#separating shipping from character/content appreciation

Honestly, I think that guy is just really autistic... and I say this as an autistic person. He obviously has no filter at all. I wish he would stop tagging people all the time and starting things constantly under every single post. There will never be the hard confirmation he wants, like you say totk and ss is as far as it will probably ever go.
Like, I really can't see them *ever* doing more than the strong subtext they put in totk. I'd be surprised if they even get *close* to doing something similar again. Having the princess move into his house and having Link bridal carry her shirtless, etc, was already honestly kind of explicit by E for Everyone Nintendo standards lol. I never even expected them to go so far with it. I expected them to have destroyed the hateno house with sky island debris, or had her live with Impa, or something like that. I wasn't expecting straight up fanservice for all the post-botw fanfiction and fanart made over the years. Someone on the development team was clearly browsing zelink on pixiv (well, some old totk interview even said that the team loved all the botw fanart and it kept them going through totk's development, so I'm like 99% sure that's actually true even lol). But they'll never just come out and say "this is canon" straight up into the camera and we need to accept that.
Honestly, I'm guessing they will probably make the next zelink more platonic if anything after how much they pushed them with ss and botw/totk. I'm a huge romantic zelink lover, botw/totk zelink is my favorite, but I honestly *want* the next versions to be platonic so that there is an actual contrast between versions of them between games (and ok, maybe part of me selfishly doesn't want my beloved enemies-ish-to-lovers tragic royalty x servant to domestic fluff zelink to be upstaged by a zelink that acts obnoxiously less subtle with their feelings and therefore have people call them "better" but that's irrelevant)
I haven't honestly looked into his account - but tbh he's not the only one? I just notice it with him a lot and i'm like "please please separate Zelda from shipping. u can appreciate Princess Zelda outside of her theorized relationship with Link" (this is more of like...a dig at people in general who make shipping be everything when it comes to a character..especially female characters because now I'm struggling to still do a deep dive into Mipha's character without people immediately screaming about how her relationship with link is canon)
anyways fandom behavior aside lowkey i agree? The thing is that even if developers came out and was like "We intended zelink to be canon" people are still gonna argue about it (like "wELL THEY DIDN'T HUG OR KISS ON SCREEN") so tbh its not even worth fighting about it - coming from a fire emblem fan lmao yes I still remember the sumia incident
I lowkey want the next "zelink" to be platonic because...idk the same reason as you. Changing it up. I miss WW zelda and Link's dynamic because to me they're besties and are goofy. if the next one is romantic then they better get a hell of a good story because they already covered the childhood romance and the dramatic slowburn with skyward sword and botw/totk (and tragic "what ifs" from OoT but you didn't hear it from me!!!!!). That being said I would be disappointed if it was on the level of Twilight Princess so idk some sort of connection between them would be nice

So Elon bought Twitter. I'm honestly not gonna push away Twitter newcomers, but if you're in the MCYT fandom you need to understand that the social etiquette and expectations and culture here are very different than over on Twitter. So as someone who's been an active part of mcytblr for two years now, I'd like to offer some thoughts and advice!
One: Shipping. MCYT communities on Tumblr have always tended to lean more tolerant towards shipping of roleplay characters due to the idea that this is a space for fans primarily. The creators who visit or actively use Tumblr like Eret and Martyn understand that this is a fan space primarily, and don't bother us for the content we make, and we don't bother them with it.
The number one worst thing you could do is share shipping content with creators who have not asked for it. This is a huge social faux pas here. Secondly, on the other end — writing callout posts for shippers here isn't gonna fly. Even for RPF shippers and people who may ship boundary-breaking pairings, our default is usually to not engage with these people rather than publicly call them out. It makes the space a healthier place for everyone and makes it much less likely that CCs may come across content they are uncomfortable with. It's also considered a social faux pas to ask CCs their opinions and boundaries on shipping, since that's bringing it up when they didn't ask!
Speaking of shipping, people typically don't mind you maintagging ship content so long as you also tag it as shipping so people can filter it. For Hermitcraft the tag is hermitshipping, Life Series has trafficshipping, and the lesser known DSMP tag is dsmpshipping.
Two: Reblogging. This is something a lot of newer users tend to struggle with. There is no algorithm on Tumblr, at least not one that works, so content creators rely on you reblogging their work in order for it to spread. If you see a fic or piece of art you enjoy, please reblog it! I often reblog art for MCYT fandoms I'm not even personally in.
Three: Tagging (again). There are a wide variety of tags you can use for your content! The most common tags you'll want to use are "mcyt" and "mcytblr", and any relevant series, pairing/group or character/CC names. However, please don't use the tag "minecraft"! Minecraft has an entirely separate fanbase on Tumblr that we co-exist with and have some overlap with, but don't necessarily appreciate seeing MCYT content in their tags. Any tag with "minecraft" in it is also a no-no, such as "minecraft youtubers" or "minecraft championships". Please use shorthands!
Four: Opinions on MCYT drama tend to be very different here than they are on Twitter. For instance, you should assume by default that most bloggers here either like or are completely neutral towards "problematic CCs" like Schlatt. But also, we tend to be very against spreading anything originating from leakers, and we also tend to not be fond of making posts "holding CCs accountable" for things they did years ago. Generally, mcytblr prefers to be a more drama-free community, and if you do engage in discourse, many would appreciate you tagging it as such!
Five: CCs do not need you to babysit them.
Generally speaking you will see a lot of jokes and memes on mcytblr that wouldn't fly on Twitter, and it is generally looked down upon to try to speak on behalf of CCs personal boundaries — they are grown adults, and you are a stranger! Calling out or harassing people for "breaking boundaries" is mostly just going to get you looked at strangely, especially if you don't have a source for your claims. Most of us will stop doing something if asked, but we don't need stans to tell us to! CCs can speak for themselves when uncomfortable.
Six: Most mcytblr blogs don't want CC notices. There are quite a few CCs who are active here, but the community is chill with them as they don't tend to talk about us elsewhere and allow us to do our own thing. We do not, however, like encouraging CCs to join Tumblr or to follow us or reblog our posts — many people here actually prefer being out of sight of CCs and many of us consider it rude to seek out attention from CCs outside of sending the occasional ask.
Please treat CCs kindly and don't gawk at them like you just saw a celebrity on the street — the ones who are active here are just Tumblr users like the rest of you! Seeing Eret reblog fanart or respond to an ask isn't something to point out.
While we joke about Twitter users joining, we don't actually have anything against you guys, it's just that we've built a very different community here and ask that you respect it and the etiquette we've come to establish! Thank you, and I hope you enjoy your stay on mcytblr ^_^

My Opinions on Harry Potter Ships (controversial but not for shock value)
I have tagged the ships that I talk negatively about under anti, so check the tags before you read this. Keep in mind there are a few here that I feel iffy on but did not tag as anti.
(Shrug means I prefer them sometimes or specifically in one medium over another (book vs. movie), check means I love them in every version, X means not at all)
Golden Era
Drarry: 🤷‍♀️ The appeal comes and goes; the further from canon it gets, the more I like it, but in a canon compliant universe I don't. Still, they were immensely important to each other growth wise, and I enjoy seeing the different interpretations of that.
Romione: ✅ One of the all-time greats. Sure, the books are kinder to their relationship, but the movies aren't completely lacking in the way some people would like to believe (newsflash: it's not just Ron's character that was butchered in the movies).
Dramione: ❌ I wouldn't be exaggerating when I say that finding out someone ships Dramione makes me lose respect for them. If you understand Hermione at all, and not the self-insert version of her that the fandom has created, you'd know that she would never.
Linny: ✅ I enjoy them, but specifically the book version of them that features Ginny as Luna's weirdness translator and Luna as the cryptid hanging out at all the Gryffindor parties under Ginny's arm. Platonic or romantic, they are a great match.
Deamus: ✅ Love, love, love. The fact that they are one of the few characters that don't have a confirmed marriage by the end of the series just adds to the delusion that they ran off together. Hard to find any content of them that I don't like.
Hinny: 🤷‍♀️ Harry finding happiness and a family after everything he was forced to go through is all that matters to me, so I never want to rain on his parade but, again, their relationship is so much better in the books. Ginny, specifically, is better in the books, but I digress.
Marauders
Jily: ✅ I hate seeing them shipped with anyone else. Their love literally saved their child. They're written in the stars: stag and doe. They were in each other's lives longer than they weren't. Plus, you know who else tried to separate Jily? Voldemort.
Wolfstar: 🤷‍♀️ I started out as a decent fan, but my appreciation has slowly fizzled out. Their dynamic is more interesting when you see them for how they really are: the last of their group. They aren't the ones they wanted, but the ones they got.
Jegulus: ❌ I have little else to say about it other than that I miss when it wasn't being shoved down my throat and washed down with Lily-slander.

13 - ALBIREO | Stargazing Design - DOWNLOAD HERE
Hello my little stars! ✨ Introducing a new style of doc, I present to you Albireo. I had this idea when my rp partner and I were organizing the relationship evolution of some of our characters, putting together a timeline of everything we'd written together so far. By the time we were done, I already had an idea of what to do in this doc.
Albireo is a relationship doc, made for you to tell the story of the relationship of your muse and their special one. Of course, you can always use this doc for best friends or other types of relationships that you want. This doc features a section for each muse separately, a section to write how the relationship developed and a section to put your favorite memories of their relationship.
The hardest thing was choosing a ship to illustrate my idea, there are so many incredible ships, it's so hard to choose! 🤯 But luckily for my indecision, my social media got flooded with content from my favorite game and I couldn't resist using my favorite video game ship. 🥺
If you enjoyed this idea, please let me know, so I can create more relationship docs with different aesthetics!

protective & possessive obito/reader headcanons, please?
POSSESSIVE!OBITO, FEMALE READER. | MODERN AU, HEADCANONS.
Tumblr media
warnings: not-detailed smut, jealousy, lots of kissing, a very possessive!obito, and i’m not gonna apologize :>, fluff content, hickeys, usage of y/n, mention of the words ass and crotch, kakashi and rin are together here, just for the sake of the plot, i don’t really ship kakashi with anyone, let alone with rin, tons of pda, obito crossing the line.
wc: 0.9k
character/s: obito uchiha <3; featuring: kakashi, rin.
—,,
IMPORTANT!… please, feel free to ignore if any of these topics trigger you; read at your own risk!
okay, how do i even start this? obito’s the definition of possessive, that’s for sure. like, you’re just his?? he likes to remind you and the others, especially the others, that you’re his girlfriend and his alone; it could be an arm encircling your waist to pull you closer to his chest the moment he catches some random guys staring at you as if you were not (and very) taken, obito’s lips would remain on your temple longer than necessary as he shoot daggers at their direction until they had no choice but to look away; or it could be stolen kisses every time you two went out to a public place full of people, with him lifting your chin delicately with one finger to guide your glossy lips to his own impatient ones to begin a (soon heated) ‘innocent’ and ‘sweet’ kiss. you always were the one to break the contact first, reminding him where you were with flushed cheeks and teary eyes, to which he would just peck you once more before letting go.
now, obito’s possessiveness had nothing to do with some lack of confidence shit; no, none of that. it simply was the need to claim you in front of everyone, to make everyone aware that you chose him and you were dating him; he was just proud of you being his that sometimes he couldn’t contain himself, feeling extremely lucky to have a woman like you by his side and to be the only one who could have you sleeping in his arms at night after a love-making session.
honestly, the entire length of your neck would be covered by his hickeys. apart from the fact that he loves to suck on your sensitive skin until the purples and reds began to appear so then he could appreciate the string of saliva connecting his lips to your neck once they separated from there, he also loves the way your face reddens every time your friends notice them and just wondered: ‘really? again, obito? give y/n a rest!’
if you two are planning on going to a party together, you better prepare yourself for what's about to come... since you happen to be the center of attention of those who were looking for a one-night stand, obito would be absolutely stuck to your side with a protective arm around your middle or with his fingers intertwining yours. eventually, he’d let you go so you could spend time with your friends just like he'd spend time with his, casting a glance in your direction every now and then to make sure you're okay and smiling to himself when he identified the unique way your beautiful eyes sparkled with joy.
but that same smile on obito’s face quickly turned into a deep frown the moment he spotted a short guy approaching your location all confident and determined to get whatever was on his mind. at first, obito didn't move from where he was with his friends, knowing damn well that you could handle the situation all by yourself (of course it had nothing to do with that time when you got absolutely upset with him for being a little too protective over you). it took exactly two minutes for your boyfriend to decide to intervene now that he confirmed this guy's intentions, pulling you to his chest by his delicate grip on your hips before he could lay a hand on you; you gasped in surprise when you perceived obito’s presence behind you, noticing the way his fingers tightened on your flesh as he asked the guy if there’s something he needed. even though you did not want to admit it, you were pretty sure your underwear was somehow… wetter,,
after that inconvenience, obito would drag you to the dance floor so you could be as close to him as possible; with your ass moving against his crotch in rhythm of the music, biting your lip the moment you felt he was getting… excited.
obito would NEVER confess (it was so obvious, tho) that his possessiveness and protectiveness increase remarkably in the presence of kakashi, he’d kiss and touch you more than usual. once, you three were in rin’s room waiting for her to come back with some food, you’d casually got up from your place next to kakashi on the bed and when you passed in front of obito on the way back he just sat you on his lap whilst one of his hands rested atop your upper thigh and began to caress the skin there; your face turned red as a tomato when obito’s lips latched onto your neck, his eyes fixed on kakashi’s… but before he could get any further, you stood up quickly and covered with your palm the new mark he gave you, looking at him in shock:
lil peek ahead,
“OBITO!” you exclaimed, embarrassed. “what’s wrong with you? you can’t just… do things like that in front of our friend!”
“you’re my…”
“so what?!” you reproached him, “that doesn’t mean you can act all primal…”
“it’s okay, y/n.” kakashi stepped in with a calm voice. “my best friend here needs a reminder every now and then that i’ve got a girlfriend too, i get it.”
“oh, yeah? are you sure i’-…?”
“ENOUGH!” you cut him off. “we’ll talk about this later, obito.” you walked towards your previous seat next to your friend, ignoring obito’s low grunt.
end of the lil peek,
deep inside your boyfriend knows he has to work on that side of him, and he’s gonna do it for the good of your relationship.
it’ll take a while, but he’ll make it.

DCA Palooza CommentFest!
Tumblr media
[ID: A three panel comic arranged from left to right. The first panel shows yn sitting up in bed as they wake up yawning, the curtains of his window open in the background so you can see Sun peeking in through their window. In the second panel yn is shown first looking at their mailbox in confusion, seeing that it's budging in the front, and then beneath they begin opening the door. Their eyes widen and the bird perched on the mailbox starts to flap its wings as something shoots out towards yn. In the final panel, yn is completely buried beneath a pile of letters with one arm extended up from the pile holding a single piece of mail. End ID]
The DCA Palooza is hosting a Commentfest, an event to encourage fic writers and help all of you find new fics to read, but most importantly to spread positivity and nice, thoughtful comments.

Then, read! Enjoy fics your fellow community members have written, give and receive meaningful comments on works, and have a good time!
Fic Submission Info:
Please fill out the fic submission form and provide as much information about your fic as you can to help us categorize it correctly! Only one fic submission is allowed per person for each submission form!

Submit a SFW Fic here:
Our submission form for NSFW fics will be below the readmore as well as some tips for leaving thoughtful comments.
We didn’t want to leave out such a huge part of fandom and fics so we have a separate form to submit spicy or smut fics to receive comments and appreciation on!
When submitting please keep in mind that while we’re doing our best to moderate and dissuade minors from engaging with fics that contain adult content we may not be able to prevent this entirely.
Submit NSFW fics here:
A Guide to Thoughtful Comments:
You don’t have to follow any kind of guide to leave nice, thoughtful comments but here’s some tips and a cheatsheet to help you write meaningful comments to make the author’s day!
The structure of a thoughtful comment can be broken down into FIVE main bodies:
Telling the author you liked the fic. Saying something like…
“I wish I could leave another kudos!”
“This was lovely!”
“I wish I could read this story again for the first time”
“This was so well done”
Complimenting an aspect of the story such as the…
Characterization of a character
Character development
Pacing of the story
Description of a place/scene
Writing quality
Quoting a segment from the story and talking about it. Try saying something like…
“This line made me (laugh/smile/cry/cringe/squeal/scream/snort/want to vomit)”
“Their line here was especially powerful given the extra backstory you gave them”
“I could totally see [x character] a saying that”
“The comedic timing of this line was perfect”
Talking about how the story made you feel! For example…
“This fic melted my heart”
“The angst here killed me”
“This fluffy fic made my day better”
Ending line! Try something like…
“Thanks for writing this!”
“Such a great read, I loved it!”
“Now I want to read more”
“Going to go read more of your work now, bye!” (only use this if you plan to)
“Bookmarking to read again!” (only use this if you plan to)
If you want some further reading with more detail going into the structure of a thoughtful way to comment on fics, please check out the full guide here!

Listen, if Ed Boon asked me to write official tie-in novel filth for Mortal Kombat, I would. I don't care if he sends a studio note that says "If you make Sub-Zero any gayer I'll rip your fucking head off," I'd still work for him. Who needs a head anyways. Love that guy.
Anyways here's a wonderwall of filth.

I just want to say this, and yes, you know who you are:
Don't use Tenoch's allegations as a way to advance your shipping or character bias. Do not take advantage of a serious, divisive, and delicate case to claim moral superiority in fandom. Do not use this as your fandom whacking stick or fandom cancelation plug.
I am starting to notice anti-nashuri or Namor haters conflating fictional work and the character Namor with Tenoch Huerta in an asinine hope to:
A) carve remaining fans out as "problematic"
B) find an insidious way to justify their controlling, immature desire to have fans stop producing work they always had a hate for
Separate the actor and reality from the character and fiction, first and foremost. That's your problem now.
Who cares if there is a Nashuri week (which has been in progress before the allegations)? Who cares if fans still leave their stories up? Who cares if people still like Namor or Nashuri? Who cares if people still make Nashuri, Namor, or just Namor + Shuri edits? Who cares if some people still write and draw art of Namor rooted in their appreciation for Ryan Coogler and Joe Robert Cole's writing? No one sane should or would care. It's not "daring to have a nerve" or problematic. It isn't immediately them "defending" Tenoch.
As long as that's just what it is, fans can still be fans. Fans can still appreciate the characters and their relationships. Fans can still have escapism. Fans can still be happy and produce content that makes them happy. You have no right to impede on that, but you do have the right to feel uncomfortable or not want it on your feed. If that's the case, act accordingly: block, mute, press "uninterested," and curate your space. Not run and post these fake ass high and mighty spiels where you clearly concern yourself more with fandom (reporting fanart? Be for real) than the actual situation, trying to rile up a crowd and drum up negativity.
I have seen shaken fans of nashuri or Namor who have been victims of sexual violence and assault catching strays.
I have seen vulturish anti-Namor or anti-nashuri fans immediately taking this news as, "So this means you should finally stop doodling and liking a pairing/character I do not!"
I have seen gross anti-fans rub it in fans' faces, being the awful bearer of bad news and "watch dogs" hoping to gleefully observe them crumble.
I have seen immature Shuri (and other variants) stans who had it out for Namor or nashuri since day one, using this as a way to justify their hate and hateful behavior. It's almost as though they were waiting for something, anything like this to make a chess move (some of them admitting as much).
Do you know how manipulative, deceitful, and twisted this all is?
This isn't even accounting for the fact that Tenoch's situation is a difficult one to pinpoint as the story progressed, to say the very least. You'd know that if you truly gave a damn and followed the story or at the very least alleged victim. It's shrouded in specifics and unwinding stories.
There is ample information that later emerged and details (from Mexican politics to confirmed lies) that makes this case a very scary gray. I have seen many nashuri and Namor fans express dismay and sorrow over the news. People immediately weighed into the alleged victim's testimony and had serious conversations about where they wanted to go from there. Some pulled back their Namor content out of shock. People were torn and took this very seriously with a "blackout" period. It was only until further information that complicated everything came out that some decided to take different positions, while others still wanted to remain cautious and neutral, but still enjoy the little fandom haven they curated with their friends.
This is no light matter. There are real people and their livelihoods, lives on the line. People were distraught and, unlike most of these fake ass pearl grippers posting memes in the same breath, made an effort to initially follow the alleged victim (ready to renounce Tenoch) and dig for the truth. Fans even stressed to take the victims' words into consideration, rather than being blinded by celebrity worship.
So... To see anti-fans being utterly disingenuous and trying to villify a whole group whose crime is just liking a normal fictional property is insane. It's gross. It's sick. It's malicious. It's low.
It makes me livid, and I hope you reap what you sow. I am five seconds away from listing names and putting them on blast for this outrageous (continous) behavior. Someone liking a character Tenoch played or said character being shipped with another should be the least of your problem.

I’m not coming from a place of hate at all, I enjoy your takes on Berserk homoeroticism and appreciate your refreshing ability to make well informed, intellectual analysis so accessible for other fans. It is an important resource to have when dudebros try to make their homophobic bias sound like good arguments. However, when it comes to your analysis of Casca, I find myself disagreeing with almost everything you say. I’m usually only reading your blog quietly because I enjoy the discourse, but I feel like I need to add my two cents. I agree that Cascas writing falls flat to a degree, but I can’t help but think that you’re downplaying her character and arc because you don’t enjoy the parts of Berserk that aren’t about homoerotic tension between Guts and Griffith. Their homoerotic tension is also what is most interesting to me, but it’s not what Berserk is inherently about. We could dismiss Casca by saying ˋMiura can’t write women´, but then again characters like Farnese exist who have an entire complex thematic arc tied to religious extremism, authoritarian character and freeing herself from dogmatism and Berserk as a story is not punishing her or asking for redemption and is instead inherently ridding itself from moralizing judgements of characters. She’s allowed to evolve by herself. As a queer person, I see myself in her. Theres so much queerness and comphet in her story, I’m sad that there’s not many meta posts about her on here. Does Berserk have ideological streaks of conservatism and misunderstands women because Miura has a misogynistic bias? Yeah, unfortunately. But the story and many of the main characters are too complex and ambiguous for me to write them all off based on how some of their arcs are not feminist enough and could need improving. Imagine writing such a complicated and long story with so many characters as just one simple Japanese dude who never leaves his house and who was born in the 70s or whatever. Like, I get separating the story from the author and impact versus intent, but dismissing Casca because of her flaws in writing is dismissing all of Berserk because of some thematic flaws. It sounds like you’re expecting the perfect story for her to be a valid female character and that’s just not possible. I for once made peace with her flaws and am not rejecting her. I think Cascas story works for what it is and I empathize with her as someone who has experienced misogyny and SA. Farny and Schierke working through her trauma magically was a nice metaphor for solidarity between women and it’s rare to see that coming from a male author, I don’t think it’s less valid just because Miura has some gender bias. Casca still experiencing PTSD afterwards is also realistic and shows that Miura is willing to give Casca enough agency to work through that by herself without magic some time in the future of the story. Her story is uncomfortable and her character arc is long and flawed, but that’s what makes it impossible for me to dismiss her. I’m a bit disappointed that so many fans on the tumblr side are willing to basically rid Griffith from all his wrongdoings but then empathize the flaws in Casca and don’t understand that maybe they also have some internalized misogyny that doesn’t make them understand that bias. Especially with the argument that I often see with She Should Have Died. Why? Because she’s uncomfortable? Maybe explore that within yourself. Other than that I am happy to have this queer part of the fandom where we don’t judge each other for liking Griffith and enjoying GriffGuts as a ship. And I hope that you don’t think too harshly of my criticism, for it is only to improve our fandom discourse culture and not to throw stones. Thank you for existing!
Okay look, while I do appreciate the appreciation for my non-casca blog content, I can't look past this coming hand in hand with a lot of pretty insulting, and frankly baseless assumptions about my motives. I'm glad you're not coming from a place of hate, but from the sounds of it you're coming from a place of presumptive judgement, and I want to address that.
I've always been very direct and clear about how I don't think someone's tastes or opinions about a story reflect on them personally. I don't judge someone's character by their fictional interests, I judge it by their words and actions.
If you're going to be interacting with my blog, I'd appreciate being extended the same benefit of the doubt.
You seem to see someone who doesn't enjoy Casca's storyline and make assumptions about why, rather than taking the reasons I provide at face value. I have explained why, very thoroughly, quite often, and quite recently, while constantly referring back to the text and to Miura's comments to justify my conclusions. I literally don't know how I can possibly be more direct about how I am discussing the narrative of a story on its own terms without going full dry academic language lol, come on.
I like to think I'm also very clear about when I'm expressing my subjective opinion (eg i dislike het romance; I'm super into romantic betrayal as a trope, etc) vs when I'm analysing the story based on direct textual evidence (eg casca has no active involvement in the narrative post-eclipse; casca's sexual abuse is eroticized; etc). I certainly try to be. And frankly it is genuinely pretty insulting that you think I'm incapable of judging Casca's story on its own merits or lackthereof, and must be over-emphasizing the flaws of her narrative because I only care about griffguts.
The truth is I genuinely believe that Griffith and Guts' relationship is the thematic core of Berserk, based on the text of the story, and I also genuinely believe Casca's storyline sucks ass in most ways. And it's okay to disagree with one or both of those takes, but yeah I'm gonna take a little bit of offense at the insinuation that I'm too biased by shipping or misogyny or both to analyse the story.
If you love Casca's story despite its flaws, good for you. I'm happy for you. I have no desire to argue with you to make you change your mind. And I don't think it makes you misogynist or ableist or racist, even though I think Casca's storyline contains all of the above to some degree - but if I was going to respond to you in the same vein that you've responded to me, that would be fair game as an assumption. It would also be fair game to assume that you only like Casca and are dismissive of or blind to many of the story's faults because you're projecting or you ship gtsca or you think good feminism is all about stanning certain designated fictional characters regardless of their actual depiction. And I think that is something wrong with fandom culture. I think those are all shitty assumptions to make about someone based on which fictional characters they enjoy reading about most. So like, straight up, you're the only one throwing stones here.
So I want to ask you: why is it that someone discussing offensive fictional tropes makes you assume they are the real misogynist? Why are you equating criticism of writing with criticism of real women, as though media trends and narrative framing don't exist? Why do you think it even matters if I "reject" a fictional character because I don't like how she's written lol?
This strikes me as the same line of thinking that leads to shutting down all criticism of misogyny in media - how dare you say this outfit is unrealistic for a martial artist, some women like to wear high heels! How dare you criticize the average husband/model-esque wife trope, some beautiful women love their average husbands! How dare you criticize comics for fridging the girlfriends of superheroes, women sometimes suffer horrible fates in real life! How dare you criticize the born sexy yesterday trope, some women are naive! etc etc etc.
And this is why it's important to have at least some understanding of narrative framing and greater media trends when discussing media on any level beyond headcanon and projection. Casca isn't real, and as a construct she is not a sensitive or realistic depiction of a traumatized woman, regardless of whether someone identifies with her. She's not a sensitive or realistic depiction of a disabled women either. There are literally "funny" cartoonish background gags involving her shoving random things into her mouth. She gets sexy fanservice while regressed to the mentality of a toddler. She is sexually assaulted by and then shipteased with the protagonist. I could go on all day lol, lbr here. I should not be obligated to brush all that aside and pretend it doesn't irritate me and sometimes offend me in order to valorize a woman who doesn't like, yk, exist.
You and anyone else are free to project on her and relate to her and sympathize with her and love her, and I think that's great and what fandom is all about, but that still doesn't make her writing strong. And I think it's worth discussing how and why her writing fails, the same way it's worth discussing any other flaw of Berserk, like Guts' character flattening with the Eclipse, or Farnese's sudden personality 180, or the awkward pacing, or the prominent scary black man trope, etc, all of which I've also discussed plenty. If you feel like I've disproportionately focused on Casca criticism, then there are 2 reasons for that: 1. I respond to asks 99% of the time, so it's what the people are asking about. 2. Casca's storyline is the most prominent bad and offensive writing in the story, like it's the number one thing that's likely to drive new potential fans away, so of course people are going to want to talk about it.
Also I've written like, a lot of meta and speculation and headcanons etc about Casca beyond criticism of her narrative lol, so if you're sad about the lack of discussion and meta about her it's ironic that you're coming to me with that complaint. Be the change you want to see in the world, start your own Casca centric blog if you want more meta about her to exist, or read more of what already exists. I'd say I'm doing my part as far as I'm concerned lol, but I don't like the way that phrasing implies that anyone has an obligation to focus their interest on any particular fictional character.
I'm glad you enjoy other aspects of my blog, and if you stick around after this admittedly irritable response I hope you continue enjoying them. But if you feel the need to engage with me to defend a fictional character from my criticism again in the future, I'd appreciate it if you engaged with that criticism directly and analytically, rather than speculating about my character and motives.

The eighth time he confessed was during the summer of their third year — at the firework festival.
It was ironic. Chiyo remembered turning Nishinoya down relatively harshly when he asked her to go almost three summers ago. But when he asked her out during one of their summer homework cram sessions at a local cafe this year, for some reason she felt compelled to say yes.
Her father teased her, asking if the outing was a date – to which Chiyo vehemently denied. Though deep down, she wasn’t quite sure. Nishinoya had gotten so excited and cheered so loudly when she agreed to his invitation, she didn’t have the time to ask for his intentions.
Or perhaps she did but simply lacked the nerves.
Either way, she took the day off work and got all dolled up in the red and gold floral-print yukata she received from her aunt and uncle as a birthday gift earlier that year. She even called up Honoka and asked her to come over to do her hair, to which the aspiring hairstylist agreed on the condition that she got all the details about this ‘date-but-not-a-date.’
She couldn’t help but feel a little nervous as she made her way toward the temple. She wondered if she looked nearly as pretty as the group of teenage girls walking not far in front of her. Perhaps she looked weird in the yukata, perhaps her hair had somehow gotten messy on the walk over, or perhaps her lip gloss had accidentally smudged due to how many times she pressed her lips together.
But all those worries melted away when she locked eyes with Nishinoya at their meet-up spot. Maybe it was just the festival lights, but his cheeks seemed to grow a little redder at the sight of her.
“Hey,” he pushed off the sidewalk pole he was leaning against. He too wore a cream-coloured yukata, decorated with dragon prints outlined in maroon. He eyed her from head to toe, looking like he was at a loss for words for the first time in his life. “Wow, you look… great.”
“You think?” Chiyo murmured and Nishinoya nodded vigorously.
“Yeah! I mean you always look great, but the traditional clothes are a nice touch.”
Tucking a strand of loose hair behind her ear, Chiyo smiled. “Thanks.”
Nishinoya stared for a few seconds longer. It wasn’t long enough to be considered rude or creepy, but just long enough to let Chiyo know that he genuinely appreciated her outfit. Eventually, he clapped his hands together and turned towards the lines of festival stands. “Alright, let’s get going,” he said. “The festival isn’t gonna last all night.”
“Mhm,” holding her kimono purse with both hands, Chiyo was about to follow him down the path when Nishinoya suddenly paused.
“Oh, right!” He turned back towards her and extended his hand. “Here!”
Chiyo blinked.
“So we don't get separated, you know?” Nishinoya said.
That was a lie. Karasuno was a relatively small town, even by Miyagi’s standards. And while the firework festival was a hot gathering spot for most of its citizens, it was still difficult to get lost or separated that easily.
Chiyo knew that. She did, but she still chose to gently place her hand in Nishinoya’s open palm. She could feel her face burning as her blue eyes flickered between the ground and his wide-eyed expression.
“It’s…” She pressed her lips together. “It’s just so we don’t get separated… Okay?”
Nishinoya was flabbergasted for a moment. Perhaps he had expected her to turn him down, to swat his hand away like she always did. But when the initial shock wore off, an eager grin spread across his cheeks.
“Of course,” Nishinoya laughed, tugging her along. “Come on, I wanna get some yakisoba.”
Tumblr media
Usually, the main temple of Karasuno city was relatively quiet, save for the occasional wedding. But for one night each summer, the area would truly come to life as families and friends gathered to celebrate the local shrine’s deity. Various food stands and game stations lined the sides of the path and traditional music played through the mini speakers.
Underneath the strung-up wax paper lanterns, Chiyo walked alongside Nishinoya, peering down at the bite she took out of her crimson candied apple.
“Is it good?” He asked, now wearing a white kitsune mask over his forehead.
“Yeah,” Chiyo nodded. “It’s just been a while since I’ve had one. Hotaru used to love these when she was little.”
“Really? I’m more of a chocolate banana guy myself,” Nishinoya hummed. “Hey, what time do the fireworks start again?”
“Seven-thirty, I think,” she checked her phone. “We still have a little more time. Is there something you want to do?”
“I wanna go to the shooting gallery!”
Chiyo raised an eyebrow. She looked around, trying her best to spot one with no avail. “I think I saw one a little further back there,” she said, pointing her sweet treat behind herself. “Do you wanna go?”
“Perfect!” Nishinoya’s grip on her hand tightened. “Let’s go!”
Chiyo’s eyes crinkled a little at his enthusiasm. They made a quick turn and set off in the direction they came from.
“By the way, where is your grandpa tonight?” She asked as she took another bite of her candied apple.
“He’s on a date with that uhh…” He twirled his finger in the air. “Flight attendant, I think.”
“Ah, Kasumi-san?” Chiyo said after a moment of thought, barely remembering the woman’s name from her last visit to the Nishinoya residence. “I thought she left for Thailand already.”
Nishinoya shook his head. “Nah, that’s tomorrow,” he glanced up at the velvet sky for a bit before turning his attention back to Chiyo. “What about Hotaru and Kaito? What are they doing tonight?”
“They’re with dad.”
“Oh, nice!” Nishinoya smiled. “Did Amari-san manage to get the day off?”
“Yeah, I think he took them to the library and rented a movie for the night,” Chiyo looked down at her outfit. “Honestly, it feels a little weird being here without them.”
He cocked his head to the side. “What do you mean?”
Chiyo met his gaze. “It’s just…” She began after a moment of thought. “Every summer, I would take Hotaru and Kaito to the firework festival. You know, just the three of us.”
The realization dawned on Nishinoya and he immediately stopped in his tracks. “Wait, don’t tell me I dragged you away from them or something?!”
Chiyo shook her head. “I was the one who wanted to come, Yuu. Don’t worry about it,” she looked straight ahead. “I just feel a little bad. Like I’m breaking family tradition,” she sighed. “I need to do better as their older sister.”
Nishinoya hummed. “I think you do a lot already though."
“I do?”
He nodded. “I mean you’re way more responsible than my sisters, that’s for sure.”
Chiyo blinked a few times before looking away.
“Thanks.”
After a little more walking, the shooting gallery booth came into view right as Chiyo finished her candied apple. Nishinoya’s face brightened.
“Hey! Hattori-san!” He waved at the old man sitting behind the table who wore a white tank top and straw hat.
“Well!” The old man’s eyes widened and he laughed. “If it isn’t my favorite customer. How are you, Yuu?”
“Same as always! Pretty good!”
“Good, good,” he fanned himself with a Japanese fixed fan printed with the festival logo. “And ol’ Mineo? Where’s he tonight?”
“Grandpa’s out on a date tonight, so it’s just me,” Nishinoya grinned. “Oh, but I brought a date with me too!”
He gestured to Chiyo and the redhead took it as a cue to introduce herself. “Hello,” she lowered her head, albeit a little awkwardly. “My name is Amari Chiyo.”
She couldn’t help but feel her face warm at the fact that Nishinoya referred to her as his date.
“Ain’t that nice? Yuu’s got himself a girlfriend,” the old man chuckled. “Nice to meetcha, little lady. I’m Hattori. Yuu and I go way back.”
Chiyo gave him a small nod and Nishinoya slapped a few coins down on the table.
“Hattori-san, gimme two tries.”
“You got it!”
As Hattori turned around, Chiyo leaned in.
“How did you manage to get all chummy with the shooting gallery guy?” She whispered.
“Gramps used to bring me here every summer,” Nishinoya wasn’t nearly as discreet. “He’s big into town festivals.”
“Yuu was just a little boy when we first met,” Hattori said as he handed Nishinoya an air gun “Wouldn’t stop crying til he won something.”
“I was like three, Hattori-san,” Nishinoya frowned. “And for the record, I still have that Ultraman figure. It’s on my desk at home.”
“I’m honored!”
“Ever since then, gramps always made sure to stop by whenever we come to the firework festival,” Nishinoya then turned to Chiyo. “We’d each take two turns and see who can get the most prizes. It’s kinda a tradition of ours,” he then winked. “So don’t worry ‘bout it. You’re not the only one breaking family tradition tonight.”
Chiyo’s eyes widened. She felt her heart flutter a little as Nishinoya turned to face the shooting gallery. He readied his air gun, aiming down the scope and lining it up with an action figure on the top shelf.
The first and second shots just barely missed the action figure, but the third one managed to hit the masked superhero right in the chest. It fell off the shelf and hit the ground.
“Whoo!” Nishinoya cheered.
Hattori whistled. “Nice job! You have five bullets left.”
Nishinoya then lined his scope up with a box of strawberry chocolate cones. The cork flew out and clipped the side of the box, knocking it down with a light rattle.
“You’re pretty good at this,” the redhead hummed.
“I had a lot of practice,” Nishinoya beamed proudly. “Hey, do you want something?”
Chiyo shook her head. “No, I’m good. Just get something for yourself.”
Nishinoya’s gaze lingered on her for a little longer. “Okay,” he murmured before squatting down, lowering his stance just enough to line his scope with a large cat plush toy on the bottom row.
The first shot whizzed past its ear, but the second one hit it in the left eye. The cat plush rocked back a little and Nishinoya was just about to cheer, but it quickly swayed forward and returned to an upright position.
“I hit that thing!” Nishinoya shouted. “Hey, Hattori-san! You saw it right?”
Hattori let out a hearty laugh. “You know how it goes, Yuu. Gotta knock it over for it to count. You got one shot left.”
Nishinoya frowned. He narrowed his eyes at the ginger cat plush that stood defiantly on the dark brown shelves of the shooting gallery booth. Chiyo watched as he turned back and crouched down into his previous position. He was so focused, even she began to feel a little nervous from the sidelines. It reminded her of his behavior whenever he stood on the volleyball court - calm and quiet.
He blinked a few times and shook out his hand before lining the scope up with the cat plushie once more. Nishinoya took a deep breath and finally pulled the trigger.
The cork flew out of the muzzle of the air gun, hitting the plushie on the forehead with just enough force to knock it backwards. It fell off the shelf and landed on the grass below with a soft thump.
“Alright!” Nishinoya threw his arms up in celebratory victory and Chiyo clapped.
“Good job,” she chuckled as Hattori bent down to pick up the plushie, action figure and box of chocolates.
“Gotta say, you’ve improved Yuu,” Hattori wore a big smile as he handed Nishinoya all of his prizes. “Seems like little Yuu from all those years ago ain’t that little anymore,” he teased, ruffling Nishinoya’s hair.
“You say that every year, Hattori-san,” Nishinoya laughed, accepting the brief yet affectionate gesture. “Thanks as always.”
He then turned to Chiyo and presented the stuffed animal.
“Here ya go!”
“Wait, for me?” She asked and Nishinoya nodded. “Yuu, I told you to get something for yourself.”
“And what I wanted for myself is to get something for you,” Nishinoya replied cheekily. “Come on, just take it!”
Chiyo blinked a few times before glancing down at the cat plushie in her arms. The fur was surprisingly soft, made of some kind of synthetic fibre with ginger and white stripes. Its eyes were large and green, staring at her with an expression that practically begged her to bring it home with her. She pursed her lips and cleared her throat.
“Fine,” she averted her gaze, trying to hide the redness that threatened to set her cheeks aflame. “Only because you went out of your way to win it for me.”
Nishinoya grinned. “Of course, of course.”
“Noya-san!”
Chiyo glanced over her shoulder at the voice, spotting a few familiar faces approaching from the nearby takoyaki stand.
“Oh, Ryuu!” Nishinoya waved at the boy with a shaved head and sharp eyes. “Chikara and Kazuhito too!”
Chiyo quickly recognized them as members of the volleyball team, as well as Ennoshita Chikara, who was a classmate of hers.
She gave him a small neck bow. “Good evening, Ennoshita-san.”
“Amari-san,” Ennoshita shot her a polite smile. “Nice seeing you here.”
“You too. How’s your summer been so far?”
“Pretty good,” he went along with the small talk, ignoring Nishinoya and the bald-headed boy as they made a ruckus only a few feet away. “Are you here for the taiko drum performance too?”
“The taiko drum performance?” Chiyo was a little confused.
“Tanaka’s sister performs at this festival every summer,” Ennoshita explained, briefly eyeing the bald boy. “So Narita and I came along to support them today. It’s the least we can do.”
“Saeko-neesan is super cool,” the boy with short black hair, presumably Narita, said. “She’s brought along her taiko crew to cheer us on at every competition since Spring High last year.”
“Saeko…?” Resting a hand on her chin, Chiyo thought for a moment. “Wait, is she the one with blonde hair that goes up to here?” She held her free hand just above her shoulder and both Ennoshita and Narita nodded.
“Yeah. Do you know her?”
“I don’t know her personally, but I saw her at the interhigh preliminaries this year,” Chiyo explained. “She was yelling at us to cheer louder during your match against Date Tech.”
“Speaking of which, where’s Kinnoshita?” Dropping whatever he was doing with Tanaka, Nishinoya turned to Ennoshita.
“He couldn’t make it,” Narita replied. “I think he’s in Kamakura visiting family.”
“Ah, that’s too bad.”
Ennoshita then noticed the ginger cat plushie Chiyo was carrying. He glanced at the shooting gallery they were standing by, now servicing a mother and her two children and quickly put two and two together.
“Hey, Amari-san,” he called out to her. “Are you here with Nishinoya tonight?”
“Huh?” Chiyo blinked a few times, squishing the cat plushie’s doe-eyed face further into her chest. “Erm… yeah. We’re here to watch the fireworks together.”
“Wait, seriously?!” That quickly derailed their previous conversation as Tanaka’s eyes grew wide. “You’re gonna watch the fireworks together? Like together, together? Did you finally ask her out, Noya-san?”
“Hey, that’s rude,” Nishinoya pouted. “For the record, this is our second date. We already went on our first date like a year ago,” he puffed out his chest proudly. “But yeah, I asked her out.”
“No way!” Narita’s jaw dropped.
Tanaka’s lips tightened into a thin smile that teetered the line of being scary to Chiyo. He stiffly grabbed Ennoshita and Narita by the shoulder and spun them around back towards the Takoyaki stand. “Well, if that’s the case. We won’t bother you anymore,” he said in a sing-song voice. “Come on boys, let’s go.”
Following Tanaka’s very obvious attempt to leave them alone, Ennoshita gave an awkward laugh. He then glanced back at Chiyo.
“The fireworks should be starting soon,” he told her. “You guys should go find a spot for that.”
“Ah, okay,” not knowing what else to say, Chiyo could only nod.
“See you guys!” Nishinoya waved, watching as his friends’ silhouettes disappeared into the crowd before turning to the redhead. “Alright,” he extended a hand outwards. “Let’s go! I know a spot with the best view!”
Chiyo stilled for a moment but she quickly took his hand with a sweet yet bashful smile.
“Yeah,” she chuckled. “Let’s go.”
Tumblr media
“Thank you for waiting. The firework show will start momentarily.”
As the announcement played through the speakers, Nishinoya and Chiyo arrived at a riverbank just outside the temple. A crowd of people began to gather alongside them – families, couples and large groups of teenagers, presumably still in the early stage of high school. Chiyo watched as a group of girls much younger looking than her chatted away by the black railings.
“Yuu,” she murmured just loud enough for him to hear. “We’re gonna be graduating soon, huh?”
Nishinoya glanced at her. “Yeah,” he hummed. “How is exam prep going?”
Chiyo shrugged. “The same as always.”
“Have you decided what you wanna do?”
“I… I have a general idea but,” she met his gaze for a brief moment before looking away. “I don’t know.”
“Hey, don’t worry about it,” Nishinoya assured her. “You still have your entire life to figure it out.”
“I know…” Chiyo’s expression gave way to a half-hearted smile. “I know that. But it’s just… scary. I thought I had my entire life figured out. I wanted to set a good example for Hotaru and Kaito,” she let out a half-hearted laugh. “But turns out I didn’t and I feel like I’ve let everyone down.”
It was subtle, but Nishinoya’s grip on her hand tightened ever-so-slightly. “There’s nothing wrong with not knowing,” he said. “Not everyone’s gonna know what they wanna do the second they graduate high school. If anything, I think not knowing and pushing forward makes you even more admirable.”
Though there was still a lingering sourness in her expression, Chiyo smiled. “Thanks,” she whispered. “For everything.”
“Of course! I’m always in your corner, no matter what,” he grinned cheekily. “Even if you’re a baby-eater.”
“A baby-eater?” Chiyo raised an eyebrow. “Where did that come from?”
“You! It came from you,” Nishinoya laughed. “You said that when we first met!”
“Did I?” She gave him an appalled look and Nishinoya nodded.
Chiyo was about to argue when a loud boom echoed across the riverbank. The water beneath them rippled and she turned her head just in time to see a blossom of red and orange bloom against the dark velvet sky.
Then one after another, sparkling trails continued to launch into the sky and erupt in a flashing light. There was blue, purple, green, yellow and pink. The colors shone so brightly they almost felt like daylight reflecting in her eyes.
Chiyo stood there, entranced by the magical view before her. The flickering lights were mirrored in the river below, smelling faintly of gunpowder and smoke as the sound resonated through her entire body like a drum. She felt a light squeeze on her hand and tore her eyes away to meet Nishinoya’s gaze, finding that he was staring at her rather than the brilliance before them.
With that same goofy, love-struck grin, came those familiar words.
“I like you.”
Her eyes widened.
Amari Chiyo was stubborn, but she wasn’t stupid. She realized what her feelings were long before she cared to admit it.
At first, it seemed absurd and Chiyo wondered if Nishinoya’s stupidity rubbed off on her, resulting in such a disturbing revelation. But she soon realized that she did not, in fact, have any loose screws in the head.
At some point in time, she fell for Nishinoya.
Clutching the cat plushie closer to her thumping chest, Chiyo felt her face heat up. She swallowed hard, then opened her mouth. Riding on a certain high, the words began to tumble out of her mouth.
“Yuu, I-!”
A familiar ringtone suddenly blared out, overtaking the booming fireworks in the background as Chiyo suddenly came to her senses and held her tongue. Nishinoya stumbled and began digging through his yukata.
“Shoot, that’s me!” He mumbled, quickly finding his cell phone and checking the caller ID. “Ah, crap. Sorry, I gotta take this.”
“Oh,” Chiyo blinked. “No, go ahead.”
Nishinoya gave an apologetic smile before answering the call.
“Hello? Sato-san?”
Chiyo recognized that name. Sato Akari - one of Nishinoya’s classmates and his assigned partner for the summer history project.
“Sorry, now really isn’t a good time… Yes, I know we need to look over our notes…” Nishinoya sighed. “Look, we’ll set up a time later, ‘kay? I’m on a date right now… Yeah, it’s fine… I’ll call you tomorrow.”
Nishinoya quickly ended the call and shoved his phone back into his belt. “Sorry ‘bout that,” he rubbed his neck awkwardly. “What were you gonna say?”
Chiyo’s lips parted but her voice fell short on the tip of her tongue. She was suddenly reminded of the day when he first confessed to her. He had asked her out so suddenly and with little to no context, she didn’t take him very seriously. Granted, his reasons at the time were as shallow as they could get. But even as he continuously pursued her, she brushed him off with the same mindset, thinking he would eventually get bored and move on.
Yet he never did.
Instead, he faced her head-on with nothing but patience and sincerity.
And now after hearing that brief exchange, a thought sank into Chiyo’s mind.
Do I even deserve to accept his confession?
“I…” Chiyo’s eyes flickered down to her yukata as her drumming heartbeat echoed in her ears. “The fireworks,” she blurted out, meeting his gaze once more with a wistful smile. “They’re really pretty. Thanks for coming out with me today.”
Nishinoya’s face lightened and he grinned as brightly as the fireworks behind him.
“Yeah, no problem!”

You will be assigned to an artist who has also picked your same song. You are expected to work and communicate with your artist to bring your interpretation of a Mitski song to life. All works must be beta’d.
All fic submissions must be a minimum of 3.5k words. It’s up to you whether or not you think you’re capable of doing more by deadline, long fics are welcome! As long as you meet the check-ins on time, the fic can be as long as you want, but in order to start posting in the month of April, we are trying to set a realistic word count for everyone.
While we encourage everyone to write for a multitude of ships within the Supernatrualverse, we do not allow incest or underage explicit content. All graphic sexual content and/or violence if you choose to include it must be involving 18+ characters, just as all participants must be 18+ to participate.
ARTISTS:
Pick 3 Mitski songs on our google form and include your ship preference, we will try our best to get you one of your picks! If you don’t have a preference, we will set you up with a song and author. Authors and artists are expected to work together to bring a shared vision for your mutually chosen song to life!
Artists will be granted one fic in the first round of pairings. After all artists have been assigned one song/partner, artists may opt to be assigned to a second song/partner if there are any left to be claimed. As with many bangs, we imagine that there will be more authors than artists. We would appreciate it if you could spread the word to your artist friends and consider being matched with two authors. Pinch-hitters are welcome!!!
By participating in the matching process, artists are agreeing to create a minimum of one (1) art piece. Artists may create more art if they’re inspired to and time permits it, but they are not required to do so. Please ensure that if you claim more than one song/pinch-hit, that you have time to create the art for each one. Additional text separators and icons are welcome, but do not count toward the minimum. All artwork MUST be your own original artwork created specifically in response to the claimed song/fic, and may be created using either digital or traditional media (NO AI ART).
GENERAL RULES:
Disqualification is a thing and the mods reserve the right to disqualify you for any of the following reasons:
—No bullying! If you experience this from your partner, other members (even a mod!!), please DM one of the mods so this can be addressed promptly.
—Racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia, hate-speech, transphobia, etc.
—You can’t have the mods blocked, we’re here to work with you.
—Not reading the rules, disregarding rules that you don’t like, and/or failing to follow them. If you’re unsure of a rule or requirement just ask. Seriously. It’s that easy!
—Failing to submit Mod check-ins/complete the stated requirements for your fic or art.
—Failing to communicate with your author/artist and work together as a team. If you go missing/ghost and do not communicate with your teammate (or the mods, as needed) you will be disqualified and a pinch hitter will be assigned if one is available.
There simply may not be enough artists/authors to assign a pinch-hitter if there are many dropouts. All attempts will be made to find and assign pinch-hitters.
All uploaded fics should be added to the collection on Ao3 upon posting. The collection will be available to access starting April 2024.
We will promo your fic on Tumblr/Twitter on your posting date. Depending on how many fics we have, we will space posting accordingly. You will need to submit to us your formatted Tumblr post the day before/of your posting date; template information will be provided.
Thank you so much for joining my little passion project: the MitskiNatural Bang!!
Please feel free to reach out here or my main blog @rise-like-a-sparrow for any other info or by the contact info provided above!!

I think queer headcanons for the characters of the ccs are fine when it is clear you are not talking about the actual irl person. Maybe not on Twitter but here. Tumblr doesn't have many of the ccs here and people usually try to be respectful about it and it's good to see someone like you in your favorite character.
I do understand your reasoning tho, this isn't an argument or anything. Just wanted to add my two cents.
Love your art btw <3
i appreciate the input! and thanks for the compliment :D
the way i see it, the personas that the ccs put on in the life series and hermitcraft etc are not consistently separate enough from the irl ccs in order to warrant treating them as fictional characters. of course this is case-specific— ren probably considers some of the characters he’s played as more separate from himself, compared to someone like etho who doesnt stray much from his true personality. and to me, its just not practical to take it on a case by case basis— we’re not going to ask every cc a list of questions about their content just to know if its ok to ship them and whatnot, so i tend to take a very “better safe than sorry” attitude and just not engage with that fictional treatment at all
i’ve seen this described as a twitter opinion before and while i do think that probably has foundations in reality, i think separating between platforms like that isn’t helpful. i barely use twitter and haven’t for probably a year or so (aside from my private account) so i engage way more with the tumblr fandom than the twitter one, and further, i see a lot of people on twitter who do treat them as separate characters. idk that statement just irks me
and i’m glad that people are generally trying to be respectful— that’s good! and i understand that i, a random guy, cannot enforce my own views onto other people. but i do think this is a good conversation to have that too often i see people brushing off in favor of their own fan desires
if you want to see people like yourself in the minecraft content you watch (as many do, including myself) you should find other queer creators to watch, and/or find qualities about the hermits (and co) that you can relate to

Some thoughts about Season one of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
There might me minor spoilers.
Within one week, I have started and finished watching the first season of Agents of Shield for the first time. I started it thinking 'Why not? Just try it'. I didn't really like the plot in the beginning, but I still stayed and continued. Why? Because of the characters.
I loved Coulson in the Avengers and was really happy that this series would give us more Coulson content. Just two days before I started watching AoS, I've rewatched The Avengers with a couple of friends and was, for the first time really, absolutely - sad? I don't know, it doesn't seem like the right word - by Coulson's death. But I'm glad I've rewatched it once again before watching AoS and so learning what happend to him after Avengers.
When Skye was introduced in the very beginning of the first episode, I was kind of afraid of her? Idk, just the way she stared at the happenings and recording it, while I didn't have that much of a clue what was going on there, that I had the feeling that I was supposed to know whether or not she was on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s side - it made me kinda scared. That doesn't make really sense and looking back, I probably wouldn't feel that way anymore when I'd watch the first episode again, but still.
I honestly don't really remember what I've thought of Ward at first. He was some good-looking agent who was just there, I don't know. As the episodes went on, I started appreciating him more, which was unfortunately shattered by the fact that can't keep my hands off the internet when watching a series and so read some spoilers about Ward.
I'd feel bad if I didn't write anything about May but I'm afraid there isn't much to say. Just like Ward, she was there. And that's probably it. I say probably because it it possible that I have thought something else about her when she first appeared that I simply can't remember.
Last but not least, Fitzsimmons. I'll talk about them separately in a second but first: I've shipped them from the first episode on. And second: It took me quite some time (about three quarters of the first episode) to realise that Fitzsimmons are, in fact, two persons. And third: when they were first introduced, I really didn't realise that they were friends and that was just their style of talking to each other, I thought they were introduced by fighting with each other.
But now Jemma. Jemma. She is just so sweet, I really love her. Just like Ward, I don't really remember what I've thought of her at first, but with the crucial difference that I know that I have loved her from the very first second she appeared. I'm actually kind of sad I can't recall my first thoughts.
Same with Fitz. It doesn't feel like there was a first time I've seen him. And definitely not just a week ago. It feels like I've known him, known them all for wayyy longer than one week. Fitz isn't just sweet, he's also adorable. The way he acts, that he can be so different. Productive, emotional, jealous, angry, friendly, I just love him. Side note: Since english isn't my first language, I started the series in german, to get settled and used to the pace, and after about three (I think) episodes switched to english with english subtitles. Best decision. I can't believe I wouldn't have experienced Iain De Caestecker's scottish accent, including one of my favorite lines so far, that I have not only replayed many times in my head since I've first heard it, but also replayed the sentence WHEN I first heard it, which is ("When did you stop talking") "About three embarrassing sentences ago"
Buuuuut back to Fitzsimmons. As I said earlier, I tend to look up the series I'm watching on the internet, which causes spoilers. Well, I pretty much ask for them if I'm stupid enough to go on the internet. Anyway, by doing so, I learned that Fitzsimmons will be a thing later on, BUT I don't want to believe it just yet, because I also have read a lot of things that I don't understand yet. So I will sit and watch and learn about them and everyone and everything else while the show goes on.
One question (which is partly rhetoric because I have a feeling that it will be clearer to me when I've watched more seasons, but still): Why do Fitz and Simmons call each other by their last names? And why does Fitz sometimes use "Jemma" but Simmons never "Leo"? Maybe it's just me but it doesn't seem right that they use their last names, even though they're best friends.
To come back to what I've said in the beginning, that I didn't really like the plot in the beginning and kinda just stayed for the characters. It's true. But maybe I was just tired when watching the first four or so episodes or the plot just got better, but I'm glad I kept watching because the plot GOT better, and I still love all the characters (except Ward), maybe even more than in the beginning. No, definitely more than in the beginning. Mostly Skye. But also everyone else. But: Fitz and Simmons are and will always be my favorites and nothing, really nothing, can change that. (I hope I won't regret saying this later)
To everyone who read all the way through until now, thank you. I'm almost pretty sure nobody does cause it's really just me writing down some thoughts, I'll probably have forgotten by the time I reach the end of season two, let alone season seven.

hello new mutual navi <3 what are your thoughts on tgcf <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
Hiiii new mutual Star <3 It's nice to hear from you, even though Hua is a menace and is terrorizing us <3 <3 I'll have you know I was at orchestra rehearsal and was unable to defend myself from their vicious attack, this was all very rude of them lol
But yeah tgcf omg.... I have so many thoughts about it tbh. For reference, I'm currently 6 volumes in (7 is in my possession, just waiting on my roommate to finish it first. If I read past him he'll get sad) and have watched all of the donghua so far and it's like. There are few things that I have felt more like the Target Audience for. My roommate clocked me for this, so this entire thing is his fault and now I've read 6 entire not-insubstantial novels in half a year.
To get the obvious part out of the way, I adore hualian, and out of all of my ships I think they're the closest I've ever gotten to loving both characters in it equally. Like in xiaoven I have a bias for Venti and in xingyun I have a bias for Chongyun, but with hualian I really and truly struggle to pick a favorite. If I had to choose, Xie Lian would probably win out just barely over Hua Cheng, but probably only because we're in his head for the books and thus get to experience his silly thoughts and awful trauma firsthand. However, they are rightfully a set, do not separate in my mind.
I do have a favorite character outside of the main pairing though and that character is Shi Qingxuan and I love her so so so so much it's not even funny. My roommate didn't predict this even though Qingxuan and Venti are so incredibly same guy, it's like. Of course I, renowned Venti enjoyer amongst my compatriots, was going to love the character who's the master of the wind, is a bit silly goofy, enjoys their drink, and also has a cool Gender going on. I have, however, been cursed (blessed) by my roommate's takes about her that don't seem very fandom mainstream, so I am just going to be content rotating her in my brain endlessly. She is in the microwave. Also, it's been an absolute treat watching her in s2 of the donghua, she is everything to me.
The last thing I'll add for my bare minimum thoughts about this series is that I do actually like it for very similar reasons that I like Genshin Impact. In Genshin, I've always been very fond of the immortal characters because I love the way that the writers at mhy explore the humanity of inhuman characters. The Gods and Dragons and Adepti and God-made Puppets and otherwise in Genshin aren't human, but the struggles that they face are incredibly human, whether living like and alongside humanity is one of their goals or not.
Tgcf, with its humans (exceptional humans, but still humans) that ascend to godhood, is much the same to me. Most of the Upper Court officials are completely detached from humanity much of the time, but their struggles and their vices are completely and totally human. Xie Lian is the most interesting of them all to me, since he's used his godhood to live the human life that he was never allowed when he was actually human, and I could go on an entire rant about that but I'll spare you the details. Every character in the series is so interesting in the way that their human problems have been left to grow and fester over the course of the centuries, and it's both awful and enthralling to watch.
oops that was so long my head is very full of thoughts. Thank you for the ask, even though it was kind of an arranged playdate lol I appreciate the chance to ramble <3

okay look i love destiel. im sick and ill about it. but i would also like more of cas thats. just cas? him on his own without the context of shipping. i think she deserves that at least. have you ever tried finding castiel centric content that isnt ship focused? yeah. and i get it. her relationship with dean is like Integral to her story. and i dont mind ships included as a background presence. i just think he deserves his own spotlight as a separate entity from dean. she has more merit outside of deans boyfriend. dean is important to cas's character arc and her story of rebellion but hes also his own person who can be appreciated and analyzed outside of the context of romance.. whatever

Hi! Fellow Shinra fan! :)
I'd love a fic with Reeve and/or Rufus. Maybe them late night working on projects for Edge? (Together. Maybe begrudgingly, but also appreciative of the other's skill and competence.)
Hah, okay, so funny story. I spent literal years trying to make Rufus/Reeve a serious ship in this fandom.  So so many years.  I don't want to talk about how many years.  I blame The Conscience of the King for sticking in my head so thoroughly (you can find that here [http://www.midgar.net/king/] if you've never heard of or read it, but word of warning, it's so old that it's literally text files uploaded to a website; this thing was distributed via email rings back in the late 90s; needless to say, it does NOT take in any extended canon, only OG stuff).  Over the years, of course, I've taken most of them down in favor of my more general Turk-fic, but just. My first love, okay? It was always Rufus/Reeve. XD
Now, I realize you didn't expressly ask for Rufus/Reeve, but uh. Here's what you're getting: my trademarked ambiguous relationship style thing.  In my favorite time period, which is ambiguously before the start of the original game.  Mostly because WRO Reeve breaks my heart.
Prompted from this post. Still taking prompts! If you'd rather do a ship/character + number prompt or a symbol for a headcanon, I'm still doing those too.
In These Deep City Lights
Word count: 1274 words. Content Notes: Eh. Ambiguous relationship. Characters: Rufus Shinra and Reeve Tuesti. Summary: Reeve finds Rufus looking over one of the Midgar models.
Most people who wanted to look at a model of Midgar went to Memorial Hall on the 60th floor.  It was, after all, the most impressive of the models of Midgar, with the oversized Shinra Tower in the middle and the model reactors that flared on schedule for their secondary burn process.  But it wasn't Reeve's favorite of the models.  That honor went to the one on 34.  She was a smaller model, and her reactors didn't have the fancy show mechanics that the 60th floor did, but her pieces were moveable.  In the middle of the night, he usually had the model to himself.
That was precisely why seeing someone standing in the room surprised him.  They hadn't turned on the overhead lights, and instead, they appeared to be inspecting the model purely in the light from the city itself, pouring in through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Reeve had done that himself more times than he cared to count, and he watched the figure through the frosted glass that separated the model from the rest of the office for a few minutes before he finally went to the door.
He opened it to find Rufus leaning over the model, fingers sliding across the tops of the buildings in Upper Eight.  Reeve noticed immediately that several of the buildings were missing, and he spotted them arranged on the table to the side of the model nearest the windows.  It took him a moment, but his eyes widened as he realized that they were laid out almost identically to the last proposal for Sector Six that he'd sent the President.
He cleared his throat, but Rufus didn't jump.  He didn't even look up.  He simply made a low sound and moved another building from Sector Eight to the mocked-up representation of Six.  He studied it for another moment, and then he finally looked over at Reeve.
"Vice President," Reeve said, and he took another step into the room, letting the door shut behind him.  Under the weight of those blue eyes, that felt like a mistake.
"Reeve," Rufus murmured, and he looked back at his collection of buildings.
"I wasn't aware that you came down here," Reeve finally said, breaking the silence.  He crossed the room and picked up one of the buildings, turning it over between his fingers.
He watched as Rufus studied the model, eyes intent and focused, as though he could simply will Midgar into existence— compliance— with his gaze alone.  He spoke after a few minutes, voice measured and even, "Only when I need to see one of your proposals."
Reeve set the building he'd picked up back down where it went in Sector Four.  He supposed it made sense that Rufus would review the proposal— he was the Vice President, and despite the President's attempts to keep the position as something in name only, Rufus had done his damnedest to carve out some degree of control— but he was surprised by how seriously Rufus was taking it.
Especially when they both knew that the President himself would never approve the expenditure to rebuild Six.  There had been one chance to build Six, and when it collapsed during construction, it had taken all possibility of Midgar ever being completed with it.
"Is there anything you had concerns about?" Reeve asked instead.
Rufus straightened up, and he brushed his hair back from his face with a careless motion as he met Reeve's gaze.  "You've spent a lot of time on this one," he said instead of answering Reeve's question.
Or maybe it was the answer to Reeve's question.  He wasn't sure.
He couldn't look away from Rufus though.
"Clearly," Reeve replied, his voice low as he nodded toward the mock-up, "so have you."
A small smile touched the corner of Rufus' mouth, and he stepped in closer to Reeve, far closer than he had to in order to pick up the factory model from Four that Reeve still had his fingers on. Reeve pulled his hand back, yielding the piece to him, and Rufus' smile widened, eyes gleaming in the relative darkness of the room.  "I admire that dedication."  He turned the factory over in his hand, and then he held it up between their faces.  "You've skewed the sector too heavily to production, however."
Reeve's lips parted, and he reached up to take the factory from Rufus.  "My proposal—"
"Is bait," Rufus finished for him, raising an eyebrow.  Then he waved a hand toward the mock-up just beside him, turning to look at it once more.  "You skewed it toward things that make money because you know exactly what would catch the President's attention."
"It didn't work," Reeve pointed out after a second.  "Your father won't authorize the construction."
"My father will not be the one to complete my city."  There was a steel in Rufus' voice that caught Reeve's attention, and he smiled faintly at that possessive tone.  He set the factory back down in Four where it went once more.
"Your city?" he asked, and Rufus' eyes cut over to him, impossibly blue given how little light was actually in the room.
Rufus tilted his head slightly.  "Do you think otherwise?"
"No, of course not, sir,"  Reeve said immediately, dropping his gaze to the mock-up of Six that Rufus was still facing.
Rufus studied him for a long, quiet moment.  "You're supposed to say 'yes.'"
Reeve looked up at him sharply, watching the way the smile on Rufus' face looked a little less practiced, a little more real.  He hesitated, replaying what he'd said, and his eyes closed briefly as a faint laugh escaped him.  "You're right," he said softly.  "My duty is to serve the President's vision."
"Indeed," Rufus murmured.  Then he motioned toward the layout for Sector Six.  "Redo the proposal.  Focus on housing this time."
Reeve hesitated.  "You know that will never—"
"The President's vision will change eventually."
Reeve’s breath caught in his throat briefly.  On the surface, that was an innocuous enough statement, but standing in that room, awash in the glow of Midgar herself, with the way Rufus was looking at him...
Rufus wasn't just the Vice President, after all.  One day—
Rufus' hand closed on Reeve's tie— red tie, Shinra red because that's what the President gifted him every year for Yule — and he adjusted it carefully.  When his fingers smoothed over the silk, the touch was soft, gentle.
Reeve wasn't sure how long they stood there, watching one another, Midgar the only silent witness to the moment between them.  Then Reeve nodded slowly.
"I'll redo the proposal," he said softly, and there was no mistaking the momentary triumph that lit Rufus' eyes.
"Good.  I'll review it personally once it's finished."  Rufus' hand dropped away from Reeve's tie then.  "For now, go home."  He didn't wait to see if Reeve did as instructed.  Instead, he turned to look out at the city in the darkness.
Reeve wasn't sure he'd ever been dismissed from one of his own floors in the Tower.  He glanced past Rufus, toward the model parts scattered across the table, but before he could ask the question, Rufus waved a hand.
"I'll clean up before I leave."
Reeve nodded.  "Very well," he said and he lingered for only a heartbeat more before he turned and left.  When the door shut behind him, Reeve glanced back, watching the way Rufus was silhouetted in the lights, figure blurry in the frosted glass that separated the model room from the rest of the office.
He wasn't sure he'd ever been dismissed from one of his own floors in the Tower, but he supposed if anyone could do it, it was Rufus Shinra.
One day, the man would rule the world.
