There was a Mid Century house in Oasis Springs with an office, a bedroom and a full bathroom, as well as a wonderful and colorful backyard. Hope you like it! Vista Quarry Rebuild

My build entry for the BNS177 challenge: “A Home for Everyone”.

I built this in a mid-century modern style to fit Mr Peura’s preference for a one-storey house and big windows.

Since Mr Peura is going blind, I used bright colours to help make it easier for him to navigate around his house.

I also added a hand railing near the bathtubs to help Mr Peura get in and out of them more easily.

1218 South Willow Avenue - a home by the Lustron Corp. Seriously, I will never understand how these didn't catch on. They have a phenomenal survival rate, considering, and were stunningly low maintenance. Also being well planned and only taking TWO WEEKS to assemble... Good ideas never catch.

Is it mid-century or industrial? I don't know, and neither does everybody else I've asked. All I know is that it took me an embarrassingly long time to build and is just as ridiculously pricy. TW: excessive usage of the Star Wars pack.

Hi, darlings! It’s been a while, I know. But recently I started to use less and less CC in my builds and I thought I would try to do lilsimsie’s most recent horrible, diagonal shell challenge. It was my first ever time doing such a thing (participating in a challenge and building a diagonal house), but I’m quite satisfied with the outcome. I’ve also come to the realization that I really should practice modern builds. It’s just so different from my beloved cottages. Stay safe out there and have the nicest day ♡

aight they do truly chefs kiss CAS cc, BUT, i am OBSESSED with their separated clutter sets in particular. how many times have you looked at game asset and thought, hey, there's some rlly cute bits in this but then its like, part of a MASSIVE object that you never really use. well, sforzinda basically solves that time and time again and me and my mods folder are SO thankful. In no particular order, my favourite worlds for The Sims 3 are...

Lucky Palms

Desert worlds do it for me. Throw in Mid-Century Modern architecture. Combine with casinos, and retro Americana. You’ve got a recipe for sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll gameplay with lashings of mafia thrown in. Home to my favourite pre-made Sim, Yolanda Shaw.

Roaring Heights

In keeping with my adoration of 20th-c. architecture, this ‘20s-40s, Art Deco inspired world combines concept, beauty, and fun. In spite of routing issues, the layout is intuitive and the skyline unparalleled. Bonus points for the scandalous queer subplot.

Al Simhara

TS3’s OG desert world. Breath-taking landscape and a trial for BACC enjoyers. An Orientalist's wet dream but as a postcard world it paints a pretty picture of Egypt.

Isla Paradiso

It’s a Western tourist’s narrowminded concept of the Caribbean and buggy beyond belief but this tropical world has unrivalled charm and a relaxed atmosphere that compelled me to make it my main world.

Woeford

A custom desert world by @nornities & @simsmidgen, with the help of ninjaofthepurplethings that ticks every box:

Honourable mention: Vintage Champs les Sims

@franglishetchocolat’s masterpiece makeover of WA’s Champs les Sims would top the list if I’d played it as much as these other worlds.

GTW Career Lot Rebuild - No CC, Get to Work Only

Lot info follows:

1. Willow Creek Precinct (Police Station) I think I managed to lay out the floorplan so that your detective can quickly get to everywhere. I learned a while ago that if you want your edited career lot to work as intended, you must not recolor anything lol. And for the cells to function you can’t put ANYTHING else there, not even the ceiling and wall lights that come with GTW (??). So rest assured I’ve made sure this lot is playable all through your detective’s career.

I highly recommend releasing all prisoners before placing the lot. They won’t escape and will comply to being locked back in afterwards.

2. M. P. General Hospital (Willow Creek Hospital) Because even with both the police station and hospital replaced, the view of one from the other shows the default lot.

As I built this lot for gameplay, I do believe I’ve optimized the layout for it. The building is small so less walking is involved. All the patients are gathered in the center of the build, connected to everything else, without any deco objects obstructing your view of them. So you could keep an eye out for their idle animations.

I recommend that you place this lot close to the end of a work day - otherwise the patients will be stuck standing outside all day and you won’t be able to interact with them. You get a reset for the next work day.

3. FutureSim Research Centre (FutureSim Labs) Honestly the best active career in TS4 and not just because I work in an actual lab. I googled Mid Century Modern (because Oasis Springs) office building and this is the result. I had my sim plant perfect seeds in the greenhouse of plants that are listed as ingredients for the serums your scientist is going to need to make.

TS4 World Tag Game: List your top 5 favorite sim worlds

Thanks for tagging me @earlycentsims! I love most of the worlds in the sims 4 so this was tough to answer. As in, I actually went into the world menu and debated with myself.

1. Willow Creek: This is always top three because I’m a swamp creature through and through. The hanging moss, magnolia trees, and bayous remind me of home. I’m currently working on it as a set for the Darlingtons (a little spoiler!) so I’m really vibing with it rn.

2. Oasis Springs: I love how unique each neighborhood is and the lighting is very dramatic. I finished my world rebuild here and building Mediterranean style houses, kitschy mid-century, and modern builds really made me realize an how fun this world is.

3. San Myshuno: This one is a bit nostalgic because I played so much when city living came out. I feel like it added something fresh to the game. I also love how different the neighborhoods are, and I find myself moving my YA sims here for realism. Now if only we could get apartments in other worlds��

4. Brindleton Bay: I loved this world when it came out and I recently played my NSB save in the wharf area and I came to like it even more. It feels lived in and the misty mornings/rainy days are atmospheric. However, I don’t enjoy it nearly as much without this mod.

5. Sulani/Tartosa: Okay, I’m cheating a little, but both worlds are so similar in their pros and cons. They’re both small and seem to offer a ton to do but also nothing to do at all? Despite that I am a sucker for beaches, both in real life and in the sims. And that lighting y’all...

Spent a big chunk of time yesterday getting Newcrest populated with buildings. Mostly they're the houses I built a few years back based on a book of mid-century modern blueprints (the full set can be found on the TS4 gallery under the hashtag "nationalplanservice"). I also used a couple of Sears kit houses, and a few non-residential lots from the default library. I then modified one of the default houses into a cafe, and divided one of the National Plan houses into a couple of rental units. Basically I was looking to make Newcrest seem like an older suburb, with mostly mid-century buildings, and a few older ones.

And have a dashboard cut for way-too-many-image reasons :)

I then tested the cafe I'd made by sending Teresa and Paolo there for their first date. It went so well that at the end of it, they were deeply in love and he spontaneously suggested they move in together. She, of course, said yes.

He turned out to have the bodybuilder aspiration and the athletic career, so initially I let him stay in that.

With the few thousand dollars he brought into the household, plus both their wages, I was able to more fully furnish the house. I've decided they like colour. A lot. Though I'm trying to mostly keep it to blue-teal-green and white or cream, with some yellow. Naturally a lot of other colours sneak in, but only in small amounts.

It wasn't long before Paolo was popping the question - suitably enough, during a date in a dance club.

I've slowly been expanding the house as well, as money allowed (note that I did rotate it, as I considered in the previous post). Also note the publicly accessible cowplant; I'm not going to feed a sim to it on purpose, but they're welcome to Darwin themselves when it's in a "FEED ME, SEYMOUR!!!" mood.

Paolo hit a point in the athletic career where I didn't really feel like continuing it any further (I've done both the bodybuilder and professional athlete tracks before, and don't particularly care to repeat either right now). I decided to switch him over the the civic planning career instead; still a lot of work to get through, but it uses the charisma he was already working on as an athlete, so that'll be marginally easier. Also he'll earn a very nice daily wage by the top of the career track.

Teresa and Paolo do the majority of their socialization by talking with or partying with the rest of the Partihaus club members, though they each also have a friend or three outside of the group. I figured out how to set club costumes, so they look pretty co-ordinated when they first show up on lots now.

Here they all arrived in cold-weather outfits, as it was winter, though Paolo and Teresa then switched to formal wear. And eloped. Married each other in front of the DJ and everyone. Since this was the venue where they met, it seemed an appropriate place for their vows.

And then the next morning... Teresa was nauseous, so she did a pregnancy test. Looks like the 1% chance of risky woohoo I have set managed to succeed on their wedding night; she's officially pregnant.

Gah. I can only hope they manage to make enough money over the next little while to build a nursery. There's only so much time before the baby is born, and then mere days afterwards before it's ready to become a toddler, and needs its own room instead of just a bassinet tucked in a bit of open space in their bedroom. At least they just finished having time off over the weekend, so they'll be bringing home wages pretty steadily for the next few days. And both their careers have the "work from home" option, so looking after the baby should be pretty easily handled.
