living with choso might have just been the best mistake of your entire life. the intended plan was for you to finally get your own place but when you get there the place is in shambles. you got your deposit back when you threatened to get the police involved because the place looked nothing like its pictures.
choso had offered you his spare bedroom time and time again but you couldn't. choso was already such a good friend to you and you just didn't want to impose this on him. but of course, you're not even given a choice to ask him because the moment choso finds out how messed up your new apartment is he's already taken your stuff back to his place.
you're two months in and you realize choso and you had fallen into a pattern. a pattern that you hope won't everbreak. you wake up and choso's already made breakfast for the both of you. he says he's used to it from when he and his brothers used to live together, even though he only makes enough for two.
when you both arrive home from work, you either go out for food or order in and then of course you guys watch movies. "what do you mean you've never seen toy story?!"
"i didn't have much of a childhood, so i haven't seen a lot of movies" he mumbled quiety. for the rest of the night, the two of you had a toy story marathon with tons of snacks (provided by choso of course).
choso knew you loved to snack, so he learned to find your favorites in bulk. anytime you saw you snack on something when you hung out, he would memorize its name so he could buy more. he wanted to make his apartment as comfortable as he could for you. his place was meant to be yours.
sometimes the two of you would fall asleep on the couch together, all cuddled up together. however, it didn't start out like that, at first you would lean on choso's shoulder hoping he wouldn't mind. and eventually, he got annoyed with you just leaning on him and pulled you into his arms. you wanted to protest but you enjoyed it so much that you instead leaned into his body. whenever he'd feel you get comfortable in his arms or his lap he'd whisper "good girl" in your ear. coming from him those words drove you crazy and you wished you could hear them more.
on some nights, after you've both had a long day at work choso tends to carry you back to your room when you fall asleep. he even kisses your forehead and you've caught him doing it and you wish you had the guts to confront him on it so bad but you're happy here. so why risk it?
when choso works late you bring dinner to him and the two of you eat in his office. he always tells you, that you don't have to. that he can bring you dinner instead but when you warn him that you'll nice out he easily shuts up. you guys don't get to watch movies but you do get to talk.
"how's yuji?" you ask him after setting his food on his desk.
"enjoying college life apparently, nobara said they're going to a frat party tonight," he says while chucking.
"do you miss him?"
"why would i miss him when i have you?"
in your mind, there was no way he could've possibly meant that romantically. even after he changed the topic you were still thinking about it, thinking about what he meant and what could be going on in that head of his.
during the weekends, choso spends all his time with you. if you want to go shopping, he pays for everything, buys you lunch, and carries all your bags. he tells you it's in exchange for all the dinners you've bought him even though he's already paid you back for those. and when you get home he helps you try them all and all he can do is compliment you, like you're all his, "these jeans look so fucking good on you, can you only wear them in the apartment? just for me pretty girl?"
and you'd agree to his pleas cause, let's be real you only bought these jeans cause he keep eyeing you in them. and they way he cursed, you knew he wanted you because you felt the exact see way.
maybe living with choso a little longer wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Simon x Reader
(Fem!reader, mdni 18+, dubcon)
Second Part! Third Part!
Simon treats his girlfriend like a beautiful, exotic bird in a cage, pampering her in every way. Not letting her do or go out without his protection. He doesn't mean to be overbearing :( He wants his pretty woman to be safe. That's his job. She doesn't need to lift a finger around him.
Simon learns how to do beauty treatments for his lovely girlfriend, massaging her body in the finest of oils. He does her skincare routine for her. So she doesn't mess it up. She can be so silly sometimes! He does her hands and feet, painting on such a pretty colour he picked out for her.
Simon makes sure his pretty girlfriend has everything she needs. He decorated his home to her and his liking. He'll even move if she wants to be in the city/nature. Simon makes his love have an outdoor space, overlooking the scenery but still safe. He can't have her go off on her own, can he?! Simon will give her activities to do- knitting, an iPad (that may or may not have a child lock on), writing, reading, and art. He'll even get her a small animal or cat if she asks. An interest or hobby she had Simon will provide. Although he does get worried if she could hurt herself, he really can't have that :(
Simon loves his girlfriend so much! His heart sinks when she bedrots, wrapped in a blanket in their large king bed. He can't have that. He hovers over her for a while until he makes her sit up as he feeds her, making her eat at breakfast, lunch and dinner. He'll carry her out of their room. She'll still be wrapped up as he puts her on the couch. Giving her the TV remote and an iPad. Feeding her snacks and drinks whenever he thinks she needs them.
Simon gives his cute girlfriend free rain of his body but doesn't dare touch her without permission. Sure, he'll hold her down and force her to do things- but only because it's for her benefit! Simon needs to look after her since she does a horrible job at it! But he's a good boyfriend. Simon would never rape her. He's the best partner, after all! Mhm! Never ever!
He lets his girlfriend play with his cock anytime she wants, her well-manicured hands wrapped around his flushed length as she kisses his leaky tip. God, he just wants to shove his cock down her pretty throat :( She often doesn't give him a proper blowjob, just using his cock as something to toy with, something to fill up the time or if she wants something in her mouth while they watch a movie of her choosing.
It only turns him on more, his tummy full of pleasure and ache. She does such a good job playing with his cock! He has to reward his good girl! Stretching out her pretty cunt on his fingers or tongue. He likes to hear how her embarrassed pleas turn into sweet moans and whimpers. Simons is a good boyfriend, so he doesn't mind making her cum over and over while he humps the couch. He doesn't mind how his own cum sticks to his belly as he comes untouched :( He wishes he could have pumped it into her instead.

I just found your account, and I love your writing especially the ones with Geto!! (I love that man!!)I do apologize for asking but do think you would ever write more of chubby reader Geto? Especially the one where chubby darling is trying to make herself useful in his temple? I love that one especially!
I actually wanted to write a fic for that prompt for a LONG time but i never found the strength to finish it, so allow me to expand upon chubby reader who works in Geto's temple 💕
CW: chubby fem reader, non-sorcerer reader, Geto refers to reader as a "monkey" once, allusion to suicide, bullying, the twins are around 10-12 yrs old, smut (mostly implied)
───────────────
Let's start by saying that you're nothing special. You are not the type of girl that Geto would see himself with. It would take a miracle for him to fall for someone like you.
And yet, miracles happen every day, don't they?
Your family has acquired some debt. They have been paying Geto to exorcise curses for them, and he has always delivered, but they have run low on funds and there's still a nasty curse to take care of. They beg and plead with him to remove it, but he refuses to lift a finger until they bring him a hefty donation again.
That's where you come in.
You can't see or sense curses, but you've felt their effects, dealing with the repurcussions of your family's awful attitude. This latest curse is the worst of them all, feeding off of every negative thing your family spews, weighing you down with their toxic energy. You'd do anything to get rid of it, to finally know peace again.
So you offer a trade. You promise to provide your services to the sorceror if he exorcises this curse for you and your family.
Geto ponders this deal for a while. He believes that monkeys are only good for providing curses or money, so he doesn't see the appeal of you at first. But then he remembers that he recently disposed of his maid because the twins disliked her, so he decides to make the deal. He will dispose of the curse if you act as his maid, cooking, cleaning, the works.
You have no other choice, so you accept.
The work itself isn't hard. Dusting, sweeping, mopping, polishing. You cook breakfast and dinner, lunch if requested. You're starting to get callouses from the work, but that's the least of your worries.
The twins hate you. You don't expect them to like a non-sorcerer like you, but they're cruel without reason. They tip over your mop bucket and run off laughing, they leave worms in your bed, they once took scissors to your hair and cut a piece off. They are awful, but you know you can't fight back. You have to take the high road, be the bigger person, endure their hatred so you can get by. If you step out of line, Geto will kill you without hesitation, you know this for a fact. So, you don't fight back. You show no reaction. You pray they get bored of you before you jump off the roof of the temple. At least then you would find peace.
The girls get into a fight one day. Nanako ripped Mimiko's doll as payback and now the both of them are sobbing and yelling at each other. You think it's karma for how they've treated you.
And yet, you take the high road once more.
You separate the girls first, sending Mimi to the kitchen and Nana to the living room. You quietly sew and mend Mimiko's doll, eyes watching you as you did so. Once the doll was fixed, you coaxed Nanako to take the doll to her sister and apologize. Surprisingly, she did so, and the girls hugged. They went on their merry way, not hurling insults at you for once. You go back to your chores.
The girls ask, no, demand lunch a few days later. You comply, making onigiri and cutting fruit into fun shapes, adding a cookie for dessert. The girls coo about the hearts and stars on their plates before digging in. They take their plates to the sink when they're finished and linger for a moment, staring at you. You ask what's wrong, but they scamper off before you can get an answer. You wash the dishes in silence.
Nanako falls and scrapes her knee on a rock. The other workers are shocked still, terrified of what Geto will do now that one of his precious girls has been injured, but you don't fret. You take action, bringing the young girl inside, grabbing a first aid kit, tending to her small wound. You clean it, apply a bandage. She requests a kiss to make it better, so you comply, pressing your lips gently against the bandage. She seems satisfied, getting up and running off with her sister again, throwing back a "thank you" as she does. You're surprised at her gratitude, but you think little of it.
You become a beacon of sorts. The other workers saw how well you handled Nanako's wound, and now they come to you whenever they don't know how to handle the twins. The girls are fighting? You are retrieved to break it up. They want lunch? You're always the one who makes it. They're getting ready for bed? You are now the one who ensures they brush their teeth, tucking them into bed before Geto bids them goodnight. You don't think much of your new role, chalking it up to just being a new part of your job that you have to take care of.
It's not until they call you "Mom" that you look at your role differently.
Mimiko calls you "Mom" first, after she finishes her lunch and puts her plate in the sink.
"Mom, I want a cookie."
You pause, frozen, processing what she said.
"Um... what do you say when you want something?" The young girl rolls her eyes.
"May I please have a cookie?" You smile softly at her compliance.
"Yes, you may." You take down the cookie jar, pulling out two and handing them to Mimiko. "Take one to your sister."
"Okay!" And she's off, leaving you to think about your new label.
Later that night, when you're tucking the girls into bed...
"Goodnight, Mom," Mimiko mumbles from below her sheets. You pause at the door, hand on the handle.
"Night, Mom," Nanako speaks up, hiding her face with her comforter. You swallow, inhaling deep.
"Goodnight, girls. Sleep tight."
You hesitantly close the door, hearing it click softly. You sigh, turning around, running into someone.
It was Geto. He stared down at you silently, eyes boring into you. You quickly bowed, moving out of his way, gaze glued to the floor. He watches you for a moment before grabbing the door handle, pushing the door open. You hear the girls chirp with delight as the door closes. Once it clicks shut, you bolt out of there, not looking back.
You become a maternal figure for the girls, someone they look up to, someone they rely on. You take care of them daily, tending to their every whim, scolding them gently when needed. The girls begin to follow you, insisting that you play with them, that you give them time and attention. Other people start taking on your chores so that you can entertain the twins and keep the peace.
At the same time, Geto starts to notice you more.
He notices how the girls light up when they talk about you, how they ask for you at night to read another chapter in their book, how they cling to you whenever they have a free moment. He thinks it's silly for them to enjoy the presence of a non-sorcerer such as yourself. Of all the people to become attached to, why you? There were plenty of socerer women that wandered these halls, so why did they choose you? What was so special about you?
It bothers him for a bit, but ultimately he's just happy that his girls are happy. He even began to appreciate your presence, your maternal instincts allowing you to care for the twins better than anyone else could. He came to value having you around to give his girls the love and attention they lacked when they were so young.
But there were other perks to having you around. Geto found himself delighted whenever you smiled, silently hoping you could direct that smile towards him. He began speaking with you casually, enjoying the sound of your voice more and more with each conversation. And you were attractive, to say the least, bright and lovely. He savoured being able to see a pretty thing like you so often, your round cheeks, your glittering eyes, your delicate hands, your bountiful hips. His mind began to wander to your body during his little meetings, wondering how soft you were under that cheap, coarse uniform. He imagined how your thighs would squish as you sat or kneeled before him, gazing up at him, willing to take whatever he would give you.
That's when he started fantasizing about you in earnest. He started thinking about you late at night, about your plump frame and how it would feel under his fingers. He thought about your thighs warming the sides of his face, your ass bouncing as he thrust into your, your mouth forming a perfect 'O' as you came over and over again. He thought of all of this as his hand trailed down his body, wrapping around his cock and tugging it, groaning at the sensation. You'd be so much better than his hand, soft and warm and wet. He wanted to feel you, to brace you against him, make you all his. God, what he'd give for just a taste of you.
He does this for a while. He doesn't know how much longer he can go. Maybe he'll make you his personal maid, have you draw him a bath, make you massage his scalp as he soaks. Maybe he'll be forward and tell you exactly what he wants. Maybe he'll force you into his bed; people will do anything if they're threatened properly. Maybe he'll woo you with gifts, perhaps a few dresses, maybe even a kimono, something traditional to match him. He's not sure, there's so many options, he can't decide.
The girls want to go to an aquarium. They want you to come along.
Maybe he could court you properly.

Sweet Girl
Coriolanus trudges down the sidewalk on his way back from the Academy. His shoes are too tight and a small hole is wearing its way through the front of his right shoe. Although it’s the middle of June his black suit jacket remains over his white button-up shirt. It’s probably the nicest thing he owns and he wants nothing more than to take it off.
But Coriolanus Snow wants a lot of things.
He wants a hot bath for starters. He’s sick of the cold showers he’s forced to take. And don’t even get him started on cabbage for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
He wants the elevator in his apartment building to start working again so he doesn’t have to climb up twelve flights of stairs every night.
Coriolanus wants a lot of things. But dinner is a top priority right now.
There wasn’t any dinner provided at Heavensbee Hall much to his chagrin. He’d hoped there might be some punch or even a slice of pie. But nothing.
He’d been invited to a small open house for the University. Even though he still had a year left at the Academy it was never too early to start planning for his glorious future.
If only he could get there.
He began to formulate some sort of plan to win him the Plinth Prize. Professor Clay had barely mentioned it, only as a way to excite Academy students going into their last year which included him. Those words kept replaying in his head.
“A full ride for the University. Tuition paid in full.”
Many parents had been in attendance and he’d heard them mumbling to their children about how nice it would be if they won. How they’d be able to go on an extra vacation to the District resorts with that extra bit of money.
That extra bit of money would change the trajectory of Coriolanus Snow’s life and these people planned to use it for vacation funds.
If there was ever another war, he’d be the first to eat the rich.
These families didn’t know struggle. None of his classmates did. They all had parents for starters. He had none. They also had siblings. He had none. His father died first. Then his mother died trying to give birth to his sister. Two birds with one stone. His grandmother had died only last year leaving him the sole heir to the Snow fortune.
If only there was any fortune to inherit.
Coriolanus would never admit it, but he was almost relieved when his grandmother died. She had been a mouth to feed and was unable to work and provide. They’d been living in squalor and all she wanted to talk about was when they used to live in fortune.
He’d been hasty about getting to the bank once her funeral was over. He’d heard about children inheriting large sums of money once they were the last remaining members of their family.
With grandmother out of the way, any inheritance was his to keep.
His hands had been shaking as he unlocked the creaky metal box the clerk had brought him along with the key. The box had a faded white label on it that read:
‘Snow Family Inheritance’
He held his breath as he opened the box and tears pooled in his eyes when he found the box empty. Not even a coin was left to him.
He wallowed in his self-pity as he walked home, the heat was sweltering so it was a lovely distraction from his current financial predicament. He simply had to win the Plinth Prize. Even if it meant strangling Sejanus Plinth who seemed to despise the fact that he was filthy rich.
Again, eat the rich.
He was so caught up in his plan that he nearly ran into an older gentleman wearing a long black coat and a black hat.
“Oh excuse me. I should’ve watched where I was going,” he apologized, ducking his head when the man turned around.
Coriolanus was as tall as they came but this man was slightly taller than him. He gave the young boy a small smile, “No need to apologize. I’m just waiting on Miss Dovecote.” He gestured to the townhouse to their right where two girls stood on the doorstep illuminated by the front porch light.
Coriolanus had walked this street hundreds of times. It was a block away from the Corso and the townhouses were beautiful. This one in particular seemed to be a true beacon of Capitol wealth.
It was pristine and white with a perfectly manicured front lawn and shrubbery. The pathway leading up to the front door was clean of any litter and the steps looked like they were marble.
Coriolanus finally drew his attention to the two girls standing on the steps and recognized both of them. The raven-haired girl was Clemensia Dovecote, a friend of his from the Academy. She was hugging a blonde girl, and it was only when they pulled away that he was able to pin her down with confidence.
Soarynn Nightingale.
He didn’t really run in the same circles as her, but he knew she was very sweet and well-liked. It was a little funny to see that she was friends with Clemensia who could be quite snippy when she wanted to be.
The girls finally parted ways and Clemensia turned and made her way down the steps. Coriolanus quickly put two and two together and realized the man he’d bumped into was her driver.
How nice it must be to not walk everywhere.
Clemensia’s eyes locked onto his and her face visibly brightened, “Coryo! I haven’t seen you since May!”
Coriolanus gave her a polite smile and nodded, “It has been quite a while, Clemmie,” he agreed.
In all honestly he preferred summers over the school year. He could stay hidden in his penthouse for weeks without having to talk to anyone and pretend that the Snows were still as wealthy as ever.
Clemensia grinned up at him, “Well you should go in and say hi to everyone then,” she tilted her head towards the townhouse where Soarynn was still on her front steps, watching them it seemed.
Coriolanus swallowed nervously as he looked around the street, suddenly noticing all the cars parked along the curbs. “I…say hi to who Clemmie?” He asked nervously, more sweat forming on the back of his neck and this wasn’t from the heat.
Clemmie rolled her eyes and huffed, “Practically everyone from school is here Coryo. Soarynn’s throwing a little get-together. I only have to leave early because my little sister has a dance recital and my mother says I have to go.”
Coriolanus resisted the urge to tell her to be happy that at least she had a little sister. He’d never gotten to meet his.
He hummed and glanced over at Soarynn who was still lingering. Didn’t she have to get back to her guests?
“Well I actually have to get home but thank you for the invi—“
“Soarynn! Coryo’s going to stop by for a moment!” Clemensia called out, cutting him off before he could properly decline her invitation.
Coriolanus tightened his jaw but relaxed it and plastered on a fake smile, “Enjoy the recital, Clemmie.”
꧁ ꧂
He all but trudged up the walkway where Soarynn was patiently waiting for him. His eyes were focused on the ground and they slowly traveled up her tan legs. She was wearing heels and a blue dress that hugged her small frame perfectly. Her blonde hair was framing her face and her eyes.
Her eyes.
This might’ve been the first time Coriolanus had ever looked into the eyes of Soarynn Nightingale and heaven knew she had the most stunning eyes he’d ever seen.
Blue and gray went perfectly together for her eye color and they made the rest of her features pop.
Soarynn was already looking up at him even though he was a step down from her. Both literally and financially.
Her lips curled up into a sweet smile, “Hello Coryo, I don’t believe we’ve been properly introduced.”
She held out her hand and Coriolanus took it and gave it a soft squeeze before shaking it. He tried to hide his sweaty complexion and his stressed state but if he failed to do so, Soarynn didn’t let on.
“I do apologize for dropping in on you like this,” he said hastily, “I know you have guests to tend to and Clemmie can get pretty assertive sometimes and I think I might just go home if that’s alright with you…” his voice died as she gently squeezed his hand.
Mostly because she was still holding his hand. And it was so small compared to his. So soft.
“Coryo it’s alright,” she said with a light laugh, “we have more than enough refreshments and everyone will be so glad to see you. Besides you’re already dressed for the occasion,” she gestured to his outfit.
He worried she might be able to see right through him. The too-tight shoes and the white button-up shirt with stains on the sides and the black suit jacket that was beginning to tear at the seams.
He scratched the back of his neck, “I won’t be able to stay for long.”
Soarynn waved him off and tugged him into her home, a cool wave of air rolling over them. He let go of her hand as he slowly made his way into the entryway of her house, foyer was a better term for it. This townhouse was beautiful. Tall ceilings, chandeliers, and a tiled floor that shone under his shoes.
He felt terribly out of place.
Soft music could be heard along with laughter and conversation and Soarynn beckoned him to follow her further into the home.
The tiled floor turned into a hardwood floor and Coriolanus took in every little detail of the Nightingale’s house. Soarynn led them to the right of the foyer which led into what seemed to be the formal dining room. A large mahogany table sat inside it surrounded by chairs. Fine cutlery adorned the table and there was a cabinet to display even finer pieces.
They then walked through a small hallway, to the left was a set of stairs. They looked to be hardwood that was painted over work white paint. The paint was chipped and worn and carpet ran down the center of the stairs. This was clearly the route the servants took he decided. Not that he’d seen any servants, but he doubted they lacked anything where help
To the right was a door with a window where he could see hedges. The backyard most likely, or the side yard leading to the backyard.
They continued through a set of sliding doors with intricate glass panes and into the kitchen where several adults were conversing.
Coriolanus felt himself inwardly cringe when realizing he’d have to explain his presence to Soarynn’s father, a man he had never met or heard anything about.
All heads turned towards the two and the friendly conversation ceased. Coriolanus put on his most charming smile as he and Soarynn approached the adults. “Daddy, this is Coriolanus Snow, we go to school together,” Soarynn said to one of the men.
Coriolanus immediately held his hand out to Mr. Nightingale and nodded, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, sir.”
So many things could happen. The man could yell and demand he leave his property at once. He could laugh at his attempt to fit in with the Capitol’s most wealthy families. Or he could ignore him entirely.
The man did none of those things.
He placed his hand in his and gave it a firm shake. “Pleasure to meet you Coriolanus. I apologize for not greeting you at the door.”
Coriolanus was quick to shake his head, “I’m afraid I sort of dropped in sir. I ran into my good friend Clemensia Dovecote and…”
His voice trailed off when Mr. Nightingale held up his other hand, “No need to explain son. I know how headstrong Miss Dovecote can get. You were a smart man for going along with her plan.”
The other adults chuckled and Coriolanus glanced around the kitchen and was able to spot a few familiar faces. The Vickers and the Creeds were here which meant Lysistrata and Festus were here.
“Make yourself at home Coriolanus,” Mr. Nightingale said, before releasing his hand. Coriolanus managed a polite nod, “Thank you sir.”
He followed Soarynn out of the kitchen and to the left where he could clearly see the living room where people his age had gathered. “There’s food set up in the sitting room,” Soarynn said, pointing to the left of the living room where another set of glass doors were slid open.
Coriolanus nodded and looked down at her, “Thank you, I truly hope I’m not imposing.”
Soarynn shook her head, “You’re not. And look, Festus is already waving you over.” She disappeared from his side before he even had the chance to respond and left him no choice but to walk over to Festus who was, in fact, waving him over
He had mastered the casual stride. Walking as if he had all the time and money in the world. Ironic since he had neither.
“Festus,” he greeted as if he planned on coming to this party all along. The living room was large yet cozy at the same time if that was possible, allowing people to break off into private conversations.
Festus grinned, giving Coriolanus a slap on the back, “Coryo! It’s been so long. How have you been? Where have you been all dressed up like that?” Coriolanus gave him a casual shrug while looking down at his outfit as if realizing how well he was dressed.
How well he tried to dress.
One look at Festus’s outfit told Coriolanus that his friend had thrown on whatever he first saw in his closet, not caring a bit how he looked. As long as everything on his person costs the same as a month’s rent for Coriolanus, Festus would fit right in.
“I was invited to an open house for the University,” he said, glancing into the sitting room where tables of refreshments were on tables, just waiting for him. Festus let out a low whistle, “They must think of you as a top contender if you got invited already.”
Coriolanus felt a small grin spread across his lips. If Festus thought that then other people must too. It brought him some relief to know that no matter how horribly he was doing in private, he still looked like he was doing wonderfully in public.
“We’ll see where it goes,” he said, “we still have one more year left.”
Festus grunted before he looked over at the giant windows looking out into the backyard, “So you got invited here by Soarynn?”
Coriolanus let out a bitter laugh, also glancing over to the windows where Soarynn was talking to Livia Cardew and Arachne Crane. Two girls he did his best to avoid at all costs. “I was forced to come here. I ran into Clemmie,” he said, knowing he needed no further explanation.
Festus raised his eyebrows and nodded, he was well versed with how bossy Clemensia could get, “Then it appears you made the right choice. And this party isn’t half bad, you have to try the champagne.”
Well, if Festus insists.
Coriolanus walked into the sitting room, grabbing a plate as his eyes scanned the different foods. He couldn’t take too much, couldn’t look like he was starving even though he was. He’d seen the way his ribs poked out whenever he took too deep of a breath.
He started out with some bread. Bread was always good. Then he grabbed some small meats, slices of ham, finger foods really. He took some crackers too, for the ham of course. He also took some fruits, berries, orange slices, and grapes. There were lots of desserts. Pies, custards, cakes, tarts. He took a tart because goodness knows he was already overdoing it. Lastly he took a glass of champagne because if he was going to be forced to conversate, he needed to be properly buzzed.
He surveyed the living room while he was sipping his champagne. He saw many familiar faces, all people he’d grown up with. All people who kept giving their condolences it seemed. The last ones he had gotten were for his grandmother after she passed away.
Everyone came to the funeral. They were all too familiar with funerals after the war and everyone could be counted on having something black to wear.
His grandmother hadn’t left him much like other grandparents. Some grandparents left behind their entire fortunes or some jewelry they’d held onto.
All he got were roses.
He didn't linger in his bitterness for too long because Sejanus Plinth of all people was coming up to him with a glass of juice in his hand it seemed. How juvenile.
Coriolanus forced a polite smile, "Sejanus, how nice to see you." It really wasn't, he despised people like Sejanus Plinth. People who had everything in the world and still found a way to complain about it. Sejanus let out a sigh, further confirming his beliefs that the rich would be the first he'd go after, "Oh you know, just dragged along to another gathering," he gestured to the living room, "my Ma says it's good for me. But it helps that Soarynn's nice."
It certainly did. From what he had seen, Soarynn Nightingale was a sweet girl who tried her best to be kind to everyone. She was a rare bird. He'd have to avoid her though, ironic since he was standing in her house. Coriolanus wasn't trouble per se, but he certainly couldn't help her move up in the world. He had nothing to his name, no assets, no money, nothing but a penthouse falling apart.
She'd be better off without him.
꧁ ꧂
Coriolanus took to hiding on the staircase they had passed when Soarynn brought him to the kitchen. He would've much rather to sit on one of those comfortable-looking sofas but that would mean having to talk to people and he was exhausted both mentally and physically. He chewed on bread while listening to the chatter of the party. No one had come looking for him so he figured he might as well slip out the front door once he finished with his food. He'd be damned if he didn't eat his entire plate.
As he was chewing, he could hear a set of footsteps growing closer to the small hallway and he tensed, hoping it wasn't Mr. Nightingale who would then bear witness to the sad sight of Coriolanus eating whatever he could get his grubby hands on. Finally, he laid eyes on Soarynn Nightingale who gave him a look of concern, "Are you alright Coryo?" She asked, worrying flooding her voice. Coriolanus feigned a look of normality as he nodded, "Oh yes, just a bit overwhelmed is all," he waved her off, hoping she'd go back to her rich friends and leave him in his self-pitying thoughts.
Soarynn, much to his horror instead came closer, in fact, she sat on the step above him as if this was a perfectly normal occurrence. He couldn't stop himself from giving her a questioning look. Had someone put her up to this? It was Livia, he was sure of it.
Soarynn brushed her hair behind her ears, giving him a small smile, "You know, you don't have to lie to me, you can trust me." Coriolanus scoffed, what did she know about trust? "I don't mean to offend you, because you've been a lovely hostess but I promise that we have nothing in common," Coriolanus told her flatly. He didn't want to hurt her feelings but he needed to keep her at arm's length along with the rest of his classmates and really everyone in the Capitol for that matter.
Soarynn raised her eyebrows, giving him an almost defiant look that made him question his assumptions about her, "Tell me something about yourself," she said, "and if I can't find something in common with you then I'll have my driver take you home."
Now that was a bet worth taking.
Coriolanus felt a smirk tugging at his lips, finally, his horrible childhood was paying off because there was no way Soarynn would be able to relate to him in any way, shape, or form.
He knew it was cheap and quite dark but he needed something to guarantee that Soarynn wouldn't be able to relate to him. "Alright, when I was little my mother died during the war, it was childbirth, too much blood, I was going to be a big brother to a little sister."
The slightly amused look on Soarynn's face fell and he knew he had her. This girl clearly didn't know what it was like to grow up without a mother, although he had yet to meet Mrs. Nightingale. Soarynn swallowed, looking down at the stairs for a moment before giving him a sad smile, "Then I'm afraid you'll be walking home."
Coriolanus furrowed his eyebrows, what was she talking about?
Soarynn sighed and kicked off her heels, so casual in the midst of a somewhat formal setting, "My own mother died during childbirth, although not during the war, but from the same thing as yours, too much blood." Coriolanus felt his throat tightening up. he missed his mother dearly, all he had to remember her by was her silver compact with the rose-scented powder that he only brought out in moments of stress.
"What was she like?" He asked, his voice scratchy. Soarynn shrugged, "I don't know, I've never met her." Now he was terribly confused, "But how is that possible? If you never met your mother and she died during childbirth then that means..." His voice died off as he put the pieces together. The oh-so tragic pieces.
"I killed her," she whispered, pulling her knees up, "not many people know that so I'd appreciate it if you kept it to yourself."
Coriolanus nodded, knowing how much of a burden it must be on the girl next to him, "Your secret's safe with me."
Soarynn cleared her throat, "Well what do you remember about your mother?" It was hard to think of someone he hadn't seen or spoken to in so long, he really only had distant memories. "She could sing," he said, "she'd sing me a lullaby, something about roses and birds."
Soarynn perked up, "Oh! My dad used to sing me a song like that when I was little. Roses are red, songbirds are blue, heavens know I love you." He found it nearly impossible not to fall in love with her at that very moment.
"You have a pretty voice," he mumbled, feeling his cheeks tinge with redness. Coriolanus couldn't sing to save his life, most of his classmates couldn't but it seemed that the one capable person sitting next to him didn't feel like sharing her talent with the world. Soarynn shrugged, "I get kind of nervous, I don't do too well in crowds. I can play the piano just fine though."
Coriolanus felt himself slightly sulk at the fact that she was rich enough to know how to play the piano, to own a piano. His stomach grumbled and he looked down at his half-eaten plate and he caught Soarynn looking too, "Sorry if the food isn't very filling," she said, "we decided on mostly finger foods but maybe we should've gotten more."
Coriolanus shook his head, "Don't apologize Soarynn I...I wasn't even invited and yet you brought me in. You've been very sweet and here I am talking about my dead mother and making you talk about yours when I should be focused on winning the Plinth Prize."
Soarynn tilted her head, "The Plinth Prize?"
Had he said Plinth Prize? Well, the cat was out of the bag now so to speak. "Yes, it'll be awarded to one student at the end of the upcoming school year and I'm going to win it." Soarynn raised her eyebrows, looking very impressed, "What'll you do with the money if you win?"
Coriolanus let out a hollow laugh, trying to imagine coming into that sort of money, being able to give away that sort of money "I'll fix everything," he said, "fix my penthouse, my wardrobe, fill my fridge up, hire some staff. Hell, I might even run for President." A frown tugged at her lips as she shifted closer to him, "Your fridge is empty?" Coriolanus felt his complexion slightly pale, he shouldn't have let that slip.
All his hard work just went down the drain because of a pretty girl.
He might as well go out with a bang, "Yes I'm actually quite broke," he admitted, figuring there was no use in hiding it, "this suit is practically falling apart, along with the rest of my life but I'll win the money and everything will change."
He studied Soarynn's face for any sort of reaction. She could laugh at him, or go and tell everyone that Coriolanus Snow didn't have a cent to his name. But instead, she reached down and took his hands in hers, they were so soft and warm, and small, "Oh, Coryo why didn't you tell someone?"
Coriolanus shuddered at the thought of asking for help. He'd rather drown. "Snow lands on top," he said, "and Snow doesn't ask for help." Soarynn sighed, squeezing his hands gently, "Boys and their egos," she muttered. Coriolanus couldn't help but laugh at her comment, he didn't know she was capable of being sassy but Soarynn Nightingale was just full of surprises.
Soarynn smirked, "Don't tell me you haven't thought about telling someone, I know I wouldn't be able to hold it in if we suddenly had no money." Coriolanus sighed, he barely remembered what it was like to have money, but he sure knew how to pretend like he did. "I have," he agreed, worrying if he was holding her hands too tightly or too loosely, girls were difficult to understand at this age.
"Were you planning on keeping it a secret for the rest of your life?" Soarynn's question causes a frown to tug on his lips. Coriolanus planned on living for a very long time so being broke when you were old sounded like a horrible nightmare to him. He remembered how weak his grandmother got in her final weeks, how he gave her every bit of food he could scrounge up. Being young had its advantages, and the Academy often provided food at events so he could always count on that. But no, being a grown-up would come with its own challenges, broke or rich.
"Well I don't plan on being poor for the rest of my life, so to answer your question, no, but I certainly won't tell people about my past once I'm bathing in my riches," he decided then and there. Soarynn's thumb brushed over his knuckles and Coriolanus felt his breath hitch in his throat, "What if you don't win?"
What a horrible question to ask someone.
But Coriolanus had thought about that on his way home tonight, about the possibility of him going home a sore loser, second place most likely to someone who was already rich and would be spending the Plinth Prize on their vacation. "Failure isn't an option," he said, his voice steady as his blue eyes stared into her blue-gray ones. They were so enchanting, he'd be happy to drown in them for the rest of his life.
Soarynn nodded, biting her lip for a moment before speaking up, "I believe in you Coryo, and I'll do whatever it takes to help you win."
Well, he certainly hadn't expected that. He thought she might give him a pat on the back, wish him luck, and send him home with some leftovers. Not to pledge herself to help him no matter what the cost.
Coriolanus swallowed, his hands suddenly feeling so sweaty, "You...you really don't have to do that Soarynn, you've already been so sweet." And she had been, she listened to him, and goodness did it feel good to get all of that off his chest.
Soarynn shook her head and pulled him towards her until they were inches apart, the same height even though she sat on one step above him, "You're a good person Coryo," she said softly, "and it's not your fault that your family fell on some hard times. You deserve to win, to be happy, and not have to worry about your next meal."
Coriolanus couldn't believe that a person like Soarynn Nightingale existed. So kind and selfless, so generous and sweet. This was the type of girl you wanted to spend the rest of your life with. Which is why he was suddenly leaning in and she was too and then he was kissing her. He was kissing Soarynn Nightingale and she was kissing him back.
It lasted maybe ten seconds but she tasted so sweet, smelled so sweet, was so sweet. And the smile she gave him after was sweeter than anything he'd ever tasted. "You should ask me out on a date," she whispered, her lips inches away from his lips.
Coriolanus licked his lips, his mind still clouded from that kiss, "Okay," he whispered back. He'd do anything she asked him to do. Maybe this was good, something new, something kind. He could see it now, their dates, the stolen glances, the dinners he would have here with her dad. They'd make a good couple, they'd graduate together, he'd win the Plinth Prize with her by his side.
His sweet girl.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Summers made working from home the most difficult. Wanda could hardly concentrate on her work before one of her boys started complaining about being hungry or getting bored or asking to go to a friend's house, etc. She sometimes wishes that she could have sent them to a camp but Vision was against it because he wanted them at his house during his weeks since he had the time off as well. She knows that she would have missed them terribly as well which is why she was okay with dropping the subject then. But now that she was dangerously close to her deadline without even being close to a finished product, she thought she might go insane on her boys.
That's when she calls her mom in for back up. Then instantly regrets it as soon as she sees the hole in the house. “Honey! What happened here?”
“My marriage fell apart,” Wanda says simply as she rushes to her office. “Pietro is going to fix it, don't worry!” She shouts from the stairs so she can get to work before her mom can catch her in a lecture. The woman shakes her head and makes her way to the kitchen to start lunch for the boys and her daughter. She comes over consistently for the rest of the week to help with house chores, breakfast and lunch, and entertain her grandsons.
Wanda is grateful for her mother's assistance and is able to get a decent design for pitch at the end of the month and start a few backup ideas. She likes to over prepare. She was even able to complete a budget report and the booklets for the investors by the start of the weekend. Wanda feels bad that she had to prioritize work over her kids but her mother reminds her that she was doing this work for them. That she needs to provide for them. Besides, Wanda was still cooking dinners with Tommy and Billy as well as watching movies every night before bed. Though, it was getting a little tense between the two boys with different interests.
On Saturday morning, Pietro arrives with his sleepy daughter and Wanda tries to hold in her laughter as she helps the little girl to her bedroom so she can rest. “You’re here early,” Wanda says as she returns downstairs.
“Mom called me last night. Told me that I should have started the minute I found out. Thank you for that by the way,” Pietro says as he drops some material on the ground. He had pushed some furniture around while she was helping his daughter. “Unfortunately for Luna, she still wanted to come with me. I told her last night we’d be here at six am sharp. She said she was fine with it until I actually had to wake her up. But,” he shakes his head in amusement, “she still wanted to come here.”
Wanda crosses her arms and leans against the wall. “She loves her cousins,” she yawns.
“That she does,” Pietro stares at his tools. “Can I tell you something that you can't tell anyone?” Wanda confirms that her brother can confide in her. “Crystalia and I are considering trying for another. She could use a sibling, you know?”
“Oh, Pietro, that's wonderful news!” Wanda congratulates her brother.
“Thank you, but please, don't tell mom. She'll call about positions and give other advice that I do not need to hear again,” he says recalling the conversation he overheard his mom and sister having a few years ago. Wanda cringes at the memory herself.
“I’ll spare you, don't worry,” she says. “I’m going to start some coffee, do you want any?”
“Yes please,” he rolls out the plans Wanda had sent to him.
You are knocking on Jean's door as you check the time again to make sure that you aren't running late. Your friend asked you to be at the location by noon and he sent you the address this morning. From what you saw from the images online, the place looked nice enough. You wondered why it needed altering at all but remember that he said there was an accident that led to this alteration.
The door opens and it's Anna, Jean's wife. “She’s almost ready, you're welcome to wait in the living room,” she says kindly.
“Thank you,” you step inside. It never gets easier walking into this house even though it's been years since you've lived here. It was a gift from both your family and Jean's when the two of you got married. Because the two of you were so young, neither of you cared about a wedding. In fact, the two of you were engaged for less than a week when you drove off to a cheap chapel and eloped. Both of your families were upset because they wanted to be part of the wedding process but were still happy the two of you decided to tie the knot. And since there was some money being saved for future weddings and college funds, that at the time weren't going to be used, they pooled together that money and surprised you and Jean with this house.
It was a fixer upper for sure and you worked on it every weekend until you were twenty-two. When you and Jean got divorced. You paid for every repair and upgrade with the tips you got bartending and any extra scraps from the job sites that your foreman approved for you to take. You still did repairs for the house here and there whenever they needed it and couldn't afford to hire someone. But, it was no longer your house and with how much time and money you put into the place, it was the hardest part of the marriage to let go of.
You bounce your leg anxiously as you wait for your daughter to come out of her room. “Can I get you anything?” Anna asks before she enters the kitchen. “You seem a little anxious.”
“No, thank you,” you politely decline. “I’m doing a favor for my boss and I just want to do a good job and make a good impression,” you admit. “Plus, his sister is apparently some great architect and she could be a great connection but you know how I get around new people.”
Anna nods, ignoring your words and listening to your body instead. “I’m making you some tea. It can help soothe your nerves so that you're not this loud jumbled energy. Your whole aura is a mess and it won't help you make a good impression.” She disappears in the kitchen before you can decline the beverage again.
“Hey, babe! Who was at the- oh! It was you,” Jean says as she enters the living room space. “She’s almost ready,” she remarks about your daughter. “She’s a little nervous about all of the new friends she's going to make. I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about it but these kids are going to be nice to her right?”
“Yeah, yeah, well,” you pause. “I hope so. But they're not all new to her. She's met Luna a few times and they get along great.  He said her cousins are sweet boys, closer to Rachel’s age. Besides, they'll have parental supervision and I'll be nearby the whole time.” You assure the mother of your child.
“Okay,” she takes a relaxing breath as she joins you on the sofa. “That makes me feel better. Where's Anna?”
“Making me a tea,” you say and lean in close. “Apparently my aura is a mess,” you say in a manner that lets Jean know that you find her wife's assessment of you ridiculous. Jean laughs at your silliness.
“You’re a jerk, she's only trying to help,” Jean defends.
You lean back with your hands up in surrender, “I never said I wasn't grateful. I am going to chug that tea, I promise. Scouts honor.”
Jean rolls her eyes, “You were never a scout.”
“That’s because I was corrupted by your bad influence,” you retort playfully.
“Oh whatever, if I remember correctly, you were the one pulling all of the crazy stunts. I never did anything. I was an innocent bystander,” Jean points out.
You laugh at the flood of childhood memories that you and Jean share. She wasn't wrong, you were constantly getting into trouble as kids. Only because you were trying to impress her and maintain her attention. No matter what the cost was. It was amazing that the two of you were still alive today. “Okay, that's fair,” you say as Anna returns with a thermos for you. “Oh cool, thank you. I'll bring this back to y'all next weekend.”
“No problem,” she sits next to Jean and throws her arm around the woman. Jean falls comfortably against her wife and the two share a sweet smile with each other. You look away from them as you feel longing for a relationship again. Not with Jean, of course. The two of you didn't have what she had found with Anna. But you want that with someone. To have the close connection these two have. It was difficult dating as a single parent at twenty-seven. Not everyone was understanding that Jean and you are better off friends and maintain a healthy relationship. Many situationships fail because your best stories involve your best friend, who happens to be your ex-wife. Another relationship killer is surprisingly that your daughter is always going to be your number one priority. Always.
Luckily, your daughter comes into the room and hops on your lap as she happily greets you. Clearing your mind of any thought of loneliness. “Hey, pumpkin! Are you ready to go?”
“Hmm,” she looks at you nervously and then to her mom's. They are worried about her as much as you are. She doesn’t have many friends due to her social awkwardness. You jokingly claim she inherited it from her mother but you both know it was from you. “Is Luna really there?” she asks. You shift around to grab your phone and pull up your conversation with Pietro and find the picture he sent of Luna with her cousins and show it to her. “Oh! I know those boys! They go to my school,” she says excitedly which lets you know that is a good thing. “They were in my class last year!” She hops off of you and straightens her outfit out,“Okay, I'm ready.” Jean, Anna, and you laugh as her tone has changed so fast.
“Alright, I’ll see the two of you next Saturday,” you say as you get up and follow your daughter. The two of you jam out to whatever pop artist that has her interest at the moment. You couldn’t keep up with her and the stuff she likes. Songs were simple enough to catch on with the lyrics and it amuses her when you get them very very wrong.
When you arrive at the house, you see that Pietro has made a lot of progress on his own and torn up most of the wall from the outside. As you park, you receive a text from Wanda asking if the two of you were still on to buy her a drink later on. Another one saying that she is looking forward to it. You regretfully message that a work thing came up and that you will have to let her know. Then, you knock on the door and are surprised to see Wanda is the one answering.
She looks at you as confused as you are. Her expression quickly drops to one that she hopes is threatening. “What are you doing here? How do you know where I live?” Wanda starts out defensively. Whispering in a sharp tone so she doesn't alarm her kids or her brother. You gulp as you try to find the right words to explain that you're not some crazy stalker.
But Rachel speaks before you can get a word out. “Can I go play with Luna?” She asks Wanda sweetly.
This throws the woman off as she looks down and notices your daughter. She freezes as she connects the dots. “Um, of course, sweetheart. Go on in, she's upstairs with her cousins.” The little girl runs inside and disappears up the stairs. “You’re the person my brother asked to help with the hole?” Wanda asks, still not letting you inside.
“I really had no idea the two of you were related.” You say as you hold up your tool box. “But, uh, yeah. You're the work thing that might prevent me from buying you a drink later,” you try to lighten the mood.
Wanda isn't sure if she wanted you in her house. You know nothing about her and she liked it that way. She knew that eventually she would have to open up to you if the two of you kept up with the meetings. But not like this. Not with you repairing the damage she did to her home. But when Pietro comes to the door she has no choice but to let you in. “Hey, Y/n, I'm glad you could make it. This is my little sister, Wanda,” he introduces. You stand there watching Wanda. Waiting to see if she wanted the two of you to be strangers. Or if you were allowed to reveal your acquaintance. But she remains quiet. Taking her cue, you offer your hand in greeting. “Wands, this is the person I told you about. They do fantastic work. If dad were still alive, he'd have us competing to take over the company,” he boasts.
You laugh, “You speak too highly of me, P. It's great to meet you, Wanda.”
“Thank you for coming to help my incompetent twin brother,” she emphasizes to let you know that she isn't younger than her brother as he claimed. “I truly appreciate it.”
“Ouch,” Pietro holds his chest, “I’m doing a nice thing for you and this is how you treat me?” He shakes his head. “Come on in,” he waves you into the house. You follow him in and Wanda walks away, announcing that she's starting lunch. You keep your eyes in her direction a little longer than you should have and Pietro notices. He snaps his fingers in your face and you look at him. “Don’t think about it,” he says sternly.
You hold a hand up in surrender, “I wasn't. She just,” you can’t continue because he doesn’t believe you. “Nevermind, are you ready to get to work?” You ask as you set your toolbox down and remove your jacket.
Wanda checks on you and her brother every few minutes. Seeing the two of you sharing a laugh while you work. The ease at which you remove pieces of the house. She didn’t like that she couldn’t keep her eyes off of you, but deduced it to her not trusting the stranger in her house. An hour later, she’s offering everyone lunch. The kids come running down and Pietro tries to get you to take a break. But you aren’t certain you’re allowed to.
“Are you hungry?” She asks as she steps over the line of tape Pietro made for the kids.
“I’ll be fine,” you assure as you pull off another piece of the wall from the inside. “Hey,” you stop her from walking away. “Are you going to block my number?” you set the piece on the pile.
“Why would I do that?” She asks with her arms crossing over her chest.
“I’m not sure if accidentally finding out,” you make a noise as you pull another piece out, “where you live is considered a creepy offense.” You grin at her as you look at her over your shoulder.
Wanda smiles a little, “No, I'm not going to block you. Only as a thank you though,” she steps around and looks back when she hears the kids laughing to see Pietro being silly. She turns back to you, “For the free labor, of course.”
“Oh, I see how it is,” you grab the water bottle you had nearby. “Maybe you're the one who tracked me down,” you jokingly accuse. “Heard your brother rave about my work so you found me at a liquor store and charmed me so that I wouldn't charge you.”
Wanda rolls her eyes, “Don’t flatter yourself.” Then she scoffs as she remembers the two of you meeting. She certainly wasn't dressed to charm anyone.
The two of you stand there for a moment, neither certain if that's the end of the conversation. She wants to walk away to go eat but she wants to be certain that you're fine with going on without a meal. You are trying to decide whether or not it's too late to accept her offer and aren't sure if she's going to ask again or leave you to continue working. When she doesn't move you pull your gloves off as you step closer. “What’s for lunch?”
“Food that I made,” she says vaguely but still playful.
“Am I still allowed to find out?” You shove the gloves in your back pocket.
“I suppose I can't let you starve,” she replies. “But you didn't seem like you wanted any before.”
You shrug, “I didn't want to appear rude.”
Wanda nods once and drops her arms, “Some people might say it’s rude to decline a meal.”
“I wasn’t raised that way,” you say, “But I do know people that have, so that’s a fair point.”
She smiles at the floor as you stand a few inches from her now. “You are welcome to take a break and eat. Consider it another part of my payment.” She looks back up at you then quickly turns away. You follow her to the table where everyone else is eating. You pass them to wash your hands in the kitchen sink. There is more laughter and you turn to see your daughter, who you think is hilarious but is normally very shy around people she isn’t comfortable with, causing the laughter. Wanda notices a bit of food on Rachel’s chin and she instinctively wipes it with a napkin. You dry your hands and join the table.
You sit in the empty seat next to your daughter and serve yourself a plate. You get to know Tommy and Billy as the group of you enjoy the lunch together and you feel better about letting Rachel hang out with them. Pietro was being truthful when he said that they are sweet boys. Once the kids finish up, they are racing up the stairs to resume their activities, leaving the adults to the table. “Thank you guys for helping me out. I truly appreciate it,” Wanda says as she sips her drink from her cup.
“Thank us when the work is done, alright?” Pietro says as finishes his plate. You agree as you finish your food as well.
“We should get back to it. Thank you, the meal was delicious,” excuse yourself from the table, grabbing as many plates as you can carry to the sink. Wanda tries to intercept but ultimately grabs what you can’t carry and follows you to the sink.
“You really didn’t have to, I could’ve taken care of it,” she says as she moves the plates. “But thank you, again.”
You smile at her, “It’s really no big deal, Wanda.” You walk away to continue to work with her brother.
As it gets close to dinner time, Pietro receives a call from his wife and he has to call it a day. He quickly packs his things, pulls Luna away from a serious Mario Kart competition, and bids everyone a goodnight. “I’ll see you guys in the morning before you’re off to your dad’s,” he says as he hugs his nephews goodbye. “Thank you for helping me with this,” he says to you. The two of you slap your hands together and pull into a short hug.
“No problem, man. You know I’m always willing to help,” you reply. “Besides, I owe you.”
Pietro nods once in acknowledgement and then moves on to his sister. “Do I need to rent a wood chipper? For tomorrow? Send the bastard a good message.”
Wanda laughs, “No, he’ll just sue you for property damages. You don’t need to be dealing with that on top of everything else. He’s not worth it.”
“But you are,” he says and hugs her. “Give your aunt and cousins hugs,” he tells his daughter. She does as he says sadly because she doesn’t want to go yet. Pietro promises the crying girl that they’ll be back the next morning but she is still reluctant to go. Unfortunately, he has to carry the girl crying all the way to his truck. The boys run off with Rachel to try and finish the match before it’s time for her to go too.
You laugh as you watch them disappear. “I guess that’s my cue as well,” you say as you start to pack up your things. There’s an awkwardness to your movements as you aren’t sure if the previous plans for the two of you were still on or not. But you aren’t sure how to ask. “I’ll uh, see you tomorrow?”
Wanda nods slowly as she watches you. “I wanted to keep our plans but, I’m sure you’re exhausted and well, keeping those kids entertained was pretty draining.”
“Oh, yeah, no,” you wave your hands around as you play off the disappointment. “I get it. Another time then?” You toss your jacket over your shoulder.
“Yeah,” Wanda nods, “I don’t have Tommy and Billy this week. Maybe we can figure out a time to meet up. And it doesn't have to be at the store.”
“Um,” you look to the floor then look back up, “Rach and I have a camping trip planned this week. We're leaving Monday morning. We'll be back on Friday, though. So maybe Friday night?” Wanda begins to worry about what the meet up might be interpreted as. She isn't sure why now she was having this anxiety. She said that she was looking forward to the store. She suggested that they meet somewhere else. Almost as if you can read her mind, you include. “It’d be nice to have a friend that isn't my ex-wife or my boss.”
“Aren’t I technically your boss until this is done?” Wanda asks with a playful tone.
“You’re not paying me,” you retort.
“I am, in food,” she reminds you.
You click your teeth, “You’ve got me there.” You walk to the bottom of the stairs and call out for your daughter to let her know it's time to go. “So, Friday?”
“Will you be offended if I bring someone?” Wanda asks as she thinks about how she can solidify that it's just friends hanging out. Nothing more.
You laugh, “No, I won't be offended. The more, the merrier.” Rachel comes running down the stairs. “Ready, pumpkin?” You ask as she stops beside you.
“Yeah, I almost beat Tommy, but he got me,” she frowns. “I will get him tomorrow though. I'm going to kick his butt!” she says with determination. Then she looks at Wanda and freezes, not noticing her there before.
Wanda smiles at the young girl and leans forward, “Can you keep a secret?” Rachel nods, her eyes still wide. “I hope you win,” she straightens up and follows you and Rachel to the front door. “I'll see you tomorrow,” she says to you as she leans against the front door.
“I will see you tomorrow, Wanda,” you bid her a goodnight and climb into your car.
“I think Tommy and Billy will be great brothers,” Rachel says as she gets her playlist ready.
“What are you going on about over there?” You say with a laugh.
Rachel shrugs as she finds a love song, “It's okay, you’ll catch up eventually.” You laugh at her randomness.
Wanda calls the boys down so they can start dinner and she smiles every time she thinks of your name.
wc: 600+
warnings: none
notes: kinda hurt/comfort but not rly super angsty. also so so sorry for not continuing with jegulus microfics, i was super super busy, but ill probably start them up again soon:))
Regulus wakes up early in the morning, usually he sees James sleeping right beside him, but not today. In fact, James' whole side of the bed has gone completely cold.
Regulus furrows his eyebrows, and stands up. Maybe James has just gone on a run or something, that's normal.
Regulus makes breakfast and lunch for James, pushing it into the fridge with a little note that reads, “gone to work, i love you so much. also we're visiting your mum on sunday. hope you have a good day:) -reg”.
Regulus gets dressed as usual, kissing their dogs head on the way out the door. James had insisted on getting a puppy on their one year, he called her a symbolism of their love. She's a good sized golden retriever, named Sunny. Her fur is completely blonde with tiny little platinum streaks, she's always perfectly groomed, as Regulus cant stand the hair.
Regulus drives to work as normal, his black convertible making a purr sound.
Work is long and boring, and Regulus can't wait to go home. When he finally does get home, James' car is back in the lot, parked pristinely.
Regulus unbuckles and walks into the house, Sunny greeting him at the door. She jumps up, asking for head pats. "Hello, silly girl, how was your day?" He scratches behind her ears, "C'mon, hop on down, sweetheart, I don't want your fur all over my black suit. Where's daddy, hm?" Sunny runs alongside Regulus as he tracks into the house, the television is turned on quietly, but James isn't watching it.
Regulus ignores it, sometimes Sunny steps on the remote and accidentally turns it on. Regulus walks up the stairs, undoing his tie. "Jamie? I'm home, love." He runs his fingers through his hair, opening the door to their bedroom. And then there's James. Curled up in a ball on Regulus' side of the bed. "Love?" Regulus sits beside him, placing a hand on James' side.
James sniffles, then lets out a short sob, and now, Regulus is really concerned.
"Jamie, love, sit up. Talk to me, babe." Sunny jumps up on the bed and lays down next to Regulus. James turns to face Regulus, his nose is pink and tears streak his brown skin. "What's wrong?" Regulus rubs the outside of James' thigh, trying to provide some comfort.
"I'm sorry, Reg, you shouldn't have to come home to this," James covers his face with his hands, wiping away at his tears.
"Baby, it's not just my home, it's yours just as equally, cry all you need. Now, what's wrong."
"No, this is bullshit, Reg. You do everything around here. You work from 5 - 17, every single day, you cook, you clean and I do nothing. And here I am, laying in bed, crying and you just barely got home. I should be making dinner right now or something." James moves to get up, but Regulus places a firm hand on his leg, telling him not to.
"James, tell me what's wrong." He says, a little more strictly this time.
"I got rejected." He says, simply. "No one wants me," James laughs through his tears, "I've practiced only my whole life, I have the build, I have everything. They won't accept me." James has been signing up for quidditch teams for the past year, each one, he makes it to the final moments, but each time he's rejected. Regulus frowns and engulfs James in a tight hug.
"Baby, it's okay. They're fools for not wanting you." Regulus kisses the side of James' head softly.
Two months later him and Sunny are sitting on the family benches, watching James sore through the sky, they can barely see him passing the quaffle.
Bradley Bradshaw & number two! 🩷
G.U.Y. | Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw
Summary: Bradley teaches you a lesson after his class reunion.
Content warnings: SMUT (18+), rough sex, unprotected p in v, spanking (once), spitting, ass play, squirting, creampie, cum eating, overstimulation (I blacked out while writing this lmao it's filthy)
Prompt: "Will you stop talking or do I have to make you shut up?"
This was written for my Summer of Smut writing event. Feel free to send in requests!
Bradley never went to his class reunions. Sure, he had been invited. He wasn’t popular, but he knew everyone and everyone knew him. He tried to put his past behind him after graduation, especially after joining the Navy. He didn’t hate going to school by any means, but Carole was sick for most of the time that he was in high school, so he had to skip out on most of the extracurricular activities.
He tried to hide the invitation for the twenty-year reunion under a stack of mail, but you found it when you were looking for the water bill.
“What’s this?” You asked as you handed it to him. He was watching an old baseball game in the living room.
“An invitation for a class reunion. I’m not going. I never go to those things, anyway.”
“I think you should go. It’ll be close to Christmas and we could visit your parents at the cemetery.”
Bradley put the piece of cardstock down and stood up to put his hands on your hips.
“You would go to Virginia with me? In the dead of winter?”
“Yeah… I mean, it’s where you’re from. You’ve been to Arizona with me tons of times. Maybe you’ll have more fun if I’m there.”
You ended up being right, for the most part. Phoenix was willing to keep an eye on the home that you and Bradley shared while you were out of town. You planned the trip so that you’d be back in Fightertown just before Christmas, so you’d be able to spend the holidays with the Dagger Squad. You landed in Virginia around dinner time the night before the reunion and dropped your bags off at the hotel before going out to eat. He wanted to go to an Italian place that was Carol’s favorite, and you were excited as the host seated you and handed you the menus.
“What was your mom’s favorite wine?” You asked as you looked at their selection of wines.
“I don’t know… Mom didn’t really drink that much, but she always ordered the primitivo when we went here.”
“Okay, I’ll order it, then. And we’re here for a few days so I might order a bottle if I like it.”
“You really don’t have to, but I can buy the bottle if you like it.”
Bradley ended up buying you the bottle of wine. You were both exhausted when you got back to the hotel, so you put the bottle in the fridge and started getting ready for bed. Everything about the night was normal, with you easily falling into your routines even though you weren’t at home. Bradley ordered breakfast to the room after you woke up and you both started getting ready.
“One of my buddies texted me last night, said his wife thought she saw me at that restaurant. D’you wanna get lunch with them?” He asked. You thought about it for a moment before finishing applying your lip gloss.
“I mean, I don’t see why not. You’re not in town very often.”
“I’ll let him know.”
The lunch went well, and it was nearing time to head out for the reunion. It was going to be hosted in the gymnasium of the high school with dinner and dessert provided. Soft music played when you walked in with Bradley, you in a simple green dress, and Bradley in a white Henley and jeans. His dog tags were on the outside of his shirt this time, because he really hadn’t seen most of his classmates since graduation.
“Great,” he grumbled as the two of you were finally able to sit down.
“What is it?” You asked.
He picked up the place card that was across from you and did a double take of it. Of course his ex was going to be there, she was one of the “popular” girls. And of course someone put them at the same table. As he explained the situation, you gently took the place card out of his hands and walked over to a nearby table. You were going to swap out the place cards, but he stopped you before you could get the chance.
“Maybe there was a reason for it? I don’t think she’ll try anything, anyways.”
“Okay.”
Bradley talked to a few people who approached the two of you for a few minutes before you got up to go to the bathroom. When you came back, Bradley’s ex-girlfriend, Cassandra, was sitting in her seat across from Bradley and it looked like she was trying to flirt with him. He was being quieter than usual until you got to the table and put your arm around his shoulders and said hi to Cassandra.
“Oh! Are you his new girlfriend?” She excitedly asked.
“Well, we’ve been together for almost three years. He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
“Bradley, I thought you were single!”
“I’m not, so…” Bradley shrugged his shoulders and announced that he was getting up to get a drink. You asked him to get you water and something to snack on while he was over there, and he said yes.
When he left, you were having small talk with Cassandra. She asked you where you were from, what you did for work, other things like that. When he came back, you looked like you were getting angry and you sounded like it, too.
“That’s interesting. Bradley never wanted to get married or have kids when he was with me. I always thought that it was because of what losing both of his parents did to him.”
“Or maybe it was just you that he didn’t want to marry or have kids with… Just a thought.”
You didn’t even realize that Bradley had come back until he put your water and snacks in front of you. He put his hand on your shoulder as he sat down with his beer.
“Hey, I think maybe you should calm down a little bit,” he said. You glanced at him and took a sip of your water before looking back over at Cassandra.
“I mean, look at you. You were the popular girl with mom and dad’s money to let you do whatever you wanted. I’ll tell you right now, I wouldn’t be with Bradley if he didn’t want to have kids. He’s a nice guy, too, so I think it’s just you. From what I’ve heard, you were quite the mean girl. It’s no wonder that you’re still single.”
“Alright, you’re taking this a little too far. Cassandra, I’m sorry for what was just said. I think we’re gonna head out. I’ll see you around,” Bradley said. He grabbed your bag and helped you stand before you walked out of the building.
The drive back to the hotel was silent except for the radio softly playing. Bradley unlocked the room for you before closing the door and locking it.
“Take off your dress and get on the bed,” he said as he kicked his shoes off.
“I hope you know that I’m not sorry for what I said to that bitch earlier.”
Bradley sighed and walked over to you. He rolled you over so that you were on all fours and you could feel his hardened cock press up against you.
“Will you stop talking or do I have to make you shut up?” He asked as he moved your panties to the side.
He rubbed your pussy and you let out a small scream as he slammed his cock inside of you. With his arms around your waist, he moved in and out of you at a grueling pace. He pulled out almost all the way and smacked your ass before slamming into you, eliciting a moan from you.
“Oh, you liked that, didn’t you?” He rasped into your ear. You could only moan in response as he continued to pound into you. You groaned as you felt a warm droplet of spit and let out a sharp cry as Bradley used that as lubricant to slowly insert his thumb in your ass.
“You want me to stop?” He asked.
“Bradley, fuck - don’t stop! Feels s’good,” you said.
His thrusts got impossibly faster and he used his other hand to rub your clit as he brought you closer to the edge. You came right as you felt Bradley’s cock twitch inside of you, gushing all over him and the bed. With his cum leaking out of you, Bradley rolled you over and put a pillow under your back before starting to go down on you. You let out a cry from the burn of his mustache on your sore clit and he moved up to lay his head on your chest. He glanced over at the clock on the bedside table and looked up at you before kissing you.
“Let’s get cleaned up and then we can go and get something to eat,” he said as he carried you to the bathroom. Before the two of you left to get tacos, Bradley called room service to get a clean set of sheets.
“You should do that more often. I like it rough,” you said as you and Bradley got to the lobby of the hotel.
“You gotta stop doing that. We’re in public.”
Pushing Towards You
Chapter 5: Reconciliation
"Is that so bad?" Gaia woke up when Ártemis entered the room like a hurricane. "Ártemis sees her mothers together. Is that a bad thing?"
"The point is this shouldn't have  happened!" Calista said, pointing from her to Gaia.
"Why? We were married!" Gaia got up. She was on the edge of a burst.
"Exactly, Gaia! We were married. We're not together anymore. Last night, we were drunk and feeling nostalgic. That's all." Calista said, exasperated.
"Ohh... So it was the wine. Did we sleep together because of the wine?" Gaia was hurt. Calista could tell.
"Gaia, please... Don't complicate things." Calista pleaded.
"I won't. Don't worry. I'll take my shower, and I'll leave for Nevermore. You don't need to bother yourself by taking me there." Gaia got out, slamming the door.
"Great, Calista. Well done! Get drunk and sleep with your ex-wife. You look like a teenager." Calista muttered to herself.
Calista headed to the bathroom and took a hot and relaxing shower. She would have to face her daughter sooner or later, but doing it after good self-care was better. She took her time to put herself together, but she couldn't waste more time. Ártemis was on the couch, watching the news and waiting patiently for Calista to leave the room. Calista looked around the living room.
"Relax, Mumma G has already left. She was not in a good mood, I must say." The girl alerted her mother.
"I can imagine that." Calista signed while heading to the kitchen to make breakfast.
"Are you both okay? I mean, between all possibilities." The girl stood up and got nearest her mother.
"I'm sorry. You shouldn't have seen it. We shouldn't have done it." Calista apologized to her daughter.
"That's okay, mum. You don't need to apologize to me. Of course, a girl can dream about having her parents married again. But I know you too well to see that your feelings didn't change. I'm afraid I know Mumma G as well. And, I guess she still had some hope until this morning." Ártemis was now hugging her mother.
"Yeah... And I probably just hurt her even more." Calista was feeling regretful for the way she spoke with Gaia.
"Let it be, Mum. Let her stay with her plants. They always make her feel better. She'll come by her sense in time." Ártemis concluded wisely.
"When did you grow up, kiddo? Where is my baby girl?" Calista caressed her daughter's hair with kindness. "Well... let's eat if we intend to spend the morning in Burlington."
Once in Burlington, Ártemis fancied a new outfit for school and a whole stationery kit. Calista was more than happy to provide all this unique experience to her daughter. At noon, they had fast food for lunch, as Ártemis desired, and while the girl was buying them some ice cream, Calista received a message. It was from Larissa.
"L: Hi. How are things going in Burlington? Are you two having a good time?"
"C: Hey. Morning! Things are going great. Temis made me buy her a lot of items she didn't certainly need."
"L: I bet she's having fun, then. Would you like to have dinner with us here in Nevermore? So you won't be on your own at home."
"C: That would be great. Thank you!"
"L: Marvelous. See you later. Oh...by the way, Gaia is moody today. She was not good company at lunchtime. What happened?"
"C: Hangover. Too much wine last night. I have a terrible headache, and she is in a bad mood."
"L: Ohh...I see. Well, let's take it easy tonight, then. Xx"
"C: Yeah... That would be wise. Xx"
Calista was distracted and with a funny face. She didn't notice Ártemis coming back with their ice cream.
"What are you laughing at?" Ártemis couldn't help but smile, too.
"Larissa just sent a message to ask if I would like to have dinner with you and took the opportunity to say that Mumma G is moody," Calista answered.
"Poor, Ms. Weems." Ártemis thought about Gaia being rude. "I like her, you know? Principal Weems. She seems to be a nice person. Were you friends at school?"
"We were. She was always with Mortícia, but sometimes we had time to speak peacefully. She is a nice person. But it would be best if you kept in mind that she is your Principal. When classes begin, she must do what she needs to keep the school running. There is a possibility that she won't have much time for you and won't be so gentle." Calista warned the girl. "Do not confuse the person with the Principal," Calista added.
"Copy that, mum." Ártemis bowed her head to Calista. After a few seconds, Ártemis asked, "Do you think she is married?"
"Who? Larissa? I don't think so, but it's been years since we last met. I don't have a clue about how her life is going." Calista wondered if Larissa had been serious with someone. "You tell me. You've spent a lot of time with her lately."
"She doesn't talk much about her personal life. Especially with me. I may be her former school friend's daughter, but I'm still a student at Nevermore." Ártemis said. "And it seems that our days are in a countdown." She was sad about that.
"I didn't say that. I meant that this closeness between the two of you will be scarce. She will remain kind to you, but she is a Principal." Calista was finding it difficult not to worry about this friendship. Being away, it will be normal for Ártemis to look for Larissa to replace her mother. They were getting along too well. Will Larissa be ready for that? Will Gaia be prepared to see Ártemis getting close to Larissa? And Calista? Will she manage to watch all this from far away? "So, let's continue shopping, or do you would rather stay muttering to yourself?" Calista shook her thoughts away and stood up.
"Shopping!" Ártemis followed her mother.
They were driving back to Jericho when Calista started a conversation.
"Are you willing to start a new life here?" She looked side-eyed to the girl, maintaining her focus on the road.
"Yeah... I have a good feeling about this school. I don't know; it feels like the right place to be." Ártemis was admiring the view. "I mean... Probably, it has the same issues as the normie's school. But being an outcast among outcasts, I believe, is much better. Even for a shapeshifter, I guess."
"I already told you this; you don't have to tell them. Take your time. Know who you're friends are." Calista reaffirmed.
"I told Ms. Weems I was a shapeshifter. She was surprised. I guess we are not common in Nevermore, right?" The girl looked at her mother, who kept her eyes on traffic.
"No, you are not. So, you must be sure you wanna tell your friends." Calista gave a glimpse to Ártemis. "Nevertheless,  I am positive that Gaia and Principal Weems will stand by you regarding these terms. And you can always count on me. You know that. If you feel you must go back home, do it and call me."
"Is it an insurance or a desire?" Ártemis tighten her eyes to her mother in an attempt to be suspicious.
"Neither. I want you to remember that you are not alone." Calista rushed to answer. "I will miss you, but I want you to be as happy as I was in Nevermore."
At this, Calista parked her car in front of the school and hugged her daughter.
"Ohh... We are already here. That was a fast trip, Mom. It wouldn't be tiring if you had to do this daily journey." Ártemis muttered as if she were talking to herself.
"What do you mean?" Calista already knew. But she made Ártemis express her feelings.
"I am saying that when you get tired of missing me, you come to live in Jericho and work in Burlington. They have hospitals, a University, and a Medical Care Center. You can find a job there." Ártemis was shaking her arms, trying to make her mother understand.
"Are you also in a bad mood?" Larissa showed up frowning at them.
"Hi, Ms. Weems. We're not. I was just emotionally blackmailing my mother, and she was pretending she didn't comprehend it." Ártemis showed her teeth to Larissa with a significant smile and got into the school, leaving the adults behind.
Larissa made a question face to Calista at this statement.
Calista let a heavy breath out and explained. "She is trying to convince me to quit my job as a University professor in North Carolina and move to Jericho. She has been in this attempt since we left home and now come to her sense that Burlington is nearby." Calista rounded the car and opened the trunk.
"They have a university in Burlington, you know. And you can be around if she needs you." Larissa said as if it was apparent, and Ártemis was her only worry.
"You have joined the chorus too?" Calista looked up to the blond woman.
"I am just saying it's not a bad idea. She would enjoy you living nearby. I would, too." She lowered her voice at this.
"Would you?" Calista tried to hide her surprise.
"Of course. You know that." Larissa took some packs from the car trunk. "Let me help you with that. I imagine those are Ártemis'."
"They are." That's all Calista could manage. She took the remaining packs and followed Larissa inside.
They headed to Ártemis' room in silence. Calista was thinking about what Larissa let out, and Larissa was giving a glimpse to Calista occasionally. That conversation was still on hold, and postponing it became more challenging. They found Ártemis looking for something inside the bags she handled.
"Hey... Here it is. All your shopping." Larissa said, putting the bags on the bed and giving the girl a soft laugh.
"Thank you, Ms. Weems. Mumma C made me forget about them." She smirked, side-eyeing Calista.
"Oh... Now it's my fault." Calista sighed. "Speaking about guilty. Would Gaia be in the greenhouse? I need to speak to her." She turned to Larissa.
"Probably. She spent all day there. As I said, she was not on good terms today." Larissa replied.
"Yeaahh... Moral Hangover. Mumma C broke her heart this morning." It slipped away from Ártemis. She wide-opened her eyes, realizing what she just has said.
"Oh, Temis." Calista moaned, putting a hand on her face.
"What? Ms. Weems knows you've been married. Flashback happens, right?" The girl was organizing her new belongings in the bathroom.
"Oooh...shut up!" Calista used her powers to slam the door and keep the girl inside.
"Now you use your powers?" Her voice was baffled.
"Did you sleep together last night?" Larissa lowered her voice and stared at Calista. Her eyes now were greyer than blue. Calista couldn't decide if it was sadness, anger, or jealousy.
"Not that I owe you any explanation, but yes. We drank too much wine, and I was feeling nostalgic for their departure, and one thing led to another. It was a mistake, and I might have been too rough with her telling the truth." Calista explained more than she intended to. "And now I want and have to apologize myself. I don't wanna leave with unresolved issues."
"That's exactly how you left me 22 years ago." Larissa was resentful.
"And where it has left us, huh?" Calista replied. "Gaia was my wife and mother of my daughter, and I'll fix things out."
*Knock knock*
"Mumma C, let me out! I've learned my lesson." Ártemis shouted from inside the bathroom.
Calista and Larissa were close to each other, and before Ártemis got out, they backed off a little. At the sight of the girl, Calista cleaned her throat and nodded in Larissa's direction.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Weems," Ártemis said, lowering her eyes.
"That's alright, my dear. After so many years around students, we get used to hearing those things." Larissa smiled at the girl.
"So, I see you both at dinner. I will humiliate myself to Gaia now." Calista looked at Larissa, and she nodded.
"Good luck!" Ártemis said.
"So, darling, how did you like Burlington?" Calista heard Larissa ask Ártemis from the hall while leading to the greenhouse.
Gaia was working on her microscope when Calista arrived and leaned against the doorframe. She cleaned her throat to call Gaia's attention and received a mere glance over the device's eyepieces.
"May I come in?" Calista started the conversation.
"You're already in. But, yes, you may come nearer." Gaia answered, still looking through the microscope.
"I've come to apologize for earlier. It was far from my intention to hurt you, but I know I did it. I am truly sorry." Calista patted Gaia's hand.
Gaia let out a heavy breath, laying her forehead on the eyepieces. "I've thought about what happened between us last night and, yes, you were a brat with me this morning, but I must admit it shouldn't have happened." She looked at Calista with a soft smile. "You know I still love you, and last night felt like returning home. I know you don't feel the same, and I overreacted." Gaia was blushing hard.
"Still... It was not cool of me treat like that. I don't wanna go back home being on bad terms with you. We've been together for almost 20 years and have a daughter. You don't deserve the way I treated you." Calista insisted.
"You're right. I am too good for that shit." Gaia scoffed, and both laughed at this. "Ohh... Forget it. I might have pushed it a bit, you know. But, as I always say..."
"...a girl can dream. Yes, I know." Calista completed the sentence. "So, friends again?"
"Well... Do you see that vase on the other side of the room? I honestly need it right now. If only someone could bring it to me. It would be awesome, and I would probably forget any misunderstanding." Gaia spoke as if it was not a big deal.
"I think I can manage that, you know? Easy peasy." Calista brought the vase to Gaia using her telekinetics.
"Oh... What do we have here? Just the vase I needed. " Gaia faked a surprise. She looked at Calista and gave her a slight smile. "We are okay, 'Lista. Let's move on."
"Thank you." Calista sat observing Gaia work at the vase.
"I owe Weems an apology as well. I guess I was a bit rude to her at lunch." Gaia mentioned while working. "My rudeness was for remaining silent all the time we ate. She tried to converse, but I was not in the mood."
"You don't have to worry about that. Ártemis already explained openly about it." Calista was laughing.
"Oh God. Poor Weems. Ártemis is a piece of a kind. I imagine her face when 'Temis said she found us in bed together." Gaia was now with a bright grin on her face.
"Those blue eyes opened wide more than I thought possible. But I imagine she is used to listening about sex being the Principal of a teenagers' school." Calista chuckled.
Calista and Gaia talked about Calista's day with Ártemis in Burlington. Gaia was finishing her duties when Ártemis sent a message to Calista.
"A: I hope you are alive. Dinner is ready. We are having it in the yard again."
"C: Don't worry. Things are great. We are coming."
When Gaia and Calista arrived, Ártemis and Larissa were chattering and waiting for them. Calista enjoyed the connection between them, and it was noted by Gaia.
"They get along very well, huh?" Gaia whispered.
"Yeah...I hope it makes it easier for Ártemis to adapt here. I count on you and, now, on Larissa to keep me aware of her needs." Calista whispered back.
"I can talk for myself, and you know I'll do anything to improve her life. I love that girl with all my heart, even if I look strict to her sometimes." Gaia's speech made Calista's heart infatuated. Calista held Gaia's hand and looked with a soft and thankful smile.
"Oh...I see you two are good again." Ártemis spotted the tender moment between mother.
"Yeah...Well, adults are like this, love. A roller-coaster." Calista kissed her daughter's head.
"Don't grow up so fast, baby." Gaia completed. "By the way, I'm sorry, Principal Weems, for earlier. It was not fine of me." Gaia apologized.
"Please, call me Larissa. Classes haven't begun yet, and we are here as friends." Larissa said with a smile. "And you don't need to apologize yourself. Everyone has a bad day." Larissa comforted.
"Thank you." Gaia bowed her head. "So, 'Temis, Mumma C told me that now you have even more belongings that you need," Gaia said playfully.
"I guess she overreacted. I needed all those things." Ártemis feigned affectation.
"Oh yeah? Tell me about it." Gaia chuckled.
Dinner was light. Ártemis wanted to know everything about the events Nevermore held. Larissa was glad and proud to explain them to the girl. She has never had a student so eager to learn about the Academy. After the events, it was time to learn about the facility itself. In this field, Gaia and Calista joined the conversation to help Larissa describe the school and its grounds. Gaia was an expert on the forest. She was always wandering around, touching and learning about the plants. She was looking forward to showing everything to her daughter. To Ártemis' delight, Gaia suggested they could anticipate the picnic from next week to the following day. The idea was well-received by everyone.
"I guess I'm going to bed, then." Ártemis yawned. "Good night, Mumma C. Drive home safely. Good night, Mumma G. Good night, Ms. Weems." Ártemis received farewell for the remaining and left for her quarters.
"I'll follow 'Temis' steps and hit the night." Gaia stood up. "Good night, 'Lista. Drive safely. " She kissed Calista's head crown. "Good night, Larissa. Sleep tight, you both." And then, she left.
Larissa and Calista were now alone and sitting in front of each other at the table.
"I can see you two made up." Larissa started.
"Yeah... I didn't have to humiliate myself. Gaia has her heart in place." Calista answered with a grin.
"She does indeed." Larissa agreed. "I am sorry for reacting that way in Ártemis bedroom. I have no right to reclaim any explanation to you. Especially about your marital life." Larissa stared at Calista, looking for forgiveness.
"That's alright. Let's forget about it." Calista said.
"By the way, I've heard your voicemail. You have my word that I'll help Ártemis with anything she needs about her powers. Shapeshifters are outcasts among outcasts. I've never been open about my abilities around our schoolmates, which caused me pain. I don't Ártemis to feel the same." Larissa soothed Calista.
At that moment, Calista was sure her daughter would have the support she needed to succeed, and Calista was beyond happiness.
"This support is essential to me. Thank you." Calista answered with watering eyes. "Well, It's late, and I should get going. Tomorrow, we are going to have an adventure day." She said, standing up.
"I'll accompany you to the door." Larissa paired with Calista, and they followed in silence.
Calista turned to Larissa at the car, and they looked at each other a bit longer.
"I am having a great time around you and your family these fast days," Larissa said, holding Calista's hand. "I'm thrilled we met again."
That was sufficient for both. They closed the space between them and leaned for a kiss. Calista's heartbeat accelerated, and she cupped Larissa's chin with tenderness. It was exactly as she remembered. The same softness and the same smell. Today, Larissa's breath had scents of wine. Calista felt Larissa's hand on the back of her head. Before the kiss goes deeper, Calista's phone rings. The two women backed, startled.
"Oh...Hey, 'Temis, what happened?" Calista put a hand on her chest. Larissa's gaze softened after hearing Ártemis' on the speaker.
"A: Hey, Mumma C. Could you bring me hot chocolate from The Weathervane tomorrow?"
"Of course, baby girl. Your hot chocolate will be with you in the morning." Calista said, laughing and raising an eye to Larissa.
"A: Thank you, Mom. Good night. I love you."
"I love you more, precious. Sleep tight. See you tomorrow." Calista hung up the phone. "Well...I guess this is my cue. I have to go." She said, looking at Larissa and holding her hand.
"Do you have to go?" Larissa pleaded Calista.
"I think it is better this way, for now. Besides, I have a hot chocolate order for tomorrow." Calista remembered.
"Well, in that case, could you bring me one too?" Larissa asked, rounding her arms in Calista's waist and pulling them together.
"How could I deny a request like this one?" Calista pecked a kiss on Larissa's lips.
"Are you sure you don't want to stay?" Larissa tried again.
"I am sure. Besides, we must have that conversation before we go any further." Calista resisted.
"Yeah... I guess you are right." Larissa kissed Calista's lips and let her go. "Good night." She said, caressing Calista's cheek.
"Good night, Larissa." Calista kissed Larissa's hand and went ahead to her car.
So you're now the darling of the wonderful Eliza. You might be asking, how do I become the most perfect darling for her? WELL GOOD NEWS. Thats why I'm here, this step by step guide will give you the information you need to be her best darling.
Step 1: Hunting and Cooking. She is absolutely going to provide foo for you by hunting down living things for you to flay and cook. You might have noticed I said living things and not animals, don't worry, we'll get to that. Anyway, you should always accept her hunting gifts like the puppy you are. Remember, waste nothing. She may also bring you things to cook for her, which she will absolutely love you to cook for her. She will also love it if you give her a list of things that need to be hunted, so do it.
Step 2: Cannibalism. I told you we'd get back to the "living things" part. She is not afraid to hunt people and eat them as she has 0 issues. She'll be especially elated if you eat with her, and I do mean the flesh of that person she just killed. Hell, do not be afraid to ask her to feed you it mouth to mouth, that just makes it hotter.
Step 3: Affection. Absolutely call her "Good Girl." or "Good Alpha" after every kill she gets. She not only will be absolutely in love with it, but if you give her head pats and ear scratches she will just melt into the cutest ball of fur you've ever seen. You should also ABSOLUTELY allow her to mark you with a bite to claim you as hers. Don't worry if her tail is wagging and she starts licking your face, that means she loves you.
Step 4: The Bedroom. You have found the fun times. I'm going to make a recommendation here, let her scent you as much as possible while she fucks you and absolutely while she is knotted. The more you two mix, the better. You can also make her VERY easily aroused by using the reward of getting to breed you every time she completes a good or extraordinary hunt. I'm serious, try it.
Step 5: Pups. Listen, she absolutely wants to get you pregnant, and you should let her. If you are on birth control, don't. Any and all forms of birth control can and will be destroyed or sabotaged. You are going to let her breed you. Now, when you are pregnant your breasts might ache due to the fullness, let Eliza handle giving you relief. As a good mother to her pups, you need to provide good milk and Eliza can make certain that the pups will grow strong and healthy by testing your milk herself. You should be asking for her to relieve you.
Step 6: Others. Make a list, I'm serious. You should be making a list of your exes, bullies, and anybody that has likely wronged you. In return, she will kill them for you, and you will turn their corpses into a 3 course meal. Maybe even turn them into breakfast lunch and dinner and eat them with her. Go ahead. Do it.
Step 7: Chase. You should absolutely tell her you want her to chase you. Don't forget to ask for a head start, because she is quite the hunter and will not only hunt and pin you down but will very likely want to fuck after catching you. Let her. You will let her. Give her a challenge when she chases you, she'll love it more.
Now its not the end, no. This is the final step for you to be the perfect darling for Kassien's and I's adopted daughter, Eliza. Let me tell you now, it is the most important step.
Step 8: Make her happy. Thats it. Don't even think about making her cry or hurting her. We are watching and we are more than willing to make sure you're her perfect darling ourselves. Eliza is our sweet darling and you should only ever make her happy and keep her happy. Be prepared to be introduced to us as we will want to meet her darling. So once again. Make. Her. Happy.
And that is the guide to being the best darling for Eliza. I hope you can make her the most happiest girl in the world, as she is just such a lovely thing. As long as you follow these steps, you'll be the best darling you can be.
-Written by Eliza's adoptive parents.
i giggled the whole time i read this, thank you.
Gato y Ratón (Alexia Putellas x Reader)
This is Part #2 to the Jefa story, read that first if you want back story. I could definitely be persuaded to write more in this universe, I really like the power play here, but as always wanted to get something out for y'all. Let me know what you think :)
Knowing what Alexia tasted like was torture. Having to see her almost every day and not being able to have her was torture. Watching her thrive in front of the media and under the spotlights was torture. The worst of all was watching how down she got every time her team fell apart was torture, but it was the one thing you could act on.
After having been around the team for the last few months, you knew they had the talent and drive to get back to the team they were. Just from watching them interact on and off the field you knew they had a disconnect, but you didn’t know what it was.
Deciding that one day after a rough training session where none of the team was connecting you needed to get them out of that environment. To do that you needed to get the team on board, as well as Alexia.
It took you a few days to organise it, but you had rented an airbnb on the beach, that could sleep everyone relatively comfortably, you had ordered food to be catered, and drinks to be chilled. You wanted the team to be able to bond in an environment with no outside influences or any coaches to be in the way.
You had spent enough time with teams and players that you knew mental burnout sometimes cause friction. You also knew that many professional athletes take breaks when they need to reset. You hoped that this weekend off would provide them with that.
You had sent out an email to the players asking them to pack a back for the weekend, and to meet the team bus after training on Friday to be taken to a team bonding weekend. You had made sure to word the email as mandatory but without forcing anyone to come.
You had gone over while they were training o ensure everything was set up and organised for the players arrival. Once you had no other tasks to complete, you ended up pacing in front of the pool in the backyard. You were nervous, unsure how the team would take it but you know at the very least they would be able to relax and hang by the pool and beach.
When you finally heard the bus pull up, you headed towards the front door to greet the team. You can feel your heart hammering in your chest, and the nerves start to get worse. You really hope this is going to help the team and not hurt it.
“Hola Y/N!” is the greeting you get from most players as they get off bus and grab their bags. Once they are all off the bus and gathered around in front of you, all with questioning looks on their face.
“Hola Team, This weekend is for you guys. There is no coaches or staff going to be here, just you players. You have the whole place to your self, some of you will have to share rooms but I trust you can all figure that out. There is going to be food served for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a stocked bar and pantry for you guys to fend for your self.” You pause and take a moment to think of what else you want to say when your interrupted.
“Y/N why did you do this for us?” Mapi yells out to you from the back of the crowd.
You laugh and say “Well honestly, I hope it gets your heads out of your asses and you guys can figure out why you cant play together.”
The team mostly laughs but you hear Patri ask “so you basically just want us to party for the weekend and hope it works out?”
“Hey, if thats what it takes then thats what it takes. Now let's get you all inside so you can start the party as Patri calls it.” you finish with a wink at the younger girl who now has a blush on her cheeks for being called out.
As the team files into the house behind you, Alexia has lingered to be the last one to enter. Once everyone is through the door she stops in front of you and says “Thank you for this Y/N.”
“It’s my job to do anything I can to help my team Ale.” you tell her with a small smile.
She shakes her head and looks around and into the house, she closes the door over most of the way and steps up to you. She refrains from touching you but she’s so close you can see her eyelashes, and smell her unique smell. “I cant stop thinking about kissing you Y/N” she whispers into the gap between you two.
You feel the shivers down your spine as you long to close the distance between the two of you. “Ale, you know I cant.” you tell her with a shake of your head.
Before she can respond you can hear the team yelling inside about bedrooms and who gets what bed. You can also hear them yelling for Alexia, she takes the moment of hesitation to step forward and place a kiss on your cheek before she whispers “Whenever you are ready Y/N, I am here” and she spins and heads into the house.
You are left standing there still feeling the ghost of her lips on your cheek, and the knowledge that you are only being held back by a very thin thread.
“Y/N?” turning towards the voice you see Patri standing in the doorway. “You coming back inside?” she asks you.
You shake your head and say “no, this is for the team. You guys have fun and enjoy yourselves without and coaches around”
Patri laughs and adds on “are you at least going to say goodbye?”
“Who's saying goodbye?” You hear from inside the house, as the door is yanked open to reveal Mapi, Alexia and Ingrid standing inside the door.
“Y/N is leaving, says its team only” Patri tells them.
Mapi shakes her head and says “no way, you gotta stay and enjoy this place you organised, its amazing”
Shaking your head again you tell them “Nope, this is for you guys to enjoy and bond and all that.”
You can hear shouting deeper into the house and then Patri, Mapi and Ingrid all turn and head deeper into the house yelling there goodbyes over their shoulders.
“Are you really leaving?” Alexia asks you as she takes a step closer to you.
You step back and say “yes I am, please let me go without a fight Ale”
She puts her hands up in an innocent gesture and adds “Fine, but just know I wish you would stay.”
“thats not a good idea, Im trying to be professional here Ale.” you tell her with a shake of your head and a slight blush on your cheeks.
She laughs and decides to end this so she steps forward and places a kiss on your cheek and says “Goodbye Y/N” and she turns and heads back in to the house before you have a chance to respond.
Heading down to your car, you are again thinking about the torture that you feel being so close to Alexia but not being able to act on it.
**
The following week at training the team is lighter and the environment is better, its good to see them playing better a team again. All the players have each thanked you for the weekend getaway and they all agreed that it has definitely helped clear the air within the team. During the weekend the team was busy you also took the time to discuss with the coach what could be done abut the staff. There was clearly some issues with the staff and the players and how they got along, and you knew it was time for a change over.
Weeding out the negative staff was a priority and you knew that the players would feel better once the staff was out. It meant that you were going to be in interviews for new members but it was the price to pay.
You had been in and out of interviews all day and were taking a break between interviews and were waiting for your coffee to be made in the lunch room. Distracted by emails on your phone you fail to hear the door open and someone come into the lunch room. It isn’t until you can feel eyes on you that you kook and see Alexia eyeing you like you were a piece of meat.
“Hola Ale, how’s training?” you ask her.
She shakes her head and steps up to you, she places bother her hands on your hips and says “If I had known you were wearing this I would have come found you earlier today.”
“I’ve been conducting interviews, so I had to look the part today” you tell her with a shrug. You don’t think the tailored suit you are wearing was anything special, but it's clearly working for Alexia.
“Y/N, you look amazing, I don’t know how to go back to practice after seeing you like this.” she says as she steps even closer to you and you know she is going to be trouble.
You are caught between her and the counter so you place your hands on her stomach to keep her at bay, what you failed to realise before is she is in only a sports bra and you now have your hands directly on her abs. You flush and say “Ale, we can’t”
She shakes her head and asks “Why can’t we? it's not like you can change my playing time, I think the fans would go crazy if you benched me.”
You laugh at her as she says this and say “I would never override anything Coach does Ale, you know that”
“I know, I just wanted to remind you that they do still call me La Reina.” she says with a smirk, her hands are still on your hips and you can feel her thumbs rubbing circles on your hip bones.
You shiver under her ministrations as you say “Please Ale, I have to go back to my interviews”
She shrugs and says “I’m not stopping you.”
You push against her abs with your palms and she takes a step back, you step around her towards the door and you hear her say your name. You turn back around and she has your coffee in her hand for you “thank you Ale, you made me forget why I was here.”
She steps forward and presses her lips to your cheek as she heads back out the way she came in. You can feel that thread holding you back at thiner at this moment.
**
The following week you have not had any luck with your interviews when you are pulled away and have to leave the interviewing up to your assistant. You hope she has better luck, and when she calls with a glowing review you tell her to hire them as you needed to get this ball rolling.
When you finally make it back to the training grounds it's a week after your new trainer has started and you still hadn’t met them. You were looking forward to seeing the team again, as a lot of the girls have become more like friends to you than anything, plus it never hurt to see Alexia again.
Imagine the surprise when you walk up to the training ground and you are met with a gorgeous new trainer who is clearly the centre of attention for the players. You cant believe you never thought to look up the trainer before hand, but you trusted your assistant.
“Y/N! You’re back” Mapi immediately greets you when you walk up to the bench where some of the team is getting their boots on. You smile and greet the players there and move to take a seat on the end of the bench when you hear your name.
You turn and see Patri and Alexia walking over with the new trainer. “Y/N have you met Marie yet? she’s awesome.” Patri says to you.
The trainer blushes under the praise and sticks her hand out to you as she says “Hola Y/N, I’ve heard a lot about you”
You shake her hand and tell her “Hi, I hope you ignored it all”
She laugh and says “I only believed what Alexia told me” as she says this she places her hand on Alexia’s forearm, you start to see red around your vision, maybe mixed with a bit of jealousy too.
Alexia laughs and says to you “I promise I only told her the good stuff about you Y/N”
You are still to wound up to see that she’s trying to get you to look at her so you say “It’s fine, you can tell her anything you want.”
“Well Alexia has been amazing for the last few days getting me up to speed and making sure the team treated me well. Its been amazing being able to work on la reina” Marie speaks up and as she says this she bats her eyes at Alexia.
BEfore you have the chance to say anything else Patri chimes in “Hey, I thought I was the favourite?”
They all laugh, when Marie responds with a shrug “Sorry Patri, but have you seen her abs?”
You immediately feel the jealousy swoop inside you, you were gone for two weeks for work stuff and Alexia has immediately replaced you with the next new thing. You can feel the tears trying to work their way out of your eyes and before they can, you look to your phone and excuse your self to sneak away for a phone call.
Deciding then and there that you clearly had waited to long to act on your feelings with Alexia, you know it was too late. You had promised your self and Alexia that you would get the team in order first, and then they could explore what was between them. The new trainer was the last piece of the puzzle for you, but she was also your downfall. How cruel life can be sometimes.
Finding an empty room to allow your self to wallow you do. The next 20 minutes go by and you pull your self together, your team was happy and thriving and that is what mattered most. By the time the team is done with training you are sat in the lunch room on your computer getting some work done. You don't even notice the time, but you can hear the stampede of feet coming in for their post training meal.
You pack up and ready yourself to walk out as you couldn’t work in the loudness, when you feel a hand on your forearm. You look up into Alexia’s eyes and can feel your heart beat pick up. She has one hand on your forearm and the other is on your cheek and before you can even react she has turned you so you are facing her “Y/N that wasn’t what it looked like”
“Ale-“ you try to start and she places her finger on your lips to silence you.
“no, you don't get to shut me out. I’ve been patient, I’ve waited for you, but im done waiting. I have talked to the team and no one thinks we're going to be an issue. We all care for each other and everyone loves you. That isn’t an excuse any more.” she tells you as she says this you can see the team gathered around listening.
“Y/N, you told me this had to wait until the team was better and back on track. Well we are, we are better than ever and thats because of you, you have had our backs since day one. You noticed things we didn’t even notice we needed. Now we're all ready to kick ass for you. We want you to be the boss of a winning team.” As she says this she moves her hand to your cheek to wipe the tears that are falling.
“I want you Y/N, I have not been able to get you out of my head. You are the first thing I think of when I wake up and my last thought before I go to sleep. You have helped me get my team sorted, but you also have helped me get my head sorted. I am done waiting,” she finishes and she pulls you in to a deep kiss.
You sink into the kiss and pour all your feelings into it. You can hear the whistles in the back as her teammates cheer her on. You pull back and look into her eyes and ask “are you sure you want this Ale?”
She pulls you closer and says “I want all of it and more” and she finishes with a strong kiss on your lips.
All of me.
Part 4.
Pairing: Jake x Mc.
Warnings: slow burn, swearing, angst, a little fluff, smut, violence, and other pairings.
Words: 5.1k
Author's note: Although this story is not related to the Duskwood game, I will add some of our beloved characters. Please read it only if you're into angst prison stories, slow burns, etc. A little hint: You will get to see some similarities to Jake and his gang from "Never The Same" fic.
Tumblr media
It was the second tuesday night for me since I had been imprisoned in my own personal hell hole. Not much had happened in the last few days. Jake's body was slowly healing, and I didn't need to cool the bruises anymore to speed up the healing process. I was glad that I was back in my own bed with my own blanket again, but I also missed the heat Jake provided during the night.
Nights were getting colder in the prison, and the small blanket everybody got didn't do much to keep us warm at night. Food was still as terrible as ever, but Jake shared everything he could miss, so I would at least eat something somewhat decent. I never was someone with a lot of fat on my bones, but the little fat I did have was slowly fading away like a melting ice cube.
Tonight wasn't any different. Jake and I were both sitting across from each other on the small table in the corner of the canteen. The table has become our own personal table since last week. Jake had grumbled something about being done with sharing his table, and the two prisoners who usually sat at the table had left as soon as Jake had shown up in front of them. Ever since that moment I and Jake sat together at the small table for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, talking over small things while sharing Jake's food.
"Let me guess, your mom is gonna visit you again tonight?" Jake asked with a small sarcastic smile on his face.
"Yeah, she is. There isn't anybody else who would wanna visit me. So I'm glad that she does. Is there anybody coming to see you too?" I asked back, wondering if the same guy as last time was gonna visit Jake again. The last time the guy had secretly given Jake something, and I was curious if something like that was gonna happen again this time.
"There is, a dear friend of mine is coming to visit me. I haven't seen her in a while, so I'm pretty glad to finally see her again." Jake smiled at me, a real and genuine smile that reached his eyes.
I gave the male a small nod while I put another piece of meat in my mouth, wondering who it was that was gonna come and visit Jake. This person seemed to make him happy and relaxed. A form of relaxed I hadn't seen before in Jake. The guy was always on edge, tensed, and some form of mad. Jake was never, and when I mean never, I mean never relaxed. This person had to be pretty special to get Jake in this state of mind.
With a smile plastered on both our faces, we finished our food, and an hour later, both of us were sitting in the visiting room. I again a few tables diagonal from Jake's back and my mother again in front of me. While my mother kept on rambling about my dad and the things that were happening outside of the prison, I couldn't miss to notice that Jake was sitting on the table all by himself.
Whoever it was that was gonna visit Jake never showed up, and the male sat with his head hung low on the table all by himself. A look of compassion fell over me, and with eyes filled with pity, I looked at my cellmate. I didn't know why, but I felt sad for him. Jake had seemed genuinely happy to see this person, and now that person never showed up. At least...
With a loud bang, the door to the visiting room flew open, making everybody look up in shock. A short girl with ginger hair, a blue sweater, and tight black jeans walked in the room without any search through from the guards or a warning for the commotion she was causing. With two long strikes, the girl stood in front of Jake, and three seconds later, Jake was wrapped in her arms.
Nobody seemed to mind the fact that there was a no touching policy and this girl was doing the complete opposite, the guards didn't even spare the two of them a glance and kept watching the rest of the room like nothing was happening. The girl slowly pushed Jake's arms length away from her with a huge grin on her face.
"Oh my god, you've been losing weight. They aren't feeding you well enough. Once I leave here, I'm gonna speak to the warden to give you more food. I'm paying a lot of money for that shit and I expect that they keep their end of the promise as well. From the look of it, they aren't doing that, and they will see what's gonna happen if they go against Jessy Hawkins!" The girl blurred, astonished and angry at the same time.
My eyes widened at the remark, suddenly understanding why it was that Jake got different food than I did. I didn't know who this girl was to Jake, but I did know that the girl was paying a shit load of money for Jake to get him privileges the other prisoners didn't have.
"Jessica, can we please sit down? You are embarrassing me." Jake whisper shouted at the girl I now knew as probably Jessica or Jessy.
With a soft nod from the other, both of them sat down while I slowly turned my attention back to my mother, not being able to drown out the voice of Jake's visitor. Lets just say that Jessy was loud, really loud and since nobody was doing something to stop it anytime soon the girl's voice filled the whole room and literally everybody was able to overhear the whole conversation going on between Jessy and Jake.
"I've missed you so much..."
My vision turned back to them sitting diagonal from me, my curious nature getting the best of me again.
"Like so fucking much...We all miss you like crazy Jake, we all need you back over there. Kaden is becoming reckless, Sam is a freaking sunshine for nothing now that you aren't there, Lex keeps complaining and the same goes for Dan. I can't keep running this whole thing anymore, they are getting out of control. We need our Jake back, I need my child back..."
"I'm not your fucking child Jessica." Jake whisper shouted back.
"Is that the only thing you heard from all of that?!" Jessy gasped with her hand over her heart.
"No I missed you too, Jessy, no thank you for everything, Jessy, only a scolding for the fact that I called you my child, which you are by the way, whether you like it or not."
A smirk started to form on Jake's face, and with a soft nod of his head, an almost inaudible chuckle left his mouth.
"Of course I miss you people. How can I not miss the most chaotic and crazy people that ever entered my life."
"That sounds more like it, I've got a surprise for you when you come home." Jessy suddenly said with a really huge smirk on her face.
"Don't tell me that you've changed the interior into that awful pink stuff you wanted." Jake grumbled back dangerously low.
"Okay, Jake. One, don't use that tone with me. Two, it's not ugly. Pink is a way prettier color than that stupid black and white we got going on now. Three, I'm not gonna tell you anything that would ruin the surprise. So the sooner you get out of here, the sooner you will see it." Jessy scolded back, whispering the last sentence with the grin still on her face.
"Well tell Lex to hurry up then, I would have left this fucking building ages ago if it was up to me." Jake whispered back, his voice holding a sound of anger.
"Stop that, Jake. Lex is doing everything she can. Don't you dare scold my little friend or I will not visit you for another ten years." Jessy warned the male, her voice now back to normal.
I went my vision away from the conversation, concentrating back on my mother again. I really wanted to hear more of the conversation, but my mother wasn't here for nothing, and so I had no other choice than to focus back on her and leave Jake and Jessy be for now.
Visiting hour ended and everybody except from Jake and Jessy left the room to go back to their cells, I didn't know why Jake was allowed to stay but it had probably something to do with the fact that Jessy payed a lot of money for a lot of shit. It was the first time that I had been alone in our cell since my arrival at the prison, and to be honest, I hated it.
It was way too silent and cold without Jake there. The male always had a huge aura around himself and the cell we shared, and without it, it was cold and not comfortable. It made me realise even more how alone I really was now that I was in here and locked away from the rest of the world. Luckily for me, Jake entered the cell not even five minutes later with a huge grin on his face that made me race my eyebrow in a questioning way.
"So... You and your friend seem pretty close..." I drawled, trying to mask the laugh that was trying to escape my mouth.
"I...No...Yeah, we are. She's pretty protective and caring." Jake stumbled with a huge sigh, clearly embarrassed by the fact that I had noticed their interaction.
"No shit sherlock, she acts like she's your mother or something." I laughed at him.
"She doesn't." Jake barked back.
My eyebrow rose even further up into my hairline.
"She called you her child and asked if they were feeding you well..."
A soft chuckle left Jake's mouth at my statement.
"It does sound like it, doesn't it?"
I gave him a short nod, and before both of us could fully register it, we were laughing at Jake's friend and making jokes about the things Jessy had said.
I couldn't say that I liked it inside this hell hole, but I sure did like this little moment I had with Jake, and I would forever be grateful for it.
~
Five days passed by, five days in which not much happened except for the fact that Jake seemed a little off to me. I couldn't exactly tell what was off about him, but he wasn't the aggressive and disobedient guy I had gotten to know in the last few weeks. Jake almost looked like he was keeping himself under the radar. He almost looked like he didn't wanna be noticed by anyone right now, and I had no idea why.
I looked shortly at Jake. Both of us stood at our usual booth in the laundry room, but Jake had been acting weird the whole morning. Firstly, he had followed the routine once again without any trouble, and secondly, he was actually folding up his laundry.
Jake never folded his own laundry, so to say that I was in shock by this drastic change was a complete understatement. Besides that, I was sure Jake's body was definitely ready for new beatings, and there wasn't any reason for him to obey the routine like he had been doing the last few days.
To top it off I had actually told him two days ago that his body was close to being completely healthy again and I had thought that that statement alone would have been a 'Go' for Jake to do his usual things once again. Jake never did it, though. He stayed calm the whole five days.
He was not making even one misstep, and it was more than suspicious to me. This wasn't Jake. This wasn't my aggressive and short tempered cellmate. This guy was clearly an imposter, and I was determined to prove it.
I saw how Jake folded his last piece of clothing, and not a minute later, he was walking away to the small room at the back of the laundry room to put away the folded laundry. Without a second thought, I crawled down on the ground and crouched over the washing machines, hiding behind them while getting weird looks from the prisoners working there.
I put my finger over my mouth to signal them to keep quiet, and I grabbed a box of washing powder. With a quick look over my shoulder to see if the guards weren't looking my way, I threw the whole box of powder into the air. White powder started to fly out of the box, creating a cloud of fake cocaine powder that smelled like flowers, burned the eyes, and looked like a smoke bomb had gone off inside the room.
With my eyes closed, my nose pinched closed, and my mouth tightly shut. I started running through the cloud to the drying machines. With a ninja roll, I ducked next to the drying machines, staying out of Jake's sight. I quickly brushed off all the washing powder that had been stuck on me from running through the cloud of white flowery powder.
I looked crazy but at least I smelled nice for once. I heard how the guards started shouting behind me, getting mad at the four guys who operated the washing machines. Normally, I would have felt guilty and shit about the fact that someone else was getting blamed for something I actually did, but this wasn't one of those moments. I was determined to find out what Jake was up to, and nothing was gonna stop me.
I slowly crawled over to a huge box that stood right next to the drying machines and without a second thought I crawled under it, making sure that the little whole to normally pick the box up was in front of my eyes. My eyes fell once again on Jake, and every time the male turned his back to me, I made sure to move a little forward.
One time...Two times...three- Jake quickly turned around without any warning, and I literally fell down to stop myself from moving. Jake's eyes glanced shortly at the box, making me hold my breath completely.
One second...Two ...Three seconds...Four... Jake shook his head a little and turned back around. I immediately released the breath I was holding and crawled forward again. I now had a full view of Jake and the mischief he was getting at. Either Jake had been replaced by an imposter, and if he had been, I was pretty sure that motherly friend of Jake had something to do with it, or Jake was up to something. Either way, I was gonna find out about it, no matter what.
Not even ten seconds later, my prayers had been heard, and it became clear that Jake was indeed up to something and wasn't actually replaced by an imposter. The male was putting away the laundry but at the same time he was moving one of the tables slowly to the left while he kept looking at the guards who where still busy with the 'smoke bomb' I had created.
Within the next few minutes, Jake had managed to move the table to the other side of the room without anyone noticing while he was still putting away laundry at an extremely slow pace. I saw how Jake slowly removed something from his pants and threw it across the room. Within two seconds, a heavy bang sounded across the room, and one of the washing machines had a small dent on its side.
I sucked in a deep breath, and my vision darted between Jake and the commotion around the washing machine that had started a little away from our usual booth. Before I could fully register what was happening, Jake had climbed up the table and inserted something in the camera that hung above the table. As soon as the male had gotten up on the table, he was down from it, and I immediately knew that that was my cue to get away from this place and sprint back to our booth.
I slowly crawled backward under the box, and as soon as I was out of Jake's sight, I threw the box from my body and started sprinting back to my usual place.
Panting heavily, I started to fold my laundry again, seeing Jake slowly walk up to me from the corner of my eye. The male started to fold the new laundry that had been placed on our table like nothing had happened, and I casually leaned against the table, squinting my eyes at him.
"Why are you helping me? You never help me." I asked suspiciously. Jake shrugged his shoulders and kept folding the laundry.
"You got a problem with it? Can't let you do everything on your own, can I?"
I raised one of my eyebrows at him.
"Keep doing this, and I'm gonna ask the guards what they did to the real Jake and who this imposter is."
Jake turned to face me and gave me a daring glare.
"You do you, Mc, this sounds pretty crazy to me, to be honest, so you better stop this nonsense, or I'm gonna stop giving you the good food."
My eyes widened, and I immediately shut up, going back to folding my laundry. I had no idea what Jake was planning, but it sure wasn't good. I loved the fact that Jake was playing by the rules the last few days, but I didn't know if I was glad about that now that I knew that the male was up to something else. What Jake was planning would sure be a lot worse than the usual beatings he was getting, and I wasn't happy with it.
I hated being part of the commotion that happened when Jake got beatings, but this would sure be a lot worse if the guards would find out about it. The fact that Jake was keeping me in the dark and lied about his whole plan frightened me even more. I was slowly getting used to my cellmate and started to go fond of him but I had a bad feeling that Jake was gonna get himself in a lot of trouble and would leave me way sooner than I had thought.
I had a feeling that Jake was planning something stupid and that it wouldn't take a lot of time for me to find out what 'stupid' exactly meant.
~
Days started to become longer, and hours started to feel like days to me. I was slowly becoming used to this life in prison, but that also meant that things were starting to become boring, normal, and just a part of a routine. It felt like I was at school once again. The first few weeks were exciting. Everything was new and awesome to take in for the first time, but it would slowly become normal and just straight-up boring. That's exactly how I felt about my life at the prison.
Everything was new, and I didn't know what to expect for the first few weeks. Every day was filled with new surprises and new things to learn about, but now that I had been staying here for more than a few weeks, things were getting boring and every day was the same. Each day was filled with the same boring routine, the same damn clothes I had to fold, the same visitor on visiting night, and the same person I would call on phone call night.
Tonight wasn't any different, I once again called my mother, standing next to Jake, who would have a weird conversation filled with random words to one of his so-called 'friends'.
"Yeah, mom, they do feed me enough." I sighed in the phone. Even the phone calls with my mother were the same boring routine as always. She would always ask about my physical health and the fact that I got enough to eat. The answers were always the same. 'Yeah, they do, no need to worry.'
My eyes traveled over to Jake. He was once again whispering into the phone while mumbling out completely random words that had nothing to do with the conversation. Carnival, sailboat, fireworks, cat. It almost looked like the random words Jake used in his conversation were getting weirder by the day.
Much to my dismay, Jake had ended his phone call really quick this time, and I now only had my mother's voice to distract me from my boring prison life.
"Yeah, mom, I know... How's dad?" I asked to change our usual topic and turn it in a different way for once.
"He's fine, baby, still broken about your sister's death, but he's gonna get over that pretty soon." My mother answered softly but with slight hesitance.
"Does he wanna talk to me?" Uncertainty laced my voice. I knew my father wasn't happy about what happened and needed time to come around to speak to me. The one who killed his most praised and clearly favorite younger daughter.
"He...Please don't take this personal sweetie, but he doesn't wanna talk to you." My mother whispered with a soft crack in her voice. Tears started to well up in my eyes. I knew my dad wasn't okay with the whole situation, but I was still his daughter. I was still someone my dad should care about.
"Please tell me dad still thinks I'm innocent." I stuttered out to my mother.
The silence that followed my question told me enough. My dad thought that I had indeed killed my own sister. Tears started to flow down my cheeks. There were only two people that had claimed me innocent from the moment I had been arrested, my mother and my father. One of them still thought so. The other had finally given up on his daughter's innocence and was now framing me for the death of her most promising younger daughter.
A heavy sob left my mouth. I already knew I was on my own, but now it was even more clear to me that I had really no one to rely on except from my mother. I didn't even know if she really believed I was innocent or that she only felt pity for me and kept in contact with me only for that reason.
My father didn't even ask directly from me if I did indeed kill my sister. He just assumed I did and distanced himself from me. I couldn't even explain myself. My father somehow found the evidence against me proving enough and fitting. He really thought that his own daughter was capable of murdering his other daughter without second-guessing it.
Tears kept streaming down my face, and heavy sobs made their way out of my mouth. I was alone with not even my own parents to rely on. The phone I was holding slowly slipped out of my hand, crashing down against the wall with a harsh bang. I could still hear my mother calling my name through it, but I couldn't be bothered with it anymore. I felt like my heart was ripped out of my chest and stomped on. My whole body felt tense and cold. Shivers made their way up my back, and my breathing was completely uneven.
With heavy tears still streaming down my face, I made my way out of the room, walking as fast as possible to my shared cell with Jake without raising any suspicion. The guard that was standing in the hallway immediately opened the door for me, and with a quick few steps, I walked inside of it and fell down on my knees.
.
Jake focus.
.
I had been laying on my bed in complete peace, but then I slowly looked up from the sound of my cell door opening. My eyes immediately met with Mc's tear streaked face, and I slowly sat up. She crashed down on her knees with a soft bang, and deep sobs started to leave her mouth. Before I could fully register what was happening, I was already on my feet by Mc's side.
I softly lifted her up and placed her in a sitting position on the bed. I wrapped my arms around the crying brunette, and Mc immediately clung onto me like there was no tomorrow.
"What happened?" I whispered with the most caring tone I could find. I hated to see people cry. It showed weakness, and if there was one thing I couldn't handle, it was weaknesses. It was different with Mc, though. I didn't feel angry whenever she showed any form of weakness.
I didn't feel the urge to punch her and talk sense into her. I felt like I had to protect Mc from the thing that caused her to show her weakness. I didn't feel the need to punch Mc but to punch the thing that caused her to be like this.
"Mc, what happened?" I asked again with a somewhat soft and caring voice. Mc never answered. She only gave me a short shake from her head to indicate that she didn't wanna talk about it. I tightened my arms a little faster around her and started to rub soft circles on her back to try to calm the clearly broken girl in my arms.
I didn't know why but I wanted to learn more about the brunette in my arms, I wanted to know what was making her upset, I wanted to know what it was that caused her to cry this much, but most of all I wanted to know how I could cheer the brunette girl up.
I softly pushed one hand into Mc's hair and started to rub her scalp with small circular motions. At first, Mc stiffened at the gesture, but not even ten seconds later, I felt how she started to relax and somewhat calm down. Her breathing was getting calmer even, and the sobs that were leaving her mouth were slightly decreasing.
"Mc? Do you wanna play a game?" I whispered, trying to get her mind distracted.
Mc slowly lifted her head and gave me a short look filled with uncertainty. I loosened my grip a little and gave her a soft smile to convince her. A smile that proved to be convincing because not even five seconds later, Mc gave me a short nod of approval.
"How about 21 questions? You can start." I offered while sliding down the mattress to press my back against the wall. Mc immediately followed my movements and placed herself next to me against the wall. I quickly grabbed my blanket and placed it over myself and Mc to keep both of us warm while playing the game.
"What's your favorite color?" Mc whispered almost inaudible.
"I don't really have one, dark colors in general, I guess." I answered with a slight shrug of my shoulders, followed by my own question.
"What's your favorite animal?"
"Dogs. I really love them. If I ever get out of here, I wanna get one." Mc answered while she started to smile a little.
"What's your favorite food?"
I gave Mc a quick look, proud of the fact that my little game was having the desired effect on her. I already felt guilty about my next question, but I really needed to know what was so upsetting to the brunette.
"Pizza, why were you crying?"
Mc fell completely silent, the small smile that was displayed on her face a few seconds ago, and now completely gone. A heavy sigh left her mouth.
"I called my mom and asked about my dad. He didn't wanna talk to me, he thinks that I killed my sister without asking me about it. He framed me for a murder and he doesn't even know if I committed it or not. It made me feel like I'm all alone in the world, you know. I know I am, but hearing my mom saying it out loud struck a nerve, I guess." Another sigh left Mc's mouth, and she pushed her hand through her hair before turning to me again.
"Who was that guy that visited you the first time my mother came?"
I slightly raised my eyebrow, I hadn't known that Mc had paid attention to me or Kaden the first time her mother came over.
"His name is Kaden. He's my brother. Did you really kill your sister?"
"Would it matter what I answered to that? You wouldn't believe me if I said I did, but you also wouldn't believe me if I said I didn't. No one believes me. Everybody already has their own opinion ready." Mc answered, almost inaudible, completely ignoring to really answer the question.
"Just answer the question, Mc." I grumbled.
.
Mc focus.
.
"You probably won't believe me, but I didn't, happy now?" I blurred out. It probably didn't matter what I said because there was no way Jake was gonna believe whatever I had said. There was no right or wrong to answer that question it was only a matter of whether people believed your answer or not.
"Actually, I am, stupid question to ask, though." Jake answered with a smirk, making me realize my mistake immediately. I had asked Jake a question without me knowing and completely thrown away an opportunity to ask him something more personal.
"Do you have a boyfriend?" He suddenly asked with a small smirk plastered on his face. My eyes darted to my feet, and my face turned soft red. I softly shook my head.
"Never had one, dated a few guys, but it never became too serious." A soft yawn left my mouth after my short confession.
"Last question, after that we will go to sleep. You look tired." Jake stated and gave me an awaiting look. A million possible questions started to flow my mind, but I had no idea which one I wanted to have answered first, so I settled with the one that was most appealing to me right now.
"Can I share the bed again with you tonight? It's pretty cold all by myself up there." I whispered almost inaudible, my face turning cherry red. A smirk plastered itself on Jake's face again, and with a soft chuckle, he gave me approval for my request.
Both of us were now sharing the two small blankets on one mattress while sharing our combined body heat. At least there was someone who didn't hate me completely
Now that precious Carmel has joined our family, we’re settling into life as a family of four. Gabriel took a week off work to support me as I recovered from the birth, but now he’s back at it and I’m on my own with two under two! We're so blessed to live in a safe neighborhood with lots of fellow believers; in fact, my aunt and uncle live right across the street, and sometimes I like to stand at the window and "show" Carmel the house where I spent so much time growing up!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the mornings I try to steal as much sleep as possible, but one of the girls is usually awake and fussy by six or seven, and if not then I’m up anyway, prepping for the day. Now that I’ve started Abbey on solids it’s easier to eat breakfast as a family, and I’ll feed Carmel either before or after we eat depending on how hungry she is. Of course, amidst the chaos I always make time to nurture my personal relationship with God.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gabe heads off to work around eight with a kiss and healthy homemade lunch in his bag! He works so hard to provide for us, so I do my best to ease his burdens where I can. The rest of the morning is usually low-key. I’ll play with the girls, give Abbey a snack, work on some motor skills, and (ideally!) sneak in a load of laundry. After lunch the girls go down for naps, and that’s when I get the bulk of the cleaning done. Sometimes one of my sister-in-laws will drop in around midafternoon to see the girls and help out around the house, which is such a blessing. Between all that I make a point of having some "training time" with Abbey. It's so important to promote discipline and good manners, even in little ones.
Tumblr media
When Gabriel gets home I try to have the girls clean and happy for time with Daddy, because the last thing he needs at the end of a long day is a dirty, screaming infant shoved in his face. I don't know how secular women can stomach doing that to their husbands!
Tumblr media
After dinner we spend time together as a family, talking about our days, reading the Bible, and praying. Of course the girls can't understand much, but good habits start early! Then it’s baths and bed for Abbey and Carmel, and “date night” for us! It’s so important for me as a wife to meet my husband’s needs and carve out "couple time" before we start all over again the next day.
Though the small age gap between our kids can be difficult day-to-day, I’m so grateful for the little family I have, and I’m prayerful that it’ll lead to a close sister relationship for my girls- just like the one I have with my own sister, Tabitha. Following His design for my life and becoming a mommy has been the biggest blessing, and I can’t wait to see how God continues to work in our lives!
This week was shiva week.  If you don’t know what that is, it’s the days after someone dies, their close family members sit in low chairs for seven days and welcome guests.  People make meal plans and provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And the whole family essentially gets together and hangs out for seven days. I come from a religious family.  They know I’m gay, and they’re fine with it, but they don’t really talk bout it much, so I was never sure how much they accepted.  But I was sitting with my cousin and her eight year old son, and we had the following convo: 8yo: Do you have a husband? Me: No, and I never will!! 8yo: Why? Me: (I don’t know what the hell possessed me to say it this way but) Because I like girls Him: Oh. Him: So do you have a wife? Me: No, I have a girlfriend. Him: You should cut your hair so you turn into a boy. Older cousin: Is that how you think gender works? It depends on your hair length? Him: Yeah! And the conversation moved on.  I didn’t think much of it til today when I realized how monumental that conversation was. My religious cousin let me talk about my sexuality with her eight year old son.  I said “I like girls” in front of everyone and nobody passed out, nobody clutched their pearls, it was...fine.   I literally cannot explain how insanely big of a deal that is. I got so lucky somehow.  Wow.
