“You’ve been on your phone a lot, lately.”

You almost jump when you hear Biho’s soft, sleepy voice behind you. He looks at your device with curiosity, not judgment. Never judgement.

It’s much too early for Biho to be awake. Being a young night goblin, Biho is rarely up in the morning hours.

To be fair, you’re rarely up this early either. But since you had started playing Mystic Messenger again, you had taken it upon yourself to get a perfect run, with no missed chats and calls. That meant that you had set several alarms throughout the day to warn you of new chatrooms opening and that you woke up at 8:00 sharp out of dedication for your 2D crush.

Since you were already up anyway, you decided to read through the chat while eating breakfast.

“Are you editing photos for your Wannabe?”

He asks, taking off his round glasses to rub at his eyes, trying his best to look more awake.

“No.” You say, a little embarrassed. There were a few photos for a sponsored post you’ve been meaning to edit, but you put it off after your last fanfiction binge. “I… Actually need to get started on that.”

“Oh.”

Biho looks a little surprised at your admission. He’s used to you being dedicated to your account and being careful about managing your sponsored posts. Maybe modelling wasn’t what you originally wanted to do with your life, but you always made sure to give it your all anyway.

It was strange for you to put off something that important. He looks more alert, now, looking at you with clear worry in his soft features.

The sight fills you with guilt. You know the constant alarms sounding off and you being on your phone (and being so protective of it) is incredibly suspicious. It hasn’t been that long since you were being attacked by another model’s fans, after all, and your seemingly endless string of bad luck could only signal something bad happening and you not wanting to burden your housemates with your latest troubles.

“It isn’t anything bad! I promise.” You are quick to reassure, and his expression softens. “I’m just… Addicted to a romance game. I’ve been looking forward to the updates and I lost track of time.” You quietly, and just a little awkwardly try to explain the game mechanics to him. It takes him a bit of time to fully grasp the idea of a chatroom-themed visual novel, but it piques his interest the second you explain it as an interactive romance novel.

Your explanation turns to gushing as soon as he asks about the cast. You make sure to go to the app’s gallery to show each character as you explain their personality and role in the story.

“...And right now I’m trying to get 707’s good ending. He’s by far my favourite character!” You click on his section of the gallery. Your phone takes you to a loading screen, so you decide to continue gushing as the progress bar on the screen slowly fills up. “He’s so well-designed! Really, he’s my ideal type. And I adore his personality. On other routes, he acts like this jokester who doesn’t really take things seriously, but if you pursue him romantically you find out he’s much more than that. He just uses humour as a front to avoid getting too close to other people and— Oh, the screen loaded!”

You quickly loaded one of the images and showed it to Biho. His face darkens into a blush as he processes what he’s seeing on the screen.

Because the character you just showed him, and that you happily described as your ideal type looks almost identical to him.

He looks from you to the phone screen a few times, before you get worried and look back at your phone, trying to figure out why he’s reacting so strangely.

Then it’s like you see it too. Of course, one of the things that made you want to revisit the game in the first place was Biho reminding you of Seven, but you didn’t consider that as you gushed about how attractive you think Seven was, being too focused on your attachment to the character and distracted by your rambling.

Your eyes widen, and you try to figure out how to backtrack without making things weirder.

Then, Biho smiles.

A cute, happy, sleepy smile. He just looks so satisfied, so pleased. Like your little blunder meant the world to him.

You decide to put your embarrassment aside for a moment. There were worse things in the world than admitting you found your housemate to be attractive, and if made him so happy, there was no way you’d lie to take that joy away.

Instead, you look at this situation as an opportunity.

“Biho, how do you feel about cosplay?”

🔱 Poseidon just wanted to go back to his castle under the sea and finish his duty, not participate in this useless trial of Gods vs Humans, it was obvious who was going to come out on top

🔱 As he sat among his fellow deities, he ignored the words of his youngest brother, not caring what human was up next in Ragnarok

🔱 But, once his brother brought up the fact that Brunhilde had added in another human, one to replace one that had gotten into an 'incident' and how they were specialized to fight Poseidon and Poseidon alone, he began to listen more

" Older brother, are you alright with fighting this human? " " I don't particularly care, they'll end up turning into complete dust in the end anyways. " " Alright then it's settled, Poseidon will be fighting against that wannabe human! "

🔱 Gripping his trident with more force, Poseidon stood and began to walk out the door, as the meeting had ended

🔱 But, he couldn't help but let his mind wander during his walk outside of the arena and into a more secluded area surrounded by water, his nature element

🔱 What kind of human could be 'specialized' to fight him and him alone? What kind of trick was that Valkyrie playing?

🔱 Once he heard the announcement of Round 2's ending; Zeus winning against Adam, Poseidon had to admit, he was getting quite energized as the thoughts of that human began to occur once more

🔱 How strong were they? What were they if they could challenge a God, nonetheless the Greek God of the Seas? And, most of all, just who was this human?

🔱 As the voice of Heimdall entered his ears, Poseidon began his entrance, allowing water to spill out and eventually separate for him to walk through

🔱 Poseidon stood and glanced around at the lowlife beings around him, these puny Deities and Humans were far from perfection, so how dare they go against him and try calling his name laced in their worthless filth?

" And the human going up against this graceful yet destructive God is one that has had stories told about them for many years! A human who has been hailed as a heroine to the many who served with them during Japan's Taishō Period in the war against man-made demons! The Water Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps! And the human who was a key-instrument in saving millions of lives from the grasp of the former Demon King, Muzan Kibutsuji. It is my honor to yell the name of the one, the only, Y/N L/N! "

🔱 As the water began to expand and rush away from the entrance of the human side, Poseidon cocked an eyebrow lightly, nobody noticing, except for his eldest brother watching from his residence in Helheim

🔱 Where in Valhalla was this human?

🔱 All of a sudden, the sound of a sword being sheathed entered the many people in the arena's ears, alerting them. The only ones not being surprised being the human allies of Kojiro Sasaki, Soji Okita, and the eldest Valkyrie sister, Brunhilde

🔱 The water that Poseidon had summoned began to rush with the God's irritation, why was this human not showing their-selves? How pathetic were they?!

🔱 Then, without the will of the God of the Seas, the water calmed down with the tap of a blade's tip, which caused the God to turn around only to see a human standing at the foot of the arena with their blade out and touching the water's top layer with such delicacy of a butterfly's wings

🔱 Before he knew it, Heimdall had cleared his throat and croaked out a reply to this event

🔱 As the Nordic God spoke into his horn, you blinked at the God with nearly matching empty eyes, and he noticed how you held yourself, stiff yet loose, you must have fought many demons to get to the level of being a human worthy of fighting a God, huh?

🔱 Poseidon looked at you and twirled his trident before gripping it tightly, he was not about to lose to a human of all beings. But, he'd have to admit, having your cold eyes look into his was quite attractive

🔱 Maybe, since he'll win no matter what, he'll spare your life at a cost; that you become his and his alone. You were said to be specialized to fight him and him alone after all, what would make this any different?

Ready?

🔱 He was going to win this no matter the cost...

Expanding on Majima headcanon shit left in the tags on the weedman poll:

I love the idea of Majima running most of his businesses 100% legit. Like. Obviously he's got some shady shit going on somewhere but a) not the really gross kind of shady shit and b) he just has more fun running a business by the book, he likes the challenge and it tickles the shit out of him to watch the cops wail and gnash their teeth as they go picking through his books trying to find a petard to hoist him on and come up empty.

(he also likes to keep some legit businesses going to give his boys an honest job to fall back on in case anything happens to the family business, and also there's also the quiet satisfaction he gets from knowing Shimano hates all these goofy-ass business schemes his captain is always cooking up but can't say boo about it because those goofy-ass business schemes ALWAYS WITHOUT FAIL turn into a license to print money, but never mind that)

Which brings us to the delightful image of Majima giggling hysterically as he's carefully repackaging perfectly normal, completely unadulterated vitamin gummies and shit into teeny tiny ziploc baggies with cute glittery stickers on them.

He sells them as "edibles" and, crucially, never once mentions the word "weed." He never says a single weed-gummy-related word during the transaction. Just "yeah I got some edibles :) that'll be 5000 yen pls :) :)" and hands you two Gushers in a baggie. What? Did he lie? Did he misrepresent his wares? He certainly did not! They're edible, ain't they? That's all he ever said they were! QED, motherfuckers!

At least three wannabe stoners swear he's got the best fuckin edibles in town and it's all he can do to keep a straight face while he's "dealing" to them.

Summary: Niragi and the reader were both bullied and grew up together, eventually they bond and start dating. Now I'm making headcanons for you and him during this situation. There will be three parts, before, during, and after the Borderlands. It's set before the Borderlands.

Warnings: Mentions of sex under the cut

Before the Borderlands

Your relationship with Niragi started at a very young age, given the fact that you were neighbors.

However, you two didn't really acknowledge each other until you were a bit older, mainly in high school and all throughout university.

But the reasons why your relationship got stronger weren't exactly the best, you both got bullied, very often. First, they started bullying you and once Niragi tried to make them stop, they started bullying him too

The kids always found something to bully you about, whether it was Niragi's glasses, haircut, or your inability to catch sarcasm, it didn't matter, they would use it against you if they had the chance.

You'd try to shelter him from the bullying, putting yourself in front of him to take the hits and save him from it, but given your shortness and shyness not much could be done, it made the bullies laugh at your attempt to protect him, usually insulting his masculinity and so on, but he found it endearing, how you were willing to try to help him.

Eventually, you'd start bonding over this, and also your mutual love for dark humor and sometimes sharing your Intrusive thoughts

Later on, feelings of friendship became more and you started dancing around each other with something like love but not quite it, both of being pretty closed after all those years of abuse and bullying.

After a lot of time, he eventually confesses his feelings to you, which takes a lot of effort from him because he's not one to talk about emotions but he makes it work.

In your relationship there's:

Empathy and Understanding - given that both of you have been through the same pain and trauma you have a deep understanding of the possible fears of the other, this leads to you two having a very strong and supportive relationship

Shared identity - Being bullied together can create a sense of shared identity for the victims (yes, I read some articles about it to make sure that it's true), basically bringing a lot of comfort and validation

Desired sense of healing - (at least with real-world Niragi) Both of you desire to heal from the trauma and bullying, so you'll support each other to get through it

But you two also face certain challenges, such as anger issues, mostly from Niragi that you both try to work on so that he doesn't become agressive, or triggering moments or experiences (flashbaks or so) mostly for you, he tries to comfort you as much as he can.

During the Borderland

You and him were separated during most of this time, you were on the other side of the city trying to survive some of the hardest games, usually the ones including sports while he joined the Beach and became a bit more (a lot more) crazy than he was before, now that he didn't have you to keep his anger under control (not in a bad way though) he did whtever he wanted, not caring one bit if anyone got hurt.

You only meet again after Arisu's "Light Bulb" game, you had been hearing rumors about The Beach and how it was a wannabe paradise, so you and two other players who had become your friends tried to look around and see if it was a good idea to join or not. You ended up getting taken by the men of the Hatter (basically the same that happened to Arisu) in the end you convinced them so that they let you stay, sadly your friends weren't allowed. Obviously, the change of clothes is not very cool, and you start to feel exposed, more than you like, as you walk through the crowd you feel all eyes on you, which you don't like. That's until Aguni and his men come and suddenly all eyes are on them, of course, you look at them and you see this one face that seems familiar. Then Aguni starts his speech and all that, suddenly, Niragi starts calling out to the newbies to come meet him privately (like he did to Usagi) because we all know how he is. When he sees that you don't walk towards them (he hasn't recognized you yet) he gets closer to you and yanks your arm so that you get closer to him. That's when he recognizes you, and he is completely shocked, because for all that he knew you were long dead, so he's pleased to see you again, but he doesn't forget where he is or who he is, so he keeps up the act, takes your arm roughly and takes you to his room. Tells his goons to go away and finally you two are alone.

Thank you so much! :D As for more headcanons for those two, well:

• Their first impression of each other wasn't the best. Gladion thought of Selene as naive (like Hau), and while she was strong he underestimated her potential a lot. As for Selene she was wondering who this emo-wannabe who just insulted her friend was. • Of course that didn't last long, at least on Selene's part. She quickly caught on the fact Gladion was concealing a lot of kindness under that tough exterior, and that he wasn't that happy being sort-of part of Team Skull, and it was simply due to a lack of choice. The fact he was so worried about Cosmog and Lillie is what really made her like him. • As for Gladion, his genuine appreciation for Selene started when she stood up for him against Guzma. And I like to believe, if we take the "silent protagonist" part aside, that she had some strong words for Lusamine as well concerning her treatement of her children (even if she brushed her commentary aside like "Whatever, worm"). • After everything is over, Selene tries to visit Gladion at the Aether Paradise as much as possible. She also insist to help him clean up the mess left by Lusamine after he takes over (if we go by SM's continuity), and they also battle as much as possible to test their strength. Gladion slowly comes up to realize that, yes, you can battle AND have fun doing so. • He finds himself looking forward to their next battle together. Not to challenge his own strength like he used to, but simply because he enjoys having Selene around. That's when he realizes "Oh shoot, maybe I do like her..." Of course he pretends nothing has changed between them because that boy is emotionally constipated but you know who watched this same boy grow and who can quickly catch the subtle changes he tries so hard to hide? Wicke. • Wicke, who also likes Selene because she's been so supportive to both Lillie and Gladion, and who can see how much a positive influence she's on Gladion. So one day she approaches the boy after Selene left Aether Paradise et casually says "You know, you should take her on a real date some time." • And of course he'll deny everything, red-faced, because Selene is not even his friend and yadda yadda, but Wicke just laugh and simply tells him to at least invite the girl to meet him elsewhere than on Aether Paradise. She can handle the work on her own for a day. • That's how, one evening, Selene recieves a call from Gladion asking her to meet him in Malie City. There is no Pokémon battle this time; he just wants to see her and hang out. She immediately understand he's asking her on a date and she's like "FINALLY"! • BECAUSE ALL THIS TIME SHE WAS DROPPING HINTS SHE HAD A CRUSH ON HIM FOR ARCEUS SAKE! • Visiting Aether Paradise so often just to see him? Enjoying battling with him so much and telling him so? Helping him with some of the cleaning up because she wants to? Throwing compliments on his way everytime she has the chance? And he still didn't get the memo until now?! She's not mad but come on man! • Anyway that's how they ended up on their first date :)

My headcanons for each new (and the 2 ogs) default skin!

Sunny

They/Them

Tall and wide, they might seem a little intimidating at first but they are a gentle soul. Very mechanically inclined, Sunny knows the ins and outs of redstone like the back of their hand. They are very laid back, and regard others with quiet interest, never involving themselves in the quarrels of others and being the peacemaker of the group. Very close friends with Makena.

Their amputated arm is a result of having caught Withering in their younger years of traversing the Nether. The stump left behind is in a state of rapid necrosis and Sunny has made a truce with a local witch in order to get medication to keep the curse at bay. Sunny doesn’t like to go into the details of what occurred that made them end up with the curse, however they are more than happy to instead discuss the regular mechanical additions they make to their prosthetic arm, such as turning it into a makeshift Swiss Army knife, or replacing the hand with a large scoop specifically for collecting frog spawn.

Makena

She/Her

Makena has a bubbly and energetic personality, always keen to make a new friend and barrage them with questions about their botanical knowledge. She has a green thumb, and in her free time she’ll be either gardening or baking. She wears villager attire and has a lot of villager-like mannerisms (such as hiding her hands) - this is because she was adopted and raised in a village! She is fiercely protective of her villager family, and will hit you with a trowel if you so even attempt to threaten them.

She is also very fond of bees, and in turn, the local bees are fond of her.

Kai

He/They

A wannabe warrior, however his scrawny build and cowardice in the face of danger tends to stop them in his tracks. While he can be a bit emotional and short tempered at times, they, at heart, care deeply for his friends. Has a little allay friend called Pickpocket, who, hence the name, has a habit of thievery.

Alex

She/they

Tall and broad shouldered, with a large slit lip and a freckled face. Aloof and distrustful of anyone who isn’t Steve. Blunt and doesn’t really get social cues. Not the most talkative person (when she isn’t with Steve). Them and Steve are smitten with one another. Has a sarcastic and mischievous sense of humor.

Steve

He/They

A short and chubby man. Awkward goofball. While a skilled fighter when he knows his enemy, he tends to lose his skill to his nerves when startled. Hates spiders. Loves Alex. Easily trusting due to his yearning for human connection, which doesn’t always work in his favour.

(Nothing for Zuri because I don’t have any ideas for them yet, sorry!)

Efe

They/them

Cold and harsh, tall and wearing a permanent expression of dissatisfaction. Efe is a particularly skilled alchemist. They are a stark contrast to Makena, being anti-social and dismissive. They were also raised by illagers.

Ari

She/He/They

Average height with a round face and freckles. Absolute gremlin. She’s always up to mischief. Loves practical jokes and chaos. Also a redstoner, however they are nowhere near as proficient as Sunny (expect to see some kind of violent explosion coming from his house whenever she’s working on something)

Noor

He/him

A nether cartographer, and due to this, has many burns and scars as well as baggy eyes from nether sickness (body adjusting to extradimensional conditions) and lack of sleep (unless you like becoming multiple small pieces of flesh, do not sleep in the nether). A surprisingly good cook, despite the lack of edible food in the nether. Gets along well with piglins and can speak nether sign language fluently (a pidgin of piglin-speak, used for inter species communication as humans physically cannot pronounce piglin words due to different anatomy). Pretty chill and has a good sense of humour, however is an extremely skilled fighter if challenged. Always wearing some kind of gold trinket, for obvious, hog-related reasons.

**CHARACTER TYPE (for example: werewolf, shadowhunter, warlock, demon etc):** one of the endless.

**HOW LONG HAVE THEY BEEN IN NEW YORK/WHY ARE THEY THERE ETC:** freed from burgess’ prison, the concepts of ‘distance’ and ‘space’ mean much less to him. he’s in new york as often as he requires. perhaps he’s been there. more often than not in these recent days. who could say. certainly not dream.

**IMPORTANT CHARACTER INFORMATION TO NOTE AND SHARE (this could be important headcanons for initial plotting, mini bios etc, supporting docs):**

this mostly-immortal personified concept of a being is getting the bullet point treatment because otherwise we’d be here all fucking day and no one wants that.

dream and the rest of his siblings were begotten into existence the moment that the first being capable of dreaming, well. dreamed.

his realm, the dreaming, has grown over the millennia and changed shape just as much as he has. creatures created by the minds of humankind, as well as himself, populate the dreaming, plus other beings who became part of his dominion through other means. like eve (she mostly just minds her business it’s fine) or cain and abel (they do *not* mind their business cain re-kills his brother on the daily but it’s fine, dream gave them shit to do).

dream is a being of many faces and facets; depending on your culture, community or even planet you might see a different face when you look upon him, or know him as a different name.

things aren’t always set in stone for the endless in spite of their long non-lives. some of the endless siblings have died traumatically and become a new aspect of themselves, or have simply disappeared and removed themselves from the family equation. it’s been a while since either of those things have happened, but they continue to cast a long shadow when the siblings gather together.

dream had historically been farther removed from mortal lives than some of his siblings, due to some… tragically ending experiences when his sibling desire got involved in his affairs, and it inadvertently caused the downfall of his mortal love’s kingdom. he… knows he was a shithead about how it all went down, but does he still act like a shithead about it? yes

of course, until his sister inadvertently challenged him to know humanity a little better. this was when he first met hob gadling, made immortal by his sister’s blessing. dream became… well *he* would let the furies eat him before admitting it but he became *fascinated* by the unrelenting zeal hob had for the simple act of continuing to be alive. dream was fascinated by his particular bright humanity. and maybe, he’d never really had a friend before. it all brought him closer to the creatures whose dreaming hours he stewarded.

WELL and then roderick burgess happened. dream became imprisoned in this aleister crowley wannabe’s basement for decades upon decades, while the world stuttered in minute but *bad* ways in his absence. people never waking up, people never being able to fall asleep… as well as nightmares escaping from the dreaming.

EVENTUALLY dream got the hell outta there and went on his little mission to get his accessories back, all of that domino’d into hunting down the rogue nightmares, finding the vortex that his incredibly vexing sibling desire made, etcetera… with the corinthian shrunken down to a skull in his pocket, dream decided he needed to let that little nightmare and himself ruminate for a while before remaking that particular creature, and let the dreaming breathe after the unrest.

sure hob and himself only meet once every century, but that doesn’t mean dream doesn’t keep up. especially now, with having missed their last appointment. of course, dream found him anyway and they managed a belated meeting, but it feels… pertinent somehow, to keep an eye or three on him. after all, who wouldn’t be a little alarmed to peek in on your human and find them on a different continent entirely? humans had to pack all of their belongings and find a means of transportation to complete a move like that!

dream checks in a little more frequently now; even if he’s not always in the shape of ‘looks mostly human’. not to mention it’s been a few hundred years since he came to this city himself, there’s more than a few pockets of his dominion here it would behoove him to monitor as well.

I actually love this idea. Also, while I was brainstorming ideas, it kinda helped me understand Hansol's character in a weird way so...

A couple warnings. I'll be writing this as if the mc from both obey me and wannabe challenge are the same. Also, I'm just assuming this crossover would take place in the devildom. Anyways, onto the headcanons

Obey Me! x Wannabe Challenge: Who gets along with who

Yooha & Belphie

The two troublemakers of the families are bound to get along.

When Belphie is awake, the two of them can often be found just messing around together.

Yooha is a proud member of the Anti-Lucifer League because Lucifer reminds him of a certain goblin.

The A-LL can now be found planning pranks against Taehee as well as Lucifer.

Yooha & Asmo

Just a couple of flirts.

They often compete on who can flirt the most with you. Asmo always wins, but it's usually a pretty close draw.

Asmo loves when Yooha calls you master, he will try to call you that too. Asmo, if you're trying to make Yooha hit you, that's how you do it.

They're drinking buddies, but instead of beer and sports, they drink fine wine and do skincare.

As the only full-time model in the WC household, Yooha's gotta keep his skin looking great.

Taehee & Lucifer

I see these two as frenemies more than anything.

They have mutual respect for each other, as they're both the most responsible out of their respective groups.

Taehee, however, is not keen on Lucifer's punishments towards his brothers.

I mean Mammon just stole some money, that doesn't warrant him being hanged from the rafters.

Taehee is now trying to implement more empathetic punishments towards the boys (whether they be demon, fox, or goblin) and help them to overcome their mistakes instead of just beating them up for them.

Lucifer's pride takes a massive hit whenever Taehee steps on his toes like that, but at the end of the day, Lucifer does care for his brothers. If Taehee brings actual improvements to them, he won't complain.

Even if they dislike each other a bit, they need to stick by each other in order to retain their sanity, as these two crazy households can be a bit much, especially when put together.

Taehee & Barbatos

Taehee admits he could learn a thing or two from Barbatos cooking-wise.

Taehee always tries to add medicinal herbs to his dishes. While he's coming from a well-meaning place, the dishes often don't turn out the best.

Barbatos teaches him how to still use these herbs in dishes while making them taste good.

Taehee, Barbatos, and Luke are often found in a kitchen together, preparing a nice meal while Asmo distracts Solomon and Belphie distracts Beel to keep them away.

Hansol & Beel

Beel's earnesty reminds Hansol of Biho, so he has the undeniable urge to protect Beel.

Beel may be at least a hundred pounds of pure muscle heavier than Hansol, be a good foot taller than him, and thousands of years older, but Hansol still insists on calling Beel a baby this very much annoys Belphie

Beel, like Biho, doesn't mind, and he even finds Hansol endearing.

Plus, Hansol can call Biho whatever he wants as long as he keeps sharing those yummy human world chocolates with him.

Hansol & Luke

Luke reminds Hansol of his own little brother.

He's a short, golden-haired boy with a passion for art cooking is an art, okay

Hansol feels terrible for how he treated his own little brother, so, subconsciously, he sees Luke as a way to atone for his sins.

Everything he did wrong with his brother, he tries to do right with Luke.

Hansol praises Luke for his cooking abilities and gives Luke all the attention he wants.

Even though Luke outwardly scoffs when Hansol calls him a baby, he secretly sees Hansol as a big brother.

Biho & Satan

Just a couple of book worms being nerds together.

They have a little book club and they want you to join.

Biho is definitely teaching Satan calligraphy.

While Satans anger can be a bit overwhelming to Biho, Biho's calming presence actually does wonders with Satan.

Beel doesn't understand how Satan can be so mean to his own brothers, sometimes especially Lucifer.

Will show his seldom seen anger if Satan and the A-LL ever pull a prank on Taehee, because Biho loves Taehee.

But, thanks to Biho's good nature, Satan tones down on the pranks even against Lucifer, much to everyone's surprise.

Biho & Beel

Like mentioned in Hansol's, Biho and Beel are both very earnest, kind, family-loving boys, so Beel and Biho would 100% get along.

Plus, redheads unite

In the same way Beel reminds Hansol of Biho, Biho reminds Beel of Belphie.

Biho is still a young goblin and despite the Devildom's lack of sunshine, he still finds himself falling asleep during the day.

Beel will carry a sleeping Biho up to his room every time he falls asleep in some weird place.

Beel, Belphie, and Biho the b-boy trio if you will are often found napping in a big cuddle pile together, bonus points if you join.

Wannabe Challenge Kpop AU Headcanons

I know that no one requested this, but I had this idea stuck in my head for a while now. It took quite some time to get down, but I'm finally done!

Role: Leader, Main Vocalist, Center

Taehee was the first member of the group to be recruited by ST Entertainment. He had a charismatic yet soft aura that drew all the girls on audition day. Immediately, the entertainment company knew that Taehee would become part of their label.

However, it took him a good 5 years before the company decided that he was ready for debut. It was within this time that he learned how to avoid the entertainment industry's sleazy business practices, develop a strong image, and maintain constant motivation for debut. You could say he subconsciously preparing to he a leader by trying to himself afloat for 5 years.

Once he finally got to debut, Taehee was chosen to be the leader of the group. Although Hansol seemed like the more obvious choice, Hansol thought that Taehee would be a better fit since Taehee already knew a lot about the entertainment industry due to his experience. Besides, he was the only one who was mature and emotionally-equipped to lead a group.

As for Taehee's abilities, his strongest suit is his singing. While he wasn't the strongest singer at the start of his training, he ended up become one of the best vocalists in the company. His voice has a unique color that radiates smoothness with a hint of attitude. He's able to hit high notes, but he's a lot better at belting -- especially when he's feeling emotional.

Perhaps this is the reason that Taehee excels in elegant concepts. His graceful movements along with his princely facial expressions make him the star on the stage. Think of songs such as "I'm in Trouble" by NU'EST, "Blue Flame" by ASTRO, and "Not By the Moon" by GOT7. It's like he belongs on an icy throne in a golden palace.

Surprise, surprise: he gets the most lines in their songs. Usually it's not by a lot, but sometimes ST gives some of Biho's lines to Taehee (much to the everyone's dismay). He's never comfortable singing those lines and tries to negotiate to give Biho more lines, but it doesn't always work. He gets quite the backlash for it, but unfortunately it's out of his control.

When interacting with fans, Taehee is usually very warm and kind. He's constantly asking about everyone's health and well-being, nagging fans to keep themselves at top priority. He doesn't want fans to ruin their lives because of their love for him and his group. He's also very earnest and mature, almost like a guardian angel to his fans. Wherever they go, his heart is always with them.

In the group, he's basically the dad. He's always looking out for the other members (yes, even Yooha). Just like his fans, his members' well-being is top priority. In lives, you'll probably see him in the background cooking food, cleaning dorms, and or scolding the other members for doing dumb things (that last reason is why he's also very likely to appear in crack videos).

However, he appears most often in "sassy moment compilations" because of his reactions. Taehee has even gone viral because he just straight up rolled his eyes at a variety show when they asked him uncomfortable questions and threw not-so-subtle shade. From then on, he's been dubbed as the "sassy king".

For side projects, his main path is acting. Taehee is a really good actor who played the main male lead in a critically acclaimed K-Drama. He played the sly but sweet love interest in a historical drama. The audience are always amazed at his ability to adapt to the time period so accurately.... it's almost as if he's lived there himself?

Role: Main Rapper, Lead Dancer, Vocalist

Originally, Yooha has started off as a model. However, staff from ST Entertainment saw Yooha and thought that his visuals would be perfect for the kpop business. They offered their business card to him and he decided to try out for fun. Fortunately, he nailed his audition and was admitted as a trainee immediately.

Yooha was the last person to join the company and had the shortest training time (1 year). His sudden arrival and decision to debut with the group created a rift between him and the other members. Taehee thought it was unfair that Yooha could debut with minimal training while Hansol was worried that Yooha's addition would affect the group's dynamic (in areas like line distribution, dance formation, etc).

However, he and the other members were forced to resolve their issues when he became Taehee's roommate at their dorm. Since it was Taehee's job to lead the group (including Yooha), the two had no choice but to bond.

Now before y'all yell at me that Yooha isn't main rapper material, just know that I had to give the position to someone. Secondly, Yooha has an alluring and deep voice voice that was perfect for rap. Also, he is really good at rapping in various beats and experiments with different flows. While he can do fast raps, he prefers to make ones that have a distinct rhythm and leave a lasting impact on the audience.

However, Yooha hadn't planned to debut as the group's rapper. His original role being the main dancer, but he jokingly rapped in an pre-debut interview and everyone fell in love with his voice. From that, ST Entertainment thought it would be best to make Yooha the rapper instead.

In fan interactions, Yooha is very slick and flirty. Whether it's in fanmeet, lives, or concerts, Yooha knows exactly how to steal the hearts of his fans. Just one wink is enough to make the entire stadium swoon over him.

However, he's also the crackhead of the group. If you search for the group's "crackhead moment compilations", 80% of the video will involve Yooha somehow. In fact, it's these moments that really boost his popularity within the group and skyrocket him to the 2nd most popular member in the group.

Sometimes, he manages to pull one over Taehee and becomes the most popular member. How does this happen? Well, whenever the group has a "bad boy"/sexy concept comeback, Yooha absolutely dominates the stage. Think of songs such as "Want" by Taemin, "7th Sense" by NCT U, and "Love Killa" by Monsta X. The sexy concept was made for him, so it's no surprise when everyone in the comments section thirsts over him. It's just enough to put him over the edge against Taehee in fan voting.

He also has the most risque outfits. Yooha has an amazing body and he knows it, so why keep it hidden? His wardrobe is filled with experimental pieces that show of his abs, forearms, and everything in between. It's the reason why he's voted "Best Dressed" on every voting app.

Yooha is also a smooth dancer. His fluidity and confidence amplifies his sex appeal on stage, which often causes fans to confuse him as the group's main dancer. He's also has killer facial expressions that maintain his striking stage presence, making it impossible to keep your eyes off of him.

When Yooha isn't rocking the stage, you'll probably see him on magazines and commercial shoots. Photographers just can't get enough of his visuals, so they constantly bring him back for more modeling. He'll even dabble his feet in web dramas, but it doesn't last for long due to the scheduling conflicts between the web dramas and his music career.

Position: Main Dancer, Main Vocalist, Producer, Face of the Group

Hansol started his music journey long before ST Entertainment. He had been creating music as early as elementary school (mainly him bashing wooden sticks on the table and strumming rubber bands). However, he really got to develop his passion on high school-- where he dedicated his time towards music production and music theory.

Thus, Hansol had his own YouTube channel where he created covers of different artists and snippets of songs that he created on his own. From that, he amassed a small following of 25K subscribers. This audience attracted ST Entertainment, who took a liking to his videos and asked him whether he wanted to be a trainee. Hansol gladly took the offer.

Hansol was the 2nd member to join ST and trained for 3 years. Although the company had given him the opportunity to debut immediately, Hansol wanted to wait until he reached his full potential.

While Hansol originally was the leader of the group (since he already had a fairly stable music presence), he had to product all their music. This ate up leadership time, which Hansol was having difficulty in managing. Besides, he thought that Taehee was more mature than him and thought Taehee would do a better job as a leader. Hansol ended up handing the leader role to Taehee before debut.

Hansol's production has been praised by critics, fans, and other producers. His vision for the song helps the group distinguish themselves from the other acts in the entertainment industry and create their own identities as a group. Sometimes he writes songs with Biho (or by himself) to better convey his emotions onto their group's album.

Hansol is the group's ace: he can sing, dance, and even rap. He's equally talented at singing and dancing, so he decided to take main positions for both skills. In his singing, Hansol has a high-pitched voice that makes it easy for him to hit high notes and belt to his heart's content. In fact, many of his lines in the songs are his adlibs (which give the song that extra spice).

Hansol's dancing style is sharp and energetic. There's a lot of power in his movements with playful facial expressions (in contrast to Yooha's powerful, sexy style). This allows him to steal the spotlight when the group has a playful and upbeat comback (think "Energetic" by Wanna One, "Sha La La" by Pentagon, and "BBUSYEO" by ONEUS). His bright grin is enough to light up the entire stadium while keeping fans engaged throughout the performance.

The group's debut turned out pretty successful thanks the Hansol's YouTube fanbase. With his enlarged presence, Hansol is the "Face of the Group"-- the most recognizable member to the general public. While he isn't the most popular within his group's fans, Hansol is the most liked across the general public.

Hansol's personality around fans is very bubbly. He loves playing up his cute, boyish charms to win over the fans (especially when they drool over Yooha). There's a lot of winking, heart signs, pouting, and hugs whenever Hansol interacts with his fans.

Within the group, Hansol is the baby. Although he isn't the youngest, he acts the most immature. He's always nagging the other members and trying to prove his manliness, but it's more like a puppy trying to intimidate a pack of wolves.

For side projects, Hansol would have a solo debut. He'd produce all the music on his album while collaborating with Biho for songwriting. Since it's his solo career, Hansol would have much more creative control-- allowing him to fully explore every corner of his artistry. He plans to continues his solo career long after the group disbands too.

Position: Lead Vocalist, Rapper, Songwriter, Visual, Maknae

Biho was the 3rd member to join ST Entertainment. Out of the 4, he was the only one who submitted a formal audition tape to ST Entertainment and got accepted through the traditional audtion process. What made his audtion special was that he performed his own song-- a love song to his future lover. The judges absolutely loved his vibe and voice, so they couldn't pass this opportunity.

When Biho became a trainee, he always felt insecure about his skills. Even though he was talented, Biho was training with the likes of Taehee and Hansol, who were already experienced and seasoned professionals. Biho thought he'd be holding his group back, but the other members assured him that his presence made a significant impact on the group.

And honestly, it really did because Biho wrote most of their songs. His lyrics were both thought-provoking and poetic. He was never afraid of writing music about the things on his mind (whether it was love, fear, anger, or sadness). However, editing the lyrics took a lot of time as Biho only wanted to make the best content for his fans. Sometimes he lets Hansol write music with him.

Biho's strength lies in his singing (like most of the other members). His voice is soft and breathy, almost like a lullaby wrapping you in a soft blanket. No matter how you're feeling, Biho's voice is guaranteed to calm your nerves and take to your safe place.

Biho is also known for his looks. Although Yooha is the group's top model, Biho's face is the perfect canvas for all types of makeup styles. Although he doesn't realize it, fans love the duality between his soft persona and his darker one. Many are surprised that Biho is able to make the switch for sexier concepts and absolutely die when he does.

However, Biho shines the most with soft boy concepts. It's the image that he's had for the longest and is most comfortable with. Besides, the more thoughtful and heartfelt songs are where his lyrics get to shine through-- making him extra happy. For reference, the best examples of soft boy songs that suits Biho would be "Spring Day" by BTS, "Don't Wanna Cry" by SEVENTEEN, "Blue Hour" by TXT.

In fan interactions, Biho is extremely warm and a tad bit shy. He's always blushing when fans compliment him and showers his fans with a bunch of love in return. He likes to take his fans' hands and sincerely thank them for their support because his group would be nothing without them.

In fact, Biho is the most likely to get emotional while performing. The fact that there are so many people who are willing to listen to his music and his message is something that he could barely dream of. He will be forever indebted to their kindness, which is why he tries go provide his fans with all a lot of content (lives, Q+As, pop-up fansigns).

In the group, Biho isn't much different. In fact, he's the member whose idol persona matches his real personality the most. He's always cheering hisnother members from the side and gushing about how amazing they are. Sometimes he likes to throw an occasional jab at Yooha though (especially when Yooha is feeling himself too much).

For side projects, Biho is working on a book! He already has a collect of poems that was published, which has recieved high praise from critics and other poets. He also spends time writing songs for other groups, especially ones that come from small, poor companies.

► A/N: Sorry if these end up being a little OOC! This is my first time writing for this fandom and I’m still getting the hang of it <3

► Masterlist

♦ Biho

• Biho doesn’t have experience in relationships, but whenever he needs to write about love and longing he always uses his relationship with the MC as an inspiration;

• He didn’t realise it at first, but he always seems to write about things that they did together, or write about his own feelings for them;

• Realising that he has fallen in love with them is difficult and painful. He is tempted to keep it to himself for eternity and push back against the feeling, as he has done for many other things in his life, but... They deserve to know the truth;

• If he’s going to confess, he has to make it the best confession that he can possibly make;

• It takes weeks of meticulous planning;

• And A LOT of researching;

• In the end, he opts to do something that he is good at: writing;

• He collects all the poems and all the stories that he wrote about them or for them, and compiles them into a single book;

• He adds a couple of new works, things that he had written in the past but swore to never show them and even adds some illustrations!;

• He actually learns bookbinding just because of this! He made dozens of covers and mock-up books in different styles just so he could give them the very best;

• It’s hard to keep what he’s planning a secret, and he is just incapable of lying, but he somehow managed to hide it for enough time to get it ready;

• The whole process takes a couple of months;

• He’s second-guessing himself the whole time;

• He had many ideas of how when and how he was going to confess but couldn’t settle for a single one;

• When… On one rainy evening, they happened to be home alone for the first time in a long while;

• Hansol was out with his bandmates, Taehee was working late, Yooha was travelling for a modelling gig and MC had just texted him saying that they were on their way home with some take-out. The stars seemed to align for him;

• Once MC gets home, he asks if they are up for watching a movie and smiles in relief when they accept;

• He lets them choose the movie and offers to bring some extra blankets so they can be more comfortable on the couch (he quietly brings down the book too.);

• After they make themselves comfortable, Biho says that he has a gift for them and shyly hands the book over;

• The first page consists of a letter that he wrote explaining why he made the book and what it all meant. He still tries to explain to them verbally, despite not being very good at doing so, what his feelings are and what the book consists of;

• He is usually calm but they can see his nervousness really peeking through. He is bracing himself for rejection the whole time;

• Biho is absolutely shocked when they hug him and accept his confession. They end up not watching the movie at all, and instead MC reads through the book with Biho!

♦ Hansol

• He knows that public love confessions are a very bad idea;

• They work well enough in romance movies, though he isn’t particularly fond of the K-dramas that Yooha and MC watch, but real life? It’s very different;

• He scraps the idea of making a full song and dance spectacle before he gets too attached to it. It’s what he does best, but this is not about him;

• He still wants to write MC a song, though. He just… Struggles with a way to not make it awkward;

• In the end, he opts with something simple;

• He would write and record the song and then ask them to listen to it, saying that it was something that he wanted to add to his future album but wasn’t sure if it was good enough;

• That way he could guarantee that his performance would be perfect and he could have some privacy for his confession!;

• He thought it was a little too simple for them though, so he started working on something else he could offer;

• That’s how he ends up attempting to make homemade chocolates. It… Doesn’t work out, unfortunately, and he almost burns down the kitchen, so he ends up resorting to just buying a box of their favourite brand and making a bouquet of their favourite flowers;

• He’s bustling with excitement before he even asks them to join him in the studio;

• Mc can tell that it’s something important to him so they make sure to show up on time;

• He’s there and he’s excited and scared, but mostly excited, and it takes a lot out of him to keep himself from blurting out ‘’I love you’’ as soon as he sees Mc;

• But Hansol knows that this moment is important so he plays it cool and tries to remain calm;

• He mostly succeeds, but he’s very worried while they listen to the song;

• When the song ends, he offers them the flowers and the chocolate and with a soft smile tells them how much they mean to him and how he has come to fall in love with them.

♦ Taehee

• He has waited for them for so long and the universe seems to keep finding ways to tear them apart;

• In a way he has confessed already-- He does that every day;

• He does it when he cooks their favourite meal, carries them to bed after they fall asleep on the couch or when he calls them in the middle of the afternoon simply because he misses their voice;

• Taehee has fallen in love with MC so many times but he keeps finding things to fall for;

• I don’t think that he’d do anything particularly elaborate;

• He doesn’t want to make them uncomfortable;

• A part of him is still afraid that they don’t feel the same way;

• But he just knows that after everything that happened the least he owes them is his honesty;

• He makes reservations to a very romantic restaurant that had started getting popular on Wannabe;

• MC accepts right away and gets excited about all the pictures they want to take there! His heart beats faster when he notices how happy they were;

• He wasn’t planning on giving them anything, until one day he went out with them to run some errands and he noticed that they were eyeing a cute little polaroid camera that was on display;

• He went back the next day and bought it for them;

• On the night of the reservation, he makes sure to wear something MC got him;

• He acts as normal during the entire night and lets them drag him around to take pictures when they want to. He’s more than happy to be their model, actually;

• Before dessert, when the conversation starts to dwindle a little, he gives MC the polaroid;

• They’re shocked that he noticed it when they didn’t even say anything about it;

• Before they even get to thank him, he says what he has been waiting to say all night;

• He says that he loves them, always has, and has been waiting for them for a long time, but he’ll gladly wait some more if they need him to. He wants them in his life, in any capacity, but needs them to know how he feels;

• Taehee tries to be as honest and as open as possible. He doesn’t want any more secrets between them.

♦ Yooha

• Drunk confession. I only have this to say;

• Look, Yooha is MC’s drinking buddy;

• When either of them has a bad day, the duo has a silent agreement to drink their alcoholic beverage of choice together and watch whatever k-drama he’s obsessed with this week;

• Then, when they’re ready to talk, he’ll listen attentively and offer some advice (along with some snarky comments) and it almost always makes them feel better;

• MC returns the favour whenever he needs to vent, and it’s just a system that… Works;

• Neither of them knows exactly when they have become this close, or when something in their relationship started to shift, but it’s not like either are complaining;

• Yooha had been hinting at them being something more for a long time and since they haven’t even acknowledged his comments as anything more than jokes, he wasn’t planning on confessing;

• But… One night, MC came home after a gig and he just knew from how they carried themselves that they were angry and it was drinks and drama night;

• He set up everything as fast as he could, and after they came back to the living room after a shower he just wordlessly offered them a glass and started opening a bottle of wine;

• MC got through an entire episode before they started ranting about a colleague, and it seemed like this would be like every other night;

• But Yooha got drunk. More than he thought he would;

• When MC eventually got back to venting about their day, and he saw how angry they were and how they had replied to one of their colleague’s comments, he chuckled before saying ‘’That’s why I love you!’’ with such honesty that it gave them pause;

• Then, things finally clicked for MC;

• They had assumed that everything that he did for them was out of a sense of duty since they had been the one to free him from the painting;

• They didn’t know his feelings went beyond that. MC had refused to believe it;

• They had bad luck all of their life. It seemed too good to be true;

• So, MC asks if he really means it. Yooha wastes no time in talking about how much they mean to him and how he has fallen hopelessly in love with them;

Wannabe Challenge Headcanons (First Time--Yooha)

Because I am a thirsty degenerate I’m back again to write out how I see MC’s first time with each of the Wannabe Challenge guys would go. In these headcanons, they’ve already established themselves as a couple (either secretly or publicly) and kissed and what not, but no further.

I will probably accidentally spoil some stuff from the His Story and what have you. So read at your own risk idk.

Let’s be real though. We’re all so thirsty we don’t care if there’s spoilers, so let’s crack on.

FIRST TIME (MC x Yooha)

- unlike our boy Taehee, Yooha ain’t planned shit

- Yooha doesn’t plan, Yooha does

- rooming with Taehee has thrown a wrench in Yooha’s doings many times, so it’s been hard for you two to...well...do it

- Yooha is no blushing virgin, so he was ready to make things physical before you were. He’s been trying to get in your pants since you called him out of his scroll, so he’s a little eager

- he also isn’t afraid to shove your relationship in Taehee’s face to the point that you had to have a talking-to with him about it before Taehee straight murders him

- therefore, you agreed that when you were ready to take the relationship further you’d let him know and you two would take it from there

- and one night, after reading a particularly steamy chapter in the novel you’re reviewing for your Wannabe followers, you realize you’re ready

- Biho and Hansol are no big deal since they share a room, but you purposely wait until Taehee and Yooha have gone to bed and shoot Yooha a text to tell you when Taehee has fallen asleep. when he texts you (confused) that Taehee’s breathing is even and deep, it’s time

- you take a deep breath, arrange yourself on your bed, and then whisper his name -- Yooha. he materializes on your back, surprised

- his surprise deepens to shock and then unbridled excitement when he realizes you’re wearing your favorite silk bathrobe...with nothing underneath

- after making sure the door is locked he wastes no time in stripping off his shirt and all but tackling you to the bed. his tails are out in full force because he’s so excited and turned on he can’t spare the energy to hide them

- once he’s bared your skin fully and taken a moment to marvel, he asks if you’re sure. he even stops wagging his tails so you won’t be charmed into saying yes because by the gods he’s a respectful fox

- holy fuck you are sure that you want him and you are even more sure seeing the way the moonlight through your window hits his skin

- neither one of you has protection on hand but then this absolute pos fox reaches up and pulls out the condoms he’d stashed in your air vent weeks ago just in case this exact scenario happened

- you’re too impressed to be mad tbh

- you thought you’d be nervous but boy takes you on a ride too exquisite to be nervous. he’s gentle but insistent, working your body to a fever pitch, pushing you over the edge, and then goddamn smirking about it

- you’re almost mad (is this all a game to him?) but as he gets close to his own finish his facade fades away and words you blush to remember come falling out of his mouth like his damn fox orb--you’re his master and he loves you, he never wants to be without you, your body is even better than he dreamed but it doesn’t even matter because it’s you it’s you it’s you and fuck he loves you

- when you’re both finished you lay panting, staring at the ceiling and hoping no one else could hear what just happened

- well, you hope no one else heard. Yooha hopes they did hear. Yooha wants everyone to know

- he’ll probably post about it on Wannabe if you don’t stop him

- the relationship doesn’t change between you at all; he’s still as annoying as ever but now you get nightly texts telling you when Taehee has fallen asleep

- he figures you’ll sleep better anyway if he wears you out

[ Sounds good to me! I put a hero school spin on it. I saw your other ask so I tried to add some NSFW undertones in the last few headcanons. These headcanons are too long, but if you follow me you know I cannot write anything short. ]

From the start, you and Rumi budded heads. Despite the fact that you were put on the same team during your first training exercise, Rumi made it a point that she despised teamwork and tried to act solo. This cost you the victory and when you confronted her the argument turned into an all-out brawl which the teacher had to separate.

Ever since that day, Rumi made it a point to make your life a living hell. Tacks on your chair, graffiti on your locker, and some less than appropriate rumors became your life. But you held your chin up high, refusing to allow her to ruin your future goal of graduating as one of the top hero students.

When Rumi found out about your future goal, she resorted to using negative reinforcement to discourage you from it. "Ya really think ya have what it takes to be a hero!?" she'd mock, pushing you into the row of lockers. "I'll surpass all ya wannabe's solo! Ya don't stand a chance pretty face,"

As your second year approached and your training intensified, other students began to talk about Rumi. They'd often insult her looks, fighting style, and go as far as to compare her to a villain because of her selfish ways. At first, you let it go. But after hearing it one too many times you decided to speak in Rumi's defense.

Turns out, Rumi hated having someone, especially you defending her. "Do ya have a problem pretty face?! I don't need anyone defending my title! Just what the hell were ya thinking!?" you never offered her a response, only a kind smile that made her angrier.

Your somewhat protective behavior continued whether it was speaking up for her in between classes or protecting her from a certain attack during training. Rumi quickly caught on to the fact that her bullying tactics didn't affect you.

The more she thought about you and your kind actions, the more confused she became. She knew she didn't hate you by any means, but you were still an obstacle. This constant entity on her mind, what did that mean? Did she actually care about you?!

This was confirmed shortly after entering your third year when she witnessed you get hurt during training. Anger and regret filled her and though she didn't want to acknowledge it, the answer was simple. She wasn't there to protect you like you had done countless times for her. She did care about you and wanted you safe.

This started the turning point in your somewhat abnormal relationship. Rumi made it a routine to grab you by the arm at the end of each class and escort you to your next one. "Just shut the hell up and walk pretty face! I don't need to give ya an explanation why I'm doing this," despite the shock, you'd much rather take this over her attempted bullying.

Small talk became somewhat of a frequent pastime between the two of you. Whenever you had a break in your schedule or lunchtime occurred, Rumi and yourself would hide away from the crowd and exchange subtle conversation. This is where you learned that she wished to be a strong hero on her own but was open to the idea of the two of you supporting one another in your future careers.

As the days ticked away, Rumi became increasingly possessive. She went from merely dragging you around to holding your hand and occasionally pressing you up against the lockers. Of course, you took this as somewhat of a challenge and on occasion, pushed back. Pinning yourself against her with a subtle growl before repeating the same question back to her.

Of course, it was uncertain at what point you had crossed the line between enemies and lovers. But either way, you seemed equally possessive and furthermore, protective of Rumi. This came as a surprise to many others considering the bunny's lack of not only friends but allies. Still, you were happy though things might change when you became pro heroes. You knew one thing, you'd always try to remain ahead and on top of Rumi.

a thing about your headcanons that really intrigues me is that, much as Knuckles seems to have originally been done as a contrast or rival to Sonic back in the Genesis days, your take on them has a opposite approach to the responsibility they feel, but done in opposite ways. Sonic runs from responsibility and doesn't want to think about it, while Knuckles feels guilty about NOT being responsible to an extreme, and since people don't often deal with how they're similar, i really like this

Honestly, this is a thread that is not exclusive to Sonic and Knuckles, but actually ties in heavily to a major theme I'm considering and working in Worlds AU.

Basically, "freedom" has always at least nominally been a theme associated with Sonic. It's in his motifs, it's in his attitudes, it's the quality that people tend to envy when they compare themselves to him- whether that's Knuckles who feels bound by fate and obligation, Tails who feels like he might not be enough or can only keep up, Amy who dreads the drudgery of her ordinary life by comparison. Hell, one could say it's even in the many one-off characters who are introduced with Sonic blowing into their life, changing things, inspiring them to grow, and then leaving- Elise, Merlina, Chris Thorndyke, Chip, Shahra.

But it's a theme that's kind of been weakened in the direction that the games took.

In Sonic SatAM, the concept of freedom vs. tyranny was rife in the setting. Robotnik had his boot down on 90% of the world and the remaining pockets are either actively dwindling, or struggling along as best they can through limited resources. All characters are- at any time- in danger of losing specifically their freedom; not their minds, but control of their bodies. And it's a compelling hook.

But the gameverse has very long not been that, and since Sonic Adventure, the world of the games has been very metropolitan. There's a bunch of cities and countries and everybody's going about their daily lives and Eggman's still a wannabe conqueror but he's now become abstracted, a supervillain, who might have this big scheme or that, but- basically until Sonic Forces- we have never had Eggman really decisively in control. And in his absence, there are not really ever any consistent or clear threats to freedom except that, yeah, we guess if we let someone like Solaris or Perfect Chaos or Black Doom run wild long enough that would kill people and then nobody would be free, but... that's an abstract and inelegant way to speak to one of your main center themes.

(and I personally don't like Forces basically trying to reinstate- even if temporarily- the SatAM status quo, even if I think some people like the IDW comics have done interesting things with that, but that's my personal relationship with the character of gameverse Eggman and how I view him distinctly from SatAM Robotnik, as absolutely iconic as the latter is)

I don't think you need an encroaching dystopia per se to make a meaningful discussion out of freedom- I think using the modern gameverse's more colorful, populated world opens up a lot of possibilities for that. So, a major thematic thing I've landed on is that abject tyranny- while the easiest 'threat to freedom' to scan and oppose- and an important one!- is not remotely the only thing that challenges freedom.

A big thing is responsibility.

Responsibility is the thing that most of us sacrifice our freedom to on a daily basis. That may sound dramatic, but it's true; we may have other reasons for it, but we don't just run off somewhere else or go have an adventure or leave our job because we feel responsible to things. And responsibility isn't a bad thing- it's good to feel reliable or trustworthy. If you enjoy your job or your coworkers, you want to do well at it. Having a house is a responsibility, we take care of them. Having a relationship of any kind is a responsibility; so is having kids. If none of us were ever responsible, society would fall apart and we'd all live lonely lives. Moreover, we'd have very little power- ironically a lack of responsibility can lead to a lack of freedom in some regards.

But also, it's very easy to give too much of yourself away and not have any left. I mentioned before that many characters are consistently depicted, across many continuities, idealizing Sonic- because Sonic's free! Sonic doesn't buy groceries or pay taxes or do boring stuff, he certainly isn't stuck in a frustrating or isolating situation, and this can even tie into one of Sonic's major themes- he refuses to be talked into accepting lesser evils.

In Sonic and the Black Knight, Merlina tries to explain to him why she's using Excalibur's scabbard- why she's doing bad things, trying to justify it that she can't just let the kingdom end, even if that means needing to twist it into a horrible place to live- to which she at one point, in frustration, asks if Sonic understands, to which he responds, "No, and I don't want to."

While it's not exactly a perfect moral stance (those don't exist), there is something to be said powerfully for the idea that Sonic as a person has a certain rejection of responsibility as a chain to let bad things happen. He rejects loyalty to a thing that drives you into cruelty.

And this is really interesting, when we consider- specifically in the very first game that featured Shadow and featured him explicitly as a dark antithesis to Sonic- that is exactly what happens to Shadow.

Shadow is not, by default, an amoral person. Pre-trauma, we see that he doesn't want to hurt others, and frankly, as much as "ow the edge" circles (and is somewhat warranted), we can often see that he's standoffish but fairly civil; someone who is dealing with a lot of stresses and problems, but doesn't often relish hurting others unless he's already desperate, frustrated, or looking for an outlet or solution. And in adventure 2, Shadow is led into nearly ending the planet on account of loyalty; to the idea of Maria, to what he believes she asked him to do (and what he believes is owed to the people who killed her)

It's kind of conspicuous that if you think about it, most of Shadow's arcs in various games that focused on him are about questions of what's owed- to him, or to the world. Does he owe a debt to Eggman? Rouge? Black Doom? Gerald? Maria? Does the world owe him a debt of anger and pain to be paid back in vengeance, or, is he the one who owes the world a chance? Does he owe himself a chance? These are questions of Responsibility.

So to bring this back to Sonic and Knuckles, I think that's an interesting context to set them apart, because both of those two definitely have a special relationship with the Chaos Emeralds. Knuckles is the guardian of the shrine that doesn't just have positions for the Master Emerald, but all seven smaller ones as well; and Sonic... well, Sonic consistently and regularly does stuff with the chaos emeralds nobody else does. He transfers super forms to other people, or even awakens them in people who haven't done it before (as implied with Burning Blaze in Sonic Rush). And at least according to Sonic 3&K, his arrival (?) was foretold.

But Sonic... does not feel responsible about the chaos emeralds. If something's happening with them he wants to know but it's about curiosity. When the chaos emeralds are corrupted, tarnished, and lose power, Sonic... juggles them, while he's confused about his own (related) corruption. It's weird, it's concerning, but it's not an obligation. He gets distracted buying ice cream in the same scene.

By contrast, the only time Knuckles feels confident shattering the Master Emerald, it's as an obligation- he has to protect it from Eggman even if it creates more work for himself, and he later freaks out and nearly crashes the shuttle he and others are on when a near-miss scatters the master emerald pieces he's collected across the ARK. I can only imagine half of the plot of Sonic Unleashed would've given Knuckles an ulcer if he'd been around for it. You did what to the Chaos Emeralds, Sonic????

Basically, I think while freedom vs. tyranny is definitely Sonic's brand, you can have a lot more fun and shore up the thematic strength by also factoring in "responsibility" as a secondary theme and this strengthens or illuminates many characters and their arcs.
