I might have done the same thing.” “That doesn’t make it right,” Leia said. “And it doesn’t make me a Sith monster, either,” Han retorted. “What he did wasn’t evil, it was human. Later, he became Darth Vader and did a lot of terrible things, but don’t forget that he’s the one who killed the Emperor.” “You’re saying you forgive him?” Leia asked. “After he froze you in carbonite?” “I’m just saying that without him, Palpatine would still be Emperor.” “You’re saying Darth Vader saved the galaxy?” Han shrugged. “Well, Anakin Skywalker. Think about it. If he’d have been a nice guy, do you think he’d have ever gotten that close to Palpatine?” Han continued to watch the banthas through the electrobinoculars. “Maybe that was your father’s destiny all along, to save the galaxy just like his mother thought he would - well, maybe not just like she thought. But he did save it.”

Every inch of his body hurts from the lightning pouring into him, leaving him gasping desperately for air when it finally stops. Except it feels like he can’t breathe and all he can hear is the rasping sound of his broken respirator. Everything around him is red again, and –

“Did you truly believe you would be free?” Sidious’ voice hisses, and when he looks up, he can see the Sith standing over him, at the top of a far too familiar lava bank. “Forget everything, except me.”

He jolts awake with a start, tears burning his eyes, choking back a cry – it was just a dream. It’s nothing to be so worked up over. Except… he cannot stop seeing it. He doesn’t know why he’s having so much trouble with this.

Anakin pushes himself upright, breathing labored as he struggles to find some semblance of calm. Ahsoka is here, and he doesn’t want to wake her with his fear, so he slips out of their room to just… be.

Even if only for a few minutes – though he hates being alone, and everything is so strange and different now that there’s nothing grounding to him anymore.

The room is dark and it’s not really helping, even if he thinks light would make it worse. All he can remember is everything Sidious did to him after he’d confronted Luke, no matter how hard he tries to suppress it.

He hears a sudden noise from behind him, and looks up to see Obi-Wan entering. “Anakin,” he says hesitantly, “I sensed you… awoke.”

“It’s nothing,” he replies automatically, stiffly. He doesn’t know how to… talk about this.

“Nightmare?” Obi-Wan guesses, and he nods. “Bad?”

“I have had far worse,” he replies, rubbing a hand over his face. Sometimes, he wishes he could just sleep uninterrupted.

Obi-Wan lays a hand on his arm and Anakin leans into it, freely letting himself be vulnerable for once. He lowers his head, pressing his forehead to his master’s shoulder. For a moment, they’re quiet. If only rebuilding something with Obi-Wan was as easy as it was with Ahsoka.

Obi-Wan’s hand is touching his back now, far gentler than it ought to be, and Anakin remembers with a surge of pain that that’s where his master cut him open on Jabi’im, that’s why he couldn’t walk – Obi-Wan’s lightsaber went straight through his spine and he inhales sharply, wincing.

It’s Post Rotj and Hanleia are at a alliance party/convention/recruitment where people are there from all over and there’s like someone singing but Rieekan has the grand idea for Leia to sing because so far the “thing” they are at is pretty lame and boring. Han doesn’t know Leia can sing and so she goes up there and sings (again any song but this came to me while listening to My Man from Funny girl so preferably that lol). And like people go crazy and stuff.

Obi-Wan's reference list. I found out I've never drew Obi-Wan in formal attire for this au, so I came up with formal clothes for this reference list. It has two variants: jedi one and non-jedi one, mostly because I love drawing fancy clothes.

In my opinion luke wanting to reinstate the old Jedi orders code in fics is kinda getting old. I feel like there are a lot more interesting ways to generate angst for post-Rotj fics that isn’t luke being stuck on the past. A few examples of these are:

The new jedi order doesnt have the funding or institutional support the old order had, and luke doesn’t know how he’s financially gonna back his new order

Parents don’t really trust the new order, since the jedi haven’t exactly been cast in a positive light for a few decades

The old jedi order offered other things other than force training ie: excellent education, agricultural advantages, flight training..etc. luke who only has a Tatooine level education has no clue how to provide all of that

Luke doesn’t have any credentials when it comes to teaching young children

Luke is only one guy and organizing and running a school is lot of work on your own

Feeling left out from the other remaining Jedi ie: ezra & ashoka

Luke feeling insecure that he doesn’t have as deep or as long a relationship with either of his masters compared to Ezra or Ashoka

Luke feeling kind of sad that most of his training was geared toward defeating Vader, and trying to figure out the softer sides of the force himself

Luke and Ashoka having an awkward relationship

Luke not wanting to be the new republics attack dog, but also not wanting to leave leia on her own

Luke grieving the life he dreamed of having before he found out about the jedi

Luke feeling guilt because he feels like his duty to rebuilding the order is minuscule compared to leias workload

Luke thinking leia would have made a better Jedi than him because she deals with grief better

I think these would have better angst potential, and honestly luke struggling because he doesn’t have any of the material or financial benefits of the old order is really interesting.
