Since Sarevok is under the spotlight of my attention right now, I feel like sharing my favourite companion banter form the original games where he realises he has made a horrible mistake in asking to travel with his siblings and their friends:
Sarevok: "Ranger, turn your rodent's gaze another direction! I will not be scrutinized as though by some ridiculous divining rod!"
Minsc: "Boo is an uncanny judge of character, but you... you give him trouble."
Sarevok: "I shall give him more than that if this continues! I nearly conquered a nation! I will not be judged by a creature that stores nuts in its cheeks!"
Minsc: "Food storage aside, Boo controls himself far better than you do. Do you see him ranting about mere glances? Let's look."
Sarevok: "What?"
Minsc: "There, you see? No rant. In fact, right now we see him snuffing about for a comfy place to sleep. Admirable restraint."
Sarevok: "I'm still in Hell, aren't I? This is insanity."
Minsc: "Ah, finally a calming look across your face. Boo's handiwork, no doubt. Doesn't that feel better?"

I don’t think it’s too late, but it’s about five seconds away from being too late. If Congress doesn’t act hard and fast, these seven people will turn America over to corporations and megachurches.
We have to stop this, and the only way we have any chance at all is to turn out in massive numbers this November to overwhelmingly defeat the people who will put Project 2025 into action.

Well, this shooting would have played out much, much worse in that hypothetical scenario. The killer, of course, doesn’t care what law Bloomberg and his pals pass, so he would have stormed in with a gun regardless. But Wilson wouldn’t have been armed.
Assuming the police are minutes away, and considering that the gunman shot two people in just a few seconds before being taken down, it’s likely that several dozen people would have been shot before police arrived.
This is the outcome Bloomberg basically just said he would prefer.
And by saying that only police should have guns, Bloomberg is no longer hiding behind calls for so-called universal background checks or assault weapon bans — he’s openly calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment. If we needed another reminder why we should never elect this wannabe tyrant as our president, well, he just handed us one.
Reminder that both this shooting and Sutherland Springs were stopped by the proverbial “good guy with a gun”. The Sutherland shooter even owned his gun illegally, because the government screwed up his discharge paperwork.

do you even comprehend how much BETTER it'd be if Gortash was returned to the House of Hope, and you then realize that he did all of this, was willing to sacrifice the entire world, just to free his own sorry skin? a swaggering smooth talking wannabe tyrant, who's just a terrified child deep down, selfish and hurt, and unable to heal because he's still trapped in the House of Hope in every way but one?
do you understand my brain is far more powerful?
you can have a villain who's still a villain, but their motivations make perfect sense. you can have a villain with nuance, who does the wrong things, but because they're desperate, because they are a cornered animal, trying ferociously to survive.
it would've been soooo much more personal and dark and meaningful to visit the house of hope and see how awful it is there, and then understand why Gortash could not allow himself to ever return.
and that being the reason he sought after power and Bane?
ugh. transcendent. but god forbid Gortash be a complex character.
also god forbid he have really feelings of affection for the dark urge!
the one person who might be able to understand... being trapped. being beholden to forces outside of your mortal coil. not having a choice, or control over your own body and soul, and blazing your way forward, eyes ahead, so as not to be crushed by the weight of your servitude.

Just assuming Durge and Gortash would've succeeded in their plan and ascended to godhood themselves.
What the fuck would they claim as their domain? I mean its 99% gonna be part of the death domain, because of course, its them. But Tyranny is already taken, as is death itself and the dead. Murder is off the table, so what would Durge be? God of natural death? Seems to merciful to me, rather unfitting for durge. The God of the process of dying/decay? That one I could see, the old god of that portfolio is supposedly dead itself and given the whole worsening memory, taint taking over bit Durge has going on.
But what about the wannabe tyrant? Artificing and tyranny are taken, as is hate or vengeance. The devils have their own God too. He could take over ambition, given Gale doesn't ascend himself it could work, but what if he does too? What would Gortash actually claim as his portfolio? The god of lingering resentment? Martyrdom?

In his farewell speech, Gen. Milley took an apparent dig at Donald Trump (a wannabe dictator) who regarded the military as his personal plaything.

We owe a debt of gratitude to Gen. Milley for remaining loyal to his oath during the dangerous Trump administration.
He has stepped down from his position on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. But his certificate of retirement (visible in the vid) indicates that he doesn't officially leave the US Army until the end of October. So after that he will be able to speak more candidly about Trump's attempts to undermine democracy. If he writes a book, it will probably be on the bestseller list in 2024.

I find it very disturbing how in every Team Green fanfic, Rhaenyra is constantly written as this sex-crazed maniac without a brain, and her sons are all temperamental little monsters hinted to be mad and Ramsay wannabes. Oh, and looking back on every Team Neutral fanfic I've read, Alicent is still the victim, batting her teary puppy dog eyes, and Rhaenyra is still the wicked witch who is spoiled. At the end of the story, Aegon or Aemond is crowned king, while Rhaenyra's sons are either disgraced, sent to the Wall, or worse. HOTD fanfics that claim to be Team Neutral but are still Green sympathetic are something else :/
The problem is that in order to position yourself as "Team Neutral," you kind of need to deny the fact that the Dance was about:
The battle of two ideologies (oath vs. opportunism) in the absence of codified law and a "higher authority." Where the side that claims 'tradition' can more accurately be described as weaponizing certain 'traditions' and biases for opportunism. A battle that concludes with the clear message of, that while oath and honour might not always be enough, that you need to be careful and cannot assume everyone will act under that worldview, that it's the understandings we make between each other that ultimately hold society together.
Patriarchy (and unjust systems in general) punish everyone within them. You're punished for cooperating, and you're especially punished for pushing back. And women like Rhaenyra have to push back, else they'd never see power. But it's impossible for them to push back in every regard because, unless they decide to go Fire and Blood and be labelled a tyrant, they are ultimately still subject to that system. And they'll be punished for any move they make. It's not that "no one is worthy of the throne." It's that the system itself is unworthy. And those are not the same thing.
The problem is, when you examine the story with those two themes in mind, the Blacks are more in the right. GRRM makes it clear they're more in the right. That doesn't mean it isn't complicated. That doesn't mean the underlying system isn't wrong. But there's still a clearly "better" position. It's also clear that Rhaenyra is punished by the unjust system far more than her brothers are, and far more than Alicent is — because Alicent (especially show!Alicent) often makes her own prison.
So the only way to be "Team Neutral," the only way to view it as a conflict where "both sides are in the wrong," is to erase those two very essential themes. And obviously, that's going to be to the detriment of the side that occupies the "high ground" in those themes.
And that's why you get these weird narratives that often play into the very injustices, the very attitudes that the story condemns. Once you erase that condemnation, it's very easy, too easy, to start contradicting it. Because forms of those injustices persist to this day, and they're all too easy to embrace.

Listen, I know I didn’t finish my bowser! Bakugou thirsting so this is that. I combined the first two posts and finished it off the way I was planning to in this and the other posts will be deleted
Princess! reader who tries so hard to care for her little kingdom on her own and needing to establish political allies to assure her peoples success and safety.
Who only puts up with that wannabe knight/warrior who makes a better plumber than protector only because he’s adored by her citizens and despite his clear and persistent advances she pretends not to notice so she doesn’t have to acknowledge his feelings.
Bowser! Bakugou who’s known as a tyrant conquer outside his own kingdom reaching out to build an alliance only for the good reputation it would bring to promise such a small kingdom his protection.
Bowser! Bakugou who’s absolutely taken with the pure perfection that is the Princess in her finest formal wear, moving and speaking with a grace that’s so foreign for the brutish king.
He sees a flicker of something in her eyes when she looks up at him, taking in his beastly appearance with an awe that seems more like intrigue than fear. Though maybe he’s projecting, after all he can’t help but note her plush body he deems perfect for carrying his children, how much smaller she stands with her lips being roughly at level with his navel. He wonders for a moment if she could even take him and his knot. Wonders if she’s sizing him up like he is her.
Bowser! Bakugou tries to ignore his thoughts though, he knows this is just lust. Simply pure carnal attraction that acting on could ruin their negotiations.
He has no clue that the little princess finds his large sharp teeth to die for, wonders if those horns are sensitive or just bone and how they’d feel in her hands when she’s holding on to them for dear life. If she gives him a chance of course.
Princess! Reader is clever though, enjoying a walk around her castle with him and covertly flirting in disguise of awe and adoration of his willingness to work together, but when he takes it at face value she actually makes the first move.
Bowser Bakugou simply doesn’t know what to do other then assist when she asks him if he wouldn’t mind helping with getting out of her garments when she tells him stay the night and continue talks in the morning.
He’s practically drooling at how compliant she is letting him undress her slowly and explore whatever flesh he uncovers
Laughs when she pauses, wide eyed and flustered when she pulls his clothes off to return the favor and is confronted with very in human anatomy.
Before getting flustered himself when she tells him she has to put it in her mouth just to see what it tastes like.
He’s floored by her eagerness and bravery? Honestly he’s not sure what to call her actions except for sinful
Princess! Reader is addicted almost immediately. He’s so different from human men. She can just barely take his length into her mouth and her hand can’t even close around his girth. But he tastes so good, almost like a sweet nectar and she thinks she get hooked on this.
Unfortunately for them, bowser! Bakugou isn’t very good at keeping his voice down. It’s hard when you haven’t had head this good in, well never until now. He’s sure of it.
By morning the whole kingdom is certain he’s planning on taking her as his queen even if he’s gotta kidnap her. No amount of “I invited him! I initiated it!” Will convince her court save for handful. After all, their beloved hero told them all what he’s overheard!
Princess reader just must by under some sorta spell!
But both are unwilling to stop their affair so they keep at it in secret. At least until she can get rid of that pesky plumber, if he’s still around nothing will change

Gen. Mark Milley used his final speech as Joint Chiefs chair on Friday to emphasize that troops take an oath to the Constitution and not to a “wannabe dictator,” days after former President Donald Trump suggested the nation’s top officer should be put to death.
In an impassioned speech during his retirement ceremony at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington, Va., Milley spoke of the continued bravery of American service members and underscored that the oath they take to protect the Constitution encompasses “all enemies, foreign and domestic,” emphasizing “all” and “and.”

I know it’s not a big focus you want, but will there be more flashbacks to when Bill was younger in future chapters? The worldbuilding for his funny shape dimension is really fun and intriguing to read through!
I can’t find it, but that one bit of writing you did where Bill pushed someone (I think it was his mom?) repeatedly into a corner to try and make them look up, killing them in the process— haunts me.
Oh yeah. Ohhhh yeah. Ohhohoho yeah. Oh yeah. OH yeah. There's gonna be more flashbacks.
You're referring to chapter 15! The next flashback is in chapters 40 and 42—a direct continuation of that event.
And then another in 43 and 46-ish—I'm calling this one "the eclipse."
And there's some not-quite-flashbacks about his youth even sooner; the first time Bill talks about his dimension in the present day is chapter 29 or 30, just a little bit ahead of where we are.
There's even more I've plotted but don't have assigned to chapters yet, including the big one: the burning of his dimension.
When I say I'm trying not to focus on irrelevant stuff in his dimension, what I mean is stuff that's irrelevant to Bill's character's arc—like, how shapes reproduce. Shape reproduction had no impact on his story. 75% odds he was a virgin when his dimension burned.
But I'm eager to share the stuff that IS relevant: the events, people, and culture that made him into the heartless hard-partying god-powered wannabe-tyrant he is now. Info in the flashbacks will shape how the story ends and recontextualize earlier scenes. The seeds of many upcoming flashbacks have already been planted in the chapters you've read.
