i think ingo generally has a reputation in hisui for being very humble abt his skill with pokemon (bc 99% of the shit he's doing doesn't even register to him as something noteworthy or impressive) except for this one time when he just casually said "well if it were an even fight i think i could defeat god in single combat" and then continued on as if that were a normal thing to drop into a conversation. irida lives in fear. why did he sound so confident. what the fuck did he mean by that.

other reason i think her and ingo work really well together in terms of extended surveyfam is that they are kind of perfectly equal and opposite in this. cyllene is an unstoppable force of a fighter and an unyielding leader except she is also secretly a lil bit of a dork. ingo's very good-natured and kind of silly by default with all of his train puns but then he is also terrifyingly competent which catches literally everyone off-guard the first time they run into it. perfectly balanced as all things should be

i'm such a big fan of laios using being well fed as proof that he's serious. like there's so many techbros & etc who will use not eating breakfast as proof that they're productive & just in general, the idea of being "too busy to eat" is getting more common (which is exactly what toshiro is doing here!) but laios is like. no. i'm so serious about this i'm thinking about what comes next. i'm so serious about this i'm making sure my body can do everything it can when i need it.

other shb thing i think about a LOT is the immediate post-innocence aftermath.

and i mean the IMMEDIATE aftermath. bc like, when you wake up, you're not STILL in the arena. they moved you. and it's not like they could teleport. which means they definitely had to backtrack down the mountain and through that crowd of people who were all so excited to see them win, like, half an hour ago.

and from the pov of those people. i mean like. they were all feeling pretty good about themselves i bet. especially the eulmorans bc what a great way to kick off their new "not being dickheads" routine, but all of them must have been kind of basking in the afterglow of that cool moment of all working together, all of norvrandt coming together, and now they were all just waiting for that to pay off. and it very nearly does! for a moment they see the light flicker, catch a glimpse of that lost beauty of the night sky—

—aaaand then the light comes back.

arguably more interesting to me than the fight itself is that everyone else in both parties just leaves laios and shuro to it. even maizuru, who usually fusses over shuro so much, is just like SIGH. how childish. and goes back to helping with body retrieval/revival and basically ignores them. did the people they revived keep going "uh, why is there so much yelling from that direction" and the others go "nah don't worry about it we're just letting them work it out. just don't go that way they'll wear themselves out eventually. here have a snack."

not to keep beating this dead horse (jk when do i ever shut up) but i do think him and laios yelling at and beating the shit out of each other was like a gateway drug for shuro. he broke the seal on saying words out loud with his human mouth now he can say other crazy things like "thanks for following me cross-country to go dungeon diving for me i appreciate you doing that"
