "Unless... I don't have to tell her he's her dad, I could just say he's a friend or something. And that way when he leaves, she won't be attached to him."
"There you go!" He squeezed her shoulder as a sign of encouragement.
She took back the wine glass from David's hand and chugged the rest of the drink. Although still hating the idea of Aidan being around Ziyah, she realised David was right. When things became too difficult or too much for Aidan to handle, he had a tendency to run back to the familiar – as proven by how easily he'd abandoned her and returned to Cat once Sage refused to bend to his will. So all she had to do was be patient, and wait for Aidan's destructive habits to kick in when parenting proved more difficult than whatever fantasy he had created in his head. And then, hopefully sooner than later, he would finally leave and she and Ziyah could return to their normal routine.
Finding some semblance of peace now that she had a plan, Sage leaned back against the couch. "I'm going to miss you when you leave."
"I'm not gone yet."
"I wish you could stay longer."
"Me too."
"Have you talked to Patrick?" His hesitation didn't escape her notice. "David, what's going on?"
"Nothing."
"You sure? I'm here if you need to talk."
He replied with a half-hearted smile before falling back on the couch, snuggling against her. "Shut up and let me watch the movie."
"Fine," she muttered, resting her head on his shoulder. Tomorrow she would search for Aidan's contact information and set up a meeting, inviting the chaos that he always brought with him; tonight, however, when everything was still peaceful, she just wanted to cling to the comfortable life she had built for herself and Ziyah.
*****
Sage entered the Shangri-la hotel and headed towards the bar where she was supposed to meet Aidan. Spotting a bathroom along the way, she made a quick stop to check her reflection in the mirror. Her stomach was coiled into knots, she felt nervous and sweaty – but her reflection appeared normal, composed even. She smoothed down the fabric of her suit, checked to make sure the hem of her skirt was even. A little voice in her head pointed out she never worried this much about her appearance, not even when doing showings for prospective clients, but Sage ignored it.
The bar, conveniently named The Bar, was tucked away in the northwest corner of the lobby floor. Upon entering the premise, she scanned the area and found Aidan at the bar. Surprise, surprise, he was talking to the very attractive bartender and, from the looks of it, she was flirting back. Not that Sage could blame the woman. Wearing jeans, a teal blue sweater, and a charming smile on his face, he looked good. Really good. Asshole. Feeling more tense now, Sage approached him. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything."
He turned towards her, the easy smile on his face now replaced with something a lot less warm. His languid gaze swept down her body, cold and judgmental. "Aren't you always?"
"Says the man who barged into my life and now refuses to leave."
"Touché." He grinned, standing up. "Let's get a table."
"This isn't a fucking date," she snapped.
He quirked his eyebrow. "Don't flatter yourself. I'm hungry. I haven't eaten in hours."
"Why? To maintain your girlish figure?"
"Ah, you noticed." Aidan smirked. "Been checking me out?"
She resisted the smile that was threatening to break out. "Now who's flattering themselves?"
"Someone has to. You obviously won't."
He gestured to the hostess to seat them and soon they were sitting at a booth, big enough so that it didn't feel intimate – which was the last thing she needed to worry about. After he ordered a steak, a bottle of wine and some appetizers, they were alone once again. Awkwardness set in like a thick fog over them. It occurred to her there was a time when she used to fantasize about going out to dinner with Aidan at a public place, like a normal couple, without having to worry about Cat or anyone else bullying or insulting them, but Sage told herself to stop being ridiculous and get over it.
"If you play nice, I may give you a small piece of my steak," he said, bringing her out of her reverie.
She met his gaze. Aidan's eyes were a darker shade tonight, contrasting against the colour of his sweater. His handsome face stared back at her, his lips curved into a small, flirtatious smile. It was so easy to be swept away by him when he played up the charm, and just as difficult to get over the heartbreak when he was done and no longer cared. Although it had been years it still felt like it was just yesterday he had rejected her, thrown her aside for her sister, and she remembered the deep anguish all too well. "I don't want you anywhere around my daughter."
His smile dissolved. "Our daughter. I know you like to think you conceived her all on your own but you didn't. Do I need to go over the birds and the bees thing with you?"
"Fuck you. I've raised her on my own, I've given her a safe and loving home-"
"No one fucking asked you to do it by yourself!" His voice was heavy with anger and fully directed at her. "I could have helped! I could have been a part of her life from the very beginning but you took me out of the equation. You had no right to do that!"
"So what is it that you want? Is this about ownership for you, about possession? She has your genes so now you feel like you have to claim her, maybe dominate over her?"
"No!" he griped, disgusted. "I want to..." He exhaled a resigned sigh, reaching for his glass of wine. "I want to get to know her. That's all. Why is that so hard to understand?"
His sincerity was almost enough to weaken her resolve – until she remembered the danger that surrounded him. "I don't trust you, and the thought of you being around Ziyah scares the crap out of me."
Pain flooded over his features, as if she had physically hurt him.
"But I also know how much of a stubborn jackass you are and you're not going to give up anytime soon."
"You're making me blush," he deadpanned.
"I don't want to spend my time arguing or worrying about you. It's not good for me and it's definitely not good for Ziyah. She might be a kid but she can sense when things aren't right."
"What do you have in mind?"
"I have conditions. And before you start bitching at me about them, you need to know this isn't for me as much as it is for Ziyah. I have to protect her no matter what. I'm her mom. That's my job."
He gave her a small smile. "Okay."
"She can't know you're her dad, at least not yet."
"Why?"
"Because how do I know you're not going to get bored and take off next week or next month? I don't. And when that happens, I'm going to be left with a daughter who'll be heartbroken. I can't bear that. I remembered what being rejected by a parent felt like. I don't want her to experience something that horrible."
Suddenly Aidan leaned in closer, his gaze boring into her. "I'm not going to leave. You have my word."
"Your word doesn't mean anything to me," she replied, hating that her voice trembled with emotion. "Until I can trust that you're in her life for good, she can't know you're her dad. It's as simple as that."
He watched her for a long time, almost daring her to break eye contact, but she refused to look weak in front of him and held his gaze.
"Fine," he finally relented. "How are you going to explain my being around all of a sudden?"
"I'll just tell her we're friends. She's a kid. She'll buy it."
"Friends, huh? Is that what we are now?"
"No, but we don't need to be. We just can't be at each other's throats in front of Ziyah. That's not a good environment for a child to be in."
The food arrived then, just in time to distract from the hostile energy that had taken over between them. Shortly after she was nibbling on some deep-fried spring rolls and watching him wolf down his steak. He wasn't kidding when he'd mentioned being hungry. By the looks of it, he was positively famished. "What were you so busy doing that you didn't even have time to eat today?"
"That's none of your business, is it?"
"Is this how you're planning to talk to me in front of Ziyah?"
"Do you really think I would do that?" he fired back. "You're not the only one with a shitty parent. I had one too, and I remember what it was like growing up in a house and being terrified of him. I hated how he spoke to my mother and me, like we were fucking things that he owned and not actual human beings." He wiped his mouth with a napkin and took a swig of his drink. "Whatever is happening between us, you and me, I'm not going to bitch you out or disrespect you in front of her. And before you list this as one of your conditions, I don't intend to go against any decisions you've made for her either. As far as Ziyah is concerned, you and I are a united front."
His words stunned her, mostly because she hadn't expected that level of understanding from him.
"What else? What other conditions do you have?"
She took a breath before speaking. "Ziyah can't have any contact with Cat, Theo. Any of them. And your mom."
"Are you fucking kidding me?"
She braced herself for a fight. "I don't want my kid being called names, or being treated like shit. No one should have to live with being bullied, and your friends and family? They're bullies. They're horrible people, they're disgusting, and I won't let my daughter be exposed to them. I don't give a fuck that they matter to you or they're important to you. What I care about is Ziyah and I'll die before I let any of them near her."
"Don't hold back. Tell me how you really feel," he said flippantly.
"I'm not budging on this."
"They're not just my family, they're hers too. Sooner or later, she'll have to meet them."
"Not if I can help it."
"Is this really about Ziyah? Or you?"
Sage shook her head. "Of course you don't get it. I don't know why I expected any different from you." Taking out her wallet, she threw some bills on the table. "Forget this. Forget I even came here," she muttered, refusing to look at him as she gathered her things together.
"Yeah, keep running. That's what you do best, right?"
Not bothering to respond to his condescending tone, she stormed out.
*****
Then...
The morning had started off like any other: a sparring match with Cat at home and then dealing with the constant buzz of malicious gossip about herself at school. Although Sage had perfected the art of acting impervious, it was hard to keep up the charade when a nastier-than-usual rumor reached her ears. Yesterday's gossip blast was all about how she'd fucked three guys, one after the other, in the men's bathroom to get her hands on some molly; today, there was something new to fuel people's interests.
"What's going on?" David asked, joining her as they followed the crowd of people in the hallway.
"Locker check or something."
"Why are the cops here?"
"They received a tip someone was selling drugs in Belleville," someone replied from a few feet away.
"Why don't they just question Marcus? Everyone knows he's the one you call when you need a hit of something," David griped. "Wait a sec. If they find porn in our lockers they can't arrest us for that, can they?"
"They'd have to arrest all the guys in Belleville then," Sage replied. "I doubt that's going to happen."
"I hope so."
They watched as a police officer and his dog walked the hallway, occasionally stopping in front of lockers to check them. Soon they were near Sage's section when the dog started sniffing her locker. Even though there was nothing suspicious contained within, her stomach still turned with anxiety.
"Ms. Alvi, can you please open your locker for us?"
Sage shot a worried look at David before doing as requested. Nervousness turned into a sick feeling of dread as she stepped aside and allowed the officer to search through her things. A second later, he pulled out a variety of bags from the back of her locker.
"Those aren't mine!" Sage insisted.
"Ms. Alvi, I need you to come with us."
It didn't matter how much she protested; her pleas fell on deaf ears as they led her away from the gathering crowd.
*****
After spending the last few hours in the police station being interrogated by the cops and then lectured by Thomas and his lawyer, she was finally back in the poolhouse. The events of the past few hours flashed through her mind. Someone had put drugs in her locker, enough to make sure she would be charged with possession for sale. And with her recent bout of troubles at Belleville, they were all too eager to believe she was capable of that. The cynical part of her wondered if the authorities would be more lenient if she had been white. Unfortunately, despite having a father who was, she wasn't afforded the benefits of the privileged.
Closing the door behind her, she stared blankly at her surroundings. She was tired, of this place, her father and his family, of continuously fighting with everyone. Her mind was exhausted, her heart broken. For a while there she had been happy, deliriously so, when she and Aidan had been together but now the thought of him just filled her with shame. He'd used her and she had allowed herself to be used, letting herself believe he cared about her, even loved her. With everything falling apart, he'd been a lifeline she had desperately clung to – but it had been an illusion, nothing more than lies.
In the end, with Layal gone, she was alone. Always alone. And that was never going to change.
She walked to the bed, took a seat. College had been the light at the end of the tunnel, the one thing getting her through this hellhole, but now, because of these trumped up charges, even that dream was quickly dissipating. Everything was dark, her future bleak, and there was no escaping it.
*****
The knock on the door woke her up. She glanced at the clock. It was a little after 8am, only a few hours had passed since she'd returned from the police station. About to get up to answer the door, she stilled upon hearing the jiggle of keys. A second later, Cat stepped inside. Dressed impeccably like she always was, Cat greeted her with a smug smile on her face, positively preening.
"Damn. You're still here."
"What do you want, Cat?"
"You. Gone. For good."
Cat strutted across the room, stopping halfway between the door and the bed, carefully scrutinizing the area. "We're going to have to steam your stench out of this place when you finally leave."
Sage forced herself to remain calm. "It was you, wasn't it? You put the drugs in my locker."
Cat met her gaze, her eyes gleaming with satisfaction. "Maybe. Then again, you've pissed off so many people it could be just about anybody. Tish. Marcus. Aidan."
Sage wondered if this level of despair would haunt her forever. There seemed to be no end in sight, no matter where she turned.
"Nothing to say?" Cat jeered.
Despite how she felt, Sage refused to break down in front of Cat. "Leave now, Cat, or you'll be needing a plastic surgeon to fix your face once I'm done with you."
"And you wonder why people hate you. You're trash, Sage. And instead of being grateful that we let someone like you around us, you act all superior. No wonder Madeline hates you so much."
From the slight inflection in Cat's voice, Sage knew right away who was responsible for setting her up. Madeline. Aidan's mom. And she obviously did it with Cat's help.
Swallowing an audible breath, Sage stood up. "I'm going to count to five, and you know what'll happen once I reach the end." Before she made it to three, Cat scurried out of the room. Taking a deep breath, she pondered the bombshell her sister had dropped. Madeline was the one responsible for these charges but Sage couldn't figure out why. It's not like she and Aidan were still together so why was his mother out to get her now?
As much as Sage hated the idea of contacting Aidan, she had no choice. He was the only one who could explain Madeline's motivations because, frankly, Sage had no clue. She picked up the phone, dialed his number, growing increasingly tense as the phone rang for several seconds. Finally, he picked up after the third ring.
"Sage?"
The way he whispered her name with such longing made her insides churn. It was hard for her to breathe, let alone speak.
"Sage?"
"Forget it. This was a mistake."
"No, don't hang up. Please."
Every instinct in her body told her to end the call but her heart... her heart leapt up in her chest, surging with emotions.
"I don't know why you called but I'm glad you did. I miss you, Sage."
She remained silent, unable to respond.
"I know you're pissed at me, you have every right to be. But I swear I'll change, I'll be better, I'll never hurt you again. Just please give me another chance."
"That's not why I'm calling!" she replied quickly, before his words were able to break through her barriers. "I'm in trouble."
"What's wrong?" he asked, sounding panicked.
"I was arrested today. The cops searched my locker and found drugs in there."
"Marcus." Aidan's terse words were laced with anger. "He must have planted them there. When I get back-"
"It wasn't Marcus. Or at least he didn't work alone. It was your mom who set it up."
There were several beats of silence before he finally answered. "Sage, come on. Why would she do that?"
"That's what I'm calling you to find out. You and I are done; we're not together anymore and she doesn't need to worry about me. So why is she out to get me?"
"Don't you think you're being a little paranoid right now?"
Of course he didn't believe her. It was foolish of her to assume that he would. After all, Aidan was one of them. "I don't know why I thought you'd help me."
"And I don't know why you're so determined to blame my mom for this. What makes you think it wasn't Tish or Marcus that put that shit in there?" His voice softened, almost as if to lull her into a false sense of security. "I'm at my grandparent's right now. I'll be back in LA soon. Just hang tight for a few days until I'm home and then we can work through this together."
"Yeah, sure," she scoffed.
"Sage, I know things seem hopeless right now but you're not alone. I'll be there as soon as I can. Just wait for me. Please."
He sounded insincere, every word out of his mouth a ridiculous lie. How could she have trusted him in the past? Loved him? Cat's words from earlier rung in her ear. There was a very good possibility that it was Aidan who had planned this. She knew all too well what he was capable of when angry; thanks to his parents, he was an expert on manipulating people and doling out extreme punishment when he felt slighted – and yet there was a part of her that still refused to believe he would hurt her to that extent. Then again, it didn't matter. Even if Madeline was the one responsible, his refusal to believe the truth made him just as culpable in Sage's eyes.
"Say something," he urged, voice infused with fake desperation.
She hung up and turned off the phone.
With no one on her side she had to figure out a way out of this mess on her own – which meant she had to confront Madeline.
To be continued...

anyway here's some power of the doctor thoughts from someone who phased in and out of thirteen's era very casually and only saw like a cumulative 10 episodes of it, maybe
honestly i enjoyed it more-or-less/more than i expected, lol, maybe because i had no particular expectations riding on it i just wanted to see what would happen. i don't think it was the tightest or most coherent script but no showrunner's finale ever has been LMAO so... it is what it is.
the master's entire plan seemed overly convoluted and i don't entirely follow why we had half the plot elements we had, but i'm also always willing to accept the master doing fuckshit for reasons that don't really go beyond wanting to ruin the doctor's day and get their attention. so like. sure. i can roll w that lmfao. the daleks and cyberman stuff seemed totally superfluous too but... whatever idc
dhawan's master isn't my fave master but he's enjoyable to watch, imo. the most bonkers one of the 3 modern i think? which considering the competition is a high bar, lol.
i think a bigger crit, for me, of 13-era master is more on jodie's end, where i don't get as much conflict and whatnot from her, which in turn makes it a less interesting dynamic than the other modern master+doctor combos. the push-pull mutual obsession is what makes them fun! i don't believe 13 would cradle his body sobbing and begging him to regenerate after he tortured her for a year, so really, what's the point
it was nice seeing ace and tegan. i think i maybe once saw a serial with each but it was so long ago, so i won't pretend any kind of authority in terms of how they were written. but i liked having them around lol
i think it was a bit of an odd choice to have dhawan 'take over' the doctor's body or ...whatever... in jodie's very last episode. it would've been a better showcase for jodie whittaker, and accomplished the same basic plan, if somehow HE regenerated into HER, and jodie got to play both the doctor and the master. ah well, because...
i really liked the old doctor cameos! I was not spoiled for it at all and i thought it was very sweet, especially giving five+tegan and seven+ace their moments together.i'm sure the actors appreciated a chance to be together too. just nice :) and i love my man eight lmao... king
also the mishmash outfit of all the past doctor outfits was cute
i thought the "tag you're it" line was a cute ending line! (although it would've been better if she regenerated into ncuti ...lol. i'm sure it was written and acted long before they settled on the 60th plans so i guess it can't be helped.)
the big downside to me was: yaz and thasmin
thasmin isn't a ship i'm invested in personally but i did start watching again after they canonized yaz's feelings in EOTD because i was like oh, how far will the show go with this? and the answer is apparently "nowhere". LOTSD felt totally unresolved and then we just never brought it up again. i can live without a kiss or a happily ever after, but when you've spent nearly a year patting yourselves on the back for a queer doctor/companion relationship, only to not do the barest minimum to address it, that's fucked up. why canonize your accidental-by-admission subtext if you're not going to DO ANYTHING? sorry to the shippers who really got jerked around by this show for no reason.
and then, even setting aside that irritation, the most egregious thing of all...
yaz's exit. just absolutely flabbergasted they did yaz/mandip so dirty that they didn't even TRY to come up with and articulate a reason for her to leave. ludicrous!!! she spends her whole time swallowing her feelings for the doctor's comfort and that extends all the way to leaving because the doctor kicked her out with nary a hug? what the fuck? one of the longest running companions ever and this is the sendoff she gets, kicked out because the doctor decides, sans explanation, she "needs to be alone" to regenerate despite having regenerated with many companions prior? lmao... yaz sweetie i'm so sorry. she doesn't even get to give the speech to the companion support group. my god. martha jones you need to call her up immediately

I can't remember if you've said it before, but are there specific reasons behind Akari's team in oop? Typhlosion because that's her starter, but why slyveon and an alpha luxray? And is there a reason behind her starter choice? I think the way people choose the mc's team is interesting, and yours seems like it might have been planned out, given that you specified she only has three because she's a researcher more than a battler. P.s. I hope Rei keeps that porygon, it seems so eager, like it wants to be useful really badly! I liked that the reasoning behind its inclusion was because it's from the future and is used to humans instructing it in battle. I found that very nice world building and a clever solution to Rei's dilemma
oh this is a good question!! yes i have thought about it!! and actually this is sort of tangentially related to the other topic abt competency levels.
what i mean to say is like, akari is a modern trainer with modern trainer knowledge, but she's not, like... a pro. she's not choosing for strategy. in hisui she's really going through what a kid on their gym challenge goes through, in building up her first team and all, except akari also is, like you said, doing research more than battles, so she keeps her slots freed up for the pokemon she's researching.
and on that subject, luxray and sylveon actually are (or were, really, they're now official Permanent Team Members) long-term research subjects. both of them are intentionally ones you can pick up very early on, because that's the time when she would have been properly building up her team, and by the later areas she already had it set.
sylveon is here because eevee has these super funky evolution patterns, and laventon was like, ok, new idea, try to NOT evolve this one and let's see what happens. so she kept it on her team but avoided exposing it to anything like a stone that would trigger one of the known evolutions. and then it stayed with her team through the fieldlands and part of the mirelands questline (i haven't fully settled yet on where it evolved exactly, i mean it could have been anywhere really given how much grinding the game lets you do purely via research, but i think it was maybe the fortunes battle?) and then wow! surprise fairy type!
and laventon went WHAT IS THAT, because sylveon are exceptionally rare in the wild and really require a trainer bond to appear. although pla merged the requirements mechanically, psychologically it's a different sort of "friendship" to the kind that they form with another pokemon or a more hands-off partner like the clan leaders.* so she kept it to study how it performed in battle. and also because she loves it lots and lots. (*out of universe, i think sylveon is also apt because it contrasts with the teams of eeveelutions the leaders have in their later fights, notably neither of which include a sylveon.)
luxray, otoh—and here i was sort of kicking myself for a while for not making it kricketune, because that would have been such a nice canon plotline tie-in, but kricketune's pla moveset is also actual ass so it's probably a good thing i didn't—but luxray is the first alpha akari ever caught. and, quite possibly, the first alpha anyone had ever managed to tame at that point. (er. anyone in the galaxy team. they did not know about ingo then.) she caught it as that luxio you find on the way to floaro gardens, by being very sneaky and also very lucky—she went after it half because it was an alpha and they wanted an alpha specimen, and also in hopes of helping zisu out, bc she was worried about having that alpha so close to jubilife but couldn't take it on herself. (cyllene was mad at akari for A While for taking that risk, altho very quietly.)
then akari kept luxio because lav wanted to see more of how the alpha phenomenon affects pokemon beyond augmenting the physical size and strength, and what of those effects persist after the red-eye frenzy dissipates, for example, they know moves they don't learn in the wild! what's up with that?? and alphas are very likely to respect and like the people who catch them, and irida sort of hints at why in ch11- being frenzied is an awful, terrifying experience, and they know that the person who caught or battled them into submission was the reason they're free from it. if you let a pokemon go after defrenzying it, it'll forget fairly quickly, but since akari kept luxio on her team, it instead formed a trainer bond with her. and it was a beast when she caught it, and that hasn't really changed, it's her strongest physical attacker. it evolved first out of the group, i think.
as for cyndaquil... honestly, out of universe, this was mostly process of elimination. cyllene already has oshawott for the swordsmanship thing, and lav has rowlet on a vibes basis. in universe, i think cyllene also picked up oshawott as a partner before akari got there, since it's now a dewott and evolution doesn't happen in a day (unless you are a protagonist going apeshit on dex tasks, but this is not really canon progression, it's slower than that in reality.)
akari's real reason for picking cyndaquil specifically, tho, was probably mostly empathy, bc unevolved cynadquil are lil balls of needles and shyness, and she was sort of like, y'know i'm also very scared of The World and want to curl in a ball and shoot flames at people. i think laventon offered her a partner more as insurance for her first ever outing than imagining it would be her permanent forever partner, but for the aforementioned reasons they bonded super fast and now are inseparable.
cyndaquil's evolutions are another thing i haven't 100% settled on, but i think they happened at important canon moments—the fight with kleavor for the first, and then... i'm not sure about the second. it could've been lilligant, i suppose, but i could also see it happening at some later point to space them out a bit more. (i could even see it happening during the ingo fight, lmao, altho probably more for some future fic than as going canon.)
...oh god that got long. oops. uh. yeah you could say i've Thought About It. re: the rest of your ask lol, yeah i also really love porygon!! i'm not gonna ramble on bc this post is too long already and you basically hit everything i would say already, but YEAH i think their inclusion/existence in pla is really fascinating and they make for fun characters. so. yes! porygon is gonna be a going thing!

Okay, SO. This is a long and highly speculative ask that could potentially make sense to answer after 6.14 airs and we know more information, but right now I'm going off of spoilers from the early release. Eddie ends the episode single and open to dating but not actively dating. As far as I know, he didn't yell, "I'M STRAIGHT!" during the episode. And sadly, that is the best possible outcome that I could imagine from a writer like Nadia and a showrunner like Kristen.
What I've seen others continue to worry about - and have worried about myself, if I'm being honest - is that Marisol returns and since Eddie is now in a "good place"for dating, he will choose her (although I think this is a somewhat unnecessary storyline to show that he is in a "good place" because it wasn't like he was in a "bad place" generally to date after Ana...he just didn't want to date HER, which I thought was the entire fucking point of that storyline, but I digress).
Marisol's actress' captions was, "I don't know if it's out yet so I can't quite say but I just love when I work." We know that she posted it in late March. People fixated on the "it" as meaning one episode. And if that's true, I'm just very confused how she wouldn't know if her episode was out?? Especially if she was going to be playing a fairly significant role in terms of Eddie dating?? And if she's coming back in a later episode, like 6.17 or even the finale, how would she not be aware of the much later airdate?? I realize I sound a bit unhinged with the question marks, but the actress has been in the business for years and doesn't seem like an idiot. It just struck me as weird!
The other view of this, which is more negative, is that she meant "it" by "the news that I'm going to be returning to the show." Maybe she assumed that the show or her agent was going to release that information and she was waiting for the "okay" to say more. Her posting that selfie at Fox around the filming of the finale could support that theory that she's gearing up for a more serious role as a love interest (hence making the "it" being "the return"). Again, this is negative, but I don't know if I'm reading too much into what "it" means here because I find it unrealistic that she wouldn't know when her episode comes out...
ALL of that said, it's possible that she did film for 6.14 or even an earlier episode and her scene got cut (hence why she deleted the picture)? Maybe the episode WAS supposed to end with Eddie choosing to date her, but they decided to nix the scene. It would make a lot of sense because Nadia was the one who created her character.
Honestly, I'm going to need a leak or something about this character because every time I see an anonymous ask or theory about Marisol...the suspense of where this is going for Eddie ... AHHHH! LOL. What are your thoughts??
Well, it was good to wait until after 6x15 to answer this because we know from the synopsis guest cast list that she will be back in 6x17. I'm fairly certain with the lid they have kept on any of the women around Buck and Eddie, that she was probably told not to say anything. That pic she posted was, unlike her other ones from 6a, not on set or in her trailer or in costume or anything, it was just her outside a studio that 911 fans happened to know is the one 911 uses. Most people wouldn't have been able to pick up on that so she probably thought it was safe to post but of course the whole thing blew up and that's likely why the pic was taken down. We know the pick that was posted of L was also taken down when that sparked some backlash as I'm sure the show didn't want anyone to know she was back on set. No one really knew anything about Natalia until the synopsis came out so that was kept pretty under wraps too and ONLY really sparked talk because of Aisha's live where that name came up (and we all saw Oliver's reaction because he KNEW what fans were gonna do hearing he was going on dates).
IDK what the plan is for Marisol if it's for more than one episode or not, but this late in the season I'm sure it's all just testing the waters to see how the majority of the audience responds to the character so they can plan out season 7. I personally don't care where it's going because I'm never going to like or praise or accept the show throwing random women at Buck or Eddie at this point. They already both had THEE breakup where they did the thing they needed to do (mostly) with Eddie putting himself first instead of what he thought he had to do for Chris, and Buck being the one to walk away instead of being left again (even if he only did it because someone else got hurt and not because it was what HE needed to do for HIMSELF because HE was miserable, but that's on KR for fucking up that storyline to push L and not ending BT back in 5a 🤷🏻‍♀️). At this point, it's all just a repeat of storylines while they try to find women that will stick with the audience which to me is just bad storytelling from a bad showrunner. Not that I don't think they could make it work out in the end and give some reason for Buck and Eddie getting growth out of it. Hell, fandom has come up with plausible explanations by the droves! I'm just not sure if the show WILL, because Kristen has proven herself to be spiteful and doesn't see Buddie at all, and unless Timmy comes back and takes the reins or someone else takes over I just see this endless cycle continuing to the end of the show and Buck and Eddie being single so they can throw out the tired PR line that it allows all fans to be happy and see what they want in that relationship which is another way of saying they refused to commit one way or the other because they're cowards. 🤷🏻‍♀️
