we don't want izuku to be quirkless in the end blah blah blah, yeah i know. same.... but also, it could be cool.

imagine he still becomes a great hero, but quirkless? he's the first quirkless hero? and maybe that message is not one for mha to tackle, but hear me out:

what if his arc is him wanting so badly to have a quirk, getting one, learning that being a hero is inherent to himself and not attached to his quirk/abilities, giving his quirk up, AND still being a great hero? wouldn't that be awesome?!

i think that type of character trajectory is unique and interesting in and of itself. but i also know my personal experiences in life contribute to why i think it's cool. i became sick and chronically ill in my late-teens/early-twenties. i lost my health. over the past 5 years, i've regained a lot of it, but i'm not 100% better (and most likely will never be). i've had to go through the arduous process of accepting my physical limits through many iterations of functionality yet learning when i was actually being held back by mental limits/fears and how to push past those.

i relate to izuku's character on many levels: wanting so badly to have something i don't, trying so hard despite not having that thing, and getting that thing you wished so badly for seemingly out of the blue (for me, it was a medication that drastically improved my health). i also relate to his self-destructiveness in name of a goal and sense of (sometimes unwanted) martyrdom.

but i was always a little disappointed throughout the series in the fact that izuku's big problem at the beginning was just seemingly resolved by him getting his quirk from all might. does he view his quirkless self as worthy as his OFA self? we don't know. (do i view my sick self as worthy as my "healthy" self? i don't know.)

so, i just think, if izuku loses his quirk, there is more room for growth for him. in other words, he becomes more interesting. and i get it, this is a shonen manga, it's ending soon, and it's supposed to have an inspiring message (i assume). so maybe it ending with him being quirkless is not something that belongs in this category of manga/anime. but if any series can break the mold, isn't it mha?

(This is one of my previous posts but in an easier to read format for some people)

When izuku is diagnosed quirkless his mum signs him up to martial arts, parkour, and ballet classes so that he can defend himself.

BAMF Quirkless Izuku is born! (Inko also gets very buff)

All might never gives Izuku his power but Izuku is determined to be a hero anyway.

The Sports Hero: Deku

A Quirkless hero/hero-in-training Izuku Midoriya idea where he has a gimmick with his equipment that relies on being underestimated and the element of surprise.

In this prompt, Midoriya took up a fascination with pre-Quirk era sports and inventing to go with his hobby of studying people's Quirks to cope with his own Quirklessness. Eventually, Midoriya starts developing hero equipment that looks like ordinary sports equipment. Things like baseball-shaped grenades (regular, net, ice, etc.), vibrating fencing saber to enhance cutting and piercing power, a whistle that can work like Present Mic or Jiro's Quirks, strength-enhancing goalie gloves, etc.

Since Izuku is also interested in sports, he might be in better physical condition than canon through practice. Meaning if you still want to give One For All to him, he'll be better prepared for it.

Along with his Class 1-A friends, you could even have Midoriya become friends with the members of the Support Department since he may spend a lot of time in their lab to develop his equipment and trade ideas with the rest of them.

Soft

Pro hero Katsuki rescues a quirkless civilian who's a little too brave and reckless for his own good (he's also the cutest thing Katsuki has ever seen) and who also happens to be Katsuki's long lost childhood friend, Midoriya Izuku.

They meet a couple of times, Katsuki apologizes for the things he did as a kid and they become friends, the problem is that Katsuki falls head over heels for the nerd and becomes embarrassingly soft for him.

Which leads to Izuku think the other has changed quite a lot and now he's the nicest, kindest pro hero alive. He's constantly frowning at the tweets he sees about Dynamight and all the people that claim to have had the pro hero growling at them or curse them at some point.

One of them assures he was rescuing a couple of people and after he made sure they were okay, he told them to "Stop being such useless extras and not to run into a fight between a hero and a villain ever again."

Izuku is sure all those are just lies, because the Katsuki he knows now would never say something so rude to anyone. He usually gets mad at the articles or videos that talk about Katsuki like a bad-tempered pro hero, having no idea the blond is only nice to him.

Eventually, people start to notice; Izuku runs into another problem as a villain starts making a mess near the building the green haired man lives in... Fortunately, Dynamight takes care of the villain and rescues the civilians.

People notice he has one young, cute man in his arms and hasn't let go of him the entire time; they look with confusion at them because the pro hero hasn't snapped at him not even once.

Then Dynamight leaves this mysterious man on the ground as his eyes roam all over his body with worry before he takes the other's face in his hands. Some of them worry for the cute man only to stare in shock as the pro hero smiles softly at him.

"Are you alright, Izuku?" The people near them manage to hear the pro hero's voice in the softest tone ever; they can't believe it.

"Just a couple of scratches. Don't worry about me, Kacchan!"

"Stop running into trouble, nerd." Dynamight scolds him with a fond smile on his face.

"I'll try," Izuku says with a chuckle before Katsuki takes him to one of the paramedics who has had the misfortune to have dealt with the pro hero before.

She expects a growl or a snarl but none of that happens.

"Take care of him," Dynamight says, clearly making an effort to be nice, then, he takes another look at the young man next to him and adds, almost in a whisper: "Make sure he's alright, please."

When she's left alone with the cute civilian, who smiles at her almost shyly, she can't stop herself from blurting out:

"Who are you?"

"Midoriya Izuku! Nice to meet you!"

She introduces herself, even though that's not what she meant at all.

The "incident" becomes viral after that. Everyone starts talking about Dynamight and the cute man named Izuku who's apparently just his "friend".

Some people don't believe that, they're sure Dynamight is secretly dating him and the ones who believe it, are sure the pro hero is absolutely in love with the cute civilian.

There are pictures of them all over Twitter; Dynamight carrying Izuku in his arms and looking down at him with worry as he puts him out of harm's way. Dynamight wearing civilian clothes, going out with Izuku and smiling at him with a fond look on his face. His fans didn't even know he was capable of smiling.

Another photo of them getting out of a coffee shop; the pro hero is opening the door for Izuku, while staring at him with what people call "heart eyes". Then another of Dynamight carrying a couple of bags full of All Might merch and a happy Izuku with stars in his eyes babbling about something while the blond grins from ear to ear at him.

Of course, Katsuki's friends find out about it and they demand to meet the cute man in the pictures.

Katsuki growls at them before reluctantly agreeing.

"But if you don't behave, I'll blast all your faces off!"

"I still can't believe a cinnamon roll like him is friends with Bakugo," Kaminari says, looking down in confusion at the photos on his phone.

"He's soft for him, haven't you heard?" Ashido chuckles, sitting next to Kirishima on the table.

"I don't think Bakugo is capable of being soft," Kaminari argues with a frown upon his face.

"Of course Bakubro can!" Kirishima says, although he doesn't look entirely sure.

However, that's when they see it: Bakugo has walked in the coffee shop with the green haired man next to him. He's young and so incredibly cute. They even look oddly good together; completely opposites, but like they belong with each other somehow.

Ashido notices the moment Bakugo puts a hand on the other's back as they move through the place until they reach their table.

"Hi! I'm Midoriya Izuku! I'm so happy to meet you!"

Kaminari's jaw drops as they all watch Bakugo waiting for Midoriya to sit first before sitting next to him himself. He hasn't growled or narrowed his eyes once since he walked in the place.

He's even smiling at Midoriya as the others introduce themselves and he proceeds to explain to Bakugo's friends he met him in preschool.

"Are you hungry, Izuku? Would you like something to eat or drink? Maybe both?"

No one can believe it; Bakugo asking softly to someone else, leaning closer and putting a hand gently on another's shoulder? It's so weird.

"Yes! Could please bring me a chocolate muffin and a salted caramel mocha, Kacchan?"

"You're going to get cavities from all that sweet, nerd..."

Midoriya pouts, Bakugo inevitably sighs and rolls his eyes before lovingly running his fingers through the other's hair.

"Fine..."

"Bakubro, can you bring me–"

"You have two functional legs, don't you, shitty hair?"

"Kacchan!" Midoriya looks up, a little bit surprised since he's sure Bakugo is kind to everyone.

"Fine! What do you want, shitty... I mean, Kirishima?"

At the end everyone ends up telling Bakugo what they want and Midoriya decides to go help him bring everything to the table.

Ashido takes the opportunity to look at her two friends, who still look as shocked as she feels.

"Looks like Bakugo is in love..."

Kirishima nods, trying not to chuckle, however, his smile disappears when he notices Ashido's expression.

"No."

"Come on! We can help him! I have an idea!"

"Your ideas always make Bakubro mad..."

"Trust me, he'll be so happy afterwards he'll even thank me..."

It's definitely not a good idea.

Summary: The brighter the light, the darker the shadows. And in a super-powered society, those shadows are dark indeed. But whilst the world desperately trained more and more heroes, making that light brighter and brighter, the prestigious hero school, UA, had another idea. Why not tackle the problem at its source?

And so was born the infamous class 1-A. Would-be criminals from all over the country were selected, and a group of twenty now roam the halls of the school, alongside the heroes of the next generation.

Last year, the entirety of Mr Aizawa’s class A graduated. But this year was different. No, he didn’t believe they would all graduate back into society like the classes before them. He believed they could become something bigger. That was why, with gritted teeth and a manic smile, Eraser Head turned to his new class of students and said:

"You aren't villains - you never were, and you never will be. But you can take that fire inside of you and put it to good use. We're in a hero school, aren't we? Well then...

"Let's be heroes."

Review: The concept of a Villain / Reformation Class 1-A is an amazing one.

I started out as confused as Midoriya about what he could've done to get placed there. Even when you're finally told the whole story, you can't really say he deserved the placement - even if everything worked out in the end.

The best part of this story is the backstories created for all the 1A kids. They were all in character, and their reasons for being labeled 'villainous' resonated as something their canon versions would've actually done.

Whether it be Iida going after Stain (which, of course, he actually DID do), Jiro overhearing a secret she shouldn't have, Uraraka becoming a thief to support her struggling family, or Todoroki becoming a young villain assisted by, and alongside, Dabi (who he's aware is Touya) as rebellion against Endeavor's abuse.

The stories go on and on.

Midoriya has a lot of the traits in this fic that other Villain AU versions of himself have. What's craziest about that is that he doesn't actually START to consider villainy as an option until he's wrongly labeled as one.

I'd say most of these kids are wrongly labeled as villains, though. And I think it's stupid to give kids that label so easily for simple things such as a dangerous hard to control quirk, a previous vigilante career, or knowing things or believing things hero society thinks they shouldn’t.

All their attempts to change their fate, or the way they’re perceived, are ingenious. I'll definitely be looking for more fanfictions with this premise.

Quirkless Paramedic Izuku

Okay. Idea. You know how I’m some cities Paramedics are stationed in firehouses? What if in MHA there are paramedics stationed in Hero Agencies?

So like, Izuku doesn’t get OFA. He still applied to Hero Schools, but only UA even lets him try. He still saves Uraraka, bc he’s Izuku, but it’s much less flashy and dramatic so he only get like 25 Rescue Points. He gets put in Gen Ed. He fights his ass off at the Sports Festival, but is beaten by Todoroki. 2nd year, again makes it to the final round of the Sports Festival and puts up a good fight, but is beaten by a Hero Course student bc no matter how hard he trains, it’s not the same as being trained by Pro-Heroes for the job.

It’s around that time the Teachers realize that Izuku isn’t going to have his dreams crushed and settle into a mediocre desk job like most. And Izuku is angry, especially at Shinso, bc Shinso failed just like Izuku did but he still gets a chance.

It’s Aizawa who eventually points out that there are no Quirk requirements to be a Paramedic like there are for Fire Fighters, Police, Doctors, etc. and that Izuku doesn’t have to be a Pro Hero to save people with a smile (WHICH WAS HIS TRUE DREAM).

He graduates. Goes to the Paramedic academy. Deals with discrimination from his mentors and peers. Is assigned the worst areas. Is pushed into failing. But rises above every time. Eventually working his way to the coveted position of Hero Agency Paramedic just as Class 1-A is finishing their sidekick years.

When Izuku is assigned to a new Agency as one of their paramedics, he expects it to be another attempt to break him and force him out. Of course, that was their intention, but the new agency is one all of 1-A started. They expected Izuku to crack under the pressure of being the medic for 20 new heroes and any civilian casualties they cause (typically higher with new heroes). Instead they put him in the perfect environment to thrive bc some of 1-A remember him and are PUMPED to have him working with them.

Jack of All Trades Quirk for Deku

He lies about having a quirk, and his parents pay off the doctor. Basically, he says that he's got a little bit of everything, and he works to keep it that way.

A little bit of strength enhancement (working out and Dagobah beach),

a little bit of speed (he runs and walks with weights on his wrists and ankles, as well as a weighted vest, plus carrying a heavy backpack on his back or arms, so that when he does without, he seems so much faster than everyone else (at least everyone baseline/not speed or leg quirked)),

a bit of a good aim with anything he picks up (he literally just practices with every weapon and object he can get his hands on, firing and throwing everything until he can do it with very little to no mistakes (archery, knives, bricks, food, etc) and he researches physics and such so that he can know how to calculate to get better),

his analysis is a mental and intelligence enhancement (he also gets amazing grades to prove),

a little bit of emotional manipulation (he learns how to weaponize his baby face, tears, and sunshine smile, as well as rallying people and making people angry etc, works even better if the person is caught off guard or open to the idea first (or emotionally unstable AKA shigaraki),

a little bit of a healing factor (he just naturally scars and heals faster, nothing provable, besides, i do it too!)

practices swimming to hold his breath longer and swim faster than average,

a little bit of a tech/tinkering ability (again, practice),

etc, come up with more.

You decide how it's revealed, or if it ever is, if he's smart enough to struggle when zawa uses quirk, if he tells zawa immediately, if Nedzu is fooled, if he becomes the Jack of All Trades or Card Deck Hero, or if he becomes a Quirkless hero, etc! Feel free to add on!
