This war has been flipping my schedule upside down, so I completely forgot about my late grandfather's birthday, which was last week, but -

He was born in 1924, and lived in Poland with his family till the war broke out. He lost his parents and got separated from his little brother. He was in Auschwitz, and he survived the death marches. He immigrated to Israel, determined to put as much distance as possible between himself and the memory of the war. He owned a farm near the coast for one short year, and then war broke out again. He fought in it. He spent a year as a POW near Cairo. He came back to his wife. He lost a baby. Then another war broke out. He fought in that one too.

it's absolutely wild to me that this shit, like, never ends. We never get to catch our breaths. Like. What.

Survival Story of a Sword King in a Fantasy World

3/5 stars

I managed to finish the novel version of this and barely remember anything because so much is going on. I had to have a doc of notes in order to follow along with the story. This may be just my case because I read multiple books at once and tend to forget a lot of things.

In terms of the webtoon, I'm up to date. I liked the part where the MC realizes how his actions or mere presence can affect both him and the people who care about him. I didn't necessarily like that he just ran away, but he didn't have many options in the first place. Another aspect I liked was the arks of some of his more long-term companions.

Still, it gets repetitive at times and can cause you to want to drop it. If you don't like manga to be repetitive at times, then I don't recommend it because I don’t believe you can skip the fights because there are important bits of information for the story in between the fighting. I do recommend it if you can stand manga to be repetitive at times and like an isekai that is action-packed and has game-like dynamics.

Movie Review...Society of the Snow

(?/5) This film (the 1993 version) is why I always say this random survival tip....valleys lead to rivers, rivers lead to towns. If you ever get stuck or lost in the mountains always remember that. I can't never really rate films like this in terms of entertainment. Which is why we will have to settle for a question mark. My first introduction to this story of survival was the film Alive (1993) and the feeling afterward is still the same...heavy.

I think one thing this film adds to the telling of this story is the journey down the mountain and the narration of the story. When I tell you, the scene with the river...I started praising God like I was there. This film completely focuses on the survivors of the crash and not the families until the end. I would have liked a little check in with the families showing their perspective because this was much their story too.

Another difference this film had from the previous one was the narration. I couldn't really remember the first film so when the narrators story ended the way it did, my eyes got a little dusty. I definitely would have made decisions like he did in the film and the outcome probably would have been the same in some cases.

Okay, after more than a YEAR since conception, Roommates is finally finished! Uploading starts today, with daily uploads until it's all up.

Roommates is broken up into three parts following a team of adopted brothers as they try to survive a racial war blooming between the species of the Central Realm.
