I was glad that my school had uniforms - I was a weird kid, and I didn't need any extra reasons for kids to bully me. Uniforms made school life a little easier.

I hated the skirt, but when this AMAZING change came through, and I could wear SLACKS along with my shirt and tie?? I loved it.

I am sure my oversized, no-sign-of-feminine-curves interpretation of the uniform was not what they had in mind. But as someone who got a lot of unwanted attention from a young age because of the shape of my body, I was desperate for any way to hide myself.

The fact that I got mistaken for a boy sometimes gave me big feelings (which at the time I completely squashed down). It's not that I wanted people to think that I was a boy. But I loved that just for a moment, I felt free from the assumption of being 'a girl' - an identity which had always brought me attention I didn't want.

It's interesting to reflect on this time and realise I was having very big 🌸gender feelings🌸 which I am only now beginning to unpack as a nearly 40-year-old. Who knew?

Saints'Quarter, Chapter 10, is LIVE on Kickstarter!

In 2020, we printed Episode One: The Quarter, which compiled chapters 01-04 of the comic. In 2021, chapters 05-08 were collected into Episode Two: St. George St. At the end of 2022, the series officially made the transition to issue-by-issue printing with the funding of the start of the third volume, Chapter #09, which finished printing in Spring of this year.

Now, Episode Three: Club Jude continues with Chapter #10!

Two weeks after the events of All Saints’ Night, the residents of the ‘Quarter have tried to slip back into the normal swing of their lives. With magic severely drained for some, and the gaping hole of missing loved ones for others, barring the path back to that normal, it isn’t exactly easy.

Roe, Lucas, and the others are trying to get through the workday while echoes of the events of Halloween, All Saints' Night, and before continue to plague them...

The world-building here is great! There are three main races in the City Enduring: the keh-topli (sentient carnivorous plant-people), the @at (pronounced at-at, "artificial intelligence" folk), and the nah (humanoids with wings and a tail). The artist did an amazing job with the different types of peoples here, cityscapes, and other backgrounds. I love their use of color. I really enjoyed this! I think this kind of dynamic is OK if it's one that you've agreed to, that you both enjoy. But it was really not my jam. As someone who carries SO MUCH shame from the church, this kind of conversation really only fed into my insecurities. The church had ALREADY taught me that I was a 'whore' for being gay, for having a physical relationship outside of marriage. I had already internalised those messages, and hearing her say them - even as someone who cared about me - only made me more ashamed.
