Katsuki knew this kid when he was 4, they would play and pretend to be heroes almost daily. He remembered the boys green fluffy curls and sparkling round eyes and his insistence to follow him. At the time it was annoying, at the time he was a stupid kid who didn’t realize how happy he was. He teased the boy and nicknamed him Deku.

Then the boy with green hair and eyes introduced his dad. Katsuki immediately hated the man, and he made a poor impression by kicking him in the shin when he grabbed Deku by the arm. The father told Izuku at the end of their hang out he didn’t like Katsuki and they were going to have to limit their visits.

The few times they hung up from the point on Katsuki realized the green eyes were sad, he mentioned lightly how his dad knew best and getting in trouble was the worst and time outs were so cold and dark. The boy told him he wasn’t allowed to play heroes anymore. Deku mentioned his father was at the limit, and if his quirk didn’t show up soon he’d be in big trouble. They pretended that day that Deku had found his quirk. He looked at the green eyes and grinned, ‘I’ll bet it’ll come tomorrow.’ Deku smiled sadly, ‘tomorrow would be too late.’

That was the last time he saw Deku. After a week of unexplained absence their teacher called the police. And Izuku Midoriya became a missing person.

Looking back into his memories Katsuki realized Izuku had enormous bruises and scars under his shirt and that his fathers presence immediately petrified Izuku making him quiet and obedient. He had no evidence and the police officer who did listen to a 5 year old didn’t find Deku. Katsuki grew up and made a promise. Even when all the heroes gave up on finding Izuku, he looked into the stars and promised to find Izuku as his first task as a Prohero. There was no option for failure.

Then he was kidnapped by the league and met all for one face to face. He called him a little hero. Mocking him. But the name felt like a memory. Izuku’s father had said it at one time with just as much loathing. All for one was the horrible man he kicked in the shins, the one who took his Deku.

That day Katsuki had a quirk awakening. But all for one had Escaped.

He trained and studied under Aizawa and All Might. Learning quickly he was no match in skill. But would steal the lost boy just as AFO did. Quietly and while no one was looking. They proceeded with care. Everything fell together when they found a recording of a boy in a dirty shirt looking out a window his hair filled with dirty ratty and long with just a hint of green at the roots.

Katsuki with his first day on the job as a prohero faked an injury. Hundreds of heroes raided a nomu lab the following week and Katsuki slipped into the building and and found Deku. He was small, clearly malnourished, pale and shivering. Izuku saw him and tried to run but his foot was chained to the ground. Katsuki knelt and he used that old nickname that fit like an old glove and a small flicker of recognition sparkled in Izuku’s eyes. Izuku took his hand and finally after all those years.

Katsuki had found Izuku and took him home.

Bad Ending Event-AFO Writing & Art

EDIT: PRIZES HAVE CHANGED

Starting at the beginning of February, @possiblycringe and I will be hosting a Bad Ending event featuring All for One!

Writing or drawing a bad ending can be a challenge, so this is a great event if you want to push yourself to try something different!

This event allows for 3 different types of bad ending scenarios: a bad ending(the bad guy wins) at the end of your story, the aftermath of a bad ending, or nobody wins. You could even mash 2 or 3 of them together if you so choose!

Requirements

At least 1k word requirement for writers

Artists can do anything as long as it sticks with the bad ending theme and features AFO

MUST include AFO! However, including Yoichi, DFO(Dad for One), or other characters is acceptable as well as whatever world or setting you want. I.E. Real world/No Quirks, fantasy, sci-fi, historical, etc. All AUs are welcome!

Horror and gore are perfectly fine for writers and artists. Obviously, NO NSFW(you know what I mean!)

Prizes

Winners in writing or art have the option to choose either a fic or an art piece. This is a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE rule. I.E. Once both 1st prize winners are chosen, which ever 1st prize winner contacts me first and chooses art or fic, the other 1st place winner will get what the first contact didn’t pick. This is being done to give winners an option between the two, but to make it fair so one of us isn’t doing more than the other!

Dad December - Day Eleven: "It's Alright to Be Afraid."

Summary: Thinking he sees a monster, Izuku cries out for his parents.

Trigger warnings: Implied/referenced bullying

May I offer you some cute/wholesome DFO content in these trying times?

It’s that weird time of morning where it’s not quite night and not quite day. The in-between where shadows lurk, and no living thing makes a peep.

Izuku lays on his side, clutching his teddy bear closer. His eyes are shut tight, and nothing and no one will make him open them. If he opens them, then the monster under his bed will know he’s awake. At least…that’s what Kacchan told him.

But the tension of lying still is too much for his overly energetic five-year-old self, so it’s really not Izuku’s fault when his eyes slide open.

Across his room, staring into his very soul, is a pair of glowing eyes. They glim in the dark, taunting Izuku. So, he does what every child would do when faced with a monster about to strike.

He sits up, sucks in a mouthful of air, and cries out. “Mommy! Daddy!”

It’s less than a minute later that his parents are crowding into his room. His mommy flicks the light on, banishing the shadows. Izuku is instantly flooded with relief. His parents are here. Everything is going to be okay.

“Izuku, baby, why are you shouting?”

“Monster!” He cries again, pointing to his bookshelf. Only to spot an All Might action figure. “I promise it was right there.”

Mommy sighs. When she speaks it’s directed at his daddy. “Hisashi, I knew we shouldn’t have let him watch that video. It’s too upsetting, and now he’s having nightmares.”

Despite her words not being said to him, Izuku can’t help but feel a little offended. He didn’t have nightmares. “Mommy, I was awake.”

She ignores him. “I mean it. We need to start regulating his computer time more.”

His daddy nods, which only makes Izuku more annoyed. Why weren’t his parents talking to him? He’s sitting right here. “You’re right, but maybe we can discuss that more tomorrow. How about you go back to bed? I can take care of Izuku.”

His mommy comes over and gives him a kiss on the forehead. She says she loves Izuku, and then she’s gone, back to his parents’ bedroom.

Daddy is quiet, sitting on the edge of the bed. He looks over Izuku with an unreadable expression. It’s always so hard to tell what he’s feeling.

“Are you mad at me?” Izuku asks, not actually wanting a answer to his question. It seems, nowadays, everyone is mad at him. He can’t do anything right - Kacchan told him that, too.

His daddy’s eyes soften. He likes daddy’s eyes. They’re red, like Kacchan’s, but more vibrant. Like the wine mommy and daddy drink during the New Year celebrations.

“No, Izu, I’m not mad. I’m just confused.”

“Confused? About what? Can I help?” All Might says the best heroes are the ones that are helpful. And despite what Kacchan might say, Izuku will never stop trying to help (even if he does make things worse). He crawls out from under his blankets, to sit in his daddy’s lap.

His daddy holds him close. “You, mostly.”

“Me?” Izuku asks, putting a hand over his heart.

“You,” daddy confirms. “I don’t understand why you’re not okay with being afraid. You act like it’s a character flaw, like me or your mom will think less of you, if you are.”

Izuku furrows his eyebrows. His daddy uses a lot of big words when he’s serious about something, but he can kind of guess what daddy means. “Kacchan and Tsbuasa-Chan said I was a crybaby for being afraid.” It hits him then how much their words actually affected him. It had been two weeks since they teased him about being afraid of the dark, but their jeers stayed in his memory. His eyes water up.

“It’s alright to be afraid,” his daddy murmurs, pressing Izuku even closer to his chest. A large hand soothes his hair back. “And even if there are monsters in this house, I can promise you Izuku, without a doubt, I am one hundred percent scarier than them. I am the scariest thing in this house.”

Izuku giggles. “Daddy, you aren’t scary.”

The hand pauses in his hair. “I’m not?”

He shakes his head, basking in the warmth his daddy’s giving off. “Nuh, uh. You’re nice and brave and kind, and I love you lots and lots.” He eyes his bookshelf where he spotted the monster earlier. “And I don’t love monsters, but I love you so you can’t be a monster.” Izuku smiles.

But daddy doesn’t respond to him, just continues to stroke Izuku’s hair. It’s a good five minutes before either of them speak again.

“Did I ever tell you I had a younger brother?”

“I had an uncle? What’s his name? How much younger was he? Did he look like you? What was his quirk?” Izuku is practically vibrating with energy, envisioning someone he’s never met before. “Can I see him?”

His daddy chuckles. “Keyword is had, Izu. My brother died years before I met your mother.”

Izuku deflates. “Oh.”

“But I know he would have loved you.” His daddy swallows heavily. “He…uh…he liked heroes, too.”

His eyes light up. “Really?”

“Really. And I just know that he would have loved you, so, so much.”

“Daddy? Daddy, are you crying?”

His daddy sniffles, hiding his face on his shoulder. “No.”

Izuku snuggles closer to him. “It’s okay, daddy. I’m sure uncle loved you lots, too.”

His daddy says nothing, squeezing him tight. Eventually, they fall asleep. Daddy lays on his bed, arms wrapped around Izuku, keeping him close to his chest. It’s the best night sleep that either of them will ever get.

The next morning, mommy opens his bedroom door to see the light still on, and her two favorite people in the whole wide world snuggling together. If she snaps a photo to remind their son that he’s always been loved, later down the line, then that’s no one else’s business but hers (and the rest of her family, but they show no signs of waking up anytime soon).

Villain Deku Idea: Singularity

Admittedly, this is more a Quirk Idea than an actual character, but I still want to put it out there.

A DFO AU where Izuku’s power is a true hybrid of AFO & Pull, able to steal Quirks at a distance...but with a twist.

The Quirk, “Singularity” acts similar to a power exhibited by the character Eidolon from the web serial Worm, which allowed the character in question to essentially drain the overarching “superpower provider” so to say, of other superhumans.

When Singularity is triggered, it begins to "Pull in” nearby Quirks, lessening the potency of Emitter & Transformation types while complex Mutants begin to recede, leaving the normal human underneath. Izuku in turn can begin to use these powers in ever increasing potency, until Singularity is turned off, the victim leaves the Quirk’s area of effect, or they are left essentially Quirkless.

Quirk usage increases the rate of draining, and more powerful Quirks take longer to drain. The big catch is, the draining is only temporary, and once Singularity is released, or they get far enough away, the drained Quirks will return their owners...

...Unless they’re killed before Singularity ends.

The other big catch is that when the original wielder is killed, Izuku only gets the power he drained, and not the full Quirk, and he can’t stack Quirks like AFO, though he can use enhancers to buff up his other powers, and he can only use three of his powers at once.

It cannot be stolen by AFO, and does not directly affect AFO (though both can drain each other’s stolen Quirks) or OFA

I am once again in search of a fic.

So, bnha fandom, I tripped and fell back into my dfo phase. However, I cannot for the life of me remember what this particular fic is called, nor can I find it within my bookmarks.

Basic synopsis;

•Begins while Izuku is still training to receive OFA from All Might. He is still 'quirkless'.

•Someone is going around kidnapping quirkless people, and Izuku gets snatched.

•Dfo and All Might end up working together to find their son... Somehow.

•Turns out Izuku has the AFO quirk but was too... Izuku to actually use it - bc while he loves quirks and can think of a million ways he could use them if they were his, he's never gone so far as to wish he had a person's quirk INSTEAD of them.

•That changes when he and a whole bunch of other people are about to become victims of human trafficking.

•He's still the same person he's always been, and gives the quirk back once everyone's safe.

And... That's basically all I remember.

Why All for One is Izuku’s Father pt. 9 — Izuku is Foreshadowed to be the Next All for One (Updated)

“Can the child do it, I wonder?” I’ll let him do all the work so that he can become the next “me”! That child was born warped enough to do so.

Dissect this phrase first: “I’ll let him do all the work.”

All for One implies that Izuku has chosen a path that is hardworking, struggling, and thorny: “The path you’ve chosen is a thorny one. Every battle grinds away at your soul with no end in sight.” In other words, a lot of hard work (blood, sweat, effort, heavy lifting, and tears) are on the path Izuku’s chosen since the beginning.

All for One: I’ll let him do all the hard work so that he can become the next “me”!

All for One’s secret plan has always been to make Izuku into the next All for One. He’s next—or, in other words, it’s his turn.

Bonus: In Chapter 287, consider what Yoichi (the first holder of One for All) said to his brother, All for One: “So, is he the next in line, brother?”

Next. The next All for One. Clearly, despite the little that the audience knows of All for One, there’s more to his lore.

After all, what did Yoichi mean when he asked if “he was the next in line”? As if All for One has done this before.

IMO: I believe All for One will make Izuku into the next “All for One” (whatever this means) in order to unite AND gain the quirk One for All once and for all. As mentioned in a previous post, the quirk All for One is unable to take One for All (even if Shigaraki has it). As mentioned in a previous post, Shigaraki is a Red Herring, meant to distract from who All for One truly wants to inherit his legacy and title: Izuku Midoriya. As mentioned in a previous post, it’s mentioned that the quirk All for One grows stronger, more impure, and more corrupt with each generation—what if All for One has been purposely making his quirk stronger by an unknown means for the purpose of finally being strong enough to take the quirk One for All back? To make the quirk All for One finally limitless in potential?
