When people think/write about adult quirkless deku AU where he never got ofo and never became a hero, that he'd be all rage filled and hate bakugo still.

But I feel there's a lot of missed opportunities where he's not rage-filled and hateful but just awkward and weirded out by the whole situation.

Like imagine you're Izuku, you are now a grown ass man, you are completely over Middle School and all of the events that transpired there, you don't really care about Katsuki.

But the problem is you see his face everywhere. Taking the bus to work? Bam! Childhood bully on a billboard. Trying to watch a YouTube video? Bam! Unskippable ad of your childhood bully trying to sell you cookware.

You go on a hero forum to nerd out and you see a couple posts talking about how "Hot hero Dynamite is", and you just have to remember that this is the same guy who, when you were five, you were at a sleepover together and he peed the bed and you had to help him hide the evidence and agree to never speak of it again.

The whole situation is just so unbelievably awkward. And gods forbid you ever try to talk to anyone about heroes irl.

You start talking about heroes but then they bring up Dynamite and you have to try to change the conversation to a different hero without them getting suspicious. You're doomed if you get into a conversation with someone you find out to be a super fan of his. Or worse, you call him "Kacchan" out of habit and then they look at you weird.

And you're not just going to go around telling people that you grew up with him. Cuz either they don't believe you or they just think you're weird and still salty about your childhood.

You really don't care about him anymore! You just wish he would stop popping up in your life.

we don't want izuku to be quirkless in the end blah blah blah, yeah i know. same.... but also, it could be cool.

imagine he still becomes a great hero, but quirkless? he's the first quirkless hero? and maybe that message is not one for mha to tackle, but hear me out:

what if his arc is him wanting so badly to have a quirk, getting one, learning that being a hero is inherent to himself and not attached to his quirk/abilities, giving his quirk up, AND still being a great hero? wouldn't that be awesome?!

i think that type of character trajectory is unique and interesting in and of itself. but i also know my personal experiences in life contribute to why i think it's cool. i became sick and chronically ill in my late-teens/early-twenties. i lost my health. over the past 5 years, i've regained a lot of it, but i'm not 100% better (and most likely will never be). i've had to go through the arduous process of accepting my physical limits through many iterations of functionality yet learning when i was actually being held back by mental limits/fears and how to push past those.

i relate to izuku's character on many levels: wanting so badly to have something i don't, trying so hard despite not having that thing, and getting that thing you wished so badly for seemingly out of the blue (for me, it was a medication that drastically improved my health). i also relate to his self-destructiveness in name of a goal and sense of (sometimes unwanted) martyrdom.

but i was always a little disappointed throughout the series in the fact that izuku's big problem at the beginning was just seemingly resolved by him getting his quirk from all might. does he view his quirkless self as worthy as his OFA self? we don't know. (do i view my sick self as worthy as my "healthy" self? i don't know.)

so, i just think, if izuku loses his quirk, there is more room for growth for him. in other words, he becomes more interesting. and i get it, this is a shonen manga, it's ending soon, and it's supposed to have an inspiring message (i assume). so maybe it ending with him being quirkless is not something that belongs in this category of manga/anime. but if any series can break the mold, isn't it mha?

We don’t talk enough about kirideku. But like, especially if they had met during middle school. kirideku meeting in middle school and being besties.

Izuku runs into kiri and Mina when he’s running away from katsuki and the other bullies, and kiri and Mina help him/stand up for him/whatever, and they start a little chaotic trio who won’t stand for bullies.

They’re just a wonderful little group.

And Mina watches the two dorks get crushes on each other and decides to play match maker, because she’s awesome and she will make sure that her dumbass friends get all the happiness

But just Mina and kiri telling izuku that he can be a hero without a quirk, and that he’s strong and smart and manly and so much more. And they run into katsuki and the kids that follow him around, and they’re all confused and yelling at izuku, and izuku stands up for himself!!! And kiri and Mina stand up for him too, and maybe izuku switches schools, I don’t know. I just have too many feelings about this 🥹

But yeah. Kirideku meeting in middle school with Mina being the perfect goddess that she is. Thank you.

Absolutely not. I forbid it. He’s a menace with a RAP sheet longer than you are tall and you’re also a menace who enjoys chaos more than you’ll ever admit outright. The two of you meeting has Bad Idea™ written all over it in lights. Mainly for me.” Shōta just stares at him, deeply unimpressed.

A fic where both characters are feral gremlins and absolutely perfect for each other. Izuku never went to UA, and as an adult he has been arrested many many times (for all the right reasons). And one of these times, Shouta is at the precinct talking to Tsukauchi and he gets *curious*, to Tsukauchi's horror.

Super funny story. Izuku is a Menace and feral and confident and amazing. And Shouta is loving everything about him.

There’s a dude in the Justice League who’s just really fucking good at boxing and knocking people the fuck out with his hands. There’s a dude in the Avengers who’s just good with a bow and arrow. There’s just a guy who’s a very good investigative journalist who knows martial arts. A chick who’s really good at shooting people, martial arts, and spying. Folks who use tech that they found or was given to them with no idea how to make the shit but use the shit to the best they can.

(This is one of my previous posts but in an easier to read format for some people)

When izuku is diagnosed quirkless his mum signs him up to martial arts, parkour, and ballet classes so that he can defend himself.

BAMF Quirkless Izuku is born! (Inko also gets very buff)

All might never gives Izuku his power but Izuku is determined to be a hero anyway.

*on the day of entrance exam*

Izuku: *shows up quirkless and even buffer than in canon*

Robot: *appears*

Izuku: *casually punches robot so it breaks*

Teachers: *unaware he is quirkless* omg

Izuku: *running through and just single punch breaking these robots*

Teachers: Omg!

Zero pointer: *appears*

Uraraka: *hurt and trapped*

Izuku: *runs forward without thinking and flying side kicks robot*

Zero pointer: *dents and falls backwards*

Teachers: wow that strength enhancement quirk of his sure is powerful!

Quirkless Paramedic Izuku

Okay. Idea. You know how I’m some cities Paramedics are stationed in firehouses? What if in MHA there are paramedics stationed in Hero Agencies?

So like, Izuku doesn’t get OFA. He still applied to Hero Schools, but only UA even lets him try. He still saves Uraraka, bc he’s Izuku, but it’s much less flashy and dramatic so he only get like 25 Rescue Points. He gets put in Gen Ed. He fights his ass off at the Sports Festival, but is beaten by Todoroki. 2nd year, again makes it to the final round of the Sports Festival and puts up a good fight, but is beaten by a Hero Course student bc no matter how hard he trains, it’s not the same as being trained by Pro-Heroes for the job.

It’s around that time the Teachers realize that Izuku isn’t going to have his dreams crushed and settle into a mediocre desk job like most. And Izuku is angry, especially at Shinso, bc Shinso failed just like Izuku did but he still gets a chance.

It’s Aizawa who eventually points out that there are no Quirk requirements to be a Paramedic like there are for Fire Fighters, Police, Doctors, etc. and that Izuku doesn’t have to be a Pro Hero to save people with a smile (WHICH WAS HIS TRUE DREAM).

He graduates. Goes to the Paramedic academy. Deals with discrimination from his mentors and peers. Is assigned the worst areas. Is pushed into failing. But rises above every time. Eventually working his way to the coveted position of Hero Agency Paramedic just as Class 1-A is finishing their sidekick years.

When Izuku is assigned to a new Agency as one of their paramedics, he expects it to be another attempt to break him and force him out. Of course, that was their intention, but the new agency is one all of 1-A started. They expected Izuku to crack under the pressure of being the medic for 20 new heroes and any civilian casualties they cause (typically higher with new heroes). Instead they put him in the perfect environment to thrive bc some of 1-A remember him and are PUMPED to have him working with them.
