⚪Johnathon Ohnn/The Spot Platonic HCs⚫
Been seeing so many awesome Spot HCs around lately, but not many which focus on a platonic relationship, so I decided to make some myself! I might make more in the future, but as for now... enjoy!
Tumblr media
Pre-Collider
Beginnings:
You and Johnathon have studied in the same university and became the closest of friends. He was always a more awkward and reserved guy, but he always felt comfortable around you; he'd tell you about his troubles and be there for you whenever you needed some support.
He is an extremely good listener and would always wait for you to be done venting before offering possible solutions to the problem, or just a shoulder to cry on, in case he couldn't come up with anything that would fix things.
Moving to Brooklynn:
After graduating, since you were both still single, you decided to move to Brooklynn NY together and share an apartment, figuring it'd be easier to split the bills and rent that way.
Johnathon always kept his workplace completely separate from home life. You were aware he was working at some research lab, but he'd always avoid elaborating on what he was doing or who he was working for.
He hated keeping things away from you, and if he could've, he would've told you everything that was going on at Alchemax. Unfortunately, his employment contract kept him from disclosing any details. He just hoped that wouldn't come in the way of your friendship.
Tumblr media
Post-Collider
The Spot is Born:
After Johnathon had been mutated, he was terrified of what you might think of him. His colleagues and even his own family had shunned him, and he was so scared you might do the same.
But against all of his expectations, you actually fully accepted his new form! And if he could've cried when you promised him you'd never turn your back on him, he would have.
At first, he was scared of using his powers, but thanks to your encouragement he began researching and mastering them. Though he generally tries not to rely on them too much, he's come to enjoy them, and when he discovered that you found them super cool it made him even happier!
Present day:
Whenever Johnathon gets insecure about being unemployed or about his body image, he always seeks comfort in you, and then promptly apologizes for being so needy, even if you constantly reassure him he doesn't have to feel sorry for it.
Sometimes, he feels guilty about you being the only one working and paying for everything, especially since you'd rented that apartment with splitting bills between each other in mind. So to make up for it, he occasionally steals things for you using his powers. Mostly food and other bare necessities... and sometimes, cute little trinkets he thinks you might like.
He publicly calls himself The Spot nowadays, but doesn't mind if you prefer to call him Johnathon. It actually makes him feel pretty nice to know that no matter how the rest of the world perceives him, for you he'll always be Johnathon.
With time, he begins to see his transformation as less of a curse, and although he still has a long journey in front of him, he's incredibly grateful you stuck with him through everything.

something about tim & dick’s relationship makes me feel so. !!!
they are both such complex characters and it really makes my heart feel so heavy to think about them for too long.
like. dick created robin out of his parents blood. the costume was inspired by his family's colors. the name was one he was given by his mother and the only reason he took up the role was because he wanted to get justice (revenge really) for his parents death. he was taken in by bruce who was SO YOUNG at the time and who was still learning how to cope with his own loss still. their relationship was built off of that shared grief and understanding. but then one day, dick learned to let go of that grief. he was able to not let it consume and control him. and he grew tired of living in the dark nest that bruce built for them. and bruce doesn't know how to deal with someone else he loves leaving him so he kicks dick out. like yes bruce is dick's father figure of course he is. but he was also his brother in a weird way. dick didn't want or need for his parents to be replaced so bruce offered him something different. he offered him a partnership. and partners are supposed to be equal but somehow bruce ended up placing himself higher than dick and it was suffocating so he had to leave.
and in dicks absence, bruce finds another kid. this time, it's a kid who does need a parent. jason's relationship with bruce is so different than the one that dick had and i have to imagine that it hurt. it hurts to see your father be better for someone else. it makes you think why? why not me? why wasn't i good enough? and to make matters worse bruce gave away dick's blood without a second thought. jason is given the mantle of robin and my god i cannot imagine the pain it caused dick to see someone else flying around in his colors. that was his name. and dick is still just a kid. yeah he's like legally an adult but his prefrontal cortex was nowhere near developed. so he's bitter and short and rude to jason. he has to take time to get used to having another kid at the manor and another kid in his colors but its fine! its fine! he does come around eventually and his guard starts to come down and he commits to being there for jason. but it was too late. dick leaves the planet to be a hero and when he comes back? jason is dead. the kid he was just starting to get used to is dead.
not only is he dead, but he's already in the ground and bruce? bruce goddamn wayne didn't even bother to tell him. how in the world could bruce ever consider them partners. as far as dick was concerned bruce was just as good as dead to him as jason was. and it hurts. it hurts to not be able to go home without seeing the ghost of a kid you chose not to protect, the ghost of a kid who died too soon wearing the same colors that your parents died in.
so dick doesn't go home. he doesn't speak to bruce. he builds himself a new life, the teen titans become dicks home. and he's okay with this. his origin is so similar to bruce's but he refuses to be the same as batman. so he faces his ghosts. he doesn't let them haunt him. he hears about haly's circus potentially getting shut down and he goes to deal with it.
and here is where dick meets tim drake for the first time. tim who tried to help him save haly's circus (albeit he accused the wrong guy but he was trying). tim tells dick that he needs to save batman.
and so dick brings him back to the manor. where tim tells dick just how important he was to his childhood. tim explains how that night at the circus shaped him just as deeply as it shaped dick. tim shares this complete and utter faith in robin, as if robin is enough to save batman from his own grief. but dick knows this isn't true. dick was barely enough to save himself from his own grief much less bruces. but nonetheless bruce saved dick when he was at his absolute lowest. gave him something to believe in. so maybe, just maybe, he can try again for bruce. but not as robin. it can't be robin. his partnership with batman died when he was kicked out and it was buried when he was kept out of the loop about jason. but tim knows that batman needs more than nightwing by his side. so he takes up the robin mantle. he takes it upon himself to 'save' batman. and in a way, he does. he helps bring bruce back from the edge.
and dick. the last time someone took up his families colors, someone died. and he refuses to allow that again. he refuses to be the reason that tim suffers. so he becomes the older brother he couldn't quite bring himself to be for jason. and to tim? he's wearing the mantle of two robins on his back.
his own standards are set so high and he tries his damndest to meet them every time that he puts on the mask because he knows where the colors of the suit came from. he knows why dick created this identity. he was there. he saw the grayson's fall.
and for a while, things are good between them. things are great even.
then the attack at titan's tower happens. and tim is told that he is just a placeholder (not a replacement like fannon likes to claim, but the words jason todd used were placeholder). and seeds of doubt start to be planted. was he ever wanted? was he ever truly appreciated? he did steal the suit the first time he put it on. was it fair for him to wear the colors that were born of dicks blood and that jason died in?
then tim loses his whole support system. stephanie. bart and kon. his dad. and finally, bruce.
dick has been so committed to never being like bruce. he has been so dedicated to relying on those who offer him help. nightwing is pillar in the hero community, but batman. batman was the foundation. he is considered a founding member of the justice league. he doesn't want to take up the mantle. it had never been in his plans. but jason proved too unstable to take up the role and of course he can't ask tim to. so he dawns the cowl he has grown to hate.
this just leaves one little problem. damian.
damian who has just been dropped off on bruce's porch by talia. damian who grew up in the league of assassins and is so out of place in gotham that dick doesn't know what to do. he never asked to be batman and he definitely never asked to be a father. yet here he is. having to do both. so he does what bruce did all those years ago and provides damian with the mantle that he created in order to give this kid some sort of outlet. he knows damian needs it.
by some unfortunate twist of fate, dick has unknowingly created such a painful parallel between his own firing and tim's.
and then tim discovers that bruce isn't really dead.
and this kills dick just a little bit more. of course he wants to believe tim. of course he wants his dad back. he wants someone else to be the one to make these hard calls and he wants someone else to parent damian. he doesn't want to be the one who has to fire his little brother in order to save the other.
but he can't take that chance. he can't risk the hope. because losing it would actually ruin dick. so he tells tim it isn't possible. because to dick? it can't be possible.
and this just furthers the wedge between the two of them. tim feels abandoned and lost and he feels as if he has nothing left.
and dick doesn't understand why tim can't see that he's right here. he's right here tim i'm still here why aren't i enough for you to stay?
anyway this got away from me a little bit but god their relationship could make angels weep it truly makes my heart stop if i think about it too much.

I meant Hama and Katara... But thank you for the Kanna & Katara Link. I'll go theough it.
ohhh yes i obviously have so many thoughts on hama and katara as well..... hama is the embodiment of who katara could have become had a) her circumstances been slightly different (and worse) and b) had she had less emotional strength & resilience & desire to cling to her own humanity at all costs. like, the fact that katara gets multiple figures who embody the terror of her submitting to her most vengeful instincts and perpetuating the cycle of violence instead of working to end it is honestly quite beautiful, as that tension culminates in "the southern raiders" and katara lets herself prioritize her own humanity over her pain and rage and (totally justified) desire for revenge.
i know a lot of people think that hama and jet are the most politically confused aspects of the show, since they do play into the thing lok does where it's like "all oppressed peoples who employ radical means of resistance are simply cackling mustache-twirling terrorists," and while i do think that the way hama is framed at the end of "the puppetmaster" is in poor taste and lacks nuance, it's also pretty clear to me that a) their trauma is portrayed as sympathetic b) their stories are depicted as tragedies and c) atla doesn't actually demonize violent methods of resistance. like if katara wasn't literally the main character i'd feel much more comfortable making that critique (because lok does do this and it's liberal bullshit and it sucks), but we see katara use violent means of resistance as early as episode 6 of the whole show. she's literally framed as a hero for doing ecoterrorism; even when she's actually in the wrong in that situation, her desire to do whatever it takes to help people and encourage them to fight back against their oppressors is celebrated unconditionally.
the lesson katara has to learn from them is that she must never let her anger and desire for revenge consume her over her love for humanity and her drive to help people. jet and hama are both deeply traumatized in a way that made them prioritize wanting to wield power over others in the same way that they were once made vulnerable and helpless, and katara recognizes that instinct in herself too, that instinct in every person who has been subjected to that degree of violence. hama targets fire nation civilians out of spite, because she was once a regular girl from the southern water tribe who was targeted for reasons beyond her control, made to fight and treated like a villain. the reason she goes after "regular people" instead of targeting actual combatants is specifically because she knows that if the roles were reversed, the fire nation wouldn't care about differentiating her people in those roles; she's giving them a taste of their own medicine.
she used to be a resistance fighter who fought back against the imperialists on her land with everything she had, and it didn't work. she suffered unimaginable horrors, and in the process discovered an ability that would allow her to make others suffered the way she did. no, she's not a good leftist or whatever, but her motivation is understandable. she's driven by pain, not reason, just as katara and zuko are in "the southern raiders," just as aang is in "the desert" when he loses appa, just as sokka is in "the boiling rock." when one is hurting that badly, the desire to ease one's pain supersedes logic, supersedes one's core values in general, the values of grief taking its place. hama has been grieving her entire life; whoever she was before the raids is gone, and now she is someone shaped wholly by pain. and had katara not met hama, been traumatized by her, and thus vowed never to be like her, who knows whether she would have had the ability to take a step back and recognize within herself that she is standing over that precipice, and instead walk away from the threshold of violence, and back towards herself.

Fall And Learn
Leto Atreides x F!Reader
Content : angst, comfort, mention of war, throuple.
Summary : The conflict looming over House Atreides starts to affect reader seriously, and Leto intervenes.
Tumblr media
The sky got covered by a dark veil that remained foreign to you. Here on Arrakis, the fresh nights felt just as hostile as the burning days. This planet and its atmosphere always managed to find a way to irk you, either by biting your skin with its cold fangs or with its flaming canines.
You narrowed your eyes as an uncomfortable series of goosebumps started its crusade down your entire body as you tried to decipher some potential omens – were they good or bad – displayed by this strange climate. Intense sandstorms were harassing the high dunes close to the horizon, the orangish hell getting lightened up by the machines that just got swallowed up by these etheral titans. You wondered whether or not the worms were even bigger than those. A part of you was certain this was the case.
At daytime you cursed those monotonous tones dressing Arrakis, at daytime you cursed how dead and threatening the outside world – that world you wouldn't even dare to belong to any day – looked. A shadow more daring than others that would stab you in the back, that dull and bare-looking architecture erasing more and more the comforting memories you had from the heartwarming castle you left behind you on Caladan, those monsters and Fremens out there able to survive where they shouldn't even be able to. And those corridors the Harkonnens and their men walked across of and all those atrocities committed. May they remain anonymous and forgotten.
“The whole Arrakin could feel your anxiety rising up earlier in the morning.”
You didn't respond to the Duke's statement – not to call it a reproach, still busy examining the millenial enigma harassed by those winds so far from there. The man's footsteps stopped by your right and your heard the faint brush on his palms against the fence. Has anybody got pushed off from there?
“I am still... uncertain about your strategy concerning those Fremens,” you ended up saying, “I am fully conscious we would be unable to get ready for war against the Harkonnens if we open another frontline with them on Arrakis, but...”
“As I said, time is going to be precious. Just as much as Spice, if not more.”
The Emperor got you and the Duke's whole House just like that. You snorted at that thought, clenching your jaws as your eyes now wandered over the streets now just as silent as during the endemic heatwaves. No matter how old and pure some bloodlines or cultures appeared, nothing was sacred or safe from ambition and hybris. One day that city and palace could end up in flames or buried down those dunes.
Never before following Leto had felt like a burden but today that thought crossed your mind for a second. A stupid second that now started to slowly consume you. And with all the respect due to his son Paul, his heir wasn't ready to take the throne if anything was to happen. And with all the respect due to Lady Jessica, the Bene Gesserit turned its back to her a long time ago. Would they even be a better choice that the Harkonnens anyway?
“Is there any loophole remaining?”
“You are thinking about leaving.”
“I am not.”
Leto turned to you. You felt it. Today was the day his trust in you would collapse and you accepted that fate. Everything was over here. Too many traitors amongst the guards and maids, the Emperor was against you, the Guild started to raise its voice against the Duke due to the sabotage campaigns targetting the Spice production, the Bene Gesserit tortured Paul without batting an eye, the Harkonnens were looking for revenge, the Fremens wanted their planet back. Those giant worms longer and higher than those stupid dunes, those legends, that sand. By the Gods, you missed Caladan, its safety and its seas so much.
“You are considering fleeing away,” he stated calmly.
Without answering you lowered your eyes down to your jointed hands over the fence. Maybe he was right. Would you flee if you had any possibility to do so ? Probably.
“I sworn to serve and follow your family until my death erases me from this world.”
“I know.”
Leto Atreides was not the most talkative man you had met throughout your life but he seemed to always have the right words at the right moments. His family and duty above everything else, but many precious advices if needed. You still wondered why he accepted you in his own life in such an unexpected way, and even more how Lady Jessica did the same. Not a wife, not an official concubine, not a mistress. You were part of the higher ups and ended up there with the leading couple.
“Is death what you are afraid of? Is it what makes you reconsider your values?”
With a quick glance in his direction you noticed him squinting as he tried to understand what led you to this point.
“It doesn't make me reconsider anything my Lord. I will remain loyal. I am loyal.”
“Loyal but far away from the frontline, even before war.”
“I am loyal. My Lord.”
“Far away from the frontline and without looking at me in the eyes.”
Maybe he was right. Maybe you were a coward. Watching that city so meaningless to you felt easier than promising anything to the lord you promised to serve no matter what with all your heart and soul.
“I am not like Gurney. I am not like you or Lady Jessica. I don't understand how easy it is for you to choose war.”
“Never before would I have guessed you would be so wrong one day. I didn't choose anything in this mess, and nothing is easy for any of us. I obeyed the Emperor. Are the Harkonnens the ones wanting war or him, I can't tell for sure but I didn't. I left my ancestors' land for this hell. I brought my concubine and my son with me, as well as my most loyal followers.”
You knew this already and yet you managed to make him feel offended. How could you forget the mutual surprise and confusion that spread at that announcement that sealed his family's fate ?
“I know my Lord. My apologies.”
“There is no easy way out. I don't even know if such a thing still exists,” he sighed.
You nodded, biting your lip as you tried to guess what his son or his concubine could feel. Paul seemed to be doing as fine as possible in such a mess but you couldn't read him easily. Maybe this was a wrong impression but you were convinced things could turn wrong with him. The determination he started to show, that admiration he felt for the Fremens themselves and the most secret aspects of their culture. You hoped that this whole predicament wouldn't go as far as him turning against his father or aligning himself in a more radical way with those people that had refused any diplomatic exchange so far. The last thing their House needed was a son turning against his father. Not easy to read, but potentially easy to manipulate with his feelings. And Lady Jessica? You both hoped that she definitely turned her back to this Order but also that she didn't. The Bene Gesserit were both incredibly powerful allies and foes. However, may they be close or far away this didn't change anything about the threat they were. But they tortured Paul and his own mother let this happen to him. And yet you could feel her guilt. Who was she exactly ? That planet was changing people and the universe's stakes too much. All because of that Emperor. But the anguish Gurney hid behind anger and frustration whenever conversations started to get close to the Harkonnens...
You took a deep breath as you started to feel sick. The bravest people and most admirable colleagues and friends you knew were terrified, haunted by what was going to happen and they wouldn't be there to shield you from this just like you wouldn't be able to shield them from what was going to happen. In a few hours ? In a few days ? A few months ? Your values and promises had no weight in this universe. The laws making the world turn wouldn't care about your wishes. They wouldn't care about protecting Leto or lady Jessica or their son. They didn't care about relationships, morals, bloodlines, feelings. They existed and you had to find a way to navigate through this.
“There is none,” you started, “nothing can protect us from what the world has against us all.”
“Nothing can protect us if we decide to leave and abandon our closest allies. Your help has been precious back on Caladan, and just as much if not more on Arrakis. I need you – my whole family needs you actually – as well as everyone else to make sure that everything wil be as alright as possible once the day comes. That day that will make us know whether or not if we deserve to fight with all our will. If death is what you are afraid of, do you really think you will want to be remembered as a traitor ?”
“I am not a traitor. To be fair... if the Harkonnens invade this planet I doubt there will be anything to remain from me or their victims. I could only hope they kill me off quickly. At least no matter what they'd do to my corpse, I wouldn't be aware of it.”
You did your best not to think about what Gurney told you as well as all the depressing reports you had read throughout the last decade about the Harkonnens, and prevented your mind from wondering from all those horrors that could occur one day in this city, in this palace itself.
“I need you to focus on the present. Leaving in fear of the future is only going to feed your fear and poison your present days. That is exactly how this works. War doesn't only unfold on the frontline. Psychological war is also a formidable weapon their House cultivated for centuries. The Baron, his nephew and others are what some would call monsters and... mind is a complex thing easy to break. In theory it is also easy to protect, but you need to feel the will to do so. The will to move on, to anticipate the next threats. You need to feel ready to learn and to toughen up without refusing to get the help you need. We are all vulnerable here. If you get frozen by fear, nothing will change. You won't even have a word to say. I know what it feels like to be lonely. This is why I insist so much on creating links with Fremens. We need them as much as they need us. We have to accept that fact. I could blindly say that my House is better than theirs, that I don't need anybody else's help and that I'm ready to welcome them back on Arrakis in the way they deserve because anyone on his right mind would know they better follow me, otherwise they wouldn't stand a chance against their previous oppressor. I won't, because I accept the fact that this would be a blatant lie in order to mask my fear. I want – I have to – confront it with all my will.”
You nodded again, turning to him fully but still avoiding his eyes as you stared at his collar.
“I'm terrified,” you mumbled.
Your vision turned blurry to dark as he welcomed you in his arms silently. No loud sobbing, only a few tears dropping as you tried to gather your thoughts to finally free yourself from what you wanted to express.
“They're coming,” you added, “they're coming for us all. I refuse.”
“All our fears are linked to death in one way or another. Why are you so afraid of death ?”
You shrugged before stepping back. You got carried away and should come back on your tracks. He felt more like a confident and you shouldn't cross that line.
“Any choice could lead to your death, mine, to civilians or worse... they still live in fear of what they had to endure here. When people as tough as them shake with fear... I can't even think of being able to face it myself.”
Surprisingly, he snorted.
“Do you see what I told you this morning? You don't feel hate for them.”
You grinned in shame.
“I can only admit how determined they are to live in such conditions. And... to move on. Despite their hostility towards us. And... I think I feel in a similar way towards the ones living outside the walls. Despite the threat they are... I do respect them. More than what I let know this morning.”
“Fear corrupts and makes us turn against each other. It makes us wish for easier solutions that don't exist. War is imminent. War has always existed, exists, and will exist. Greed as well. Dignity, perversion, honor, bravery, fear, solidarity, hatred. We have to do our best and I know you can. It's a matter of choice.”
“I won't flee. I won't despite what you may think of me. I am afraid as you know already.”
“I know you won't, but I knew you needed a reminder that you're just as brave an anyone else. Make your choices. Not the right or wrong ones. Make yours.”
Embarrassed, you smiled at the way he rubbed your arms with a comforting smile. For a higher up you always found a way to waste his time. You noticed the dark bags under his eyes a long time ago, he needed to get some sleep instead of worrying for his family. After all, he had you and the others to look after him and his concubine and his son.
“You're right, as always.”
“We should have had this discussion a long time ago and yet decided to postpone it because I was afraid you wouldn't follow us on Arrakis. I'm not perfect neither. Nobody else is. But I learn and know when to apologize. Please accept my apologies.”
“I do.”
With an encouraging nod he rubbed your cheek with the back on his hand before walking away to his next destination as you went back to Arrakin, your mind trying to find new ways of protecting the walls.

helloo, may i request hsr men (blade, jing yuan, gepard, dan heng) with a teen reader who is like ruby hoshino?
so more context on the character/reader; basically reader used to be very ambitious, optimistic and outgoing, but then they learn about the truth of a certain event which honestly breaks their optimistic persona a bit and they focus more on their revenge now, which also makes them get a bit closed-off and also show their cunning and manipulative side for the sake of their revenge
thats all thankss!! :]]
-----♡
A/N: Thank you for the additional info and request, Anon! I hope you'll like it!<33
Content: Some angst, hurt/comfort, mentions of revenge, teen reader, platonic relationships, sfw
Reader has no set pronouns!
((Not fully proofread))
-----♡
》Blade
Tumblr media
Blade knew the feeling of wanting revenge all too well. But for some reason, seeing a young kid like you want the same bothered him. He didn't understand why, mainly because he didn't want to care. But it was hard, when you were so destructive and manipulative with your ways. Just like him in a way.
Perhaps he saw a younger version of himself in you, when he actually told you bluntly to give up on your revenge and focus on something else. His tone sounded cold and indifferent, but you knew there was more to that then he let on. But when you didn't want to give up, he asked you why he cared you so much, when he could've asked himself the same question.
After giving him your reasoning, he might be more understanding to it and scoff less, whenever you tell him about it. But generally, he will keep an eye on you, just in case you get too consumed by it. He may be a hypocrite for this, but he just doesn't want you to end up like him.
-----♡
》Dan Heng
Tumblr media
Dan Heng didn't think much of you at first and generally didn't care to know anything about you either, until he caught you trying to look through his archives. He didn't understand why you were sneaking around, when you could've just asked him, but after inspecting the documents you were looking at, he became interested in you.
Your need for revenge leaves him with a certain helplessness. What was he going to do about that, except bluntly tell you not to bother? Revenge can be an all consuming thing... surely you knew of the consequences? And the way you went about it would eventually get you into too much trouble.
He'll offer to help you, when it's really just so he can keep an eye on you. You're too young to worry about any of this and so he'd slowly make you veer off of it by distracting you. He may understand where you're coming from, but he also doesn't want you to fall into a hole you couldn't get out of.
-----♡
》Jing Yuan
Tumblr media
Jing Yuan knew all about your want for revenge and it's reason, but decided to just skillfully ignore it and keep you from it as well. He knew the consequences of revenge consuming someone and didn't want someone as young as you to go through that. And so he figured that addressing it directly would be too risky and push you into it further.
And so he went on to be a little manipulative himself, by slowly making you forget about it and becoming your mentor. Your friendship with Yanqing helped out alot as well, as you thankfully got influenced by his friendly and free-spirited personality subconsciously.
He always keeps an eye on you at all times to make sure you don't do anything thoughtless or dangerous. He cares about you and doesn't want you to slip into the darkness at such a young age. Life is too good for that.
-----♡
》Gepard Landau
Tumblr media
Gepard was very concerned, when he first noticed your manipulative and cunning personality traits consume you. He didn't know of your need for revenge at first and therefore just thought you were having a typical teenage phase. But it eventually became too concerning and odd to ignore, so he decided to confront you about it directly.
He comforted and reassured you, as you told him all about your revenge plans and anger. It took a bit of pressing from the older man, but once it all finally came out, you visibly seemed to feel better, especially when Gepard validated your feelings. But that didn't mean, that he approved of your want for revenge.
Instead, he was very firm and stern on the fact that you drop it and focus on your life. He knew revenge wouldn't do you any good and would just lead to more problems after. And he also knew, that it wouldn't be so easy to just drop either, which is why he promised to help you through everything. He will always be there for you.

Chapter 27-28: Spooky Scary Skellington
(Finally getting back to the book club after a few busy months...)
Chapter 27:
-The White Bone Spirit is one of the most iconic demoness of JTTW, and, as JTTW Research's post on her origin suggests, is likely inspired by the White Tiger Spirit + the giant skeleton nearby in 大唐三藏取经诗话.
-However, when Tripitaka asked about the origin of said giant skeleton at the bottom of a fiery pit, the Monkey Pilgrim gave the strange answer that "This is the place where the Heir Apparent, Ming Huang, changed his bones."(此是明皇太子换骨之处)
-What does that even mean?
-Well, at first, I thought it was just referring to "Corpse Release"(尸解), where Daoists attain immortality by leaving behind a fake corpse——usually a transformed object such as cane, clothes or shoes——to literally trick death.
-Then I finally got to read "Birth of JTTW"(西游记的诞生) by Cai Tieying, in which he traces the "changing of bones" to a legend in the Song dynasty record, 默记.
-Summary: an assassin was sent to kill Tang Minghuang (after he basically abdicated due to the An Shi Rebellion), hit him with a hammer in his sleep, and the hammer just bounced off his head with a clang.
-Minghuang woke up and was like "Yep, I've been expecting this"; ever since he had consumed jade and a golden elixir of immortality under the advice of the famous Daoist Ye Fashan, his bones were transformed into literal jade.
-So if the assassin wanted to kill him for good, he gotta split open Minghuang's skull and take out the elixir——an advice the assassin promptly followed.
-That peculiar little trivia aside, there is a theory about SWK's ability to see through demonic disguises in the Chinese JTTW booksphere, which might explain why Tripitaka never seems to trust him on that regard.
-Unlike in TV adaptations, the "Fiery Eyes and Golden Vision" doesn't work like an X-Ray; rather, it's more like an infrared thermal camera.
-This means SWK can't literally see through a demon or immortal's disguise and perceive their true form, just the general "aura" around them in the form of demonic or auspicious Qi.
-Thus, when this aura is hidden by ambience Qi, altered to fit one's general appearance or less on-the-nose(as later chapters would show), SWK's magical vision also takes a dive in accuracy.
-Furthermore, prior to WBS, none of the demons they encountered had used a human disguise in order to capture Tripitaka.
-So even if SWK said "Hey master, I can totally see through demonic disguises" after he killed the demoness(which he didn't), without precedents, it's gonna sound like he pulled the ability right out of his ass, as a shoddy excuse to justify murdering humans——something Tripitaka did witness before.
Chapter 28:
-Fun fact: during the Qing dynasty, there's a big-budget opera adaptation of JTTW called 升平宝筏, exclusively performed in the royal palace. In this version, the White Bone Spirit and Yellow-robed Demon are actually sworn siblings!
-After Yellow-robed Demon kidnapped the princess, she was the one who helped talk her into accepting the marriage. So when she was killed by SWK, Yellow-robed Demon was furious, and, as revenge, kidnapped Tripitaka + turned him into a tiger later.
-Combining different arcs, much like adding unnecessary romantic subplots, is actually quite common in Qing opera adaptations of JTTW. This change, however, makes more sense than the others.
-First, it explains the "family" that WBS offhandedly mentioned, secondly, the two arcs are already sequential, so making the two demons related doesn't seem like that far of a stretch.
-The burning of FFM is heartwenchingly described, and arguably where most villainous characterizations of Erlang come from. However, hear me out——I don't think he actually did it.
-At the end of Chapter 6, after Erlang caught SWK, his brothers was like "Enough talk, let's take him to the celestial realm." To which Erlang replied that sorry, they were not recognized as part of the celestial bureaucracy and literally not allowed to meet the Jade Emperor.
"But don't worry, I'll go report to the Jade Emperor together with the devarajas, you six stay behind on FFM to do a thorough search of the mountain(搜山). Once you are done, return to Guankou, and right after I get the rewards, I'm heading straight back to share it with y'all."
-Indeed, in the next chapter, after the Jade Emperor gave him a lot of gifts, he said his thanks and returned to Guanjiangkou, where his temple was at.
-My theory is, Erlang did not lead the burning personally, or give a direct order to——he was still in the Celestial Realm, making reports while FFM burned.
-And his six sworn brothers, being hunters and martial men, interpreted "search the mountain" rather liberally in his absence and left out the details once he returned with their reward.
-Just as usual, another job well done, let's get the victory party started.
-Of course, whether Erlang was personally there, leading the burning, makes little difference to the monkeys of FFM; it wasn't him, but he sure as hell wasn't NOT involved either.

Tumblr media
I only wanted to answer in reblog but it got so long i decided to make a separate post. But it had me thinking about media consumerism and how it could affect the open-mindedness for different shows soooo...
Here is a guide to...
HOW TO GET SOMEONE TRAPPED IN THE CLONE HELL
... not entirely a guide but more like an observation.
If we want to look at the problem with the fast-paced media consumer viewpoint, I think starting with the Bad Batch it's actually not a bad idea for someone who never watched Star Wars animated media before. It's sad but cartoons, animations can repulse people to watch things because they link them to child stories, something only a child would watch, also most of the people prefer live action instead of animated stuff. Especially if the said movie/series is quite old. cont. under the cut...
There could be a reason why people are not interested in clones
If a friend, family member, boyfriend/girlfriend/whatever only saw the movies and were not interested in TCW before, had not seen it as a child on TV, they will probably have prejudice against the clones. - They weren't the main characters in the movies therefor we have not seen them interacting that much with the main cast. - But even if you don't know star wars, you will probably know the clones for Order 66, white armored assholes who murdered the jedi aka good guys. And when the movies came out, inhibitor chips weren't in the picture. ---> this observations came while watching TCW with my dad who didn't like the clones because for this exact same reason: the clones basicly serve antagonist without question in a world where rules were set: jedi are good, sith are evil. -> I don't care that it is more complex that. It is what was shown. While he enjoyed the clone-centric episodes, he still stood at his point. They killed the jedi. End of story. - People have different interests :'(((((((
THE CLONE WARS 2003
Why do I recommend this first.
You can always say it's made by the same guy who made Samurai Jack. Strategically speaking Clone Wars 2003 would be a good starting point despite not being canon anymore because TCW is adapting some of the stories shown here. It recaps well what happened between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Also this is the first media where Asajj Ventress and Grievous were introduced, and where you can actually see Grievous in his prime, an absolutely terrifying foe who actually can mop the floor with the jedi. Lots of jedi were introduced here which later also appeared in TCW. Why is this important: Having familiarity with the characters shown in memorable scenes helps that you will recognise them later in other media. Like... Hey it's the jedi dude who stripped in the middle of a fight! Hey, aren't these the same guys who mutated an entire village out of fun who kidnapped Echo??? And so on. TIME: 25 x 5 minutes episodes full of action so it keeps up the interest, and... FORDO. 5 minutes of full clone badassery. While TCW emphasises on the theme that the clones are living, feeling human beings who can die exactly like a human, in CW2003 they are shown like really the badass super soldiers (especially the ARC Troopers) who were bred for war. How much time it takes an episode to watch is an important factor. Because someone who binge watches 10 x 1 hour long netflix series under one day without sleep, drink, eat is not a guarantee that they will be able to sit through 133 x 22 minutes episodes. The sheer numbers will scare them away, nobody has a time watch 133 episodes when you can watch like... 5 different series instead! STORY TELLING COMPARED TO TCW: CW2003 goes for mostly visual story telling instead of talking. It's suspenseful, it's scenic, it's extreme, sometimes silly (rocket-launcher clone in the elevator with zero fuck given is still my favorite) but it's guarantee that you will remember. TCW episodes are varying from episodic to two-to-four episode arcs, it has silly comic relief episodes, it has serious dark episodes, obligatory beach episode, obligatory valentine day episode, obligatory school festival episodes obligatory-just kidding lol , so the lenght of one story can be varying, so is the quality of them. So unless you have a hyperfixation, or are a completionist, or interested enough, the episodes - in psychologycal term -, won't urge you the continue. Because in one 22 minutes episode you got a complete story without cliffhanger it won't make you think, because all the questions asked in the beginning of the episode was answered at the end. It won't rush you to continue, because you know that probably the next episode will be about an entire different conflict. You can stop anytime without the feeling of "just one more episode, just one more episode". Also, it doesn't help that you know how the story will end if you saw Revenge of the Sith. The forementioned uglyness... It took me years to finish TCW. I hated when it came out back in 2009 despite loving Star Wars and CW2003 and only after a decade picked up my interest again, it still took me years to finish it anyway. Back then, I really hated how everything got quickly 3D in neglection of 2D. But can't say it's ugly because it's old, it was ugly when it came out! You really have to force yourself to accept how it looks until you are fine with it, because your eyes got used to it. Also some episodes were boring, not entertaining, I just lost interest and only came back later to continue and I even forgot what happened before. I can't remember most of the arc expect those I was interested in to rewatch it again in the last years. Yes, the quality will improve. Season 7 is beautiful. The visuals of Bad Batch is also beautiful. But between season 6 and season 7, years passed.
THE BAD BATCH
Why do I recommend TBB for someone who ain't got time for shit™:
- TBB season are 16 episodes long. It's friendlier than 133 number wise. - There are only a few main characters to follow. It's important because when there are a large cast of characters, it's easy to get confused who is who and with literal CLONES as main characters, it's hard to distinguish them from each other. I know I can distinguished them, because I'm so fixated on them that every single verbal and non-verbal gesture they make will shoot me into outer space. - The Batch uses popular character tropes, different looks, different voices and tones, so they are recognisable, therefore, you will remember them for the rest of the show. So it will be a chance that you will fall for at least one member of the batch. And then you'll be thirsting mess over one character and eventually you'll be staning all of them, and eventually you will seek out more contents, fanfics, fanarts, headcanons with them that will attract TCW characters or events as well that will lead further deep down into the clone-hell. --> You can start showing the Bad Batch arc TCW where Jesse, Kix, Rex, Cody is also present, so there are plenty of topic and characters to talk about later. Also... Who is this Echo guy, how did he end up here? You can show the Domino Squad episodes, Kamino arc, citadel arc... - This could be a double-edge sword, but TBB are shown resemblance to Delta Squad, Omega Squad and Null ARC troopers. You know Delta Squad from the Video Game, Republic Commando, while the Omegas and Nulls are the main characters of the book series with the same name by Karen Traviss. I say it's double edged, because without these fantastic characters we wouldn't have The Bad Batch, but also I can understand the fans who wanted the Deltas adapted properly instead. - In season 1, the "fillers" add to the story and the characters as well and they won't get episodic-amnesia. (they may have TCW amnesia though... yes, I look at you Echo.) - In Season 1, there is a clear conflict which shadow always lingers even if the plot of the episode does not directly touches it. - Returning characters from TCW like Rex and Gregor could make the consumer ask the questions: who are these guys and why are they important? Rex is cute, is there more episodes with him? Oh yes, my dear prey friend, there is a whole series about him. - I only say season 1 because I'm not entirely satisfied how season 2 were handled while I enjoyed the first one. My hyperfixation for TCW last year literally started with Bad Batch. The trailer was so misleadingly awesome I wanted to watch it before season 2 would come out, but I wanted to finish TCW first (finally!). Season 6 and Season 7 were basicly binge watch and it got me interested again in the previous seasons too.
STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS 2008 (movie)
Why do I recommend this before TCW - It has Fox - Because sitting through a one-night movie is still easier than watching 133 episodes while maintaining the same quality of the show. - It has Fox - It shows the story how Ahsoka is introduced as Anakin's padawan the first time and we get a glimpse of their initial relationship and dynamic. - It has Fox - Basicly two arc in one movie but the introduced characters stay the same the entire time so you have time to get to know them, recognise them, and later you can remember them. - It has Fox - It has Fox.
TALES OF THE JEDI
It has that one episodes with the clones where they train Ahsoka. Possible questions could be asked: wtf happens at the END? Where is the rest of it? You can instantly show the last arc of season 7. Which would lead to another questions: wtf are the mandalorians, why Maul is here, wtf happening with Rex during O66, why is he hesitating to shoot Ahsoka? Now you can show the Chip conspiracy ARC with Fives! This Fives is a nice guy, is there more episodes of him? Oh boy~
And if they are interested in watching TCW with you..
- Watching together as spending time together usually helps. I think discord also has a function where you can stream movies to others. - You don't have to watch it in the exact order the episodes came out - Show arcs. There are lot of clone centric arcs. I literally collected all the episodes where Echo and Fives are present. --> Dad remembered Echo the whole time and he felt sorry for him. I showed the episodes in such order that his story could be followed easely. ------------- I know. I get it. Every episode is awesome. Every character is awesome. They are. They are all blorbos. They are our blorbos.

Well, hello!
I was talking to a friend who says she has been a fan of the Hellaverse for a long time (Zoophobia), and she told me that at that time there was a character who was supposed to be like the Cthulhu of that universe. She also told me that this character, whose name at the time was "Malvada" (Wicked? It's strange because 'malvada' is used to refer to an evil woman) turns out to be Alastor's father (which would explain his powers that have nothing to do with radio, or that Roo's eyes seem to focus on him, or the strange contrasts with Lucifer), and at first their relationship was that they didn't get along, and then that changed to Alastor not knowing that Malvada was his father.
After a long conversation where she explained to me what things have been changing, what has been maintained and different things said by Vivzie, we ended up creating our theory of how Hazbin Hotel could work with this information.
Our theory consists in this:
Heaven did not imprison evil, it only contained it in its own kingdom. What we know as hell was where Malvada was, unable to access heaven or earth. When the earth was created and the tree grew, evil was able to reach the roots and infect the apples. Lucifer and Lilith did not know this when they offered the fruit to Eve.
When Eve ate the apple, she was infected with evil, and this gave rise to Roo, either because evil "took root in Eve" and from that combination Roo was born, or because Eve became infected with evil which grew until she died and evil ended up consuming her soul, forming Roo. Anyway, with the birth of Roo, evil (Malvada) was able to access the world.
During the years that followed, Malvada spread evil throughout the world, but when he returned to his kingdom he discovered that there were intruders, Lucifer and Lilith now rule his lands, and he still cannot access heaven to destroy it. Remembering that he was able to access Earth thanks to Roo, he decided that he needed more offspring, and over time he chose different people with whom to have children. The problem is that this is a case like Ego and Peter Quill in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2", not all of Malvada's children can activate their powers, most of them have nothing exceptional.
I saw that previously someone mentioned here "The Three Wise Monkeys", that of "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil", and my friend and I agree.
We believe that Malvada is, at the very least, looking to put together his triad, he already has Roo, who represents "the eyes of evil" (as opposed to "See no evil"), and Roo has already activated her powers, but his plan is delayed because he cannot obtain the same results.
Then, Alastor is born, either because Malvada managed to trick Al's mother, or she was really in love with him. This leads to 3 other theories: 1) Al's mother lived as a single mother, which only made life more difficult for both of them. 2) Alastor's mother became pregnant before or after marrying a man who is recognized as the father, but abandoned them at some point. 3) Alastor grew up with a man he recognized as a father, but he was an abuser.
Either way, the point is that Alastor doesn't know which Malvada is his father. And Malvada is very pleased with Alastor, because he can see that he has great latent power.
My friend also told me that, originally, Alastor and Malvada didn't get along because Malvada killed Alastor's mother, and we came to the conclusion that that's still true.
This theory includes that Alastor was a good child, he could have been a good person, until he saw his mother being murdered in front of him. This activates part of his powers, which leads him to become a serial killer, justified by wanting revenge, since he does not know or does not remember who or what killed his mother (trauma).
We also believe that Malvada or Roo had something to do with Alastor's death because they needed him to be in hell at a specific time.
To this we also include that probably some of the Overlords that Alastor killed when he made his debut in hell were his siblings, other "failed attempts" of Malvada.
So, Malvada/Wicked/Evil already has "the voice of evil" (as opposed to "Speak No Evil"), but it's not complete yet. Malvada knows that Alastor is not a failure, he can feel the power in him, but he has not yet activated his full potential as Roo. This may be because Alastor maintains his strange but existing moral code, or because Alastor sold his soul and it is holding him back.
Another thing my friend and I talked about is about the third member of this triad, who could be "the ears of evil" (as opposed to "hear no evil"). The options are that Malvada's plans are being delayed because, in addition to waiting for Alastor to activate his powers, they are waiting for this third member, either because they has not shown up yet, or is in a similar situation to Alastor.
Personally, I think this third member could be Zestial, someone who listens to rumors and enjoys hearing screams, who is a strange combination between a spider and a bat/vampire, so it seems that information is his forte. An ancient Overlord, respected and feared. Someone who has a relationship of mutual respect with Alastor. It would be interesting if the one whom many of us see as Alastor's grandfather in hell, turns out to be his older brother, but who is treated as "Middle Brother"
(Roo would be the older sister who acts like the youngest, Zestial the middle brother who acts like the oldest and Alastor the younger brother who acts as if he were an only child and thinks he is everyone's favorite)
For Malvada, these 3 children are just a means to an end, they are like a battery, not even Roo, who is considered "daddy's favorite" is more than a useful tool. All this time Roo has fulfilled her function as a scapegoat, everyone who knows Roo believes that she is "the evil", Malvada remains hidden to take heaven by surprise. But he's losing patience and wants to show himself to try to speed things up with Alastor and (probably) Zestial.
It turns out that the princess's hotel (fake princess, according to him) seems to be the perfect place to get close to the "usurpers" (the royal family), try to access heaven, and also get closer to his son and try to get him on his side...or at least try to get his soul and use him like the puppet he is.

What do you think the sisters would be like if vi was the one who got left behind and powder/Jinx didn't? Basically what if they swapped places and vi got the role as silco's daughter.
Hi. Ok, so this is a lot. A bit of a challenge of an ask cos obvs there’s a lot of hoops to jump for this scenario to happen. Like how would Vi even end up with Silco while Powder ended up in prison? why would Silco bond with Vi if she wasn’t betrayed by a sibling? what would make Vi want to stay with Silco and not want to murder him after everything he did to her?
The possibilities are endless and would require massive changes to the story so I’m gonna try to mainly approach this from the angle of how would this change affect personalities and relationships based on what makes sense for the characters.
I’d assume Powder wouldn’t survive prison or it’d break her, where she’d become even more shy and low on self-esteem or she’d learn from others how to survive in the harsh environment, and that’d make her cruel kinda like her current self but no bombs cos she has no means to learn how to make them. If we want a narrative for acts II and III then lets say we can’t have this dead/dead in spirit version of Jinx so lets go with the other scenario. In that case I’d essentially imagine her how I think young Silco was. Wearing rags, a very bright person but very weak physically, doesn’t know how to fight ‘properly’, probs very agile and likes using a weapon like a makeshift knife. She spends her days convinced Vi knows exactly where she is and just continuously chooses to abandon her.
Now Vi is way trickier to do, but lets say for some reason she learns Silco’s side of the story about Vander and it’s convincing to her. It still wouldn’t make sense for her to bond with Silco over her sibling trauma or being mad at her sibling cos she’s not mad at Powder. Maybe she thinks Powder is dead and shows huge regret and that convinces Silco that she’s a redeemed/better version of Vander who would never betray a family member. Vi could be taken aback by Vander’s sins like trying to kill Silco and refusing to join Silco in fighting. She never wanted to abandon/lead to the death of her sister but in this scenario she also knows that Vander actively tried to kill his brother and she could see the side of herself that she hates in Vander and grow to hate him through projection. Upon learning that all Silco wanted to do was revolt she’d have no ideological differences with him.
There’s still a lot of problems like what about Ekko? why would Vi still be ok with Silco if he lead to the death of all of her family? even if she let that go why choose to live with him, she’s not 10? what about her good heart and Silco’s methods and cruelty? Well, maybe let’s lean on Silco as a corrupting influence as an answer to these questions. He could view her as a better Vander, as a Vander replacement maybe, and that’s how he can start bonding with her. He went in hoping Vander would join him and he gets a mini Vander to join him instead. He highlights to Vi the importance of family and loyalty to your family, how she’s the better Vander, she’d never intentionally abandon her sister and hence she’d never abandon him. Maybe Vi wants to make up for Vander’s wrongs to prove to herself that she’s not like him (and on some level to improve his legacy/memories she has of him) so she does get invested in the idea of Silco being her family. Maybe she uses Silco as a Powder replacement and tries to make it up to Powder by making it up to him. She likely also wants to fight even more now as a part of fixing Vander’s wrongs. Maybe she is consumed by the want for setting things right and revenge and respect and so slowly over time she becomes willing to do anything for the cause. I’d imagine that as essentially a mini Sevika she’d be way more useful than Jinx was.
I think Silco would probs be soft on her like he is with Jinx and Vi’d likely try to recreate her relationship with Vander somewhat, not looking for someone to dote on her and favor her like Powder did, but still wanting an adult’s/parent’s approval and support of her decisions like she wanted Vander’s approval and support when it came to her going on missions and fighting Piltover. And just like with Jinx Silco would be bad at real parenting but the perfect wish-fulfillment cool dad who let’s her do whatever and thinks she can do no wrong. He’s probs not as obsessed with her tho cos she’s not very much like him and has different life experiences and trauma. The love is way more like that towards the firstborn son, as in it’s conditional on her constantly proving that she’s worthy, that she’s not like Vander.
It's interesting to think how in this scenario the sisters reconciling is way more likely to happen cos Silco is not in the way and if anything he’d be all for taking Jinx in as well.
But like I already mentioned this is all highly speculative cos to truly make this work the story would need a rewrite from the ground up. That’s why I tend to like the idea of an au where Silco gets involved in Vander’s family by reconciling with him in act I or before (like maybe the betrayal never happened and him and Vander never split paths). That way the characters get to remain way more in-character while still getting a happy ending.

SHINOBU FOR ASK GAME!!!
OFC OFC HELL YES MY BELOVED SHINOBU <3 TY JAYFORD <333
Favorite thing about them: There are so, so many things I love about Shinobu, but ultimately I think my favorite thing has to be her all-consuming desire for revenge. That sounds so edgy, but it is very rare that I get to see a female character have a genuine revenge plot line, let alone that being the main focus of her story, and it actually gets to end with her killing the man she wants revenge against. So many revenge plot lines (especially ones given to women) end with the character giving up vengeance, or allowing someone else to take it for them. Not Shinobu. She got what she wanted and told Douma to go fuck himself in hell. Queen shit
Least favorite thing about them: I tried so hard to come up with something, but I truly have no genuine complaints with Shinobu's character and how she's written. So I'll choose something petty. Her hairstyle. Like, pinned up it looks fine, I like it, but we never see her hair down so I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE IT DRIVES ME INSANE. I def don't think she has very long heir, I tend to go with shoulder length, but god I would love to know
Favorite line: Tbh her whole monologue from her opening scene still sticks with me. Her cadence and word choices and cheery smile as she talks about torturing the sister spider demon did such a good job of introducing her as a character, and their the lines I can most clearly remember off the top of my head
brOTP: Now.... hear me out.... Shinobu and Sanemi. I like the hc that they grew kind of close themselves when Sanemi and Kanae were Hashira together. I think they probably would have gotten along pretty well (well, by Shinobu and Sanemi standards) before Shinobu adopted a lot of Kanae's mannerisms and personality after her death. Because of this, I like to think that Sanemi is one of the few people she will fall back into her "old" personality with, at least in small ways. I do think they drifted apart after Kanae's death though. Partially because Shinobu emotionally distanced herself from pretty much everyone, but also because Sanemi didn't like her trying to emulate Kanae in the ways that she did. He found it weird and unsettling. But, every now and then, in brief moments where they're alone together, they can fall into old teasing and banter more easily than they realize
OTP: ShinoMitsu, easily! It's one of my favorite kny ships in general. I think that Shinobu and Mitsuri compliment each other as characters very well, and there is so much angst potential regarding their relationship (I know you know what I'm talking about, you understand Jayford haha). Mitsuri inspiring Shinobu to want to live again but she doesn't know how is actually something that can be so personal
nOTP: Shinobu x any man. Sorry that's a whole lesbian. But more specifically, I really can't fuck with Giyu//Shino or Dou//Shino. Keep that shit AWAY from me. I just don't like them in general, but I find so much of the content for them leans very heavily into "woman fixes sad broken man" and makes Shinobu way too nurturing and mothery which.... eugh....
Random headcanon: I like the headcanon that she opens the Butterfly Mansion to any women who need a shelter/resources for any reason, related to demons or not. The estate is huge, and as a Hashira, money is not an issue. So she's more than happy to give any women and girls a place to stay if they need to get out of bad situations (be it related to family, marriage, or something demonic). She is obviously very busy, so she's not directly involved with a lot of the women who are in and out, but she does what she can for them. She's also very willing to get any girls to good trainers to become swordsmen, if they want
Unpopular opinion: I feel people in the fandom swing wildly between two misinterpretations of her. The first being where people act like she's a much "better" person than she is, and who seem to fall for her smiles and pleasant tone. They treat her as if she can do no wrong, and tend to get mad/upset if someone depicts her as less than perfect (wild to me, esp considering canon makes it very obvious that she has many flaws). However, you also have the other side of the spectrum, where people act as if she's a horrible, awful irredeemable bitch and disregard her kindness as nothing but an act because she's complex and sometimes does questionable things. I do think both of these things are rooted in misogyny, the belief that women have to either be perfect goddesses, OR they're two-faced fake bitches, and unfortunately because Shinobu is so nuanced, she tends to get both. But yeah I hate both these interpretations of her and they are both very wide spread. Like guys... can we please just appreciate her for being a nuanced character who has both good and bad aspects, I'm begging
Song I associate with them: I have a couple! Kamikaze and Spoils of War for Shinobu specifically, and then Thank You For the Venom and Dying Star for some ShinoMitsu vibes imo (I should make a Shinobu/ShinoMitsu playlist)
Favorite picture of them: Every time I think of this little drawing I lose my mind, it's so cute and the way Shinobu is just fucking staring at her.... Real

Argument-Break up.
"If you leave through that door, don't come back"
How would the Pedro boys react to a strong argument?
Warning: Angst, overprotection, ending the relationship, jealousy, implied prostitution, post-traumatic stress, working too much, revenge, parent-child relationships.

-DJARIN:
You had a good relationship, Mando is not a man who likes to yell or get into conflict with the people he loves, but some time after you were together and when you only spent a few months settled in your cabin, Djarin began to act more protective of you. It's not that he controlled you, but lately he seemed to get too scared simply by you taking longer than usual when shopping. You assume it's because he never imagined having what he has now and losing it terrifies him.
One day, when you return from chatting with some friends, he is waiting on the porch and reproaches you for not warning. You tell him that need your own space too apart from the family, but the argument gets out of control and you stay at an inn in the city for the rest of the week. He ends up coming back and apologizing for his behavior, explaining to you that the times he's been careless has meant losing what he loves. He tells you things about his past, you get a new normal that was even better than before, your bond stronger.

-JOEL:
Joel had gotten a lot better with his emotions since you met him, but the deterioration of his relationship with Ellie due to what happened with the fireflies ends up taking its toll. The day she finds out and tells that doesn't want to have anything to do with him, something breaks, he becomes more and more melancholic and closed, you notice that there aren't even mirrors in his house because can't bear to look at his own reflection. You try to help but don't know what else to do, in the end you become two strangers.

You knew what kind of man Javier was when started seeing each other, were aware of his complicated work and the relationship with the informants, even so you liked him and considered a good man, it was not necessary to ask for more commitment, but on the day of your grandfather's death expected him to support you, after all he was your friend.
You called him to ask if you could see each other and talk to spend some time together, you needed comfort, but he didn't answer. You didn't know where to go so went to his apartment, only to see how Peña said goodbye very affectionately to a beautiful girl at the door, understand that was why he had ignored the attempt to contact, jealousy consumed you and confronted him, you told that nothing made sense if couldn't count on him.
Tumblr media
-JAVI:
Javi was always so sweet, as time went by you thought would never meet someone like that, he went out of his way to make you happy, showering with attention. You were very happy when he finally achieved his dream of working in the world of cinema, what you did not expect was the overload of work that entailed, including trips abroad, you saw each other less and less.
You tried to talk to him but it was very difficult, the day you got him Javi took it as an attack, as if you didn't support his independence and achievements, that led to great anger before he boarded a plane. The day he returned called you to talk, welcoming with a bouquet of flowers and promising to dedicate more time to your relationship. You also apologized for your reaction and celebrated with a picnic in an open, bright place.
Tumblr media
-OBERYN:
You were always impressed with how impetuous the red viper was, it was something you supported and admired about him. But the loss of his sister changed all, the anger consumed him and seemed to think of nothing else. The day he told you that was leaving to attend a wedding and complete his revenge against the Lannisters, you knew that couldn't go on like this, you wanted the life to be something more than hate, you told him that when returned he wouldn't expect to find you.

This is old news now, with the newer cookies released since, but I've been thinking a lot about how the fandom kept comparing Affogato to Pomegranate - for better or worse - because something about it seemed really... Off, you know?
And I finally figured it out: Pomegranate and Affogato are almost nothing alike in actuality. Superficially and aesthetically? Yes they carry similar vibes. But as characters, motivations and backstories go they're almost entire opposites.
Note- A lot of this is conjecture from taglines, defeat sprites, and reading up on wikis, so bear with me.
Affogato's story is one of trying to claw his way up from rags to riches. From being the servant taking orders to being the king giving them. It's heavily implied he's been mistreated and pushed around all his life for his background, and he knows he didn't do anything to deserve it but exist.
His response to this situation is to take charge of his life. He's due a backlog of respect and good treatment, and he fully intends to demand immediate payment, with interest. He is snarky and backstabbing and conniving and manipulative, because he is tired of being trod on and dismissed and abused all of his life. He has been taught that to get good treatment, he has to be underhanded, hard to read, manipulative.
Even so, he is quick to defer to others as a survival mechanism. If you push, he falls over, deliberately. He will surely take revenge later for it, but when push comes to shove, in the moment he will take his hits with a stoic face and avoid further escalation. It could be calculation, but also is likely a trauma response.
So then how does Pomegranate compare to this? Well, it's been harder to analyze her upbringing, any specific traumas or lack thereof, because there's not a lot to go off of for her backstory in crk. A lot of it is 'once upon a time she was a priestess foretold to fall to darkness, and she did the end'. You could argue it either way, as perhaps being foretold to betray her village led to being a social outcast, or that the lack of detail implies her life was pretty bland before Dark Enchantress arrived.
Either way, there's a few key differences between her and Affogato:
1) she has not, cannot and will not experience the exact trauma he went through. She fit in perfectly with others in her village physiologically and had a place she 'belonged' -and from her pov, went from there to a place she Belonged when she joined DE.
2) she is a willing and truly, wholeheartedly Devoted servant. She does not demand or ask to be DE's equal nor superior. She is consumed with the desire for nothing more than to be of some use to DE, to perhaps be praised and seen positively by her, but Pomegranate does not ask for more even if more would be nice. This leads to the next points -
3), unlike Affogato she is not very underhanded. Manipulative? Yes. But a lot of her tricks are done in the open and are not about subtlety or pulling the wool over your eyes, so much as hitting where it hurts emotionally or threatening your safety using DE's reputation. This also ties into:
4) Pomegranate is not actually very self-sufficient or self-motivated. This is where being Affogato's opposite comes into play.
See, Pomegranate and Affogato are two ends of an unhealthy spectrum in this area. From their tactics and backstories to even their attacks and functions in their teams, Pomegranate operates Solely on externalized motivation and power, while Affogato Exclusively sticks to whatever he can do with his own hands. Capitalistic society might argue Affogato's way is 'better' somehow in that he is Always capable, but is he? Did not having anyone to truly rely on or trust work out for him in the end? Not so much.
And in a game like Cookie Run, a game where all challenges are crafted for Teams of cookies, to work together with various strengths to overcome obstacles.... Affogato really isn't going about any of it in a way that will get him where he wants long term. He's a loner in a 'friendship is the true power' narrative world. He has his reasons, but ultimately will not achieve his goals as a result. He'll always have the motivation and drive, but never the means.
Pomegranate also suffers from this construct, but in a different way.
Pomegranate is not looking to be equal to or superior to DE. She places her on a pedestal and is otherwise content serving her, so long as she gets recognition. However, in her drive to get that recognition, she does seek out being above everyone else. Not equal to. Above. She sees herself as a channel for DE's wisdom and while she can never be above or equal to DE as a result, DE's wisdom and intelligence trump all else, in Pomegranate's world. So she places herself above the others, peers and foes alike, and distances herself from all of them.
Even if that weren't a factor though.... Pomegranate dwindling herself down to nothing more than an extension of Dark Enchantress also means she is never truly Capable. She does not function independently the way Affogato does (although the wedges she intentionally drives don't help). But over-reliance is another loss of freedom, even in the 'Friendship Conquers All' narrative.
Pomegranate has no drive on her own, where Affogato has nothing but. She only does what she understands DE wants, and will only cooperate with others just enough for that purpose. If you take DE out of the equation.... What would remain of Pomegranate? What would she even do with herself?
And this is part of why these two are so different. When you take everything from Affogato, his fire continues to burn. He will lose and get beaten up, but he will cut his losses like a lizard with a decoy tail if it means he lives another day, because as long as Affogato lives his drive and purpose remain.
Taking everything from Pomegranate would mean taking away Dark Enchantress, too. You could take anything else and she'd barely bat an eyelash, too unattached (or acting like it) to be impacted. Because so long as she has DE she has all she needs. But if you took away DE?
Obviously it would depend on how you took DE out of the picture for her. If Pomegranate thought she could get her back and that's what DE wanted? She, like Affogato, would stop at nothing. But if she thought she couldn't, or worse that DE fully rejected her?
It's possible Pomegranate would try to take DE's plans into her own hands. But it doesn't feel as nearly a sure thing. Even her role in a team is to support others quietly, bolstering them so they can fight for the cause. She does not take matters into her own hands unless she thinks that's what DE wants.
So tl;dr - back when Affogato came out, the fandom kept comparing the two, and especially used their superficial 'sketchy advisor' shared tropes as a form of discourse on hate of female characters in fandom (???).
But I really think it's a disservice to Pomegranate to claim she's the same character as Affogato if anything. So I had to write out their differences because really when you push aside the superficial traits, they're more opposite than alike. It's only natural some people would like one more than another when they're so different, in either direction.

Hello, I’m not really used to giving prompts so I hope this prompt isn’t too bad, but it was actually partially inspired by your upcoming Magnetism fic, minus the shipping stuff anyway. So this would take place in the young justice universe, it would probably be a a darker story (probably a one shot), with the YJ facing off against an anti hero Danny who’s gone through some horrible traumatic event and is destroying every GIW base he can find. Usually a story like this would have a happy ending like the YJ team convincing Danny to stop, but I want this Danny to be too consumed by anger and revenge, leading to the one shot ending with him heavily injuring the YJ team and continuing his rampage. What do you think?
Ironic that you should mention Magnetism to me now, when I'm drafting the first chapter out as we speak. ;3 On one hand, this version you've presented here is technically darker, in some ways, but I do want to tell you now: Don't underestimate how messed up I'm making Danny's history for this fic. There's a reason it's Rated M, and it has nothing to do with the romance.
But onto your prompt! It probably would be a one-shot, unless you really wanted to drag out how much Danny practically slaughters them. (Although maybe without the actual killing.)
This is actually very similar to another idea I had where the Justice League travels universes to this other dystopian version of Earth and they find out that an evil version of Danny (not Dan for once!) totally destroyed the world and his versions of the Justice League members, and Danny nearly murders these versions of them only for Batman to literally throw himself at Danny at the very last second and just- gives him this bone-crushing hug that Danny tries to escape at first only to have a breakdown because this is the first time in years that he's been treated humanely and despite all his anger and resentment and hatred, he is still that little, scared fourteen-year-old that was told he was a monster even when he didn't feel like one. :(
So it could go something like that, but with the YJ team instead. Ooh~ Maybe Dick gives him the hug? That sounds in-character for him. And would be a good parallel with Bruce for the JL version.
But other than that, he still goes on rampages. Because... well. There's this scene in the "Batman - The Killing Joke" movie (NOT a fan of the storyline, but this scene always gets me) where the Joker openly admits that there's no saving him. Here's a clip if you want it:
youtube
I think Danny would feel like he's in a similar position during his rampage.
Good, crunchy angst.

Juri Han.
"Juri... That power... That eye... She's no ordinary fighter. She is an untamed animal who seeks to destroy and consume all that enters her sight...She has altered her own body in her insatiable quest for power. She respects no law. No morality. She does whatever it takes to achieve her goals and quench her limitless thirst."
—Seth's description of Juri
Introduced in 2011's Super Street Fighter IV, she was sold as a darker parallel of Chun Li. She's quickly become a favorite of the fanbase, and myself personally. There is something strangely compelling about her and her story. A lot of people don't really care about it so i'll go into it! On my blog!
Tumblr media
While you are familiar with the Juri you see in game, she wasn't always like that. Juri Han was the daughter to a loving mother and father. The latter being a prominent lawyer knee deep into a developing case against shadaloo. M. Bison didn't take this lightly. So one fateful night, he ordered them killed. They took her father, and left both her and her mother for dead. Young Juri lost her eye to the hail of bullets.
Tumblr media
As she recovered, and after her father was executed on live television, she focused her remaining eye on one thing. Revenge against M. Bison. She became much colder and crueler throughout the process. Later in Street Fighter IV, she would join S.I.N, and claim the Feng Shui Engine. A powerful device that amplifies her physical abilities to superhuman levels.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similar to Ryu, Juri seeks battle. But unlike him, she does it for much more selfish reasons. She is extremely sadistic, deriving joy from causing others pain through fighting. She enjoys fighting so much to the point where she is offended when denied it. With a short temper and a questionable mental state, that's not a good thing to be around. She's also very cunning as she is morally grey. She dips in between heroics and villain behavior from time to time. The ying/yang symbol behind the character makes more sense now, no?
Street Fighter V's story actually progressed the story and world to the point where shadaloo falls, with M. Bison's death. Before this, she attempted to fight M. Bison and lost. He even ripped out her eye (Feng Shui Engine) and left her for dead. She survived, and found herself a weaker version of the engine, implanting it herself (ow?). In a Shadow Falls she doesn't really do much. She serves as a side character mostly. Assisting the good guys because it'll bring Bison down. Ryu is the one to eventually defeat M. Bison. Not Juri. You can tell that she's weaker then on due to her abilities appearing grey in 5 and 6.
Tumblr media
In 6, her parallel to Chun Li takes the most importance. Chun Li has found complete peace with Bison's death. She wears brighter colors, took some time off from being a cop and is found teaching her local community. Her peace is reflected in her design and writing. She's made it! Juri? At this point, with nothing to do, she... doesn't do much. She's always on her phone, uses her feet for everything cause she's lazy, and eats a lot of junk food. Without a goal she's been loafing around, causing trouble whenever she gets the chance. It's very sad to see. She's allowed her quest for revenge to consume her completely, and now that Bison is gone, she doesn't have much left.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the end of both of their arcade stories, Chun Li says that she is one of Bison's victims too. This gets through to her, angers her, and the two end up fighting.
At this point in the story, Juri is at another crossroads. It's like we're watching her slowly die from the inside. She has opportunity to turn her life around, and it looks like we're finally on the cusp of that, but she can continue to slip further and further into depravity. It's all up to her (& the writers).
Now that you know this, you can get that all of her cruelty and snarkiness is how she copes with what she truly is within. A mess. The development team for Street Fighter IV wanted to make an evil sexy character that stuck out from the rest and ended up making one of the most compelling & tragic characters i've seen from a fighting game. She's one of my favorites, and i hope to see things look up for her at some point. Whatever that looks like to her.

Chapter 6 Brat boy meets silent Girl
youtube
It's been about a few days Since Elson started living with you. You were Currently giving him a hot bath since the poor thing was cold. He finally finished and you dried him and then gave him a sippy cup full of chamomile tea 🍵.
(Elson) I'm not Tired
(Y/N) Sleep.......Baby
(Elson) I'm not tired
(Y/N) (whispering) Sleepy.....Baby
(Elson) (Sleepy) I'm...Not....a....Ba...by
Elson couldn't finish his sentence and was already asleep in his bed snuggling with the many stuffies you made him. You then put a pacifier in his mouth and quietly leave his room
(Y/N) Good....night.....Baby.....boy.....i....love....you forever.
You had some chores to do and you didn't want Elson to get scared and lonely so you put him down for a Nap. He was being difficult but he eventually gave in. You bottle fed him chamomile tea to help him sleep naturally since he's to week for sleeping pills. Elson healed up quite nicely Since you found him and build up some energy from the healthy meals you gave him and you helped opened up to you though the toys you gave him. He also like cuddles and that what you would do for hours on end.
Your still planning on getting revenge on the people who layed a fearful hand on your precious frozen Baby and you will make sure that they will never do it again. You also got a letter from Jasmir saying how his royal advisors were buffoons and how he had to stuff out yet another rebel group and finally how he misses you and your sweet Kisses 💋 💋. He clearly couldn't wait to get his hands on you if past spicy letters he sent last week didn't make that clear and you couldn't wait. He also gave a something called a Compus and a bejeweled Necklace
Tumblr media
You love him so much. Anyways it's chore day and for dinner you wanted to fry fish maybe a Tilapia. You went by the river down the lane to get fishing fun fact you think using a fishing pole is time consuming so you just dive in to grab what you need. You grabbed some Salmon and some Bass but their's no Tilapia and it was already the afternoon so you decided to try again tomorrow. You were about to leave the river when you turned your head and saw a figure in the water you went and slowly pulled out a knife from your apron and moved to land. That's when the figure leaped out of the water trying to bite you is when you quickly to a stab at it. Then a loud hiss was released into the air and you looked at the figure and saw a boy. He had large pointy ears and sharp fangs with just as sharp claws and short red hair with electric blue eyes glaring into your very soul. He couldn't be any older then 19 as he Clutched his arm to stop the bleeding. He continued to .Growl and hiss as you grabbed him by the back of his neck is when you notice a HUGE green mermaids tail 🧜‍♂️. He tried to bite you again but you payed not mind to it you grab the fish bucket and threw him over you shoulder and March back to you treehouse take the merman with you.
Later that night
(???) Hisss Hisss Hissssssssssss
You find yourself struggling a bit to get a hold of the merman. Elson munched on his fruit snacks as he watch you try to heal the merman. You cut the stupid boys arm to deep and he needs stitches immediately and he won't stop Squirming around. You finally shook him before quickly giving him the stitches closing his wound. The boy was Rightfully confused as his wound was clean and closed. You released him back into the bathtub before leaving. Elson sit quietly and you quickly kissed him
(Y/N) Ba.....by
Elson perked up at you and listened, you then pointed at the other indicating to Elson that you want him to watch the little mer-siren boy. You finally leave to the kitchen. Elson continued to sit quietly until
(???) You human
Elson jumped in surprised he was shocked to hear the mer-boy speak
(???) Where am I? Who was she? What did she do to me?
After hearing his questions Elson finally answered
(Elson) Your in Ice cube Mommy's treehouse
(???) Who???
(Elson) ice cube Mommy she cut you and stitched you back up using string. You shouldn't have tried to attack her.
(???) She is a human she was in my territory she had to die
Elson felt something inside himself snap before grabbing the mer-boy's arm Threatening to freeze it off...
(Elson) (yelling) I should tell you but 🧊 Mommy she could've KILLED you but she didn't she decided to take PITY on a pathetic little cretin like you and if you ever in you potentially short life ever say something like that again. I WILL END YOU MYSELF!!!!!!
This shook the red head as Elson was quiet up until now. He must have struck a nerve or something. Just then you came back into the bathroom
(Y/N) (plainly) loud
(Elson) (whispering) I'm sorry mommy
(Y/N) (darkly) Rules???
(Elson) TreeHouse Rule number 15 no loud noises after 7:00pm
You calmed down and nodded and pointed to the kitchen meaning its time for dinner. Elson quickly got up and speed walked to the dining room not before kissing you face. You then looked at the mer boy before taking him out the tub.
(???) Put me down human do you know who your messing with?!
You glared at the red haired boy before dropping him in the kitty pool you put in the dining room. After words you went to the Drawer and took out two bibs and put them on the boys
(???) What is this thing?!
(Elson) it's a Bib
(???) What is it for?
(Elson) she's gonna feed us
(???) What?!
You took a bowl of food you made a chicken salad and mash potatoes
(Y/N) Choo.......Choo.......Baby.......Boy
Elson Obediently open his mouth as you fed him. The mer-boy's looked on a weirded out by the image in front of him. You then you tried to do the same thing to the red head
(???) Oh know you get away from me you Disgusting freak human girl!
He then smacked the spoon at of you hand knocking over the bowl too. You and Elson looked at the mess two of you felt two things you of course didn't do anything but Elson wanted to break the ungrateful mer boys neck for what he just did. You then spoke
(Y/N) Elson......Baby
Elson looked at you again
(Y/N) BEDTIME🌙
Elson visibly paled even futher then before bolting out of their and into his room as fast as he can. he knew what was going to happen next and he would say he felt bad for the other boy but that's bold face lie.
Meanwhile you yanked the red boy over your lap and put on a timer
(???) Let me go human or I'm gonna
SMACK!
The merman froze as he felt a sudden smack on his bottom. Did that human girl just? he didn't even have time to think as the onslaught continued
SMACK!
SMACK!
SMACK!
SMACK!
SMACK!
The Merman tried to get off your lap but your grip was Inhumanly strong and fuel with your fury, this continued spank him for over an hour until the timer went off. you finally stopped spanking him and took him by the neck to your face, just to see an unusual sight. The mer-boy's face was completely red, he sweating and panting pretty hard not to mention he was drooling a bit. His eye that were crossed regained focuse and he smiled a bit
(???) Why you stop human you must be really mad at me so go ahead continue🤤
Did you just brat Tame a merman?
Yes Yes you Did😳
how shocking 😲
Anyway things obviously change with in the household. The next morning 🌄 Elson woke up to a shocking sight. The red haired boy was Lounging on you lap eating the breakfast you made pancake 🥞bacon 🥓 eggs 🥚 hashbrowns 🥔 and toast 🍞.
(Y/N) Choo..........Choo
(???) Ahhhhhhhhhhhh
The red boy was wearing a Bib as you fed him. Elson was perplexed last night he was being an entitled brat and now he's being a good little boy like what?!
(???) Hehe Thank you Human can I have another?
You nodded as you fed him a Piece of pancake that he happily ate. You then got Tried up to get up but before you did a pair of lips Met yours.
(Both) Mmmmmm❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You had a short Make out session with the merman boy before pulling away so he can kiss you neck.
(Y/N) Elson........Baby....... Come....Eat
Elson still in shock sat a the table where Breakfast was put infront of him. The merman was surprisingly Clingy and quite Touch starved and love to feel and squeeze your hips. He had a deep blush on his face as he did so and you moaned a bit before moving away from him.
(Y/N) Baby
(???) (Moaning) Yes Human girl oh yes I love to be a baby
Elson believe it or not was jealous he thought he was baby. He Denied it a few times but he was just being a tease. He doesn't want to share his attention with the sea man.
(Elson) 🧊 mommy now that the merman is healed and not bleeding anymore shouldn't you take back to the river im sure he would like that.
The merman froze what? It can be were you were you going to take him back? Were you going to leave him were you going to abandoned him?
no no no no No No No No No NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!
I cry was let out. A loud cry of Devastation and desperation was let out.
(???) (Crying) NO YOU CAN'T, YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME YOU CAN'T ABANDON ME I WON'T LET YOU. PLEASE I'LL DO ANYTHING DON'T LEAVE ME BEHIND MOMMY DON'T LEAVE ME ALONE NOT YOU TOO, PLEASE SILENT MOMMY I LOVE YOU!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You heard the merman call out to you and what you saw was not a Ingrate merman with an attitude problem, but a broken little baby boy who was hurt and apparently abandoned and has never recovered from it. With that you made a decision as you spoke.
(Y/N) Who......Are.........You?
(???) I am prince Adrian I'm a mer-siren. I've been looking for you for so long I want to be part of your world 🌎 if you have me
You point to picture the main hall in the Picture was a teen you In a flimsy swim suit sitting on a dead great white shark and a Tilapia fish in you teeth and of course you had a blank blood cover face. Adrian was now more in love then ever with and look at the frame in the corner.
(Adrian) Your (Y/N)?
(Y/N) (Y/N).......(L/N)
Adrian trapped in your web of love and sociopathty kissed you again
Adrian didn't care that he was in danger
Adrian didn't care that he was trapped
Adrian didn't care that he will never go into the water again
But what Adrian did care about was that he now has you and he will never let you go.
Same goes for you too❤️❤️❤️🔪💋
Meanwhile with Elson was furious! how dare this red haired Maniac step into his territory as baby boy. No, he's not about to let that title go and he is not about to share you with him either. He'll make sure of that.
Done Done and Done you have prince Adrian living with you and Elson Ain't Having it when it comes to his title as baby boy. We'll see how that goes. Well please Make some more comments I appreciate the likes but I really want comments and maybe a reblog but that up to you (Pieces!!!!) Chaper 7 up next

My thoughts on the season 1 finale for Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai
Warning!!! There will be spoilers so be sure and watch the show up until the end if you haven't already!
I'm super happy with how season 1 wrapped up but it...definitely wasn't what I was expecting, lets just say that... and I have lots of questions, thoughts, and just random tidbits I really liked so I thought I'd pile them all into one big post (I may make a second one if it gets too long I'll see where my brain goes).
First of all:
Tumblr media
I love that Henchman #2 (or whatever his number was haha I can't remember) showed up at the end with Gaptooth and thought "oh their going to play a really big part in the finale!" and the he just proceeded to go "f*ck this sh*t I'm out" like that one vine of the guy jumping into the water and I can't even with him 🤣
Tumblr media
Claw is a queen, need I say more? I am sad she ended up dying she was my fave (even though I figured she and the others would since that is typical for Gremlins in the movies to all perish by the end). But I can't help but wonder in this scene when she's looking up at Riley and telling her fellow brethren to kill him, if she'll somehow come back in season 2 for revenge? I think it was confirmed by Joe Dante or someone working on the original Gremlins movies that Stripe was essentially "reincarnated" as Mohawk (someone correct me if I'm wrong on this!) so it's definitely possible, Claw might even get reincarnated into Stripe somehow. They gave her such a fun personality I really hope she does return! (same for that one Gremlin that can sing really good I'm curious as to why the creators made her stand out so much).
Tumblr media
Also, I'm glad Snout survived! He doesn't seem too pleased to be a mogwai again but I'm glad he's ok, he's so cute! I do think it's interesting he (and another gremlin I'll mention later) made it, I wonder if the creators have plans for him in season 2...
Tumblr media
(Wow having a knife in your mouth makes you look really cool even if you don't have any hands)
So Riley died??? I put the question marks because yes, he did get turned into a cockroach and cut in half (REALLY rough way to go) but if you go back and watch this scene, do you notice anything strange?
Tumblr media
This mogwai he ate back in episode 8 wasn't with the people he consumed with pearl magic. All the gremlins got turned back into mogwai, but I didn't see this little guy anywhere with them. I was WAY too lazy to grab screenshots of all the mogwai at the end, but if you go back and look I swear I didn't see him anywhere. I bring this up for a couple of reasons. The "fourth rule" is that if you eat a mogwai you live forever right? Well, he never spit this guy back out, so shouldn't he still technically be able to live forever, regardless of what happens to him? And this mogwai looks so different than the others, and has a little tuft of fur with a white stripe on his head. Interesting that this is the mogwai he ended up eating... Wishful thinking I suppose, I'd just really love for him to come back. He was such a good villain!
Tumblr media
I'm glad Grandpa and Nuwa came back! Sam's Grandpa was such a fun character and Gizmo missing Nuwa was making me sad ;-;
Also I love that the Wing family essentially adopted Elle at the end it was really sweet. And it was nice Gizmo got to stay though after all that happened, I'm genuinely shocked Nuwa would let him?? Like yeah I know the show is a prequel and Sam is the old shopkeeper in the first movie, so naturally they'd have to end up together. But still!
Tumblr media
And finally: Yaaaaaay one Gremlin survived! I'm so happy this is essentially the Brain Gremlin from the second movie, he was my favorite character in that one and I'm glad they left him as a cliffhanger for season 2. He's still got a slightly evil side to him but as he explained to Elle, he isn't quite as chaotic as his brothers and sisters are. I wonder what his plans will be for season 2?
That's all folks, may make a follow up post to this one if anything else comes to mind!
