Something I love about ATLA is that it doesn't force the "forgive the villain" on all the characters. It's been left clear that Ozai is a bad person, and there's no chance of redemption; the only reason he's not dead yet is because Aang is a pacifist

The one episode where a character is supposed to forgive someone who has hurt them in the past is the one where Katara is off to kill a man (which, fair) and Zuko helps. In that episode, even if Aang is telling her to let go, she doesn't forgive him. She never will. But she spares him. Not because she thinks he doesn't deserve death (he does), but because she's not willing to continue the cycle of violence

Killing someone can have a very important impact in your entire being, mostly depending on who you are as a person. Aang would've never recovered from killing Ozai. Katara wouldn't be who she is now, had she taken her revenge on the man that killed her mother

And the best part of it is that Ozai doesn't deserve to die. Not in a "I'm defending him" way (ew), but in a "he deserves worse that than" way

Taking away his bending was the perfect punishment for him. He believed bending made you superior and he never cared enough to train something besides his bending. What a loser. Zuko and Azula wouldn't be restrained by something like that

He's alive. Nobody has forgiven him. Nobody ever will

I think Leo Bardonaro is an anesthesiologist.

One, because an anesthesiologist's job is to take the 10 or 15 minutes max they have with a patient and essentially convince them to put their entire life in their hands. Other doctors and surgeons typically get a significantly longer chunk of time to interact with the patient and answer their questions, but at the end of the day, it is the anesthesiologist who will be keeping the patient alive, stable, and safe while the procedure is going on. For better or worse, Leo has the kind of relaxed, companionable personality that would not only be able to leave a patient laughing, but also to feel entirely at ease—he's confident, he's collected, and if he's not worried about this, why should they be?

Two, because I think he would've had way too much fun making jokes about laughing gas.

charming and caring and loyal to the core. calm and collected, rarely loses his cool, but can slip into a rampage of words and fury when angered or frustrated. extremely honest and patient with an innate ability and willingness to listen and understand. has a strong sense of duty and clearly defined moral principles. can read the room like no other and is quite good at mediating conflict. appreciates all things fitness and fashion and can be a bit vain. does not conflate failure or disappointments with his self-esteem or self-image. ruthlessly teases his friends, mostly sky but riven is a close second. enjoys all kinds of sports from swimming to martial arts and everything in between. if flirting was an olympic sport, brandon would win every single time.

16. A childhood headcanon

brandon once lost a bet with a school friend and had to sign up for a ballet class. although he only attended one class, he came to appreciate the art form to the extent that he began to incorporate his own version of ballet leaps into his workout routines, as depicted in season two, episode eleven.

18. How do you think they were as a kid?

very easygoing and exuberant. could effortlessly talk himself out of any situation due to his natural charisma and sense of humor. had a deep understanding of who he was and what he wanted to become from a young age, which gave him a sense of direction and purpose in his life but also forced him to experience a series of setbacks and mature quite fast.

That post got me thinking about Spike's role in btvs (and the buffyverse) and how "unprecedented" or "revolutionary" he was within that universe. Here's what I came up with:

Spike wasn't the first vampire to be shown as more than a mindless killer that existed only to be staked. That was Angel in S1. The existence of the soul complicated the vampire lore in a way that was new and unimaginable to the Scoobies (and to the audience) at the time.

Spike wasn't the first vampire to get a soul. That would be Angel and then Darla. (Reminder that it was only after he got a soul that he was seen as a viable option for and by Buffy on the show).

Spike wasn't the first vampire to die and be brought back. That would be Angel and then Darla again.

Spike wasn't the first vampire to fall in love with the slayer.

Spike wasn't the first "bad guy" to get a redemption arc. That would be Faith.

Spike wasn't the first ally/enemy/ally to tempt Buffy to join "the dark side". That would be Faith.

Spike wasn't the first lovable asshole/comic relief who the Scoobies tolerated to have around. That would be Cordelia. And Anya if we're talking demons who were at the time harmless. She joined the Scoobies even before Spike did, back in S4.

Spike wasn't the first vampire or the only person who Buffy felt she could be vulnerable with or share feelings she wouldn't share with anybody else. That was Angel (Ted in S2; Helpless in S3; Forever in S5, to name a few).

So yeah.

I am a female writer on the Gulf Coast of the United States, currently residing in the state of Mississippi near the amazing city of New Orleans. I have lived in both Louisiana and Mississippi and the culture of the bayou areas runs through my blood. I have one adult son, who is the light of my life, and a cat who thinks she is the goddess of it. The stories that are currently being published to Tumbler are the continuation of roleplays and solo writing that I have been writing for over 20 years; and that I decided to continue sharing with everyone. Some characters have intricate and elaborate backstories which I will unfold for you. Some are new and you will learn about as they reveal themselves to me. I hope you all enjoy.

Some call me a free spirit, I call me...me. It took me years to become comfortable in who I am, so I judge no one else. We all have our own journeys. I am here to support everyone else on theirs, so maybe they won't have to take as long to be able to love themselves. THE ANDROMEDA EFFECT

@the-andromeda-effect - In Greek Mythology Andromeda was sacrificed by her parents to save their kingdom from Poseidon's wrath after her mother offended him, but Perseus saves her from death by a Krackon and takes her to his kingdom to be his Queen. Mircea (Meer-cha) Kalavati wasn't sacrificing his wife to appease a god, or bring peace to his clan, he was doing it to start a war with another. His mistake when he hired Caliban Andros was lying to him about why he wanted her rescued, then killed to look like those who had kidnapped her had done it. Never lie to your hitman. Now, like Perseus to Andromeda, Caliban has rescued Riona Kalavati and something is drawing him to the woman. He will kill to keep her safe, and her husband is going to regret that lie for what remaining life he has left. Now as Adira Andros, she is definitely Caliban's Queen, and his "army" has rallied around her.

BATTLEGROUND OF DREAMS

@battlegroundofdreams - Morpheus & Melinoe are Dream Assassins, sent into the minds of sleeping human dreamers to take out Nightmares who can kill the dreamers. They have been trained and are the best at what they do. Put together as unwilling partners, they must learn to work together to keep one another alive. As they try to navigate a tentative partnership, they also take on the responsibility of becoming mentors to Lorien and Rua, a pair of recently graduated Dream Assassins who were almost killed by one of the most powerful Nightmares that any of them have ever faced. If the pairs cannot learn to work together, it could lead to disaster for them all. They will all learn more about themselves, and each other. Once lone wolves, they will become a pack, and one that Nightmares will come to fear. However, a Dream Assassin turned Nightmare from Morpheus' past will come and threaten them all, and test his will and loyalty. His decisions will either save Melinoe's life, or damn all four of them.

BENDING THE LAW

@bendingthelaws - Colin Masterson is the Cook Count State's Attorney. He has been on a mission to take down the head of a Chicago crime conglomerate that is headed by Constantin Rakeovich. Now someone has kidnapped his intern and is sending her back to him in tiny pieces. Is it Constantin? Is it another one of the people that Colin has crossed? Now he and those he trusts are going to have to figure it out before someone else disappears or is hurt. Complicating matters is that his brother, Colton Masterson is Constantin's defense attorney. The brothers have never been close, but in this situation, things take a much darker turn. Will Colton stand by his brother or his client? And what happens when something bigger happens and puts everyone Colin cares about in the crosshairs? If you are a fan of Law & Order, or any of those types of shows, this is much in the same vein and will involve more than just the lawyers. All characters are human. There is no supernatural beings or magic. Some places are going to be fictional, but the main setting is the city of Chicago.

MAGICAL MISTAKES

@magical-mistakes-vm - Vollrath, the Master Warlock of the local Coven, encounters Mahala (Mah-HAY-lah) preparing to do a ritual on his land.
