Enneagrammatic Alchemical Symbols
Upon reading this write-up made by RafflesiaArnoldii (kendrixtermina) I was inspired to symbolically represent the Enneagram types in an alchemy-esque manner.
Centres of Intelligence & Underlying Fixations
Gut / Impulsive → Anger
Heart / Emotional → Shame
Head / Mental → Dread
Either fixation can manifest in a three-fold manner:
Exteriorised { anger / shame / dread }
Centralised { anger / shame / dread }
Interiorised { anger / shame / dread }
Tumblr media
Note. In hindsight, my symbols for 3 centres of intelligence are akin to how 4 congitive functions are represented in Socionics (〇 for sensation, △ for intuition, □ for thinking/logic, ∟ for feeling/ethics).
Object Relation Triads
Rejection / Transactionalist / Relationist → “Sulphuric”
Attachment / Pragmatist / Adaptive → “Saline”
Frustration / Idealist / Utopian → “Mercurial”
Tumblr media
Hornevian Triads
Assertive / Aggressive → “Idic”
Withdrawn → “Egoic”
Dutiful / Compliant → “Super-Egoic”
Tumblr media
Note. This is based on the theory of scrambling of centres. In hexad types (1/4/7 & 2/5/8), the secondary centre is in service of the primary, whilst the tertiary is (mostly) taken out of the picture; in triangle types (3/6/9), it’s their primary centre that is walled off from the secondary & tertiary centres.
Harmonic Triads
Positive Outlook / Reframing → “Sublimating”
Competency / Procedural → “Dissolving”
Reactivity / Expressing → “Præcipitating”
Tumblr media
Note. Out of the multitude of alchemical processes to represent the harmoning triads I have chosen the following three: sublimation, dissolution, & præcipitation. This was done on the basis of their metaphorical meanings that are in common usage but which have been ultimately derived from their respective primary (al)chemical significations.
to sublimate (← Latin sublīmō “to raise, elevate”)
(alchemy & chemistry) to change directly from the solid to the vapour state without passing through the liquid state
(psychology) to divert the expression of (an instinctual desire or impulse) from its unacceptable base or primitive form to one that is considered more positive or socially or culturally acceptable
Types 2/7/9 cope with an adverse situation by shifting away from it, reframing it into sth positive, habitually searching for silver linings, &c. Thus, they sublimate.
to præcipitate (← Latin præcipitō “throw down, hurl down, throw headlong”)
(alchemy & chemistry) to cause vapour to condense and fall or deposit; to separate a substance out of a liquid solution or suspension into solid form
(common usage) to bring about a certain condition, especially abruptly, sudddenly, and quickly; to fall headlong or act with violent or unwise speed
Types 4/6/8 have an immediate, intense, flaring response or even an outburst to an adverse situation. Thus, they præcipitate.
to dissolve (← Latin dissolvō “to loosen up, break apart”)
(alchemy & chemistry) to disintegrate into a solution by immersion into a liquid or gas
(obsolete usage) to solve; to resolve; to clear up
Types 1/3/5 tend to cope by finding rational, logical solutions. Verbs solve, dissolve, & resolve share the same root. The image that comes to mind is this: analysing the situation at hand (i.e., dissolution) and coming up with the most suitable course of action to deal therewith (i.e., (re)solution).
Constructing an overall symbol (ligature) for each Enneagram type
It is possible to construct a cumulative symbol for each type by combining their respective triadic glyphs into one ligature.
Thus, the Hornevian Triad glyphs for each type would become the base to which the rest of the glyphs would be adjoined.
Then, for hexad types, one would append the respective Object Relation Triad glyph (sulphur for 2/5/8 or mercury for 1/4/7) on top of the base; for triangle types, the salt glyph (for 3/6/9) would instead go underneath.
As for the respective Harmonic Triad glyphs, those would go below everything: the dissolution glyph (for 1/3/5) would be inverted for the purposes of visual congruity; the glyphs for sublimation (for 2/7/9) & præcipation (for 4/6/8) would be used as they are.
Instinctual variants
It is also possible to represent the dominant instinct by adding one of the following to the overall symbol for any Enneagram type:
[ * ] Self-preservation instinct
[ ** ] Sexual instinct
[ *** ] Social instinct
Note. These can be either asterisks or small dots and can be added onto any side of the main symbol. To represent all of the instincts from the dominant to the blind-spot, one can simply stack the asterisks or dots on top of each other accordingly.

mbti/enneagram typing for @ten-of-imps
isfp 6w7
Tumblr media
enneagram: 6w7
your tritype definitely contains 6w7. straight off the bat, the first answer you provide tells me a lot about your relationships with others. you value having a sense of security, and especially don't like being abandoned by others.
on a lesser related note, it seems very reminiscent of an enneagram 9 or 3 (which i'm not entirely surprised about, as 3-6-9 is a common triad + integration/disintegration path). the idea of abandonment combined with an attachment to "liking" or "humoring" those around you scream of enneagram 3 and 9, either in your triad or simply further supporting your 6 core.
you then go onto talk about desiring "more" in life, and having "nicer" experiences, which is why i gave you a 7 wing over 5.
the next answer you provide has a more positive outlook on the world, meaning there is a part of your tritype that relies in the harmonic triad (2-7-9).
imo this sense of optimism is still a 6w7. you explain that change is good, but uncertainty is not, which suggests that there is still an aspect where you struggle with the future. after all, the Duran/Catalan fixation for enneagram 6 is "certainty." it's also a common misconception that 6's are entirely scaredy cats, but more often than not when they take action "they can seem quite confident."
At the same time, 7's prefer "actively avoiding negativity," and 6's are still prone to denying fear. As Naranjo puts it in Character and Neurosis, "The counter-phobic denial of fear is no different in essence from the covering up of anger through excessive gentleness and control, the covering up of selfishness through excessive yielding, and other forms of compensation manifested throughout the range of characters, particularly in some of the sub-ennea-types."
this optimism/comfort may even suggest integration into enneagram 9 (again, part of the harmonic triad).
another minor reason why your wing was 7 instead of 5 is how you rationalized your emotions, particularly within the last answer. your descriptions of shame being something "we learn to feel" and relating it back to the world seem very true to the way an enneagram 7 would try to reason the emotion.
you like "researching things that sounds off or brings me fear."🧍need i say more?
MBTI: ISFP
you explain that your life is "deeply and depressingly based in sensory culture" and dreams are often unattainable in society. however, it seems like you are more disappointed in the value/impact it holds rather than sensory culture itself.
when people see objects, you want them to see meaning behind them. in this case, it's not necessarily ne/ni, as you USE these sensory experiences (se) to express your own meaning (fi).
for example, your last answer on experiencing emotions rang loud of fi-se, with the almost "poetic" descriptions. connecting these real world experiences to your own emotions seems very, very much isfp (fi-se).
Minor Details/Speculation
the tone of your answers lean both melancholic and sanguine
slight enneagram 3 in tritype: "Get to be someone I adore. Be someone who is adored."
4 wing for enneagram 3 fix (authenticity): "I ope to be seen as a person, without prejudices, without any roles I have to take up, to act as."

Misconceptions About Type 1
Type 1 is likely one of the more uncommon types within the enneagram system.  We often joke of the overtypings of 5s and 4s and proceed to forget that type 1 is also strongly overtyped.  The fact is that few if any enneagram authors were of the type 1 personality type, therefore much of what is written about the type is lacking this first person experience associated with the type.  This becomes very obvious in descriptions of 1 which almost entirely ignore 1s connection to the body triad and, at times, portray the type as if it were of the head triad.  When learning the enneagram, it becomes especially important to understand this difficulty and begin to reconceptualize our understanding of type 1 in particular.
1) Type one is "insert head type description here": Many descriptions portray 1 almost as though it were a head type rather than a gut type, which leads to a lot of 6s and probably even 5s mistyping as such. While 1s can be cautious, worrisome, cerebral and even theoretical/thoughtful, the core of the gut center revolves around instinct and body orientation.  Anger and frustration for the 1 is often felt intensely and in the body sense.  One of the best self descriptions I’ve heard from a 1 about this experience was the comparison of the self to a tuning fork, with “wrong” being identified as a dissonance between the self and reality.  While 1s sense of ideality as well as their sense of right/correct or wrong/incorrect can be intensely logical, have solid reasoning, and be thought through in great detail, the 1s sense of ideality does not stem from the mind, but from the body and that either intuitive or sensational sense of ideality and non-ideality.  This type is most often incredibly decisive and trusting of it's sense of directionality unlike the head types who will bolster their sense of judgement through impulse, intense research, external affirmation, or other means because the core of type 1 is not a distrust of internal guidance. The type literally only has possibility for positive outlook wings as well as a strong line to 7, a positive outlook type.  This manifests as this incredible sense of self trust in their own ideas and ability to assert judgement and provides a driving force for action and movement since, despite cynisism or pessimism, there is often assumption that ideality is something that can be reached for or even obtained.  This is the strongest distinguishing factor between 1 and other types consistently mistyped as 1.
It should be clarified further that “body sense” does not imply that all 1s need to be “sensing” types in the mbti sense or are remotely connected to their body in the physical or traditional sense.  Ideality can be abstracted in the intuitive sense, body sensations can be entirely filtered through an abstract lens in the sense that a 1 may not be able to describe it as it exists physically, etc.  The distinction must be made that the gut triad in general comes with this arrogant “I just know” sort of mentality that distinguishes it from the heart and head triads.
2) Type one represses anger and is often inclined to come across as composed: It is not uncommon for 1s style of anger to be misinterpreted as repressed, especially considering how uncommon this type actually is.  Textually, it can be difficult to find a word that is distinctly fitting for their style of anger. While 1 often prioritizes objective and clear thought, this types vice is still wrath. Perhaps this anger and rage may be internally justified as something that the 1 does not consider rage (ie. nitpicking, organizing, criticism, an explanation etc) or the 1 may even truly believe they are as cool headed and emotionally detached as many suspect themselves to be, however the 1's wrath is externally oriented and palpable. Wrath exclusively directed at the self, but not caught by others or a type that only manifests as being internally frustrated or critical of others alongside little to no external expression is a 9 thing. Repressing anger to maintain a clearheaded, objective stance is also more of a 9, 6, or even 3 trait rather than a trait that is primarily 1. 1 type anger is controlled, directional, and centered (rather than diffused and internally brewed as in the 9 or ranged, comfortably expressed, and impact focused as in the 8). This even applies to 1w9, who's sense of wrath may be oriented towards reducing discomfort or takes on the justification as being peace/balance seeking but is not as quiet or remotely hidden as some often expect it to be.
 3) Type 1 is rigid and Rule Abiding: They are, but to their own sense of structure, not necessarily external structures. 1 has a strong vision of how the world should be and what is lacking. The archetype of the perfect student who enforces the rules or the person dedicated to a strong moral system or "the goody two shoes" is 90% of the time a 3 or 6 at their core because both of these stances are strongly tied to pre-established systems and appeal to the attachment orientation. 1 at it's core is frustration and dissatisfaction. 1 isn't necessarily breaking rules and can have moral stances that connect to culture and common standards, but there is a strong connection to the body and impulse sense of anger and frustration rather than the more traditional focus on established systems and rules.  1 is far more often the generator of rules and standards rather than the follower of them.
4) The Core Fear of 1 is Being a Bad Person: While this is not necessarily incorrect, the way this is framed does not provide the necessary context that, once again, this is not really expectation based and that “bad” is not necessarily relating to morality.  You can have traditionally “evil” 1s who embrace the concept of being absolutely awful or, more commonly, are unaware of the effects of their behavior on others or hypocrisy because, once again, all of this self directed and critical behavior is a felt sense.  1 moves in the direction of it’s compass, that compass does not have to be remotely moral in the traditional sense.

Disintegrating Through Your Fixes: A Theory on Tritypes - An Enneagram Essay
Updated version here.
The theory is simple: Humans, when stressed enough, will disintegrate through their fixes in addition to disintegrating through their core type.
The event that led to this theory was a post I made a month or two ago in which I described a time in which I was so incredibly stressed that I disintegrated. However, another poster noted that this seemed much more like the disintegration of a 3 as opposed to a 5; and they were right. As such, I researched as much as I could on the differences between the 3 and 5 and consulted others proficient in enneagram. Through my research and their wisdom, I discovered that I have been in a prolonged disintegration to the 7 and never realized it, as that has become my “normal” - but that’s a story for another day. However, despite the evidence of me being a 5 clearly laid out, I couldn’t just brush off the fact that I had disintegrated to a 3. Thus, after more research, my theory came to life.
As far as tritype logic goes, nobody is fully within one center of intelligence; this is why the tritype theory exists. The tritype has one type for each center of intelligence, which describes how we deal with each respective center’s emotion. For example, you’ll also see in the Harmonic triads that each group has its own respective way of dealing with failure and disappointment. When one coping mechanism isn’t working, the mind moves to the next coping mechanism. If you are a 214, for instance, you would first go to Positive Outlook. If that doesn’t work, you would then add on Competency, and if that doesn’t work, add on Reactive.
Thus, it seems that if you are so incredibly stressed that you’ve already  disintegrated through your core type (possibly for an extended period of time?), then you will move to your first fix and also disintegrate through that in hopes of handling or alleviating the stress. This seems to explain a lot of other conundrums, as I have seen acquaintances of mine whose type both they and I were entirely confident in seem to disintegrate to a type that didn’t align with theirs. These acquaintances were undeniably type X, but for them to disintegrate to type B when type Y disintegrates to type B baffled me. As I look back, though, I realize each acquaintance had type Y as their first fix (to be clear, type Y is simply a placeholder and means different types for different acquaintances).
Although I have never seen anyone disintegrate through their second fix, it would theoretically be possible. They would most likely have to be under a crippling amount of stress for a very extended period of time.
----
As I come to understand disintegrating through your fix better, I will update this theory. However, due to the nature of the conditions needed to observe this theory in action, it might take more time than I would prefer. I can’t, of course, only observe one person; I must observe multiple people to solidify an hypotheses, and the acquaintances mentioned above are thankfully out of such stress and disintegration.
As always, comments, observations, and questions are welcome.

moth omg I love your analysis so much!! could I ask for some of your Ghetsis headcanons?
Yeas 😈😈😈 sorry for the late response but I've been pondering this ask.... Idk if this will have any particular order to it but here's some:
He has PTSD (he's just like me) (this one is arguably canon, most strikingly by the quote "I have a memory that has continued to haunt me. Just one. That unpleasant look in your eyes reminds me of it")
As a child he used to be a lot like N— a lover of nature and pokemon; a general positive outlook on people, pokemon, and life... It's part of why he can't stand N (he sees himself in him and doesn't like that)
My good pal vivi has convinced me he has Sturge-Weber Syndrome type 2. If you don't know what that is, like I didn't, here's part of the convo:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He's prone to breakdowns often, with varying intensities and for different reasons. Colress notices the signs when Ghetsis is about to spiral, and takes it upon himself to take him to a quiet, safe place and help bring him back down gently. Ghetsis appreciates it.
The Shadow Triad have been with Ghetsis since before N came around. Ghetsis saved and adopted them before he had his grand downward spiral and became the Ghetsis everyone knows today. They knew him when his heart was still pure, and they know the hurt he went through. They never give up on him for this reason. Ghetsis never manipulated them or treated them poorly, they just really genuinely love their dad. They're the only 3 of his kids he really enjoys the presence of.
Due to a combination of sensory issues and chronic pain, almost everything he owns is loose-fitting, soft, and/or silky in texture. His BW outfit is like this, but his BW2 outfit is more form fitting. He doesn't like it, but tries to ignore it. It doesn't work and he just gets extra irritable. He has the bed of a princess in a barbie movie. Luxury shit. Comfy. If he could his entire wardrobe would be nightgowns and giant shapeless cloaks
Colress made and attached a robotic arm for Ghetsis shortly before the events of BW2. Finding out about the state of Ghetsis' right arm before this was certainly A Moment! He regularly receives checkups from Colress afterwards, where he makes sure he's adjusting well and cleans the arm if needed. On the inner part of the arm the words "Colress Machine" are engraved on it. He can use his right arm, but he's not fully adjusted yet
Because he only had one fully functional arm, he had Colress help brush and tie up his hair. Even after getting his robotic arm, he still prefers that Colress do his hair. It's comforting!
I have many, many more where this came from... Feel free to ask about any of these or anything else Ghetsis (or Colress) related you can think of :)

sanctimonia vincet semper
Meet my Harry Potter (AU!) oc:
Name: Aradia Lucretia Malfoy
Nicknames/Titles: Rai, Malfoy the Elder, Elder Malfoy, The Heiress of Slytherin, Lady Malfoy
DOB: April 3rd, 1978
Hogwarts House: Slytherin, even though the Sorting Hat highly considered placing her in Gryffindor due to her boldness and courage, (though she’d rather lay down and let a hippogriff trample her than admit that to her parents).
Quidditch?: Yes
Position: Beater
Wand: 11 & 3/4 inches, cedar wood & phoenix feather, rigid flexibility
Patronus: unable to produce a corporeal patronus until age 21, when she did, it was a Cape hunting dog.
Loyalties: Slytherin House, The Dark Triad, Death Eaters (forced & “defected”), The Order of the Phoenix, Herself
Family: Narcissa Malfoy (mother), Lucius Malfoy (father), Draco Malfoy (younger brother), Bellatrix Lestrange (aunt), Rodolphus & Rabastan Lestrange (uncles), Lyra Lestrange (cousin), Andromeda Tonks (aunt), Ted Tonks (uncle), Nymphadora Tonks (cousin), Hecuba Avery (godmother), Jacek Parkinson (godfather)
Marital Status: Single (aroace), was at one point forced into marrying Theo Nott (someone she viewed as a little brother) during the war, but he treated her well given that he already knew about her aromantic & asexual nature. They divorced post-war and remain great friends.
Residence: Malfoy Manor, Wiltshire (school days), 12 Grimmauld Place, London (after graduation/wartime), Malfoy Manor, Wiltshire (immediately post war), Nott Estate, Wiltshire (wartime), Lestrange House, Mayfair, London (post war)
Occupation: Student (former), Socialite (post war), investor (post war)
Backstory: Meet Draco’s older, more conniving, and far scarier sister. The apple of Lucius’ eye (he even named her after himself, for god’s sake), Aradia Malfoy was both Head Girl and Queen Bee during her Hogwarts years. Due to her notorious family name, “take no prisoners,” outlook on life, as well as her razor tongue and overall intimidating personality, the Malfoy Family’s chosen heiress was labeled as one of the most unapproachable Slytherins of her time, though underneath all the layers of snark and ice, she was gifted with impeccable self control and unshakable loyalty to her chosen family. Also, with her skills as a natural born Legillimens, a prodigy at wandless magic, and a true Slytherin, she managed to hide her progressive nature and beliefs from her father, and played her part as Lucius’ little girl flawlessly— until he stood by and watched The Dark Lord mark herself, her cousin, and her brother, that was.
p.s- Jacek is a polish name meaning Hyacinth (thought i’d keep up with the flower names for the Parkinson family), and hyacinths can symbolize jealousy, lust for power, and devotion beyond death, which i thought would be fitting for Pansy’s father. 🤪🪻
additionally, Lucius picked the name Aradia for his first daughter as Aradia, in some myths, was the name of the first witch. Lucretia came from him trying to feminize the name Lucius 😅

The Mongrel Republics - Strive for Greatness
Though many dogs roam the world in small packs consisting of their immediate family and a few friends, the Mongrel Republics are a triad of grand-packs made of many members. The history of the Republics are a tad complicated - coming together, breaking apart and reforming many times since their first founding, often ruled by different leaders. Three packs have emerged from history, a cautious stability presented as they flow through their elections. These three current republics are The Sunflower Republic, The Iris Republic and the Ochre Republic - Sunflower and Iris are younger than Ochre, these two republics having been the result of a single republic ruled by a pair of brothers having a nasty falling out.
The Republics all believe in the word of the Five Howls, and it’s not an uncommon train of thought that the world is intended to have five official Republics - one honoring each of their gods though dedicated efforts are only infrequently put forth towards the creation of the other packs.
Though the Arum Repulic loudly proclaims to be part of the Republics, this information was thoroughly and completely denounced by both Sunflower and Iris - each citing that as Havoc’s pack chooses not to adhere to the Grand Laws, they are not recognized as a Republic.
AS OF A SOOTSAYINGS - The Western Packs have begun to enter a fairly violent pseudo-war with Havoc’s group who has begun launching raids and assaults on their territories and camps. Sunflower and Iris have begun to withdraw into themselves as they settle in for what may come to be an outright war.
☽☽ Relationship Status ☾☾
With Other Republics | Neutral. The Republics are decently far apart from each other and honestly rarely meet. They perform trades with each other and, of course, tend to share omegas, but in general, the Republics are content with live-and-let-live relationships with each other.  The bad blood between Sunflower and Iris has long since faded into more of a friendly rivalry and pride for their homes.
With the Sky Regencies | Neutral to Positive. The Republics live just as far from the regencies as they do from each other - even further, really. It’s not uncommon for those who leave the Republics to join one of the regencies, and for the Republics to receive new members through them as well. They’re periodically invited to coronations and festivals, so even if the Republics don’t see them often, their outlook is often positive.
With the Cabal | Positive. The Republics and Cabal are known to get along fairly well - both sides trading regularly with each other and sharing knowledge. It’s suspected that being mongrels made the bond between the two groups closer, as they can speak a form of canine-creole between themselves. The Sunflowwer and The Great Crows get along the best, as their territories run alongside each other.
With the Greenwood Empire | Neutral to Negative. The Greenwood Empire have managed to cultivate a bad reputation of being prejudiced against anyone not from their little group but especially unwelcome and insulting to those of the mongrel variety. Only the Sunflower Republic has regular interactions with the Empire and, although there seems to have been a streak of peace recently, they’re inclined to continue keeping their interactions to a minimum.

the withdrawn types are out of touch with the body center, which means they all have a sense of immobilization, a lack of control over what happens to them.
4: my problems will never get better/cant be fixed (combined with frustration triad, sense of perpetual dissatisfaction)
5: if i go out into the world it will swallow me whole - results in seclusion
9: whatever happens to me is left up to the universe (in contrast to 4 and 5, this is usually a positive thing as 9 is a part of the positive outlook triad so it results in a mentality of "everything will work out in the end if i do absolutely nothing because the universe knows what to do" which makes them stuck, though with more withdrawn influence in the trifix it can be negative as well)

Hi Charity! I am reconsidering my enneagramm and one thing I keep going back to the thought that I could be cp6.
The thing is, when I was in middle school, I got very sick and couldn't attend school for 4 or 5 months, and all I could do was basically sit home. The doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with me for a really long time  and as a side-bonus (lol) I developed pretty severe anxiety, so I had to be medicated for some time - maybe around 6 months? I remember being so afraid of going to school mostly because I knew my academic performance wouldn't be up to the standarts, and I didn't want to confront the fact that I got "stupid" (I wasn't - I aced pretty much everything despite being absent for a majority of the school year).
Aside from that, though, I don't think I am a very anxious person and I don't really worry a lot. It's been nearly 10 years since that situation, and I don't notice myself operating on "anxiety", as 6 is often described. I try my best not to get negative expectation a hold of me and remain with a somewhat positive outlook on life. Even if something doesn't go the way I wanted to be, I don't think I have an extremely emotional reaction - more like a brief disappointment and the though of "Well, I can make it work". I am usually very confident in my own abilities, and I don't like second-guessing myself. If presented with two options, I am not a big fan of prolonging the decision making, I usually just pick something without much overthinking, and I dislike dwelling on my decisions - what's the point of dwelling on the past? I need to focus on the present and future.
Still, despite being confident in myself, I struggle to trust other people. In a group projects I always wanted to be "the boss" and I wanted everything go my way, so I can insure that our work is good enough. Over the years, I learned to step aside and let other take control too, if they have proven to be trustworthy people. I also tend to distrust people with information and their intentions, always somewhat on guard and ready to correct people or to stand my point. I feel drawn towards people but at the same time I don't really think I need them, and I think I am able to pull away from people if I get uncomfortable a little too easily to be attachment style. I also really dislike when people assume that I am afraid of something. It's not that I don't have fear but it's on a normal level? Things like death, spiders, heights... But I don't usually get afraid in a day to day life because of an upcoming situation. For example, if I have an exam, I usually feel a little nervous but I am not scared - I know that I will turn out fine in the end. For me, fear is really intense emotion that overtakes me fully for a short period of time. It's really overwhelming and I don't feel it often at all.
You sound like you belong in the assertive triad (3/7/8). You might look into 3, since it seems like you focus on self-confidence and competency (being anxious only when it seems like you might fail, but then self-talking about how you're gonna be fine and get it done). 3s do have a line to 6, so it's going to show up sometimes.

-gently slides out of curiosity- ✨ @lionfated
hello, lucian. 😏 first off, i want to say that i admire your absolute tenacity because it seems like everyone is always clamoring to rp with you! and understandably so, because your Leon/Squall is an absolute delight. having only a loose understanding of ffviii (and a brief addiction to triple triad thanks to ffxiv lol), most of my familiarity with the character comes from kh.
that being said, i think you’ve done such an excellent job capturing “a man now wiser” vibes that leon gives off and his outlook of the world after suffering through so much loss and hardship. your leon/squall gets back up again. and like i mentioned before, your writing has continued to age like a fine wine since we’ve met! i love the methodical approach you take in leon/squall’s thought process and how he interacts with the world because it’s very much in line with how i imagine him to be as a person.
i would love to write more with you in the future. random memes, short threads, long threads, stupid banter, the works. i’ll never get tired of the boys. i do, however, worry about sending you way too much stuff with everything you’ve already got on your plate so i’m always trying to hold back on that submit button 😅
i haven’t even mentioned your lovely graphics and artwork! your aesthetic is so on point and your smoft drawings always fill my heart with joy for your characters 🥺

Finding Your Type: Problem Solving
(Transcribed from this post by Kambrie Ross.)
Type One
Competency Triad
In conflict, thinks about the "right" thing to do—based on a sort of moral standard, system, or principle—doesn't want to fail.
Consciously seeks to separate themselves from overwhelming feelings in order to solve the problem at hand with competent, dichotomous thinking.
"Right" for me means it serves a purpose, whatever it is. If it doesn't serve some purpose, it's in the way or causing a problem. If I can fix it I'm happy. if I can't, I stress.
I want to be taken seriously—I don't want to present myself as anything but composed and rational. I try to distance myself from my emotions—they are messy and hard to understand. Being rational is just more efficient.
Type Two
Positive Outlook Triad
Tends to ignore, gloss over, and push aside conflict and problems rather than address them (both externally and internally).
Sees conflict, problems, and negativity as divisive, which interrupts the flow of the relationships that give them their sense of identity.
Numbness to negative emotions. And numbing my own feelings so I can do more for others.
I try to see the positive in every situation.
I am the glue in relationships. It's hard for me to verbalize what I'm feeling and it's hard to bring up things that bother me. I will almost always opt to avoid conflict to preserve the peace.
I'm receptive at recognizing boundaries and reading moods without needing to speak them.
Type Three
Competency Triad
In conflict, finds an anchor in future goals—pushes hard into mentally assessing, then quickly and efficiently eliminating all blockages—avoids failure.
Tends to see emotions as obstacles that complicate problems and obstruct the path to efficiency and progress.
Every action should be intentional. I'm constantly searching for my purpose and doing what I can to achieve it.
I'm an achiever. I know if I want something, I'll get it done.
more often than not, it's hard to relax or feel fulfilled unless I'm accomplishing something or making effective use of my time.
I think logic trumps emotion almost always, and get angry with myself when I have emotions that are illogical.
Type Four
Expressive Triad
Has big, emotional reactions in conflict—feels a need to be authentic to the moment and their current feelings—wants to be heard, validated, and understood.
Believes (subconsciously or not) that the way you solve the problem is by addressing the emotional experience.
I wish people understood the importance of processing emotions...I don't want people to categorize me as "dramatic" or "too deep" when they lack understanding.
I've been told I'm very expressive when I talk about things (especially when I'm passionate or opinionated about something, which happens a lot). I often encourage others to not dismiss what they're feeling, whether good or bad.
I saw something once that said nothing feels small to a 4 and that felt really true. 4s CARE.
Type Five
Competency Triad
In conflict, thinks about data and facts—wants to think and process the problem before solving it—doesn't want to fail.
Believes you must shut down emotions to solve problems—feelings are messy, hard to understand and cloud judgment, but facts are straightforward and make sense.
I see lots of possibilities and I like to take my time to think everything through.
I'm extremely rational, logical, and level-headed. I put facts, morals, and usefulness first when dealing with emotions, making decisions, forming opinions, and gathering and proving knowledge. people always come to me for logical solutions to problems.
I try to learn how people like to communicate...usually doesn't work because people are human, not science, and always change things up.
Type Six
Expressive Triad
In conflict, wants to verbally process fears, concerns, and feelings in order to assess stability (relational and otherwise)—has a natural radar for threats.
Believes (subconsciously or not) that external affirmation of their thoughts and feelings will solve the problem.
I can pick up on if someone I love is emotionally off within seconds.
I feel like people don't understand my need to talk through scenarios. I want to be prepared for everything.
It's exhausting at times to feel like the only person who can see the problems with someone else's scheme or to be treated as overly negative when voicing intuitive concerns. I'm hard-wired to spot problems and threats and it's NOT just all in my head: it's good to think through and process all of the things I see and not dismiss them.
Type Seven
Positive Outlook Triad
Seeks to avoid or reframe negativity—often spins things in a more positive, exciting, or fun way (in the moment and retrospectively).
Sees conflict, problems, and negativity as unpleasant, (usually) unnecessary, and as hindering their ability to keep going and stay "up"—doesn't want to feel stuck.
I'm quite low maintenance in a relationship as it doesn't take much to make me happy—just spend time with me, don't be a Debbie Downer, and do fun things with me, even if they're simple. I'm so spontaneous and I see the good in people in life, so I rarely feel sad or let things get me down.
I see the world through a kaleidoscope lens. Everything is colorful, bright, and my mind jumps from piece to piece...As a 7 with depression and ADHD (as well as a chronic illness), life can be pretty sucky sometimes. But I'm able to look on the bright side and channel my pain into action (on most days).
Type Eight
Expressive Triad
Has big, passionate reactions in conflict—doesn't feel the need to censor impulses or emotional reactions—often pushes for contact to have a stronger sense of being.
has no problem with confrontation or challenges—engages with conflict boldly and willfully in order to keep moving forward.
I'm very upfront when I'm angry. I let people know.
I am so honest that I seem mean. So sometimes I am mean because it's easier than being misunderstood.
I make myself seem larger and louder (an outward defense mechanism to hide the vulnerabilities within myself).
When I feel threatened I go to "fight or flight."
I tackle conflict head-on so the tension is gone and we can be at peace.
Type Nine
Positive Outlook Triad
Tends to avoid and withdraw from tension, conflict, and drama they don't deem as worth the effort.
Sees conflict, problems, and negativity as unnecessary disruptors of peace—will engage in conflict if they can heal the connection and restore harmony.
I hate conflict, tension, and drama. I will engage in conflict as peacefully as I can to break the tension and bring peace back.
I see the world full of conflicting people who refuse to attempt to see things any other way and that's hard. The little things where humans are good to each other makes me happy. I see things with more potential good than many people I know. Conflict, tension, or passive-aggressiveness being present around me make me want to fall through he ground into the center of the earth.
I will do anything to avoid confrontation or conflict.

The triads that have been applied to the enneatypes as they also apply to the instincts
Because why not? These triads -- at least Karen Horney's -- were originally developed independently of the enneagram and then mapped to the enneatypes because there are nine of them that break neatly into various groups of three. But the instincts are also a group of three that I've found map just as neatly to these triads:
Self-pres:
competency outlook: what I can focus on to preserve myself and my sense of selfhood
withdrawn stance: building walls, turning away from the elements (psychological or otherwise), enclosing and protecting the self
rejection orientation: "providing necessary, important functions and becoming 'powerful' in my own right," to paraphrase David Daniels. Reality will reject my right to exist unless I do what I need to do to prevent my demise
Sexual:
reactive outlook: the libido, lured by scent trails, sniffs first and asks questions later
assertive stance: pushing the edges of boundaries, trudging through the brush because you can
frustration orientation: "speaking to the possibilities of the ultimate integration of personality and spirit." The expectation of higher or more perfect states of libidinal consciousness
Social:
reframing/positive outlook: what we can focus on to create something larger than each of us individually, what qualities we can uplift or ignore
compliant stance: the greater good, the social contract
attachment orientation: relativity with the world, "how we connect on a down-to-earth, people-to-people basis in our daily lives." A basic, deep-down desire to connect/bridge self and other -- an inclusive attempt
What's the real difference between the attachment orientation and the social instinct if the social instinct has its own attachment orientation?
If we see the social instinct as a fundamental desire to connect and to network, I think we can get somewhere with this idea. The so-called attachment types, in their own right, do actually fear rejection, because it represents being cut off from part or all of something they could use as an anchor point for their identity.
It doesn’t quite make them want to claim relational power for themselves to the extents that we see from 2, 5 and 8, however, because it is these types that are actually anticipating rejection as a baseline reality of life and using that assumption to inform their strategy. The attachment types, on the other hand, do not have a clear picture of the self to be rejected in the first place without the other – as an object to attach to – as a reference point.
The question is if this attachment-oriented form of self-relativity underlies the attitude author John Lukovich describes the social instinct having of trying to prevent social rejection by becoming valuable socially. The fear of ostracization would be the side effect of the attachment orientation needing a reference point for its sense of self.
We see this in how types 3, 6, and 9 actually fear ostracization more than the rejection types, precisely because they anticipate joining with this relativistic current happening first, rather than outright being rejected for who they are. The rejection orientation, by contrast, has already internalized rejection as an inevitable fact of life.

The first time he offered you the job, you didn’t take it.
At the time you were a struggling pro bender trying to make ends meet. You were determined in mind, though naïve in heart. You never thought your career would hit rock bottom. Although your team wasn’t the greatest at the time, you were slowly but surely climbing the ranks. No stack of yuan nor a multitude of shiny satomobiles could convince you otherwise. You weren’t sold on the idea of exchanging your future for a life of crime…even at the expense of your childhood best friend.
“I’ll pass,” You told him with a shake of your head and a smile gracing your lips.
You were well aware of the Triple Threat Triad and what they were all about: acquiring money, claiming parts of Republic City as their own, and wreaking havoc while doing it. It didn’t help that Shady Shin was involved. The once goofy and carefree boy who had a positive outlook on life had become the shell of a hardened man you no longer recognized. The two of you grew apart when your parents found out his family was involved with organized crime. It was only recently that the two of you reconnected by mere chance.
“Fair enough.” Closing the box with a ‘snap’, Shady Shin sauntered back to his glistening satomobile, popping the door open with ease. He slid into the driver’s seat, tossing the box of yuan in the back like discarded trash. “When you want to work with a real team—a winning team— you let me know.”
“Not likely,” You said with a bit of ice in your tone, taking offense to that. You adjusted the bag around your shoulders while making your way down the sidewalk. You didn’t spare another glance in his direction except when his satomobile passed you in a cloud of smoke.
****
Months later, you found yourself on that same corner of the street. Though this time you weren’t going for a leisurely walk, but instead looking for your next big break. The Rhino Lions—the name hadn’t been your idea—had little to no chance of showing what they were made of. Night after night, your team was succumbing to the harsh reality of losing more than winning. Tensions rose, and the pressure got too great for the three of you. Eventually, the team disbanded, leaving you with untethered friendships and little to no income.
You struggled to find a new team to join or a quick way to make money, for you had trained your entire life to be a pro bender for the Rhino Lions. It was all you knew. It didn’t help that you were living on your own, forced to rely on yourself to make ends meet. With a frustrated sigh, you turned the corner. Just as you continued on your walk, you heard a voice call your name and the approaching hum of a satomobile.
“Y/N, wait.”
You kept walking, shoving your hands into the pocket of your jacket as you looked straight ahead. The sound of a door closing and feet jogging in your direction made you quicken your speed. But it didn’t take long for him to reach your side. He slowed down to a walk, mimicking your posture as he shoved his hands away in his pockets. With each step, he sauntered forward as if he were skating on ice.
“So…how about those Rhino Lions?” he said, a smirk lacing his features.
Offended by his comment, you shoved him in the arm. He chuckled, raising his hands in defense. You caught the glare of his silver watch glistening in the sunlight.
“Still a touchy subject, I see.” Shady Shin shrugged. “I guess that means you can take me up on my offer, Y/N.” He slipped his hand back into his pocket and pulled out a stack of yuan, waving it in the air.
“I’m not interested in organized crime, Shady Shin. You know that.”
“I’m not talking about that offer.” He came to a halt, shoving the currency away. Although he seemed relatively carefree, you couldn’t help but notice how he nervously tapped his foot against the cement.
You lifted a brow and eventually came to a stop.
“I was thinking of Kwong’s,” he said, after clearing his throat a couple of times, though maintaining a confident and charming smile on his lips. He shrugged, kicking a pebble that was nearby. “Take it or leave it, Y/N.”
You lifted a brow, shocked by this proposal. Although it hadn’t been the first time he asked to sit down with you for dinner to catch up, you still found yourself flustered by the question.
“Kwong’s…that’s pretty expensive,” You noted quietly.
“It’ll be my treat,” he said too quickly.
You mulled it over, rubbing your chin as if you were in deep thought.
“What’s the catch?” You asked.
“Catch?” He put a hand over his chest as if he were offended by the question. His hand briefly covered up the gold chain that hung around his neck. “There’s no catch.”
You studied him a moment before looking down the street that was starting empty. The sun was rising. You knew that long after the sun had gone down he’d be off preparing for another turf war.
“We haven’t had time to catch up, anyway. So, what do you say? For old time’s sake?” He jammed his thumb towards his fiery red satomobile, waiting to be taken for a ride.
It didn’t take you long to be convinced. After months of worrying about your next move, you believed you deserved a night to temporarily forget about your financial troubles and catch up with an old friend.
“Yeah,” You said, a small smile rising to your lips. “Yeah, okay.”
Shady Shin smirked and strolled suavely back to his automobile. You followed a few steps behind. He opened the door for you and you got in. You ran your hands over the side of it in wonder.
You had never been in a satomobile before.
Climbing into the driver’s seat not long after, Shady Shin made the vehicle roar to life. He hummed and eventually jolted forward.
With the same confident smirk lacing his lips, he turned to you and said, “Hold on,” before stepping on the gas. The two of you propelled forward in a flurry of dust and smoke.
