Fiber Arts Update Time!
Oh boy, where did I leave off last time?
OH, RIGHT.
Fine Merino yarn has been plied
Tumblr media
(I figured out how to cross-thread yarn while plying so I can use the hooks on both sides of the flyer; I can still only get maybe 40g of plied yarn onto this tiny bobbin, but that's still better than 30g, barely)
Tumblr media
(I deliberately over-plied this quite a bit! I figured with how soft the singles were, I had some leeway until things got too ropey, and that worked out pretty well)
and wet-finished
Tumblr media
(by fulling; five minutes of hot water, five minutes of cold water, aggressive thwacking. This yarn has to be sturdy when it's done!)
And the end result is amazing
Tumblr media
Best yarn I've made so far, hands-down. Springy, squishy, incredibly soft, but substantial and sturdy. I'll have to make a batch for myself at some point, too.
Next step: the dye pot! Once I stop being a chicken about it, anyway.
Also, remember this stuff?
Tumblr media
My amazing crocheting friend (for whom I'm also making the white merino yarn) has gotten around to turning that stuff into a shawl!
Tumblr media
This isn't technically the first wearable made of handspun that I have - I also made one single fingerless glove months ago, as a test - but it's still beyond exciting to see such a big project fully finished.
Next project: more purple glitter merino, for a headband for my mom.
Also, found a prospective Tour de Fleece project: pride flag colored merino for a Pride Flag Virus Shawl. Crochet friend is on board, all that's missing is the fibers and some math.

There are two kinds of shows that contain queer characters, what I’ll call type A: explicitly queer shows watched almost exclusively by queer people (The L Word, Queer As Folk, Lip Service); and type B: mainstream shows with LGBT+ storylines (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Orange Is the New Black, Sex Education). Type A shows seem to be dying out, a byproduct of queer people (or at least gay people) becoming more widely accepted. Type B shows, while symbolic of positive change, risk being tokenistic, depicting, for example, a “gay best friend” character within an otherwise straight cast. A League of Their Own falls into a new, third category: like type A shows, it has an ensemble of queer characters, rather than just one or two, but like type B shows, it is marketed at a general audience. There are, by my count, at least nine named queer characters in A League of Their Own. This means that, as well as some of the best queer love stories I have seen on screen (I defy anyone who watches this show not to fall at least a little in love with D’Arcy Carden, as bizarre as that may seem to those who know her as Janet from The Good Place), there is also an abundance of queer friendship in the show. Jacobson and her co-creator Will Graham understand what the creators of the shows Pose and It’s a Sin also understood: that LGBT+ people do not live – have never lived – in isolation. We have always sought each other out and formed communities, and good on-screen representation of queer people shows that.
my newest mission in life is getting everyone i know to watch a league of their own and this guardian article does a great job of explaining why

Watching the entire credits of games can be annoying, but how else would I learn about the extremely valid dev with cats named FitzChivalry and Beloved. I see you. I do not know who you are, but I see you and appreciate your cats (and you, of course).

(Red Hood cornering Cluemaster)
Red Hood: Damn, Arthur, today is not your day.
Cluemaster: Really? You? Of all people it had to be you?
Red Hood: Last time we met it wasn't pretty. You made a spoiler pretty sad, so I made you sad. I heard you got out on good behavior. Then you go around and do this! You're really disappointing the kids! Including yours!
Cluemaster: I know Stephanie is the one in purple, so I know that she doesn't care.
Red Hood: Fair. It's actually good you know, makes this whole arrest easier and way less awkward.
Red Hood:
Red Hood: So, you *do* know that I'm dating your daughter then, right?
Cluemaster: You're WHAT!?

The amount of times I have rewatched episode three of Scott Pilgrim is absolutely ungodly
Like, that Ramona and Roxie fight scene with all the different films?? I have NEVER seen anything like it and I love it so much it's probably now one of my favourite moments from any animated show ever

The baby goblin must have slipped from his arm.
Pix had only been a ghost for a little over a month. Though it was surprisingly easy to get used to this new state of un-life, there were still some things that he couldn’t quite get used to. Sometimes, the items and materials he was holding sank through his incorporeal arms and hands. It took quite the concentration to hold something, and when he wasn’t particularly focused, it was rather easy to.
Since fWhip got the crown, he’d asked that each of the rulers adopt a baby goblin. fWhip even personally came over to the ancient capital to deliver the little goblin to Pix, asking him to be very careful with the little fellow.
The goblin king couldn’t have come at a worse moment. Pix was in a distracted mindset, preserving and renovating the castle on the hill. The ghost took the child onto his arm – curious little fellow, clearly intrigued by the translucent form of a man. He made sure to position the child in such a way that they wouldn’t easily tumble off of his arm, and he continued with the renovation project.
Even in un-life, he was focused and absent-minded. Focused to his project, absent-minded to the rest of the world. Only his one task mattered – one ghostly advantage, though, since he no longer passed out in the middle of an excavation or only remembered to eat when he was actively starting.
That same day, while he was scaling and repairing the roofs of the entrance hall, he discovered that baby had gone.
Pix glanced down, but it was too late. The fall itself was not that tall, but for a fragile goblin child it was too tall. He wouldn’t be able to even tell where the child had fallen, and wouldn’t be able to find him. Goblins scattered into rocks upon death. From the rocks they came, and to rocks they returned. The child was long gone.
So why did he still hear upset baby goblin noises coming from below him?
Pix glided down, past the roof he had been trying to reconstruct.
A little translucent baby goblin had crawled to where Pix had left some tools. The baby was trying to grasp at the pickaxe, but their small hands phased through the wood. They were growing more and more frustrated that they couldn’t grab it.
Pix raised an eyebrow at the sight. Well, that was interesting.
The ancient capital had always been a strange place; Pix could have sworn he saw ghosts wandering about before he’d become one himself. The best example was his ghost cat. It had become easier to pet the cat since he was a ghost, and he found he could pick up the baby goblin without issue as well.
They  reacted to the touch with delight and nuzzled up to him. They grabbed his ghostly finger and did not let go, happy to finally have grasped something.
Pix sighed and gave the little goblin baby a sorrowful smile. Looks like they would need to make it work and get to renovating the castle together.

This is a scene from one of the best things I’ve ever read, book or fanfic, Blind, But Now by aperplexingpuzzle on ao3 (currently @ghirahimbo here)! I cannot recommend this story enough!
If a legend is a regal and intricately woven tapestry, hung on a distant wall, then BBN is that tapestry up close. It takes the legend and lets you see the threads, lets you feel the texture. Every knot, every spot worn smooth over time. The story sees both the original image and the pieces that make up the image. It looks at how the journey weathered the tapestry, looking at the broken threads, the frayed and discolored spots, and sees an image made all the more beautiful because it doesn’t just tell the story of the legend but the story of the tapestry.
This scene really gave me such a deep, almost physical feeling of the heat and immensity of the region. It stays with me and is one of the first scenes that comes to mind when I think about the story. I was hoping to catch a little of that, plus the overall feeling of their encounter, that edge of potential. Potential danger and potential.. something else.

Whilst there are some fans who are questionable, props to the Saiki k fandom for not being a bunch of weirdos, there are some fandoms where almost all the fans are weirdos, or at least the Tumblr side.
Saying your opinion on some characters can cause an argument, but in comparison to *cough* other fandoms *cough* it's honestly pretty chill.

There’s something about the fact that in session 2, the first person Pearl ran into was Scar (who was having a bit of a spat with his own soulmate and came up with ideas to torture their soulmates) while the first people Martyn ran into was Impulse and Bdubs (the most happy and lovey-dovey soulbound pair on the server). Then Pearl ended up going a little crazy, thus straining her and Scott’s relationship further, while Martyn built the Bleeding Heart Bastion and ended up coming to somewhat civil terms with Cleo.
There’s something about how the first people they ran into after the “breakup” sort of influenced (or foreshadowed) their actions, leading to them having rather different relationships with their soulmates despite starting off relatively the same.
