“Why’re you here?” Buck asked, taking Eddie by surprise.

“I can leave if you want me too, just figured you wanted help getting re-dressed.”

Buck frowned before shaking his head. “No not-not that. I mean here as in—here,” Buck said, emphasizing as he pointed down to his injured leg. “Why do you keep helping me, taking-taking care of me?”

It was Eddie who frowned then.

“I thought it was obvious.”

When that didn’t seem like the answer Buck was looking for either, Eddie continued on.

“Buck, you’re my best friend, of course I want to help you. You do so much for me and Christopher, and—well there isn’t anywhere I’d rather be.”

Buck thought it over for a minute. “Yea but, wouldn’t you—I dunno, don’t you have better things to do with your time?” He looked toward the ground then, avoiding Eddie’s gaze.

Eddie shrugged. “Not really. Chris is at school and the oblivious idiot I wanna call my boyfriend is standing right in front of me.”

Blues met him in an instant, Buck’s eyes wider than Eddie ever remembered seeing them before.

“I—you what?”

Eddie shook with head with a fond, yet exasperated eyeroll.
