Hidden Gem Friday
Hey guys! It's time for our second Hidden Gem Friday. If you don't already know the drill, here's how it works. You guys send me fics you like that have less than 2k hits on ao3 or less than 200 notes here on Tumblr, and I read them and put them out as reccs on Fridays. I also like to add in my own reccs, because there's some stuff I've read that just really needs more engagement. I really like doing this, but I have a few asks. If you read these fics, please leave a comment! Comments are the lifeblood of keeping authors invested in writing for a lot of us, and it makes us feel super happy to know people enjoyed the fics. Secondly, if you comment, let the author know where you got it from! I always love to hear I was added to a recc list. Okay Reccs under read more as always. If you want to see the others look at the tag #Hidden Gem Friday
Still So Much To Learn by BonitaBreezy recced by me. @bonitabreezy on here! 4k words (Complete)- Steddie
Summary:
Steve Harrington knows he’s stupid. Everyone has made that very clear to him. But sometimes it hurts to hear, especially from the people you love.
My Thoughts:
Ough you guysssss. Okay so I watched this being written, and I got it in bits and pieces slowly over the course of four(? maybe five) hours. It was so fucking intenseeeeeeee. This fic is really well written, and it deals with one of my favorite headcanons, and I really like that it didn't pull the usual route of 'Eddie is the only one who never calls him stupid'. I love that sm but like this is so much more realistic? These kinds of miscommunications happen allllllll the time, and we do things and say things we don't mean, and I just yeah everyone should read this one!!!!!
Go At Your Own Pace by Cardigains recced by @andrea-csenge 17k words (Complete)- Gen El focused
Summary:
“Write down three things,” Hopper says, ducking his head to catch her eye. “Three things you want to make happen this year, and we’ll do everything in our power to help you. How about that?” or New place, new school, not new but new-together parents—after last year, El is more than happy to let the world pass her by from the safety inside of their home, but her friends and family have different ideas. How they work to prove to El she is not alone and can succeed at anything she sets her mind to.
My Thoughts
This one is really really good. It's canon to season four ending, and I didn't even have time to doubt, because this El is so good. This is an El who is past the traumatic events, but still impacted by them. She feels older but still El? I love it. All of the characters are super realistic, amazing jopper, WONDERTWINS, it's all jsut really well written, and it floooooows god does this flow. It is awesome
uh-oh, love comes to town by 96 tears recced by @daysarestranger 13k words (Complete)- Steddie w side of Robin/Vickie
Summary:
It’s not like Steve thought Eddie would stay single forever, but he figured he’d have a girlfriend by the time Eddie got a boyfriend. So, when Vickie and Robin set Eddie up on a blind date with Vickie’s cousin, Steve figures he feels weird about it because he’s the only one without a date. But an annoying little voice starts telling him maybe there’s more to it than that. He just has to figure out what it is.
My Thoughts:
This one is so fricken sweet!! I love the way Vickie is characterized in this one, we don't see her a lot (except for people saying her and Robin didn't work) but this person took the time to think about it. There's also a good dollop of QPR stobin which I always love, and a badass little granny for Steve, but the main thing here is the awesome Steddie! It's really well written, you an see them doing this complicated little dance around each other and the ending is so so sweet. It's also really funny I laughed at least three times
down on the timeline by annabeeus recced by @silverysnake 6k words (Complete)- Steddie with Ronance and a little Jargyle
Summary:
In a slightly altered universe where the Demogorgon never became more than a D&D character - The Party are semi-famous Youtubers. Steve, one-half of movie commentary channel BLOCKBUSTERS, and Eddie, the leader of D&D channel THE HELLFIRE SOCIETY, can't help but start falling for each other after meeting through a mutual friend.
My thoughts:
I always wanna try to be honest with my thoughts here- I did not think I was going to like this story. The way it was formatted isn't something I'm used to and it threw me off, but I stuck with it and I'm glad I did! It's really funny, and I love the little references thrown in everywhere. You know when you can feel an author probably worked harder on something then they initially planned, and the result is fucking awesome? Yeah that's this fic. It's super cute, it's told in this really unique kind of outsider perspective, and I so so enjoyed it.
i wish i knew how (your eyes are like starlight now) by MacksDramaticShenanigans aka @stevethehairington this one is also a me recc bc it's my list! I can do as I please haha. 10k words (Complete)- Steddie
Summary:
“Mistletoe!” Robin cheers, and Steve’s heart stutters so hard in his chest that he thinks it might crack his ribcage and drop right out the bottom of his stomach. His eyes fly up, and, sure enough, there hangs one of the many sprigs hung all around the apartment. Small and inconspicuous, but unmistakable. That ridiculous little plant has no idea that it’s just turned Steve’s entire world on its axis. Across from him, Eddie’s eyes are trained up too, big and round and wide where they stick on the mistletoe. His lips are parted in surprise, and Steve can’t help but stare and think am I going to kiss those now? When Eddie finally tears his gaze from the plant and lets it flicker down to Steve, a pretty pink dusting blooms across the bridge of his nose and spreads into the apples of his cheeks when he finds Steve already looking back. Steve spares the mistletoe one last quick peek before he takes a deep breath and steels himself. This is it. He sticks his hands on his hips, aiming for casual, and asks, “What do you say, Munson?” Or, Steve makes a promise, Robin likes to meddle, and the spirit of Christmas strikes (out) again. And again. And again. (Until it doesn’t.)
My Thoughts:
Okay I'm going to be frank I may be biased bc I betad this fic, except I'm not because it's so goddman spectacular. I'll start with how funny it is. I reread it today to have it fresh in my mind, and it's hilarious. Secondly the reveal and the moment where Steve thinks Eddie doesn't want him is so quietly heartbreaking, but perfectly written. Characterization is awesome, I watched every iteration of this as it grew and grew into something absolutely magnificent, and I'm so lucky to have gotten to beta for it!!

doing this got me a fic recc last time, so:
Steddie Moulin Rouge AU
Eddie as Satine. Steve as Christian.
Hopper as Ziegler. The party as the bohemians.
If it doesn't instantly smack you in the face with how perfect it is, stop and think about the movie, then allow it to hit you in the face.

Fic Rec Friday
This week's theme: Rec a fic that starts with the same letter as your username (or, if you like, a part of your username) The rules: Tag a fic that starts with the same letter as your username and describe why it's so good / how it has a hold on you. Then tag some people to see what everyone else is reading. Spread the love! Also, she'll do the round up on Sunday, so if you're still recc-ing on Saturday, no pressure! Please tag @welcometololaland or tag #fic rec friday so she can compile the masterlist.
thanks for the tag @cricketnationrise
Check Please
Theatre Building, Dec. 6 by @cricketnationrise; Ford my absolute beloved! She's my favorite! And theatre! And like I'm fully biased because this was my prompt but it's so *chef's kiss*
There Have Been Five Kisses by @cricketnationrise; nurseydex 5+1 kisses, need I say more? nope you've already clicked through
Red, White, and Royal Blue
The Royal Wedding Stylist Breaks Down Prince Henry & Duke Alex Claremont-Diaz's Looks by th0ughts; are you sensing a pattern and the pattern is that I'm a former costumer rolling around in any theatre/costume adjacent fics? You'd be correct. This technically breaks the rule I set for myself of not allowing fics that start with "The" but I love it so much??? Do yourself a favor and read the whole series. Exactly what it says on the tin.
Stranger Things
takes a village by alchemystique; It's Buckingham, it's background Steddie, it's a modern AU, Chrissy has a really cute and precocious 4-year-old, it's all the found family feels, it's a treat
took you for a working boy by pukner; pukner manages to simultaneously write the most profoundly moving and gut-busting hysterical fics. Also anytime anyone says "you can't make that character trans" I read 5 more fics where the author makes a character trans. I'm fueled by spite and you're only making me more powerful.
Good Omens
Take My Hand, Take My Whole Life Too by @thebibliosphere; Have we all read it and loved it already? Don't care, still lovely, and with season 2 of the show coming up, well worth a revisit. Joy has a Pratchettesque style to begin with, which just makes it even better.
Star Wars (sequel trilogy)
Tomorrow (there'll be more of us) by dirmircharmer; someone on here was recently complaining that the movies didn't do enough with Finn defecting and the ways that could have led other Stormtroppers to as well. This fills that gap; also check out all the related fic at the bottom of it for more.
MCU
take it or leave it by kellifer_fic; The year was two thousand and a number I shan't say so I don't have to confront the passage of time. Everything was great, I still had faith in humanity, the MCU had not yet completely shit the bed and absolutely exhausted my patience. This is Clint x Darcy, which is not everyone's cup of tea, but mostly it's a very funny story about superheros attempting to lay low as normal people and mostly being pretty bad at it.
i'm tagging: @vhenadahls @appalamutte @starthecozy @dancemakestheworldgoround @zimmerdouche

Hi 🤗 6, 8, & 23 for the fic ask game if you like!
Hiiiiii !! Welcome welcome, nice to have you here take a seat 🍄🫖✨
6. Are there any fics from others you reread all the time?
I’m not a big rereader/watcher or anything, so I don’t reread toooo many fics unless I forgot what happened, but I’ll share these two fics I’ve read recently that I’ve really enjoyed (I have also been pretty busy last two weeks so not as many reccs)
Anyway, It’s About Old Friends - @fragilecapric0rnn a steddie when Harry met Sally AU I adore! Great take on the story and feels very in line with WHMS as well as being it’s own thing
this text fic - I’m not a big kid fic person but this is SO cute and made me a believer even if just for a day
8. What projects) are you currently working on?
URGH so the active WIPs technically total 11/12 (this means ideas I have at least a few paragraphs for) but if we’re just going off of things I’m thinking about and generally working towards daily—4
beanie baby fic - my beloved <3 Steve dealing with the loss of his mom through a growing obsession with beanie babies. It started as a fun crack idea and then the angst and the grief spilled through and now I’m here sobbing over nip the cat listening to ‘should’ve known better’ by sufjan stevens
your name - part two of the Nancy xfiles series, following Nancy and robin on a case to find someone breaking into secure FBI sites and stealing information. very dusty roads and cracked skin, an empty diner in the desert and the strange version of yourself looking back through the rear view mirror vibes
comphet nancy - she is my manifesto and also my biggest struggle. 90s nancy moves to Chicago to be with her friends and ends up falling head over heels for soft butch robin, and also figuring out she’s a lesbian, in that order. “What about Steve and Jonathan” right well going for the most popular conventionally attractive boy and then immediately jumping to the one you have a trauma bond with -> gay. The fic deals with the toxic cycle that comes with not knowing what you want, and trying very hard to fill that void. very ‘women are people with hearts and minds…but god I’m so lonely’ and ‘hunger’ by F+TM and pretty much any mitski song ever (but especially nobody & love me more)
radio host!eddie - the latest work! This is technically still in the planning phase, or just about to exit it—basically community college au with frenemies to FWB to lovers steddie, with emo metal head loser radio host Eddie and Mariah Carey diehard lost in life and love Steve ( @fragilecapric0rnn instrumental in developing his musical sensibilities). Its got some sleepless in Seattle vibes, it’s got some Community vibes (six seasons and a MOVIE!), it’s got some classic romcom angst vibes. It’s gonna be a multichap fic (11chapter rn?) and I am soooo excited about it, especially the chapter around ‘sugar we’re going down’ by fob which is partly what helped develop the fic into what it is (by that I mean long as fuck) special thanks to @kkpwnall who endured every flipflopping version and will probably endure more
23. How do you choose where to end a chapter (if you have multi-chapter works)?
At the moment I don’t really have a specific plan as to when I end a chapter, I just do what feels right, gut instinct. Technically every chapter should have its own arc, and together they create the overarching arc of the story, so I’m probably just following that even if I’m not actively thinking about it during the planning process! Though I will say I’ve only got one multichap work published (mail murder I’m coming back to you…one day) and others planned so, check back in a few months and see what I say then kekeke

Wayne Munson was working most of Christmas. The plant paid double on Christmas day and, not being a religious family, Eddie had explained they tended to move their actual festive celebrations around based on Wayne's shifts. He visited Wayne regularly throughout the year anyway, so as long as they saw each other for a few hours on Christmas Day, that was good enough for them.
Still, when Wayne mentioned he had a couple hours window on the day itself, Steve, being the good friend he was, agreed to join Eddie in a visit to his Uncle's trailer.
Wayne had welcomed them both with big hugs, squeezing Eddie so tight Steve was a little concerned he was going to break his ribs and they'd settled all three on the couch, Celtic vs Bulls Christmas game playing on the TV. At halftime, Wayne had got up to make coffee as Eddie went out to the car to grab the gifts they'd brought, returning with a flourish and a ta da.
Wayne gave Eddie a new Metallica shirt and a necklace, a dragon's claw holding a red orb on a black string. He put it on immediately, handing over his gift for Wayne, a fleeced checkered shirt for the winter. Wayne handed Steve a present too, a small box containing a metal keychain with the Indiana Hoosiers basketball team logo on. "I didn't know what to get you, but Eddie's always complaining about you watching the sports on TV so I figured it was a good bet."
Steve pulled him into another hug, "It's perfect. Thank you."
Eddie grinned at the two of them, then reached into his pocket to pull out a cigarette. Holding it between his teeth, he fumbled about for a lighter.
Wayne spoke. "No smoking in the trailer. I'm tryn'a quit."
"No shit. Good for you," Eddie replied, turning to Steve and waving the cigarette at him, eyebrows raised.
Steve shook his head. He was trying to cut down too, although being around Eddie all the time wasn't helping. Eddie shrugged and headed outside, perched on the metal steps, he pushed the door closed behind him.
Wayne turned to Steve, signaled him to follow him further into the trailer. He coughed. "How's he doing?" He nodded towards the door.
Steve smiled. What he wouldn't give to have a parent like Wayne in his life. Someone who actually cared about him. "He's good."
"He eating well? Looking after himself."
"We have a rota. Nancy keeps us well fed. We eat vegetables and everything."
Wayne chucked softly. Looking over at the door again, he spoke quietly, not meeting Steve's eye, "And you boys are being careful, if you catch my drift. I know they've got these new drugs an' all, but they're still dropping like flies. I don't want you boys caught up in that. You're, what do they call it, monogamous? And if not, you're being safe?"
Steve took a moment to work out what he was talking about. Oh. He ran his fingers through his hair, found himself nodding.
Wayne continued, "Don't look so surprised. I know he's that way inclined, you didn't have to sit next to him the first time we watched Magnum PI on the TV. The color his face went will stick with me for the rest of my life." He chuckled, "That's his choice to tell me. If and when he's ready. But I can see the way he looks at you. That boy's in love. Tom Selleck levels of infatuation, and I can see the way you look at him too."
He reached out a hand and patted Steve on the shoulder, "You're family now, so I'm gonna worry about the two of you. Okay?"
Steve didn't correct him, didn't feel the distinction was all that important.

obliterations everywhere (we blaze with scorching heat) Pairing: Steddie (Stranger Things)
It was girls, it had always been girls.
But then there was Steve. Steve, who stared at his lips while he spoke, who flinched like he'd been burnt when Eddie leaned into his space and whose heroism put him to shame again and again. Who made him want to be a better man. To stop running. To be worthy. To fight.
Steve was something else.
Oh shit.
-------
Eddie isn’t gay but lots of people make that assumption. Maybe they know something that he doesn't, because he's damned if he doesn't enjoy flirting with Steve Harrington.
Steve was pretty confident in his sexuality. He liked women. A lot. And sometimes, on the odd occasion, he liked men too. He'd decided that didn't have to mean anything though. Then he met Eddie Munson.
OR
Eddie can have a little sexuality crisis too, as a treat.

When he is seventeen Steve Harrington sees Eddie ‘The Freak’ Munson pushed up against the side of the late night convenience store with his hands down another guy’s pants. Unable to stop thinking about it afterwards, it takes him ten years to work out what that means.
After his friends come out one by one, Steve settles comfortably into his new role as an ally. He moves to the city, joins groups, attends protests, even attends a gender studies class alongside Robin. Then in 1991 Eddie comes crashing back into his life.

in the back of your girlfriend's car- Part 6/6 Pairing: Steddie (Stranger Things)
The first thing Eddie noticed when he came round were flashing lights. An ambulance. No, street lamps. He was in a car and it was moving. His head was resting on someone's shoulder, a warm arm around him. He concentrated on focusing his eyes. Woah, serious deja vu.
There was nobody in the passenger seat, which was different from last time. His eyes flitted over to the driver's side. Wayne. Oh shit. Okay, so the arm around him, the person stroking his hair with all the care and love in the world.
"Steve!" He mumbled, leaning back into Steve's shoulder and pulling his arm closer. Fuck it, if this was deja vu, he was going with it, "My hero."
Wayne grunted from the front seat, focused on the road ahead. Eddie felt a stinging pain just to the left of his temple, he reached up and touched it gently, oh, blood, great. He dropped his hand again, focusing instead on the gentle hum of the car, of the calm he felt being held. It was comfortable in Steve's arms, it felt like home, like Eddie belonged there.
"I guess I owe you another apology," he was definitely a lot clearer headed this time, the grogginess he was feeling likely down to the amount of alcohol in his system, not the cut on his head.
Steve squeezed his side gently, "We can talk about that tomorrow, for now, you're safe and that's all that matters."
"Wayne?" Eddie asked towards the front seat.
"Same here, kiddo, consequences tomorrow. Tonight we look after you."
"Eddie," Steve propped Eddie upright and leaned forward, looking him dead in the eyes, as he had done all those months before. Eddie recognised it this time, watched Steve's finger as he moved it from side to side checking for a concussion. They were still close and his eyes flicked down to Steve's lips for a moment. Eddie whispered, "The first time you did this, I thought you were going to kiss me."
Steve leaned back, apparently satisfied that Eddie was not suffering from a concussion this time. "I know," he whispered back, "You weren't subtle back then either." Eddie sighed, feeling nothing but tiredness in that moment, he laid his head back on Steve's shoulder and cuddled into the other man's side. Steve squeezed him tightly, like he was never going to let him go again.
They arrived back at the trailer park, both Wayne and Steve taking an arm to help Eddie out of the car. Eddie stumbled along with them, exhaustion making every bone in his body hurt. His head was starting to pound now. They got him into his bedroom and Wayne left to get the first aid kit. He returned, gently sitting on the edge of the bed as he dabbed away the blood and placed a steri-strip over the wound on his head and another over his nose. When Wayne was done, he helped Eddie out of his jeans and changed his t-shirt to a sleep shirt, pulling the covers over him, like he was a little kid again. Steve sat on the chair in the corner, he legs up on the desk. Wayne squeezed Steve's shoulder as he left the room.
As Eddie felt himself dozing off, he muttered, "You don't need to babysit me Harrington. I'm a big boy now."
Steve scoffed, "Just get some sleep, we'll talk in the morning."
Eddie turned over and fell straight asleep.
After the Upside Down, Steve chose Nancy, chose normalcy and a return to the easy life. Meanwhile Eddie is trying anything just to feel alive.
Then Steve suggests something that may change everything.

in the back of your girlfriend's car- Part 5/6 Pairing: Steddie (Stranger Things)
They returned to the apartment late. Nancy's roommates had offered the use of their bedroom to Robin and Vickie, under the strict instruction that nobody brought any boys back there. Eddie was sure that instruction was going to be followed, but maybe not with the consequences Nancy's roommates had intended, as Vickie and Robin chased each other into the room as soon as they entered the apartment.
Steve was staying with Nancy in her room whilst Eddie took the couch. Steve leaned against the wall next to Nancy’s room as she grabbed the bedding back out of the linen closet for Eddie. He changed in the bathroom, swapping his jeans and jacket out for some comfy sweats and a gray t-shirt for sleeping in. Returning to the living room, he settled on the couch, which Nancy had made up as a bed.
Steve stood in place as Nancy passed him to enter the bedroom. She squeezed his hand, pulling the door to behind her. He faltered for a moment before striding purposefully across the apartment to the couch, climbing on top of Eddie and pulling him into a passionate kiss. He curled his fingers into Eddie's hair, pulling the air from his lungs as he moved his jaw around the curves of Eddie's mouth. After a moment of shock, Eddie kissed back, pulling Steve into him, hands exploring his back. Then as suddenly as he was there he was gone, winking at Eddie as he followed Nancy into her room, closing the door behind him.
After the Upside Down, Steve chose Nancy, chose normalcy and a return to the easy life. Meanwhile Eddie is trying anything just to feel alive.
Then Steve suggests something that may change everything.

What Happens at Comic Con Stays At Comic Con - Part 6/9 Pairing: Steddie (Stranger Things)
Eddie looked at him, his dark brown eyes so full under the mask. He leaned forward as if to kiss him but stopped short, bumping their noses together before resting his forehead on Steve's shoulder. "Jesus, I need a smoke."
They walked up a flight of stairs to a mezzanine level, an area filled with arcade games. Eddie held two cigarettes in his mouth, lighting them both and handing one to Steve before he fished around in his pocket for a quarter, putting it into a game of Ms Pacman, the only one without a queue beside it. He took off the mask, hooking it round his wrist like a bracelet.
The music had kicked back in as people filled the dance floor below. Steve leaned against the machine, cigarette between his fingers as he watched Eddie punch at the buttons. He was good at this game, they’d spent enough time in the arcade by Family Video together for Steve to know that. He’d often meet Eddie there after work, spending a little time watching him finish trying to beat the high score before they’d head out for food or to go back to Eddie’s to get high. He hoped they’d still do that when they returned to Hawkins, he couldn’t bear to lose that.
“God damn it,” Eddie’s fist pounded the console as the familiar Game Over noise came out of the tinny speakers. His cigarette was hanging from the side of his mouth, barely smoked. He tapped it against the side of the machine before taking a drag and adding another quarter.
Steve looked down at the dancefloor as Rock the Casbah came to an end and another song started. He recognized it as the theme song from that movie where the nerd from The Breakfast Club and his friend made that Kelly LeBrock robot. The floor was full of people dancing, most of them in costume, some not. There were a lot of people grinding up against each other, some making out, dragging each other off the dancefloor and into dark corners.
Eddie was focused on the game, but there was something else. Something Steve couldn’t figure out. He seemed kind of angry, not at Steve, more like a kid kicking out at the world. Steve wanted to fix it. Wanted to make it better. The noise of Game Over again, and Eddie’s search for another quarter being fruitless, he looked at Steve.
You gotta do more than that to woo a guy. He could do that. He knew how to do that. Their cigarettes long since burnt out, Steve pushed himself off the machine and held out his hand. Eddie looked around him, unsure, before he took it.
Then Steve led him down onto the dancefloor.
Wrapping one arm around Eddie's waist, they started to dance. They were right in the middle of the dancefloor but as Steve looked around, no-one was paying attention, all just focusing on the music, the joy of the moment. The track changed to a Billy Idol song and Steve stepped away, mouthing along to the words he spun on the spot and swung his arms around to the beat. When there's nothing to lose and there's nothing to prove, I'm dancing with myself. Eddie laughed, pushing at his chest as they danced in rhythm.
As the track ended and another started, Steve moved forward, returning his arm to Eddie’s waist and pulling him in, allowing the music to thrum through his body. Eddie didn't have the best rhythm but his hips were moving along with Steve's, gyrating close enough to be really hot. There was still a little distance between them that Steve desperately wanted to close, he moved his other arm around Eddie's waist and pulled them chest to chest. Eddie's eyes opened wide but in response, he moved his arms around Steve's shoulders, like they were at a middle school dance.
Steve looked around the room again, the adrenaline from the night tinged with a little fear. But really nobody cared.
So he closed the distance between them and kissed him. Eddie's eyes fluttered shut, his arms still hanging heavy on Steve's shoulders, stabilizing and real. The heel on his boots was giving Steve a slight height advantage, as he moved one hand from Eddie's waist and up to cup his cheek, shifting his chin upwards with his thumb to deepen the kiss. God, it felt electric. The warmth of the club, the music dumbing down his other senses, the adrenaline pulsing through his body, he was sure Eddie would be able to feel him shaking.
Slowly, Eddie pulled away, his eyes shocked and a little glassy. He seemed to realize where they were and his head shot around in a panic, surveying the room. But Steve was right, nobody had cared. There may have been a couple more people looking at them now, but there wasn't malice on their faces. Some a little surprised, some smiling, most just getting on with what they were doing.
Steve felt Eddie breathe out in relief as he returned his gaze, stretching upwards to plant a soft kiss on the side of his mouth where it met his cheek. Then, in a very un-Eddie move, he rested his head against Steve's chest where they swayed to the music, which hadn't slowed down and was now playing an uptempo Madonna song, an incongruence Steve chose to ignore as he leant his head on Eddie's. Middle school indeed.
Steve agrees to take the kids to comic con. Eddie tags along. Feelings happen.
Steve and Eddie hook up during a weekend away but will they work out what they actually want before they have to head home?
Expect nerdy references, lots of flirting, plenty of pining, dorky Steve, fun tropes (trapped in a stairwell! couples costumes! road trip! sharing a bed!) and a wee bit of light angst.

What Happens at Comic Con Stays At Comic Con - Part 1/9 (COMPLETE)
Pairing: Steddie (Stranger Things)
The Summer of 87 was stifling and the whole gang had gotten into the habit of spending every weekend in the water at the quarry. The kids would spend their days splashing about in the water whilst most of the older teens lay on the shore topping up their tans. Eddie - of course - spent most of his time in the water trying to drown the kids, giving them piggyback rides or floating on his back, his hair creating a huge halo around his head.
It had reached the end of another long day and Steve was propped up on his elbows, lying on a beach towel alongside Robin whilst Nancy, Jonathan and Eddie were packing the cooler and leftover snacks into the back of Nancy's station wagon. The younger girls were sitting a little away, El reaching out her hand whilst Max's hair twisted itself into a braid.
Steve watched the four boys huddled in a circle, arms linked, talking amongst themselves. There was a tussle between them before Lucas pushed Dustin out of the circle towards Steve. He saw Mike point at him, gesturing for Dustin to move forward.
Dustin walked over and crouched down next to Steve. He didn't make eye contact, just started talking, "So, the guys have been talking and we were wondering if you'd come to Comic Con with us. It's in Chicago”. He spoke fast, without taking a breath, "I know it's nerdy and you're too cool for this stuff, but we need someone who can drive and we wouldn't be able to get a hotel room without an adult present anyway and there's going to be a Star Wars panel, and you like Star Wars. So maybe you'll drive us there, and it could be fun, y'know? We don’t want to go with Mike’s dad, he’s got all these rules and stupid early curfews and he sleeps in so we’d miss all the morning panels and it’d just be so much more fun with you." He finally took a breath, making eye contact with Steve for the first time.
"Can Eddie come?"
"Wait, what?"
"Can Eddie come too?"
"Uh, shit yeah."
"Hey, Eddie," Steve yelled across the quarry to the other man, "Wanna go to," he paused, asking Dustin, "What is it again?"
Dustin rolled his eyes, "Comic. Con," he counted the two words on his fingers.
Steve continued yelling, "Comic Con in Chicago".
"Technically Rosemont, but yeah", Dustin added.
Eddie yelled back, "When is it?" Steve looked up at Dustin, "When is it?" Dustin shook his head in disbelief, "Last weekend of November."
"November," Steve yelled. Eddie thought for a moment and gave him a double thumbs up.
Steve turned back to Dustin, "I'm in." Dustin returned back to the group, dazed at how easy that had been.
Robin leaned in to Steve, nudged him with her shoulder and spoke with a low voice, “You’re literally transparent, you know that, right?”
“I have no idea what you are talking about,” he lied.

What Happens at Comic Con Stays At Comic Con - Part 5/9 Pairing: Steddie (Stranger Things)
Steve woke up to find Eddie tangled over him. He shifted slightly to look at the clock on the side, nearly nine o'clock. Eddie lightly moaned at the movement, shifting closer into Steve's space, pushing his leg further over Steve's hips. Steve lay for a moment considering, before doing the gentlemanly thing and angling his hips away. Eddie moaned again, his eyes slowly opening and blinked into the proximity. Eddie's eyes scanned his own.
"Morning," he said, his voice still heavy with sleep.
"Morning," Steve whispered back, trying not to move.
Eddie reached out, slowly brushed a stray hair from Steve's face, tucking it behind his ear. Steve held his breath as they lay there, looking at each other.
Then Eddie leaned in and kissed him.

obliterations everywhere (we blaze with scorching heat) - Part 5/5 Pairing: Steddie (Stranger Things)
Steve pushed his way into the trailer, leaving Eddie standing still holding the open door. He looked around, as if checking for visitors. "No Wayne? No Hellfire?"
Eddie shook his head, terrified that if he spoke he'd ruin it.
"Good". Steve took two strides back towards Eddie, pushing the door closed behind him. Then he placed both his hands either side of Eddie's face and kissed him.
Oh.
-------
Eddie isn’t gay but lots of people make that assumption.
