One thing that gets me everytime is that Stoick would have absolutely LOVED Zephyr. And Nuffink of course but I have this weird feeling that he wouldve doted non stop on Zephyr specifically. She wouldve been spoiled rotten by her grandfather, taken everywhere on top of his shoulders or the crook of his elbow. He would be reading her stories before bed. He would have learned to braid her hair and sat down with her on tea parties. He wouldve gone with her troll hunting. He would be there for her and her brother in the way he never got to be with Hiccup because the times were different now and then. He would absolutely be her best friend and Im SAD they never got to meet.

Four days ago, Bisan posted about organizing another Global strike after she miraculously survived a bombing around the hospital she is currently sheltering in. The strike is from January 21st to the 28th as a way to show support to a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. To support the strike those who are organizing are asking that you:
Call out of work/school if that is possible
Avoid spending any kind of money anywhere and if that’s not possible just spend as little possible until this strike is over
Email and call your representative to tell them you are striking for Palestine and what you are doing to strike
Use your social medias to talk about Palestine as much as possible
Talk to friends, coworkers, and family to try to get them to participate as well
Go to marches and other forms of protest if you are able to
Try to stay home as much as possible if you cannot participate in marches or any other kind of physical protesting
Remember that doing something is better than doing nothing when it comes to the strike. If you can’t get out of work or school try doing other things on the list for as many days as you can.
Here are the posts from Bisans Instagram account about the global strike:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[image description: the first image says “Global strike week, 21-28 January! CEASEFIRE NOW!”
The second image says “After my survival with a miracle tonight while being stuck in the hospital until now, it's time for this to end! It is justice against injustice and good against evil! It is a war against humanity and the world, not just against Gaza! Here, We are now all under bombardment and are at risk of death at any moment! And you can make a difference!”
The third image says “We civilians across the world do not have the tools of war! We do not thirst for killing and death! We only have our throats in the demonstrations and our boycott of the economic movement in our countries, especially those that support the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza!”
The fourth image says “Strike from the economic movements, work and your normal life because nothing is normal in this life! Strike as much as you can and protest.. for a whole week or until this madness ends! You can disrupt the economies that support genocide and make your voices and our voices heard! Call for strikes during the next week for an immediate and permanent ceasefire!”
The fifth and final image says “We are human beings like you. We had beautiful cities, many lives and dreams. They were destroyed in front of you and are still being destroyed. You can make a difference and stop this genocide. Do not despair and continue until the ceasefire.” End ID.]

some informal thoughts
hello! hope the holiday season has been kind to all of you. and i hope all my jewish followers had a lovely hanukkah! anyways, since i said a few months ago that i’d pick poetry smackdown back up sometime around this time of year, i thought i should make a post. the gist of it is that i’m still quite busy, i have a break that’s about three weeks shorter than I was planning on, and i don’t currently have the mental bandwidth required to read, contemplate, and sort through poem submissions in a way that does justice to them, even if i were to recruit some friends to help out. since running a tournament format requires at least five weeks of continued engagement once it’s underway, and since i’m not at capacity to offer that right now due to the change in my schedule, i’m gonna have to bow out for now. sad bc i was looking forward to it!
my hope is that i’ll have some more time over the summer to hunker down with it, in which case you’ll be hearing from me. it’ll frankly depend on the kind of job i land in for the summer, but i find that my unemployed spirit can typically keep me doing stupid shit regardless of workload...to a point. i don’t want to make any promises because i don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up just to let them down again LOL. i do admit the amount of exposure the first tournament got has made me feel like more of a perfectionist this time around, doubly because i don’t feel that i’m very suited to being a public online presence (even a relatively quite small one)—i’m bad enough at responding to emails for my own real life responsibilities, let alone tumblr asks for the silly responsibilities i invent for myself lol. that’s not to say i no longer want to do it, or i don’t enjoy it, or even that i don’t feel capable of making a really interesting bracket—just that if i am working to put something new together, and if people are taking the time to submit poems they care about, then i don’t want to half-ass it.
my second admission is something like this. I made the original bracket as a celebration of poetry and our relationships to it. yes it was silly and competitive, and the poems were very tumblr, but still, celebration was the intention—I wanted to have conversations about poetry. I stand by the bracket format as a fun and valuable way to foster conversations about poetry, but truthfully, the poems i’m wanting to have conversations about right now—the poems that we should be talking about right now—are ones that i'm not comfortable putting in a bracket. I reblogged The Baffler’s Poems from Palestine collection on here earlier, and Najwan Darwish’s “Who Remembers The Armenians?”, which I still often find repeating through my head when I'm traveling from one place to another, walking home or riding the bus. I came across this beautiful thread recently where people have been translating Dr. Refaat Alareer’s “If I Must Die” into their own languages (this just makes my translator's heart sing!!!!!!). @havingapoemwithyou has been posting some great poems from and for Palestine as well—check out their tag here.
There's always more to add, and I'll be posting more on here as I come across it, but that's what I feel anyone should be focusing on right now when it comes to poetry. i think poetry can be an escape but it should never be a distraction. does that make sense? i wouldn't be against doing a one-off poll here or there, but it feels weird to be making a tournament for poetry right now, or anytime soon. i feel like what free time i have right now is still best utilized helping my friends with organizing in the real world. and god, a bit off-topic but while I'm talking, fuck poetry foundation—I have so much respect for all the poets keeping up the boycott, because while i think it's a simple decision, it's not always an easy one (Aurielle Lucier discussed that here).
anyways, if you read all of this, thank you for your time!! I could go on and on, but really this was just meant to be a message telling y'all that there won't be another tournament for a while lol. even so i'll be trying to use this small silly platform as best i can until palestine is free because that's the absolute least i can do.

A lot of what folks have been emphasizing about the BDS movement (which is an acronym for: boycott, divestment, and sanctions) is that it is NOT meant to be a quick or temporary solution -some BDS movements have lasted decades (South Africa being the first example I can think of), and I wanted to talk a little about this here because sustainability is an important element within this as well.
So, the top 3 that were suggested (and seems unanimous by lots of voices on social media) is McDonald's, Disney, and Starbucks, which have many agreed is a GREAT start because these are HUGE multi-billion dollar industries, whose profits margins are astonomical. There were 2 points I wanted to make into this post, and that includes:
When you're boycotting Starbucks, it means you're not purchasing their coffee beans/teas/tea concentrates/iced beverages/etc from stores as well. I listened to a person on tiktok talk about how Starbucks actually receives the most revenue from this, just a reminder for folks that's also included in this long-term BDS movement, ALL products from Starbucks must be boycotted.
Disney products, passes for the parks, Disney plus/etc are all included in this boycott, as I am sure you are aware. Anything Disney is involved in production-wise is as well. People have been talking about boycotting Snow White and the upcoming Marvels, for obvious reasons; this is just ANOTHER reminder to hit them where it hurts financially. Don't attend the shows -if you need to watch them later or even elsewhere (and I'm not suggesting anything specific per-say, but you know what I mean).
McDonald's seems self-explanatory, but finding alternatives to fast food and convenience items is key here as well.
And lastly, as I mentioned, SUSTAINABILITY is so important! Yes, we can always find a new local cafe or a coffee shop we like (or start making our drinks at home/find other convenience products to use), and sure we can find other fast food options while on the go or again, prepare a snack or meal in advance. We also can find other places to watch shows, to go out and find places to have a good time -but please, remember this isn't like 'when the ceasefire happens we go back to Starbs/McD's/Disney.'
It will include lifestyle changes for SO many of us, and there are plenty of other companies on that list (which includes Lo'Real, who owns a TON of makeup lines -so for so many folks, it's going to be something we find what works best for us -the key is not to get overwhelmed with these dozens of subsidiary companies and labels, but to focus on these 3 at first and then go from there).
Just a final reminder: please don't harrass workers at any of these stores/companies. They aren't alighing themselves with their company's values and statements, they're just folks earning money/an income like us and are navigating this shit just as much as we are.
I've been learning a lot from people who do research on BDS movements, and they can be effective, but it is something we must persist with.
Also, if you already have products from any of the brands listed, don't waste them. Use them, and of course go from there. You don't have to feel pressured to throw a hair product or makeup or coffee beans in the trash. This is about what you do AFTER using them up/and find something else hopefully with a brand that doesn't support Israeli apartheid and colonial violence.
Another huge area we must tackle is BIG TECH, especially since a lot of children (but of course this includes EVERY Congolese person) are being used to mine the Cobalt that is used to make laptops, phones, tablets/etc. They are doing this with THEIR BARE HANDS in the heinous of conditions in the Congo, and are paid terribly -every aspect of this 'work' is a form of modern enslavement.
There are ultimately many things we need to do, and there are steps that have been given by so many amazing Creator's talking about these issues, so with as much solidarity as possible --do your research, support brands/companies that stand by people being oppressed by imperial/colonial forces because this doesn't end until we are all safe, and free from violence.

Hi! Just wrote out a message and it didn’t send so this isn’t as concise the second time writing lol
So I read the post where you said companies participating in boycotts were working towards making a difference/impact on the current situation by putting pressure on Israel. You mentioned ben and jerrys specifically and I ended up looking it up and saw they cut ties with providing services or their products to “occupied Palestinian territory” (they got the term from the UN).
My question is, is this actually making an impact? I have a bit of trouble with reading comprehension sometimes so I wanted to make sure I was reading the post correctly!
(I’m a Vermonter and pay pretty close attention to what they do as a company. They’re really vocal around here about civil rights and human rights etc and I’m always curious to see if they’re living up to their talking points. They have a black power mural on the windows of their main location in my city. haven’t been down there in a while so it could be gone but I always thought it was cool that they are so vocal about rights issues)
Hey thanks for sending this in, no worries! I saw a few people confused as well in the notes of that post.
I remember the Ben and Jerry's campaign — a couple years ago there was a BDS campaign against them because they had a factory/distributed sales in occupied territories. This means that this is internationally agreed as Palestinian land, but Israel still builds settlements on it. Part of the focuses of BDS is to target companies on settlements, especially with the hopes that, at the very least, they will remove them, cutting the income from settlements. When companies build on settlements, more Israelis are enticed to move there to work, thereby speeding up the displacement. It won't affect the Palestinians as much because these companies on settlements are not "Palestinian," they are "Israeli," and they directly only benefit Israeli citizens.
So it has a twofold affect: 1) it stops encouraging Israelis from moving onto stolen land and 2) it prevents Israel from profiting off of their settlement.
Ben and Jerry's is no longer on the BDS list — they have agreed not to operate within settlements and only operate within Israel's "legal" borders.
So it does make an impact! It might be a bit slow at first but every company makes a difference in this case. BDS is targeted based on what the highest level of success will be (like what happened with Ben and Jerry's) and if the company commits particularly heinous crimes against Palestinians (like how HP aids the surveillance tech of Israel to spy on Palestinians) and therefore need to immediately divest. In the case of HP, the goal is to disarm the surveillance system.
It would be neigh impossible to focus on every single company that has relationships with Israel — so we want to focus on the few that will make the most direct impact rather than the many that might be difficult to find replacements for.
This is a very quick and dirty overview but this is generally how the boycott works. I would suggest checking out bdsmovement.net for more info honestly! The founder also wrote a book about it.

From my understanding the new voices for the four 02 characters in Kizuna ended up very well received - especially Daisuke. Do you happen to know how the Tri voice cast was received in Japan?
From what I remember, it was about as good as you can expect. Voice actor changes done when the original voice actor is still accessible tend to be inherently controversial (even with the 02 quartet, they still were), and at the time, it wasn't formally revealed that Fujita Toshiko had actually been approached and declined due to poor health (it had to be kept a secret at the time on her request, which, according to Seki, put the tri. producers in a really awkward position). But most people were able to figure out what happened just by logical inference: some of the voice actors had retired, and the rest were swapped out for "consistency", especially since the Digimon voice actors were retained while the kids' were the only ones changed out. Some people did argue that "you could have at least gotten the ones that weren't retired!", but I think most people got it.
So, putting aside the people who were trying to stage a boycott over it or something:
I know Tamura Mutsumi's performance as Koushirou was particularly well-praised (this was before she ended up becoming super famous in the industry, since she's now really popular), and because of that quite a few Digimon fans were thrilled to hear her as Hiro in Ghost Game. It's probably the tri. performance I've consistently heard the most praise about, including even rave reviews from people who otherwise disliked the series itself.
There were people who said that Hanae Natsuki's timbre for Taichi was too distracting (on top of him not sounding much like Fujita at all, he was already a really famous voice actor by that point, so everyone recognized him as "Hanae Natsuki" too easily), but even those people all said that his actual acting ability as Taichi nailed his personality very well.
Hosoya's Yamato also got good reviews, which is interesting because he was also already a famous voice actor by this point, but I think it's because his timbre already enough in common with Kazama's that it didn't feel too weird.
Ones people were kind of iffy on were Mimi (although this also had a relationship with the way she was written in tri., I noticed people had fewer issues with her in Kizuna), Takeru, and Hikari (this one may be partially because both voice actors ended up breaking out into the industry shortly after in very different kinds of roles). Although this one I admit there might be some bias; I personally also think these were the ones that feel closest to miscasted to me, so maybe there was some confirmation bias from me noticing when others talked about it...
While we're here, in regards to the 02 quartet, Daisuke (especially Daisuke, dear goodness) and Miyako are generally well-received, but people tend to be more iffy on Ken and Iori. In the case of Ken, though, when you have the incredibly legendary Park Romi as his original voice actress, and when his new voice actor is Lounsbery Arthur who has his own distinctive voice, reputation, and fanbase, I think you were inevitably going to get some kind of complaint of uncanniness in some direction somewhere...

note: this account is run by pro-Palestine, pro-boycott, pro-reunification 2015 Korean ARMY. if you believe you know more about Korean history than Koreans, or that we’re BTS antis for supporting the removal of Zionist Scooter Braun from HYBE, please unfollow and block. you are not welcome here. common sense would tell you that you can choose not to boycott certain facets— check the priorities list, found in the boycott info link further down. priority 1-3 is recommended as the easiest/least you can do to help the cause— but going out of your way to put down and harass others for boycotting while also protecting Zionists, using Zionist propaganda/attacks/language against them, de-platfoming them, and constantly twisting their words and narrative to make them seem like they are “out to get BTS” is appalling and that kind of action makes you a Zionist. we do not accept or applaud any of the disgusting behavior other “ARMY” have been committing towards people of color, pro-boycott, pro-Palestine, and Palestinian ARMY in the name of “love” for BTS. you do not know what love is, you are obsessed, severely misguided, or downright evil and you sure as hell do not love or respect BTS as humans, nor do you genuinely listen to the messages they preach.
human before art, moral before mindless consumption. thank you for reading.
here’s more info on how to join or help in the cause, because Zionist affiliation is the last thing I’d ever want anyone to think about when they hear the name BTS. this fandom has been so brutal towards ARMYs wanting a safe space for all, constantly attempting to silence them, so please join the fight and protect our Palestinian ARMYs from hate, as well as BTS from being associated with Zionists. and read this caard from a human view, not from a stan view. this is real life and real ARMY have been brutally killed. boycotts work and were not made for comfort but for liberation, ask any poc, just follow Palestinian ARMYs leads and do not speak over them. do not tell them how to organize a boycott surrounding them when they’ve shown over and over again that they’re more than capable of doing so. remember that we’re guests in this fight, and our comfort is not the main focus when Palestinians are being ethically cleansed. this caard has all the information you need, do not allow people to convince you that this is an unorganized effort, and do not let people fill you with misinformation. for example— do not listen to twt user yunkiluv627 when their account shows that they’re vehemently an anti-boycotter using their platform to spread the “anti” narrative and harass anyone who so much as THINKS about Palestine. use critical thinking and do genuine research, whether that’s getting in contact with the organizers, or asking someone in the community. they are always ready to help you out if you have genuine questions or concerns. this isn’t some fanwar, this is a genuine movement being attacked by people who can’t differentiate life from stan culture. please be human and join in any way you can:
this is the least we can do to make Palestinian ARMYs feel safe in our space. though this may require building whole new safe space, as MANY MANY “ARMY” have shown that they are Zionists in and out and would rather Palestinians and anyone who supports them leave the fandom altogether— which is very odd sentiment… and if for some odd reason you need BTS’ opinion on the situation to appeal to your moral (instead of just caring about not having modern day n*zis in our spaces out of humanity), please consider that namjoon, jimin, and taehyung have shown their support multiple times in the past for Palestine and their liberation. yet they’re people in the fandom that want the cold hard opposite despite it being simply wrong and stanning a group that is all for the rise against oppression and hate. how are we listening to the same group? shame on you for the bigotry you spew and spread all in attempts to silence/keep a group of abused people down. you’re nowhere near normal, you’re abnormal.

The American Constitution embodied the patriarchal assumption, shared by the entire society, that women were not members of the polity. It was felt necessary by the founders to define the status of indentured servants, persons "bound to Service for a Term of Years, " and of Indians in regard to voting rights, but there was no need felt even to mention, much less to explain or justify, that while women were to be counted among "the whole number of free persons" in each state for purposes of representation, they had no right to vote and to be elected to public office (U.S. Constitution, Article I, 3). The issue of the civil and political status of women never entered the debate, just as it had not entered the debate in Aristotle's philosophy.
Yet women in large numbers had been involved in political actions in the American Revolution and had begun to define themselves differently than had their mothers and grandmothers in regard to the polity. At the very least, they had found ways of exerting influence on political events by fundraising, tea boycotts and actions against profiteering merchants. Loyalist women made political claims when they argued for their property rights independent of those of their husbands or when they protested against various wartime atrocities. Several influential female members of elite families privately raised the issue of women's rights as citizens. Petitioners of various kinds thrust it into the public debate. Unbidden and without a recognized public forum and emboldened by the revolutionary rhetoric and the language of democracy, women began to reinterpret their own status. As did slaves, women took the preamble of the Declaration of Independence literally. But unlike slaves, they were not defined as being even problematic in the debate.
The well-known exchange of private letters between John Adams and his wife Abigail sharply exemplifies the limits of consciousness on this issue. Here was a well-matched and loving couple, unusual in the wife's political interest and involvement, which would find active expression during her husband's later term as President when she handled some of his correspondence. In 1776 Abigail Adams urged her husband in a letter to "remember the ladies" in his work on the legal code for the new republic, reminding him that wives needed protection against the "naturally tyrannical" tendencies of their husbands. Abigail's language was appropriate to women's subordinate status in marriage and society—she asked for men's chivalrous protection from the excesses of other men. John's reply was “As to your extraordinary code of laws, I cannot but laugh. . . .” He expressed astonishment that like children and disobedient servants, restless Indians and insolent Negroes "another tribe more numerous and powerful than all the rest [had] grown discontented." Chiding his wife for being "saucy," he trivialized her argument by claiming that men were, in practice "the subjects. We have only the name of masters." A problem outside of definition and discourse could not be taken seriously. And yet, for an instant, John Adams allowed himself to think seriously on the subject—her code of laws, if enacted, would lead to social disorder: "Depend upon it, we know better than to repeal our Masculine systems."
Here we see, in its extreme manifestation, the impact on History of men's power to define. Having established patriarchy as the foundation of the family and the state, it appeared immutable and became the very definition of social order. To challenge it was both ludicrous and profoundly threatening.
At the time Aristotle defined the rightness of slavery, the issue of the humanity of the slave was debatable but not yet political. By 1787 the founders of the new republic had to recognize the humanity of the slave and deal with its denial as a controversial political issue. The statement that the slave may be fully human yet for purposes of political power distribution (among the masters) may be counted as only three-fifths human and not at all as a citizen, was so profound a contradiction in a Christian nation founded on democratic principles that it made the end of slavery inevitable in less than a century. But for women nothing at all had changed in terms of the debate since the time of Aristotle. As far as the definition of humanity was concerned, they were still defined as incomplete and marginal, a sort of sub-species. As far as the polity was concerned, they were not even recognized sufficiently to be coddled with the sop of "virtual representation." The issue defined as a social problem can enter political debate and struggle. The issue defined out, remains silenced, outside the polity.
This ultimate consequence of men's power to define—the power to define what is a political issue and what is not—has had a profound effect on women's struggle for their own emancipation. Essentially, it has forced thinking women to waste much time and energy on defensive arguments; it has channeled their thinking into narrow fields; it has retarded their coming into consciousness as a collective entity and has literally aborted and distorted the intellectual talents of women for thousands of years.

So in my old school in kolkata, there was a girl. Let's call her Indu. So when I joined this school, the class teacher had told the class about me and my brother because we were the first and the only twins to join the class. Naturally, all the girls said hi and talked to me and told me about the class and the students.
Indu was dark skinned, wore specs and sometimes combed her hair in very unique hairstyles that made one question: How on earth do you do that and come to school.
But anyway Indu befriended me, gave my school notes just like the others too and helped me out for the first week of school.
Cut to grade nine and ten. Now we all were fair skinned girls. Half of them were think and had good figures too which made them attractive and boys had no problem talking to us. And colourism is still deeply rooted in us that the guys made fun of Indu and the girls just rolled their eyes or avoided her path. Indu would get annoyed easily and she had her own family problema tok which she had solely shared with me and I understood why sometimes she used to have angry outbursts. Like imagine a 14 year old with whom nobody wants to be friends because they are dark in colour and don't look nice and pretty plus the classmates openly boycott you too. So sometimes she used to answer back in anger, but she never did that with me or my brother.
In the tenth grade, I don't know why the boys started this trend of calling her 'cancer'. Each morning she would enter the class, they announced, "cancer is coming. Bey cancer aarhi hai jaldi chal" And by chance if any boy saw her before coming to class they would groan and say that aaj din kharab jayega. They would also gag and make sounds when she raised her hand to give an answer to a question.
Now the girls wouldn't engage in that openly, but they would sideline her or just smile in front of her for two minutes and walk away. I remember one time she was sitting beside me, and in front of me the girls were signalling me to leave her and sit with them. Each time I talked to her, they would joke, "indu toh is your best friend now, isn't it?"
My close guy friend too called her Cancer and onetime my brother stood up and asked him what has she done too you so bad that you need to call her cancer. He said, she deserves it because she is rude everytime.
I was silent. I couldn't take any stand for her even though she had helped me out because I didn't want to lose my friendship with others. During picnic and children's day parties, we all would est together and joke while she went alone to the food counter and got her food. Some girls out of pity called her just to be 'nice' to her but behind her they made fun of her sparkly stone pink dress.
There was a dance competition I was supposed to take part in, but I couldn't. She was performing on ghoomar and had dressed exactly like rani padmavati. People in class were whispering all sorts of things yet she walked with her head held high. I could never tell her that she really good in that lehenga.
Anyway she was among the best students in our class too. Now that I live in isolation with no friends, though my situation is still far better than what she had to face because I have never been mistreated, I feel bad that I couldn't do a single thing for her. If I were in her place I would dread coming to school knowing that people see you as a curse each morning. For me, all my friends have gone ahead and found their friends and stuff in uni and I feel that I am good for nothing and I am bad at everything. Thinking about her makes me think that what strength she must have had back then to still come to school and perform well in class.
Anyway she got her good friends in 11th and 12th. She had changed her school I think it was Mahadevi Birla girls in kolkata and now she is here in Kiit bhubaneshwar. I am sure that she is really going to be a very strong individual in life and I really hope that she becomes so successfull so all those people in class who made fun of her literally go silent.
The other girls I remember they would sing those songs which mean everyone is beautiful, scars, colour weight doesn't matter, yet they treated her this way, and I am no good too because knowing it to be wrong I could never call them out.
They post stuff like inner beauty and stuff but do we really believe that? Do they really believe that?

It's Eurovision this week, yay!
So... remember a few years back when the contest was hosted in Israel, and the Icelandic BDSM punk band held up a Palestinian flag to the camera? I saw different takes on this afterwards. Some people were saying this was an empty, meaningless gesture, and if the Icelanders really wanted to support Palestine, they should have boycotted. Others, however, were saying that Palestinians enjoy watching Eurovision as much as anyone else, and this gesture made them feel seen.
I was thinking about this again recently, and I tried to imagine how I would feel in this situation, if I lived in an oppressive country that wanted me dead and was hosting Eurovision. Suddenly I realised, wait a minute! I don't have to imagine this. I do live in an oppressive country that wants me dead, and it happens to be hosting Eurovision this year!
That said, I don't really feel those situations are quite the same. I don't live on occupied territory; British trans people are still full citizens (well, I'm not, since I'm an immigrant, but trans people born in the UK are). While it's quite correct to call what's happening to the trans community here genocide, we're not at the stage where we're having our houses bombed.
But, yes, the UK is an extremely transphobic place right now, and the BBC is complicit in this by amplifying transphobic voice and silencing our community and allies. So, if a country or band decided that they're going to boycott Eurovision this year to protest the UK's transphobic laws and the BBC's transphobic policies, I'd totally respect that. But to tell you the truth, I'm still going to watch the contest. Because I find it fun. And if I saw someone waving a trans flag in support, that would probably make my night.
Obviously, this is just my opinion, and I don't speak for the entire British trans community. Other trans people might feel differently, and that's totally fair.
Also, don't assume that this means that I'm okay with people buying Harry Potter merch. There's a difference between watching a programme on the state-owned network of a country with transphobic laws, and giving money to a billionaire who funds hate groups.

I stopped categorising myself as a "Swiftie" or a "fan" when I noticed silence from her on so many important things, she should've spoken on (obviously, her choice; still). i got into her because of a few songs on 1989 (I was in the 7th grade and it was considered really cool at school if we'd listen to English songs. Everybody started with taylor) and then I got back to her when reputation came because she was everywhere - it was quite inevitable and attractive. I stuck through lover because I went through my first heartbreak (I was 15) and most of the songs on it spoke things to me I needed to say to myself. All too well made enough noise I had to check it out. Again not most songs on red, except the mainstream ones. I didn't get into folklore and Evermore right when they were dropped. I stumbled upon "August" while I was in a situationship in 2022 summer and yk i had to just explore. College started I made friends with a girl and she was a hard-core Swiftie. Speak Now, Red, all that stuff. I had to act like I was one as well so that she doesn't make me feel condescending. Now we aren't friends anymore. And I'll agree the Swiftie fandom is kinda delusional and intimidating (saw it first hand). Midnights was okayish for me, but my earlier choices remained the same (folklore, lover). I had proud hopes from TTPD because I'm an english lit major (and a really proud one as all of us should be). I was ready to start fresh and go feral. Haven't been able to wrap it all up - I mean it's like 31 songs on it. I make edits on these songs on my ig to make myself remember which song is which - what lyrics belong to which song and at the end of the day, which song i like - same reason why I post lines from her lyrics here on my tumblr. The purpose of this rant is to know about all the boycott blondie movement that's going on. I'm genuinely curious. I'm using the tag because I want y'all to give your views. I'm also scared of giving her up entirely because I've already detached myself from her personal life and i like her songwriting. I only relate to her art. So do enlighten me.

“dSmP fAiLEd bC dReAm diDn’T knOw hoW tO rUn hiS oWn sErVer 🤓☝️”
qsmp was made for the purpose of becoming big and popular. the dsmp was not - and it was never meant to be as big as it was. dream made that server so he and his friends can hang out in minecraft
unlike quackity, dream never had a whole team to help him run the server. he didn’t have a bunch of mods, he didn’t have fans sign up to promote the server for him, he only had himself and callahan. dream didn’t have a team for content at all period. no editor no thumbnail artist - it was all himself. he was editing his and the dream team’s videos up until last year.
also unlike quackity with the qsmp, the dsmp was NEVER dream’s number one priority. he had manhunt, other youtube videos, the dream team’s videos (to conceptualize, code, and edit, mind you.), a merch company to run, george’s visa application, music, mcc, etc.
the dsmp failed for the same reason usmp never got to start: harassment and hate from other ccs’ communities. need i remind you of the “drop dream” and “boycott dsmp” hashtags? the threats to him, his friends, and his family? dream himself said it’s the biggest reason why. the people faulting him for ending the dsmp are the same people who pushed him to do so.
another reason dsmp failed is because of loreheads and freak stans who would cry and whine about every single artifact and mob on that server - further demotivating old and new members to play
most members of the dsmp also had other content to prioritize, such as irl content. dream is not the sole cause of everything that happened on the dsmp. (it’s also just funny how back in 2021, lore got pushed back so hard cause lockdown was being lifted and dream did not complain a single time. but once dream had face revealed, got 10 times busier, had been traveling, had internet issues at home, and had JUST MET his best friend of 7 years for the first time, people [ccs and fans alike] suddenly wanna cry about lack of communication 🤷‍♀️)
dream actually does know how to manage a server, despite *certain* people’s negative biases. he was involved in a lot of the lore writing, especially with wilbur and tommy (another instance: he agreed to be involved in ranboo’s lore out of the blue, even while he was doing his main arc with tommy - and if you were actually there, you’d remember it went really well). he used to hold meetings with other members to discuss lore. it has been mentioned before that dream would hold open forums and discuss terms of the server which had always ended in agreement. he also set specific and fair rules - which i’m sure everyone forgot about - and was unbiased about it (ex. punishing george for tping to where he died to get his stuff despite being his best friend). he also catered to other members’ needs (coding ranboo’s enderman powers, giving hannah her elytra back after it was stolen and destroyed, giving foolish his immortal powers). there’s so much more to say here but you get the gist: dream is a natural born leader and it showed while he was running the dsmp
dream actually already had prior experience when it came to running servers. he was literally the co-owner and a developer of munchymc. if you read that reddit comment from velvet complimenting dream on how well he handled issues in munchy, then ikyk
you can insult dream about a lot of things (i'm lying, you can't actually), but to diminish his work ethic and skill in general is what pisses me off the most - cause i have never seen a public figure this dedicated to his job no matter what hurdles are thrown at him. he has done almost everything by himself with minimal help - and did so with grace. he’s never complained about being swamped with work, is always open to *constructive* criticism, and most importantly of all, he has never, ever, shit on someone else to earn his spot on the top.

Been in a slump for the past 2 days due to the BB Hot 100 clusterfuck.
As a Jimin-bias I was saddened and disheartened by the opps that Jimin face.
Its been a roller coaster since he releases SMF pt 2 where ppl were shading on his autotune. But fortunately it didnt show up much on my TL. Hence I wasnt too bothered. Anyway for me the song resonates more than LC so at my age I dont really care about other opinion but my own for important things. People will have different preferences and you cant expect everybody to like what you like or hate what you hate.
And then the 10s encore happened. To be honest when I first watched it. I cringed and dread pooled in my stomach coz I just know he is going to be dragged over it. Nevermind the stunning performances he delivered in Musicbank. But he shut up the haters again with Lee Mujin accoustic performance and I was over the moon again.
And then Billboard Hot 100 happened and I literally cried while holding my phone and posting to twitter and stationhead because I was streaming there. Couldnt sleep even though it was a working day after that night.
Anyways the takeaway here is that. I know its cliche but I also need to remind myself that Jimin knows he's love by many. More than the hatred hes receiving. The fact that he tears up during the live after BB 100 also is a testimony how it was so unexpected & moving for him.
Tumblr media
We came down and moved on too fast from the #1 BB Hot 100. It should be celebrated more. I was reminded yet again that Jimin is the first Korean soloist to achieve that title in the last 6 decades where competition is intense and GP is bombarded with new content every other day and where content is heavily curated for the GP to consume. So lets not dim the light from that achievement.
During all these chaos, I remember a saying...
The greatest light cast a long shadow.
As much as I hate all these shades thrown on Jimin... A publicity good or bad is still publicity. & Jimin will become more popular, well known because of it. We as his supporters just need to share more of the good stuff so GP dont misunderstand him or receives the wrong perception.
Tumblr media
But I have faith in Jimin because hes known to break boundaries and delivers more than what is expected of him. He never overpromises and underdeliver. He always slay and perform.
Actually know BTS since 2018 but didnt become a fan until Sep 2022. Jimin was the one who hooked me from ON MV with his blue hair and just great dance performance.
I can just binge on his Lee Mujin performance. I do think he needs to release that accoustic versions to streaming platform. Its such a waste that I cant listen to it while I sleep. His voice is a lullaby for me.
I guess the whole point of this blog is to remind myself and everyone out there that we need to celebrate more on his #1 BB 100 rather than focusing on the negative.
I was thinking that we can do a legal recourse with regards to how blatant the discrimination against Jimin is. But other than signing a global petition to boycott BB, cant think of any other way. But this discrimination against a colored and non US artist and how Armys rallied and use different platforms to support Jimin is actually the first ripple of a stone drop in the lake. It might takes away relevancy of the ruling platform like YT and chart like BB.
After all consumer doesnt like being treated as fools. Im pretty sure even non-army who saw the blatant discrimination if they are rational will also see that this kind of monopoly is not good in the long run.
Changes always start small and then ripples to become waves. I believe in Jimin. I believe in BTS. I believe in Army. Lets pay the positivity forward.

Got jury duty coming up? What better time than now to learn about the extremely cool and good things you can do on that jury if you get empaneled? (because learning about them after you've been empaneled is a crime)

Not sure I'm the exact right person for this oral history, but since the birdsite is imploding and advertisers might fucking try some shit over here it's a good time for all of us to remember everyone's favorite meme: "John C Miller, CEO and President of the Denny's Corporation, is a Capitalist Running Dog and his wealth must be seized and redistributed to the people”
Back in '16 or so, Denny's had a reasonably large presence on this site, from a non-artistic standpoint it's fair to say that whoever was running that blog did a pretty good job of keeping up to date on the current memes and staying relevant. Many of us, myself included, kinda just got used to them being here and let it happen, gave it little thought, maybe gave it a chuckle from time to time. At some point someone was like 'actually it sucks that a major corporation is trying to hang out with us and be our friend, they were, of course, absolutely right, and their genius response was to create a meme that they couldn't fucking coopt, hence "John C Miller, CEO and President of the Denny's Corporation, is a Capitalist Running Dog and his wealth must be seized and redistributed to the people" became the fun new thing.
"Coopt this you old so and so" was the idea and it worked pretty well, they did try it, but in a way that clearly was dancing around the central premise everyone knew they wouldn't be able to engage with. They stuck around for a little while longer, but it was clearly a major turning point in their ability to use this site to hang out with us, a good thing.
The point, as advertisers try to find new, less feral places to spend their advertising budgets, is that we don't have to just ignore them, that's a good start, but we can bite their fucking hands if they try it. We do not have to play nice with advertisers trying to be our friends, we can be feral.
Anyhow, I definitely am not positive I've gotten every detail right, so if there's any major corrections anyone needs to add, feel free, memedoccumentation had a post about it that helped me refresh my memory although my analysis of aspects differ from this point in history, as it were, but if you want to read up a bit more this is a solid starting point that has some fun examples

Happy 13 year anniversary (July 25th 2022) to the last time the United States raised its Federal Minimum Wage! In an astounding and unacceptable transfer of wealth to the already wealthy, it's lost a full 27% of its purchasing power since then!!

hey... pssst... hey guys
remember when nexstar was first announced, and nobody here even knew wtf that was until one salty cancelled author flung misdirected blame about their show's low rating performance, and suddenly, everybody was chicken little and the sky was fucking falling, when none of you would have ever fucking blinked if she hadn't thrown said misdirected tweet?
yeahhhh. i remember that.
I remember mentioning AARP ads jokingly, but once all the news articles started dropping and similarly pointing at the senior demographic, which Nexstar DOES intend to employ heavily on daytime and certain days-- I was uncomfortable.
you might remember me saying like, everyone writing this is white, huh. you're missing the AA demo. whether you call that african american or all american. When the boycott nuked out their major shows, AA hung in there at the top of the game in the real numbers that actually sell high value ads, 18-49. And before CW, well, it used to be their goddamn airspace. Of course they're gonna keep watching their black entertainment and not give two fucks about upset white people doing upset white people things.
like. i distinctly. remember. saying that. like guys. everybody's forgetting the black demographic. Guys. [breaks out megaphone] HEY GUYS JUST. I'M LETTING you KNOW. YOU ARE MISSING SOMETHING IMPORTANT HAPPENING
but! some article opinion piece and salty author! Clearly this is all very clear insight and in no way white people with blinders on to this entire fuckin. It's literally called Studio City, and it's only like halfway done being built and heavily used by any big dog network you can think of.
Nexstar is just as signed into the assembly at the end of the day, sweethearts. I kept warning you. I kept fucking pointing that you were ignoring the important shit. I kept posting this shit. But like. IDK. almost EVERYONE in the fandom blank disregarded it, if it didn't boil down to an argument on if an angel and a lumberjack would kiss or not.
you wanna talk reputation battles, the titans have been slinging while everyone else pees about dean being bi on twitter. good work. i literally was up there on a fucking megahorn telling you what was going on and even then your white privilege blinded you fuckers, especially idiots willing to listen to absolute mental vacancies pretending to be in the know like 2p0

Recently (the 19th) was the 12th anniversary of the Delena motel kiss and I'm feeling super nostalgic. I remember 2 days before there were Canadian fans who claimed to have seen a clip "Why don't you let people see the good in you?" scene and within 24 hours later there was a Canadian promo that spoiled the Delena kiss and Julie tweeted "Dear Canadian promo people, what the fuck?" There was a weeks long break before 3x19 and the promo for it right after 3x18 while not spoilery was exciting and it was promoted as a Delena episode. The promo had the soundtrack "Turn it Back" which doesn't make sense for Delena since it has the lyrics "Turn it back to the days when you were mine." There were Stelena fans threatening to boycott after the kiss leaked lol. Because of the motel scenes in the promo I couldn't hold my excitement and would constantly lurk on Julie and Nancy (TVD editor for 3x19)'s Twitter for potential spoilers for weeks. The producer's promo for 3x19 before the kiss leak had Julie start smiling when she said the episode would be about Elena exploring her feelings and that it's just awesome. There was a spoiler that a Florence and the Machine song was featured but most fans speculated it was "No Light No Light." I miss the Delena fandom back then, but I was more of a passive bystander before I stopped watching for years, but wish I was active back then because the fandom now drains the enjoyment of being in it. There were people speculating Delena would have sex in 3x22 since there was a spoiler hinting at either them or Caskett but it ended up being Caskett. The Damon met Elena first spoiler was leaked a day before the finale but most fans thought it was a fake spoiler. I heard some fans on the now nonexistent official TVD forum (which I unfortunately never saw) convinced people who worked on the show to leak scripts to them so they could read it before episodes came out. I do remember during season 4 someone said someone they knew told them a Delena sex scene was being filmed and that person thought it would be 4x4 but it ended up being 4x7.
I honestly wish I watched the show as it aired because that was the moment I knew she was Damon's girl. I would've been posting on Twitter all week long in my support of their inevitable Delena ship. Damon's response to Elena's question is insane because he's straight-up telling Elena he doesn't wanna disappoint her, and he's saying this while laying next to her in bed with his shirt completely unbuttoned. Damon is leaving the disappointment to Stefan, put it that way lol. Stelena fans should be more pissed at the scene as the full episode airs than when the kiss is leaked because it's not just a kiss, it's a surrender. Stefan's girlfriend is gone. imo, she's been gone as I consider 3x5 her un-fall, consider both Stefan and Elena ghosts in Ghost World. The repeat is necessary.
"But it's not real. She's dead. Gone. Everything that you're holding on to is in the past, Jer."
"A Japanese lantern is the symbol of letting go of the past. Well, here's a news flash: we're not Japanese!"
Interesting how fans considered No Light, No Light by Florence + the Machine as it speaks to the end of a relationship and more from Stefan's pov. When the Light Dies Out by Christel Alsos is perfect for Delena's car ride home. Their track for Stelena's 20s dance is from Stefan's pov. I would've laughed my ass off seeing that promo with the "Turn it Back" soundtrack. Had I watched the show as it aired and saw the leak, I would've guessed the right soundtrack for Delena's kiss based on 3x10 and 3x11. I expected Elena to be fully transitioned in 3x22. While I could see her sleeping with Damon at the motel, you can't rush perfection. I wouldn't have considered the flashback of Delena in 3x22 as a fake spoiler for the same reason Stefan met her before he met her. They didn't just know of her existence. They both met her at some point based on their pilot comments. They had to show Damon's pilot comment, and they did. Stefan first meeting her needed to be as it was because they already spoke of how he saved her from drowning. It's through Stefan's own comments that fans had to know Damon met her before their car went off the bridge. Had Damon met her after their drowning, Stefan would've known he was home and likely stayed out of Elena's life for the sake of keeping Damon out of her life. They can't have Stefan stalking her, yet have him know nothing about her meeting Damon. OMG, I'm so glad they didn't do Delena's sex in 4x4 because I really love their college party dance scene. It's great to see Elena have fun with him before she has sex with him.
