Tamaas (eventually Tamara)
Addressed as: Madam* (she/her)
Age: 23
Height: 5’4”
Occupation:
Main Skills: Shadowy, Watchful
Prominent Quirks: Melancholy
Closest to: The Urchins
*it's a form of address that feels strange compared to its Varchaasi equivalent, but she no longer has any claim to that title.
Backstory below the cut:
She never questioned her life, much like she never questioned her love for Mihir and her native Varchas. One rarely has to when all is well and life is easy.
She doesn’t understand why her brother did not share this contentedness. Fraternal twins, they were ever-close, sharing everything, but his interest in the Jewel-Turbaned Youth and his fanciful club was something that she simply could not get her mind around. The rest of the family paid it no mind—they’re harmless anyway. Let him have his fun.
She doesn’t know what it was that stopped her from retiring to bed that one fateful evening, a nagging in the back of her head that something was off. When she stepped back out into the yellow evening lamplight, a familiar shape slipping down the streets confirmed her intuition. Her brother made it as far as the Mirrored Gate before she clamped her hand around his wrist. Was he mirror-mad? What could he possibly be thinking? Who would want to leave the light, and to set sail on a steamer with a Tamaas captain he’d only met that morning? She’d argued with him, begging him to see sense, until they were both shouting. Deep in their quarrel, she’d barely noticed the shape in the mirror pressed up against his back until it was too late. It struck and he screamed, jerking to the side. Hand still latched around his arm, she slipped in turn, down the slope beyond the gate and both of their lives ended in an instant.
She’d later piece together what had happened from The Sympathetic Captain, most of her memories a blur, and Mihir knows, she’d had enough time on that ship to play her retelling back in her head in endless combinations. Before her brother had even met the ground, before his head had hit stone and his heart had stopped beating, he was Tamaas. As was she, not a fraction of a second later. The Captain had heard the commotion and was not far from the bottom of the cliff. She had insisted that the Captain take them both, that no one in the city would help them anymore. She had to get him to the next port where he could recover.
How his body had disappeared a day later, on a ship miles from the coast, was not one the Captain could answer, no matter how much she raged, how many objects in the cabin she smashed in her fugue. The Captain could only offer a sympathetic ear and a cup of tea.
When the ship finally docked in London she disappeared into the darkness, too ashamed of her grief to say goodbye. Her life was over, but somehow she would have to keep living, Tamaas or otherwise.

emperor!sukuna x imperial concubine!reader
Tumblr media
a/n: part 2 of my self-indulging mess. I had a lot of fun writing him and his drabble got finished way before I developed the whole plotline for Geto lol. I'll try to complete Gojo today or tomorrow and Toji is in the works yaaay!!
Also, I'm so surprised my Geto drabble got so many notes in such a short time!! I wouldn't expected people to be remotely interested in my writing but now I'm getting confident.
And finally, I can guarantee that this reader is gender neutral.
Likes and reblogs are appreciated <33
wc: 674, I know, I know, Geto got the princess treatment from me but sometimes less is more <333
cw: historical AU, scheming, mentions of pregnancy, mentions of sudden infant death syndrome, betrayal, accusations of abortion, execution, nudity, mentions of poisoning, suggestive
credits: i used a colored manga panel instead of a fanart but I have no idea who did the coloring so feel free to help me credit their work. And again, my precious @notveryrussian did the proofread, luv ya mwah <33
MDNI PLEASE! I'm gonna find you and kick you in the butt if you do. If you’re not comfortable with dark content or anything mentioned in the warnings just scroll, there's nothing wrong with that.
His mandate of heaven is very different from Gojo and Geto. Sukuna is a ruthless tyrant, he enjoys crushing any nation he deems either threatening or undeserving to even exist next to his borders. His palace is a snake pit, full of betrayal and backstabbing. Executions are frequent and he needs no valid reason to sentence someone to death, he enjoys the bloodshed and the sight of lifeless bodies. You can’t survive that place acting kind and humble. Sukuna specifically torments his concubines physically and mentally for the sheer enjoyment of it.
His court is probably the most competitive. You need to be as ruthless as he is, you need to become a schemer. One of his high-ranking consorts takes you under her wing. She lets you spend leisure time with her, and somehow, she ends up telling you way more sensitive information than she should. She once managed to give him a child, but the infant sadly died days after they were born. She complained about how hard that pregnancy was and that she’s afraid of going through it again, even though she’s attached to him. And not long after this conversation, she fell ill. Retching out everything she ate, her stomach burned and ached. She was so weak her cycle was two weeks late. She trusted you enough to have you fetch her a specific herbal tea to ease her pain and grant her some dreamless sleep.
And that’s the moment you decide you’ll use everything you know about her to cast her down and take her place.
You accuse her that she’s pregnant but wants to abort her baby. Your story is so intricately constructed from all the details you knew that his officials are on your side without hesitation. She watches you horrified, desperately telling him that nothing could be so far from the truth. Sukuna decides to believe in your words and orders for the consort to be executed. Finding pure joy in how she wails and begs for forgiveness. At the execution, he studies your face, every little detail and reaction and you were aware of that. It’s time to impress him. Your face is still, you don’t even flinch when her head is severed by the neck. The eunuchs come for you at night.
He loves and loathes this tradition at the same time. The servants want to protect him, so they deliver you stark naked to ensure you won’t carry any weapons. Fools, as if a weak and trembling creature like you could ever hurt him with a mere dagger or a sharpened hairpin. Yet it makes you look like an offering. A sacrificial lamb. Maybe because you are.
Some primal instinct tells you to balance your inner strength and innate fear of him. Pull back your shoulders, straighten your back, don’t even think to conceal your private parts. Let your fingers quiver and the sheer dread in your eyes seep through. He mocks you. Almost laughs at you while sitting comfortably on the intricately carved shelf bed, wearing a loose bright yellow robe, leaving almost nothing to the imagination. There’s no reason for him to not do this though, he’s a god, the son of heaven, therefore, everything about him is perfect.
The first thing he asks you is if you’re satisfied with your pathetic attempt to improve your position. You don’t dare to tell him that you feel the guilt rotting your insides. He confesses that he was poisoning her meals, he wanted to watch her wither away slowly and enjoy her suffering, but you ruined his plans. He might spare you, you’re a stupid little thing, you couldn’t have known. He warns you that you need to do so much more if you want to be on his good side. You need to be absolutely despicable to earn his praise. Though you feel content having reached your goal and getting to spend a night with him, somewhere deep down you hope you can leave his chamber in one piece or, at least, alive.

TMBS Fairytale AU Show Version
Based on this lovely post by @cronch-goes-the-weasel and this awesome post by @sophieswundergarten and also this post that was one of the first posts I've ever made because for some reason I really liked the idea of SQ as a Disney Prince and thought the world should know about it, so much so, that I decided to get a tumblr just so I could tell people.
Warning: The content of this AU is long and insane. Reader discretion is advised.
Premise: As I have developed this story, some characters have no magic powers, some have magic powers that they have to study to learn how to use, and others have naturally occurring magic powers, to various degrees. Just roll with it, my brain is excited, but exhausted. Here we go.
Nicholas and Nathaniel are two poor orphan boys that grow up in a local orphanage, with no knowledge of where they came from. The boys both love studying magic and try to get their hands on any spell books they can find. Nicholas is adopted by a fairly well off family while Nathaniel is left behind.
Flash forward to years later, and Nathaniel has become an evil wizard who has taken over the world and declared himself king. He has a special school and is currently recruiting the most powerful magical or otherwise talented children to go through lifelong training to serve on his court and be his knights. His brother Nicholas, a kind-hearted and humble, but scattered brain wizard is the only one who can stop him.
The players in the story:
The Bad Guys:
Nathaniel/Curtain: Evil Wizard King. It's exactly what it sounds like.
Garrison: Chief member of Curtain's court (his right hand woman), and expert in all types of magic. She often advises Curtain against using dangerous magic, but he rarely listens. If we want to bring mythical creatures into this, I could see her being part fairy (more specifically an evil or outcast fairy).
Jeffers: Head of Curtain's current army (the greys). He can't use magic, but likes to think that he might be able to one day and attempts to do so often (it never works).
Jackson and Jillson: Curtain's jesters. They entertain him by doing little songs, dances, and puppet shows for the court, which Nathaniel Benedict, professional theater kid, appreciates. If we want to bring mythical creatures into this, they can be elves/part elf or some sort of quirky woodland creatures).
SQ: Prince and heir to the evil throne. His father teaches him magic (but not too much) and rarely lets SQ go outside or leave and explore certain parts of the castle. He spends most of his time painting and talking to wild animals in the gardens.
Martina: one of the best students Curtain has recruited and on track to become a knight and the head of his army.
The Good Guys:
Nicholas: a self-taught wizard/magic user who refuses to use dark or evil magic
Number Two: Wanted to be a knight ever since she was a little girl. She trained for years, and eventually became a knight that specializes in axe throwing.
Rhonda: a self-taught apothecary and healer that specializes in healing magic.
Milligan: man who was taken in by the team when he showed up on their doorstep with no memory. He has the sigil of what he believes to be Curtain's kingdom's symbol tattooed on his wrist and worries that this means he might have been a bad person once. Later, he has flashbacks of living and working in a palace with other higher ups, including Curtain, and fears the worst.
Reynie: An orphan boy who is ostracized by the others for being able to study magic. He answers Nicholas' advertisement hoping to gain the ability to study and develop his ability.
Miss. Perumal: Reynie's magic tutor who teaches him how to use his powers. She has some abilities herself, and if we want to bring mythical creatures into this, I could see her being part fairy.
Sticky: the high achieving son of deceased nobles who is under tremendous pressure to inherit his family's land and manage the family estate as his mother and father once did. He'd prefer to use his gift of intellect to study and help others, but his extended family insists that this is his destiny and he must spend his time learning things like manners and the ways of high society so he's ready when he comes of age. Sticky, feeling trapped and under pressure, sees Nicholas' advertisement, and runs away to answer it.
Kate: her main backstory doesn't have to change. She is a performer that goes from village to village in a traveling circus. She believes that she was abandoned by her father, who she recalls used to be some sort of knight. Eventually, she begins to long for more than circus life, and dreams of becoming a knight herself (but a good one. Not a bad one like the father who left her). She sees Nicholas' advertisement and decides to answer it.
Constance: She's extremely gifted in magic without ever having studied it, but she has no idea why. She can't remember much of her past and has been kicked out of orphanage after orphanage for things like accidently enchanting her bully's desk to be filled with bugs (Constance did not always mean to do this, but her emotions tend to manifest into real world events). Desperate to understand herself, she too answers the advertisement.
Now for the drama of it all. Nicholas discovers that the dark wizard that has cursed the land and declared himself king is in fact Nathaniel his brother. Meanwhile, the children have infiltrated Curtain's school and discover that Curtain plans to tighten his grip on the world by casting a final dark spell that will recruit all lords and ladies (the noble class, people with money, land, and influence), magic users, and knights to his side or otherwise will curse all who resist and leave them poor, alone, destitute, and without their memories or powers. However, Curtain has been struggling to get the spell to work and discovers that certain types of ancient magic can only be translated or understood by children (Nobody knows why. And I haven't thought that far ahead. Potential future twist maybe? But it explains why Curtain needs the kids).
Anyway, Curtain sees that Reynie seems to have a gift for magic and Sticky is quite knowledgeable when it comes to reading ancient texts. So he gives the boys an opportunity to study under him personally. At first, he identifies with Reynie as an misunderstood orphaned magic user and dismisses Sticky because he can tell by his manners and his knowledge of high society that he comes from money (like those rich snobs who adopted Nicholas). But eventually, Curtain realizes that Reynie is too hesitant to use dark magic (if you're hesitant to use it, it doesn't work as well), so he focuses on training Sticky as his apprentice, telling Sticky that he simply wants to learn more about the land's dark history so as not to repeat the mistakes of the past. His goal is to get Sticky to decipher the codes and spells for him, and then Curtain can hopefully use his own magic to cast the spell, or if he must convince another child to do so, find one that is powerful enough and willing to cast the spell. Curtain also casts his own spells that give Sticky good feelings and make him want to comply. While under the influence of the magic, Sticky figures since he's just really intelligent, but doesn't use magic himself, then what's the worst that could happen if he helps Curtain translate a few things? After all, working with him will enable him to get more information about his plans.
Meanwhile, Martina and Kate are training as knights and develop a rivalry that turns to unlikely friendship that is torn asunder when Martina realizes Kate has been a spy. Constance has been doing her best to hide her powers ever since the children realize Curtain is looking for powerful children for his work. However, since she isn't good at tests like Sticky or the training to be a knight like Kate, she is placed under the care of Jackson and Jillson (who find her to be a delightful small child) in order to train to be an entertainer and court jester. Constance hates every minute of this, and lessons include juggling, puppeteering, and joke telling. Sometimes her powers do activate and cause chaos, but Jackson and Jillson believe this is part of the performance and a testament to her talent. SQ, fed up with palace life and ready to enter his Disney Princess™️ era, sneaks into the part of the palace his father has reserved for his school and pretends to be a regular student. While there he befriends Reynie and eventually learns of his father's true plans, but Reynie still never learns that SQ is the king's son (indeed, most people are only vaguely aware Curtain even has a son, and most imagine him to be this super powerful and intimidating guy).
The main conflict (basically season 1): There is a final fight between the children and Curtain where Constance reveals her powers. Curtain sees an opportunity to use her for his spell, but she overpowers him. Martina and Kate duel and Kate wins, offering Martina a chance to come with them, but Martina angrily refuses, humiliated to have been defeated, and calls Kate a coward for not finishing her off. Kate replies that that's not who she is, and she doesn't believe that's who Martina is either. Martina says that Kate doesn't know her.
Nicholas shows up at the palace to confront Curtain, who is still angry about what happened between them and claims that putting the world under his order is what is best. Nicholas is shocked that his brother has done this, because Nathaniel never used dark magic when they were kids, both of them believing it was dangerous and evil. Nicholas asks his brother what changed, and Curtain tells him that he grew up and realized that the "power of love" and "good magic" can't solve everything and that some people need to make necessary sacrifices. Nicholas seems heartbroken, and Curtain, in a strange moment of sentimentality, offers Nicholas a chance to join him in exchange for forgiving his friends and family of their transgressions against him. Nicholas refuses, and Reynie and Sticky succeed in undoing some of the dark spells Curtain has cast over the world. Realizing he is losing his control, Curtain responds by casting a simple sleeping spell on Nicholas and escaping with his followers (all other bad guy characters mentioned). Everything plays out much like it does in the show, with Kate and Milligan realizing that they are father and daughter.
Now season 2. Curtain kidnaps Nicholas and brainwashes him to join him and help promote his rule, claiming that Curtain's magic and his rule are good things. The others try to save him. Meanwhile, Martina begins to have doubts about their mission and voices them to Jackson and Jillson, who assure her that she is doing the right thing.
SQ confronts his father with the information he has learned only to be repeatedly dismissed and told that he must trust that this is for the best. SQ instead does some snooping on his own and discovers that his birth parents were once rulers of an island nation and that Curtain was their friend and advisor on their court. He then assumes that Curtain must have used dark magic to betray them, kill them, and take over. Terrified, he runs away under the cover of night, and eventually bumps into Reynie, the only person he remembers meeting at the Institute. The kids explain that they are going to rescue their leader, Mr. Benedict, who wants to stop the dark wizard (Curtain) from taking over the world. SQ, learning his father has a twin for the first time, makes the split second decision to join them in their mission, while wondering what else his father has lied to him about. The children discover that SQ can do some simple spells that his father taught him, is pretty well educated, and although not exactly athletic, does know some basic fighting techniques. SQ teaches them what he knows, and they teach him things he doesn't know.
Meanwhile, Curtain's spell that he used to make Nicholas join him and comply begins to have disturbing side effects. He goes to Garrison for help, but she tells him that she warned him against using that kind of magic, and that it can't be reverse. He tells her that he will find a way, no matter what it takes. He then discovers his son is missing, and when he's spotted with the society, Curtain claims (and believes) they've kidnapped and brainwashed SQ and offers a reward to capture and bring them to the palace. This leads the others discover that SQ is Curtain's son. At first, they worry he's a spy, but SQ eventually convinces them that he's on their side, and that he is ready to fight his father and figure out the truth.
The kids show up to stop Curtain. Martina fights SQ at first, and is about to beat him, when Kate saves him by distracting Martina. Martina fights Kate again and this time she wins, but can't bring herself to kill Kate, admitting that Kate was right about her and about Curtain. Martina then decides to join them, much to the dismay of Jackson and Jillson, who blow trumpets alerting the greys of their arrival. Jeffers and his men show up to fight Martina and Kate (and Milligan and Number Two, who show up just in time).
Reynie, Sticky, Rhonda, and Miss. Perumal try some spells to help Mr. Benedict, but it doesn't work. Then Curtain and Garrison show up. Curtain puts a simple sleeping spell on Rhonda and Miss. Perumal. The boys are horrified, but Curtain explains that they will awaken in a few hours, once they've been escorted to their cells. The boys demand to know what will happen to Mr. Benedict. Garrison tells them they have no hope of helping Nicholas and that she warned Curtain this would happen. Curtain angrily replies that he gave her everything, including a chance to develop and practice her magic with no limitations, but she was only interested in holding him back, and she shouldn't pretend to care about his brother. The boys, realizing that Curtain does care about Mr. Benedict, try to convince him to turn good, but he replies that he is good and they are the ones that need to change.
He freezes the boys with magic and is about to cast a spell on them, when Constance arrives and challenges Curtain to rematch. The original plan was to have Constance only intervene if necessary, because the others suspected that after last time, Curtain and Garrison might have figured out a way to siphon off her magic. Curtain, hungry for power and realizing that taking her magic might enable him to both save Nicholas and keep his power, offers Constance a deal. Join him, give up her magic, and help him save Nicholas and he'll release her friends. He even does a truth spell on himself to verify he is telling the truth (idk if the narcolepsy thing is in this, this is already so much I don't want to add more, but if it is, he falls asleep and this verifies that he's telling the truth). Constance is about to agree, when SQ bravely runs in and challenges his dad to a duel of magic and sword. Curtain, who does not recognize his son with a helmet over his head, believes this is just some random knight and tries to magic him away, but finds to his surprise that this random knight has some fairly good countering spells. So they duel a bit, but Curtain gets the upper hand. In frustration at his plans being delayed, Curtain begins casting a painful and damaging spell on SQ, causing him to groan and scream in pain, at which point, his helmet falls off. Curtain immediately drops his hands, horrified at what he's done, and runs to his son's side. SQ weakly asks if this is what his father did to his birth parents. Curtain vehemently denies it, shocked his son would ask that, and it's heavily implied that something went wrong in the past that resulted in Curtain trying to use dark magic to fix it, but that ultimately, he wasn't powerful enough, and it resulted in the deaths of SQ's birth parents (I guess this is an SOS AU now. I don't know anymore).
Curtain asks SQ why he would turn against his own family, and SQ tells his father about how trapped he felt in the sheltered palace life Curtain had set up for him and how betrayed he felt that his father had kept so much from him. Curtain replies that he was only ever trying to protect him. SQ starts growing weaker and weaker as Nicholas' side effects start getting worse. Garrison is sad to see them both in pain and dying, but tells Constance and Curtain that she's not powerful enough to fix it, and that most of the magic that would is too powerful, even for any of them. Curtain, upon hearing this, attempts a spell that will exchange his own life for SQ's, but finds he's not powerful enough to use it, and that the dark magic he's been using has left him too corrupted to effectively cast a self-sacrificing spell. Curtain starts to cry and tells SQ that he loves him, hugging him close to his chest. SQ replies weakly, gasping for breath that despite everything, he loves his father too. This begins to heal SQ (power of love and all that. Beautiful stuff. What? It's a fairytale. I can give it a fairytale ending).
Constance, seeing that love was able to heal SQ, decides to give it a try. She walks over to Mr. Benedict and tells him that the reason she denied his offer of adoption was because she was scared of him leaving her like she assumes her parents must have. But now, she wishes she had accepted his offer, and that they had more time together because she would love to spend every second of it with him as her family. This heals Nicholas.
Happy ending right? Wrong. Curtain takes SQ to the palace on the islands where his birth parents lived (which had since been abandoned, but SQ realizes the sigil of his birth parents is the same one Curtain was using). Curtain then goes off on his own journey to released the world from his dark spells, with Nicholas to help him. The twins complete the task and return to the islands to find SQ missing (and a message from home via urgent carrier pigeon confirms Constance has gone missing as well). The twins investigate and find a mysterious woman occupying the islands. They demand to know where their children have gone. She tells them that they will be fine, provided the twins are willing to comply and embrace their destinies. She then introduces herself as their sister and says they have a lot to talk about.
And that's all I got. Please don't ask me to finish this, I'm tired. But I hope you like it.

Hello! It's benn a while since I last read P&P, but do you believe that Georgiana Darcy's reputation was ruined after what happened to Wickham or Mr Darcy could maintain it a secret? Of course they live in the country, but if she was to be presented in court would she have been scrutinized?
The simple answer is that Georgiana's reputation was not ruined. Darcy managed to cover up the failed elopement. No one found out:
Not a syllable had ever reached her [Caroline] of Miss Darcy’s meditated elopement. To no creature had it been revealed, where secrecy was possible, except to Elizabeth; and from all Bingley’s connections her brother was particularly anxious to conceal it, from that very wish which Elizabeth had long ago attributed to him, of their becoming hereafter her own. (Ch 45)
In fan fiction, Darcy is often shown as very worried that Wickham will reveal the secret, but in the book we don't see that. If Wickham just wanted revenge, he could have already destroyed Georgiana's reputation, which leads me to believe that he had already calculated that it would bring no benefit to him and/or hurt him. We also know that Wickham avoids Darcy in fear (doesn't attend the ball), not the other way around. Wickham is the penniless son of a steward and Darcy is the powerful heir to Pemberley, I have a feeling that it would go poorly for him if he tried to attack. I think people would probably turn against him, especially since Georgiana was underage and it would be very clear to everyone that he was only after her fortune.
Darcy even tells the Gardiners that he should have revealed Wickham's character to everyone:
The motive professed was his conviction of its being owing to himself that Wickham’s worthlessness had not been so well known as to make it impossible for any young woman of character to love or confide in him. He generously imputed the whole to his mistaken pride, and confessed that he had before thought it beneath him to lay his private actions open to the world. His character was to speak for itself. He called it, therefore, his duty to step forward, and endeavour to remedy an evil which had been brought on by himself. (Ch 52)
Now what this would have entailed is unclear, it seems that Darcy would have more than enough dirt on Wickham without revealing what happened with Georgiana.
I am not saying that a woman's reputation wasn't vulnerable, it clearly was, but you can't just go around claiming women are ruined with no proof. While a simple rumour could most likely ruin a girl like Lydia, who flouts social norms and openly flirts, it would be more difficult to sink someone like Georgiana. Darcy is worried about it, as we see in the first quote, but he's specifically anxious because he wants Georgiana and Charles to marry.

Genshin G/t ideas (this does include 4.2 AQ spoilers!)
(Because it's been a while since I indulged in a bit of fandom G/t. Some of these are stories I am planning on working on, and some are just ideas I just wanna throw out there) Nothing of this is too elaborative, just general ideas! Long text under the cut! This also gets so much more descriptive by each idea I have, I am treating this sort of like a drafts for how I should word it should I continue to writing some stories. So they will also abruptly end without a conclusion here, and with a lot of rambling, I apologize beforehand for that <3 Warnings: Fearfulness from the tinies, spoilers (but not really beyond the latest AQ), long post, feel free to tell me if I missed something!
A shrunken Furina and the caring Hydro Sovereign that finds her(after the AQ) - Neuvillette finds her in her house one day shrunken. She had hidden underneath her bed, and he coaxes her out patiently. Yes, Furina absolutely trusts her friend, but this is still a very exhausting and scary situation she has found herself in. He assesses the situation and sits with her, calming her down for a long time after she’s come forth - Maybe even a development of his protectiveness ;-D - He has a specific pocket just for Furina until they can fully address and fix her situation, he does not keep her there against her will, and even when protective of the human he trusts her to not do anything hasty. He is however afraid of someone else finding her, as only a few people know of her situation, and since she is a character of status it terrifies him to think about what might occur if she’d be taken by the wrong people - She follows him to his court duties (if she wishes to, otherwise she's often at his desk napping, or with one of the working melusines) and whenever she's with him at a trial he is extremely mindful of her presence, being more careful with how he slams the cane down, as well when now not-shouting "order" - Wind is catching about how the former Archon has disappeared, and the highest and important figures (Wrio, Navia, Clorinde, Neuvillette, even Charlotte who has sworn not to say or write down anything about the situation Furina has found herself in) are not revealing anything and say that they are working hard to gather information about Furinas whereabouts
Borrower Kaveh living in Alhaithams house- Kaveh thinks the acting grand sage is none the wiser to his "tenants" existence. He's been here for the better of half a year and has - despite accidentally sneaking around when the human was present lounging around - not been seen. Most likely due to those heavy books the human often has his nose almost stuffed into - What he doesn't know is that Alhaitham is one step ahead. Kaveh often thinks he is the luckiest borrower around, always finding perfect scraps, non-stale food, and material that the human just has accidentally dropped, but Alhaitham is deliberate. He studies the borrower as he roams around the house, and will one day eventually want to interrogate the small man. But so far he has noticed he's harmless, and not some wicked experiment sent as a spy. Alhaitham even thinks the borrower is quite the gullible creature, as he somehow has not noticed his lingering gaze as he is quite the expressive character whenever he finds something new to "borrow". Alhaitham just wonders what he's doing with all those shards of glass, fabric and threads he finds... - Kaveh has absolutely decorated the place in the wall he has found himself residing in. It looks absolutely extravagant even with the scarce and broken things he has gathered - Eventually one day Alhaitham corners the small man when he’s out on his table - Kaveh is frozen in place as he hadn’t noticed the man sneaking up on him, and oh how he fears this man. From him overhearing through the walls and his observations of this man, he’s gotten the idea the man is cold. - To Kaveh that can only mean bad news, not all humans took kindly to their presence and Kaveh has nowhere to go - This Alhaitham had of course accounted for, he didn’t want this to be filled with complications, and needed the borrower to listen to him without having to take him away - He starts throwing questions right away, he’s noticing how the small man tries to hide his nerves behind a snarky facade - Alhaitham has made sure the Akasha terminal does not record the encounter with the tiny person (I haven’t finished the Sumeru AQ so my knowledge about the Akasha terminal is limited) - Kaveh is distressed at the fact he is stuck here until the human goes away, he doesn’t want to risk the man knowing where he usually hides away, although he is positively surprised by how seemingly respectful the encounter is, the questions sure are invasive but he’s not prodded, and there is a good distance between himself and the giant - Alhaitham does not reveal how obvious Kaveh is when out and about, and he wishes to berate him regarding going out at all when the silver haired man is home, he wants to see how long this obliviousness will continue - Kaveh is left dizzy from the encounter, he never expected himself be seen, much less by the man spending hours looking at his books - Their encounters become more frequent after that day, and Kaveh is starting to catch on finally how much the human has done for him when he thought he was oblivious to his existence
Giant Archons- Self explanatory, I adore the idea of the Archons having giant forms that they keep under radar - I mean considering different realms the Archons seemingly can enter (we have Euthymia, teapots, Venti's own disappearance as he healed himself, which sure some seem just like an inner state, but consider that they have created realms where they all can meet) they most definitely have some where they can let their true forms show - But maybe I have an idea about someone finding them, and being all afraid seeing the deities so enormously different - I once read an Eye of the Storm!Venti fic, and even that is fascinating. I can imagine their elemental powers being so overwhelming too when they are giant, not to the point it is suffocating for the mere mortal, but just the fact you can feel their powers surround you just by being in their presence - I had an idea where the reader stumbles upon a giant Barbatos and Morax, this was an idea I had before I had gone to Inazuma and before Sumeru was even out. It was also before I had listened to any of their voice lines about each other or read any like elaborate lore about the Archon war, etc. - Just a divine being being giant is a nice idea to me <3
Baizhu searches for the Geo Archon for his blessing, not realizing the giant he is about to meet(this one is so self-indulgent, but I have such a huge love for both Zhongli and Baizhu, and whether or not one ships them, their contrasting characteristics make me so intrigued - an immortal, and despite maybe not wishing entirely for mortality, still finds mortality and humanity interesting, and the ever benevolent mortal who seeks immortality, and will go drastic lengths to ensure his goal is met) - Rex Lapis in this AU is not deemed dead - Baizhu is of course as ever seeking immortality. One day he decides he will visit the plains forbidden within the Guyun stone forest, and seek out Rex Lapis as he is rumored to reside there - Guyun stone forest is a dangerous place, and he asks Changsheng and Qiqi to stay at the pharmacy with Gui as he traverses Liyue to seek the god - What he does not expect is a place in where he phases into another realm, this one adorned with enormous furniture, and ahead of him a throne fit only for the deity ruling over Liyue - He hides by one of the throne-chairs legs, out of sight for whoever will sit at it, and lo and behold, Rex Lapis himself soon seats himself - It is not he who finds Baizhu hiding, instead Xiao (also giant within this realm, as other Adepti and Yaksha are too) senses something off within the room as he attends to his duties - Because he senses something off he is best to be cautious about it possibly being a danger to the god he serves, or a spy sent to this realm - He quickly sends a weak - yet still overwhelming to any mortal - wave of Anemo as he spots a small figure by the throne, and sends them toppling over - Because of Baizhu’s long trek I imagine him with a cane, and as he is toppled the cane he was using to hold himself upright through all his nerves is thrown away from him, and he finds himself unable to stand up again - Xiao is quick on his feet and crouches menacingly over the mortal he now can see, demanding him to stand up and to explain himself - Baizhu can’t stand up and is left quivering on the ground, all he manages is to hold himself upright on his forearms and kneecaps, looking down on the ground as he swallows his nerves, of course fear coursed through him, he never expected this turn of events as he sought out Liyue’s Archon - Xiao notices this, and internally feels a sense of dread, it seems the mortal here has accidentally wandered into the realm he now is in, and he realizes he has rendered an ill mortal too to the ground - Rex Lapis of course wondered what just occurred for Xiao to be so wary and to step by his throne in all his haste, and as he glances down by where he is seated he notices the mortal now trembling on the ground, Xiao looking mortified - Morax realizes what is going on as he carefully summons small stone pillars that help the man up onto his feet again, and as he steps up from his throne Xiao teleports away - He ever so gently takes the cane that was lying by a large pot and places it on his fingertips, holding his palm flat just by the green haired man, so he can take it without too much of a fright (albeit he guesses this ordeal has already terrified him) - I have some ideas for how this will process further, I just think Baizhu tells Morax of his wishes and why he traveled all the way over to meet him - Later on, Rex Lapis is now holding the human who is seated on his palm, they meet Xiao again and the Yaksha bows deeply and apologizes for the things that happened - Baizhu can not blame him for being protective of the deity, and accepts the apology, he has an immense respect for the Adepti and feels almost flustered with this whole ordeal - Rex Lapis has Baizhu by for dinner!
(I will wanna elaborate on this as I’ve had this idea for ages! Since before Baizhu’s banner came out :’)))
Neuvillette and tiny/borrower Aether (I’m thinking Aether and Lumine have somehow lost each other in this AU too, hence Aether being the only one living here) - Aether hides away in the walls surrounding the court of Fontaine, particularly the walls surrounding Neuvillettes office - He finds the day in which it rains a blessing, as his steps are easily drowned out by the powerful drizzle that hits the window panes, even distracting the residing rodents and other animals that shared the walls with him - He also noticed that whenever it rained the office was usually empty for a long period of time and as the sun came out the office was usually occupied again by the man he feared meeting - He fetches water into a leather pouch from the teacup standing upon the desk and is quickly on his way off - Neuvillette has started to get used to the slightly leathery taste of his waters, and thinks nothing of it, it has never harmed him and the strong aftertaste of freshness still overpowered that tidbit - He looks upon his documents and notices a peculiar smudge in the ink, bringing it closer to his sights. The smudge is not just a bit of excessive ink, but instead dons the shape of a… shoe print almost, this he finds extremely peculiar - Some days later Aether is out again as the rain carried on outside, there were cookies placed upon the desk, usually it was some moist sweet or cupcake, but Aether didn’t think much of it, if he just stole a crumb no one would be none the wiser to his appearance here - He doesn’t notice the slitted violet eyes watching him from afar as he went by his borrowing routine - Until he hears a small shuffle, and Aethers heart is sent up and gets lodged in his throat - He turns around in haste, and there stands the tall man, eyes directly making contact with his own - Aether wants to run, but hugs the piece of the cookie closer as the man begins walking closer to his position. He soon stands so close he is towering over the desk and consequently the small borrower upon it, but Neuvillette is really none the wiser about the storm of emotions raging inside the small human (?) (TBC! I have a draft written out hehe :) )
Giant Sovereign Neuvillette meeting Zhongli who in comparison is tiny(Got this idea after Neuvillette’s voice lines about the Archons were revealed) - Morax/Zhongli finds himself in a sort of a dreamscape. He has barely any time to think of where he could be as the place all of a sudden shakes in a rhythmic fashion, he is to look around but is stopped - All of a sudden a giant object hurdles down beside him, knocking him off his feet - He catches himself from the fall, and before he can look up whatever just fell beside him he notices the giant shining shoes just behind the object, as his gaze travels up amongst the blues and golds and of the almost regal outfit that adorned the man standing beside him. Not just beside him, positively towering over him. The object that had thundered down, he now noticed, was a cane, held by the giant sovereign as he with a stern gaze surveyed the small usurper now lying by its tip - I know Neuvillette is technically not older than Zhongli in his reincarnated form, but I want to imagine he has regained his memories of his past lives, and sees Zhongli as eons younger than him, he therefore refers to him as “Young Morax” as they speak - He crouches over the deity, and Morax almost feels as if he is mocking him (This is sadly all I have for now regarding this, as I haven't thought about how to continue it, might also continue this in the future!)
That is all I have rn! <3

say you're mine (you need me)
welcome to the fic that feels weirdly horny without being explicit (minus a couple references), jackal only knows how to flirt via violence and being a lil fucker, they finally make out god bless despite jackal fearing they fucked up
(jackal uses it/it's, hoarfrost uses she/her and they/them as a pair bc of lore i am so mentally ill about)
"Targaryen." The blighted creature calling itself god-king has returned to drape across Aemonds table, to rap its claws insistently against the wood. And when he doesn't immediately look up, it lightly drags those claws down the pages of his novel. It only huffs a laugh when he swats at it, ever so amused by his irritation. "We have a query."
"Mm. Then ask. As we both know you shall, even if I attempt to deny you."
"The eye patch. Explain it to us." He doesn't even have to look up to grab it's wrist, having grown a sixth sense for that exact purpose. Because it touches him so frequently, often without thinking if the startled look that flashes across its face when they realize it's leaning on him again is truly genuine. (..he thinks it might be. he has yet to encounter a moment in which it is not painfully terribly genuine and forthcoming.)
Unconsciously he rubs his thumb against its wrist, despite so frequently touching him it rarely allows him to touch back. The closest he gets is when it doesn't move quite fast enough, when it reels back cackling and licking blood from its lips, offering him a glint of sharp fangs. When it has a look in its eyes, feral and unhinged fever bright in its intensity and he.
His thoughts have somehow wandered away from him. (he chooses to not ponder the implications of it happening in its presence too frequently.) So when he flicks his eye briefly to its face he catches a glimpse of deep amusement. (as if it knows what it does to him as if it knows far too much as if.)
"....It's for the sweet ladies at court. Wouldn't want to frighten them after all, because some of us know how to act a gentleman, oh Sovereign."
There is a long stretch of silence, shocking considering the way the wretch often prattles on and on. And when he finally looks up at it properly the both of them have their heads tilted, it's face wearing a blank mask of…something.
Then it's looking into his eye, and the action makes Aemonds breath catch for some unknowable reason. Then its lips are curling into a sharp smile, it's moving too fast for him to do much more than reflexively put a hand out against that scarred expanse of its chest. He can feel the steady rise and fall of it and.
Truly this close he can feel the ghost of its breath cold against his lips. You can feel the indulgent purr as it drops its voice, mockingly saccharine. "For your courtly ladies? Or your prettily painted courtesans?" It pauses, pressing indulgently even closer, voice almost a murmur as if the sweet nothings of a lover. "The ones you pretend are us?"
It cackles in tune with the amused chittering of its drake even as he shoves it away, moving just deftly enough to avoid a proper hit. A chorus of mockery for his seething.
Against all odds he earns a few days of blessed silence from The Storm's Sovereign and The Incandescent Lady Hoarfrost.
Oh he's certain it's still skulking around the keep, swapping barbs with his brother and uncle. Crouching next to his sister and listening to her with an air of almost reverence. Becoming far too fond with whatever servants that happen to cross its path.
But he at least is spared its attentions.
Which is why he is confused, to put it kindly, as to why it is in his room. More specifically in his bed, sprawling across it like the most indulgent hound. While Lady Hoarfrost is curled around his bed in its entirety, head resting upon the blankets. And the two of them are crooning softly to each other in that not quite Valyrian they speak.
(he knows consciously that the drake is only mimicking back the sounds of its master and yet. there is something too aware in her eyes when she watches him. it makes him feel trapped, as if a rabbit in a snare.)
They don't even bother to look up as he stands in the doorway attempting to figure out if he was slipped something in his wine that night. For surely that would be the only logical explanation as to why they found it necessary to break into his rooms and make themselves perfectly at home.
"......Why." That finally gets it to look up, to let out a far too pleased chirp, to swing its legs off the bed and regard him.
"We had another query for you Targaryen."
"And you could not think of somewhere more suitable? Somewhere more appropriate that did not involve breaking into my room?"
He'd moved as he spoke, an error on his part, as he can see once again that it is looking into his eye. That it is holding eye contact unflinching, unwavering. Then it is smiling once more, head tilting to the side as they both observe him. "Mmm it is. Your face." It pauses, a look that on anyone else he would have called demure flitters across its features for the barest moment. "We desire to see it, without the eye patch."
There is silence once again as he attempts to understand the words. Close as he is, it had wrapped a hand round his hip and that truly does not help his mind make sense of the matter any faster.
Instead he's too busy focusing on the way it's gripping him, claws idly digging into leather as if the creature does not know a thing about how to be soft and gentle.
Alas he's allowed the silence to stretch on too long, as its smile droops. Less sharp and teasingly bright now more…embarrassed. (He's never seen that expression before, he wasn't aware it knew how to feel any semblance of shame.)
"Our apologies. It was a request that overstepped too far." He doesn't step back even as it releases your hip to stand, as it looms over him far too close. Even as it tilts its head down with a slight frown maring its features. "Targaryen."
Only then does he have the good sense to move, mind still moving horribly slow as he watches their retreating back.
It's only as the Lady Hoarfrost's tail swishes, and the door clicks shut behind the pair, that he realizes he's made an error.
The silence is less blessed this go around, as none can seem to find hair nor hide of king or dragon.
The pair of them are known to leave upon occasion yes but never without informing Aemond. Never without draping across his back and crooning about how sad it is to be leaving him alone. But that it shall think of him as it's felling it's next great beast, and perhaps it shall bring him back its heart.
(it did in fact bring him a heart once, from a stag it had claimed to have brought down with bare hands. it was wrapped in silks and placed upon his dresser with an accompanying note.)
(of course it's handwriting is atrocious so all he was truly able to make out was his own name.)
He finds himself now not missing them, for that would imply a great degree of care that he does not hold for the beast. For Lady Hoarfrost perhaps he could say he holds that much affection as she is a beauty to behold.
Especially when she is sprawled out across the castle grounds, the sun glinting off her hide and making her countenance more reminiscent of a deep lazurite. When her master runs cloth over her scales to make them shine further, beads of sweat dripping down its neck and snaking over tattoos meant to resemble its drakes hide and.
He cuts off that train of thought as quickly as it started. He does not miss them, he is not thinking of them. (he is not thinking of cool hands in his, he is not thinking of it pressing far far too close to him, pinning him against the wall with teeth set to his throat as it huffs a laugh.)
(he is not thinking of the way it reeks like the air before a storm when it's near him. he is not thinking of them late at night. he is not thinking of it when he spends his time with the ladies, when he is not satisfied by them but plays at it to not harm their feelings.)
He is most certainly not counting the days in the back of his mind, the time in which it has not been bothering him. The times in which he makes some quip only to be met with silence.
And his heart does not race when he hears of their arrival. It does not pound, and it does not rage with a jealous fury when he realizes they are avoiding him.
At first he presumed it was naught but coincidence. The pair vanished with nary a word, of course there would be some matter or another to attend to before pestering him once more. But then.
But then he catches its gaze quite by accident across the courtyard.
Aemond did not know that they knew how to run away from someone. (he did not know that fear was an expression it could wear.) And yet they continue to do it, continue to flee before he has a chance to approach.
Once he managed to get rather close to them, only for the Lady Hoarfrost to hiss at him in warning. He would have pressed his luck if not for the crackle of lightning dancing along her fangs. An effective enough threat display he was loath to admit.
So it only makes sense in his mind to turn to more drastic measures. If they will not speak to him willingly he will force the matter, at least to find out what he has done. Of course the moment he opens their rooms (it doesn't even keep the door locked for fucks sake.) he is met with. Well a travesty is putting it lightly.
How a room can be sparse and yet horrifically disorganized is beyond him. They have left pelts strewn around the room (a nest? does it sleep in a nest with its drake?) there is a mass he thinks may once have been jewelry. There are finer clothes than they ever wear left on the floor of all places.
He can feel his mother throwing a fit, sense it in his very bones.
They find him attempting to untangle the mass, one leg tucked under him while he works. It's meditative work to the point he wouldn't have heard them come in if not for the sharp clack of Lady Hoarfrost's claws on the floor.
She had entered first, and now stands in the doorway with a low hiss rattling in her chest. Her rider makes a questioning noise, sounding so much like a dragon itself, before evidently stepping around her and spotting him. And then! It hisses at jim as well! Honest to the gods hisses.
"Targaryen. Dare we ask-"
"A bit hypocritical don't you think?" He doesn't know if it's the turning to face them properly, or the act of cutting them off that makes the rattling hiss fall silent. "Getting all in a huff over the very actions you've performed, hm?"
He'd taken the eye patch off early on, fully intending on surprising it as they'd returned.
A fact he is reminded of in the most beautiful way possible as it flushes from its cheeks down its throat and chest. Lady Hoarfrost is similarly ruffled, fixing him with that all too human stare, pupils swallowing up the gold of her iris.
"Mm had I known this was all it took to shut you up perhaps I should have agreed sooner."
His quip seems to jar them out of whatever trance overtook them as they cross the room so quickly. He almost laughs at the haste it employs, practically tripping over its own feet.
But then it is in his lap, and he can see its own eyes are gone almost black. Only the barest glint of gold remains. Then it's reaching up to lay a hand to his cheek, idly tracing the scar from the wound that took your eye.
It almost moves as if to lay a fingertip upon the sapphire before thinking better of it. A shocking turn of events, almost as shocking as the deep rattling purr that comes out of it. He'd almost mistaken it for Hoarfrost's own if not for his hand upon its chest, for the way he can feel the deep thrum of it.
And then.
And then he should truly learn to stop being shocked at this point. Because only then does it kiss him.
It kisses him the same way it does everything else; violently. As if the only way it was taught to do anything was by force. That the only way it could love something was to sink its teeth in and consume it whole.
But well. Perhaps the two of them are a matched pair in that regard.
It certainly enjoys the attention, if the pleased sound it makes when he bites it back is any indication.

okay okay so I can't get this Aemyra idea out of my head. all I can think about is HOW Aemond would try to woo her, the same way a hunter leads a tiger into a trap, the same way a rider seeks to bind a dragon to their will. he's cautious, baiting her we sweet things...well sweet to a targaryen. yes lovely rider's leathers, jewels from across the narrow sea, but also the tongues of those who speak ill of her and her sons. and I just have this very specific interaction between them. Aemond presenting her the heart of a noble who had been spreading rumors about her children as sweetly as a lover would present boquets or fine silks. And though Rhaenyra is pleased, she is suspicious saying, "you would court me like you did Vhagar, brother? Presenting morsels for devouring, you hope to flatter me." And Aemond smiling as sharply as the blade of a knife asks, "and if I do? We are Targaryens, sister. We are dragons and should be treated as such." And Rhaenyra kissing her younger brother sweetly on the corner of his mouth before hissing hotly in his ear, "were I truly a dragon I would have done what Vhagar should have, torn your head from your body." And hell if Aemond doesn't immediately pop a semi from that comment alone. Rhaenyra with blood on her mouth?? Her teeth pink with his blood and her spit??? He is my fave creep!
anon I am in (platonic) love with you and I am (platonically) kissing you on the mouth
This is SO GOOD THOUGH.
I really feel like Aemond would start out this courtship by underestimating Rhaenyra. He grew up scared of her, because his grandfather and mother said that she was dangerous and would do anything to secure her claim to the throne, but that fear faded as he got older and realized that her loyalty will always lie with her family. So he started out courting her under the assumption that she is beautiful and clever and ambitious, but still a noblewoman who is easily swayed with shiny gems and flowery poetry.
Rhaenyra reminds him very quickly that no matter how she looks or how she presents herself in court, she is still a dragon and he damn well better remember that. When he makes a (semi serious) comment part way through their courtship about replacing her bastard sons with his own pure children, she casually (and completely seriously) says that she would gut him like a pig and leave him to bleed out in their marriage bed if he even looked at her sons the wrong way.
Part of her thought that that would scare him away (because he may look like a Targaryen but he wasn't truly raised as Valryian, not like she was) but he just falls even more in love with her. Aemond had always thought she was the most beautiful creature he'd ever seen, but when she bares her teeth at him and lets her own fire bleed through into her eyes and voice, she becomes truly resplendent.
And that's when the courtship starts to get fucked up.
He hunts and brings back pelts still tacky with blood to show her that he caught them just for her. He gives her delicate and intricate boxes made of wood and glass and even one of Valyrian steel, filled with the fingers of men who didn't keep their hands to themselves, the tongues of men who made ill-advised comments about her sons, and the hearts of men who dared say something about Rhaenyra herself. Everyone in King's Landing, from the nobles to the servants to the lowest peasants, learns that the princess is off limits if they value their lives.
And Rhaenyra is definitely suspicious, especially when it wasn't so long ago that it was Aemond who was insulting her and her sons and now he's killing others for that same crime, but the dragon in her purrs at the smell of blood on the gifts he presents her with and that dark, possessive look in his eye. It's been a very long time since anyone truly saw her for what she is instead of the quiet and reserved princess she pretends to be and this dangerous little courtship dance she finds herself in with her brother is making her pulse race.
Aemond knows that he has to tread carefully; one misstep and he'll find his throat torn out or a dagger between his ribs. But honestly, what better death could he hope for than one at his sister's hands? What more could he want than knowing that it would be his blood staining her perfect skin and settling on her tongue?
They're sooooo fucked up and I love them :)

I am asking about your httyd x Steven Universe AU.
HELL FUCKING YEAHHHHH
I hope u are prepared for a massive paragraph <3 Also I have to make two posts bc I hit the word limit.
Thousands of years ago, there were dragons. They filled the earth and lived in all kinds of places, with so much beauty and variation, adapted for each and every corner, few places were left untouched by the great scaley beasts.
So of course the Gems encountered them. They were always poking around the sites for kindergartens and the ships because these things were new and smelled weird, and some didn't have a smell at all. There was even a small family of Gronckles that had settled into the area where the amethysts would emerge. And the dragons always had the attention of the Gems.
Most creatures on earth weren't worth the worry, humans and the like, just normal and plain and not helpful whatsoever. But then there were the dragons. Those big scaley organics that had wings, sometimes they had fire, one could spit boiling water, they were shockingly adaptive to any condition, very few of them couldn't fly, they seemed like the perfect creatures to aid in Homeworld's colonizing. And Pink Diamond simply adored them, so Homeworld began abducting dragons. Pink Diamond adored that less.
Her court was the first to obtain dragons, her fellow Diamonds even tracked down her favorite kind to present to her as a gift, the very first dragon to step foot in a palanquin was a large female Night Fury, who would from then on be Pink Diamond's loyal companion.
Over time, Homeworld perfected some rather cruel training methods. Dragons may not live forever like Gems do, but many of them live for 500 years or more, which meant that they had plenty of time to study a singular individual...figuring out all of its weaknesses. They treated their dragons less than ideally, basing the bonds with their dragons off of fear and dependance, breeding dragons and raising them the way Gems are from the moment they emerge: with a specific purpose in mind, and severe punishment if they strayed from that purpose. They even began to experiment, finding ways to turn these dragons from useful assets to powerful superweapons.
Safe to say, our leading lady did NOT like a single bit of this. The human zoo ticked her off enough already with the Diamonds thinking that was a suitable compromise, but the flat-out abuse of the dragons was the final straw. That's when the rebellion really kicked into gear, and instead of simply leaving her fury behind when she took on her persona of Rose Quartz, she brought her along after faking her shattering. Nothing is a bigger blow to Homeworld's ego than the loyal companion of Pink leaving with a rebel.
While the war was going on, her fury had sadly reached the end of the line...but while she was grieving, her healing tears worked their magic, and she brought the dragon back to life, turned the dark black scales of her Night Fury to a bright rosey pink, and her dragon gained some strange powers thanks to this. The very quick and powerful Night Fury became quicker and more powerful, which gave the CGs quite the leg up in most battles.
Rose taught her fellow Crystal Gems how to train dragons properly, without making them afraid. You see, due to the fact that Gems aren't organic and pretty much have zero innerworkings despite their gemstone, they're extremely off-putting to a dragon as they evade their senses. Gems behave like living beings, but the dragons can't properly inspect them, and it causes every first Gem-dragon interaction to begin with a bit of mistrust. That's why it's so much harder for Gems to train dragons, because even the most docile dragons will be wary of a Gem.
Pearl's first ever dragon was a Deadly Nadder. Tall, pretty, elegant, with lots of speed, sharp spines, and one of the hottest fire blasts of any dragon. The perfect species for somehow who is also often misjudged by her pretty appearance.
Garnet assumedly should have had one singular dragon, but she discovered that in the event of possibly getting separated, having a two headed dragon would be very useful. Her first dragon was a Hideous Zippleback, one she grew very close to.
Pearl recorded every earth-bound species that she and Rose encountered, sharpening her drawing skills and making as many notes as possible on methods of training for each species, which helped them quite a bit during the time of the dragons. Rose's Night Fury even reach alpha status at one point, and that was something Pearl had the pleasure of recording in the book, drawings of the big pink dragon with glowing spines, commanding other dragons as if she were controlling their every move.
Rose worried. She worried that humans might take on Homeworld's ideas about dragons, she worried that Homeworld wouldn't stop until every dragon on the planet was gone and the planet itself was destroyed, so in an effort to protect the dragons, she went around the world on her Night Fury, using the dragon's alpha status to chase each and every dragon they could find into the big underground world that so many other dragons seemed to call home. The Crystal Gems, including Rose, reluctantly parted ways with their dragons, and it wasn't too long after that the war started to die down, and then the blast hit. And in all of her days of chasing monsters, Rose never once saw another dragon. Nor did they speak about the dragons ever again. Because Rose wanted them to be safe.
Years later, Steven and the Gems were out on a mission, and the monster they were tailing had created a hole in the ground. That hole happened to be right at an entryway to the Hidden World, and the Gems decided that it was time to teach Steven about the part of his mother's legacy that sparked legends and myths across so many different groups of humans. They took him in, and it was there that they saw Rose's Night Fury for the first time in a very long while, still alive and living with a large pack of other Night Furies. She immediately bonded to Steven, recognizing his gemstone and remembering his mother, she recognized the Crystal Gems too, and allowed them to come into her pack's home, where she revealed to them that she had a nest, with a few young furies that shared her pink qualities, but only one was completely bright pink like their mother. A little male with no fear who was drawn to Steven as if by instinct. That fury became Steven's dragon, Rose's fury urged him to go with the Crystal Gems, so they allowed Steven to bring him to the surface, as long as he kept his dragon secret.
When dragons began to interfere with their above ground work, that's when the Gems decided they'd no longer be benched in the dragon department, and they when back to their roots, training their own dragons to use in situations like that. Pearl stuck with a Deadly Nadder, a little difficult to track down, but still a choice she couldn't stray from.
Garnet had planned to find another Zippleback like the one she used to have, but her searching led her to find a Mist Twister, a dragon with one head for fire and another for ice. It was pretty hard to refuse such a good fit, the dragon liked Ruby and Sapphire, and it loves Garnet.
Amethyst never had a dragon before, as she was found after Rose had sent the dragons away, so she had a lot of options rather than any sentimentality to make her stick to a specific species. She eventually settled on a Gembreaker. What's more perfect for the rough and tough Gem that likes to break stuff than a dragon with a gemstone horn that also likes to break stuff?
Steven's only job was to keep the dragons secret. And he was good at it for a little while. He learned all kinds of dragon training tips from the others, how to find the weak spots on each one, Pearl re-checked the diets to see if anything had changed since the last time, and she shared the favorite foods of each dragon with Steven, showing him everything that his mother couldn't be there to show him.

QUESTION THREE: if your character is supernatural, do they fear humans? if human, do they fear the supernatural?  cordelia fears neither the supernatural or humans. she thinks too highly of herself to have serious concerns about anyone else besting her - species aside.
QUESTION FOUR: share a fun headcanon or fact about your character! this doesn’t have to be long, just something to introduce us to your character!  when cordelia cares about someone - even if she doesn't really want them to know it - she'll charge a clear quartz crystal with protective spells and hide it somewhere in their vicinity. for example, woe as she may be to admit it, she's likely left a crystal tucked behind a bookshelf in dawson's home.

GENYA & THE DARKLING
GENYA AND THE DARKLING TAG
My Genya isn’t attracted (romantically or sexually) to the darkling. She sees him as a father figure.
Genya is 5 years old when she’s first brought to the little palace and first meets the darkling.
the darkling is the first person to see her power as a gift and the first person to make her feel at home.
She’s 9 years old when he gifts her to the queen without consulting her. She feels betrayed but quickly forgives him because she first finds a mother figure in the queen and a brother/friend in prince nikolai.
Genya is 13 years old when she makes the hard choice to endure but keeps confiding in the darkling on occasions. she becomes his loyal spy and soldier. Her dreams of revenge and the glimmers of hope the darkling gives her are what keeps her holding on.
Over the years, she visits him quite often and they even have that little tradition of spending the evening of her birthday together. They have cake and tea together and he entertains her with some stories.
Genya is quite sad when the darkling is out of the palace for her fifteenth birthday but that is also the day she first meets David Kostyk.
The other grisha didn’t know the whole truth. They only knew her as the Queen’s pet and the King’s whore. The Darkling had been her only friend, until David but, even then, David didn’t know the full extent of what went on behind closed doors and she didn’t wish for him to know. (excerpt from an old thread of mine)
MY GENYA’S THOUGHTS ABOUT THE DARKLING IN SIEGE & STORM / SHADOW AND BONE S 2 As much as Genya owed The Darkling her life, she remained utterly afraid of the man. Of the father figure who’d led the child she was into the grasp of a hungry King when she was too young to consent to anything of the sorts or even grasp the amount of suffering she was signing up for. But it wasn’t just the man she was terrified of. Because, although his insistence that she be given the room next to his and stays by his side at all time never failed to trigger her (it reminded her of the king’s predatory behaviors towards her), there were true monsters to fear as well. His Nichevo'ya. Creatures made of shadows craving human flesh. Creatures he’d convinced his followers he had complete control over but Genya had witnessed the truth. […] Control was but an illusion. really. A mask he kept on and one that came tumbling down the moment they were alone and he’d have her touch up his scars so the others wouldn’t see the true damages he’d suffered at the claws of the volcras, other creatures he’d made a long time ago.Merzost was poisoning him. And Genya knew enough about poison and its effects to know there was no cure for this specific affliction of his. Claiming the last Morozova amplifier might buy him time at most. He’d die eventually. But there was no telling what cruelty he’d be able to accomplish between now and the moment he’d draw his last breath.  […] She just had to hold on long enough, be his loyal soldier till the end and then she’d be free. For good. (excerpt from a dabble i wrote)

GENYA & NIKOLAI
KOLYANYA TAG
Genya had a brother-sister-like relationship with Nikolai when they were much younger.
One day when they were kiddos, Genya was sad because she felt like she didn’t belong and some girls at court had been mean to her because of her bright red hair, calling her a witch. Nikolai stepped in and let her tailor his hair red so they’d stop making fun of her. He said that they would look like siblings this way, even though he already thought of her as his sister. For some reason, she hasn’t been able to reverse it for days and Nikolai’s new hair color quickly earned him the folk name Too-Clever Fox.
Genya hasn’t forgiven him yet for leaving her behind to serve in the infantry while she suffers silently at the hands of his father (which he doesn’t know). He used to write back to her, then he stopped (right around the time Dominik died, which Genya isn’t aware of) and Genya kept on writing to him until she eventually stopped and lost hope in ever seeing him again.
My Genya knows immediately who Sturmhond really is when she first meets the privateer hired by The Darkling and she says nothing to her General. She keeps the secret because she knows he’s gonna set Alina free and this is what Genya wants. She wants to right her wrongs and she wants Alina to be safe.
Genya hadn’t seen the prince in years but her faith in him had been rekindled when she’d run into Sturmhond, the privateer the Darkling had hired to help capture the second amplifier. Of course, she’d known who he was before he fled with Alina. It had taken a simple exchange. Something that might have seemed trivial to anyone else. But not to her. It hadn’t made sense for a privateer, a non-patriot, to ask her if the crown prince had survived the illness that had spread in the Palace. Nor for the relief to appear in his eyes when he’d read a quiet “ yes ” in her ambers. And  if she looked closely, she could perceive the faint traces of tailoring. The red hair had also been a telltale sign for her. He’d once asked her to tailor his hair this exact shade of red when they were kids, so the girls at Court would stop making fun of her bright red curls and calling her a witch. She’d had to admit the muddy green eyes were hiding his too-clever hazel pretty well. She hadn’t said anything on the matter, though. She hadn’t told the Darkling, her General, who he truly was. […] She couldn’t risk Nikolai getting captured […] They’d stood in silence, an understanding passing between them. A silent promise. He knew. She knew. […] And he was gonna free Alina. Alina Starkov. Another love Genya had sacrificed for her freedom. Maybe it wasn’t too late. Maybe she could still make it right. (excerpt from a dabble i wrote)
Genya also knows Nikolai is not the King’s son.
Yes. Genya knew Nikolai was no Lantsov. Alexander wasn’t the only one to talk when he was drunk on kvas. Queen Tatiana was also quite chatty without her inhibitions. Genya had seen the miniature the queen kept close and the portrait inside and she’d heard Tatiana talking fondly of the man it depicted. It had been clear to her that the woman truly loved both her sons but her Sobachka always had a special place in her heart. And Genya understood why. Nikolai might’ve been a bastard son but he was the product of love. (excerpt from a dabble i wrote)

GENYA X DAVID
DAVNYA TAG
Genya couldn’t allow herself to care for anyone else. Not the way she’d cared for ROZA. The first Otkazat'sya she’d fallen for. A servant girl, like her. But when the King had heard about the teenagers being somewhat involved, he’d had Roza framed for theft, banning her from the Grand Palace. She never heard of her first love after that. And then, there was David whom she’d met when she was fifteen. That day, she’d brought the fabrikators some of the queen’s jewelry that were broken or out of style so they could use it for the material. Genya was sad because the Darkling was away and she had no one else to celebrate her birthday with (usually, the darkling and her had tea together and he would entertain her with some stories). David had noticed she seemed fond of one of the necklaces and he’d fixed it for her. She’d been surprised by the gesture. She’d never worn it, though. Because she had to wear the king’s jewelry instead, as asked by the queen to show how grateful she was for the attention she’d been given. The necklace was still hidden in her bedside table back in her old room. Since then, Genya had found various excuses to come by the fabrikators’ lab but she couldn’t bring herself to make a move. She’d been terrified of the king finding out she had feelings for someone else. If David was sent away, or worse, because of her recklessness, she would’ve never forgiven herself. And so, she’d loved him in secret. Loved him from a distance. (excerpt from a dabble i wrote)
Because of what happened to Roza Genya is afraid of being involved with anyone else and keeps her crush on David (and any of the other loves she has) a secret and will rarely act on her feelings in public.

GENYA X VASILY @COURONNEZ
VASILENYA TAG
Vasily is the first man Genya slept with willingly.
❛ You were the first man who ever touched me…because I wanted him to. ❜ It had been a mystery, really. How she’d fallen for the son of the cruel king who’d abused her. But Vasily was not his father. Sure, he liked gambling and kvas and horses… and he’d perfected the art of unlacing corsets. But he’d done the latter with complete consent of all parties involved. Something King Alexander couldn’t brag about that was for sure for the man had never asked for anything in his life, he just took. […] She hadn’t planned for anything to become real between [her and Vasily] […] He’d been a way to tear down the Lantsov bloodline from the inside. King Alexander might’ve very well killed his son himself if he knew he’d taken what he’d deemed his. But, for some reason, she’d found herself bringing Vasily in places his father would never think to search. And her heart would start pounding whenever they would meet. And it had nothing to do with the fact she was anticipating his death. No. It was…something else. Longing. And with him, she was in control. Always. She picked the time, the place. In his embrace, she was no servant. She was a Queen. And that would be the closest she’d ever get to be one. And then, there’s this one night where he’d canceled on her and she’d still sought him out only to find him devastated. He’d lost a horse to a mysterious illness. And the coincidence hadn’t been lost on her that it was the one they’d rode into town a few days ago… She’d comforted him, lulled him to sleep. And the next day, she’d gone back to treating him like the Tsesarevich he was […] When he’d ultimately cornered her for answers, she’d told him that it was over, that there couldn’t be anything else between them. That he was a weakling for crying his heart out for a stupid horse and that she wasn’t fit to play nurse to a pathetic prince. She needed him to hate her, to despise her with all his heart so that there’d be no room for any love to bloom. Because his father wouldn’t be satisfied with just the distance between them. And next time, he might actually go straight for the kill, instead of taking another of Vasily’s beloved horses. (excerpt from a dabble i wrote)
__________________________________________________
GENYA X ALINA
GENYALINA TAG
My Genya is romantically attracted to Alina but she will not confess to her because she’s convinced she doesn’t deserve Alina’s love (or anyone's love for that matter) as she’s been deceiving her friend and hiding valuable information from her because of her loyalty to The Darkling.
The redhead’s heart had skipped a beat. The Darkling is also leaving tonight. Could it be——   ❛ Did he found her? ❜ The urgency in the tailor’s voice would’ve stopped anyone dead in their tracks. She couldn’t have helped it. She cared about Alina. The girl had been so kind to her and, unlike Genya, Alina had been hundred percent genuine about it. As soon as the word came out of her mouth, she regretted them.Regretted to be a gentle heart in the middle of a war zone. As much as she was loyal to the Darkling, she still wished for Alina to have her freedom. No one deserved to be used as a weapon like the beauty had been since she was a child. (excerpt from an old thread of mine)

CC's New Watch Ranking 2022: #9 - Labyrinth
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
1986, dir. Jim Henson
Every year on Letterboxd, I make a list of the 100 best films I’ve seen for the first time. It’s a fun way to compare movies separated in time, genre, and country of origin, and helps me keep track of what I’m watching! This is a series of posts about my Top 10.
There’s an interesting border right between childhood and teendom. "Tween" is too-cutesy a word to cover it. It’s the age when you recognize there are things that you can never return to - styles of play, relationships with people, happy ignorance. Yet you’re also not ready to strive towards the independence of adulthood, that defining tumult of being a teen. At this liminal age there are so many questions, so much frustration, a growing pile of resentment that you never knew a person could feel. It’s at that exact age that a person could make a thoughtless wish to a goblin king. You know enough to be cruel, enough to know you shouldn’t do it - but you don’t have that hold on your emotions to resist. Jim Henson has immortalized that specific period in amber with his masterful craftsmanship and imagination.
I wrote about this film just a little while ago in last month’s Top 10 post, and my sentiment towards the film has only grown. It’s one of the most well-crafted things I’ve ever seen, from top to bottom. No element - no acting choice, no puppet, no costume or location, is included thoughtlessly. They shot some of the exteriors in a small town in the Hudson Valley - more films ought to embrace the magic inherent to small New York towns! And Jennifer Connoly is simply perfect at embodying that exact age and acting as the audience surrogate through this mystical world. Henson is a *genius* at creating internally consistent worlds. Every element of the Labyrinth is pulled from a myriad of legends that blend perfectly together. We all may have passed by its walls as we wander in dreams.
Something I’ve grown to love is how ugly Hoggle is. He’s scary! His face is too craggly, and his skin is way too realistic. He embodies that very childish fear of the elderly that many people feel - a discomfort that a person could look like that. His strange form makes us wonder if he’s trustworthy. Sarah doesn’t know what to think of him when he first appears. Over the course of the movie he proves to be a person just like the rest of us. Able to be swayed by powerful bullies; willing to rise to heroism when the right moment comes. By the end of the film you pity and empathize with what seemed like a freaky lil goblin at first.
I could say the same for all the creatures you meet during the film’s runtime. Ludo’s monstrosity turns to big-puppy energy a few seconds after you meet him. "Oim Just A Woim" is a perfect lil guy. Even the goblins in Jareth’s court who bray for blood seem to be having an extremely fun time. The world is full of wonder, while never letting up the absolute creepiness and sense of unease. It’s a place you could get lost in, but you know that if Sarah ever did linger for too long, she would get trapped there forever. It’s the perfect embodiment of the Irish fairy tales I knew growing up. The Lords and Ladies have so much to promise, and their wine tastes too sweet. It will be the last sweet thing you ever taste.
I’m a sucker for a movie that ends in a dance party. It’s a great note to end on. The lesson isn’t that Sarah needed one last journey into the imagination. It’s something she can bring with her forever. She can balance fantasy and reality in a way that strengthens her. Escapism can be a trap! I think that’s a very brave message to deliver through a film with a magnetically attractive fantasy world. In an age of corporations trying to resell us the same endless childhood fantasies, I admire a movie that represents such a complete, contained journey. There could be more areas of the goblin world to explore - and I have heard there’s a sidequel in the works - but it makes me happy that Sarah Williams’ journey is complete. She has gained all she needs from her journey. The lessons stay with her as she dances into the night.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you for reading! If you made it this far why don't you give me a follow on Letterboxd, where I post reviews and keep obsessive track of all the movies I watch. Feel free to drop a line if you checked this movie out and want to share your thoughts!
imagine going to an aquarium with steve. he would talk to the animals there. if prompted he WILL have a full conversation with the fish that keeps bubbling at him. he's the one that always reads the name/description plates them spew out random facts when you point to the animal you like the most :) and and he keeps his arm around your waist or gently holds your hand in his and either you pull him or he pulls you to where you want to go </3 he gets there super early, like you get up and go get breakfast at a local sit-down restaurant and get there as the aquarium opens and you're there for when they start making the announcements that they're closing soon or are closed <3 he gets whatever souvenirs you want too, whether that be a keychain, stuffed animal, jewelry, anything you want it's yours now <333 he likes the touch tanks too where he can touch the different sea creatures like stingrays, starfish, some kinds of sharks <33 that's his favorite part of the aquarium :)))
Ayooo robin with a touch starved reader!
robin buckley x reader (no pronouns used but men dni.)
did you mean me?
robin probably already knew you didn't get as much affection as you needed, either when you started to "subtly" started to cuddle up next to her when you were watching a movie or just in general when she saw you with family or friends. she was automatically know the signs of you needing to be touched in some way. whether that be pouting or sulking, or even just going up to her and nuzzling your head into her :( she knows you so well that she can just tell when you need to be hugged or have you hand held, or just be held in general. whenever you're together you'll be hand in hand, nuzzled together, or even just standing/sitting shoulder-to-shoulder. just being near her makes you feel so much better and so much more loved bc we know she has the biggest heart ever being near robin just makes everything feel better and with robin, being touch starved will never happen again.
a/n: i hope this was okay </3 even though im touch starved myself i fear i cannot write it as well and i can feel it, but either way i hope you enjoyed :) - lav
going to an art museum with robin buckley </3 she'd be so excited to go with you. she would read up on the museum you two had picked out to go and she would talk about all the pieces you would see there. she would be like "oh there's ... by ... painted in ..." and you would just look at her in absolute awe of her and how she was able to know all of that and how she's stores all that information in her brain. she would always have the urge to touch the paintings but "robbie you cant do that you'll get us kicked out!" she needs to feel the texture of a monet painting. i do too tbh.
steve harrington gives you flowers all the time. whenever he goes to the grocery store by himself he always brings back flowers for you. on special occasions he specifically goes out to find your favorite flower even if he has to go to a real florist to find them. if the store hes at has a florist he gets you a bouquet and gets a card and gives it to you and starts making dinner and you're in awe with your card and flowers completely in love with him.
laying in bed with steve harrington. even when you two aren't sleeping he holds you in his arms like a teddy bear. when you watch tv in bed or even on the couch he's behind you kind of hunched over and his chin is kind of digging into your shoulder but not too much to where it hurts. he loves being the big spoon (it's a must for him) but sometimes when he has a bad day at work or something is bothering him he just wants to lay on you and sleep. he get on top of you and lets his body completely relax while you play with his hair and scratch his back lighting. he also wants kisses when you do this.
***
Admittedly, taking in a strange stray cat was not the brightest idea one might have had when one lived in a world of faeries and magic and mythical creatures straight out of old wives’ tales.
But it had been cold and rain had been pouring down in sheets, and the poor scrap of a cat had been huddled in a pathetic little ball among the trees of the Milkwoods, its pelt growing soggy in the onslaught.
And if that weren’t pitiful enough, dawn had been creeping ever closer, and—while darkness was dangerous in the human world—nighttime in Faerie was quiet and as generally peaceful as it could get in a land where a wrong turn might spell death-by-endless-dancing. Yes, in Faerie, the darkness meant safety, whilst daylight brought dangers from stories untold.
Consequently, when Jude had stumbled across the sopping black cat—literally, tripped over the thing, as it had lain in the dimming shadows—she had made the somewhat-horrible decision to have mercy on it. She was, regrettably, only human, after all.
“You look as lost as I feel,” she had admitted, crouched before the little creature, hand outstretched. It was staring at her with dark amber eyes, crouched low amongst the wet grass.
“Come now,” she coaxed. “I won’t harm you, little one.”
The animal had sidled up to her, somehow managing to seem hesitant and haughty all at once, and she had scooped it up and held it to her chest, wrapping her coat around its shivering body.
She ran the rest of the way home.
~ ~ ~
Jude wasn’t entirely sure how Madoc would react to her bringing a cat into his house—she had a vague fear that he might view it as a meal, and a brief image of the lizardlike guard who had taken the tip of her finger for a snack flashed through her mind.
She couldn’t leave the poor thing in the stables, lest the stablehands find it and kick it out, or one of the larger, carnivorous mounts decide to gobble it up, and so she slipped in through a servant’s door, pausing for a moment beneath the light of a torch set into the wall to peek into the folds of her jacket at the warm, wet cat huddled against her chest.
“Alright in there?” she asked it, and smiled as the glowing amber eyes blinked back.
Carrying her boots so as not to track mud through the halls, Jude tiptoed up the stairs to her room. She ducked into a guest room once, when she heard voices down the hall, but most of the manor was asleep by this time.
As she snuck through the corridors, she felt, for a moment, like a normal human girl in a normal human world, perhaps creeping in late from a party.
“Sometimes,” Jude breathed, turning in to her room and closing her door behind her, “it’s nice to just pretend, don’t you agree?”
The cat mewed, its little voice creaky.
“Exactly. You get it.” She plunked the creature on her bed as she stripped her coat off and slung it over a chair. The cat jumped down. It had left a little wet patch on her blankets.
“You poor thing,” she exclaimed, “you're soaking!”
Grabbing a towel from the bottom of her wardrobe, Jude sat on the floor and pulled the cat into her lap. It sat patiently as she rubbed at its ears and shoulders, running the towel over its long, thin body. It closed its eyes as she patted at its soft cheeks.
“Cats are funny, you know,” she remarked to it. It opened its amber eyes at the sound of her voice, looking up to meet her gaze.
“So delicate,” she scratched the animal on it's fine jaw bone with a single finger, “and yet, if you were to fall out my window, you could walk away perfectly fine.”
The cat gave what Jude could only interpret as an indignant squawk and dug its claws into the damp fabric of her leggings.
“I'm not going to throw you out my window,” she laughed, stroking its soft head. “Don’t you worry your pretty little kitty mind.”
They sat quietly for a few moments, the only sounds Jude’s breathing and the cat’s rumbling purr as she stroked its drying pelt, until Jude began to shiver in her damp tunic.
The cat meowed, climbing off her lap and kneading its paws on her leg until she went to grab a dry nightgown, and then turning its back to her as she peeled her wet tunic over her head.
What a strange cat, she thought as she shimmied out of her leggings. She smiled. They were already covered in cat hair.
~ ~ ~
Being a human among faeries, Jude had to fight for each moment she spent on the Isles of Elfhame. She had long ago learned that knowledge, while dangerous, was also powerful, and she had made it a priority to know what she could about the goings on of the Faerie court.
So, naturally, when the palace messenger had arrived with urgent news, Jude had taken it upon herself to learn what he knew. He’d refused to divulge anything to anyone except the General himself, and so Jude found herself crouching outside Madoc’s office, her ear pressed to the door as the messenger began to speak.
“What do you mean the prince is missing?” Madoc rumbled. His voice carried a level of concern that Jude could not believe was entirely sincere.
“His Highness Prince Cardan has not been seen nor heard from in three days,” the messenger boy repeated. “High King Eldred wishes you to conduct a search.”
Despite herself, Jude found she held a modicum of respect for the boy; she would have snapped something smart at Madoc’s senseless question, and probably would have received a threat in return.
She held her breath, listening for the Redcap’s next words.
“Where was he last seen?” Madoc sighed. “Or who spoke with him last? Do you have any useful information for me?”
“Only that he was last seen with a pixie girl during the Full Moon Revel four nights prior to this. The girl has been detained but she hasn’t spoken.”
Jude’s chest tightened at the thought of the insolent prince wandering off with some pixie. The girl had probably been tortured for information, although if it were up to her, Jude would have provided ample compensation to the girl for having spent any time alone with Cardan.
Against all conscious efforts, the thought of the prince’s long, slender fingers sliding up her skin crept into her mind, accompanied by a picture of his face—his cruel mouth and his dark eyes—jeering down at her. Her stomach lurched and she wrestled the nauseating images from her mind.
Madoc’s armour clinked as he marched toward his door.
Jude spun on her heel and ran.
~ ~ ~
“Kitty, I’m back,” Jude called into the empty darkness of her room. She tried to pitch her voice softly, but her nerves were still frayed from the messenger’s news.
The cat slunk out from under her bed, a living shadow with bright eyes, and watched intently as she set two small bowls down for him against the wall.
After dashing away from her foster father’s office, Jude had stopped by the kitchen to find some water and scraps of meat for her furry visitor.
By the time she’d made it back to the relative safety of her room, the faerie boy had already left, as had Madoc. If he had caught any sign of her presence outside his door, he had either deemed it irrelevant or had decided he would deal with her later.
The cat mewed, stretching up to hook his claws into her leggings. He had devoured the meal.
“Someone was hungry.” Jude gave a small laugh and scooped the feline up. During the few days he’d been with her, she’d discovered that she quite enjoyed his company. He was a friend she could confide in without worrying her secrets would get out, and more than that, he was a presence she could stand to be around.
Jude pulled off her boots and plopped cross legged onto her bed, cuddling the cat in her lap, stroking his silken fur.
“Enjoyed dinner?” she asked him.
He said, “Mrrow,” and yawned in her face, showing off long, sharp fangs.
“Oh, really? And how was your day?” she hummed, to which he grumbled in response. She liked to make idle conversation with the animal, as though she understood him.
“Well, my day was lovely, thank you for asking.” She thought for a moment. “But it was a bad kind of lovely. You know when you get a bruise and it hurts but you keep pressing on it because you like the pain? Like that, but opposite. Like the sun is making the clouds shimmer, and it’s beautiful, but those clouds are going to cause a flood. The sky is still lovely, but it’s the kind of lovely that hurts.”
The cat’s eyes were fixed on her, shining that bright amber as he stared in the way only cats could. It made her uncomfortable.
“No, I suppose I’m not making any sense, am I?” She pulled the cat onto her chest as she lay back, staring up into nothingness, and stroked his back. She pretended the deep rumble of his purr was the thunder of a summer storm, shaking the earth before bathing it in a warm rainfall.
“I’m worried,” she admitted at last, shattering the spell. “It’s been three nights since he’s been in class, and I wonder where he could have gotten to. Why he’s not coming—not that I care about him, specifically. I just like to keep an eye on what he does and the specific messes he decides to make.”
The cat looked at her sidelong, his gleaming amber eyes pinning her with a look that she couldn’t quite place, although it was decidedly human.
“Don’t look at me like that,” she scolded, although the cat, being a cat, did not heed her request.
She sighed. Outside her window, the sky began to lighten as dawn crept closer, the daytime sky stretching up to meet the stars through fog and wispy clouds. Her kitty snuggled into her, tucking his head beneath her chin.
“I wonder if maybe he’ll never come back,” she mused, watching as the first drops of rain tapped at the glass, sparkling in the lamplight.
The cat purred, sounding as though he agreed, which Jude found unfathomably funny.
“I think you and I get along rather well,” she told him.
“Mrrmm,” the cat grumbled, patting at her face with soft paws. He turned his amber gaze on her and she smiled, scratching the cat behind his ear with one gentle finger. She felt warm and content, listening to his purr, feeling his small weight atop her chest as she breathed.
“Maybe,” she hummed, letting her eyes drift back to the rain outside, “we were meant to find each other.”
The cat’s rumbling purr echoed in the space of her room, and Jude felt like she was home.
NOCTASIS DORM - BIRTHDAY VENUE
SCENE I
PUPPET: [Upon this blessed day, we bring to you an offering that seeks to satisfy your whims. On behalf of us, servants, we present to you the one which the fates considered worthy: MALLEUS DRACONIA.]
VITA: My~ What a surprise.
MALLEUS: Hm.
VITA: Oh? Does something trouble you, King of the Night? I certainly do hope that the decor is not displeasing to you of all people~
MALLEUS: Well, you certainly are a bold one. To call out to me so openly. Especially with the use of that puppet...
VITA: 'Tis an old relic~ From the days of yore, when our esteemed Professor Yaga was still roaming the world~ Charming, is it not?
MALLEUS: Hm. "The Glorious Horror."
VITA: So you have indeed heard~ How wonderfully you keep up with the human world, my Lord.
MALLEUS: Mocking me like this... The Death Mages must simply not know any fear at all, I suppose.
VITA: Oh, what a kind compliment~ My heart is pounding with expectations and excitement to hear the King of the Night lavish such praise upon me~
MALLEUS: ....
VITA: Come now, do not look so suspicious~ It was merely a jest, after all. I have invited you here for other matters, after all~
MALLEUS: That is true. Considering that- Happy Birthday to the heir apparent of the Dies household.
VITA: ... You are a petty one, after all. How cute~
But, hm? Oh my~ What a most exquisite present. Though I assume that it would not have given you any trouble to procure such an item, has it not?
MALLEUS: The Witch of the Night had been a fairy hailing from a reclusive part of our homeland, though her legend seems to be more widespread amongst humans. In the Valley, it seems that only Lilia dares speak of her openly.
VITA: She was considered a traitor for fostering that human child, after all~ And your kind does not let go of grudges all that easily either, is that not so~?
MALLEUS: Oh? Are you insinuating that humans are perhaps different?
VITA: My~ Certainly not. Humans are fickle creatures, after all. To uproot them would take nothing more than a simple tug and a pull. 'Tis quite amusing, is it not?
MALLEUS: .... Hm.
VITA: Oh? What a cute wondering expression you have, my Lord~ Does something trouble you quite so much?
MALLEUS: No, I was merely considering how distant you seem to be from your peers.
VITA: Hm, does it seem so to you~? Then perhaps this present was specifically chosen with such an idea in mind? I am truly touched by how considerate you are~
This mound of dirt - 'tis from the graveyard where the Witch had held her nightly meetings with the ghosts and ghouls, is it not?
MALLEUS: Indeed. The royal family had sealed off the landmark and only authorized personnel is allowed to wander around there now. Lilia was kind enough to procure some for me.
VITA: 'Tis said that the very dirt there was imbued with strong magic. The works of the Witch were thus considered especially potent and powerful. I do wonder if the rumours are true~ Then I might be able to prepare some notes and poultices to test its prowess and the results that it could yield...
Aaah~ I am already shivering with expectations~
MALLEUS: This shall be a good occasion to find out. After all, even in the Valley of Thorns, the fame of the Death Mages is unrivalled. Most of our generals still remember your... contributions.
VITA: My~ If you are not careful, my Lord, I might even accuse you of courting me, fufu~
MALLEUS: What amusing things you say, heir apparent.
VITA: Only so that I may entertain you~ After all, us of lower birth must make sure to pay our respects to those in charge. Who knows what thunder and lightning might rain down upon us if we fail to conform? Hm?
MALLEUS: Was that what it was? What an odd woman you are...
VITA: Fufu~
Tumblr media
SCENE II
MALLEUS: This puppet of yours... It has instructed me to play a game with you.
VITA: Has it now? How cute~ I do wonder just what sort of game the King of the Night might be good at? Perhaps burning forests to the ground?
MALLEUS: Oh? Are you perhaps asking for a demonstration?
VITA: If you would be so kind~
PUPPET: [Warning. Warning. Damage dealt to the venue will result in the guest's removal. I repeat, damage dealt to the venue will result in the guest's removal.]
MALLEUS: ....
VITA: Hm~ You have suddenly turned quite unwilling. Could it be that you do not wish to part with me just yet~? My, you are quite adorable, my Lord~ I wonder what my husband might think of you courting me so boldly~
MALLEUS: Do you know nothing but to spew jests? Death Mage?
VITA: My apologies~ I simply must find your company too charming~
MALLEUS: ...
PUPPET: [Shall I proceed with the game?]
MALLEUS: If you will.
PUPPET: [Understood. I shall now proceed to ask a question that Iovita Despoina Dies will answer and which Malleus Draconia will be tasked to interpret.]
VITA: Ah~ So 'tis like such~
PUPPET: [Question: One day a bluebird suddenly flies through a window into your room and is trapped. Something about this lost bird attracts you, and you decide to keep it. But to your surprise, the next day the bird has changed colour from blue to yellow. This very special bird changes colour again overnight -- on the morning of the third day it is bright red, and on the fourth, it turns completely black. What colour is the bird when you wake up on the fifth day?]
MALLEUS: What an odd question... Why would the bird change colours again?
VITA: Oh? What darling things you say, my Lord. Of course, the bird should change colours again~ Would it not be simply wonderful if this odd bird would turn to gold before you? Cold, unmoving and eternal~ This should be quite an enchanting sight~
MALLEUS: Is that so? I see no point in it changing from black to gold...
PUPPET: [This test is meant to examine how a person deals with difficulties and uncertainty. Malleus Draconia please interpret Iovita Despoina Dies' answer to the best of your abilities.]
MALLEUS: ... Lilia once told a story from the Isle of Lamentation, about a king who was cursed to transform everything he touched into gold.
VITA: Ah, yes. That old tale. In the end, this king had made his own beloved daughter into a statue of gold and renounced his throne so he could grieve her in a small cottage by the shores.
MALLEUS: Indeed. That is the tale I had heard about.
VITA: Hm~ If I am not wrong, is my Lord suggesting that I am the same as the king in the tale?
MALLEUS: No, I rather find you to be a capable woman.
VITA: Oh~?
MALLEUS: As Prince of the Valley, Lilia has explained to me just how important it is for heads of state to be on friendly terms with each other. The Death Mages remain a controversial topic within the Valley, thus when the news of your engagement to Shroud has reached us, we were unsure how to proceed. Suddenly, two great houses came together, both posing problems on their own.
VITA: I do remember our first function together~ You were such an imposing sight.
MALLEUS: You were quite different back then.
VITA: Do not-
MALLEUS: Black had always suited your House. But Lilia remarked that you were much clever than we were giving you credit. After talking with Shroud, and you, I tend to agree with him.
VITA: OH?
MALLEUS: The Death Mages had always been feared for their abilities. Even when the tide of war had given over to your side due to your family, they continued to shun your people. Is that not so? I would have thought your whole lineage had been wiped out. Then, your engagement was announced.
VITA: Hm~ Does your prattling have any meaning then?
MALLEUS: Oh? Are you indisposed? I was merely trying to offer my congratulations to you. A woman who has taken matters into her own hands and regained her family's honour, rising from the ashes as you have. It is a most curious skill that you humans have. I believe that you embody it perfectly. To not falter even in the face of adversity, to rise to every opportunity - I find it difficult to ascertain whether you are merely foolhardy or fearless?
VITA: Your hesitance speaks volumes, my Lord~ But I am a kind and merciful woman, after all~
MALLEUS: Hmph. How generous of you.
Tumblr media
SCENE III
PUPPET: [Please proceed to the last part of the interview.]
MALLEUS: That, hm... There is another question for you, Dies.
VITA: Oh? Is that so? I am trembling with excitement, my Lord~
MALLEUS: ... Then, I shall proceed with this last part of the interview.
"If you had to choose one to be your sister, who would that be?"
VITA: Oh~ What a silly little querry~ 'Tis, of course, none but my beloved Agatha who could ever measure up to such a position.
MALLEUS: 'Agatha'... I am not familiar with this person.
VITA: What a shame. My dear Agatha is a most charming girl whose cuteness is unsurpassed so far~ I do believe it would be quite pleasant to have her as a little sister given how much time we spend together already~
MALLEUS: Is that so?
VITA: Indeed~ She is a very intuitive person who understands me rather well, you see. There had been one incident last week, when I had mentioned in passing that my poor Larna had an upset stomach. The breed is highly susceptible to acid burns, as you might know, and he had become immune to medication over the years. My dear husband usually ensures my supply of those pills, but it seems that production was stalled for the moment.
That is when my beloved Agatha had come to my aid~
MALLEUS: Did she buy the medication for you then?
VITA: Oh, no~ My dear Agatha has no such funds, and it was not a problem of money in any case. Rather... Ah, well. 'Tis best to focus on the story, no~?
You see, my dear Agatha is a most astute student of alchemy~ Even Professor Yaga has praised her skills. And she is a most kind girl as well. Without any prompting she presented me with a medicine which would calm my dear Larna's discomfort quite easily. Ah, it would be simply a blessing to be related to such a capable person like her.
MALLEUS: I see. Perhaps as a single child I simply do not see the allure... But, Dies, if I remember correctly, you are the eldest daughter of your House, are you not?
VITA: ... Those girls are very silly creatures. They take that woman's words at face value and never seek to question anything at all, simply remaining comfortable in their own lack of knowledge. I cannot abide to such people who would let themselves be subjugated like this. We are nothing but strangers to each other, sharing the same house. Even my dear Larna is treated as nothing more than a beast.
'Tis perhaps best that you are not saddled with such burdens, my Lord~ Loneliness can be quite discomforting after all.
MALLEUS: ... Indeed. Perhaps you are right. Agatha does seem best suited to be your sibling in that regard.
VITA: I am so pleased to see that you agree~
Besides, if you had only seen my dear Agatha's charming smile I am certain you would fall as deeply in love with her as I have~
MALLEUS: Hm.
[*]
PUPPET: [Congratulations. The interview portion has been completed. Please proceed to the last event of the celebrations. A bottle has already been prepared for you.]
VITA: Oh my~ It seems that even though I have escaped the practical jokes of my dorm I shall be punished regardless~
MALLEUS: I understand that this customary in human culture, however. Then - please prepare yourself, Dies.
VITA: Very well~ I shall trust, my Lord to deliver unto me this amusing gift~
MALLEUS: Very well. I wish you a Happy Birthday, Vita Dies.
if I don’t have tendinitis by the end of writing this series, I am officially immortal. anyways here’s the long awaited Laito and Cordelia analysis: Part I
Hi, Corn here! Holy shit I’ve been wanting to write this for forever now; idk how long this series will be but uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I’m gonna wing it.
Lemme get something REAL clear before I begin. Because for some fucking reason I still see people trying to say that Cordelia did not molest/rape/etc Laito. Cuz she did. It’s called grooming and manipulation, sweetie. And I’ll explain that too.
Also, I’m not defending or justifying Cordelia’s actions (there’s a difference between explaining why something happens and defending it. For example, we know racism is harmful and awful, but explaining what it is and why it happens isn’t defending it). I also don’t defend Laito’s nonconsensual or abusive actions either on here, I also wanna clarify that. I just merely explain his theorized rationale and psyche.
God I don’t even know where to start, or where this is exactly going to end, but my god, time to pop off. I’m going to divide this into sections as well.
Also I think this is usually a given with all the Laito stuff I put on here, but, spoilers ahead! And trigger warnings galore! Pedophilia/rape/abuse/grooming/depression/anxiety are the ones I can think of now, but all of those are really a given on this blog. Just wanna emphasize it because I’m gonna go deep into em.
As always,,,,, rant under the cut~!
Section 1: Before the Storm (insert Life is Strange joke here)
There’s quite a bit of back and forth about where Cordelia started doing this. I just finished Dark Fate and the conversation between the triplets caught my eye. Laito mentions in his Dark Fate Ecstacy Epilogue that implies Cordelia wasn’t abusive at first. It’s revealed how Karlheinz used Cordelia just for his Adam and Eve experiment to create a new human race, which is why he blatantly ignores her after courting her and making her have kids that she didn’t even wanna have. Which is. Yikes. I’d say that’s a form of coercive pregnancy abuse.
The conversation turns to Laito who then says that Cordelia lost her mind due to of sexual frustration and then hurt the triplets. Sexual frustration is a real and common thing, but I’m gonna explain the potential logistics of this being turned into abuse.
Sexual frustration in general can be described as a sense of “dissatisfaction stemming from a discrepancy between a person’s desired and achieved sexual activity” (source). I know it’s from Wikipedia but the phrasing of that definition is just too perfect. (also Wikipedia’s good just to get the basics from ;) ) Sexual frustration can happen from physical, mental, emotional, social, religious, or spiritual barriers. Everyone has some kind of ideal sexual activity, whether it be innate and or learned (like getting used to sexual acts over time, whether that be from a traumatic or consensual experience). However, I can safely say that Cordelia has high libido, regardless of the reason.
Oxytocin, my absolute favorite hormone to talk about, is huge in this case. Touch starvation (what I’d say most of us are going through now because of quarantine) also depends on oxytocin level. We’re social creatures, and we need touch in some way. Having sexual needs is also not a thing to be shameful of (if you do have them), since that is also very human and very biological. Oxytocin is needed for so many things! From social bonding, sexual bonding, reproduction in general, and general emotional wellbeing. Everyone has different levels of oxytocin needs. With a lack of oxytocin, whether it causes sexual frustration or touch starvation (or both), it can create fear, anxiety, and or depression. This has to do with my favorite part of the brain, the amygdala. It’s this lil almond shaped part (hence, amygdala, which is Latin for “almond”) is responsible for empathy, your fight and flight response, as well as SO many other things. I’ll talk more about the amygdala later, because I’m getting off track.
Back to the logistics of oxytocin deficiency and abuse. Basically, I didn’t initially think that touch starvation or sexual frustration could get so bad that someone would resort to abuse. Haven’t found anything that supports that either. However, since it is linked to depression and stress, I do believe Cordelia would have other underlying psychological issues that made her response to depression and stress just so much worse. It’s kind of obvious that Karlheinz absurd her, and when someone goes through a traumatic episode, there’s different coping mechanisms or different emotions are triggered. Maybe even before Karlheinz she had issues, but we will never know. I just know that Cordelia seems susceptible to some kind of manic episodes, such as mood swings and intense behaviors.
Dark Fate confirms that Karlheinz most likely used this, and used Cordelia due to her Founder blood and that her psyche was “optimal” to eventually have the triplets kill her. Karl can see the future and past etc, I believe that was confirmed in Lost Eden too. Anyways, all of this paves the way to what Cordelia did to the triplets.
Section 2: The Beginning
There’s been quite a bit of back and forth between when did Cordelia start sexually abusing Laito? We know that Kanato and Ayato were abused when they were young, but there’s no flashbacks in Laito’s routes that depicts him being a child (to my knowledge). Not saying Laito wasn’t abused when he was a child, but I can assure you that the first time Cordelia had explicit sex with Laito was when he was older.
Special thanks to @vampiretsuki and @amiecris for helping me think this through on Zara’s server!
There hasn’t been any flashbacks that specifically show us the first time that happened. However, I believe that there was a flashback in HDB that shows one of the first times. Here’s a scene from Laito’s Dark Epilogue:
Cordelia: ー Laito…Laito… Laito: …Hm? Is something the matter? Cordelia: I have a favor to ask. It just isn’t enough. You can do it, right Laito? Laito: You really are something…So that’s why you came to me again? Cordelia: Fufufu…That’s right, Laito. Come on, quickly… Laito: …Guess it can’t be helped. I’ll love you plenty. Cordelia: Aah…My cute Laito~ I love you. I really do. Laito: I can do it…right? Cordelia: Of course, Laito. Now, quickly…
First of all, ew. Second of all, Laito’s diction implies that this was maybe the second or third time this occurred. He asks a question, and ends it with “again.” We know by this that it is not the first time, but the question also means that Laito might not have expected to occur again. His tone also implies some surprise to it, at least in my ears. His other question, “I can do it, right?” screams hesitance to me. If this scene took place down the line, or after many times he did this with Cordelia, I don’t believe he’d be some level of surprised or hesitance.
Now, you may be thinking, “Oh! What about Ayato and Laito’s Versus II CD?! Didn’t it mention that Laito wasn’t in the triplet’s shared bed 9/10 times?!” And yeah, if you remembered that, kudos to you! Yes, you’re totally right. I thought this was some inconsistent writing, but I don’t believe so. I believe Cordelia was grooming Laito as a kid. For some reason, grooming never came to my mind, it was Tsuki who mentioned grooming, and Cris also backed that notion up. It’s not confirmed if Cordelia planned to do this to Laito in the beginning (which I doubt, I think she sexually exploited him on a whim due to sexual frustration and because Karl wouldn’t; and the suitors she had wasn’t “enough” for her) but I think it’s implied that it happened (from the earlier excerpt). As for grooming, here’s an excerpt from the VS II CD:
Ayato: You weren’t even there 9 out of the 10 times. Laito: So you knew, Ayato-kun. Ayato: … Laito: You know, I have been thinking how I came to be the person I am today. I am still wondering why wasn’t it Ayato-kun or Kanato-kun.
God that’s so SAAAD! This is why Laito being groomed from a young age would make sense. It would also make sense as to why he was so dismissive and hesitant to help Ayato out. In Ayato’s flashbacks, Laito is there, but doesn’t interfere when Cordelia gets into the picture. Laito tends to run away from his problems, and this manifests even when he’s a kid. To further the support of the claim, it’s definitely not farfetched that Cordelia would do something to a child, especially her own child. She used Kanato for his singing voice when she was having sex..... yikes. That’s another form of sexual exploitation. So uh, let’s dive right into see what grooming does,,,,, *opens another private window* Here’s the source I’ll be using too.
Grooming is a process that is typically used to sexually exploit children. Ewewewewewewew. It can be a quick or gradual process. It’s basically harnessing the trust in children utilizing constant contact. There’s not much explicit evidence describing this with Cordelia, but if Laito wasn’t sexually exploited when he was younger in the fashion he was “used” to when he got older, again I do think he was groomed. It would make sense as to why he either avoided conflict with Cordelia as a child. Either that was his own disposition (which to a degree I think it is), or maybe he was confused about Cordelia’s actions towards his other brothers, since he “loved” Cordelia. Young Laito typically fell silent when Cordelia entered the room, which again could be because of his disposition, fear, or he knows not to say much in front of her.
During the grooming process, a child can result in not being able to see coercion and deception. In general, kids 7 years old and under biologically are not able to differentiate persuasion from their own decisions, which results in the laws surrounding advertisements catering to children. Fun fact. I know we’re dealing with vampires and so their brains might not work like that, but from what I’ve seen, they’re pretty human. Also, we’re still not sure about their ages or how vampire biological ages work, but bear with me on this.
Another stage of grooming involves cutting off the child’s support system, whether it be family, friends, etc. I made a comment in an analysis that Laito doesn’t have a support system, and at the very least, his brothers. But even that is pretty weak. You know how it’s mentioned how Laito wasn’t even in bed with Ayato and Kanato most of the time? That’s probably due to Cordelia weakening Laito’s bonds with them. Furthermore, on the website I’m using to get information from, it says this:
Control and alienation is exercised in the following ways:
[more bullet points here]
- creating conflicting feelings of love and hate, protection and exploitation, guilt and innocence, entitlements and duties.
OOOOOHHHHHH BBBBBOOOOOYYYYYY!!!!! Ayato and Kanato say that they fucking hate Cordelia. But... Laito’s the only one that says he “loves” her. He also says that he hates her. So, from this, I think it might be safe to say that Cordelia groomed Laito as a child, and continued to use those tactics when he was older.
Well, I’m gonna end it here for part one. That was quite the ride, but I hope you enjoyed nonetheless! Next part, we’ll be getting into Laito when he’s older and the effects it had on him, along with some other crazy dark sides of psychology. I still won’t be answering many of my inbox questions until this huge analysis is finished, sorry! I kinda wanna focus on this first. But feel free to hit me up with any questions! I’ll still get to them :)
Any Cordelia/Laito questions will most likely be answered in this series, just a heads up. But if you have any questions pertaining to Cordelia/Laito right now or after the series, feel free to hit me up still! Any clarifying questions for this post or anything in general are always encouraged as well if you’re confused or want me to elaborate on something :)
Part two is planned to be up next week! See ya then ;) -Corn
Name | Age | Race | Status Mod Paragraph
Tommy | 16 | Half-elf | Commoner
Tommy was born and raised in the town of Alnwick, living with his mom for the first few years of his life as his father worked in the capital city of Somritas as a knight. He was raised completely unaware of his status of being a half-elf or the fact that his mother was, in fact, an elf. Now, 16 years old with a dead mother, he continues to live his life believing he’s human--not even showing the telltale signs of being a half-elf because of a pendant he’s worn since he was a toddler. Not that he knows that’s what it does. Loud, rambunctious, mischievous--he always finds the time to harass his friends or flirt with pretty girls who happened to be nearby. Best friends with Tubbo and with a brotherly relationship with Dream, he’s out thriving as an extrovert. Though it’s safe to mention he’s completely banned from the capital city,
Tubbo | 16 | Druid | Knight
Tubbo's entire existence is illegal, pretty much. Born to two druids, he himself is also a druid. When he was 6, his camp was attacked. All of his people were killed. The only survivors were him and his baby brother. After fleeing, they survived on their own for a week. They were soon picked up by another camp, which Tubbo lived in for 9 years. When he was 15, his camp sent him to the city. His brother stayed behind, while Tubbo made the three-day long journey to the city. Soon after his arrival, he became a knight. He has served ever since. Despite being magical, he appears fairly human. The only true way to tell he is a druid is the triskelion tattoo he has, which is just below the crook of his elbow on his right forearm. Within the city, his closest friend is Niki. She was the first one to find out about his magic, and he genuinely trusts her with his life. Outside of the city, his best friend is Tommy. Considering he can't go inside the city, Tubbo usually goes outside the walls to visit. Tommy was the second to find out. Saying he trusts Tommy with his life isn't true, mainly because he would be the one endangering it to begin with.
Dream | 19 | Human | Prince/Royalty
Prince Dream von Galatea the 1st, born August 12th, 1599, is the sole male heir to the well known kingdom, Somritas, in the northern Adrestia region. He is a very respected and competent prince to his royal adversaries and renowned across the land as an excellent warrior. Dream trains almost daily and vigorously, so much so that many outsiders try their hand at challenging him but have yet to beat him. The man greatly idolizes the old “fairy tales” of the human hero saving others from the monstrous non-human races. Though, this then causes the prince to have a bit of a Hero Complex. When a situation involves or pertains to someone he cares for and is emotionally invested in, he’s generally a very impulsive and sensitive man that will end up following his feelings in the heat of the moment rather than his rationalized thoughts. Other than that, however, Dream’s quick at adapting to new situations and thinking on the spot, especially when placed under pressure. To add on, he’s fiercely protective and compassionate to those under his kingdom’s rule and is seen often interacting with the townsfolk in the Town Square, thus his subjects adore the kind prince wholeheartedly. In order to rise to his rightful place as King, he must venture outside the castle walls and vanquish countless magical non-human races, thus proving himself capable to his father. Subsequently along the way, Dream’s close minded beliefs will get upturned as he begins to discover not everything in his kingdom is as fair and just as he once thought.
George | 20 | Changeling | Upperclass Tailor
George Pruitt is a fairly upper-class tailor born and raised in Somritas. Both of his parents are tailors, and he is one of the most skilled tailors in the city. Many members of royalty favor him and ask specifically sew their clothes for important events. He is Prince Dream's favorite tailor as well. His upbringing was regular and nothing strange happened, but around 14 years old, he started getting signs of magic. He withdrew from people and really only socialized with Dream, which is why they're so close. He tries to seem as human as possible, and hates that he's magical.
Niki | 18 | Human | Commoner
Niki lives in the northern Adrestia region in the kingdom of Somritas as a baker. She owns her own shop where she she sells breads, pastries, cookies, and the like. The unofficial hub of all mysterious strangers, Niki seems to know everyone and everything. While raised on the culture of magical non-humans being bad, her encounters throughout the years change her mind to be more open and welcome to everyone. She makes friends very easily and her shop is one of the most visited in the kingdom.
Techno | 19 | Cursed Human | Prince/Royalty
Technoblade is the prince of the kingdom of Strata, a kingdom in the Adrestia region and one that is allied to the kingdom of Somritas. He was cursed the night before his fifteenth birthday by an unknown intruder in the castle and was shunned by the general public in the kingdom because of his now ‘monstrous’ appearance. He left the kingdom even though the king and queen wanted him to stay and is now searching for someone to undo his curse, which brought him to Somritas. He stays out of the actual kingdom because he would be burned if he ever went inside due to his appearance, so he just camps out in the forest close to it and only goes to the very outskirts of the marketplace and the black market to find someone that can break the curse. Techno is extremely blunt and he’s not afraid to call someone out for being an idiot, but only when he’s comfortable with that person. He hates interaction with people that he doesn’t know and pretty much never talks to anyone unless they talk to him first. He kinda bounces around in different groups of people, but stays with Dream mostly.
Wilbur | 25 | Cursed Human | Outlaw
Wilbur was born in a family that practiced magic. One day, they were caught and the royalty put them up to be executed, but Wilbur able to escape. He would steal things on the streets and retreat to the woods at night. He did this for a couple of years, but when he was 21 he got caught and was scheduled for a public execution. He got one of his eyes removed but was able to escape by setting something on fire as a distraction. He retreated to the forest once again where he practiced witchcraft and lived somewhat peacefully. Then he met Tommy.
Fundy | 20 | Silver dragon-touched human | Traveling Healer
Fundy is a mysterious traveler that works as a healer for money, slipping in and out of towns and leaving little more than a healed patient or two and fleeting memories of him behind. He leaves little opportunity for anyone to get close, and he always carries a wooden fox mask.
Philza | Ealy 30s | Aasimar | Commoner
Phil lives outside of the kingdom, on the edge of a forest with his wife. Aside from tending to his animals and small farm he makes furniture for the more wealthy members of society. He’s an all around kind and genuine normal guy, he’s always willing to lend a helping hand. Sometimes though, when the light hits right, an ethereal glow seems to take form in the shape of a ring above his head. Despite being a regular ol' guy, rumors seem to follow him wherever he goes. Many stories spread about a winged figure slaying beasts either in traps or by their own sword, swooping out of the sky to defend people, leaving nothing left of once feared monsters. Sadly, absolutely none of the rumors are talking about him, couldn’t be. Phil’s just ordinary.
Eret | 20 | Cursed Human | Noble (Court member)
Eret is from a small town on the northern coast of Somritas. They was raised there for the first 17 years of their life surrounded by elves and magic users the entire time. It was a hidden safe haven for elves within the kingdom, a vast majority of its population being the magical creatures. The village was full of so much magic that it ended up causing the humans who lived alongside the elves to become magic sensors, hence why Eret is, well, a magic sensor. They ended up doing something, that something never being disclosed as Eret refuses to explain. It ended up with the high council of elves within the town to be LIVID. They became petty. They cursed him. They made the kid appear magical, ruining Eret’s humanity and forcing them to look similar to an elf with glowing eyes. But it backfired and destroyed their retinas, completely blinding them. So, fueled with the want for revenge, Eret turned on their village and ratted out the magical population. It just so happened to be that they ratted the village out to a royal court member. This gave them a pardon and an audience with the king who gave them an offer. They could help the king as a magic sensor and spy and continue to sniff out the magical congregations or they could burn with the village. Eret chose to stay alive, so they helped the royals torch the village.
