Republican tyranny comes with a high price. Services to the elderly, the physically handicapped, and children were cut without warning. A right-wing group funded by oligarch backed Republican political foundations swept in without warning and launched a blitz campaign against books and woke agenda. They destroyed a county library system before anyone could mobilize against them.

Attacks on libraries and school boards are still ongoing everywhere. They have the backing of Republican think tanks funded by billionaires. Once the local MAGA agitators are fired up they descend on communities and often use threats and violence to get their way. Once they get a law is changed it’s almost impossible to restore equity.

Their stated written goal is total war against the US. They want to change everything they consider woke, helpful to the poor, elderly, and marginalized and “fill every position from dog catcher to president with a Republican.” This was the Bannon-Trump plan in 2016, it’s in Project 2025, and the Republican political foundations are all openly pressing for it.

The United States will be a literal theocratic dictatorship run by corporate oligarchs through fascist Republican tyrants. It’s not speculation or hysteria. It’s their literal plan written down and published for all to see.

every day i sit and i go man. i wish people were normal about religion

#ides.txt #it's a very touchy subject for people and i understand that but #a lot of people get very analytical about it and there are many people with very good takes and understandings of it imo #but there are some really strange takes #i just have. I have very strong thoughts about how people discuss Christianity #also strong thoughts about how people talk about Islam but that is a LOT more personal #poses cutely in a lot of people don't address their own internalized Islamophobia and also dont' understand so much of the harm #that comes from theocracies based on Islam and those two things can coexist and I am so tired. xoxo #but just. I wish people could be normal about this #maybe I SHOULD take a class in religion in college #if only because I really want to understand why people are like this when it comes to that #this is kind of a useless post I just. think about religion quite a bit

We’ve rebranded ‘pro life’ to ‘anti choice’ to reflect their true beliefs but it’s not enough. I think we need to start calling a spade a spade and refer to them as the “forced birth movement” which is what the fuck they are.

#anti choice is so anemic #and while it does solve the “they aren’t actually pro life’ issue #it doesn’t effectively communicate the true horror of what they are doing #and I think moderate folks being swung that way by their communities would find it harder to get snowed #if we all reminded them they are actually team forced birth #cause while I know we know it’s terrible in terms of real praxis Lots of the individual forced birth supporters don’t think of it as forced #they genuinely believe they are ‘saving children’ and their genuine fear and (what is surely some form of) empathy is being weaponized by #a fascist theocracy for its own ends #to that end #I doubt they would be rushing to agree that they are on the side of forced birth #or better yet if we can help people realize what they are actually for is forced birth and not for helping anyone #then maybe people won’t be swayed to their side #I know this isn’t a political movement and as far as praxis goes it’s tiny #but the people i know who are anti choice don’t see themselves as forcing birth onto women #they don’t see that as the outcome cause they’ve been so trained by the ‘what about the children’ rhetoric #the evangelical Christian theocracy uses to vilify any group they want to turn their political mob against #so I think they maybe need reminding that the actual policy they are instituting is Fucking forced birth #i think it would at least capture some of the evangelical women I know who are by the skin of their teeth eking out a 1.75th wave feminist #ethic despite their parents being more conservative #the kids are coming to the side of progress - slowly slowly #so if we can get THEM to see #get THEM to realize they’ve been conned #that’s something #because those are votes we need

Many things can be true at once.

Israel is an apartheid state that unjustly occupies Palestinian land.

Israel is a Jewish state.

Jews worldwide do not bear the responsibility of the Israeli army or government.

The American government backs Israel, largely because of the efforts of evangelical Christian lobbyists. Wether or not Jewish Americans want this is irrelevant to the USA military.

The American government is rooted in white supremacy and antisemitism, and is constantly verging on Christian theocracy.

Criticism of Israel, while necessary, can very easily be co-opted into antisemitism. It needs to be handled carefully.

We can expect both antisemitic and Islamophobic hate crimes to spike in the coming weeks.

Jews and Muslims are not enemies. We have to remember that and stand up for each other.

I like Catherine Lacey’s Biography of X so far and I think it’s one of more realistic “second American Civil War” type books…what’s driving me a bit crazy is that I can tell Lacey has some Southern snobbery lol. Also not surprised to learn that she’s from Mississippi and only has lived in NY…and seems to just assume all of the North is NY…

I would go “maybe it’s just the character” but the main character is a New Yorker and idk man, there’s no way a New Yorker is this much an apologist for the South especially in an alternative timeline where the South wins a second war/successfully secedes and turns the South into a violent theocracy

#at one point the main character is like it’s hard for Southerners after The Great Reunification #you’re scared the theocracy will come back and sentence you to death #and even worse some Northerners distrust you and think you brought theocracy on yourself #for fighting for it and pining for it #uhhhhh #that’s a southerner talking sorry!!#uour govenrments terrible but what’s even more evil?#Northern snobbery and them pointing out that you did vote for it

Also I think Gerry being an Irishman in the 80s does affect his decision to live in Australia. Yes, he was in love with Carla and that's why he wanted to follow her, but also I think a lot of people do not understand this is Ireland pre Celtic tiger era. This is not a man ready to string his beloved back to the old country, even for a holiday. It's an impoverished heavily Catholic country that of course a bisexual hedonist probably doesn't want to stay in.

Their goals include saving the children and traditional family, and "to lay the groundwork for a White House more friendly to the right."

This translates to destroying the EPA, disability rights, and criminalizing being LGBT. Also to overthrow the US government, as stated in their manifesto.

They want to replace our democracy with a theocracy. No Republican in office was elected without their approval.

They're the kind of right that makes being LGBT punishable by death. That makes it a crime just to exist where others can see you. They want librarians who work in libraries that make LGBT books accessible to be registered sex offenders. They want you prosecuted and even specify that no mercy should be shown to people the "left" likes (ex: immigrants, black people, etc)

That's the extreme right who's been manipulating our laws.

And they plan to make things a lot worse within the first 180 days a Republican is elected president.
