THREE PHOTOS TAG!
@muddshadow originally posted this, and @aninkwellofnectar reblogged it. This is an awesome idea!
OPEN TAGS TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO PLAY!!
rules: find 3 photos/images (they can be anything at all, memes, vintage photographs, quotes, anything) that you feel describe your wip. If you want, you can tell a little bit your story, too.
Escape with the Terrans
Bursts of ion charges peppered space around the Horizon. They were trying to kill [Yune's] ship without destroying it. That boiled his blood. This was his baby and home. Not only that, he was on it, and did not look forward to a life sentence in prison, or the more likely outcome in this situation: death.
An impression of panic wherein he felt the words ‘They’re everywhere!’ pulsed through him. “I know! I know!”
A few well-placed shots from gunners who aced ‘aiming’ at the academy hit their shields at the weakest point, causing the first generator to fail. The backup took over. He pushed the ship’s sublight engines to their limit.
“Selka! What are you doing up there? Taking a nap?”
“Maybe if you would fly better, I could hit something.”
“I’m sorry, I thought I heard you tell me to fly better.”
“I did!”
“There's [krrrr] interference. You’re [krrkrr] cutting out.”
She rolled her eyes, “You’re making that sound with your mouth!”
“No I’m [krrr] not.” He threw the ship into a barrel roll, narrowly avoiding a volley of blasts. “Is this better flying for you?”
“So much for the com being out.” A well-placed shot from her canons crippled the lead problem starfighter, “You’ve got your hole. Go!”
He pulled down the jump control lever at his right. The Horizon shot into hyperspace, and fled the system.
The Princess and the Monster
Terra picked up a crystal sphere on a small pedestal as desk decor and looked through it, “She must be a representative, too.”
“Yeah,” her voice dropped with sadness, “she’s Cos Besta’s.”
Terra moved to check the closet. They could have all huddled inside, but the guards would have looked in there first. Plus, it didn’t have a lock.
“Then you have to know about those troops,” Will hopped up to sit on the edge of the desk. “I’ve never seen ones in all black before. Who are they?”
The girl handed them the answer like it was a brick, “Dark Legion.”
They already frightened him. The name didn’t help.
One of Will’s first memories after waking up in Strafsend was of a dark armored elite trooper in black and blue dragging him out of their personal room with Terra to the first of a thousand tests. He grew up terrified of them. When he looked at them, all he saw was oppression and pain. And after one particularly rough inclusion session during phase two where one carried him to a recovery room with Terra waiting, and he thought he was going to die, he associated them with death.
Suddenly, heading back to the arboretum a.s.a.p. didn’t seem like such a bad idea, “Why are they here? Are they guarding someone?”
“No. They’re here with Him to keep everyone in the palace in line,” she frowned.
This didn’t match up with Will’s knowledge of elite troopers, “Who’s ‘Him?’”
The girl uttered one phrase heavy with terror and history, “Someone I hope you never meet.”
Found Family
The shimmer of tears drew down his face to mix with the rain.
Yune came back for them because they were Will and Terra - not Two-Forty-Six and Two-Twelve of the One Thousand, not the last altaran-humans, and not for their power. He had never cared about all that. He only ever saw them. He was the first person in two years to treat them like regular kids.
Yune hadn’t abandoned them after all.
He came back.
He came back for them.
Yune eased the gun from Will’s hand, set it down, and unlocked his cuffs.
Will’s arms flung around him before they hit the floor.
He latched onto both kids with the fierce protection of an impenetrable shield. These accidental rescues had become two of the most important people in his life - a life he now couldn’t imagine without them in it. He loved them. He loved them so fiercely that the acceptance of that truth held far more potency than the pain of his body. Even broken and beaten, it gave him the power to walk on the sun.
He had a purpose now, belonging, and a reason to fight.
And all because he changed the plan.
He rested his head against their shoulders. They were safe. He got them back. And he would never let them go again.
“Yune?” Terra spoke softly.
He lifted his head.
The overwhelming sense of love from him made her cry from joy. Her voice quivered as she came down from the adrenaline of her near capture. She wanted to get out of the rain, to be warm and dry, and to sleep in her own bed in the only place she felt safe in, and with the only people she felt safe with, “Can we go home now?”
Home… Only one place held that precious title - and it waited for them in the palace courtyard.
“Yeah, Squeaker,” he tucked her wet hair away from her face with a fond smile, “Let’s go home.”
