in middle school, his class was preparing for a school play, he and his classmate got cast as the main lead prince and princess

coincidentally, they both had a crush on each other and had a scene where they kissed

technically they weren’t supposed to, since its just a play, but one time they were practicing in private and wanted to try kissing “for real”

so they shared a super giggly cute middle school first kiss but well UNFORTUNATELY FOR HIM HIS QUIRK HAD WELL DEVELOPED–

there’s a big fight that happens between the teachers, principal, and parents of both parties

of course the crush’s parents got mad and called their kid a fuckin uhhhhh sexual predator or some shit despite also beING THE SAME AGE AND NOT EVEN KNOWING ABT HIS OWN QUIRK LIKE HELLLO

obviously an incident like this is going to spread like wildfire but the principal does not want something like this to leak, especially since it was not on purpose and was a total accident

the other kid’s parents and some teachers did not feel comfortable however, and sato was forced to drop out

but not wanting to spread the gossip about their son’s quirk and the incident, they leave the town and move someplace else

thankfully, the principal gives the sato family his good grades and a recommendation to a decent highschool for the trouble

they’re originally from osaka, but moved to tokyo

this is where they start taking precautions with sato, basically teaching him to be careful with his saliva

it was easily taught and learned esp since the mom was already like that around him and others everyday anyway!! she has to take care of her saliva-based infection quirk, after all

HIGH SCHOOL

he got enrolled into a regular highschool in tokyo

no hero course, no support course, no business, just a regular ol’ school

if before, he loved surrounding himself with people, this was where he was forced to develop a lonely disposition to protect himself and others

at least his parents were very protective and supportive of him and they were generally a happy family!

but in school, pretending to be quirkless was just as difficult, getting bullied or pitied for having no special abilities

his excuse for wearing a mask all the time was because his mother had a virus-related quirk, and had to be careful

one day his dad was suddenly got really, really sick

the more he had an excuse to wear a mask because he didnt want to get whatever disease his father started to develop

sato started thinking it could be his mother (but why?) the results didn’t say anything about an unknown virus killing him (which is his mom’s quirk), and that his father really did contract a strong yet very normal disease

while on his second year in highschool, his father, yozo sato, died

apparently, without him knowing anything about his parents, his mother, oba sato, was actually under the dad’s infatuation quirk this whole time

she realised she wasn’t really in love with him when oba had accidentally allowed a drop of her saliva to fall into the meal she was making him, making him sick, and therefore making him weak enough to deactivate his quirk on her

oba, back in her college years, wanted to marry someone else but yozo, who had a crush on her wanted her to himself, used his quirk to make him fall in love with her

so in revenge for making her put up with him all these years to the point of marriage and having a kid, she continued to do this to his food

her quirk doesn’t make anybody sick enough to die, but it made her husband’s immune system weak enough to the point that it contracted a real, serious disease which he ended up dying from instead

sato only finds out the real story when he graduates from highschool, days right after his graduation the mom confesses it all

she does say she truly loves him, but can’t stay around him knowing he was technically “unconsensual love”

sato gets reminded of what his quirk does, and true enough, that’s what him and his quirk turned out to be (a sick combination of his mom and his dad)

they cant bear to be around each other after that revelation and decide to just not see each other again

COLLEGE YEARS

he enrolls into an education course, inspired by the kind principal who helped him finish his middleschool-highschool education when it all started going downhill

sato struggles paying for his college fees esp since he doesn’t exactly have his parents supporting him anymore, nor any contact with immediate family

he has a lot of part time jobs that go all around the clock, he continues pretending to be quirkless so he gets bullied, and has to deal with all that emotional baggage plus being alone so…….clearly my man is TIRED as hell

his side job hustles include: convenience store cashier, bookstore attendant, bar bouncer, and rookie gym trainer (he went to the local gym long enough for him to get recommended a job as a trainer)

college was that point where he starts developing a hardcore yearning for a companion because oh my god hes so lonELY (but cant)

ANYWAY SO

there’s this bully guy who always picks on him in college (for being “quirkless” and a loner and overall a fuckin weirdo with a mask)

tbh sato doesnt really give a shit he’s so used to it but he doesnt have his mother as an excuse to wear the mask anymore, this is where he starts forming the “I have bad breath” excuse

“口臭い” (kuchi kusai) translates to “bad breath” or “stinky mouth” so sato unlovingly gets nicknamed “kusato”

one day he’s walking around the campus at night and finds the bully with his gang cornering another quirkless student, with plans of assaulting her

sato was never the hero type, and was about to ignore the commotion as to not get involved, but something in him moved on its own and he found himself face to face with the gang

he confronts them, but the bully mocks both him and the girl for not having powers to stop them anyway

SIKE BITCH sato’s able to easily strike the other two guys, knock them off their feet enough to be able to tug the to-be victim aside, telling her to report them, before asking her to run away as fast as she can

none of the guys want that (they’re all students) so they have a full on brawl (and this isnt hero academy, its a totally normal university so I wouldn’t assume these guys had very impressive quirks)

except the main bully actually has a pretty decent quirk (he’s like a kinda half human half dragon with sharp claws, scales, and dragon eyes) and gets to injure sato with his sharp claws, seriously injuring his face

a part of his ear is also sort of sliced off, which is how his mask gets accidentally removed in the process

the dragon bully grabs him by the collar and starts angrily shouting at him for ruining his night, being able to do all this shit without a quirk and all and all other derogatory speech

“Well? what do you have to say for yourself?!“

Sato stays silent before spitting right into the bully’s mouth

The bully drops him immediately, about to angrily fuck him up for doing something super fucking gross but WHOOP WHOOP YOU KNOW WHATS BOUTTA HAPPEN the quirk works immediately and the bully is a TOTAL MESS on the ground

Im going to TLDR this part cos its…obviously nsfw but like: sato fully embarrasses him in public (beside the bully’s two colleges nonetheless)

sato stays in the hospital for some time to heal from his wounds

fortunately, afterwards, the bullies all get expelled

unfortunately for sato, he also gets expelled for engaging in bad behaviour, and the bully did say what happened to him (and the college principal did not want his…dangerous quirk on campus) so as to lower any incident, all four were expelled

at least without having to pay for college fees anymore, he could fully focus on paying for food, shelter, and clothes

minus of course the hospital bills needed to pay plus he got a sick ass scar from it anyway HAHAHAHA BSDJHJRHDHF

ADULT LIFE

he had a lot of jobs here and there, but was more or less doing best as a trainer at a local gym where people weren’t allowed to use their quirks and strengthen their body regularly

a few years went by and he eventually shrugged off everything that happened in his final college years but one day someone familiar walked into the gym! It was the fellow college student he saved!!!

she became a policewoman who wanted to get stronger in this quirkless friendly gym and hadn’t given up on her dreams of being a “hero,” inspired by how sato saved her that day

sato never really saw himself as some hero, he was left many nights alone thinking about how easily he could become a villain with his quirk, so hearing that really made him happy

he trains her as her gym coach and she eventually asks him to join her patrol this small part of the city from a gang that was currently going around doing crimes since he’s good at it anyway, saying she could use some extra hands hehe

so yeah!! he does this side gig with her where he patrols alongside her looking for gang crimes and such c:

YES okay. okay let me rant for a minute. let me preface this by saying i am NOT a kpop shipper at ALL. this is going to be long so i’ll put it under a’ ‘read more’ because i’ve been holding it in for TWO FUCKING YEARS BABY!

being mlm in boygroup kpop fandom is literally so exhausting. 99% of the people who ship real life human men from boygroups are fetishists and i will tell u why

obviously we all know of a ship in a fandom where the characters' personalities are twisted to fit the heteronormative view of "top" and "bottom" --one character is hypermasculine (top) and the other one is feminine (bottom). there are typical traits associated with both. the ‘top’ is scary or mean or angry or serious while the ‘bottom’ is emotional or bubbly or shy. while this is egregious, at least its fictional characters. their personalities can be simplified or exaggerated and it doesnt cause any real life harm.

im going to define what i think of as a fetishist: a non-mlm person who overly sexualizes gay men/men they think are gay/gay ships, and forces them into heteronormative roles for their own pleasure. its not even limited to cishet women. plenty of non-mlm lgbt people do this too and its like disheartening. so anyways

enter the kpop fandom

i may be incredibly biased here because one of the most affected members [of bts] is my favorite kpop boy, but oh god is the ‘personality change/simplification’ thing AWFUL here. i do not go out of my way to find fanart or see fanfic threads, but being in the bts fandom, u will inevitably see it and i REALLY wish i didnt

so anyways. my favorite boy ever is hoseok. he is sweet and hardworking and very passionate about dance and he can be serious when needed, but ultimately he tries to be very lighthearted and will consistently laugh or make jokes or do something funny when the other members feel uncomfortable or awkward (mostly during english-speaking interviews). he kisses the members on the cheek a lot/hugs them a lot/cuddles them a lot [this is important for later okay]

of course, theres a lot more to him because he is a multi-faceted real life human being, and i don’t know him personally, but that’s a general idea of what he’s like, okay?

SHIPPERS will have you think differently. some video got popular on youtube ""proving"" that hoseok is a sadist (which is just clips of him jokingly playfighting with the younger members), and the video depicts him as secretly mean and serious, and shippers will use that to say "hoseok is a total top!" and then most fanart or imagines or fanfic threads you see are top!hoseok, using this imagined 'hoseok is a sadistic dom' narrative to fuel their fiction, because SOMEONE has to be the top, so they twist him into this hypermasculine mean person (and probably feminize the 'bottom' of their ship but more on that later)

EXCEPT it is not just fiction. this narrative bleeds into REAL LIFE. you have new armys who dont know anything about the shipping scene, and yet somehow the narrative of hoseok being a secretly mean, sadistic person has already made its way into them. in real life, hoseok likes rainbows and wearing nail stickers and putting glitter in his hair. yet people in the fandom will say shit like "hoseok hates femininity" "hoseok would never wear [thing] because he's a dom"

sometimes on twitter you have ppl like me who say uh actually you guys are really weird and this is fetishy and in real life hoseok is very nice and not sadistic at all, you will UNDOUBTEDLY get comments like "omg hoseok isnt cute/nice when will yall learn he’s secretly like [x] and [x]". you could post a video of hoseok with a puppy titled "wow cute" and u will get like 2 clowns in ur comments going 'hoseok isnt CUTE hes a sadist’ . i wish i was joking but i am not. they will do this for EVERY action hoseok does. he cannot blink without people twisting it into a sexual thing

[also, side note: its funny that, since hoseok is one of the least popular members and therefore one of the least shipped members, he is often the odd man out among pairings, and is assigned 'the straight one' by default, and 9 times out of 10 people who assign him 'the straight one' do all this 'dom daddy hoseok' shit.

which just goes to show that this is indeed a matter of heteronormativity.]

so anyways arguably the most popular ship with hoseok is with yoongi, sope. this absolutely happens to other ships probably but im just using them as an example because i see it the most, being a hobi stan

yoongi is very calm and thoughtful and kind and sometimes appears to be cold/having a bad attitude but its just because of the way he speaks, which is very bluntly. again hes a multi faceted real human and i do not know him personally but thats generally what hes like.

god the fandom. treats him SO BAD. so horribly. he's shorter than hoseok. he's shorter than hoseok and people will exaggerate that literal 1 inch height difference so bad and people will turn his whole personality into shy and blushy and In Love With Hoseok, so in love with hoseok that ‘he gets sad’ when hoseok doesn’t kiss him/hug him/or whatever and IT BLEEDS INTO REAL LIFE.

ANY time hoseok or yoongi do ANYTHING together at ALL, people will ALWAYS push the narrative that hoseok, being the mean sadist he is, is 'hurting' yoongi for not returning his undying love or whatever. hoseok did a vlive where he made bracelets for all the members and he considered putting a cat charm on yoongi's but ultimately decided not to because he was having difficulty and oh my GOD sope stans twisted it into 'hoseok HATES yoongi, yoongi would have been so happy, he would have worn that all the time, hoseok isnt affectionate he hates being close with other people after all :(' which is LITERALLY not true because hoseok gives all his homies good night kisses but okay! whatever fits your narrative!

PEOPLE ACTUALLY HATE HOSEOK BECAUSE OF THIS. BECAUSE OF A SHIP. BECAUSE OF THE MANUFACTURED NARRATIVE PUSHED ONTO HIM BY FETISHISTS SO HE COULD FIT INTO THEIR HETERONORMATIVE ‘TOP’ ROLE. not to be all wahh wahh hoseok is one of the least popular members BUT THIS IS LITERALLY A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR.

everyone """headcanons""" hoseok to be a top so they will make him a MEAN HYPERMASCULINE person. everyone """headcanons""" yoongi as a bottom so they will make him a SOFT UWU HYPERFEMININE person. shippers are literally pigeonholing the two of them into fujoshi-esque roles for jack-off material.

anyways this all boils down to: gay fetishists will do anything, ANYTHING, to twist characters or real life fucking people to fit their heteronormative view of top and bottom. top=mean and masculine, bottom=soft and feminine. hoseok is a real life human being. yoongi is a real life human being. they both have real life human personalities, and yet shippers twist their personalities into the opposite to fit their narrative, to the point where nonshippers will genuinely view the two of them as something theyre not.

you have tons of armys that theorize that hoseok's happiness is just a mask he puts on to hide a cruel nature. on twitter. on youtube. in fanart and fanfiction. you have tons of armys that truly believe that, despite literally all the evidence, believe he hates being cute, he hates being happy, he hates the members, and hes secretly a dom daddy fuckboy who wants to bend yoongi over a table. hes a real life human being and fetishists doing their fetish thing has real life consequences.

the same is true for bottom!hoseok stans: they overexaggerate his more cutesy personality traits and he does have a 'feminine' figure i.e. he has a rly small waist but they will overexaggerate that as well and give him huge hips and its disgusting but dom!hoseok is far more frequent with far more devastating consequences so i used that as an example but they’re both bad.

people who """"headcanon"""" [like actually headcanon/firmly believe and not just joking or lighthearted] that members are gay will force these types of roles onto the members. if someone genuinely believes that like, yoongi is gay/bi/whatever, and then try to force this subby soft uwu persona onto him, they have no respect for gay people. they dont. gay people are simply objects for their fantasies. their view of gay people is so one-dimensional and so driven by fetishists’ ideas that its actually disheartening.

and god bitches will deadass be homophobic yet still ship real ass human idols. not just for bts specifically but all boygroup fandoms. sometimes when you search up an idol's name, [idol] gay will be trending--whether it be because of people saying "im gay for him" or whatever, and a LOT of cishet people will try 'clearing' the searches because being gay is bad or something. people normally ‘clear’ the searches if something like [idol fat] or [idol ugly] are trending, which im telling you so you know the context that people only clear the searches when bad things are happening.

OKAY LETS START THIS OFF WITH A BANG! This is the first Bucky CEO story I’ve ever read, and it was like an amazing Segway into this AU. So reader has a crush on her boss, he supposedly doesn’t like her back, so she joins a dating website where she meets this mysterious guy and falls in love. Crazy right? Even more so that it’s actually her boss?? This was a fantastic story filled with mutual pining, fluff, some perfectly timed angst, but most of all, some of the softest Bucky towards the end that I have ever been blessed to read. I want him to talk to me like that :( really loved this one!

All My Stars by @moonstruckbucky

Let’s go right into another amazing story. So this one is about Bucky boring FCC a new assistant, one who he basically falls in love with, and oh holy hell shes engaged. Let’s see how this turns out. So I will say it’s not finished yet, but I think what’s there is amazing enough to warrant a place on this list! Meg is a genius in how she writes the dynamic between characters. You feel for all of them no matter what, Bucky is detached and the reader is oblivious and you just want to shove them together like dolls and make them fall in love! It’s definitely a rollercoaster ride, and I’m excited to possibly see where it ends up :)

OH THIS ONE IS SO SWEET! Okay so this one is about the reader wanting to give her boss Bucky Barnes chocolate on Valentine’s Day, when she sees she got some flowers. So when I say sweet I mean tooth rotting fluff holy hell I loved it. They’re both the biggest shy dorks who obviously have feeling for them and it really made my heart swell to ungodly proportions it was not okay. Bucky is the sweetest most nervous boy, and the reader isn’t much better. In a matter of like 1k words I was already immersed and invested in this possible relationship it was crazy! Amazing

Pleasure and Business by @notimetoblog

OK wow, this one is just fantastic. So James and the reader are set to make a deal. So there’s something about this one that’s just really mysterious, like throughout the whole story you kind a know what’s going on but also you don’t, it’s a really good story and really unique when it comes to CEOs stories because the reader seems to hold the place of power as well, I also really really love the dynamic between the two characters because it’s really playful and loving and lighthearted even in this business setting, and I never really completely got what The business deal they were making was, but honestly it doesn’t even matter because the story was so good.

LOL, OK so this one. All I’ll say, is that the reader is Buckys good luck charm, and he needed it for a specific business call. This one was a trip. it was filthy, but written so well. And just the general storyline, while he’s on the phone made it exciting like not just because it was sexy but because it was just really like oh my God what’s going to happen is he going to get caught?! And man Bucky has a mouth on him, but I’m not gonna spoil it but let me just tell you, Suz has a way with endings. I genuinely didn’t expect it and That made it that much more awesome

The Man by @interestedbystanderwrites ***

Oof! This one! Now this one was amazing. So this one was about the raider going to her exes wedding, when she meets Bucky Barnes, who just so happens to own the hotel the wedding is held that. there are night leads to some down and dirty times, which is how all times like these should. This one was just really fun to read, because not only was it smut but it was also interwoven into a storyline, and at the end you’re really left wanting more. There’s a little hint of sugar daddy in there at the end, which makes it like even more interesting. Super good.

Late nights at the office by @after-avenging-hours ***

Oh I love this one! And I think I love it because it’s a really amazing mix of the storyline, and really well written smut. So this one is about Bucky being the readers boss, and there’s a deal coming up so he sends her a request to get something done by a day that causes miscommunication between them. So I really like this one because Bucky isn’t portrayed as like a jerk boss as he is and some other stories which is really refreshing, like he was genuinely sad that there was that miscommunication and she stayed after, and I think that made it all the more rewarding when they didn’t have sexy times because you actually really liked both characters. And it was well written, and you were left wanting to know what goes on with them in the future. Lovely.

Surprise visit by @imaginingbucky

okay so I really love this one. It’s super sweet, Bucky is a very busy CEO, and the reader is an extremely patient and understanding girlfriend. It was really cute, especially the end. I love stories like this where Bucky is genuinely a good guy who loves his girlfriend and understands that he’s not being the most available to her. I love seeing the moment he realized he needed to do something, and honestly just seeing healthy relationships in fics is so refreshing, and it was really well written.

Ohhhhh this one is like an OG favorite of mine. So this one is about suave cocky Bucky Barnes getting everything he wants in life, until you. The reader comes in and shakes his whole world and it’s the cutest. Seeing the tension they have throughout the story is exciting, but my absolute favorite part was the fact that throughout the story you can see his love her her change from lust to love, or at least that’s how I saw it. And like you also got to know him and understand him over time. It was a great read, unique story line, loved it!

Okay! So now we have a man awesome POC!reader story!! I love this one, I don’t know if I would qualify it as a series of oneshots but maybe that’s what it is, either way it’s great. So it’s a series of moments that showcase certain parts of the readers life and her relationship with Bucky. This is just a really sweet story, it really showcases the life of a POC In the discriminating world, especially when it comes to business, and it really opened my eyes to how I read these stories. Bucky is also super sweet, When he loves, he loves hard and with his whole self and you can really see it in this story. It’s beautiful.

Okay! So this one I loved. It’s about the reader moving to New York to start a new life after a breakup. She wants to be a photographer, and in that time, she received a text from a wrong number. Let the whirlwind romance begin! It’s cute, it’s funny, it’s SOFT BUCKY! It’s really just a whole package haha. Tongue Tied by @soldatbarnes ***

Oh this one was spicy. So it’s about Bucky being really stressed and busy at work, and his wife coming up with a plan to help him relax. That plan is very sexual, and provides a wonderful story to read lol. But I also like the tender aspect of their relationship that you see in little snippets, you can tell they really care about each other over everything else. And I think that’s really important to see in these CEO stories because usually he’s a jerk.

So this is a story about Bucky being stressed at work, and you deciding to help him relax. Obviously that answer is sexual lol, the best way don’t we all know. This was very smutty, not much to it other than smut, but it was really well written and very entertaining haha. Also, loved the little snarky back and forth at the end, it was cute!

Ohhhhhhh buddy, now this is a killer one. So this one is about the reader goes out to celebrate a promotion, had a wonderful one night stand, and surprise? That guy was her boss. What could go wrong? This one was so awesome. Daisy is such a great writer, and this is a prime example. There were so many twists and turns and it was actually realistic you know? Like there wasn’t a perfect story, they messed up, he messed up, and it wasn’t all sunshine’s and rainbows. The reader stood up for herself and I really admire that!

The description is right! This is so damn fluffy I cant handle it! So it’s about the reader and Bucky spending quality time together after he’s been super busy at work. It’s so freaking cute, all of the flashbacks, the way you can see that they truly genuinely care about eachother. Like, it’s one of my favorite things to see a relationship consisting of two people who love eachother. Nothin Better than reading about love. And Bucky, god Bucky is the sweetest in this! And let me say, I will also love Bucky Barnes forever.

- To be honest not the best but also not the worst in dealing with you being upset or anxious. Just doesn't really know what to do for you.

- Asmo never really thought he would/ would ever want to get married to someone. Be with only one person forever? No.

- BUT, then he met you and started to understand more of the appeal to marriage.

- Talking about marriage obviously the topic of kids came up as well. Was against the idea from, well ever. Asmo thought kids would really cut into things he enjoys so his whole life he never wanted any. “Y/n think about it, I hear countless stories about how kids have messed with peoples sleep and sex life with their partner. And I don't want that for either of us.” lol

- But just like the idea of marriage the other shoes dropped. About a year or two in Asmodeus started feeling something he could put his finger on when he would see families walk past him One day you notice him looking at family of 3 playing around as you were talking a walk past the park. You ask what's wrong and he just says, “I want that for us.” (Was that too grossly mushy? lol)

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

- I think its pretty even between you two, maybe about 40/60

- Prefers to be a bit more on the dominant side a lot of days but also loves if any kinda dominant side comes out of you, take that as you will 😉

F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

- If he gets really pouty over something he’ll give you a cold shoulder/silent treatment, but it never lasts too long.

- You’ll give him space thinking thats what he needs to cool down and then like 2 hours later he’ll come to you asking, “Why are you ignoring me? I’m ignoring you and you’re just ok with that?” You usually have to come to him after a scuffle.

- But he’ll come to you if he thinks he really hurt you.

G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

- Asmo is always overwhelmingly dramatic about the kinda love you two share and how no-one else will ever understand what you both have, yadda yadda yadda lol

- I don't think Asmodeus really knows what you do for him on a deeper level

- His brothers and others around him notice a subtle change in his demeanor, such as he doesn’t really flirt as much with others as he used to (still does but not like before he met you) You seem to be the one he really dumps the flirtatious charm on.

H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide form their s/o? Or do they share everything?

- Asmo is a pretty open book, well when it comes to what he wants to do with you and how you make him feel

- But really deep emotions, more “ugly” emotions are harder for him to surface

I nspired - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

- You kinda showed Asmo the enjoyment of having that one person that you can always come back to, and not needing a list of people in his back pocket to be fulfilled.

And

- Asmodeus helped show you or delve more into your sexuality, and you as a sexual being. Not in just a raunchy filthy way, but also your sensuality. Taking enjoyment/more enjoyment in taking care of yourself and knowing what it is you want, for you to feel fulfilled as well

- You helped show and taught each other about fulfillment, in both a relationship or on your own, how cute are you guys lol

J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

- Says he doesn't get jealous, “Why would I get jealous? I mean you really think I would ever worry you’d leave me?” *laughs*

- But can be a bit jealous, more so in a territorial/protective way, doesn't try and start a fight with the other person/demon but makes it known that you are his lover and that the other person has no chance with you anyways.

- Can be catty at times

- But deep deep down he does has a little thought of what if you did leave him, but it would take a lot for him to admit that (Refer back to letter H)

K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

- He’s the avatar of lust this is kinda his thing 😂

- The first kiss shared between you wasn't planned, at least not on your part. Asmo kinda stole the first kiss between you, leaving you shocked and rosy cheeked and him with an innocent smile, but you both knew he was far from innocent in that moment.

L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

- Its hard to tell if his confession holds much strong truth. Considering love seems to slip out of his mouth quit easily.

- But when he really means it you’ll know.

- When he truly confessed he was a bit nervous which was odd for the normally confident demon. Instead of putting on a whole show about it, he decided the best would be to pull you aside just the two of you outside one night. Held your hands, you could be sworn you saw a blush across his cheeks but he always denies that you did. Once he confessed you kissed him deeply returning the sentiment with your touch.

M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

- Never planned to get married, always stating “I’m a bird who cant be caged.” or “I have so much love to give, it might be unfair to just give it to one person.”

- But meeting you made him feel something, still doesn't know if he wants to get married but a life partner still warms him in a way that he cant deny the allure of marriage.

N icknames - What do they call their s/o?

Nicknames he gives you: What doesn’t he call you? but his favs are, Baby-girl, | My Sweet, | My God/Goddess (when he’s being really dramatic), | Baby,|

- With Asmo its hard to tell because with any lover (long or short term) he’s always over the top but with you something seemed to have shifted.

- His eccentric behavior didn't stop but he seemed more serious about you

- Took awhile for his brothers to believe it because of past “loves” of his

P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o on front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

- Do I even need to answer this?

- Asmodeus will take up any opportunity to show off his lover

- No holds barred when it comes to PDA, if he wants to kiss you, he’ll kiss you. If he wants to caress your body, he’ll caress your body.

- Asmo as we all know is a charmer

- Asmo can get to that really hard core cheesy romantic mode

- Asmo is like a cheerleader lol

- He will get excited/celebrate when you reach a mile stone or one step closer to your goal(s)

- Asmo loves to please you (I'm many ways 😏 not the time for that lol) by helping you relax, he doesn’t like seeing you tense because he feels so connected to you so when you don't feel good he doesn’t feel good.

When Asmodeus sees that you’ve had a hard/tiring day at school/work or just having an off day, he likes to run you a nice bath. And not just a tub with some bubbles no no, he dresses that bath up to the nines. We’re talking bubble bath, bath salts, bath bombs, candles, & your favorite cold drink so you don't over heat while you relax and unwind from your day.

If you let him he would love to come in and wash your hair and possible more if you so please...😏

To then finish off the night with snuggles, whilst intertwined feel free to swat away any wondering hands if he gets a bit carried away during these sweet moments lol

X OXO - Are they very affectionate? Do they love to kiss and cuddle?

- Is that even a question

- Touching time, is happy time for our boy Asmo lol

Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

- When Asmodeus misses you he will send you doting messages of him thinking about you and how he cant wait to see you later

- Selfies of him going about his day

Z eal - Are they willing to go to great lengths for the relationship? If so, whaat kind of?

- Asmodeus loves you greatly, so he would want to do anything to please you (in more than one way 😉) and keep you happy.

- But make sure you are doing the same (If not a little more) cause if its not being given both ways he might pull away, cause who would want to be in a relationship thats only/feels only one way?!

Another reason people probably didnt like Symphonia their first time but later loved it is because of the themes and undertones. Here is another essay that's going to be a very quick Symphonia walkthrough as a young child playing.

Here's a warning: I mention some stuff that happens in Symphonia. It will be mostly vague but there will be mention of death. There also might be some spoilers in here but nothing too serious, just some of the beginning story more than likely.

Let me begin by saying the box art looks pretty cool for the Gamecube but the front and back does look like a very, very young child's RPG. It seems like an RPG that was creates for super young children that havent hit there teens or are in the very first years of being a teen.

I'm about to give a quick walkthrough as if I am a very young kid playing Symphonia for the first time. This is to show why a lot of people had this as their first game in the series but didnt like it. Why a lot of people weren't the biggest fans until their second playthrough or when they gave it another chance and realized it is absolutely stunning. A top 10 game of all time across every platform created.

First off, there was a lot of adult themes and tones in Symphonia. Obviously, I dont mean nudity or sexually explicit material. I'm talking about the Desian Camps. The idea that millions of people are being captured, put to work, then put to death or letting them die. These type of adult themes.

The first time we played, we were young. We didnt get choked up or super sentimental about what was going on in video games. We didn't care so much about the parallels between real life and our video games. Usually, we just wanted something fun to play. I mentioned it earlier but the start of Symphonia looks super childish and like it's going to be a lighthearted adventure. You have a cast of kids (2 very young adults that added comedy and badassness). A majority of the beginning fights are snakes, birds, bunnies, and bears. The battle system is fun but also easy enough to get the hang of. You can honestly button mash with the occasional arte and not worry about combos . You didnt have to worry about combos at all, really, and just use artes when you wanted. Some of the artes were pretty cool looking and strong too which added more of a "wow, the combat system is cool. There's attacks and a bunch of power attacks you can use. You can also move around and dont have to wait like a turn base game." It's also possible to just button mash or use all your MP on Artes and really kick their ass.

Combining all of those elements together makes it seem more kid friendly than it really is. Playing through the start makes you feel like a 10 year old playing his first RPG with an age appropriate game since you control a bunch of kids. The fights are easy and usually bees or some weak animal. Nothing serious, really. The artes are cool and the more artes you learn, the cooler and more fun Lloyd gets. It's cool to play as Lloyd when you learn a new arte or two.

So far everything has been pretty lighthearted. This RPG is fun, the characters are pretty cool and can be funny. The dungeons aren't super confusing. It's just a fun game overall but nothing spectacular or crazy. Really the worst thing that has happened is "Desians bad. They destroy hometown over something stupid."

Marble's scene is the only real adult sad part in the game so far. They kill Marble in a way that you kind of don't get crushed by emotions. They let you down pretty easy and you get Marble's ring for Genis so now she is always with you. Her death isn't too bad because she was old and it was just one old woman in the game. It's sad but not devastating. Also the Ranch. They use them as slaves. But tbh it doesn't really hit you that they resemble real world stuff and you dont see the parallels like you should. You just kind of write it off as shitty and Desians are evil and the bad guys. Surely you save everyone from the ranches and that's the point of the game. Kill Desians and save everyone.

You get to the dessert oasis where Colette crashed through the wall. Cute and funny. Oh, Lloyd and Genis get captured by bad Desians but the wanted posters were bad so it made it funny. Eventually, You escaped the bad, bad Desians and are back with your friends, yay!!! You go to the fire shrine, finally see more menacing enemies but they still arent that bad, and start your first puzzle dungeon! It's short but a lot of fun with a boss fight. It was a little tough but fun!! You beat the shrine, yay!!!

The serious Angel (Remiel) comes down again and talks to Colette and the gang. He gives her wings! She is becoming an angel. At this point you are thinking, "How cool. Colette is becoming an angel!!! She has wings now and can probably fly wherever she wanted to go! This game is really fun. It's not bad at all. The weapons and equipment aren't difficult and it's fun buying or finding stuff better than what you have and equipping the new stuff. The skits can be funny too and I get to know the characters better with the skits. This game is really cool, actually." It's time to speed this post up, though. I'll be going faster and doing more short versions/storytelling.

We sail across seas and bow we are at Palmacosta!!! Here's where things get a little weird and stuff too. So Palmacosta is cool. We look through town, only to find imposters. That's right. These fools are pretending to be me and my gang. Im the one with a cool group and shit. People wanna be me so bad!!! Lol.

By the way. General Dorr is also the Mayor of Palmacosta.

Imposters are rude and we meet mayor who seems cool till he tells us he thought the imposters were us and gave them a book we need. So....little me is like

"YOU DID WHAT!?" .... so we leave. Lol

We go to mountain gate, cant pass yet, learn Palmacosta is under attack by ... you guessed it... Desians. ,

*little me has eyes stretch wide open* But I was just there!!!! Sucks, I know.

So we head back and make it to Palmacosta. Remember the girl we saved from extreme questioning and customers that were badgering the girl since she was the store clerk/owner. Of course not. I never mentioned it. I saved her back then at the start of Palmacosta. Naturally they chose Chocolate, in some weird, sick revenge way for me making them look weak when they verbally attacked her. So Chocolate is about to hang and be killed. Some stuff happens and Lloyd ends up using his sword to save Chocolate. Boom. He is a hero. He saved someone from hanging....

Wait.... hanging? In kids game? Damn that's a little intense for a kids game but I guess you do save her. Carry on.....

So let's speak to the Mayor. He was conveniently gone while that was happening but meh. Coincidence right? Yeah. Yeah.

Talking to the General/Mayor we decide to go rescue everyone who has been kidnapped from Palmacosta. By the way there's a ranch for most cities that Desian's manage. So there is a Palmacosta Ranch and a bunch of people from Palmacosta are now held prisoners in the Ranch. Boo! But I digress.

Off to Palmacosta ranch!!! We finally reach it and... oh look... General Dorr"s personal Aide/Assistant. What's this? He is a traitor!? You've got to be kidding me! I trusted that dude!!! Maybe that will teach little me to be careful about who I hang out with. A pretty good life lesson for little me and nothing too serious. I'll handle that later though, and rescue the prisoners in the Palmacosta Ranch.

We save Chocolate but she would almost rather die than be saved by you. So you save her but not without a fight and learning some shocking stuff that little me is like "WHAAAA!!!???!??? NO WAY NO WAY NO WAY!!!!!!!! she still lives cause of you and you fight the leader of the Ranch and win that battle!!!

So yay!!! You won the battle and beat Palmacosta Ranch! Good job little you! You did awesome!!! The game has been really great, with a pretty light tone for the most part. Everything is bright, the enemies arent that bad at all, nothing truly fucked up has ha---"we're going to blow up the Ranch with people still in it" -Raine.

That's right.... "YOU'RE GONNA WHAT!?!?"

So yeah, we blow up Palmacosta Ranch. Desians were probably still inside along with a janitor named Chet that everyone forgot about lol. So bye bye Ranch!!!

"That got dark really fast and Raine is pretty ruthless but most people escaped. I guess I can kind of forgive that. This game is definitely darker than I thought but it could be worse. Most people escaped anyways I am sure. So it's not that bad." -me.

Back to Palmacosta to confront the traitor General Dorr!! Here we are! General Dorr and his daughter are standing suspiciously in the basement of the government building in Palmacosta. I'm sure he knows that he has been found out. I know he tried to sabotage the Chosen's journey. He has no exc--- OH NO! They got his wife with the Demon Seed, too!! Now she is a monster! No wonder he is a traitor. He is trying to get a potion which is the cure to save his wife. I kind of get it but that's pretty messed up. He is basically being held hostage. This game just got a little darker.... but it could be worse, I suppo----WHAT!? HIS DAUGHTER IS A DEMON! DID SHE JUST SAY SHE KILLED HIS DAUGHTER A LONG TIM AGO AND HE WAS TOO STUPID TO NOTICE!?"

She really just called him stupid and is acting like he is the biggest idiot for not knowing she killed his daughter!!! This whole time she has pretended to be his daughter. That means she probably went to her school, played with her friends, talked to her dad and played with him. She probably told him she loved him which is so messed up. She also knew there was no potion but continued to watch him and be ready to kill him if he tried to snitch about his wife. This got dark really fucking fast wtf!!! She is a complete demon stranger in a girls body pretending she loves her daddy, plays with friends, and does child things but is a demon the whole time. "I love you daddy says the demon pretending to be your daughter. That's really sick and twisted. Sad thing is little me is like "well that's weird. How did no one notice at all she was acting odd?

Maybe she didn't have any friends and her dad is to distracted about the medicine for his wife, he doesn't notice.

That's absolutely crazy and completely dark. Woah. This game is way way darker than it lead me to believe when I was young. That was pretty much my first reaction/playthrough when I was little. Symphonia is dark as fuck.

I played a little bit further to the next ranch my first playthrough but quit when I found out they were killing people like it was nothing. I was really little then, too, btw. I quit because it got really dark and kind of weird and complicated to fully grasp everything going on and the parallels to the real world. I always played RPGs relating it to real life and such. I have done that since my first RPG so with Symphonia I had to quit. It was too dark and weird when I first played it.

Once I came back and beat Symphonia I thought it was Brilliant. It was absolutely amazing and worth so much more praise. I loved it and still do. Even the dark side of things.

Turns out I am not the only one who did this. Play through, reach a dark part or part where you realize how dark it is, and then quit. I'm glad I picked it back up, though. It's almost a perfect game!!!

So yeah... here's a playthrough of little me and Symphonia. I was too little to be playing games with dark themes even if they were short or small. I say this because I was stupid small and really let my imagination run wild when I played games and read. I often make things 20 times worse so I really shouldn't have played Symphonia till later.

Anyways it's amazing. Nearly perfect.

i realised i never requested an actual ikevamp match-up, so imma throw this in here if you don’t mind, please and thank you~.

heterosexual gemini female, isfp, slytherin & chaotic neutral. my style is edgy, but leaning towards casual, too. i like interesting details and aesthetics!

many people say that my initial vibe is pretty intimidating, or at least reserved and mysterious. though, around my friends i am more relaxed and chill, and love to laugh and crack jokes! i also tease a lot~.

but i am, in fact, a reserved person — it takes me a lot of time to open up about my honest feelings and to trust someone. that makes me quite a hermit; i’m on good or neutral terms with many people, but i have just a handful of friends i consider close.

i can be lazy and uninterested, but when something piques my interest or when i’m challenged, i can be a very, very stubborn one! i’m opinionated, but i always try to see a bigger picture and imagine the story from different angles — in that way, i consider myself a very realistic person. i used to be more confrontational in the past, and these days i’m more passive. i try to be tolerant, but i can also get annoyed and irritated easily. i am a ‘forgive but don’t forget’ type of person.

i’m extremely curious and have wide palette of interests, some of which are medicine, botany, arts, astronomy, astrology, and such. i love to explore and learn, and i like activities like hiking. spiritual topics are also my thing, and i simply love to think and wonder. i may like to bake, but the domestic jobs in general aren’t my jam. i also get bored very easily!

i like to be helpful, and my self-worth is defined by being useful or making other smile, so i like giving gifts to my friends, even if it’s just buying them their favourite chocolate bar or so. that ‘giving’ trait of mine is not quite well known, though, and i suppose that it is because of my initial personality that people consider me rather selfish and self-centred instead.

my love language is definitely physical touch, along with giving gifts or acts of service. i’m pretty much touch starved — i will kiss, hug, even bite someone shamelessly and out of endearment ( i can be the tough love kind ). i can also have a bit darker tendencies, but generally i simply crave intimacy. in those terms, i’m more of a 'actions speak louder than words’ person, as i find it embarrassing and shallow to say 'i love you’ often or too soon. i will be poetically affectionate, though.

i do not act affectionate in front of people, though, so if you ask most of my classmates, you’ll probably hear about how they think that i must despise anything to do with contact and lovey stuff.

in terms of romantic interests and relationships, i’m someone who appreciates communication, trust and intellectual bond along with the physical one. i’m also not a fan of people who are uncertain in terms of their feelings or are unstable or unreliable as partners.

They eagerly loaded up their plated munching down on the stack, to say Vincent was in love would be an understatement. Those were truly the best pancakes he had ever eaten in his whole life. The blond man stuffed his face with the light and airy pancakes. He low key looked like a cute chipmunk with the way he eagerly chomped down every last pancake on his plate. You sat down beside them and smiled at a job well down. Once the stack vanished, Vincent beamed his sunshine smile at you and asked if you would make him pancakes again sometime, cause they were honestly just so good. Even Theo chimed in giving you a compliment in his own way.

You helped Sabastian out with the housework, but honestly, you were getting bored you never really liked doing too many domestic work type tasks. As you cleaned, you wandered into a bright room filled to the brim with painting and art supplies. You couldn’t help but marvel at the gorgeous painting hung on the wall. It was just filled with so much emotion and seemed to come, alive telling a story of wonder and hidden beauty. You were awakened out of your reverie by a soft voice, “are you also a fellow lover of the arts.” You gave Vincent a small smile and nod. Vincent then told you that he was on his way with Napoleon to give an Art class to his students and invited you along with him.

You spent the afternoon with Vincent painting and honestly having the best time with the children. It wasn’t an art class as much as a fun time painting and letting your imagination flow onto the canvas.

You honestly loved helping out at this little makeshift school that Napoleon had started. Since that first day, you had been going with Vincent more and more, to help out and teach the children some cool new skills. You loved helping people and making them happy, and to say that the children loved you would be an understatement. They loved coming to you for help with their work, and would always thank you and give you the biggest hug whenever they finally manage to grasp the concept that they had been struggling to understand. Honestly you loved to make people happy and teaching at this street school was way better than doing housework so it was honestly a win win. Plus you got to spend even more time with Vincent which was always filled with smiles and laughter.

Often after teaching the children, you and Vincent would wander around the streets of Paris just taking in the sights. The two of you actually bonded over your mutual love for aesthetics and whenever the two of you would come across and art exhibition, you wouldn't hesitate to enter. The two of you would spend hours looking at the beautiful pieces, appreciating all the interesting details and emotions the artist managed to convey into the art together. You loved spending time with the ray of sunshine, and you couldn’t help but show your true personality with him. As the two of you would wander around town, you found yourself opening up more and more to Vincent and letting him in.

You felt like you could be yourself with him and Vincent absolutely adored you. He loved the jokes you would crack as the two of you would walk around. He found them hilarious, and whenever the two of you were together, Vincent would always be left in a fit of laughter from some or other the joke that you would crack.

Vincent, of course, is used to being teased by Theo, so it is definitely not uncommon for the angel to tease you a little in return as well. Whenever the two of you are together, the room is always filled with smiles and laughter. It has even gotten to that point where you and the angel have inside jokes and whenever someone in the mansion does or says something, both of you lock eyes and burst out laughing

Vincent loved it when you would help him and Theo set up art exhibitions. Not that you complained you loved being helpful and honestly you would do anything the help Vincent, especially if it meant getting to see that radiant smile of his. The more Vincent spent time with you to more utterly and entirely in love, he fell with you.

He loved that you would occasionally give him small, thoughtful little gifts. Every-time, you presented him with a tiny hand made gift his heart melted into a puddle of goo. Of course, don’t think that Vincent has forgotten about you, as often this angel surprises you with tiny trinkets of his own. You seem to have occupied this sweet angels mind, so he cant help but buy you small little gifts that he sees in the shop windows, especially if they remind him of you. He would legit go to the ends of the earth and back just to see that excited glimmer in your eyes whenever he gives you the smallest of gifts. One of you favorite gifts so far was when he presented you with a single flower of your favorite flower, with a small ribbon and note wrapped around its stem to read, “a flower to remind you of how wonderful you are.”

Since finding out that you have in interest in astronomy and astrology, he actually had Isaac make you your very own telescope. He loves to listen to you go on for hours and hours, explaining the difference between the two and teaching him everything you know about astrology and astronomy. He finds it incredibly fascinating. Since learning that you seem to love the night sky, it is not uncommon for him to lead you out into the garden to an awaiting blanket spread out on the floor, so the two of you can stargaze together. He will definitely in these moments ask you more about astronomy as you watch the glimmering universe above you.

You and Vincent love love love to hike and explore different places together. Its always super fun to explore and find a new beautiful scenery to paint and appreciate. Recently the two of you had discovered a field filled with every type of flower imaginable. You would usually stand beside Vincent and paint. But that day you were not really in the mood to do something artsy, so you just sat on a rock in between the beautiful flowers and just wondered and thought, getting wholly and utterly lost in a daydream. Vincent who had turned around to ask you something, saw you staring off into the distance thinking and he just got completely inspired. He turned his easel around and placed a new blank canvas on the stand and started to paint the blinding scene of you sitting among the flowers and butterflies.

When Vincent was done for the day he covered the painting before gently tapping you on the shoulder so that the two of you could make your way back home. You were incredibly curious about the new painting that Vincent had created, more so when Vincent said that you couldn’t see it yet as it was a surprise.

Finally, Vincent had finished the painting of you. With each stroke of the brush painting you among the beautiful scenery, his feelings for you grew stronger and stronger. Vincent invited you to his room that night to give you the painting, and you were overjoyed when you had read what was inscribes at the bottom, “To my dearest sunflower, I love you with all my heart, forever yours Vincent.” Vincent knew that with you, action always spoke louder than words so, in an attempt to make his feeling painfully clear he walked up close to you, until the two of you were nose to nose. He brought his hands to gently cradle your face, and then slowly leaned down to place a tender kiss on your lips.

Vincent loves you with all his heart. He loves that you have a wide variety of interest and will gladly listen to you talk about them for hours and hours. He will even surprise you with a book on the topic of your newest interest. Love it when you sit in his room and read while he paints. Sometimes when he is done painting for the day, he will sit down behind you and wrap his arms around your waist and rest his chin on your shoulder as you continue to get lost in your studies and thirst for knowledge. Sometimes he will read along with you, and then discuss what he had learned with you when you have had enough of reading for the day. He loves to listen to all your opinions and the new thing you had learned, he is especially intrigued when you talk about spiritual topics and will hang onto every word as you tell him everything you learned

He took you to meet his dear friend Shakespeare once and right off the bat you could tell he was up to no good. You tried to be tolerable and passive, however after spending an hour at his mansion you started getting annoyed and irritated. You were a stubborn realistic person who never judged a book by its cover and always strived to see the bigger picture, so you decided not to judge Shakespeare on face value. However, when the day came for the door to open to send you back home, Shakespeare appeared and decided to dictate his own romantic tragedy between you and Vincent.

You could see the story from his angle and perspective and you could also see where he was coming from, but you were definitely not going to passively sit back and let him tear you apart from Vincent.

You had never seen Vincent angry before until that day. Vincent managed to take down Shakespeare and disarm him from the gun he was pointing at you, however, in the tussle, Vincent had been shot twice. Theo had managed to restrain Shakespeare, and you were never more thankful in your life for medical knowledge than at that moment. You and Arthur managed to patch Vincent up and thanks to his vampiric abilities he was recovering quickly.

You had to laugh as during the whole saga between you and Shakespeare, Shakespeare had accused you of not loving his friend as during the whole visit you weren’t acting even the slighted bit affectionate towards Vincent. In fact, at first, Theo accused you of the same thing, however soon Theo realized that you were more private with your display of affection and welcomed you to his family with open arms.

You and Vincent both share the love language of physical touch and act of service. The two of you have an incredibly open, honest relationships based on communication and trust. It isn’t uncommon for you to sit on Vincent’s lap as the two of you talk about all sorts of random topics for hours and hours as he strokes your hair.

Vincent loves to shower you in sweet kisses and warm, comforting hugs. He can’t imagine anything better in the world than to just have you in his arms while he kisses you breathless for hours and hours. Beware as this angel like you, will bite.

Vincent’s favourite is to just shower your face in sweet little kisses. He will legit start by kissing the top of your head and then make his way down to your forehead, then both your eyelids, your nose and then finally your lips.

It’s through these sweet kisses that the two of you often communicate just how much you love each other, no words needed just action.

PENTAGON: First Impressions VS Now!

since it's ptg's 3rd anniversary, and i've been an uni for over a year now, i thought it would be a fun idea to compare my first thoughts about all the members to how i think of them now! i got the idea from i got7 inspirits on youtube, so check them out if you're interested!

I first heard "gorilla" back when it released, but since i avoided stanning rookies at the time- i decided to give it some time before stanning. flash foward to august 2018 where my interest is piqued again. at that time last year, i had thought that they were pretty cute but having literally only heard gorilla and then shine, i was caught off guard by their sound change. It wasn't bad per say- just different. overall, i knew pentagon would be a group that i'd like- but more along the lines of a casual thing.

now:

y'all already know how whipped i am for these idiots!!! their music and videos and even choreos are my style completely, especially their cute concepts!! we love dancing infants! and also, they're all such throughly good people which makes me so happy. this isn't a casual stan thing in the slightest, and it's funny to think I ever believed it would be.

Hui:

then:

when i saw him in shine, i thought he was a d o r k. i think it was the way they styled his hair, but i was just very convinced that he was pretty lame lmao. after that though, i saw how cute he was and he became my bias for a while. i remember thinking at one point that he seemed like an exasperated dad?? i didn't really have any basis for it but that observation was there nonetheless.

now:

exasperated dad? more like hyper 3 year old. hes literally one of the loudest and most energetic. what was i on. but i think hes the most precious and clingiest little toddler now!! i was right about the dork thing though, but its super cute how goofy and lame he is. also!! talent for days!! his dancing, singing (his falsetto is !!), composing is all incredible. the most important thing though? a godly leader. he's so caring and kind and full of love for his members it hurts me. we don't really see a serious leader hui, but thats okay because i think it means he tries to keep uni and ptg in good spirits by showing them cheerfulness. and that's amazing to me.

Jinho:

my most notable thought about jinho in shine was "how is he that small". i remember thinking it was cute how he pushed the giant one too, lmao. i didn't think much else of him beyond that, other than noticing how adorable he can be.

now:

ok yeah, jinho is cute and tiny and whatever- but now i Understand the power that he holds. how he looks with his hair pushed back for example. or how about that bruno mars cover he did with hui. (hhhhnngg). also?? he's not even That small. the ones that make him look itty bitty are Literally just giants. but aside from his appearance, jinho is probably my favorite vocalist like!! i appreciate him s o much. (listen to his cover of gethsemane and last night of october for clear skin) of course jinho is also very cute though!! so i was right about that at least! he just also has many other great sides to him that i worry are overlooked!

Hongseok:

i didn't,,,notice him. at ALL. like i just glossed over his existence completely when i first saw shine. and even after that- it took me a minute to pay him any mind. when i did finally notice him though, i noticed his smile. i remember i was watching videos with my girlfriend and i pointed him out to her! that was mostly because i felt bad for not really having any strong opinion on him though oops. anyways i ended up just thinking he was a mom. and i was really impressed by his english and strength.

real talk, it pained me to write all of that out!! bc now?? omg hong is my everything- but thats kind of obvious. anyways!! hes so f u nn y !!! its absolutely a stupid kind of funny and hes definitely annoying but i adore it. also the mom thing is only kind of true. he has the capacity to be maternal and take care of them, but he's way more likely to make fun of literally every single member. he's more like an older brother that never leaves his siblings alone and thinks he's funnier than he is. and we hate him for it. anyways, his voice is So underrated im. angery. he has such a beautiful voice, just in general, and on top of that- his singing is lovely. like yes, more hong solo please.

Hyojong:

i definitely took note of him immediately! his voice is very distinctive, and he stands out a lot in shine. which is really saying something. i thought he was really talented for sure! and i almost felt he was too cool for me to be looking at. i kind of got the vibe he'd be pretty icy i guess?

now:

he's not intimidating at all. like not even a little bit. bc he's not taking himself as seriously as i thought he was lmao. also hes so l o u d . and a plant man. but i think the best thing about edawn is his unpredictability! i never really know what to expect from him and i like that.

Shinwon:

then:

i thought he was HOT. i already thought he was handsome in the 0.3 seconds of screentime he got in shine. but a friend of mine showed me clips of him from that couples game video and. o o f. i really couldn't get over how pretty he was. it didn't help that this was the same video where him and kino were doing that dance. personality wise, i don't remember much standing out to me. other than how easily scared he is.

now:

shinwon is soooo embarrassing. i wouldn't say hes completely shameless about it though, but he's shameless to the point of actually doing the stupid shit so im. still enraged about it. he legitimately makes me physically look away sometimes when im watching a video and he's being weird. theyre all my kids, and i love them. but he's the child im ashamed of lmao. moving on, hes a real cutie pie. that fact that he gets so scared so easily is both really funny and super endearing. but he's just a playful baby and im honestly glad that hes has so much fun.

Changgu:

i noticed him less than hongseok. like i dont think i had a single notable first impression of him.

now:

past dess was one entire Doofus huh. like changgu is a whole ass blessing to this planet and you mean to tell me that she overlooked him??!! anyways, though, he has an elephant heart for sure. such a genuinely empathetic and truly kind person!! he never fails to warm my heart with his sincerity and i love that about him. he's also part of the idiot squad though, with how he goes along with hong's antics. we hate that. and all his impressions + dumb faces. speaking of faces though,,, his acting?? i love it!! he's really talented, like when i watch pretty pretty i kind of forget that changgu is even playing a role. and his d a n c i n g!! underrated dance king! underrated king in general, how about that.

Yanan:

my first bias in ptg!!! i fell in love with him instantly! i loved how tall he is, and the white hair and his i c o n i c "my baby"!! like i was whipped from the gate. i remember liking his duality back then too!!

now:

ok so, since he was bias immediately, i noticed more about him than anyone else. which means i have less to write oops. but thats okay because at least i had a bit of taste back then. but, yanan is hilarious. he's so clever and funny and you can tell how effortless it is. most iconic ptg sayings are something from yanan and thats just amazing. the big thing i notice now that i didn't really before, though, is that fact that his duality is so shocking because he's literally just as unpredictable as hyojong. its impossible to really tell what hes going to do next, and i think it catches people off guard more with yanan because even that aspect of him is unexpected.

Yuto:

then:

i thought he was kinda scary!! idk he seemed so cold and i couldn't really relate to that so i didn't grow very attached to him.

now:

he's so pure!!! hes said that he has a hard time expressing his feelings but i don't really see it? because he always seems so happy to be around ptg and having fun with them even if he isn't usually the one playing around!! he loves them so much tbh and its the sweetest thing :( everything about yuto is so sweet, because he cares a lot about the people around him and doesn't want anyone to get hurt- even if its fake or a joke. and like, he's really hardworking too!! ptg have said multiple times that he works the hardest, and that really is saying something imo! and like, you can just see it even without being told that. whether its his workout journey pentory or the fact that he's literally been learning guitar. also!! omg the lyrics he writes?? heartwarming, romantic and life changing!! seasons and cosmo made me a different person. but yeah, he's such an amazing, warm person and i cant believe i found him scary.

Kino:

i thought he was the main vocal. like no joke, he was so charismatic and flaunting so much in shine that i was like "ah yes. the main vocalist" hhhggg. i remember thinking he was pretty though, and that his stage name was super cute. but i wasn't very interested in learning about him, despite how he really caught my eye. for some reason, though, i eventually got the thought that he was really pure.

now:

main vocal hdzfhh kino relax you're confusing ppl. of course he has an amazing voice and it always sounds incredible but!! what amuses me is the way he sings always sounds kinda like he's trying to be sexy and?? its so funny in ballads and stuff imo. but yeah, that "sensual"?? singing is what threw me off back then. buf more importantly, i just wanna mention the pure thing- because its a confusing situation. on one hand, kino has a heart of gold that not only adores uni but is also accepting. as well as how he's constantly bringing light into the world with his words and truly bright outlook. but on the other hand he's a demon that dances like That and is so dangerous when he wants to be!! so!! what's it gonna be kino, make up your mind :( anyways, listen to knnovations. esp bad timing and 224.12!!

Wooseok:

i loved him instantly. he looked like an overgrown 10 year old in my eyes and that's just. precious. i thought he was pretty funny too!!

now:

if i took off my hong glasses for long enough, id be able to say that i think he's the funniest in ptg. because he's so hilarious in my eyes like? he makes me do an ugly wheeze laugh, and a lot of my favorite ptg moments involve him in some way lmao. but he is actually a baby, so i was onto something there with the overgrown 10 y/o thing. despite being really funny though, i do think he tends to be quiet more often than like hui or shinwon and he hardly ever smiles, unless he's like laughing and thats makes me think that he's kind of awkward?? not in like a bad way, but i just kind of see that i guess. but!! something that i think is passed over a lot with woo is the fact that he usually has a hand in composing, and also that he writes his raps?? like that's so cool, we love that!!

ok! so that was my lame little essay lmao. i hoped you liked if you read it all! im just glad to say that i really appreciate pentagon as a whole, and how much joy they bring into my life nowadays!! i feel like ive found a place to call my own with uni and with pentagon :)

The Gang Finds a Dumpster Baby: Dennis chides Mac for littering and not caring about the environment... Mac agrees to check out the global warming movie he watched bc Dennis kept talking about it even though everyone else was annoyed by it... they really are in love huh. 5.5/10

The Gang Gets Invincible: Mac and Dennis decide to try out for the Eagles because they want to figure out who’s the better football player. “Lincoln Field, baby!” This should be a generic ‘Two Bros Compete Over Sports Thing’ plot but Mac and Dennis are like... really gay about it. They mock Dee together for wanting to try out too and they’re being very misogynistic but the way they laugh at her is so cute. Mac leans in very closely to Dennis’ face when talking about how Dee could embarrass them in terms of running stamina. Mac and Dennis have a whole conversation with their dicks out as they stand over the Lincoln Field and Mac looks at... he looks at Dennis’ dick and asks him if he’s done peeing. And Dennis says no because Mac standing next to him and talking to him makes him nervous,,, okay,,, Mac and Dennis bicker over Mac’s makeup skills and Dennis’ cheekbones. Mac and Dennis sit together on the bus. They’re cutely excited about getting to see Donovan McNabb (even though they don’t) and they’re both... so bad at running. We stan unfit losers who cant even run for ten minutes!! “I liked your form on that, and I liked how you went before the whistle.” “Goddamn right!” “Nice!” Jesus Christ do these two even remember they’re supposed to be competing? Dennis essentially verbally sucked Mac’s dick for tackling his sister and told him he liked his FORM I know I quoted that but like... y’all seeing this... Also can we talk about how Dennis had this running monologue going on while he was running in the field to catch a football was this: “I’m going to make Mac look so bad. My form is perfect–“ like why is Mac always his first thought like it came before his narcissistic thoughts AND his throwaway comp het thought... sigh... 9/10

Dennis and Dee’s Mom is Dead: Mac and Dennis not realizing how gay they are is so fucking funny... Mac banging everyone’s sister but also calling them gross? Comp het rights! Dennis talking to men trying to invite them over to their party is literal actual flirting and he is so stupid for it. “Bro, aw, I just had the most perfect blonde guy slip right through my fingers. I mean, I had him in the palm of my hand and then... he was gone, you know what I mean? I mean, this guy would have been perfect for you. What’s up with this beefcake? Is he coming to the party, or what?” I can’t believe Dennis told Mac this. This sounds literally like they’re gays trying to find love in this world. Give me a break maybe!! Mac and Dennis having no idea that they were waving around a dick flyer that they literally cut themselves is peak metaphor for how in denial about their sexualities they were. Mac and Dennis get up to PEAK gay activity during their party because of how excessively Dennis touches Mac, he literally says “oh yeah, baby, nice one!” when Mac punches a glass frame, breaking it, and taking a random apple and biting into it. He’s so proud of Mac for the dumbest of shit. “You’re gonna tell everybody how we’re like those guys from Jackass, how we like to smash stuff and shove shit up our asses.” “That’s right! You’re gonna get so much shit shoved up your ass tonight!” Oh my god? Oh my god! Nothing says love like throwing knives at college students and basically putting them through emotional and physical torture! That’s just how it is! The symbolism and just everything in this episode pushes this up to a shocking 8.5/10

The Gang Gets Held Hostage: “Come here, come here, come here! I think I got a plan to get us out of this, but I need you to do the destroying thing. Can you?” “I’m a great destroyer.” “Are you kidding me, dude? You’re a born smasher.” “Yes! I’m a born smasher.” “I’m gonna work a different angle with the girl.” “Work those pecs.” “Yeah, exactly.” “Bump it.” “All right.” “Dennis.” “What?” “I love you.” 9/10

The Aluminum Monster Vs. Fatty McGoo: The whole “Dennis has an announcement!” scene is so cute and so funny. Other than that though, Mac and Dennis don’t get up to much, but Dennis does lie to him about dress orders which pushes Mac into Frank’s arms where he learns how to run a sweatshop. 4/10

The Gang Solves the North Korea Situation: Dennis wearing Mac’s duster with no shirt and the way Mac was staring at him? Good shit! 7/10

The Gang Sells Out: Mac and Dennis both somehow managed to get each half of Charlie’s shares in the bar. Charlie gets confused between ‘wood’ and ‘wooed’ and when Dennis tries to explain it to him Mac gives him a little “Dennis, just...” and Dennis goes “It’s a waste of time?” and like. That’s just really domestic of them actually. 6/10

Frank Sets Sweet Dee On Fire: Nothing v specific here but Mac calls Dennis a ‘club kid’ which is cute. 2/10

Sweet Dee’s Dating A Person: “You do have a great voice. You have, you know what man? You have an excellent voice.” The look of absolute BETRAYAL Dennis gives Mac when he doesn’t let him be in his band... wow. “We need a new front man.” “Right. You want someone with a good voice.” “Yes.” “Who’s attractive.” “Yes.” “Someone with charisma.” “Yes.” Somehow they both bottomed in this scene and Dennis wearing glasses is so fucking stupid. This episode would’ve gotten a perfect score if Mac didn’t kick Dennis out of the band for having slutty hips. Mac, those slutty hips are everything you’ve ever wanted in life. Wake up. 9.5/10

Mac is a Serial Killer: Dennis seems to REALLY take notice when it comes to Mac’s comings and goings from the apartment... His reactions to Mac getting laid seems like fake enthusiasm to me :/ 3/10

Dennis Looks Like a Registered Sex Offender: “Listen, I need your help, okay? You’re part owner of the bar, and you’re probably the only person that Mac listens to, and I need you to talk to him.” God Dee really out here knowing the truth huh. She really out here knowing everything, huh? 7/10

The Gang Gets Whacked Part 1: Mac and Dennis the cute little work couple who tries to fix the electricity and both having differing but wrong opinions about how to do it! Mac and Dennis the cute little work couple who ditch work to sit outside their bar in lawn chairs and drink beer together! Mac and Dennis the dumbass work couple who can’t understand the things people say to them because they drink a lot! 9/10

The Gang Gets Whacked Part 2: Mac slaps Dennis and rescues him from his life of prostitution. Wow that’s like a line straight from a very weird mafia AU. 7/10

Bums Making a Mess All Over the City: The way Dennis looks at Mac when he says “In fact, Special Agent Bauer and I plan to take care of a few things today...” Mm... Conspiring with your boyfriend and twin sister while holding your cat as you plan to take down your dad truly is the life huh. 5/10 because it was a great fucking look

The Gang Dances Their Asses Off: One of the most ridiculous things in this episode is the fact that Frank ranked Dennis and Mac second and third best after himself. Some other ridiculous things? Mac and Charlie’s talk about Mac’s... cream... which led to Mac saying this golden line “I’m always putting my cream all over his face.” Mac and Dennis have a dance off where Mac mimes himself sucking Dennis off. Repressed rights! It’s a crime that we didn’t get to see Mac and Dennis slow dance this episode, but still I’m gonna give it a 10/10, especially because Dennis and Mac had 25 pound kegs hanging off their chests and Dennis said “Come on, man! Give me some of that liquid hydraulic shit!” it sounds dirty somehow, anyway, Dennis wrapped his arms around Mac and they both fell to the ground. Very sexy.

Komasan continues to be relateable social anxiety man, holy shit. "All the choices at the mcdonalds are A TRAP they baffle you with options and when youre scared thats when THEY STRIKE with the special offers!!" And aww i love how komajiro always sees the best in him no matter what! "Wow bro, only someone truly courageous would try all those foods of dubious quality!"

I didnt talk about it before but Bear is really adorable and my favourite! From what i saw of him in the game's intro he seemed like he was gonna be a generic bully character but in the anime he seems like a gentle giant who's super adorable and just gets embarassed when people know it. And he's the butt of 'fat people are stupid' type jokes which makes me really sympathetic to the poor guy! Like everyone says he's dumb but he got a perfect score on that test and it was just a yokai that made him fail! However his english voice reaaaaaly sucks. Its that dumb trope of 'the fat bully has a voice like a middle aged man somehow' except also its cleaarly a really bad impression done by someone who reaaaaally cant do low pitched voices at all. Like it sounds like an actual kid trying to act like an adult! Which i guess is in-character, but it also just sounds.. Really bad...

HOLY SHIT I LOVE THE DANCING PLANT YOKAI, THEYRE SO FUCKIN CUTE!!! And i like how theyre a trio like the nosirs, but their designs are more different with cute colours and such. And i love that the only reason theyre a problem is that they give you super dance skills even at really inaopropriate times like the middle of a test. CANT STOP THE RHYTHM! It was hilarious too when nate was chasing after them but in a dance style XD

Also Manjimutt's next story arc has generally become a bit more interesting? Its a great escape parody and so far has been actually quite funny with no gross horrid sexual assault nonsense like usual-

Okay wtf?? Sudddenly its an episode about Manjimutt meeting a teddy bear yokai and he's like his new son and they have a montage of happiness?? And Manjimutt is like "im gonna buy you a nice bowtie when we get out" and then lil sam GRAPHICALLY DIES! They show him being crushed between a set of gears and his head popping and all the stuffing spilling out as manjimutt cries. And then the EVEN MORE MEANSPIRITED ENDING is that lil sam wasnt real at all, manjimutt was just going so mad from the loneliness of solitary confinement that he took a regular teddy bear and started using it as a puppet son to ease his pain AND REALLY BELIEVED IT BECAUSE HE WAS JUST THAT MENTALLY ILL! Ha ha comedy..? Seriously why is this show so cruel to this man when he hasnt done anything to deserve it, and when he actually acts horrible to women its played as just a harmless joke?? Prioritiesssss

Also im REALLY starting to get super sad for poor komasan whos now trapped in a web of lies that he's not really anxious and is totally dealing with city life perfectly okay, because he wants his brother to love him and THINKS HE WONT IF HE EVER FAILS AT ANYTHING EVER. Gahhh poor guyyyy pleaaase stop making him get even more embarassed in every new episode!

Aww no fair! Nate dont be mean to your mom's fancy outfit! I'd wanna be insipirted by dazzabel all the time if she gave me the confidence to look fab like that! Also wtf nate calling hungramps the "most unfashionable yokai" wow ur bein a big asshole today i guess. Also Fancy Hungramps was awesome, thanks for roasting the fuck out of nate and peacing out on a surfboard, thats the Biggest Mood while watching this show lol.

Huh apparantly in the anime when youre inspirited by Dimmy you get a creepy as fuck three dots cartoon ghost face THATS WEIRD! But dimmy is still super cute and shyly adorbabble :3 I'm surprised his voice was even kinda close to my headcanon! "oh...i dont wanna be a bother..i'll just be over here..." POOR BABBU! And i feel really sad for Dazzabel too! I mean it seems implied that she's so obsessed with fashion because she's depressed about being a skeleton and wants to look more humanlike? Dimmy defeats her just by bumping into her and knocking her bow off and then she looks in horror at herself. Thats so fuckin sad!!! Dazzabel you're beautiful no matter what!!

Okay how do manjimutt's episodes keep getting even more sadistic!!! He almost manages to escape with a group of other prisoners and he has a deep inner monologue about them being his only friends. And then in the last five seconds it reveals that they hated him all along and also he accidentally ruins his escape at the last moment by being unable to resist howling at the moon.

That actually raises an interesting point! I like how they keep subtly implying that the legends of werewolves were really manjimutts all along. Thats an interesting idea, that different mythological creatures from around the world are all the same monster just reinterpreted.

WTF why is Sproink the only boss yokai that ever got his own episode? What made them pick him of all people? Also why did they decide to give him an australian accent? It makes him really cute tho??? And my new favourite character is THAT GRANDPA! Sproink threatens the safety of the town by turning everyone's bathwater up too hot, and gets defeated by The Most Badass Old Man Ever who goes "yeah great! Turn it up higher!" and watches the poor bastard boil. Holy shit true hero of the series!

Also i continue to adore Babblong and continue to say WTF I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR HIS STORIES!!

Wesley Wyndam Pryce - okay, so this is only from mid-Season 3 onward, but I cannot fathom Wesley’s actions in stealing Connor, consulting with Holtz and doubting/not believing in Angel to the point where he didn’t realise that Angel would do everything in his power to protect Connor. Then his self-righteous attitude post-kidnap is appalling, the fact that he acts like the wronged party and refuses to acknowledge his own wrongdoings and never apologises for his actions all drive me crazy. Just can’t.

Luke Danes, I mean, buddy, pull it together. You say you want Lorelai, yet never make a move and then bitch about her boyfriends and act like a jerk. You say you’re “all in” and then you run at the first sign of trouble and make Lorelai feel like she did something wrong. You tell Lorelai you want her to be honest with you and then you hide your daughter from her for two freakin’ months. You say you want to spend your life with her, yet you shut her out of it. Like, wtf??

Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III, omg, why is he such an abusive asshole? Why does he treat every woman he’s with like crap? Why does he treat Mellie as if she’s insignificant and stupid? Why does he act entitled to everyone’s time and affections? Why does he continually try to give up the most powerful position in America? Why doesn’t he have any ambition? Why does he resent anyone who does??? I don’t understand.

John Winchester. Dude’s always going on about how he “did the best that he could”. Nope. The best he could would have been to raise his boys in a stable freakin’ environment, not push adult responsibility onto his eldest, not treat his youngest like an outcast/freak for wanting a better life and actually being an adult and being there for his boys. How does he justify the way he treated his sons? Don’t get it.

Finn Collins. Dude, you cheat on your girlfriend, neglect to tell the girl you’re cheating with that you even have a girlfriend, don’t tell your girlfriend you cheated on her and expect both girls to still want you? Plus the whole massacring eighteen unarmed people and then ignoring their bodies as the girl you want walks in horrified and look at her as if she’ll love you for your actions? Yikes.

Lorelai Gilmore, she constantly puts her mother down for her privilege and sense of entitlement, yet displays the exact same behaviour. She rejected Chris, then bitches about how he “wasn’t ready”. She thinks all her behaviour is cute but it’s actually really annoying. And she honestly seems to believe that her parents were the absolute worst parents in the world, when it reality they were really good to her and always try to be a part of her life. Pull it together, woman!

Octavia Blake, why does she blame her brother for everything? Why is her solution always violence? Why does she proudly cannibalize people? Why does she think she knows more about a culture she’s been a part of for two seconds than the people actually raised in said culture?

Nancy Wheeler. Why does she want Jonathan so badly? Why does she screw over Steve? What makes her neglect her brother and run off with the guy she just banged? Why doesn’t she think through the consequences of her actions? Why did she offer her brother zero comfort when his friend “died”? What made her think it was okay to chase down Jonathan while he was picking out a coffin for his brother’s funeral to talk about Barb? Girl drives me bonkers.

Joey Potter, so many of her actions make no sense. She pines after Dawson for years and then breaks up with him for literally no reason. She blames him for telling her the truth about her father, after repeatedly saying they need to be honest with one another. She can’t decide between two guys for years. She constantly rejects Pacey yet picks him in the end. She believes she’s entitled to be a bitch to people just because she’s had a tough life.

Aria Montgomery, if your creepy-ass relationship really so important to you that you would lie to your friends and family, threaten your parents, risk your partner going to jail, threaten to walk out on your family and basically cease to exist outside of your boyfriend? Yikes.

Going to put the rest under the cut, otherwise we’re going to end up with a post a mile long.

Top 5 Characters Who Are Well-writen But I Can’t Connect To or Like

Male

John Locke, a great-written character who drives me up the wall with his over-zealousness and delusions of grandeur.

Spike, he really does have a great character arc and characterisation but his over-exposure and the fandom’s adulation of him drive me crazy, plus I hate how his narrative overtakes Buffy’s.

Jack Shepherd, such a great arc, such an amazing journey but his douchey behaviour and the way he treats certain characters means I just can’t like him.

Perry Cox, I find him amusing and do occasionally like him but his lack of self-awareness and overall mean attitude and sexism bugs me.

Dean Winchester, so well-written with a great arc but also abusive, violent, self-righteous, sexist and overall annoying as hell.

Female

Regina Mills, her redemption arc is sloppy but her characterisation was always strong and she’s a fantastic villain, which is why I love to hate her.

Robin Scherbatsky, very well-written with a great arc (until the finale) but I just cannot like her, probably due to her arrogance and meanness.

Rachel Green, now, I don’t hate Rachel or anything but she’s one of my least-favourite Friends characters and I’ve never been able to connect with her.

Katniss Everdeen, a great-written character whose personality I find very hard to reconcile and who I just cannot connect with.

Kate Austin, great arc, great characterisation, full of traits I can’t stand and makes choices that make me want to throttle her.

Neal Cassidy, he was done so dirty by that damn show!

August Booth, another one screwed over by OUAT and there was so much left to explore with his character!

Boyd Langton, Dollhouse’s weird out-of-nowhere reveal that he was the bad guy completely changed his character and he didn’t deserve that.

Jake Ballard, he deserves better than being second-choice for Olivia Pope.

Laurel Lance, who deserved the fucking world and got nothing, I would change so much about her storyline and eventual fate.

Luke Danes - I like that he’s good at the big gestures, I like his snark and his homebody nature.

Jess Mariano - I like intelligence, his snark and the fact that he sorts himself out later on in life.

Anya Jenkins - love her work ethic and the fact that she handles money well and knows how to budget, save and invest.

Betty Cooper - she’s got gumption, I’ll give her that and she is intelligent and hardworking.

Cassie from the Animorphs series - she’s compassionate and does try to understand people, which I like.She also has a lot of empathy.

Lilah Morgan - well, she’s an evil bitch, but you’re supposed to hate her for that, so I more hate her actions than her herself, such as when she gives Cordy the visions which almost kill her or when she sends people to drill into Lorn’s head.

Top 5 Ways My Disliked Characters Contributed To The Main Storyline That I’m Fine With (I am running out of steam and not sure if I can come up with 5 males and 5 females, so gonna combine them for this last one and again might not make it to Top 5)

Alison DiLaurentis - I like her as a villain, her murder kicks off the whole series which worked well, and I liked that she works as a foil for all the girls, in particular Hanna and Mona.

Spike - love him as a villain in Season 2, love that he works as a foil for Angel in AtS Season 5, liked him stirring things up in Lovers Walk in Season 3.

Regina Mills - love her as a villain, love her as the Curse Caster, liked her dynamic with Emma, liked her as a foil for Snow and Emma.

……. I actually might be out, as usually when I hate a character it’s because of the way in which they negatively impact the storyline.

Week 9: Gallery Activity

Mohamed Bourouissa

What is the main message of this artist’s work?

The main message behind the work of Mohamed Bourouissa seems to be one of community, generation, and resilience.

How is this conveyed? (What techniques is s/he using?)

He often shoots a mix of people he knows and people he doesn’t in a way that shows human connection. He also shows aspects of the world specific to the experience of his generation such as certain types of clothing, people smuggling cigarettes, and people stealing from a supermarket. Another way Bourouissa gets his message across is through the types of people he decides to photograph. As he said in his interview many of his subjects are immigrants or from the suburban areas of the city which allows him to have a more diverse subject base as well as show the different type of people that live in Britain and France.

In your view, which artist should win the competition? Why?

While I love the idea and follow through of Bourpuissa’s work I do not feel he should win. The idea is there but I feel there are aspects of his narrative missing simply because he gave himself such a large subject. for aspects of his series he focuses on diversity and community but for others he begins to focus on this idea of generation and identity within a generation. It is here that I feel he has lost some of his footing. For this idea of generation he does focus on community and diversity but he also gives a large amount of focus to clothes and external aspects of self representation. It is my belief that if you want to show the experience of a generation you cant simply focus on one style but rather you have to get a feel for the diversity of experiences and forms of self representation. I feel this series could have been made stronger by focusing more on one aspect of his message rather then making it so broad.

Mohamed Bourouissa La Prise, 2008 From the series Périphérique

This image is interesting because it makes the viewer feel as if they have walked in to a very personal scene and not given any context. It is also interesting because the image its self has been given a very warm feeling with the yellow tint of the entire image which somehow works in contrast to the actual subject matter. As for the message of this image it seems to be one of trouble within a domestic setting and, because of the commonly understood imagery it uses such as the police and one figure being placed beneath the other, it doesn’t need much further explanation. As for the photo its self, it doesn’t really remind me of any other works we have seen because, while it seems like a more naturally taken photo it also feels somehow staged. This gives it a very different feel when compared to other artists we have viewed who usually have their posed and un posed images separated or want the viewer to realize that the images have been both naturally and un naturally taken.

Anton Kusters

What is the main message of this artist’s work?

The main message of this work is one of heritage and remembrance of the past with specific focus on Nazi concentration camps.

How is this conveyed? (What techniques is s/he using?)

This is conveyed through the use of instant peel of lens which gives the images an older/more classic feel, shots of the blue sky which is a constant both in the time of the concentration camps and when the photos were taken, and the blind-stamps of the number of victims and the GPS coordinates. The message is also given through the fact that each of the images was taken at a know location of a Nazi concentration camp. Finally, the images are accompanied by a thirteen-year-long generative audio piece by Ruben Samama which is meant to represent the thirteen years that the camps were open.

In your view, which artist should win the competition? Why?

While I think these images are beautiful and made even more interesting through the meaning behind them and the very long accompanying audio, I think it is also the sheer number of factors that become the downfall of this collection. I simply feel that this is a good idea for a project but can’t be fully comprehended by a single person. The simple length of the audio means that a person has to dedicate a large amount of their lives to fully experiencing this project. There is also a very large number of photos, many of which are very similar and, while I understand they are all taken in different locations and gain a meaning this way, it makes the series feel very repetitive and doesn't allow it to stand out clearly in the mind of the viewer.

Anton Kusters München-Stadelheim | 0000100 (est.) | 48.100152, 11.592046 (EX) from The Blue Skies Project

I decided to focus on an image that showed many of the photos included in Kusters’ collection because it seems they were meant to be viewed together so that the viewer could understand the sheer number of locations. Kusters chose to use an older style camera as a way to take his images because the type of film its self is quite delicate. It also allowed him to have the space to write in the number of victims and the GPS coordinates without disturbing the actual image. Besides this he let the sky its self decide many of the aspects of the photo. While I feel this is a very meaning heavy series I don’t think it would be fully understood without first reading an explanation of the series as a whole. Without first reading this the numbers would not make sense and it would simply seem like a collection blue and white circles. This series reminds me of the work done by Simon Roberts in his series The Weeds and the Wilderness as it is many photos seemingly of the same object and it is not until you read the explanation and take a closer look at the images themselves that you begin to understand the true meaning behind them and begin t notice their individual features.

Mark Neville

What is the main message of this artist’s work?

The main message behind Neville’s series is one of community and self representation within a community as well as an understanding between animals and people whether that connection is as a pet and owner or as owner and eventual food.

How is this conveyed? (What techniques is s/he using?)

This message of this series is conveyed through both posed and non posed images that were taken in a small rural community named Guingamp. In this community a lot of the people are agricultural workers and while taking photos of the people Neville began to gain an understanding of the relationship people had with the animals they lived with. With this gained understanding he had people pose with their animals in a way that showed a sort of kinship with them. He also published a written works in both English and French that is meant to spread awareness of and support the protection of agricultural land and workers.

In your view, which artist should win the competition? Why?

I find the work done by Neville to be interesting and overall useful to the general public as he allowed for it to reach past simply his focus and instead make an impact on the world of agriculture. The point of this award is to find a good artist who’s work is innovative and for me that means an artist who is attempting to do something that goes beyond their work and will have a longer lasting impact. With the literary books that came out along side this photographic project I feel Neville has put himself in a position to make a difference both in the world of photography and agriculture awareness. I also feel that the care Neville put into each image shows through so beautifully making it clear that he wasn’t simply taking these images of people with their animals because he thought it would be cute or a good change from the norm. But rather that he truly understood how the people and animals related to each other both for companionship and sustenance.

Mark Neville Parade #39, 2019

This image stuck out to me because of the sheer strangeness of the image its self. The pig and the woman seem to be looking in the same direction and almost have similar expression. Also the positioning and placement of both the pig and the woman seem unnatural and uncomfortable, perhaps this is because the pig was most likely lined up to one day become food for the woman. For this image Neville chose a considerably dark, dirty, and almost uninteresting background which pulled more attention to the face of the woman and the pig as both were light and clean in comparison. This is not to say that the background didn’t pull any attention at all, however, it simply was something the viewer would glance at, consider for a moment, and then move on from. This image is also interesting because it almost has two focal points and they are in very different locations within the image. While both the face of the woman and the face of the pig seem like focal points, the fact that they are so far from each other make it so that more of the image comes into focus and one is also made to look at the slumped and almost confused way both the woman and the pig seem to be sitting.

This image does begin to make a bit more sense after reading about Neville’s series because the viewer gets an understanding for why the photographer wanted to take a picture of this woman and her pig in the first place. The viewer also begins to understand that the background may not have been chosen at random but instead may have been something important to the life of that woman or that pig.

This image reminds me of many of the portraits we as a class saw in the national portrait exhibit because it has such a clear focus and is such a clean and clear image, yet the actual feeling and story behind it are both clear and hidden at the same time. The image makes the viewer want to look at it longer and learn more about the subjects.

Clare Strand

What is the main message of this artist’s work?

The message behind the works of Clare Strand is that of communication and the way the information is given and received between two individuals.

How is this conveyed? (What techniques is s/he using?)

This idea was conveyed through the use of multiple mediums as Strand worked with her husband in an attempt to show how information, no matter how clearly it might seem to be conveyed, can lose some of its meaning along the way. Strand and her husband took multiple images and broke them into a grid system. From there they assigned each square of the grid to a number that was associated with a specific tone of grey they felt was best represented within that original grid square. From here Strand’s husband would tell Strand square by square which number had been assigned and in turn Strand would use that color to fill in a correlating square on her canvas. Because the squares could only each be s single color and because Strand herself could not see the image she was attempting to copy the final painting often came out as a pixelated version of its self rather than a perfect copy of what Strand’s husband was seeing.

In your view, which artist should win the competition? Why?

I love the work done by Strand. I feel that it is an interesting view on our ability as humans to communicate effectively and in a way that can be understood without losing meaning. However, I feel that as far as this award goes Strand’s work doesn’t have as many current real world connections. As much as I want Strand to win an award I don’t think this is the one for her to win based on the projects of the other artists.

Clare Strand The Discrete Channel with Noise: Information Source #3 (2017 - 2018)

I chose this image because I found the before image to be almost more interesting then the painting that was made as a reaction. The after image may have shown the true in intention and outcome of the series in a more visual way but it seemed to me that the before image with the lines and the numbers showed the intention and the amount of work that went into each aspect of this series. For this image the original focus seems to have been the man with his camera as he takes a photo of an item the viewer can not see. However, after making the grid and assigning the number to the image the focus changes these lines and numbers as the viewer is made curious of what is to happen.

This image does make more sense after reading about Strand’s study because without the explanation it just seems like someone has drawn numbers and lines all over an image. It also allows the viewer to look at the image and wonder how they would have chosen to convey this information or in turn, how they would have made the correlating painting.

While the original painting reminds me again of the portraits from the portrait gallery due to its clear focus and underlying story, I don’t think this series by Strand can really be related to anything else that has been made. The photos and the way they are split up make them very personal and individual to the creator.

young relationships

Ah, young love

Falling in love young is great right? you get to spend time with someone who makes you feel special. the cuddling, the dates, the conversations, the cute but fucked up faces you make at each other, the netflix, the chilling. Its all great, but the one thing that ruins it is this ideology that you’re gonna be with this person for the rest of your life. it causes so much jealousy, stress, anxiety, and insecurity to look at your partner as yours for the rest of your life. if us younglings stopped trying to have a cinematic rom-com approach to our relationships, we’d be better off in terms of happiness, and learn more during our times with special people.

Im not saying it cant happen, because it can, i see it within my family. meeting someone at a young age, moving out together as soon as they’re old enough/ready, getting married, having a family, and a happy life. But this is a rare scenario, especially in this day and age, based off of general population increase, and all the new ways of self expression. We should be viewing this logically. the average human life span is 79 years, logically sharing the same opinions and life goals with someone who hasn’t lived in the after school world long enough to say what it is they want in life and/or who you are. Im not gonna sit here and name an age that youre “supposed” to decide to settle down with someone as thats subjective to many things, but i am gonna stay to stop expecting your high school/college love to die by your side. Its probably not gonna happen.

Have you ever felt jealous? i have. I remember some dope commented on my ex-girlfriends instagram post “damn cutie, you should come chill with me sometime” and the result was crippling insecurity caused only by my pre-notions and thoughts. The idea of jealousy is so fucked, in most popular religious practices, it will state in their form of literature that jealousy is a “sin” for a lack of better words. So why are we so jealous? why cant we start off approaching relationships logically? We can explain it simply by environment. you watch movies about people who will fight for their relationship, you see some parents who were married young fight to keep their marriage alive at the cost of their human freedom, and possible mental damage. So we fight to stay with people “for better or for worse”. Why the for worse part man? why cant we just enjoy each others company while their around, and not pressure each other to stay together. Because being “friends” with the people they love and cherish isn’t good enough for young people. Throw jealousy and this idea of trying to police peoples thoughts out the window, if “you’re partner” wants to go hang out with their friends, let them, if they want to pick up overtime at their job for some extra money in their pocket, let them, and honestly, if they want to see someone else, let them, because at the end of the day if they want to spend the rest of their life with you they will be by your side because they want to, not because they feel pressured. Obviously if you have an issue with something the other person did, talk to them, understand it, and move on however that is. applying this theory, if you both chose to work on it together, and you both feel like the bond is stronger after, thats awesome and all to you, but some disagreements cant be fixed, and shouldn’t because then your taking someones free will away, wether either of you know it or not.

I recently came out of a 4 year relationship with someone. I learned tons, got to do the cheesy “Tumblr romance” activities, i got to know an amazing person, and i got to learn how to express platonic love better with other people, which is great. But it was so much pain, so much jealousy, and a lot of time wasted since the last 2 years was spent working on something that just wasn’t meant to be, because we were deluded thinking we were gonna spend the rest of our days together, we could have spent the time working on ourselves more as individuals, and possibly meeting people more connected to us. We even lost friendships with great people because we guilted each other to stay next to each other.

Going forward, at least until i meet that person that i mesh well with that makes me want to stick around for the rest of their life, i’m gonna approach my “relationships” as spending intimate time with a good friend. Because i want to fully respect my loved ones feelings and emotions, even if they aren’t towards me. Honesty and Communication will be key to any of these friendships. I can also allow myself to have more fun, because i wont let others choices/opinions effect me. and also i’m hoping in practice this cures my jealousy, and insecurity. I want my loved ones to know i truly love them, and i’m hoping the people i share my intimate time with understands this way of thinking, so i can enjoy the cheesy tumblr moments with someone without the pressure, thats all i want.

Lunar New Year

Living in Asia changed my life.

It gave me unthinkable opportunities, it made me grow, it gifted me with lovable traditions that I will keep, it fed my soul and my belly with delicious treats and dishes but most importantly, it gave me life-lasting memories and friends.

Vietnam, Year of the Goat - 2015

I first got in touch with the wrongly called “Chinese New Year” in Vietnam, shaped as Tet. Tet is the Lunar New Year celebrated throughout the country, where people travel milles and milles to be with their relatives. They eat a very cute, squared and perfectly packed rice cake, also known as the Emperor’s cake, which consists on a quite tasty wrapped pork with rice pie in banana leaves. People clean their houses to bring prosperity and to remove last’s year bad luck, they toast to their elders and dead ones, and they eat big feasts of delicious food.

They toast to the Mot Hai Ba, Yo! with Saigon Beer and kids get excited about the hand out of the li-xi, the red envelope containing lucky money for the year to come. I was so exciting about this I flipped the traditional elder-younger order, since I was the one working and I wanted to give back, hence, I gave a li-xi to my Vietnamese granny as well, that sweet, old tea lady, wearing pajamas and selling lottery tickets by my street. At the Phibious office we did some offers with a chicken and oranges, and celebrated with a big, nice dinner all together with Karaoke, traditional music and li-xi giveaways.

Ham Nghi, one of the main streets in HCMC, becomes the most colorful and scented street in all Saigon with a flower display and market they arrange to celebrate the occasion. It was my first tet-a-tet with Tet. I didnt know what to eat, what to do nor how to celebrate it.

For Westerners, it’s a another beautiful excuse to explore. It’s probably one of the longest paid time-off people get, so we took proper advantage of it. After coming back from Australia, we decided to spend almost all of the savings we got left and go to Ha Noi, the northern ex-capital of Vietnam, and Ha Long Bai, while taking the week to explore the beautiful country that was hosting us. We didnt have any family but ourselves to visit so we made sure to build and find our own. We enjoyed everything and did quite a lot in such short term: an overnight train ride with two strangers to Ha Noi, a nice and centric hotel stayed, two nights sailing between the dragon’s tail of Ha Long Bai arguing with the waiter what does happy hour vs. 3X2 meant, long drives to Sapa and even longer walks through their rice fields, being mesmerized, surprised and loved by its people, bargaining at the different markets for beautiful blankets and cups, learning more from them than what they could ever have taken from us, eating the most delicious pork and rice that I’ve ever had in my life, being grateful and happy with my special person by my side and watching the New Year’s fireworks by the Turtle pond back in Ha Noi while eating the real Northern Pho Ga was priceless. From the moment we left Nguyen Phi Khan, we kept laughing and wishing everyone “Chuc Mung Nam Moi!”. It was indeed, a beautiful way to start the Year of the Goat.

The Year of the Monkey I spent it in cold Stockholm, sharing an equally cold greeting on Facebook and crying over the emotional doodle. I think around the same time I tried to cook Pho and discovered an Asian supermarket by Hornstull, but that was pretty much it.

Singapore, Year of the Rooster - 2017

But then, life is generous and took me back to Singapore, where I could really learn about the importance and significance of the Lunar New Year. In Singapore, there was no issue about calling it Chinese New Year, on the contrary, they have this beautiful acronym they use throughout all their celebrations and communications (CNY). I’ve learned the new greeting, it was Gong Xi Fa Cai, and it took me a long time to actually remember it without reading it!

Ogilvy Singapore really invests on keeping their employees happy, at least regarding bonding and general events. Each year, they bring the lions and dragons to dance and to wish prosperity to all of us, they give us 2 oranges for the dragon to leave us lucky numbers, they hand out the red envolopes they call angbaos. This was the first time I experience the Prosperity Fish Toll, Yu Sheng or Lo Hei. It was a fun, weird and inexplicable mess. I has so much fun!

It is a simple dish, based on a Cantonese Raw Fish Salad. It usually consists of strips of raw fish, mixed with shredded vegetables, crackers, and a variety of sauces and condiments. In Chinese, fish is one accent away from abundance. That’s why it it’s a common belief that in order to get prosperity, wealth and abundance it is important to have some sort of fish on New Year’s table. The higher you toss it, the more abundance and prosperity you’ll have, hoping that your wishes come true. They are multiple versions of this activity but at the moment, is commonly associated with Chinese New Year celebrations done in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Personally, I really like the concept of li-xi (VN) or angbao (Hokkien version of Hóngbāo) those beautiful, hand-crafted red envelopes with golden drawings containing lucky money much more than the regular western gifts. The more you give, the more you’ll get in return. And I absolutely love that.

New York City, Year of the Dog - 2018

It was my first Lunar New Year outside Asia after a major Asian’s immersion. I couldn't wait to celebrate it and share all the knowledge I got with my parents who where in town. We went to Nom Wah Tea Parlor, one of the oldest if not the oldest dim sum place in NYC, brought straight from Hong Kong. Later on, I was wearing my kimono and went Karaoke. I know, BIG mess of random concepts and badly executed ideas done by a Western/Latina girl who though she was, even for a moment, Asian.

But thank god I had my Step Up Ogilvy Singapore Crew to save the date. They spent the whole weekend cooking and preparing this feast. They had the Google Home playing Chinese New Year’s songs. The six of them + a korean wife, displayed Singaporean delights in front of my face and taught me the beauty of this preparation. We needed to say the prosperity prayer, we placed a newspaper underneath it in order to control the mess, we made sure we had enough plates and alcohol to toast and eat for the upcoming New Year. Fish, shrimp, chicken and even mussels were there to bright up our night and my failed attempt to celebrate the Year of the Dog in proper and legit way.

This time, we were ready. I was counting the days to meet with the new friends Ogilvy Singapore, even one year later, keeps gifting me with. We scheduled the dinner in advance, we were excited to see Sameed again and we went full on for a Malay-Singaporean style feast in Rasa. We had some Malaysian prawn Mee, Maggie Goreng, Kang Kung, Satay Combo, Salted Egg Yolk Prawn, Rendang Beef, Curry Chicken, Soft Shell Chilli Crab, Cereal Shrimp, Sambal Stingray, Indonesian Chicken, some Pad Thai and Nasi Lemak.

It was great to have a little piece of Singapore with me today. I guess that once you live in a country part of you never truly leaves. It’s like The Squid Theory: you keep leaving traces behind while shaping yourself and your path from the places you’ve been, the people you’ve met and the food you’ve ate.

So, to all my friends around the world who share with me the joy of celebrating Lunar New Year, Chuc Mung Nam Moi and Gong Xi Fa Cai full of prosperity and best wishes to enjoy, embrace and live up to the fullest the Year of the Pig!
